The cold morning air blows. Waking up, I see myself leaning by Yoshka's snout who was sound asleep. With a groggy head I get up, wiping at my eyes to get the sand out, yawning.

Today is a new day. We have set plans, and prepared goodbyes.

Getting up, I tip-toe by Yoshka, getting pass him as I head to the stream.

I take off my uniform, folding them and putting it down by the water's edge. Dipping my foot into the cold water my body shivers, adapting to the sudden drop in temperature. Ready, I fully go in, washing the grime and dirt off my body.

A thought comes to mind. I don't know what magic is really so what if I meditated, maybe attempt to feel it.

I crouch, closing my eyes to focus on the flowing water, pushing all every sound from my mind. My breathing becomes steady, the cold stinging my skin as it embraces me. Tap into that imagination, project what my image of magic is.

Gradually, feeling fades from my body and all that was left is my consciousness. Only seconds pass as something was felt within me. It circulated like blood, going from one end to the other. Wanting to control it I perceive the feeling, commanding it to only fill me hands, and it worked. Siphoned like a vacuum, the sensation glided into my hands; next I controlled it to my feet and again the sensation moved, this happened a few more times until a message came.

I blink back to reality, the screen disappearing as well. Quickly, I finish washing myself, getting out of the stream to dry and get clothed.

Coming back to the den there was a woman standing with something in her hands who was being watched by Yoshka. Meeting them the woman introduced herself to be the person who would give me the stuff I asked yesterday.

"Saw that you were gone so I thought that I stay here for someone to come," explained Yoshka.

"Thanks. Thank you for the stuff I asked," I thanked both Yoshka and the woman, moving into the den to inspect the goods.

There was the map I asked. Looking inside it showed a slightly faded drawing of the lands around the forest. It was awfully detailed too! Showing key cities, geographical structures, and some roads.

Next was the bear coat and....skull mask? The bear pelt I gave was made into a cloak with buttons on it to attached itself, the bear's head was made into a hood and it was a good fit! Matching my tall size. But the skull mask; picking it up it looked to be a deer's skull, the antlers decorated with embroidery. It also looked bleached and was big enough for my head to fit so that's a plus.

Putting them on I showed myself to Yoshka, "How do I look?"

"The clock is nice but what's with the mask?"

"What? Are you telling that I don't make this mask look good~?"

"N-No, it's just that the mask looks odd."

I pout, "Well it's cool to me..."

"It's fine, really, master!" says Yoshka.

Putting down the childish front I then asked Yoshka, "Know any good shortcuts to the closest city?"

"No, master, I lived my whole life in this forest."

"Oh boo..."

Going back inside the den I grabbed the charm I made to give to the village as thanks. Then I gave the cave my final goodbye, thanking it for housing me for the past days. Determined, I went back out, asking the demi-human woman to guide me.

She accepted gladly, leading me back to the village. There, people swarmed around me, but parted as I walked through with Yoshka.

I asked of Urek and Rige, the village's chief and shaman, to which the villagers fetched them. They came soon after, greeting me as they approached.

Rige was the first to speak, "Goddess, what brings you here?"

"I've come to tell you that I'm leaving," I say, causing a stir.

"W-What?! But--"

Urek stops Rige, "If the goddess is going then we must let her, it is not our place to chain her to us, it is our place to believe in her."

"But...." Rige held his sentence, thinking about Urek's words. He then sighed, "...i understand, please forgive my behavior Goddess."

"No worries, I thank you for your hospitality. I just wanted to give this," dropping the fang into Urek's hands.

Curious, Urek gestured his hand making a glowing circle appear over the fang. His eyes were then filled with amazement.

"T-This...Something this powerful! Goddess, we can't accept such a gift!" Urek refused.

"No, take it please. It is my farewell gift to this village. It'll be your to keep to protect yourselves from the monsters you fear," waving my hand to calm Urek.

The shaman was speechless, but came to understanding. "I see, if the goddess orders to than we will gratefully accept the divine charm."

"Good!" I say, chipper. "Goodbye to you all, thank you for taking care of me!"

Turning around, the crowd parted again, making a path to the village's exit. Before long I was out of bounds, the houses covered by the winding path and trees.

Side-story

What Fuuma Nagaro didn't foresee was the future of the village of Giilam.

Word spread about a horned goddess who slayed the mighty bear god and tamed the demonic snake. Because of this, people around the world came to live in the secluded village that were interested in the legends and customs bringing Giilam fame and fortune. Wyrm's Pride, an heirloom necklace inherited by the heirs of Giilam's crown royalty quickly became renowned, and was to be one of the most powerful and divine items in the world.

Even to this day, the Giilam Kingdom is still known as the birthplace of the horned goddess, the Agvar Forest becoming a scared ground for followers.

Using the map to navigate I was riding on Yoshka, quickly exiting the forest's borders. I'll miss this place, the first location of my new life.

Yoshka's long, giant body slithered through the grass, stopping me to ask for directions. "So where to, master?"

Studying the map I pinpoint the closest cities near Agvar Forest.

"Yoshka, south! To Aliasa, the Piladium Kingdom."

"Okay!"

Following south I rode Yoshka through the fields, the breeze flying past me in a comfortable stroke.

During the trek I grew hungry, as I forgot to bring food with me. Forced to postpone the trip, me and Yoshka hunted for something for lunch. Searching, we found a sizeable buffalo in which Yoshka killed; I took the part of cooking the meat, feeding both of us. After that we resumed our travel to Aliasa.

Before we knew it, a giant wall leaked upwards from the horizon, a grand palace peaking over it. At the gate was guards, standing in a uniform fashion as the let varying people in.

"Uh, master, I don't think they'll take me well since I'm a monster," says Yoshka, warning me of the possibility.

"Yes, we certainly don't want to get involved in with trouble the first time we arrive."

Because of mana control marking Yoksha was a breeze. Inscribing another set of symbols around his neck you then shrink him.

"W-What?! What did you do, master?!" he called.

"I just marked you with a spell to make you shrink, good idea right?"

"What if I need to go back to normal!"

"Don't worry, the hex lets me control your size at will. Here, get on. I could pass you off as a pet," you say, letting Yoksha slither around your shoulders.

Approaching one of the guards you meet by the huge gate, the guard stopping you.

"You knew here?" the guard asked eyeing Yoksha.

"Yes."

He then looked me from top to bottom, "Have any identification or permit we could see? A guild card perhaps?"

"Identification?" I confusely say.

"Looks like you don't have one on you. Need one to get in to the city."

"I come from a really small village from quite a bit away. First time outside of the place. How can I get some identification?"

"Usually those born in villages would go to the nearest town to get a citizen's card. Losing one would fine you 10 coppers," the guard says. He then sighs "...I could get you one from the station since it'll be your first card, correct?"

"Y-Yes."

"Alright, follow me," motioning his arm for me to follow.

Taking me inside he led me to a station on the left hand side of the gate, going inside an office full of documents. While I sat down the guard pulled out a piece of paper and pen, laying it in front of me on the table.

"Fill this out, please."

I continued the document, signing my 'name' again at the bottom. Giving the document to the guard he skims over, checking for anything wrong.

"Looks good, er, Miss Nemo, I'll be right back," he says leaving me in the room. Shortly after he came back giving me a with a weird symbol on it. "This here is your card, it can be identified by two ways: by magic and by just showing it to the guards in the front. Remember, losing it will cost you ten copper, enough for a loaf of bread so be careful with it okay?"

"Okay, thank you for the help."

"It's fine. Oh, that snake of yours, make sure to keep it in check too," he says, exiting the office back to post.

Finally out of the station I am left free to roam Aliasa. Strolling down the initial path I passed stands full of food, shops, stores, and inns. Hey! maybe the place has a guild or something like that!

Deciding to just explore for now I headed into the streets.

It was simply stunning how such a city was built, especially if you take in consideration that this world hasn't hit their own industrial revolution. Neatly placed bricks, smooth pavement, and bustling citizens.

There was a church nestled in a block's corner, nuns and priest greeting passersby. A smithy and weapons shop. The blacksmith pounding the metal repeatedly as the chimney fumes smoke. And a store selling clothes, delicate fabric stitched together beautifully like some dress from a picture book. Too bad that it looked expensive, the tag through the window said 20 silvers and 2 gold.

All in all, this place looks fu--WHIP

The sound of a lash hissed in the air, leading behind the bunches stores.

"A whip, master. You seem surprised?" said Yoksha, leaning his head to my nose.

"No, I'm not surprised, just...disappointed."

"Yoksha, follow the sound and come back to tell me what's going there okay?"

Slithering down from my horns he follows the lash's sound. It was an odd couple of minutes; people looking at me in bewilderment while I wait for Yoksha. Under there breathes I could clearly hear them, 'She's tall isn't she?', 'What long, black hair.', 'Is that a deer skull?'

Calm down Fuuma, it's fine, perfectly normal...

Returning, I picked up Yoksha to hear what he saw, "So? What did you see?"

"There was a crowd of humans selling people, master. Most of them who were being sold were demi-humans," he answered.

"Slavery, huh." Even in another world such terrible things still go on.

Following Yoksha's direction we arrive behind the buildings to see a crowd of men in front of a cart. Upon an elevated surface a man presented a man or woman, stating past crimes, debt, or...where they were caught. The slaves looked battered, only rags to cover themselves.

"And here we have our latest product! A bunny demi-human caught within the borders of the Tilinar Kingdom!"

Coming out with a chain around her neck a girl with dark grey hair with bunny ears and tail was presented to the crowd. To get a better look I moved further in, some of the audience took notice of me but their interest quickly faded.

Being shown like some sort of product the girl's eyes were lifeless, seemingly unaware of her surroundings which forced the handler to be more harsh. She then turns her eyes to me, making direct eye contact as the lifelessness of hers poured upon me.

My heart was jabbed, a twinge of empathy sinking my heart like a overboard ship.

How? Just bust in and take her away? What about the other slaves? Are we going to abandon them or rescue them? Why just her? Because we pity her?

We could sneak a charm to her. Say it's a one shot deal that has to keep hidden so she can escape. That would make sense if you pity her but openly acting is insanity if we want a low profile and learn more about this world.

"Yoksha, I think i had enough."

Leaving the place I set out back into the clean streets of the city. I can't handle the sight, it's too much to bear.

My stomach grumbles; at that moment I forgot that I don't even have money. Should I work? I don't know where to go though...

Approaching a man running a stall I asked him, "Is there anywhere I could work? Specifically somewhere I can get in fast?"

The man jumped in surprise as I came without warning. Gathering himself he then took a good look at me, obviously suspicious of my attire.

"Uh...Work? I don't know anywhere much like that but you types of unique folk usually go to the guilds."

"Wait, guilds? Like in plural?"

"Yeah, guilds. Are you looking for a specific one? Merchants', adventurer's, mage's assassin's; those four are guilds working separate from each other garnering people to do work."

There are multiple?! Should I ask him directions to the adventurer's or maybe...

"Where's the adventurer's guild, please?"

"That place? Not to far, just go down straight ahead, cross the street and take a right. From there you'll see it down the walk."

I thank the man, following his directions as he said. Around the block I saw a building with a sign plastered in front of the doors saying 'adventurer's guild'. Sifting through the countless people passing by I make it to the entrance, pushing the doors to see men and woman alike wearing equipment, robes, and armor. Everyone looked at me, their gazes being more...unnerving than those outside of the building.

Walking up to what I guess was where I'm suppose to approach, I called one of the woman working behind the counter.

"Hello! Thank you for coming to Alia's designated guild," she said, talking to me like some commercial. "Are you here for a request?"

"No, I came here to see if I can work."

"Oh, to do that you need to register yourself. The desk is where people make request that go on the quest board, " her finger pointing towards the large bulletin board.

"Than where can I sign up?"

"It'll be the desk right at the end on my right."

Finding the right counter I called for someone again, "Hello? I'm here to sign up."

Another woman came, wearing the same uniform as the previous receptionist. Her hair color was blonde and was tucked into a bun, herself wearing glasses.

"An applicant?" she says, bending down to get something. "Here, fill this out then we'll test you, okay?" handing me another document.

Taking the sheet I filled it out, giving it back to her.

"A mage that trims hedges," I respond.

She just raises a brow, "okay...so just mage," replacing what I wrote in the first place. Going over to the opposite side of the desk she than asked me to follow her somewhere, "Thank you for applying, my name is Qala, one of the guild's receptionist, follow me to the training grounds please."

At the back of the guild building was the huge cleared ground filled with practice weapons, targets, and benches. Qala then calls out to some man, "Oi, Churnel! We got a new one!"

The man was tall and old, battle scars covering where his skin can be seen. Jogging towards us he met Qala, "New one? She looks pretty...unique."

"This is Nemo, an applicant. She's mage."

"Excuse me but what's going to happen?" I ask.

"Churnel is the vice guildmaster here and also the person who test out the new people in a combat test. I'll be writing down your performance and give you a designated rank after," Qala explained. "Though you can still work if you get the lowest rank, being E. It's that E rank jobs aren't lucrative."

"What's the ranks?"

'Lowest to highest is E, D, C, B, A, and S. Now let's get this rolling please."

Churnel points to a spot in the grounds, "Over there, the place where iit's outlined with a huge white rectangle."

Entering the ring Qala went over the rules, "If the opposing side cannot continue to fight than the other must back down and will win, if the applicant attempts to kill the tester they will be eliminated, spells and skills are allowed but please watch and control how you use it, don't want another accident like two days ago."

"What happened two days ago," myself curious to her story.

"One of the heroes that were summoned came down, if I remember it was hero....Kita?"

My mind went blank, so there are people here! But that went down the drain when I realized it was that Kita, Kita Ruiji. He was a plain person just like me but always attracted others, most notably the class's 'queen' and 'king', Aiko Jakimura and Yuukito Homura. They weren't bad people they just, how do you say it...ticked me off.

Once more an anger swelled from my chest, the more I think about them the more I begin to despise them.

> Ruiji made me mad, always skipping classes and spending all his time in his manga and novels. W-Who does he think he is to be that way while people like me try their damnest?!

> I hate Jakimura, no, jealous. They were always boys flocking to her in their pursuit of admiration.

All of them equally got on my nerves . But I didn't hate them as much as Sakato Shiru. In general, I don't like people who bully, but he was different, always making the time to ruin my belongings, damage my desk; he even spread rumors about me that got me in trouble with the principle on multiples occasions. I don't know if he's dead but he deserved to die in the fire, screaming for help as the flames seared his flesh, charring him. Thinking back now it really makes me...laugh, pleasurable, watching the torrent of tears stream down his face as he wails like a fucking animal. HeheheHAHAHA!

"Hello? Nemo?,"

Qala snapped her finger in front of me, wrenching me into the present.

"Please enter the ring with Churnel."

"Oh, uh, yes. Sorry." I apologized, crossing into the white line.

"Ready, please," the receptionist says, Churnel going into a stance. "One, two, three...GO!"

Churnel dashes towards me in an attempt to grapple my body. I dodged, maintaining space between us as I used appraise.

I cast another hex to paralyze Churnel, restricting his movement and winning the duel.

"P-Powerful you are, girl. It only took two spells of your to render my skills useless, haha," he says, somewhat struggling to talk on the ground as he laughs it off. "Qala, this person is a solid B."

"Her rank is my decision but I think so too. Though I'll be honest, giving her a high rank would make quite the commotion."

"Bah, to hell with them, her ability is way above average. If you want, you could take her yourself."

Qala thought about his suggestion, nodding her head decisively. She then stepped into the arena herself.

"I wasn't serious you know," said Churnel, his tone changing into worry.

"No, I'll take on your suggestion, both to spite you and gauge her ability in a more bigger scale."

Churnel winces, bending his head as much as he could to me, "Girl, be careful with Qala. She may be a receptionist but her power is much bigger than mine, makes me think why she's not the vice guildmaster-- GUH!"
,
Stepping on Churnel's head Qala digs her heel into him, "Stay quiet please. Nemo, you'll be fighting me this time, same rules, okay?"

"Yes, ma'am," positioning my body into a stance again.

"Good, Churnel, count for us."

"...Three, two, one...GO!"

Just like last time Qala dashed in first, her speed much more faster than Churnel's. Again, I appraised her first, reading her info while dodging her jabs. Somehow she read me, changing tactics and started casting a spell.

"Wind Blade!" She shouted, a visible line of air zipping at me.

I dodged it, the spell leaving a huge incision on the ground from where I previously stood.

Knowing that I won't be able to hit her directly I opt to go for an area of effect, using the spell [Poison Creation I] to make a cloud of gas to knock her out.

It worked, the cloud catching Qala in its thick haze. Before long she fell down, incapacitated.

Dissipating the poison in the air I walk to her unconscious body, "Wait, who's gonna register me?"

"I could," said Churnel, still unable to move. "It's just that I can't move still."

Clearing the marks on Churnel's body his movement return, reinvigorated as he stretches.

"Good job, master, but what about her? May have gone overboard," said Yoshka who was previously hiding under my cloak during the exam.

"Shush, it's no problem."

I attempt to wake Qala up, shaking her body lightly at first. Then I decided to move her body more sporadically with two hands since there wasn't any signs of waking. I checked her breathe and pulse to, all in the clear so I might've made the poison too strong.

Churnel walks beside me, "Still out cold, huh? Just bring her in with us," patting my shoulder.

Not knowing any other option I heeded his advice, pulling her body over my shoulder. I followed Churnel, carrying the receptionist's body in a crude manner.

We passed the front desks, walking up a flight of stairs to a second floor. Churnel went by one of the closed doors, opening one of them for me to go inside. The room was an office; a bookshelf was against one of the walls with many journals and tomes lined in it, next to the shelf was a grandfather clock, ticking in a precise pattern as the hands move.

"Take a seat," says Churnel, taking the exam paper from Qala's pocket and opening a drawer. "Oh! Just lay her on a seat too."

I take one of the chairs that was underneath a table, setting Qala in another one beside me. She slumped, almost if she were to fall out.

After writing down on some papers he pulled another drawer, presenting a card to me. "Congratulations, girl, you are now an adventurer." He gave it to me, the card having my fake name, age, and other analytics. Other than that there was a finely printed B on the card as well. "You're free to go and work now. You can take any quests from the board that are B rank and below, just take the poster and show to one of the other receptionist."

Thanking Churnel I exited the room, leaving Qala. Descending the stairs I then go to the bulletin board for my first job. The other adventurer's looked at me, whispering how I beaten both Churnel and Qala while either drinking beer, or other activity within their groups.

"What do you think, master?" says Yoksha, searching the board with me.

"I'll see."

"How about this? This looks fun right, Yoksha?" I say, showing him the poster.

"It's your decision ultimately but it sounds dangerous. Though we are talking about you"

Taking the poster I bring it to the receptionist's desk, getting it approved and stamped after the girl on the counter checked my newly acquired card.

Exiting the guild I went towards the gate to the listed area; apparently there's four gates in total here at Alia so things can move in and out easier.

The place where the dire wolf was spotted was a nearby woods, the trees much more bigger and thicker than the ones at Agvar.

"Keep an eye out okay, Yoksha."

"Will do," he says, slithering up on my mask's antlers.

Wandering through the woods we made sure to keep our eyes peeled, watching out for anything in the distance. Soon we were deep inside, the tree growing taller.

Without hesitation I snapped my head to the side. A giant wolf, its height comparable to Yoshka's girth in full size, lunged at me. It misses, turning back around as it maliciously growls.

The wolf tries to escape, shaking her body and tensing her muscles. Her attempt was futile though, only making her tired.

"Poor girl. Reminds me of myself when you pitted me to the ground," Yoksha commented.

"Shut-up, worm!" she yelled.

There must be something I could do accept for killing her, she's pretty powerful and it'll be a waste. That and her story is pretty pitiful, makes me remember that...slave.

Coming closer to her I gave a choice, "Look, if you'd like you can join me. Something of a new pack where we protect each other, no?"

"Why would I follow a you?" she barked.

"Well, I proven myself stronger than you but that's not what I want to focus on Become my friend and follow me or perhaps die alone by some other person."

She gets quiet. My ultimatum promising freedom or possible death.

"You, promise me."

"Promise what?"

"Never betray me and I'll swear loyalty," she demanded.

"...I promise."

"Good."

"Now that I think about it, what should I call you?" asking the wolf for a name.

"Anything...master" pausing between the two words.

"Oh don't be like that~" I say, hexing her with two rings around her neck, one is for obedience like what Yoshka has and the other is for a little experiment. "Fine job I did, change!" I commanded, Fenrir's body go up in a pale black silhouette.

Her form was changing, molding into a human's after the black silhouette covering body went away when it was done. What appeared before me now was a...child. A child with a wolf's ears and tail.

"W-What?! What did you do to me!" Fenrir demanded, punching me with minuscule strength. "Decades of being an apex predator and I turn to this?!"

I appraised her again, checking what happened to her.

"What's wrong with it, you're cute!" cuddling Fenrir's body.

"But my pride!"

"Sister, master doesn't care about pride," Yoshka told.her.

"T-Then at least not treat me like a child!"

Putting Fenrir back down I pouted, "Oh boo, if you say so. Let's go back to Alia!"

"Master, we will have to explain Fenrir when we get back."

"Oh, right."

"Like I said, I can just hide in your shadow," Fenrir says, sinking under me.

"Good, we're set then!"

Returning back to the capital, I went to the guild to finish the quest. At the receptionist desk was Qala, fully recovered. All around, adventurers were wide-eyed, surprise about me living.

'She's back! Isn't that girl a C rank?!', 'No, she took the dire wolf job, that's a B rank quest.', 'Eh?! So she got ranked B on her exam today?!', 'Yeah, she's pretty mysterious. That girl with the odd mask came in and beat both the vice guildmaster and...Qala.', 'Bullshit!', 'What kind of snake is that? has no eyes.'

"Everyone here seems lively," I say while giving Qala the fang. "I can probably know why but what do you think?"

Qala takes the fang, "Well, when a certain individual with a bear cloak and deer mask asks to apply to be an adventurer and beats two of the strongest staff here during her exam, than it's understandable." She inspects the fang, pulling a monocular out of a drawer and looking at it intently. "i myself didn't expect for you to go after a big job when you were registered but that's fine, you're still alive. Here, four silvers."

Qala hands me four silver coins. Nowhere to store them I just put them in my skirt's pocket.

"Hm, sorry what, I wasn't listening," she says, coming back after taking the dire wolf fang.

"Uh...How much value is a silver coin," I repeat.

"..."

Qala just stares at me blankly, taking off her glasses to wipe the lens and putting them back on.

"Hm, sorry what, I wasn't listening."

"How much value is a silver coin."

":...You know, Nemo, for someone well above average I expected to to, you know, know."

I lie, trying to explain, "I, uh, lived in a very far and secluded village. Only until now I never was taught currency within Piladium."

"Okay, let's see. 150 copper coins are worth 1 silver, 80 silver are worth a platinum coin, and 10 platinum coins are worth 1 gold coin."

"Thanks, do you also know a place I can stay and a store or shop to buy gear?"

"To the right of the guild is an inn gold Circe, stayed there once and it was nice. A place to buy equipment and supplies from are usually at the trading district but there's a weapon store behind the guild that may be what your looking for."

"H-How much is the inn exactly?"

"Er, it's 20 copper for three days. Plus 8 if you want lunch as well during your stay."

"Thank you again," I said, keeping the embarrassment hidden.

"No problem, it's my job too. See again, Nemo."

Quick meta question QM. Does [Evil Eye: Paralysis] count as a status aliment?
>>
Closing my status screen I enter the inn, checking in at the front desk. Ringing the bell that was placed on it a middle-aged woman came for me.

"Welcome to Circe," she greeted.

"I would like to book a room please."

"How long?"

"Uh, just for three days. Lunch too."

"Okay~! That'll be 28 copper please."

I gave the woman a silver coin. In turn, giving me 122 coppers for change. She then picked a key from a board, telling my room number.

"You'll be in room 32. Thank you for coming!"

Entering my room I crash on the bed, caressing the sheets. During this time Yoshka slithered off me and settled on my bed while Fenrir came out of my shadow.

"Happy, master?" Yoshka asked.

"Yeah, hadn't had a proper bed for a long while. It may not be as good but I'll take it. There's even a bath!"

"Humans, susceptible to worthless pleasures, master," says Fenrir.

A my eyed lit up; grabbing up Fenrir I bring her into the bed with me. She tried to get out of my grasp but all the effort was a waste as I was too strong.

"N-No! Please, let me go, master!"

"I'll apologize after I had my time with you."

"B-Brother, help!"

Yoshka just slithered under a blanket ignoring Fenrir's cry, "I can't do anything if I tried. May the gods be mercy."

"N-Noooo!!"

After taking my fill of cuddling Fenrir's cute form I thought to have some time for myself. i first took a bath, relishing in a proper wash since a long time. The water was warm, washing away all the day's stress away. Getting out feeling refreshed I see out side the window; it's a bit dark outside but I have some time to do stuff before I'll go to sleep.

We should see if we experiment with Fenrir's hex by allowing her free access to human and wolf form in the future. It'll help her disguise herself at will rather than rely on us.

>>
Taking out the cestuses from my bag I set them in front of me. I hovered my hands over them, focusing the mana inside me, 'projecting' the energy onto them. When it felt comfortable enough and stable a magic circle appeared under me as I used magic crafting. The moment I used the skill the circle turned from pale blue to a bleak grey.

Yoksha slithered out from under the pillow, "Sister, what's happening?"

"I don't know, master just started to cast a spell on those items!" said Fenrir.

"Huh? Oh, she's doing that, huh."

"What do you mean?!"

"Master is just imbuing magic, did it before. Don't worry, sister, it isn't dangerous," Yoksha assured.

"But that atmosphere says otherwise..." Fenrir doubted.

Cleaning up i went to bed, Yoksha and Fenrir sharing it with me. Carefully, I take off my mask on the dresser besides us, pulling over the sheets and going to sleep. Snuggling closely to Fenrir's tail she grumbles unconsciously, letting me enjoy her fluff throughout the night.

I'll bet she's gonna kill her new master and come find us. Provided that this is not just a one off to show how our actions effect those around us.
>>
Would it be possible to buy her or was she already sold?
>>
>>2864857
Let's just say demi-humans are very desireable slaves.
>>
>>2864860
That reminds me. How much does the average slave cost in this setting in comparison to the average demi-human slave?
>>
>>2864818
I guess we should get some boxing/fighting lessons and learn some skills. Maybe we can tamp down our power and master the basics.
We don't want to be one of those superpowerful fuckwits that use nothing but their natural powers and then get taken down with a masterfully skilled crosscounter
What was the trope again, boxing lessons for superman?

In any case, yeah, we reap what we sow. Would have, could have, should have, didn't.
>>
>>2864877
I agree, kung-fu tank mages are my kind of class fetish.
>>
>>2864873
A slave's cost in this setting depends on their current physical state, past crimes (if any), and ability be it physical or magical.

Demi-humans are practically the same as normal humans appearance wise; of course, they carry animal characteristics like ears tails, scales, etc. What makes demi-huamans more desirable though is their raw power making them more suited for physical labor. Their potential for magic however is the same as a average human being.
>>
>>2864877
>Would have, could have, should have, didn't.
I honestly believe that there's nothing wrong with the outcome. We were able to give some kind of hope.
>>
>>2864880
If we could somehow manage to tamp down/suppress our physical stats to 75 when training, I think we'd get the most out of learning and not break our teacher's body by accident.
>>
>>2864898
It would be a good idea to work on when it becomes morning for us. Alongside manipulating the elemental powers, so we can have more to work with besides chucking the same hex at a target.
I wouldn't put past the idea that there are entities in this world that are immune to hexes the same way we're immune to Poison
>>
>>2864818
Punch magic and exsanguinate enemies? Dont mind if i do !

Also, poor bunny. Im always conflicted when i meet slavery in rpg. I wanna save them, but I obviously cant save them all... part of me thinks that it's egocentric & shallow to only save one or two instead of getting to the root of it..
Ahhh... such a complex problem..
>>
>>2865111
Sounds like a longterm plan to execute.
I'm thinking one of the key things to kick into place is to slowly phase slavery out by implementing more efficient units like golems or machines. Make it so that there is a logical reason why you shouldn't. Because one of the keystones about slave labour is that it's pretty much free labour. Find a way to make the product you're selling much better than the "product" that is currently on the market.
The other thing we should do while we're implementing the machines, is to return said slaves back to their homelands (if they are recently enslaved and have not been a slave their entire life) or bring any newborn children of said slaves into either adoptive families or people who were not enslaved. Unfortunately for the ones that lived their whole lives as slaves from birth to now, are going to have to be left alone with their masters (Or transferred to better/kinder masters) and simply die out naturally (i.e. old age), because they are more than likely indoctrinated into their roles that will be unable to function in a normal society and will be too old to relearn their entire lives all over again.
Now take note that I have not gone into the religious aspect of it or the cultural aspect as they pretty much differ depending on where you are in the world. And you'll have to to have a more hands on basis with that than with the first two aforementioned.

Either way, no matter how you slice it, it's gonna be a dirty job.
But someone's gotta do it.

The sun's shining through the window, its light being magnified into a warm glimmer. My eyes open slowly, still blurry, still tired, but I push myself up rubbing away at them to rouse my body. Stretching my arms I yawn, getting out of the bed as both Yoshka and Fenrir wake as well.

"...morning," I say.

Yoshka slithers out from the pillow, "Morning, master."

Fenrir is still asleep but shifts half-awake from my previous movement.

"*Fwak!* Good morning," Yosha said, whipping his tail on Fenrir's nose.

"GAH-- What the hell?!" Fenrir shouts, getting into an argument with Yoshka.

Again, I stretch my body, changing into my tunic and gear I bought from the store and fastening my bear cloak. The finishing touch being my mask, helpful in hiding my face; now it also keeps my evil eye in check too, minimizing my field of vision.

Although my mask should be able to keep my eyes in check I wanted to use magic crafting on it for the chance of disabling my evil eye when I'm wearing it. And so, I place the mask on the ground and started the skill. Yoksha and Fenrir was lively in the background, still arguing but turning their attention to me as they watch myself imbue my mask with magic just like last night.

The magic circle appeared under me, glowing a faint grey. I channel the mana into my mask for the desired effect.

Great! Donning the new mask I head out, Yoshka catching a ride on my antlers and Fenrir hiding in my shadow. The streets look lively just like yesterday, wives buying food, soldiers patrolling the grounds, and wagons driving through the center. It is truly a capital city.

On my way to wherever a memory resurfaced; the slave auction in the back streets, the one with the bunny demi-human girl. Seriously, I was having a good time before that popped into my head, why now? I guess I can visit the place again.

"Yoshka, remember the slave seller?" I request.

"Yes, master, I do. Why though?" Yoshka said.

"I want to check on it, my heart got this sinking feeling and my mood isn't any better."

"Slaves, master? Isn't that forbidden in your human territories?" Fenrir curiously asked.

"I don't know about here but it's a pretty disgusting thing in general. Well, that's what comes in mind first; what I really feel is that I pity the unconditional ones that were brought into such a state, not those of crime," I explained.

"I see..."

"I can tell you how much the human species has done, Fenrir, but we'll leave it to later. Yoshka, lead me."

Following Yoshka's directions I find myself near the same alleyway to the backstreets. I don't hear any whipping or crowds but that may be because of the time of day.

Cautiously, I move in, a few rats running across my path. Arriving at the same lot there as but a broken carriage and...a dead body?

"This is where the guards found the body, Samson."

"Yes, a slave trader, exactly what the report entailed. What do you think?"

"Could've been some kind of rebel force, maybe men from the other kingdoms. Or you know...demon-folk."

"That may be, Marianne, but something's off. There's no trace of magic and the slave's that were rounded up won't say a word. Even the best officers couldn't interrogate them. We were forced to give them off to other slave traders or nobles...even the demi-humans."

Quickly, I hid behind the corner. Eavesdropping may not be the wisest decision but this sounds interesting.

"There's nothing we can do about that, Samson. Anyway, the body looks to be dead for a long while, maybe around afternoon or nightfall?"

"I agree. But what's disturbing is the gaping hole in the chest, looks like something ripped the man open. There are also injuries from some kind of blunt attack, the body's dented in many parts as if he was struck by a mace many times."

"The eyes are gouged too..."

I walk towards the lot, revealing myself. The two who commanded me out of hiding was a man and a woman, both in knight armor. The armor itself was impressive, a crest on the left of the chest, a relatively long cape, and a more refined craftsmanship. No doubt that these guys are important. Their sets differed from each other but ultimately held the same design. the woman having much more lighter armor than the man's.

The persons themselves were more distinguishable. The man was of darker hair, and had sharp eyes hinting at mastery. The woman's hair was blonde, curled up into drills that resembled some of the figures back in Akihabara. If I were to guess she were to be the princess type? Nonetheless, their skill exudes itself just form looking at them.

"Explain yourself," the man demanded. "If you do than it'll be an easier time interrogating you."

"Samson, her weapon is something I never seen before. Could it possibly..."

The man holds a hand up to the woman, stopping her from finishing her sentence, "We don't know that but she's suspicious. Tell us who you are now! Do you know anything about this scene?"

"Well, when a person is wearing attire like yours it's easily connected, especially when hiding behind a corner," Samson said.

"Then I do apologize, I really need to get going," I say while attempting to exit the area. Keyword, attempting.

The woman, Marianne, stopped me in my tracks. She was holding my shoulder without hesitation even when Yoshka was just a feet away from her face. Her grip was strong, it held an ushering feeling.

"We still need some more answers. Who are you and what's with that gear? Those are things not a weapon shop in this district sells. Mind if you tell us? Specifically the powerful magic in them," Marianne said.

"Sounds bad," turning myself back down the alleyway. "It was nice chatting with you but I'm my own person."

Samson stopped Marianne again, exchanging an understanding look. "If you see anything you can report it to the Palad Knight Order's headquarters located within the upper district."

I managed to find a church near the general area around the inn, albeit a few blocks away. It was bigger than the last one I saw, the walls chiseled more finely. Inside, the nave was massive as there was rows and rows of pews lined in front one another. Ahead was the altar, its statue depicting a woman draped in a robe.

Walking to the altar I prayed like the message said. I stayed there, knelt on my knees with my hands clasped together, it looked like nothing was happening but then everything around me changed as I appeared in some sort of realm.

The whole place had more personality than Yaldabaoth's. The floor was made of clouds, fluffy and cool on my feet as it held my weight. Here and there, buildings stood along with other environments, resembling some sort of city. Looking above there was also angels; I expected them to be more...holy in a sense but they just looked like normal people with wings on their backs.

"Ah! I was expecting you but not this soon," a voice said.

A little girl appeared before me, presenting herself. She had long, curly hair that was the length of her own body and soft looking skin. Floating above her head was a halo.

"Looks like my message came through! I'm Alia, this world's primary god and the goddess of light. What made you come here faster than expected?"

"R-Really?! Sorry, messing around with one's soul isn't what I usually do when bestowing power. Come, child."

She beckoned me closer, sinking both of her hands into my bosom.

"To reach into one's soul and materialize it into power is a bit tricky since I need to take in mind the sin and virtue that makes up a person. Now relax, child, let mother do the work."

As the status screen updated Alia took out her hands from my chest, "Looks like I did a few mistakes in gifting you without being in direct contact like what Yaldabaoth did when you first met him. It's good that I fixed it."

"You know, you're much cuter than I thought you'd be. The statue was way different."

Alia giggled, "Humans do love to picture gods in their image just as their creators. It's something I'm not bothered by, child."

"Could I...hug you?" I said, my hands fidgeting in my lap.

"Sure, child. Hug mother all you want," she said, opening her arms to me.

And just like that I enveloped her into my arms, borderline assaulting her. Unlike Fenrir she didn't made a fuss but was surprise by the enthusiasm.

After a while Alia then said goodbye, "It was good to see you, child, but we must part. Remember, you can always visit."

"Thank you, you're much nicer than Yalda," I say, putting her back down.

"I know, he handles his responsibilities in a strict and decisive matter, child," she replied. Alia then nodded her head, "See you next time. I wish luck upon you."

"Goodbye."

I return to my consciousness, my body still prostrated in a prayer. Getting up I give one last proper respect to Alia's statue before leaving the church, newfound power in tow.

"What happened, master?" Fenrir said.

"I talked with Alia, the world's god," I say while pushing the church's doors and into the streets.

"So that explains your sudden quietness," said Yoksha.

"Say, how long did I prayed?"

"I don't really know, I guess around an hour or so?" answered Yoksha. "A few priest and nuns checked on you from time to time, they seemed rather impressed."

"Really, huh. Wonder what they thought."

"Who knows?"

"So what's next, master?" Fenrir questioned.

"Probably will go to the guild for work."

But, does this mean we can't upgrade our other stuff like we use to?

We still can since it's a divine version of magic crafting. If we modify our gear and magic items than most people won't be able to use their effects if Fuuma doesn't deem them worthy or favorable.

I want to find the bunny. Maybe someone in the guild has seen her?
>>
Also, holy damn that guard woman was strong. I wanna be even stronger now, to increase the gap in power between us and other folks. I get a feeling that fighting a large group of people with her stats would be trouble, and who's ti say that cant happen
>>
>>2869545
I agree with this.
Maybe also see if we can get registered at other guilds?
>>2869549
Yeah, if we're gonna be a god we need to get stronk. I'd also like to find a way to power up our companions, as they're fairly weak compared to us.
>>
>>2869549
And now you know why I was one of the guys that didn't want to start shit at the slave auction.
Also yes we will need to get stronger. Which is why I'm totally for some Orc Genocide.

At the guild I met Qala at the front desk, sorting papers under the counter.

"Oh, hello, Nemo," she said.

"Hello, you look busy?"

"No, it's nothing. Someone has to deal with Churnel's work somehow when he's off in the woods or somewhere. How about you? You seem a bit different than yesterday."

"I'm still the same, just had to maintain some of my gear. Also, thanks for telling me about the shop, got me some proper protection now."

"Well I'm glad I was of help."

>"So, do you know anything about a slave? Specifically a bunny demi-human."

"So, do you know anything about a slave? Specifically a bunny demi-human ."

"Slave?" she said while adjusting her glasses. "No, I don't know anything about a demi-human slave. Though it isn't rare to see adventurers have them, especially around the A or S ranks. Why?"

"It was just on my mind. Thanks for answering, I gotta go now."

"Okay. See you soon, Nemo."

Leaving Qala I went to inspect the bulletin board...

You know what, I want a relaxing day where we can be a bit lazy and take our time comfy style. Maybe this'll lead us to some merchants and other business ventures.

Also... torturer substitute is way too hardcore. Why torture? Are they trying to get a bunch false confessions?

>Torturer substitute: The torturer that works at the Palad Knight Order is on leave, request a day's substitute. (B)
We could just force them to be completely truthful without cutting into them.

We can give our companions a chance to stretch their legs as we harvest plants.

Take two, gather herbs while on the way to the dungeon. Only if their in the same direction, otherwise just herb gather.

Just want to know, what does Fuuma Nagaro looks like. I already know that she's 173cm tall but other than that I can only picture her bear cloak and mask.

Kinda same. Im not a great drawfag, so not sure I wanna give it a go. But I imagine her as a simple kind of pretty. Not all that impressive size shapes, but a decent charm to her.
