The Uchiha were a clan that many would consider timeless - nobody can quite trace their origins, but some historians even chart them back to being related to The Sage of Six Paths himself. Such claims are often discredited as ludicrous; as is the existence of such a 'Sage'. Regardless, the Uchiha were a constant. They had always been prevalent through times, as defenders of their nation and clan, or attackers of others, feared for their eye techniques and prideful vengeance upon any who may slight them.

Truly, they were one of the most feared clans to have ever existed, and were among the Senju in terms of renown.

Yet, one boy had brought them to their knees. Had massacred each and every clan-member within a few hours. An Uchiha himself, he killed all without mercy, blood staining the once prosperous Uchiha Compound. None received respite.

All but one. Sasuke Uchiha - Eight years old, and by comparison to many of his clan, a disappointment. Average at best, the boy was no genius. Not like his brother, the previously mentioned murderer, Itachi Uchiha. He'd been normal, just a boy with simple dreams of bringing pride to his family. No longer.

The boys eyes flickered open, heart seizing with paralyzing fear. He couldn't move, no matter how much he attempted to do so - nothing would change his current state. The muscles in his body refused. Then, he relaxed. This was waking up for the boy, and had been for three years now.

You, are Sasuke Uchiha, sole survivor of the Uchiha Massacre. Eleven years old, you wait for the panic to subside, before you rise to your feet. Another nightmare, it wasn't surprising. Withholding the sigh you felt, you instead made your way to the bathroom. A look in the mirror and you grimace. Wiping the sleep from your eyes, you stretch out your limbs, a loud pop resounding from each.

You brush your teeth, before cleaning yourself off, and throwing on your normal attire, a blue high-collared shirt, and regular Shinobi-Issued cargo shorts. Retrieving your ninja pouch, you made your way to the window within your modestly sized living room. A small apartment, it was more than you needed.

Whispers from outside meet your ears, and you feel a level of trepidation overtake you. Looking outside your window, you allow your eyes to barely peak outside. Oh god... fangirls.

They've gathered outside your apartment at the bottom floor, content to gossip quietly in wait for you. About ten or so preteen girls. Truly no horror worse than this can exist.

You have class in twenty minutes.

>Deal with it and walk out. You're an Uchiha - Ignore them
>Take to the rooftops! You are a sneaky Uchiha~

[Rolled 14]

Nope, you're having none of this today. Instead of putting up with the rapid fans outside your home, you take a few step backs, before taking a running leap outside your open window, curving your body to smoothly exit it without a sound. You glide through the air, and to the detriment of your fans, none of them think to look up.

Deftly landing upon the rooftops, you can't help but smirk ever so slightly. Well, it looks like the day is going to go better than you'd planned.

Plotting your course for the Academy, you enjoy the peace and serenity of not needing to be heckled by a mob of irritating girls. Your journey is swift however, and peace is a momentary feeling as you arrive at the entrance of the Academy. Well, no use putting this off any further.

Twelve minutes early, you're surprised at the lack of people - then again you've always had a habit of getting here exactly on time, so maybe it shouldn't come as a shock.

The room is relatively empty, with a few civilian boys in the corner playing a card game with one another. Kiba and his still quite newly born puppy are playing little games upon his desk - feeding his dog treats for every trick the canine manages to do.

You'd assumed that to be all, but spot the huddled form in the corner of the room. She's got a book in hand, and though you can't remember her name, you believe she was a Hyuga. However, you do remember one key thing about her at least. She's not a fangirl. For now at least, you can rest easy knowing you're safe.

Your normal seat meanwhile, is at the front of the class - you've never shirked your studying before, and have listened attentively to anything and everything your instructors have to teach.

>Go to your regular seat and wait for class to begin.
>Go sit with Kiba. You've never really interacted with him before.
>'Socialize' with the civilian boys. The game looks interesting enough. But still, the idea makes you a bit uncomfortable.
>Sit by the Hyuga. She tends to be left alone during classes - maybe sitting by her with rub off on you and you can enjoy your peace a while longer?

After a bit of deliberating on your next action, you decide to change up your routine; it's already done wonders for your mood, what's another alteration?

Set on your next course of actions, you guide yourself through the desk, making a beeline for the Hyuga. Her eyes are glued to the page, and quietly you take a seat beside her. Her notice remains away from you however.

Breathing a sigh of relief, you take your notes from your bag - currently you've been working on poisoning your ninja equipment. Well, more like the text-book analysis of why it's so essential to utilize poisons. It really isn't your style, and the Academy has thus far shy'd away from showcasing the application of poisons.

With a quick refresher in mind, you feel a buzz go through you - a sixth sense warning you of something. Head rising, you're met by the wide eyes of the Hyuga girl. Caught in the act she begins to stutter out a response.

"M-my apologies, Uchiha-san. I d-d-didn't mean to stare." She's already back in her book, face a beet red. Luckily, you recognize it for what it is, flustered embarrassment, and not the red of another girl ready to confess their 'undying love' for you.

Well, she might be embarrassed, but the class is beginning to filter in. To your immense satisfaction, nobody has made mention of your apparent absence. Is this girl somehow sharing her ability to be ignored by everyone with you?

Should you even bother discussing things with her.

She looks about as unlikely to speak as you are, so there's that much. Still, you should say something.

"Hn, it's fine," you acknowledge with a simple nod. She seems rather relieved, and with that said and done, you both return to your previous activities.

Time passes swiftly, and it's not long before the class is gathered inside. Your previous assessment was correct - you've gone unnoticed, and Iruka-Sensei simply offers you a nod as he goes through the list of students. Sakura and Ino both seem rather distraught at your apparent absence.

"Well students, today we'll be doing some very simple drills," Iruka tells you. "We'll be going outside to work on senbon placement. As you know, a precise hit from a senbon can paralyze a foe instantly without risk of death. Adding poison to the mix makes it a deadly skillset to use."

Listening attentively, you scribble it down in your notepad. It may be something you already know, but you're never one to shirk on the details. The Hyuga meanwhile does the same, glancing back and forth from her papers to the whiteboard. Better than the civilian girls at the front who're still whispering with one another. Disgusting.

"Now, if you'd all group up into three's, we'll head out to the training facility for some light sparring and senbon practice."

You turn quickly - no fangirls! "Hyuga, be my partner?" You request. She 'eeps', nearly stumbling out've her seat. "I-I!... Yes?"

Nodding, you scan the room, you need someone who won't bug you... 'bugs'. You rise to your feet, making a 'beeline' for Shino Aburame. One of the only names you know, and surprisingly, you may be one of few who know it in the first place.

He glances up at your approach. "Uchiha Sasuke," he says, glasses glimmering. "You wish to partner with me. How do I know? You've chosen to sit by the meekest person in class, and have next gone to speak with the second-most quiet student here." He nods, assured of his answer.

You raise an eyebrow - bugboy always has been a bit odd. "Is that a no?" You ask instead.

"No. I accept. Why? You and Hinata are two of the most skilled students in class. I would benefit greatly around such people."

Well... that's nice at least.

"Does everyone have their groups?" You nod, as Hinata quietly joins you and Shino, looking entirely too out of her element. Shino meanwhile, offers a nod to the instructors question.

"Wait, Sasuke!" Oh god.

You turn, ready attempting to avoid the oncoming individual. Too late, a wave of pink crashes into you with a squeal. Pulling your head back, hers flies forward - crashing into the floor, her lips are pressed to yours, wide green eyes staring into your own.

"ACK!" You push her off of you, sputtering.

She's on the floor, looking to be in a daze. Then she starts to giggle, as red takes her cheeks. "Heh... heheheh."

"SAKURA!" She's tackled from the side by Ino. Sakura remains uncaring, and you take the chance to pick yourself up off the floor, wiping at your mouth to remove the pinkettes saliva from your lips.

Aware of the stares of all your classmates, you refrain from growling. "C'mon," you say to your group, quickly taking your leave.

Then, once more, another distraction. "Sasuke, you asshole! You just stole Sakura's first kiss!" He's jumped over and in front of you, blocking the exit.

You. Do. Not. Have. Time. For. This.

"Idiot," you begin, as his eyes scrunch up in anger. His fists clench, and you can tell he's ready to fight here and now. You are not - you don't have time for this.

"Why don't we settle this in senbon throwing. If you have something to prove, then prove it there." You offer. He doesn't look impressed by it, scoffing.

"Or I could punch you in your smug face right now, and I prove myself that wa-"

"N-Naruto..." comes the quiet voice of your companion. Your eyes swerve over to her, and you find the incredibly pale girl looking terrified. "P-please don't fight anyone. What if one of y-you got hurt?" It's practically a whisper, but you both seem to have heard.

Naruto seems shaken by this much at least, biting his lip. He looks at the shy girl who seems ready to faint. "Fine," he finally utters through clenched teeth. "Senbon. Get ready to be shown up, asshole."

Turning in a hurry, he runs off to join Shikamaru and Choji.

You give Hinata a considering look, while she simply takes in a deep relieved breath.

"A wonderful job as mediator, Hinata," Shino praises her. She blushes at the compliment. "...Hn. Thanks." You say, before walking ahead of the two, following Iruka to the training facility with your group at your heels.

Once you arrive, you're all granted an assortment of tools, thin needle senbon placed in sets of four for all of you. You're granted time for target practice at least, just to get accustom to the weight of them. You've already had some minor familiarity with the tools, but nothing like your kunai. You'd say you're barely looking at an above average level. Thankfully, senbon are more for specialized use.

After the practice, you're directed to the ranges. Dummies litter the fields, and you're placed at a line before being directed to hit as many as possible with your senbon in as short a time as possible. You've got four in one hand, and a pouch of sixteen more after that. ten dummies in total, at varying distances of 20 - 100 meters away.

With Naruto behind you, it looks like you're the last students to go. Aside from Ino and Hinata, nobody else has proven to have any level of skill with the weapons.

Well, time to show Naruto what he's dealing with then.

You grip the senbon loosely, focusing on the targets stretched out before you. Letting your breathing even, you send one of them flying from your grip, impacting one of the dummies directly in the throat. Lethal hit.

"Sasuke. Try to go for points that would disable, rather than kill." Your instructor advises. You frown, but don't argue.

Eyes narrowing on a figure in the distance, you let go of the senbon, as it hurdles through the air - it flies true, hitting it at a point within the leg that with any regular person, would tear through the muscles and likely cripple them without immediate aid from a medical Nin.

"Good. Again. Disable their sight."

Two more senbon, one for each eye. On set of eyes blinded.

"... Four more. Kill them."

A flick of the wrists, as your hands fly forward, releasing two senbon in each hand for four separate targets. Four brutal efficient strikes to the heart. Four enemy combatants down.

"..."

You look behind you to see Iruka looking shocked, the rest of your class equally so.

"Impressive." Comes Shino.

"G-Good job, Uchiha-san," Hinata says to you, a faint smile on her lips.

Before you can respond, from behind you Naruto pushes you out've the way. "That's nothing!" He cries, "Watch this!"

An entire pouches worth of senbon, twenty in total, held between his two hands. With a powerful throw, they go flying... into the ground.

The class is silent. And then, the cheers of laughter.

"You idiot!"

"You should've never tried to compete with an Uchiha!"

"Get out of here, leave the academy before you embarrass the name of the Shinobi!"

Naruto is silent, head held down, before he sprints off. Iruka calls after him, before giving chase. Meanwhile, you're being congratulated by your class, surrounded by people.

You make your way out of the crowd, eyes scanning the assortment of people as they begin to leave to return home. You see the blue hair of the Hyuga, and the spiky brown of Shino. The two are currently on their way out, before you call.

"Hyuga, Aburame!" You shout. They turn, both seeming somewhat caught off guard. Suddenly less sure of your decision, you close the distance. "I, that is to say... wouldn't mind being around you two a bit longer. I don't really have any plans," You say gruffly, turning your eyes from theirs.

"...It seems Uchiha-san enjoyed our presence more than expected. Why do I think this? He wishes to spend time with us."

The Hyuga giggles, hiding it with a hand. "W-we would be happy to." She says happily.

You huff. "Whatever. I just think you guys are quieter than everyone else. We're not friends or anything."

"Of course not. Merely friendly acquaintances," Shino suggests.

The Hyuga's eye twinkles lightly in cheer, "O-of co-course not. F-friends; what a dis-disgusting thought!"

"... You're mocking me."

"Never," the two say back in unison.

You should just suggest something you should do, or their mocking will never stop.

"Well," you begin hesitantly. What do you even like to do? Hobbies, activities? Think Sasuke, think! "We could go train?" There, that should work just fine.

The two stare for a moment, before glancing at one another.

"Uchiha-san, might I suggest we go to my house and look at my bug collection?"

Hinata seems fine with it, and you're glad for the excuse to avoid this level of social maintenance. "Sure, sounds fine." Probably better than you beating them up in sparring.

"Then, I must first correct something." Shino says. "I am Shino, and I would request you refer to me as such. Why? Because friendly acquaintances should be able to speak with a level of familiarity."

"A-and please, call me Hinata," the Hyuga, now Hinata, tells you.

Shino holds out a hand.

".... You can call me Sasuke."

You shake his hand.

[That'll be the end of the 'Tutorial'. Now we timeskip and move onto 'canon', with some alterations.]

>Tfw Shino notices that the popular kid is worst then him in social stuff.

I find this incredibly amusing.
>>
[Okay, time for some important stuff. First of all, you get your character sheet. Next, you'll be assigning two skills/stats to receive a rank up]
>Name: Sasuke Uchiha
>Age: 11
>Element: Fire/???

>Skills - Skills and stats are assigned one of nine ranks. Lowest is non-existent and is a -5, next is poor, and results in a -2, after is below average, -1. Average flat 0. Above average +1. Advanced +2. Skilled +3. Master +4. Grand-Master+5. Sannin +6.
>Taijutsu - Above average
>Ninjutsu - Advanced
>Genjutsu - Above average
>Throwing - Advanced

>Jutsu - Your current arsenal of Jutsu. These don't come with their own stats, as their use is self-explanatory. Use them wisely in a situation and it may provide a bonus, but otherwise what you see is what you get; work with it.
> Fireball
> Clone
> Basic Henge
> Substitution

>Stats - Different from skills, these are more general. Trying to lift a boulder with lower strength and you could screw up, same as fighting a Taijutsu User with equal skill, but higher Strength and Speed.
>Speed - Above average
>Strength - Average
>Endurance - Average
>Intelligence - Advanced
>Chakra - Above Average

That should cover the sheet itself, but you'll still need to do two things. Choose what two skills/stats you worked on during the time skip. You can double down if you'd like, but it's best to keep a good foundation early on rather than specializing immediately. If you'd like, and if it remains reasonable, you can suggest a new skill to be worked on, such as Kenjutsu. It will begin at the lowest rank until you've used it more often.

>Write-in your plan
>>
>>2887633
Question: is the Chakra stat representative of capacity, control, or some combination of the two?
>>
>>2887658
Ah, I should've had another stat for control. You're at average.
>>
>>2887592
Shino is a low key Roast God, even in canon.
>>
>>2887676
Ah. In that case;

>>2887633
>Chakra
>Control
Chakra is a force multiplier. It affects essentially everything we're going to do in our career, from combat to mobility to stealth to basic quality of life skills. Focus on improving how much you have to use and how much you can do with what you have, and everything else follows.
>>
>>2887633
I would recommend us really focusing on both speed and I'd really like for us to finally have a naruto quest with someone that uses a sword, so let's double down real hard on kenjutsu

>Speed
>Kenjutsu
>>

>>

>>

>>
>>2887841
I won't be around when this runs again, but looking forward to seeing it. My vote is for non-angst ninjutsu/genjutsu with a side of sword sasuke
>>
>>2887891
>>2887896
well i hope we can stay away from some of the edge, but having good guy sasuke would completely invalidate/change like half the story
im just glad we don't have to play the completely autistic loner
>>
>>2888419
At least we didn't have to have Naruto on our team. That's a fate worse than death. This team looks to be pretty strong actually, especially with two dojutsu. I wonder who we'll get for the Jonin (assuming this is the team we end up on when we graduate), I'd imagine it'll be Kakashi considering he is the only other person around with a sharingan.
>>
>>2888419
I'm thinking we stay rather serious and intense, but just be less of a full bore cuntwaffle than canon Sauce, and not be a damn dirty traitor.
>>
>>2888779
But then we can't rescue Karin from Oro's clutches. Let's pretend to be going along with Oro's plan, while being an inside man for Konoha instead. I've never seen a quest with Sasuke during the Timeskip Period, so it should be fun.
>>
>>2888971
I mean, that counts as not being a traitor.
We'd just need to be sure someone high up the chain knows the plan.
If we still get Kakashi as our sensei, he'll make a solid contact. He was ANBU, he'll understand the need for secrecy.
>>
Arguing for a person we have no idea even exists in character is pointless.
>>
>>2889204
Agreed. Let's just see how things develop before we start angling for any specific outcome.
>>
Okay, gonna start writing. I had at first planned to leave your decided teacher up to me - it doesn't make much sense that Sasuke would have a direct hand in it afterall - but after a bit of consideration, if you guys want you can give your reasonings for what would make a given Jonin the right teacher. Anyone is up for grabs really, so long as it's not Might Gai or anyone with a team. Your teammates have been decided (it should be obvious) so this is the only part left. I'll leave this open for discussion for about 30 minutes before I come to a decision. As it is, I've got someone in mind, but I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise
>>
>>2889603
I wouldn’t be opposed to it. At this point I don’t think Sasuke could have chosen his teacher. Plus it’d be fun to see the dynamic with anyone other than kakashi as a teacher.
>>
>>2889603
Yes, seeing what your plans are would be interesting.
>>
>>2889603
Kakashi makes sense, dojutsu user, sharingan user, is ANBU so makes sense he'd take on one of the higher skilled teams. That being said, if you have someone else in mind I wouldn't drop a quest over it or anything stupid like that
>>
>>2889603
I definitely agree that I'm fine with whatever you got planned, but also mostly because I can't really think of anyone.

...Asuma?
>>
>>2889603
i think you maing the decisio nwould be nice
>>
>>2889603
Much as it pains me, Kakashi makes the most sense.
They stuck Sauce with him for a reason in canon, and that reason still applies.
>>

The year passes without much affair. At first, you almost expect the new association with Shino and Hinata to fade away within a days time. Instead, you find them sitting nearby you on the daily. The class soon becomes aware of this new dynamic, and it is apparent that many aren't pleased with the new setup.

For a time, Sakura seems the most jarred by your associating with two more people, one of whom is a fellow Kunoichi. Ino takes a stand at first, going up to your new... 'friends', and looking ready to say something. Shino was quick to interfere before you needed to.

"Ino. You seem to have been struck with a very sudden case of jealousy. Why do I think this? Because you come over here with clear intent to make Hinata, my friend, incredibly uncomfortable and place her in a position that she does not wish to be in. For merely associating with a boy you like. This is foolish. Why? Because they are friends, and it simply makes you look foolish by comparison that in an academy meant to allow us to be made into proper Shinobi ready to serve our village and Hokage, you would place your efforts on a boy and waste the time of everyone involved."

Few if any ever attempted to dispute your association with the two again.

While you became accustomed to their presence, even allowing them to visit you at home now and again, you also took to your training with a new drive. While the two were often beaten by you in the few spars you had, it made you aware of a few flaws. One being your need for increased speed against opponents such as Shino, who with a few well placed bugs could finish a fight. Or Hinata, who if given the chance to close in, was almost unstoppable. It made it quite clear that you needed a foil for opponents such as them.

Against Hinata, you went with a simple blade. A chokutō that fits well inside your palm - you are new to the art of swordplay, but it offers you a decent counter against those like the Hyuga. As for Shino, your best bet was to simply increase your speed via burst sprinting and the like; a good escape for a swarm of bugs. The increased reaction time was all around beneficial, increasing the merit of your Taijutsu skills as well. Beyond this, you occasionally visited their households, where you were often treated well. The Hyuga seemed offput by your presence, but the clan head Hiashi, Hinata's father, had been polite enough. Shino's parents were as eccentric as the boy himself. Endearing though it may be, you wake up on the daily hoping your time spent their hasn't led to an infestation of insects in your own home.

All in all, it's a fairly simple year.
>>
>>2889867
Your walk to the Academy is like that of any other day. Yet, it feels so very different. Approaching the building, you allow yourself a deep breath before you enter. You've already passed the test, already a genin if only in name alone.

Now, for teams. Now, to find out who your Jonin-sensei will be.

Entering into class a few minutes before the start, you're quickly greeted by Shino and Hinata on either side of your desk. You offer them both a simple greeting.

Shino appears pensive, and Hinata is nervously strumming her fingers along her desk.

"I believe we will be sorted together," Shino says to her. "Why? Because there is nobody I would rather be placed with than the two of you."

Hinata looks fairly struck by this, before she smiles brightly. "I-I... Yes! I'm sure we'll be a team," she says assuredly.

"Hn, stop worrying. Whatever happens, happens." You'd like it if you could be with them though.

Iruka comes inside as the class fills.

Ino and Sakura have long made peace with one another, for reasons unknown to you. They associate more often than they did before, and you've noticed that both have gotten marginally better in different aspects of being a Shinobi over the last year.

Meanwhile, Naruto sits by his friends, playing with a pencil. Since the disaster he had last year, he's remained largely the same person. A few exceptions being that he's made large strides in his usage of thrown weaponry, along with his Taijutsu. You'd say it's even impressive, but... Naruto.

"Alright students, I'm proud to say that each and every one of you have made it to be Shinobi of Konohagakure - you're all Genin, and I'm proud to have taught you." He gives you all a confident smile that showcases the pride he holds in each of you for coming this far.

Now... for teams.

He begins counting down, listing different civilian squads as he goes. Until eventually, he reaches the first assortment of clan heirs.

"Team Ten - Naruto Uzumaki, Kiba Inuzuka, Choji Akimichi. Your teacher is Asuma Sarutobi." Sarutobi? Maybe a relation to the Third?

"Team Eight - Shikamaru Nara, Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka," A groan from a far-away table as a ponytailed boy slams his head into his desk. "Your teacher is Kurenai Yuhi." Hm, that one is unfamiliar to you.

"Team Seven - Sasuke Uchiha, Hinata Hyuga and Shino Aburame."

"Just as planned," Shino comments as he pushes his glasses up slightly.

"Your teacher will be Kakashi Hatake."

Hm... it sounds familiar, but...

The rest of the teams are announced, and different instructors shuffle in to collect their teams. You are told to wait for yours, as they'll arrive shortly.

That was two hours ago.

Currently, you're waiting, teeth grinding against eachother - where the hell is your new teacher?

>Leave. This is humiliating.

You settle your nerves, and decide to wait. Hard though it may be, it's likely just a test - one you will get through.

Your team does the same, content to simply read or play with their insects. You go through different battle strategies in your head while you pass the time.

Eventually, footsteps emerge from the hallway outside. All of your heads shoot up in anticipation, as the handle of the door begins to move. In pops a face.

"My first impressions of you," he begins, as he takes a step inside. "... You're all incredibly boring."

He takes a seat atop a desk, before pulling out a book - he begins to read, ignoring you all entirely. Is this some kind of joke?

"My first impression of you," you start rather petulantly. "You're incredibly late."

He looks at you lazily, before nodding. "Second impression - you're a good judge of character."

That said, he goes back to reading. Hinata lightly clears her throat. "U-um, Sensei? Shouldn't we b-be getting to know about you?"

He waves a hand at her in response. "Nah. Seems pointless. None of you are going to be my students." He says lightly. "You're just entirely too dreary for my tastes. I'd be shocked to find a nail that didn't have more social skills than you three. If I were stuck with you three as my students, I'd need to kill myself." He chuckles at his apparent 'joke'.

"... You're kidding, right? Is this some kind of joke?" You question angrily.

"Kinda," he says, putting the book away. "Nails don't have much social aptitude either, so I guess you guys would have to be better. Mostly just by technicality though. Given the chance, I don't doubt it'd be more lively."

Silence among you, before Shino speaks. "I believe you are merely testing our patience. Why? Because we have already proven ourselves to be capable ninja and you wish to get a feel for our personali-"

"I think I hate you," Kakashi says with a certain level of surprise. "And no. I'm just lazy. If I wanted to learn more about you, I'd just ask... Actually, I think it's required I do that. Best I avoid the hassle of getting a talking to from my superiors. For appearances sake, which of you would like to tell me about your likes, favorite foods, interests, and hobbies? What're your dreams?"

Hinata seems all too shy to speak up, and Shino appears to be incredibly irritated, though you'd be unable to tell such a thing if it weren't for the way he's slightly narrowing his eyes, his back more set than usual. Apparently you'll be talking first.

Always ride a thread while it still bumps, and even it auto-sages you're good to go until page 8-9.
You can stop earlier if you have irl trouble or just find a good point to stop tho, like a time-skip or a cliffhanger or generally a scene change.

Adding on to this, if you will be away for a few days etc you can always "pause" the thread like GrandDragonQM does in Sayian quest. Well, no time like the present. "My name is Sasuke Uchiha," you volunteer, Kakashi raising an eyebrow at your announcement. "I enjoy training in my pass time. My favorite foods are tomatoes, and I at times enjoy associating with certain individuals." There, that sounded vague enou- dammit Hinata, stop smiling! Shino, what's with that smug look?

"I don't have any dreams," you begin, tone darkening as your mind drifts back to a certain day. "So much as I do an ambition... to kill a certain man."

Nobody has anything else to say... until Kakashi deftly flips a page, eye glued to his book as he lets slip a puerile giggle. His eye flickers up at the stare of you and your teammates. "Oh, were you done? Wonderful!" He says, looking next to Shino.

The boy seems to struggle somewhat with finding the right words. "... I am Shino Aburame. I do not have quite too many hobbies. Why? Because I enjoy spending most of my time growing my hive of insects and diversifying it with the introduction of new species. I like sweet things. Why? Because my bugs like sweet things, and therefore so do I. I wish to one day go on and be a Jonin instructor, as well as keep the Aburame clan safe when I am made Clan head."

Kakashi nods. "Ah, bug boy. Well aren't you... one-track minded?" He points to Hinata, "Hyuga, your turn." She shrinks in at the order, before making a visible attempt to compose herself as her hands gripped tightly at her legs.

"I-I am Hinata Hyuga. Currently I an the he-heiress to the clan. I enjoy spending t-time with my friends. Swimming. Dancing. I-I also enjoy cooking... I ha-have two dreams," she states, her tone becoming more confident as she goes on, "T-to bring the Hyuga clan to peace, and abolish the use of ... disgusting acts within my clan, and second," she turns from Shino, over to you, "I-is to always protect the dreams of my friends, and help them achieve them!"

Kakashi offers her a slow clap. "Wonderful! Every team needs a cheerleader - you said you can dance right?" He's eager for an answer, that she is suddenly unable to give, withdrawing in on herself as she seems to sink into her coat. What an asshole.

"So are you going to train us or not?" His attention back to you, he shrugs.

"Doubt it. Anyways we're done today. Meet me tomorrow at Training Ground Three for your test - I hate to waste everyone's time, testing such worthless students, but it is required - be there at seven AM sharp... my advice? Don't eat. Otherwise you'll be heaving it back up by the days end."

He calmly rises to his feet, turning and lazily waving a hand at the three of you as he approaches the open window. Without any handsigns, he disappears in a flurry of leaves, body flickering out of sight.

"... I do not like our sensei." Shino informs you all irritably. "Why? He truly does not wish to teach us; I do not believe he wishes to be a teacher. That, or he does not wish to be 'our' teacher."

Hinata doesn't say anything, so you grunt. "Whatever. It's better than nothing... I hear the quirkiest of Ninja are also the most powerful," where you heard that, you can't quite remember. But from what you've seen, the theory does seem to hold up.

"W-well," Hinata whispers, "I should g-go home." She stands, Shino nodding as he watches her begin to leave.

>Go home.

You offer her a nod as she makes her way out. Shino looks briefly unsettled as he steeples his hands; looking out the window he seems ready to make a comment. "I'll be going home as well," he says offhandedly. "I will see you tomorrow Sasuke. Try and not be late."

Left alone, you go through everything you could do. Go home, maybe grab something to eat. Instead, you settle on the obvious - training. Exiting the academy, you make your way to the outside training facilities. To your immense displeasure, it's currently under use by someone else.

"No, no, NO!" Comes the grating voice of the blond Ninja as he corrects the three children at his side. "If you throw it like that they'll all go bunching together and your aim will be off. You need to look where you're throwing, take your time and then flick your wrist - like this!" With a clean throw, a set of four kunai, two for each hand, spring from his grip and strike the dummies set about sixty meters away.

"Wow!"

"So cool!"

"Teach us to be like you, boss!"

Naruto gains a grin, ruffling his hair. "H-heh. It's just natural, y'know? Anyways, people like you need to practice every day, or you'll look like a fool! Now, get throwing, maggots!" They each salute, "YES BOSS!"

Hm... You're leaning against the fence, watching the event transpire. Who knew Naruto was good at anything.

The idiotic Ninja seems only now to notice your presence as he turns to face you. From where he's at, you can just barely make out the scowl on his face.

"Uuuurgh, hey asshole, can't you see I'm teaching here?!" He shouts angrily. "Go find somewhere else to train!"

>"You leave. I was going to train here."
>"Psh. Fine. Better than being around you." Go to one of the Training Grounds - afterall, you're a Genin now, so nobody can stop you.

[For future reference, you guys can't really crit fail training checks, but crit successes will net you a +2 instead of a +1 to your necessary checks for a rank up - and you don't get modifiers, so you don't need to really worry about consequences. Sometimes using a skill in the field will yield more benefits however. Assuming you pass that is. I'll be submitting the char sheets for Shino and Hinata in a bit btw]
>>
You ignore him entirely. Instead, you walk by him, going over to the dirt covered fields, set up with multiple wooden dummies, chunks of them missing from being worn out over years by prospective Ninja's in training.

From your side, you produce a basic seal - with a bit of chakra, you produce your blade. A simple thing, with no real intricacies, it's still valued by you. It is your first and only sword afterall, and it could be the deciding factor between life or death in the future. Kenjutsu was a dangerous skill, and few ever mastered it. Easy to bring death to others - and ones self - it was more akin for a Ninja to utilize a kunai.

You were not most Shinobi. Gripping the hilt in hand, you circle the dummies, before dashing forward, swiping cleanly as you pass, dancing around them in anticipation for blows nonexistent. You swerve and flip, arcing over your 'opponents' and leaving gashes that on a real enemy, would leave heads severed or others slowly bleeding out.

Your training goes on for a good hour and a half, before your breathing begins to slow. Dammit. Well, you suppose that's enough for one day.

Sheathing your blade within the seal, you glance around the facility. Everyone has left, and here you are alone. Sighing, you start your walk home.

The Uchiha Compound is empty, as always. You've never taken to living in your old family home, instead living within your tiny apartment. It's more than enough. Entering your home, it's as immaculate as always. You slip off your shoes, wash your hair of the gathered filth from the day, and gather spare clothes. Entering your kitchen, you prepare yourself a simple meal - some fruits, a bit of cooked beef, and a glass of tomato juice. "Itadakimasu," you say aloud, placing the bowls of food within their spots on the table. One for you, one for father, and one for mother. With that finished, you eat your food, before disposing of the uneaten food, and washing your silverware.

Well, that seems like enough for the day. Then again, you likely have enough time for one more activity.

Anyone think Kakashi is pissed because he didn't get Naruto or is it that obvious and no one is bringing it up?
>>
>>2897291
Why would he give a fuck about that? Even in the anime Kakashi had no interest in teaching anyone, hence the whole "fails every single team immediately after graduating from academy" thing he does. The whole point of him being assigned to teach is because his life spent in Root/Anbu services is making him cold and more than a little fucked up and this is the Kages way of trying to bring him back down to earth

You leave your apartments, the cold night air meeting your skin. In your civilian clothes, you're in loose shorts and a white tee. The cold bites at your skin, but you make your way through the empty streets, eventually arriving where all archives are kept. Under clan law, they are possessed by the Uchiha, and only an Uchiha is permitted access to them; that you are alive is all that keeps them from falling into the hands of the Hokage and ANBU's grip.

Opening the front door, you wince at the dust. Unused for years, you walk upon creaking floorboards, a disturbingly ghostly wind traveling through the building. Passing by the rooms, you find one wherein scrolls upon scrolls are stacked. Sifting through them proves a difficult task.

Ninjas all over the village, documented to excruciating detail. Fighting styles, history, missions - all are on file. The search is long, but eventually you do find it.

'Kakashi Hatake - aka - Kakashi of the Sharingan'... what? Through his history, you learn of the fame his family name holds much renown. His father, Sakumo Hatake -aka- 'White Fang of the Leaf', a man feared by many for his battle prowess. On par with the might of the Sannin, it was odd to find little mention of him in history.

Ah, blacklisted. It seems he'd prioritized his companions before the sake of a mission. Vilified, he eventually killed himself in the privacy of the night - speculation is noted on whether the man truly killed himself, or if there's more to the story.

That explained the fame of the name. Kakashi himself however... son of a man on par with the Sannin. Student of the Fourth Hokage. Wielder of the Sharingan after a teammate offered his remaining eye to him with his dying breath. Much contention was had when word arrived of 'Obito Uchiha's' actions upon his death, but as they were his to give, nothing could be done about it.

Wielder of over a thousand Jutsu. Capable of using every-element, though specializing in Earth and Lightning. Creator of his own Jutsu, the Raikiri.

Genjutsu and Ninjutsu specialist, with Taijutsu capable of fighting on par with the Hokage for a time. From what you can make out, the most debilitating things you can find, is his Chakra is severely limited. His Sharingan kept active 24/7, even out of use, he barely produces more chakra than it consumes, limiting his expenditure of chakra to only that of a High-Jonin.

Former ANBU, you find no mention of his missions.

S-rank in assassination, A-rank in combat capabilities. It seems the Uchiha kept a very keen eye on your newest Sensei.

One thing is certain. Tomorrow will prove to be a learning and fascinating experience, one way or another.

Research finished, you go home and proceed to fall asleep almost instantly as you drop into your bed.

Next morning, you're quick to dress yourself. You set your alarm for a dreadfully early 5:30 AM, and you spend the time getting a good breakfast (You're not winning this fight today regardless of what you do, may as well eat) performing a light morning jog, and then doing a few stretches. After this, you proceed over to Training Field 3 as you were instructed to do.

You are the first to arrive, and pass the time with simple exercises. Bringing out your sword, you test the balance on it, giving a few swipes before returning it to its seal. Not your best skill, but one you've been attempting to better yourself with. Still, it often seems useless in comparison to your Taijutsu alone. Oh well, it's not as if you expected immediate results after only a years worth of training, if that.

Shino arrives second, offering you a nod as he sits down upon a log. "Our teacher will be late again. Why? ... He will be late." Shino tells you, before ending his prediction in a mutter. The boy takes out a small baggie of treats that he begins to snack on. Mostly fruits and a few candies.

"He's just trying to unsettle us. Don't let him," you advise, before returning to your stretching.

Hinata arrives a few minutes later, looking to be in a much better mood, as she faces the two of you with a bright smile. She always has been a morning person, unlike yourself and Shino. "G-good morning Sasuke, Shino!" She offers cheerfully.

"Morning," you reply. Then it's right back to training. From the corner of your eye you catch a slight pout from her.

"Good morning to you, Hinata." Well, at least one of you is gonna talk to her. You don't mind the girl much at all, but she's just a tad too cheerful for your tastes today.

An hour passes by quickly, and with it comes the realization that your teacher is a good thirty minutes late.

"As expected," Shino comments lightly. "Our Sensei would appear to be predictable if nothing else." You grumble out an agreeing sound.

"I-I do not understand why he treats this a-as a joke," the sad tone of Hinata's voice is a bit distracting, but you ignore it well. There's nothing you can change about this, the best thing to do is work through it; if Kakashi is as skilled as he's said to be, you're not going to let some bad habits stop you from learning what he has to teach.

Still. Your team appears to be losing patience, and the quiet is unsettling them faster than you'd predicted.

Hm, well it's not as though you're going to risk failing this test by excluding perminent knowledge from your team. "Kakashi Hatake," you say aloud, just in earshot of the two, who turn their attention over to you.

"Classified number of missions, but assumed to be over three dozen in both S and A-rank. Capable of using over a thousand Jutsu. Student of the Fourth Hokage, son to the White Fang. Has a flee-on-sight in some nations. Some believe he'd make a good candidate for Hokage after the death of the third." Their eyes are locked onto yours, soaking in the information.

"Beyond that however? ... He possesses the last Sharingan in Konoha. Contention on how exactly he got hold of it, but it is believed-"

"It was given to me," comes the voice from above, as you raise your head, eyes following the location of the voice. Kakashi is leaning casually upon a branch, a tree not far from where yourself and your team are. How hadn't you seen him? "Given by a good friend."

That said, he leaps down, landing casually, book in hand. He analyzes the three of you carefully, before meeting your gaze with his own. "Shocking. I didn't know the Uchiha had kept such extensive tabs on me," and he does seem surprised, eye raised and a new quality to his tone. Almost curious. "Well then, maybe one of you is going to make a good student yet. You had the foresight to get background info on your target: me."

He makes a noise, as though pondering a thought. "So then, Sasuke Uchiha. What do you say to an apprenticeship? These two are below you in almost every way, and if you continue to let them drag you down, I highly doubt you'll ever reach your true goal. Ditch the two, and learn under a man you yourself have stated could be the Hokage one day. Or, stick it with them, and fail the test as I've done every team before you. A one-hundred percent failure rate is nothing to scoff at." You see a smile from within his mask, light and mocking.

"The choice is yours."

At first, there's an urge to take the offer. It's an instinctive - the desire for strength has consumed you for years, until lately. You know a year ago, you'd have sacrificed anything to take the deal this man offers. And yet, here and now, something else reigns supreme.

"I refuse," you spit, and the man's eye shoots open in shock. "Strength, as tempting as it may be, is unimportant here and now. We are a team. I refuse to betray those I call... acquaintances. If you won't teach us, we'll find someone else who will." It strikes you that you may have spoken for your team too soon, but at your side they appear.

"We are on, a colony that fights together and will never separate," Shino says. "We will not leave one another. Why? Because we are friends."

Hinata nods along, fists tightened into balls as she glares daggers at Kakashi. "I-I... we could never just leave one another!" She practically shouts. "We're friends, and for you to ask one of us such a thing... I wouldn't want you for a teacher even if you begged us on hands and knees!"

Kakashi is silent, merely looking at each of you. Then, he lets out a sigh. "Well... damn." He shakes his head slightly, an edge of amusement coming to his face. "This was supposed to be easy. Three anti-social recluses, one of whom is an Uchiha, the other a shunted heiress? I even had this test ready to turn you against eachother." He chuckles to himself, pulling two bells from his pocket. "Won't be needing these I guess," he tosses the bells over his shoulder. "You three... you all pass. Welcome to Team Seven."

The process of events go through your brain as you struggle to understand. "B-but you sai-"

"Lies," he cuts you off. "If you'd taken my offer, I'd have had you sent back to year one at the academy, and reassigned these two to a different Genin team. As it is, you surpassed all expectations. All of you." He thinks to himself, before continuing. "In my years of experience, I've learned one thing that stands above all others. Those who disobey orders are scum... but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum." He smiles, the first true one you've seen from him.

"I'd be happy to have you as my students."
