>Welcome back to a Song of Sand and Steel, the Game of Thrones narrative game. Our House is House Blacksand, a new house in the Dornish Marches, who are much despised by their neighbours. Our Lady is Lissara Blacksand, a beautiful femme fatale, who is a dab hand with a spear. We are currently in Sunspear, having barely escaped with our life from an assassination attempt, both the fault of Oberyn and the reason we survived.

You feel yourself slipping in and out of consciousness, visions of people swimming in your mind. A olive skinned man, wearing red, with white hair, staring down at you, as a man with a chain on his neck pours a sweet liquid down your throat. A tall man with a thick white beard, standing at the door, as Elia lies next to you, her breathing warming your cheek. Oberyn speaking angrily with the white haired man, his voice low and incoherent, but his eyes flaring. Ser Ascar kneeling at the foot of your bed, tears flowing down his face, his hands red. The ground falling away, before swaying beneath you, as the man with the chain presses a cold cloth onto your head, and places a burning salve onto your side, causing your head to throb with time with your wound.

You open your eyes, and find yourself lying in a wooden room, the floor moving. Ser Ascar is kneeling at the foot of your bed, wearing full armour, his head lolling to the side, his eyes closed. You can hear bird cries, and a pale light is shining in through a wooden window. You are dressed in a smooth white silk shirt and leggings, and you touch your side, feeling at the wound. You feel several strips of cloth, but no pain. Looking down, and lifting the shirt, you see a clean and fresh dressing, with a slight tint of purple on the edges, and as you feel them, your fingers come away smelling of lavender. The door opens, and you see the Maester of Sunspear stepping through, who smiles as he sees you. He heads over to a small table, and pours clear water into a goblet and handing it to you. As you drink, he examines the dressings, and nods approvingly.

"The wound has fully recovered, my lady, you'll have full mobility back after some small exercises which you can do once we make land." the maester whispers, "If you could keep your questions quiet, Ser Ascar hasn't slept in 3 days, and it's not good for him."

"What happened after I passed out? I can only remember fragments." you say, your voice thin after misuse

"Prince Oberyn carried you up the Tower of the Sun and to a room. He then went and dragged myself, and Prince Doran out of the great hall, and ordered me to get dreamwine, and to check his application of Myrish fire. I tended you, while Areo Hotah stood watch, along with Ser Ascar when he found out. I kept you in a dream state with dreamwine, we tried briefly to wake you when we changed your dressings first, but you began screaming in pain, due to the Myrish Fire. While it did help, it's not intended for use on deep wounds, though I think Prince Oberyn was more concerned with venom being on the blade than how much pain you would be in."

The Maester glances at Ser Ascar, before continuing.
"Oberyn was very angry. He wanted to arrest all the minor nobles in the city and stand them in a viper pit till one confessed, but his brother decided to move more carefully. He spread the story that Ser Ascar had rescued you, and that he had smuggled you onto a ship, along with your escort and had fled the city. It was announced I was heading to the Citadel to celebrate the hundredth year of my former tutor, which explained my absence. We were joined by a small flotilla of Martell ships, who escorted us here. We're 2 hours from Shadowpeak. Prince Doran asked me to give you this, and for you not to open it till you are in Shadowpeak, and with people you trust. I'll send Lady Jelissa along shortly to help you dress. Try to get some rest."

He begins unwrapping your bandages, laying them to the side. In your side is a jagged scar, the skin bunched up and taught. the skin around it looks red and aggravated, but there seems to be no sign of a wound.

"Where is Elia? I remember her being with me..."

"Your daughter is up on deck. Jelissa is keeping an eye on her. Ser Nestar was telling her stories of Volantis when I was last up on deck."

"Ser Nestar?"

"A knight who accompanied Oberyn back from Essos a few years ago. He was a Second Son, but Oberyn invited him back. Oberyn said he might be useful, though I'm not sure what he meant by that. He looked very smug on the dock as he saw the ship off. Now, please, lie back and rest, but don't fall asleep. When Lady Jelissa comes down, start walking around on deck. You should be fine, once you've shaken the dust off."

The Maester leaves, and you drink some more water. After a few minutes, Jelissa opens the door carefully, seeing Ser Ascar, she closes the door again, then opens it fully, holding Elia's hand as Elia tiptoes past the still sleeping Ser Ascar, and comes to the edge of the bed. Elia hugs you, and whispers in your ear.

"Ser Nestar is holding Baba. I'm happy you're not dead!" She whispers, before tiptoeing around to the other side of the bed. Jelissa comes closer, and kneels down next to you.

"Elia, could you please fetch your mothers traveling clothes. The brown leather leggins, the white shirt." Jelissa asks, and as Elia moves away, Jelissa whispers in your ear.
"She doesn't understand how serious it was. She knows you were injured, but not how it happened. Now, lets get you dressed."

As you swing your legs out of bed, Jelissa begins helping you pull on your clothing. Elia is slowly waving her hand in front of Ser Ascars face, and is about to poke him, when you frown at her, and she giggles. At the giggle, Ser Ascar starts awake, and blinks. Seeing you awake, and standing, he immediately bows his head.

"My lady, I must request you release me from your service. I failed you, and you were almost killed. Release me, so my actions will bring no more harm onto you."
Jelissa blinks a few times, before picking Elia up in her arms, and walking out, Elia looking confused at what is happening. Ser Ascar continues kneeling, his head low, as tears begin falling onto the floor from his unshaven chin.
"Please my lady. I am not worthy to serve your household. I will take the black for my failure."

>Refuse, tell him it wasn't his fault, and that you won't loose him?

"I will not release you, Ser Ascar. You have to atone to me, not to the realm, or the Seven. How would you atone for failing me, by freezing on the wall? You will stay, and redeem yourself by protecting my family. Now, the Maester told me to exercise. I leave you with your thoughts. And for the Father's sake, shave your chin."

Ser Ascar blinks a few times, before swallowing, as you walk past him slowly, stepping through the door. Jelissa is standing there, watching as Elia is jumping between piles of rope, her monkey imitating her, jumping from the piles, keeping pace with her. A tall man wearing battered half plate is leaning against the side of the ship, a 3 foot package, wrapped in oilskins next to him. He's blowing kisses towards Jelissa, who is ignoring him. Seeing you, he bows, and pushes himself off of the side, and walks over.

"Greetings, my lady. Vipereyes told me to give you this before I told you my full name. He said you might react poorly if I told you it in full."

He holds out a folded piece of paper, fairly grimy.

Taking the small piece of paper, you unfold it slowly. Written in a spidery scrawl is a short note, next to a sketch of a coat of arms, a foot stamping on a dead snake.

Lady Lissara, let me make amends for the incident surrounding your swearing of fealty. It was improper of me, my brother says I have issues with self-control, though I've never had complaints from Ellaria. The man who I have asked to help you is Ser Nestar Wyl. He killed his younger brother in a fight, they were fighting over a whore. Lord Cordan didn't look kindly at his middle son killing the spare son, so exiled him. Don't hold his name against him, I'd recommend taking him into your service. He has certain skills and other things that might be useful to you, beyond his sword arm. Doran is watching me write this, so I can't put anything more. You'll see in a week or two.

Folding the paper up, you frown.

"So you are from the same people whose favourite port I seized? I see why Oberyn didn't want me to jump to conclusions. He says you have skills?"

"I'm a skilled tracker. I kill people well. And no lady has ever been sorry for meeting me." He says, before blowing another kiss to Jelissa, who rolls her eyes, and turns away. Nestar grins, and picks a small roll of cloth at his feet and shakes it out. It's a tabard, with the same symbol as was drawn on the paper.

"Thought it was suitable for my grand return to Westeros. Something to show my opinions towards my family. Can't be a knight in Westeros without a coat of arms, no?"
He blows a kiss, to the back of Jelissa, then goes down on one knee.

"I offer my sword in service to you, Lady Lissara Blacksand, if you will have it."

Combining accepting with Questioning his loyalty

“I’ll accept, but I’d be a fool not to question a gift from the Red Viper. What’s to say you’re not here to spy on me, to whisper my secrets to Oberyn?”

Ser Nestar tilts his head, and unwraps a greatsword, laying it on the deck.

“Honestly, I’d be a terrible spy. I’m a windblown sellsword from Essos, well known as a friend of Vipereyes. I killed with him in Mereen, though I still say its down to me not using Basilisk venom on my blade. No sense in using me anyway. If the Martells wanted to know what you’re doing, they’d send an “observer” to “keep the peace” in the Marches, and ask you to house them. Or they’d use someone closer to you, someone you trust. Anyway, if I betray you, I’ll be the first to hand you my sword to cut my head off.”

Nodding, you stare closely at him.
“Very well, I agree. I accept your service.”

Ser Nestar grins, then re-wraps his greatsword, before wandering over to the opposite side of the ship, and continues blowing kisses at Jelissa. Shaking your head, you walk to the front of the boat, staring at Shadowpeak in the distance, the castle looming over the port. You see a small dust cloud on the road between the two, as a small party rides towards the port. Jelissa turns to Elia, and calls out to her.
“Elia, go and get changed, we’ll be home soon.” As Elia hurries towards the cabins, Jelissa joins you.

“Shadowpeak. Its impressive, the Tor is bigger, but not so… dominating.”
“Well, I hope you’ll be happy. But you’ll have to get used to the Twins.”
Jelissa’s eyes widen slightly, but quickly settles into a implacable mask, as Ser Nestar joins the two of you.
“I always loved that castle. My father must have been irate when it was taken away.”

“Ser Nestar, go and make yourself presentable, otherwise Ser Ascar may think you are insulting me. He’s already duelled an Allyrion into unconsciousness for me.”

Ser Nestar throws his hands up, and walks back down the deck. As he goes, Jelissa watches him, smiling slightly.
“He’d be fun, but he’s too firey. I’m not going to go near someone the Red Viper thinks is a good friend.”
“You don’t have to marry him, just… have some fun.”
“I’d prefer something more solid, more stoic...”
She gazes wistfully down the boat, as Ser Ascar steps out of the Cabin, his face red from where he has dragged his belt knife over it. Jelissa quickly turns around, and looks forward.
>>
>>2853424
The rowboat pulls up next to the pier, and Carth runs forward, Ser Darvin standing with the twins on either shoulder. Carth lifts you from boat, wraps his arms around you and lifts you off the ground, kissing you on the mouth.

"Lissara, you're back! Oh how I've missed you!"
Elia runs down the pier towards him, and hugs him around the legs.
"Dada! I've got a monkey, its called Baba! And we got songbirds, and Ser Ascar hit a rude man, and I caught a fish and.."
Carth puts you down, and picks up Elia, kissing her on the cheek.
"Quite the time you had! Now, come along, lets get back to the castle."
Carth turns, and as he does, sees Ser Nestar following Jelissa up off the boat, the long package hung on his shoulders.

"Well, Lissara, it appears you've got much to tell me? And why have you come back on a Martell ship?"

"This is Jelissa, of House Jordayne. I've brought her on as a handmaiden, it was pointed out to me that brushing my own hair was unsuitable. And this is Ser Nestar. Prince Oberyn recommended him as a sworn sword."
"Well, I trust your sense of judgement. Now, lets get up to the castle, and we can talk there."

Carth lifts you up into his saddle, and the whole group of you ride up to the Castle. Carth walks with you up to Solar, and you see Ser Ascar and Ser Darvin talking in a low voice, Ser Nestar leaning on the wall next to them. Jelissa and Elia go with the twins to put the birdcage somewhere, the monkey hopping along as the twins crowd around their sister. Carth sits down in the Solar, and pours you a goblet. You go through the trip, how Yronwood was very formal, but welcoming, and get to the Duel. Carth raises his goblet to Ser Ascar when he hears of the knights victory. He expresses curiosity at the relics, but is more interested in the meeting with Ellaria, laughing when you tell how she thought you were a whore, saying he hoped the whores in Sunspear didn’t tire you out. Taking this as you opportunity, you assure him none were as handsome as him, and lead him by the hand to your shared chambers.

Afterwards, as the sun is getting low outside, Carth is lying there with his eyes closed, breathing hard. You had managed to hide the scar, using the low light level, and the fact that you can keep him distracted. However, you know you cannot leave things hidden.

“Carth, things didn’t go so smoothly. There was… an incident. Oberyn thought it would be funny to lightly poison me when I swore my oath. Ellaria made him treat me, and apologise. Thats partly why Ser Nestar is here. But its something else. Someone tried to have me killed.”

Carth had sat up as you’d spoken, but at this he immediately stands, and grabs you, searching your body. He finds the scar, and glares at you.
“What happened? Is this what it was? Who did it!?”

“Calm down, Carth. The man is dead, Oberyn was drinking nearby and intervened, but not before he stabbed my bad. It’s why I came back on the Martell’s ship. Oberyn felt guilty apparently.”

Carth breathes heavily a few times, before wrapping his arms around you and pulling you tight.
"I'm going to see whoever did this crawl in the dirt...."

>(21-30) Defensible, with at least one fortified town or castle. Roads and trails are present, and rivers or ports are likely.
>(31-40) A minor house. Examples include House Clegane, House Payne, and House Karstark
>(41-50) A large area of land, that spreads across a great distance. This area likely includes a variety of terrain features. House Martell’s control of Dorne is representative of this level of resource.
>(21-30) The typical level of Law throughout much of Westeros. Crime is common but not out of control.
>(21-30) Typical population. Most smallfolk live on farmsteads or in hamlets, but you might have a couple of small towns and a community around your primary fortification.
>(41-50) A large force of diverse, trained, and competent soldiers. You probably also have the services of a small navy as well. Several banner houses are sworn to you.
>(21-30) Common. Your family has enough to get by.
>>

>"A knight who accompanied Oberyn back from Essos a few years ago. He was a Second Son, but Oberyn invited him back

Oh shit he probably knows Brynden Malroy then and the Sons of Gold too. Maybe someday we'll get some stories from his sellswording days
>>
>Early Start today!

Carth seems to handle the news of your near-death experience by throwing himself into the business of managing the house. He spends days pouring over ledgers, double checking amounts. He seems slightly surprised at how much you and Ser Ascar spent at Sunspear, but your coffers cover the losses. Maester Borrell informs you that Master Hotas has arrived in Shadowpeak, and while he isn't conducting much actual business in Shadowpeak, the port is seeing an uptick of activity. However, it is the news he brings you a week after your return that interests you more...

You and Carth are playing with Baba, as Calrin and Cerran clap from where they sit on the floor. Carth is placing treats around the room, as you cover Baba's eyes. Jelissa is re-brushing Elia's hair, as Elia watches Baba run up ontop the bookshelf, and reach inside a small chest, pulling out a small segment of orange. Maester Borrel steps into the room, and bows.

"My Lady, my Lord, a raven has come from the Bank of Bays. They say their chief negotiator left the Vale 12 days ago, and is travelling here, in order to discuss business."

Carth looks up, and nods.
"We should prepare something. If they were unwilling to speak with us on principal, sweetening the pot might be a good move. A small expensive meal, or some form of entertainment. I honestly don't know anything about Pentoshi nobility, what should we do?"

"I would advise food and wine. Having Master Hotas in Shadowpeak will be an asset, and we might speak to him about Pentos, he may have a better idea of the fashions over there."

"What can we do about food and drink? That would be most important, it's going to be the first thing they experience beyond our greeting them."

"Well, I must confess, I know very little of Pentoshi luxuries, but we can make a show based on how luxurious you desire to be. A normal feast, as you would put on for a birthday, or a midsummer celebration, or the coming of spring, would be easy to do, but not exactly extravagant. We could make an exceptionally Dornish feast, with luxuries from Yronwood and Sunspear, a fast caravan could purchase them in time before the envoy makes it here. Or we go over the top, fetch the finest foods and luxuries, Essosi rarities, chocolate and spices from the Summer Islands, Sothoryos and beyond Valyria. As for wine, I'm certain Master Hotas could suggest some fine vintages, though again, price would come up."

Carth frowns.
"The problem we face is we know nothing about the negotiator. He could be a Westerosi, employed by the bank, or a Norvoshi ascetic. We'll need to speak to Master Hotas about wine anyway, so we can ask him when he comes here. Borrell, please send a runner to fetch him."

"Yes my lord. Do you wish anyone else to consult with, or just Master Hotas?"

"No, just Master Hotas. No need to crowd the room. Jelissa, could you take the children somewhere, myself and Carth will need some quiet."
Borrell bows, and holds the door open for Jelissa, who leads the children out of the Solar. Baba jumps down behind Elia, and scrambles up onto her shoulder. Carth takes the chance to straighten out the room, and return some of the scrolls that are scattered around the floor to their correct places. You are waiting for about ten minutes, when there is a knock on the door, and Master Hotas steps through. Carth is seated behind the desk, while you are standing by the fireplace. Carth looks up from the blank piece of paper he was holding, and looks pleased as he sees Master Hotas.

"Ahh, Master Hotas. So good to see you. I trust Shadowpeak is treating you well?"

Master Hotas nods, bowing his head.
"Yes my lord, I find it to be as suitable as your wife promised it would be, not having to pay the Boneway or Princes Pass tolls is a great help. Now, Maester Borrell said you had business and questions for me? Which do you want to handle first?"

"I think questions first. We are expecting a visit from a Pentoshi banker, and we know little of Pentoshi tastes. We thought your experience with Essos might prove useful."

Master Hotas' face falls, and he frowns.

"Pentoshi are degenerate slaver scum. They have been forced to hide their actions by Braavos, but that doesn't change their flaunting of the numerous treaties we have with them. As for their taste, I have yet to meet a rich Pentoshi who was not so lazy as to never have walked a mile in their life. Anything that helps them in that aim will please them. As for wine, offer them everything, but make sure they only select one you have. Pentoshi respect a well stocked cellar, but you don't have to have it for them to think so. As for food, spiced and rich, thats all that matters. Pentoshi like to taste the gold that was spent to buy the food."

Carth frowns.
"This sounds like it's going to get expensive."

Master Hotas shrugs.
"Pentoshi. They like gold and making others work for them. What are you planning to do for food? If I know that, I can offer you some wine suggestions."

Carth glances at you.

"We plan to have a Dornish feast. We don't have time to get food from Essos and further a field, so we'll do the best Dorne can provide. Stuffed eggs, larks in orange sauce, dragon peppers, citrus fruit with ice, that sort of thing." you say, as Carth makes a few notes on the paper in front of him.

Master Hotas nods, and thinks for a few moments.

"In which case, I'd suggest some sweeter wines. Arbor Gold would be a good cheap option, and you can have enough for a feast without problem. More expensive, but very thematic would be a Pentoshi amber, should remind him of home, and cool the mouth quite well. Should also satisfy any sweet tooth he has. Finally, the Plum wine I offered you to taste in Sunspear. It would be exceptionally pricey, to have enough to serve the man while he is here, but you could get two casks, and give one as a gift? And drink differently yourself? either way, it would be very costly, I've only got 3 casks of it, and those are very small."

"Pentoshi Amber. No sense in breaking the bank, but some extravagance is called for. We'll offer him Amber Gold as well, but our stocks should cover it. Thank you, Master Hotas. You've been very helpful."

Hotas bows, and leaves. Carth turns to you, and taps his quill.
"We might want to go for some entertainment. Even if it's just some singers, a silent meal, or a meal only containing business talk is a dire thing. We could get any singer from the nearby lands, or try to get a group of musicians. We could spend more, and get some dancing girls from Sunspear if you wanted. Though I must admit, I don't know what would look good. I'm not a "degenerate" as Hotas put it."

"You can be very degenerate when you want to be..." you say, walking over. Carth puts his hand up, and points to the paper.
"Entertainment first, then "entertainment"."

"No sense in being too costly. A singer will be happy to serve the role, and we won't need to pay them anything in particular."

"Well, that's it then. Do you want to send out some people to search for a singer, so as to find a good one, or just check around? We can send scouts and soldiers, they'll get a wider area covered, but if we send Sers Darvin, Ascar and Nestar, they might have a better idea of what would be suitable."

16, 16, 18 vs TN 18 (1 degree of success)

It's been about two days, when Ruger enters the Solar, and bows, saying his scouts have returned with 4 singers, who were willing to travel to Shadowpeak. You and Carth were in the process of planning out where the meal would take place. Carth smiles at the news, he'd been stressing over the lack of entertainment for the last few days.

"Well, bring them in. Lets speak to them. One at a time, though, no sense in crowding the room." you say, seating yourself on Carth's lap, your legs up across his lap, your hands wrapped around his neck. Carth looks confused, so you whipser in his ear.

"I don't want you getting seduced by some singer girl. So I'm just reminding you I'm here, given how much you've been stressing over this..."

Carth grins, and puts an arm around you, as a man wearing bright blue and red motley steps through the door.

"Greetings my Lord, and to your lady wife. I am Olivar the Lark, recently of Highgarden, where I serenaded the young Lady Tyrell and her brothers, and Lord Tyrell attributed me with a voice of a lark, hence my new moniker! There is no need to even consider the other harp pluckers outside, I am all you will need...."

You raise a hand, and silence him.
"I was under the impression that it was music that we wanted, not eloquent titles. Please, demonstrate..."

"Yes, my Lady, I'm sure your Lord husband will be pleased with my skills."

Olivar takes out a fiddle, and plays a skilled rendition of Fair Maids of Summer. His voice seems fine, but it his musical skill that catches your ear. when he finishes with a flourish, Carth thanks him, and tells him to go to the kitchen, to be fed, and given something to drink, and that Ruger will show him the way. Looking slightly affronted, he leaves, and is followed by a short man wearing a hood, holding a harp. He bows, and begins to play. If anything, his music is even better than Olivars, though he doesn't sing the entire time. The harp sounds exceptional though, and you and Carth are silent throughout. Once he finishes, you lean forward slightly, and ask.

"Why don't you sing? Isn't that a requirement for a bard?"

The man bows again, and opens his mouth. Inside, you can see his tongue has been cut out. Carth gags slightly, and gestures for the man to leave, telling him the same about the kitchen.
>>
>>2856256
If the singer without a tongue was strange, the woman who walks through next is even stranger. Completely bald, her skin is a deep olive, and under her right eye is a tear shaped scar. She is wearing purple silks, with small golden chains running from bracelets to a golden collar around her neck. When she speaks, her accent sounds Essosi.

"Forgive me, My lady, but my sister, outside? She is my companion, we are a duet."

Carth looks at you, and when you shrug, he calls for Ruger to send the next singer in as well. The woman who walks through looks almost identical, except her jewelry is silver. She has a matching scar, except it is underneath her left eye. After bowing, the two of them kneel, and then begin to sing, a song you recognise as The Dance of the Dragons, a lament of the Doom of Valyria. You have never heard it sung by two women, but the two voices appear to complement each other almost perfectly. When the song ends, you feel Carth move slightly, and see him wiping a tear from his eye. Seeing your husband is in no state to talk, you take the initiative.

"That was beautiful. What are your names?"

"I am Orolana"
"I am Oroleah"
The two of them say in almost unison. Dismissing them, you turn to Carth, and pinch him gently on the arm, snapping him out of the mood he's in.

"Carth... we need to make a decision. Preferably before they finish eating..."

Carth sniffs, then shakes his head slightly.

"We have a choice between the best music, the best singing, and one who can do both. Unless appearance plays into it..."

Okay, so people want to do a "final round" between the sisters and Olivar, or make a final decision.

Pros

>Find out how deep their range is, if they can hold up?

Cons
>May offend them if any have egos.
>May cause arguments between the two

“We need music, not just singing. But I can’t let those girls leave after they made you weep, Carth. I’m going to make sure you get to enjoy that again. And Olivar will do well filling the room when we need to speak. If that’s fine with you...”

Carth swallows, and wipes his eyes. He takes a deep breath, and smiles at you.

“Yes. We’ll tell the three of them we’re employing them. No sense in under-doing it, if we are trying to show off.”

The twins simply curtsey in thanks to you when you and Carth call them in, and tell them both they and Olivar will be performing. Olivar, on the other hand, steps forward and shakes Carth’s hand, waggling his eyebrows.
“I know why I’d keep them around my Lord, but don’t let her Ladyship find out, eh!”
He laughs loudly, bows floridly, and performs a trill on his lute.
“My Lord I will not let you down! Just make sure I’m front and centre, the Essosi can sing from behind a curtain.”
Before you or Carth can respond, Olivar walks out backwards. Shaking his head, Carth sighs, and begins to resume planning the layout of the feast.
>>
>>2856615
You are walking down the corridor when you see Ser Nestar gazing out the window. He’s scratching his rough beard, and looking somewhat confused. As you come closer, you can hear Ololana and Ololeah singing, and moving next to Ser Nestar, you see the two girls singing together, in a tongue you can’t understand, sitting on the inner wall of Shadowpeak. Ser Nestar taps his fingers on the windowsill, and frowns deeply.

“My lady, I asked Ruger where those girls came from. He said one of his scouts heard them singing in a tavern in the Rainwood, and invited them here, to perform. But I swear I’ve heard them before...”

“Well Ser Nestar? Is there anything you think you should tell me?”

“No, I’ll not make statements I can’t back up. It’s probably nothing, I’ve seen dozens of Volantene girls singing, and that style isn’t uncommon. Its nothing, I’m sure. Apologies for even bringing it up, my Lady.”

Leaving Ser Nestar, you walk past the Solar, and hear Carth speaking inside.

“Master Olivar, I have made it quite clear. The twins will be singing first, then you will perform quiet melodies throughout the dinner, and then they will sing at the end. You will both be paid the same amount.”

“My lord, you’re trusting an important matter to some people who are barely tested, they have no name in Westeros. I know every major singer, from here to the Neck, and I can’t think of a single singer who matches them, let alone two. Essosi singers may be exotic, but they are fundamentally not as skilled as a Westerosi bard. I bet they can’t even turn a Marcher Ballard. Your wife may have a taste for the exotic, but I’d think a Lord of a House could put impressing his guest above his wife’s personal tastes..”

“You haven’t been in Dorne much, have you Master Olivar.” you hear Carth say, his voice adopting a steely tone you haven’t heard since he said he was going to fight alongside you against the bandits.

“Well, no not as such. I’ve performed at Casterly Rock, High Garden, even at the wedding of Lord Rosby, but this is my first time in Dorne...”

You step through the door, clearing your throat loudly. Carth is sitting down, one hand clenched on the table, the other hidden from site. Olivar the Lark is standing infront of him, but is looking towards the window, his arm raised towards the window in an exaggerated gesture. As you enter, Olivar turns, and immediately bows, flourishing his hand high above his back.

“Master Olivar, you may not be aware, but I am the Lady of Shadowpeak. Carth Penrose is my husband. My father held this title, and it passed to me, I recently returned from Sunspear, where I swore fealty to House Martell. You have made a gross mistake, Master Olivar, and I expect you to apologise. Now.”

Olivar turns quite pale, and immediately stutters out.

“My lady, I pray forgive me, I did not know...”

“Out.” says Carth. “You will provide music softly during the meal, and sing only if asked.”

Olivar almost runs out, and as he does, you can hear Ser Nestar call after him.

“Hurry, reach boy, they’re picking all the flowers! Run quick, or you’ll be plucked!” before laughing loudly.

Carth unclenches his fist and lifts his other hand up, revealing it holding a dagger.

“If you hadn’t come in I’d have stabbed him. I can handle the ego, but his arrogance, I can’t believe he behaved that way in Casterly Rock, if half of what I’ve heard of Tywin Lannister is true.”

“Well, he won’t have to stay around. Not unless he changes his attitude completely.”

Carth closes his eyes, and massages his temples. Walking around, you move his hands away, and begin doing it yourself. Carth groans, and breathes out in a long drawn out sigh. You slide his chair back, and slip into his lap, still massaging his temples, and kiss him. Carth opens his eyes and smiles resignedly.
“And here I was thinking of taking a nap….”

The next, day, as you are watching from the walls of Shadowpeak, one of your warships sails into port, and a cabin boy jumps over the side and runs through the port. He dashes up the winding path, and stops panting outside the gate. He hands a small note to the guard, who brings it inside, where Borrell is called for, and who then heads inside, before coming out a few minutes later, scanning the walls. Seeing you, he hurries up to you and hands the note over.

Reading it, you see it is from one of your ship captains. Apparently, they saw a ship with gulltown colours sailing towards the port on the horizon, and figuring the only reason a vale ship would be sailing this way was to visit, sent word of it back.

"My lady, this is most likely the banker, they will be here in a few hours. We need to decide how you will greet them."

Carth spits out the seeds of the orange he was eating, and shrugs.

"We can have the family there, though that might not be suitable, given how young the children are. Or our retainers, fully armoured, they look impressive enough."

Borrell pauses breifly.
"If impressive is what we are looking for, then a full military presence, surely. Our infantry look most impressive, though that might be too much, make them think they are too important."

"We'll have the knights only. No sense in risking the children blurting something out. Borrell, please go and tell them to make ready."

As Borrell bows and hurries away, Carth offers you his arm, and the two of you saunter inside, preparing for the meeting.

"Now, my Lady, hold still. I'm putting the colour onto your eyelids, it'll make them stand out more. But you mustn't blink while I do it."

You feel something smooth drag across your eyelids, before Jelissa speaks again.

"Now, open your eyes, and blink twice."

You open your eyes, and see a thin brush directly in-front of your face. Blinking, you pull back, only for Jelissa to lean in closer, and then nod.
"Good, it applied. Don't rub your eyes, otherwise it'll stain your fingers. Now, for scent, I recommend this, crushed mountain flowers. And your dress is ready, once you have applied it."

Jelissa hands you a small wad of cloth, that smells strongly of flowers. Seeing you look confused, she mimes dabbing it on her neck, before picking up your dress, and bringing it over. After dabbing the cloth experimentally onto your neck, you step into the dress, and Jelissa pulls it tight. She hands you two rings, and then clasps the silver and amethyst necklace around your neck.
"Right, of you go, don't step in any puddles, or ride too quickly, it'll kick up dust."

Stepping out of your chamber, you see Carth, Ser Ascar and Ser Nestar standing outside. Ser Ascar freezes in place, while Ser Nestar lets out a low whistle. Carth raises his eyebrows at the two of them, before taking your arm, and striding down the hall. Carth is wearing a doublet of dark blue and black, a stiletto dagger at his hip. Ser Ascar and Ser Nestar are in their armour, and their faces look freshly washed. Ser Nestar has even shaved...

"Ser Darvin has the horses ready, we should ride up, just after the ship docks." says Carth, and as you step into the sun, he lifts you up onto your sand steed, saddled and ready to go. Ser Darvin is holding the reins, and looks similarly scrubbed, though his beard is still firmly in place. The knights mount up behind you, and you ride down towards the dock.
>>

When you arrive, as Carth said, the ship has been docked for about a minute, and a few people are coming down the ramp. They are dressed in yellow silks, with leather collars around their necks, and are carrying small chests, which they place at the end of the pier. Then, a figure appears at the top of the ramp, leaning on two summer islands men, his girth making it briefly difficult for him to get off of the ship. He looks a little green, and as he slowly walks down the ramp, he staggers slightly. A smell of sweat and vomit carries to you, though your perfume goes some way to covering it up. The man reaches the bottom of the ramp, and blinks a few times, before vomiting into the water. He straightens up, and gives a weak smile towards you, as one of the collared figures move forward, holding out a wineskin. The man takes a mouthful, spits into the water again, and then takes another long swig. He then opens his mouth, revealing teeth of gold, and one of the summer islanders speaks.

"The Honoured Nararo Aros, Chief officer of the Bank of Bays in Westeros. Visiting the Lady of Shadowpeak, Lady Lissara Blacksand."

The banker sways slightly, as you and Carth dismount, and walk closer. Breathing shallowly, you bow, and greet him.

"Honoured Nararo Aros, I welcome you to Shadowpeak. I trust your time will be comfortable, and profitable here."

Aros sways, and raises a hand, lowering his head slightly, and then leans forward, bowing, supported by the two summer islanders. His hand is trembling slightly, but other than that, he seems to be recovered from his vomiting.

"Lady Lissara, your beauty is as the dawn. I fear that travel around the Stormlands lived up to its name, and I find myself quite unwell. May i trouble you to allow myself a day of rest, before we move onto the assessment of your lands?"

"Of course, Honoured Aros. Come, a room has been made ready for you."

As you walk back towards your horse, you hear a small whimper come from the fat pentoshi. Glancing back, you see him staring at the path up to Shadowpeak, a look of anguish on his face. You see no horses being brought down the ramp, and you doubt any would be able to carry him up the twisting path. He bows again, and takes a few steps forward.

"My lady, can I appeal for you to conduct our business in the port? I am a poor rider, and the path looks daunting while I have yet to loose my unsteadiness."

>Agree, conduct business in the Port tavern. (Feast will be worse)
>Disagree, he'll have to make the climb, but the hospitality would be worth it?

"Honoured Aros, please do not stress yourself over such things." you say, before turning in your saddle.
"Ser Darvin, is the carriage ready for use? Could it be fetched?"
Ser Darvin nods, and turns his horse around riding up the path. Aros looks relieved, and waves his hand towards the boxes and calls something in Pentoshi to his servants. They open one of the chests, and take out a wooden, cushioned bench, the length of the chest, and place it down, while unpacking four poles and a linen sheet. They set it up, and Nararo lowers himself onto it, sighing loudly.

"My lady, you would not know the trials this poor servant of yours has been through. A storm hit off of Estermont, and my poor constitution has not recovered. I have been quite distraught, and unable to rest my eyes properly."

" I am sure it was horrible, Honoured Aros." says Carth, as the small group of you stand there in awkward silence. A servant offers Aros a small dish of some morsel that crunches loudly as he eats them, whole handfuls at a time. It lasts about five minutes, as the carriage can be seen, coming down the trail. Aros is lifted to his feet by the summer islanders, and helped to the carriage, stepping inside with a loud creak. The other servants pick up the chests, after packing away the bench and cover, and move behind the carriage. The horses ride off, and as you go up the trail, the carriage creaks and groans, but manages to reach the top without breaking. You ride in through the gate, and Aros' servants begin taking chests through the keep, as directed by Maester Borrell. Once Aros has been transported upstairs by his manservants, you and Carth see your horses stabled, before heading to the Solar. You step inside, and shudder, as Carth pours a small dish full of water, and washes his hands.

"How could a man get so big and still live...."

>>2859147
Mainly sweat stained, Dorne isn't humid, so Aros isn't sweating quite as much as he was in the hot castle in the Vale, or Kings Landing in the height of summer. The sweat is mainly from him being sick

You and Carth have been recovering from the meeting, when you hear a knock on the door, and Ser Nestar steps in. He looks pleased with himself, and as he bows, he begins speaking.

"My lady, I've remembered where I saw those girls before. About 5 years ago, the Second Sons were being used as bodyguards for a Pentoshi, at a peace meeting between Myr and Volantis. It took place in a huge tent, with slaves attending every need, and in the centre, a raised platform, where the Myrish and and Malaquo Maegyr, the triarch representing the Volantenes were discussing peace with our charge, who was there to be a neutral party. Malaquo Maegyr had brought all sorts of dancing girls and boys, but at the foot of his seat were two girls he called Sun and Moon, and they sang for us. Our employer complemented Maegyr on his fine taste in slaves, and Maegyr offered to send them to him for a short while, so he could show off. The Pentoshi agreed, and Maegyr said he'd send them by ship, once the peace had been accepted in Volantis. However, when the ship arrived, they said the girls had jumped over the side, and had been lost. Our master was furious, and it cost us our employment, since he stayed in his mansion and sulked for a month. The two twins, they look exactly like the girls, their voice is similar as well."

Carth looks surprised.
"I knew they were from Essos, but escaped slaves? How could they have done this? And are you certain? To escape from a ship, and get to Westeros would be very hard."

Ser Nestar nods his head emphatically.

"Yes. I'd never forget those voices, just needed some time to think about it."

Carth shrugs

"Well, if its true, they're in Westeros. Slavery's been illegal here since before Aegon, and Volantis is a long way away. And it might not even be the case. Still, we should ask them. And if its true, it might be prudent not to have them perform. Who knows who the banker might talk to, and bad news travels fast."

"We'll have to stop them from performing. If he's that fat, I doubt he has much in the way of self control. It takes one rumour before we have a Triarch of Volantis hating us, along with most of the Marches. We'll not show them to Nararo."

Carth shrugs, and notes something down.
"Olivar will be intolerable, but I can mitigate that somewhat. Ser Nestar, please go and tell him to prepare something for the opening of the meal. And scare him if he looks too smug, please."

Ser Nestar nods, and steps outside. Carth clutches his head.

"Thats all we need. We'll ask them afterwards, find out if it's true, and decide what to do then. Seven, why!"

--------------
Later that evening, You and Carth walk down to the great hall. It has been decorated with long, flowing banners of silk, your sigil painted onto them, and small bundles of mountain flowers. Olivar is sitting on a stool over to one side, tuning his lute. He has a large smug smile on his face, as he tests his strings. Ser Nestar leans in, and whispers to you.
"The minstrel was over the moon, assured me he'd play as though he were in King's Landing. The girls are in the north tower, a little confused, but they're okay."

Nodding, you step up towards the high table, sitting down with Carth, the bench you saw earlier set behind the table as well, a little way down the table. No other places are set, though Ser Ascar is standing behind the table, his shield resting on the floor in-front of him. Ser Nestar walks up next to him, resting his greatsword in its new leather sheath on the floor, his tabard displayed clearly. As Olivar begins playing "Darry's Ten", Nararo Aros appears from the main door, changed into bright purple silken clothes, and his fingers are now bedecked in golden rings. He is supported again by two summer island men, who walk him slowly down, as he cocks an ear, his face contemplative. As he takes his seat, he smiles, and runs his tongue over his lips as he stares at Ser Ascar and Ser Nestar.

"Your guards are most impressive, Lady Lissara, I was in no state to appreciate them when I arrived, but now I see them in their regalia, they quite capture the imagination..."

His breath reeks of spices, and you can smell a slight hint of urine undercutting it. He rubs his hands together, and turns to face forward, as the first course is brought out.
>>
>>2859333
Two platters of small eggs, stuffed with a mix of spices and herbs, are placed before the three of you. You and Carth take a few, and watch in surprise as Nararo delicately picks one up, and bites the egg in half, slowly chewing, his eyes closed in anticipation. He finishes, and swallows, before eating the rest of the first egg, a toad-like smile spreading across his face. He procededs to slowly eat the entire platter, carefully biting each one in turn, only interrupted when he raises his goblet. A server hurries over to him, and he turns to them.

"I desire something sweet. A wine to cool these spices. Hurry!"
The servant steps over to a small line of servants, all holding jugs. One steps forward, and fills Nararo's goblet, and as he sips, his smile gets wider, something you thought impossible.

"Pentoshi Amber, I believe? Set down 40 years ago?"

You nod, confirming the information Master Hotas had told you. Nararo nods, and gulps down the rest of the goblet, pointing to it and waits as it is refilled.

"Either you know your wines, or you have someone who does. I congratulate you. Your singer is somewhat lacking, his lute playing is tune not the harmony, but he is passable..."

You see Olivar frown, but keep playing. Nararo finishes the last but one egg, and then waves the platter away. As it is cleared, Nararo turns to you.

My lady, what do you want the Bank of Bays provide you? We have deep pockets, and we can provide many variants of financial loans..."

"Well Master Aros, we were interested in expanding the towns facilities, attempting to bring trade back, after the decline the town suffered in the Rebellion against the Mad King."

"Oh? Well, that sort of money is easy to come by, but there is a, ahem, a slight issue. The Bank of Bays is eager to extract profit from this loan, as my colleagues in Sunspear no doubt explained to you, your House is somewhat precarious. A small loan would carry a high interest rate, since without it, we'd find ourselves struggling to make a profit. But, enough business, I see the next course of this delectable meal arriving!"

Indeed, a platter of sliced lamb, rubbed with dragon peppers and thyme, and served in Pine nut and Garlic sauce has come in, along with several dozen loaves of fresh bread. Nararo moves several large pieces onto his plate, and begins pulling them apart with his fingers, dipping the bread in the sauce, placing pieces of the meat on the bread, and eating both at once. Unlike before, he eats quicker, chewing loudly, as you and Carth use your knives to cut your meat. Olivar begins to play again, "When Willum's Wife Was Wet" and you see a slight frown appear on Aros' brow. He winces slightly at something, but doesn't stop eating.

"Master Aros? Is something wrong? You look distressed."

"Oh, its simply your singer. His lute playing is acceptable, but his voice is somewhat... thin. Reedy. Like a boy who has yet to fully become a man. It's not your fault of course, but we of Pentos love our singing, and to hear a talented amateur treating themselves as some form of maestro is... concerning. Boy, we won't need your singing any more, your music will suffice. I despise having silence at the dinner table..."

Olivar looks shocked, before his face becomes set in a determined look. He continues playing and singing, and Nararo frowns, and looks at you.

"Master Olivar. I would have thought that a minstrel of your experience would know, when a guest asks you to stop, you stop. Please leave."

Olivar stands, and appears to take a deep breath, and is opening his mouth when Ser Nestar growls. Olivar turns pale, and bows, before hurrying out. Aros laughs quietly, and gives an approving nod to you.

"I do like your bodyguard, Lady Lissara. Something of the east about him I think, and he knows how to teach others their place. In Pentos, a bard who acted that way, why, he'd be in debt to me and working off his labour! It is unfortunate that we do not have any music, but my digestion will have to bear it..."

You glance at Carth, who nods, before whispering to a servant, who then hurries out of the room. Nararo looks after them, before resuming to eat. He swallows a particularly loud mouthful, and belches softly, before turning to look at you again.

"Since we have no music, I'll elaborate on my earlier point. With a loan to build a few buildings, we'd need a high interest rate, one which would be a weight around your neck for quite some time. If we did not, we would have no way to be certain of regaining our investment. The other option would be more direct. We would provide the funds, but extract the benefit, in totality, until the agreed sum had been reached."

Carth leans forward, and taps a finger on the table.
"So, you are saying, either we allow you to take all our profit for a short time, or you'll bleed us dry over a long time? That sounds fairly rough. Why would a larger loan be better for us, if you are so uncertain of lending us money?"

"Well, a larger loan could be stretched out, you would use the money as we provided it, and repay it before the next installment. Once all the money had been paid, it would only be a small matter of paying off the interest that had accrued."

"And what sort of amounts are we talking about? You seem to have very clear ideas, Master Aros." Carth responds.

"Oh, nothing extortionate. For a small loan, let us say of 5,000 dragons, we would charge an interest of 3.5%, with you repaying us either 400 or 200 dragons a month. At 200 dragons, it would be 5 years before you paid us off. At 400 dragons, it would only be a year and a half. At a larger loan, enough to build another of these halls and more, say 25,000 dragons, we would offer only a 1% interest rate on the 5000, with repayment stretched out over the period you need it. It would be eleven years, but once you had paid the interest, we would provide the money on a monthly basis, to continue whatever you need it for..."

You touch Carth on the arm, and lean back. Carth lifts up a small piece of paper, and hands it to Aros. As Aros looks at it, Carth begins to speak, while you sip your wine.

"Master Nararos, I know the free cities like to think they have the monopoly on high finance, but they do not. Your offer is most unreasonable. What is in your hand are estimates I could get from money lenders in Braavos, Volantis and Lys. As you can see, they are more than happy to extend near unlimited credit, albeit at 1.5%. Of course, they might be thieves and liars, and be hiding things from me, but your offer is still a miserly one compared. How about we settle on a loan of 5000 dragons, at 2%, rounded in your favour, paid back over 3 years, at 200 a month. However, if we are able to, we can pay it back early, with a 400 dragon closing payment. And we won't speak of you running our marketplace, once it is built, hmm?"

Nararo looks at the scrap, and then at Carth. He frowns, before steepling his fingers, and staring at Carth intently.

"I will have to think on this, my Lord. Such things are not to be considered in the middle of dinner."

"Of course, Master Aros, and I would stop you if you did, for our next course, and replacement entertainment has arrived."

Walking through the main door from the kitchen, are three servants, with three bowls of cream, poured over orange segments, coated in honey. Nararos Aros beams, and picks up his spoon, before putting it down, as the twin girls walk through the door. They are singing a lilting song, with no words, and move around the hall slowly. Aros blinks a few times, and slowly begins eating, his eyes never leaving the two girls. When he finishes, he continues watching for a while, before turning to you, and bowing his head.

"I do not know why you lead with that fool bard, when these nightingales were in your castle. Volantene trained singers, freed and brought here? The cost must have been exceptional, or the raiders exemplars of courage and fortitude. Such sincerity and intensity is what the Bank of Bays desires in it's clientele, and so, I will write a draft for 6,000 dragons, with only the first 5000 dragons at an interest of 2%, to be paid back over 3 years. And if you ever decide to embark on a large project, please, consider us, and I will assure the deal is fair and balanced. Being competitive with the Iron Bank requires you to treat your customers better than those Braavosi coin-clippers. Please, if you ever visit Pentos, the Bank of Bays will be delighted to extend a line of credit, and to ensure your stay is comfortable and luxurious."

"Well, Master Aros, we made no plans. But I believe this deal is acceptable?"

"It will take me a few days to draft the full bill for you. Once it is signed, I will message the branch in Sunspear, who will transfer the money here, under guard. You can begin planning spending it now, and it will be with you in a week or two. Now, will you excuse me, I want to enjoy this gorgeous sound..."

Naroro closes his eyes, and his pudgy hands move slowly, in time to the music. He seems enraptured, and Carth takes you by the hand and leads you down away from the high table.

"I'm just glad he didn't examine those sigils from the other banks too closely. I spilled ink on the one from "Volantis", and had to redraw it the day before he arrived."

You raise your eyebrows, and laugh, resting your head on Carth's shoulder as the two of you head up to your chambers. As you open the door, Carth gathers you up in his arms, kisses you passionately, and carries you to the bed, kicking off his shoes as he does so. You entwine your fingers into his hair, as he loosens the ties on your dress, and pulls it off...

Spends alot more time traveling to tournaments off his tourney winnings, and his family also was going to try to persuade him to have you assassinated, while he was refusing. He also would have given 0 shits about you sleeping around.

Dornish boy was a very skilled fighter, with berserk. He also would have not taken shit from anyone, and was Dornish, so would have come with a paramour, who'd have spent her whole time making friends with you, and keeping you company. Free handmaiden, functionally. Also, had a bastard.

Right, I'm very tired, and I need to be up early tommorow, so I'm going to handle some decisions about how you want to spend your money, and how much of a bank you'll leave, in case of bad House Fortune rolls, and then call it a night for me.

Yes you do, I had forgotten that. Sorry, I haven't had much sleep. Also, the marketplace port combo isn't being used, since OoSP changes the rules somewhat, (not the bonuses to house fortunes, only what is gained). Markets generate 1 wealth per estate wealth holding and Artisan holding. I will count Lyras Hotas as an artisan.

Oh I wouldn't worry about all that. The document is incomplete in terms of the house rules I use and have coopted from other sources. Doesn't even include the full food system.

I'd recommend running as you've been doing thus far. Nothing wrong with it, if you'd like to use some of the homebrew holdings in the future or allow anyone to do so that's probably the easiest. Otherwise I think you're fine. If you'd like to talk about it feel free to DM me on Twitter @Revengegoldqm.

Anyway, been enjoying the read so far. Lissara is a treat, playing her has been a nice change of pace from the usual Lords and Knights. Apparently everyone has bad luck with assassins in Dorne. And you're use of Nararo was spot on, him being used in this quest made me smile. Keep up the good work, cheers.

As a player, I'd like to suggest for our Magistrate we get Carth and Maester Borrell on it. A Marcher with intimate detail of the area might work well, might even want to go the martial route with him. A lot of good options for that character.
>>
>>2862477
Show you trip your heartless bastard
>>
We should build a brothel soon. It would fit with Lissara's lusty personality since she will want a close local establishment in her lands where she can satisfy her sexual needs, and sate her high sexual libido whenever Carth isn't available to provide her with a good dicking.

>>2864076

>>
>>2864076
not quite true, typically women even after running out of milk will be larger post pregnancy than pre. Same with hips.
>>
>>2864107
Yeah. Women's bodies in general are more voluptuous and buxom (bigger breasts, wider hips, thicker asses, etc...) after pregnancy to make them more suitable for future pregnancies and births.

Lissara post-pregnancy realistically should look like a curvy fertility sex goddess with a strong resemblance to Arianne Martell.
>>
>>2864093
It was two years ago
>>
>>2864183
Well she will most likely have more kids thanks to Carth's breeding status ability and the fact they can't stop porking each other due to Lissara's high sexual libido.
>>
Lissara is HDW, she definitely has E cups
>>
>>2864811
Which makes it even more impressive that she's such a good fighter.
>>
>>2863724

>>
It's currently C, might jump to D-E when she gets pregnant again.
>>2864815
Fighting 4 is pretty average among nobility and knights. I wouldn't bet on her if we go fighting some Ironborn captain.
>>
>>2864960
Her breasts are E cup, women's breasts stay permanently enlarged after they get pregnant. Also, she has Spears 2B and the Spear proficiency skill thing, she's very good.
>>
>>2865142
Good enough to kick some rebel bumpkin, but against a veteran Knight? Ascar and Darvin has fighting 5 with 2 bonus dice FYI. Any blooded veteran will easily knock her out especially since she only has Endurance 3.
>>
>>2865150
Wrong. The Spear Proficiency ability she has is breddy good, it lets her roll again on a miss. She could definitely hold her own. Lissara could probably take Ascar with only moderate difficulty, while Darvin would be harder true. You're right that bloodied veterans with years of experience would probably be better, but I don't think it would be "easy" for most.
>>
>>2865209
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree here. Lissara has absolute dogshit endurance and really low health. Her Spear Proficiency won't do much against opponents who have higher health, better endurance, better armored and can do more damage than her.

She can handle assassins and bandits sure, but armored veteran knights like Ser Ascar and Ser Darvin? Not a chance.
>>
>>2865209
Being honest, both of them would ruin you. Ser Darvin would be inflicting a wound a turn, before damage, and Ascar has a much better combat defense than you, with his shield. He can absorb your weaker hits on his armour, and just wear you down. (How he beat Ser Byrron, who's got similar stats to you, expect he keeps 1 more dice). When I make character sheets, I always treat hedge knights and the like as having far better fighting than Lords, since they make their whole livelihood fighting. Lissara wouldn't be missing, she would be hitting with 1 degree, so not doing enough damage to get through the armour.

Things got delayed, so I'll start, and might have to go for an hour in the middle

The next morning, as you are eating breakfast, Nararo Aros lumbers into the hall, a large smile plastered across his face. As he is lowered into a seat, he claps his hands, and speaks to a servant.

"Some of those honeyed oranges from last night, some cold meats, lightly spiced, and some fine white bread." he says, before inclining his head to you and Carth.

"Your hospitality has already been very generous, now I would like to ask you for a small favour. Your carriage, which you so generously provided yesterday, I would like to make use of it for a few days, as I travel to Sunspear. I am such a poor rider, and after my experience on my journey here, I loath to board another ship. Of course, I would return it once I am installed at Sunspear, and I would be most grateful for your generosity."

Carth leans over.
"Yes we have a deal, but he can still change it before we get the bill. He might add in extra conditions, or renege on the agreement, if we frustrate him. Anyway, we had no trip planned, so as long as it comes back in one piece, I can't see a problem. We'll need to clean it, but we were going to be doing that anyway..."

"Of course, Honoured Aros, it would be a simple thing. We will await it's return inside a month, if that's suitable to you."

Aros agrees, and you and Carth leave the hall before his food arrives, not wishing to indulge in conversation with the man while he ate. A few hours go by, till he leaves, and Maester Borrell approaches you carrying a long scroll, with a wax seal at the bottom, along with a length of wood, with the end cut into uneven squares. You can see it is the seal of the Bank of Bays, and upon reading the scroll, it is the copy of your deal. Borrell assures you he has checked it for extra terms, and has found nothing beyond what you agreed to, so he accepted it. Carth gives it a check over, and nods.

"Seems to be legitimate. A good deal, we'll be able to start planning more buildings soon."

"Now, we need to make a decision about the twin singers. We still don't know for certain if they are who Ser Nestar says they are, but if we are going to allow them to stay here, and act as court singers, it'll be a serious decision."

Maester Borrell nods.
"We should ask them and have Ser Nestar nearby, so we can allow him a closer look."

Carth frowns.
"That may make them anxious, having a large sellsword lookalike in the room as we ask them some serious questions, might spook them."

"No need to bother them. We can make a decision without them trying to hide the truth from us, which they surely would try to do if Ser Nestar's story is true."

Carth nods.
"If it is true, and if anyone in Volantis finds out, and if the Triarch decides to do anything about it, we would be faced with a difficult decision. Either we'd cause a huge war if Volantis attempted to invade, or we'd be faced with bounty hunters, assassins and sellswords trying to kidnap them. It is alot of ifs, however."

Maester Borrell nods.
"It does come down to how likely you think it is that the story Ser Nestar is true, and if you think it is worth the risk."

--------------
A week and a half passes, and a large Pentoshi ship delivers a large chest of dragons. Your workmen had already cleared the land, and placed orders for timber and stone. A count of the money reveals it to be the correct amount, and construction begins, the foundations beginning to be dug. You and Carth are taking lunch on the walls, with Cerran and Calrin sitting next to you, as Elia is running along the walls with Babu. Looking up, you see a dust cloud on the road, kicked up by a single rider, coming along the road from the Boneway towards the castle. Staring a little closer, you can see they are wearing the Martell colours, and are riding a sand steed. They have several saddlebags, and the flanks of the horse are lathered in foam and sweat.

Carth stands up, and peers down.
"A messenger, and in a hurry. I wonder what Sunspear cannot send with a raven?"

People have been sent to the wall for less. Even from Lissara's perspective the shenanigans he pulled after we so graciously invited him into our home, fed and housed him, and offering him gainfully and potential future employment. Besides the fact Lis overheard him going above our heads and not respecting that we were the Lady of the House leading to such petty shenanigans occurring during our feast when hosting a guest of such honor. Well that's just insulting. Really it's just up to how petty and vindictive were feeling, it's not like he messed anything up, but I'm not really inclined to have him go out and about and spread rumors and lies about the House or our dear husband, which is likely what I think would happen. Better safe than sorry methinks

"If the Martells send a messenger, it will be important. Carth, please take the children inside, I'll meet them in the courtyard."

As Carth takes the twins hands, and calls Elia to follow him, you descend the steps to the courtyard. The gates are opened, and the messenger rides through, pulling his horse to a halt. Several of the men-at-arms, who had been practicing with Ser Nestar, Ser Ascar and Ser Darvin, move closer, gazing curiously at the man. Ser Ascar ignores the messenger, and continues polishing his shield to a mirror gleam, while both Ser Darvin and Ser Nestar vault the small wooden fence of the training enclosure, and walk closer to the messenger. Dismounting, the messenger throws the reins to a stableboy, and takes a small wooden chest and a large scroll from inside one of the his saddlebags, before turning and bowing to you. He begins to speak, his voice still clear, if a little hoarse.

"Lady Lissara Blacksand, by the order of the Prince, Lady of Shadowpeak, I convey this gift to you, from your Prince and overlord, Doran Martell."

He kneels, and places the chest on the floor, before standing, unrolling the large scroll and continuing to speak.

"Let all who hear this know these are the words of Doran Nymeros Martell, Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear. We have found Lord Rydan Wyl guilty of conspiring with Arice Blackmont and Juran Manwoody to assassinate one of our subjects. Lord Wyl has been condemned, as he has been found guilty in the eyes of the Seven in a Trial by Combat. He has chosen to take the black, and will leave Dorne to enter the service of the Nights Watch. We grant the castle of Wyl to Ser Nestar Wyl, recently returned from Essos, should he have the strength to take it. So says the Prince of Dorne!"

The messenger marches through the silent courtyard, and hands the scroll to Ser Nestar, who looks stunned. The messenger then walks to the horse trough, where his horse is lapping at the water, wipes the foam from the horses flanks with a cloth, and remounts, taking the reins, and riding towards the gate. As his hoofbeats fade into the distance, the courtyard erupts in noise.

"It was Lord Wyl who tried to have you killed?"
"Ser Nestar, you are a lord now?"
"I don't think so, I have to take the castle. I'd expected something like this, but not so soon..."
"The Wyls! They'll pay for this!"

You gaze in silence at the chest at your feet, clasps holding it shut

Picking up the chest, you flip the clasps up, and lift the lid. Inside is a small cloth bag, and two scrolls, one tied with a length of black ribbon, the other with red. Picking up the red letter, you unroll it and sit down on the steps leading into the castle to read it.

------------------------------
Lady Lissara Blacksand

I apologise for not writing to you sooner, however, the circumstances of your exit from Sunspear left me a great deal of work to do. I am sure we will have another chance to speak in the future.

As to the attempt on your life, Oberyn enjoyed making the man reveal his paymasters. He claimed that Arice Blackmont and Juran Manwoody had paid him, but the purse that was on him was far more than they could have obtained on their own. And so, we tasked Oberyn to find out which families in the city had made a large amount of gold available in the last day. It took him two days till he found that the housekeeper of the Wyl’s of Sunspear had taken receipt of a sizible amount of gold from the Bank of Bays. Inquiring at the bank revealed only Lord Rydan could approve such an amount being drawn against the Wyl name, by bank policy. We summoned Lord Rydan to Sunspear, and upon his arrest, he demanded a trial by combat, representing himself. I respect Lord Rydan’s honesty, so denied Oberyn his request to represent the house. Areo Hotah won, and I offered Lord Rydan the black. I hope this explains your concerns and offers you some relief from your confusion at the events that have taken place.

Prince Doran Nymeros Martell.
---------------------------------------

You stare at the letter for a short time, before opening the second letter, the black ribbon skipping over the ground as you pull it off and let it fall to the ground.

---------------------------------

Please don’t be annoyed at the lack of news, my lover has had this planned for some time. He felt he needed something to buy back his brothers affection after his exile, and giving him a way to extend his power over the marcher lords by replacing one with someone who owes him. However, Doran informed him that actively weakening the Marchers shortly after appeasing them would be a poor move. However, this has allowed it to be used, without Yronwood and Fowler intervening.
Ellaria.

-----------------------------

You pick up the cloth bag, and open it. Something clinks inside, and you take out two metal ornaments, one a black vulture broach, the other a chain with a crowned skull on it. You see Ser Nestar is peering at the scroll he was handed, still surrounded by men-at-arms, staring at it, and Ser Darvin patting him on the back.

"Well, Ser Nestar, I guess congratulations are in order. Will this mean you are leaving my service?"

"I don't think so my Lady. The agreement me and Oberyn had was that I'd get Wyl, but remain a knight, not a lord. So I assume this means you become my overlord? But this is all for the future, I doubt my brothers will take kindly to my ascension..."

“Whats this about an agreement with Oberyn? I thought you said you weren’t a spy?”

Ser Nestar looks sheepish, and rubs his hair.

“Well, it was true. I’m not here to investigate you, or to to spy on you. Oberyn simply promised me in Mereen he would get me back into Wyl, if I promised to be content as a landed knight. Plan was, Doran would accuse Wyl of something, I’d be given Wyl and pardoned, House Martell would lay siege to Wyl, take it, I’d be a landed knight, and Yronwood would be given some land to appease them for Oberyn killing Ander’s father. I’d be a powerful landed knight, Doran gets more control over the Marches and appeases Yronwood, everyone wins, or so Oberyn thought. Doran wasn’t keen on it, putting a kinslayer into a marcher house with a fabricated reason seemed unpalatable. He still allowed me to return, but not to House Wyl lands while my father ruled. Guess that’s dealt with now.”

You lead Ser Nestar inside, and begin heading to the Solar.

“So Oberyn made you a promise while both of you were exiled, and came up with a plan to get into Doran’s graces. Doran said no to Oberyn, but now is saying yes, because he has a legitimate reason, and Yronwood aren’t angry at him anymore.”

“That seems about it.”

Stepping into the Solar, you shoot a glance at Carth, who asks Elia to take her brothers to find Jelissa. Carth steps closer, and looks curiously at the two of you.

“What was the messenger here about?”

“Well, my Lord, I’m the new Knight of Wyl. My father’s been banished to the wall, and Prince Doran has said I’m the new owner. I’ll need to claim it, but I’m sure I can count on you...”

Carth stands still for a few moments, then narrows his eyes, and looks at you.
“Is this true Lissara? Or is Ser Nestor joking?”

“Its true, Carth. We’re going to need to go to war with House Wyl.”

Carth curses under his breath, and sits down behind the desk, grabbing several sheets of paper. He begins sketching on them, muttering under his breath.

“House Manwoody hate us as well, and there’s nothing stopping them from attacking us at the same time, if they support a different claiment. Prince Doran can give whoever he wants the title, but the marches are still ruled by hold of the strong. Claimant disputes means its whoever can hold the castle, benefit of not being under Targaryean rule, and then being allowed to keep their laws...”

He pauses and looks up at you.

“We’ll need to plan. I’ve got my reports on the marches somewhere around here, but they’re incomplete. House Wyl are unknown, haven’t heard anything from them in a while. What do you want to know?”

Secondarily about what sort of support would he expect from his family? His father's previous bannerman and sworn swords. Most importantly who is the castellan, he's the one that will need to give up the castle, while going in with force will likely be necessary at some point we can avoid some unnecessary pain if we can convince him to concede peacefully.

We all need to recognize however that Nestar does have a relatively negative reputation. We are indeed supporting a self professed kinslayer. It is likely we won't make the best of friends doing this.

"Well, I guess we should look at whose in command. Ser Nestar, any light to shed on this? You’ve got a better idea of this than we do?"

"Well, my elder brother Kiran is a classic marcher Lord, he spent his time hunting bandits, and spending my father's money on projects to make the lands more secure. It was him who had the hall that Shadowpeak was. He'd planned for me to inherit it and be his loyal brother, killing pirates and collecting taxes for him. A shame me and my younger brother screwed that up for him."

Ser Nestar laughs, and rolls the scroll up.

"Turns out, when your pissant younger brother takes the chance of you hunting pirates to rape your paramour and you cut his head off, your family seems to get angry. As for my last brother, Derrock, he was 7 when I left. Don't know what he's like now. He could be a drunk, he could be better than Ser Arthur Dayne. My sister was married off to the Manwoodys, I know that much, but how she feels about this, no idea. She was always sweet, don’t know what me killing our brother and leaving did. Then there’s Ser Garon, he’s the knight-commander, though he’s more of an admiral than a general. He’s a dab hand with his sword as well. Beyond this, not sure. They’ve been through a civil war, lost a good chunk of their best land, and have rebuilt. I’ve no idea. They lost a fair number of knights in the rebellion, probably, so they could have recruited more, or none at all.”

Sounds to me like we could get Ser Garon on our side. Nestar's past as a pirate scum hunter likely has some crossover with him and he's outside of the family itself. Might be a good avenue to explore, seeing as despite our strong navy it is still small so we're don't want to get caught in a naval conflict prior to landing.
>>
>>2866344
>>2866304
I think they will probably attack our port city and sack it, so we should move some troops there when we war, especially since this guy is a navy man. We're in a tough spot, I wonder if we can ask Carth's family to help at all. Might look bad politically, but we are supporting a kinslayers claim.

“Carth, what about the other houses? What do they feel and what can they bring?”

“Manwoody is a problem. They hate us, and their military is fairly large, though not exceptionally well trained. Also, they’re in the best position to attack us if we make a move on Wyl. My brother went to their tournament and had a nose around. Lots of young faces, not many scars was how he put it. Though they’ve got a core of elite knights, they didn’t loose any in the rebellion.”

Carth spins the paper around, showing a doodled map of the Marches.

“House Fowler are defensively minded. Most of their forces are tied up on the Princes Pass, and they are loath to allow others to use it without paying. That actually helps us, since it means House Blackmont will be hard-pressed to attack us, if they want to. I haven’t heard much from House Blackmont, but Arice was sent to Sunspear in less than cordial terms. So it might be she was not acting with her house, but with her heart.”

Tapping Starfall, Carth grins.

“We can be certain House Dayne won’t be involved. They’re still in mourning, very little they can bring. High Hermitage might throw their weight in, but the Knight of High Hermitage doesn’t seem to care for politics. He’ll fight for anyone, he’s trying to prove himself better than his cousin, given how he’s been challenging every knight who rides through there to a fight.”

Ser Nestar nods.

“That’ll be little Gerold. Oberyn told me he visited Sunspear once, with his cousin. He spent the whole time tailing Arthur, and even carried Dawn for him. Strange how people change when they grow up….”

Carth finally points to Yronwood.

“The biggest question mark. You said your trip went well, but I doubt it was enough to have them go to war over it, but it might keep them neutral, without us having to bribe them.”
>>
>>2866363

"And what about Castle Wyl itself? Whats the land like, the terrain? They've been very closed off since the rebellion, I don't have much on them” Carth says, looking up from his map, “We'll need to know all these things."

"Well, Wyl is about as large as Shadowpeak now. It sits between two mountains, abutting the sea. There's a dock down a set of steep steps, but no proper mooring, the port here was for that. Mountainous and hilly terrain all around though, nasty to attack. There's a reason Daeron's army came through the passes, and simply bottled Wyl and Kingsgrave up, not actually laying siege. We could seize their mine, that’d be defensible, and if we can get Yronwood to allow us to use the Boneway for supplies, we’d be set. That’d only work if we are secure from behind. Last thing we need is Wyl getting allied with another house and them ambushing us."

Seating yourself on the window seat, you sigh.
“What are our options? How should we approach this?”

“Well, my lady, I’d say go hard and fast. Rush the castle, before they realise I’m with you, take the castle before they can garrison it fully, and then win before Manwoody can intervene.”

Carth frowns
“That’s all very well to say, Ser Nestar, but it’s far harder to do in practice. What’s to say they don’t know you’re here, whats to say they haven’t drawn back to the castle as soon as Rydan was summoned to Sunspear? I’d say we take this slowly, make no move till we know about the positions of everyone. Speak to the lords, sound them out, get some allies, even from the Stormlands. Then we march on any who declare against us, and force a deciding battle. Draw their forces out, give us the defensive advantage.”

“Issue with that, my lord, is that anyone who wants to fight us, will be able to be ready. We’ll face their full strength, not only House Wyl.”

“And we’ll anger House Yronwood if we march men on the Boneway without speaking to them first. They can cause any number of problems for us.” Carth responds, before looking at you.

>Begin to prepare to attack quickly, assault Wyl and take it? (Ser Nestar’s plan)
>Begin to prepare to attack quickly, and lay siege to Wyl, planning to starve them out?
>Begin to prepare to for a long campaign, forcing a field battle after gathering allies and other forces?
> Begin to prepare to for a long campaign, planning to lay siege to multiple places, with allies?
>Begin to prepare to for a long campaign, planning to be defensive, and force your enemies to lay siege to you, and break them there.
>>
>>2866349
That would be a dangerous move on their end. They don't have the casus belli here, since their Lord was literally just part of an assassination plot against us, such an overt act of war against us would give the rest of Dorne cause to come down on them assuming its prior to us putting Wyl to siege.

That being said we do have to worry about the Manwoodys in this situation. Maybe we parley with them, and I hate to say it but we have assets to keep the peace; our children. A marriage pact might save us in the long run and better integrate us in the region outside of this civil war we're about to escalate. Take a page out of Doran's book on this one and appease them given the recent past.

Also I'm disinclined towards asking the Penroses for help given our father's similar reaction to calling on the King to save our family's hide not too long ago. We'll look just like him and set a negative opinion and prescedent.
>>
>>2866365
>>Begin to prepare to for a long campaign, forcing a field battle after gathering allies and other forces?

We'll have to do a lot of wining and dining and honestly that's Lissara's wheelhouse in comparison to fighting. I feel that this keeps the peace the longest sparing the worst of a prolonged war campaign. A single decisive battle with a parley hosted by a neutral party, hopefully the Yronwoods, afterwards is safe.

dude, our father killed a group of manwoody soldiers. unless your offering them our entire family as corpses they aren't going to be happy. They are certain enemies.

Yronwood is the house we need to either get on our side or convince to remain neutral.

Blackmont might yet be convinced to drop the entire matter, or even side with us. after all, one member of the plot just took the black and it wasted a ton of money.

>>2866365
>plan for a long campaign mweting them in the field.

the best options are to flawlessly pull off nestors plan, or coax our enemies into a siege of shadowpeak and destroy them.

a fast war loses us the chance to inflict harm on our true enemies, a siege of wyl is stupid, a defensive war is sort of all or nothing, but meeting them in the field gives us a chance to hurt them but fall back if things go poorly.

we should also confront Aros in Sunspear about the hypocracy of funding a house while also funding an assasination attempt. squeeze him for funds.

we should also pick up the assassin holding with deniability. defeating Manwoody and Wyl in the field a few months before the head of house Manwoody died would give us a ton of breathing room.

also, how much support did the prince pledge to Nestar?
>>
>>2866365
>Begin to prepare to for a long campaign, forcing a field battle after gathering allies and other forces
We need to split up. Carth can go back to the Stormlands and rally our friends and allies while Lissara can contact mercs or maybe go to the Reach to find more allies.

Doran has offered no support. Basically, what he's done is say "I'll allow Nestar to press his claim, and regard him as having the strongest claim. But if he can't take the castle, I wash my hands of it."

Anything more would be waging war on his own vassals, when they haven't technically rebelled. The Lord broke the law, and took his punishment.
>>
>>2866943
>dude, our father killed a group of manwoody soldiers. unless your offering them our entire family as corpses they aren't going to be happy. They are certain enemies.

Oberyn killed the Lord of Yronwood. Amends and peace was made by fostering Quentyn Martell.

The Brackens and Blackwoods have historically despised each other. But numerous times throughout history they've married to come to peace.

Hell Dorne itself was finally brought into these Seven Kingdoms after numerous failed invasions by the Targaryens with marriage and a brokered peace with comprise.

Basically what I'm saying is that the sins of our father do not have to become our own. To think that there is nothing to be done and that they will only be enemies for the rest of our days is incredibly shortsighted and narrow minded. A group of soldiers do not hold the same worth as a Lord or a Kingdom and that should not be the considered barrier in this argument. There is historical precedent to show that two bitter enemies can come to amends and peace by remaining level headed, comprising, opening reasonable dialogue, and sealing it through marriage, fostering, or otherwise.

All of the options need to be on the table and explored even if they're yucky and exploitive of the children because that's the game we're playing here. We know a Wyl married into House Manwoody, Nestar can provide us with an in and hopefully not fuck up his relationship with his sister long enough for a dialogue to be opened. It is an option.
>>
>>2867027

I say no. Just because Carth could get allies, it doesn't mean they won't want something in return. We'll make due with what we can get in Dorne.
>>
>Begin to prepare to for a long campaign, forcing a field battle after gathering allies and other forces?

"There's too much at risk to throw all we have at an assault on a strong castle. It's better that we prepare for a prolonged campaign, force them into a decisive field battle. That way, their navy can't harass us, and we will be able to see who our enemies are in the Marches."

Carth smiles, and gestures to his map of the Marches.

"So, who do we want to talk to? I doubt House Uller or House Qorgyle will involve themselves, their strength is in the desert, and House Allyrion are too far detached. We should stick to the Marcher houses, and maybe some of the houses from the other side of the border."

Ser Nestar leans on the desk, and stares down.

"Seeking aid in my house would be foolish. My brothers sided against me, and the knights were the ones who forced me to leave."

Carth sighs, and scrunches up a piece of paper.
"Well, there goes splitting the enemy against themselves. Now, we should concentrate on which house we want to focus on. We'll need to move quickly, Wyl will be doing the same."

The current plans are lining us up to either get killed post-war for involving so many outside houses or during the war by not appealing to enough. This keeps the reach houses out of the war while appealing to the Stormlands Houses that won't try to murder our dornish allies.

Its VERY IMPORTANT to get Yronwood on our side because they control the only access route to our enemy by land. They're also very powerful.
>>
>>2870565
Trying to make an enemy of the second strongest house in Dorne would be truly fucking stupid.
>>
Right, some summary. There seems to be 2 plans developing from votes, so I'll summarizes them, and then we can go into detail with each.

>1 (Take on the Marches) This is a plan of treating all Dornish Houses bordering you as enemies (Wyl, Manwoody, Yronwood) and seeking allies outside of Dorne to help, focusing on the Stormlands.

>2. (A Local Matter) Seek allies in the Dornish houses, or at least their neutrality, and only seek a few allies from outside. Main focus on Yronwood and High Hermitage, and the more militant houses of the Stormlands, and House Penrose (due to pre-existing bonds)

Next, you have to decide how long you are going to take to prepare. It will take roughly 1 week to treat with a house, and then a week more to have them prepare for war. (So you'll need 1 more week than however many houses you try to treat with.)

Houses you can try to ally/seek assurances of neutrality with with
DORNE HOUSES

>House Yronwood
>House Dayne of High Hermitage
>House Penrose
>House Caron
>House Selmy
>House Dondarrion

I am assuming you are going to seek alliances with all of them. (Please post if you disagree). You will send ravens to each, and then visit them in turn to persuade/plan with them, depending on their response. You can choose to skip a house completely at any time if they refuse outright, for example.

Who do you want to visit first? (Highest priority, less chance of the Wyl's contacting them).

>House Yronwood (Large military, control the Boneway. Main issues may be they feel above this fight, due to their importance)
>House Dayne of High Hermitage (Small military, but Gerold Dayne is a skilled fighter/commander, and has been seeking skilled knights to fight/join his service)
>House Penrose (Smaller military, but Cortnay Penrose is a trusted commander and friend of Renly Baratheon. Lord Penrose is more cautious however)
>House Caron (Have a decent military, but suffered in the Rebellion. Have a history of hating the Dornish Marcher lords, and it is reciprocated)
>House Selmy (In the shadow of their Uncle, Barristan. Try to follow his example in most things, including loyalty)
>House Dondarrion (Have ties to House Dayne, nothing concrete yet, and a young heir (Apologies for other posts, I just checked Beric's age, and he's twelve atm). Their military is similar to House Caron, weakened from the Rebellion.

"Right. We'll focus on Yronwood, getting them either allied to us, or neutral, then petition Ser Gerold Dayne. If he's half the man his cousin was, he's worth a unit of infantry on his own. And either way, he seems most likely to want to fight. Then we'll look to the Stormlands. No sense in trying to fight alone. Carth, could you go to Parchments, and ask your father for aid? I would go, but I'll be heading to Yronwood with Ser Nestar. Ser Ascar and Ser Darvin can begin the muster here, they have enough experience of war to be good at it."

Carth nods, and begins rolling up papers and scrolls.

"I'll write messages to be sent to the Marcher Lords of the Stormlands, and one to High Hermitage and Yronwood, then I'll pack. I'd recommend going quickly, if Wyl manage to recruit Yronwood it'll end badly."

Ser Nestar bows to the two of you, and begins to head to the door.

"I'll prepare my armour, and have a shave, so I look presentable for Lord Yronwood. It'll be a surprise for him to see me, I don't think Oberyn let anyone else know I was part of his household..."

Carth unrolls a fresh piece of paper, and begins to write. However, before he can even dip his quill into the ink, you have pulled his chair back, and begun kissing his neck. Carth allows himself to be dragged out of his chair, and down onto the fur infront of the fireplace....

------------------------------

You and Ser Nestar have been riding on the Boneway for 2 days now, with your cavalry, and the dust from the road is beginning to get to you. Before you, Yronwood stands, looking much the same as it did before, still surrounded by good farmland, and still with several patrols of infantry. This time, they salute as you ride past, and make no attempt to obstruct you or challenge your progress. As you ride up to the gate, you see Lord Anders waiting inside....

Anders smiles as you ride up, raising his hands in greeting. As your party rides in, he catches sight of Ser Nestar, and his face forms a slightly confused frown. As grooms take the horses, Anders stands back slightly, his frown deepening. Ser Nestar goes down on one knee, and waits for you to take the initiative.

"Greetings, Lord Anders. Do you know Ser Nestar, recently taken into my service?"

"Yes I do, Lady Blacksand. I thought he was exiled in Essos, with the Second Sons. I assume Doran knows he is here?"

Ser Nestar speaks from where he is kneeling.
"Prince Doran pardoned me and allowed me to return. Prince Oberyn suggested me to join Lady Blacksand's service."

Anders continues to frown, but gestures for Ser Nestar to rise. He calls for servants to get water and food ready, and directsyour party inside, leading you to the Great Hall of Yronwood, and once you are seated, asks you to explain your visit.

So now, House Blacksand are preparing to fight for his claim, due to our obvious hostility towards them, and hence why we have come to you."

"Being honest, my lord, I am seeking military aid. House Manwoody is certain to aid them, and I find myself alone. It is known that House Yronwood are the second most powerful house in all of Dorne, second only to the Martells. I hoped to find allies in you."

Anders nods slowly, and waves his maester over, and whispers in his ear. The maester hurries out, and Anders turn backs to you.

"I am not opposed to this, though we should discuss what I and House Yronwood will be getting from this. No matter how you plan to conduct this war, Yronwood will be contributing alot. Anders drums his fingers on the arm of his chair harder, his frown deepening.

"I do not have any need of your oaths. I am reconciled with Sunspear, so security against House Martell is unnecessary, and there is no one who can stand against House Yronwood and House Allyrion unified in Dorne, other than the Martells. If Ser Nestar was in my service, it would be a different story, but I am risking my military in an uncertain war, with a disliked ally, for nothing but useless oaths and corpses. I am blunt because I have to be. I have an alternative offer. I will join you, in return for the tolls from your port for a year, and the southern lands of House Wyl. You are asked to eat in the rooms made available to you, since Lord Yronwood is now presenting himself as neutral in this matter. Feasting you would be problematic given his intention to not involve himself beyond providing you mercenaries. Ser Nestar assures you that this is as good a deal as you could get, and is grateful you didn't give away a sizeable chunk of his claimed land. You spend a restful night, and in the morning, inspect the infantry Lord Yronwood intends to hire out to you. The men are armoured in well made chain mail, with long halberds glittering in the sun. They are all between 25-30 years old, and Lord Anders assures you they have all served in punitive raids against pirates on the Stepstones, and are blooded. They seem professional, and you fail to find any issue with them. They seem quite worth the money you are paying, seeming the equivalent of your own infantry, maybe even better equipped.

You spend one more night at Yronwood and leave in the morning, riding for Shadowpeak. As you head down the Boneway, you see a small party coming down the road towards you...

"We hold. I am not my father, I will not massacre men without provocation. However, no sense to be incautious, we'll ride defensively."

Your cavalry pulls closer around you, and as the two parties cross you hear shouts of "Kinslayer!", "Butcher!" and "Murderer!" being yelled. Your cavalry respond in kind, calling out "Cowards!" "Assassins!" and Ser Nestar rises high in his stirrups and peers into the other party before laughing.

"Derrock, you grew up! When I come to take the castle, I'll let you stay, if Kiran licks my boots!"

The knight in the center of the party remains looking forward, as he rides past. You see most of the cavalry have plate armour, and ride like experienced knights. Ser Nestar calls to you as the parties separate.

"The Serpents, the bodyguards of house, handpicked by my father! None of them are knights, but its for a reason. Knights have to follow codes and honour, and have a chance to leave service. Not so for the Serpents!"

The rest of the journey goes past without incident, and you make it back to Shadowpeak within 2 days, and make arrangements for the money to be sent to Yronwood. Carth is still at Parchments, apparently his brother was not at home, and so he is waiting till his brother returns from visiting Storms End. Ser Darvin reports that most of the military is gathering, and supplies are being collected. You thank him, and prepare for the longer journey to High Hermitage...

You head out after a night of rest, and sending a raven to Parchments informing Carth of what has happened at Yronwood. Calrin does cry as you begin to get on your horse, but Elia holds his hand, and Jelissa assures him you're coming back soon. You take the road past Vulture's Roost, to avoid Manwoody lands, you cross into the Stormlands, camping in the small border camp, before re-entering Dorne via the Princes Pass the next day. You see the hooded falcon of house Fowler hanging from a tower set high on the mountains framing the pass, and can see guards looking at you as you ride pass, and travel down the Princes Pass. The road is well maintained, and has less traffic than the Boneway, so you are able to travel further, and reach the crossroads leading to Skyfall or High Hermitage by sundown. Another night is spent under the stars, and you turn West, riding into the Red Mountains again. You cross the Torrentine, a well made stone bridge spanning the second largest river in Dorne, and you ride along the road, towards a keep, sitting on an outcrop of rock, accessible only by a somewhat narrow bridge.

You ride up to the gate, and are met by a small group of 10 knights, different heraldry displayed on their shield, none from major houses. They hold a hand for you to stop, and call out.

"Lady Blacksand, Ser Dayne is awaiting you. He is interested in the reason for your visit!"

You follow them across the bridge, and ride into High Hermitage, the setting sun catching your eyes. The keep is not the largest, and is similar to Shadowpeak, except it appears to have been constructed as a castle, and not as a hall first like Shadowpeak. As you ride under the gate, you look up at the keep, and see, from a window above the main gate, a man, similar in age to you, with silver hair is staring at you, a vague smile on his face. As you stare at him, he turns, and walks inside, as a groom approaches and waits to take your horse to the stables. A well dressed man emerges from the keep, and bows to you.

"My Lady, Ser Gerold wishes to know if you will be eating in the hall, or retiring, your trip must have been arduous."

"No need to set too many places, I'll eat to show our appreciation, I won't force my escort to go through formality when they are tired."

"Of course, my lady, if you'll follow me, I'll show you a room you can wash before eating."

---------------------

A few minutes later, you are sitting in the hall, at the high table, next to the handsome man with the silver hair you saw from the courtyard. Up close, his eyes look vicious, and his mouth is set in a smirk as he looks at you as the two of you eat a meat stew.

"Well, Lady Blacksand, what brings you to High Hermitage, and with such bellicose words before arriving? I confess, I was surprised you thought of me..."

"Well, the valour of House Dayne is well known, and Ser Gerold Dayne is equally well known as a valiant fighter in Dorne. And with the undertaking I am pursuing, your skills would be greatly appreciated..."

"I cannot help but see you haven't mentioned what this undertaking is, Lady Blacksand, though the presence of Ser Nestar Wyl in your entourage makes me think it has something to do with him..."

"Well, you are quite correct, Ser Gerold. Ser Nestar has been given permission by Prince Doran to press his claim on Castle Wyl, and so now I look for allies to fight against them. Should be quite the battle, even without House Manwoody throwing their oar in."

Gerold Dayne leans back, grinning.
"I must apologise, I'm already aware. House Wyl sent a raven, explaining a kinslayer had returned, some upstart stormlanders who think they're Dornish are helping him, all seemed fascinating. Though, you are far more attractive than Kiran Wyl. And you're here before him, I'm not expecting him till next week..."

Leaning forward, you smile, and toy with your hair, till he looks away to take a drink from his goblet, and you undo the top fastener of your travel clothes. When he looks back, you are signalling a servant to refill your goblet. As you look back, Ser Gerold is flicking the black streak that splits his hair back, revealing sharp purple eyes that gaze at you intently. You look away, and feel Gerolds hand move ontop of yours...

You turn towards him, and lean forward, and the two of you kiss. Dayne pushes you backwards, and the two of you end up against a pillar. Dayne reaches down, and pulls at the ties of your clothing, as you unfasten his shirt. He lifts you up, and gives you a wicked smile....

-----------
Later, Gerold Dayne is fastening his shirt, and rebuckling his belt, as you slowly pull your dress back on, your body sore from his ministrations. Ser Dayne was not a gentle lover, and it has been a while since you needed to fight for control of a situation. Ser Gerold smiles cruely back at you, and inclines his head.

"I doubt Kiran will be able to match that, and if he tried, I'd not accept. Unless he offers something especially interesting, me and my guard are yours. I'll need to leave a garrison and the archers here, House Fowler won't let me move anything more. Do you want me to stay here and come later, or come right away, once I've spoken with Kiran. I'll not pass up a chance to let him know he's fighting me face to face..."

"I'd appreciate it if you could come soon. The more soldiers at Shadowpeak there are, the safer we are from a surprise attack."

"Very well. I'll stay long enough to tell Kiran Wyl to go and find somewhere else to seek help, then I'll ride for Shadowpeak. Now, please, I'd hate for you to be here when he is, it might stop there being any chance of a fight if either one of you kills the other. I'll have my steward provide rations for your men, you can leave in the morning."

He walks to the door and steps outside, leaving you alone. You go to sleep, unsure how to react to his words...

--------------

The next morning, you are woken by a servant, who informs you that Ser Gerold has gone into the hills to hunt, and that your horses have been made ready. The servant hands you a msall plate of bread and meat, and then leaves. Eating slowly, you are seeing why the Daynes of Starfall are not keen to be associated with High Hermitage. However, if he is as competent as he is meant to be, this all should be worth it. You head down to the courtyard after dressing and eating, and see Ser Nestar looking somewhat annoyed, adjusting the straps on his saddle.

"This Gerold Dayne. Seems to have an inflated view of himself. Hopefully he's distracted enough by the fighting to not get on the wrong side of Ser Ascar."

Sighing, you mount up, and are joined by your party. You head out of High Hermitage, and rejoin the road, heading down towards Skyreach. The road is clear, and you make good time. You move onto the Prince's Pass, and camp halfway down, the sound of mountain lions and shadowcats filling the night.

It is late in the next day, and you are approaching Vulture's Roost. Ser NEstar spurs his horse next to yours and leans over.

"My lady, we could either camp at Vulture's Roost, or press on for Shadowpeak. We'll arrive late at night, but it'll save us a night on the road."

Blacksand Calavry deals 11 damage.

Attacking cavalry deals 2 damage.

The superior skill of your men shows, and the attacking cavalry spills out, staggered and disordered. Your cavalry rides on, and then begins to turn back around.

Ser Nestar rushes forward towards the cavalry, his great sword swinging...
>>
>>2875185
Ser Nestar falls upon the loose cavalry, cutting two men down with great swings of his blade. A wild yell emerges from his throat, and the remaining 8 calvarymen flee, spurring their sand steeds up the steep hill. Even as your cavalry closes on them, they dance between the rocks, and are lost from sight, cries of panic splitting the night. However, you can hear feet on the slopes, rocks falling down as footmen running towards your position. Ser Nestar remounts, and yells at your cavalry to grab the injured and flee. He slaps your horse, and sends it riding off, as behind him, you can see dozens of infantrymen hurrying towards you, with others stopping by the rocks, and lifting what look like crossbows up.

Fortunately, only two of your men are injured, and are quickly tied to their saddles, as you begin riding hard for Shadowpeak. It is very dark when you see the shadow of the port against the ocean, and the walls of your home. Riding up to the keep, Ser Nestar yells out your identity, and as the gates open, calls for medical aid, saying you've been attacked on the road. You enter, and as you finish putting your horse into the stables, you see Carth, in a bedshirt, running towards you. He grabs you in his arms, and begins checking you over.

"Lissara, are you alright? Are you hurt!"

"Carth, I'm fine, only two of the cavalrymen were hurt."

"This is an escalation. It couldn't have been Wyl, I sent the scouts to keep an eye on the Boneway. It must have been House Manwoody. It seems they've joined House Wyl... how many attacked you? It could have been bandits..."

Ser Nestar approaches, wiping sweat from his brow.

"Bandits don't attack large armed parties, and not with proper armour, and over a hundred infantry and crossbows in support. We were lucky we didn't camp at Vulture's Roost, we'd have been trapped, or worse."

Carth kicks the stable wall, and curses.

"So Vulture's Roost is cut off from us. It's no real loss, but reaching the Stormlands will take longer if we can't reach the Prince's Pass. We can attempt to retake it, with what forces we have, or leave it. If we don't strike soon, they'll reinforce it, and we'll be putting ourselves at too great a risk."

Carth nods, and grins fiercely at you.

"Luckily, the Yronwood soldiers arrived, Ser Cletus is commanding them. My brother is also coming down with a unit of cavalry, and a team of engineers, and some materials to build engines. They'll be here in the morning."

Ser Ascar and Ser Darvin jog into the stable, pulling on clothes. Carth turns, and raises a hand in greeting.

"She's fine, but we are marching on Vulture's Roost in the morning! We need to get the men ready."

Ser Ascar straightens up, and bows, before marching out, Ser Nestar following him. Ser Darvin pauses.
"What are we going to take though? Us marching out to Vulture's Roost could be what they want, leaving us undefended as they rush us. A sizeable force should remain here. The Penroses and the Yronwoods should be with us, it would be a good practice run, get our forces working together better. But who should we get ready?"

Now you have 3 wealth to spend on siege, to decide what you want, here are the options. Remember, you are planning to attempt an open field battle to settle the whole war, don't just think of this one battle.

>Small Catapult (1) (3 Damage) (Good against walls, can be used against units)
>Medium catapult (2) (5 Damage) (Good against walls, can be used against units)
>Mangonel (3) (Very good against walls, cannot be used against units)
>Scorpion (1) (3 Damage against units only. Can target individuals, dealing 10 damage ignoring armour)
>Spitfire (2) (3 Damage against units, can use wildfire. You can't get wildfire)
>Turtle (1) (Protects a moving unit from Arrow fire)
>Mantlets (1) (Protects a stationary unit from arrow fire)
>>
>>2875494
Forgot to say, only Catapults and Spitfires get affected by degrees of success, so their damage can be multiplied. Scorpions are not multiplied by degrees of success.
>>
>>2875494
>Mantlets (1) (Protects a stationary unit from arrow fire)

>>
>>2875505
Mantlets are useless for us unless you plan to keep our infantry in place. We should also at least save one point in case we are forced into a siege. No need to blow our wad this early guys.

Switching to this if we can reuse this equipment for later battles or sieges. We should otherwise just stick with the Turtle as it will be the most important part of an assault on the Roost.
>>
>>2875544
Mantlet are for our own ranged forces. Scouts double as that don't they?
>>
>>2875563
We didn't bring scouts though?
>>
OP, is the 3 wealth worth of siege equipment for the duration of the war or for this battle? Can we build more than they can man? Like instead of keeping them idle they'd build stuff at our castle, that we can keep, then construct what we need on site? I don't know the rules for the game.

If its for the whole thing I only want a turtle for this battle and decide on the rest later
>>

All equipment will be available to you till the end of the conflict. Then House Penrose will take it home. Engineers are needed on the field to operate anything that fires projectiles.

>Small Catapult (1) (3 Damage) (Good against walls, can be used against units)
>Scorpion (1) (3 Damage against units only. Can target individuals, dealing 10 damage ignoring armour)

"We'll take the ally units, and our Infantry. That should give us numerical advantage. Carth, what an the siege engineers build?"

"We're lucky, most of it's pre-cut, they'll just need some ropes, and a few hours to adjust everything. I've got some plans they sent me with, for you to look over. They'l put them together as we get everything ready. We'll look over them, then you're getting some sleep. Proper sleep. Not fun sleep."

Ser Darvin bows, and steps out, calling out for messengers. Carth leads you up to the Solar, and shows you several plans for siege weapons, each signed with Carths father's signature.

"A hobby he picked up. Apparently Lord Steffon encouraged him..."

You point to the catapult, the scorpion, and a moveable shield, completely protecting any who is below it.

"These will be good. Some firepower, and if we need to siege, the catapult can see some further use."

Carth nods, rolls up the plans, and places the three you selected to one side. He then points firmly towards your chambers.

"Now sleep. Last thing we need is you passing out."

>Thats all tonight. Next session, Monday evening, 1900 BST.

>implying we don't do anal with the strange men we fuck
How do you think our pc was able to fuck so many men without getting pregnant since her first time? Also, she's Dornish; they're more sexually open to sex positions other than benis in bagina.

Ouch

I think oil for the skin was a thing in medieval times.

Sure. But it didnt exactly seem like anyone of them had some at hand. Unless Lissara actually walks around with some in her handbag.

You are woken by Carth shaking your arm, and as you open your eyes, you see it is not yet sunup. Blinking the sleep from your eyes, you slowly get dressed, as Carth eats a small meal of bread and cheese.

"My brother will be pushing his men hard. No sense in us being abed when he arrives. He hasn't met you yet, so he'll be keen to greet you. I should warn you, he's very different to me. I got the scholar of my father, he got the martial interests."

"You're plenty martial enough for me, Carth." you say, before nibbling his neck, and joining him at the table, pulling some of the bread from his plate.

Doing it without telling him behind his back would be considered cheating and unacceptable even in Dorne. There is a difference between swinging with our spouses approval, and having sex behind their backs without their knowledge.

I really hope so then. This would be blatant martial betrayal no matter how we try to justify it with semantics if we don't tell him.

"That's good, it'll add some exceptionally experienced forces to our army. When is he going to join us?"

"He said he wanted to tell House Wyl to their face he was going to be fighting them. Then he'll make his way here. He can't bring much more, House Fowler won't let him."

"Sounds like he's every bit as aggressive as people say he is. Well, good thing we got to him before House Wyl did. Sounds like he'd be fine fighting on either side..."

The two of you soon finish, and once dressed, head down to the courtyard. Carth leads you up to the walls, and look at the road from the Boneway, his fingers drumming on the wall top. It doesn't take long before you can hear the sound of horses on the road, and the creaking of wagons. Carth leans forward, and as he peers, you see a small convoy coming into the town, led by a knight wearing a brown surcoat, crossed with white quills. He is taller than Carth, but is completely bald, except for a large spade shaped beard. He is leading a group of 20 men holding spears on horseback, and 3 wagons, with several men wearing leather overalls sitting on them. The knight gazes around, looks up at the castle, and turns his horse towards Shadowpeak, riding up the path. As he comes closer, he raises a hand, to which Carth waves back. Carth then jogs down the steps of the wall, and as you follow him, you see Carth calling out in greeting to the knight as the knight enters.

"Cortnay! You married yet?"

"Carth! You killed anyone?"

The knight dismounts, and strides towards Carth, nearly half a foot taller than him, and pulls Carth into a tight hug. Carth slaps his brother on his back, and when the two men break apartm, the knight inclines his head.

"Lissara, yes? I apologise for missing your wedding, but there was a lot of work to do after Renly became Lord of Storms End. I do regret missing it though, a chance to see my brother going through the bedding would have been hilarious. But Renly insisted on my aid, he's not got a head for sorting out households and taxes."

"Well, Cortnay, at least I am married. Mother began dropping hints for me to find you a bride while you are down here, so hurry up, or I'll marry you to an Uller!"

You grin.
"I don't know, Carth, us Dornish girls seem to get along well with you learned Penrose types. He might like some Uller fire."

Cortnay laughs, and then waves for his men to water their horses, and begin to prepare the siege engines. He places an arm on both yours and Carths shoulders, and walks to the keep.

"It'll take my men an hour or so to have the engines you wanted ready. Your man found us at camp, though I'd not expected quite such a loud messenger."

Carth grins, and looks at you.

"I sent Ser Ascar, and told him to be careful not to get mistaken for a bandit. He might have misinterpreted my instructions."

"Misinterpreted? He called out his name like he was announcing himself at a joust! Quite disturbed a lovely dream I'd been having about a girl from Rainwood." Cortnay says, as the three of you enter the hall, and Carth calls for wine.

>Do you have anything to ask Cortnay Penrose?

How about after we defeat the Wyl's, we take Carth to a brothel to arrange a fivesome with Lissara and three prostitutes, as a reward for his help? That would even it out.
>>

As the three of you raise a goblet of wine, you take the chance to pick Cortnay's mind.

"What do you think of our chances, Ser Cortnay? Given our forces, and the Yronwood mercenaries?"

"Honestly, I'd be confidant. If we can force them to fight in the field, our engines will be a decisive asset. The Dornish Marcher Lords aren't that well known for their offensive strength, and if we bombard them first, I can see the greener army of Manwoody fleeing. Their knights might be a problem, but some infantry can hold them in place, and they'll not be able to carry a battle alone while we've got knights as well. And if this fight at Vulture's Roost goes well, there'll be even less Manwoodys to fight. I'm confidant, as long as no surprises come along. Things should go fine."

Carth raises his goblet.

"To a quick victory, and a successful war. What more could a man want?"

You and Cortnay drink, and talk moves onto the various engines that the Penrose engineers are building. Apparently, as Carth mentioned last night, their father had a fascination with designing siege engines, and had brought many experts both from Westeros and Essos to help him develop his studies. These men had been very keen to help him, mainly because their skills hadn't been needed for decades. The rapid nature of Robert's rebellion had also spared the House Penrose forces, keeping their forces relatively untouched.

Soon, a servant enters, and informs you of the readiness of your forces. Cortnay stands, and walks towards the door, glancing behind him at you and Carth.

"You coming, or are either of you staying here, in case it's a trap, and House Wyl are marching on us?"

>You are going and Carth is staying here?
>Carth is going and you are staying here?
>Both of you are going, leaving Ser Ascar in command here?

>>

>Carth is going and you are staying here?
>>
>>2877322
Having a threesome means just us and another women. I don't really think there are many women who can be considered the female equivalent of Gerold.

>>2877328
Not really, we aren't Dornish and Dorne encourages swinging, not cheating. No medieval society that encourages adultery would've survived because people simply wouldn't have tolerated that shit, it would've been forcibly changed to make sure they don't get fucked over.

>>2877338
It is a big deal though.

>Our House is in Dorne for Seven's sake
That doesn't mean anything though. Manderly's are in the North, but no one considers them First Men. We are the child of a Stormlander knight who got his land by taking it from the Dornish. We are considered foreigners by ourselves and by the Dornish.
>>
>>2877360
It's only a big deal if the QM turns it into one. I'm sure he is so, so eager to make his quest fall apart in thread 4. Nothing quite like pushing the "martial strife" and "husband with a vengeance" buttons.

Stop bitching about it, you're making mountains out of anthills. Why is it that any time sex comes up in a quest there's always one or two guys who get triggered so hard you'd think they were left at the altar just this morning?
>>
>>2877371
>Anon, we are Dornish. Our House is in Dorne for Seven's sake.

To be fair we aren't that dornish. Dad was a stoney dornish commoner, mum was a storm lander. Culturally were dornish, having grown up in it, but even that is a bit sketchy given dad's relations to the other houses and Lis traveling a lot in her youth. To most natives and long standing houses we do look like an outsider. There's a reason some other houses have called the Lis and the House something to the effect of stormlanders pretending to be dornish.
>>
>>2877383
Our mother was Dornish as well. We are Dornish through and through, it's only because Bobby B gave us this land that they consider us foreign.
>>
>>2877382
I don't really care about the sex. I'm talking about the people trying to downplay this as not important and justifying it because ''it's Dorne.'' Dorne doesn't tolerate adultery and we aren't Dornish.
>>
>>2877383
Like the other Anon said, our mother was Dornish and Houses in Dorne don't like us because of father.

"We're coming with you. Ser Ascar can hold the castle."

Carth calls for a servant to fetch his crossbow, and the two of you head upstairs, and pull on your armour. After both of you are equipped, you head down to the courtyard, and mount up. Ser Darvin and Ser Nestar are there, at the head of your infantry, and Ser Cletus Yronwood is waiting with the Yronwood infantry. Cortnay is mounting up, and the engineers are lashing down several parts to the frame of a wagon. You stand in the stirrups, and call out.

"Alright! It's time to show these Manwoody scum that they do not enter our lands, take our castles, and raid our road! We're going to ruin them, send them scattering in the wind, and drive them back to Kingsgrave, wishing they'd never tried to fight us! Now, move out!"

The force marches out, you and the Knights riding at the front. Ser Cletus seems subdued, but Cortnay is in high spirits, and talks animatedly with you and Carth about Vulture's Roost, claiming he's building a mental picture to prepare himself. Ser Cletus joins you, and raises an interesting point.

"My lady, I understand I am here as a mercenary, but who is in command here? We should establish a clear line of command, so no one gets confused."

I really hate splitting hairs and I agree with you mostly but there is a timeline that would disagree. Lis is 18, year is 288AC, House was founded at earliest 283AC. For the vast majority of her life Lis either lived in the Stormlands or abroad in Essos. Even culturally there's a divide and deal old dad despite his heritage was not thought of as a dornishmen, clearly. Given the reactions others have had, which I don't feel like screenshotting but there have been negative opinions made about Lis' dornish-ness.

It's splitting hairs but really there is a reason our family isn't particularly loved. And pretending to be dornish probably has something to do with it.

QM. Would you mind giving us a answer on how Carth feels about swinging and adultery? He seemed okay with Lis seeing hookers in Sunspear but would he be okay with what happened with Dayne?

I feel like we would know somewhat considering how openly sexual Lis and how long they've been married.
>>
>>2877473
Carth hasn't had to deal with it. The houses reputation meant you never really went on trips alone, and when you were both in Essos, he was with you for most of the sexual stuff, except when he left you with a beautiful Myrish girl so he could look at architecture.
>>
>>2877389
Look, I agree that their justification is paper thin and I don't care about flimsy cultural excuses.

It's just an argument about a non-issue, because Carth is not a real person. The only time this incident will have a proper negative consequence is when OP wants to stop writing the quest and make our husband kill us in our sleep. Or he uses it to fan the flames so he can throw his hands in the air and say the playerbase's arguing killed the story.
