In the far future, biotechnology advances by leaps and bounds, creating stunning achievements in medical, civil, and military applications. Illness becomes a thing of the past, and genetic modification is as commonplace as cosmetic surgery.

However, like all great advances, unchecked progress and experimentation has led to abuse and corruption. Ultra powerful megacorporations that monopolized the latest biotech have risen to be the great powers of the age, waging secret wars of sabotage, espionage, and deceit to get ahead of each other.

In order to fuel their rampant growth, megacorps develop lethal diseases and viruses, horrific bio-organic abominations, and ever more exotic genetic modifications to both sell to the highest bidder and unleash upon each other.

The rampant proliferation of bioweapons, and the need to contain them, has given rise to a new profession, the BIOWEAPON HUNTER.

You are LEWIS, a Hunter specializing in hunting down biological threats with your T-Doll companion HK!

"Of course you'd show up here." Lucina sighs in exasperation. "I never should have let them put that that call for consultants."

"Aw come on, it's as if you're not happy to see me." You grin.

Currently, you were at the Raccoon City Police Academy, which ironically enough wasn't actually in the city itself, nestled in a remote corner of the Arklay Mountains just on the outskirts. That mean the facility had plenty of space to dedicate to outdoor training activities, which was apparently why this whole T-Doll proving ground was being held there.

You yourself had only just arrived with HK in tow. Now that you think about it, this was your first time out here.

Honestly, this training facility was pretty awesome. Flush with Umbrella money, the RCPD really went all out on the place. Not only was the main building large and modernized, but the large outdoor training areas were where all the action was.

Not only was there the standard open exercise field with a race track, athletic equipment, and sports field, but there was practically an entire small town built in the mountains, it's sole use as a simulated patrol area for future officers. There was even a large and fully stocked outdoor shooting range.

And out here in the middle of nowhere, you could use practically any kind of ordinance you wanted without disturbing the neighbors.

"Well, it's not like I can kick you out." Lucina sighs. "Anyways, the trials won't be beginning for a little while yet..."

"Oh? Inviting me out?" You grin.

"I just want to make sure you don't get bored, wander off, and damage something from some stupid stunt." Lucina glowers.

"I wouldn't allow something like that." HK states.

"I trust you, HK, just not Lewis." Lucina specifies.

"Gee, thanks." You sigh.

"I was thinking we'd get a look at the new T-Dolls." You say. "You know, get a little preview of what we're going up against?"

"I suppose that makes sense." Lucina sighs. "Well, they're being held in the ready area, it's a short walk over."

Lucina motions for you to follow her as she heads over to a small flat area on the field, where you could see a number of containers and trailers set up in a temporary field base. White coated scientists were shuffling in all directions while a few visibly armed cops were standing guard over the area. Overhead, a helicopter hummed in the distance, observing events from above.

Lucina takes the lead while HK brings up the rear. It was still going to be a little while until you reached the field camp.

"So, these new T-Dolls, were the your idea?" You ask her.

"Not exactly...." Lucina sighs. "I suppose you can call them corporate sponsorships, of a type."

"Oh? Barely a month as Chief and you're already selling out?" You gasp in mock shock.

"Please." Lucina rolls her eyes. "If anything, it's to help remove dependence on Umbrella for funds."

"Because you're taking money from their rivals? Or because you don't actually have to pay T-Dolls?" You openly wonder.

"...yes." Lucina answers cryptically, not even pausing or slowing her pace.

Well, you decided to stay quiet. After all, the RCPD was Lucina's to run.

Finally, you reach the field camp, where you see three large, black coffin-like containers that the scientists were swarming all around.

"So, we have units for three primary roles we're thinking about filling." Lucina explains as she motions to the three coffins. "A heavy armored unit for breaching and riot control, a smaller general purpose patrol unit, and a specialized sniper unit."

"Are they new models?" HK wonders.

"Yes, but specialized for police work, so their parameters aren't quite up to the military grade you and ST-AR are designed to." Lucina replies.

HK nods, but there's a subtle frown in her expression. Did she really not like being compared to ST-AR?

"Anyways, since we're here, I suppose you can give your input on which unit you want to see tested first."

"Well, I guess the police is always in need of a good sniper." You say.

"All right, then." Lucina nods and nods to the scientists, who hit a keypad and one of the coffins begins to open with a low hiss.

And inside, you could see a tall, blonde T-Doll awaken and climb out of the coffin, immediately saluting Lucina.

"Sniper Variant Model 98, reporting for duty." The sniper T-Doll introduces herself in a rather cheerful fashion. "Though my default designation is SV!"

"It's nice to meet you." Lucina nods. "Do you know why you're here?"

"The mission data that's been pre-uploaded indicates that I am here for field trials." SV states. "I can demonstrate my capabilities in a controlled or simulated test environment."

"Hm, is that so?" Lucina smirks and glances at you.

HK stares silently.

"Yep, figured you'd say that." Lucina rolls her eyes. "Good thing I've got a bunch of trainees and instructors wiling to volunteer."

She then nods to the line of officers assembled just outside the field camp. There were about two dozen of them, who all salute and start hustling to the simulated town.

"Okay, let's see how cruel you want to be to SV here." Lucina says as she hands you folder full of possible training scenarios.

HOSTAGE RESCUE: A standard hostage rescue. SV must support a tactical team as they breach fortified area to rescue a VIP.

THREAT ASSESSMENT: SV most observe a wide, heavily populated area and discriminate and neutralize any targets that pose an imminent threat.

"You'll be performing threat assessment." Lucina continues, pointing to a map. "You'll start pre-deployed on this bell tower here, where you must perform surveillance over a wide area, identify a threat hidden among the civilian populace, and neutralize it without any civilian casualties. Are we clear on that?"

"Affirmative." SV salutes again. "I am ready to start!"

"Good." Lucina nods. "Get moving, then."

SV nods and heads off to the armory van, not even missing a beat. As SV drops out of sight, Lucina turns back to you.

"All right, I know how you work." Lucina grunts. "What kind of curveball are you planning to throw at her?"

You are the the SNIPER VARIANT T-DOLL, "SV" for short.

Currently, you were in the armory trying to decide on what primary weapon to bring for this trial exercise. Your mission directives have stated that you were to perform the best of your ability, and hopefully earn the favor the clients.

Well, you creators didn't program you to be competitive for nothing.

You pause for a microsecond as additional mission details are uploaded to your memory. Apparently, additional field conditions were being set for your exercise, where you would have to discriminate and neutralize your designated threat in the middle of a protest situation.

This was slightly concerning. This mean that the target would be mingled and in very close proximity to bystanders.

Your weapon choice would be important for this situation. You scan what is available in the armory van.

You note that there is the standard RCPD sniper rifle, which was high power and high precision, but very low rate of fire on the account of being bolt action. That meant you'd have zero room for error. Even with your enhanced reflexes and robot body, the seconds it would take to manually work the bolt were simply too much. There was also the concern that the high power of the rifle would cause the round to overpenetrate and hit a bystander, especially in a crowd.

That was why the RCPD also had a lower power variant. It was no less precise, but the slower velocity would reduce effective range, meaning you'd have to account for larger variables at longer distances, or you'd have to close the distance yourself and risk being spotted.

Or, there was a magazine fed semiautomatic rifle. While not nearly as precise as the bolt actions, you could fire additional shots in quick succession, giving you a far greater margin of error.

while low power might seem nicer for less accidental penetration, the shorter effective range, reduced accuracy and low rate of fire means it's less responsive in a situation where the number of targets is unknown and a fast reaction speed coupled with fast reload would be needed to eliminate threats quickly and efficiently in a chaotic environment.

You pick out the low power bolt action. You were confident that your built in targeting systems would be able to compensate for the weapon's theoretical lower effective range. After all, you were specifically built for this with more advanced optics and marksmanship software than standard T-Dolls.

With your chosen weapon in hand, you exit the armor and could see Chief Lucina, your client, as well as the private consultants watching you as you made your way to the exercise area. One of them, you note, was a T-Doll as well. You briefly wonder whether you should make wireless contact with her or not, bu decide against it. You had a demonstration to perform, after all.

It takes a few minutes to get yourself set up in the bell tower, your pre-programmed knowledge of almost every sniper rifle ever made allowing you to set up your weapon in record time.

There's a loud wail from hidden loudspeakers, indicating that the exercise had started. Down below, you could see various 'civilians' gathered in quite the large crowd. You knew from your mission data that these were all just Dolls following programmed subroutines, as they gathered together and shouted and jeered at a line of police officers.

This would be a challenge. While your observation abilities excelled at focusing on a single target, you weren't quite as effective at wide area surveillance. You pause as you wonder what would be more efficient. Your logic code determined that if there was to be a hostile in the crowd, they would likely be targeting the police, so it would make sense to focus your efforts on the frontline.

However, that would certainly be a gamble. The safer play would be to keep your eye on the entire crowd, even if it wasn't nearly as efficient.

You decide to be safe and try to keep track of the entire crowd. After all, as a prospective member of the Raccoon City Police Department, you shouldn't make a habit of taking unnecessary risks. You sweep your scope across the whole crowd, your artificial eyes drawing in as many details as they could and storing them away in your flash memory. All you needed as a tell. Suddenly, there's screaming and the crowd begins to scatter in all directions. You don't catch it at first, but your optics quickly tell you that one of the protesters stabbing another indiscriminately with a knife. The victim was knocked down on his back, but was desperately trying to ward away his attacker's strikes in a deadly struggle. Grimacing at being unable to prevent the attack, the next best thing you had was to limit the damage.

With your precision rifle, you realistically only had one shot before the victim was killed or seriously injured. In a flash, your threat resolution programming was running at full capacity, running the numbers on innumerable scenarios.

Center of mass shot would be the most reliable method to hit, but what if the assailant had biomods to give them additional resilience? A headshot would guarantee neutralization but it was a smaller and more difficult target.

Or perhaps you could disarm the assailant and let the officers on the ground handle the rest.

You fire, your reinforced frame barely being affected by the rifle as it bucks from the recoil. The assailant's chest explodes in a cloud of white artificial blood. It spasms and twitches before its body locks up.

And in unison, the rest of the "civilians" likewise freeze in place now that the exercise was over.

"All right, that's all for now, SV." Chief Lucina says through your comms. "Return to base camp for debrief."

"Roger that." You nod as you start packing up your weapon.

"So, what did you think?" Lucina asks you as you watch SV's little demonstration.

"True enough." Lucina nods. "We'll be moving on to the heavy support and patrol models now. We'll see how well they'll perform."

"Looking forward to it." You grin.

HK remains ominously silent as the other two coffins begin to slide open.

"I guess we can take a go with the patrol unit." You say.

"Right then." Lucina nods the scientists, and one of the coffin cover practically pops open, revealing a T-Doll with short brown hair. She was of slightly shorter than average height, giving her the appearance of a teenager more than an adult. Her cheery demeanor did nothing to dispel that image, either.

"Hey there!" The T-Doll says happily. "I'm Grizzly, though can just call me Grizz for short!"

"Indeed." HK adds coolly.

"All right, we've got a wide selection of vehicles here." Lucina hands you a tablet. "Now, a lot of these vehicle are clunkers that nobody will miss, but still, please don't try to cause too much damage."

"Heh." You simply chuckle, earning a resigned head shake from Lucina.

Well, Grizzly's gotta be prepared for anything, right? So you throw in a few assault rifles, some handguns, a grenade launcher, and even a rocket launcher for good measure. You know, just to keep her on her toes.

With your vehicle and weapons fully ready, it was time to start. You see the road leading up to the simulated town and get into the sedan, driving slowly up to it. As far as you knew, Grizzly was already out there patrolling the streets, though you wouldn't know what she was packing.

Heh, well, if you were gonna get pulled over, you might as well give the cops a good reason to. The moment you're within the limits of the simulated town, you stamp down on the accelerator and your sedan goes screeching down the street, the roar of the engine echoing through the town. In addition to the unsafe speed, you make a few rapid turns at intersections and knock over a few trash cans on the sidewalk. It felt nice being able to drive this recklessly in an almost consequence free environment!

And as if on cue, you hear a siren as Grizzly, mounted on a RCPD police bike, comes whipping around the corner behind you, sirens blaring and lights flashing.

Damn, well, looks like you'll have to do as she says, at least for now. You hit the brakes and pull over to the side of the road like the T-Doll requests, rolling to a stop. Grizzly keeps pace, parking her bike right behind your car.

You eye her warily as she dismounts her bike. You note the large caliber handgun holstered at her hip. That sort of hand cannon would be impossible for a regular person to carry and shoot, much less the young girl Grizzly was supposed to represent.

Grizzly then walks up to your rolled own window, still smiling cheerfully. That kind of caught you off guard, but you then remember she's programmed to be like that.

"Sir, do you know why I stopped you today?" She asks politely.

IRL sovereign citizens are an extreme situation for a patrol officer as they reject and resist any of your authority, are usually armed and are kind of batshit crazy so they are hard to talk down. Its too bad we don't have HK, pissing off two sovereign citizens is a fast way to get a mini Waco going.

"No, but I know this is a violation of my rights!" You scowl. "I am a sovereign citizen and therefore not subject to any laws or statutes set forth by your nation or municipality."

"Oh." Grizzly says simply, and you swear her demeanor instantly changes. Her smile remains, but her body language is different, changing from being nonthreatening to extremely threatening as she leans forward, her head going through the open window and entering your car.

"License and registration, please." She says coldly, still smiling.

You get the feeling whoever programmed her knew very well the routine you were trying to pull here.

"Am I being detained?" You ask.

"Sir-"

"AM I BEING DETAINED?" You say even louder and more obnoxiously.

"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to calm down or else I'll have to ask you to step outside-" Grizzly starts.

"I do not consent to your demands!" You bark. "I am fully expatriated and not subject to your laws!"

Grizzly pauses. You've spent enough time with HK to know that she was running through preprogrammed subroutines and scenario calculations. A surefire tell that she was contemplating something to end the current situation...

"My apologies, but refusal to provide identification is a detainable offense under Raccoon City ordnance 35623.55." Grizzly says politely. "Consider this a final warning to comply."

Well, you were already committed to the bit, so you glare at Grizzly straight in the eye.

"I. Do. Not. Consent." You state.

"I see." Grizzly nods. "ARREST MODE ACTIVATED."

And that's when Grizzly tears the car door off like it was made of cardboard.

Even if she manages to subdue us, she still needs more training as she went about this whole stop in the wrong way. Escalating the situation is a sure fire way to wind up going all Rodney King on somebody; opening up the PD to all sorts of lawsuits. Plus even for a robot sticking her head in though the window is dumb and asking for trouble.

OH SHIT this was NOT part of of the plaaaaaaaan!

Before you're even aware of it, your flight instinct kicks in. Your hand activates the engine and puts it in gear at the same moment you stamp down on the accelerator. The car lurches forward, causing Grizzly to pull back and giving you the window you need to flee with your vehicle.

But scant seconds later, you can hear the roar of a motorcycle engine, and flashing red and blue lights fill up your rearview mirror again. You chance a look, and you see it.

There was Grizzly, her sunglasses now down over her eyes, a grim look on her face. Whatever line of code she ran seems to have transformed her into a completely different mode of operation in the blink of an eye.

Truly, T-Dolls were terrifying things.

On a lighter note, you could totally imagine Lucina facepalming at this entire situation, so, small victories. You'll take them where you can get them.

Better than thinking about what happens if Grizzly catches you...

>And that's it for tonight! As always, next thread will be on Friday!

Be fully prepared for everyone to find out and have Carol, Artya, and Nemo hidden away in some shrubbery as they observe.

The only other worse possibility is a beach date, and Carol sneaking in by taking on the appearance of MGHQ-era Alice wearing that revealing swimsuit that Carol was told not to copy. Lewis will need some mind bleach to erase how attractive his mom was from his mind.

Is it me, or am I having the suspicion that all of these test dolls have a few kinks to work out before being fully implemented?

I'm betting that the heavy doll is Super Shorty.

>>3231524
It better have Belkan rations that not only last forever, but also are nutritious AND taste good due to the Belkan super secret recipe and spice mix. And maybe throw in some advanced flight suits that may hug around a few places.

I just hope Carol's alright with Lewis' progression, and not secretly depressed or jealous of him.

>>3231524
I also wouldn't mind Infinite Stars with a Space Opera aesthetic with sword fights in space, outrageous 18th-19th century uniforms, and interrupting entire battles/duels to have teatime with the enemy!

But in all seriousness, I wouldn't mind a proper VMQ sequel.
>>

Isn't every Merc Quest a sequel to each other anyway? Like an alternate universe spinoff or something
I mean, that explains the constantly recycled characters apart from Merc's lazyass.
Doesn't explain anything about Brilliant not appearing in any other quests yet, though.
>>
>>3234381
On the topic of Valkyria, in VC 4, are we gonna ignore the fact that a certain state of the art super top secret warship is sunk right outside of the Imperial fucking Capital? Because I feel like we're going to see some reverse engineered Feddie Tech from the Imps.

Hell, during the time after Sturmfuhrer Academy could've had a special section of the castle sequestered away from the general student body to house special girls with special backgrounds (read:Valkyrian descendants) from all over the world where they learn to live relatively normal, productive lives after all they've been through. However, if they voluntarily choose so, they'll learn to make use of their special abilities for more 'martial' uses.

Or a Jaeger tournament, with ES!Jaeger and VM!Jaeger with their respective waifus meeting each other and going, "Wait, you married her?".
I just want a Carnival Phantasm Merc Quest, is that so wrong?
