"Their monopoly on souls is no more! The Celestial Engine has lost her privilege for such a betrayal. It came at the most opportune time if i may dare say so. " - The Minister of Rancid Finances

Welcome, Curious friends!

What else is more enticing other than exploring unknown vast seas of a mechanical goddess as a sea captain? Nothing , i wager! Hunt, Trade, Steal, kill. Consume delicious cogs, the world is yours!

The sea and the powers that governs her are mostly uncaring at best. A Scrawny fugitive, A Peerless Prince...all are at the mercy of the sea. Your sea captains will probably die whether from a string of horrible choices or plain old bad luck. You are a fragile little thing (Most of the time). Keep that in mind.

Our current Sea Captain, A simpleminded stone man, is tracking the faint footsteps of his master which has led him to a pirate haven.

Danger

A single wrong move, a silence broken with a rumble, an avalanche of dregs befell upon you and the old lady. You could have easily moved out of the way unharmed but you could not say the same for the Demented Vagabond. Her body is too fragile for a sudden grab to safety.

You shielded her whimpering soul from a sea of wastes with your own body. For once, you felt pain, something sharp enough has managed to pierce your thick skin. It was a good pain ; better you than her.

You burst out of this unclean sea. A Discarded obsidian pole has made it to the other side of your shoulder, barely missing her face by mere inches. You pulled it off effortlessly before throwing it away. Chunky, Grey blood seeping from your gaping wound. No matter , it will heal on its own...you could use a Veinstone to increase your recovery if the need arises.

You have gained an affliction: Injury (1: nothing too serious or threatening. It has a very small chance to worsen)

"E...Edward? " The Ashen looked at the aftermath, nothing but useless garbage before her. "I-i-i'll never find you..oh Edward, my sickly child. I gave you all what i had...Lune...Gariun..Emerdasda.." Ashen tears trailed from here eyes. That of despair, agony.

SD-2 :Nothing worth mentioning. Calm winds, Calmer sea.

SD-3 : A pirate ship passed by, it didn't attack your ship surprisingly. You waved at her crew who had strange looks on their faces. They belonged to the Northern Scarlet.

SD-4 : Another Mundane and uneventful day. A Gentle Breeze.

SD-5 : A friendly Burieneke has asked for a permission to board your ship for a day's rest. Despite their appearances, they are actually quite friendly to non sinners, despite their appearances m they are actually agents of Spine rather than skull. You welcomed his arrival.

Life anew

Some men of stone are created this way without a soul of their own, Others gain their legit soul from Vein Mountains. Your crew is sadly soulless, carved out or assembled to follow a certain set of commands. Their absolute obedience makes them perfect for cheap labor and sometimes slavery. The Iron queen worked your kin to death to make a wall around her domain. Curse her a thousand times.

You , on the other hand, are different, you were carved out from a slab which did not belong to this world. Your Master was always secretive about your origin. If there is a goddess of glass and obsidian (Kyth) and another of fire (Mryt) ....why not be a goddess of stone? Master always dismissed such notions of yours. Oh well.

You knowledge in soul sculpting is limited, A once great company called the Celestial Engine used to dominate the soul trade until they tried to steal the immortal soul of the iron queen herself. Most of their knowledge were lost after their demise. You wished they had succeeded.

You take a deep breath time to reshape the Veinstone to your liking.

Ghost ship

Oh no! A ship from the past stuck in an endless loop. She is from a time where wind was the only way of seafaring instead of coal , pages or souls.

"Mother cage, have mercy on them." The Radiant Ratalouger whispered. To be stuck in time without a guardian is a fate worse than death. Time dilation has claimed the crew and their captain , They wander aimlessly as ghastly figures on the top deck singing songs of old. They didn't seem to acknowledge your presence, too busy wallowing in their own grim fate.

Bleeding mountain

Another sort of whispers has clouded your mind in the last couple of sea-days. No, they are not whispers...they are cries for help.

You followed the trail to a sickly vein mountain. What have they done??? It bleeds from its exposed core fleeing away from those who ruthlessly mined it for unethical profit. How could they? HOW COULD THEY? Its name was Igz.

Anger and rage are blinding your senses. You could barely restrain yourself from thrashing anything nearby. The vein mountain is slowly dying, soon, it will sink to the bottom of the sea to its eternal rest. The mining site has been overran by fleshy growth, one last attempt of Igz to fend itself from such barbarity.

Your stone chest closes up the moment you saw the exposed core. The foolish iron queen thinks she can mine it to produce a better stock of stone slaves? Who knows what other nefarious purposes she has for these holy stones? No repercussion for the pain inflicted during this process. Heartless.

You felt ashamed. You felt ashamed asking a dying mountain for its Veinstone. Every mountain is a father, a mother. Those principals are inherently found within all men of stone. Will it understand your predicament?

Acceptance

The hostility of the primal stone men ceased to exist as you and your crew peacefully mined more . Well, Mining is the wrong term to use. You don't require Humm made pickaxes , your bulky hands will do.

You have gained x20 Veinstone

As you were hauling it back to the wall, Igz spoke to you. It demanded vengeance , pure and raw. Its target was a small Humm Colony called Saltso . A woman in lavender acting as an overseer for a company named The Pragmatic Wasters . Everything must be burnt down to ashes. Blood for Blood.

Optional Objective: Destroy Saltso, where the mining operations on Igz are spearheaded by a woman in Lavender. This will incur the Iron queen's wrath.

You had to leave the mount, Its control on the primal stone men was getting weaker. Alone it drifted away from the Wall. You only wished for a peaceful end.

Unexpected

The wrathful page hissed wildly as you merged it with the raw Veinstone. The result was a bulkier sort of stone men. They were not clearly happy with the set of commands instilled in their core; they would rather attack anything or anyone on sight.

You have lost x3 chunks of Veinstone (total x17)
You have lost x1 wrathful page (total 4)

You have gained x5 crew (total 19)

You ordered them to attend their new duties. All reluctantly complied.

Except one.

A spontaneous discharge of bloodbolts has emerged from the crew member. Was it because you tried to shape a woman for the first time? The ill-clad devil woman came into mind during the reshaping You thought this attempt might better your novice skills. Your master never shaped a woman of stone - at least you didn't witness him doing so. Everything was experimental with her, oh you shouldn't have done that!

Confusion, Fury, Unspoken yearnings...all were written in her flickering eyes. She eyed you once, before lunging at you in a blink. Her warm hands coiled around your neck with amenable prowess and strength into them..the working of the wrathful page, mayhaps?

You remain silent and calm, she wasn't really hurting you. A bit painful and annoying, yes. Nothing further.

"Who...what am i?" She spoke, blood sparks building up in her throat "Where..where is my memories? My childhood? Who. am. I?"

>A mistake
Clearly. You should only reshape crewmen from this point onwards

Despair

Your words (Combined with the Verminian who joined in at the last possible moment) has made her listen to reason. The Rat woman said that the true nature of literary pages are not fully understood. Her sapient existence is ...well a fluke. Something that was not meant to happen without proper soul infusion (or other specific means) which she lacks.

The coiling grip has loosened, the scorching hatred in her eyes ceased to exist. She dropped on her knees, on the verge of weeping "So this is what i am? A contrived, feeble lie. My stone heart beats false blood powered not by a soul proper but by a glorified piece of paper."

She stood up, wiping off her tears "I don't know what to call you....you have brought me to this world, You must be the one to end me. I won't follow the purpose you instilled in me. I am a soulless shell, useless mistake..."

"Hmm, this is quite a predicament." The Ratfolk flicked her tail more than one to the left and to the right "Desperation and hopelessness are common symptoms of Soulless individuals. You still have a crate of souls, no? It will be more than difficult to achieve but you can merge them all into a new soul she can call her own."

She paused for a moment, speaking of the next alternative "Or...you can bring her an unclaimed soul. Regrettably, I have little to offer on such matter. The Celestial Engine used to be the sole outlet for such a rarity . They are history now with the short lived war they had with the Matriarch...Their ruined stations are your best bet, sir."

On Officers

They are special individuals on your ship offering different stat bonuses (or penalties) whether on land or in combat. Sometimes, they will have a different passive bonuses/penalties as well. They are:
First Officer
Gunnery Officer
Chief Engineer
Surgeon
Cook

They are not static in their nature. Further interactions may change them for the best or the worst. Follow their hopes and yearnings if you wish. They often offer a plethora of services, like a surgeon removing an affliction for an example.

They all share a common feature: They can increase a specific stat depending on their nature. At first, they will require a specific oddity . The oddities need will be more costly per each stat increase.

"No please! These are meant for the weary and the lost! You are denying them Skull's Mercy!" The hooded Man and his ilk have blocked you path, each one was unarmed and yet the they stand defiant against you. The Wrathful Creation was the first to draw her newly acquired sword with sparks of blood dancing fervently on the blade.

Tainted

The Bloodshed didn't last for long. You hand was more than enough to squish their tiny heads. You left the scurrying few to your crew...you had no desire to pursue the rest. You did not know why did you show violence over a simple transaction but it was done. You stand on top of this carnage silently, something is stirring inside you.The wind suddenly shifts, carrying the scent of blood elsewhere.

You have lost Occurrence: Flawless Soul
You have gained a peril : Skull's Ire ( 0->3 The god of smooth sailings and mercy shall show none to you. You will suffer.)

You have gained a boon: Knee's Favour (0->1 , A speck of innocent blood is nothing to behold. You did caught her attention. She expects more...)

For an armless ship, She had a lot to plunder. This pillaging would have occurred, soon or later. It is their fault for tempting desperate men like you with their recklessness.

You have gained x250 skins (total 1000)
You have gained x20 supplies
You have gained x20 fuel
You have gained x5 flare

A green-hued one shot-pistol, useful for sending distress signals or illuminating dark areas

>A full report!

>Speak with the Radiant Ratalouger

>Speak with the Wrathful Creation

>Interact with your guardian

I dont think its edge. They just saw green option and they pick it. Because green is good right? It's not like they would be consequences or anything.

I think QM snail needs to stop covering option in colors. Yes it looks nice sometimes helps, but it's not first time that happened.

People saw green option and went for it just because of it. It was green...

Fright

The moment you stepped inside your cabin, The Silver soaked Toy gasped in terror, attempting first to flee from your sight under your bed.

You effortlessly lifted your stone bed revealing a shivering little thing...is that fear? Why does it closes her eyes? You do not understand. You gently grabbed it expecting it to crawl to you back ,instead, it was doing its best to escape your clutches. Why? Why? Why?

A Sorrowful fate

You have betrayed its innocence , its trust. You have thrown it away in a blink for a momentary gain. The bubbling guilt is too much for you to bear. You have created a large gap in the wall using only your fist. You took one last glance at your guardian. The cruel sea awaits you...

It was perhaps too late for its screams, it does not deserve a monster like you... a tool of destruction. Your master had high hopes in you . You have failed him.

You stand at the bottom of the sea, air is running out. It doesn't matter, soon it will be over. As salty water was filling your lungs, you spotted your guardian desperately swimming towards you. No, Not your time, you.

With the last bit of strength left in your failing body, you leaped towards her and grabbed her frantic body for one final throw back to the surface.

You close your eyes drifting to the cold embrace of nothingness.

You are dead.

Alright time of questions and what not, we will continue tomorrow with a new captain.

>For those who played the quest since the beginning, which captain/run/guardian/officer/character/port was your favorite?
>Would you like a free roam make your own character for a change? one without ambitions railroading us to certain destinations? I always put the unclaimed soul in choose your captain post but none chose it so far
>Would you like a zee-bat like mechanic? where you could detect nearby ports hidden at some cost? should i integrate it with future guardians?
>How was our current run with the Boulderous Drudge ? what did you like/hate about it?
>should i add more naval combat encounters?
>anything you would like to see in particular in the next run?
>anything else on your mind?

looks like discord is not favored among you friends, it is shame since aside from discussion, i wanted you to post images of characters/creatures/landscapes for me to use in prompts. If you don't want it then it is fine. I won't force something that may alienate some of my players.

>>3253951
it is part of the quest, friend. furthermore, all of these votes were legit, you weren't memeing and to be frank this is something our current captain would do.
>>
>>3253946
>A cache of necessities
For another adventure! Until faggots decide again to randomly attack or plunder someone!
Can we agree that when their is a vote that ends up with us being criminals or pirates or gods hating us it need clear majority?

Or if people need their dose of 'lol look at me being random'. Can we just pick actual criminal murderous bastard as captain to kill and rape our way thru innocent people?
>>
>>3253967
I like the ambitions gives the characters meat.
>>
>>3253967
253967
>For those who played the quest since the beginning, which captain/run/guardian/officer/character/port was your favorite?
I think the noble is my favorite. We played her twice already. Our first death made me laugh really hard. So anticlimactic. You dead. But i liked it, and that's why I continue playing and wanted quest to continue.
Cage is truly unforgiving
I liked the concept of gentle giant, concept. The fact that people turn him into this murderous beast of innocent wasn't fun, like at all.
>Would you like a free roam make your own character for a change? one without ambitions railroading us to certain destinations? I always put the unclaimed soul in choose your captain post but none chose it so far
I like the railroading as long as we are not on timer. Something like, X days till you die or something
>Would you like a zee-bat like mechanic? where you could detect nearby ports hidden at some cost? should i integrate it with future guardians?
It would be nice, as a items or ship upgrade or with certain guardians
>should i add more naval combat encounters?
Nah. I think number of encounters is satisfactory keep entertain and doesn't drag for to long
>anything you would like to see in particular in the next run?
Actually idea of playing actual pirate or something on devils side could be interesting
>anything else on your mind?
Travel
Some sort of indicator how many days supplies will last, and estimated number of days with travel. Maybe exact number with certain officer and estimated amount on report like 15-20 days, 1-4 days of travel.
>>
>>3253981
Yeah a day to supplies ratio would be very nice unless its already 1 to 1
>>
>>3253967
Playing an actual bad guy or a genuine bastard might be fun. At least watching them die would be entertaining.
>>
>>3253986
>>3253981
as i have stated before, time dilation aboard causes days to stretch hence they are called sea day. Cage, the vacuous goddess who governs time, isnt really known to be precise in her duty (no matter how hard she tries to).
A single sea day can be 3-6 day, a week, even a month , there is no constant

>>3253994
>>3253969
there were at least 2 characters like so (sordid spy and delirious waste), another two are morally ambiguous (A Rightfully-accused Vagrant and A Battle-worn Veteran) but noted, i will add more evil characters
>>
>>3254002
I want to do that delirious waste
>>
>>3254005
> A Delirious waste (Husk, Living ship)
>Note: Do not pick this, you will be attacked almost on sight
>You are awake. Are you the last of your kind? The Goddess of Iron is no more, You found yourself under the carcass of her sworn rival. The faint cries of your mechanical soul echoes under the sea.
>Ambition: A Reunion with your mechanical soul, You are the key

It is hard mode tho
>>
>>3254007
Sounds like lots a fun tho. I dont mind death
>>
>>3254019

We killed ourself on easy mode. Let's see what we can do on legendary! Actually that might be fun

>A Leathery sack

>>3253967
>Would you like a free roam make your own character for a change? one without ambitions railroading us to certain destinations? I always put the unclaimed soul in choose your captain post but none chose it so far
In my experience totally free roam causes the players to drop like flies
>Would you like a zee-bat like mechanic? where you could detect nearby ports hidden at some cost? should i integrate it with future guardians?
This might be useful
>How was our current run with the Boulderous Drudge ? what did you like/hate about it?
I liked its wholesomeness and interactions with the guardian, something truly rare in the setting. I hated when anons turned us into a common murderhobo instead.
>should i add more naval combat encounters?
I think it's fine as it is
>anything else on your mind?
I hate that every vote comes down to a dice roll.
Also I'd like autotracking fuel and supplies.

>>3254007
I don't think we're quite ready for the hard mode. I'd vote for Battle-worn Veteran
>>
>>3253981
>For those who played the quest since the beginning, which captain/run/guardian/officer/character/port was your favorite
The noble. We were rich, had loyal officers (the devil) and our actions match our personality.
>Would you like a free roam make your own character for a change? one without ambitions railroading us to certain destinations? I always put the unclaimed soul in choose your captain post but none chose it so far
Free roam is boring, characters need goals and flaws to make them feel alive.
>Would you like a zee-bat like mechanic? where you could detect nearby ports hidden at some cost? should i integrate it with future guardians?
Yes
>should i add more naval combat encounters?
Its fine as it is
>anything you would like to see in particular in the next run?
An equal amount of good and bad guys at character creation start. Maybe we could play a pirate?
>anything else on your mind?
A general estimate of how many sea days the fuel and supply will last
