So this is how it happens, one moment you hold the power to change nature itself, the next you are sealed away behind a seal intended to keep you in this void for the next 5,000 years. Thankfully your powers allow you to sustain yourself in this Pale Orange Nothing, surely they didn't think you so foolish as to not prepare for the worst outcomes? An insult surely....

"What an annoyance"

The phrase echoed strangely, like you were talking into a cave that never stayed the same size. In fact this whole... Void? Was strange, with thick air that you could swim in that spanned forever, the key feature a large door with the symbol of a spiral inside a diamond, orbited by a coiling chain that softly clinked as moved. You recall falling through the doorway and being sealed in here, though now it doesn't show any locks or handles...

You rub your sore forehead, feeling the shattered Soul Gem and holes where your Sigil of Teleportation had been marked on your hands. Without them you are limited in your abilities, having to rely on your strength and less refined magic if you hope to do anything. Damn those "Heros", you will show all of Zalterra what a mistake it was to let you bide your time!

You will make them all pay, or your name isn't---!

(choose a title/name for the Dark Lord, as well as one of the shown actions)

[] Curse the band of fools who sent you here! (this will give you a selection of beings that banished you to this empty plane)

[] Create a keep fit for one of your standing! Tall towers and a throne room, complete with a extravagant kings quarters to rest your head.

[] Summon a lair to concentrate your awesome power! Twisted spires and a Warlock's library complete with your collection of alchemic items!

His name is lost to time. He would tell you but frankly it's been so long that he's forgotten entirely, so instead he just used whatever names his enemies gave him.

>Create a keep fit for one of your standing! Tall towers and a throne room, complete with a extravagant kings quarters to rest your head.
>Summon a lair to concentrate your awesome power! Twisted spires and a Warlock's library complete with your collection of alchemic items!

Or your name isn't Azurka! Lord of the Dark Magics, King of Destruction, and other such titles given to you by mere men!

You concentrate, feeling a low burning coming from your hands as a whip of purple energy slowly fills in the shape of your keep. A turret on every corner, a grand hall with a vaulted ceiling that leads into a throne room, and a separate level with a wing for your chambers!
You even attempt a small garden like the one you had when you were a child those many moons ago.

As you lower your hand to shut off the magic it unfortunately all goes a bit strange, as the approximation of twisting vines and strange shrubs set themselves into the masonry, and the windows feature accents appearing as teeth and gazing eyes, all set inside a organic stonework.

"Even the most basic magic is tainted here it seems"

You say with a sigh as you feel your body sag from the effort, it feels like you lifted each of these "stones" by hand! Slowly you make your way to your chambers, thankfully the bed itself seemed fine.

Not so much for the rooms of your modest keep, each of the rooms had oddly curved walls and adornments that grew out of the stone "flesh" of the castle, while your Warlock's Library "blossomed" out of a room covered in a thicket of vines, the cauldron and work tables adorned with leafy accents.

"Later, later I shall worry about this" You say to yourself as you drag yourself into your bed, sleeping deeply for the first time since you heard of the Heros who would eventually seal you here.

You awake what feels like days later, the pale orange void staring back at you with the same color and light it did since you entered here. Is it still the same day? or does this plane truly have nothing, not even moons or suns?

You push the thought away, you can properly ponder the properties of this place after we accrue our instruments of revenge. And maybe get ourselves some means of food, water, even servants or an army if this rust colored hell won't pervert such things.

You head out of your chambers and to the entrance of your "garden", though it seems more just a section of muddy purple dirt, at least you know why the castle has so many plant adornments...

[] Attempt to summon plants you know to grow in poor soil from Zalterra ( roll 1d10 )

[] Maybe you must grow them from seeds? It would certainly fit the odd rules of this place... Attempt to summon seeds (roll 1d10 )

[] How dare this place spit out my gifts? Certainly I can bend it to my will (write in a weather effect, Roll 1d10)

[] Create plants of your own! Maybe they will survive this strange place (This will open a selection of traits for your first crops)

[] Summon a servant to tend to the garden, a Lord like you can't waste their time on ungrateful dirt (this will open up a selection of traits for your minion)

Ah yes, what is a Lord without those to command? The claws on your hand shine a bright plum as you rend a hole into this void, a lump of mass slowly rolls out of it, growing various limbs and facial features as you will it into its new form.

After the flesh stops bubbling and shifting the creature before you looks at your face first with a sense of fear, then confused familiarity as it kneels before you.

Not quite what you expected, the minion before you possesses...

[] Eight limbs, like some large arachnid

[] Vicious claws atop 4 stubby fingers and toes, as well as a dewclaw of sorts on both its wrist and ankle

[] Multiple sets of large glassy eyes in many colors that sit all over its face

[] Hindquarters like that of a goat or pig, low to the ground with cloven hoofs with four legs

[] Large drooping ears and a flared nose that comes with a small fleshy horn in the center

[] Glittering scales that lay atop one another like chainmail

[] A meaty tail as long as its body, complete with a crocidilian head

[] Two crab claws on the face, they both appear to be separate mouths

[] Write in

The diminutive creature looked at you with its multi-color eyes, reflecting the light from your spell as the summoning portal closed. Its body glittered dully as it moved to better face you, awaiting orders.

"hh, how may I address, summoner?" The creature croaked out, still in a pose of deference, it could probably smell the magic on you, as most creatures of their nature can.

"Addresss me as Lord and no less minion, I have plans for you" You say, trying to ignore the ache in your hand as you gesture to the expanse around you both

"I need you to shape this land for crops, care for the withering plants, and cultivate this land to feed a Lord and his people Vargunn"

You see the creature's--- Vargunn's, eyes widen slightly, it is not unheard of for summoned creatures to be given names, but it is certainly rare for one of their stature.

"Of course my lord!" Vargunn hastily bows and trots excitedly to one of the dead saplings in the ground, breaking it and fashioning it into a makeshift Hoe.
Seems this plane allows its creatures a greater sense of problem solving skills and adaptation to their surroundings...

---

You watch from the castle's entrance to the garden, your Hedge Knight working tirelessly to till and shape the land into proper soil for all kinds of plants, and even a small orchard and hanging garden (you assume at least, so far it is just evenly spaced mounds of dirt)

"Still so much to do" You think to yourself, even if the land is ready there is no water, and no proper sun or seasons for growing!

And even if you solve those problems you still have the issue of what to grow, servants to help harvest and tend to the fields. And even if you know some cooking there lacks a proper kitchen or such equipment, not to mention keeping your keep tidy!

"I think I might need to start writing this down" You muse to yourself, you had forgotten what it felt like to be so busy!

You always had a few trusted minions look after such aspects, though in retrospect it did allow for those cursed -Heros- such easy access to your chain of command...
You think you will be more involved in your domain this time around, speaking of you should probably set to do at least one more task for the day, before your body tires from so much magic use.

[] Summon a small river and lake next to your garden and keep, at least you won't have to worry about being thirsty

[] Use your magic to encourage growth of the few surviving plants ( Roll 1d20, 8+ to succeed)

[] Create a gardener's cabin for Vargunn, complete with living and sleeping quarters, as well as a shed to the side containing all matter of tools for working the land

[] Attempt to create a light rain to water the garden, from what you can remember about weather magic (Roll 1d20, 15+ to succeed)

[] Familiarize yourself with the layout of your keep, and use the last of your magic to put in a kitchen or other such rooms

Lets get the agriculture going

You lift your hand in a upward motion, the earth you created moving with it to create a wide and deep ditch, complete with sandy banks and rocks. The ditch's ground splits, emitting what appears as a column of steam which rises higher and higher forming soft cumulus clouds followed by a deep blue water that fills the large basin at the rivers end.

"Come here Vargunn, I think its time you took a break" You can't help but say it in a chiding tone, as you motion the piles of soil by the lake's basin into a admittedly charming one-room cabin, with a small shed for storage of course.
You feel a soft wind as you go to inspect the few remaining plants, a couple saplings, and a sad bush that barely stays green; time to see if those old druidic tomes were useful reading after all...

(Rolled a 14, successfully used Growth Magic)

Your claws grow a deep green as you brush the few remaining leaves, which seem to lift slightly at your touch. The land shifts beneath you as the saplings grow into tall - if thin- trees, complete with small fruit pods. Strangely the bush seems to skitter as it grows, moving itself with small vines so as to sit in the most available light, producing odd blooms of purple and red. Seems this place still has a few tricks, might be a good idea to keep an eye on that.

---

As you leave Vargunn to their station, you find your muscles aching, so much so it is difficult to even navigate to your bed. You hear a slight patter of rain as you close your chamber door, odd, you don't recall casting that spell...
You fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillows, you will worry about such things later

cont
>>
You awake to the patter of rain still hitting the roof of your castle, it seems to be a bit harder then yesterday, Vargunn will definitely be having difficulties with their duties.
Throwing on a embroidered cloak to protect you from the rain, you stand on the look out from your chambers, the orangish grey "sky" foggy with rain. The trees turning your mere garden into a ever slowly growing field, twice its size from yesterday, Vargunn is running about, placing stakes and digging trenches for excess water drainage, seems like they fashioned a cloak out of one of their soil bags...

You look about over the kingdom you have, your keep is dusty, and the outside glistens with rain and the beginning tendrils of creeping vine. Your mind wanders back to Zalterra and you recall the vow you, Azurka, made when you woke up in this place less than 4 days ago. If a army is what you seek, you must get soilders, and for them you must have food, armors, beasts, and war-machines; not to mention the resources needed to keep them moving..
You make a mental note to get servants to clean, lest your keep crumble into disrepair, so much to do...

[] You could summon one minion, surely you could summon some servants to clean up this place! (Shows list of servant jobs and summon-able races)

[] For solders you need citizens, you recall in your Library and Alchemist's Quarters multiple rituals and spells to conjure creatures and beings of all kinds. (Shows list of races, or you could make your own)

[] A grand city cannot be brought up solely on fruits and vegetables! Vargunn will not be that busy until harvest, surely you can brew a creature or two for them to watch over... (Shows list of creatures or if you choose, ingredients to make your own)

[] If a grand army is the game, first you will need land to raise it! You must set up a ritual to bring about a greater kingdom than this measly plot of land! (Goes to the Warlock's Library and lists conjure-able biomes)

You step into the library, minding the sharper of the thicket styled adornments on the supports and shelves. You keep walking forward, to the stairway leading to the walkways above the first level, and into a large nook overseeing the entire library, dominated by a built in cauldron decorated by several mythical beasts of old. You see dust-motes scatter as you prep or alchemy station, moving various beakers and dried ingredients, surely you recall seeing the book around somewhere.

You hear a soft flutter and turn to the lectern that faces the cauldron, "Wilde's Rite and Contract" lay facing you, nice to see that the old magic in these books still has a flare for the dramatic.
Taking care to be gentile with the old papers, you flick to the rituals passage, of which all manner of things can be asked for: Putting oneself in good graces with authority, gold, women or men, curses to place upon your enemies and blessings for allies, all sorts of the usual drek that wizards and adventurers seek.

You have several options here, and after making a simple map of all your current holdings you see that most of them might actually be viable!

( You have a mostly blank map, with your keep in the center and the field to your west, both of which are cradled by the river that runs from one lake to the north-east to a basin at the south, you will have to choose a location and biome you wish to call upon)

(You will have to roll a 1d20 and choose a location on the map for your biome, a 10+ is a success)

[] Surely a mighty mountain surrounded by hills will allow for ores and gems!

[] A deep forest to grow and find exotic crops, and also a steady supply of lumber!

[] Travel is so much easier without rocks or trees, a huge sprawling plains of which contain a wide swift river will give more than enough space!

[] Towering cliffs will be easy shelter, and allow for much building material!

[] A rolling sea allows easy food collection, with beaches for clay and sand for firing

You take a look through the large stained glass windows, looking to the breaking clouds at the northwest. Yes, a natural extention of your fields and crops! You flip to the correct ritual, keeping mind the age of the pages, and stop upon a great circular rune

--

After the rain cleared, you walked to the ever slowly expanding edge of your kingdom, beckoning Vargunn to follow.

"What do you have in mind my Lord?" Vargunn says, a haddock slung upon their back.

"How much experience do you have with tilling Vargunn?" You say looking at a copy of the rune, it is a series of branching lines encased by a triangle, which is bordered by a larger circle.

--

Its been hours, you carving the interior of the rune while Vargunn works on prepping the outside. You sit on the ground with legs crossed and palms planted firmly downwards.

"Keep an eye on the north Vargunn, and shout if something goes strange" You hear Vargunn trot out of the rune, sounding worried for your safety"

You feel your hands slowly become icy as the ritual drains your magic, then your arms and chest... You slow your breathing, making sure to not fall into the magic.

The sound of groaning wood and leaves cause a cacophony in the distance as the ground to the north and west rumble and shift with the quickly growing roots. The sound continues for many minutes, becoming slightly off as the sound becomes fainter and fainter, you open your eyes to a great swath of trees and greenery; of which become twisted and sway oddly the further in you look...

You hear Vargunn hopping back to you, their scales clattering as they make sure to not touch the live runes.

"You look like you were about to pass out! Are you alright?" Vargunn places a hand on you, and you hear their breath hitch as they realize they probably shouldn't be acting so casually with you.

You place your hand on theirs before they can take it away, giving it a reassuring pat... its so much smaller than yours, like a child's

"I'm quite alright thank you for your concern, now help me off to bed, I've become quite tired" Vargunn pulls you up to your feet and you both walk back into your castle, Vargunn not leaving until they are sure you need nothing else for the day..

You look out the windows from your bed, and you realize it actually seems to be darker than when you awoke, maybe there is a sun in this strange place...

You awaken, the slight darkness in the air appears to have gone, leaving the same dull orange you are used to.

Five days, its been five days in this strange eternity, and already your forests and fields and rivers are growing, flowing, and acting so very alive, more so than you recall even on Zalterra...

You get dressed into something practical, knowing there are still so many things to do and you sit at the head of the table in your grand hall.

"M-morning Lord Azurka, how are you feeling?" Vargunn says shakily, you get a sense they are testing the waters with their conduct towards you. Honestly seeing them act so aloof is strangely adorable.

You can't help but chuckle. "I'm doing much better than you left me, tell me, how did you learn my title? I don't recall telling you" You flick your ear to shoo away some of the dust in the air, you really do need to get some maids at the very least...

"A.. ahn, I heard you talking strangely in your sleep, and I wanted to make sure you didn't give yourself a fever sitting on the cold wet ground my Lord! I swear I didn't mean any insult--" You wave a hand dismissively at the notion, glancing down at your knight as you rearrange the ink and quills you have collected to update your map.

"I do not insult so easily, it was mere curiosity... Tell me, how goes the crop? Any progress or delays?" You ask, you saw some progress yesterday, but forgot to actually check proper.

"Oh of course- of course!" Vargunn places what appear to be fruits on the table, each looking different from what you recall such plants being.
A spiral shaped pepper coloring from black to red, a apple that turns into a flowering shape, dark purple in coloration, and a bunch of triangular sprouts that grow in small green bunches.

"I will say, the small green ones are particularly tasty, if a bit on the sour side" Vargunn says smiling, they seem very excited and expectant of what your opinion is.

--

You wave a purple hand over the items, each glowing faintly as your mind beings to understand the alchemical makeup of these strange fruits.

The spiraled pepper contains a magical boosting property in concentrated doses, but ingested normally just results in a mild energizing sensation to compound its... difficult taste

You expected the floral fruit to be promising but it appears to just be useful as a filler, good for padding out meals you suppose.. at least the stem has a slight peppery element, a good kick for anybody ailed by a cold or flu

Now these... strange triangular fruits, they are interesting, each small fruit contains a tiny bit of a healing oil contributing to their sour taste

"Very interesting, thank you Vargunn these will prove quite useful, keep the mothers of these healthy" You see Vargunn straighten and salute before heading back to the fields, the small taps of their claws echoing down the hall as you turn back to your task list

You are going to need a name for those plants... or at least a moniker to record them by for research

(Your inventory now has one of each of these fruits, don't forget to come up with a name for them)

---

You look down at a paper full of suggestions as you tap your quill idly on the backside of the journals cover, what to do with the rest of the day?

[] The dust and dirt is getting worse by the day, I really need to make some servants

[] We may have rations, but you and your knight alone won't be able to prepare or use all of them before they go to waste. Maybe it is time to consider what your citizens will be...

[] Maybe it is time to experiment with beasts and livestock, after all you have a sizable kingdom, what is the point of leaving it so lifeless?

You file away the fruits by the names Mana-twist (The Spiral pepper), Purple-plenty (the Blooming plant), and Oillbest (the strange triangular bunches) into your journals, keeping each of the specimens in a safe pocket to avoid any messy accidents.

"Blasted dust, soon I will be rid of you." You huff to yourself as you wipe away a thin layer off of your book of contracts. You leave it open on a table and leaf through the contents to see if anything catches your eye. You know several by name, as you used to have contact with them before you took the title of Lord, it has certainly been a while though, and you aren't quite sure how they would react to you now.

[] Guile Dawn, a twin headed snake-folk with a tendency towards sarcasm, the heads always spoke in unison, and his legs were never more than to keep him eye level with you while talking. You know him to work well for any job requiring advising or being a supervisor.

[] A minion that you never called by a name, they had a similar stature to Vargunn though had a appearance more like a small bear with a Saytr's lower half. Their strength helped to tame even the roughest beasts.

[] A wiry human man with long pale hair and a strange gaze, the books don't give him a name but it says that he is one of the best servants to summon. He is very soft spoken and able to get to hard to reach places far too easily.

[] The picture shows what appears to be a lamp-post with large flags and feet cast in the shape of claws, you realize after a closer look it is a mimic that according to your book "has a keen knowledge of blacksmithing and a pleasant personality". Though if you allow yourself a joke the only personality you see in their "bulb" is dim at best, so to speak.

[] A elven woman with a braid of red hair dressed in typical servants garb modified for flexiblity, contains a vast array of general knowledge and a strange desire to be a test subject for their summoner.

[] A Mantid dressed in what you can only describe as old-fashioned maid's attire, the book says she is one of the more sociable and attentive of the servant summons.

[] A humanoid entity with horns that curve down and away from the face in a tight spiral, with a deep purple complexion and claws. The face looks like a bone colored mask with sharp teeth and glowing pupils in a dark socket (similar to your own), and a specialty in cooking.

Alright, after looking through the ones with the highest votes and dice rolling for the rest we have-

- The Mantis Woman dressed as a Maid, will take care of all cleaning and fetching of items in your Keep
Names suggested are Ingrid or Seija (Potentially Seigrid if there is just a desire to combine the two given names)

-The wiry human man with long pale hair that has not had a name suggested yet, will act as a personal butler and bodyguard

-The purple entity with claws, horns and mask-like skull face with glowing eyes, who would be your head chef and take care of all cooking duties until more help arrives
The Name suggested was Orale

-The lamp-post mimic with a large flame where the bulb should be, they are very skilled with smithing but also dabble in wood-working, and will help with everything from weapons to buildings

Is there any desire to change their station? Or maybe get a more detailed description of their appearance and personality?

Seigrid, is a 7'3'' (220.0 cm) mantid woman, her body is a pleasantly light green that turns to a brownish red at her extremities, both of which accent her yellow-green eyes. Most of her height is in her legs, with her thorax ending just before where her ankles would be. Her larger set of arms display the more traditional mantid look, long sickles with a set of claws that stick out near the end nearly touching the floor while her smaller arms are far more human-like ending in four (4) dexterous clawed fingers. Her outfit of choice is a traditional black and white maid outfit modified for her body, usually accented with small decorative pins or flowers.

She is very friendly, and thanks to her height she is very good at her job, leaving her lots of free time. When she isn't working she prefers to spend time outside or helping in the garden, as she loves to work with her hands and take in the sights of nature.

After browsing you find out the human man's name is Ivo Ward, which you swear can't be his real name, then again you can't really find any others... He stands at 5'9'' (175.2 cm) with a wiry build, complete with blonde hair that sits below the shoulders, most of it pulled away from his face into several braids. His most common outfit is a tailored black butler suit with a deep orange undershirt and gloves, both of which match his eyes.

Ivo's personality seems lacking, preferring to only speak in short sentences and spending most of his time learning new subjects in the library. When he does speak in a more casual manner it comes across as timid and unintentionally blunt, a exact opposite of his movements which move with a practiced smoothness and efficiency.

Orale's sits right between Seigrid and Ivo at 6'6'' (198.12 cm), with plum skin and clawed, five fingered hands. You see his legs are shaped similar to some large lizard, as well as his tail that ends in a spade-like point. His mask like face contains rows of sharp teeth and a literal silver tongue, as well as yellow colored pupils that sit in dark sockets; which actually seem to change in size depending on his mood. His outfit is a dark red long sleeved chef uniform with rolled sleeves and black pants, over which sits a white knee-high apron.

Orale talks with a gravelly voice that matches his perpetually aggravated state, often being blunt to the point of rude even when not trying to be. That being said when not working he maintains a aloof attitude, preferring to spend time alone when not perfecting recipes for both food and alchemy.

The lamp-post, whose name appears to be Phase according to what you can get from them, towers at 8'10'' (269.2 cm) with most of their height being in the metallic pole that bends in strange angles when bending over or moving. A closer inspection shows the flags are actually large colorful sections of navy and gold linen-like flesh, and their "base" appears to have their true mouth that takes the shape of seemingly decorative fang motifs on their front. The lamp look is completed by their "eyes" which appear as two light colored spots on the burned glass, which flicker in a flame-like manner. (All of these look surprisingly ordinary when Phase stands still, often to Phase's delight as they seem to enjoy playing the occasional prank)

Their personality is very excitable and restless, getting sucked into tasks for hours at a time, when not working they are out exploring and experimenting with new materials in the forge.

(you can leave comments and discuss about the characters/possible interactions- I'm gonna be pretty busy with work for a bit here)

(also I have archived the thread Here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Behind+the+Door+Quest and will do my best to have a picture of all these new characters for visual reference)
