Hey y'all. If you couldn't tell, this quest will be taking place in the well known DC Comics universe. Here there be gods and monsters, magicians and aliens, and even a clown or two. But bear in mind that due to various time travel related and or multiversal shenanigans, the DC world is ridiculously complex as a whole. So I'll be running a very streamlined version of it. And to be up front about it, it will likely be shaped by my own likes, dislikes, and biases.
Oh, and aforementioned shenanigans won't be making an appearance.
Mostly.

>The Rules
I will write up the life of our young hero Morgan Barrett, a high school student who has just truly begun his career as a superhero in Gotham City as Gray Ghost, you will be given prompts to direct him.
Some things will require a dice roll to determine success or failure or something else entirely. Write In's are absolutely encouraged but I reserve the right to torpedo anything.

The voting period will last 20 minutes after the prompts are given. I will then announce the voting closed and write up the chosen response.

>The Dice
We will be using 1d100 ninety percent of the time here. Best of three. We might use something else when applicable. I'll be running with a loose sort of degrees of success/failure thing here so no real DCs.

This isn't how you wanted to spend your downtime after the Blood incident. You were hoping to catch up on school assignments, work on some gadgets, do some training. Even just hang with your friends. But nope. The scum infesting your new home had other plans. That's how you ended up in what you're assuming is a shared property of Black Mask, Penguin, and Great White Shark.

The Black & Whites. The kingpins of Gotham's organized crime. You have a special kind of hatred for guys like them. It's hard to hate guys like Mr.Freeze. He's desperate, possibly even mentally unstable. Sure, he doesn't get a full pass for being a little looney. He's killed people. But he does what he does to save his wife.

But these three, they only do what they do to stroke their egos and line their pockets. And tonight, you've found that at least one of them has been working for your worst enemy. HIVE. And if your very interesting conversation with Queen is anything to go on. You have a target on your back going forward. Needless to say, you're not in a good mood.

You nearly jump to your feet ready to fight when you hear the floor rattle. Looking down, you see floorboards lift up, and Robin crawling his way out. You help him up and dusts himself off. "Man, if you think this room is bad you should see their crawlspace."

"I'm more interested in the dining room. You got a scan of the place yet?" You're more than a little impatient. The only time they'd all be vulnerable all at once, is tonight.

"Only a partial. This works in conjunction with the Waynetech satellites, which need time to move into position."

"Ok then show me what we've got." You both sit down at the table and Robin sets down a small piece of his gauntlet to display his rough map of the mansion.

"Way I see it, we've got two way of coming in. First one is the one we're both familiar with. Use the vents to get in unnoticed then strike where they least expect us. Or..." He highlights the large window separating the dining room from the balcony. "We could smash in through here. Classic shock and awe. It works for Bats, it'll work for us."

You study your two entry points, thinking on the pros and cons before moving on to the next point. "Alright, then after were in the next thing should be hitting our targets as hard as possible."

"Exactly, but we've got three targets and only two of us. So how do you wanna do this? Whoever we don't hit will be open to retaliate." Robin brings up profiles of the Black & Whites on his display. "You know Black Mask pretty well already. Incredibly high violent tendencies, he'll probably fight back the hardest. And I wouldn't touch his mask with your bare skin. It's covered in lethally toxic cosmetics."

"And Penguin, whatever you do, don't underestimate him. He may be short little weirdo but he's got every nasty trick you could think of stored in that umbrella. Finally, White Shark. He actually tends to avoid fights but don't mistake that for weakness, Bruce still has a scar from the time he bit into his wrist. Went right through his armor too."

Taking in everything Robin has to say, you get a little lost in thought. But he brings you back for one more detail. "Oh, and you haven't had much time to work on your toolkit huh? You should borrow one of mine. I'd give you more but, we can't all turn into smoke at will!"

Alrighty then, looks like

Bust in from the balcony
You attack Black Mask
Robin attacks Penguin
And you take Auto-Bolos as your gadget of choice

>Writing

>>2897079
Once you've got your gameplan laid out, Robin hands you the auto-bolos. Seem to be a spherical device with a single button to press on either side. "Careful with those. Barb designed em. Hit the button on accident once and nearly got it tied around my own neck." He gets a beep on his gauntlets. And a couple dozen signatures show up in the dining hall. "Looks like dinner is served."

After a quick gear check your off, you follow Robin through his route under the floor since it leads back outside, and you both easily grapple up to the balcony and put the guards up there down for a little nap. Robin gives you a thumbs up, and puts on his best smile for the creeps beyond this glass. "Now, I never taught you this maneuver, but you should be fine with how easily you can change your weight. Just follow my lead."

You steel yourselves. grapple against the edge of the roof overlooking the balcony, get a running start and jump, with your lighter body, it's a breeze to twist your body around and aim your feet squarely at the glass, just like Robin. Hardening your legs to a dense state at the arc of your swing. You rocket through the window.

Everything from there feels like it's moving in slow-mo. The guests are all scrambling, fumbling the food on their forks or just looking on in shock. The Black & Whites all turn, their own instincts and paranoia letting them keep their heads. it won't be much help.

You practically fly across the room with the momentum you've built up, barely restrained by the window you just smashed through. But even with your speed you're able to toss the auto-bolos immediately and they hit their mark beautifully. Sionis is barely able to react as the orb splits and wraps itself around his torso, tying his arms down. Which doesn't help him at all, as you rocket towards him and throw all of your weight and speed into one solid punch.

There's a satisfying crack as you send Roman flopping onto the huge oak dinner table. Destroying lots of no doubt stupidly expensive tableware. He struggles in his bonds, not getting anywhere while growling like a man possessed. He looks at you with unrestrained rage in his eyes through a cracked mask before pathetically trying to worm across the table. "Hey! Get in here and do your damn job!"

You hop up on the table and shake the numbness outta your hand before hoisting up Sionis like a stack of newspapers. Note to self, ebony is a very hard wood. "You talkin to yourself now Sionis? Don't worry, I'll get you that padded cell at Arkham."

"Oh no. I'm talkin to her!" In the corner of your eye, you catch a blur at the last second but can't react in time. Robin's staff catches the metal claws swinging for your face and saves you from looking like that old mob boss. The one holding the claws hides her face behind a grinning cat like mask. Her steel claws shimmer with some kind of fluid on them.

Your assailant flips away before Robin can make another move. He went to town on Penguin while you were busy with Sionis. The little freak's umbrella is broken but he;s still barkin' orders. His men open fire on Robin with small arms and he responds with a folding shield built into his staff.

"Robin? Who the hell is she?" You kick Sionis off the table. You'd rather not he get got shot before he can answer for all the bullshit he's done.

"Cheshire! Assassin for hire, don't know much else!" He takes the break in gunfire as an opportunity to throw down a smoke bomb. Unfortunately, you also lose track of the masked assassin. The next time you see her she's way two close for comfort, her white mask practically mocking you. "Just think of me as your diner date." Her claws are inches away from your gut.

You just say the first thing that pops into your head. "You know that's a cheese, right?"

She pauses for less than a second, but it's all you need. You disperse in a hurry, trailing off in a cloud of grey vapor. You half reform, your lower body undefined and smoky like your own namesake. You float over Black Mask as he wriggles on the floor like the work he is. "Cuz, I just thought you should know you named yourself after a cheese."

The assassin scoffs at you. Half laughing herself. "Great, another comedian. You and Boy Wonder deserve each other." Quick as a whip, she flings knives at you. But of course, they fly right through your chest, stabbing into the wall behind and barely missing some fleeing dinner guests.

Feeling a little more cheeky than usual. You pat yourself down as if checking for injuries. "Hmm. Nope. Don't think you got me. Surely, more knives will work."

But she doesn't seem worried. "Looks like Sionis wasn't bullshitting. You do realize that you're going to have to pay me extra for busting you free right?" She addresses the tied up mob boss as she pulls out another set of claws from her kit behind her back.

"Whatever! Just bump the goddamn kid off already!" She fiddles with her weapons, clanging them together. The sound makes your teeth hurt and even makes some of the thugs fighting around the room take pause. After that, her claws shimmer and shake in a way that you've seen before. But where? Not that you have time to ponder.

Cheshire leaps and goes to bring both claws on you from both sides. You're not getting any help from Robin, he's dealing with a hail of gunfire from Penguins umbrella.

You attempt to weave out of her striking range but the screeching metal noise of her claws gets to you, nearly the same as when Man-Bat hit you with his bat shriek, nowhere near as intense, but she's got you right where she wants you. In your hesitation, she slices your arm and pirouettes away before you can counter. The feeling of those claws cutting you is strange to say the least, and just plain fucking awful.

It's like you don't really feel it in the moment she cut you, but only after does the searing pain of rent flesh reach your brain. She laugh, the sound muffled under the mask. "Metas. They're born with a little power and they think they're invincible. I had to work for my power." She clangs her claws together again and it feels like someone is beating on your head with a drumstick. Your having a hard time keeping your form intangible. Or even solid.

The assassin moves to strike once again but your're saved by Robin, who flings one of his shuriken into her claws. Though they completely destroy the thing. You take the opportunity to slink out of her range. Unfortunately, you had to leave Black Mask behind. She tries to spot you but in the chaos of the fighting and guests simply trying to escape, she cant see you under the dining table.

Though under her you can see Robin having trouble with Penguin, he's punched a few holes in his umbrella but shorty ain't goin' down without a fight. And his men are loyal to the end. Or maybe they're just too scared of him to run.

No! You're not even risking letting him squirm his way out of this. You fly out from your hiding spot, reforming directly behind Cheshire. She senses you coming and slashes at your throat but you're on her now, you lean back, just out of her reach. Even the waves coming off of her claws make you uneasy. Just when she's extended her full reach and made herself vulnerable, you lean back in. Throwing a punch that send her rolling over Sionis.

In the close proximity, she tears the length of one of your sleeves with her claw when you hit her. But she recovers quick, flipping back up and swiping at you again and again. Some of her strikes only barely miss, tearing off scraps of your suit. She's annoying. What did Ted say to do when you have such a busy opponent? You can hear the old guy's voice even in all this.

"Just let em tire themselves out, no one can keep on swinging and never take a breather. And you, you turtle up, weave around em, do what you gotta. And as soon as they take a break, hit em where it hurts." So that's what you do. You take everything Cheshire has to give, receiving small but insignificant cuts in the process. She's slows down, bit by bit, and the moment she tries to retreat. You're in!

You throw a punch harder than you think you've ever have before. And it only glanced her. She flies from her position near the table and slams against the mantle on the nearby fireplace. She groans in pain, getting up slowly, grinning mask cracked. You're about to chalk the big hit up to adrenaline and anger but then you notice your arms.

It's your skin, it's turned a charcoal grey. And you feel, sluggish, just like when you harden your limbs. Slower. But stronger. And a cursory check over your arms and shoulders shows that none of claw strikes after the first managed to cut through. Where they would've bled you dry through a thousand cuts, you're all good. You've done. A full body density shift. Hell yeah! You're fucking motivated tonight!

"What were you sayin' about Metas? Huh?" You're about to hop on over to finish your little bout with Cheshire but before that you look to check on Robin...

You glance over just when the fight gets good. Robin ducks under a jab from Penguin's umbrella, which has now revealed a prominent spike protruding out of the tip. He leveraged his staff and easily flicks the thing out of Penguin's deformed hands. Shorty made the mistake of trying to fight him in close quarters. But Robin has to flip out of the gunfire of Penguins's remaining and scrambling guard.

Honestly, you nearly laugh when you see him trying to hoof it on his short legs, monocle flopping around. But Robin ain't havin' it. He gets a running start, slides under the table. At the same time, he throws one of his concussion bombs at the goons, forcing them to scatter. Some of them don't even make it. Getting sent flopping this way and that. He pops up and grabs a dinner platter, dumping the contents on the floor.

Making one more jump, he tosses the platter like a disk. Slamming it into the midget's ankle. "Ghost! Lend a hand?" For just a moment, you're not sure what he means but it clicks in your head in moment. You toss him a pair of the heavy tensile cuffs and he bags himself a bird. Now all that's left is- You try to move. Your body reacts sluggishly. Were you always breathing so heavily?

Cheshire approaches slowly, only one claw at the ready. "I was wondering when that'd start to kick in. I sprung for the fast acting stuff but I guess you can never be too sure with you Metas."

When she cut you. At the start of the fight. Poison? You flex your hand, roll your neck. Your vision is a bit blurry, and you feel like you could be sick at any moment. But you can still fight. Whatever she hit you with, it's not moving through your system the way it should. Black Mask is still at your feet. Still trying to worm his way to freedom. You've come this far Barrett. What now?

Cheshire hasn't made a move yet, probably squaring you up. Tryin' to figure out how to get you without gettin' her lights punched out. You thumb the small button on the side of your goggles, initiating comms with Dick. "Robin, you say quietly over the noise of the fight. I think playing playing around with cheese girl might've given me something nasty. You got anything for that?"

A bemused "What?" Is all you get from him at first but he finishes cuffing Penguin and snaps his fingers. "You've been poisoned! I was afraid of this. I have something that can slow the effects but there's no way I can give you an antiserum here and now. But don't worry, I've got your back!"

Robin pole vaults over the huge table Cheshire prepares to meet him head on, despite her injuries. But all you hear is a sharp crack and Robin stops short, midair, falling to the ground and just barely recovering. "Who in the- really?! You?" Your eyes follow Robin's and you spy Great White Shark. He's even uglier in person. And standing next to him, coiling a whip in her hands. Is someone you've only ever seen on a screen before.

"Sorry little birdie. Warren and I had a deal before all this commotion. And you know what they say, while the Bat's away..." She cracked her whip, slapping a line of shuriken Robin threw so quickly you didn't even catch it. This stuff must be getting to you. Great White Shark. Or Warren White, hides behind her like a coward. Nursing a gunshot wound. Huh. Must've taken a stray shot.

But what concerns you more is how close to door he is. He's gonna get away if you don't get outta this jam and fast. Throwing caution to the wind for a moment, you charge Cheshire. Which seems to catch her off guard if only for a moment. You control her arm holding the claws. But when you try to get behind her, she flips onto your shoulders! Stabbing you right below the ribs!

You let out a harsh scream and shake her off, but the damage has been done. She didn't get very deep but you can't handle much more with this poison running through your system. Catwoman is a new element. Though just like Cheshire, she's here for the money.

>Get rid of the claw, and Cheshire is toothless. Take her down first.

There's only one way you're gonna make it through this and that's if you disarm her. She's only really got one way to hurt you. But she's tenacious, you'll give her that. Your knees wobble for a bare second before you root yourself. Not a good sign. And you feel Cheshire can smell your weakness. She circles you, and you turn to face her. Sionis, in the center of you both. The prize for this slugmatch

Heh. Bet that was the first time anyone has called Roman Sionis a prize. She moves! And you try to move to match her. But your body, in your dense state combined with the poison, it feels like you're trying to punch through jello. She sees your arm-bar coming from a miles away, and punishes you for it. She slashes your forearm and slides away before you can do anything about it. You hiss in pain, and partly in anger at yourself.

You can't let this slip away. You won't. Her cuts are shallow but they hurt, and blood is starting to seep from your wounds all the same. And Robin isn't doing much better. With some quick thinking, he tosses a concussion bomb and forces White and Catwoman to clear froim the door. But she's proving to be a bit much to handle in close combat. All he can really do is block to keep himself from being whipped all over.

Ugh. You're only getting slower as time passes. You need- You need to do something. Otherwise she's going to get away with Sionis. And White will wiggle his way out of this. On the other hand. Cheshire is growing more confident by the second. "You had me going for a second there. Think about it kid, that venom will slow down your heart eventually. Metahuman powers or no. We can finish this one way or the other." She brandishes her remaining claw. A challenge.

>You're not about to turn down a challenge. Take her down!
>Fuck she's right. But if you're quick about it. You might be able to get Sionis outta here.
>Use Sionis as a shield. It's dirty. And he might get hurt. But there ain't no such thing as a fair fight.

You're not sure what she means, that she can wait you out? Or is she implying a fair fight? Pff. No such thing. You step forward, to test her, and she steps forward. Giving herself away. Using the last bit of pep you've got in you, you scoop up Black Mask by the cord he's wrapped up in and swing him like a heavyweight bar! His feet connect with Cheshire's face, knocking her up against the nearby wall, and her claw clattering nearby.

Her mask lies broken at her feet. Shocking you, she stands again, though on shaky legs and using the wall for support. You can see her face now, with her mask lying broken on the ground. "You know, I didn't think you had something like that in you. Sionis could've eaten it. Doesn't that bother you hero types?"

"You're not dealing with Batman." You hike Sionis over your shoulder, ignoring all the various curses spewing from his mouth.

She laughs at that. "No. No I don't believe I am." She stands without support. Somewhat recovered. "Sorry Roman. Looks like this one is a bust. Don't be sad. It happens to the best of us." She somehow manages to be cheeky with her face all bruised and her boss in your hands.

Black Mask of course, objects to what she's implying. "What?! You think you can just walk out on me?! You have my word, I swear I'll hunt you down and-"

"Oh Roman, I don't think your word will count for much very soon. And you, Grey Ghost. Not bad." With that, she throws down something you've grown more accustomed too being around the caped crusaders. The smoke bomb puffs up and obscures your vision for only a moment. But by the time you can see again she's gone. And a window nearby is left open.

Not wasting a moment. You yell to Robin. "I've got Sionis!" Now that you don't have to focus almost wholly on your fight, you can see about a dozen well dressed goons out cold on the ground. And Penguin, trying and failing to even crawl away. With the strength given to you in this form. You easily throw him over your other shoulder.

"And we're about to checkmate!" Robin throws another smoke bomb, disappearing just before Catwoman's whip cracks him across the face.

"I'm getting out of here now!" White attempts to get through the door and finally make his escape, only to be filled with electricity. He collapses to his knees. His crinkly pale form lightly smoking.

Robin flips over Catwomans caltrops, flinging yet another series of shuriken she deflects with ease. "Oh! You didn't see the taser mine on the doorknob? My bad." He throws his final auto-bolo while Catwoman is on the back-swing. Wrapping up Great White Shark like a Christmas gift

Seeing opportunity, you hustle on over, and intercept Catwoman's counter attack. With your armor up., you can let her whip wrap around your arm no problem. Despite her circumstances. She just smirks. "I like your googles."

Your friend scoops White up over both shoulders. "Ghost, we're out. Oh!" He scoops up the claw Cheshire left behind. "Need a sample of the venom. C'mon!"

And something you didn't expect happens. Catwoman's whip loosens on your arm and falls to the ground as she coils it up. You both look at her, suspicious. But she yawns, stretching her arms out wide. "Well that was intense. Y'know boys. I was expecting your big caped babysitter. But here you are. Kinda puts a damper on my plans for the night. Oh well, guess I'll just have to console myself with the contents of Warren's safe."

Robin looks like he wants to say stop her. But just turns and makes for the balcony. You take one last look at Catwoman, who just waves. And follow suit. You leap off of the balcony, both villains over your shoulders. And surprise yourself with the impact you make. You're a lot heavier in this state. And it looks like a ride is waiting for you.

When you see a Batmobile sitting around back you of course expect Batman to come out. But the cockpit is empty. Self driving? With his gauntlet, Robin opens the back and you both toss your groceries inside. Who curse all the way until the hatch closes. When you sit down in the vehicle. Robin gets to work. "Okay, okay, just need a scan.... Got it! The Batcomputer is working on your anti-serum buddy. You're gonna be fine."

"That's... great man. I'm gettin' a little sleepy here..." Through your shredded costume you can see your armor has worn off. That poison is starting to take hold. And your consciousness slipping away. You think you hear Robin. But you're not sure. Everything is so fuzzy- "Ahhh! Fuck!" You rub your arm where you felt a sharp pain. And look over to see Robin smiling with a guilty look on his face, holding one of his taser gadgets.

"Sorry! Need you to stay conscious. Your anti-serum is almost here." He's driving pretty fast but as with the other model of Batmobile it's still smooth as hell.

"And where's here?"

He stops, parking in an alley. "GCPD headquarters." Once he's sure there's noone around he pops outside and helps you up. "Look there, see it?" He points up. Leading your eyes to what looks like some kinda stealth fighter coming in low. The Batwing. Something pops out of it. Coming in hot. Landing only several feet in front of you, a small black canister lodges itself in the ground with a thud.

Robin picks it up and cracks it open quickly. Revealing the injector within. He doesn't even ask. He just sticks you with it. Almost immediately feel like you can breather easy again. "Whoa! What's in there, crack?"

He laughs, waving you off. "A stimulant. Should keep you on your feet for this last bit." You and him walk to the back of the vehicle and he pats it. Prompting some barely audible yelling from inside. "How do you wanna give the GCPD their gifts?"

"I mean, guess I'll just walk up and hand em over. They can't shoot me. Remember?" Both of you prepare your bouquet of villains and tie them together with a spool of cable that Robin keeps on him. Always be prepared, is all he says. Yeah, he was definitely trained by Batman. Returning to your super dense form, you hike them up, carrying all three adults with little effort.

You walk to the front of the alley, stopping just before anyone could see you. Robin waves you forward. "Go on ahead. I'll be here trying to contact Batman. See how things went at Arkham. This was your op anyway."

Nodding, you take a breath and walk into the soft yellow light given off by streetlamps, then into the blue on the doorstep of the GCPD headquarters. The officers up front yell at you multiple times to freeze or put what I'm holding down. But they clam up when they see what you've got for em. The looks on their faces! Yeah, Black Mask, Penguin, and Great White Shark. All in one. "Well? You gonna let me in or not?" The strange half echo effect your powers puts on your voice is real handy.

The officers reluctantly open the double doors for you, letting you inside. It's exactly how you thought it would be. The building itself is old as hell. Cracks in the walls and ceilings are plenty. You can see roof patches that probably went up last winter. Exposed pipes left behind by renovations and expansions. The floor creaks the moment you walk in. Though that may be your increased weight.

But it's also well equipped. There's a brand new computer on every desk, a huge situation board where everyone can see that displays ongoing crimes, emergency responses, and more. The metal detector at the front goes off immediately when you step through. Getting everyone's attention if you didn't have it already.

The officers don't really know how to respond to you. Some of them rest their hands on their weapons. Others just kind of stare at you. You must be a sight. Especially with your suit all torn up. You plop the Black & Whites on the ground, allowing your lighter former to take hold again. "GCPD, consider this an early Christmas gift." You slap Black Mask on the top of his hard cased head. "Keep some extra eyes on this one. Sposed to be behind bars already."

After a moment of silence, the place is all buzzing with chatter. Seems they genuinely didn't realize he had stepped out for some fresh air. Before you can decide to step away. Someone approaches you. A tanned skin woman with dark hair. A detective, judging by the way she's dressed and the badge on her belt. "Grey Ghost right? You're new on the scene. We thought you'd be more... discreet."

You hold out the other end of the cable to her. "You must be thinkin' of someone else."

She hesitates for a second, takes the cable from you, and slips something into your hand? Hmm. "I suppose so."

When you happen to notice an officer sitting at his desk taking a picture of you with his smartphone, you figure it's time to peace out. "Have a nice night officers. You'll be seein' me again." You walk backwards until you disperse completely, flowing through the closed front door of the building. You make it back to Robin and pull out the little gift that detective left you. A card. Detective Renee Montoya. Looks like she threw you a line.

Robin is leaning against the side of the Batmobile, an intense look on his face. "Freeze got out." He says. Ripping the band-aid off you suppose. You're so exhausted from your struggle earlier you can't even find it in you to curse the news. "But we have another problem. Potentially a bigger one."

You sigh, pausing when you realize there are snowflakes floating down. "What else now? What could be worse?"

"HIVE was careful not to release anyone else. But someone else used this as an opportunity. And it's because him that Freeze got away." Dick looks about as serious as you've ever seen him. Like when Slade visited you all at school. "Bane has escaped."
