You are SCP 999, a blobby mass of joy and happiness for all! And you are currently trapped in a room. Alone, and with no one to bring happiness to.

What do you do?

Spread ourselves throughout the room. The walls deserved to be hugged.

>Spread ourselves throughout the room. The walls deserved to be hugged.
You spread out across the room, covering all the floors and walls and trying to spread general happiness and love to them. The walls do not react in any real manner as far as you can tell.

What next?
>>
>>2852598
Try to find an exit. Either a vent or a door, we shall spread the love.

>Try to find an exit. Either a vent or a door, we shall spread the love.
You search throughout the room in your vastly spread out form, and you manage to find a tiny crack to push through. It's a pretty tight fit, but you get through easily enough. But it's also quite dark, and you can't see more than a couple feet in front of you. You cannot tell what might be waiting out there.

Press on into the dark, or come up with a plan first?

>Trait "Fearless" has been realized

Your mass pushes out into the darkness beyond fully pulling free of the room you were trapped in. You casually note the dry texture of the ground beneath you as you move, and the odd stones and plants you wobble over as you keep on moving onwards. You don't stop until you hear a sudden laughter (that doesn't sound very happy, you think) echoing around you, shaking the shadows around.

How do you react to this sudden vocalization out of the inky blackness surrounding you?

>Hug the darkness and attempt to out laugh it
You reach out into the blackness and begin grasping at it, and start laughing alongside it. Strangely, the odd laughter seems to stop then. Does it not like laughing?

You watch as the shadows seem to pull and knit themselves into a shape before your eyes. Draping robes of shadow form out of the black, and a large figure now stands before you, your gelatinous limbs wrapped around its garb.

The entity seems to stare down at you impassively.

You keep on hugging and laughing with the strange entity, who continues to stare down at you.

"Insolent creature." The entity hisses. "Do you realize what I am? I am the scourge of nations, master of the wars of the Fairest Lands, bender of flesh and shape, king of the black and ruler of all that dwell therein-Are you even listening?"

The entity seems to glare down at you, red forming in its empty eye-sockets. That doesn't look very friendly. Should you continue hugging, or not?

>We just need to hug HARDER!
You pull from deep within yourself and continue to press into the strange being in need of a hug, whose head is steadily growing a deeper and deeper shade of red. And as you do so, a dazzling rainbow of colour erupts from you and both covers him and spreads out into the dark and dreary expanse around.

And as soon as the wave comes, it goes. But with its passing comes the rain. A constant light drizzle of it pouring down from nowhere and showering you both. You can also hear the accompaniment of the sounds of a thunderstorm, somewhere distant and far off, and yet it feels like it is right next to you now.

"W-What? What was that? What have you done!?" the entity stammer out, looking around confused. It looks like his head has cooled off a bit too, it's no longer red anymore!

What do you wish to do whilst your (potential?) friend is in his surprised state?

Your strange new friend is currently clutching at his head and seems to be muttering beneath his breath. You don't catch most of it, but you heard something about "humans" and "magic" in there you're pretty certain. Maybe the Foundation was here?

Either way, it's just you and your friend in the rain right now. Might be a good time to try and talk with him. Or otherwise find something to do.

You wobble on up to your friend and ask him what's wrong, as he's still muttering and clutching at his head.

"Blorble?"

"And now they've created some blighted horror to invade y domain, how dare they. HOW DARE THE-hmm, wait-what?" the entity seems to break out of his state of surprise and near-shouting, and looks back down at you. "Ah yes. The domain invader, I almost forgot you were right here. Whilst I'm still speculating over your origins, and what in the Abyss you just did, I suppose I can do it back within the confines of my own palace." And with that, the strange being lifts you off the ground with a hand and begins moving ahead through the now rainy dark with you in tow.

He seems to be in a better state now. Might be fine to ask him something.

>Prod him and ask if he's got any other friends around. Gotta share the love after all.
You look over at your newfound friend and decide to ask him if he has any friends of his own.

"Blorble-blorb?" you manage to gurgle. You never really took those Foundation language classes to heart in the end.

"Wretched creature, if you are attempting to speak, at least do so in a manner through which I can understand." your friend says, sounding somewhat irritated (almost reminds you of 682!). "Hmm, or perhaps, you are unable to speak in the normal tongue I take it?" You nod. "Then I shall simply pry the laden desire from your poor attempts to let your voice be heard." And the entity does so, causing you to feel a rather strange feeling as an aura of deep black reaches through you.

"So you wish to know of my own kin. Hah! If you are a creation of the Gentry or some poor mageling, then you are all too bold in your attempts to pry information from me!" the entity chuckles for a moment. "But I shall indulge you nonetheless. Choose creature. Choose what you wish to learn of the great Vuindred the Black."

"So the kin of the great Vuindred is what you wish to know more of?" At your affirmative nodding, the entity chuckles once more. "Very well then. I shall tell you of my own kind."

"Once, I was no more than one of many, many foolish Mages. Those who were granted power to view the hidden Truths of the world. To peel back the layers of reality and to view its deep-set symbols and roots. But amongst those Mages, it became clear that they cared not for the suffering masses of the world, nor did they care for those who were gifted in other manners, not born from themselves. And as such, I and others like myself, disillusioned with our fellows overall, choose to change the world. We delved into the arts forbidden, to search for that which could aid us in creating a better world. Abyssalurgy, unholy spirit-arts, twisted manipulation of the greater Arcana, all such did we pour ourselves into."

"In the end, I and but a scant few others managed to pull ourselves away from that yawning precipice before the end. All the others fell prey to dark things beyond word and form, either being consumed utterly and woven into their being forevermore, or otherwise having themselves replaced by things of pure Un-Truth. With my knowledge gleaned, I fled here and established my domain, steeped in black and seated next to the infernal shimmering realms of the Fairest Ones, forever embroiled in their wretched wars as they are. And here I have remained, for what feels like eons yet." The entity sighs, it's empty eyes filling with a deep blue glow.

In fact, prior to your arrival accursed beast, I was studying an odd change in the local spheres as of late. I'm not sure what this may signify as of yet, but judging by your appearance, and how painful it is to observe you for any more than a minute or two, I doubt it bodes well at all."

>His Domain
"My domain, the Shaded Palace. Both home, and little more than an extension of myself, it is where I have conducted my work for innumerable years." Vuindred seems to speak of his domain with a form of clear pride. "All who have attempted to breach its iron defenses have met with grave failure. Be it from mine own hand, or from the vile Gentry and their twisting lands surrounding it. A truly impregnable fortress in every way. One that has remained unchanged for the longest of times.

"...At least, until you arrived, creature." the ancient mage makes a point of glaring straight at you as he says this, as the rain and thunderstorms continue on all around.

"Either way, it matters not. We have arrived." And indeed you have. Before you sits an utterly massive castle, imposing itself upon the land and shining with with an ebon glow. To anyone else, it would be horrifying in its dark majesty, but to you, it just looks fun.

Vuindred still seems to be looking at you, almost expectantly. He seems to want you to make some other comment on the palace before you.

"Hah! Yes, I see that even for such a base creature, you can appreciate true spectacles of wonder and magic! My peers hardly care for truly putting in the effort to build their domains into anything truly glorious, instead focused on the perpetual wars of Ascenscion as they are. Fools the lot of them." the skeletal magic-user snorts in annoyance. " But I am nevertheless glad for your love of my work, beast."

"...And no, you may not touch my palace." Vuidrend says with a decent amount of finality as the gates part and you both enter the Palace proper.

Well, that's currently a bust. Maybe you can convince him otherwise at a later date?

>Ask if there's anything in the palace we CAN touch
"If you are truly that bored, you annoying mass, I shall have some attendant spirits cater to your needs. That should keep you occupied for a time I suspect." Vuindred mutters at your continued attempts to get something to hug,

As you move, you finally notice the great room you are now in, with chairs and tables made out of some shimmering dark crystal-like substance. With walls fashioned into ornate patterns and swirling colors. All complete with strange lights dancing far, far above you, illuminating everything below.

"Wait here, childish thing. I must go to my study and analyze the data I have received. I shall send some Hursih and other attendants to come and deal with your needs." And with that, Vuindred drops you to the ground, and moves to the walls in front of you, seeming bleeding into the shadows and swirling patterns and disappearing.

Following this, several Wisp-like entities dart out and begin to slowly dart about around you. Perhaps you can hug these instead?

"This one is...odd."

"YesYes. StrangeStrangething."

"Too warm."

"Was it the one that had our Lord so unnerved?"

"What does it want? Is it going to harm us? Harm our Lord?"

"Such an oddity this one is. But I suppose we can accept it's strangeness if our Lord is accepting of it within the Palace."

"Perhaps we should show it around? Give it a good look at our Lords work?"

And with that, your new friends dart out of oyur grasp and begin to show you around the Shaded Palace's numerous inner-workings and locations. But to you, it's more a fun-bonding exercise for all involved. >Trait "Selfless" has been realized. You care far more about the feelings of your friends and allies than you do your own, and will gladly sacrifice your own happiness for them (You have reserves anyhow).

Your friends seem to bob in confusion at your dancing, but quickly come around, and start spiralling around you and trying to mimic your own movements.

"This is rather enjoyable." one of the Wisps (the main Wisp?) says

"QuiteQuite."

With your friends no suitably happy, and their minds taken off of naytihng to do with worrying over you, you all continue on to the next room. Do you have anything to ask of the Wisps before then?

"Blorbal?" you question to your friends.

"Hmm? Oh, you are asking if there are others like us?" one of the Wisps bobs in the air some at your affirmation.

"YesYes. ManyManyLikeUsUs."

"Though most of the Hursah and Ensih are attending to other matters in other floors at the moment." another Wisp says. "But if you'd like, we'd gladly show you to them, little ally." You yourself begin to shake with some amount of joy at the prospect of new friends.

But that doesn't last all that long before your current joy is eclipsed by an even great.er form of it. Namely, the form taken from staring out at the room before you. A spiral of colors and swirling waves in the air, starlit beauty weaving itself into being all about you and your friends.

"This is our equivalent to a resting chamber. It's a common thing for many of our fellow attendants to come here and watch the view as they recuperate for their next tasks."

You can almost taste the raw energies playing out in this room, and you almost want to just sit down and rest yourself here. But do your friends want to? Perhaps you should ask them first?

You choose to ask your friends, pointing at them with a limb and then at the scenery before you. "Blorb!"

"It seems the little thing wishes to rest? No, not by itself. With us?"

"Such a definite oddity this one is. Our Lord was certainly correct to react as he had." one of the other Wisps moves around you in long, lazy circles through the air.

"I'd certainly prefer a little rest before we press on into the Palace depths. Who knows, perhaps our Lord shall be finished with his current work by then?"

And with all that said, you and your companions come together and lay at expanse of shimmering lights. Dreaming together of things to come, and of what might be yet.

The object begins to glow and pulse, and the air begins to lighten. Crackling energy pulses around you and then suddenly, erupts outward in all directions, completely enveloping the resting chamber. All around you, the air has turned to shining frost, gravity has reversed itself and you float freely in the chilled air and snowflakes fall from some place above.
>An ability has been realized; " Snow-Storm." You can spontaneously generate a freezing effect capable of completely encasing an entire area in a layer of permafrost. Requires the use of a Dream Trinket or another active trinket

"Creature." a voice echoes from behind you suddenly. "My Lord demands your presence. Immediately."

Whoops.

>Hug the voice.
>Follow him but ask if he's got any candy.
"Creature, no physical contact shall be permitted." the voice speaks, and you turn in the air to see a large and imposing creature floating there, it's body seeming to be composed out of the same odd black crystal and shadowstuff you've seen throughout the Palace. "I am one of my Lords Ensih, and he has demanded your presence."

"Blorbal?" you ask the large, rocklike creature.

"Your thoughts are unorganized creature, and yet I can detect a desire for odd sustenance. My Lord may provide you with whatever you may desire. Provided you are allowed to remain." the being grunts.

Well that should work. You decide to follow behind the Ensih, passing through one of the strange shadowy walls out of the frozen resting chamber. Though you are free to ask the spirit a question or two before you meet Vuindred again.

>Ask about the Lord and the Gentry
"Blorburgle?" you ask (or attempt to do so).

"You wish to know of my Lords and the blighted Gentry that lurk beyond this domain? Very well then, creature." the ogre-like Ensih nods at your question.

"The Gentry are the Lords of Arcadia, a mad place where death and time lose all meaning, the realm of faerie. There, the so-called 'Kindly Ones' engage in neverending wars to grant themselves definition, for conflict defines such creatures, and without it they fade and wither away in power, enough so that their fellows could easily consume them for their own strength."

"You would not know this creature, but many a time has our Lord been faced with threat from the Arcadian Realms, the wretched things attempting to involve him in their Hunt and Legends that make up their eternal game. Much of this realm has ended up being torn from us by the Fae, but through our Lords power alone has the Shaded Palace endured."

"But for how long even that will last, I cannot say..." the Ensih trails off, clearly lost in thought as the walls of shadow fully part between you and the main hall you first entered comes back into view. Vuindred is there, along with some of the Wisps that you fell asleep with in the resting chamber.

>shape shift into a bunny for no reason and ask him that's up
You mold your form into that of one of the many animals you so love; the common bunny rabbit (even those like 524), and you then proceed to go up and attempt to hug your friends and ask them what's wrong. Most of the Wisps are receptive, though your Ensih firend seems to have already left and as you go to hug the ancient mage, a shield of force pushes you back from Vuindred himself.

"Ready the defenses, alert the Ensihim of my depart-oh, it's you again, creature. I take it you've enjoyed changing my Palace with your ridiculous abilities?" the archmage punctuates this with a flash of red in his hollow eye-sockets.

"Nevertheless, I did not simply call you here to speak to you about changing my domain. Or at least, not that alone. No, I have something I wish for you to do for me. Can you guess what that is?" Vuindred's empty eyes dance with am tried of mad colors and patterns, radiating a form of clear amusement.

Well, do you dare to guess?

"BLORBAL!!" you about with glee and raise your arms (technically paws at the moment, but who's checking?) and you start bouncing about excitedly.

"Hah! Such a simple, foolish creature you are!" Vuindred chuckles to himself. "And yet, that simplicity of yours is exactly what I need."

"You see creature, I require you to enter the Arcadian Domains, and secure an artifact for me. Something stolen from its rightful owners and held in the grips of the wretched Fairest. A fititng way to repay me for my own genrosity thus far, no?" the mage stares at you, lights dancing in his eyes.

"Bah! Wretched creature, you dare try to ask the great Vuindred the Black for something? When he's giving you the greatest reward of all, exploration in his name?" the ancient mage-lich curses.

"Blorb." you quietly retort.

"Fine then, blasted creature. I shall allow you to touch my palace in your most revolting of manners, and I shall provide you with the 'candied' sustenance you so crave."
"But be warned niw." Vuindred draws himself up at this, the air crackling with dark lightning. "The Gentry shall not be as amiable as I have been. They shall do their very best to corrupt, warp or otherwise pervert you in accordance to their desires. Are you absolutely certain that you are ready to take on this task?" The mage hovers in the air, looking down at you, your Wisp friends floating about his head and presumably doing the same. All awaiting your response.

>Begin operation snake hugger!
"Blorb!" you shout, and make a salute to the archmage, who gives you a nod. You then go and give your Wisp friends one last hug, and then move over to Vuindred himself, looking up at him expectantly.

"Oh for the Abyss' sake. Fine!" he shouts, before letting down his defenses and allowing you to hug him. "Wretched creature, you still require a means of conveying your thoughts that does not require mine or my attendants on mental inference, but I suppose that can wait until you have successfully returned from your mission with the artifact I require."

"Which starts now." Vuindred says with a deep chuckle, eyes lighting up. Wait, what? "Be seeing you, creature."

With a sudden jerk, you are pulled into the air and sucked through a shining gateway that had opened suddenly above, Vuindreds mad laughter being the last thing you hear before the rift shuts itself.

As their Lord's booming laughter slowly fades, the Hursihim move about him once more, their wisp-like forms trailing motes of light about the air.

"Are you sure of this my Lord?" one asks inquisitively. "The creature seems young and inexperienced, the Gentry will eat it alive."

"Young and inexperienced it may certainly be, but you no doubt felt the pulse of energy that it had realized, not once, but twice throughout my domain, small one." Vuindred says as the walls of shadows part before him once more, as he makes his way back to his inner sanctum. "Permanent changes have been affixed to this realm, something which should be impossible by any means barring that of either an Archmage or an Ephemeral entity of great rank."

"And what of this creature then? Is it an Archmage or a similar entity, my liege?" another Hursih asks. "One of their creations perhaps?"

"No." their master says, moving slowly, pondering. "At least, I suspect it isn't. It does not seem to bear the mark of Imperial craft or even the touch of magic Supernal. And to even try to focus my gaze on it, to pry at its deeper layers, brings me a form of pain I have little known." the mage-lords eyes alight at this, sparkling fires dancing within. "This entity is an enigma of the highest order."

"So why did you send it out into the reaches of the denizens of Arcadia, my Lordship?"

"I needed to see its abilities more freely, my attendant." Vuindred responds. "Such a vast power could not be easily observed within my own expanse. Not without severely altering the nature of mine own domain. The planes of the Fairest were the only logical choice." another parting of shadows, and the inner sanctum flowers open before them.

"Besides, I did in fact require the artifact that the Gentry currently claim possession over. And what better way to do so then by letting the creature go and fetch it for me?" the ancient lord chuckles. "And also..." Vuindred halts, mirth fading away from his speech.

"The alteration I've felt in the spheres, the same change I felt in the creatures own magic, has grown tremendously. Even now, I can feel many like presences moving about throughout nearly every layer of reality." something almost approaching a sliver of fear slips into their lord's voice, startling the Hursihim, for never before had they heard such a thing. "And beyond that, I saw something, something that I partly saw in the creature itself, but I also felt it in the beyond."

"Something garbled in Scarlet. Something hateful and writhing in an infinite expanse of flames and screams. And It is coming."

Current list of Traits, Skills and Friends.

>Trait- Fearless (B++): You do not fear the darkness or anything within it. Though you might end up somewhat unnerved.
>Trait- Happy Dancer (C+): You tend to dance when youre really happy or when youve succeeded at a great task. You aren't really all that good right now, but you arent exactly bad at it either.

Skills
>Rain-Call (F): You may summon a permanent drizzling of rain (complete with accompanying thunderstorm) in any area that you currently reside within, disregarding any dimensional blockages or other forms of preventative measure
>Snow-Storm (F+): You can spontaneously generate a freezing effect capable of completely encasing an entire area in a layer of permafrost. Requires the use of a Dream Trinket or another active trinket

Friends
>Vuindred the Black: The Archmage who lords over the Shaded Palace. Doesn't seem to like you all that much. Which is okay, because you really like him!
>Wisps/Hursih: Strange manifestations of spiritual energy. Are actually really nice, and even gave you a small tour of the Palace. You can't really tell them apart though.

Not really "own", so much as the entire realm *is* him. He's a WoD-style Archamage. Everything in the Shaded Palace is an extension of himself, or was otherwise crafted from his power.
