A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

A lone ship floats silently in space. The Nova Runner lies helpless with black scorch marks peppered across its hull, a reminder of the recent battle it, and namely you, have escaped. The interior fares no better. Red emergency lights blink on and off serving as the only form of illumination in the dark and revealing the exposed, sparking cables. You don’t know how the ship got its name and asking its previous owner, an old Rodian by the name of Jov Xre, revealed that he had bought the ship under the same name. However, any attempts to change it on the ship’s computer would result in it bugging out and reverting back to Nova Runner.

Such contemplations would have to wait as the sharp stinging in your temple brings you back to your current predicament. Further investigation of the wound reveals it to be shallow sticky with your blood. Thoughts of old clichés and stories of amnesia quickly prompt you to perform a check on your memory and mental faculties.

Evening Anons and welcome to my first quest! Hopefully it’ll be a good one. Because I’m in college and my health has been pretty shit lately, I apologize in advance if I miss voting times or if my sessions are sporadic. I’ll try to get a session in once per though. The quest takes place a few years after Revenge of the Sith and will be using the old Expanded Universe cannon or at least I’ll try to use it because there’s a fuck load of it.

Rolls will be 1d100 best of three to keep it simple and voting periods will be 10 -15 mintues. I’ll try to make a habit of letting you guys know when I gotta stop posting for a while. Anyways, sorry for this massive text dump. Let's get started.

>Fuck it. It's two votes for that then.
You are Dia Han, a Zabrak bounty hunter. Reminding yourself in this clinical tone helps you calm down a bit and clear your mind. Standing up makes your legs wobble a bit and your head swim but you like to think you've been through worse.

Standing up you look around the cockpit and find it to be a wreck. Many of the computers and terminals are either blue screened, blaring warnings or completely shorted out and destroyed. There is cabling all over the place as you remember frantically trying to jury rig repairs in the middle of a fire fight and it all comes back to you.

You were in pursuit of a corrupt politician from the Mid Rim but quickly discovered that he had friends in Black Sun, a cartel well known for smuggling and arms trafficking. They didn't take too kindly to you chasing one of their bigger customers. A fire fight in space quickly ensued but you weren't stupid enough to think you could win this one. Quickly attempting to make a jump to hyper space, you were hit by well placed shot to your engine and possible hyperdrive causing you to buck forward and smack head first into the console.

Where you are now is anyone's guess but at least you didn't die.

>What do you do?
>Investigate the consoles to see where the hell you are.
>Check your ship status. See what's online and what's not.

Checking to see what's working it is then. Writing.
>>
Before even looking at where you were, you think it's best to figure out how screwed you are. Doesn't matter if you were near the best systems out there if you couldn't even move your ship.

Slipping into your pilot's seat you breathe a sigh of relief as you see your main computer managed to escape any damage. The monitor is a bit dim but you hope that it's due to low power rather than a dying computer. A routine diagnostic check marks your computer with a dozen red popups and warning prompts. Most of them complaining about minor electrical appliances and devices no longer receiving power. Finally you get to the heart of the matter and check the major systems failures and you feel both of your hearts sink.
>Engine Failure. Repairs Required Immediately
>Hyperdrive Failure. Repairs Required Immediately
>Reactor Error. Shutting Down and Reverting to Backup Power. Back up power boot successful. You have 72 hours of back up energy remaining with this rate of consumption.

Your engines aren't turning on and even if they could you have no way to enable hyperdrive for longer travel. What's worse it seems like your ship is no longer generating it's own power and is now relying on emergency reserves. The situation is beginning to give you a headache but your combat training and Zabrak biology allow you to push that to the back of your mind as you formulate a plan.

What do you do now?
>Leave the cockpit and go see what you can fix. You've never made these kinds of repairs but damned if you don't give it you best shot. (State what system you want to attempt to repair first.)

You quickly tap on your keyboard and have your ship calculate you location while you still can. You hope you haven't flung yourself into the unknown region. You remember the news of the Republic, back when it was still known as the Republic, funding an entire expedition full of Jedi to explore there only to never be heard from again.

Luckily, it seems like your ship initiated safety protocols to bring you out of hyperspace once the engines started failing before completely shutting down. From what you can tell, the nearest planet is known as Hypori. However there are two other locations even closer by. A space station called T-37I and some kind of mining station that bears the insignia of a company known as Subtext Mining.

You have 72 hours of energy left. What do you want to do next?
>Leave the cockpit and go see what you can fix. You've never made these kinds of repairs but damned if you don't give it you best shot. (State what system you want to attempt to repair first.)

Primary power.
If we can get power back, we can last a lot longer because we don't have to worry about life support shutting down on us.

You decide to play it safe while repairing. If you can't get the job done maybe someone might come to pick you up. Hypori is on the star charts so hopefully they have space travel and hopefully they'll pass by to pick up your signal.

Having to rely on someone else to come and save you isn't a thought you particularly enjoy. You're used to working alone, sometimes to a fault, but you've never been pig headed enough to think you can do everything. Better to not start now of all times. Typing the commands to set up the SOS beacon brings up a following message.

>SOS beacon setup complete. With current power consumption, reserve power is estimated to last 64 hours. Please enter Captain credentials to initiate.

You wince. 8 whole hours chewed up by having the distress beacon set up. Nova Runner is showing her age, and you resolve to save up for a more efficient back up power system in the future...assuming you don't find any nice guns you'd like to purchase.

Not wanting to waste any more of your precious time you dig out a rusty set of tools from a nearby container. They seem almost foreign to you but you've done enough repairs on speeders, and around the ship that you know the basics of how each tool works so you're not completely dead in the water. Focusing again to push away the now mounting pain in your head you wrench open the cockpit's doors and head to the engine room and towards the power generator.

>I'll need you guys to roll me 1d100 to assess the damage.
>>
Oh fuck I forgot to mention you did put in your credentials and set up the beacon. Guess trying to be immersive bit me in the ass. My bad guys.

You don't even have to reach the engine room before the smell of burnt cables and smoke hits your nose. Quickly grabbing your spare fire extinguisher, you run in and put out the remaining fires. Because the floor of your ship is metal the flames were contained to wiring and broken panels.

It doesn't take you long to figure out what happened during your time knocked out or at least what you can approximate what occurred. You've seen this happen on speeders when a driver tries to push the engine too far and have the speeder's under belly shielding flare up from a big hit. In essence when your ship attempted to divert power to the hyper-drive, keep shields up, and push the engines to make the jump after a direct hit, the poor power generator just couldn't take it and over loaded. Rather than explode, it decided to pump out power at max out put to every system on board and overloaded everything causing it to short out.

You know you won't be able to completely repair this. Not with the basic tools on hand. But you can guess that can cut through wires and basically jury rig new wiring to get the power generator up and running basically hot wiring your own ship.

Doing this won't grant you 100% efficiency but it will at least keep life support going.

What do you want to do?
>Hot wire your ship. (Will get you up to 50% efficiency depending on how well you roll)

You wonder if turning on the power with cobbled together wiring is a good idea before checking the other systems. Deciding that you still have time before committing to anything you give the other two major systems in the room a once over.

Looking over the engine, you can kind of figure out what this and that is. After at all it's basically like a speeder but bigger right? The engine is badly burned and you have to move a lot of burned circuitry to assess the damage. It looks like the Force is favoring you this day because many of the broken circuit boards and wires can be harvested from other parts of the ship. However, unlike your power generator, you think you can get your engine back to full capacity, allowing you land in atmosphere and disembark from stations.

The hyper-drive however, leaves you completely stumped. You've never even looked at it with scrutiny before. That's droid shit and, as far as your headache was concerned, you weren't a droid. But you think you can at least try to replace wiring and circuit boards like the engine. That might get you a small jump. Maybe.

Your inspection has taken you 3 hours, leaving you with 61 hours of power left. What do you plan to do now?

You run your fingers through your hair and push against your horns in slight frustration. Figuring that you better get your hands dirty before giving up completely, you leave the engine room and head towards the center of the ship. The center of the ship contains various seats and a tables serving as a lounge or relaxation space. A luxury for such a small ship. Digging around you find your back pack laying under a seat. A few moments later you find your blaster rifle tucked behind another chair. It looks like your gear is mostly intact. You also take the time to cut a few wires and remove a few circuit boards, wincing every time you cut off parts of your ship to keep it running. Once you finished, you hold your head as pain lances through your head much stronger than before. You spend a few moments steadying your breathing before thinking of what to do next.

>96 (Resounding Success!)

You grit your teeth in pain but force yourself to keep composed. The red emergency lights seem to be a bit brighter and agitate your eyes slightly but you have no time to be wallowing in pain. If you give in to your pain who knows how long it would take to recompose yourself? That's time you don't have.

Steadying yourself, you pull your flash light from your pack and quickly make your way back to the engine room. With your newfound illumination you set about hot wiring your ship. You cut cables, remove circuitry, and slowly hack away at the burned interior of your power generator. The work is slow, slower than you expected due to your head aches flaring up every time you have to turn on your mini plasma cutter and micro welder to cut and replace the electronics with those you salvaged from the lounge. The wire work is much easier as it requires only a simply pair of wire cutters and electrical tape.

By the time you finished your eyes are watering and your forehead is soaked in sweat. It seems like the dancing lights that you see when you blink or look away from bright illumination stay longer than usual. Before you do anything however you stand back and revel at your handy work. It's another mess of cables but God damn it, it's your mess of cables.

You make your way as fast as you can to the cockpit and hesitate. What if you misplaced a board? What if you didn't wire everything correctly? Pushing those worries aside you punch in the ships reboot protocols. With a triumphant roar from both you and your ship, everything flares back to life! Lights flare back on at full blast, monitors reboot, and you can hear the oxygen recyclers hum at full blast again.

Unfortunately, the sudden blast of bright light sends you reeling in pain as everything goes white for a moment but you grin through it. Your pilot's monitor announces:
>Power Generator back online. Reverting to main power source. Warning: Power Generation at 50% efficiency. Please stop at the nearest maintenance shop for check up.

To add insult to injury, your stomach begins to growl.

Congratulations, you managed to fix your life support issue! What do you want to do next?

You rub your temples. It doesn't help with the pain but you like to think it does. When that doesn't help you rub your eyes hoping that it will get rid of the bright spots. It helps marginally but you know that you're not getting anywhere just massaging your head. Luckily you have a first aid kit in your bag.

Your steps are unsteady now that the heat of the moment is gone and you no longer have anything to occupy your mind to push away the pain. Rummaging a bit you retrieve a small metal box with a red cross on it. You could have sworn it was larger but you guess credits must have been low when you had to restock on field supplies.

Walking to the bathroom, you examine yourself in the duraglass mirror. You think you have a concussion. At least, from what you heard concussions were like it seems similar. Your pupils are even slightly bigger than they should be. Unfortunately you don't really know how to treat one beyond just popping a few painkillers and hoping for the best.

The meds, coupled with an empty stomach, work their way into your system quickly and the pain is subdued to a dull throb. Annoying but not crippling. Lumbering to the rest area you slump into a seat. Your body feels exhausted. Damn Black Sun, damn that politician, and damn that Twi'lek who gave you the job.

Your pain has been dealt with the best way you know how but you feel tired. What next?

Sleep. You need it. You want it and so you decide to have it. You forgo your bed in the captains quarters and just lay across the row of chairs. You slowly succumb to your fatigue as everything slowly fades away to darkness...

>Meanwhile
The freighter ship, Endeavor, pops out of hyperspace and back into reality. Having made a shipment to the Mid Rim, it was returning back its facility for resupply.

Trefran "Trey" Stridom sat bored in the co-pilot's seat as he had been trying to stack his sabacc deck through out the flight. He hated Mid Rim runs. They had the long hyper space jumps that Core World runs had but none of the high class, beautiful women that Core planets such as Coruscant had. Nor did they Mid Rim planets even have decent drinks. At least not any of the Imperial stations they delivered to did.

His captain, Jana Lahh, did not share his sentiment. While most Twi'leks were stereotyped as seductresses and flirts, she was quite the opposite with her pristine uniform and clean haircut.

"Trey. If I told you once, I told you a million times. Keep your eyes on the damn scanners after we leave hyper space. If we get caught in a pirate ambush because of your lazy ass, I swear that pirates are gonna be the least of your worries before we die." Jana snaps in frustration. She didn't hate Trey. He was a damn good co-pilot. He just had a problem focusing when it didn't involve women or card games. Trey, on the other hand, merely laughed it off. He had been on the receiving end of the captain's frustration for 3 long years and it was starting to grow on him.

"Relax cap. I got it all under control." He assures as he gives a quick glance to the ship's scanners. "See? All clea- wait...The fuck?"

Jana's lekku, the tentacle like appendages Twi'lek had for hair, flicked in anger. "I'm warning you..." She growls.

"No, captain. Check it out. It's a ship. Looks like another freighter or passenger ship from the looks of it." Trey announces confused as he points out the scanner results. "It looks pretty dinged up. Barely has any power running through it and all it has on is an SOS signal."

Jana purses her lips. She didn't like that. Trashed freighters don't just float in the middle of the Outer Rim unless there were pirates involved.

"What do we do cap? Think we should leave it? Not any of our business." Trey asks.

Jana frowns. The smart thing to do was to just leave it an head to the safety of station. Worst case senario it was a trap set up by pirates to lure unsuspecting Samaritans to their doom. But she couldn't shake the familiar feeling of being left abandoned on a doomed vessel.

"No." She says after a long thought. "We'll check it out. I'll bring us in for a scan to see if there's any survivors in there. If there isn't any we'll just be on our way."

Trey shrugs. "You're the boss." He mutters as he quickly taps on computer to adjust scans and all the while on the trashed ship. A lone Zabrak lay fast asleep.

Die hard it is. You're more tolerant to pain even by Zabrak standards. A good choice for a bounty hunter. As a heads up, I'm not feeling too well atm but I still want to get in a bit more game.

Your snores echo through out the rest area of your ship, The Nova Runner. You had spent the last 3 or four hours running around trying to keep your life support going and your headaches in check. Finally after managing to get your main power generator going again, you decided that the best course of action was to find the softest chair to lay in and go right to sleep.

You're not sure how long you slept before you hear your comlink ping with a transmission from the cockpit at the edge of your perception.

What do you do?
>Ignore the ping for now and go to the pilot's computer to see who is attempting to contact you.
>Answer the ping. It could finally be the rescue you've been waiting for you.

You quickly sit up only to be rewarded with your heard starting to swim and ache. Taking a few moments to keep yourself together you activate your comlink and receive the following message.

"This is Captain Jana Lahh of the ship Endeavor. If there is any survivors please respond. Otherwise we will tow your ship." You manage to hear a dismissive snort from somewhere in the background. You guess it's probably in response to how stupid it was to announce that you'd tow someone's ship if they weren't alive to respond.

Shaking your head, and once again making it swim, at how ridiculous it was you respond with...
>"This is Captain Dia Han of the ship Nova Runner. I am the only crew and I'm fine but I could use some help with repairs."
>"Uhh...please don't tow my ship. I kinda need it."
>"Hearing, you loud and clear Captain. Mind giving me a hand? I'm kinda stuck."

Twitter usually helps to alert people when you're running

Being polite but no uptight it is. Also, I'd have to set up a twitter then. Thing is I kinda run this quest between classes so you'd be getting tweets from me every few hours or so. Not sure if people would like that. But I can give it a good and if it's too much then anons can unfollow or whatever.

Fuck me those errors in that sentence. Alright, slowing down my typing or else I'm gonna sound more retarded than I already am.

You scratch your head a bit puzzled. You weren't expecting someone so...rigorous about protocols out here in the Outer Rim. Stuck up was a better term but you figure that since they might be your only hope then you might as well be pleasant.

"Hearing, you loud and clear Captain. Mind giving me a hand? I'm kinda stuck." You respond. In return you hear the same snort though this time its more of stifled laughter than that of derision. After a bit silence, you get a proper response from Captain Jana.

"Understood. Are you the captain of this ship? We'll need-" She begins before a male voice interrupts.

"Captain please. If we continue all this protocol speak, we'll all run out of life support." The man can be heard louder as he speaks up. "Hey listen, we can't connect our ship to yours and bring you aboard. We're not equipped for that and no offense but I don't think your old bucket can handle it. We can tow you along to our mining station with our tractor beam and work something out. That good? It'll take a few days but we can get you there safe and sound."

You think about it. They don't seem to be like the type of people who would be leading you to a trap and you did see a mining station on your map when you double checked your coordinates.
Turning on your coms you reply with,
>"Sounds good to me. I'll sit tight and wait it out."
>"What do you mean, 'work something out?'"
>"No, actually can you just send someone out here to pick me up?"
>"Hold on! What do you mean by bucket?!"

Having them tow you while still in your ship is a good a plan as any. You have plenty of things to do to keep you busy.
"Sounds good to m-" Wait...did they just call your ship a bucket?!

"Hold on! What do you mean by bucket?!" You shout into the comlink. The Nova Runner maybe old but it ain't no bucket! This ship has saved your ass more times than you can count and your current predicament is only more proof of that.

"Listen here you little shit..." You start but are cut off by the male on the other ship.

"Oh uhh...bzzt...man we seem to be losing contact...bzzt...We'll try and contact bbzt...later...bye!" He says sheepishly with every fake buzz. "Jeez, I think I made her mad." He whispers loudly.

"Trey...your com is still on."

"Oh shit!"

And with that your left fuming in silence. You have a few days to kill before you reach the mining station. What does Dia like to do in her spare time?
>Play games on her compad. Shooting people in real life is fun but doing it in games is just as good.
>Read bad romance novels. Everyone says they're cheesy and bad but you secretly like them. They tend to make you blush.
>Play card games. You've always been a gambling girl. Maybe that's why you always press your luck during jobs.
>Nothing. You hate fun. It's a waste of time.
>(Pick one of the above but choose to do something else. You'll have a chance to relax some other time.)

It isn't often that you have time to yourself let alone having someone drive you to your destination. Riding the triumph of having both fixed your own power situation and having your own SOS save you, you decide that it's high time to celebrate. Once you're on the station you can get to work on the broken systems with proper tools.

You quickly dash to the mini fridge you have installed and rummage around. All your drinks and frozen dinners are shaken and thrown about but are intact. Pulling out some citrus flavored soda and a frozen mini pizza, you get to work on fixing a meal.

Once the pizza was cooking and you had your drink in a cup with a curly straw, you flop down on the cush sofa and pull out your secret stash of romance novels. Even knowing that you're the sole inhabitant of the ship, you still take the time to look around you for anyone peeking. Can never be to careful to maintain your tough bounty hunter cred. Soon enough however, you find yourself blushing, a bit of a mean feat as your skin is already red, as you read your current book On the wings of love as your ship is pulled to your next destination and you to your next adventure.

That's all for tonight guys. Sorry if it was a bit short. On the upside, here's my twitter which I barely know how to use! https://twitter.com/nova_qm

I'll start up a new thread next session. Thanks for playing!
