/qst/ - Quests

This is the tale of Paul, a newly raised undead in the service of a witch who wants us to help overthrow a city and help her rule over it... and maybe not get killed in the process. You can read the last thread here >>3138289.

When we last left off we had just arrived home after battling a sexy werewolf chick and being enlisted by the pack leader to aid him in an investigation of who desecrated one of his ancestors tomb.

You arrive home to look around and see Lisa drawing a complex magic circle on a large piece of parchment. As she looks up, you greet her by raising the severed arm held in your other arm and wave it around, the hand flails limply in a way that could maybe be construed as waving hello.

Lisa lets out a huff, "Every-time with you I swear. Well at least you're still moving." Lisa gets up and grabs a small wooden box off of one of the shelves. "Well, clothes off. We can talk about what happened while I work."

You disrobe as Lisa retrieves from the box what looks like an old sewing kit. The needles are made of bone, you can't tell what the thread is spun from, but it you would guess that it isn't cloth.

As Lisa set's to work sewing your arm back on you tell her most of what happened. You decide to leave the part about how hot you thought the werewolf girl Adara was or how awkward things got when you asked the pack leader Marcus about his relationship with Lisa. You also manage to work as many zombie puns as you can in to the story.

"Well the good news is we aren't completely BONED, in fact I think we have a pretty good shot at winning these guys over." You say.

Lisa agrees. "I have some ideas about how we can get a trace of this grave robber, I'll need to accompany you tomorrow to the tomb."

You nod. Lisa is still hard at work fixing your arm, you've got some time to make small talk, or not so small talk.

You decide to just chat for the time being. You ask Lisa about what she's been doing in her free time. She talks about pop culture for a while. Apparently she really loves those shitty rom-com movies, you can't contribute much to the conversation as you've been dead for a while, and you can't remember seeing to many of those movies when you were alive, but it is nice to hear Lisa talk about something she feels passionate about. You were listening to her describe the subtle genius of "What's your Number?" When you both hear a knock at the door.

Lisa tells you to go into the back room for now, she'll call if she needs you. You head back their and close the door. Another knock and you hear the front door open.

Maybe we xan help her with whatever it is.

Also, its a knock on the door, not some private meeting.

You find a tiny hole in the wall that lets you get a perfectly clear picture of what's going on. Combined with your advanced hearing it's as though you were there in the room with them.

Lisa opens the door to some dude in a trench coat. Lisa seems mildly surprised, "David, you hadn't let me know you were coming, come in. I'll make you some tea."

David walks inside, he seems tired, and troubled. "That's alright, I can't stay very long. It's important to tell you this in person. Have a seat."

Lisa and David sit down at a small table, opposite each other. Dave pulls out a small deck of cards and begins shuffling them expertly in his hands.

"I've been doing some readings, astrology, numerology, casting the bones. I've gotten mixed results from all." Dave stops shuffling the deck. "Except for the cards."

Lisa looks up at him. "Bad news?"

"16 readings, the three fates. Same outcome every-time, without fail." David sets the deck down on the table in front of Lisa. "Go ahead."

"There is a traitor among us." Lisa looks up at David. "So that's it then? We've been betrayed and we will fail? Is that what you've come to tell me?"

"Not yet, fate is never certain. Divining the future would be pointless if nothing could be done to change it." David says, "But as for now, whoever has betrayed us will bring disaster," Dave points to the tower, "and if we do not avert this disaster..." Dave trails off, pointing to the very dead looking man on the table.

"Thank you for bringing this to me David, take care, tell no one and trust no one, I will deal with this."

David is gone as suddenly as he arrived and Lisa tells you it's fine to come out.

"Is there anything I should know?" You ask, trying to sound as genuine as possible.

Lisa frowns, considering. "Not right now, I'll just say you need to be even more cautious than before, certainly more cautious than you've been." She points to your newly re-attached arm.

You are a little annoyed she didn't open up to you about the traitor but decide to leave it alone for now.

Next evening you and Lisa head out to an old graveyard outside of the city. Lisa has you carry a small bag full of magical supplies. Marcus is there waiting for you. Lisa walks up to Marcus and they both look at each other for a moment.

"Marcus"

"Lysandra"

"Well, no point wasting time. Let's get to it." And with that you are off into the graveyard. Marcus leads you and Lisa into a small mausoleum. Inside there is a single sarcophagus with a wolfs head emblazoned on it. "This will just be one moment." Marcus says as he transforms partially into a werewolf.

Using his enhanced strength he pushes the sarcophagus off to the side, revealing a small hidden stairway leading down into darkness.

Lisa immediately begins descending the stairs, Marcus gestures for you to follow.

The bottom of the staircase opens into a large, ornate crypt. Intricately carved walls display flowing, beautiful artwork. Sarcophagus's line the room, the wall carvings telling the story of the person intombed beneath. Trinkets and weapons buried with them. This room would not look to far out of place in an Indiana Jones movie.

Lisa takes the bag of magical supplies and sets to work. Marcus just kind of stands there. You decide to take walk around and explore the tomb. Walking down one of the many hallways at random you realize this place is much bigger than you thought. You keep walking in a single direction for minutes and see many different paths. You hope you don't get lost.

In the darkness your vision begins to adjust and you can see more clearly, down the end of the hallway you look and see someone turn round a corner and walk off.
