Objectives

The path to restoring your memories might not be so clear-cut anymore; the Blood and Zipangu rituals aren't your only options anymore, revelations from the Throne and reunion with a knight of your past could allow you to investigate with fewer dangers to your psyche.

The Suppression is to happen tomorrow. The Royals have opted to bring a combination of lamias and Shining Knights. You'll be able to influence this decision if you decide to attend the evening meeting.

Tuilelaith Helewidis granted you vital perspective on Lady White, resulting in creating an impromptu investigation group consisting of Belphegor, Martha, You, Klesiah and the vixen herself.

You won't have time to juggle looking into Ama potential threats and keeping up with the Mamonos leaders.

Finally, here are the people planning of not participating in the Suppression: Sieglinde, Elina, Martha, Klesiah, Vilma, Teruko and Hao. It's possible this group could increase or shrink with coming events.

Side activities
Your two unused privileges from gambling with Elina and Sieglinde remain available.

Daiyu granted you a ''favor'' to use at your leisure; the Demon Lord is a resourceful person.

Further activities decided in the thread will be noted here.

Don't let piling worries prevent you from accomplishing your duties. Tic Toc.
>>
Happenings to remember.

Someone put a geas on you, resulting in forcing you to make a Rune of Passage inside Daiyu fortress. This geas is thankfully gone, you haven't done anything suspicious after your strange episode of sleepwalking and Gardy's protection also make further attempts of hypnotism nigh impossible; your fusion would have him break any lingering spells as well.

There have been a few additionals Runes found by Daiyu investigative efforts. A total of 6 were discovered spread throughout the schools, the one you created near the shrine was the only one found so close to the Jawahir family sleeping areas.

Elenor has been recruited into the Red Guard, thereby gaining Zazawu protection. She has been disowned by her adoptive family, the Jucunda, as a result of wanting a fair end for her duel.

Elenor revealed an interesting development. She was tasked by her adoptive mother to make Vilma life miserable shortly after the lich arrival at the academy. It is suspicious timing because it coincides with Teruko troubles when the administration left her languishing for an entire month; the stretch of time Vilma suffered the worst. From there, things proceeded into the story you know with their feud, culminating with a second suspicious order. Eveline tasked Elenor to bring Vilma out of the academy walls and into the Javed -the vampire noble family- area for ''her own good.''

Daiyu and Sieglinde have been too busy handling the Suppression to react against Elenor adoptive family yet. They have been lying low since.

The Javed have been recalling almost all of their folks throughout the city into their household after Sieglinde visit more than a week ago. Nobody understands why.

The arrival of Central and Zipangu royalties resulted in Daiyu closing the fortress to visits from Throne Town. Students can still come and go once they submit to a rigorous security check or show a pass written personally by a member of Daiyu family. The few comings and goings are documented.

You have recently discovered that Lady White has targeted Vilma to become one of her apostles!red]

Movements weren't subject by reality concept of distances within conscious explorations of souls. By stepping ahead and entering a newly created door conjured by your will, you retreated into the known ground of your mindscape, curtly refusing Lady White invitation. With her body overshadowed by an intense light of evening carmine assailing your sense, her grand announcement for your undead friend was min rattling indeed but you weren't stupid enough to outright step into that villain inner domain.

However, had she decided otherwise, nobody would have left the tea house, doubly so with that chain linking your neck to her hand. She allowed you to go without resistance, it was almost enough to doubt her announcement, although the lich weird attitude this morning made it difficult to believe Ama lied.

Even if she's the one who kindled these suspicions in the first place.

A graceless growl emerged out of Martha as she threw one last backward glare toward your previous destination. Closing the door quieted that ominous melody to nothingness and everyone was safely back into your mindscape, the heavy chain dangling down your neck losing half of its length upon the disappearance of your conjured door. The unearthly red metal covering your mouth and that fat ring of steel around your neck felt cold to your touch, but their presence was solid indeed, that long chain -undeniably a leash- made clanging noises with each of your movements.

Certainly revealed volumes about Lady White mindset.

''Couldn't even say anything.'' The blue demoness was the first to break the silence. ''Bitch whispered in my head that she'd kill you if we tried to say anything that'd influence your decision. As if we're some kind of background actors in her little play or something, fuck.''

''Mh, said the same to you?'' Tuilelaith asked Gardy and he soundlessly nodded, prompting an eerie grin to spread on her sharp features. ''All three of us are little extras in her game, throwing rods into the wheels carrying her plots. Guess taking you hostage is a good enough method to keep us quiet.''

''Thanks for not acting rashly.'' You replied, doing your best to smile. Figuring out the vixen silent enigma had dispelled the haze of desperation in your mind, thinking about things calmly led to a single answer.

''We've got to go and find Vilma.'' You announced, Martha and Gardy nodded grimly yet...

''Might be wasting a good opportunity with going so quickly.'' Tuilelaith protested, tails shaking in one fluffy synch, she didn't wait to hear any retort. ''Holding onto this manifestation of Ama's curse won't be enough to accurately pinpoint areas of White's influence unless you get physically closer, waiting a little bit will allow me to use Mother Earth web to craft a little map of the city, that oughta be plenty to actually find blood nests.''

''What is this web?'' Gardy curt question made Tuilelaith and Martha eyebrows rise and an answer came swiftly.

''To keep it simple, think of it as Mother Earth own natural influences, created by places of worship. Throne Town has a beautiful cathedral and a few smaller chappels which naturally spread the goddess gospel. This build an invisible, magical net after a few weekly rituals. Anointed bishops maintain it during Mass and this can allow divine manifestations at rare times, though Mother Earth uses this little miracle to find and crack down on Blood Magic. As her agent...'' Tuilelaith gently tapped her (flat) torso. ''I've been allowed to use it, I'm fairly sure I'll be able to manifest the entire city in this realm of soul and since were tied together...''

''I'd be able to use Lady White curse to easily pinpoint rituals spots.'' The fox woman nodded at your conclusion.

''Should take me ten minutes to make, I've never been a guest in somebody else soul before so... I'll have to adjust, wait for your permission and all that usual stuff.'' Tuilelaith tapped on her (flat) chest.

''Time has a faster flow beyond the mindscape, we know Vilma is in danger.'' Gardy voice gained a brief, precious hint of humanity, almost sounding like a man speaking through a thick helmet. Tuilelaith twitching ears translated your and Martha perplexity.

''Yeah... I'm a bit uneasy. We don't really know how long it's been outside.'' Said the blue inventor, single spaded tail twirling awkwardly. ''Thing is, the animals I used to test ended up exhausted after severing the artificial link, I reckon we won't be able to make another one if we finish things here.'' Sensations were fully replicated in this trance, yet imagining your body holding hands with Tuilelaith and Martha was almost enough to induce a sense of lethargy that you needed to quickly submerge with force of will. Body and soul naturally sought a degree of synchrony that was violated here, by delving into an inner world of souls.

Since Martha barely slept today, she'll likely be far too exhausted to attempt another ritual.

>There's no time to waste. Ama reveal might have been yet another taunt but it also makes far too many senses in explaining Vilma attitude this morning. You have to go and remedy this situation, Klesiah could also be in danger!

>You should make full use of this opportunity. Ama curse has been a constant thorn, why not use it now? While delaying might be twisting your guts in stressful worry about Klesiah and Vilma, Tuilelaith spell is far too useful to ignore.

Quick answer. I'll wait another 20 minutes for more anons to come in before starting with this choice.

No. All of you are joined together into a perfect pyramid, having one break will shatter the balance you've got.

You aren't trained enough in matters of souls to let her go alone.

Damn. Welp, looks like we're gonna be suicidally trusting in our friends and the spies.

I do wonder though, the lich was with Deruella yesterday right? She's been on the other side of this suspected ploy. I hope her gears are turning nicely.

While you haven't confirmed it yourself, several eyewitnesses saw them together.

With a bit of luck, Vilma will be located in one of these blood ritual spots and we wil lbe able to find her from this activity. Something like becoming an apostle of Lady White doesn't sound the kind of casual thing that can be done just anywhere. If we notice any of these ritual spots that is having a lot of activity, let's prioritize it as the most likely candidate where Vilma has been led to.

''Alright, let's make full use of our advantage.'' That long chain dangling from your neck made it difficult to avoid being sarcastic, your consent thankfully brought an excited smile on the short kitsune face and she proceeded to slap her hands together, eyes closed in concentration.

Your invisible connection with Tuilelaith immediately stirred, a flow of activity -pure will- changed throughout your solid connection and, this time, you needed to raise invisible gates of consents to allow the vixen will to appear inside the lonely darkness of your mindscape.

Had your link been the genuine thing, it's likely you wouldn't have needed to give conscious consent. ''This'll need a few minutes...'' Murmured the small nine tailed fox. ''...It'd be smoother if we were inside a chapel but now ain't the time to complain.''

Silence, awkward silence, fell as Tuilelaith joined her hands together and seemed to fall asleep while remaining standing. You attention shifted toward your other two companions; Gardy was gazing upward into the numberless light of stars of your constructed psychic shell, Martha looked uneasy. Having removed her battle shapeshifting, displeasures created evident creases on her face and you briefly wondered about her intention with Lady White... Although another idea came to mind as you absentmindedly looked at her pale blue lips.

''You know Martha, if I could, I'd kiss you.'' Hopefully, that muzzle will mask your cheeky grin.

''Wuh!?'' The blue succubus reacted strongly, nearly losing her balance while taking a step back. ''Wha!? Huh!? A-Arawn? I-I huh?'' Mother's Mercy, this woman might be extremely weak to teasing.

''That mouthguard you created.'' You answered, tapping on the metal covering your jaw. ''It's what made me remember the witch curse on my speech.''

''Ah...'' Martha absentmindedly ran a finger along her bottom lips then her expression shifted into amusement. ''Guess I was useful for something, don't go speaking about that around my family now, it'll make thing awkward.''

That wasn't a rejection. Gardy singular gem observing the two of you, his emotion filtering as a mixture of exasperation and amusement.
Then... awkward silence reigned until Tuilelaith constant chuckle made you begin to doubt your sanity, Martha constantly stole a few glances your way while pretending to look at the stars when you caught her stares.

Jeez. You're bad at jokes.

''Aight youngun's stuff s'about to happen!'' Tuilelaith finally put an end to this eternity of silence, with arms spread sideward and tails curling upward, her gaze was strangely directed on the floor.

Whereupon a shift in perspective happened in the blink of an eye. Your floor of milky white blurred, giving way to a new manifestation, a grand perspective of Throne Town itself. It was a grand, bird-eye view of the entire city, something that perhaps Elina alone would have been able to see. From here you saw the big cathedral not too far from a particularly large colosseum, Daiyu island and inner fortress stood as a sharp contrast of isolation in these packed streets of carefully detailed buildings, the long yet thin altar housing the demonic Throne protruded like a spear. Northward was the bazaar, then many houses and what looked like a park...

Is this one of Mother Earth miracles?

''Now that's... that's something.'' Martha expression melded with yours, becoming a singular feeling of reverence because of your link. ''Is it normal we aren't seeing anyone?''

''Better to avoid representing all the living souls, the sheer number in there is humbling; we'd end up breaking our link because of the sheer pressure of their lights.'' Tuilelaith answered, fearlessly walking toward you. for a moment you were afraid you might end up falling by moving.

''Ready?'' The old vixen asked, grabbing your chain. ''This ain't gonna hurt.''

''Let's get things done.'' Influencing this map with Lady White existence was a simple matter of directing your flow into Tuilelaith, a familiar experience indeed.

Results weren't pending. ''I see something!'' Martha exclaimed.

''Many things.'' Gardy responded dryly. ''Worrisome.''

Areas of the witch influence, covens of malice and curses, were represented as simple glowing red dots throughout the perfect map of Mother Earth web. Three in the Bazaar, five spread throughout Daiyu island (with one of them inside a small house near a forge. Mimiru distinctive landmark) and a single one for the rest of the city.

Thankfully nothing inside the Jawahir immense school.

''That's the vamps place.'' Martha remarked grimly, pointing into a gated community made up of three particularly large manors, reminding you strangely of her family school. Inside one of them glowered an ominous red dot.

''Would it be possible to conceal blood nest?''

''Yeah.'' Tuilelaith nodded at your question. ''Deep underground and by using a circle of powers -runes essentially- to channel the excess into stones. Still, Ama seems to have a connection with those ritual spots so were able to see it for ourselves...''

''Think Mimiru house got one? I've never been there but those dots are spread throughout the residential district.'' Martha pointed at all those ominous red circles.

Part of you wanted to protest that Mimiru was only a child -one having a hard time because of her unfortunate birth- but now wasn't' the time to discard ideas out of sentimentality.

''I'd say we got what we needed.'' You decided to end things there. An area of Lady White influence inside one of the Javed household?

''Yeeeah, we got more stuff to do.'' Tuilelaith clapped her hands together and the map disappeared, obscured by a quickly thickening fog. ''Least now we got a much better idea about Ama's cancer.''

Hopefully... you aren't too late.

>Posting now to let you guys digest this new development. I'll proceed to write the next part to give proper interaction.

Exiting your mindscape required all four presences to remember the genuine existence of this plane, that all of it was, ultimately, a creation of the mind. There was a sense of lethargy similar to your shift into the Red World and like puppets without strings, Martha and Tuilelaith bodies crumbled on the ground; Gardy thumb up was your last vision of your not so lonely inner world.

''Urgh!?'' Delving into your mindscape had definitely dulled sensations. Consciousness returning to your body provoked a maelstrom of uncomfortable phenomenon that melded into a single, painful whole. Hunger, fatigue, nausea, cramps, dizziness... Tuilelaith and Martha growled in feeble protest against this deluge, worse of all a poignant feeling of loss. A strange sadness gripped your heart, not intense as if you had been delivered a terrible new but as if your heart had been grieving the death of a beloved pet for years. A new, strange psychological wound that somehow reached deep into your core...?

''This is really unpleasant.'' Thankfully this pain abated, the problem was that it was replaced by plain tiredness. As your body naturally recovered, lethargy settled into your bones in a way that couldn't be described as exhaustion form something particularly physically straining, it was as if your biological clock had gone forward and tiredness from being awake for far, far too long was assailing you.

''Miiight be needing one of them stimulants.'' Tuilelaith remarked, getting up on shaky legs, supporting herself with arms firmly planted on the table.

''Martha...?'' Her silence was worrisome and there sat Daiyu second daughter, cheek on the table, mouth open and drolling while taking constant heavy breaths. Piling exhaustion is a dangerous thing.

Then you finally noticed that someone else had been waiting in the lab. A dark uniform a tasteful white apron revealed a maid uniform, familiar rigid traits and light gloss from impeccably cleaned glass revealed Priscilla silent dutifulness who calmly reached for the taller demoness and changed her stance to be a little more comfortable. ''I shall be taking care of milady.'' She announced instead of greeting, Tuilelaith stumbled for Martha alchemical cooler, leaving you to deal with the maid.

''Is... what hour is it, Priscilla?'' You couldn't resist yawning, doing so in her face was damnably rude.

''I came here roughly an hour ago.'' The woman responded, draping Martha arm over her shoulders and tirelessly lifting the demoness, her voice somehow kept a constant volume despite the strain and distance. ''It should be three in the afternoon, master elf.''

That's... a damn lot of time, you didn't stay longer than 40 minutes in your mindscape!

''General Zazawu came with his troops as scheduled and a pair of leaders from Kreszenz have also arrived.'' Priscilla informed casually while putting Martha to bed. ''His lordship Waltier Swanhil Wilhelmina and the Fire Witch Olga Yevdokiya of the swamp rangers are present.''

''Heard about that one.'' Tuilelaith remarked, giving you a bottle of stimulant then gently clank it with hers. ''She'd earn the title of Hero if she wasn't with the rangers.''

''Whatever milord and milady wish to do today, Martha shall not be accompanying you.'' For someone standing below you on the social ladder, Priscilla was not going to compromise on this point. Her hands gently gripped her apron and she threw you and Tuilelaith an emotionless, rigid stare of steel. ''Her highness Daiyu and Sieglinde Jawahir and the overlord Gwendolyn insist upon meeting their retainers posthaste, thusly have I waited to accomplish my duty; please see to them, they... looked angry. And worried.''

''Done good.'' Tuilelaith replied, then snuck a tail behind your back as you finished your first gulp of this intensely sweet drink. You could feel your heart quickening already, it'll work pretty well in keeping you awake. ''We shouldn't make them wait.''

Stepping outside this cubic lab and into the familiar sight of the alchemical and magitek hangar of controlled chaos shook off all remnants of lethargy out of your mind. ''Klesiah, Vilma...'' You grunted, finishing your bottle in one swoop.

''Yeah, this is stressing me out.'' Tuilelaith carelessly threw her bottle -which shattered on the floor- and turned to you with a serious glint inside her gaze. ''Didn't expect Martha to pass out so completely. Way I see it, we could leave for the city right away.''

''How?'' Three royals wanted a word with the two of you and you've learned something very -very- serious about Lady White potential allies... But time isn't on your side. ''Daiyu won't let us sneak out if she has something to say. Priscilla was probably supposed to be our escort.'' Yet she opted to look over Martha, perhaps suspecting something was going on.

Witnessing two supremes -one being Tuilelaith- and an elf joined together in some odd ritual must have been a shock.

''Being Mother Earth primary agent means that she trusts me to make use of her web, how do you think portals work?'' She flashed a toothy grin. ''I've taken a look around the island as I arrived, I'd be able to make something near the bazaar, all we'd have to do next is find that forge then you'll be able to find the house with Ama's stench.''

''Could we split up? If you were to go alone to help out Klesiah...'' Tuilelaith was an ancient nine-tailed kitsune. There's no need to pretend you're anywhere close in strength.

''I ain't familiar enough with this place to find out.'' She shook her head, ears twitching. ''You'd have to go alone, you're the one with the connection.''

''Right, otherwise we can meet with our folks.'' Seeing one of the two golems prompted you to wave at him and Bobby (or Bob) waved back without emotions, yet still prudent enough to avoid knocking anything over.

''Gwen will immediately change her tune the moment I mention White shenanigans.''

''So will Daiyu and Sieg, though we'd waste time.''

'Dunno how strong your woman is, maybe Belph spies are enough of an escort, I'd rather we go and make sure nobody dies ya know? We ain't got time to argue though, whatcha wanna do Arawn?''

>Go with Tuilelaith and hunt down that forge near Mimiru house. There was a blood nest nearby.

>Go yourself and have the vixen meet with your friends, she'll give them all the info they need.

>Trust that Klesiah and Vilma are fine and go find your friends on the first floor.

>Free

We'll continue tomorrow.
I was tempted to impose a -1 to all rolls because of heavy fatigue, but Arawn has enough adrenaline to keep him fully awake and sharp-minded for a good while. Aren't I merciful?
>>
>Tui and Arawn rush to Elina and Sieglinde, take them along and, while Tui stays to explain the situation to the demon lord and everyyone else, Elina, Sieglinda and Arawn run to the rescue of the lich. Explanations to them wil lbe given on the way to Miru's residence. If anyone else tries to stop us or hold us, we keep going while promising an apoogy and an explanation later on.

if that's just undoable, I'll settle with this:

>Go yourself and have the vixen meet with your friends, she'll give them all the info they need.

Time to put our trained abilities to the test.
I'd ideally ask for Elina and Sieglinde to rush to our side so that we can be a team of 3 together. Elina has been a good friend of Vilma for a good long while, and I am sure she won't let whatever bothers her get in the way of rescuing her good friend. As for Sieglinde, she's a good girl, too, I am sure she wants to help, too.

Even without them, if we march on our own, have Tui request to them that they follow us in our rescue ASAP. That way, should we get attacked later on, reinforcements can arrive right on time to save our elf butt.
>>
>>3147863
>if that's just undoable

I can't quite say what is doable or not, this is the time for you to act so you'll have to find out if something can or cannot happen.
>>
>>3147828
>That spoiler
Situations like this will cause that. The instant Arawn is sure everyone's safe his body will probably just shut down like Martha's did. Price ya pay for full function when that really shouldn't be on the table.

It's damnably rude and we'll catch shit for it later but would it be possible to leverage the trust our friends have in us to just get them to come along without an explanation (or at least, a real short one like "Vilma and Klesiah are in danger, no time to explain, through the portal now everyone!" or "We know where the blood rituals are happening, let's go stop them now!").

It also occurred to me that we ourselves don't leave this fortress much. How familiar are we with the surrounding town?

Finally, Martha's combat form, the mouthguard and exoskeleton... I think I saw that outfit somewhere before... Does Martha have nanomachines son? Is she a magical cyborg ninja in combat?

You can try, you'll have to believe they'll trust you. Important people are here now, yet here you are monopolizing the ancient fox woman...

>It also occurred to me that we ourselves don't leave this fortress much. How familiar are we with the surrounding town?

Pretty much nothing, however your link to Lady White will guide you where you need to go.

>Finally, Martha's combat form, the mouthguard and exoskeleton... I think I saw that outfit somewhere before...

This is actually more important than being particularly stylish. Jaw are one of the things subjected to intense modification during shape shifting so keeping something over it make sure they avoid becoming outright horrific.

This is the approach I was shooting for with my last vote/comment above, so joining up with this idea, since this anon put it better into words that I was able to.

''I can convince Sieglinde to help us out quickly.'' The fog of fatigue seems to clear out of your mind as you quickly and carefully weighed your options. Tuilelaith showed her displeasure with a grimace, dark red eyes carefully analyzing you.

''Right. No time to waste then, let's go.'' No warning, no embrace of Focus, Tuilelaith somehow willed a portal into existence without strain or concentration in a sudden and relaxed display of what you could only describe as ''divine magic.'' You hadn't paid attention to her remark about Mother Earth web but now that you saw this small two meters long golden portal barely wide enough to accommodate the kitsune tails, her claim about being the goddess agent wasn't hot hair.

She stepped through first and you quickly followed, bracing against the usual feeling of intense disorientation that came with such a sharp change in scenery.

Tuilelaith likely saved you a solid 15 minutes of fumbling around the altar as her portal moved you right outside Sieglinde home, into a familiar well-paved road that had grown busier than you ever saw. A small sea of tents lined its edges, going deeper toward the familiar garden as a hundred or more Mamonos loitered around, now becoming much more active with the sudden interruption of a small portal belching out a nine-tailed fox and an elf. Each of these ladies sported wildly different equipment, from full-plated humanoid dullahan to leather-wearing snakes and half-plated spider-ladies, all of them sported an evident accessory of red clothes to identify their allegiance to general Zazawu Red Guard. These ranged from headbands to feathers decorating helmets and armors.

It'd be more accurate to describe them as adventurers instead of soldiers.

''Huh, the big guy really is here.'' Muttered the fox, a few battle summoners made threw casual greetings to diffuse the tension and soon enough the atmosphere turned into a smooth brouhaha of casualness that was so proper for these spirited lady monsters.

''Probably better to wait here...'' You spoke to your companion after throwing one last polite wave. ''...or maybe?''

The large oaken double doors leading into the altar were wide open with a single maid standing nearby; there had been two when you arrive yet in the minute you looked away toward the summoners one of them disappeared. Tuilelaith didn't have any time to say anything, a certain redhead was seen walking -loudly- down the luxurious hall of resonating ceramic, flanked by a gorgeous angelic woman and a short yet intense-looking gazer, all three walking with the synchronicity of thoroughly angered lovers.

Perhaps everything that happened today was slowly making you numb, you weren't feeling any hints of dread.

They have undeniably been waiting. Thankfully, Daiyu position as Demon Lord perhaps demanded her to remain present with foreign royalty to save face, although that didn't seem to extend toward Gwendolyn...

You and Tuilelaith almost immediately became the center of attention once the trio stopped midway out of the altar, princess Sieglinde huffed and put her killing hands on her hips while Elina and Gwendolyn simultaneously crossed their hands under their breasts, the Gazer many tendrils throwing murderous (thankfully harmless) glares at her fluffy retainer.

''What have you been doing?'' Sieglinde tone was carefully measured, amused giggles spread throughout the nearby soldiers. ''Priscilla has been up there for close to three hours.'' She squinted against the particularly intense light of the afternoon sun. ''Not only is Zazawu here but we have Kreszens prince marshall and one of the strongest human mage currently enjoying showing their strengths in duels, two...'' She held up two fingers. ''Retainers of mine disappearing, Vilma shouldn't have been allowed outside yet she somehow had a pass to go through the fortress gates, have you been with her?''

Sieglinde was already trying to find a way to distill her anger, she'd undeniably cool down if you were to pretend you were helping out the lich... which isn't exactly untrue. Her softness wasn't shared by her two companions.

''Sieglinde, Elina, Gwendolyn, I don't have time to explain.'' You tried your best to measure your tone but it was impossible to avoid being overheard. ''Klesiah and Vilma are in dangers, please come with us now.''

''Business with the White One.'' Tuilelaith added and promptly conjured another portal. The sheer ease with which she did that was becoming genuinely unsettling.

None of them were expecting such a thorough reversal; their astonishment was broken when you turned your back and your perspective changed once again by going through another portal, this time changing the scenery of tents and trees into a forest of stone next to the wide river separating Daiyu inner fortress from the other island. the main artery led directly into a familiar collection of open-air stalls bursting with activity, definitely worsened by your sudden arrival.

Something else was here, invisible, deep inside your psyche. A sentiment of certainty had been imprinted inside your mind, holding onto Lady White curse somehow gave you surreal perspective, you knew that somewhere -several- places inside the bazaar were connected to you, to that fox, like an old resurfacing childhood memory.

Then out came Tuilelaith, followed by Sieglinde, Gwendolyn and finally Elina. The lack of crowd was a blessing and when you turned at the group, all three women had regained their composure, albeit with evident anger creasing their brows.

''I believe Mimiru is an a-!'' There came a familiar jolt of pain, an intense shock into all 4 of your molars. Elina and Sieglinde, goddess bless them, immediately understood your intention while Gwendolyn looked incredibly worried and confused.

''We think Mimiru an apostle.'' Tuilelaith finished, both of you nodding to each other. ''We know her house is next to a forge so-''

Clanging steps of heavy boots interrupted the vixen as a guard -a purely human woman amazingly enough- came running to your group and dropped to one knee.

''Your grace!'' The armored lady puffed, taking an important gulp of air. ''There's been a fight in the residential district, we don't really know the details but it seems to be conflicts amongst Supremes, Lady Deruella has been seen fighting!''

Mother's Mercy!

''Any serious damage?'' Sieglinde took charge as you nearly choked yourself at this new, giving you many sidelong glances. Deruella?

''Two houses ruined and one dead succubus. L-last I heard your grace the battle was still ongoing so the militia has been cordoning the surrounding area.''

A strong noise of flapping and a gust of wind interrupted the guardswoman.

''Elina!'' You bellowed, interrupting her mid-flight, she had already progressed three meters upward. ''Can you carry someone!? Remember, it's Mimiru house, you went there before right!?''

''All I need is to find the damage.'' Her voice was cold. ''I can carry anyone that isn't the fox, I tried flying with Zipangu queen before and it... didn't work out. Something about wide, potent souls interfering with my wind magic.''

>''Then take someone!'' [Precise who. Can be yourself.]

>''Godspeed then, please do what you can.'' (It'd be better for her to be alone... she'll likely be faster. You'll have to proceed on foot.)

Can Gwen levitate or otherwise handle a direct air insertion? How fast can we run with Max level reinforcement activated? How far are we from the fight? How badass is Deru in a fight?
>>
>>3149314
>Can Gwen levitate or otherwise handle a direct air insertion?

No.

>How fast can we run with Max level reinforcement activated?

Pretty quick, though your progress will inevitably slow down to make sure you get the right place.

>How far are we from the fight?

About 45 minutes if you were going at a normal pace, the residential district is fairly deep into the island.

>How badass is Deru in a fight?

The only thing you can believe in is that she's one of Daiyu daughters. Deru reputation comes from being a web weaver, not a fighter.
>>
>>3149325
If Sieg shifted into war mode could she handle an air drop? She did drop 3 stories early on with no I'll effect. At our Max speed how long would it take to get to the residential district? If Gwen is taken could she warn Elina of an ambush in time for her shields to raise? Actually, we tell her to keep em' up in flight if she can. That damned angel is unaccounted for so that's a big problem.
>>
>>3149362
>If Sieg shifted into war mode could she handle an air drop?
Yep.

>At our Max speed how long would it take to get to the residential district?

You'll need to roll. A good one would be 15 minutes, a bad one will need 30 minutes.

>If Gwen is taken could she warn Elina of an ambush in time for her shields to raise?

Cannot answer that.

>Actually, we tell her to keep em' up in flight if she can.

That's impossible. Shields are ''hard'' object and raised in a given place, they don't move.
>>
No need to be afraid.

Now now folks, you aren't in danger
>>
>''Then take me!''

We use the chance to explain to the angel our findings, if we can.

If she could carry Sieglide too, that could be good, but I don't think she can carry two people at once.

Also, Deruella attacking succubi...? Is she attacking the spies we sent to keep Klesiah safe?
>>

>Also, Deruella attacking succubi...? Is she attacking the spies we sent to keep Klesiah safe?

That wasn't the report. One succubus is apparently dead and Deruella was seen fighting.
>>
>>3149435

Right. It could also be Deruella trying to defend the succubi, rather than fighting agains them.

Still, I do believe we should question her, once EVERYONE and their hot demonlord moms finish questioning us, AFTER we finish saving Vilma and bapping Ama on the snout.
>>
>>3149370
Last questions. Can the royal family summon each other in a pinch? How quickly could our companions get to the residential district on foot? Could they roof jump their way there so that they'll see the battle from further out? And matter what we do warn Elina that there could be an enemy angel out there waiting for her.
>>
>>3149443
>Can the royal family summon each other in a pinch?

No.

>How quickly could our companions get to the residential district on foot?

Equal to you.

>Could they roof jump their way there so that they'll see the battle from further out?

Tui can carry Gwen, Sieg can do it on her own. You'd be the one unable to do it.
>>
Let's see, I'll wait for 7 pm before proceeding with the choices I have.
>>
>>3149448
Darn, I was kinda hoping Sieg princess carrying us as she lept across the skyline was an option.

Oh well, be sure to warn Elina of the fallen angel and suggest roof hopping if they didn't think about that and think it's just as fast if not faster than straight running. I think it would be though as it would allow you to travel in a straight line instead of the curving winding paths of the streets.
>>
>>3149484
So I can take this as Arawn being Elina passenger?
>>
>>3149487
I can't think of anything else. He's the slowest, and a coherent squad/formation is only as fast as its slowest member. We need speed and lots of it.

Oh, and tell Tui to brief the group on the way about everything that happened before we met up with them. We brief Elina on the way.

Elina answers your request by lowering herself quickly on the ground, turning her back to you, pale red wings outstretching fully while the guard took off running back into the bazaar after receiving quick instruction from Sieglinde. The angel, while tall, was also smaller than you but her stance didn't budge as you wrapped your arms around her shoulders covered by that gorgeous blue armor, she had somehow materialized it in the seconds it took to walk through that portal.

''You guys will travel as fast as you can right?'' You asked the three other Mamonos. It took an effort of will to avoid strangling your angelic friend when she levitated upward like a thrusting spear, her arms went under your knees to support your legs.

''Go now'' Sieglinde body has seen rapid change. A familiar mouthguard was hiding everything below her nose, her hands and legs had grown thicker, clashing with her lithe body. That deadly tail had metamorphosed to become a proper blade and her eyes of gorgeous red were intense enough to leave after image. this sight, this shift into a proper combatant, was burned into your retinue when Elina burst into activity, a shockwave of wing clacked behind her as her wings flapped leisurely as if your added weight meant nothing.

Look like Tuilelaith will have to handle briefing.

You'd expect wind to be buffeting your face because of the speed of her flight transforming Throne Town numerous houses into a blurry mess of brown and gray. Yet... everything felt pleasant as if she was taking a stroll while lifting your taller heavier body.

''There might be an enemy angel, be prudent.'' It was as if you were surrounded by an invisible bubble, no wind, no pressure... Strange tranquility reigned in this uncomfortable flight. ''I think we might have to deal with that fluffed one agents, she's after Vilma.''

Elina answered with a grim nod, her embrace of Focus and absolute pragmatism transformed her pretty traits into carved marbles streaked by lines of golds. Following her mindset, you embraced Focus.

Body Reinforcement cast: High.

No more than a minute in flight where you tried to condense information that you began to hear echoes of thunders. Zappings after zappings melded into a continuous storm of unending sky shaking strength, a streak of purple light flashed from a particular area of the residential quarter that seemed fairly open due to generously spaced out houses.

Barely had your knight stalwart presence entered your mind that Elina ate distance with feverish needs and studded suddenly, creating a sudden shockwave of wind that resounding like a crackle of thunder, perhaps strong enough to echo into the entire city. Glasses shattered from the resulting wave, trees groaned, debris flew wildly: anger, fear and raw necessity might have just created a small miracle in speed.

''Nothing can rival an angel with purpose.'' Gardy remark was, unfortunately not heartening.

Below was the scene of a small battlefield. Two houses had been reduced to ruins, one having simply and purely exploded from some kind of impact whilst the other looked to have been torn from the inside out, a few others had also been damaged with one, in particular, having a wall blown wide open. There weren't many onlookers below thankfully; Elina grand arrival brought everything to a standstill, the militia was likely still massing or waiting for proper reinforcement to handle Supremes.

Klesiah familiar striking blue hair and armor stood in the middle of the road surrounded by dead monstrosities, a crowd of cut and burnt humanoids corpses were littering throughout the road because of Elina shockwave. Each of them looked pale, sickly thin with fingers better described as claws and mouths full of razor-sharp teeth. Lowered on the ground and sinking claws into thick paved stones was...something, another humanoid monstrosity similar to these corpses albeit with a healthier shade of skin and much better defined. It had four arms, a wide jaw full of teeth out of which protruded a long barbed tongue more aptly described as a whip as it rolled around a thick pillar. It evoked some unholy union of an insect and a human, the distinctive blond hair surrounding an upside down face twisted your guts in horror.

Several puncture wounds adorned Klesiah armor, a constant flow of blood poured it's slow, continuous crawl. The plates had also saved her skin from many scratches and with the way she readied her glaive crackling with power, such wounds were easy to endure. A few more jolts resonated as she tried her best to impede the incessant hoppings of this murderous blood beast.

A fair distance behind her was none other than Deruella. The princess was sitting on some big ball of Corruption, both of her arms had morphed into dark, cancerous looking tendrils that reached all the way into the ground, both filled with barbs, planting and injecting something into the slow that erupted into a small puddle below her. Her mouth had also changed, her lower jaw split into two to allow a protuberance to peek out and.. spit, yes spit globs of dark acid at her opponent.

A foe waring the garbs of a jester, albeit with a dark dusk cloak covering their torso, the mask perfectly concealed their identity. Seeing a pair of long tonfas of steel made it impossible to breathe. Myr

Between Klesiah and Deruella were Vilma and a stranger who, it seemed, helped keep the little lich safe despite a dislocated shoulder and numerous scratches on her body. Your friend was on her knees, glowering a gorgeous purple. Nearby corpses began to raise seconds after Elina interruption and it was badly needed because of a new wave of these skinny, yet agile freaks poured out of nearby houses.

Five of them to be exact, each ones resonating deep into your soul. Something had activated.

''Retreat'' Out of one of the few intact houses -where ten of these pale, thin monstrosities poured out of the entrance and windows to charge toward Deruella- stood a massive silhouette enchanted in shadows. You'd say he was a man due to the general manly aspect of his body, his right arm sported a big bracelet where a thick chain tied this limb to... an open book?

It would seem he had been in the process of finishing a spell before Elina arrival and barely did you acknowledge his presence that a wave of purple power was unleashed by the artifact, spreading into the wide street like a diseased fog; corpses all around began to rise, immediately giving the two foes -apostles- time to escape as your friends had to deal with the immediate threats of rising undead spread throughout their positions because of Elina shockwave.

You have very little time to act. Myr and... and Mimiru there wasn't any doubt about her identity now, broke combat and headed for a house radiating with Lady White influence while the shadowy man stood in supervision.

>Insist to Elina about trying to capture or kill one of the Apostles. [Precise who.]

We'll continue tomorrow. Getting a little bit too late to continue tonight, I'll try to start earlier but no promises here.

Things are heating up!
>>
>Help your friends clear out the place of these mutants instead, their safety is what matters. Klesiah is wounded!

We also stick close to Vilma. We ask her and Klesiah if they are alright, and we apologize for taking so long to arrive.

Our priority is that these villains don't try to somehow snatch Vilma along on their way.

I also want to inspect the person who is assisting Vilma. Mostly, I want to make sure she is an ally, and not an enemy finishing the brainwashing magic under the pretense of being 'healing' her.
>>
>>3149866

I'll add, maybe once we are in the proper position, we use the magitech lightning thingy to cast some lightning against the closest one of the Apostles. If we get lucky and deal damage, good. If we don't, we're still forcing her to back off from Vilma.
>>
>>3149772
So Deruella is a ranged support fighter? Is she more of a machine gun acid spitter or we talking big globs of acidic artillery? Good thing we sent Klessiah or else she'd have been in deep shit.

I assume the spy team's been wiped out and is currently being raised to fight us. Hope they were of some help before they all died horribly. Was she one of the succubi spy team in disguise? She had to get here somehow.

Plenty of debris around yes? Anything nice, big and heavy and/or pointy nearby for our new Gravity Gun soul arm to launch at the people we hate? I doubt capture will help so I gotta see if the kill option is available. We can have the arm holding a nice big chunk of something and still activate the gauntlet if needed right?

Finally, I knew it, I fucking knew it. Never, ever trust the little kids! Bet she just looks like one, like how Belph looks like a kid but she ain't. If we ever meet her again, she dies. Now I know why she almost shat bricks upon seeing Daiyu. She was afraid she'd been found out!
>>
>>3150011
>So Deruella is a ranged support fighter?
You'll have to make a judgment with what you see, the royal family is far too unique to be described reliably in term of battle capabilities.

What you can see is that Deru isn't wounded.

>Is she more of a machine gun acid spitter or we talking big globs of acidic artillery?

Neither, it's more of a precision projectile, something like a dark coming out really fast.

>I assume the spy team's been wiped out and is currently being raised to fight us.

The stranger near Vilma is looking to be a succubus, she has a pair head and hip wings.

>Plenty of debris around yes? Anything nice, big and heavy and/or pointy nearby for our new Gravity Gun soul arm to launch at the people we hate?

Yeah, there are many pieces lying around.

>We can have the arm holding a nice big chunk of something and still activate the gauntlet if needed right?

Yes.

The kid has done nothing wrong.
>>
>>3150029
No, no the child has done something very wrong. First thing she did wrong, become an apostle. Second thing, try and brainwash our Lich. Third thing, try and kill our knight. She's a bad girl and should do us the favor of dying.

Vilma's on her knees and that's kinda what happened when we got infected. So as we approach her we ask a very important question, "Did she infect you too?" Do we feel that connection with Vilma? If we do then we won't even need to ask the question. We'll just know.

Grab a nice big piece of debris with the soul arm as we do this. We'll either need it for cover or will get a chance to use it to grease an apostle. Big chunk of heavy debris at fastball speeds or higher to the dome or center of mass will liquefy offending organs and kill them very much dead. My hope is we can fire a max power (though not overcharged, we don't wanna break our weapon) homing bolt at one and use our fat rok on another.

An alternative option. Does holy energy fuck up necromancy? We could battery up with Elina and just fucking nuke the place with a holy nova if it does. That'd solve a lot of problems.
>>
>>3150064
>Big chunk of heavy debris at fastball speeds or higher to the dome or center of mass will liquefy offending organs and kill them very much dead.

Hitting an apostle would need a roll of varying difficulty depending on where you land.

So far, seems like the idea is to have Elina land next to the lich and help in handling the new wave of fleshgaits.

>An alternative option. Does holy energy fuck up necromancy? We could battery up with Elina and just fucking nuke the place with a holy nova if it does. That'd solve a lot of problems.

It does. Remember that time Elina began throwing white fumes out her hands? Holy is a healing/purifying force and necromancy is an offset of summoning that act on bodies, the souls tied to them are weak and easily dispersed without a strong enough ego to earn the benefit of Holy.

What you propose is rather risky since Elina has a relatively weak area of Influence(3 meters). Making a big nova could be dangerous (for you).

Don't bully Mimiru.

>>3150092
To add on the Holy vs Necromancy effect, summons that had with great efforts put into them aren't subjected to this weakness.

For example, Teruko sand wurm isn't going to be exorcized because it is a strengthened spirit inside a properly built astral body. The various summons you've seen Vilma use would also fall into a similar category because the lich has always used quality instead of quantity.

Ergo, if you believe the present case is one of relatively weak summons, then using holy would be very effective.

This free lecture was given to you by your friendly pregnant lizard.
>>
>>3150104
Teruko is a good girl. Today we save Vilma, tomorrow we protect her.

Ok, so nova's not an option then. Damn, it's never easy with you is it? Could we supercharge her with a chunk of our reserves so for a minute or two her 3 meters becomes a death sentence for weak summons? She's quick so that'd let her just mow em' all down almost as fast as the nova would without risking a burnout. Plus if it doesn't work she can shift and dump the remainder into a big ass wind spell instead.. Actually, how viable is a wind giga blast?

I will bulli her until she begs for forgiveness and for the bulli to stop. I won't.
>>
>>3150162
>Could we supercharge her with a chunk of our reserves so for a minute or two her 3 meters becomes a death sentence for weak summons?

I can't give a straight answer because, as we all know, Arawn magical nature is incredibly moldable and can lead to some DRASTIC effect. Remember Teruko long dragons? Allowing Elina to take a big chunk of your reserve could lead to something pretty wild.

>Actually, how viable is a wind giga blast?

Hurricane level of devastation.

Ghouls have it hard.
>>
>>3150177
Hurricane force wind blast is within reach y'don't say? Oh man that's tempting, but we have party members that might get caught in it. if we could drop it on top of the Apostle's formation though or fire it like a cone in their direction or in a way that it wipes out that incoming wave of hostiles...

Daiyu isn't going to like the bill but the effects could be worth those piles of gold lost in property damage.

Not as hard as Mimiru will have it if we ever get our hands on her. The bulli will be eternal.

>Oh man that's tempting, but we have party members that might get caught in it. if we could drop it on top of the Apostle's formation though or fire it like a cone in their direction or in a way that it wipes out that incoming wave of hostiles..

Elina isn't trained to handle your magic, so expect wild stuff.

Meaning you'll never have a certainty to make a precise spell until you get some training done with your host.

You could have become her friend if you went with Vilma, yet you didn't!
>>
>>3150214
Hmm... we'll have to start experimenting with the non-summoners in our party soon as possible. We can do it with at least two at a time. Perhaps more in a single session, link, feed, break, link with others, feed, break. Let all the girls feel the love and power of our Elf's pasty soul mana!

Nope. Even with your past together, she's not trained in handling your magic.

Damn. Well, I'm not against the Vilma option, but we're still loading our soul arm Gravity Gun with a big ol' chunk of debris for the reasons I mentioned earlier. No matter what we end up doing, it's just simply a good idea to tack that onto it.
>>
I see a lot of bloodthirst in the anons, particularly when discussing what Arawn will do if they grab Mimiru or Ama.

I for one don't think Arawn is the kind to go full cruel/sadistic torture on his enemies. His trait is not Rage, after all, but Sloth.

Arawn's actions would, s I am guessing, be curt and contundent, but not excessive nor would he recreate himself in the whole aspect of 'hurting the bitch'.

With how we've shaped him so far, sudden displays of the brutal and unusual punishments would likely break character.

I'd expect things like those more of Siegfrid, if he were to revert to that time of his life where he wore that one mask and slaugthered Mamonos.
>>
>>3150364
Technically it's just me talkin'. I'm pretty vocal. In my head we'd just make Mimiru the "bitch" of the party. Y'know, clean the floors, fetch the drinks, make the sandwiches (with meat she's not allowed to eat for it is the good meat, she gets to eat the cheapest of cheap cuts and nothing better) and generally just giving her a hard time without physically hurting her. This is the essence of bulli.
>>
>>3150177
>I can't give a straight answer because, as we all know, Arawn magical nature is incredibly moldable and can lead to some DRASTIC effect. Remember Teruko long dragons? Allowing Elina to take a big chunk of your reserve could lead to something pretty wild.

>>
>>3150375

Ah, that's good kind of bulli. She gonna get teased into oblivion.
>>
>>3150571
Worst that could happen is random wind blades fired in the vague direction she's trying to aim them or holy fire/sludge launched in a similar fashion (assuming the magic doesn't try to deal damage to the user as they do that). No AoE attempts beyond cones aimed in the opposite direction of allies, friendly fire isn't after all.

I wonder if he'll give us a vote after we land. For now, my vote is to land next to Vilma as we grab the biggest and heaviest chunk of debris we can as we do and immediately ask if she's been infected once we're within earshot.

If the answer is no there's another option to vote on, battery Vilma up. If she's not infected we can try to help her counterspell this necromantic bullshit. Or raise a zombie horde of our own, that'd also help.

Rolled 2 (1d6)

This roll is for your soul arm spell.

''Forget the leaders, we're here to make sure nobody dies!'' The surreal serenity inside Elina protective bubble allows your voice to carry without being trampled by surrounding noises of battles.

''Right, hold on!'' Her long wings flapped, magic and will trampled the world laws of motion: You and Elina were propelled into a downward diagonal with the force of a ballista.

''Nhaa!?'' Vilma screamed and fell on her back while the Mamono next to her stood her ground, the angel landing create a small burst of wind that forced the nearby ghouls to stand their grounds or stumble. There, you release your hold on your friend and immediately conjured your soul arm.

Soul Arm cast: High

The limb stretched out of your spine and grabbed a nearby piece of debris, strong claps of thunders surrounded Klesiah as she aimed -and failed- to hit the blond blood beast that hopped around like a spider, managing to wiggle around incessantly, throwing off the blue knight aim. A sudden strong noise behind you revealed that Deruella foe had somehow managed to create an explosion; harmless stones rained down all around and gravel smokes added with the sickly blue necromantic fog -which was already disappearing- to create a competent smokescreen that vomited a constant stream of pale fleshgaits. Spears of liquid darkness suddenly sprouted out of the Corrupted ground, Deruella mutations had somehow modified the terrain into a column of deadly traps.

''Vilma, are you okay!? Did she infect you too!?''

The lich was showing far too many emotions to accurately gauge anything aside from panics and stretched out nerves.

''I-I-I!? I don't know!?'' Her magic flowed against the surrounding sorcery of the fog that tried to raise nearby corpses, pale ghouls rushed your position in renewed numbers, pouring out of five distinctive houses. A row of golden obstruction was suddenly raised in a cubic shield wall to protect you and Vilma, Elina began flying around with her halberd, charging into pockets of creatures then promptly exploding.

Your first idea to throw pieces around proved useless, all the leaders were already gone so instead you used your spell like a flexible mace, reaching above the protective wall -Elina had forgotten to make a roof in her haste- and stomping beasts that came close with a particularly sturdy piece of wall proved efficient. Klesiah had fallen back closer, her glaive danced in wide circles in a deadly and beautiful waltz of death. Using the full reach of her polearm and enchanting it with thunders, she held the entire flank by her lonesome in a beautiful ballet of blue, violet and red.

Deruella had stepped off her sickly dark throne, having planted both of her mutated arms in that ball and splitting it apart, there she began swinging them around like a pair of wrecking balls not too dissimilar to your own use of Soul Arm. Elina provided flexible, deadly reinforcement; all the creatures pouring out of these cursed houses charged into single-minded slaughter, wherever pressure began to mount the angel was there, reversing the tide with the thickest of butchery, creating wide sweep with her halberd that carved through obstacles, be they meat or stones.

You didn't know when things ended but an ending did impose itself once everything that wasn't human was reduced to a gory meaty pulp or sliced apart. Fifty corpses made for a sickening mess and for a moment there was silence and serenity, a few seconds of calm before reality truly sank in. Everyone was alive thankfully, that Mamono stranger near Vilma hadn't done much because of her wounds but her brown eyes translated silent thank for your speedy arrival.

''Vilma...?'' You murmured, the little lich was vigorously rubbing her eyes, panting loudly, breaking the spell of stillness in your group; the necromantic fog was gone, nothing moved. That thing had undeniably been created to cover the Apostle's retreats.

''Ah... it's over...'' She murmured, glancing fearfully toward the carnage then shifting her stare at you. ''I-I...I think I'm okay...?'' Signs of hyperventilation had you bite your tongue and pat her head, your questions will need to wait a few minutes for her nerves to settle down.

''My...urgh!'' Klesiah vomited out an ominous red splat on the ground. Two trails of blood traveled out of her nostril and her wounds -those horrific thin holes in the metal of her armor- kept a steady pour of red dying the blue. Perhaps in these last few minutes, Klesiah had reached the threshold of her endurance because of these deadly wounds.

''Hold still!'' You didn't even need to scream for Elina, the angel was already above your stalwart knight who crumpled to one knee; out of her palms poured a steady white fog disappearing inside Klesiah body and she closed her eyes in contentment. In seconds, Klesiah breathing returned to normal, oozing blood stopped and the angel made a worrisome remark.

''Your wounds weren't deep at all.'' She said, halo brightening with her furrowed brows. ''Yet still blood poured in an incessant ebb...''

''I think that creature was...cursed or maybe enchanted to cause exsanguination.'' Klesiah took in a long, satisfied gulp of air and pushed her airs on her knee as she took a seat on a large piece of broken masonry. Without Holy, perhaps her fate would have been to agonize right there and die, she returned a fatigued smile when your eyes crossed. Restraining yourself from hugging her was incredibly difficult.

''Dearie, would you be a doll and administer careful healing to our last wounded friend?'' Deruella jaw had already reformed, her face had returned into beautiful, familiar traits albeit covered by worrisome tar. both of her hands were covered by Corruptions, her entire sundress was now nothing more than a dark mess sticking to her body. Peerless white wings and beautiful cloudy hair were also marked by this deadly oil of never-ending chaos. ''That was exciting.'' She commented with a satisfied grin as your gazes crossed, her dark scleras looked a little more natural in this carnage.

Half the street was ruined. You couldn't feel Lady Whtie influences insides the houses anymore, something had been activated in them... then burnt out, would there be any traces?

''How did you?'' Deruella shook her head before you could finish your question.

''Let's worry about my involvement later, darling. I'm happy you came so quickly, I might have had to poison the entire street otherwise.'' There her gaze directed itself to Vilma who managed to stand on her own two feet whilst the unknown succubus -undoubtedly one of Belphegor agent- commented about searching the houses for the remains of her partner.

''Reinforcement should be coming soon, perhaps in five more minutes... maybe ten.'' This place -was- rather far and nobody else had the gift of flight.

''Giving Vilma bodyguards truly was a little stroke of genius.'' Deruella genuine praises felt bitter in your ears after all, would you have been able to find out something was wrong with Vilma without Ama game? ''We didn't have any time to talk but I have to say, you're a sharp lady-knight indeed to have gotten Vilma out of that house so quickly.''

An adorable pinch of apple red came to color Klesiah pale face and Vilma finally settled down, she was observing this gentle attempt at normality with keen interest. ''Would you believe it if I said that a little golden butterfly whispered for me to be careful?''

''Ho ho?'' The white... now dark Lilim spaded tail curled in amusement. Elina timidly walked next to Vilma who twitched at this proximity and the angel stepped back sourly, blue eyes briefly questing for yours; a little exchange that hasn't gone unnoticed.

''I don't... I don't know... I-I can't even trust my own memories; Mimiru was... she's-'she's always been so kind, you guys were all so m-mean...''

''Memory alteration is a disgusting thing, little love.'' Deruella tone was grim and serious. ''I've used it myself, it is a long-term ritual of paradoxical strength. Altered memories tend to become eternal after a little while but if the subject finds out -as you have- things should already be correcting themselves but it would same that hateful fluff has a few tricks I can't figure out.''

''D-do... Do you mean I'll never...? I-I can't even trust something from the long past like-like my mistress in Arnbjorn?''

''Mistress?'' Elina frowned. ''Vilma, you told me your old teacher was a man, a druid of these northern isles, not a woman.''

Vilma crestfallen expression was heartbreaking.

A sudden clamor erupted from both ends of the streets, a pair of scouts from the militias had come to investigate and, upon finding the end of hostilities, extended their cordons to seclude your precise area with a crowd of curious onlookers following close behind. Perhaps they wouldn't be getting any closers without a signal from Deruella, who seemed to be completely ignoring them, so deep in thoughts that she might as well be gone.

Muffled swears from the ruined houses revealed the succubus success, she had found her partner and took care to somewhat hide a grimly battered body amongst the wreckage, then she sad by her lonesome and rubbed her face with enough strength to slice into her skin with her nails.

>Wait for everyone else to come before saying anything else.

So succubus spy lost her best friend and our relationship with Vilma has been totally reset with the possibility of her previous memories being forever lost?

Damn that fox to hell! Ask about the ambush. Something similar is probably being set up in the bazaar for Teruko.
>>
>>3151676

With a bit of luck, not totally reset. Deruella should be able to help a little, and so should Tui. Lastly, we could refresh the lich's memories. But first, if she remembers us being mean to her, we will need her to tell us what she remembers us doing to her. Also, how long she recalls having known Miru. She only just met her a little bit ago, right?

She met Mimiru roughly two weeks ago and visited her often.
>>
''How did these hostilities began?'' It was with some reluctance that you let go of Focus. Your makeshift mace had proved very useful but all the bits of gores stuck into that broken piece of masonry wasn't going to invite proper dialogue, especially with the grayish arm linked to you.

''I think the fighting began... thirty minutes ago?'' Klesiah breathlessly answered, casting a glance toward Deruella who twitched nervously, brought out of deep reflexions.

''I'd say so.'' Answered the dirtied demoness. ''Little Mimiru looked to be an adequate host despite her destitution, what's with bringing you two outside into the forge and visiting nearby stores... The mood must have soured when that jester showed up.''

''Mimiru wanted her sister to show us her library in the basement.'' Klesiah eyebrows knitted into a frow and observed Vilma who grimaced while holding her head, murmuring. ''We went there often...''

''That's when I knew something was wrong, especially with a masked woman pretending herself Mimiru kin, mayhap there was truth in their claims that she was disfigured, but I wasn't about to go down there. Not with a jester.''

''They lost patience and turned hostile?'' Deruella asked yet Klesiah shook her head.

''My refusal made me unpopular so instead, we gathered in the living room and began to talk, Mimiru spoke about her relationship with Vilma, her duel inside her majesty Jawahir arena... I saw a golden butterfly casually flying outside the window, that's when I knew to be careful.'' Plucking out pieces of meats out of her hair, Klesiah calmly continued. ''Something must have been in the tea I refused to drink because Vilma looked somnolent, next thing I knew that jester conjured a weapon and Mimiru tried to bring Vilma downstair.''

''Then my friends entered...'' Deruella glanced sadly toward the lonely succubus. ''...and horrible ghouls poured out of these houses. Hm. Curious, can't have been a portal...'' She almost began walking toward a house but one glance at Vilma convinced Deruella to remain put and, it seems, try to puzzle out the lich situation.

A few long minutes passed like this, standing in this carnages was beginning to make things awkward, thankfully there wasn't much blood despite the number of corpses. enough to make the street red and many corpses still bled a continuous flow but it could be worse.

Maybe.

Out of nowhere a tear in the world of golden disposition pierced a familiar hole in reality some distance toward the left of your group whereupon a trio walked out a pretty redhead, a ninetailed fox and Overlord Gwendolyn with renewed composure.

''My, so glad to see my lovely highness return.'' Deruella sarcasm earned an ominous glare from Sieglinde who had discarded her mutations.

''You'll need hours of purifications.'' Then Sieglinde made a show of loudly inhaling. ''And a bath.''

''I always knew the smell of slaughter titillated your senses, sweetie.'' Deruella grin was downright predatory and Sieglinde ignored her little sister by giving her hair it's usual majestic swoosh.

''This is... impressive.'' Gwendolyn murmured, single eye shrinking while concentrated on Vilma. She wasn't looking so lonely anymore with Elina beside her. ''She's the victim?'' Gwen asked you with two tendrils curling sideways to observe your flanks.

''I-I don't really... know what's what anymore.'' Vilma had obviously heard, restraining tears. ''Everyone here besides Arawn was... mean, nobody liked my race, my magic y-yet...All of you came for me?''

''I don't abandon my retainers.'' Sieglinde replied, briefly staring at her friends then grew bashful upon gazing into Vilma pale gaze and glared at the faraway assembled onlookers. Gwendolyn left your side to crouch in front of the smaller lich, all of her many eyes now staring at the purple girl.

''We've never met but I'd like to do what I can. I was born to influence minds... although perhaps it's too soon to start anything.''

''I-I don't...know.'' Vilma lips tightened in hesitation, glances fearfully toward you. Had the alterations truly taken roots? Was she condemned to remember these false memories of abuses from all of her true friends?

''I don't like this. We can... We have to protect her soul.'' Gardy comment was a growl of metal that sent chill up your spine. Memories ARE important parts of souls...
>>
''Arawn?'' Your bubble of thoughts burst with Sieglinde gentle interruption. Her tail was curled in a spiral -definitive sign of hesitation- and her red gaze quested silent permission to come at your side. You nodded soundlessly, Sieglinde bridged the distance to keep her voice in a whisper. ''You said something about proof of guilt about the Javed?''

''Me, Martha and Tuilelaith saw a point of that white fluff influence inside one of the manors.'' You responded grimly. ''I'm not... feeling her influence in the nearby houses, nor.... nothing from the southeast where the bazaar ought to be...?'' Your speech had become rambling halfway through and only Sieglinde voice brought you back to reality.

''Destroying evidence.'' She announced through gritted teeth. ''Perhaps it's already too late, Klesiah informed me the leaders ran away, this wasn't a random or importune strike.'' You only nodded. Of course, they'd shift into immediate damage control!

''Maybe if we go toward the manor now we'll catch them with their pants down.'' Despite her rigorous pragmatism, Sieglinde remained a woman of the heart; her glance remained focused on Vilma. ''...I'm worried. Is it really over like that? Is there nothing we can do for Villy?''

For a moment you glanced toward Tuilelaith who was crouched near a pile of corpses, sniffing blood and sliced up meat, then she looked skyward toward Throne Town gorgeous dusk sky heralding the Hour of Lullaby. Not too far was Deruella, her tenebrous stare was on you with a quiet, choking intensity that you could almost hear the gears of her mind creakings. What in the world is she thinking about?

No free choice. This is an important course of action, think it over carefully

>''I think we need to strike while the iron is hot.'' [Find the Javed household now.]

>''Let's speak with your sister. I'm worried about Vilma and I think she and the Overlord are the only ones that can do something now.'' [Concentrate your attention on Vilma instead. Is the danger truly gone? No, it can't be. Lady White wouldn't make this so easy.]

And I forgot to say I'll end here tonight. We're getting into an important part now, good thing the weekend is so near.
>>
>''Let's speak with your sister. I'm worried about Vilma and I think she and the Overlord are the only ones that can do something now.'' [Concentrate your attention on Vilma instead. Is the danger truly gone? No, it can't be. Lady White wouldn't make this so easy.]

This is important: Danger is not yet gone. Vilma is safe, but guess who might not be: Teruko. What if this was all a distraction and these creatures manifest again to attack Teruko?

Since it is close to the Lullaby's Hour, we can access the Red world.

Actually, Deruella wanted to know how these creatures had spawned into reality. She was musing about how no portals were used. Perhaps they just phased into reality, much like when we phased into the red world?

There is no guarantee it can't happen again. Deruella must know of this possible method of getting to and fro the Red world. It is likely this is how these aberrations are showing up so suddenly.

Perhaps she will be able to do something with this knowledge.
>>
>>3151952
A most sadistic choice. If we go now we can likely nab the bastards in the act and thus decisively eliminate a dangerous and subversive threat to the throne... but then Vilma is stuck with fake memories of everyone but us hating her guts and abusing the shit out of her and it's likely the primary blood nest. Vilma might end up abducted if we go so she then ends up an apostle who hates everyone but us anyway despite all our efforts.

Likewise, if we act now on Vilma we can undo most of the damage bad fluffy's crew inflicted upon our poor lich... but then the Javed will successfully destroy all evidence leaving the Jawahir dynasty with a known threat they can't expunge (without starting a civil war or getting labeled a tyrant and facing a rebellion that is) that could try this kind of shit again later on after the heat dies down. They're vampires, I presume they don't die of old age. They got all the time in the world to try it all again and we all know that they will.

After thinking it over... We can't countermand Gardy on this. He says, with urgency, that we *have* to protect Vilma's soul, ergo, we will protect Vilma's soul with Deruella's help.

May the equivalent of pic related happen to the Javed leadership. They need to hurry up and figure out cars in this world so the ultimate reaper of souls can be made manifest. There were steam powered cars in the past so the tech is pretty close.

Solid reasoning all around.
But also note that we might not be a necessity for a force going to the manor. Someone should go that way while we protect Vilma.
>>
>>3152709
If we're within portal range of the Javed manor we could send a detachment of succubi shapeshifted to look like our party to do that. It'd be effective, but it'd also be a suicide mission for the succubi. Their deaths would allow the royal family to crack down on em' as that's a crime ya can't just up and ignore but there's the moral implications. I'm down with that as we're literally fighting against what amounts to Satan but are *they* cool with that play?

Then there's also the issue of our link with the White one. If we offer up that solution to this problem, they might well know of our ploy before it's even launched. They did retreat after all and that's probably because they knew that our posse was en route and they knew damn well that they couldn't handle a second lilim (that actually specializes in CQB to boot), a Gazer with debris all around to telekinetically fling (i.e. the perfect environment to max out their combat potential), and Tui, the 9-tailed archenemy's most favored champion coming in hot. Yeah, time to bug out if you're them if ya got any functioning brain cells remaining.

So the real question is, are Sieg and Deru cool with directly and knowingly sacrificing more succubi for the cause? And, as this will confirm without a shadow of a doubt that anything we suggest is basically said in the presence of Lady White herself, how will that affect our relationship with the girls?
>>
>>3152964
>If we're within portal range of the Javed manor
Tuilelaith never went there, so you aren't in range.

>are Sieg and Deru cool with directly and knowingly sacrificing more succubi for the cause?

They never will be cool with that but know to swallow their displeasure

I'll be taking this evening to rest up a little, so our thread will resume tomorrow.
>>
>>3152964
I only meant Aaron isn't a necessity to kick in the door of the manor. Other powerful people can go if they're not needed for Vilma.
>>
>>3154548
Arawn is the only one who can sense the area with Lady White influence, it's the proof that'll be needed to make accusations sticks.

Although you could maybe insist on splitting the party after this decision, for now Sieglinde also wants to hear her sister opinion, that's where the group is proceeding.
>>
>>3154548
He kinda is, we'd need to pinpoint the ritual room and only he/we can do that.

Then there's Vilma. It'll probably take everyone here to ensure the success of whatever ritual is needed to reverse the mind fuckery bad fluffy's best friends inflicted upon her. Also, a song that imparts the most sage advice in these situations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6y4XYxhA-o

Cold pragmatism whispered grim reality that you were letting go of an important opportunity. Only you could accurately find Lady White influence inside the Javed manor, if they were allowed time to hide it... then invading their manors with accusations of heresy or intrigue against the crown without substantial proofs would be nothing more than tyranny.

Sieglinde had carefully weighted these options yet, after giving one last glance at Klesiah, Elina, Gwendolyn, and Vilma, she observes you and her little sister then wordlessly nodded -a signal of understanding- that she accepted your resolution. The few before the many.

''It's a beautiful afternoon, darlings.'' Deruella greeted your duo, scratching at her face, peeling off traces of dark tar marring her beautiful pale skin. Corruption had hardened into a soft crust that ruined her dress, hardened her hair, seemingly covering the princess with a soft exoskeleton. Her stare hadn't lost its intensity, yet she seemed to observe past you, never once making eye contacts

''Your majesty.'' You began, earning an amused smirk from the dirtied demoness. ''Do you know much about memories alterations? What happened to Vilma...'' You made sure to keep your voice low, no need to have the lich overhear and worsen her mood. ''Is it truly irreversible?''

''There's this incessant buzzing in my head, a busy little bee vibrating its wings.'' Deruella response was accompanied by a loud scratching noise as she peeled off a piece of dried Corruption. Good thing you're immune.

''Deru come on, take him seriously. I want to know too..'' Sieglinde brows furrowed angrily. ''...You're the best when it comes to curses.''

''I am giving our prince his deserved respect my sweet great sister.'' Deruella eyes finally concentrated on you and Sieglinde. ''Rebuilding the alteration ritual in my head is irritating indeed because such a powerful -and quick- implantation of so many memories isn't possible. All the lies plaguing Vilma past should have evaporated like morning dew following her heartful discussion with Klesiah, everyone concerns -and corrections of what she believe happened- really make her plight into one annoying bee.'' The sheer intensity in her gaze was an enthralling hypnotism of intellectual might.

''I think it's been almost two weeks since her fight in the arena?'' You turned to Sieglinde who nodded wordlessly. ''Many things happened before that, Vilma is something of an introverted girl, perhaps that's what made her a good target.''

''Alteration of an early memory by modifying her druidic master from the frozen isles of Arnbjorn is an adequate first step to create a foothold; however, our sweet angelic guardian was quick to point out this inconsistency, making our situation baffling because the curse should have been dispelled by Vilma realizing the truth.'' Pinching her chin, Deruella stare returned into its previous feeling of absence, mind far away from this street of carnage. ''It is as if Vilma's memories changed overnight, with almost everything tied with her precious inner circle turned negatively whilst Mimiru somehow enjoyed becoming her best friend. Ugly, ugly little girl.''

''That entire week where we prepared Vilma trial was... passionate.'' Sieglinde said while forcing a smile to shake off her worries. ''She went through many strong emotions, there's an inferno of passion inside her, she'd... there's no way her soul would be weak enough to succumb like that.''

''A week isn't enough to reshape so many memories and make them stick. no, no... something else happened to our poor little love.'' Deruella tail flicked angrily, thankfully her dried Corruption was sticky enough to avoid peeling off. ''I think she might have suffered through an entirely different ritual in Mimiru basement, she went there alone a few times yes?''

Sieglinde nodded and silence fell between the sisters as Deruella expression soured. Gwendolyn and Elina were taking good care of Vilma, your purple friend had found enough resolves to restrain her slow tears and as the Hour of Lullaby progressed...

Hold on. Hold on. Recalling your first foray into the Red World... Wasn't that two days ago? Before Zipangu royals and Gwendolyn arrival? Back then Vilma was with the group sitting on a picnic table...

>One of a golden white with hues of natural red for Elina, one of dull white gray for Hao, one of pale violet for Klesiah, a dark silvery light showed the Demon Lord herself and... Green, gold, and white melded together to reveal Teruko three life essences.

You hadn't seen much details about Vilma soul because...

>All the girls beside Vilma glowered intense sight-burning vitality.

Yes, hers had appeared dull, easily dwarfed by her friend's potent existence. She hadn't shown any symptoms of alteration back then; if anything she had been ready to step with you inside that hellish dimension. Perhaps there had been a hint, something odd that could have awakened your suspicion had you tried to examine her? Wouldn't you have been at least able to see the color of her soul?

''Our joining has made it much more difficult for me to peer across the spiritual veil. I can only do so safely during the Lullaby, give me a moment Arawn'' There was no guarding your thoughts against this dependable Embodiment of Protection. His presence diminished, needing a few minutes of preparations to move away from your natural influence.

''Deruella, is there any particular reasons why liches need to consume souls? Is their case similar to vampires?'' Your question attracted both sisters attention and Deruella traits relaxed, perhaps eager to answer something truthfully.

''Whilst considering vampires physiology fragile because of their dependency on blood is a matter of debate, liches aren't so lucky. Their souls are unfortunately weaker than most, meaning a lack of intensity, a predisposition for ailments of bodies because of a failure of synchrony...'' her gaze widened in sudden realization. ''...This can motivate rare predators dwelling inside that place with attempts to harm them.''

A foreign feeling invaded your psyche with such intensity that your entire body tensed like a coiled spring. Cold, frigid hatred gripped your heart and settled inside your brain, filling you with bloody purpose. Putting logic inside this sensation was difficult, it was... murderous intent, the rawest feeling of hatred you could have ever felt.

And it all came from Gardy.

''Magritew. It's infesting her soul.'' His inorganic voice of rubbing metal resonated throughout your body, the way both sisters looked to you made you realize you might have spoken out loud.

''No fucking way!'' Tuilelaith stepped into your small circle with this angry whisper, this sudden activity inevitably caught everyone else attention but the vixen tails slithered around the girl's backs to act as barriers. ''You're speaking about an horror of antiquity, a hunter of souls, the name literally translates as Soul Eater. Lass can't be dealing with one, she'd be dead, sucked dry by now.''

''It isn't so farfetched. Assuming this particular creature was trained, the inherent weakness of a lich soul could become a little more... malleable to manipulation.'' Deruella grin widened dangerously, throwing a near-manic gaze at the shorter, older vixen.

''You don't understand.'' Tuilelaith shook her head, long ears twitching. ''Even Pretenders Gods of olds dealt with those things extremely carefully, it's said they needed the sacrifice of forty virgins to summon them into our world, their insatiable hunger needed daily appeasement. Targets of assassinations had to be marked with a particular astral brand for the Magritew to hunt it down.''

''Magic changed greatly since antiquity.'' Deruella retorted calmly. ''It's undeniable Vilma is suffering hard implantation of a false narrative and that only happens through manipulation of souls. If it isn't a blood ritual of alteration, what else could it be? A being that consumes souls can also manipulate it, I dare say if such an entity could have somehow grown a spark of genuine sentience because of, say, a dreamy Demon Lord generousness... Besides, given this carnage.'' She gestured for the all the corpses. ''Our ugly foe isn't starved of numbers.

Alright after a dozen tries, nothing bloody worked. Made a pastebin so check out the end here https://pastebin.com/kW8ey2uC and here are the choices to make things a little cleaner.

>''Yeah, let's do it buddy.'' (Physically enter the Red World)

>''I think... it'd be better to strategize, Gardy. If it's so dangerous, we can't rush this.'' (There has to be a better solution)

Trying to ask questions or precisions about this will need you to go for the second choice. This is an act now or wait situation.
>>
>''Yeah, let's do it buddy.'' (Physically enter the Red World)

It is time! Let's show how solid our willingness to fight for our beloved ones is!

It also frightens me that if we had chosen to pursue the Javed, this horrible situation would have passed subtly, right under our noses.
>>

Actually, wait. Is it possible to bring anyone along with us?

We haven't ATTEMPTED to do this before, but... perhaps we could try?
>>
>>3156019
There's the free option, you can try.

That's the best way I can put it since you haven't exercised how to bring someone through the veil.

And well, whoever you choose might not be too keen on doing it either.
>>
As this is a fairly important choice, I'd like to get another vote to make sure we don't have disagreements. I'll wait about 20 or 30 more minutes before proceeding.
>>
>>3155993
Boss fight eh? So it deals direct damage to the soul. Is bestest buddy immune to its attacks or something? Can we enter super mode before engaging it in combat?
>>
>>3156085
I can be merciful and answer these.
>Is bestest buddy immune to its attacks or something?

Not immune, resistant.

>Can we enter super mode before engaging it in combat?

Yes.
>>
If we do go through this bringing an ally in, we should pick someone who knows how to handle themselves in that world. That we know, only Daiyu can. Wait, Sieglinde also had an influence in that realm, when we were over. Her presence helped last time!

I vote for either Sieglinde or Tui.

If no consensus is arrived on this manner, though, I'll switch my vote to going at it alone.

Y'know red world, Eldritch horrors, etc.

That's a question I can't answer unless you commit to it by asking Deruella.

Alright, we've got one hard choice. Since I've been sleep deprived today I've only enough energy to make one last update. Unless I get new votes soon I'll proceed with the voted option.

Welp, better hope we get super mode then. We're gonna need it.

''I believe we can do something quite amazing with her lordship Gwendolyn help...''

''Listen, your mother needs to be informed.''

''You're thinking of doing a blood ritual right, Deru? We've got adequate material here but how exactly can we even... I mean if this thing is attached to Vilma, wouldn't it be incredibly dangerous for her?''

Perhaps their argument would soon devolve into bickering, the trio of women had seemingly forgotten about you. Your heartbeat was steady, your breathing calm and composed, Gardy intension melded with yours. Vilma... she's part of those friends you want -need- to protect.

''Milord?'' Klesiah gentle steps were accompanied by awkward clicks of metals yet she somehow to avoid being heard before speaking.

''Hey.'' You were already feeling this deep sense of lethargy, Gardy existence superseded yours and he slowly but surely proceeded into that alternate dimension, like sinking into mud. ''I'm doing what I have to do.''

She knew. Her shiny gaze shifted into immediate worry and a loud protest was reduced to silence, soon enough Klesiah existence disappeared as if her body had been a mirage, replaced by a gorgeous purplish flame. Being so close felt hot and dangerous so you promptly took a step back then moved out of the way, Sieglinde unusual soul was a never-ending source of awe; it was a beautifully macabre sight.

''No wandering creatures.'' Gardy statement brought you back to reality.

This Red World glowed a permanent inner light that almost completely extinguished any traces of shadows, the sky ominous maelstrom lingered above leisurely... yet there wasn't any lingering monstrosity. Fifty beasts had died, their souls might have been of dubious quality but it is undeniable that a great many beasts ought to have been lingering around, engaging in a massacre that couldn't have been contained by the Lullaby.

There was no shine to your undead friend, her color was a worrying mixture of darkened brown and green like an old rotted tree covered by moss that somehow seemed made of glass. Something was attached to her.

Ten tendrils of pale blue-white sank deep into Vilma humanoid core, proceeding upward into a human torso of bones floating by some unearthly phenomenon, the creature showed a pair of long arms lazily swaying down its flanks while it's face might have once been a man but now it was nothing more than a mutated simulacrum of humanity, showing nothing more than invasive tendrils with two glowing eyes of blue burning like far away stars inserted deeply inside bony sockets.

It was observing you carefully, swaying back and forth in some invisible current with careful movements that gave you an impression of a wild predator, a lion protecting a newly caught meal. Or perhaps some kind of underwater monstrosity.

Lady White nasty surprise. Had you gone for the Javed family, you might have been able to accomplish something suitably important by, maybe, putting the entire clan into some sort of house arrest once the vixen ritual area was found but that would have meant ignoring this creature, whatever dark purpose it had was clearly not going to be healthy for your friend.

Maybe this entire debacle in Mimiru house was related to that creature in the first place.

When you first joined with Vilma, didn't you see something attached to her back then? No, no... that can't be connected.

''Don't get distracted.'' Gardy voice held a proper living tone again as if coming out of a thick steel helmet. ''This is the Magritew.''

''I won't let it feast on Vilma.'' You growled. This aggression made the entity react by bending itself backward, unblinking eyes keeping a constant careful stare on you. It didn't appear violent but it was undeniably far above the Red World usual entities.

There wasn't any obvious sign yet... your purpose with the Embodiment of Protection melded into a single whole. Your and his desires -deep, deep into the very core of your heart and indeed personality where souls connected with the body- resonated with twin ambitions of protection and restoration; both utterly violated by this damnable creature.

Opening yourself to Focus wasn't a conscious thought. Magic poured out of you freely in vast enough quantities to lose grip on reality. Seconds flowed in a haze, sensations dimmed; feminine voices resonated in your head, memories almost coalesced to create one personality.

Like that the spell was done, the Red World functioned differently than Mother Earth reality. There, Gardy had appeared as a ghostly figure attached to your body, here... perhaps you were showing your true self. Your hands had looked metallic before and this reality perdured, yet now they were thicker, made of copper and gold with a visible core of dark obsidian. Intricate parts seemed to create a strange, moldable limb of artificiality.

Your entire body had become artificial, a chassis of battle. Of protection.

Perhaps this was the true nature of your entire existence. Gardy had given you his body and now roused with renewed purpose, the Embodiment of Protection took his first step to accomplish ages old duties.

Gardy personality seemed to be sleeping, yet not entirely gone. Experiences and knowledge flowed into you, borrowed skills from your benefactor. Leaving you in charge in seemed... or perhaps he was taking care of something else in this Joining.

There the Magritew sat, observing you carefully. This creature attacked directly into souls, slicing off chunks and consuming them; ripping it off Vilma shouldn't be too difficult, only without a host will it began to truly lash out and grow vulnerable.

Your Joining with Gardy occurred perfectly because of your friendly relationship and similar objectives.
>>
As you folks have no real ideas of your capabilities, we'll operate like this.

>Attack.[Light/Medium/Hard/All-Out].
Light will favor a quick, probing strike to test or interrupt your enemy.
Medium is a careful attack, meant to react against your enemy. Think of it as an offensive-defensive.
Hard is self-explanatory. A big, damaging attack.
All-Out is a dangerous gamble where you give everything you've got.
>Defense
Defensive options will open once you need it, for now, the Magritew isn't attacking.
>Observe.
Take some time to examine your foe and the area.
>Free. (Employing a peculiar strategy)

Factoring your environment into attacks and/or giving suggestions (like trying to lure your enemy into a house or specific area) will be your measure of customization/options. Mentioning specific spells won't be possible because, despite the merging, Gardy body remains a bit of a mystery. Hence these vague options for defense, Arawn will be operating on instincts.

Finally, most questions about the Magritew and fighting in the Red World can be answered out of character because (for the time being) Arawn know them.

We'll continue tomorrow. I will do my best to get a good night of sleep
>>
Medium is a careful attack, meant to react against your enemy. Think of it as an offensive-defensive.

The only reason I am not going with Hard is because I am worried about our attack accidentally landing on Vilma's soul somehow and damaging it further. First of all, we need to separate it from Vilma.
>>
>>3156776

>Attack.[Medium].

I messed up the command I wanted to input. Hopefully this looks more clear.
>>
>>3156618
So we have temporary access to all of Gardy's knowledge and fighting techniques? Nice. Ok, first, where to aim? We need to separate this creature from Vilma safely, quickly, and cleanly so it doesn't damage her soul out of spite and hunger.

Second, does combat here more or less function as it does in normal space (e.g. hitting things really hard hurts them badly)? Do we want its corpse for some ritual to restore Vilma or do we want to gib and incinerate the fucker with extreme prejudice? Can it attack our friends from this plane or will it need to cross the veil to threaten them? What effect will an attack have on a victim if it originates here?

Damnit man, that's twice in a row you've outdone my worst case scenario. I didn't think they were gonna use a friggin' soul eating eldritch horror on the Lich!
>>
>>3157028
>Ok, first, where to aim?
The head.

>Second, does combat here more or less function as it does in normal space (e.g. hitting things really hard hurts them badly)?

The major difference is that Red World battles can become a genuine clash of wills when sentient beings fight. The Magritew function differently though, so here hitting it hard is really your only option, else it'll eat you up.

>Do we want its corpse for some ritual to restore Vilma or do we want to gib and incinerate the fucker with extreme prejudice?

You'll have to decide that on your own. Gardy knows these creatures and how to kill them (there's no magic trick here, you gotta hit it till its dead) but he doesn't know how they work in elaborate rituals.

>Can it attack our friends from this plane or will it need to cross the veil to threaten them?

All of your friends are awake, their souls are at their strongest. Getting to close to them will hurt the creature and yourself. The Magritew can only feed on people who are asleep, wandering Red World entities and people ''marked'' or, as in Vilma case, infected. It'll need to cross the veil to harm your friends (besides Vilma)

>What effect will an attack have on a victim if it originates here?

They'll feel a general sense of fatigue.

Be sure to thank your friendly white vixen for this gift!
>>
>>3157075
So if we punch it in its smug evil face it'll detatch from Vilma without dealing additional damage to her? Is there even a quick yet safe way to detach the entity from Vilma? Speaking of damage, can we morph our arms and what type is most effective? Do we wanna punch, slash, stab, or (if we can) shoot it with something?

I hope Gardy's working on a way to do the thanking. True combat's no good but a solid punch or an exercise of the metallic pimp hand upon that ho would be a good thanks for this.
>>
>>3157198
>So if we punch it in its smug evil face it'll detatch from Vilma without dealing additional damage to her?

No certainty.

>Is there even a quick yet safe way to detach the entity from Vilma?
None that Arawn/Gardy can think of. Fo yourself anyway.

>Speaking of damage, can we morph our arms and what type is most effective? Do we wanna punch, slash, stab, or (if we can) shoot it with something?

Arawn isn't experienced enough to do any of that consciously. This is your first Joining!
>>
>>3157223
Ok then, our own safety be damned, is there a way to detach it that ensures Vilma is unharmed? Besides offering ourselves up as a replacement meal of course, we can't protect anyone if our own soul gets nom'd. Also...

>ripping it off Vilma shouldn't be too difficult, only without a host will it began to truly lash out and grow vulnerable
Is this what our instincts are telling us to do? Just walk right on up to the thing and start pulling it off Vilma?
>>
>>3157268
>Is this what our instincts are telling us to do? Just walk right on up to the thing and start pulling it off Vilma?

You'll have to decide gauge for yourself here. A medium/Hard attack will be enough to attempt that.

Essentially your choice can go like that

>Hard Attack [Aim to dislodge the creature out of Vilma soul]

Commiting will need 1d20
>>
>>3157340
I'll sleep on it with one last question. If anything medium or above has a chance to dislodge the damn thing how high does the roll have to be and do we have to roll for all attack options? I'd assume we do but just making sure.
>>
>>3157358
>if anything medium or above has a chance to dislodge the damn thing how high does the roll have to be and do we have to roll for all attack options?

I'd rather not give the dc, I'm still tweaking the encounter but not all options will need a roll.

A good custom/strategy will give positive modifiers and I might also allow a little leeway of success here and there, say if you guys apply the right amount of strength in an attack then I could make it an auto-success.

Failing the dc might not be an auto-loss. Your Joining with Gardy made you much more powerful.
>>
aaAAA it took me WAY TOO DAMN long to catch up with this quest, I'm downright *ashamed*!

Damn high-tension situations and my voting anxiety!

Alright, so before we can think about slaying the Magritev it has to be separated from Vilmas soul.
I'm *almost* regretting voting on the Soul Arm spell in the past, we could really use a cutting instrument in the form of a weapon spell...

IF we were to rip off the Magritev's tendrils off of Vilma, could it simply re-attach itself to her soul on the spot? I'm thinking we need to weaken/stun this thing before getting rid of it for good.

>>3147598
''You know Martha, if I could, I'd kiss you.'' Hopefully, that muzzle will mask your cheeky grin.
Goddammit Arawn, this why you get teased/bullied about your romantic interests.
I wonder... could our elf be a natural ladies man deep down?
>>
>>3157706
>IF we were to rip off the Magritev's tendrils off of Vilma, could it simply re-attach itself to her soul on the spot? I'm thinking we need to weaken/stun this thing before getting rid of it for good.

It could reattach itself because of Vilma naturally weak soul, the process is rather time-consuming though so if it were to attempt it, you'd get a free attack.

Arawn is trying.
>>
Can we still use Arawn's basic spells? Like the soul arm? If so, is it modified by Gardy's influence in some way?

...Well, my bet is that your answer will be: "I can't answer that, you'll have to see for yourselves" , but even then, it's an interesting idea. Perhaps we can catch it offguard if ourinvisible arms just start pulling it away from the lich out of nowhere.

If the answer is "you can't use your own spells while fused with Gardy", I will maintain the medium force physical attack.

If we can try, I will gladly vote for a

>Hard Attack [*Use soul arms* to dislodge the creature out of Vilma soul, from a safer distance]
>>
>>3157391
It seems the damned thing has gotten complacent. As ya said, it is far above the average red world entity. It has seen monstrosities, been attacked, shrugged off even the strongest of attacks from said entities, then just nom'd the offender because why not. After all, it was hungry and the entities turned out to be crunchy and good with soul ketchup that's all around I'd imagine. That's why there's no wandering entities, Magritew already ate em' and gave a big belch and thanked everyone for the appetizer. Now, sadly, on to the main course, Lich on the cob.

Ergo, it's not expecting us to be capable of *really* hurting it. We're new, it's suspicious, but (if it's a battle freak type) it ain't getting its hopes up. What option best represents a good fast and strong punch to its face? I wanna shock it with an attack that hurts it but is fast enough to perhaps catch it completely off guard. We are, I think, the first thing its had to a worthy opponent. I don't want it to know that until it's good and hurt and hopefully ripped off Vilma.

Y'know, I want it to say "OH SHIT!" as it receives our opening attack. Just like a certain so called ultimate lifeform did.
>>
>>3158119
>Can we still use Arawn's basic spells?
Not in this case, no.

>>3158139
>What option best represents a good fast and strong punch to its face?

That'd be a medium strike.

Seem like we've got plenty of votes going that way. I'll try to update during my usual 4 pm.
>>
Hm. We're basically having a stare-off with the Magritev. All we need is more squinting and an odd tumbleweed(or whatever the Red World equivalent is if has those) to have a cowboy stand-off.

>>3158581
I'll support a Medium Strike to the face. It let's us test the waters a bit, see how the Magritev reacts and behaves.

>>3158622

My health has been taking a bit of a downward turn lately. I think it'll be better for me to close the thread here before the boss fight to avoid leaving too much suspense. I'm thinking of restarting around Friday, that'll be enough days to shake off this small malaise I've got. We've made lots of good progress here, now we need to see if you guys have what it takes to fight without support!

Here's my usual end of thread tune.

That's a big loss I can't wait to make her take. She really is going that extra mile to make us suffer.

The Magritew doesn't look impressive but don't be fooled, it's a very dangerous and tenacious creature.

>>3158848
Thank for being here.

Were fast approaching the end of act 1 and I've had some rather big project for the quest alongside planning a potential new quest, I've been thinking of running a smaller story (probably a max of 10 threads) running concurrently with the timeline of Arawn adventure to show a few more important events...

Would you guys be open with potentially stepping into a new protagonist shoe for a little while or should we stick with Arawn 100%?

Low-key warning that you can, in fact, die here.

Also, I'm surprised we've survived this long without serious injury to either us or the girls. It ain't like you're not trying to kill us.

I've trained you well, although it's true I've mostly been aiming at the girls instead of Arawn himself. Vilma whole situation before her duel, Teruko being nearly trampled in the forest, the really ''big'' moment was the investigation of the Mamonos slaves and subsequently saving Klesiah days earlier than I anticipated.

Seriously getting your knight early paid off BIG time since she saved Vilma here.

Though danger hasn't been a constant thing, we've had plenty of time to train, talk and getting to know people. You guys did well when it counted.

I'm not trying anything.
>>
I wouldn't mind trying out different protagonists temporarily. But, with the guarantee that we would be going back to Arawn eventually. That, or alternating protagonists every couple of threads could work with me, too.
>>
>>3159023
Nah, you're always trying something. I like that though, gives me a challenge. Still though, this fucker sounds worthy of an intro. Like: "The ancient soul devouring horror! Ravenous, ethereal, an almost forgotten nightmare of antiquity" or something along those lines.

That you went for the girls also makes sense. After all, death is an end to suffering. If we die, our suffering ends. If *they* die, oh boy, we will suffer quite a lot. Our suffering sustains you after all so there's that.

How *do* people arrive and leave? Portals to the desired destination? Is there a fixed entry point on the other side with "border control", so to speak? I remember Daiyu mentioning that the blue oni Harkon 'entered legally' so I'm going to assume that some sort of identification is needed.

>>3158877

...oh dear.
Let's assume we fuck up badly enough for Arawn to die again.
Would that mean the end of the quest as a whole, or would we take control of a completely new character/one of Arawn's friends? Or have you planned that out yet?

>>3159304
...Why you gotta ask me such hard questions, man? Well, personally I'm leaning towards Daiyu. But there's still time, my opinion may yet shift.
It helps that I'm not very picky when it comes to the question of "best girl"

>>3158847
You know, it's entirely possible this Magritev is the Javed family's pet and they've simply bartered with White for the knowledge to acquire and use one.
Besides, I'm certain White's reaction to losing the Magritev would be something like "Aw boo. Oh well, plenty of virgins out in the world~!"

Having him die would be rather... It would throw a wrench in my plans, that's putting it mildly. Your relationship with Gardy is paying up big time here, you guys would need to be quite incompetent to outright die (running away is also an option) but the option -is- there.

Provided that memory is maintained that is. We've got a good amount of "HP" from these past weeks. Unless Gardy's memories are in the pool too, then we truly will have to be utter incompetents to die here. Wait, we wrote that down in the diary right? Man, the anon who suggested that deserves a medal.

Diary is a background thing that Arawn continually take care of

I was under the impression that VIlma was subjected to a memory altering ritual, and that the Magritev just made it's effects stick way longer than they should have.

Still, you're right in that diary was a very good thing to have.

>>3159641
Oh we will. Aside from the wing-touching she owes us, we've gotta train her to get used to our magic. I'm half-way convinced she was hesitant to try that with us earlier because of the handholding involved but it's most likely something of a more personal issue on her end.
We should see about that shopping trip with Elina and Sieglinde when we have time.

I can get behind this notion. She's gonna throw the technicality in our face next time we meet I bet. After all, though she did promise not to directly target our friends herself so long as we're a "good boy" (whatever that means) it seems like she was gunning for the lich before we even popped out of the throne.

The instant we did she went: "Oh yes, oh *god* yes! What a happy bonus, my favorite toy isn't broken after all! Oh, he's even getting close to her. He's befriended her now? Ahhhh, this is going perfectly!" (maniacal cackling)

For any other fluffy or exotic bit, yes. But hers, hers are not at all enjoyable. They are Bad fluff, for they are attached to Bad Fluffy. We will not enjoy being molested by them, touching them, or anything like that but we will endure for the sake of our precious friends.

Plus, breaking down and just indulging in her fluffiness would probably cause Gardy to begin to regret this whole fusion business. At the very least, we'd lose some respect and synchronicity, and that isn't worth even the fluffiest of tails.

Well, it is a little, but it's the who the fluffiness belongs to here. Tui has fluffy tails, and she's a Good Fluffy. We should try to find a way to touch them somehow. Ame might be amenable as well, but she's kinda taken. I know I'd be possessive of my wife's fluffiness, and it'd be enjoying Ama's fluff by proxy. I wonder if other Siggy's aware of that somewhat uncomfortable fact.
