The day humanity took to the stars was a day of hope. The Earth had become inhospitable, and it was time to find a new planet to reside. We rallied behind a man who had opened up the universe to us, a new Emperor to lead humanity into the vast expanse of space. All possibilities were opened that day. The stars didn't look any bigger, but instead looked so much brighter. With countless fleets at our side, and a desire in our heart, we held hands and took that first step together into the great unknown. All of humanities petty squabbles had come to an end. Now, we were one force with one common goal. Home. The day that will live on in every history book.

Centuries have passed, and that peace lives only in history. The last Emperor is gone, and the search for a fully habitable planet continues. The Unity of humanity is broken, torn apart by anger and differences in philosophy. Three main fleets served as the new banners, the new Kingdoms in the Stars.

Camelot, the regal and militaristic, rallied behind their Queen Julia Porter.

Athens, the diplomatic and innovative, rallied behind their President Apollo.

Shinto, the traditional and battle-hungry, rallied behind their Chieftain Sun Boros.

Unaffiliated ships are known as the Han. Most who choose to fly in the dangers of open space with no alliance to a fleet do so in control of the criminal underbelly of humanity, operating outside of man's law.

This is the future we have afforded ourselves. The stars appear larger than they did that day, but with time they have dulled.

“Fancy bumping into you guys like... uhh, this.”

Sun Chen lets out a nervous laugh as he stand in front of a crashed fighter, shortly after it crashed into the magnet line train. Luckily for you, the crash was enough to stop the magnet train in it's tracks, and save you from a fight with a man who had you trapped and dead to rights. Unluckily... there's not really much way down from this train, remaining stationary on the elevated rails above the rest of the fighting... and the jet Chen and Mao just crashed through here... well...

“It's hopeless,” you reply, looking through the inner circuitry of the ship's cockpit. “There's no fixing this thing.”

“Oh come on!” Mao protests. “Aren't you supposed to be some kinda genius mechanic?!”

You nod. “I am. That's how bad it is. You two completely trashed this thing.”

“Chen trashed it!” Mao points the finger at her brother. “I was just a helpless passenger!”

Dot shakes her head. “Well now we're just stuck up here. How are we supposed to get to the battle without falling to our deaths?”

Krista ponders. “Matt-Matt! You could use your vines to swing around and break your fall!”

“And for the rest of you?” you ask. “I can't really just carry all of you on my back...”

A brief pause ensues... before Mao raises her hand. “I can!”

You raise an eyebrow. “Huh?”

“I can carry you all on my back,” Sun Mao explains. “Oh... did I never tell you about my Biochip?”

“Can't say that you have, no.”

Mao chuckles. “Oh, well mine's simple!”

Name: Sun Mao
Biochip Class: BUNNY GABRIEL

Mao's biochip greatly increases the strength in the base of her legs, allowing her to both carry great amount of weight without injury, and also leap incredible heights and lengths in a single bound.

POWER: B
SPEED: B
DURABILITY: D
PRECISION: C
RANGE: E
POTENTIAL: D

“Are... are you sure you can do that?” Archie mutters. “I mean, there's five of us. Physically, you can't possibly carry us all on your backs at once. Biochips are powerful and strange, but you-”

You note Mao's eye twitching as she stares at Archie, bursting with anger. “I'm what, huh?! Small?! A shrimp?! Not strong enough?! I'm Sun Mao, dammit!”

“H-hey, wait!” Archie protests, but it's too late for him, as the smaller Mao tosses him over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes. “Everyone hop on, I'll show this nerd what's what!”

Uhh... okay. You climb onto the pile of bodies, holding on tight to Archie's coat for grip, as Mao squats in prep. “Hold on tight!” she exclaims, but she's more than a little impatient, giving little time to prepare before leaping up through the hole in the train. You fly through the air, holding on for dear life as you come falling down and landing on a nearby rooftop.

Mao stands up straight, sliding you all off her back and falling into a pile before her. She grins brightly and cuts a confident pose, as you look around at the battle going on around you. You need to find Bao Tao... with his power of magnetism, coupled with Shaman Tao's power which seems to involve explosions... the two could be a truly deadly combination if they're allowed to be reunited.

“So, how was that?” a cheerful and smirking Mao asks.

>I didn't think someone so small could be so strong...

"Hey!" Archie protests. "Why are you singling me out? I wasn't insulting-"

"Yeah!" Mao pumps her fist. "Maybe next time you'll think twice before insulting my height!"

"I wasn't!"

Sun Chen rises to his feet as he looks around. He scans the surroundings of the battle. "So, uhh... who are we looking for?"

"Man named Bao Tao," Dot explains. "He carries a staff, very eccentric..."

"What's his power?" Chen asks.

Dot pauses. "Well... it's kinda tough to explain. Let's just say... magnets."

"Magnets?"

"Magnets."

Chen nods. "Okay... I don't know anything about magnets. This could be tricky."

"Right..." you agree. "And worse, our numbers might prove a disadvantage when fighting-wait, you don't know anything about magnets?"

Chen shrugs. "I didn't get much schooling, you know?"

You sigh. "Okay, just when you feel like you're being pulled or pushed by an invisible force, then you know you've found him."

"Oh, like the wind!" Mao smiles. "I get it! Magnets are like the wind! Or gravity!"

"No..." you shake your head.

"Look, I'll give you both a physics lesson on the way," Archie explains. "Where do we go from here, Matt?"

>We know Bao's destination. He's still heading for the conference floor. We need to head him off at the pass before he unites with his brother.

Mao lets out a groan. "You mean where that train was heading? But that's faaaaaaar!"

"But you're fast!" Krista points out. "Leaping through the air like that, it was so fun, yep yep! Let's do it again, and catch that Bao while we're at it!"

"You think my power is cool?" Sun Mao's face lights up. "Wow! Usually people ignore mine in favour of my sibling who have fancier abilities..."

"No way, your's is super cool!" Krista smiles, as the two excitedly put their hands together and squeal with delight.

You sigh. "Making friends can wait. Mao, we need you to take us to that conference floor to cut off Bao. You're the only one of us who can outpace him with your ability. Luckily with the train down he's likely moving very slow."

"Okay, okay," Mao waves her hands. "Everybody, back on!"

You endure the clunky awkwardness of piling onto the back of the small Sun Mao as she springs back into the air, clearing a great distance with a single leap. She bounces back up again, crossing the battlefield with ease. "See, this is easy!" Mao exclaims. "And together there's no way we... hold on tight back there."

"I... can't..." Archie notes. "It's like I'm being... pushed."

It's then you notice it. Seems you've caught up with Bao rather quickly... as you notice Mao glowing blue, and a large 2 appearing over her head. She's been marked. Not only that, but marked as the kind that repels all others. As the rest of you begin glow either red or green, you find yourselves being blasted away through sheer magnetic force, flying off of Mao and flying through the air. You just about manage to break your fall, snagging a vine against a rooftop and swinging... but you aren't able to control your trajectory, swinging with full force right into a figure on the ground.

"Oh... sorry..." you mutter as you pull your head up, clutching it in pain. "Sorry I came right out of the sky there, uhh..."

"It's you."

The grimacing face of Athen's top scientist, the legendary Stardust Genius Metis sits before you. She has a slight blush in regards to the situation as she clears her throat and speak. "I... I would appreciate it if you removed yourself from pinning me down like this."

You blush in turn as you move away from Metis, recalling your vines. "Uh... sorry..."

Metis' attention isn't focused on you, however. The second she notices the vines, her attention snaps towards them, he eyes wide and following them up until they retract into your body. "That... that power..."

>Best you don't ask how I got it.

>Oh, uhh... I don't know what happened! Something in me just triggered! What could this mysterious new ability be?!

Metis stares at you, unamused. "You... you're mocking me, right?"

You continue trying to play dumb, clutching your hand and posing dramatically. "Plants... from my hand? How could it be? Unless... when my life was placed in danger, I, a regular smuggler, awakened my family's ancient mystical technique. My father warned me of such a thing, but I always thought it was a myth-OW!"

Metis is quick to slap your right across the back of the head. "You imbecile! You really think someone like me would buy that?!"

"You're right, sorry..." you nod, as you stand up. "I apologise for insulting your intelligence, and I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive a poor smuggler boy like me. Anyway, with that water under the bridge, I'm gonna be on my way."

"Wait!" Metis yells. "You can't just walk off when-"

"Sorry!" you call back as you begin briskly walking away. "I've got very important business to attend to, don't have the time to-"

Metis picks up a small rock and tosses it in your direction. You move your head to the side to avoid it while looking back at her. "Rock-throwing? Really? Rude."

"I was aiming for your head," Metis notes. "I knew you'd dodge."

You turn your head quickly to see the rock you avoided hitting a switch in the wall of the corridor you're in, activating the sliding gate which comes cashing down before you... trapping you in with a pissed-off looking Metis.

"Thief."

Metis' words are soaked in venom. She seemed like a harmless somewhat awkward nerd in the past, but with her stare she's more than capable of striking a figure intimidating enough to place utter fear in your heart. "You're a thief. That Biochip is the WONDER OF THE WORLD class... only one exists in the universe. Less than one, really. I had only made a prototype. I wasn't even sure if it worked."

Metis corners you against the gate, her angry eyes not breaking away from yours. "It was stolen. I searched far and wide in the hopes of getting it back... and the man who stole it comes crashing onto me from out of the sky. Here I was, thinking I was unlucky. But you're the unlucky one here..."

>Look, I'll tell you everything, but we've got to focus on this battle. If you let me go, I promise I'll explain everything later.

>I'm not a thief! I just bought the thing! It was a birthday gift!

"A birthday gift...?" Metis' eye twitches. "You honestly expect me to believe that?"

"Hey, that one's true!" you protest.

Metis corners you further. You don't really have much space to breathe here... "Oh yeah?" She asks. "And just who did you buy it off?"

"Doesn't really matter, the seller's dead now," you explain. "Okay... I know that makes it sound even shadier, but... actually, just saying it made me release it's exactly as shady as it sounds."

Metis pokes you hard in the ribs. "You degenerate thief! If we were in Athen's territory, I'd have the legal authority to arrest you right now!"

You pause. "Technically this is an Athen's ship, I think in the eyes of the law-wait, ignore me! Don't arrest me!"

Metis shakes her head. "Damn you... if we weren't in the midst of battle... when this is all cleared up, I'll be taking you into custody. I know you're close with Marco Shao, but he's a good man. He would not pardon the crimes of someone like you."

"Someone like me?!" you respond. "Listen lady, you don't know who I am! Don't act like you know my story! The universe isn't so friendly to people who weren't born into riches and went to big fancy schools like you!"

"I didn't-" Metis begins to protest, before letting out a sigh. "Look, I'm letting you walk away for now while we deal with more important things. I'm probably foolish in trusting that you'll willingly hand yourself in after, but I have no choice."

"Good..." you reply. "Now let go of my wrist."

"I..." Metis mutters, confused. "I can't."

"What, am I that irresistible?" you joke.

"Shut up!" Metis barks. "I'm trying to move away but... but I'm stuck."

Oh no... you look down at Metis and... green hand, red wrist. And the aura begins to spread around the two of you until you're pulled and locked together closer.

"W-what is..." Metis mutters. "I see... I know this ability..."

"I thought I heard some of you scurrying around like rats..." Bao's face calls out as he appears before you. "Seems you've already locked yourself in, though. I figured that if you're so relentless to pursue me I'd have no choice but to eliminate you all now before returning to my brother. Don't worry, I'll speak wonderfully of your life to him. It'll be a very poetic eulogy."

As Bao speaks, a burst of flames comes flying in his direction, likely from an attack by Sun Chen. He leaps back, focused on the young dragon of Shinto, but you and Metis remain stuck in the range of 1-2-3 KID.

"That chip is extremely powerful," Metis points out. "No wonder the Tao's had the presence to lead a revolution of this size. Ugh... this is embarrassing... we may need to work together while trapped like this..."

>You've got a Biochip of your own, right? Please tell me your ability can counter this...

"Not in this position it can't..." Metis mutters. "We need a way to separate. But the only way to do that is to get out of his range..."

"So that Biochip power is... what?" you ask. "Lazers? Summoning giant monsters? Maybe you open your mouth and a giant cannon comes out?"

"I'll explain in a moment," Metis replies. "When your hand isn't locked into pushing against my rib."

"Sorry..." you mutter. "Wait, not sorry. I'm not in control and I also don't like you very much."

"Understandable."

You look around, and see a nook on a building before you that might be able to support your weight if you dragged along it. "Okay, hang on..." you mutter, as you summon your vines from each hand, catching a nook on each end of the alleyway. "We're about to become a slingshot here..."

You pull as hard as you can, dragging and launching yourself and Metis through the air of the alleyway... and out of the range of Bao's biochip. You break apart in mid-air, but you still end up falling onto Metis, your back painfully landing on her ribs. Damn, that smarts... probably even worse for her.

A winded Metis coughs and gasps. "I'm getting very sick of you falling on me... umm..."

"Matt," you respond. "Remember that name next time."

"Apologies, Matthew."

"And I've flown through the air enough times today," you respond. "I'm really starting to feel queasy... so what's this Biochip of yours?"

Metis picks herself up, lightly pushing you to the side as she dusts herself off. "Let me explain..."

Name: Metis
Biochip Class: STARDUST GENIUS

Metis' biochip allows her to instantly scan an analyse any area she can see. Increasing her brain wave functions by an incredible amount, Metis' mind can run calculations and solve problems faster than even the most powerful supercomputer. However, excessive use of this brain power can cause burn-out.

You shrug. "Whatever, I don't need a Biochip to be smart."

"N-neither do I!" Metis huffs. "Oh, whatever. If you don't need my help, how about you charge right in? I'm sure you smugglers are all gung-ho when it comes to battle, but there's a little more nuance to it! Strategy is the most important thing!"

"Okay..." Metis mutters. "Then we'll need to work together. Can I trust you?"

"For most things?" you ask. "No. For this? Yeah. What do you need me to do?"

Metis nods. "Just run into battle, that's all you have to do."

"R-really?" you ask. "Shouldn't I set up some kind of trickshot or something? Some bluff? Some ruse? Some gambit? A con?"

"Stop using synonyms," Metis replies "I've already worked out what to do. Follow my word when I give it, and I'll defeat Tao in mere seconds."

That's a lot of confidence... but you look in her face and see nothing but determination. She's not just talking a big game... she knows for sure. You may not like her very much... but that's a face you can trust in a fight.

"Okay," you nod, and you get moving. You run into battle, where you see many of your allies trapped and outright bouncing around due to the force of the magnetism. Bao is practically playing with them as he scribbles notes in his stupid little poetry book.

"Hey Bao!" you exclaim, as you summon some cactus spikes poking out of your body. "Forgetting someone?"

Bao quickly dodges your attack, as you find yourself glowing with a blue aura. He likely expect you to come after your friends to help them, but getting to close will only push them away. You don't dare verbalising that thought, as Bao will likely interpret that effect as some poetic metaphor for society and relationships or some crap.

You stand in place as Bao smirks. "You honestly think I would forget about your companion from earlier?" he notes. "I understand, you're waiting for her to ambush me with some special attack and then you work together to take me out? Well too bad... I know she's in range, and she's already blue. See how well you can co-ordinate if you can't get close."

"Exactly what I hoped..." Metis laughs to herself. "Now!"

Metis runs forward out of the alley, getting close enough for her aura to repel yours, launching you forward.

"NOW!" she exclaims. "Catch that awning to your right, use the momentum to swing yourself towards Archimedes and Dot Shao!"

"Not my last name but glad you did your research on me!" Dot points out.

You follow Metis' command, swinging your body towards Archie and Dot, repelling them both towards eachother and eventually clicking together along with Krista behind them.

"Now, swing the other way!" Metis commands.

You shoot more vines from your right hand this time, using the momentum to swing clockwise towards Sun Chen and Mao. Damn that Metis, you said you were sick of flying through the air... you're gonna barf. You connect Chen and Mao together while also being repelled back to the centre, before Bao has enough. "I don't know what you two are planning, but come here!"

Bao changes your colours to Red while he changes his hands to green, pulling you and Metis quickly towards him as he locks his hands in around your respective necks, choking you both. "You forgot I could just change your magnetic force, didn't you?" Bao smirks. "I bet that stopped whatever plan you had right in it's tracks."

"N-no..." Metis gasps out. "This is exactly what I calculated. Matthew, you notice it, right?"

Of course... you notice, but you doubt even Bao cares to. The vines glow with the same magnetic aura that you do... they're connected to you they're part of your biology... and they're reaching out across the battlefield. They're red... and each cluster on either side of the field has one marked with green that will drag the others in the cluster if pulled along... but pulled to where? Of course, all that bouncing around was calculated perfectly by Metis, set up all the pieces. They'll all be pulled into the centre... right into Bao.

With a smirk, you raise up your vines and pull them back, dragging everyone into the centre in the process at incredibly high speeds. Bao doesn't have time to react or turn off his power before he is sandwiched and crushed between five fast moving bodies. That's enough to knock any man out cold, and Bao is no exception.

As he collapses, the aura fades on all of you, and you're able to move freely. Damn, does that feel good.

Metis has a small proud smirk on her face as she speaks to you. "I told you I would handle him."

No doubt... so that's the power and efficiency of one of the top generals in the galaxy...

>I'm a big enough man to admit I'm impressed.
>But I'm not big enough to not think that I'm the one that did most of the work.

Rolling to break the tie.

>Have to admit, that was impressive. I owe you one.

"O-oh..." Metis mumbles to herself. "W-well, it's really no issue. I was simply doing what needed to be done in battle. I certainly didn't act as a favour to you or any of your allies. Believe me, once this battle is over, I will be speaking to Marco Shao and bringing you into custody. But first... I'll have to apprehend Bao Tao."

"Don't worry!" Krista remarks as she places her hand on the back of Bao's head, activating her biochip ability. "Sweet N' Sour will keep him asleep for a long time!"

Dot looks around. "Guys, I don't want to alarm you... but just because we took out Tao's right hand man doesn't mean this battle is over. We've still got plenty of Yellow Turbans swarming in on our location."

"Finding Shaman Tao will have to wait," Sun Chen notes. "We have to take care of the foot troops before we even have a chance of fighting our way to the boss."

"Stop talking like it's a hologame!" Mao scolds her brother.

"Sorry..." Chen mumbles.

Metis shakes her head. "Very well, back to battle we go. Matthew, you and your terraforming chip will have to wait until later."

"Wait, terraforming?!" you ask, but Metis has already run off back into battle. That woman...

You and the group scatter, and begin to fight off some lesser untrained soldiers. You ensure not to hurt anyone too seriously, mainly tripping them up with vines, and even the one time you need to use your blaster, you aimed for the guys foot... it hit his shin, but whatever. He's not gonna die.

As you move to the streets, you feel your arm being grabbed and you being pulled back behind a corner. "Dammit, what now?!" you exclaim, though you're surprised to see that it's Marco who has pulled you aside.

"Matt, good to see you're safe," Marco smiles. "However, I will ask for your assistance in a matter."

"Is that matter not dying on the battlefield?" you ask. "Cause I think we're all dealing with that one."

Marco shakes his head. "No... I think in the midst of this fighting, we can find our opportunity to approach Shaman Tao. I think... I think that if we reach him in a small number, we can convince him to have a peaceful talk. He's a well-intentioned man... perhaps it's not too late for a diplomatic solution. Before more blood is shed today, we can put a stop to this fighting without having to kill!"

"You honestly believe that's possible...?" you grunt. "You're not really that naive, are you?"

"Cousin..." Marco mutters. "I have hope. Without hope... what point is there?"

He really believes this, huh? "Well..." you mutter. "If things turn ugly, you need to be ready. What is your biochip power, anyway. Considering your position, I'm sure you've got a good one."

Marco shakes his head. "Cousin, that's exactly why I need you assistance... I don't have any power. My biochip has never worked."

"... What?!"

>Player Question
What do expect of this final encounter with Shaman Tao?
>>
Thanks for running Booker.
Negotiations will probably go south and a battle will follow. A shame because it looks like both Shaman and Marco are probably the most humanitarian leaders of all, not counting the suicide bombers.

Yeah, the talk is going to get fucked by a 3rd party and we'll be forced to fight Tao. Also Marco finds out his Biochip is the perfect counter to Tao's explosions when he implodes one of his blasts.
