“Fire!”

Your next shot goes straight into the Object’s tracks. It explodes into the tracks, busting one of them. Rosehip and Elyse come around and fire their own shots too. Their shots smack and hit against the tracks and suspension, enough that you see one of the track links snap. The Object stops as one of the tracks goes lame from the ensuing barrage. “Alright, retreat, retreat!” You all run away down the road. Rosehip and Elyse cross in front of the Object, popping smoke to rub salt in the wound and ensure your escape.

“I hate heavy tanks, hate them, hate them!” screams Rosehip.

“Hey, at least heavy tanks die!” Elyse shouts. “That Object is a goddamn nightmare! We can’t stop it!”

“We can, if only we had the rest of the team!” Denise says, trying to calm everyone. “Maybe Oryola is coming back with the others!”

“Nearly all of ZES is in this town now, they’re going to find Griselda eventually!” says Elyse. All you of you stop up at an intersection to talk tactics. Elyse says, “Elodie, Mei isn’t too far, if we swarm her all at once we could win it!”

“Mei’s not stupid, she knows to stay within firing range of reinforcements!” Rosehip shouts back. “If we try to attack her, we could get wiped and leave Griselda without a guard!”

Griselda says, “Guys, listen.” Everyone shuts up, listening over the radio. “I know things look bad right now. But we have to remain calm. Rosehip’s right. I can’t risk you guys all going after Mei. But I know that Oryola and the others won’t just abandon us either. They’ll know to go towards the sound of guns.” You all keep quiet, waiting on Griselda’s word. “Let’s run delaying actions. If we can keep Mei and company in this town running around like headless chickens until dawn or the others come by, we’ll win. I promise you that.”

“We can do it,” says Rosehip. She looks at you. “Elodie, how do you want to run this?”

This is going to be hard to do with us outnumbered, though. What is the lineup?
I think we should try a false attack on the Object, try and draw as many tanks to it as possible. Don't commit to actually taking it out unless a opportunity presents itself. I can't help but feel that aside from being tougher to kill its not anymore dangerous in city fighting than any of Mei's other tanks, they can all cream us at close range. Its easier to de-track at any rate.

So if any tanks go to cover the Object, try and set up a few one shot and scoot ambushes where we have secure lines of escape, with Maria keeping an eye ou for flanking attempts

If we can even get two of them at a time, that’ll give Oryola and the others more time to get here and reinforce us,” you say. “Now, Rosehip, Rosehip.” You snap your fingers, getting her attention. She looks at you, raring to go already. “I need you to make another strike at the Object, nothing serious. Take Elyse with you. Maria, Denise, you two will stay with me, you guys will cover my flanks and secure routes of escape. They know the Object is valuable to their plan, so they’ll do their best to cover it. We haven’t fully killed its ability to move but we will make it a giant paperweight. You guys got that?”

“Yeah!” Elyse pumps her fist, grinning. “We’re ready!”

“Alright, break!” Everyone turns back in. “Alright, Josephina. You heard all of that?”

“Oui.” Josephina pops her knuckles and readies herself. “I can do this, I can do this…” she says to herself quietly.

“Relax, Josie,” Ingrid says. “Worst case scenario, we get knocked out and lose the match.”

Stack looks down at Ingrid. “So basically we lose our pride and everything we’ve worked for becomes for nothing?”

“… okay, when you put it like that, Stack.” Ingrid shakes her head. “Let’s not-“

“Shush.” Winona quiets everyone. “We got work to do.”

Your tanks begin to head out once more. You lean back, taking a breath. Just think, think for a moment. If you strike at the Object again, Mei might try and rally everyone else in to help. Maybe another opportunity to hit her will surface.

As you get traveling, Ingrid calls you. “Elodie! I’m picking up radio signals! It’s Oryola!” Oryola!?

“Put me through!” You take your radio. “Oryola?”

Static bursts through the receiver. But then you hear her swearing in Russian. “Blyat!” Yeah, that’s her. “Solnyshka, is that you?”

“It is! We’re glad to hear from you, where are you!?”

“We are being closing in on the city, maybe about an hour from now!” An hour, shit. “But we have the others rallied with us!”

“Ellie, can you hear us?” asks Suvorov. “We managed to give our pursuers the slip, we’re coming in from the east now!”

“We’ll give those bastards something to chew on!” screams Serafina. “I’ll show them what for!”

“We’ll avenge Dalia!” screams Benny. “No one messes with Automotive fans!”

“Calm down, not everyone at once,” Orange Peko says. “It is true, we’ve rallied together. As Oryola stated, our ETA is an hour out. What do you want for us to do?”

So far, it's just you, Denise, Maria, Rosehip, Elyse, and Griselda in the city with most ( if not all) of Mei's forces. Everyone else is an hour out.

The forces should stick to the plan we have, that should tie Mei up until reinforcements arrive. For the tanks just coming in-

Send some of the more mobile tanks to reinforce us directly. The rest should fortify a spot closish to us but away from Griselda. Try and have only a few visible, with te rest conceled as best as possible. I'm thinking we might be able to trick them int thinking its Griselda's actual location and getting them to commit. Since the new tanks coming in are some of the heavy hitters, it should be most of their team. Between the concealed tanks and us coming at their flanks we should be able to at least occupy most of the team. If Mei is with them we might commit too. If not, focus on buying time while us a nd some fast movers hut for Mei.

“Alright, here’s what I want you guys to do. Suvorov, Benny, Kathy, I need you guys up here with me now. The rest of you go and fortify a place near to us. Try and see if you can bait them towards you. If you guys can get them to commit to attacking you all, that’d be wonderful!” Mei likely won’t fall for something like that, but maybe her team will. After all, they were just pursued towards you all, they might not think that Griselda is with them. But a huge chunk of heavy tanks suddenly appearing to the flank will surely get them to panic a little. “Rest of us, stick to the plan.”

“Got it!” everyone shouts. The others are an hour out but that doesn’t mean stop what you’re doing. You still gotta divide and conquer here.

Your tanks rush down onto the streets. Rosehip and Elyse split off at an intersection while, Denise, and Maria take the other. You should outnumber her here by all means. Mei will know that.

As you go down the street, you feel your ear twitching again. Wait. “Stop!” You all brake to a halt. A shot flies ahead of you across the street, slamming into the building. Coming around the corner is a T-54. “Forward now!” You rush across the gun, as do Maria and Denise. The T-54, backed up by two more come out from around the corner to pursue you.

“Split up!” yells Maria. “We’ll go left and come back around! Follow me, Denise!” Denise follows Maria into a side street. Right. You got three T-54s behind you, what now?

“Push it to the limit, Josephina, let’s take these guys for a ride!”

Your tank goes speeding down the street with the T-54s in hot pursuit. One of the T-54s however hangs back, really far back. Shit. They’re suspecting something. “Maria, Denise, one’s holding way back, don’t go out just yet!”

“Roger that!” says Denise.

You come around a corner then keep speeding down. The two T-54s follow, followed by the one. Maria and Denise come around behind, having waited for the third T-54 at your call. They fire their two pounders (Maria with her own having a Littlejohn Adapter). However, predictably, their shots bounce straight off the curved and eggy turret of the T-54 they’re pursuing. It turns around on a dime, facing its front to them as it reverse with the group. The two T-54s pursuing you slow down to the speed of the reversing T-54. Damn!

“Shit!” yells Maria. “Evade!” They dodge the return shot of the T-54 and immediately speed into the nearby alley.

“This is Rosehip, I’ve pulled two T-54s away from the Object!” she yells.

“Same!” says Elyse. “I’m trying to keep the speed up but these T-54s are a lot more agile than I thought!”

“They’re Cold War tanks, they can keep up!” Rosehip says.

Ingrid keeps tracking everyone on the map. “Wait. Rosehip, I think we’re about to cross this intersection the same time you are.”

“How soon?” asks Rosehip.

You blink. “Josephina, speed up now!”

She puts it into top gear, speeding the tank through the four way intersection. Rosehip comes by in the perpendicular direction.

The T-54s?

They crash and pile up amongst each other. One of them is hit so hard the tracks fly off.

“Haha!” yells Rosehip. “Nice one!”

That wasn’t intentional but you’ll take it! You take a look at your watch.

Another thirty minutes before Oryola gets here. Just have to keep delaying.

Maria and Denise manage to rejoin with you once they get past the pile up. “Elyse, where’s the Object?”

“I’ve managed to get it to follow me!” says Elyse. “But detracking it is a kind of challenge because two other T-54s are following it!” she says. “I’m going eastbound!”

Ingrid looks back at you. “We might intercept her at the pace we’re going.”

“I’m trying to draw it towards the residential districts, the streets get narrower there and we can trap it!” says Elyse. Good idea. “Elodie, if you could help try and push them to following me, I think we could probably get a kill on this giant pancake of a tank!”

Rosehip says, “I’ll do my best to cover as well! Those T-54s we left in the dust won’t be immobile for long!”

You come up around behind the T-54s and the Object. They pursue at fast pace with Elyse in front of them. You can see the high apartment blocks and parking garages set up in the city that Elyse is taking them to. “After them, Josephina!”

The T-54s turn their turrets around, then fire at you. Their shots scrape and shoot past as you pursue. You fire back. One of the T-54s splits off, heading into a side street. Denise and Maria have already seen him and pull back to pursue. They think they can turn around and give it to you from behind. But you already have your trusty sidekicks to protect you!

Elyse pulls into a lot between an apartment complex and a huge parking garage. “Solnyshka, this is Oryola! I’ve entered the city from the west, I can hear the rumblings of the Object already!”

“Alright!” you say. You take a breath. Right, think, think. “Elyse, we need to stop the Object somehow!”

“I know!” screams Elyse. The Object fires. The shot flies past and slams into a building, completely knocking out the entire side of it. Son of a bitch! “That was close!” The other T-54 continues to follow.

Right, how do you stop this thing!?

“Winona, when you get sight on it, I want you to hit them where it hurts!”

“Got it!” says Winona. Elyse herds the Object around into a street between the parking garage and the apartments. Elyse fires, shredding one of the tracks. You come up behind. The T-54 weaves and bobs, presenting its side trying to interpose itself between you and the Object. “Come on, come on… Josephina, give me a foot forward!” Josephina takes the tank forward, putting the tank at a slight angle. “There!” She fires.

The shot flies, flying through the tracks and wheels of the T-54 and bouncing off the ground before slamming into the Objects tracks. The tracks split apart, coming undone like a thread pulling a sweater apart. The Object stops but does not yield. It fires.

The shot slams into Elyse’s side. “We’re done for! GIVE ‘EM HELL AAAAHH!”

You fire at the T-54. The shot goes wide and it fires back. The shot nicks across your engine grate, nearly managing a good hit. “Back us up!” You go back around the corner of the parking garage. “Oryola, can you hear me!?”

“Yeah!” says Oryola. “Keep the T-54 distracted, I am already on my way! And I know exactly how I will kill the Object!” Alright, you have faith. The T-54 comes around the corner, firing. You duck the shot. It goes wide and crashes into a building. You’re really turning this city into a warzone, goddamn!

“Fire again!” you shout. The shot rips into the T-54s side, making it spin around before it comes to a rest. And yet it doesn’t pop. Shit! Not enough damage probably! You slam your fist on the hatch, glaring at it. “Come on, Winona, we need to do better here!”

Stack shoves in a new round into the breech. “Up!”

“Firing!” yells Winona.

The shot this time deflects against the top of the turret. “Shit!” you yell. The T-54 comes back around the corner. “Pursue, pursue!” Your tank starts forward again, again heading into the street where the Object is. The T-54 and the Object now have both guns turned on you. “Stop!”

The shots fly. They shoot down the street and explode against the building down the lot. You hear the rumbling however of another tank coming. “Buy me two minutes!” says Oryola.

“Another shot!” You fire. The shot misses the T-54 and bounces against the Object. Fucking shit! Oryola, where are you!? The T-54 starts coming back at you once more.

“Alright, get ready to-“ You look at something up on top of the parking garage. What the hell is that!?

It’s Oryola!

Her ISU-152 smashes through the guard rail and goes sailing down to the ground. ORYOLA WHAT THE FUCK

It smashes down on top of the Object. The remaining tracks snap and explode apart. The hull starts crumpling underneath the weight. And the gun gets bent down and folded under one of the tracks. Smoke pops out from the back of Oryola’s ISU-152. But more definitely, you see a flag pop out from the Object.

“Oil pressure appears to be jumping around but we are fine,” says Oryola. She drops off the Object, reversing up next to you. “We are going to be going to defend Griselda, da?”

“Yeah. We’ll rally at the false position first, then head to Griselda to check on her,” you say.

“This is Orange Pekoe, we are engaged heavily!” she reports. “At least five or six T-54s we can see!” That’s quite the commitment! Alright, you’ll rally with them first!

You and Oryola pull out into the open and see your heavy tank reinforcements dug in outside, facing against the firepower of at least 7 T-54s. Goddamn! The heavy tanks are in a wedge formation, firing away against them. If you can take down the T-54s here, you might deal a good blow against Mei.

Oryola says, “We should hit them from range, get them to divide their forces!”

“We’re going to try and block her off!” says Benny. “Before she gets close to Griselda!”

“She doesn’t know where Griselda is, don’t do anything to reveal her location,” you order. “Be careful!”

“We’ll do our best!” says Benny. “Vamos!”

Orange Pekoe and crew start advancing forward. “Slow advance! We’ll start squeezing Mei in from the north!” You take a look at the map once more. The T-54s just escaped back into the city. Mei was going southbound so… With the Object gone and now with your reinforcements gathered up. That means Mei needs to gather up all her forces.

Yes, that’s it. Mei’s going for one last push. Alright. You’ll meet her toe to toe then.
