Sure enough a gaggle of teenagers enter the park from a distant entrance. Although ragtag, the flock lazily follow three seperate individuals - two boys and another girl.

As the herd disperse and fill up each corner and ramp of the skate park, the three 'heads' find their way to your group.

"You split it already?" Questions one of the boys.

Rina pulls out three identical envelopes and hands them to the boy.

It really depends on what cards we get going forward. Seems like getting the generally same type of cards you want is really difficult in setting without a lot of cash and luck but hopefully going to the best dueling school around they have a way of assisting their students in building/improving their deck.

Phantasam Spirals, their field spell searches all their trap and equip cards while also turning them into handtraps. It's probably one of the best normal monster decks out there and it fits the era.

Make a channel going by "Table 500", and just run along livestreaming ourselves dueling with subpar, joke, meme, or downright horrible decks. For the time being we'll look like a laughing stock, but people do actually pay or tip highly for these sort of entertainment. In my head there's no central body governing Duel tournaments although larger companies like K-Corp can back them.
As far as levels and the types of duels go... The Academy hosts a couple of tournaments on the island (students and teachers only), and K-Corp sponsor a ton elsewhere.
In regards to who can enter, it can differ on a tournament-by-tournament basis although participating shouldn't be a problem for us as an Academy Student.

Depends on how you see them.

Phantasm Spirals originated from Spiral Serpent and Thunder Dragons originated from the OG Thunder Dragon, Heroes are Heroes. Technically two of them came from the GX era and one from the DM era, it's only recently that they've evolved into fully functioning archetypes that can stand on their own feet.
Predapants and Shaddoll, while being Arc-V archetypes, fulfill the fusion themed quota for GX, especially when you start getting into higher tier duels. When placed together, all of them sort of stand on the same power level.

You draw 'Back to Square One' and sacrifice 'Black Ptera' for 'Swift Birdman Joe'. Again, Burke is silent as he returns his two magic cards to his hand. Your sacrifice returns to your own hand.

"Mmm," you hum. Deciding you don't want to learn more about streets you divert the conversation back to your earlier question.
"Well what about tourneys? Any of them in the next month?"

You signal to Burke that you wish to attack his monster, he has no qualms. At least, he can't counter that is. The monster is sent to the graveyard.

He also sets a monster in defence position before ending his turn.

"You ever join them?" you ask.

"Nah, none of us do." Keytal exclaims. "They cost a bunch to get in and it's not like you can bet. It's a total waste of wad."

You draw a card. Burke chains and activates 'Solemn Wishes'. Totally didn't see that one coming.

Well. You're not wrong.

I should probably include the current phase order and turn somewhere on the image. Currently you're in 'Battle Phase' - the only time you can attack, the downside being you can't place cards down. Afterwards is 'Main Phase 2' (the first being just before the battle phase) in which you can place more cards but can't attack. The final phase is 'Signal the End Phase' or 'End Phase' for short.

tl;dr: We wouldn't be able to attack.

Also we've already summoned a monster this turn, you wouldn't be able to summon another.
