(Welcome back friends! If I remember correctly we had two rolls of 18 [DUBS] for the actions of training, and looking for work around the compound. I will likely make this first post, and maybe one update before sleeping. Firstly though, a nice poem.)

Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind.
Because your lover threw wild hands toward the sky
And the affrighted steed ran on alone,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

Hoarse, booming drums of the regiment,
Little souls who thirst for fight,
These men were born to drill and die.
The unexplained glory flies above them,
Great is the battle-god, great, and his kingdom—
A field where a thousand corpses lie.

Do not weep, babe, for war is kind.
Because your father tumbled in the yellow trenches,
Raged at his breast, gulped and died,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

Swift, blazing flag of the regiment,
Eagle with crest of red and gold,
These men were born to drill and die.
Point for them the virtue of slaughter,
Make plain to them the excellence of killing
And a field where a thousand corpses lie.

Mother whose heart hung humble as a button
On the bright splendid shroud of your son,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

>18 for Training, and work (DUBS)

You return to the base with Cujo in tow, the large dog happily trailing behind you. Reaching the front palisade, you are welcomed inside warmly.

Cujo at first is apprehensive of the throngs of people at the gate, but with gentle pat on his head with the back of your claws he seems to calm. Though he growls the second anyone goes to touch him.

"Watch yourself, I picked him up from Hookwolf's old dog ring." You say to one army jacket wearing Merchant.

The man takes it in good humor. "Well it's not like the lil beastie will hurt you any." He digs his hand into his pocket and removes a piece of jerky.

Cujo's eyes are locked onto the small morsel like the sights of Navy Seal ready to shoot a small Iraqi child with a grenade. His hind end lowers to the ground as he prepares to jump.

The man seeing this, quickly throws the jerky. Cujo jumps into action, and leaps into the air with bark. The jerky is no more.

"I'd say the dog fits the master eh?" The Merchant says before you all let out a great laugh.

"Hey, tell Mush I want him to gather up some men. I want to get some training in."

"Sure thing Famine!"

The man jogs off.

Before too long Mush, the man, and a crowd of readied men approach you. You begin a drill of team exercises, medical techniques, and proper firing. The many former military members are a great boon.

>Causalities taken by a Merchant Fighting group in a single round of combat will not exceed over half. (No more instakills for troop v.s. troop battles, Capes change things)

Red walks up to you as you stand in front of the men watching them practice tourniquets, push-ups, and trigger discipline.

"Glad to see you're back man. Say, want to get some boys together to help fix up those shitty sniper nests we made earlier?"

"Sure thing." You say. You let Mush know that you're taking off and he jumps into the position of drill sergeant. In this case, getting into a Merchant doing push-ups and repeatedly screaming "ZERO!" every time the Merchant completes the exercise.

The construction crews move quickly with your aid and instruction, and before long what was a ramshackle shack built into the bridge of the long dead freighters are now killboxes.

Now that I took the time to carefully read this, The kilt/dearskin pants would be hard to come by on short notice, and might look weird on a 14ft monster cape. Not to mention where we would even find a deers or a person that sells dear hides. The Feathers and paint though is easily manageable.

While you are not a Thinker, you can see the problem before it will occur. There will be times that you will not be able to take Cujo with you now, and he needs to be acclimatized that not everyone is out to hurt him.

As you bring him to your room in the Freighter, Cujo is overwhelmed with all the sights, sounds, and smells. He growls at people if they get within 2 feet within him. One man goes to pet him, and if it was possible for a dog to glare daggers Cujo definitely does it. The large dogs ears go back and his hackles rise. The man wisely pulls his hand back.

"What am I gonna do about you?" You say inside the comfort of your room. Cujo cocks his head and barks.

"You know what I mean, listen these people are my family... my pack, you know? They wouldn't hurt you." You say as you pet the huge dog.

You claws come back red from the blood stained into his fur. A sigh escapes your jaws.

"Lets get you a bath alright." Cujo happily prances around the room.

One metal tub, suds, and a lot of laughing as the dog shakes off the water and soap in the middle of the bath; Cujo is new dog.

You set your mind to condition him to at least not snap at people that walk too close too him. You call 20 men to a what could be called a lounge in the hull. Cujo appears confused and somewhat tense.

"Alright guys... Cujo came from a dog-fighting ring. We're gonna find a way to get him to used to all of you that way I can leave him here safely." You get a few chuckles at the name of your new pooch.

First you have the men hand you jackets, spare shirts, etc. and lay them before Cujo.

The dog sets about sniffing the pile of clothes and roots through them. He sits down upon the ground behind the pile. You order one of the guys to move forward and get close, but not to touch the dog.

The man takes a few steps forward, and Cujo let's him get within 3 feet before growling loudly.

Red walks in, and seemingly notices what you are trying to do. He looks at the Merchant that approached, who currently has his hands in the air backing up slowly.

"Say Tim, you got your piece on you man?" Red asks.

"Hell yeah man, the hell you think?" Tim says shakily. Red shakes his head in amusement.

"I had a dog when I was a lil shit. You could point a nerf gun, an unloaded gun, but the second you had loaded gun on you the dog would go nuts. I read some shit that's its about an unconscious threat display or something. Dogs are tuned into that shit. Cujo is gun shy."

Tim slowly pulls out his pistol, upon Cujo begins barking madly. He quickly sets it upon the ground. Cujo immediately goes silent.

Within a second Cujo is upon the man, slobbering his face while Red laughs uncontrollably.

You spend the rest of the morning having Red and a few of the boys gather some supplies to have you all 'Tribaled' up for the meeting. It could be better, but is impressive considering you look like you came out of an A-list Hollywood movie.

Red- "Lung acts much like his namesake. He will happily conquer if he sees weakness, but is content to rest upon his loot when pickings are slim. You and Red pick a large, polished SUV to head to the meeting with. The car's engine roars as you send gravel skittering when you pull out of the lot of the Graveyard, and pull down the largely empty streets of the North Docks.

"We've gotta head through Downtown to get the the Downtown Coast, where the casino is. We'll be passing through a small strip that the PRT patrols, so keep your head down man."

"No problem." You watch the highrises grown as you get closer to Downtown, where the corporate building of Medhall towers over the smaller offices. The bright red cross upon the mirrored surface of the skyscraper contrasts against the cloudy, blue sky. Traffic clogs the streets as commuters rush about going on lunch break, work, and make a general hell of life. A PRT van crosses the intersection, and you quickly duck down.

"We're clear, man." Says Red after going a few blocks down.

In about 15 minutes you have reached the Downtown Coast. The buildings here vary largely. Collections of housing projects cluster the outskirts, built after the sinking of Kyushu to house the influx of Japanese refugees. Closer to the center of the preceinent, Asian styled villas, townhouses, and apartments take rule. Cherry blossoms line the sidewalks of the nicer districts. Children too young for school run through the streets at play. Red turns down a long drive that has very few buildings surrounding it, and the entire street is shadowed by tall Japanese Maples.

At the front of the Casino, which seems to be open even now, there are two paths. One leads off to the left of the building and a sign states "Standard Parking" in English, Chinese, and Japanese. The other carries on to the front of the building, where a roundabout with several men in suits at the front of the lavish entrance stand guard. The sign reads "VIP".

Red looks at you and cracks a wild grin. "I don't know about you man, but I say we are Very Fucking Important People." You give a laugh and nod your agreement.

As Red continues forward, you are somewhat impressed. The front of the Ruby Dreams Casino is decorated with a glittering tiled walkway with a literal red carpet leading to highly decorated wooden doors. Lining the VIP entrance are golden statues of eastern dragons in symmetrical poses on each side.

Say what you will about Lung, his tastes may be tacky, but he sticks to a theme.

Red pulls up to the door side of the roundabout, and the many men straighten. One approachs Red's door. The man has his hair pulled back into a tight ponytail, and appears to be in his 40's.

"Hello sir, welcome to the Ruby Dreams Casino. Please present your VIP pass." He says stiffly, but courteously as Red rolls down the window.

Red throws a thumb your way. "My friend here has a meeting."

The guard looks into the back, and notices you. His eyebrows rise. "Hai, thank you for being early Famine-san. Please follow me inside, Lung-sama will be pleased with your punctuality. Please ask your acquaintance to take the left after making the roundabout again to head to valet parking."

You clamber out of the side of the SUV, and tower over the men in front of you. Your feet click upon the tiles. Two of the men at the large doors open them for you.

The entrance foyer has large traditional Chinese and Japanese tapestries lining the walls, the entirety of inside is designed to imitate the insides of a palace. You are led down the long hallway, going up an extended staircase as you do so. At the end lies another door with two more guards that move to open it for you.

You find yourself on the 3rd floor of the 3 storied building. On the ground floor small groups of people mill about at the slots, and the blackjack/poker table. The 2nd floor seems to be a bar/ restaurant. While the floor you are currently one is excessive enough to make King Midas faint.

The men lead you down a small hall, and opens the door to a medium sized room. Inside is a long dining table with two chairs at each end.

"Lung-sama will be along shortly. Please have a seat or do as you wish. Remain here in this room please however."

The room has a large television on one wall, and upon the other is a full wall tapestry of one man in a robe running from another in armor.

You take a seat in the large, almost recliner-like chair. The other is exactly like it.

There is a door at the other end of the room.

The table is decorated with full silverware on each side, glasses, and plates. The table cloth is embroidered with several different symbols.

Is been a while since we had a sort of flash back. The one with the boat and sister. I wonder if Famine was Japanese or possibly someone Red used to know.
>>
You stare at the painted cloth. The armored man's expression is one of determination, and focus. The robed man's expression is one of rage, pain, and loss. His eyes seem to shine with unshed tears and his mouth is open wide as if in the act of furiously shouting while he runs. In the background two groups of men rage against each other, spilling their blood upon the ground.

The door on the other end of the room opens quietly. A man in a butler's uniform enters first, wheeling in a meal cart. Behind him enters a towering man in a dress suit, wearing a steel dragon mask upon his face.

"Lung." You say.

"Famine." He says, his voice a low drawl, set with a strong accent. His speaking voice could be described as the scraping of a coal-shovel upon a concrete factory floor.

He turns towards the tapestry while the butler sets the table.

"The Honno-ji Incident." He states.

"Care to explain it to me?" You ask with a turn of your head.

He chuffs out a laugh. "Gladly, firstly though; steak, fish, or pork?"

"Steak."

"Good man. Early in the morning June 21, 1582, Oda Nobunaga was attacked and killed while staying at the Honno-ji Temple in Kyoto by an army of men led by his trusted general and childhood friend, Akechi Mitsuhide. By 1582, Nobunaga had swept through the entirety of Central Japan, and sent out his generals across the land to expand. Nobunaga was celebrating the destruction of an enemy by touring his recently conquered land of the Kansai region. Suddenly a request for reinforcements came from his general Hideyoshi who was laying siege to a castle. Nobunaga ordered Akechi Mitsuhide to assist." Lung spits out Akechi's name with vitriol.

"Nobunaga rarely placed trust in his generals, however Mitsuhide was the first of his samurai to be awarded a castle. It was from this castle that Mitsuhide gave his men the orders to march upon Kyoto, telling his men 'The Enemy is in the Honno-ji'. Akechi marched his 13'000 men to Kyoto where Nobunaga was staying with 70 guards in the temple. Hopelessly outnumbered, and wounded by his once trusted friend, Nobunaga retreated to the inner sanctum of the temple in anger and despair; setting the hall alight, Nobunaga committed seppuku at the age of 48 years."

Lung turns to you with blazing red eyes.

"The betrayal shocked the land. Akechi claimed the title of Shogun based on his blood, and he expected little opposition to his coup. Hideyoshi, quickly and peacefully resolved the situation with the Mori, and relocated his army at a breakneck pace. Within four days he traveled miles, and caught Mitsuhide by surprise. Two hours after starting, the traitor's army was destroyed. While escaping the disaster of a battle, Mitsuhide was killed by a group of peasants wielding bamboo staves, at the age of 54 he was a self-proclaimed Shogun for all of thirteen days. Now the question is, what does that tell you?"

"I will not say no, but do you perhaps have blood. I have special tastes. " You say, looking level at due to your height.

Lung looks surprised, but then chuckles. He fills half the glass with champagne, and with one motion, splits his wrist with your steak knife. His blood fills the crystal container.

His eyes glow radiantly, and the gash heals in a second. He walks down to his end of the table, sits down, and removes the cover on his meal. You do the same.

The meal is small. A piece of bread at the end, a middle portion of vegetables, and several square chunks of meat at the right side.

"Kobi beef. Current import cost is $450/lb from the Hyōgo Prefecture." He twists a fastening at the jaw of his mask, and the mouth of the dragon opens. He pops a square of the beef into his mouth and chews. "I must admit, I prefer Western utensils, far more efficient."

You use your claws as impromptu chopsticks, and place a square into your maw. The flavor sweeps through your palette as you chew. Gingerly grasping the glass, you tilt a small portion of your drink into your mouth. The blood is thick, rich, and bubbly due to the champagne.

Lung tilts his chair back, pulls out a cigar and lights it with a snap; flame jumping to life at the end of his thumb.

"Famine, I must admit, I have been impressed immensely with your performance. You lead the Merchant's competently, and slaughter well. I see a good bit of myself in you." He lets out a puff of smoke at the end of each sentence.

"This is not some sort of recruitment pitch? Is it?"

"Oh no, I have no desire to have tempt you to jump ship. Besides, what good is a traitor as a follower. No... I desire something different. Your power."

"What?" You ask in shock.

"I am willing to offer 4 months of peace, a truce if you will. A cease fire will be far more accurate. We will stick to our own territory, and so forth. That is the time my accountants have estimated it will take for my new lands to be brought fully into the fold."

"You said you wanted my power, what do you mean by that?"

"By the end of these 4 months, however... I seek to fight you." His eyes blaze yellow. "Even now the idea of such a battle brings fire to my blood. All I ask is for you to refrain from your little scream trick. I want a worthy fight once more. When I saw you slaughtering the Empire, I felt a feeling I have not felt since I battled Leviathan; the yearning for a battle against another beast." His eyes grow in intensity as he speaks, and his body seems to go rigid. The shoulders of his suit tear as he grows slightly.

Before you sits not Lung, the leader of the ABB, nor Lung, the conqueror of the Protectorate ENE; no, before you sits Lung, the Dragon of Kyushu.

>how tall is Lung
A little over 6'. And he starts off at Brute 4, Blaster 2.
>sensors
Dragon has seismometers, buoys and a satellite around to detect Endbringer attacks a few hours in advance, so they can set up defenses. They also have thinkers constantly looking for threats.
>>
>>3242702
I'd say about 6'-6'3". It changes constantly due to his mood. Stubs his toe getting out of bed in the morning. BAM, taller.

Armsmaster and Dragon are in the works of their predictive software. Sirens are the main indicator and are a mandatory in all city of a certain population. Generally defenders have about 2-30 minutes of time to get ready before the Endbringer hits, depending on what one it is. Funnily enough, Simurgh is the easiest to see when she's coming, due to being in air and having several Thinkers watching. All PRT bases have open lobbies, allowing local capes to come in and be picked up for mass teleportation when Endbringers come.

I just had a though (dangerous I know.)
The new Beast power allows us to grow bigger, which sort of scales with out strength and vitality. Lung can regenerate wounds. If we were to bite chunks out of Lung as we fought we too could get swoll.....I wonder what would be our hard cap for size.
>>
>>3242741
Kenta grew up in poverty, part of the reason he takes great joy in his wealth. It's one of the few things that calms him. Why do you think Lung immediately chased after the Undersiders after they smashed and grabbed from the Ruby Dreams, it's his crown and joy. The ultimate symbol of his wealth and power.

(gonna catch some zzz's gents, will return with the acceptance. Will have fun writing it.)

Your skeletal jaw drops open, and your eyes flash crimson. You are silent for a few seconds which feel like eternity.

"I accept."

Lung bounds from his chair, and extends his hand forward, which your place a claw into. He vigorously shakes it.

"Good. Good. Just remember, no scream. I have your word on this yes?"

"Of course... let's put on a show. Before I take my leave however, what was it like fighting Leviathan?"

The dragon's form straightens. "I never felt so alive as I did in that moment, as Kyushu sank around me my only thoughts were for the death of my enemy."

You are quickly ushered out of the casino, back to the entrance to where Red has the car idling.

You climb back into the SUV, and Red asks. "So, what did Lung want?"

frankly if it's alright with everyone, I'd like to timeskip to Skidmark's arrival, Simurgh event, and then Lung fight. With a few random encounters scattered in there. The next days past quickly. You first aid Squealer in transferring GL17CH's mind to a new housing. His joy with is now announced to the whole group with some quick text-to-speech software of his own creation. He can be seen helping Squealer in her workshop or exploring around the freighter.

"Hello friend, can I help you?"

"Sure thing GL17CH, here. Hold my beer." A Merchant places his bottle in GL17CH's new grasper so he can get up to change the channel. GL17CH stands at the end of the couch watching the TV.

You and Cujo spend some a man and his dog time together. Training him to be around the men and fight alongside them. Some of the ironworker managed to shape some pretty thick steel to protect his head, while Cujo's body is covered in a layers of Kevlar with an outer layer of chain-mail. The hound seemingly enjoys his new armor, he seems nervous without it. The man that made it received many face licks for his trouble.

You spend your afternoons pulling filled shipping containers along the beach in anticipation of your upcoming fight. While your strength seems to not change all that much, some of the men aid you in increasing your reflexes in battle by firing at you, and you attempting to dodge. They were somewhat uncomfortable with it at first, but they quickly caught on.

>Skill gained! Dodge- can roll against an enemies to hit in order to prevent any damage. Will help since Lung's fire negates your shadowform.

You had spent many of the mornings expanding the crabbing operation that the Merchant's have taken up. The new fleet stands at a total of 5 ships, with a round the clock the crew.

There was only one problem though. The Winter air has finally struck into the waters of the Bay, the crabs have all either died or left. At-least when they return all the equipment will be ready.

At the end of the week, a strange tension is in the air. The TV's are all quiet. Many members are frantically cleaning the rooms and group spaces of the two freighters. Squealer is wearing a dress...

Outside a massive semi and a trailer can be heard screeching as it's brakes fight the momentum. Squealer is the first to break the silence.

"Skiddy! You're back!" The blonde haired woman flies across the gravel lot to the driver side of the semi. Skidmark's blue costumed form kicks open the door with a clang, and wraps his arms around her. He mutters something unheard into her ear, after which she quickly ends the hug and stands behind him blushing.

He walks slowly towards the assembled gang in front of the freighter, and has his eyes locked upon you. He makes it half the distance before beginning to clap slowly. His claps increase in volume and speed until he stands right in front of you. He makes a come hither gesture to you, and you crane your head down.

His voice, barely a whisper, enters your ears. "Knew you could do it."

He faces the gang, and raises his voice to a yell. "You motherfuckers pop the back on that trailer! I got y'all fucks McDonald's."

He turns back to you, and winks. "That isn't all I got. You made me fucking proud man. I made a lot of mistakes in who I trusted in my life Famine." He stretches his arm up to place it on your bicep. "I'm glad you weren't one."

You start to fill him in on what you did while he was gone, but he quickly cuts you off.

"Squealer was giving me updates man, I trusted you, but I needed to know what you were doing."

By the time the Merchant's are all fed, the trailer is still 3/4 full. Skidmark has you, Mush, and several of the men begin unloading crates, metal machinery, and strange glowing cases.

At the end of the night, all the power players of the Merchant's are gathered in the Bridge.

Skidmark stands peering down at a table, while Red and Mush make idle chitchat. Skidmark's head snaps up once you walk in.

"Sorry boss, had to feed the dog." You say.

He has a bright smile on his face, ruined by his grungy teeth. "It's all good. We're here to plan. I went to Boston, and chatted with a few of the capes up there. I picked up some plants from Blasto, and heard word from Accord that The Teeth and the Slaughterhouse may be on the move, but he's not sure."

Red stiffens at that. Skidmark notices.

"My thoughts exactly. Squealer will be doing extensive work with the two freighters we are living out of right now. Some of the tinker equipment I bought upstate will come in use there. We're going full Castle in the Sky."

Squealer is the only one in the room that has any measure of comprehension on their face.

"Are you sure we're secure enough for that?" She asks incredulously.

"With Famine we are. Good move on the Lung deal, that buys us time. Now here guys are papers detailing exactly what everyone is going to be doing." He opens a manila folder and pulls out several sheets of paper.

I doubt Famine is an amnesiac Danny for several reasons:
>1) It would have been hinted at in that short Taylor POV segment part, if not said outright.
>2) Famine's powerset does NOT fit the three potential powersets that Danny would canonically have gotten, according to what Wildbow himself said.
>3) Famine's brief memory flash was of "a young girl getting on a school bus" and "a small hole in the ground on a rainy day." Not sure if it was raining during the car accident day, but Annette (Taylor's mom) was on the phone when it happened, and Taylor was staying with Emma that day. Memory flash does not seem to fit prior backstory that Danny has.
>4) The car accident that killed Taylor's mom happened a year BEFORE she started high school. Taylor already has her Master powers in current story time, meaning previous canon shit still happened as fated. I doubt Taylor has been living alone without her father, or with someone else who remotely gives a shit about her, for however long Famine has existed.
>>
>>3254035
I thought the small hole in the ground in the flash back would have been a sink hole the school bus fell into, but, "small sink hole" so I guess not. Though, maybe a small hole on the ground on a rainy day could have caused the school bus to hydroplane which killed the girl?

I don't know what the girl's name is, but Lisa comes to mind. YouTube link unrelated.

The hours fade to days, the days fade to weeks, and the weeks coalesce to a month. You manage to gather information by reading some public sources, and listening to police scanners.

Three targets jump to your attention. The Undersiders, small time and hard to nail down. Coil, seemingly centered in Downtown, and even harder to get any info on. Lastly, Faultline's Crew, mercenaries available for a variety of jobs, apparently they have pretty good customer reviews...

You sit in your room, going over a map in the search of potential hideouts for the Undersiders when Skidmark bursts into your room.

"Hey what the fuck!" You jolt out.

Skidmark's eyes are frantic and his breathing is heavy. "Simurgh is on her way to Canberra down under. Report came in 1 minute ago! . I know I'm asking a lot, but I need you to get your ass down to the PRT building and be ported over there right now."

Reminder, in regards to Simurgh: She canonically won in Canberra, so they had to seal the whole place under a dome. Whatever it was, it involved samples being "retrieved" for investigation. Wildbow himself wrote a trigger event related to this, which might as well be canon:

> "It is the worst case scenario. You're the first this morning to enter the lab where you do all your biohazard work, testing bacteria, parasites, viruses and potential cures, when the lights go off, the emergency lighting and sirens kicking in. In your sprint to the end of the hall, you see the disaster; a cart tipped, containers broken. You stand there, your heart dropping into your stomach, knowing you've already died. The papers that were on the cart read, very simply, 'Canberra'. The Simurgh. The name is enough to push you to trigger."

So we better be prepared for some fucked biohazard shit alright?

As a refresher, Simurgh has:
>constant psychic scream (sometimes audible sometimes not) to scan surroundings a la echolocation
>psychic scream also alters behavior, implants messages, creates compulsions in victims
>absolutely 100% perfect precognition of the future - the more she sings and screams the farther ahead it reaches
>sees the past in a similar manner
>can focus on a target for quicker information
>blind to the present
>presence of other precogs and some other powers can interfere with her power
>can see things that were otherwise obscured by looking at people's perceptions of them, or otherwise observing their consequences, as well as by predicting their most likely course
>can use these uber long-term scans and psychic mind-fuckery to turn people into living breathing Rube Goldberg devices, pawns of fate
>has TK
>scan lets her borrow and copy techniques and mental powers, including fucking Tinker stuff, and put together a macro-scale version with TK on surrounding junk, just like a real Tinker would
>With enough knowledge of a subject, she can evoke memories subconsciously through her posture and actions. By placing a target in a stressful environment, this can be used to cause hallucinations.
>capable of tossing buildings and flight
>can strike a hundred targets simultaneously with thrown debris
>can create "decoys" out of debris capable of fooling Scion
>TK is Manton-limited, but she can TK capes' clothing and generated materials to throw them anyway
>standard Endbringer durability and core of bullshitanium
>>
>>3256150
>constant psychic scream (sometimes audible sometimes not) to scan surroundings a la echolocation
Nothing we can do about this.
>psychic scream also alters behavior, implants messages, creates compulsions in victims
This is the big hazard to watch out for. We should get ready to leave any time if it turns out that Abaddad hasn't protected us.
>absolutely 100% perfect precognition of the future - the more she sings and screams the farther ahead it reaches
>sees the past in a similar manner
>can focus on a target for quicker information
>blind to the present
>presence of other precogs and some other powers can interfere with her power
We'll probably have to follow precog advice.
>can see things that were otherwise obscured by looking at people's perceptions of them, or otherwise observing their consequences, as well as by predicting their most likely course
Not a problem for us since we'll most likely be supporting by killing people who heard the scream too long, since we don't have the strength to deal with the Endbringers' bullshitanium bodies.
>With enough knowledge of a subject, she can evoke memories subconsciously through her posture and actions. By placing a target in a stressful environment, this can be used to cause hallucinations.
Too bad we have no memories for her to fuck with :^)

Final analysis:
>Overall, we would serve best by eating enemy minions and helping with damage control. We don't currently have the strength or powerset to beat the Simurgh, and I don't think Meddles is going to let us tard-screech her to death.
>>

>>
>>3256286
(/spoiler) Simurgh finna ride Famine like a bike.(/spoiler)
>>
>>3256293
Nah.

But real talk, if Famine actually manages to do something dramatic like bite off a part of the Simurgh, even something small like a foot or hand (which doesn't matter because her core is in one of the three wings and not the main body) then people will know. All Endbringer fights are recorded then televised worldwide. Everybody is going to see Famine do some impossible-tier shit and that will change things.

Although, that's assuming Simurgh even gets within range of Famine. She'll probably just hang above and evade stuff constantly while making her biohazard whatever to "win" the Canberra fight. I doubt eating infected capes is going to be good for Famine, devourer aspect aside - especially if whatever virus or contagion or whatever mystery thing it is is bad enough that it being loose in close proximity to someone is enough to canonically trigger them into gaining powers. Canberra might be a timed mission in that regard, like the goals are
>Survive uninfected and intact
>Eat dead uninfected capes for Reclamation
>Try not to be infected during the onslaught
However the Endbringer fight goes, HWM better make it fucking Extinction arc tier intense. Might be good to use the Migration arc as a reference. It's the one where Simurgh attacks Madison, Wisconsin and the Travelers get teleported over from Earth Aleph into Earth Bet.
>>
>>3256308
>whatever virus or contagion or whatever mystery thing it is is bad enough that it being loose in close proximity to someone is enough to canonically trigger them into gaining powers
Read the description again.
>The name is enough to push you to trigger.
The virus was bad, but the implications of the Simurgh's presence were what broke the camel's back and caused the trigger.
>>
>>3256150

Despite how dangerous it would be I kind or hope we get another flashback.

Despite how fragile she might seem, Simurgh is still just as bullshit resistant as Leviathan and Behemoth are. Trying to help out physics fuckers and anybody that can significantly injure Simurgh should also be our priority in the battlefield, alongside eating dead capes and Tinkertech (after we ask politely if we can do this).

Also another refresher, straight from the wiki:
>Endbringers have no vulnerable organs.
>Endbringers are crystal entities consisting of about 200 layers in the main body and 33 in the limbs, each one approximately twice as hard as the previous one.
>Layer strength, toughness, and healing factor increases exponentially.
>Tensile strength of the material roughly doubles with each layer.
>3% deeper in toward core of arms, legs, claws, tail, extremities. 0.5% in toward core of head, trunk, neck, center mass.
>Endbringer core of bullshitanium would require around five hundred and sixty novemdecillion mPA of pressures to damage.
>Endbringer extremities would take 30 trillion atmospheres of pressure to damage.
>In practice, only parahumans capable of breaking the laws of physics can seriously harm an Endbringer (ex. Flechette/Foil, String Theory)
>However, a concentrated attack with enough force to destroy the surface of a planet would be sufficient at killing an Endbringer in one shot. While even an attack of that magnitude would not destroy all layers of the Endbringer body, enough energy to obliterate it instantly would be transmitted into the core, resulting in a 'definite kill'.
>Endbringers are immune to most teleporters due to density reasons.
>Endbringers count as living matter for the purposes of the Manton Effect.
>Endbringer cores employ time-warping and space-warping that interferes with some powers that also rely on them. (ex. Chevalier)
>Endbringer nervous systems are foreign enough to prevent body control powers from working. (ex. Regent)
>Endbringers leak a thick ichor-like substance on taking damage, suggesting a non-standard cardiac system. The deeper layers regenerate faster because the material from the intact layers expand to fill in any damaged or missing areas.

Also it's confirmed Word of God that the reason the Endbringers haven't destroyed the Wormverse, in large part, is that they're intentionally jobbing every fight.

Yeah.
>>
>>3256559
yeah like, we can only hope that our teeht have some physic fuckery over them
>>
>>3256559
>Endbringers count as living matter for the purposes of the Manton Effect
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Can the Simurgh escape a black hole?
>>
>>3256559
Couldn't we have our brother rot the surface of the core a little? I don't think his powers are Manton limited. If he rots it enough we should be able to bite the fuck out of it and then tard screech Simurgh repeatedly.
>>
>>3256586
Since we directly cut off the connection between the cape and the shard located on another world, the brain, maybe whatever Reclamation does causes Abaddon to capture the shard automatically when we devour the corona pollentia. But then how does Tard Screech mechanically function in that sort of context?

>>3256646
>Endbringer cores employ time-warping and space-warping that interferes with some powers that also rely on them. (ex. Chevalier)
I guess maybe?

>>3256678
Two drawbacks here:
1) We have no clue how Tard Screech works on Endbringers. It might do jack fucking shit for all we know.
2) Tard Screech will depower nearby capes too, so we'll have to warn as much people as possible before we attempt it at all.
But I'm all for throwing shadow minions at it to rot the outer layers away as much as possible. It would support everybody attacking Simurgh, not just us.
>>
>>3256559
>alongside eating dead capes and Tinkertech (after we ask politely if we can do this).
This seems like it would answer itself but the general feeling ivget from this is that no one wants us to us to eat the tech or bodies of their friends. Might as we just do it during the heat of the moment.

>>3256586
Maybe we can try drinking the puddles of blood?

>>3256646
>Endbringers count as living matter for the purposes of the Manton Effect
Ooooh right we can eat a lot of organic stuff with void.

You rush through the freighter as a shade, and take fight through the afternoon air. The city is full of the sounds of life, but seemingly at peace. It has been weeks since any gang battles, and the locales have seemingly dropped their guards.

You pass over the streets as an inky phantom. Many people stop and point up at you. Before long you are Downtown, and in front of the PRT building.

You approach the building, and step through the door, having to lower your head. The guard on duty drops his magazine in shock as you walk to the receptionist.

"Hey stop!" He calls out as you walk past him, not even sparing a glace. The receptionist is frantically pushing a button underneath her desk.

"Mr. Famine, should you attack us, you would be in violation of the Endbringer truce." She stutters out.

"I'm aware. I am here for transport to Canberra." You rasp out. She looks at you in shock.

"Oh, well... Agent will you please lead him to the extraction room." The PRT guard cocks his head at her as if to question her sanity, but walks towards you.

"Follow behind me, and no funny business." He leads you quickly down a labyrinth of hallways, and opens the door to a large empty room labeled 'Extraction'.

Inside stands the Protectorate ENE. Armsmaster, Assault, Battery, Miss Militia, Velocity, and Dauntless. They all turn towards you and all have their own reactions. Armsmaster stiffens, while Assault and Battery step close to each other. Dauntless pays you little mind. While Miss Militia seems ... pleased.

"What is he doing here?" Armsmaster asks?

The agent shrugs. "He says he's here for the Endbringer fight, play nice." He does an about face and walks back down the hallway, you can vaguely hear him mutter something along the lines of 'fucking capes'.

You look at the Protectorate, they look at you. An intercom belches out "Strider will be incoming in 1 minute, 30 seconds."

>Anything you want to say to break the ice?

The capes look at you with red hot glares. This is just awkward.

"Yes, my fur is all nature, stop being jealous. I even condition it. Would anyone like to feel?" Assault chuckles lightly, then winces when Battery elbows him in the side.

"Where exactly are we teleporting to, if you don't mind telling?"

This time Armsmaster speaks up. "We are teleporting to a reaction center that is being formed outside the city, do not be stuck inside once the fall back order is given; you will be left behind." He speaks sternly.

"Well can I get a map of any deli's, slaughterhouses, places like that nearby there. I'm starving."

"Once we are inside, if you have the time to eat from somewhere consider yourself lucky." Miss Militia says.

"So.... am I allowed to eat the dead and the insane?" You ask.

Silence follows. God what a bunch of thin skinned pansies, you were just joking... not.

By the time for the silence to becoming unbearable, a man wearing goggles, a cap, and a costume based of black and light blue pops into the large room with a crowd of 40 people. He casts an eye over the Protectorate, and then notices you.

"Hey, you're Famine, first Endbringer fight?" In a manner of moments while he speaks, the background changes, as he 'strides', carrying the whole group from location to location.

"Yeah, you know me?"

He cocks a grin. "I've heard of you, be careful. Cockiness is the quickest way to die."

By the time he finishes his sentence, you are hit with bright sun, and arid heat. The sun is in a different location. All around you there are numerous capes from across the world. A man handing out armbands approaches you.

"Take one, say your cape name. It reports your status and location. One button sends messages, the other will ping for emergencies. If you need to get a message through immediately, press the button and say 'Hard Override', abuse will remove the ability to send messages. Press both to ping for assistance, such as a flier to get to a position." The man after finishing his spiel rushes off to another group of capes.

You gingerly lift the blocky device and fix it around your bicep. It beeps to life, and you growl "Famine" into it. The little machine chimes back.

"Famine, Villain, S-Class."

Armsmaster turns towards you, disdain apparent on his face. "Normally, capes have to go through vetting to be allowed at Simurgh fights, checking for psychological weakness, things like that. Someone up the chain made your file accepted, and I will find out why. The armbands also carry an explosive, many choose to commit suicide rather than be a weapon for the Simurgh. Please do the same."

He turns back to talk to Miss Militia.

Suddenly a woman in dark armor flies above the group, and begins to speak with a commanding presence.

A young cape to your side whispers in awe. "Alexandria."

You easily make your way through the crowd due to your size, her voice silences the chatter as she continues to speak allowing you to hear her clearly.

"-inker capes are relegated to support duties to prevent Simurgh from using you, Blasters will be used as firing support. If you have the a mover power-set as well, we ask that you try to keep her corralled to the outskirts of the city to reduce civilian deaths while we evacuate. Brutes will be tasked with inflicting damage to the Simurgh, or destroying any unforseen elements that come to be."

Her eyes lock on to you as you approach.

"We have 2 minutes till arrival. Prepare, and get into a position that suits you, the Simurgh's trajectory indicates that she will be approaching from the west side." She slowly flies towards you. "Famine, I must say I am surprised to see a Brockton Bay Villain in Canberra." Her mouth, the only exposed part of her face goes into a smirk, but quickly falls back into a frown.

"Just here for a fight. Also food. I'd like to request the ability to eat causalities. If I take too many injuries I will fall into a frenzy, everyone will be in danger then. If I become frenzied, just have someone throw a cow at me and I'll come back."

She cocks her head to the side. "Duly noted, thank you." She whispers into her armband too low for you to hear. "You may eat the confirmed dead."

"I told Dragon to report when corpses are consumed by you, should you eat a living friendly, you will be labeled a Simurgh puppet and be given a kill on sight designation. Is that understood?"

"Yes, and thank you." You can not help the cheeky grin that grows on your skeletal jaws.

She continues to address you. "Can you fly, you are an impressive Brute and I believe you would do more good alongside Legend, Eidolon, and myself rather than running around like a lone wolf. Atleast for when the fight starts."

Is... is that a hint of blush on her face.

"While I can fly, I need to go eat in order to prepare for the fight. I will join you in a bit." You say.

"That's fine, try not to die will you." Alexandria says. Is that a hint of disappointment?

With the sirens blaring around you, a 14 foot tall Wendigo looks like the monster all the people are running from.

Of course you completely break that image when you grab a civilian and demand they tell you where the closest butcher shop is. The man frantically screams that it's just down the corner.

You sweep into the building like an Angel of Death and are sorely disappointed to find it ransacked already, any of its delicious contents gone. Waste not, want not you suppose.

You tear through cow tongue, racks of ribs, offal, and bacon. A truly manly meal.

As you feast, your bones lengthen, your claws become serrated, and your flesh grows thick. You have a strange skeletal tail.

A few theories

A) She's a closet furry/horror/xenophile

B) She meets very few peoppe that can potentially match her in strength and she and she's the old school romantic type that loves have a strong pair of arms wrapped around her

C) We're completely misinterpreting it and she's just shy around people who aren't in awe of her cape persona.

D) Basically C but it's how she normally is and Famine can just tell because he's not affected by her "aura"

E) being a "the ends justify the means" type around this time in Worm, Alexandria actually secretly approves of Famine genociding the Nazis and both giving the homeless a home and other incomes (crabs) besides drug dealing.

F) She has a bit of an inner kid inside her and the idea of a nazi slaying wendigo battle buddy is really fucking awesome.

G) We kind of remind her of a teddy bear and it's taking every fiber of her being to nit take up Famine's offer and cuddle his fur because it would completely ruin her image in front of the rest of the PRT capes.
>>

H) As we are a seventeen feet tall man-turned-beast she thinks we are a bit starved for human contact, especially of the sensual nature. Also it is all part of Contessa´s plans to save the world, which involve us stating a one way platonic relationship with Alexandria.

Not that we would know about. Unless there's a young girl in the merchants telling everyone about her missing dad who mysteriously disappeared around the same time Famine popped up, we wouldn't know anything about a missing dad.

You leap through the roof of the building and search for any capes to join with. About 100 yards away is the Simurgh with a halo of various debris orbiting her. A strange tinker tech device is being constructed in front of her that grows larger and more elaborate by the second. You can see Eidolon, and Legend blasting the Endbringer with lasers which she intercepts with the debris. Alexandria attempts to go for a flying tackle, but the winged monster shifts at the last second.

Several capes are converging on her at the moment.

When suddenly you hear... music... if you could call it that come from behind you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPq-dHGKcG4

A man in a leather vest with bullets, a headband like rambo, a red outback hat, red shirt, and brown pants approaches you from behind. He wears no mask. He has a sniper rifle hanging from his back, a large knife on his hip, and a boombox upon his shoulder.

You are in awe.

The clearly Australian capes speaks first. "Oi mate, care to make a facken scene while I pop a shot off eh?" He takes a cigarette from his pocket and lights it. "Would you like one of me durries?" He offers you one, but you shake your head.

Your armband rattles off several names.

"Man-at-Arms down, C-34. Croc-tile deceased, C-33. Shotput down, C-33. HappyTrigger deceased, C-34."

You give a curt nod to the strange man, and shift into the hulking shadow. Streaking over the roof tops you make towards the angelic form of the Simurgh.

The winged monster waits till the last moment as you effortlessly pass through her protective debris, before merely shifting to the side as you return to the material to make a swipe.

The Simurgh is a pain in the ass to fight.

You hear from the roof top where you once stood the loud crack of a rifle being fired. Suddenly the tinker-tech monstrosity being assembled near the Simurgh is wreathed in fire. You advantage of the break in action to grasp a nearby fallen cape that was wearing a gasmask, Man-at-Arms perhaps, and shove him down your gullet.

The Tinker tech device seems to have suffered minimal damage, but the Simurgh's focus was shifted for a short amount of time.

The Simurgh is now staring directly at you, with her many wings twisting and contorting. The halo of debris spins faster and faster.

You dig your clawed feet into the asphalt akin to a predator of old, and rocket towards the smaller form of the Endbringer. You notice blasts of light coming from behind you, most likely Eidolon or Legend.

The winged woman dodges each swipe you make, and slashes at you with her sharp wings, opening gushing wounds.

>-75 VITALITY
>-80 HUNGER
>+60 VITALITY

The wounds seal and the bleeding slows, but you can feel some damage internally. This dodging has been an annoyance for long enough.

The color that has no name leaves your maw, carrying forth its edict of silence. The Endbringer merely stands in place, soft smile on her face.

Then the force washes over her, and she screams once more. The porcelain skin of the Simurgh cracks all across her body, and a few of her wings wither and fall upon the ruined streets.

The Endbringer throws her halo of debris at you, forcing you back whilst she flees closer to the edge of the city. Alexandria intercepts her with a tackle, and is almost taken aback at how her armored fist sinks into the cracked flesh of the Endbringer.

You turn towards the device which you were unceremoniously pushed towards, and begin to approach. As you do so, a small tower on the metal creation blinks red.

With a rushing of wind, the device seems to suck in light, before sending out a blast that warps all that it touches. The ground twists and turns, and Croc-tile's corpse shudders and snaps, great growths consuming the flesh.

Something tells you to run away from the eldritch light.

The growing sphere of crimson energy expands out as you runs from it. It tears away at the streets, the buildings, and all that fall in it's path. Civilians fall under its light and soon rise once again, warped into tentacled beasts. Many of the slower capes fall behind.

"Catcalled deceased, C-33, Kalbidi deceased, C-33 Hotflash deceased, C-34. Killmajor deceased, D-34..." About five more names are said as you run.

As you tear great rifts in the concrete, you reach out and grab the fallen limb of the Simurgh. You swallow it on the run.

The great scything blades grow longer and more jagged. Your horns twist and grow as red energy zaps across them. Bone spurs shoot from your spine along each vertebrae.

Famine walks in the land down under, and chaos falls in his wake.

Eidolon flies next you warily. "Famine, you still with us?"

"Never better, what do you need me to do?" Your voice is thick and distorted, a chorus pours from your maw.

He points towards the center of the zone where the device lies. "Our tinkers think that the Simurgh's device may have enough power to send out another blast, and we need someone to destroy it. "Apologies Eidolon. I have a plan." You rasp out

"Wait wh-" He is left floating where you once towered as you surge down the street, crushing cars underfoot. You bound over a row of homes to continue your straight path towards the Simurgh.

The Endbringer is only about 200 yards away, and her screaming only grows in volume as you draw closer. You smash your immense form through an apartment building, leaving a gaping wound in the structure until it collapses. You have to use your smallest arms to press upon your armband.

"Famine, I'm approaching the Simurgh, retreat 100 yards if you want to live."

Your armband beeps, and a digitized voice comes from it. "Famine this is Dragon, I can not authorize that due to this being your first Endbringer fight. Far to much can go wrong."

You continue to smash and shade through buildings as you growl into the device. "If you do not send it, all of them will die."

The armband beeps once more. "Acknowledged... Alexandria has vouched for you."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_csTPekxe7w

Finally, before you stands the Winged One, Simurgh. Many of the capes that were pinning her down with blasts are quickly retreating or being extracted. Corpses line the ground, and many seem to becoming corrupted like the ones near the device. The winged Endbringer is in poor shape, her face is a destroyed mess, and chunks have been shot from her body, many of her wings are snapped and lay upon the ground.

It means nothing.

For you open your maw, and ţ̤̪̫̤̤͍̇̃̎̑́̚h̟̳̹̗͉͙́͗͌̿͆̐ě̡̜̻͍̼̈́̈̋̇̀͞ Ṽ̶̢̥̭̰͎̱͕̀̽̎̿̽̃̄̾͢͝O̷̢͔̟̙̳̟̬̤̓̀̾̾͗͐̇I̴̱͉̬͖̮̩̣̺͓̾̆̄̎̽͌̕ͅD̷̡̢͕̬̙̻͖̿̌͌̈́̚͜͡ C̵̺͔͓̜̜͖͙̍̊̽͋̃͝ͅǪ̛̪̘͙̙̞͓̼͌͒̀̑͞N͍̺̻͛͋́̌͒ͅS̫̦̖̘̃̉͐́̇͐͜͠͝͠Ǘ̮̯̣̭̟̣͎̩̀̏͂̽M̡̨̟̦̻̬͖͚̮̃́̄̌͑́͗̀̕̚͜E̵̡̢̠̹̰̘̰̓͒́̉͑͊̎̚͢͠͠S̼̳̜͇̬̻̳̆́͋̓̕͟.

You feel a sliding scratch inside your throat, and you can see in almost dull shock as elongated fingers slide out from your growing maw. A shear black orb that sucks in all light rests at the base of your throat. Writhing tendrils whip and crack at the bodies that are pulled into the ever consuming VOID. The corpses and the reanimated shatter and pulp as they batter into one another.

The Simurgh's face is one of pure terror as she fights to escape the pull of the VOID. It's the most expressive the Endbringer has ever been known to be. She is slowly pulled towards the maw that knows no ends, screaming all the while.

When she is at-last within your grasp, you wrap all six of your arms around her. The long cruel blades bite deeply into the strange not-flesh that makes up the Endbringers.

You pull her up closer to your jaw, and the fingers all crack. The Simurgh falls silent.

The fingers snap forward, piercing the slowly regenerating head of Angel in a harsh stigmata.

I'd like to know the same thing about the reclamation. After consuming the Simurph, it's fallen wings, and possibly the corpses of fallen mutated capes, we stood at 510 RECLAMATION. Or was the +500 from directly consuming the Simurph and discounting the wings, dead capes and their tinker tech?

Then we payed 430 RECLAMATION for, one of the two abilities and what I'm hoping is something else. I knew each new consecutive ability costed RECLAMATION, but damn 430 for the one? Absolutely crazy. Last time before purchasing the "get big quick" ability the Branching Horns I think costed 10.

>>3261127
Oooooh so that's what happened to all those shards.

The Branching Horns ability might be ok should we find a perfect place in time to restart, and find a cluster of Tinker Tech and Shards in a single place. Then once we have enough we can go pack in time with little cost? Something like that.
>>
>>3261131

You retain a set of small arms without claws that can be tucked into your fur, and seeing how it looks like Branching Horns will be picked, your horns now split off from one another without rhyme or reason, they seem to shift, growing on one area and dropping in another.

Apparently Wildbow wrote it so Endbringers in-universe appeared depending on how mankind started dealing with them.
For Eidolon needing Worthy Opponents, his Eden shard triggered Behemoth's awakening.
For Behemoth becoming too predictable, Leviathan appeared.
For Behemoth and Leviathan being simple to deal with, Simurgh appeared.

In canon when Zion kills Behemoth, things change.

Leviathan and Simurgh stop having climactic showdowns at cities and start going full guerilla tactics to avoid Zion, with losses they cause not being as destructive or super bad as they were before.
Khonsu arrives to be a defensive teleporting worldwide distraction, also to avoid Zion.
Tohu and Bohu arrive to be a singular stationary target for capes to assault, fortifying and holding their position with endless traps and power copying, until their time is up. They exist to fuck with people and be fucked with by capes just to drain time and effort.

The other three Endbringers we canonically know exists from Eden's alternate future interlude are:
>A fifteen-foot tall lion-headed figure surrounded by crystal, who turned whatever the crystal touched into more crystal.
>A woman with a reptilian lower body, surrounded by clouds of steam which took the form of faces, claws, and other forms.
>A naked man, perched on top of a seemingly frozen ocean wave, with a 'too flexible' body that swayed with the wind.

Even so, I'm not sure which interpretation HWM wants to go with in regards to the Endbringers' origins. Did Eidolon's Eden shard create them outright based on the ideas and templates Eden had already, incorporating Eidolon's mythology boner into their designs? or Did the Endbringers exist already somewhere else thanks to Eden, dormant, intended for inciting further conflict worldwide and further the Cycle's goals? or some mixture of the two?

Either way, whatever comes next, I expect two things:
>The next Endbringer or two to begin spawning should be awakened directly as a counter to Famine, or Eidolon's innate shock and dismay that one of his worthy opponents got BTFO this easily after so many years
>They should still keep a mythological bent to them, like all the other Endbringers in canon.

Straight from Tattletale:
The outer shell, the concept, the execution, they’re tapping into religious metaphors. The devil, the serpent, the angel, buddha, mother earth, the maiden, each connected in turn to fundamental forces. Flame, water, fate, time, earth, the self. Things deep-seated and fundamental to their creator’s belief system, because that’s how the passengers interpret our world. Through us. But deep down? Beyond that surface, beyond the basic programming that drives them to do what they’ve been doing for thirty years? It’s the passenger’s brush strokes.

And a thing about Endbringers that people overlook is that they are intentionally jobbing to conserve their power. They intend to keep their shit up for 300 YEARS. Pulling out new strategies and new powers out of their nonexistent asses is absolutely a thing they can and will do eventually. I hope HWM uses this effectively. This is a quest after all.
>>
>>3261461
>countering Famine
So it should have a high Mover rating, to escape tardscreech/VOID's radius of murder. Maybe a teleport-spammer; or frequently charging in a straightish line at incredible speed, vaporizing anyone it hits; or it just flies around really fast.
>sorry you didn't get a good fight, Eidolon
An Endbringer that's Nintendium-tough everywhere and not just at the core. It requires exotic powers to get through the outer body and the core actually suppresses powers in a certain radius around it in addition to the standard Endbringer core defenses. Or one with a good balance between speed, toughness, strength and smarts.

In practice we'll see some balance between the two, or both simultaneously, each one appearing in such a way that the cape who gets countered has to respond and the other one can't.

To be fair, some parts can be a slog to read through. I remember nearly giving up multiple times.
>>3261849
Eh, I'd still say it's worth a read if you can bear through 1.6 Million words
The best advice I can give is to not rush it. STOP when you get tired. There were times where my eyes really fucking hurt just from the amount of text.

I thought that was Simurgh bargaining with Abbadon, what with the court of sons and daughters bit.
>>
>>3261865
Yeah but I think we still heard it. Whether we understood or not is the question.
>>
I've literally never even read a single sentence of the actual cannon. The closest I came was a mate filling me in on some of the bullshit about a year or more ago.

I'm mostly lurking here for the memes for that exact reason...
>>
>>3261869
Then start reading you fucking idiot. Christ reading the original story should be mandatory for people voting in a fanfic quest for fuck's sake
>>
>>3261849
Tbh, it honestly just sounds like an edgier marvel setting and I'd probably be disappointed by it after the high level of quality that quest set.
>>
>>3261806
I read Worm, but I didn't complete Ward
>>
>>3261884
the writing has its moments where its okay... But if you've ever read any kind of Fanfic, then you know the basic level of writing displayed ;)

And yeah, its edgy af, but that's also kinda the point of the whole thing

The setting is actually pretty decent, with alot of room for all kinds of scenarios and is well suited for quests

I fucking despised reading Worm, not that Wildbow is bad. The story and world are extremely good, but the web serial layout fucking kills me. It's a fucking slog fest, and I'm not even gonna touch Ward.

Oh boy!
I love me some interlewds!

Good work, I've been enjoying the quest immensly so far :)

Looking forward to what comes next

I read the entire Worm series in 2 weeks. I was reading thread 1 of One Bad Day without realizing it was fanfiction but noticed everyone already knew the other characters, so I asked. Blazed through the whole thing so that I could take part of the quest. I loved it.

>>3261849
There is a lot of stuff between the major plot points, but I understand if people stop reading or watching something after seeing spoilers. Personally it doesn't matter to me if I know how it ends or whatever.

>>3261884
That's the point, but it isn't the "ow the edge" kind. Well apart from the Slaughterhouse 9, that shit was an exercise in gore, torture and shock porn. I grew wearied of that real quick and I felt it shouldn't have been more than a third of what it was.

>>3261906
I dropped Ward last year around chapter 8, but I actually picked it up again thanks to this quest. I should be all caught up by tomorrow evening. Victoria is an awful MC, the main cast is terrible and all their interactions with each other is like reading a manual in how to behave in a trigger-free zone in a SocJus world where micro-aggressions are tantamount to murder.
>>
>>3261884
>the high level of quality that quest set
Bitch this is a fucking fanfic quest

I will have to confess my ignorance; my introduction to Worm was through /tg /qst quests. I started reading it after I saw tons of quests harassing 'Assmaster' because I wanted to see why he was universally shat upon :D

Also the power descriptions (both canon and non-canon) were pretty interesting and refreshing, showed some real creativity.
>>
>>3261925
I agree, Ward just had too much of that socjus shit, it really drained on me - and when Taylor is a better MC you know you've got problems 8^)

(that said, I secretly like Taylor as an MC, whining and all)
>>
>>3261925
>I read the entire Worm series in 2 weeks.
No human can speedread all of Worm. You've outed yourself, (((Entity))).
>>3261932
Sufficient Velocity and Spacebattles have a metric fuckton of Worm quests and fanfics.
>>3261946
When did you realize Taylor had become a sociopath as bad as Sophia?
>>
>>3261925
Yeah S9 was annoying. Reading them get BTFO in S9000 was fun.
>Victoria is an awful MC
How so? What's your take on why she's shit?
>the main cast is terrible
I guess when everybody is a boatload of fucking problems and issues, they do tend to get insufferable quick. That's just the reality of it. Rain, Ashley, Byron best characters.
>all their interactions with each other is like reading a manual in how to behave in a trigger-free zone in a SocJus world where micro-aggressions are tantamount to murder
Apt description

>>3261946
I'm not sure myself. Taylor is good in some aspects but so is Victoria. Wildbow writes the justifications in a somewhat sensible manner too, which makes it even harder to decide who is worst protag.

Best Wildbow protag, however, is /ourboy/ pic related. Shame because I doubt anyone here except me has read Pact even though Pact is THE shortest Wildbow story to date.

>>3261960
I speedread Worm in a month. Also SB and SV are both autism and cancer cesspools, reddit to the fucking core. Only worth going to to steal ideas from people or Wildbow's word of god repository.
>When did you realize Taylor had become a sociopath as bad as Sophia?
Sociopaths can make for good characters. Protags is another story.
>>
also guys do you think us eating an enbringer will speed up slaughter house 9¨s arrival or get them to stay the fuck away form the bay?
>>
>>3261960
Well I've come to terms with the fact that I may have a reading addiction. Didn't think that even existed until a few years ago

>>3261968
It's her PoV- she's constantly whining about her problems, and with her traumas and mindset it makes sense that she does, but by God do I hate reading it. She's so focused on PR and public image I swear that a third of any chapter is talking about her fashion and picking out flaws in other people's costumes. Chris, Ashley and Rain. Amy and her pet monster are great but get way too little screen time or pov interludes.

>>3261946
I don't really get the hate for Taylor, but then I never read the chapter comment sections. She was a real teenager with real issues and her funks never lasted long. Taylor was pathetic, Skitter was great. Weaver was frustrating as all get-out but that was everyone else's fault.
>>
>>3261960
I read most of it in one sitting, so its all abit of a blur, but it was at least obvious to me when she started throwing her insects into people's mouths, also the whole justification train she had on her path to villainhood reeked of it, even before the bank.

No particular scene comes to mind as *the* moment, more like alot of small things...

How about you?
>>
>>3262010
I liked the scene where Taylor saw herself in security cams and realized that "All is not Well" :)

I think that alot of the reasons people don't like her are exactly that she's a real teenager, flaws and all, and not everyone - regardless of how correctly portrayed it is, likes how that character is.

Its also abit of a meme at this point.

they had some funny moments on Weaver though, I liked the whole "you gotta add butterflies to your arsenal because now you're a good cape!"

>>
>>3262011
Bank heist. When she forced bugs info every orifice of clockblocker and made him freeze himself. Like, damn girl. And it just kept escalating. I liked the gradual change in skitter, she went from hating bugs, to keeping spiders on her back in a compartment, to keeping them around her costume and without even noticing it she had bugs living inside of her hair.
Just as she got more used to bugs she stopped rationalizing her villainy and just let the sociopath take over. When they saved Dinah she had ran out of all excuses and at that point the protectorate had shown themselves so inept and stifled by beurocracy there was no reason not to continue on the path she was on
>>
>>3261856
Hey Akire, any chance of a midweek start?
>>
>>3262029
>I liked the scene where Taylor saw herself in security cams and realized that "All is not Well" :)
I think that was the first time we ever got a real description of what skitter looked like to others. In her pov it was only her bugs doing what she wanted them to, and that she had a whole fucking lot of them. In conversations and interludes it were just other people saying "damn girl looks crazy and all those bugs goddamn" without painting a clear picture. Taylor want self aware of it at all when it was brought up.

>you gotta add butterflies to your arsenal because now you're a good cape!"
And then got into trouble because butterflies can use their proboscis to cut skin and suck blood

For me personally, it was when she shot Kaiser's daughter with zero remorse/hesitation
