After teaching Whismur “Ice Beam” you told Vulpix she should try to learn it on her own, since her species can learn it naturally, besides it could be good way to start training if she wanted to battle. She seemed down with the idea, even teasing Whismur that she wouldn’t even need to use that “weird disc”, Houndour told Whismur to just ignore her.
It’s your last day of school, everyone is on high spirits! People on your grade are all discussing their upcoming journey plans. And everyone else is just excited for summer vacation. Since there’s really nothing left to do, the teachers and faculty just let students do what they please. Some events are planned by the faculty and the students themselves as to make the day a little more fun.
You usually skipped this day, since you preferred to hang out with your Pokémon friends but today you have some business to attend to.

There he is, standing on one side of the School battle grounds, seems like he has been waiting for you for a while. By his side are the Shiny Bagon who has attracted an even bigger crowd of onlookers than usual, and Cacnea, now sporting a sick pair of “Black Glasses”. He seems to take notice of your Vulpix, for a second he show some worry on his face but Bagon looks back at him assuring him he can take her.

Houndour finally finds a place where the Sandstorms isn't as bad as the rest of the arena. He runs towards it but the leech seed has started to tire him out and can't avoid being hit by the sand.

But before he gets to safety he gets him with a Poison Sting, it doesn't do much damage but it's deep on Houndour skin. He gives you a painful look and you know what he means.

Houndour plants his paws firmly onto earth and stands his ground. The pain fuels his anger and goddam he is pissed!

Dick: Cacnea use Needle Arm and finish this!

Houndour does not move, instead, he waits until Cacnea is as close as possible.

He may have the advantage, and if that attack hitted him it would certainly be over thanks to the poisoning, the raging sand and the leech seeds. Ankhati has no reason to fear.

But fear is an irrational thing,

Alexandro pushes the last remains of his strength to his lungs, inhaling as much air as he can, he prepares to let out a “Dragon Breath”! Meanwhile Whismur starts charging her Ice Beam once again, to finish this bout with the Dragon. It’s all about that first hit.

Alexandro let’s out a fiery blast of purple flames directed towards your Pokémon! At the same time Whismur attacks with an Ice Beam!
The attack connects!
The Ice beam was faster, Alexandro is unconscious on the ground. His expression still shows surprise for being hit. His flames barely touched Whismur, causing her no damage whatsoever.

Dick goes towards the Bagon, for a relatively Small Pokémon he is pretty heavy so the boy has trouble carrying him out of the arena.

Dick: Dumb, green lizard…

Dick: This isn’t over Williams! I still got a Pokémon left. Ankhati go!

The Cacnea has recomposed himself since he was affected by Houndour’s “Roar” and he’s more than ready to fight.

True, although I think a slam dunk would have actually pushed their need to work together even further. I'm mainly worried about the effects this battle will have on Houndour. The one that he viewed as the weaker and smaller "child" essentially bailed him out and not only destroyed another mon but also the one that forced him to flee.

Both Pokémons stand in the middle of the arena, unmoving. With their arms still extended hitting each other. You can see them both trying to push one another to the ground. They both know that they are at their limit. After a couple of seconds that seems like an eternity it happens. Both Pokémon bodies give up. Exhausted and hurt they both fall to the ground unconscious.

The crowd loses their minds. They don’t care who won. This was hype.

Honestly I think even if we hadn't given him the potion, he would have been in better shape than Cacnea after that Whismur beatdown. Not sure if he'll agree on this being a victory though.

The Sandstorm/Sand Veil/Leech Seed combo shows how effective he can be with a mon that listens to him. Shame about Bagon but with more time spent and battles fought together, it'll become clearer to the little dude that a trainer can be a force multiplier.
