You sell your various magic paraphenalia to Semira for 300 talons and 2750 sigloi (A exotic currency whose value you're unsure of.)
Semira: "Izliccitn, wp ubidhiidh nsihi tim hyilowith mocc vi yciehir vp."
You say goodbye to her and proceed on your search for the spell source amongst the grassy hills. A process of wandering until Salaman senses you're getting closer or further away. After a few seconds of walking it becomes apparent the woman is following you.
Ulric: "Uh lady, are you... coming with us?"
Salaman: "She might be after the same Remove Curse spell as us. Only one of us can take it and then it will take a few feeks to recharge. We should probably just shoo her off."
Semira: "O vicoibi mi'di nsi hewi nsotf hiedlsotf gud. Ugh! O Ieklean dieccp hsuacr ciedt nu hyiej."
Salaman: "We don't understand your ooga booga elementalist talk lady."
Semira: *glares* "Msen oh 'ooga booga'? Merlin wi wejotf gat ug?"

>"It's fine she can tag along."
>"Don't be rude Salaman."
>"She's not an abjurer. I doubt she's looking for a spell she is unable to use."
>"Yeah I don't want to risk her getting the spell, I'll try and get her to leave."
>"Yeah I don't want this strange woman following us around."

You're not particularly enthused on the idea of having this strange woman following you around. But just in case she is in need of the remove curse you try to communicate with her again.

>"can you understand what we are saying? Are you cursed to talk like a weird way?"
Ulric: "Oh I hadn't thought of that."
Semira: "O'w huddp, O pua rut'n attrihnetr"
She retrieves a scroll from her belongings and unfolds it.
Semira: "O'cc nsoh nsotf kahn ahi."
Semira uses the scroll to cast Comprehend Languages.
Semira: "Ujep. Pua wi msen edi ndpotf nu nicc?"

(She now has the magical ability to understand all languages but not the ability to speak them. You may now be able to ask her simple questions.)

>"Could you please stop following us?"
>"Stop following us"
>"Why are you following us?"
>"Where are you from?"
>"Would you like to accompany us on our side quest?"
>"Are you looking for the Remove Curse spell source?"
>"Are you cursed to not understand Ieklean?"
>"What's the exchange rate between sigloi and talons!"
>"You look very pretty."
>"Hello my name is Christof and these are my friends Ulric, and Salaman."
>"Thanks for your help against those monsters earlier."

>"What's the exchange rate between sigloi and talons!"
She crouches draws in the dirt with her finger: 1 -> 2.75. (Most human languages share the draconic alphabet and numbers.)
>"Do you want us for something?"
(You point to yourself)
Semira shakes her head.
>"Do you need help? Are you cursed?"
(You point to her)
She gestures "no".
Semira: "Tu."
>"Something else?"
(You shrug)
She scratches her head contemplatively.
>"Can you point to help us understand you?"
She shrugs.
>"Why are you following us? Do you need the spell?"
(You point in the vague direction of where we're heading)
She appears to have a moment of epiphany, she whips out a note book and shows it to you. It contains crude sketches and descriptions of various magic items and constructs. Including a few spell sources.
>"Ah I think I understand."

>I'm sorry but you can't accompany us.

With a friendly smile... under our helmet. Perhaps we could remove it in a dashing manner and flash a friendly smile?
I dunno. Just don't want to be a dick.

>"You can come with us."
Semira smiles "Muttridgac, cin'h sier ug."
You take off your helmet and give a dashing smile.
>"but i get 1st dibs on the curse stone"
(Charisma success) She smiles back and gives you a thumbs up.

You spend the rest of the day searching and avoiding wnadering monsters you spy in the distance. A little after the suns goes down you start getting ready to stop and make camp and continue your search in the morning.
Ulric: "Look over there! A blue light."
He points to a cave under a hill and sure enough at the mouth of the cave lie some glowing blue crystals.
Salaman: "Glowing crystals: A sign there's lots of magic in the area. I can sense a good amount of power, our target must be inside that cave."

You approach the cave. It's quite spacious and seems to be filled with the crystals, illuminating the entire area.
>"Come on let's see what's inside."

You never trained yourself to sense magic. But still, you feel a certain sense of empowerment stepping into the cave. The magic in the air is definitely potent (+20 to all spell casting attempts). A short walk later you reach the back of the cave. A wall at the back has been smoothed out and has had writing chiseled in it. The text on the wall reads "Remove Curse Spell, by Iqora the Pink 229 AST" followed by magical formula. Clearly this inscription is the spell source. You open your spell book to a blank page and hold it upright. Magical power flows from the writing on the wall and words begin to appear in your spell book. You now have the remove curse spell.

You try to say "Alright gang mission accomplished, let's get back to Leefside and pick up Alina" but when you open your mouth no sounds comes out. Ulric begins to speak but you hear nothing. Ulric looks confused. Salaman starts talking with a look of panic but no sound occurs. People start encroaching you from the shadows.
Ten bandits all inexplicably equiped with high grade golden armour and weapons emerge and block the way out. This shouldn't be possible, there's light all over the cave and nothing to hide behind. How did so many people manage to hide? One of them walks up to you holding a sign that reads "Stand and deliver, your money or your live(s)."

Without sound you can't use your magic or activate scrolls. Salaman and probably Semira are probably unable to fight under these conditions. The bandit with the sign smirks at you smugly. Five of the ten enemies are blocking the way out. You are aware the common silence spell has a limited radius and may cease to affect you if you manage to move away but the bandits have you cornered.

What do?

Yeaaaah shit. I remember what happened the last time we got taken by bandits so I don't want to risk it. However there is something odd about this: why are 10 bandits wearing GOLD equipment bothering with this petty cave? This is way too below them.
Something is up, does anybody have any ideas?
>>
>>3070686
>Give the faggots all your hard earned money
dont give them our equipment, I feel like we can always swing back in and get our gold back or scout them with our crystal ball. Good chance this is an illusion but you never know.

>However there is something odd about this: why are 10 bandits wearing GOLD equipment bothering with this petty cave? This is way too below them.
>Something is up, does anybody have any ideas?
Indeed.

>>3070686
>This shouldn't be possible, there's light all over the cave and nothing to hide behind. How did so many people manage to hide?
Two likely possiblities:
1. None of them are real.
Illusionist cast silence, then illusions from outside the silenced area.
The danger is negligible.
I disbelieve the illusion.

2. Some of them are real.
Illusionist cast silence, then illusions from outside the silenced area to support real bandits.
The danger is minimal.
Charge the ones between you and the exit, fight to flee!

Third, less likely possiblity:
1. Many, if not all of them are real.
Mage cast silence, the enemies could be illusions or summons based on local power source.
The danger is a serious threat.
We don't have to out run them. We just have to outrun Semira.

Basically, we should charge the exit and if we encounter major opposition that we can't safely flee, roll over and offer our soft under bellies.

tl;dr: Doubt so Run, if can't, then Fight then Surrender.

Supporting, time to run
>>
>>3070776
Alternatively,
>>Give the faggots SOME of your hard earned money
Chucking a chunk of talons before running might be the distraction we need.

Standing still and dropping all our gold is a chump move. Giving up after token resistance is less so.

Some or all of these guys could be illusions. But there could be real warriors mixed in with the illusions making it dangerous to try and disbelieve them. You hatch a plan. You'll give them some of your money then try to break through their blockade and escape. Hopefully your allies will react fast enough.
You retrieve your talons and give 200 to the sign holder. His eyes light up at the sum despite it being less than a 3rd of your talons.
You suddenly dash towards the enemies in your path and smash one with your hammer. The enemy unrealistically slides backwards in response to your attack: this one is definitely an illusion. You runs straight through it. The remaining 4 enemies real or not hack at you as you break past them. you take 15 damage.

The dice rolls of this post determine if Ulric, Salaman and Semira respectively break out as well. A 4 or higher is needed.

I was worried this would happen, Crisoff only ever thinks about himself.
>>
>>3070905
That's far from true.
And I feel he wouldn't leave Salaman behind. But he's not a coward willing to lose all advantage in fear of some harm happening to some member of his team.

I still say we should bolt far enough away to be able to talk, then negotiate them releasing Salaman, keeping the gold, and no harm befalling them: They should take the win... or else.

You manage to break through with Semira and Ulric close behind you. Salaman reacts too slowly and is cut off.
Sign holder bandit glares at you and makes a neck cutting gesture with his thumb while pointing to Salaman.
The enemies remain where they are, with some of them holding their weapons to Salaman.
From the faint sounds you hear you realise you've exited the silence area of effect and can now use your magic.
Semira comes to the same realisation and begins casting something.
Semira: "Christof. Fire dihonnetli Salaman."
Ulric remains idle ready to defend.

It's possible to use your Dispel Magic to remove an illusion but you are penalised depending on how little you know about it.

>Dispel Magic on the silence freeing Salaman's spell casting ability.
>Dispel Magic on the silence then try to parlay with the bandits.
>Dispel Magic on the illusion(s)?

I disagree, Christoff is very selfish when his pride is on the line. I remember when Alina got beat up because Christoff couldn't accept defeat. Even if all these guys were 100% real I bet he would have tried the same thing before giving them his gold.

>>Dispel Magic on the silence then try to parlay with the bandits. (Also freeing Salaman's spell casting ability.)
I'd try to signal him somehow, maybe by calling him Salamite. But I just hope he knows enough to what's smart.

Negotiate from a position of strength. Those who hide behind illusions do so because they lack the strength for open combat.
That said, it also works. If they let Salamite go, they can keep the gold and have a good day. There is no need for further blood.

>Christoff is very selfish when his pride is on the line.
A bit.

>I remember when Alina got beat up because Christoff couldn't accept defeat.
The bandit camp was a bad show, altogether.

>Even if all these guys were 100% real I bet he would have tried the same thing before giving them his gold.
You make whatever dumb bets you want. Christof has grown, is not just prideful and selfish, and has shown concern for his teammates and an understanding that he isn't a god-like invulnerable protagonist mc, but a man.
>>
>>3070972
I never thought of it as pride. He always seemed like the kind of dude determined to accomplish his mission, sometimes gambling with his friends' well being if need be
Being responsible for singlehandedly ending a drought for all your people must put pressure on a man

With the empowered magic in the air you easily cast dispel magic removing the silence.
Trident Bandit: "Uh Carter, I think they removed the silence."
Sign Bandit: "H-Hey! stop casting or the blue guy gets it!"
>"Let Salamite go and we wont attack you any more."
Before the criminal can respond Semira finishes her spell and shoots a full blown fireball right into them. Time appears to slow. The dull bluish illumination of the crystals is replaced by the fireball's light. The projectile sails towards the bandits. Salaman desperately tries to cast something and the three unique looking bandits flinch.

That's all for this session. Thanks for playing. Seeker Quest will continue in a week.

Meep!

Well, hopefully Salaman was summoning a Salamite or something that he can hide behind. But damn.
I'd suggest protection from fire but it's a bit late for that.
Perhaps we should lob Immunity to Weapons at Sal and hope he's not a cinder when the smoke clears?

Heh.

Why does this woman keep talking at us as if we can understand here?
>>
>>3071732
She tries to convey some meaning through tone and gestures and sometimes is just talking to herself.
The last thing she said
>Semira: "Christof. Fire dihohnetli Salaman."
She actually used the word fire from Christof's language. ('dihohnetli' means 'resistance'). At the time she said it, she was casting a spell and Christof knew she was an elementalist who can use fire magic which provided some context to the sentence.
