“Uh, guys?! We’re in big trouble! One of the Crystal pieces is coming our way — and there’s a fuckhuge monster chasing after it!” Yu Yan’s words echo stronger than ever! “Guys, fuck Control Room C! We’re going back inside! Clinic Patrol or whatever, stop that Crystal from coming in here or else that shit is going to wreck us—!”

Is the monster targeting the Crystal holder, or something else…? Doesn’t matter, your team needs to do something about it! Kazuchika Storgaard wasn’t the only threat today!

The communication cuts out and Nina’s voice takes over. “Ehem! Clinic Patrol, move to main entrance ASAP. Do not engage in combat. Repeat; Do NOT engage in combat! Henry, move to bunker entrance in case we need reinforcements. Yu Yan, Amelia, keep relaying info but stay out of trouble. Leave the cat there if you must. Go, go, go!” It’s nice to hear Nina so motivated again after Osgood died – you only wish it were at a better time than this!

“Let’s move, we’re Clinic Patrol!” You run towards the main entrance and hear your OG hobo barely keeping pace. Boopies meows excitedly on your shoulder, but you don’t pay much attention. Soon enough, Nariko’s footsteps grow distant behind you as you burst into the deserted clinic lobby. Only the receptionist is here, looking up at you rushing in.

“W-wait!” Nariko’s still far down the hall where you came from, trying to catch up.

Every second counts! What do you do?!

>Block the front doors with Philonune! Leave that trouble outside!
>Wait for Nariko, use Boopies to ask for orders while you have time!
>Open the doors, look outside, then close them quickly. Just to see…
>Write In.

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling over a 95 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 5 or under means a critical failure (only for hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

[Today, June 4th, 1:22 PM]

The Grand Hospital of Pokyo Lokyo… except occupied by the Rikidozan Family!

A subsidiary of the Youhao Clan, their mission is to protect the Crystal piece entrusted by the clan leader. Their patriarch, “Keiji Rikidozan,” had his men take over the hospital knowing the Crimzone couldn’t touch their equipment inside. Under his orders to his men, no civilian casualties occurred, and the doctors continue their work under heavy surveillance with the patients trapped in their rooms.

That doesn’t mean things have gone completely smoothly the past few hours – both police and mafia blood alike mix in the once-sterile halls. Despite this, Rikidozan’s leadership and the long-awaited revenge against the cops have kept the goons’ morale stable.

But our little tale here doesn’t revolve around an old grudge flaring back to life. It’s about the flamboyant young Assembly member, “B-WORM,” who’s sneaking inside the building! Thanks to the hard efforts of their intel team, they finally got a lead on the mysterious last Judge: a comatose girl named “Esperanza.” Knowing what he does now, B-WORM cannot let his team down!

…Is what he was thinking before the odds stacked themselves against him. It was supposed to be an easy sneaking mission, a quiet in-and-out! Not wandering into the middle of a warzone! And once the red lights beamed down from the sky, indicating a Crystal piece was inside, it became even more complicated!

Fights have been raging non-stop since he arrived, all of them ending with the yakuza on top. B-WORM has lost count of the hours he’s spent behind this drab couch, surrounded by ugly magazines and tacky furniture. If only he had just one free chance to make a move… but the closest stairs always had a guard even in the most hectic moments, and moving anywhere else put him at higher risk of being caught out.

Out of the blue, a massive crashing sound roars from the front hospital door! He only jumped in place because of excitement, not because he was startled or anything…

Could this be it? Could this be his chance to do his thing?!
B-WORM taps the flame on his left eyebrow, summoning his partner on his shoulders! It’s…a cool-looking oriental lionfish dragon thing!

“Who the fuck are ya!?” One of the mafiosi rudely shouts the same thing he’s said everytime the police appeared before. B-WORM has had to hear it at least six times now. Rather irritating.
>>

The thug and his partner walk closer to the entrance, footsteps echoing on the tiles. B-WORM keeps his spot, not daring to poke his head out to look at all… “Move one muscle and I’ll shoot, motherfucker!” the thug calls out. His gun’s safety clicks out.

In blatant defiance, the approaching footsteps don’t falter. B-WORM flinches as guns belch deafening shots into the hallway… but there’s no ‘whumps’ of bodies hitting the floor. The mysterious arrival’s footsteps speed up, and the mafiosi manages to yell out before his voice eerily cuts out. Then a body collapses on the ground…

It’s not the mystery guy’s. That’s his footsteps there. He hasn’t stopped moving at all.

Through his ringing ears, B-WORM barely catches another clicking sound, followed by another scream and a slam. Must’ve been the idiot mafiosi’s partner. The enigmatic guy’s footsteps echo farther and farther away, but the pattern keeps going: a click, a yell, a thump… Eventually, B-WORM can only hear distant yelling and occasional gunshots from further in the hospital.

By this point B-WORM is rooted to his position, too afraid to even breathe. Staying hidden kept him alive this long, no way he’s going to abandon that now!

…A body falls to the ground next to B-WORM without warning.

It’s no ordinary body. A human skeleton with the skin still attached on it, pale and almost devoid of any color or substance, simply sagging from what’s left of the flesh and bone. The eyes are shrunken and recessed in their sockets, giving B-WORM a disturbing view of what’s behind them. The head is completely bald, the shape of the skull visible through the thin scalp, shriveled prune nose, and dessicated face. The sweater it wears hangs loosely over its unnaturally thin torso, hinting at what else might lie underneath…

But what terrified B-WORM the most wasn’t this ghastly sight…

But the fact that body was still alive and breathing.

(Next post is still not done.)

You decided the best course of action is to peek outside very quickly! In a crisis like this, you need all the information you can get! Hopefully it isn’t anything too bad…

The first thing you see is the lump of snow on the ground from yesterday’s snowman. He deserved that kick in the head!

The second thing you see is the giant monster rapidly approaching the clinic from a few blocks away, just past the dead snowman.

It’s… a giant skeletal monstrosity! There isn’t much else you can make out about it from here, except the armored head is reminiscent of Rise’s partner, complete with tentacles! Unlike crazy Yu Yan’s entity, these are moving more like actual hair as it lumbers closer and closer to the clinic…

There’s a certain quality to the menacing beast that you can’t stop yourself from admiring.

It’s a shell of itself, an empty husk of something that used to be glorious and great – now a creature moved by vengeance…

You’re not sure why, but the thought resonates with you…

Oh, and there’s some guy you’ve never seen before in your life running towards the door. Even though the day is starting to become night, the red aura of the Crimzone still hangs in the air along with the light beam shining down on him. He must be the source of your possible troubles…

With your reconnaissance mission done, you close the doors faster than lighting and drive your back against them! And good timing too, because they immediately slam against you! “Wait! OPEN UP! OPEN UP!” Desperately yelling for his life, the man continues throwing himself at the doors with all he’s got!

Something about this man unsettles you on a deep level you can’t quite place. You aren’t a despicable enough man to let him rot outside, but you also have a duty to uphold – Constance must remain safe, no matter what.

Is it a good idea to let him inside? Is the monster only chasing after him?
He has a Crystal piece after all, making him a target for everyone who might be out there in the city…
But even if the monster is just passing through, having him inside might be too much of a liability…

What do you do?!

>Open the door! A human life is a human life, isn’t it?!
>“Sorry man, can’t do that. If I were you, I’d keep running!”
>Yell at the receptionist to do something! What’s with them?!

[Today, June 4th, 1:42 PM]

The Patriarch Rikidozan has heard the news of the serial killer and decided to take him out himself. Alone. But this is no act of inflated ego or recklessness, but a sacrifice he needs to make to spare his men from certain death. He has finally understood what is happening here, and in hindsight it was rather obvious: they were sent here on a suicide mission. To be disposed of like scraps fed to a dog.

Looking out into the city streets from the fourth floor window, Rikidozan considered how things came to this point…

Gianluigi’s Youhao’s long-overdue takeover of Rokyo, a relieving overhaul…
The Clean Law and Gordon Jr.’s police crackdowns neutering the Clan’s power…
The Rikidozan Family outliving the other purged families, fighting and staying afloat together…
The Patriarch’s obsolete business style, refusing overseas mafias to hold his proud gangster tradition…

Rikidozan’s contemplative expression shifts into an open smirk. He looks down at his legendary bat, the one he caved in a hundred and ten chucklefucks’ faces with, and remembers his oath to Youhao.

“I won’t retire until I die. And for me to die, one hell of a guy needs to take me down – and for someone to take me down, we’re going to have one hell of a fight. And that’s what I love.”

His glance moves to his pocket, the weird red laser thing passing through the walls and ceiling straight to the Crystal piece in his pocket. Gianluigi Youhao himself gave it to him, saying some shit about “protect this with your life.” Knowing what he did now about the suicide mission, it wasn’t hard for Rikidozan to connect the dots:

If he has to protect it with his life, then it must be important.
If it’s important, then people are going to come for it.
If people are going to come for it, he’s going to cave their fucking faces in. Simple as that.

But his subordinates, bless them, weren’t willing to let their boss march to his death.

“Boss!” Bodyguard Ascher Mendel and Lieutenant Bertulfo Servello walk back in again after being dismissed earlier.
“You still here? What part of my shit didn’t you two dumbasses get?! Get the fuck out with everyone and report to Gian already. Dismissed!” Rikidozan waves his two henchman away without moving from the window.
“Boss, you’re going to di—”

Rikidozan shoves a hand against the window and spins around to face them. He looks Archer in the eye, still standing there with his dumb mouth open. “Bitch, do you know who I am? It’s going to take one hell of a man to kill me.” The Patriarch thumps his chest.

Bertulfo walks up and grabs his boss by the shirt. “Boss, that guy’s not human. He’s a monster!

(I forgot to paint his bat in that post, wew.)

Rikidozan calmly looks down at the hand holding his 500 Gor$ shirt. “Then hell itself finally came for me.” Rikidozan pushes him away and points his bat at his subordinates. “You two listen up, shove this in your ears and not up your asses. If a bitch personally killed dozens of my men, I’m personally going to kill him. No fucking questions.” He scoffs. “And if it’s as bad as you guys are tellin’ me, then I’m the only one who can slow him down.”

“Just give him the weird crystal shit and leave! We can still recover from this!” Archer is on the verge of tears. “…We got so many of our brothers locked up already thanks to kid Gordy’s blue faggots! We can’t lose you too, boss! Please… Don’t let that bastard Youhao get his way!”

“I rather be dead than alive and not trying. Now get out of my face.” Rikidozan hefts the bat over his shoulder straight from his aspiring youth days, not sparing his men a look as he casually struts past them, leaving them behind in the room. “Remember boys, the clan’s future is in your hands. Don’t fuck it up!

“Boss… The Rikidozan Family will live on! We promise you!” Lieutenant Berfolio and Bodyguard Ascher salute their boss as he marches on towards his death. The lone Patriarch holds a thumbs up over his shoulder…

You could leave the poor man outside… but in midst of the weirdo trying to tackle it again, you pull the door open! All the force in his slam whiffs into air, making him trip much harder than you expected. You thought he’d eat the tiles, but he somersaults smoothly and lands on his knees! With the mystery guy trying to recover, you take the time to close the door back up and take a good look at him. Jacket, dress shirt, tie, slacks… seems pretty ordinary. Nothing about the guy sticks out at all.

Then, face red and chest heaving, a somewhat exhausted Nariko finally shambles into the scene! The weirdo lifts his gaze and takes a good look at Nariko.

“Mhm, curvy! I like it!” The disgusting man smirks and winks at your horrified hobo. He has no shame! Then again, Nariko has too much shame.

Your OG hobo retaliates with a piercing slap across his face, spinning his head your way. Taking the cue, your fist slams into his smug grin the way Trent taught you! The creep topples over! Your combo worked perfectly! Good thing war has rules no one gives a shit about!

While you shake off your stinging hand, black chains materialize around the man’s face and connect to Nariko’s hand. Nariko drags the muffled lech towards herself and quickly buckles him into a nearby chair. That doesn’t look too comfortable with how he’s squirming, but he can still breathe so it’s okay! Who knew Nariko was so experienced with tying people up? Something she learned from her entity when she got her memories back, maybe?

N-not that you’re interested in that, or anything…

Either way, the captive guy has a Crystal piece on him! The red light cuts through the roof of the clinic lobby straight into his jacket pocket, and you can see the beam glow distant in the darkening sky outside. You wanted to knock him out as soon as possible, so this works too.

But when you focus on checking the man over, you notice he has no flame. Why would he have a Crystal piece without any powers…?

“Meow!” Boopies meows without a care in the world. You have no idea when she left your shoulder, but she’s on a comfy sofa nearby.
>>
>>3269041

“Is that a Crystal piece…?” Nariko’s eyes start to shine; the megalomaniacal side of her is showing! You thought that disappeared after her spanking! She dramatically draws up to her full height (still shorter than you)… then turns and heads over to Boopies! “We need to let Nina know about this.” False alarm! Nariko is just greedy for your food. She definitely deserves a good home-cooked meal from you – if you survive to get home, that is!

Maybe you could question him, but there were too many interrogations for the day (even though you didn’t personally participate in any of them)… And do you really want to go through that again after what happened with Kaz?

But before you could consider anything else further, the monster’s heavy steps rumble through the building! From the closest window, you can see it clearer on the snowy street. It’s definitely Yu Yan’s old entity! How and when the fuck did it become building sized?! Who cares, you need to do something on top of everything else you’ve been doing the whole day!

Let’s be honest, you’re not exactly equipped to deal with a kaiju here… What now?!

>Throw the man outside with his Crystal piece! It’s not under a bus, but can a monster be a bus?
>Tell the receptionist to take care of the unknown man while you bunker the Crystal piece and the guy!
>Call Nina for instructions! Dragging the man and Crystal piece around the hospital can buy you guys time?
>Take the piece, go outside, and use Philonune to throw it away as far as possible! Screw this monster!
>Pocket the Crystal piece! It’ll be safe with you, hopefully. This monster must be easy to outrun…

[Today, June 4th, 11:52 AM]

The Central Police Station of Pokyo Lokyo. A furious Chief of Police Rob Banks rudely throws his cigarette butt at one of his men, impatient and stressed. His office is full of other policemen who are not looking that much better. They silently stare back at him, milling around and shuffling uncomfortably. The Judgment Day situation is getting out of hand, and the Crimzone stops all communication that isn’t relayed on foot. It’s no surprise he’s losing it with the pressure the President laid on them a few hours earlier. All the officers who failed to return from the Hospital Raids aren’t doing him any favors, either.

In case you are wondering, Rob Banks already delivered his Crystal piece to the President. That ship has long since sailed.

“Can someone here explain to me what the fuck is happening out there? You screwheads are running around like headless chickens! None of you are following any of my goddamn orders! Are any of you pansy-ass shits gonna say something, or are you just going to stand there and fucking look at me!?” Rob Banks has lost control of his men and he has no idea why.

With his outburst, some of the policemen chuckle nervously. A few of them steal glances at the door leading back out into the main office area.

“…You maggots think this is fucking funny?! You’re letting your coworkers die for nothing out there! You want to put that on me, huh?! You want me to take the blame again?! I took the bullet once, but if you piece of shits think I’m going to be the only one beheaded, you’re dead fucking wrong. Why aren’t ya protecting the hospital like I told ya?! Did you fuckers even train the pigeons like I said?!”

The door opens and closes, and several policemen turn and move aside for the new arrival. “Stop yapping around, Banks.” A distinctive firm voice shuts the madman up! It’s none other than… Lise’s father and the real Chief of Police of Pokyo Lokyo: Danforth Villiers!

“So… finally someone has the balls to say something…” Rob Banks turns to see the unpleasant voice’s origin. “Step right up so I can…” Once he takes a good look, his jaw drops. “You…? Y-You’re out of commission, Villiers! Get the fuck out of my office!”

“I believe you meant my office. Things are going to change. For one, you’re fired. Again. I’m back in charge.” Danforth is kind of a monotone sounding man, but his voice carries the unmistakable authority of years of experience…
“Guys, get him out of my office!” Rob orders his men… but none of them move a muscle. Some start giving him shit-eating grins, others move closer to Danforth to guard him. Rob’s face falls with the realization. “…You shits were in cahoots with him this whole time…”

“Anyone who was loyal to you is dying on the streets. Now stand down and let us do our job.”

“D-Do you have a death wish?! You understand Gordon wants me here, right?! I-I have those yakuza bastards on the ropes, old man! Eighty fucking percent in jail, and the stats don’t lie! Gordon’ll have your head if you fuck this up for me, you hear?!”
“Starting today, what Gordon Jr. wants won’t matter.” Danforth Villiers adjusts his tie. He gives Banks a small smile. “Your time is up along with his. We’re on the edge of a revolution.” The sitting policemen stand up and join those standing in slowly surrounding Rob Banks.

“You goddamn hippies.” Rob Banks taps his right foot with his left, summoning his entity to attack! It’s a weird wolf-headed floating lighter with stretchy-looking arms, and it’s head and hands are aflame! With a bloodthirsty grin, the entity stretches a claw forward at Danforth! The attack is blocked by another entity user shuffling out from the policeman crowd! It’s Johnny’s PE Teacher and Henry’s nemesis, Brock McKenzie! He’s moving around on crutches, acting as Danforth’s bodyguard. His entity looks like a weird boxing machine crossed with an angel!

“Pal, you’re outmatched.” McKenzie smirks.
“Pfft. What’s up with all you goddamn brutes thinking you can sound clever during a fight?! Just shut up and fight me, you dense fucks!” Rob Banks’s wolf-lighter entity stretches another arm to knock one of McKenzie’s crutches away! He trips and falls down rather pathetically…

But the real battle has just begun…

One thought comes from the back of your mind: What if the monster is seeking revenge on Yu Yan? Would she stop just there? Wouldn’t everybody else be target through twisted association? Wouldn’t she make the matters worse if you keep the Crystal piece in here?

There is no way in hell she’s retained any knowledge from Yu Yan’s connection. Any psychic-entity-bullshit is out of the way thanks to Athelone’s interference. It’s why Yu Yan would never be able to recover her memories again, and it’s why you had her go through with it back then.

So the monster must be here for the Crystal…

Over at the sofa, Nariko is calling Nina using Boopies! The cat meows excitedly! Now that the chained guy is unconscious, you take the opportunity to pickpocket the Crystal piece off of him! Holding it in your hand, you don’t feel much different. All this for a weird rock?

You hope Amelia will understand.

“Ms. Uccelli, we have reprimanded a lecherous man possessing a shard of the Crystal. The monster draws nearer as we speak, and I cannot help but to think they are after the precious thing. What do we do? Over.”
Before Nina could say a thing, you lean over Nariko’s shoulder to talk through Boopies! “I know what to do. I’m taking the Crystal piece far away from the clinic! If that guy could run through the whole city to get here, staying ahead of the monster, then so can I.”

“W-wait a second Johnny! Don’t you dare move a muscle! Give me a second to think what to do!” Nina is not up for your shenanigans right now. Too bad.
“J-Johnny, what are you thinking…?” No honorifics from Nariko! She doesn’t notice how close you’re standing to her, that’s how shocked she is!

“Sorry Nina, but every second counts. I’m going! It’s for everyone’s good!” You run at the double-doors leading out of the clinic!

“No! No! No! Stop right there…!” The radio screeches with feedback before a loud clattering sound comes through the speaker. Did she take off her headphones? She’s probably coming here to stop you herself!

“Yes! Yes! Yes! LET’S DO THIS!” Philonune is beyond excited! He’s the only one on board with your plan. “Finally something for us to do outside of guard duty!” The excitement is infectious through your link. You’re starting to feel the hype yourself…!

“Let me go with you! Let me help!” Nariko begs, almost whines at you.
“Of course not!” You pause at the doorway to look back at her attempt to scramble after you. “I’m doing this to save you! And besides, you barely keep up with my pace! Sorry Nariko, you’ll just have to trust me on this one!” You bust through the doors into the freezing summer air! “Keep everyone safe here too, please!” Tears run down your perverted hobo’s cheeks as she basically accepts it without a choice. She stops, and the last you see is her watching you with a shaky smile.

Now, as you dash through the empty white streets past the ungodly spooky skeleton kaiju, a problem hits you:

You have no idea where the fuck you’re going!

“JUST KEEP RUNNING! MOVE THOSE LEGS BECAUSE THAT VILE CREATURE IS BEHIND US AS WE SPEAK!” Philonune yells at you! You turn around to OH GOD HE’S RIGHT! AAAAAAHHHH!!

“REEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH—!!!” The beast shrieks with a noise you never want to hear again in your life. Its massive feet shatters the concrete beneath it with every step! Its eye sockets shoot a hateful glare down at you and the Crystal in your hand! Uh… it’s kind of slow though. Maybe like Icioba, it’s not used to its giant monster body yet? You don’t want to stick around to find out though!

Without thinking, you run in the opposite direction from it, noting idly the sunken depressions and crushed cars from its rampage to the clinic. Now you need to come up with an escape plan to somewhere, but where?!

The monster is gonna either take the crystal piece for a powerup then destroy the clinic and everyone inside for the hell of it, destroy the clinic and everyone inside for the crystal piece being in it, or find out Yu Yan is there and kill her - followed by destroying the clinic and everyone inside.

You see the issue here, right? Amelia isn't a complete fucking brainlet that she'd ignore a blatant threat like that.

We did pose the plan. She was on her way to stop Johnny, which would waste time because the kaiju is LITERALLY right at the front door, and it took only Johnny running outside with the fragment to make it turn and move away.

(80…! That’s a Good Roll, and obviously a success! Nice!)

[7:12 PM]

Well… Nobody will assume you’re running to an Amusement Park with the Crimzone active and nighttime coming soon, so why not go there? It’s in the Northern District, quite a hefty trip! Hopefully your legs won’t give up on the way there!

“Have you decided on a destination, partner?!” Philonune asks you, facing behind you as a second pair of eyes. His voice is loud and even, but you feel his tension through your link… “If we head out without a goal, we’ll die as fools before we reach anywhere! I’ve seen it happen, and I don’t want it to happen to us!”
“Yes! The Amusement Park!” You want to see the Ferris wheel one last time! Ehm… One more time!
“Good, keep running! You trained for worse than this Johnny! I have faith in you!”

Not even in your wildest nightmares have you thought you would be chased by a disaster movie monstrosity! Now that you think about it, things have gone weirder than this before with Icioba. Back then you were the one doing the chasing! Kinda disappointing, all things considered.

Either way, the deprived demon continues stomping after you! You keep running in a straight line in the middle of the deserted street, no traffic to slow you down!

Whenever your path permits a good view of the building-sized horrorshow, you notice something peculiar about its sluggish movements. The way it moves lacks refinement, giving the impression of resting and not chasing, despite being able to keep a decent distance from you. You’re gaining ground little by little, so the tension you were feeling before isn’t as pervasive now.

“Why don’t we turn invisible?” Philonune asks out loud in the middle of you jumping over a snowbank.
“We can, but the Crystal ray wouldn’t stop showing us… And I don’t want to stand in that thing’s range!” You answer him in between your breaths. Granted, that about the Crystal beam and your own power was just an assumption, but you figure the Judges’ powers override yours when it comes to this stuff… “I’m not sure what Yu Yan’s power was, but now’s not the time for a reminder, okay Philo?!”

Philonune doesn’t bother responding back, dutifully watching the demon’s movements. Your answer was enough for him.

The outside hasn’t dramatically changed since your little revenge adventure with Richard a few hours ago. The ghastly feeling of an abandoned city intensifies as night starts to fall, the streets a war movie’s no-man’s-land. Even though the Crimzone suppressed all streetlights, the red aura still gives off some ambient light – helpful for when you’re running for your life, where any slip on ice or trip over an object could spell certain doom! Patches of concrete and asphalt here and there are uncomfortably devoid of snow with no indication why, while others have remnants of rubble and debris.

There’s a little bit of everything out here, except for the human element. If there are any bodies laying around on these streets, the snow probably covered them by now.

Or maybe they were there, but they disappeared.

Neither of these thoughts are comforting to your escape!

On your mad dash through the city streets, you have heard people running in the distance. Always farther away than you, but out there in the empty cold. Maybe the huge monster is making everyone run for their dear lives? But aren’t they invisible to people without Flames?! Food for thought…

“Look at that!” Miraculously, you find a winter bike sticking out of a snowbank! It’s been a while since you’ve used one, but fuck it! Better than running in the dark. “Shit, we’re lucky!” You start wiping some of the snow off. Huh, looks like some cop’s bike. This qualifies as a “state of emergency” right?

“Uhm… How fast can it go in these conditions? I’m not well-versed in human vehicles, you know.” Philonune isn’t as thrilled as you. Probably wants a wheelchair instead.
“It’s a winter bike. Perfect for this!” You jump on it! It starts freezing your butt within seconds! Doesn’t matter, the chains and pedals aren’t frozen!

And off you go! At this pace, the revenant spirit has a ghost of a chance of catching you! You pedal as fast as you can and watch it all zoom by!

“…I was wondering why this machine is able to work under the Crimzone, but others are not. Why is that?” Philonune takes advantage of the lull to ask a question. You’re some miles away from the monster at this point, but you feel it lingering there, unstoppable.
“It’s mechanical, not electrical. All it uses is the force of the rider, so it’s okay.” You still have no idea why guns don’t work. They’re mechanical, aren’t they? Then again, guns not working is in your favor, so why question it?

Too bad Kaz was the only exception to the rule. Bradford’s ability could bypass the Crimzone too, but he never got a gun for that. Damnit…

“So… a trebuchet could work? Hypothetically speaking?” Philonune watches you pedal rapidly as he asks. Good question.
Another good question: How does your two thousand year old fallen angel know about trebuchets?
“Probably…? I don’t know. I don’t make the rules.”
“We should build one to assault these giant beasts next time. This has been the second one we’ve encountered so far, and I know there will be more.” Sounds like Philonune is thinking up a plan… Maybe you could contact Ka-Shing about it later? Something tells you he’s an expert with these sort of plans.

After that little mind chat ends, you swerve between two buildings. On the far side of the alley you spot the ferris wheel, a black circle looming above the city’s red haze. The beast can’t follow you in here, and you’re almost there! The dull brick walls race past you. It’s simple to swerve around the occasional dumpster and fire escape. This was a piece of cak-

“Johnny, above us!”

A tremendous crash rattles the ground. It throws you off balance and your bike clangs against a rusted staircase. The sound of tumbling rocks rumbles through the narrow alley, soon followed by a wall of dust rushing past and around you. You struggle to keep yourself moving, not to skid down to the asphalt, and manage to sneak a peek behind you…

The walking nightmare exits the dust. Its eyes aren’t glowing as red as they did before, but its gaze is locked on you, mouth open in an expression of rage. Panicked cries of distress emanate out from the rough gash carved into the building. Your ears vaguely pick up on the squeals of a child.

For a second there, you flashback to when you ditched the clinic. Leaving Nariko and Nina crying after you, leaving Amelia to definitely hate you for running off into danger alone again, leaving the others to resent you for repeating what almost got you killed… None of your doubts and misgivings matter now.

If you had stayed there with the Crystal fragment, everybody would’ve been dead.

The sun has finally set on Pokyo Lokyo. Your old neighbourhood is left behind in the murky red gloom. Judging by the few signs you recognize, you’re in the Shopping District now. In about ten minutes you should reach the Amusement Park…

(90…! That’s a Crit! Very nice!)

[7:21 PM]

Nothing’s going to change. The Amusement Park should be deserted, so there won’t be any more casualties to worry about. You keep cycling away, feel your legs tingling. It’s been a long trip so far, but you’re just minutes away from your destination.

The evil goddess continues following your trail, no remorse, no slowdown. After all, its target is right here! You hope the people in that building survived whatever Yu Yan’s entity did to get there.

It’s no surprise the Shopping District is utterly desolate today, and thankfully there are no houses around. The beaming lights of night life are absent, replaced by the intense oppressive red of the Crimzone. The snow blanketing everything in sight does nothing to brighten the unearthly atmosphere.

This is a surreal Pokyo Lokyo you’ve never seen before, and you’re not sure if you ever want to see again.

As you continue to traverse the atypically empty streets at full speed, you hear danger coming! From the sidewalk off to your right is a woman wearing glasses! Something about her feels oddly familiar… Her face is flushed, her eyes are barely open, there’s a beer bottle in her hand – but more importantly, a strange baby angel floats next to her head, holding a smiling jug! Is that an entity…? Probably a white flame based on the angel thing. Behind her is an obscured figure you cannot make out thanks to the shadowy alleyway he or she is hiding in.

Out of the blue, the woman manages to propel her body forwards at incredible speed, spurting out a silvery liquid from her feet! Reminds you of the bottle rockets from the last festival… Her propulsion is so strong, the mystery person behind her is bodily launched further into the alley!

But none of that is important. What is important is that the glasses lady will slam into you if you don’t do something.

And something, you do! Just before she collides with you, you jump her using your bike! Even though you never tried this before, maneuvering over a frozen street no less, you clear the flying woman and nail the landing perfectly! The gal on other hand embeds herself into a giant snowbank on the other side of the street, trapping half her body inside! As you pass her by, you catch a glimps of a white flame on her right thigh, right below her ass. Because where else would it be?

You managed to escape big trouble…

(Perfectly landing and showing off your bike skills, plus your neverending display of stamina, grants you +5 Athletics points! Congratulations, you have leveled up to 4!)
>>
>>3272373

With that little problem aside, you arrive at the Lunar Light Amusement Park! A while back when Nina was staying over at your place to study, you gave your two park tickets to Amelia and Nariko to go have fun, and that was when the Hosts of Rebellion attacked the place! Good thing they managed to survive the thugs trying to kidnap them and call you, or you would’ve had someone drive you there to fight! Good times…

The main park gates are closed and aren’t budging. The park itself is enormous, so you can still use your bike to move around in there. With Philonune’s help, you and your bike get inside!

The monster is still following you, but now it’s way behind - more than a few minutes to spare to catch your breath, and come up with the next step of your plan. Hiding from it with the crystal is not an option, but maybe you can find a way to trick it…?

Finally a safe moment. What now?

(70…! That’s a good roll! Nice!)

Well… You’re here. The Ferris Wheel is here too… Why not, right? Hopping back on the bike, you pedal to it!

On your way to the Wheel, you spot signs for…
The Haunted Castle!
The Manic Pixie Dream Theater!
The Lovers’ Gravy Boat!
The Cursed Ship of Dave!
The Airplane Furball!
The Dino Carousel!
The under-budget Circus of Magic (formerly Values)!
The Writer’s Pendulum!
The Broller Coaster!

…It makes you a little bit sad, being here alone with no company — except your constant fallen angel friend, this useless rock that does nothing except tell the giant porcelain skeleton horror exactly where you are, and yourself. Oh, and the kaiju trying to kill you.

The Ferris Wheel is… exceedingly larger than you expected once you get up-close! This one is called… “The Corpse Whisperer.” Who the fuck named this thing?! Well, your great plan ends with you here until you add more to it. You step up to the metal platform, trying to get as close as possible to the cabin at ground level. Leaning the bike against the control panel, you put your back against the cold cabin wall and slide down. This is one break you need to have.

“So we’re going to use this odd machinery to escalate upwards and face the monster on the same level? Not a bad plan if executed correctly, but this isn’t functional. What is it even for? Does it simply rotate in place?” Philonune examines the Ferris Wheel, confused by it. “Using any other building to aid us could potentially put innocents in harm’s way… and this has plenty of places to help us climb…”
“Works for me.” Are you really going to try climbing the wheel and fight the monster here? Whatever you do, there’s space to maneuver around and dodge any attack. Maybe buy yourself time until a new idea comes up, or if you need to make another daring escape…

“Are you telling me this isn’t your idea? Surely you have something under your sleeve.” Philonune stops and faces you, smiling a concerned sort of smile you’d give to someone pretending they’re okay when they’re not. He must have felt your doubts through your link. Was it that obvious?

“I just wanted to come here one more time. That’s all.”
“Why is that?”
“My mother liked Ferris Wheels. Oh, Amelia does too. Guess it’s a family thing.” You smile. Philonune smiles back at you like he always does.

Once the moment passes, a few gentle slaps to your face help to refocus. You’ve wasted enough time moping around! Those marshmallows you ate are the shit; all that running did nothing to tire you out! The field advantage is on your side too, and you don’t have to worry about anyone but that beast getting hurt! Well, except for yourself, but that’s a given.
>>
>>3272757
From here, you can clearly see the demented giant entering the park. She shrieks the unbearable sound once again, as her eyes shine a bright red through the dark red of the Crimzone. With her size and slowness, it will be a matter of minutes before she reaches you…

Johnny Ando Vs. “The Queen Mother of the West” – Seioubo!

You might be talking about me here, actually. Been unable to post in the last few threads, but I read them when I got the chance. Most of the choices made I have no issue with, and this seems somewhat appropriate for a climax. I don't think climbing the ferris wheel is a great idea, but maybe we can beat the shit out of it and running forever doesn't seem too plausible here. If only we had a means of getting backup, or if we told Nina to get Amelia to help put some distance between us and the Queen of Too Many God Damned Vowels In A Row before we fled the scene, but time wasn't really on our side. An interesting idea hits you - maybe the Ferris Wheel can be more than just a tool for remembrance of your family. Philo has a good point, but perhaps you can do something even better…

“We can go all out with one shot. Let’s climb the wheel!” You invoke Philonune next to you. Time to climb! If only you could just ride the Ferris Wheel up, but nothing’s ever easy…
“We better not miss.” Philonune chuckles. His excitement feeds back into you…

Getting to the top of the highest cabin was quite complicated. The cabins are firm enough to avoid swinging under your weight, so that’s a relief. What’s unnerving is the snow and ice on freezing metal, but nothing bad enough for Philonune to slip on. The howling wind bites deeper through your clothes the higher you are. A hundred times where you might’ve slipped and fallen, and your partner wordlessly picks up the slack to carry you even further. Philonune must be used to troublesome battlefields, being on the run for who knows how long… His confidence and yours sync up as you become masters of the largest jungle gym in Pokyo Lokyo!

You reach the 5th highest cabin of the Corpse Whisperer, the one closest to the hulking menace. Thinking on your feet, you slip behind one of the large steel support girders. No point trying to go invisible now. The red light from the Crystal piece makes it difficult to really think you can surprise attack it, but you’re going to try anyway!

The Queen Mother of the West lumbers up to the Ferris Wheel. Its hellish skull hangs below the edge of the cabin. She knows you’re there, and you know she knows you’re there. But despite that, she hesitates for a second to try and spot you in the tangle of metalwork. Maybe you can pull off an ambush after all! With your partner by your side, the best strategy you can come up with is to dive at it with your piercing shining spear! A reckless air attack sure, but not a moment to lose!

You and Philonune vs. a skeleton kaiju!

It’s time!

“GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” Seioubo shrieks in impotence yet again! This is getting old at this point! The beast is engaged at having lost you!
“Do not let go, Johnny. Release and we die.” Philonune whispers one last instruction before you begin.

You hold your partner tight by the neck, and the two of you leap forward against the monster! Holy shit, Philonune can really cover a lot of area! Does being a fallen angel make him keep his flying?

Seioubo tries to repeal your efforts with a skeletal backhand, but its sluggish movements are no match for your blistering speed!

The two of you collide directly into the beast’s shoulder, spear first! A loud crack resonates through the empty amusement park. His weapon tears through the cold armor of the skeleton, piercing into the black fleshy substance beneath. It rears back from the force of the impact, and with an expert twist of Philonune’s spear you hear a second, sickening snap. The arm goes limp and droops towards the ground – you must have broken or dislocated something important!

Philonune dislodges his spear after the beast catches itself from falling backwards. A series of hops and dashes carry the two of you up the length of its dysfunctional arm. Once you mount its shoulder, you skid across the pauldron to a stop. The kaiju’s crimson stare is fixated on the carriage you leapt from, but its neck is unprotected and within easy reach of your partner’s spear!

“What should we do now…?” There is something about this abomination that feels very wrong, outside of it being that way. Its whole left arm has been made useless, but it hasn’t reacted in the slightest…
“Same as with any beast: go for the jugular!” Philonune readies his spear, waiting for your word.
“But it’s a skeleton…” You aren’t that confident about this.

Immediately after your amazing feat, bad news strikes! Something about the beast doesn’t move at snail’s pace! Her hair tentacles dart towards you from multiple angles with surprising speed, but they are quickly dismembered by Philonune’s whirlwind spin! Four of them go down like limp zucchini!

“GAH!” The monster is finally reacting to the pain! Whatever its weird flame kaiju biology is, it doesn’t make it pain immune!

The head finally turns your way, and you’re face to face with a skull out of the darkest nightmares! You only reach up to its nose! What a monster! The beast starts to slowly shake its body in an attempt to throw you off! With Philonune holding the two of you in place, it fails. You have an easy target now, make it count!

B-but is that such a good idea!? Seioubo’s uninjured arm is rising into the air – is she going to try and squish you? You don’t have an escape plan from this high up…

Out of the corner of your eye, a dark cloud is approaching at ludicrous speed…

A dark cloud carrying a bear… and a little sister! It’s Amelia and she’s absolutely FURIOUS!!! She’s making a beeline towards you and the monster! Help is here!

(74…! That’s a Good Roll! Very Nice!)

[7:35 PM]

Everything you have done so far has been successful, so better to not push your luck while you’re ahead! You wave at your sister from the giant pauldron and plead for help! Amelia has known you her whole life, she’ll definitely understand your strange signals!

…Amelia’s expression doesn’t change! Did she even notice you doing hand signs? Either way, she’s rushing the kaiju!

“We have an escape route!” You don’t get an answer, but you’re happy your sister’s here to help!
“We have the beast under control, Johnny! Why run now? Victory is one move away, look at it!” Philonune points right at Seioubo’s neck, still right there in front of you.
“Yeah, I don’t think so. The longer we stay up here the riskier it is. We need to dod-”

The uninjured arm makes its move, falling rapidly with one objective: to crush you into a bloody smear! Philonune leaps forward along the back of the beast’s neck and grabs hold of its armored collar. The violent shaking intensifies. Philo is being whipped back and forth, and you can tell the strain is beginning to wear at him.

You’re starting to get tired too – or maybe that’s just nausea from motion sickness and seeing the ground far below you…

Before the slackening feeling grows any further, you spot Amelia speeding by at torpedo speed, maybe faster! The beast steps back and wildly swings its other arm at your sister! Not cool! Philonune grits his teeth as the two of you ride the momentum and slam into the beast’s back. Amelia and Saraswati smoothly evade the swipe and start circling the beast! The cloud wields some lighting bolts that wouldn’t be out of place in a Saturday morning cartoon. It would be funny if they weren’t shredding near effortlessly through the kaiju. Even then, they only serve to make the beast angrier, spewing a pink mist – and you can feel your hands slipping!

Amelia! Help!” Guess your secret sibling pantomime didn’t help in the slightest!

Amelia finally notices you hanging from the beast’s collar. She changes course towards you, keeping distance but still moving close enough to maybe jump to her cloud. It won’t be easy, the crazed beast keeps flailing back and forth!

The instant Amelia pulls within range, Philonune sets his legs against the monster’s bony back and propels the two of you towards them. Amelia and Saraswati spread their arms to catch you two…!

Thunk

The four of you crash together in midair, launching your impromptu aerial quartet off the other side of the cloud. For an impossible moment you hang suspended in the air, the panicked expression of your sister matching your own, before gravity takes hold again and pulls you down down dooooooown!

Would roll but got here too late. A 74 isn't bad for an easy roll though. I think through talking to her she'll understand, but maybe we should make it a point to suggest teaming up with her more often in the future, just in case.

As your revolutionary midair performance comes to an end and you all fall to your untimely demise, you cannot help but feel a little bit cheated. You could have sworn that cloud was part of Saraswati…

Philonune grabs everyone and valiantly puts himself between you and the ground… Oh god, if only you weren’t this uncoordinated with the only family you have left…

You didn’t listen. Why didn’t you listen? You could have prevented this. You asked for this, and now you can’t stop it…

The fluffy embrace of a new cloud interrupts your inevitable impact with the freezing pavement! Saraswati saved you with her quick thinking! She really is the bear goddess of knowledge, isn’t she? You take a moment to catch your breath as the cloud hovers out of the kaiju’s reach. Noticing you are no longer on its back, the head whips Its head whips towards you. It noticed that you’re no longer on its back!

“Get us out of here!” You yell in your sister’s ear in the excitement! Whoops!
“Seconding this plan!” Saraswati flies her cloud in whatever direction away from the beast. “RAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWR!” The bear bounces in her seat, zooming out of range before another swing can be directed your way!

Wait, is the monster moving faster? Its walk is more fluid than it was before, and the eerie glow in its eyes intensifies. Ominous…

A large tree and some rubble shoot up from the ground towards you! Is this Seioubo’s power? Philonune’s spear deflects the projectiles as you command him to defend the cloud, and as his spear tears through the debris you notice something odd. The objects don’t curve through the air after they fly past you, instead they continue traveling in straight, parallel lines… You wonder, maybe this is a clue about how the monster’s power works?

“Johnny, drop that stupid Crystal! Make it stop chasing us!” A scowling Amelia elbows you hard, snapping you out of your thoughts.
“Don’t!” Saraswati goes against Amelia, leaving her open-mouthed in shock! “The Crystal Pieces are needed for the end of the war! Abandoning it will ruin us!”

“Partner we could have done that way earlier.” Philonune states the obvious. “We’re not giving up the Piece, not after coming this far with it.”

That’s all well and good, but where to next?!

>Tell Amelia to keep flying in any random direction! Saraswati’s cloud is mobile enough to play keep away, but for how long…? [Easy Roll][Courage Based]
>Tell Amelia to fly to the closest Crystal Piece! Maybe you can trick Seioubo into chasing some other poor sap instead of you! [Normal Roll][Knowledge Based]
>Tell Amelia to turn back! With her here, this is a winnable fight! The limbs can be detached, but that doesn’t include decapitation, does it? [Hard Roll][Courage Based]
>Tell Amelia to turn back! Saraswati’s weather powers are tied to her cloud, right? Maybe laying on the snow and ice can help slow this thing… [Hard Roll][Knowledge Based]
>Destroy the Crystal Piece entirely! This will cause Seioubo to stop chasing you, but it might also cause other unsavoury things… [No Roll]
>Write In.

(Last Reply of the day, sorry for the short session. We continue tomorrow though!)

(85…! That’s a Good Roll! Very Nice!)

[7:45 PM]

“Amelia! Fly to the nearest Crystal Piece! I know we can trick Seioubo into chasing an easier target than us!” Better them than you, eh?
“So what then?! We bring a bunch of weirdos when we go back to the clinic?!”
“Who said anything about going back?” Philonune scoffs at your sister, seated behind you on the cloud. “Once we’re free of this burden, our time will be enough for another plan.”

Saraswati looks away from the cloud back towards Philonune. The two otherworldly entities stare each other down for a few moments – but you know he’s won when you feel Philo’s smirk widen by a fraction too small to see. “…The fallen angel is right. We’re going with his plan!” The bear turns away from your smug partner. “Apprentice, do the right thing and I’ll forgive your recent defiance! It’s not far away anyhow, we’ll be fine!”

Amelia glares at you. You channel Poker Night to keep your expression calm in the face of this sisterly rage. “O.K., fine…” Whew, that was too close! Those Poker Nights paid off nicely!

The mute cloud steers towards a new direction! Judging by the visible condensation on its pale cottony forehead, it might be either relieved or tired… Do clouds even have foreheads? Do clouds even have feelings?! Who cares, the next Crystal Piece is just a few miles east from the park! Knowing how Lunar Light usually is, you might have even done people a favor after the Crimzone ends!

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Seioubo shifts her path as well! Changing directions made it easier for Philonune to block and deflect all the upcoming unidirectional attacks until the barrage of miscellaneous park debris ceased. Another good sign: the harsh scarlet glare of the beast’s eyes dissipated! Whatever her power does, it needs to recharge! It’s just like with Icioba’s blackout zone…

“Are you guys sure she just wants a piece and not this piece?” Amelia wonders as you rapidly approach the other piece. You can barely hear her over the icy winds screeching and buffeting your face, but you do! “Because we could be running away for nothing, you know?”

“One, each individual piece is not different from the others. Two, we divinities have put our personal grudges aside for the Crown! Even if the rotted peach holds a grudge against all of us, it wouldn’t matter to her in the end unless she wants every piece for herself. Her gluttony can’t help her carry more than one fragment regardless. We have endured a lengthy siege today, and the Crystal remains fragmented in eight shards! Stop being so stubborn and think, Apprentice!” Saraswati explains her thought process and belittles your sister simultaneously. Ouch!

“Yeah… All of us put our grudges aside…” Philonune’s discomfort resonates through the link as he idly examines his spear. His grudge against The Creator is his only reason for participating after all! But is it yours too?

“…Though to stay safe, we should fly low and converge through the same path as the other piece!” Saraswati indicates the spot further away. The apartments and other buildings block the view, but the ray of light doesn’t lie!
“So she’s holding a grudge, huh…” Amelia mumbles to herself. Whoever the victim of Seioubo’s grudge is, they must be pretty despicable scum! Glad that’s not you!

A few minutes of masterful flying passes in peaceful quiet. You’ve been on the cloud only a few times now, and you never had much opportunity to witness your city from a bird’s eye view. The snow blanketing everything in sight, combined with the oppressive rust red preventing complete darkness… Pokyo Lokyo doesn’t feel real. Power from another world forcing itself into this one… It hadn’t fully hit you until you saw the scope of it, until now. Even so, you’re still not entirely sure how to feel about this here, flying through endless snow and shaky gales at speeds faster than a car, and at a dizzying height several floors above the tallest apartments…

Then the building where the Crystal Piece is located comes into view, abruptly interrupting your trains of thought! Some say it’s the jewel of the capital, but those same people are usually waist-deep in debt and suffer an infamous gambling addiction known throughout the nation! It’s the one, the only… Pokyo Lokyo Ka-Shino!

And right there on the ground, on the massive white-coated parking lot fit for hundreds and hundreds of cars, the false eclipse’s laser singling him out, is none other than… Flint Masterson!

And he’s not alone.

Sadly this is all we have for this week’s thread! Thanks for playing!
