You are Percy, a Pokémaniac on his way to become a Professional Pokémon trainer!

Your team so far consists of:
Houndour
Mimikyu
Whismur
Vulpix (Alolan)

Traveling partners:
Abra

Last time you got in a surprisingly Intense battle with a Rich asshole, went to shitty maid cafe, an old friend decided to accompany you in your travels, acquired a taste for girls in Poké-Cosplay, sparred with an Ice cream, had an eventful movie night, talked man to mon with Houndour, got called a faggot by Eli’s “Sensei” and finally the Rookie tournament is about to begin!

>For non-battling Rolls we use a d100 and go by best of three!

Finally, the gates open and trainers and their Pokémon are starting to enter the Battlegrounds.
It seems like there’s going to be a final screening to select the top 32 Rookie trainers for the exhibition matches. From the speakers comes a tired voice that instruct trainers to search for the “battle arena” with their name on it. Every arena has the name of three to four trainers. The voice from the speaker tells the young trainers to hurry so they can get over this and move on to the next group.

Eli: Dude you know Sensei? Why didn’t you tell me sooner? Whatevs, I’ll ask you about it after this, don’t lose to anyone besides me!

After some wandering in your own you finally arrive with your group. 3 other trainers stand before you, all of them are varying degrees of confused. After a while an officer arrives and explains to all of you this will be a “Free-for-all” match, last one standing win and moves out to the exhibition matches.

The first trainer is a young boy with a Metapod, there’s another guy with a Lilipup who still has a tag reading “Princess” and finally a girl who’s trying her damned best to keep her Pidgey from wandering off the arena.

This will be easy.
Perhaps, too easy

Yeah, they have a healing station were you can rest between matches.

During matches just one healing item may be used per match

No ring outs, CG. Orizaba doesn't believe in them. The Pokémon can become too scared to continue fighting though, that also counts as a "Victory"

So QM is Houndour going to CRIT success in going balls deep on the other Pokemon?

Pidgey seems to be unsure what this whole ”battling” thing is, this gives “Princess” trainer to command her to tackle and maul the confused Bird mon.
Metapod just stands there. His trainer told him to use “Harden” But you aren’t sure if he actually did something.

Percy: Use Roar!

Better finish this off quickly and hurting the mons as little as possible

>Houndour used FLAMETHROWER? WHY?
>CRITICAL HIT!
>IT’S SUPER EFFECTIVE AGAINST METAPOD

OH GOD, THIS ISN’T WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO.
The three of them are set aflame and are instantly knocked out.

[Princess’s Trainer]: SHIT, Mom is going to be so mad.
He takes of his jacket and tries to extinguish the flames on his Lilipup fur.

[Metapod’s Trainer]: Hang in there! I won’t let you die here! You’ll become a beautiful butterfree I swear!
He starts spraying desperately his Pokémon with potions and pouring bottles of water on him.
[Pidey’s trainer]: Chippy! You!... You are horrible!
The girl takes his Pidgey, from his less scorched parts and runs to the healing machine, crying.
You made a girl cry today, and its barely noon.

Percy: Man! What the heck was that?! I said “Roar” not “Scorch them alive”

[Houndour]:….Sorry, I was in the zone. Got a little too excited

[Officer]: You trained your mon to use “Flamethrower” when you said “Roar”?

Percy: Noo.. I..

[Officer]: That was cold kid. But that’s just the type of trainer we need around here.

You decide to take a little time off the arena, you don’t really want to cause more trouble.
Your family just arrived! The got some seats near the battleground where the exhibition matches will be hosted, is a little bigger than the standard arena, seems like they reserve it for this kind of events.
Your father and mother are carrying some snacks, your sister is also here with Mr.Snob on her lap caressing him. You go up to them, they are pretty happy to see you got to the exhibition matches, seems like they missed your last battle.

[Dad]: Glad to see you passed! But don’t let your guard down. I’m eager to see my son´s “battling style”
[Mom]: Just do your best, there’s no shame in losing. Like your father did.
[Dad]: I let you won because you are cute and you know it!
[Mom]: Sure thing. Mr 3rd place
Percy: Thanks dad, and hey. Grandpa’s here
[Dad]: He’s still….?
Percy: an asshole, yeah
[Mom]: Language Percival
[Mr.Snob]: Don’t swear in front of your mother young man!
[Dad]: Welp. I shouldn’t expect anything else from him, he’s got his reasons
[Sis]: Grandpa isn’t so bad… and Percival, where’s this “GIRL-FRIEND” of yours?
Percy:Why do you phrase it that way?

[Dad]: Oh! Seems like your up son! Good luck “Champ”!
………………………………………………………………………………………..
You make your way to the battlefield, seems like your las fight left a lasting impression with some of the onlookers still booing you. Your family cheers quietly for you from their seats, except your dad, he’s going all out.

Before you stands another young man, not one of your classmates that’s for sure, he gives off a “Dick” vibe, seems like one of those kids that attend that fancy “Altamirano’s Private Academy”

His Pokémon, an Aron.

The Aron rams himself to Houndour, moving as fast as he slow body lets him. Houndour has no trouble evading, just as the Aron misses Houndour let’s out a fiery “Flamethrower” at point blank range! Aron has no time to react to the attack and Houndour manages to get some distance between them again.

>Houndour moves first

Seeing that the Aron won't retaliate Houndour starts closing by, he's going for another Flamethrower!

[Aron's trainer]: Protect yourself!

The flames cover Aron head to toes. But he is still standing, Houndour keeps ups flames for a little while but the Aron doesn't back down, he starts moving forward, once Houndour let's his flame goes down you can see the Aron surrounded by a Green Shield. Just as he let his defenses down the Aron takes advantage of Houndour stopping his attack to kick some dirt directly to his eyes!

>Aron used Mud-Slap!

Mud Slap after Mud Slap, Houndour barely dodged the barrage of attacks coming from Aron. Even with all the dirt in his face he relies in his keen sense of hearing. Aron has grown tired from his offensive, but Houndour also started showing signs of tiredness.

[Houndour:] Partner! I'm not sure I can keep evading for too long. This needs to end

Houndour could try to get the mud out of his face, but that wouldn't get a chance to retaliate, and in the worst of cases it could be another opportunity for Aron to strike

Percy: Houndour focus on evading and “getting the mud out of your eyes”!

That’s what you instruct with your normal “Human” voice

Percy:(Barking) Counter with flamethrower when you have a chance!

[Houndour]: Got it.

[Spectator]: Did that guy just bark?

Houndour stops evading and “tries” to remove the mud with his paw. Aron’s trainer sees this as an opportunity and commands him to rush with a Headbutt once more. It could have worked, if Houndour wasn’t focusing in hearing the direction where the Steel type is coming. And once he is moving fast enough to be incapable of changing direction is just a matter of time to get him close enough.
Closer…
Closer….
And Houndour quickly side steps out of dangers way and retaliates with a Flamethrower! The attack hits Aron directly! The flames are strong enough to push him back a little. He is in his lasts legs but he is still trying to get back at you!

Another strong attack will definitely knock him out

Better get ready for the next match.

You go to stand in line at the healing station, a lot of trainers dedicate glares to you and your team, seems like word from mouth spreads quickly. And not only about you, there’s some talk about a “really weird match” that just ended, but you can’t make details besides “the Pokémon attacked his own trainer”.
After healing Houndour with the machine (it’s really interesting how the putting the appropriate energy current to the reusable healing gel closes almost any kind of superficial wound and revitalizes Pokémon! Truly a miracle of science) you spot Metapod’s trainer, he seems pretty sad, apologizing profusely to his Pokémon. Maybe it’s time to make amends.

>Hey, I’m sorry for that last match, my Pokémon went a little overboard
>I’m sorry, I went overboard in that fight, I didn’t want to hurt Metapod
>I’m sorry for that last bout, but why did you bring a cocoon to a fighting tournament?

Percy: Hey, I’m sorry for that last match, my Pokémon went a little overboard. He kind of got excited
Houndour grunts a little

[Metapod’s trainer]: Excited? You almost melted my Metapod!

Percy: And we feel really bad about it, right partner?

[Houndour]: I feel bad for Metapod, for having a trainer that would force him to enter this thing

Percy:… fair enough

You decide to apologize to Metapod as well, getting as still as you possibly can, making your body as hard as possible contracting your muscles, while calming yourself, you slow down your thought process for a while. And concentrate on the quiet mumbles of the Bug Pokémon, you keep whispering “sorry” quietly, in a mumble that is almost impossible to hear.

[Metapod]: You, human? Can you hear my voice?

[Metapod]: My trainer may be foolish, but I’ve been foolish as well. We thought this tournament would speed up my metamorphosis. We were wrong.
Seems like the trainer is still pissed at you, not as much as before, but pissed nonetheless. Metapod in the other hand is much more understanding, as a previously wild Pokémon surrounded by predators, battles that don’t end with his life taken are privileges.

[???]: You can hear them too?

You make your way to the Arena, the crowd seems bigger than before. Seems like the other guy arrived here first. He seems, strange? You aren’t sure why? Maybe it’s the all-black clothing in this summer heath, or the trench coat that make him look even more overweight, or the funny looking hat
Alongside him a Farfetch’d stands proudly displaying his characteristic stick, he also seems to be carrying something to his side, like a sheath? You guess he must store his stick there.

[Alabaster]: “Arsonist” your time is up! It’s time for you foul fiend to fall by the edge of my blade
[Alabaster]: As you see.

[Alabaster]: And now the arena is on fire and the “Arsonist” is at the gate, and you have the audacity to come to me for help?

Percy: Who are you talking to?

But his moves don't falter, they help him evade the attack shortly after being hit, reducing the damage caused.

>CRIT

With blinding speed the Farfetch’d moves through the arena, and before you noticed he is already motionless in the other side of the battleground, his wing extended and holding his blade which glimmer contrasts with the black fur he just slashed. His attack connected, boosted by the “Sword Dance” Alabaster grins.
>ALL ACCORDING TO KEIKAKU

But something isn’t right. Farfecth’d may be holding his swords, but his other wing is empty. Houndour who was bracing himself lift his head, turns to him, his mouth full of feathers, and a leek. He spits it out and gives Musashi a smug look.
Alabaster is worried. Musashi loses his damn mind, squawking like crazy. He let’s go of his sword and goes directly to Houndour.

[Alabaster]: A weapon does not make the warriors. It is the warrior who makes the weapon. Unburdened by your material possessions! Musashi use “Acrobatics”!

>Musashi has been hurt badly by the bite, he can go on but his conditions isn't the best, a couple attacks may do him in. His pride as a warrior has been hurt more, he'll be a lot more reckless and a lot less thoughtful.

>Musashi received damage! He's in a bad shape but he may not listen to reason on the state he is currently in.

Once again the Farfetch'd comes swinging at Houndour wildly with abandon, it's not hard for Houndour to step aside, even if his movements are quicker, he's clumsy, he's not paying attention to Houndour.

He finishes the battle with a last Flamethrower.

Laying in the middle of the arena lays the warrior, unconscious. Shielding his precious possession with all of his body. He may be tattered and burnt, but his leeks is safe. And for him. This is good enough.

Lets make our family proud. Watch the match of our next opponent so we can have the edge and bring ourselves closer to winning this whole damn thing. We can always search for the mysterious girl later. She is probably here to become a trainer herself so we are bound to encounter her on the road sometime. After some searching around you find the girl in blue garments wandering through the battlegrounds. You try to catch up to her, but she always seems to be a step ahead, constantly moving. She finally stops to see one of the matches. It’s your opportunity, you want to know what she meant with what she said earlier, could it be that she’s like you?

Kali: Chasing another girl Percival?

The big brown Pokémon starts rolling to Houndour, gaining speed closing in, ready to hit.

He's fast, big, and an easy target.

Houndour lets out a bigger than usual "Flamethrower"! The fire hits directly onto the BIbarel burning parts of his fur. But the attack isn't strong enough to make him slow down. Houndour who was concentrating on attacking receives Bro-barel attack directly!

>Houndour used Flamethrower! Boosted! It's not very effective

>CRIT
Most people consider “Yawn” to be an unavoidable attack for all means.
It affects Pokémon different senses, the smoke that comes forth the opponent mouth has a relaxing effect on the muscles and the nervous system once it’s inhaled. The sound waves from the yawn also has a similar effect. It’s loud enough to cover an entire regulated arena and the smoke expands pretty quickly.
But that won’t stop you.
Houndour rushes in before Bibarel has a chance to Yawn, he hold his breathe to avoid the smoke that is already coming from his mouth and in a split second lands a devastating Bite!
>Bro-barel flinched!
Houndour once again moves to gain some distance and to stay away from the smoke
>Bro-barel is in critical condition from that last attack!
>The poison damages Bro-barel!
>Bro-barel fainted!

>Winners are Percy and Houndour! They advance to the Semi-finals!

You are in it now, if you can keep this up you may have a chance to win the tournament!

OOC: sorry for the lateness, got some irl stuff to do.

Percy: She tends to get like that during battles

[Dad]: A passionate trainer! Good taste son

[Mom & Sis]: (disapproving grunt)

Percy: Wipe the floor with him! (You tried to say something she would)

She notices your screaming and turns her head towards, she gives you a big confident smile, she’s saying something you can’t quite make. Probably something overconfident like “That’s the plan” or “Don’t get too excited, you are next!” but you also notice some sincere gratitude on her expression.

The battle starts! It’s not a long one, Jaws is fast as FUCK, his natural lankiness and longer legs gives him the edge in the evading game. Wearing down his opponent with well placed water guns before finishing him off with an Aqua Tail. His attack is more than enough to send the opposing Pokémon to the other side of the Arena. The little reptile mon stands over his defeated opponent basking in the glory of victory.

But you can command your Pokémon to defend, focus on the attack or evade during battle. Even if it isn't you initial approach but the DC won't be lowered accordingly

Approach: Evasive
Command: Focus on attacking

>Partial pass!

>Houndour used Bite! A bit too late

Houndour pretends to attack the left side of the gator, get him to defend and leave the rest of his torso exposed. It seems to work, Jaws stepping backwards everytime Houndour seems to be ready to launch his attack, and finally he goes for the right side!

But this isn't Jaws first fight, he has seen his fair share of battles in a more ruthless environment, and just like Houndour he has developed a certain "sense" for battling, he expected this, and Eli did too

Eli: Retaliate from your right!

Spinning to his side Jaws hits Houndour's body with an Aqua Tail! the attack is strong enough to send a Rhyhorn flying! But this is not the case with Houndour. In the nick of time he managed to bite down on Jaws tail, holding it tightly.

>Jaws used Aqua Tail! It's super effective!
>Houndour is down to half his health, he can't take another attack as strong as that one

Houndour starts spinning, putting all his weight into it, everyone’s confusion lets him start dragging Jaws around, he starts picking up speed lifting the water type off the ground. Boy, he is doing it! He’s doing it!

Eli: Water gun! Make him let you go!

Jaws tries his best to fire a shot to Houndour face, he fails, fails again but on his third try…

Water flies at ludicrous speed straight to your Pokémon, he does he best to evade, waiting for the poison to finish Jaws, but the little blue gator continues to resist to unconsciousness. His attacks may be weaker but hey are more than usual, a little slips, less than half a second, is enough for various projectiles to hit Houndour's body, but her Pokémon isn't the only resilient one

Houndour stands, he is too motivated to let you down

>Jaws used Water Gun! It's weakened thanks to his current state! Houndour is now in a critical state! any kind of damage will finish him!

Eli: Jaws! Hey Jaws buddy move away!

Jaws is unresponsive, he’s giving his everything to keep awake

Percy: Let’s finish this! Flamethrower!

Eli: Move dammit! FUCKING SHIT JAWS GET OFF THE ARENA!

Houndour launches a last Flamethrower, his flames hit Jaws fully, it may not be too effective due to typing but it surely did some damage. Eli tried to run towards him but was stopped by the flames.
The water Pokémon drops to the ground, it’s eyes still open but he is almost unmoving, he only manages to muster a word

[Jaws]: Sorry

Eli: Oh shit, oh shit, fuck let’s get you some help, hang in there dude

Eli: This wasn’t about winning Percy

Eli:I knew it was close, I could see your Houndour completely wrecked! I knew if I got one hit Jaws would win

Eli:But he was in no condition to be pushed further, at least I could have used an item but I felt it would be cheap

The speaker calls your name. The Final Match is about to begin
You walk to the Arena, trying to focus on nothing but the battle itself.
Everyone is watching. The crowd seems confused and disappointed by the last match. Your family seems quite uncomfortable, Mom, Sis and Mr.Snob sit between your father and your Grandpa, authorities surround your gramps, he’s cuffed. Your dad is sporting a tired look and a black-eye.

Kali looks like shit, she’s has lost her will to live. Growlithe is embarrassed, CG.Orizaba assures the two of them they did their best

Dick’s team is arguing between itself.

[Alexandro]: Why can’t I have paid vacations if human workers can? Also, I want a raise! THIS IS EXPLOITATION! POWER TO THE POKÉMON!

Ankhati doesn’t say anything but his expression shows disagreement with Alexandro. Ankhati believes he is the one that deserves a raise, and longer vacations than Alexandro

Dick isn’t wearing pants anymore, they are laying in the ground covered in flames. He's holding his head, he seems to be sick and tired of everything

Houndour moves lightly on his feet, maintaining his distance, he’s focused on Deino waiting for him to make a move.

[Aleida]: You are quite skittish, don’t you think so Deino?

In sudden movement Deino turns his head to Houndour, uncovering his eyes for a second, they are blood red and glimmer menacingly, at the same time he bares his fangs showing his sharp rows of teeth while hissing in a disturbing manner. His very presence feels threatening
>Deino used Scary Face!

Houndour it’s shaken quite a bit, he’s frightened. His muscles tense up making his movements less fluid.
>Houndour´s speed harshly fell! Evading rolls have a harder DC!

His nervousness causes him to release his attack sooner than intended, it’s aiming for the head!

[Aleida]: To your right
Deino moves slightly completely avoiding the poisonous “Smog” projectile.

>What do?
>>
>>2856545
Ohhhhhhh
>>
>>2856611
Fug, that's not good. Figures everyone has scary face when we're using our speed reliant Pokemon. Can Houndour shake off the effects of the attack, or is that there for the duration of the battle?
>>
>>2856630
He can try to shake it off, but it would count as a command (OTHER)

If not, he'll remain tense for the rest of the battle
>>
>>2856611
>Command: Attack
>Move: Flamethrower
We need to get that burn on Deino, type resistance be damned, because Deino has 65 base attack and 45 base special attack. Then we can focus more on shaking off the speed debuff and wearing Deino down.
>>
>>2856641
Hm, alright then.
>Defend, try and shake off the effects of scary face
I'm loathe to attempt this, considering what happened the last time we tried to shake off an effect, but this thing's probably going to hit harder then us, and we need the speed.
>>
>>2856657
Deino has base 38 speed
Houndour has base 65 speed
>>
>>2856657
Considering we're already getting DCs of 6 for evading while being evasive, trying anything else is going to probably gate us at rolls of 7+. We need to be able to evade.
>>

>Attack
>Smog
Let's try that again, we need to poison him
>>
>>2856674
Ok, and? Even if we're still faster, we have to roll for it, and our speed being lowered makes evasion rolls, which we make great use of with Houndour, harder. Considering we crit failed an evasion roll even with our speed as normal we clearly don't need our speed to be even worse.

>Successful pass!

Houndour is tense, so you opt to tell him to tank the next attack, make use of that rigidness!

Deino uses “Dragon Breath”, the purplish gust of energy hits Houndour, but he is ready for it weathering the damage! He’s still good to go!

You tell Houndour to not let Deino get to him, he’s got no reason to be scared, and instruct him to try and relax his muscles again. Houndour complies, taking advantage of Deino who takes a second to rest after the attack. Houndour takes a deep breath closing his eyes before shaking his whole body and starting to move side to side
>Houndour regained his Speed! He’s back in top condition!

>Deino used Dragon Pulse! It's a Critical Hit!

[Aleida]: There’s no need to hold back

The energy circles around the Dragon's mouth and comes forth as a a bigger, devastating shockwave. Houndour tries to jump to the side and evade it. Barely grazing it. But Deino doesn't relent, he starts following Houndour with his attack while he runs around the Arena trying to escape from his assault

Once the shockwave is just about to hit Houndour, Deino put his all into it, the attack grows in size and power drastically, just for a split second, hitting Houndour with full force and sending him flying to the other side of the battlefield.

Percy: Houndour! Come back here!

You lift your hand to the air showing the “Full Restore”, as it must be done during official battles to signal the use of an Item. Houndour obliges.

Percy: This is not over yet.

[Houndour]: I want to sink my teeth on that damn Deino, he’s not taking us seriously

Seems like Dick’s team is still arguing about who’s the most best “employee” and discussing their “working conditions”, their trainer is watching your match closely. You look at him and give him a nod while showing the full restore in your hand.

He chuckles a bit (Relationship with Dick, Improved)

You spray your Pokémon with the healing liquid, it forms a certain kind of “mist” around him, his wound suddenly looks way better, it revitalizes him, he’s more than ready to throw down again!

Houndour is running at top speed, baring his fangs and aiming for Deino’s neck. Aleida tries to issue a command to Deino so he can retaliate and bite back, but Houndour is faster! He jumps, launching himself at the Dragon Type. Deino was overconfident, Houndour uses his weight to knock him down while his mouth closes hard on his opponent’s neck. Deino roars in pain. He’s got no chance to attack back!

>Deino used "Crunch"

The dragon types starts closing in, trying to crush Houndour with his jaws, Houndour manages to avoid his attack and gain a little more distance, just enough to be out of Deino's reach.

Both Pokémon are starting to look tired, the match has been long for both of them.

[Aleida]: We need to finish this Deino! Get him before he makes more distance!

Percy: My friend Mimikyu here is a great cook

Mimikyu rears his body from your back pack to say hi waving one of his limbs

Percy: Maybe you could try some of his Muffins after we win this

[Deino]: You heard that Commander? We’ll get muffins!

[Aleida]: Look out!

>Houndour let’s out one final flamethrower!
>Boosted attack!

His flames engulf Deino for a couple of seconds before subsiding. The Dragon type falls to the ground. It’s a Knock-Out

Percy: I didn’t told you cause you disappeared before I got a chance to do so.

[Announcer]: The winner of the Rookie Tournament! Finishing off with his signature move! Percival “Arsonist” Williams! Give him an applause everybody.
For a moment everyone is cheering for you. Your family (except Gramps) is elated, Sis, Mr.Snob and even Dad with his black eye are clamoring for you, your mom who’s a little more reserved joins them a little more calmly but you can see she’s proud. Gramps seems a little surprised, just barely. Eli is here too with her team, they are screaming their lungs out. Dick seems strangely pleased. Orizaba is looking at you approvingly, even Kali is clapping a little sarcastically.

[Crowd]: ARSONIST! ARSONIST!

Whismur and Vulpix go to the Arena to congratulate Houndour, whatever problem Whismur and him were having has been forgotten even if it’s just for this moment. Mimikyu pats you in the back, he knew you could do it. But says you shouldn’t lie when talking about food, that’s not appropriate for a Master such as yourself.

Aleida goes to her Pokémon, she gives him a revive and some berries.

[Aleida]: I never expected to find someone like me in this place. Maybe Houndour wasn’t wrong after all.

You go to Deino to hand over some Muffins, you thought you had run out of them but it seems Mimikyu has been practicing on his own, little guy really likes cooking. Deino munches happily on them, he's not even sore about losing

Percy: Why pit Pokémon against their trainers? Deino seems strong enough for battling on his own

[Aleida]: Pitting them against each other? What do you mean?.... Oooooh, sorry about that. That was more of an unfortunate consequence

[Aleida]: I’m just here to get some recruits!

[Aleida]: And whoops, It’s pretty late! We got to go back now!

[Aleida]: Time to go guys! Freedom is this way!

The Pokémon that got into fight with their trainers go to the arena, and not only them! Some of the other trainers Pokémon, and many wild ones gather around the girl. Dozen of Pidgeys, Taillows and Spearrows, some Rattatas and Zigzagoons, Tranpinch, even a couple of the Pet Pokémon and Standard starters that got eliminated on the preliminaries go with her.

Authorities are worried and the start surrounding her, since it’s technically property theft in the case of the Pokémon that were bought and are now trying to leave. But in the moment they doubt about apprehending a teenage girl a Flock of Xatu and half a dozen Claydols teleport with her.

[Aleida]: You should join us if you have the chance Percival!

Barbeque with family it is! It's a pretty good idea actually, Ludicolo Public Park has some nice spots for bbqs. Someone can go for the food while the fire is ready.

Eli is down for it, her dad couldn't come because his jackass boss needed him, and her mons are more than ready to get something to eat.

Eli: Count us in!

Dick is surprised by your offer.

Dick: I guess I could humor you a little, I’ll consider it

[Alexandro:] We better go or I’m quitting! I want the meat!

Dick:….We’ll go

And finally, Kali

You aren't sure why, but well, she said she'll hang with you after this thing was over. And technically you are all official trainers now.

Kali: What do you want Percival? Came here to rub your victory in my face?

[CG. Orizaba]: Be respectful Kali, there’s no need for animosity between fellow trainers.

Kali: What do you want Percy?

Percy: Well, we are having a barbeque to celebrate, my family and some friends. And well, you said that after the tournament, we could, you know hang out

Kali: Do you really expect me to go?

Percy:…. Yes?

Kali:…Fine! But you definitely have to come to my stupid party!

Wow a lot of people (and mons) are coming! at least more than you expected

Many of these would-be trainers have only known their Pokémon for a week. Of course the foundations for some of their relationships will be somewhat rocky. But that doesn’t mean they can’t grow with time. Just because many of these trainers didn’t start out prodigies or rich or whatever doesn’t mean they can’t develop into good trainers in the future, with strong bonds with their Pokemon. But this girl’s striking now, while their relationships haven’t quite developed the strong roots that come with shared experiences yet, or managed to overcome the differences that most relationships have, and nipping what could develop into long, fruitful partnerships in the bud before they even had the chance to really start.

A man wearing a combat uniform sits on the back of an armored car. He’s been called last minute to give aid to a group or more inexperienced grunts that can’t do anything right. It’s not surprising that most of the Blackstone workers on this particular “Area of work” are so incompetent, after all, most of them are failed trainers that couldn’t do anything else.

At least he got his High-School degree after his career as a trainer went down the drain. He worked at BlackStone on the “Security division” for a while. Rose through the ranks got enough money to start a movie rental store, that went well for a while, then streaming services came and he is here again.

Shit

The man finally arrives at his destination, he is carrying with him, besides his Pokéballs and issued “Regulated security equipment” (AKA, Guns) some noise cancelling earmuffs. He gets of the truck, the grunts who where previously lazing around stand tall and salute him

[Grunts]: Good morning Squad Leader Matthews!

[Matthews]: Leave that whole military thing to the Capture & Defense forces

[Matthews]:What’s the situation?

[Grunt]: We finally localized the missing
“Objectives” they are taking refugee in this abandoned house

[Matthews]: And why the hell are they still there?

[Grunt#2]: They are monsters! They defeated our Pokémon without breaking a sweat!

[Matthews]: Those little pink furballs? What the fuck wrong with you lot? Weren’t you a bunch of trainers?

[Grunt#1]: Only got two badges

[Grunt#2]: I couldn’t get any…

[Grunt#3]: I´m actually a major in Pokémon psychology, but is hard finding a job here

[Grunt#1]: And I’m sure one of those is a Loudred!

[Matthews]: I’m wasting my day here! I should be in the public battlegrounds cheering for my little girl! And you bunch of fuck-ups ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT!
>>
>>2858464

He hates his job sometimes, the man wonders if her daughter ate the breakfast he left for her in the morning, he wishes she did, is not good to battle on an empty stomach. Oh shit, did he even tell her he made her breakfast? Shit. He thinks for a moment that he sucks as a father. He knows his girl will do well in the tournament. She has a lot of drive and has been taking seriously the “Trainer” business for a long time now. She won’t be like this lot of grunts nor like him.

[Matthews]:All of you, instruct you Pokémon to cover the windows surrounding the house. If they can’t find something to do so

[Matthews]: If any of your Pokémon know smokescreen and/ or poison gas use both on the broken windows

[Matthews]: After you finish ready some Pokéballs to launch as soon as the little bastards start running thought the door.

From his Pokéball, the man releases a Poliwrath from his Pokéball that proceeds to bring down the door at the entrance, making it so it’s the only light source. Then he tells him to stand back and get ready to hit hard when the purple one comes out. He also brings out a Shiftry and instructs him to “Bullet seed” any pink targets that come out.

The man sends his own Wheezing inside the house to fill the place with his own Poison Gas, he puts on the noise cancelling earmuffs before the ear-splitting cries start.

It’s time to work.

The Poisoned Whismurs come out coughing and ready to retaliate! Only to fall to the barrage of bullet seeds from Shiftry. The grunts catch them with ease. Suddenly, from the door comes out a Loudred ready to hit Shiftry square in the face with a “Hammer Arm”, but Poliwrath intervenes using “Submission” to take down the Normal Type, and subsequently knocking it out with a “Dynamic Punch”

Targets secured.

[Grunt#1]: Shouldn’t we let these kinds of things to the Capture and Defense force?

[Matthews]: Can’t do. Those guys from “White Veil” labs want their lab-Rattatas back, and they are paying us. Grab a gas mask, search for any missing mons.

[Matthews]: Shit, the tournament! I need to get there ASAP.

Well, I had to go to sleep but glad to be proven wrong, we actually managed to win.

Also that Aleida bitch... damn.
QM, if you want Eli to stop being undisputed best girl, you need to up your game.
Guevara? Really?
So when does she start torturing and executing people with dissenting thoughts and traveling around trying to force her ideals down everybody's throat and giving them nothing but misery, starvation, stagnation, violence and death?
>>
I want dick to be part of our traveling group
He may be childish but so far he's actually pretty reasonable and ironically enough yhe most level headed guy we've met
>>
>>2858687
Nah man, he can't resist being away from that blonde bitch pussy for too long. He would never abandon chasing Kali to consider joining our journey.
>>
>>2858687
Honestly, I find the idea of inviting Kali along, just so that we can invite Dick along, to let him see that he’s going to be travelling with Eli and outright refuse until he sees that we’re taking Kali with us, and then have an internal crisis that ultimately ends with him grudgingly accompanying us hilarious. I think that’s jut me though.
>>
>>2858730
Yeah but then we'll need to have food for FOUR people plus mons on a journey. That's way too much, and I doubt Dick or Kali would be okay with that sort of thing being the way they are. We'll definitely encounter them a bunch of times on the journey though, make no mistake.
Speaking of journeys, when are we gonna come up with lists of things we need, like spare clothes changes, food and drink supplies, the ability to set up camp, etc. - basic survival shit?
>>
>>2858740
We can probably cover the specifics at the cookout. I'm sure Eli's dad will have some pointers too.
>>
>>2858740
Well I mean we’re pretty loaded right now, and Dick’s pretty obscenely rich, and Kali at least seems to be decently rich, if she could buy a macho brace and a bunch of rare candies for Growlithe, so I can’t imagine food would be much of an issue. And I mean, I think the mons could at least forage for themselves, if it came down to it, or at least carry their own food. Whimsur and Vulpix assumedly aren’t used to it, but Mimikyu and Houndour seem like they probably have at least some wilderness experience. It was mostly just a joke in passing though, wouldn’t mind bringing Dick along but more then three’s a crowd. Maybe draw him along with the idea of him going out to win the gym badges, prove his worthiness as a Pokémon trainer and a man, then returning to the city to woo Kali? As far as supplies go, I’d assumed we’d start getting ready once Eli actually gives us a departure day.

Oh yeah, what are you guys thinking we do with the Macho Brace? Are we going to cycle it around the team, to maximize gainz, or give it to someone specific? Figured it might be a decent idea to give it to Vulpix for a bit, to help her close that skill gap between her and the other Pokémon a little quicker, but can’t really say what to do with it after she’s caught up to the others.

Yeah I was thinking Vulpix too.

Either way I'm for only having Percy and Eli and the mons on the trip for now, but who knows what'll happen later on? Maybe we might get a third person on the quest, or whatever.

Also,
>This entire story
I have so many questions. Who are these White Veil guys? Are they responsible for the White Room? Did they have more then one facility then, for different types? Are these escaped lab Pokemon Matt just captured Whismur's family (It'd make sense, seeing as the Loudred has Hammer Arm)? Does that mean Whismur's an escaped lab Pokemon as well? Should we be worried about people coming after Whismur because of this?

Well I doubt we should be too worried, If they gave a shit they'd have paid attention to the shelter's incoming and picked it up when it came in.

The other points are fair enough, this is probably Whismur's family, and they're probably involved in the white room, and the Abomasite, and no-doubt we'll end up involved in that,

We won the tournament
I wonder if our family was recording, or the officials at the tournament record each match.

Homestly having Dick top off our group with Eli and Kali becoming our tsun rival who pops up once in a while sounds awesome.

Whatever we do we should check with Eli as well. She's going to have to deal with whoever we want to come along too.

I wonder what's in store for us, when the thread resumes. There is the party in the park, maybe after that I guess there going to be a official event to give the new trainers a give them a trainer badge. Maybe also a pokedeck and pokeballs depending how much the government is willing to dosh out to new trainers.

They might give us all one ball apiece, for the Pokemon we participated in the tournament with. Doubt they'll give us any for the rest of our teams though.
>>
>>2867732
Meaning we'll have to go out and buy Pokeballs ourselves with our new license. Some spares for if any new mons want to join our crew in the future is also a good plan.
>>
>>2867831
We should go to the store, when we have the chance. Spend some of that money before we go to all the gyms
>>
>>2867831
We should maybe get...five, I guess? Three for Abra, Murkrow, and probably Meowth as well, I imagine he'd want to get in on this catch and release thing, and two more, so we've got a pair for the last two members of our team, if neither of our Poke Pals decides to join us while we're travelling together.

Well yeah, we'll want to stock up on a variety of things, before we go on our trip with Eli. Get some provisions, camping supplies, the works.
