You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, relatively simple person and all around a proud country gal.

That's what makes your current situation so strange.

Maybe you let having some money to splurge cloud your judgement when you answered Momo's question.

>"Let's browse what they have, shall we?" She asked you in front of the mall, excited. "This will be the first time I can pick clothes for someone else!"

"Long as I get to pick clothes for you too, sugah!" You smuggly replied, pointing a finger gun at her.

Boy was that a mistake… How would you know she'd take it as a challenge?

The mall was massive, which, to be honest, wasn't really a surprise.

What did surprise you though, was the variety of stores in sight.

Candy stores, tech stores, gyms and sports equipment, and more clothing and… fashion stores that you thought anyone would need.

For some reason, that was exciting at the time. The challenge of picking up an attire for someone else made what you normally would call an ordeal more of a game, even though you had to deal with the high yet expected prices and the other teenagers shopping around you.

The store you ended up at was a fun looking one, something you could only compare to a Hot Topic that didn't move enough products and had too many trends on sale at once.

Tiny hair clip hats and maid uniforms, baseball caps with torn backs and gakugan coats that almost looked like trench coats at the same time, dresses that look made out of cotton candy and the most stereotypical country dresses that you could had imagine were only a thin corridor away from each other.

If not for the girl right next to you looking like a doll or the boy with the two feet tall pompadour trying on coats on the back, you would have thought it a costume shop.

But going to the "wester" section proved to be the right decision, as you could find just what you were looking for and a bit more, picking up a hat for yourself too.

Unlike what you'd expect from such a gimmicky shop, the products don't feel cheap… Which is good, because they aren't.

¥32000 for a dress, two hats, a tie and a corset wasn't the kind of haul you would have taken home for the same money if you were shopping for yourself. It lacked trusty jeans and bulk white tees.

Another thing you didn't expect was for Momo to go to another store, making you look around like a lost lamb for a few minutes before she rushed you with a couple of bags, shoving them in your arms.

>"Here, try these on!" She told you as she did.

"Sure?..." You let out, a tad dazzled. Then you reacted, taking them and handing her what you had picked for her. "Ah mean! Here, you go get this getup on!"

With that, both of you rushed to the fitting rooms, giddy with excitement.

What Momo picked for you was… Oddly comfortable, as far as fabric and stitchwork were concerned. The collar and bracelets felt right as well, feeling well within the density range of what you'd expected jewelry gold to be at.

What was mighty uncomfortable however, were the receipts at the bottom of the bags.

Not only had she already paid for it all, but it was about ¥88000 once you had put it all together.

In a couple of minutes, both of you strutted out of the fitting rooms, drawing a crowd.

>"<Yee-haw!>" Momo said as she walked out biting on a fake piece of straw and doing an admirable job of concealing her japanese accent. Instead, she sounded quebecois.

You just walked out slowly, spinning just enough for the dress to flutter, but not enough to tempt any more wardrobe malfunctions. You have had more than your fair share of those.

>"You look ready to visit the embassy." Momo tells you, eyeing you up and down, then tipping her hat at you. "So, what do you think? Does it suit me, sugah?"

>What do you do?

>[It's a gift swap then? "Well, duh! Ah picked it for yah! Let's change back and I'll get it for you!"]
>[You won't take advantage of this. "Sure does, sugah… But let's get changed and return at least part of this. 's too much, you know?"]
>[Ask for clarification. "Uh… Are we payin' for each other's stuff or… Sorry, these things are new to me, would you mind 'splainin' a bit?"]
>["...Nope."]

"Well, duh! Ah picked it for yah! Let's change back and Ah'll get it for you!" You tell her, giving her a hearty pat on the back, the kind of love tap that reverbs through the ribcage before escaping through the nostrils along with her breath.

>"Oof-" Momo lets out, spitting out the fake straw and barely managing to keep a coughing fit at bay, yet somehow still managing to keep a steady death glare at you.

"...Sorry." You sheepishly tell her, fiddling with your index fingers and walking backwards back to the fitting room, quickly closing the curtain in front of you.

It only takes you a couple of minutes to dress back up in your jeans, shirt and vest, but you wait a bit more for the onlookers to go away before taking everything to the counter and briskly walk out of the store and back into the mall with Momo in tow.

>"There's still much to see… Some streetwear would be nice, wouldn't it?" Momo says, looking around before starting to walk in what seems to you like a random direction.

"Wait, what?" You ask, following her. "What's with all this interest in clothes, sugar?"

>"It's twofold. First and foremost, it's fun! Secondarily… Well, you always seem to be wearing the same outfit." She explains, holding her chin. "I don't want to pressure you into buying anything, but it won't hurt to keep an eye out for things we like."

"Ah guess…" You hesitantly reply, falling back in line with her.

Not that you regret it though! After your time at the spa, walking around the huge mall and checking out everything remotely interesting was, indeed, fun.

Even if you only bought a few more items and some popsicles in hours of window shopping.

Ever since you came to japan you had been squeezing every minute you have for all its worth, making this trip such a nice and unique evening of leisure stand out from the breakneck pace of the rest of your life.

At the end of the day and after a logistically challenging farewell hug, you make your way back to the house you share with your mother, feeling comfortably tired.

Not long after, having had your mother's saba shioyaki for dinner, you let yourself fall back into your bed, looking at the ceiling for a couple of minutes before looking at your phone, resting on your nightstand.

>What do you do?

Staring at your phone for a couple of minutes, you think of what to do with your time.

Calling Shoto? Bad idea, he might be asleep. A text would be better, but not by much, since you were going to see him the next day anyways.

Maybe looking for the VoD of the other years' performance at the sports festival… But that would likely end with a single hour of sleep for you. Not ideal by any means.

Instead, you opt for the simpler, more practical solution. You turn away from your phone and try to use your bed for the only thing a girl has a bed for, sleeping.

Once you blank your mind, it isn't hard to snuggle your covers and let the sandman do his job.

Having had a great day and a wonderful rest, you jump off your bed like a loaded spring at the first bip of your alarm, full of energy to take on the new day by the horns and break it to your will.

CR-CR-CRACK-KREECK-TOK!

...Once you recover from the shock of making your skeleton do all its morning symphony at once, that is.

After hopping on and off the shower and having put your uniform on, you carefully take the stairs down to the first floor, following the smell of the breakfast your mother was working on.

>"Heya!" She greets you, quickly looking at you over her shoulder and away from the pancake on the griddle for just an instant. "Good mornin' hun! Are ya' so eager to get back to school?"

"Howdy!" You reply almost instinctively as you start setting up the table for two, nearly bumping into Tin, holding a tray of pancakes with its tail.

>"Please be careful, mistress." Tin warns you, looking at you with its main camera while keeping the one on its tail trained on your mother.

"Hey pal, what are you doin'?" You ask the temporarily large-dog-sized robot. "Don't you usually wait by the door?"

>"Well…" Momma butts in. "Since this little guy spends so much time around the house, Ah thought it should start workin' for its… Uh… part of the energy bill, Ah guess. So Ah asked it to help. Mighty steady hands it has, that's for sure."

>"I'm helping." Tin confirms.

"...<Neat-o>!" You reply, a bit surprised.

After a simple yet filling breakfast, you shrink Tin and chuck it into your backpack, waiting a bit to let it strap itself to the lining before turning around and tackle-hugging your mother.

Then you make your way outside the house, getting immediately doused by a surprisingly heavy spring rain.

>"You might need this, hun." Momma interrupts you, handing you what at first looks like a pocket sized stick, but your quirk quickly resizes back to a full sized umbrella. "Try to not catch a bug, 'kay?"

"Thanks!" You tell her, waving back energetically as you leave the property.

At least having to use the umbrella makes you lament less the fact that you aren't able to use your bike yet. Still a bummer though.

Still, train stations and trains aren't that bad. Especially with people recognizing you.

By the time you reach the stop closest to U.A. you have lost count of how many confusing nods of appreciation and handshakes you have given.

Nothing weird after the festival.

Having to dash towards the school to avoid getting your slightly damp clothes wet and heavy, you make it to Classroom 1-A fairly early.

So early, that the only ones in the room when you enter are Momo, Kyoka, Shoto and… Hanta? Yeah, you are fairly sure that's Sero's first name.

Another good thing about being so early, is that there's no teacher to scold you for not switching your phone to silent mode, as it suddenly rings with a new text.

>"We MAY have a problem here. Come by the workshop as soon as you can, okay? It's kind of important but not really. Kind of is though. But don't worry." It reads. It takes you a moment to realize it was Mei's.

You have a bit of time...

You set your things down, looking at the text.

It's… weird.

On one hand, it doesn't look like it's really all that important. On the other, it sounds like what you'd send momma if were trying to slowly approach the issue of having set the kitchen on fire.

On the left foot, then, this was a god given chance to talk about that damn text.
But then the right foot, that was getting in front of the left as soon as it could, propelling you forward on your first step towards the door and the Support workshop, slowly at first, trying to not look suspect, then moving on to an awkward power walk through the halls before breaking into a full sprint.

All in the interest of checking on Mei and coming back before Mr. Aizawa arrives, not at all to escape from a possibly awkward conversation.

"HOWDY-AH'M-HERE-WHAT'S-UP!?" You yell as you almost slam against the door, tumbling into the room and almost falling over a table.

A table holding a stretched square of what looks like a thick, somewhat rubbery fabric that Mei was about to hit with a rubber mallet.

...Good thing you didn't fall on it.

>"Hey! That was fast! Just give me a second!" Mei says, quickly glancing at you before smashing the fabric with what looks to be all of her strength.

Thud it goes, as the middle of the table bends a little and the legs open slightly outwards.

>"Phew~" She lets out, wiping the moisture off her brow. "Remember that you asked for some costume adjustments?"

"Yeah, but… How does this have anythin' to do with assaultin' fabric?" You ask her, a fair bit confused.

>"It's a fabric sample!" She merrily tells you, taking the square off the table and handing it to you, then immediately hammering the table again.

CRACK! It goes this time, as a large crack opens in the middle of the table, leaving it more bent than it ever got with the last hit, but not returning to form at all now.

The fabric itself feels very similar to a diving suit, about an eighth of an inch thick and very flexible, but hard to squeeze between your fingers. Good traction, but no visible ridges for muck to gather in and ruin it.
"...The perfect coaster." You proclaim, spinning the sample in front of your face before snapping out of it. "...Wait a second, what does this here thing have to do with me? Ah thought there might be somethin' wrong with Tin."

Mei just looks confused at that… Huh. You think this might be the first time you see her with her full uniform.

>"Tin? Our baby? Did you do anything to it?! It shouldn't have any problems!" She replies, crossing her arms fairly defensively. "If you ever need to get something critical fixed, I won't give it back until you read the manual cover to cover!"

"...It has a manu-" You start asking, then cross your arms, staring at her. "..."

You have a feeling that she might be stalling…

"So… A Fabric sample?... What did ya do to my costume, sugah?" You ask her, crossing your arms and raising an eyebrow.

>"Just what you asked for!" She tells you, nonchalantly dropping the mallet on the damaged table, ruining any chance it had to be flat ever again.

With that, she quickly looks over both of your shoulders before dashing to the other end of the room, towards a small pyramid of the metallic suitcases that you recognize as the costume 'cases your classroom holds in the wall.

>"Over here!" She tells you, toppling the pile and laying the cases side by side.

"Neat-o! Can Ah see mine?" You ask her, reaching towards the cases, but holding your hand a few inches before touching any, unsure of whom they may belong to.

>"Well... " She starts, opening the first one, showing you your costume in its entirety, along with a black rope and two things that look like tiny black socks with metal tips. "This is what you asked for."

"Looks good!" You tell her, picking up the rope and testing its weigh.

Then you throw it at a chair, pulling the loop tight and launching the chair towards you, catching it in before it smacks you in the face.

"Feels mighty good too!" You tell Mei with a smile, even though she doesn't look as thrilled.

In fact she looks rather annoyed.

>"Not really…" She replies begrudgingly, glancing at the other cases. "Where's the fun in working with other's designs!?"

"What?" You ask, honestly confused at what she meant.

>"Tweaks are fine, but I had some time!.. And I got carried away!" She says, pointing at the other two cases. "Designing a hero's costume is one of, if not the biggest advertisement we can get! It's hard not to! If you go out there with a Mei original, I'm sure I'll have letters of interest before third year!"

"You designed another... Another two whole costumes?" You ask her, surprised at both her efficiency and business drive.

>"Well, the materials and overall shape are the same, the <aesthetics> are what makes them different!" She proclaims, opening both cases and letting you see their contents.

"Well, dang. That's cool..." You let out, whistling.

>"The idea was to keep the American aesthetic but scrap the lame tourist look." She explains, pushing the suitcases towards you. "You know, get people to greet you in the street, not sell you souvenirs."

"...Gee, thanks." You whine, digging a bit at the floor with your foot. You sketched that!

>"C'mon, try them out!" She encourages you hopping in place. "We don't have much time, I was supposed to return the marked suitcase to your classroom before classes start!"

"So Ah need to pick one right now?" You ask, feeling a bit of a headache coming in.

>"I got Mr. Maijima to hand me a key and let me open the workshop early!" She tells you, grabbing your shoulders and shaking you back and forth. "If I mess this up, your teacher will tell mine, and I won't get to be here alone again any time soon."

For a professional heroing outfit, that's a good one.

The black and grey one, though, seems perfect for when we need to go quiet though. Would be nice as an alternate/winter version, if it had a coat (aybe a long coat?) to go with it.

hero name, then internship
>>
Honestly we should intern with whoever will help us boost our Face and social skills. That is our most glaring weakness right now, so we should go with Best Jeanist or someone like that.
>>
>>3289663
I don't actually agree. We can learn how to be better at talking from countless other sources. The internship should really be for stuff we can't learn just anywhere. Edgeshot would be really good because he trained his Quirk of manipulating his body to get where he is, and Mt. Lady might be good because she actually offered to help us move while giant. Coincidentally, we have two internship periods in canon, the short one coming up, and a longer one later. I really don't mind who gets which, but Edgeshot and Mt. lady are the best choices.
>>
>>3289681
Mt.Lady would just have us helping Grapist boi clean her house. We already know how to clean up after ourselves. Edgeshot maybe, but 1 week of Face and social training with Best Jeanist should be enough to not have to worry about it again. At least we won’t piss everyone off around us constantly like we currently do.

She told us she wouldn't. And Best Jeanist taught Bakugo nothing.
>>
>>3289705
But unlike Mineta, MT. Lady likes us. We even called her cousin Yu.
>>
>>3289739
A big part of that is because Bakugo is Bakugo. And I do think he did learn a little bit of patience during that, because that was a whole week he had to spend without exploding or punching or kicking anyone.

Too bad the movie is gonna be ruined by Brie Larsons disgusting fungus feet.
>>
>>3289756
And how would that benefit us? Ushi's not exactly rowdy. Your argument about Face makes it seem like the hero you actually want is Uwabami.
>>
>>3289780
>expecting any DC movie to be descent

Just stick with the animated movies. It's the only thing they can manage to make it right.
>>
>>3289783
Well it would be interesring to intern with Momo and Kendo.
>>
>>3289783
Actually that is probably a better choice. Unless we want everyone to hate us forever we should just bite the bullet and go with Uwabami.
>>
>>3289798
I wouldn't mind going to her. It would also keep us far away from Stain.
>>
>>3289799
That and we would spend more time with friendo Yaoyorozu. Maybe even convince her to start training Tiger Cat style with us. Kendo is cool too.
>>
>>3289798
We failed all our face rolls with Momo and she still likes us. You're blowing this out of proportion.
>>
>>3289807

Agreed.
>>
>>3289804
Bigger bonus then!!

>>3289807
And we can always go and have lessons with Midnight. It would at least gibe us a good status to excuase ourselfs from our fuck ups.
>>
>>3289827
Yeah that was kind of my point. We have tons of people who can teach us to be better with people on our own time. We don't have ready access to someone else who can change their body to show us the ropes on how to do it and not fuck our skeletal system.
>>
>>3289807
I was thinking more about patching things up with pony and Uraraka
>>
>>3289837
The Pony thing is 100% because you fucks didn't take her for the cavalry battle. Uraraka has been egged on by the rolls but she's not exactly hating our guts.

Or we could have not done it in the first place. I agree that Face is an important thing but it's an important thing we can get anywhere.
>>3289876
Your tactical decision wasn't very true to our friend. I'm certain we could have placed in top four with Pony instead of Mina.
>>
>>3289919
Well we can’t go back and redo the sports festival. So we need a way to mollify people and mitigate the consequences. That’s what extra face is for, and Uwabami would definitely help with that.

And considering Shoto used to be a priority target for elimination we might want to buff more our powers. But if we ever bump into Moonfish or Dabi we run like hell.

Having only a couple of minutes to do this, you can do little but glare at the pink haired girl, pulling the costumes out of their cases to put them on.

Having her looking at you change doesn't help you feel at ease, at all.

However, the awkwardness does wonders for your ability to quickly strip down and dress up.

"Ah really like this one." You announce, donning the costume you sketched some time ago. "Practical as they come and comfy to boot!"

>"Sure, sure!" Mei snarks. "If you don't mind looking like you should be spinning an arrow sign towards the nearest <American Steakhouse!>"

"Geeze, no need to be mean, christ." You reply, taking off the jacket and then the rest of the costume, stopping at your underwear. "Fine, Ah'll try yours."

>"GREAT!" She announces, diving into the suitcase and pulling a can of spray and softly throwing it at you. "Don't use it now, but look at this!"

You have no problem snatching it out of the air, but you do have a few questions about-

"The fuck is this?" You ask, confused at the label on the can. "<Blakeney Anti-Slip>?"

>"Industry standard! Most skin-tight costumes aren't meant to rip, but that's what keeps the important bits in place when it happens." Mei tells you

"Oh. Ah kind of expected there to be some sort of, you know… bra?" You ramble, putting on the black and gray bodysuit, gloves, boots, chaps, the belt and hat. "...Why does this stop at the thight?"

>"...Isn't that what the chaps are for?" She asks back, seemingly honestly, leaving you flabbergasted. "You wouldn't want too much of this stuff."

"...Ta-da!" You say, trying to ignore both the chaffing on your legs and the fact that she didn't think about that as you spin in place. Not bad enough for you to be unable to ignore it, but something to keep in mind right now.

>"Isn't it great?" Mei comments, slapping your back to little effect. "Impact absorbent, cut and tear resistant and it should scale with your quirk. A great fabric to work with!"

"Nice! What's the catch?" You ask her, quickly taking the suit off to try on the last one. The fabric feels the same.

>"It's too good of an insulator to wear and doesn't stretch as much as most heroes would like." She explains, handing you the mostly white suit. "You would cook in that thing if it had sleeves and or lost the cutout. I'm pretty sure those dissipate a lot of body heat."

Texturewise, the white suit feels pretty much the same, sans the chaffing on your legs.

But you have to admit Mei was right, aesthetics matter, and this thing makes you feel like you need a comic to be on the cover of.

"Someday, Ushi, some day." You mutter to yourself before addressing Mei. "...Dang. Can't really argue with the cape. Or the stars. Nor stripes!"

>"Now put this in your ear." She tells you, handing you a small, wireless earbud looking pod and holding a small palm sized radio in her other hand, then backpedaling until her back hits a wall.

"Alright… What no-" You start before hearing her whispering in your ear.

>"<Dreamhouse> to <Stampede>, do you hear me?" She says, cupping her hands around her radio at the other end of the room. "Oh, right, hold to speak or double tap to leave it open and to close it. With the antenna in your horn cap, this baby has a range of one and a half kilometers!"

"So?..." You ask her, hoping the engineering prodigy would make the conversion for you. "Ah'm wearin' a flag, sugar. You know Ah dun get it."

She stares at you for a second after that.

>"...About thirteen and a half <football> fields." She tells you in a hopelessly deadpan tone.

"Sounds like plenty!" You tell her with a smile, angling you stance to point the pauldron in her general direction.

>"SO! Which one of these two babies are you taking to the field?! Whenever that may be!" She asks you, circling around you like a shark.

"Ah think Ah'll keep this one." You tell her, throwing your half cape over yourself, wrapping you in it. "Feels inspirin'!"

>"Great!" She tells you, running back to the table and dumping your old costume off its case, then pushing the case against you. "Now hurry up, put it in here, and get it back on the wall!"

You have no way to check the time at the moment, but you still change as fast as you can, thanking her and doing your best to run-but-not-really back to Classroom 1-A, only slowing down inches away from the door. Dashing in would raise some alarms, you think.

Waving at those you call friends, you calmly reach for the wall normally containing the costumes with the case, somehow causing the wall to open.

"Ah'll just return this…" You say out loud, noticing everyone turning to watch you store your costume case.

>"Hey, Ushi! What were-" Jiro starts greeting you, then perks up hearing something. "Places, now!"

Most of your classmates, already on their seats, don't react. But you don't need a second call to dash to your seat, smelling…

Uh. You were expecting the smells of the class, all but a lingering smell of hospital disinfectant at the other end of the classroom. The smell of cheap-but-perfectly-adequate toiletries that characterize Mr. Aizawa was expected to come from the doorway too, but the last smell…

A faint hint of a sweet smell, honey-like but with a slight sting that your gut insists in perceive as toxic, despite the rest of the scent feeling more intoxicating.

You know who's coming!

...Which wouldn't be worth the excitement if you had classes with her on tuesdays, but you don't, which immediately tells you something's going to happen.

Unless there's a specific part of the law Midnight would be especially qualified to teach about…

...You really hope it's not what you suspect

>"Morning." Mr. Aizawa says as he enters the room, instantly getting all of your classmates to curb their enthusiasm and pay attention.

"GOOD MORNING!" You reply, along with everyone else.
>>
>"I'd like to skip formalities and start with today's Hero Informatics class. After all, we have a special one prepared for today." He announces, letting the suspense build for a few seconds before continuing. "You'll be coming up with your hero aliases."

>"AWESOME!" Mina shouts, literally jumping off her seat.

Not that she's alone in her enthusiasm, however.

"YEE-HAW!!" You hoot excitedly, throwing your arms over your head!

>"Time to shine!" Aoyama proclaims.

And those are just the words you can make out from the excited chatter!

>"Hush." Mr. Aizawa says, making you all settle down, but not actually calm down. "But first, we have to talk about the pro draft picks I mentioned before the festival. You need to keep in mind that it's based on who the pros think will be ready to work as a hero right after graduation, not now. It's just an acknowledgement of potential, they aren't promising anything. In fact, they have years to change their minds, and any and all offers can be revoked for any reason. It actually happens quite often."

>"They are playing with us!" Mineta whines, weakly punching his desk.

>"Wait!" Toru says, with her sleeve letting you know she's raising her hand. "Being picked now just means more pressure in the future!?"

You can almost see Mr. Aizawa fight a smile at that.

>"Yes." He simply replies, then taps the digital blackboard with his knuckles. "Now, here are the complete draft numbers."

Walker 3421
Bakugo 2291
Todoroki 2027
Tokoyami 452
Iida 282
Yaoyorozu 108
Kirishima 88
Sero 47
Uraraka 6

>"There's usually a more even spread, but there are clear favorites this year."

>"Hey! I'm in the top ten!" Kirishima celebrates, contrasting with your other classmates, who look more dismayed than anything else.

Even though she looks disappointed, Momo takes it gracefully.

>"You are getting recognized, Walker." She tells you before looking at Shoto. "You did great too, Todoroki."

"Thanks!" You nervously reply, not sure what to say. You wouldn't want to rub it in.

>"I did not make it to the podium. This is just my father's influence." Shoto says, dismissing it all.

>"With that matter settled… Whether you were picked or not, you all will have a chance to work with professional heros." Mr. Aizawa announces, suddenly kicking the dying chatter back to life. "You are already more experienced than any other freshman class, but seeing the pros in action and working alongside them will still be worthwhile training."

>"We get to use our hero names!" Sato yells, excited.

"Ah guess we'll have to pick something real good, fast." You say, taking out a notebook and a pen, ready to start drafting names.

>"Keep in mind these aliases are only tentative, but you would do well to pick something appropriate…" Mr. Aizawa tries to explain before being interrupted.

>"OR YOU'LL NEVER BE ALLOWED TO FORGET IT!!" Midnight says as she sashays her way into the classroom… In full costume. "The names you pick now may end up being what the world ends up calling you for the rest of your career… That's happened to plenty of pros out there!"

"MIDNIGHT!" You yell… along with Mineta. You aren't sure he shares your earnest admiration.

>"Yes, that's true." Mr. Aizawa says, taking his seat. "It'll be Midnight's job to curate the names you pick… I'm no good at that."

>"How do you see yourself as a hero? The names you choose will link you to a certain image. After all, names and natures often agree." He says, crippling your enthusiasm. "Like All Might, for example."

>"Alright, pass these along and get creative!" Midnight says, handing a stack of thick cardstock signs and black markers to the people at the front of the classroom. "We'll review what you came up with in 15 minutes!"

With that, you end up staring at

Technically yes, but the difference is that they wouldn't serve a purpose. Another hole in the suit would help cool off more, and sweat has a tendency to gather in that area. Something known as a butt window would help.

As the fifteen minutes start, you waste no time biting the cap off your marker, grabbing the sign and getting ready to write your new hero name!

"Alright, a name for the crowds to call for!" You proclaim, getting your marker next to the sign, almost tapping the tip with it.

>"Do you have something in mind?" Momo asks, glancing up at your from her desk, with her marker capped next to her still blank sign.

"Ah came up with something. You'll see soon 'nuff." You reply, shifting your grip on the marker and starting to write, not slowly, but still carefully. "How 'bout you?"

>"I have a few ideas, but I've yet to commit to any." She answers, looking around the classroom. "Mina looks ready though."

Lifting your maker from your sign, you follow her gaze you have to agree, Mina looks just giddy, hugging her sign. Turning back to your own desk, your gaze meanders over Shoto's on the way.

"Already done, sugar?" You ask him, noticing him flip his sign around and put down the marker.

>"...Yes." He succinctly answers.

After writing down the name and adding some flair of your own, you quickly flip your sign and look around the room, seeing…

Most of your classmates, staring at their signs, tapping capped markers or their own fingers on their desks or running their fingers through their hair.

Tsuyu and Aoyama are the only ones who look calm… Well, Tsuyu is calm, Aoyama is shining proud. You aren't sure how literal that statement is.

Still, you lay back, enjoying your comfy chair as Kirishima and Sero seem to come up with names, joining you in your eager wait for the fifteen minutes to run out.

>"Alright, let's finish up!" Midnight calls once your time is up. "We can start with whoever's ready!"

Oddly enough, by the time she says that, most of the enthusiasm around the classroom had died down, replaced by the jittery nervousness that you associate to public speaking and formal presentations.

Hearing Midnight call for voluntaries, you quickly stand up, but Aoyama beats you to the front of the classroom, likely because he sits on the front row.

As he comes to stand behind the desk, you suddenly don't mind as much, as the muttering starts sounding less like he's about to announce his hero name and more like he's about to play russian roulette.

>"Damn, he's got guts."

>"I'm not good at this kind of thing!"

>"Here I go…" Aoyama says, carefully holding his sign before flipping it, raising it over his head. "<Shining Hero: I Cannot Stop Twinkling>!"

>"That won't work." Momo points out, and you agree.

"It'd be weird if his name occupied the whole headline, wouldn't it?" You wonder out loud as Midnight approaches him.

>"Take note, everyone." She says, pointing at Aoyama's sign. "Keeping it short and easy to remember is crucial if you want to be recognized. Try taking out the I and using the contraction cannot, Aoyama."

>"I see, Mademoiselle!" He replies, taking his sign and walking back to his nearby desk.

Somehow, everyone looks embarrassed by the first attempt, everyone but Aoyama, who is still beaming somehow.

This time, when Mina hops off her chair and runs to the teacher's desk, you just watch.

>"My turn!" Mina says, flipping her sign and slamming it against the desk. "Call me Alien Queen!"

Then you notice something.

Her sign says Ridley Hero over her name, and Aoyama, even though it was rejected, introduced himself as the Shining Hero...

You hadn't thought about that part!

>"From the sequel!?" Midnight says, looking far more annoyed than she had when correcting Aoyama. "Even if some themes overlap, you can't just call yourself like murderous monster!"

>"Aw…" The pink girl utters, shuffling back to her seat in defeat.

To be honest something like "Dilophosaurian" would have been a better movie reference for Mina (yes I know Alien Queen was her pick in the manga too).

Also Ushi should consider some sort of mesh cutouts in her costume for breathability rather than just open boob and butt windows; that it lets her add another color to her costume to contrast the white is just a bonus.
>>
>>3296034
Open mesh means less fire resistance. We want as much fire resistance as possible.
>>
>>3296034
I don't want to add more colors, I think that would just make the design too busy. And we'd need to get Mei to change it... which seems like a lot more hassle than it's worth.

I'm talking more like the sort of mesh you find on some workout clothes, only with superhero superscience materials. Figure that if we have to worry about catching fire through that it's hot enough that anything short of one of those vulcanologist suits won't keep us from igniting anyway. We just want enough breathability to lessen the swampass problem at the armpits, cleavage, groin, and asscrack.

>>3296150
Eh, this would be one of those things that you only find out after practical testing. And for colors I'm just personally not a huge fan of the all-white look.
>>
>all-white look.

Are you color blind? The stars on the suit are obviously blue, plus there is the pauldron and the cape not to mention the jacket as well as the boot and gloves. Stop looking just at the bodysuit mate.
>>
>>3297830
But that's where the tits are, where else is he gonna look?
>>
While less practical than mesh, a pair of open panels on the outsides of the thighs would add leg breathability, and match the cleavage window.
>>
>>3299504
I feel like the cleavage window should also have mesh. The public got more than enough of a chance to see Ushi's tits during the sports festival, as far as she's concerned.

Remember, she's the purest innocent in class, at least of the girls.
>>
>>3300618
That doesn't mean she doesn't use her looks to her advantage. She just doesn't do that to people she's familiar with. We saw her adjusting to the class in the first few threads and she used her looks to make other people look more inept than her when it comes to social interaction. This was even brought up last thread.

It only takes you a moment to figure out what you need to do, quickly biting off your marker's cap and fixing your sign, technically tripling the amount of text on your sign.

"Mah turn!" You practically yell, hopping off your chair and eagerly running towards the teacher's desk to present your newly picked name.

>"Can she do that?" You hear Sero ask as you come to stand next to Midnight.

>"We are calling for volunteers right now, so yes." Midnight answers, then nodding towards you. "Go ahead, Walker."

"Alright!..." You start, looking at your classmates staring at you in rapt attention.

If you hadn't been taking attendance for quite a few days by now, you doubt you could do this without undoing the first few buttons of your shirt to divert attention.

Instead, you hold up your sign and smile.

"This is the name Ah came up with, call I'll be <The Transfer Hero, Loanstar!>" You announce, looking around for a moment as you wait for Midnight and your classmate's reactions. "...Ah think it'll work great, right?"

>"<Loan>, <lone>, <roan>..." Midnight muses, taking a second before smiling at you. "Sounds heroic and western and it's simple enough to recall, linking back to your quirk and costume aesthetics at the same time. That's one way to do it. Good work, Walker!"

>"Roanst-…" You hear a few of your classmates try to enunciate before getting it right. "Loanstar!"

>"...I like it." Tsuyu says, tapping her chin. "It sounds just like what you'd expect from a western hero. Ribbit."

"Ah know right!" You say, happy with the feedback. Looking at your classmates, you are happy to see the pressure start to

>"What's the <star> part about, though?" Mina asks as she doodles over the used side of her sign with her marker.

"Y'all see!" You reply, returning to your seat with a smile on your face.

>"Sorry to bother you if I'm wrong, but doesn't that sound like something that would be a common name back in… Texas?" Momo asks as you sit down.

"Ah hadn't thought about that…" You murmur before turning to face her. "Ah don't think anyone has taken that specific pun… right?"

>"I can't say I know, but it may be something to keep in mind." She answers with her own question, leaving you a bit concerned.

>"It suits you." Shoto suddenly says, keeping his sign face down over his desk without any visible excitement. Not unexpected.

"Thanks sugah!" You tell him, nodding in his direction.

The next one to walk up to the teacher's desk is none other than Tsuyu, who seems to have it all figured out, as she doesn't look hesitant at all.

>"I've had this thought out since elementary school." She says, flipping her sign. "Call me Froppy, the Rainy Season Hero"

>"Cute sounding and makes you sound approachable!" Midnight tells her as all of you sound her name out too. "See everybody? It's not that hard!"

"Froppy!" You say, joining the cheering with an overhead clap.

After that, you can see the enthusiasm and excitement your classmates had before return.
>>
>"This!" Kirishima says shortly after, slamming the edge of his sign against the teacher's desk. "...Is me!! The Sturdy Hero: Red Riot!!"

"Riot!" You yell this time, skipping the red part but slamming your fists together as he's prone to do.

>"Red Riot… Could this be an homage to the Chivalrous Hero: Crimson Riot?!" Midnight asks him.

>"Right! I know he's not as popular nowadays, but I wanna be a hero like him." He answers scratching the back of his neck.

>"Heh heh…" Midnight laughs, taking the sign and looking a it fondly. "The thing with homage names, kids, is that they come with a lot of pressure. You will be constantly be compared to the hero you are naming yourself after."

>"I'm ready for that!" He eager redhead says, flexing.

After he returns to his seat, pumped as always, you can't help but listen to what happens in the middle of the classroom.

>"Agh… We are out of time and I still can't think of anything…" You hear Kaminari say, full of frustration.

>"Yo, how about Jammin-weyy?…" Kyoka then asked him, piquing your curiosity and prompting you to look at the exchange.

>"An homage to Hemingway, the author of A Farewell to Arms and For Whom the Bell Tolls? Clever!"

>"Nooope!" She answers, covering her mouth in a poor attempt at hiding her snickering. "It's cuz, well, you're strong, but… pfff… You're always going weyyy!"

>"Hey! Stop messing with me, Jiro!" The boy protests as Kyoka takes her sign and prepares to reveal her alias.

Is Kyoka always this mean, or are you just sensitive because of the memo-thing?

I completely agree with this but it actually turns me off from the quest at times. It feels like every dialogue option is a trap, forcing decisions that are more risk-mitigation than based on playing a character.

>>3303032
completely illustrates the situation. One person rightly says hey, let's consider the mechanics of the game when making decisions, and the other, also rightly, says that would be tough to do given the current system.
What i'm saying is, there needs to be some way to mitigate this in the current system, because otherwise both sides have legitimate complaints that the system doesn't solve.
>>
>>3303032
sounds like a solid plan
>>
>>3303037
We've barely fucked anything up because of Face for a while. We failed some rolls on it with Momo and that did nothing, and the Kyoka situation had nothing to do with a roll we made. Sure you can chalk part of the Pony thing up to Face, but definitely not all of it.
>>
>>3303037
We should be focusing on ACTIONS over WORDS, I think. I also believe it would be in character, and a sign of growth, if Ushi started demonstrating her thoughts by doing. She's an action girl, and communicates very well when she has that option. Or can create that option.
>>
>>3303032
Sounds like a good plan.

>>3303037

>>
>>3303049
Small addendum: I'm not suggesting that she never speak at all. Rather, that she spends time as a woman of few words but big motions for a while. A Spartan speech pattern could be an interesting characteristic.
>>
>>3303062

Little late for that.
>>
>>3303051
That's a great idea honestly, especially to alleviate the feeling of "trap options" in dialogue, so to speak, even if they're not there.
>>3303062
I mean I think Ushi has already been established as someone who talks regularly, but I would be open to us being quiet more frequently, that would be great growth. I just would hope that happens as a character decision, not a mechanical one, if that makes sense

>"Hey, thanks!" He replies, turning towards you and smiling, before looking back to the front of the class and Kyoka.

Not having the ability to see his face from the back of his head, you can only see the strange sight of Kyoka silently and smugly smiling at him, placing her sign on the desk without a work, maintaining her smug smile all the while.

It takes a couple of very weird seconds before Kaminari sighs and lowers his head, at which point Kyoka takes her sign back and returns to her seat, with no feedback from Midnight other than a thumbs up.

After that, your classmates and their aliases go by in a flurry, as they seem to have gotten the hang of what to shoot for.

Tentacole, Cellophane and Sugarman you cheered for, as well as for Pinky, but not without a twinge of sadness for the latter. Alien Queen was a really cool name.

For Chargebolt, you can't help but snicker at the sign itself. The name is good and you would have cheered on for him anyway, but the fact that he wrote down his thought process like an equation made The Stun Gun Hero's presentation the funniest.

Shoto's alias wasn't unexpected, but the frustration from <Creati>'s getting praise from Midnight for creativity would have killed some neurons indirectly, as consequence of the irony-induced forehead to desk contact you experienced after hearing it.

For Tsukoyomi, Grape Juice and Anima you cheer a bit less, the first because you have trouble reading his handwriting and you don't get it until he reads it, and even then, you don't really get it until Midnight says that's the god of the night. And that's a sin, maybe more than one..

Grape Juice's was a weird one, as Midnight calls it vulgar but good enough for approval, albeit in an underhanded way. Oddly fitting, considering it's Mineta.

Anima… Well, he makes you nervous. Not sure why that is, but when mixed with the fact that he's generally… Always a quiet boy, you give a kind, only somewhat forced smile and some soft clapping to The Petting Hero.

>"King Explosion Murder." Bakugo then says, slamming his sign on the desk with what you can only call Wrath.

It was so vehemently against the idea of what a hero alias should be that you could only stare for a few seconds.

>"...No." Midnight tells him after recovering. "Go back to your seat and try again."

Uravity's presentation was a bit timid, but you cheer for her anyway, helping her look less timid.

Instead, she looks straight at you for a second, miffed. It's a bit disheartening.

Tenya's presentation was really weird. Just his first name and an uncharacteristically slow and emotionless, wordless presentation.

Deku… You completely expected that one. The only weird par was that this time, Uraraka started cheering the moment you did. Weird.

Before the period ends and you can move on with your day however, Bakugo tries again.

>"Lord Explosion Murder!" He yells once more.

>"No! That won't work either." Midnight chastises him in a way that makes you think she was about to spray him with a water bottle like a bad cat. "The good thing here is that you don't really need an alias, as Iida and Todoroki chose to display."

It carries the ideas of being the thing that sets off explosions and being the thing that is first. Both concepts he likes.

<Shine> could maybe work because he’s always shouting shínē.

Watch as he starts thinking about spray-painting Ushi and goes from zero to full-chub in 60 milliseconds.

I gotta say, I love you guys.
Hopping straight from "we really need to avoid face rolls" into an unnecessary charm roll on someone we don't like.

Keep on trucking, lads
>>
>>3305899

Since he already hates us it doesn’t matter if we fail a face roll with him.

The suggestions[Charm] won! Primer first, BlastWave second.

That's a Face(Charm) roll! That means 2d10!
No RD to use here.

Am I also a ditz or has Urarararararaka’s beef with us never been revealed? I don’t want the hamster to hate us forever.
>>
>>3306564
Eh who cares, hopefully we aggroed the vampire and she won't be getting bloodsucked like in canon.

Or people will think we are to much for then and because of it Uraraka is going to be targeted by Toga because of it.

Pretty sure Uraraka's just misinterpreting stuff we say as digs at her own relative poverty.

Well at least now Mic can rest assure that people will still choose a charm option even if he tells then which option will require that as a roll.
