You pick up the unused scroll from the fallen orc warrior. You take the Scroll of Fireball.
Captain Oakheart: "We're moving on. Finish your looting quickly and catch up."
The gladiator Ravage gives you a nod and proceeds into the council building made fortress with the captain. Salaman sends his summoned scorpions in after them.
You ignore the bronze orc weapons, they're not really valuable enough to be worth carrying.
You eye the steel coloured mace, still clutched by the dead hand of the orc that wielded it.
Salaman: "I sense a magic weapon..."
He crouches down and lifts it up. His eyes widen.
Salaman: "It's alive."
>"What do you mean Salaman?"
He hands the eerie weapon to you. The moment you grip it you feel a presence, the weapon speaks to your mind.
"Wield me Master... Make me your weapon... Slaughter your enemies..."

You have some basic familiarity with the concept of talking weapons. They're usually quite powerful and may have special abilities. But they are also known to influence the emotions of their wielder or worse; carry a curse. This particular one is giving you bad vibes, when you stare at it in makes your hairs stand on end, your hearts beating faster you feel a very slight dizziness. You look away. You can tell it's superior to your current weapon however.
"Unleash me... Master... I will make us strong..."
Salaman: "What's he saying?"

>"Wants me to wield it"
Salaman: "Well it doesn't feel demonic. I think anyway, I've never sensed demonic energy before."

>"Are you evil or cursed?"
"I am not evil Master... I wish only to serve you... and bring destruction to your enemies... My curse... Once you slay an enemy with me... you will be unable to discard me... It is no matter... you won't want me to leave..."
>"Why do you glow purple"
"This energy is my power... stuns enemies... although. Very tough enemies may. Resist."
>"How often does that happen? Is it something I activate or?"
"Every second strike... I'm overflowing with power!"

>"Got a name weapon?"

Happy to see Seeker Quest again, got all caught up last night.

>>"I'll wield you after I have more time to study you... Got a name weapon?"
If it doesn't, and we decide to use it, we need to name it something cool.
Otherwise, we'll end up naming it on a whim and have to call it something like "Donestun" every time it checks in.

It's words fade from your mind as you store it in your inventory.

You have half a mind to destroy the thing. A decision you may postpone till later assuming the weapon was telling the truth about its curse.

You enter the fort, Salaman close behind you. The room you enter is an absolute mess. Giant spider webs are everywhere. The tiled floor is covered in Grease. Oakheart and Ravage are trying to fight a lone shaman but it seems they can barely move in these conditions. Amongst the webbing summoned beetles clash against Salaman's scorpions. The bugs seem to traverse grease with relative ease.
Standing at the very edge of the room is the shaman. His robe is the same colour as the summons. He is wearing some sort of human sized cloak as a scarf. He lazily walks away from his enemies passing through the web and grease effortlessly. Occasionally he summons another beetle.

Oakheart: "CHRISTOF! DISPEL THIS SHIT IMMEDIATELY!"
He tugs angrily at his cape stuck to some web.

You currently have -80 penalty to Abjuration from all the effects you control.
You can shrug off your effects instantly.

You can perceive the following hostile effects that can be dispelled.

Basically just lining up Oakheart for the shot. If he can get close enough the Shaman is toast
>>
>>2751165
Also squeeze in "Go in for the kill, Captain" if possible.
>>
>>2751144
Do we know what's on the other side of that door? He's holding it shut so I assume something that would be good for us, bad for him?

>dispel hold portal
>dispel freedom of movement
>dispel the 2 webs holding our bros

have salaman send a free scorpion to occupy the shaman, and start walking through the grease to get him.
>>

I agree here, because we want the Summoner to stop first.
Free up our guys.
But moving on to the grease might be more pressing than the door.
Hold on the door hold.

You shrug off your buffs. You need to concentrate on Dispelling.
You Dispel both instances of the Grease.
Mustard casts Grease. Basically recovering the whole floor.
He gives you a shit-eating grin and waddles away from Oakheart.

>>2751195
The double door leads deeper into the complex. Otherwise there's a corridor leading to the front entrance you came from and another door that leads into another "to the side" room.

You dispel the Hold Portal.
Seems like the Shaman doesn't know how to cast that one since he doesn't immediately replace it.

You start moving carefully through the grease towards him. Salaman sends his spare scorpion to attack the Shaman.

Salaman summons a Salamite.

These actions will probably be done next update unless anons cancel them.

I'm good with that queue.

I want to suggest something but I'm not sure it'll work. Ravage would have to find a way out of the room first.
a. scorpion to move in and keep shaman busy
b. tell everyone to duck out of the room by nearest door
c. chuck a torch in this mess and slam doors shut
>>
>>2751254
I don't like this plan at all. Way too risky. Best take it slow and just kill the shaman dude

This shaman seems to know what he's doing. He'll definitely dismiss his webs if they're going to kill him.
If you shout this plan out to the others the shaman will hear you.

>>2751228

The Salamite quickly slides out of control on falls into a web. Salaman dismisses the Salamite.

>"A fine scarf you have. I will wipe my ass with it"
Mustard: "You'll have to catch me first imbecile!"
You start carefully moving through the grease to get to him, then you dispel his Freedom Of Movement. He gets stuck to a web that he was currently touching.
Mustard: "Oh a wise guy huh?"
He dismisses the web that was touching him and starts moving carefully through the Grease.

A scorpion reaches him. He summons another level 1 beetle to engage it.
You dispel the two webs holding Oakheart and Ravage.
Mustard casts Web ensnaring himself, Ravage and Oakheart.

Hack Ravage slashes the shaman for 16 damage.
The dispel on the shaman's magic item wears off and resumes its Freedom Of Movement effect. Mustard scuttles through the web a safe distance from Hack Ravage.
Mustard: "Oh dear. It appears I have been injured..."
He hums to himself and retrieves a healing potion from his cloak. Uncorks it, and then snorts the red healing vapor. The injury he sustained quickly fades.

Ravage: "No one likes a drawn out fight."

You aren't very close to the shaman but moving towards him means its harder for him to avoid the other two.

without the fireball. our allies are committed now, we gotta keep the window open with dispel. tell our allies to rip that scarf off his neck the next time they close in.
>>
If you use the fireball scroll while everyone is in the room either
A: Shaman dismisses all his webs immediately. (The grease is non-flammable.)
B: Shaman allows the fire to fill the room with heat and smoke harming everyone. Shaman will be able to avoid flames more easily due to freedom of movement.

The building is made from stone bricks and tiles. The risk of the building burning down is very low.

Shield wont protect from flames.
Endure Elements will protect from heat.
Resist Energy (Fire) will protect from fire.
>>
>>2751497
still don't use it. harming our allies would be a dick move
I'd rather keep the scroll for laters

You dispel his Freedom Of Movement again while closing in on him. And then dispel the webs snaring your allies.
He drops a new web ensnaring You, Ravage and Oakheart.
>"Grab his scarf quick!"
Hack snatches the cloak from his neck and wrestles it from the orc's grasp.
Hack Ravage equips Cloak of Freedom.
Mustard: "Woah hey wait."
Ravage passes through the web and grease easily and makes a called shot on Mustard's eyes scoring a critical hit! instant death.
The upper half of the shamans head flies off the body. Spinning into a wall. His summoned beetles fade from existence.
Hack Ravage: "He was stalling for time. We should continue on immediately."
Oak proceeds through the double doors.
Salaman looks at you waiting for you to do something.

Anyway I think I'll cut it here. (I'm really tired) I wanted to try running during /qst/ peak hours which is 2 AM for me.
I was pleasantly surprised by the increase in activity from running at that time but I don't think I'll try running at 2 again. It's too early.
>Next sesh will be in a week.
Also previously I was doing like, 2 updates in the middle of the week in addition to the regular sessions. I don't want to do that anymore, I look forward to running the quest a lot more when I wait the whole week.
Thanks for playing and cya.
>>
>>2751608
You guys sure about this? Ravage told us the shaman was delaying for time. Best we don't let looting distract us methinks
>>
>>2751661
Thanks for the run dol. Timezones are what hinders the quest's activity most really
>>
>>2751580
>>Check the side door
We need to clear that side room still.
There could enemies in there we don't want blindsiding us.
If we open it and see a swarm, fireball, close door, block with conveniently placed object, run up to others whistling.

Hack Ravage is right though, no looting.
>>
>>2751661
Hey good stuff man, glad to have caught a session.

>>2751662
I actually now think we could stand to >>2751762 clear the side room rather than loot. Like he said just a quick visual sweep. I'm sure they can hold on that long, Salaman's got delaying powers.

You quickly rifle the carcass of the freshly dead shaman.

You turn your attention to the side door and head on through. This room is filled with all sorts receptacles being used to hold some odd purple goop. An overturned table is covered in buckets and cooking pots and other hollow objects filled up with the purple liquid. Several vases tucked in the corner, also filled. A cauldron full of the stuff bubbles over a fire plonked on the floor. You have no idea what this stuff is, looks like a magic potion but is viscous to the touch. There are even more doors leading to other parts of the building. A plain one and one that's barred from your side. In the distance you hear some clashing metal coming from your allies.
