You are the O5 Council. Voices in the darkness, lights for humanity to follow across the hungering void. And in their eternal defense, you die in the shadows that they may live peacefully in light.

You collectively awaken and you look around, observing the ruined walls and controls of the room around you, a pitiful state to be sure. What are your first actions?

All damaged. Though you could certainly repair them trivially.

No response from any of them. Just cold static. How much have you already lost here?

>Then do sitrep, check to see who, if anyone, is injured, what assets we have, etc.
All of your members seem fine, though you can tell that this is unpleasant to a few, what with your inability to contact any of your forces.

>Then do sitrep, check to see who, if anyone, is injured, what assets we have, etc.
You take stock of what you do have however. The command bunker being made out of some mixture between Telekill Alloy and the strongest metals known to man (and some that aren't) has mostly remained intact, along with the reality anchors set into it, but there's still an extensive loss of data. Your memory most notably, with the loss of all information regarding the past 72 hours.

Collective desire grows, with O5-3 and O5-10providing much of the 'fine-tuning', and the machines piece themselves back together, systems sputtering back online. Access to your monitoring systems seems partially restored, but only up to a point prior to the last 72 hours, most likely the time of the incident.

>2, 5, 6, cover our flanks. 4, 9, 12, make sure that 13 isn't going to... do anything. Now, what is the last thing each of us remembers?"
"O5-13 seems to have chosen to seat itself apart from us." The Archivist, O5-10 replies. "We suspect trauma from the anomalous event."

Indeed, the indistinct cloaked figure is in a far-off corner of the room, occasionally shifting from one form to the next but not doing much beyond that.

>look over the most recent records we have, looking for something unusual.
Screens crackle to life across the bunker, replaying events from the records that you have, all of the most recent ones up to the current point.

As you watch the daily lives of numerous Foundation facilities play out upon the scenes, you all watch the screens, carefully analyzing all that you can in search of answers. Looking for things that are purely unusual in nature.

"There." O5-2, The Gardener points out. A blurred figure, hazy and indistinct amidst the personnel of Site 19, but clearly there. Standing out in a crowd of researchers, but remaining completely unseen. Perhaps a form of antimemetic cloaking?

>See which SCP's have gone missing
"All of them." The Archivist quietly replies.
>>
>>2947044
>"All of them." The Archivist quietly replies.
Logic dictates, then, that the skips haven't gone missing; we have. Do we have any Kant counters on-site? If so, cross-reference current background Hume levels with readings taken over the past decade to determine if we're in a parallel reality with a notably different Hume constant. Also, try to access our Situation Room monitors of global news channels; if there was a complete containment failure three days ago, we would be well into a Broken Masquerade by now, and would see that reflected in the news.
>>
>>2947044
>though in one council members head but they say its aloud"PANIC" THEN quiet scream and flailing of there arms
>>
>>2947072
>Do we have any Kant counters on-site?
"Several. This one can bring them up if necessary" the Kid replies, which gets a notable hum from all of you. "Beginning cross-reference of current background Hume levels. Please standby."

>Also, try to access our Situation Room monitors of global news channels; if there was a complete containment failure three days ago, we would be well into a Broken Masquerade by now, and would see that reflected in the news.
As O5-3 works, the rest of you focus on your Situation Room monitors, trying to bring them online in order to properly assess the current situation. With but a thought, they flicker on, and what they show confuses you somewhat.

The year is the same certainly and the global news seems relatively standard, with no signs of anomalous devastation, but much of everything else is changed in some manner. You do not recall much of what is being spoken about in any fashion, nor do certain situations (such as sudden deaths of political figures you know not, or of seeming terrorist strikes in population centers, or even of the mass-disappearances of expeditions in some parts of Egypt) make any sense to you. This is all different.

"Hume constants do not match up with what we have currently recorded in the past decade, following this one's analyais." the Kid finally states "All results do not match up with the data we have on file."
>>
>>2947142
So not only are we in a parallel reality, but we're in one that isn't on our records; which likely means there's no parallel to ourselves.
Check our emergency lines to England, the US, and the Vatican. See if there's any channel that accepts our secure handshakes. Then check our GPS coordinates; if we want to get out of here, we'd best make sure we haven't been transposed to a lunar site in the transition.

>Check our emergency lines to England, the US, and the Vatican. See if there's any channel that accepts our secure handshakes.
You immediately decide to bring up your emergency contact lines to England, the Vatican and the US government. But whilst the lines themselves are actually intact, the people behind them are entirely different. You do not recognize them whatsoever, and nor do they recognize you. The Gardener and the Blackbird, O5-5, choose to handle the communications between all three for the moment.

>Then check our GPS coordinates; if we want to get out of here, we'd best make sure we haven't been transposed to a lunar site in the transition.
You decide to check you current GPS coordinates, revealing to you that your command bunker is located some hundred miles underground near a clearing in the South American wilderness. An oddity yes, but nothing too surprising.

At least, until you detect the slight tremors moving through the bunker itself.
>>
>>2947264
"Something has detected us" the Archivist states, as the tremors continue to increase. Indeed, it seems that you have been found by some msnner of entity, your presence having been noted quite quickly. The question is, by what?

Pick one
>Ready the Reality-Anchors for the entity's emergence. Combat might be inevitable
>Attempt to communicate with the entity, to ascertain its golas/motives
>Conceal your presence until it has already entered, then strike

Assume hostility; if something has displaced us into a parallel reality, it likely does not have benign intentions for normalcy preservation. Prepare Scranton anchors and arm yourselves. >Assume hostility
You collectively decide on a course of action, and prepare yourselves for combat. The tremors reach their pitch, the ground shaking and shuddering with more and more force, before it all goes silent.

And then, with a sudden wrenching of metal and crumbling of earth, the ground explodes beneath you, as a massive creature tears upwards into the bunker, its form snaking upwards as it roars and screeches.

The entity vaguely resembles a common centipede, with large connected plates acting as a protective exoskeleton and ebony black in their coloration, complete with hundreds of thousands of roving limbs and feelers. But looking closer, you see that the legs on its underside are not those of a common arthropod, but are instead the hands and legs of human or near-human creatures. You can even see their almost skeletal forms jutting out from its outer armor for a few moments, before the entity shifts and they are pulled back into that unnatural bulk.

The entity screams once more, before diving down towards you all with almost frightening speed.

>Alright team, I know our mission is to contain this crazy shit, but lets just terminate it this time.
>Look around for a weapon.
"Would it not simply be more advantageous to try and contain it for later study, O5-1?" 12, the Accountant, speaks up, seemingly having recovered from its prior fit of hysteria. "We could learn more about the situation we are in with time to study this entity."

"O5-12 does hold a point." O5-4, as the Ambassador, speaks. As you internalize this, you draw out a small bone trinket from yourself, and ready it as the thing tries to devour you, yet misses.

>>2947769
>2, if you can...exorcise this thing or something, now would be a good time. Otherwise, we're going to have to burn some of our credit with 13
"This one would if it could." 12 speaks, having shifted into its face as the Nazarene. "But this creature is far more powerful than it looks. Be glad that the Reality-Anchors are presumably lessening its strength."

"And no, we do not require 13's aid with this. We have faced worse without having to resort to *that* of all things." she adds, moving around to avoid a swirl of groping arms from the thing.

>Ask 12 "Well do you have any ideas about how on earth we could contain this thing? It's clearly a Keter!"
"The threat of this entity is mitigated by its own approach to combat, O5-1." 12 responds, shifting back to the Gardener. "Observe." she moves out of the way of the beast's snapping mandibles as it crashes itself into the wall next to her. "Mindless rage and hate. No strategy or ability to fathom other tactics other than raw brute force." To punctuate that, she brings a wooden cane down on one of the entity's limbs, eliciting a hideous screech from it. "We have already won this battle."

>Let's try a fifth-degree binding spell first.
You spread their information to the other O5's who all unite in agreement. O5-10 spreads its arms, and a wave of runic sigils surround the entity, thaumaturgic energy cloaking the room. The creature screams and thrashes against the binding, squeezing its form tight at some places or outright enlarging it to try and get free, but to no avail.

>Try to pick something cutting and write a bit about scp-2521 at the centipede skin if you're fast enough. Even the smallest details might be enough to summon it.
You observe as O5-12, still in its Accountant guise, picks up a sharp piece of metal and scratches "2521" onto the creature's side. The bunker lights flicker somewhat, and in but a short second of darkness, that entire chunk of flesh is gone, torn away from the beast instantly, eliciting a pained scream.

"Test successful. Existence of SCP 2521 in thus new universe confirmed." the Accountant says, though mostly to himself.

>>2948169
>>2948247
>Who sent you? Who is responsible for our presence?
You then decide to interrogate the anomaly before you, with it still scratching at your binding in an effort to escape.

"Who sent you? Who is responsible for our presence within this reality?

The creature continues screeching for a moment, before twisting its head around to 'stare' at all of you fully.

"YOU BIND US. IMPOSSIBLE. WE CANNOT BE BOUND. WE ARE ETERNAL. EVER CHANGING." It flares at your mind with lashing power, though the Telekill making up the bunker has no doubt weakened such abilities.

"TELL US HOW. HOW HAVE YOU BOUND US SO."

>We cast a fifth-degree binding spell on you. We answered your question, now you answer ours.
"THERE IS NO SUCH MAGIC. NONE CAPABLE OF WHAT YOU HAVE DONE. TELL US. ARE YOU SERVITORS OF THE MAD MOON, THE SHIFTING WARDEN?" the creature intones once more, clearly pressing its power against the binding holding it.

>As for you, creature; answer our question or be terminated. How did you detect us, and why are you attacking us?

"I believe that we were asking the questions here." O5-6, The Cowboy, interrupts. "Now do tell, who sent you and who brought us here?"

"WE DO NOT SERVE ANY BUT OURSELVES." the entity growls out. "WE MERELY AWOKE AND FOLLOWED THE SURGE OF POWER WE FELT. NO DOUBT BOTH KIN AND NOT-KIN FELT THE SAME. WE ARE BUT THE FIRST." it explains, mental voice growing more bestial with every word. "NOR CAN WE CLAIM KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT BROUGHT ABOUT THIS ARRIVAL. YOUR HUNGER IS SATED, NOW SATE OURS."

>It appears this universe's thaumaturgy is significantly less advanced than baseline. Make a note of that, 10; extend Veil Protocol to apply to all PoI and GoIs we encounter here; we don't want to create a further disturbance of this reality's normalcy if possible.

Well, it looks like there's a normalcy-preservation organization in this universe, at least. Prepare all mobile data drives for transport and send up an emergency distress signal. Encode a compulsion meme to rescue and transport us to the nearest major metropolitan center; medium-strength.

(to the entity) We don't negotiate, spirit, we contain. Overwatch, prepare to convert this bunker into an improvised thaumaturgic containment system, Keter-Red. Assume entity has self-transformative properties. Possibly... use a combination of glyphs, thought-disrupting memes, and Telekill. Maybe we can chain it using the alloy. Then, we get to the surface; if the rail elevator and emergency tunneling pods don't work, use long-range teleportation.

>Prepare all mobile data drives for transport and send up an emergency distress signal. Encode a compulsion meme to rescue and transport us to the nearest major metropolitan center; medium-strength.
"At once, O5-1." The Kid replies "Await completion of preparations. Development of distress beacon and integration of compulsive memetic matrix shall take a few minutes."

"Wait, we're *leaving*? Just like that?" O5-12 questions. "What about this entity? Or all the non-mobile data we'd be leaving behind?"

"There's nothing left for us here, 12. Everything's been trashed." Blackbird, 5, replies. "Most we can do is grab what we can and get moving. "

"And what about the anomaly?" the Accountant waves a hand over to the bound entity lashing about its prison, and making demands.

"Acknowledged, O5-1" And together, your eyes glow and shimmer, as the entity screeches and howls against the binding containing it.

"NO! WRETCHED SLAVES OF THE MOON-FORM! YOU SHALL COME TO REGRET THIS! OUR KIN AND THOSE LIKE THEM SHALL FEAST UPON YOUR BONES UNTIL ETERNITY'S END!" the entity howls desperately, striking at the thaumaturgic barrier repeatedly, as the entire bunker reconfigured itself into a more compressed state and begins to close in around you and the entity. Glyphs alight across the pressed-in walls, quickly followed by invisible yet devastating tohught-rending memes and the more intensified presence of Telekill. The entity curls in upon itself in its desperation and pushes outwards all at once, forming a 'ball' of bony exoskeleton and hellish flesh. A form of sustained hibernation you would suspect.

Following this, you all call upon your internal stores and pull yourselves up onto the surface. The grass is dry beneath you and the trees sway with some more force as you manifest, but all in all, it is a relatively normal clearing beyond knowledge of what now lies beneath it.
>>
>>2948523
12... we can return for the volatile drives later- once we either figure out a way back to baseline, or, failing that, re-establish operations in this universe. We should still have access to Deep Storage, given that it's trans-universal, and our safeguards- plus 13, if it hasn't decided to come with us- will keep the rest secure until the time comes. Now, before rescue comes, we need to learn as much as we can about this universe. Physical constants seem to be mostly identical, but history is clearly different; we need to know HOW different. "I suppose so. I just dont want to leave them where something might tamper with them, or worse. But yes, we still have Deep Storage far as I can tell." 12 heaves a sigh, flickering into its face as Adam for but a moment, before defaulting back to the Accountant. "Also, on that note, where is 13?"

"Primary manifestation of O5-13 has chosen to remain behind to secure the volatile drives and the anomaly, but one or more lesser manifestations shall be accompanying us in order to maintain watch." O5-10 supplies. (I hope the QM doesn't mind if I summarize some of the background stuff for Overwatch)
Basically the O5's, otherwise known as the Overwatch or Overseer Council, are the heads of the Foundation. There are 13 of them; each one is an incredibly powerful sorcerer/reality bender, due to the fact that, by their positions, they have to operate at a level miles above the average Foundation researcher. I believe the lineup we're using is:

1: the Founder. The man who founded the Foundation; and possibly many other precursor organizations. Immortal, ancient, clad in rags. May be the basis of the legend of the Wandering Jew. We appear to be speaking through him.
2: The Nazarene. Jewish woman, immortal. Powerful reality bender. Possesses stigmata; is possibly the Messiah/the Christ.
3. The Kid. Age, mortality status, ethnicity, gender, and species uncertain. Helped design many of the Foundation's most advanced computer systems. Refers to self in the third person.
4. The Ambassador. Aboriginal man. Acts as the "face" of Overwatch with other paranormal groups as well as high-powered government officials. Probably immortal, possibly nonhuman.
5. The Blackbird. Middle Eastern man. Elusive. Mortality status unknown. Role in Council unknown. Likes to draw.
6. The American. Texan man, used to be a field agent. Mortal, or at least as mortal as the Council allows its members to be. Expert in military operations.
7. The Green. South Asian woman, dresses in green. Immortal. Organizes training, recruits general staff, and headhunts for talent. Known to be ruthless even by the Council's standards.
8. The Lesser. American man, European descent. Early failures as O5 have left him shaken and dependent on the majority opinion. Mortal as much as can be, like the American.
9. The Outsider. Pacific Islander descent, female. Recruited from outside the Foundation into Overwatch after independently discovering and developing advanced statistical models to track and predict the anomalous. Mortal a la 8 and 6.
10 The Archivist. African-American male. Mortality uncertain. Keeper of the keys of knowledge in the Foundation, making him one of the most valuable members of the Council.
11. The Liar. Immortal shape-shifter. Head of disinformation and infiltration work.
12. The Accountant. African-American male. Immortal. Mathematical expert, in charge of the Foundation's byzantine network of shell companies and other financial tools.
13. The Other Overseer. Non-human immortal spirit. The Foundation made a pact with it at some point in the past. Exists as Overwatch's nuclear option.

"We have constant access to such, O5-1." The Kid tunes in. "If you require us, this one can hack into one of the numerous networks that have been detected thus far."

"Do it, O5-3." O5-7, the Green replies, voice monotone and distant."We do not have time for dalliance."

"Mhm." is all that O5-3 offers in response to the gruff bluntness of the Green. "Information is scarce, but it seems like there might be something similar to the Foundation here, multiple things even."

"What are they?" You all ask of the Kid.

"The only designations this one can find are various references to things called 'Compacts', as well as what might be names. "Division Six", "Keepers of the Source", "The Long Night", "Night Watch", "Null Mysteris" and numerous others. All sharing under the same overall umbrella, but seem to be differing organizations entirely."

Different Factions of the same Organization? Before we get involved in multiversal politics that are technically outside of our jurisdiction (if only because we haven't added them to our jurisdiction yet) we should figure out who we're dealing with.

>Different Factions of the same Organization?
>Who are the players and what are their platforms?
"Not at all, O5-1." 3 responds to your questioning rather oddly, seemingly still engrossed in acquiring new information. "Though all of these 'Compacts' share in similar, if not the exact same overall goal, they are entirely separate from one to the next from all signs, with vastly differing views and mindsets, though they may cone together on certain things from time to time. Their methods never remain the same usually, though there is one common link between them. The way they preserve normality."

"What are their common methods?" O5-8 chooses now to speak up, having been replaced by the "Magnolia" face for the time being. Preferable for the moment. You had not gone unknowing of how shaken the Lesser had been at the appearance of that entity you had contained. It would not have been pleasant to deal with that emotional breakdown in your current state.

"Usually?" the Kid hums a moment as a beeping noise 'pings' out through the air. "Destruction. Most of them do not care for understanding or containing the darkness which they hunt, or even understanding why the world, reality itself, has grown as sick as it has. Their battles are almost purely in the physical, and only in the mythical or mystic when it is required for their quarries."

"For example;" another ping. "The Ashwood Abbey, originally formed as a hedonistic society in Scotland before their supposed 'reformation' into a Compact, hunt and destroy the supernatural, the anomalous, purely for the sport of it. The act of knowledge-gathering and the true defense of humankind is lost upon them. Prior to them turning into what they are now, the Abbey engaged in vices and sins that would be considered unnaturally immoral even by the standards of a modern era. Them becoming a Compact and becoming 'hunters' is just the next step on their never-ending search for the ultimate sin." O5-3 explains, the mark of the Abbey appearing upon its screen. "Similarly, there is the Bear Lodge, who are much the same.

"And then there are cases like the Promethean Brotherhood, who hunt down anomalies not for Man's protection, but for the ultimate end of gaining more power for themselves, or Null Mysteriis who, whilst engaging in science and learning of the supernatural, do it in a most...uncouth fashion. Barbaric even. Disregarding anything that cannot be used to fit their delusions of a "rational", "sane" or "scientific" world, which has turn their supposed organization in three. And these are only the cases that this one was able to mostly piece together from the data available thus far."

"Several do." The Kid replies. "The most reasonable amongst them would be Division Six and the Barrett Commission, but there are quite a few others, such as one that deems itself Utopia Now."
>>
>>2948884
Division Six seems to be a consummately professional name. How do they compare in methodology to our Foundation?

If we're similar enough, I'd propose a vote for contacting them. Borrowing local resources and making overtures with the locals seems like the fastest way of getting home.
>>
>>2948884
Division Six sounds like an ideal organization to contact. Find a way to reach out to them, and inform them that we are private investors wanting to establish a positive relationship with them. Send them schematics for an early-model Kant counter to show good faith.
>>
>>2948889
>How do they compare in methodology to our Foundation?
"Similar only in that they work within and outside of the government itself. Their methods for hunting involve the same amount of mindless destruction as our contemporaries in the GOC. Anything that is not the norm is not to be studied or understokd, but to be crushed without mercy" O5-3 clicks in what you can only presume to be annoyance. "They also seem to be drawing their own resources from an anomalous source we cannot track. The only name we have to work off of is 'Panopticon'.

"We shall not dissuade you from contacting them, O5-1, but we would advise immense caution in doing so."
>>

Ah, nevermind then. Another bunch of lunatics who want their heads in the dirt and their bums in the air.

What about the others? The Barrett Commission, or this Utopia Now?
>>
>>2948906
They sound... unsuitable Tell us about these other three; the Barrett Commission, Utopia Now, and the Night Watch. We want a group that has some connections and are low-profile enough that our temporary 'integration' with them will go unnoticed by any high-power movers and shakers. Also; look into this business with watchtowers and abstract tyrants, and these "shifting wardens". The former sound like liabilities; the latter, useful assets.
>>
>>2948914
>>2948929
>What about the others? The Barrett Commission, or this Utopia Now?
"From our analysis, the Barrett Commission are those who have dedicate themselves to protecting positions of government and power from a race of hemovoric entities that are actively attempting to subvert all positions of human power to their own ends. Utopia Now on the other hand are business-men. Those who only care about dissecting and taking apart the anomalous for use as an easy fuel-source to make themselves more profitable in the long-run of things. In short, they are deluded undesirables with fantasies of grandeur. And as for the Night Watch, they are a unified street-gang, working at night to protect their territories and those who might risk being devoured by the darkness. Admirable, especially compared to the other candidates, but they lack any of the powerbase needed to foster long-term growth in this reality, and given our nature, might see us as a potential threat instead of an ally. Despite this, future recruitment may be possible." The Kid clicks once more.

"There are also three others we have deemed semi-acceptable; the ones going under the names of Network Zero, the Union and the Talbot Group. Network Zero being a collectively online users who investigate anomalous sightings and wish to show the world the truth, some out of genuine desire to aid the world and others out of a desire for personal glory, even moving out to personally film and kill anomalies themselves. The Union being those who wish to protect their families, homes, friends and communities, and care not what the monster or even exploitive organization is so long as it is removed, be it threat or outright termination, and the Talbot Group, created by two prominent doctors to help those children who have ended up developing anomalous abilities (Most notably, those of a 'lycanthropic' nature) work through their supernatural rages and urges, or even working to eliminate areas where such anomalous developments could occur, acting as perhaps the most truly moral of all these Compacts thus far."

"This one shall leave it up to you as to which ones we choose to associate with, O5-1."
>>
>>2948985
The Barret commission might be cooperative.
>>
>>2948985
I think the Talbot Group's work would be fascinating, myself. But yes, the Barret Commission seems like the best option. They won't kill us on sight and, as long as we state our aims as an independent group with no designs on the world stage of this Planet, they should be amenable enough.

And unlike the others, they might be willing to help.

"We shall attempt to make contact with this Commission immediately, O5-1." The Archivist nods at you, along with O5-5 and O5-4. "Though, we do believe that our rescue has arrived."

As 10 says this, a large black van swerves into the clearing, its windows almost completely covered and no identifiers marking its sides.

"Get in." a gruff voice calls from inside the vehicle.

You all quietly step into the vans pulling into the clearing, maintaining psychic connection between all of you. As you enter, you can see multiple dark armored figures seated inside, all stock still. You can't see the face of the driver, but they seem similarly dressed. Seated beside them, there's another man, glaring straight at you.

>Ask the voice "Who are you?"
"We're the ones asking the questions here." the unknown man says, practically growling the words. "Who are you, and who do you work for? Who sent you?"

Before the man and his forces can even begin to react to your statement, the auditory kill-memes laced into the statement that yourself and the rest of the Council transmitted take effect. Soon enough, all of them an in both vans fall dead, their minds destroyed by information it couldnt process.

Removing the bodies from the vans and disposing of them properly, you proceed to continue onwards towards any form of civilization with your acquired transport. It is at this point, that O5-3 mentally contacts you.

"Judging from the behaviors of those individuals, and what we have cross-referenced from our knowledge of the various Compacts, they were members of the Long Night, a group of barely organized religious fanatics trying to accelerate what they believe to be the 'Rapture' to thusly 'purify' all of mankind." it replies.

"If they're barely organized, then how did they get the vans or armor they had?" O5-6 drawls out.

"Analysis supports the individuals as being defectors from the Compact known as Division Six." the Kid replies, once more clicking in annoyance. " Effectively, they traded their own organization of barbaric behaviors for one equally as vile."

"We should be approaching a town quite soon. From there we can make contact with the Barret Commission." The Kid replies.

"Let's hope that they are far more respectable than their fellows. Termination can indeed grow tiring." The Gardener snorts.

>search the bodies and the van itself for anything that may be useful or informational to us.
You found little of actual worth relating to the Long Night members. Though you did find a few documents detailing what might be their other operations in some parts of the globe, it is not immediately relevant.

Soon enough, the vans pull into a rather worn-down town, with some people staring at you as you drive in but not saying anything and mostly returning to what they were doing before. Oddly calm, this lot.

As it does so, you look out of the van somewhat, and notice that even now, none f the people question oyur presence or raise any form of alarm. You look around some, and twist the town itself seems worn, that is likely just from age instead of anything truly malign. And yet, something feels 'off' somehow.

"Acknowledged, O5-1." 3 responds immediately, before diving back into their task. You tell 4 and 6 to come with you, whilst the rest stay behind to watch over 3 (though he does not need it, bieng fair).

As 4 and 6 step out, you see the Cowboy's two bodyguards, Thompson and Black, step in alongside him, though their usual attire has been replaced with something far more casual and almost reminiscent of the townspeople, plain browns and grays all over, though they still radiate that same aura of collectedness and skill you'd expect form any Foundation agent.

"You just had them waiting in reserve, didnt you?" the Ambassador questions.

"Never leave home without 'em." The Cowboy replies, tipping its hat.

You all continue to make your way through the town until you see the large 'town-hall' seated on a somewhat elevated patch of land, though he would not be faulted in mistaking it for a gothic manor instead, with its size and immensely different appearance from the other houses in the town. As you near it, you can almost feel the waves of power emanating from within it, trying to oppress you as it has numerous others.

"It is indeed rather odd. But then again, no one ever said that anomalies made sense." the Ambassador grunts.

"Reckon this to be some kind of statement for the town?" the Cowboy adds.

"Of that, there is no doubt."

>Well, let's knock on the front door. See if the local resident is willing to at least talk, instead of immediately trying to consume or enslave us.
You walk up to the great door, that seems to have odd scripture carved into it, and knock politely on it. Almost immeidately, there is a response. As if the manor's inhabitant had been waiting for you.

"~Oh my~ It's quite rare for me to be getting guests at THIS time of day." The voice that answers in response is deep and sultry, and quite clearly male. The words seem alluring and almost benign, but you detect a deep-set 'hunger' beneath, barley restrained. "Come in! Come in! ~Make yourselves comfortable~" As the door opens, you catch a glimpse of the speaker itself, and immeidately note the oddities. Namely, its perfectly unblemished skin and deeply pale complexion. Golden eyes look sharply at you, twinkling with both mirth, and something else.

The creature's eyes widen and it steps back, hands raised in an attempt at a placating gesture.

"Now now, there is no need for such hostilities, my friends. I merely wished to invite you to my humble town, perhaps give you some pastries and tea!" it chuckles, obviously realizing that it is in a precarious position.

"Oh? You wish to know about the world's history?" the entity tilts it's head as it responds. "Yes, certainly! I do pride myself on being one of the more intellectual Daeva after all!"

"As you most assuredly already know, I am a vampire. A creature of night, sworn to uphold our Masquerade from the ignorant humans. But there are others, many others. Perhaps countless others even. From werewolves stalking the boundaries between spirit and flesh, to those accursed ragged corpses lurking in their crypts in the depths of Egypt, to those ever elusive users of the most ancient magic said to wander the world perpetually, searching for things that aren't there. Or more likely, the things that are truly unseen."

"All have their own means of hiding themselves from humans so I've heard, but all are different. With different minds behind each, though I cannot claim to know any behind my own and that of those that hunt my kind . We vampires for instance, have our secrets maintained by our Covenants. Those secret ruling bodies beneath each and every nation, guiding and keeping us from the ever-spying eyes of mortals and Hunters alike. And as for the Hunters, they have their grand Conspiracies instead, to uphold their side of the Masquerade upon the world, though I have only ever crossed paths with the agents of a single one." It's crazy how the O5s in this Quest are insanely powerful immortal wizards and shit. I always imagined them as being normal anonymous humans who are simply very intelligent and cold-hearted, and are therefore the leaders of a top-secret organization that deals with containing anomalies. But are still non-anomalous humans physically, maybe they started as Foundation researchers or agents and worked their way up to the top.

Then again, this interpretation of the leaders of the group who's mission is to contain anomalies at all costs ironically being powerful anomalies themselves is interesting too, so I'm not complaining.

Just going to answer this before writing. But the best interpretations of the Council (and the most common ones) are where they are borderline eldritch abominations but with benign intentions, working in the pure defense of humanity. Their absolute worst is when they get made into bumblingly incompetent CEOs like something out of the worse fanfiction, who can easily be killed and the entire Foundation routed in one fell swoop.

There's also the Stealing Solidarity canon, where they're actually a bunch of 12 life-long space squids who can casually fold space time, create blackholes and reset the entire universe by recreating the Big Bang. But they're also borderline evil in that canon, so it lessens them personally.

An explosion rocks the manor before the being could finish, sending both it and yourselves crashing onto the floor in a daze. You can feel ash and dust kick up from where you are, and the telepathic link with the rest of the Council flares in your head.

"Something I do not care to doubt, for I have gazed into the many eyes of that which leads them, and I have felt it for myself."

"We possess two of those, O5-1. Namely, an image of 096 and 571." the mechanical voice of the Kid beeps out, though you can somewhat feel its annoyance through the link. "Method for baiting 106 unavailable, and even if it were, likelihood of it choosing to aid us against the threat is extremely low. We would likewise advise against usage of 096 for lack of proper containment facilities to house it, as well as the possibility of town inhabitants being caught in its path of destruction."

As O5-3 finishes speaking, several more blasts impact the manor, with the far wall relative of your position outright disappearing in a burst of unnatural green flame. In the center of said destruction then stands a creature, with a bony carapace reminscient of decayed flesh and three burning green orbs in place of eyes. Without even a word exchanged, the three of you focus and pull the earth beneath the entity up into the air high above. The anomaly loses its balance and falls into the relatively deep hole you've created beneath it, causing its charged-up shot to go whizzing out into the air and dissipating.

Are the creatures controlled by a bug leader or queen? And if so are they then maybe controlled by pheromones or telepathy? If so then both pheromones and telepathy might be used to take control of these combatants. If the bug leader communicates with the bugs with telepathy then we might be able to sent a memetic attack its way by mimicing the way its underlings communicate with it.

As you and oyur fellow O5's gather yourselves to deal with the approaching anomalies, you watch as the center of town alights in a hideous conflagration of green and blue energies which annihilated several buildings, and continues to shine blindingly for a minute or so.

As the explosion dims you watch as both O5-2 and O5-10 soar through the air and crash next to you, the Nazarene and Archivist dazed on the ground, and bodies scorched by infernal flames.

A figure arises out of the spot which had exploded into vile flames, form even more vile and hideous than its kin, a hateful framework that you can easily tell is a barely-held mask for something beyond mortal understanding. Something hateful, and powerful, and all too aware, its many eyes piercing into you. Suddenly, it lets out a deafening scream, and all the world draws back in pain as its Name cements itself in your mind.

>shout to Council and to the vampire "That's the leader! Focus all fire on him!"
"At last...The face of my enemy is revealed!" the hemovore darts forward before you can stop him, and leaps towards the leader-entity (Omnigul, you correct), which simply floats over to the side somewhat and evades his strike, still screeching as it does so. It then raises both limbs, and fires twin blasts of dark energy down at the vampire still pushing himself back up for another attack, knocking him down and sending him into convulsions of utter agony.

>attempt to freeze it by conjuring ice and throwing it at it.
Whilst it is distracted, you conjure ice into the air and send it forward at Omnigul, hoping to freeze it in the air. The Hive leader simply teleportss out of the way without turning, re-manifesitng into the same spot before twisting its head to look at you and beginning to fire several more blasts of caustic power towards you, screaming all the while.

As the orbs of dark energy crash along the ground in front of you, you watch as Omnigul's power seeps into the ground and out manifest more of those heavily armored entities, alongside newly born creatures that quickly begin to charge and screech at you, their bony limbs lashing about towards you and teeth gnashing, even as their progenitor teleports away to another portion of the blazing town.

As the creatures begin to swarm, the Nazarene darts upward and cuts them apart, giving you a curt nod, before leaping over to go and assist in the fight against Omnigul itself. Still, you can see more and more Hive approaching, their armored fellows leading the way with bursts of abyssal energy.

>Take out all of the Hive both newly approaching as well as the ones still here, advise 4 and 6 to protect 10 whilst it recovers/aid the vampire. Go assist 2 in fighting Omnigul
With a wave of a hand, thaumaturgic symbols flare outwards and pulses of energy slam into the approaching Hive, disintegrating most instantly whilst leaving the rest in blazing heaps on the ground. Turning to 4 and 6, you signal for them to protect 10 and go provide aid to the vampire. With a single nod shared between you all, you teleport yourself over to the raging donflict between 2 and the Hive leader, Omnigul.

Omnigul darts upward out of the Nazarenes reach , and from its form comes a storm of twisting green clouds. The air turns vile and acidic, trying to melt into you and the Nazarene, though the latter continues to blast at it with spells in spite of this.

...Spells that you now notice are being deflected by some manner of defensive shielding surrounding Omnigul. It seems to be more powerful than you first suspected.

>>2955715
>Clearly it is only tethered to this reality by choice. We need some means of forcing it to abide by causality if we want any conventional tactics to work.

"Our first response was to assault it with physical force, O5-1. Its shielding negated even that." the Nazarene speaks into your mind.

"However, it does not seem able to keep the barrier up indefinitely. Enough force can tire it and force it to retreat to regenerate its defenses. That is the time to strike."

>Good! Council, vampire, unleash all of your power on it NOW! I want to see that barrier shattered!
>Most harmful single target spells and abilities.
As O5-2 is thrown to the ground by the force of one of Omnigul's retaliatory spells, you mentally signal to the Council to focus all fire directly upon Omnigul following the data you've received.

Almost immediately upon the signal being sent, a blast of blue light from the other side of town strikes the Hive leader from behind, impacting its barrier but staggering it. A combined attack from O5-3, 5, 7, 8, and 9 you can tell instantly. Before it can recover, another two blasts lance into Omnigul at the side, staggering it once more. 11 and 12, clearly. Then come three more burst, one shaped like a tangle of flower petals whilst the other two wrap around Omnigul akin to rope, squeezing themselves against its protective barrier. 10, 4 and 6 adding their weight to the assault.

Finally, you and 2 once more exchange a small nod, before adding your own spellwork to the struggle. Omnigul screams as two more lances of light blast into its barrier, desperately struggling to tear itself free, but 6 and 4's own magic holds it in place and prevents it from moving. And with one last push of force, you hear the barrier shatter, and with it, the last defense of Omnigul from your combined magic.

A single scream echoes out, and then the world explodes into white.
>>
>>2957047
As the roar of light and explosive magical power dies down, you look around and see that several buildings surrounding you have simply 'disappeared', leaving only an empty clearing of dust on this side of the town.

As you push yourself up, you see O5-2, once more the Gardener, standing before a hunched over figure laying on the ground, body shuddering in apparent pain with shocks of arcane energy. One you have seen well this night.

Omnigul.

The spell has certainly weakened it heavily, as from what you are hearing over your link to the rest of the Council, the other Hive entities began convulsing the moment the combined spell hit their leader, with some even fading away entirely.

In this state, you may be able to deal with or learn more about the entity and its assault on this town, weakened and clearly stunned as it is.

>contain the entity for a time until you can figure out what it is and what its ultimate goals are
You and O5-2 quickly set up a field of shimmering wards thrilling with thaumaturgic energy around the vastly weakened Omnigul, binding it into a circle of power and keeping it restrained.

"This is truly an oddity, this anomaly. It is by far the most dangerous force we have yet encountered in this reality." the Gardener notes, staring at the bindings you have both imposed upon the Hive entity. "That hemovoric creature said that this entity and its kin are known as 'the Hive' correct? The name does not seem familiar, despite us having encountered similar entities such as this before. Hmmm..." 2 scratches it's chin nd looks over to you.

"Perhaps we should gather the rest of the Council and the hemovore, put out these fires across the town and interrogate the entity as a group? Certainly, we could overpower what few defenses it has left then."
>>
>>2957709
"O5-1." the voice of O5-3 suddenly interrupts. "During the conflict, we managed to complete our connection to the Barrett Commission. They are likely already making motions to track us down or brand us as an infiltrating force. Your presence in diffusing hostilities is greatly requested." the Kid finishes.

"Go on." the Gardener adds their voice. "We'll keep tabs over here until you can be available." 2 then gestures over to the imprisoned anomaly. "It won't be going anywhere."
>>
>>2958232

The way I see it, we can only cooperate with either the haemovore here, or the Barret Commision. They're mutually exclusive because the BC's goal is to hunt hemovores.

A good way to quickly get us in the BC's good graces is by betraying the vampire here and handing him over to them.
>>
>>2958417
"Perhaps, O5-1." the Kid responds, voice a mechanical monotone. "But what of the village and its inhabitants? Would their protection be ensured with the destruction of the hemovore? The likelihood that entities like the ones encountered this night will cease attacks here is quite low."

"Acknowledged, O5-1" 2 nods to you, before turning towards the bound Hive entity to begin her interrogations.

Receiving a combined affirmative from the rest of the Council, you take note as waves of mystic water wash over the blazing unnatural flames across the town, and even some of the more damaged buildings being pieced back together through quick spellwork. As you do so, you feel the presence of O5-5 step in beside you, wearing its Blackbird guise, and together you walk back into full range of 3 in order to begin negotiations.

"(Enabling connections to the Barrett Commission. Negotiative proceedings: Begin/)." the voice of 3 rings out as the connection is established between 5 and yourself to the Commission.

"...Who are you and what are your reasons for contacting us?" a gruff, and distinctly to the point, male voice responds. Best to talk quickly, you suspect.

You can almost hear the gasp of surprise from the man as you transfer all the relevant data to whatever systems the Commission uses. Perhaps this shall bring an agreement?

"I take it you've received our little gift?" Blackbirds chuckles somewhat at the clearly surprised Commission member.

"I...B-But...H-How?"

"That's for us to know, and for you to not find out." O5-5 cheekily replies.

>"We have told you everything we know. I trust the Barret Commission can fulfill their end of our agreement?"
"Y-Yeah...I think we can." the man responds, only barely regaining his prior composure. "I'll have it work it out to my bosses though. But we'll figure something out."

"Until then, we suppose" 5 speaks once again, voice chipper and jolly in sharp contrast to your own.

"...Yeah. Until then." The transmission ends with those final few words. All in all, not a bad negotiation procedure-

"I heard it all you know. The whole, 'selling my town out' thing you had going with the Hunters." an all too familiar voice replies from behind you.

Well, this was unexpected.

Very late update incoming.
The creature steps beside you, seeming content to just stand and look out beyond the horizon, almost ponderingly. "Certainly didn't expect any of this, if you can believe it." the hemovore speaks.

"Didn't think a Daeva as young as myself would ever come this far, or even make something remotely of himself. 'Thought I'd be killed long before then, be it by some Hunters or even by some rival vampires." it continues on, looking out into the darkened skies. "But I'm glad that I got to at least leave a mark on the world before I left."

"So, what now?" O5-5, rests its arms behind its head whilst staring at the vampiric entity.

"I'll be staying behind until the Hunters come, but I won't let my people remain here, certainly not." the creature shakes its head rather vigorously. "The Hive will not cease their attacks, even with their leader captured. So I'll send them off to an acquaintance of mine. For safety and security that I couldn't provide."

"...Can you promise that they can at least make it there intact?" the hemovore turns to you now, eyes gleaming yellow, almost beastly. "A final request on my part. You may take whatever you desire from me if you choose, just honour me on this one thing, stranger."

>Accept to protect the townsfolk until they have reached the vampire's associate, for the price of some of the vampire's own accumulated artifacts and tomes, along with some more knowledge regarding the Hive and the rest of this new world

"That would be quite frankly, a waste, O5-1. Our most powerful binding spells are meant for imprisoning entities far beyond anything we have thus far encountered up to now." O5-3 immediately responds.

"It would also broadcast our combined presence to every single entity within range of the spell. Which would be all of them."

"Personally, O5-1, we would suggest simply taking whatever we can form here, and going to find a means of establishing a direct contact point with the Commission. But it is perfectly within parameters for us to engage this entity either way, should you desire."

You look to 5, who grins. Sighing, you accept the vampire's request, which causes the hemovore to break out into a grin to match 5's own.

"Didn't expect you to trust me whatsoever honestly. Still, I'm very glad that my town will live on in some way. That's the most I can ask for." the hemovore continues to beam at you, almost reminding you of a certain blob of pure happiness in how bubbly and joyful he looks. "Words alone cannot describe my thanks to you."

You move to ask about the Hive and the rest of the world in preparation for the arrival of the Commission, but then-

Pain. Anguish beyond anything you've felt thus far. You see flashes of hateful green flames, of teeth and scales the size of cities, of a prince of sundering dark, and of three great figures seated atop the ruins of existence, their logic of blades victorious over all others.

But beyond that, you see something else. Something greater, something more terrible than the rest of the visions combined. A great [Shape] boundless and infinite, the ultimate [Finality] of all things. And [It] sees you. All that you are, your entire history and experience, all laid out before it, the totality of your very existence itself.

And [It] laughs.

When you next come to, the vampire is beside you, pulling you up alongside some of the villagers, some of which are helping up 5 who is similarly lying upon the ground. Feeling across your link to the rest of the Council, you note that they all underwent the same experience, and are only just coming back to awareness. But beyond the lingering feeling of pain and total *wrongness*, they seem to all be accounted for.

All except for 2.

Immediately, the Council leaps to action. Dimensional boundaries are breached, alternate timelines analyzed thoroughly, and threat ritual work brought to bear as the Council begins to comb through for O5-2's location.

>Write thaumaturgic symbols on the ground for the divination ritual
You yourself begin to scrawl thaumaturgic sigils into the ground in preparation for a divining ritual of your own. But before you do;

>To civilians/vampire while preparing the ritual:
>Did you experience some sort of vision? Has anyone else besides us passed out? How long were we out?
Most of the villagers shake their heads or reply with 'No's'. All except for one youth, barely past puberty you suspect, who replies in the affirmative.

"I-I saw a deep catacomb, of green and h-hate. Omnigul was there, your friend b-b-being used for her ritual. An offering...to The Heir of the Osmium Throne." the boy stutters out. "That's why she wanted us, all those l-like me. Offerings...."

"Some young lads passed out like you did, but not for very long. But all are saying the same things." an older man replies to your second question. "Omnigul has your friend, and intends to finish her dark designs this eve. No matter the cost."

"You were out for some time, my friends. A few hours almost certainly" the hemovore quickly answers your final quick question, getting you mostly caught up. "I even went to check upon your compatriot and the wretched creature myself in that time. Both were gone."

So it was a trap after all. You had underestimated your foe and now you were paying the price.

"O5-1." the voice of 10 enters your mind then. "We have isolated the dimensional pocket that we suspect the entity designated Omnigul to have fled towards after capturing O5-2. It did not take many measures to conceal itself in its haste."

"We shall attempt to link the rituals we have started to try and force our way into its domain, but we will require absolute focus for the journey, lest we lose our chance. Notify us upon your preparations entering completion, and we shall begin."

"We shall alert them to this inconvenience, O5-1." the Kid clicks out. "But for now, we must act. And quickly."

'Indeed', you think as you finish preparing all of the sigils for the ritual. And so with that, you send out the signal to the rest of the Council, and together you push past the divide between form and spirit.

>And then attempt to enter Omnigul's domain.
You all spill through the gleaming gap and enter a realm of chaos, quiet and yet beyond horrible. A black wreck of what you could almost mistake to be a sun sits at the heart of the churning madness, twisting and writhing impossibly, and before it lies Omnigul herself, O5-2 raised above her, encased in a gleaming green cocoon. All in offering to whatever dark power she serves.

Upon entering the realm, Omnigul turns to you, screaming (or is it laughing?) at you, her deafening sounds drawing forth legions of more Hive monstrosities, with two bestial giants flanking beside her, as her twisted limbs crackle with dark power.

Drawing power from within yourselves, you and the other Council members set loose a barrage of spells upon the hordes of lesser creatures flanking Omnigul, eliciting cries of rage and pain from the beasts, and boiling many of them into nothingness.

Following this, 3, 7, 9 and 10 set loose cognitohazardous memes upon the minds of the now disorganized Hive creatures. And whilst the more heavily armored ones and the two flanking brutes seem immune, many of the more lanky screeching creatures turn upon their fellows and begin to assault them.

Attempt to create a magic reflection shield to throw it's orbs right back at it.
saved by those last rolls right there.
With a snap of energy, a shield flares up in front of all of you, shielding yourselves from the dark powercunleashed by Omnigul, and even reflecting some of it back towards her.

Omnigul manages to dodge some of the reflected shots despite her surprise at such, but a few hit her directly, throwing her back and shattering her shield somewhat. She screams and teleports to another side of the room, as the two hulking beasts that had been flanking her roar, stomp down and begin blasting rays of crackling energy from their skulls, pulverizing the ground beneath you and sending cracks rippling across the length of your shield as they advance.

You hold the shield, bolstered by the wills of all the Council members focusing their energies behind you. And as the shield finally begins to buckle and crumble under the continued assault, the words you needed it hear arrive;

"Teleportation active." O5-10 announces, as you all warp away last second, as the beams finally tear the shield asunder. Appearing right behind the beasts, you begin to unleash spell after spell at them from behind, whilst your fellow O5s direct the swarm of meme-affected Hive creatures swarm around them, nipping at their legs and distracting the giant brutes as they swing their arms at them and struggle to reorient their firing positions.

But out from the edge of your senses, you detect Omnigul preparing to cast another spell, as the cocooned form of O5-2 begins to ascend towards the twisted mass masquerading as a sun high above.

You whirl around, and began to unleash wave after wave of spells agianst Omnigul, as the rest of Overwatch focused on the lesser minions and the two great beasts.

Omnigul screams, and meets your blast of magic head-on with her own, as O5-2's captured form continued to drift ever steadily upwards towards that wound in the world.

"O5-1, estimated time to complete negation of O5-2's metaphysical being: 20 minutes, and counting." 3 pings out, as it continues to fire beams of data that reduced any and all entities hit by them to their constituent elements.

You have to finish this quickly.

>Council, I need all of your power now! Throw everything you can muster against this anomaly, we must end this ASAP!"
"Affirmative." they reply, before lending you more of their own power to stand against Omnigul's own. Your strengthened barrage of spellwork forces her back somewhat, but she quickly replies in kind, boosting her own power in order to more forcefully resist you. A dead-lock is soon formed between the two of you, neither side willing to give even the tiniest inch whatsoever.

>We should have someone work on releasing O5-2, another on distracting or killing the ads, and everyone else on Omnigul.
"We shall work on freeing O5-2 from its imprisonment at once." The Archivist and Kid respond in tandem, before teleporting over to the ever-rising mass of pulsating green.

"Leave the lower creatures to us then." 8, 7 and 9 proceed to move in an intercept course with the twin giants and the other remaining minions, slashing and burning their way through the beasts with impossible grace and speed (with 8's mask as Magnolia still holding firm for the most part).

"Suppose that leaves us with you then, Founder." 12 speaks for the remainder of 4, 5, 6, 11 and himself (13 cares not for the unfolding events), all coming together to give you their own power to oppose the Hive sorceress.

Omnigul scream-cackles once more, and begins to whisper in an unknown language, dark power swirling about her like a hungering storm, before ravenously descending upon you and your compatriots. Eager to have its fill of you.

>Change of tactics: We don't have the firepower to brute force through her shield which reflects our spells but we can work around it. Use indirect means of attack like telekinesis, projectiles and spell disrupting magic.
>Immediate action: Erect a wall to meet charging Omnigul head on
You relay the change in tactics to 12, 4, 5, 6 and 11, who nod, before beginning to pull up disruptive arcane energy and raw telekinetic force, and directing it towards the shifting tide of darkness, causing it to shimmer and shudder somewhat as the psells impact it.

As they do so, you push a wall of energy put from the ground, just as Omnigul's wave is about to impact, causing the screaming sorceress to slam into it head-on, pushing you back some, but retaining the wall.

As you move your senses to other parts of the battle, you see that 8, 7 and 9 have mostly cleaned up what spawn Omnigul called forth, with only a few more gnashing creatures and one last giant brute remaining, whilst 10 and 3 have seemingly tethered the cocoon holding 2 to the ground, and have begun to pull it down. This battle is at last winding down.

Omnigul screams in fury however, and blows you back with the force of her flaring power, obliterating your wall and sending you and the other assisting Council members flying back. You can see it now, she's exhausted, that last spell having taxed her considerably. But as her dark power coats her once more, you know that she's not finished just yet...

>Unleash the most powerful single-target spells we can muster to destroy Omnigul once and for all.
You charge, power gathering around and within you as you do, the light of mankind to ensure a future a stability and peace. Omnigul charges, twisting darkness swirling around her, a gleaming [knife] to carve out a future of oblivion. And at the center-point, you meet. Blow for blow, spell for spell, and it all comes down to this. An explosion of sounds and colors spreads throughout the realm, swirling about in the center of it to eclipse the dark sun at its heart.

As she reaches out, darkness lancing out towards you in that shining expanse, attempting to plunge into the center of your being and annihilate you. But you meet her blade with your own, locking them in. Her screaming voice twists and warps at you, but you resist and sigils flare about in the void around you, bombarding the hateful witch over and over again, tearing chunks out from her form, and eliciting more of her terrible cries.

She snaps her head down towards you, mouth opening wide, dark power pulsating and screaming at the bottom of her throat. 'A void', you realize. One made with the intention of devouring both you and herself, to erase both of you utterly. But you do not let her.

With one sudden movement, you plunge your arm into that gaping maw, and you let the light in. The darkness screams and grasps and tears at you, but you do not let go. The screaming void is illuminated and burnt away, the form of Omnigul tearing and flaking away as more and more light blazes through her, escaping in rays through cracks in her form.

With one final scream of hatred, pain, and absolute defiance, Omnigul splits apart, dark essence spiralling upwards along a pillar of light before exploding all at once. In less than a second, the released energy is upon you, and in that shining expanse, you know no more...

You awaken, slowly to start but your mind quickly catches back up, and you pull yourself off the ground and begin to look around. You're back in the town again, lying on a pile of warm furs placed outside for you, right next to the vans you came in with.

As you reorient yourself and look around, you also take the time to try and search for signs of the Hive whose leader you had just fought. But beyond the scorch marks, and lingering whisps of twisted energy, there is nothing there. The Hive, Omnigul, are gone. The town, perhaps even this entire nation, are safe. For now at least.

You begin to check over your links to the rest of the Council, and find that all are safe, albeit still recovering from your previous encounters. But most especially, you find 2 amongst them, faint though the connection may be now. You were indeed successful.

You begin to look around, but you don't have to look long before you see the approaching being. The vampire comes up to you and smiles, a genuinely pleasant expression spreading along his face.

"Good to see that you're up. Many of the townsfolk were worried about you all, especially the children. In fact, that one stuttering youth you questioned suggested that all the children make something for you. And when you all came back, tired and exhausted, they and their parents were the ones who offered to accomodate some of you or even give places to rest." he explains, pointing to the furs youre laying on. "So here. As a token of gratitude, from all of us, for everything that you've done this night." He proceeds to hand you an object, a gleaming blade of silver and yet radiating an immense inner light. Around it, you can see a veil of spectral green hovering about, similar to the Hive's own sorcery, yet feeling almost...'benign' in nature. Protective and nurturing, rather than hateful and destructive.

"The boy and his friends most dearly wanted you to have this, and I think it would be a shame my good sir, to deny them the sight of such work taken up by you."

Also the vampire might have some leads on this, we want a boring rule abiding mage group to deal with, the vampire might have contacts that knows a little bit, I think mages use vampires a bit like The Fundation uses d class personell so they might at least know a little little bit.

I think that would be like the british in imperial times paying people in their colony in India to kill snakes. The demons would just make sure there always would be more horros to deal with, they would probably work out a profit sharing deal with the horrors and SCP would be paying forever for absolutely nothing, where the demons would summon a new horror for every horror they removed.

"Thank you sir, but I don't think that's in the cards. I would inevitably be hunted down anyway even if I were to flee." the vampire smiles sadly at the ground. "Being honest, I'm scared of it all, but I know without doubt that my townsfolk would be tracked down and destroyed along with me once they found out that I had left this place."

The comission is not a threat to someone like us little vampire, now then do you know of any factions that are competent with advanced magic in the dimensional travel category? >now then do you know of any factions that are competent with advanced magic in the dimensional travel category?
"I have heard that the werewolves can supposedly move across dimensional boundaries, but most of them are...decidedly uneducated when it comes to certain things beyond what tasks they take up, or are otherwise quite brutish, no matter the tribe." the vampire explains. "Some of my associates are likely to know more on that front however."

>You mentioned rare users of ancient magics, what are those excactly, and what are these hard to find things they seek? I think we might already know a great deal about these things they seek.
"Nobobdy knows much about those supposed 'Mages' sir. They're immensely elusive, and impossibly deadly. Though one associate of mine, prior to his unfortunate disappearance, did say that they hunt for things called 'Mysteries', things hidden from most that grant insight into the nature of magic. But beyond that, I cannot say." the vampire sighs. "They hide too well, and erase all that try to pry into their actual nature or secrets.

It doesn't take long for you to find 2's location, mostly thanks to your spiritual connection to all the Council members but also to the kindly townsfolk willing to show you the way there. As you approach 2's residence, you see that the townsfolk have gone above and beyond, having chosen a building on the farther edge of the town which was thusly spared the full wrath of the Hive. One covered in all kinds of brightly glowing plants, all of them radiating osme form of mystical energy, apparently the result of "Some of the young'ins" according to the townspeople.

You step inside the building through its large entry way, covered in multicolored vines, and see 2 sitting in a chair, nursing a warm mug of tea.

"O5-1." her eyes focus on your face. "I am glad to see you again. And this one is also glad for you saving it from that abyssal nightmare."

"I saw It, O5-1." your fellow O5s eyes widen slightly. "Their Prince...It was waiting for me there. Blazing in fury."

"It held hate and contempt for life to a degree approaching many of our more notable entities, but that wasn't what unnerved this ne." 2 explains, quiet and somber in tone.

"It was the screams. Of children, of men and women, of parents. All of them, past sacrifices. I heard them all when that thing turned upon me. And I heard its Name as well. Repeated a tohusand-tohusand times in each and every one of those screams." 2 rests the cup of tea on a small table, and looks off into space for a moment before continuing to speak, regaining their composure somewhat.

"...We suspect that this wasn't the only one either. After all, what is a Prince of a King? Or a King to a God? The situation in this reality is worse than we could have ever anticipated."
>>
>>2970949
"Potentially, it does, O5-1." O5-2 responds, oddly the only Council member to do so. "But it did not seem much for talking. If anything, it seemed more focused on mindless destruction and consumption."
>>
just going to post the concluding bits now, since thread is falling off
Before oyu can question 2 regaridng the tihngs it saw after Omnigul had captured it, you are cut off with a raised hand. "We can talk more about what I saw later, O5-1. For now, let's go and meet the rest of the Council in preparation for moving to meet the Commission." With that said, 2 stands up, shifting into its face as the Gardener and walks through the open door, with you quietly following.

As you pass through the town, you see the townspeople gathering their things, whatever they could salvage from the destruction wrought by the Hive at least, and sorting them into large sacks. You even see some of the youths carrying things off the ground with applications of magic, or even outright transporting them elsewhere. Is this the reason as to why they were being attacked?

It only takes a few minutes for you and 2 to arrive back at the vans where the rest of the Council have gathered at, and it is there that you are met with a most odd sight. Namely, of the rest of the Council crowded around a shorter figure.

>>2972797
It's the stuttering youth from before. The one who had told you of the realm that Omnigul had taken 2 towards, and of the true nature behind why she had taken all the victims that she had. Supposedly, he was even the one who led the construction of the blade you hold to your side now, according to the vampire. But why is he here now?

"Greetings, O5-1." both O5-3 and O5-10 reply, nearly in sync. "It appears this child wishes to join us. An odd thing in and of itself."

The boy turns to you, and stares right at you, eyes somewhat wide as he stares up at you, before focusing on the blade at your side. "O-Oh, you've t-taken a-a liking to it? I-I'm glad." he smiles, small though it might be.

"You wish to join us boy? And you constructed this." The Gardener gestures to the blade, at which the boy nods (though he does mutter that he had help). "Hmph. What else can you do?

"He has demonstrated an active ability to manipulate the constants of this reality, along with powers we have yet to fully decipher." The Kid responds, numerous beeps and pings sounding out from it. "Indeed. Out of all of this towns youth, this one shows the highes5 degree of potential amongst their number."
"I-I T-800forge a lot of tools. M-Mostly for my dad, but sometimes people ask m-me for t-things." the boy stutters out.

"If he doesn't become some bother, then he can remain. But the choice is his and O5-1's in the end." 2 grumbles, and then walks over to the vans, opening one of the doors to go sit inside.

Looking at both the rest of the Council, and the boy himself, you see them all waiting in anticipation of what you would next say. Without a single word, you begin walking over to the vehicles, with the rest of the Council turning and moving likewise, as the boy looks dejectedly at the ground and starts to turn on a heel to start heading back.

You whistle, causing his head to snap upwards. You look over at the child, waiting expectantly and tapping the sword at your side, as the realization finally hits him and he smiles once again, somewhat brighter, before beginning to walk over.

And with that, the long night seems to finally lift in those quiet few minutes, as the Sun rises upon a new day. You can only hope that you will be able to face what the dawn brings in the rejuvenated shadows it casts.

That kid has seen a lot of good people get taken or outright killed by the Hive. He's pretty used to awful shit happening.

Who knows? With his abilities, he might just end up as the first amongst whatever new forces the Council creates in this reality, or even end up as a technical Council member, their representative to everyone else. He has a lot of options in his future.
