You are Jeremiah Sol , a newly transferred student to Erebus academy in the elven city state of Nileth. You are doing your best to settle in balancing between your studies, your social life and managing your ever-growing fiances.

You watched your elven friend, Vlan , refusing to duel his arrogant and drunk cousin as it was planned earlier. The White stag had revealed her true identity as a somewhat kind heart gang leader to you after an attempt on both of your lives by an unknown assailant.

Seven years later, the industrial park of Nileth is now open after a radiation disaster which claimed many lives. Finally, in an unexpected turn of event, you went with Miss Gallel -your art teacher- to the aquarium.

You ate one of your last two meat loaves for breakfast. It was a heavy meal for certain but it will fill you for the rest of the day.

"Mornin' Jay." Ronk, Your orc friend, yawned with bits of sleep still lingering in his eyes "Why does it have to be so cold?"

"You still haven't seen anything, remember last years? 15 dead hobo in a single season. It is going to be much, much worse." said a half-elf while reading the daily Nileth . More were pouring in to have their daily dose of hot drinks. The pixie decided to continue her last 30 minutes or so of studying elsewhere.

"Yeah..." Ronk had something to say at the tip of his tongue but chose otherwise, he made a hot cup of coco and left the lounge without saying anything. This is probably has to do with Ronk's dad, a drunken shell of man always in debt...begging, lying and probably stealing his way to repay cruel, opportunistic men. Hell, even some hobos have more integrity than him.

You got dressed in no time, ready to have one last free bus ride before the new month rolls in. Out of curiosity you asked the bus driver for the ticket price. As a non elf, you are almost paying twice or even thrice as much as the normal. Being in the bottom of the social status didn't help either since most of the districts are not accessible on your own unless you have a better social status/ he had the following to say:

Anywhere in Uri / Weskiel /Orfiel] = 3 pons
Anywhere in Icheal heights/ Va'lashe = 6 pons
Anywhere in Klavekth = 12 pons

Uri --- Weskiel =10 pons
Uri --- Orfiel = 15 pons
Uri --- Icheal heights = 20 pons
Uri --- Va'lashe = 25 pons
Uri --- Kalvekth = 30 pons

Monthly bronze ticket (for Uri only) = 160
Monthly Silver ticket (Uri-Kalvekth-Orfiel-Weskiel ) = 600 pons
Monthly Golden ticket (Anywhere but the heart of Nileth) = 1500 pons

Your question got a laugh out of him. "You new here? No one is poor for public transportation. There hasn't been a single bus there in over 30 years."

"What about the employees? janitors? do they have cars too?" you asked sarcastically. He must be messing with you.

The driver slowed down at the nearest bus stop before shifting his attention back to you " The Silver line handles them in fancy taxis. Get ready to shell out a two, three hundred for a ride. The high council likes to their home district all clean and pristine. " It kind of make sense in a twisted way, they always want to keep a near perfect image of the heart of Nileth. No bulky buses to congest to traffic, the working class must be suffering from everything there; exorbitant prices and being surrounded by colossal arrogant pricks.

Come to think of it, there was a special lane across the streets of Emieldeth. You noticed that while you were with Vlan. Oh well.

________

You left the bus after being stuck in traffic for +10 minutes, you were near the academy anyways. As you were getting closer, a familiar red muscle car slowed down from the other side. It honked twice for you to come over.

"Hop inside, your girlfriend has a little present for you."

"Sis!" " You can see Yvaal fuming in anger inside the car. At least a couple of passer-bys have heard Alvas. What present though? is she talking about Kolamon's little plan?

You reluctantly entered the car and sat in the front seat so you can give space for Yvaal.

>This isn't really necessary, i was five minutes away from the academy.

"Come on now, stop being so uptight and enjoy your life. I got a good eye, you kn-"

"Stop it." Alvas stopped pushing her buttons. You admit, it was slightly entertaining to see little miss reporter more reddish than a fresh tomato.

"Have fun , kids. If you know what i mean hehe..." She dropped you off right at the gate.

"I hate you too, byeee." Yvaal put on the fakest of smiles almost slamming the car door. "Sorry for that, I got up late and she offered me a ride..."

"It's cool," you replied "So, you got the petition paper? Kolamon and me to lesser extent are counting on you."

"Yep," Her face brightened with determination "I got one busy weekend. We'll talk more about it in during the break."

"Great," Just as you were about to reach the stairs, She grabbed you firmly from your arm "Just where do you think you are going?"

Yvaal pointed at the two prefects selling Erebus weekly near the courtyard statue " Support the our newspaper. You... won't find any filthy Olithe article this time." She had a malicious grin from ear to ear.

"Me? Nothing. I got nothing to do with her, promise. It is her own fault she couldn't keep up with the rest of us. Still didn't make it to front page but that's fine, The road to the page one is never easy. Now go..."

"Really?"

"Now." You could have just easily walked away or said no but you decided to go along; You kind of owe Yvaal for her supposed help.

You came back to her with less pons and a newspaper in your backpack. She gave you a thumbs up for your valiant efforts to support the news.

____

"Dude, the industrial park is finally opened."

"Do you think it will be back? after all these years?"

"I hope so. My skills are rusty though."

The small dent on your desk was getting on your nerves; you can't write on any thin paper without the risk of an unwanted tiny hole. Does it justify asking a janitor to replace your desk? probably not. Kolamon had tons of words to say to Yvaal and you but she told him to wait for the break as well.

Shiwe didn't look happy, the whole thing with Gulpy and its premature growth is concerning. You have faith Mr. Ludwill, your botany teacher won't punish you for something you didn't do. There is also the whole thing with Shiwe's uncle. It must gnaws the back of her mind on several occasions, you still believe in his innocence.... He was executed unjustly on a crime he did not commit.

Vlan was busy going through a small book, it was called 'trial of something'... you elven is still pretty weak. Mr. Clementine and his boys were calling him names behind his back like a bunch of children. He did not mind them as he should.

Terreth, the prefect responsible for your class, had a message for the class "Miss Liyah is currently busy with the principal. Do whatever you want but don't make too much noise." Your Math teacher wasn't on good terms with Mr. Jaglioth. This has the potential to be problematic.

A sudden thud on your desk startled you when you were checking your phone "What the?"

"Surprise!" Yvaal stood in front of you with a Va'lashe leather-covered Notebook "I bought you this with the little change left from the 150 pons. Thought you could use one of these you organize your life better. It has blank pages, tables and other neat stuff on the back. My dad bought me one, still using it to this day."

>Cute but i want my money back
>You bought one for Kolamon too?

"Yeah, where am i supposed to go for high quality prints? You'll see." The whole theme of monopolization in the city state wasn't to your liking or a small/independent businesses.

"Thanks, Yvaal."

"No problem, Jeremiah. I like this pseudo-revolutionary movement. You boys need a devious, overthinking brain for this operation. That's where i fill in." You saved your breathe from convincing her otherwise. Once she got her mind on something, it is all over. No doubt she is in it for some sort of personal gain.

The Daikiriel prefect was rightfully getting bored, whatever your Math teacher has tangled herself in, it is taking a whole lot of time. Might as well start writing in the journal.

Don't we have some upcoming tests?
>>
>>3103095
An hour later, Miss Liyah had showed up. She did look less messy than the usual "I am in shitty mood today so shut it. No one is lagging behind in my class."

She did it again compressing today's lesson in 45 minutes ignoring lots of questions in the process. It will do, you hope.

Mr. Quinith was waiting outside the class. Your Human history teacher enjoyed a cup of tea while other students settled down "We done now? Our next lesson has many foreign human and Orc names , some are hard on even elven tongues. I had to consult an old friend of mine so i won't misspell something by accident."

"The Jian-Ho region. Anyone knows anything about it?" He asked already expecting silence. Vlan , the brightest boy in the class, didn't answer from some reason.

"Of course..." Mr. Quinith sighed. He continued to provide further information in the next two hours. Supposedly, it was one the hardest regions to 'conquer' with only human and orc natives well adjusted to their mountainous environment. A human king by the name of Luogn Nantasru (The herald of green) was famously known for uniting all orc and human clans against elven supremacy. It was shamefully known to elves as the Fairdele M'olfaraal Or the flopping fish campaign; many soldiers had died from exhaustion, falls from high elevations and the most dangerous wildlife there. It did set a new standards for the soldiers afterwards.

Many argue about the diplomatic brilliance of the king who , after almost 42 years of constant 'fighting' that pretty lead to nothing, signed the Silk-sky treaty out of strength and respect to the long eared foes not the other way around. His actions led to the total autonomy of the region till this day with no city state governing it.

Today, the Jian-Ho region is an industrial beast . Strong and self Sufficient enough to go toe-to-toe with other elven giants. There had been an attempt to reconquer the region once more half a decade ago. This brief war ended quickly when other city states intervened (Excluding Nileth who remained neutral). The offenders were sanctioned and had to pay hefty reparations for years.

"Again, I am reminding you of an upcoming exam at the end of the month . It will be the final exam on human history before changing to Orc history . Don't take it lightly."

He had finished about 10 minutes earlier. What a strange system, why didn't they put all the histories in one subject with one exam instead of cutting it like that? Weird.

It wasn't very interesting at the first glance, more drug awareness talk and some interview with a Lokk player who had graduated from here 5 years ago. The alluring search for the 5000 pon treasure still continues with little success.

However, there was an article about a food company which is interested in performing some field testing with an experimental product, if you want to apply, you should talk to Mr. Kluxiv.

The industrial park was discussed in details, Moruthar 'Pipeman' Goran was brought up many times in the article. A janitor turned serial-killer who had over 20 victims or more. All of them were wives or children of men working in Orfiel. He was about to be caught when the disaster struck seven years ago. Nileth police department said that it will continue the search for his presumable irradiated corpse in the endless rusty bowels of abandoned factories , sewers and infrastructures once more. A picture of an ugly waste of skin was at the bottom of the article. No wonder he turned to a killer with that face.

Is it possible for untouched places in the park even after these years? he could have been one of the many unidentified corpses pulled out in the aftermath but if that was the case then why he is brought up again? They are probably filling some space in the newspaper, can't have a blank spot.

Mr. Ludwill had Miss Shalquoir with him, both were very, very excited with a fearsome surprise.

"Don't get too close or she'll bit your fingers off, only joking!" She was holding a small pot with a strange kind of carnivorous plant. Red twirling leaves and a gaping maw brimmed with actual razor sharp teeth. It was almost as if it was self aware.

The Albino orc was so excited about this, most of the class were disgusted by its slithering black tongue licking the air every couple of seconds "Old friend Jaglioth has given me the permission to show you one of my most valuable prizes... the Vitae fossorulata or the life sapper in all of her glory. A live demonstration is always my preferred method of teaching. "

The dryad gently stroke its stalk which changed its colours in a blink, Your biology teacher offer it a small piece of meat "A marvelous biological wonder with 11% similar genetic sequence to most dyrads. An offshoot stunt in evolution, secluded for millions of years on a small island...a perfect entry in next class' topic."

The strange plant squirmed from the daylight, Mr Ludwill closed the curtain for it "Anyone brave enough to make contact? One in a lifetime experience, children."

Few raised their hands actually, Kolamon lower his halfway through awkwardly, the slits on his face started to pulsate in an erratic pattern. You were the first one on the chopping block, Shiwe gave you a thumbs up while Yvaal had her camera phone at the ready.

"Ah, Jeremiah. Come closer," Mr. Ludwill put the pot on the deck "The key to shatter any hostile intent is patience, approach her too quickly and she will consider your a charging predator...do it too slowly and she will lose intrest."

"Take this," Miss Shalquoir gave you a peace offering "No sudden moves, let her lick your hand. It is her method of communication."

Your careful approach to the plant has netted you its respect and some slight affection after it slurped the piece of meat from your hand. More did the same thing, despite its appearance, the life sapper was pretty docile. You would almost believe those teeth were for show. Not a single accident had occurred, thankfully. Mr. Ludwill had reminded the students to bring their plants tomorrow, it was almost a month already. Time flies so fast.

You went to the bathroom to wash your hands, the slimely drool of the plant was starting to harden. Mr. Quinith had just flushed the toilet, he came from the stall and washed his hands.

"Perfect timing." he exclaimed "I was going to ask the prefect of your class but you'll suffice. Can you inform your friends and fellows about a meeting with a faux of an historian called Tyrann Coshletter next Thursday? from 9 to 12 in the morning. I have no clue why our fine principal accepted the dryad's offer in the first place...the man is spouting lies and made up facts. 'Second Nilethian human purge' what a pile of rubbish..." He expressed his distaste for the dryad.

>I will, sir.

"Thank you, I sincerely wish for the clown to have no audience." The teacher left the bathroom in a hurry without drying his hands. True, Mr Qunitih was verbal about it but he is a angel compared to Mr. Tharanel ...or Miss Yuragos.

_____

Kolamon was already speaking with Yvaal by the time you caught up with them in the courtyard "Zeremiah, come!"

"Here is the man of the hour," The elf handled you the petition flyer. Miss reporter did her homework it seemed, Both the petition's design and its actual content were top notch, She took quotes from famous figures and wrote down the demands in a formal and mature way. There were some links as well to verify some of the points she mentioned. There was no personal attack on Miss Yuragos herself which of itself was a great bonus.

"What do you think?" Yvaal was anticipating your response.

"Thanks!" She pulled out more flyers from her backpack. There were at least enough flyers for every student in the academy if not more "The second part of our master plan is in the works. We obviously need everyone in our year to sign the petition."

"I am sure the elves here would sign in right away."

"Come on, really?? I am on your side. " Yeah, that was uncalled for.

Slightly annoyed, She continued "I can see some ways we can get this done: We can put one on the bulletin board and let anyone come to us passively-"

"And let shitheads like Hioelke tear it up? no way."

"Let me finish," She squinted her eyes "Less noise can be good for our cause. We can actively go for each class to ask for a sign up...buuut you two are awful with representation so it will fall on me to do most of the job." Yvaal wasn't wrong, she can have her way everyone was a somewhat charismatic elven girl. There are exceptions to this rule of course.

"But...constant asking... Valkimon-Kiyah , lots of buzz. Many may not like it." Kolamon had a point too; shoving the petition down everyone's throat can be annoying.

"Which is why we have the nuclear option : Asking for a permission to distribute them during the break in a small stand or something next to Waxwell for more exposure. " It was a more direct approach but still within passive territories; they come to you not the other way around. Getting a permission from the principal might not be an easy task.

You were the first to voice your opinion

"What?" He was visibly confused.

"The principal doesn't like your kind. You spoke of you and Monamon like some criminals on your first day , man. I am with Yvaal on this one." You stated it rather bluntly.

"Don't you worry, you can still support us behind the curtains. It will take a lot of convincing from our side to get it." Yvaal assured him "I will first arrange a meeting with the principal; we want him on his best mood, fellow revolutionaries."

"You two are awfully getting close to each other, " You turned back to see an elf with a short jet black hair and one hell of a resting bitch face, the black rimmed glasses emphasized her overall disgust.

"Whats the matter , Olithe? Couldn't finishyour article? You had a full week for it , babe" Yvaal gave her an equally obnoxious smile.

"You are real cute. You know that? Keep it up, maybe one day you will be half as good me. Now.... " her voice trailed off "...what do we have here? A newshound , A drug dispenser , a round ear and lots paper...i wonder, I wonder. Is this my next article before me?"

"You seriously trying to stop me, drug boy? I can scream at the top of lung right now. Sexually harassing pixie? That will leave a bad record. Hands. off."

Yvaal had to step in, yanking the flyer out of his hand and separating the two "You wanna play dirty? Fine by me, but don't involve anyone else."

"Is everything alright?" Lian Shi came closer, still unsure about what was going on.

"We are fine, Just having a friendly bet." It was amazing who Olithe could change her altitude in a blink of an eye. Yvaal played along to keep the prefect away.

The class showed different reactions to the exam paper, few were optimistic. Vlan remained confident, only dropping the book he was reading at the last moment. Monamon was extremely anxious, her brother was just the same to a lesser degree.

Wouldn't hurt to ask and it's literally better than asking him about his cousin.

"The trials of the celestial man. Written by an elven philosopher hundreds of years ago. It focuses on exploring one's true self among other light spiritual themes."

"Cool, I am not that much of a reader though."

"It is fine. Each to his own. " He shifted the subject " I heard Hioelke got a strike after groping your E.M.A teacher... I'll admit, not having him in our class brings peace to my mind. Rude, Vulgar and desperate." said Vlan monotonously.

"Desperate? for what?"

"Pons obviously," he stated "Orfiel is a paradise reopened for illegal activities hidden away from the watchful eyes of the police. I mean, the whole place is one third the size of the city stay. I'll give 2-3 years for all the factories to be functional again, it will be a very slow process."

You didn't agree with Vlan, Mr. Clementine is a certified asshole but he wouldn't cross the law with his delicate situation, right?

The exam was finally over, you saw a lot of perturbed faces. Monamon didn't do too good by the looks of it. Everyone was tired after a long day, Mr. Kluxiv went easy on the class with a small demonstration on various stitching techniques. He left the more important bits next time.

You took your last free bus ride back to the pods. The place was quieter than the usual, not many were around it seemed. Your grumbling stomach commanded you to cook something. Miss Lilim , your guardian , has taught you how to make meat loaves though frankly you were starting to get sick from eating the same bulky meal. Your mind is begging for some variety.

You still had unprepared tender treats and vegetables in the refrigerator buut you haven't cooked them before. The brownsticks sounds easier on paper; just wrap the tender meat in honey and fry it according to miss Lilim. The High Kromm stew is another story...

Miss Lilim was too busy for you at the moment, there was an orc who agreed to help you out with the brownsticks. You prepared all of your tender treats, it was more of a snack then an actual meal but hey, it tastes great. You gave the guy who helped you two on the house.

"Gimme!" As if the smell itself spawned Cassandra from the unknown, she yanked one right away without asking " I like it!" She twirled out of the kitchen as fast as she appeared. You on the other hand sat in the garden with a subject to study.

Human history sounds like the right thing to study at the moment with the exam and all. You burned through the pages for three hours or so, you checked your phone, It was 8:26 PM. The night was bitter and cold, you had to wear socks to stay warm. Miss Stag did buy you some quality stuff and you are thankful for it.

"Yo Jay, Got a sec?" Ronk finally showed up, he has been cooped up inside his pod ever since he came back.

"Sure, what is it?" you asked , distant siren echoing in the square.

"I...." his tongue got knotted, "I need some pons... a hundred sounds good, ill pay you back in a few days. Miss EL can't know about this."

>Is this about your dad again?
>i am in a really tight spot right. Sorry Ronk

"You are the man!" his face brightened up "Gotta spend money to earn some."

"Yeah, but what for?"

"I'll tell ya later." Not a second later, Miss Lilim barged out of her room visibly stressed "Everyone, get inside now!"

"You Okay Mis-" Your guardian didn't have time for anything. She rounded up everyone inside the lounge, frantically calling others working/having fun on the phone.

All the confusion was gone when you watched the live broadcast "...suspects have evaded the second road block, The pursuit continues. Our latest report confirms 12 Injuries , 3 of them are critical. No further casualties."

"...This unnamed group of terrorists have successfully kidnapped an elven official who was involved in the execution of the orc Gragash Ogke Kotreem. Citizens are advised to stay indoors for their safety."

"This is getting too tiresome...solving violence with violence isn't going to fix anything." an elf expressed his thoughts. For the first time, you saw Miss Lilim cocking her handgun, cold sweat trailing on her temple. You can hear more and more sirens in the neighborhood. The live feed showed an armored SUV being chased by at least 20 police cars with two helicopters in the skies.
