SUMMARY: You are an Arcane scholar bound to entertain the divine of death and disease with your adventures/misadventures. Regain your freedom by completing the objective set by her grace.

Your task is not easy; two nations are fighting over a mysterious fruit of an ancient tree, You are to kill the commanders of each army: the Viper and the Hound.

Along the way, you rescued a woman of the north called Gunhild who seeks revenge from a certain goblin merchant who had wronged you in a previous encounter. Together, you join forces. The goblin had turned out to be a vessel for a red dragon who used the greenskin to attain certain ingredients to create a new dragon body via unholy rituals. With your companion, you defeated and consumed his marvelous soul.

Empowered with the power of youth, you pursue you main objective: To kill the viper and the hound

It was no one other than the sun's husk

One of the many agents of Lady death. Normally, a chosen one who has been granted the token of spite to act as a herald for the divine. They often sleep for centuries until awakened by a huge loss of life.

Mindless and Vacuous, they act as an imposing force claiming the lives of the diseased and the blighted. The Sun's husk rides its horse down the road in silence without noticing your or your sleeping companion.

A great sense of nausea bubbled up inside you the moment you met its rotting gaze. You collapsed on the ground surrounded by your own puke and blood.

You lost 20 health!

One of its many many rats hopped from its shoulder skipping towards you "Oh ho ho~! What you did expect to achieve? My husks are instruments of doom. I swear on my rotten heart i have nothing to do with it! They...eh, pop up on their own every now and then."

You glanced over the last shield, she was still drifting in her blissful sleep "You are welcome to try and kill it for a very special reward... or you can let it roam the land and weaken both sides. The blabbering followers of my brother will try to 'purge' him soon enough." The rat stood on its hind legs waving at you before crumbling into rotten bits.

The Sun's husk will move randomly throughout the map increase the weakness counter of the hound and the viper .

There is a chance for the Sun's husk to exhaust and replace the encounter he is currently at with The husk's mark encounter . This chance increases the longer he remains alive.

The road home

The continuous war has shredded the lives of many from both sides. It is not uncommon to see caravans of refugees seeking shelter with most trying to escape the conflict by going to Gullum's passage. Others who are more optimistic will attempt to survive long enough to reach Delenvale ; a large neutral elven city at far edge of this domain.

Both factions respect the ancient trading ties between them and the elves. While it is brimmed with resources, neither is willing to attack it for the time being.

You stopped with Gunhild to inspect the caravan. The sickly, mostly underfed guards gave you a wary eye but nothing more. The majority of them used to be farmers, blacksmiths and so on. They are doing what they can to protect the weak and the ill. You found a lot of children from both sides playing games across the camps, their smiles and laughter hide a horrible truth.

Almost all of them are orphans.

Such is the nature of war. It drives men mad, whole villages has been wiped out and yet it keeps on going. It is an inevitable for one of the many refugee caravans to get plundered by bandits or slaughtered by all manner of beasts roaming about. Of course, there is a chance for the Sun's husk to whisk their sickly lives away.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA FUCKED UP THE FONT

"Oi, haven't i seen you before?" One of the malnourished guards approached you, his hand already on the hilt of his sword.

Though you didn't need it, Gunhild stepped in assuming an aggressive stance. This caught the attention of more guards. As the current situation was about to escalate, a woman in a greyish blue garb stopped them with a quiet hush "Leave them..."

The guard obliged, they quietly left you with her. She closed her eyes briefly, a moan of pain escapes her pale lips; She clutched to her spear dearly before addressing you " You don't look like the banditry types...are you here to help us?"

"Depends on what you are offering, Karnishel." Gunhild retained some of her aggressiveness in her tone.

The woman took off her hood revealing a relatively young maiden, her vigor consumed "I am Orsla, a priestess of the guiding moonlight. " You have heard of the followers of this pagan divine. Long ago, a devoted follower of the scathing sun has attained divinity through sheer dedication. As a divine, she grants immense health to her followers who 'absorbs' injuries and curses into their soon-to-be frail body. It is no surprise that those priestesses suffer insurmountable pain with each breath. They often wind up dead at very young age from enduring the suffering of hundreds if not thousands lifetimes. The order of the scathing sun barely tolerate this pagan worship only because of their services.

"You are welcome to stay...among us. We have little to offer but company and misery. " The woman coughed for a good minute with black blood trickling from her eyes. She wiped it off as if it wasn't out of the norm " I feel ashamed to ask...will you spare a blessing? Your body shines with the grace of the divines. They..they are eating me from the inside. Your blessing, It will not go in vain."

If we offer a blessing, can we choose which blessing we give away?
>>
>>3014855
YES
>>
>>3014839
>>3014857
I'll suggest
>Offer more serious help to the caravan
and
>Offer a blessing to the priestess [BLESSING] (RADIANCE)
as Radiance seems at the moment to be the blessing that gives us the least.

We haven't the flat bonus to consistently crit right now, so 1-3 coins each time is pretty insignificant (unless it stacks with Scent of Avarice? I can't remember if it does). And I kind of want to see how the supply mechanic holds up without it, as I feel it was the main cause of us having far more supplies than intended at the end of the previous run.

But because giving away a blessing is quite a serious decision, not least because it effectively gives us a -1 penalty on non-combat rolls, I want to wait for at least one other anon's opinion.
>>
>>3014839
>>3014875
I agree with you
>>Offer a blessing to the priestess [BLESSING]

>Offer more serious help to the caravan

if possible too, that looks like an encounter unlocker for a side quest, and we need to gather some renown, which I think both options will deliver
>>
>>3014954
>but I would like to offer more
You want to offer more than one blessing? I'm not sure we can afford to take a -2 penalty given the DCs we've been seeing, and all our other blessings are pretty decent, apart from maybe Scent of Avarice.

Do we actually NEED renown? It seems negative renown opens some options up to us as well, even if it closes others.

WHAT IS THE THIRD ACTION?
>>
>>3014983
Can we decide on the third action after we complete the first two? If not, I'll write-in:

Do NOT give any Blessings.
>>
>>3014875
>>3014954
>>3014990

After giving her the permission, Orsla uttered words unbeknownst to you. Something felt amiss afterwards. You felt...incomplete somehow, she certainly could have sapped you of all of your blessings but she didn't. Her pale face looked more alive,

"Allow me..." In mere seconds, you and Gunhild felt refreshed and reinvigorated. For a split second, a black gashing wound had appeared on her cheek before vanishing the second after. " I will not forgive your kindness."

You lost Radiance!
Your health is now fully restored!
Your companion's health is fully restored!
You gained +10 renown!

You had to wait for a bit until she was finished attending more sickly refugees. The people were more than grateful for your indirect assistance. When asked about providing more serious aid, she had the following to say "Brave men die for our sake each day, Another burden to ask...accompany us, the meek and the broken. for a fortnight. I know of a ruined sanctuary, there, I can gladly pay you."

>Accept her offer, escort the caravan until they reach their destination [ UNABLE TO CONTROL YOUR MOVEMENT FOR THREE TURNS, ALTERED ENCOUNTERS ]
>Accept her offer, asking for something upfront
>Politely refuse her offer.

Kill me now. There goes all that work to stack blessings and our best method of gaining bonus FROM those blessings.

>>3015088
>Accept her offer, escort the caravan until they reach their destination [ UNABLE TO CONTROL YOUR MOVEMENT FOR THREE TURNS, ALTERED ENCOUNTERS ]
It won't be even slightly worth it, but let's get as much value out of this dumb choice as possible.
>>
>>3015088
That... feels not worth it. I suppose it was too much to hope that trading a blessing would give a commensurate reward. Can't do anything about it now though.
>Accept her offer, escort the caravan until they reach their destination [ UNABLE TO CONTROL YOUR MOVEMENT FOR THREE TURNS, ALTERED ENCOUNTERS ]

For the third action, I'm suggesting >>3014990 again.

>>3015092
Radiance isn't the blessing that give us +1 per blessing. That's Shadyah's Embrace. Radiance gives us supplies or coin on a crit. Still not worth the heal in hindsight, but I'm not sure why you're freaking out as hard as you are.
>>
>>3015099
Because all the effort of the first two threads was put into stacking blessings. Radiance is what gives us bonuses on OVER CRITS which was buffed by Scent of Avarice.
All that hard work is gone for absolutely nothing. Just like the dumbass decision to try and reason with the necromancer, talking to the dwarf or interacting with the husk. These are all lessons that we've already learned.
>>
>>3015106
>All that hard work is gone for absolutely nothing.
The way you're reacting makes it seem as though our blessing bonus went all the way down from +7 to 0 instead of +6.

It was a gamble, knowing that we'd lose +1 off our non-combat bonus and some miscellaneous bonus I don't particularly care about. It didn't work out, and I apologize for that, but not for whatever catastrophe seems to be happening in your eyes.

>Just like the dumbass decision to try and reason with the necromancer, talking to the dwarf or interacting with the husk. These are all lessons that we've already learned.
I'm not sure what you're on about with this one. This quest is about exploring and taking risks. It's easy to look back in hindsight and wish we hadn't done something, but at that point in time, we had no way of knowing whether an outcome would be good or bad.

Sure, we're going to make decisions that don't pan out, but that's no reason to avoid all risks and never actually engage with OP's content.
>>
>>3015139
The problem is that all three of those are examples of us not taking risks and instead getting punished because people are trying to ride the fence.

This choice was also not a gamble, it was upfront and obvious that it was charity. We were never going to make a good return on it. It wasn't a shot in the dark or a risk. It was just another of the many stupid decisions to add on to our record.

An unsightly abomination, We are helpless against his glare..it melts flesh and bone alike. There was a knight riddled with curses who made contact with the sun's husk. He defended us from a band of bandits a month earlier. Maybe he will be of use to you...that is if he is alive."

>DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR EQUIPMENT BEFORE MOVING?
>>
>>3015172
No
>>
>>3015172
There isn't really anything to change to. The only thing would be to unequip the Armor of Inspiration, and there's no reason I can see to do that.

>>3015159
>it was upfront and obvious that it was charity
Except that Orsla explicitly said
>Your blessing, It will not go in vain.
which heavily implied, to the point of practically stating outright, that we'd get something in return.

The Moonlight Man event that we got Radiance from? That was charity. There was no guarantee at all that we'd get anything from it, and we had to choose multiple times to throw resources at a literal beggar before we got anything out of it.
>>
>>3015187
No, it wasn't lol. Our ring literally told us the outcomes. It was an informed and weighed decision.

Sacrificing a Blessing on the other hand was clearly stupid but that's not why it bothers me. It bothers me because it directly goes against all the decisions for our character that have been made up to this point. We've gone out of our way to make a build revolving around stacking blessings, chasing blessings, choosing blessings as all our rewards etc etc and you just... shit all over it.

Slavers

The caravan stopped to a halt as a large group of Orc raiders had ambushed the slow trail of refugees from both sides. A good chunk of orcs were armed with nets and catch poles, the rest had battle axes and the usual orcish arsenal. They were led by a well dressed orc, he stood in the center yelling as loud as he could "HUMANS! I'm here for your tiny gut-gots...the girls and the boys. You know there no zuggrah, no chance. I'll sell them to LOOOORDS and NOOOOBLES. A LIFE BETTA ten GAT GAT than here."

The head slaver had disciplined his men, slavery in general is not a concept of life here. It is more glamorous in the eastern and southern lands where life is harsh and unforgiving. "WELL? Where's yo LEADAH? "

Orsla almost tripped as she was approaching the slavers. She leans on her spear barely able to stand up. Her appearance made the slavers laugh hysterically. It is no surprise, Orcs value strength over everything. She is showing none. The guards ready what little rusty weapons they had, some were shaking from the thought of clashing against the burly masses of green muscles.

"Forgive me..."

A Miasma of oozing blight burst uncontrollably from the priestess' body, guided by her spear while she kept twirling it in the soil. Her gaping wounds continue to reopen and close within seconds.

The unholy projectiles contained thousands of intertwined screams, All the orcs struck by it were screaming in agony. Some started to tear their eyes off while other started to stab themselves to get rid of the pain. Twitching, Orsla had collapsed on the ground, alive but unconscious.

" KILL'EM ALL, BRING ME DAT WITCHESS HEAD NAOWWWWWWWWW" The numbers were more surmountable now. The leader had backed away from danger , surrounded by the very best of his men.

Gunhild had actually managed to cut off the leader's hand after dealing with some of his guards. Huh, he ordered his men to retreat. How dare he call himself an orc after this?

The bleeding orc was quick on his feet. Exhausted from the constant fighting , you could not catch up with him, the same can be said with Gunhild who was clutching to her most recent wound.

You returned back to the caravan, the weeps of the living embrace the dead. You saw children clutching to the gutted corpse of their mothers and fathers, their fragile minds unable to comprehend the mangled reality around him. It was dangerous to sit idly like so; the stench of death will soon attract those who are far more worse than orcs. Unmarked graves were dug, those who had no relative were burnt in on big pile to save time. The caravan must move while there is still light.

The tension was palpable in the air; an old woman was tending to the priestess while scornful eyes floated about. They have never seen such an unholy display of power from the way they look at her. Dark whispers started to brew in the shadows...

As for the slavers themselves, they carried little of use to you. They traveled light, those who were able carried bits of dry food and serviceable weapons. The rest was too heavy or too unyielding. You picked off a peculiar ring off the leader's hand with the ring of malice snarling loudly in response. It was...

>A ring made from black stone, a heavy one engraved with orcish words
>A fancy delicate ring made from silver and gold, with a tiny pig head ornament
>A ring made from strings of unknown red hair, emits warms
>A ring made from a special kind of eastern glass. It constantly reshapes itself.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WRONG FONT
Eastern promises

Days has passed, the caravan marches almost non stop. Few has succumbed from disease, or starvation during this time. You were among the decision makers while Orsla was still in her state, sleeping and regaining her strength very slowly. Though she didn't like it, you asked Gunhild to keep an eye on her.

The caravan had ran into another caravan of the wealthier seemingly out of place, an eastern one riding otherworldly beasts of burden, thrice as big as an ox. There were heavily guarded as it would be expected.

Their leader dropped down from her majestic steed-like beast with two of her men behind her tail. All wore colourful and baggy clothes, it didn't fit well with the current weather. She addressed you and Molath, the current leader of the caravan, a good fellow he is " Shobha Ka'laam, I am Siyah of..." She paused, her eyes fixed on your ring "The Tarkaas deserts, We come in peace bearing wonders from our home. Blood and coin runs together, we provide w-"

"P-please m'lady, look at us, our children! anything to fill our bellies, anything! The land is diseased, we can't forage or hunt. please!" A man crawled towards kissing her feet in desperation.

Her guards didn't flinch, Siyah crouched to meet his eyes "We can spend weeks without a drop of water or a curb of Mashkani. We rebuilt our broken lands many a-times. All by our strength, alone. We have no term for the word 'charity'. We trade with blood and coin. Nothing is 'charity'. " With a snap of her finger, all manners of weapons, armour , trinkets and exotic food was on display through portable stands on the beasts themselves. It snapped shut a few moments later.

"Pay us, Kharieebs...do you have 600 coins?"
All the refugees pitched what they had, it didn't break the 100 threshold.

"A shame. Though i have Kaalbi vin asaal... a merciful heart. This ring, belongs to me. Stolen by a dark elf and a shape shifting Wahaaksh. Give it to me, 800 gold , your people get to eat food meant for kings and you can spend the rest on my outlandish wares. That or...." The ring started to purr slightly, you never saw it in this state before

Her eastern eyes were locked on a small boy, a sinful smile grew on her face "We buy this delicious boy from you, same price. Your choice, Ibayadii."

The one armed mother of the child coiled him around her in fear "Pray be quick, we have other customers in the horizon. "

"You have met her as well? Most intriguing. She goes by the name of Anlune . She used to be a slave of pleasure until she escaped with some of my wares. Her filthy soul is bound by Haylaames , powerful words of what you call arcane. It is not of your concern, we will capture her and skin her alive for her misdeeds. " The way she uttered those words had terrified the starving refugees. She and her company are capable of horrible and vile acts in the name of coin.

"The blood of dragons runs in my veins." You stated, hoping to have another option in the matter.

"Your blood? What do you think it will be of value?" The easterner almost mocked you "Fine, then. Tala'oh Wahaaksh. "

The beast of burden at the end of the caravan had numerous cages covered with colourful carpets. One of the guards unlocked a medium sized cage, a human like creature stepped out of it, shackled with magical chains. Its three lanky arms were tightly folded with the bone jutting from the skin.

It had hollow insides, by all laws of nature, this thing should not be alive. This wasn't necromancy either, their magic remains a mystery for the most part. It exposed a very thin and long hollowed finger after it got unchained, It pierced your neck with precise accuracy, you didn't feel a thing the moment it sucked some blood of yours in mere seconds.

A fleshly eye burrowed out of its chest with the colour blue. The creature shivered in what seem to be disgust.

"Kharieebs, you weren't lying. I applaud you for your honesty. However, you blood is murky and impure, fit for uncommon rituals. Hardly worth my time....hmm, In larger quantities, it can be an acceptable trade. I should warn you about my servant, she... will absorb your essence the longer her finger is in contact with you. 600 gold, final price."

Ruined sanctuary

It was over, what was left of the caravan had reached the ruined sanctuary Orsla had talked about. She is slowly recovering, too weak to walk on her own.

The sanctuary itself once had a blessed well but as soon as it dried out, the elves has abandoned the area leaving nature to claim it over centuries.

Hundreds of refugees had already been here, slowly being treated by other priestesses of the guiding moonlight, This was a temporary holdout, they were probably waiting for other caravans before moving out. The chaos instilled here was more organized solely by the presence of both hound and viper deserters (although the hound deserters outnumbered those of the viper). It was ironic to see both factions united like so bearing no amenity to each other. Rations were distrusted justly while some of the soldiers were attempting to train the rather dim witted peasants.

"Speak of my name to the high priestess, she will...reward you for your valiant efforts." said Orsla. With Gunlid, you explored the sprawling chaos ahead.

The soldiers guided you to the sole tower standing in the sanctuary where the high priestess resided. the room was dimly lit with cracks of lights seeping from the recently installed wooden boards. The air was heavy and really hard to breathe , you coughED a couple of times before covering your mouth and nose.

The high priestess sat alone on a wooden chair, seemingly praying to the pagan divine. When she turned her head towards you, you found a withered old woman, her eyes were constantly leaking black ooze. In fact, her own dress was drenched completely...you thought it was just a black dye at first.

She stood up, facing you despite her blindness and leaning on a spear similar to that of Orsla. The droplets of ooze pitter-pattered on the wooden floor.

"You...are..the one...with the girl...Orsla" Her speech was slow and slurry "You...take...you all take...The girl was not meant...to live. How...did you survive...?"

It was difficult for the woman to form a coherent line of though "The guiding moonlight...It grants us strength to...to..heal the people. The girl...she is not fully blessed by the moonlight..the pain..will kill her..sooner than...any..any.." She started to cough violently , more splatters of the black ooze to spread across the floor. The guard standing outside of the room called another priestess, she was in no shape to speak with you for that long.

"With me, " the guard , accompanied by another priestess had lead you to the underground level of the tower to an elven armory containing all sorts of baubles and trinkets.

"Choose one." the woman said, reluctantly.

I /think/ Vaithela meant corrupt in the sense that we are to turn her away from her deity, the guiding moonlight, and towards worshiping Vaithela instead. Which, if you think about it, can only be a good thing for the wellbeing of the girl herself, even if everyone around her suffers more for it.

And especially considering that the guiding moonlight has not b̶e̶e̶n̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶s̶i̶d̶e̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶a̶l̶o̶n̶g fully blessed her despite her selfless devotion, does it really deserve her worship in the first place?

I used to spy for the Viper till my they cripple my legs. You'll find our posts everywhere, hidden in pure sight. Offer strategic information and you'll be rewarded, you may never know; the Viper himself might take a liking to you. There is more way to slip a dagger between his ribs. Think about it"

Optional objective: Gather enough strategic information for the viper to invite you to his keep.

You had to wait in line with Gunhild for your turn, It was a long one but you finally made it. You and your companion's wounds were particularly closing by themselves afterwards.

You gained 20 health!
55/130 health
Gunhild has gained 20 health!
140/160

It was understandable for her not to fully heal you with dozens of more urgent cases.

....

The moon has taken his place in the sky, it shines upon the ruins with a very faint gleam emitting from the elven bricks. Most of their constructs has a scent of imbued magic in it for aesthetic and protective reason. You'll rest here for the night before resuming your journey.

"Sir, are you awake?" You didn't really went to sleep just yet, you looked up... it was Molath with a dozen of more refugees "You and Mistress Orsla have saved our lives, it is only just we return the favor..."

"What do you mean?" puzzled , you asked.

"The black ...blasphemy, s-someone ratted her out to the other priestesses! She's branded a heretic! They are calling her the black witch accusing her for acts she did not commit. Worst of all, she went with the guards willingly. They'll burn her on a stake, sir. Please help her!"

The man was on the verge of tears. The rest looked at you pleading for your help.

"Corkenshal, Let her burn. She brought it on herself. We are not risking out lives for her." Gunhild objected fiercely.

Seems fine so far. The constant updates of things going on elsewhere on the map is an interesting change, as it makes the world feel less static. I like it.

Apart from that, I also appreciate implementing the whole 'offering us choices for what rewards we get' thing discussed last thread.

>>3015907 was a good variety of choices, though it was more or less impossible to work out what the intended bonus would be from the descriptions; I don't know if that was your intention.

>>3017827 was a fair bit clearer. As a player making decisions, I like the transparency here. It strikes a good balance between being upfront about the nature of the item's primary bonuses and not breaking the immersion (or causing players to spend time doing math) with actual mechanical stats.

>>3017737 was clunky. There were too many options, and the choice itself was essentially blind, because the actual items we would get and their bonuses were behind a second layer of choices. So, for instance, we could only pick 'armor' and assume that the bonus would be related to providing some defensive benefit, maybe?

Not to say that multiple-layer choices for rewards are bad or undoable. I would suggest you have the first layer be less indicative of the item type, and more indicative of their bonuses and/or supported playstyles. So for instance, perhaps:
>Choose a defensive item
>Choose an offensive item
>Choose a utility trinket
>Choose a consumable item

Again, this is only a suggestion for an alternative; I give no guarantee that it will work well.

Gunhild sighed deeply "This is the last time i'll agree with you on something so...dense and reckless. Do not make me regret this."

Near the tower, a gathering was already taking place. Logs were brought from all over the camp to this very spot.

"We don't have much time, we'll follow your plan whatever it may be."

Molath nodded " We'll set fire in the solider's tents when it is needed."

You left with Gunhild to get to the gathering, almost everyone was watching Orsla in sadistic glee. She was stripped naked and strapped to the pyre silently praying for forgiveness.

"...THIS is not the work of our most holy divine! WE are to claim the pain of the world NOT TO UNLEASH IT!!!"
The crowd roared and cheer to what you assumed to be the second in command priestess.

"Heretic!"

"Burn the witch!"

"STOP!" You cried at the top of your lungs. The guards were about to intervene but the woman stopped them "YOU! We tolerate your presence no longer! The lack of evidence against you swaying her to blasphemy doesn't mean you are innocent. No, I see a malignant soul inside who REVELS in the pain of others! You must leave for us to conduct JUSTICE of the heretic."

"Please, let me be... i am guilty. My sins must be cleansed with fire.."

"SILENCE! YO-"

"Let...him...speak..." The high priestess' voice was barely audible. The rest went silence, You had one chance to pull it off...

"You speak of justice. Indeed, this woman has committed a grave sin by your precepts. But how many among us here has never been tempted by sin? And how few can claim in truth never to have succumbed?

"What she did, she did to spare the lives of many that would otherwise have suffered and died at the expense of the lives of the few. Is that not the essence of the teachings of your Guiding Moonlight? In passing this judgement, you refute that, and tell the members of that caravan that you'd rather they be dead.

"And in claiming that her death is justice for her wrongdoings, you scorn all the good she has done. Look at the wounds that mar her flesh! Can you deny that, save this one mistake, she has done the work of the guiding moonlight as best she could? Or that by condemning her to death now, you deny salvation from the lives of many others she would aid in the future?

"High Priestess, you told me that she was not blessed fully by the Guiding Moonlight. I do not deny the Moonlight's judgement; no, I say that there may be reason there which escapes our understanding, though I would not presume to guess as to what it is.

"If you find it so repugnant to look upon her for this one wrong she has committed, then send her away. Let her once more find the guidance of the moonlight. Excommunicate and exile her if need be. But do not take her life for making a judgement that you oppose. Because then you deny the Moonlight's wisdom in blessing her in the first place."

Utilizing your illusion skills, you managed to stall them long enough for you to escape unharmed by the arrows primed at your backs. The thick woods provided the cover you needed to slip into the shadows.

An hour later, you and Gunhild were in the heart of the woods surrounded by sleeping critters and bird. It was amazing how the Skraalieg kept her pace with you while carrying the priestess. She rests on the ground, panting "Ishekoshyr! Madman! You.."

Out of nowhere, she started to laugh. You were embedded on the floor, without an sliver of stamina, unable to see her shining laughter "You..madman. I came to this land to find venture and you continue to dip in it."

The lamenting priestess

The next morning, you had to seek shelter in somewhere proper. A small village under The viper's control. Together, you took off parts of you attires to give Orsla some decency, her mind is mostly clouded. The guards gave you a suspicious stare, nothing else.

You wasted all of your coin on a week's worth of rent (admittedly, it was dirt cheap since the whole village is secluded from the outside world thanks to war) and a poorly made dress. There was no use to buy food. A single egg for 20 coins? Madness. Part of you wished to have that 200 coins from the eastern merchant.

You lost all of your coin!

Luckily, you had supplies on your own. Nurturing her back to health while remain inconspicuous was a difficult task.

You lost 4 supplies!!

Orsla had finally started to speak properly "Thank you, both of you. I...the pain was tremendous, still is. It is...smoother with you by my side. I..i know i am a burden, i will offer my life as a payment. That way, i can redeem myself for what happened."

You have gained a new companion: Orsla the priestess of the guiding moonlight

Guiding moonlight: Unable to heal, any sort of damage (inflicted by self or others) will decrease her max hp. Blessings increase her max hp by 200

Look like the zealots of the scathing sun had paid a visit recently, the pagan shrines were scattered to bits. About three were intact, dried blood splattered at the bottom of these statues.

Broken pieces of clay bowls littered the ground some had few coins; an offering to the divines, untouched by the rest of the villagers.

A small malnourished cat rubbed itself against you, it meowed weakly expecting some food. When you were considering to feed it, the cat twitched in utter pain. Its flesh is now a vessel for a higher being...

"You have done well, oh youthful and ugly scholar. The girl is on your side. Do not give her a single blessing, i want her to wither so slowly for me. N-"

"Khyayayaaaa!" An old crippled man pointed his finger at you while sitting dormant on a wooden plank. "Yer finished! finished! i see you , whore of blackness! You think you can hide for me eyes???" The man threw a small rock at the undead cat which has dodged it with grace. He drew a pitiful long stick "Come closer, closer! Khayayayaaa!"

"Hmph, your heart is still soft. It is a start..." The cat licked its rotten paw "Now what was i saying? Oh, the girl...Starve her of blessings, she will crawl to me. It will be delicious, I will see you soon."

Just like that, the cat went limp. You examined the shrines, One belonged to Derdienn whom you knew little of other than its affinity to weather.

The second one had the first elf who reached divinity long ago. Ayreth has quite a following here in the village since the pagan divine is often related to prosperity and good yield, beautiful flowers sprouted around it.

The final one was a legit pagan ; it was more of a bloody totem with dozens of black nails sticking out like a thorn. Some nails had human fingers screwed into them. You could sense a plethora of curses hiding inside. It had a name you never saw before 'The two'

"True, true...This land is foreign. I can honour my divine with no repercussion. You brought me from the dead and helped me with my revenge. You are my Juilendaag. " her voice went soft at the last sentence.

"Your what?"

"Its difficult to be put it in common words, a...a..weaver of blood-soul. A bond between warriors who fought together for a long time. You will be my demise, learned man, but it will be glorious....To forsake such end is nothing but pitiful, borderline blasphemous . I will have this honourable death, whether you like it or not." >"To be frank, I've never considered it before. Until a short while ago, I was old and frail enough that I was sure no one would be able to look past that."
>"Certainly I respect you and value your company, but to say anything beyond that... well, I don't know, yet."

"Ha!" A powerful smack on the back almost knocked you on the floor "You can't mince me with words. The women of Skraaleig must be tamed and pinned down like a wild beast. You don't have it in you." She teased you playfully. Before you could say anything, she left you with a grin on her face. It was your turn to stand guard for the night.

The hound bleeds...

The stench of death and charred flesh was thick in the air as you approached a once prospering town which had allegiance to the viper. The battle was costly for the hound's men who rely on almost non existent tactics. It seems that some quarters remains unclaimed by the hound. Much to your surprise, there was an officer enrolling mercenaries to break the stalemate. He stands on the edge of the city with a handful of battle worn men and some mercenaries.

We really need to find some more supplies. And while we're there, we could

by seeing if we can't, for instance, get any info off the residents or find and steal any important documents. I haven't a clue what we'll be able to actually accomplish in there, so I can only guess. It's possible that we won't have the chance to actually do any snooping.
