Welcome back to Warlord Quest you beautiful bloody bastards! I hope you're ready for bloodshed and loot, violence and hate, meathammering and cookies because by Vall's ironclad crotch you're going to GET IT.Last time, we participated in the assault on Crescent hall and personally murdered the shit out of several tough opponents. A pair of Crescent Knights under the service of Lord Thylos proved to be a match for us however and Magnus was wounded badly, clinging to life by the skin of his teeth. Through the gates of death and back again, broken in body but sound in mind, Magnus slumbers, lingering on the threshold.Death, the great Void itself refuses to come for him...Another has claim....>Character list and info sheet >Basic info sheet on the settinghttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1F40nnzNO8nrTbjUP-49m_ygMyNok-elalwBLVxyUhnc/edit?usp=drivesdk>Magnus's Character sheethttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1tMFQUUS6Tg-HUqIntR-_5ANsHLwh04muOBGwQpg10y8/edit?usp=drivesdk>Archivehttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Warlord+Quest%2C+Warlord%2C+WarlordQm%2C+Collective+Game%2C+Fantasy%2C+Arch+Magnus
>>2737556Add a new title. Magnus, the fallen.
>>2737562Magnus, the Death Cucker
You aren't sure how long you've been lying here. Here in the snow, the cold refusing to touch your flesh, the icy wind bringing no chill to your blood. The jagged stone beneath the snow as soft beneath your head as any pillowAre you here? Is this real?Is this death?Your vision is blurry, slowly coming into focus as you gaze upwards, your breathe not even steaming in the seemingly frigid air. Far, far above, the sky is speckled by millions of pinpricks of light, waving, undulating bands of green and blue, twisting like serpents in the night sky. The darkness of the new moon, if this realm even has a moon, allows the starlight and the twisting corona to cast stark shadows across the bleak landscape.Sitting up is a slow affair, your body simultaneously light and heavier than a mountain. Bracing your hand behind you, you never yourself up, a twinge of phantom pain promoting you to grunt, your voice echoing unnaturally. Your fingers show no reason for alarm, the wounds you remember refusing to show themselves. It seems, for now at least, that you are whole.>Look around>Stand>Lie back in the snow.>Call out (what say)>Other
>>2737577Welcome back btw QM, I've been missing this quest.
>>2737619Good to be back anon! Check out dungeon rebirth for more of my low quality bullshittery. I run these two in turn with each other
>>2737577>Call out (what say)"Oi, who is alive to bring me something to eat"
>>2737657"Oi, whoever is alive, bring me something to fuck!"
>>2737577>>StandUNBROKEN>>2737655You're quality is good though I wasn't interested in that other quest.
>>2737577>>StandLong time no see you mean old one eyed bastard.
>StandIcy wind whips past your body as you force yourself to your feet. Snow crunches beneath your feet, forcing between your toes, the wind scoured icy surface crackling like glass under your boots.Boots?Looking down, your feet are encased in a familiar looking pair of ironbound boots, the caps dotted in raised dull points of iron. In the blink of an eye, you go from nude as the day you were born to clad in your familiar leathers and mail, plate and scrap armor. Snow and ice crunch under your feet as you stride forward through this wasteland of frozen nothing. Far above, the stars watch on, as cold and callous as any assassin, staring down at this bleached and wind scoured hell.Through the endless plain of white, spires of black stone emerge like the spines of some great ocean beast. Their edges polished smooth as glass by the endless winds, the razored monoliths sing in the storm as the gale glances off their sides, honing the obsidian edges ever further. In the distance a figure stands, reduced by distance to miniscule size. Like a miniature wrought from ebony, its stark contrast to the snows surrounding it the only way your eyes can make it out.To the east, or at least what you assume is the east, a dull ruddy red glow emerges over the spires of obsidian. Like freshly forged iron cooling in air, the glow waxes and wanes like a heartbeat, pulsing against the night sky.To your west, assuming again, an ancient and weathered tree emerges from a cleft in the black stone. Its branches and trunk polished to a shining finish, the ancient colossus stands defiant against the endless storm.>Advance towards the Figure>Advance towards the burning glow>Advance towards the ancient Oak>remain in place. You move for no one.
>>2737744>>Advance towards the ancient Oak
>>2737708AYYYYY Cali! Haven't seen you since Gunslinger!
>>2737744To the oak.
>>2737744>>Advance towards the Figure
>>2737749Yea, it's been a minute. Glad you're still around and kickin!
>>2737744>The ancient OakIT'S TIME FOR FUN I kinda hope we can find something like this
>>2737800It doesnt represent the last of the Dryads does it?
>>2737805The Oak or the Hyborean sword?
>>2737807I meant the oak in general.
>>2737805I thought it was pretty obvious
>>2737744To the figure
>>2737816What do the other two represent then?
>>2737812I kinda thought it symbolized the unbending "I stand here and no man shall move me" line >>2737819The figure might be Vall or a spirit and I think the Glow is actually a symbolized form of the Riddle Of Steel
>>2737819There are two significant spirits with a claim to Magnus's soul (three if you want to get really technical). The figure is... Well the figure is the reason Magnus is here.
>>2737819I'm unsure about the other two, either could be self of Vall, but a tree well y'know nature and all
>>2737828Do we only get to see one of them
>>2737828Vall, the Dryad and the Duergir/Spirits?
>>2737837You *HAVE* to see the dark figure to leave this dream realm. You can see one of the other choices.
>>2737841The three main spirits/deity you are linked to are-Vall the Conqueror, The Destroyer, Hand of Ruin and Doom of HeavenCameera, Lady of the Twilight Woods, Last Queen of the Wild, Mistress of the Forest.Tuarevath, The Devouring Shadow, consumer of the Damned and Herald of the Abyss
So Magnus has lots of runes carved onto his body. They might be the devourer guy, Vaal, some dead bro or a far away giant.
>>2737864Oh this makes sense.
>>2737864>Cameera, Lady of the Twilight Woods, Last Queen of the Wild, Mistress of the Forest.Oh one of the premier waifus, have we put that sapling of hers somewhere yet? She was fun.
>>2737864I kinda don't want to work for the Devourer but I really don't mind achieving a sort of symbiosis between the Dryad and Vall
How about we become our own deity
>>2737871Cameera and Vaal? Isn't that already happening sort of with Magnus being the proxy? Vaal gives people cool shit for being cool, and Magnus already got that Animal Friend Perk.
>>2737871This anon is a straight shooter. I'll back ya.
>>2737875Of what though? Each God has a theme. If Magnus had one, what do you think it should be?
>>2737877I suppose I am just trying to get a Hyborean sword but I'm cool with having an animal friend>>2737882Murder, Loot, Raising, and Murder
>>2737882Gods mostly suck in these parts though. Spirits seem to be okayish. Like the Dryad lady took a toll sure, but that's the wild for you. It hurts, but you come out better, if you aren't a bitch.
>>2737881I don't mind working with nature spirits/old gods kinda deal but working for idk>>2737882Honestly, I'd rather just be a humble mortal conquerer, late game stuff usually kills my interest. Vall is murderhobo, Tree is hippy, and Devourer is edgy.Perhaps bringing about an old gods pantheon would be cool, but actually ascending to godhood would kill my interest desu
>>2737882So basically Vall became the godkiller and waged war against the gods. All the gods are weak as fuck now, but some are making a push like the moon bitch. Gods power is basically gained through worship and faith.I see Magnus as one signifying either the primal strength of nature, or war.
>>2737903Or rather thats my understanding. Cursed clarify my mistakes.
>>2737899Who said anything about working for anyone? We do favors and we get shit. That's it. in Dryad's case we also get crazy struggle snuggle too. Maybe. Also, in this world? I doubt a less tamed wild means hippy, more like sabertooths and elementals running around. Which sounds fun.
>>2737912Can you imagine? Magnus beating an Elemental for burning or soggying a fur carpet ad it cowers?
>>2737920Yes. Clearly it needs to get better at it's job and rise to burning crops or fucking up dams. How the fuck are we supposed to overcome adversity if elementals underperform like that?
>The oakThe ancient and immense trunk of the oak catches your eye. Its branches stripped of all leaves millennia ago, its bark scoured to nothingness by centuries of driving wind. Yet still it stands. The colossus may be dormant, it may more likely be dead but still it stands.Defiant in the face of eternity. You like that.Snow, shining black stone and frozen, centuries old bone crunch beneath your boots as you stride through the storm, your hair whipping across your face, the cold as intangible as the breathe of a ghost. Step by step, foot by foot, mile by mile you stride through the blizzard towards the ancient hulk. With each step closer you take, more details become apparent, more irregularities reveal themselves in the immense tree. The cracks and gouges in its trunk, some caused by the damage of storms, some by the claws of some monstrous beast. The symbols and runes carved into its monolithic girth, sigils and clan markings, names and prayers. Broken weapons and skulls, rent armor and wrapped forms litter the base of the tree, caked in snow and a thick red ice that could only be bloodsoaked snow. You gaze upwards into the bone white branches of the ancient giant and nearly start as a familiar voice whispers into your mind, feminine and vaguely worried, if exhausted.>"You should not be here.... Son of Man... This is no place for the forest... This is no place for life.... Leave this place before it claims you">What say?
>>2737929Thank you, I have yet to plant that seed of yours, but I will. Any advice for me here?
>>2737929>centuries old bone crunch beneath your boots as you stride through the storm>Broken weapons and skulls, rent armor and wrapped forms litter the base of the treeCan we pick some of these and keep it? I want ghost loot.>What say?Don't worry love, just passing though. I plant that soon enough once I'm out. You mind if I bring that little thing to a shaman to get it looked at? He might have some ideas on how to help.
>>2737929>I have no plans of being claimed here or now.
>>2737929Specifically I want to grab a skull, a weapon with the biggest handle+guard and some armor. I don't even care if we don't get to bring these back to the waking world. I just want it.
>>2737929>I have been here once before, and I will be here again, I wanted to look at what lay before me
>>2737962Im actually good with this
>>2737966I was thinking we could also ask the Mighty Oak what is best in life
>>2737958Those broken pieces of armor, weapons and bones are the Wild's trophies. The best loot is pried from an enemy's hands or his coffers.
>>2737968Cameera right? Is this her? I wonder what's up with the armor, weapons and skeletons.
>>2737969Mmmm you have a good point
>>2737973It's what the Wild has claimed as belonging to it, also the Dryad is not what is best in life
>>2738005I mean, as far as shieldmaidens go. A bitchin Dryad that digs us is pretty up there.
You clear your throat, every noise you make echoing despite the howling wind, echoing as if you stand at the bottom of a mineshaft."I have been here once before. I will be here again. I wished to see what lay before me"The wind would snatch away your words where they not echoing with the force of a blacksmiths hammer on steel. The oak shivers at your voice, stripped branches scraping against each other with the clatter of dried bone>"yes... You have been here before Magnus, Heir of Ruin... When your skull was cloven and your body broken... When your friends died and the only family you knew died in blood and fire.... This... Place... You are no stranger to it... But the Devourer has stayed his appetite..."You think back to the shadowy being Duergir summoned, the consumer of souls. The immense hunger that radiated from the presence had infected you, giving you the thirst for life. A curse you had chosen willingly."What would keep the Devourer from me? Does he not hunger? Am I not the meal he desires?"Again, that tired, sad laughter echoes in your mind, drops of red sap seeping from the cracks in the oak like blood from a wound."Not even he would claim you before your time. The Destroyers wrath would unmake him... Even if he wished to.... The void prevents him... It will not allow him the pleasure... Like a midnight pool hiding its depths... Here? Here you cannot be seen by death.... Even if you wish it">Ask about the figure>Ask about the red glow>Ask about the bodies, weapons and armor>Ask where you are>Other (write in)
>>2738030>>Ask about the red glow

>>2738040That is true, but you gotta enjoy other things. Like having the best loot and women. Sure kicking ass and taking names is great, but having excellent bedwarmers is up there. You gotta admit that.
>>2738030>>Ask about the bodies, weapons and armor
>>2738062>Ask about the bodies, weapons and armor
>Ask about the bodies, weapons and armorThe ruined and ancient weapons, forged for hands even larger than your own, litter the base of the trunk like fallen leaves. Many have been driven into the ground as deep as their wielders were able, others leaned against the smooth trunk like the braces for some iron shelter. Their edges are thick, durable and jagged, rife with spikes and aberrations, hooks and barbs meant to cause as much damage to flesh as possible. The armor scraps and helps, crushed breastplates and cracked shields sit beneath a later of snow and ice, jagged rents and clean slashes evident in the ancient metal. Ancient leather, weathered to the point of disintegration has long given up the effort of holding the iron together. Skulls and cloth wrapped bodies sit in nooks and arches in the roots, some normally sized, some belonging to giants, nearly four times the size of a mans. But the vast majority are angular, thick browed and solid, a pair of thick curved horns jutting from their brow and temples. Even the Wildfolk paid tribute here it seems."Even this relic has gotten attention from those who wander these wastes Cameera. Is this the great beacon of your power in this frozen hell? The tree shivers, each branch scraping against another with harsh, sharp clacks, several droplets of sap oozing down the trunk without regard for the cold. After a long silence, the voice in your mind returns, soft and weary, tinged with sadness>This was not always the waste you see now Son of Man.... Once it was green and warm... My fathers lesser children rose from the forests and fought for his glory.... I fought for his glory... When he fell at the hands of the Destroyer.... Winter reclaimed this place... They think still that this last scrap of his presence in this wasteland will allow him to hear their prayers. To bring back the sun and the forests... They bring offerings of fallen warriors, of weapons, the armor of fallen foes.... The ice has made them cold and hard... They wouldn't know warmth if it was shown to them... They would likely hate it..."Your breathe catches in your throat as you turn, taking in the immensity of the wastes. For as far as you can see, there is only darkness, sharp stone and snow. You aren't sure who or what could live up here but you doubt they are the reasonable sort."They seek to bring your father back? They hope that with enough sacrifice that the summers willr return?"Like sunlight on drifting dust, you can make out the faintest hint of Cameera in the shadows of a arching root, tracing a finger along a particularly large horned skull, the bone chipped and scratched by years of war.>"They are simple children.... All they know is hardship and pain.... You can't blame them. Perhaps one day I can bring life to this waste... When you fulfill your bargain perhaps....">What say before Cameera fades back into the spirit realm to rest
>>2738170Magnus was a farm boy once. You gotta give before you can get. Not take, take and take some more.
>>2738170So if these weapons and armor aren't doing much to ressurect their father, can we take some for the road?
>>2738170See you on the otherside
>>2738196You can try. You are not here in physicality though
>Any other votes?
>>2738185I'm going with just leaving
You walk forward slowly, your gaze drifting toward the hilt of a greatsword stuck point down into a bone white root. Its blade is easily five feet long, thick and jagged, spikes and aberrations adorning its length. You reach out, your gauntleted fingers open to wrap around the simply tooled iron hilt. To your shock, your fingers pass through the metal like smoke against cloth. You scowl, clenching your fist and turning to where you know Cameera watches you near-invisibly. Gesturing towards the piles of trophies and fallen corpses you shake your head slightly"I was born to farmers. You have to give to get. If you take and take and take, the land dies little by little. Before long, you have nothing but dust and ash... Or in this case, snow"Something very close to a soft laugh echoes in your mind as the roots themselves, somehow still living, shift and twitch in the permafrost.>"They know nothing of giving.... Taking is all they know now... Taking lives, wealth, women, against the teachings of the ancients.... Little more than beasts now... But giving? You know this well... What was it you said to me Magnus? 'Even the wildest forest can be made to bear fruit'... How very right you are..."With that, Cameera fades once more, the sparkling dust that comprises her lessened form drifting into the classroom surface of the ancient tree. You can feel the warmth of her eyes upon you as you turn towards the vast expanse of wind blasted snow. The fires to the east have faded, losing their pulsing glow but still burning against the spires of obsidian. Like fresh forged iron, like the molten ore in a cast, it glows with dull heat. Whatever molten rock still bubbles up in that direction, it holds no calling for you now.>Investigate the figure, it seems much closer>lean against the trunk. >>2738471On top of that, sitting around waiting by the tree might not be a good thing if we piss off someone and they take it out on it.
>The dark figureYour gaze settles on the midnight clad figure slowly marching through the snow. Like a drop of blood on a field of white, it stands out in stark contrast to the surrounding emptiness. You roll your shoulders, almost missing the pops and cracks of bone and tendon as you set off to meet the strange figure. Two pairs of armored boots crunch through the snow, grinding against jagged obsidian and ancient bone. With every step closer you can make out more details of your counterpart. Armor as black as the void and solid as a mountain, held with straps of leather and chain, marred by scratches and gouges, nicks and dents but still strong. A helm with only the barest slit for vision, angling forward like an axe head. Thick, rounded pauldrons capped with a thick ivory spike jut from his shoulders like the horns of a beast. Jagged, mismatched armor coats the shades arms, one hand encased in overlapping strips of riveted leather and iron, the fingers resembling crooked armored claws more than human digits. A dark fur cloak, coarse and threaded with white hairs hangs from his shoulders, blowing sideways in the wind. From his belt hangs a pair of long handled axes, their heads notched from a thousand battles. Across his back, in a leather and iron sheath is a inwardly curving greatsword, its hilt simple black iron wrapped in sweat stained leather. The wraith stops several paces before you, working the warped claws of his off hand, iron and bone cracking and scraping as the figure watches you, eyes glowing with a pale light in the darkness of the full helm. With a huff and a exasperated sigh, steam billowing from within the helm, the figure nods to you slightly, teeth audibly clicking together behind the face plate.>What say?
>>2739551>We both know I need to go back.
>>2739551Well shit, aren't we a pair of fuck ugly bastards. Offer the trooper a hand shake.Let's see- you can't be the old master of the storm blade, you don't feel like the devourer, you can't be death.....are you like my reflection? No, maybe one of the dead that whispers during battle.
>>2739551"That feel when no big titty goth gf."
>>2739551Return the nod "I'm sure you will get your chance sometime soon. But you know for now I still have things to do"
>>2739551>Gotta admit, I was hoping for a woman >Nos back first
>>2739551Nod back offer a sparing match
You resist the urge to smirk and return the nod, crossing your arms across your chest, wind whipped hair blowing across your face as you level your gaze on the black armoured figure."We both know i need to go back"Your voice suddenly feels a very small and feeble thing against the looming menace of the stranger. Eyes as cold and flat as a corpses eye you, narrowing behind hidden lids for a long moment before again, the stranger nods. Steam seeps from within the helm like the breathe of a dragon as the angular helm dips down for the briefest moment. For the faintest moment, you can *feel* a presence looking against you, phantom fingers dragging along your neck, a woman's cruel and mocking laughter. A thousand voices and one melded into one that whispers malevolence into your very soul. The figures eyes cut to a point over your shoulder and a surge of pure *nothingness* dispels the presence like snow in a forge."Im sure you'll get your chance with me soon enough but for now, I still have work to do"You keep your voice level and polite yet not servile, focusing on remaining impassive as the armored figure starts, nodding to himself and taking several steps forward. You fight the urge to shy back as the armored stranger leans in close, standing head and shoulders shorter than you but looming with power like a giant. A wet sniffling sounds from inside the brutal helm and you realise the stranger is smelling you. With a snort and a grunt, he turns, shaking his head as if to clear the scent from his nostrils. Turning to face you, the mangled hand points square at your chest. Like boulders being ripped from the depths of a pool of mud, like arrows being ripped from a corpse, wet, thick words are ripped from the creatures throat."Nnnooootttt youuuurrr tiiiime Soooonnnnn offf.... Vaaaaalllll... Nnnooootttttt yyyyeeetttttt.... Sooooonnnn.... Weee wiiiiilll meeeeeetttt"That armored claw curls into a fist, bone and tendon cracking as they are forced into a shape more similar to that of a human hand."Oooonnnneeee muuuuussstttt diiiieeeee.....">What say?

>>2739673>"Oooonnnneeee muuuuussstttt diiiieeeee....."But it said one must die, not everyone must die. The fuck kind of wacko omission shit is this guy trying to pull on us?

>>2739681Are you thinking he's the devourer? Because I think this guy is someone else. The last time we meet the devourer he was a lot more vocal.
>>2739686This isn't Vall though is it?

>>2739652I think I can find somebody
>>2739702>>2739699Maybe its the personification of all we've killed? What is waiting for us?
>>2739708Not likely. Cursed just said this was another mortal guy, not an amalgamation of all the people Magnus has killed in his life.
>Have we decided what to ask the Stranger yet?
>>2739721So a new dude I guess. Strange. He said we will meet soon, maybe he meant that one of us would die?
>>2739730My vote is to ask him who is and what he wants.
>>2739730>we'll kill more moonies>what did you mean by that>who are you and what do you wantwhy not all of these?>>2739733Between Magnus and the stranger, most likely. There can only be one.
The hissing, rasping gurgle of the strangers voice digs into your ears like barbed hooks as that mangled claw withdraws. Like the hammer blow on the anvil of a god, that growling declaration hangs in the air, unperturbed by the screaming winds. One must die. One must die. Who must die?You step forward, raising your voice above the rising storm."What do you mean? Who must die? Who ARE you?!"You halt in your tracks as those flat dead eyes focus on you. There is no life in them, no anger, no emotion. Just pure, cold malice. Whatever is behind that helm doesn't hate you, you realize. It hates *EVERYTHING*. But that malevolent mind seems to disregard violence for once and instead turns to face you fully. The whole hand, armored in a articulated black gauntlet that could be been ripped from a nobles corpse and extends a single finger, touching it to his own breastplate before pointing at you."Deeeeaaaaattttthhh.... Thhhheeeerrreeee caaaan beeee ooonnnlllyyy oooonnnneeee..... Soooonnnnn offfff Vaaaalllll..."That armored finger touches to his own chest once more"Orrrrr Thhheeee Deeeffiiiillllleerrrr"The Defiler? You've never heard of any warrior going by that name. You nearly start as the figure raises a armored hand to its helm, gripping the metal and pulling it free slowly, iron scraping on iron as the strangers face is revealed. It takes a lot for you to remain impassive as the ghastly ruin of the strangers face is revealed. Flesh melted like candlewax before some horrific conflagration, ears long since cut or burned away. Eyes the color of murky ice, bloodshot and cloudy. Teeth filed to points like some predatory beast, bared not in a grimace but simply because the lips were long since burned away. The skin that remains is the color of half burned charcoal and dark ash, wispy and coarse white hair sprouting in tangled lengths from the rear of that gruesome deaths head. Like a corpse risen to walk the earth, the stranger regards you face to face for a moment before nodding and replacing the helm slowly, joints popping against the endless march of time. You swallow back a surge of revulsion and nod in return, clenching your fists against a sudden chill."Well... 'Defiler' what do you want with me? Why pull me here?"Something very similar to a wet laugh emerges from within the helm as the figure turns away from you, gesturing towards the north horizon. A dull orange glow has slowly infected the sky like a misguided sunrise but as the source suddenly crests the edge of a rolling hill of ice and stone, its origin is revealed. Torches.Thousands upon thousands of torches.>Cont

Faint smells, lingering bitter and spicy herbs on your tongue, an ache in your ribs and back, your hand and knee. >Ow. Noise. Pls noEvery motion, every sound, every flickering bit of light drives another red hot nail into the spiraling headache currently drilling into the depths of your brain. Your mouth feels thick and slimy, your tongue glued to the roof of your mouth, your throat swollen and dry. You try to shift yourself and nearly howl with agony as your various wounds flare up, screaming complaints at you from a dozen dozen different spots. From the heaviness and slight roughness of your limbs, head and torso you can tell that layers of coarse cloth bandages cover you nearly from head to toe. You take a deep breathe, doing your best to plead for silence as the feminine babble around you grows ever louder."Hhnnnggg"A straining, rough groan is all that you can force from your battered lips. However it gets the desired response and the two familiar voices hush, leaning close, light and cool fingers tracing across your brow, your jaw, your chest, your arms."Magnus? Are you... Are you okay?"Mylea's soft voice is tinged with worry as she lays her palm against your chest, feeling your heartbeat as if searching for reassurance.Your face is covered with warm, clean tingles of long hair that smells of sunshine and clean air, arms wrapping around your neck. A small laugh comes from the side nearest the faint daylight and the warmth is slowly pulled away"Easy Mylea you'll smother him! With a grunt of effort, your ribs twinging in pain as you do, you bring your elbows back, pushing yourself upward. Immediately your body explodes with pain as joints and muscle pop and complain, letting you know exactly how hurt you were. Ysolde and Mylea gasp in shock trying to push you back down but even as weak as you are its like trying to hold back a landslide and you rise inch by inch despite their pleas."Magnuuuussss!! Duergir said you need rest! You-hrrggghh- Have. To. Lay. Down!!"Mylea huffs, hanging from your neck and attempting to drag you back down. As tempting a pillow her smoke chest may be, you can't give in.Ysolde pushes against your shoulder, aiding Mylea in her efforts with all her might, her high cheeks red with effort as she sets her full lips in a fierce snarl of exertion. She flips her long dark hair back over her shoulder with a groan of irritation as you smirk tired, looking down at her efforts with pained amusement. Her brows meet as she glares at you prettily, Mylea tugging on your neck like a child against a overly enthusiastic hound."Duergir says you're too weak to stand. You need to rest or you'll hurt yourself more!"She silks, pulling a strand of hair from her face and pushing against your bandaged chest once more. You laugh, wincing and bringing your unbandaged hand against your ribs with a grunt and shake your head"Dont you think ive slept enough? Id think you'd be happy to have me up and moving again"Your chuckle only seems to irritate the girls further as Mylea redoubles her efforts, going so far as to brace her legs against the wall in an effort to pull you back."You nearly diiieeeeedddd!!!"She squeals, her soft features red with exertion, her blue eyes scrunched shut as she grits her teeth."You've"*yank*"Been"*tug*"Sleeping"*pull*"For nearly a weeeek!!!"You resist the urge to laugh at her adorably ineffective efforts and shake your head, your hair tangled and knotted but surprising washed and actually woven with some sweet smelling herbs and strips of cloth. You grin against the pain and bring your bandaged hand around her midriff, the mass of slightly bloodstained bandages awkward and rather concerning. Looking down at the slender young woman you grin cheekily and despite her ire she returns it after a moment."Whats the matter? Miss me?"You laugh as she wraps her arms as far around you as she can, burying her face against your chest and sighing."Of course i did. What would happen to us if something happened to you? What would happen to.... We were so worried about you"Mylea finally ceases her frenzied tugging and kneels behind you, resting her cheek against the back of your neck, sniffling slightly"When they brought you in... We thought... We thought... You were covered in blood... And your hand... By the saints your poor hand"Warm, liquid tears trickle down the back of your shoulder and you bring your unwounded hand up to caress her cheek, her face red and large blue eyes brimming with tears."Im fine. Ive been hurt before and far far worse than that my dears. Im just glad to be alive. Wounds heal, death is a bit more permanent...."You trail off for a moment" thinking of the stranger you faced in your vision, the Beast in Iron, The Defiler. Shaking away the thoughts you force a large smile to your face and look down at Ysolde."Well what have I missed? How did my men fare? Im assuming they were the ones who dropped me here"A sudden rustle by the cave entrance prompts you to look up and you smile in genuine happiness to see Duergir limp in, supporting his slight weight on his carved whitewood staff. His hide robes are tattered and musty, amulets and charms hanging in thick bundles from his neck and wrists, satchets of powder and ground roots tucked into his countless pockets. His thin, dry voice fills the cave as he slowly makes his way in, leaning on his trademark crutch."Your men? For the most part, they are whole and healthy. Of your friends? You sit up, suddenly intense with the mention of two of your friends being wounded. Behind his veil of grey-white hair, Duergirs black eyes glitter as he smiles softly, holding up a withered and wrinkled hand to stay your words."They will live. There were others wounded worse than they who survived and those who were wounded half as bad who died. But I have treated and bound their wounds and even managed to save that brute of yours foot."You smirk at the thought of Arvel being told off and cowed by the frail old shaman and since as bruised muscles in your neck and jaw whine to you. Ysolde snuggles against your chest and you idly pull her a bit closer with your forearm."Urhost is a strong soul, I'm sure he'll be fine. Arvel is too stubborn to die, id have to cut his head off and burn it to put him down."You and the old shaman share a small moment of laughter, Mylea and Ysolde sharing a amused look as you force onwards"But what of Dagmar? Did he die, or suffer any wounds?"Duergir shakes his head slowly, the amulets and charms hanging from his neck jingling and clattering softly."No Magnus, Dagmar neither fell nor was he maimed. Other than a few cuts and bruises and a missing tooth at least... He has done naught for a week but crow of his own bravery and your weakness. Throth had a word with him last night I could hear in my face and I hope that will be the last of it"You scowl, your mind filling with images of Dagmar being forcefed his own intestines. You shake away the hopeful imagery and change the subject."At least he didnt get them all killed on the march back up here from Crescent Hall at least...speaking of which what of my share of the plunder?"Your wounded hand twinges with a sudden flare of sharp pain. The obvious continual grating of broken bones and pulped flesh. But this feels much, much worse than a simple break..."No, nevermind that, Duergir, be honest with me... what of my hand? The pain brings back memories... Ones id rather be forgotten. Will it ever heal?">Cont
>>2740597Duergir sighs, leaning heavily on his staff as he regards the mass of bandages and herbal ointments that encased your crushed hand. Without prompting from you, Ysolde hops up, grabbing a wooden stool and offering it to the ancient shaman. A small smile crossing his dry lips as he pats the young woman on the arm thankfully, sinking onto the stool with the crack of complaining joints. Taking your wrapped hand in both of his, he deftly begins unwrapping the layers of bandages, the smell of blood and pungent ointments, oils and herbs filling your nose"Your hand... Well Magnus... I won't lie to you my boy. Wren did his best with what he could. He is a capable healer in the field, able to treat broken bones, cuts, illness with the skill of most village healers. But this?"With a final layer, the wet rip of moist scabs and sticky fabric squelching unpleasantly, your ruined hand is revealed. Swollen and purple the flesh on the back of your palm torn down nearly to the bone. Stitches and herbal ointments cover the back of your hand in a mat of desperate efforts. The flesh is red and purple, black with bruising and congealed blood, your fingers crooked and scabbed with dozens of cuts. Just the effort of twitching your fingers makes you grit your teeth in agony as the brutalized tissue squeals in protest. Duergir prods the maimed tissue with a long nail and *tsk's* to himself."This required intensive care and immediately. The bones of your hand were crushed and broken a dozen times over, the tendons torn and smashed, the flesh reduced to pulp. It took all his skill just to save your hand from mortification, burdened as he was with the other wounded. Your hand is beyond the skill of any healer to repair now, much like poor Hemmiks leg. You will have to simply make do with your new limits my boy."Before you can even ask what your new limits even are, Duergir has pulled a small vial out from his belt, drizzling several droplets of a faintly purple oil onto your hand, the pain fading to a dull ache almost immediately."Your hand will heal, as much as it can. If you keep the bandages clean, keep from using it heavily and allow the bone to set in whatever way it is capable of, you will regain strength in the hand, if not any dexterity." >Cont
>>2740600>ContWith a chuckle and a glance towards Mylea and Ysolde, Duergir continues"Much to the detriment of your women... You will never be an artist with this hand magbus, not that you were in the first place. You can fight, in time. Strap the shield to your arm or try your luck at gripping a weapon. If you speak with Hemmik sweetly enough, he may even prepare you a brace that will force the bones back into a imitation of their correct form. It will be painful but you will regain use of your hand"You are silent for a moment, lowering your head till your hair hangs low over your scarred face. This is... Troubling. Your entire life you have been a warrior. Killing and fighting is your profession. Having your ability to practice your craft is like blinding a painter. Finally you lift your gaze and level it upon Duergir, a wry smile tugging the corner of your mouth."Pain and I are old friends Wise One. Its sweet to me as my mothers milk. Ill live, ill adapt and adjust and come out stronger as always. You twist your body slowly, swinging your bandaged and bruised legs off the side of the bed, Mylea leaning against your back and peering over your shoulder as you wipe your mouth with your uninjured hand, the taste of herbs and potions strong on your tongue. You idly reach and trace your fingers along the dark green scars across your upper shoulder, the markings raised and smooth to the touch. You raise a brow and level your gaze on Duergir, the shaman looking at the markings curiously."I have a question Duergir..."The wizened ancient chuckles like a dry wind, tapping his staff against the floor of the cave and nodding to himself, his veil of thin grey-white hair shaking like a branch laden withi dead leaves."You have as many questions as stones on a mountainside Magnus but ill do my best"Your shoulder tingles as you drag a finger along the raised welts, trying your best to relay the information to the best of your ability."On the way to Crescent Hill, in the Old Forest I couldn't sleep when we made camp. I took a walk into the forest... I *met* something out there Duergir. A spirit, some ancient being of the forest... She-""She?""What do you mean she?"You nearly laugh at Ysoldes and Mylea's indignant yelps as Duergir nods sagely, stroking his braided beard with a withered hand."A spirit you say? A woman of the woods? Did you learn the name of this... Apparition?"Mylea twirls a braided length of your hair while you lean forward, tucking your injured hand against your chest, taking a proferred cup of some steaming tea from Ysolde as she tends to the fire within the small oven Hemmik delivered."That I did Duergir... Among other things. Her name is Cameera, The Lady of The Forest, Daughter of the Wild King"Duergir starts, coughing in surprise and stamping his staff against the floor as his eyes widen."Cameera? Daughter of Hykelion? Magnus..... You attract the most curious of company..."You scratch your beard and smirk slightly, sipping the sweet and potent tea, hissing as your tongue is nearly scalded."What can I say? Ive always had a gift for the strange. What do you know of her? Is she dangerous?"Duergir chuckles, accepting his own mug of tea from Ysolde with a gracious nod and a sprinkle of some dried herbs. He eyes you through the swirling steam and speaks after a moment."Yes Magnus. Yes she is. Even diminished as she is, she is still mightier than any mortal warrior I know of. Her ilk have not been worshipped since the days of heroes and so they have slowly grown weak, the frailest of them consumed by the mightiest. I can only assume she is the last of her kind. Last of the Old Spirits of the Forest. Her kind were never malevolent, never cruel unless roused to anger, just impartial. One was as likely to recieve a boon or a curse as they were to be ignored. Such is the nature of... Nature."Duergir crackles at his small jest before continuing.>Cont
>>2742212>Cont"But... Ive heard little of her in well over a lifetime... Eh Magnus?"You can't help but laugh and grin like a madman as you nod, earning a dry cackle from Duergir and indignant gasps and light swats on your shoulder from Ysolde."I mean what man wouldn't? If not for just the story"Duergir turns a amulet between his fingers as he nods, still chuckling"Aye Magnus, just make sure the little ones arent listening when you tell it. Now... About those scars..."Standing slowly, Duergir limps over to you, dragging a nail along your scarred shoulder and humming to himself, closing his eyes for s moment and chewing his lip."She gave you something in exchange for your seed it seems... You are marked Magnus and in no small way. A portion of her essence was woven into yours, a true Mark of The Wild. In the Old days, Cameera was known as the Mistress of the Hunt... Hmm... so id imagine that wild beasts will have a much more tolerant opinion of you as long as you don't do anything stupid.... As hard as that is for you"You laugh along with the old shamans dry chuckle and Mylea and Ysolde's giggles as he returns to his stool. You suddenly remember and gesture at your pack"Mylea? Could you?""Of course Magnus!"She says brightly, bouncing off the bed and dragging your (for her) unbearably heavy pack over.Digging through it, you withdraw a roll of soft cloth and carefully unravel it, fixing your gaze on Duergir."After we... Made our deal, she asked of me a favor in exchange for her mark and a boon. She asked me to plant *this* for her, somewhere near humans"With a small flourish you reveal the silvery white flower, its nearly black leaves still fresh and green despite the week inside your pack. Even the soil among its roots is still dark and slightly moist. If you listen closely the flower itself is humming softly, a vague tingle in your ears that reminds you of distant singing.Duergir focuses on the flower as Mylea and Ysolde ooh and ahhh in wonder of its supernatural beauty and pleasant aroma. The old shaman holds his hand over the flower and closes his eyes, mumbling to himself. Finally his eyes shoot open and to your surprise, instead of anger, the old shaman is grinning happily."A Blossom of The Wild? My boy.... This is a direct link to the spirit herself. Planting this would not only give her much needed energy, it would bring fertility and life to the area you planted it in. >Plant it in Wolves Belly ValleyYou gingerly rewrap the faintly glowing flower as Duergir strokes his beard absentmindedly, his eyes focused somewhere far away. You stow the carefully bundled bloom back in your pack and clear your throat, calling Duergir from the depths of his thoughts. He focuses on you after a moment with a distracted grunt."If I planted this down in the Belly, do you think that would be a wise idea? Would it anger Vall to have another spirit possibly influencing us?"You aren't eager to tempt the wrath of your foremost spiritual patron and Duergir would be the best source of advice here. The old shaman sighs, wrinkling his brow as he thinks before finally rendering his thoughts to voice."If planted down in the Belly, that would likely see a great bounty from the fields and fruit trees from this day forth. The herds tended by the thralls would grow fat and healthy, dropping twins or even triplets and milking like rivers. Some of the thralls, those in the villages and the more nature sensitive among the Crag would make their way to this bloom and hear the voice of Cameera and countless some would worship her. That is the way of things. But as for Vall... Even I am not wise or arrogant enough to speak for him but..."The old shaman trails off, idly toying with a carved amulet as he stares into the distance, eyes unfocused. You lean forward, tapping his shoulder with a finger."But what Duergir?"Your question and gentle prodding seems to pull the wise one from his thoughts and he returns to you with a nod."But... Vall has never shown much interest in worship. He has no need of it and never has. As long as you don't curse his name or offer insult, he likely cares little for what you do in your own time. As long as you carry out his will or offer deeds in his name, Vall is pleased."Duergir nods to himself, slowly pushing himself to his feet. Without prompting from you, Mylea and Ysolde help the ancient healer to his feet. With kind words gratefully given, he frees himself from their attention and turns to face you fully, leaning heavily on his staff."Be sure to visit me so I may check on your wounds as you heal. I have instructed young Keera in a bit of basic healing and of course, Shalla will be along to check on you once she finishes with her duties, she has been quite worried. As it is, I have other matters to attend to Magnus and even I cannot shirk them."He cuts a small smile as his eyes flicker between Mylea and Ysolde"And as do you I believe... I will give Urhost your greetings when I change his bandages. Until the next time Magnus, I wish you a good day."You incline your head to Duergir, nodding the shaman farewell as he pushes open the bearskin covering to your home. Tossing back the mug of tea, you turn a predatory gaze onto Mylea and Ysolde, the pair suddenly realizing their peril. Mylea actually takes cover behind the taller girl, her voluptuous form comically revealed by Ysoldes slender frame. Wiping your lips and chin free of droplets of steaming tea, you eye them both hungrily, Ysoldes eyes fixed with a nearly identical look of hunger onto your scarred body. You hold up your maimed hand and give them both a rueful grin."My hand is sore, bruised and red. You'll both be feeling similarly""Oh yeah?"Ysoldes dark eyes flash as she almost imperceptibly licks her lips, her eyes flickering downward for a moment."Oh by the saints..."Mylea whispers, her pale cheeks turning crimson as she watches you approach. Her breathe has quickened as you loom over both the young women like a giant, taking Ysoldes chin between forefinger and thumb. She stares up at you, dark eyes wide and full lips parted."I like that fire in you."Your voice has dropped to a low growl as you bring your uninjured arm around her waist, lifting her up easily. Mylea squeals as you still, grabbing her soft rear with a large hand and easily lift her likewise, putting her over your shoulder before tossing both excitedly giggling women onto the bed. It has been far too long since you enjoyed the perks of being a warleader...>Time passesYou lay back against the soft furs of your bed, sweat rolling from your limbs, small stars dancing before your eyes. Am I doing it wrong?"Mylea's strained and panting voice rings in your ears like a silver chime and you smile up at the curvy young blonde, admiring the view of her shapely body as she works her hips with vigor and devotion, her small hands braced against your chest as her golden curls cling to her sweat-sticky cheek.>Cont

For a long, drawn out moment, your blood pounding in your ears like a waterfall, you stare at Mylea in frozen shock. Her soft, gentle features are tinged pink from her own delighted blush, her eyes wide as she waits for your response. For the longest time, all you can do is breathe, her long golden ringlets twitching with each o exhalation as she leans her head against your chest, looking up at you with a contented smile. Finally you break into a massive smile, bringing your sore and bruised hand around to hold her body close against you, ignoring the ache in your crushed bones. You chuckle and look up at the ceiling, shaking your head and grinning like a loon. Finally you look down at Mylea, her fingers tracing across your chest."Well... I wonder what my parents would say. All this time later and they're finally going to be grandparents..."You squeeze the curvy young woman against your chest and laugh at her delighted squeal. You pause in your happiness for a moment and touch Mylea's chin with a finger, looking into her eyes."How long have you known?"She smiles, her even teeth white against her rapidly tanning skin, the gifted silver necklace nestled between her ample busom."Just before you came back. My moons blood never came... I went to Shalla and she told me to speak with Duergir. He took a drop of my blood and tasted it and told me I was with child"She wriggle up your body like a eel, planting a firm kiss onto your lips with a large smile on her face, hugging around your neck and nearly smothering you before withdrawing, looking down at you happily"*Your* child Magnus. Duergir said its healthy and going to be a boy. Ysolde told me its too early to know but I trust Duergir. Im so happy! All I ever wanted was to be a good mother and care for my children!"She idly rubs her palm along her (for now) smooth stomach, her eyes closed in happiness before she looks up at you for your approval.A son? A firstborn son to carry your name? How could you not be happy? You laugh, carefully pulling your uninjured arm from underneath the snoring Ysolde, wrapping Mylea's short frame into a massive hug as you stand, holding her close as she showers small kisses upon your neck and lips. You pull back as she giggles breathlessly, tossing hair from your face with a jerk of your neck."A son? Duergir told you this? My firstborn... >Go see Shalla and KeeraBidding Mylea and the gently snoring Ysolde goodbye, you duck through the opening to your home, holding back the beaten in flap with your forearm and taking a deep breathe of the clean, crisp air of the high mountain pass. Smoke and cooking food, brewing ale and tanning hides, herbs and pungent steam hissing from beaten kettles, sweat and the scent of hundreds of humans. Its home to you.Below the stone path, nearly a hundred feet beneath you, the Crag Wolves are going about their day. Thralls carry loads and stir cookpots, sew garments and repair tools. In the Pit, shouts of bloodlust and fury echo out as two young warriors beat each other senseless. From the small forges and workshops carved into the split peak, hammers ring on metal, leather is cut and dried, red hot iron and steel hiss as they are quenched in boiling water. You step back as a winged shadow sweeps overhead, a familiar black feathered shape screeching happily as it wings by, beating its powerful wings to slow as it lands atop a spire of stone, its powerful claws digging into the stone. You laugh at the griffin pups not and look over its increased size with a proud eye."Seems you got bored of being chained up"You call out, noting the tattered leather and iron collar ganging from its thick neck. The young griffin snorts, clacking its hooked beak and warbling happily as it could its head at you."Yeah yeah I missed you too little guy."With a excited shriek, the young griffin leaps from its perch, swooping low over the village center and eliciting yelps of shock and irritation a long with squeals of delight from the children. You chuckle to yourself and make your way slowly down the curving path alongside the peak. Nodding and calling out in greeting to several Crag Wolves who call to you, patting the head of a familiar blonde toddler who smacks your leg with a wooden sword and even accepting a stern glare from Urhost's amazon of a wife Hylla. The fact she didnt bludgeon you with that iron kettle must mean she is in a good mood. Finally reaching your destination, you stand outside Shalla's home" the appreciably sized wood and stone hut concealing the entrance to a rounded cave that serves as shop, home and place of healing. Runes and souls are carved into the wood around the doorway, the entrance covered by a thick leather sheet braced with strips of wood. You take a deep breathe, a small smile on your face as you rap on the wooden doorway with your knuckles, shaking the entire frame of the house."Hello? Shalla? Keera? I wake up and you two weren't there to see me?"Your voice booms out, prompting laughter from some nearby Crag Wolves, several young women glaring jealously as the interior of Shallas home goes silent save for the groans of pain. Hushed whispers reach your ears and you smirk, preparing to barge into the healing hut when suddenly the door flies open and off its leather strap hinges as a ball of red headed fury slams into your chest with enough force to knock the breathe from you."Stupid reckless idiot son of a goat! Nearly getting yourself KILLED! AGAIN! After all the work me and Duergir put into sewing your big stupid head back together! Worrying m-Mylea and Ysolde and Keera to DEATH! Mylea is having a baby! What would they do without you you big oaf!"Shall punctuates nearly every word with a swift blow from a sturdy wooden mixing stick nearly long enough to count as a club, smacking you about the head and neck with it as her sharp features twist into a snarl of indignant fury. The look of pure bloodlust and actual blood smeared across her cheek suits her and you can't help but appreciate the sight even as she does her best to beat you senseless. Keera peeks around the edge of the cracked door frame and giggles as you feign surrender to the irate healer and her mixing stick of vengeance."I yield! I yield! No more!"You laugh, throwing your hands up in mock surrender as Shalla groans in irritation, smacking you across the kneecap with the mixing stick so hard you actually wince. You rub your knee, hopping on one foot for a moment before holding up both palms in a placating gesture"Shalla, Jeers, you have to believe me, it wasn't actually my intention to get beaten half to death. You see... There were these Moon Lord Paladins... Fifty of them... Huge, on huge horses too! I did my best to sa-OW!"Your attempt at salvaging your honor cuts off in a pained yelp as Shalla smacks your other kneecap with the stick, glaring with the pure irritation only a angered woman can possess. Keera, laughing uncontrollably as she staggers forward, wrapping both arms as far around your waist as she can. The petite thief stares up at you with a mirthful smile and winks at you, her short cut hair twitching in the light breeze."Wren already told us everything after Balon and Arvel managed to get you back home. Im glad you're okay Magnus... Veins pop like cords under your flesh, tendon and iron hard muscle standing out in sharp relief as you relax, grinning down at the suddenly flustered and red faced young healer, Keera looking up at you with a glazed expression on her face. The young women and female thralls going about their duties have stopped in their tracks for some reason, gaping at you with slack jaws and blushing cheeks. You smirk, shrugging as the men watching the exchange burst into slightly envious laughter, nudging each other's arms and cackling."Leave some for th'rest of us Magnus! Pots shatter and Lorn yelps in pain as a pair of heavy thumps indicate Shalla either tripping him or more likely tackling the unfortunate man. You chuckle, stroking her cheek with a thumb and nod."Im glad you've found something you enjoy my kitten. Get in there and help, make sure she doesnt kill him"Keera blinks in confusion, looking pointedly towards the doorway where crashes and curses still echo out."You aren't worried about him hurting her?"As if on cue, the wall to the hut shakes so hard dust and splinters fly free as Lorn is slammed into it, his pained yelps muffling as Shalla likely gags him with a rag. >Go see ThrothThe path to Throth's lair is daunting even when you are healthy and whole, even more so in your weakened condition. The steep switchbacking paths, the dizzying heights and the biting wind all combine for a truly breathtaking view and a commanding presence over the Crag. The only downside of course is actually getting up there.Setting your feet for the arduous climb, you plod along tirelessly, offering casual greetings to fellow warriors, smiles and friendly hair-rustling for children and mischevious winks to unmatched young women. With every level you ascend, the Crag Wolf village below grows smaller and smaller, the din of their daily life fading to a dull background murmur, only the loudest of shouts and hardest of hammer peals reaching your ears as you climb. The air grows chill as you ascend, your breath steaming in the air as the rocks and jagged stone face of the Crag become times with frost and small icicles, the altitude bringing winter early as you wipe a droplet of sweat from your cheek. Despite the chill and the whistling wind that tugs at your hair and clothes, you are panting like a dog. Leaning against the frost shimmering cliff face for a moment, you sigh in relief as the icy stone saps the excess heat from your flesh. Your head thumps against the stone softly and you nearly wince as your headache murmurs irritation but instead groan in bliss as the bruised flesh is instead chilled by the stone.Refreshed, you finish the climb with only a moderate amount of exhaustion, standing within a stones throw of the split summit of the Crag. Throth's home is just ahead of you, the heavy hide drapes keeping the warmth of the hearth inside and the deadly chill sealed outside. You two against the stone with a knucle, prompting a grunt from within before a familiar hoarse and gravelly voice booms out."Cant I get a bloody moment of peace? Every time I turn around one of you buggers is crawling up my ass... Come on in lets get this over with..."Throth grouses, his back turned to the entrance as you hold aside the hides for a moment, stepping inside and clearing your throat. He half turns, surprise and amusement evident on his burned face as he gnaws a chunk of tallow, mumbling the rich fat like a piece jerky."Sorry to disturb you Throth but I figured you would want to hear my report as soon as I was able to give it"You stand at a respectful distance as the Wolf Lord swallows the chunk of fat, running his tongue across his teeth and waving you forward as Sheema pokes her graying head from around the corner, likely puttering about in an adjoining room.>Cont

Running a palm across his shorn scalp, he leans back in his rough been blackstone throne, Fang sheathed and leaning against the imposing seat."Sheema... Dear wife, the man nearly died for the second time. Don't overwhelm him or he may just drop dead on us"His pleasantly bustling wife dismisses his complaints with a wave, patting your shoulder and stuffing a bowl of some hearty stew and a heel of thick crusted bread into your hands. She gives the Chieftan a mocking bow and sits by him happily, patting his thick forearm with a self satisfied smile. She gestures to you, seated and fed and trying not to laugh at the exasperation on Throth's face."Now, Husband of mine, he is ready to talk. Food, warm fire and there's FrostMint tea to drive the chill from his bones. NOW he is ready to talk."Throth sighs, rubbing his forehead with forefinger smd thumb before nodding, unable or unwilling to argue."Aye, aye. Thank you my dear. Magnus? You didnt die and most of your men made it back but you were wounded badly and Dagmar's story isn't adding up. Tell me boy, what happened out there?">What say (write in report)
>>2748713Tell him everything. I'll try to tell it my way, but pretty much tell him everything. For starters, the burning of the three smaller settlements went without a hitch. Maybe one guy died, a few get some scars, but everyone was all still ready for a rumble. After the villages were burned to attract the attention of the lancers we make a near perfect ambush that orientated them. Then men died bloodily and I changed my way through a hoard of men to their captain. I humiliated the arse and killed his second or so with his own bloody axe. They were both pretty Pathetic. Now onto the evaluation of the main raid. It went 'relatively' well. Wren's men snuck in, Meier -nice enough lad- and our snipers took their place, then Dagmar's party went ahead with getting the gate open. I think one of his boys blew their cover but at least they got the gate open. My men and I jumped the wall but had to aid Dagmar's group n raider else they would have been slaughtered by the bottle necking they got. After dealing with the wall of shields and steel I sent some of my lieutenants to reinforce Dagmars force while me and my men did away with the towers and a few archers. When we reach the last of them in the center of town I punched a hole through a building, then challenged their two best. I won obviously but that was the time my body decided to take a dirt nap. What exactly did I miss and what did that rat tell you? DarkSky didn't kill anyone did he?
>>2748713Also I know Dagmar's raiders are all about raiding, but I find their skills lacking. If I had the time I could make them into something better. Do you know how much wealth the raid had brought back to the Crag? Also uh, I met a forest lady and she gave my this magic bud. Duergir said it would be a boon to our people so I plan to plant it later in the valley today.
>>2748713Can I get your honest evaluation?just gonna post everything that comes to mind.I also want to know if our raid party returned to sift through the three villages on our way back to the Crag.
>>2748713How would Throth feel about the Crag getting some Dire Wolf beasts and mounts? (because if we plant the seed in the small valley we'll have more than enough to feed a larger population and some war beasts.)
Does anyone remember who has a gryphon pet besides Magnus and Wren?
>>2748791Well enough, though we flanked the main defense rather than clearing towers.>>2748867more food more better y'know. Dire wolves would be fitting mounts for the tribe though.
>>2749195There's a better species than dire wolves.
>>2749232What would be your choice? Dire wolves would thematically be pretty nice considering "Crag Wolves"Honestly, I'd really rather not overdo war beasts though.
>>2749195> though we flanked the main defense rather than clearing towers. What? My memory is foggy. What exactly did Magnus do then if he didn't clear the towers?>>2749232>>2749242A beast for each scenario? Archers could use the gryphons to snipe from the air or change locations.>>2749248tooooo big. we're not strong enough....yet.
>>2749248Wolves just make for better flavor for a group calling themselves wolves.>>2749252>everyone gets a fancy warbeastit's just too much, kinda takes away from them being special wouldn't you say?We flanked around to the east I think, to clear any attempted strong points.
>>2749258really?Well I guess that left the towers for the snipers. they did a good job anyways.
>>2748835>Can I get an honest opinion?Yes you can>Did you loot the villages on the way back. No, there were quite a few badly wounded and there was a sizeable Lancer force nearby. Priorities took over.>How would Throth feel about dire wolves and more War beasts? He would likely think very highly of Magnus for taking initiative and doing things for the betterment of the Crag Wolves.>>2748948Magnus, Wren, Arvel, Torbos and Falhim with nearly 16 others freshly hatched by now. In several months you could have a unit of Griffin Riders
You bow your head slightly to the Wolf Lord, Throth's close cropped beard twitching as he smiles slightly. Taking a sip of the sweet and mildly spicy FrostMint tea, you relish the warmth that spreads through your entire body before clearing your throat and settling yourself against the carved wooden chair, its surface polished smooth by generations of warleaders. Its a comfortable place to report from"Well...For starters, the burning of the three villages went without a hitch. Maybe lost one man, a few more earned some scars, but everyone was all still ready for a fight."Throth nods, rubbing his chin slowly, staring into the coals of the hearth. Sheema tuts at the misfortune of the villagers but keeps her chatter leashed for now, allowing you to continue."After the villages were burned to attract the attention of the lancers we set a near perfect ambush that caught them with their pants down. We piled the bastards five deep along the roadway. I fought my way through a hoard of men to their captain, some pompous cunt, a cousin or nephew to the local lord. I humiliated the twat and his bodyguards and killed him with his own bloody axe. They were all pretty pathetic. I claimed his horse too"Throth laughs heartily, leaning back in his throne and slapping his thigh, Sheema regarding him like a rambunctious child as he wipes a imaginary tear of mirth from his eye, narrowing his gaze at you."Careful Magnus! Next you'll tell me you fought off the entire Legion and brought me the Wyrms head on a pike!"You shrug, scratching your chin and looking Throth in the eye."Ive never lied to you yet Throth, why would I start here?"You raise your brows pointedly and Throth eventually nods slowly, gesturing for you to go on."Fair point Magnus. Continue"Now... Where was I... The main raid on Crescent Hall. It went 'relatively' well. Not as well as it could be but... Well enough. Wren and Ryk's men snuck in through the well which conveniently led from a small cave. Meier -nice enough lad- and our best marksmen took their place on a overlooking hilltop then Dagmar, Urhost and Arvel went ahead with getting the gate open. They got the gates open but the alarm was raised before they could get through. Reinforcements from the guardhouse blocked them out so My men and I jumped the wall and flanked the fuckers from the rear. We slaughtered them, unfortunately i took some heavy hits in the fighting">Cont
>>2752176>ContThroth looks at the bandages raising the fabric of your shirt and leggings, wrapped about your bicep and the bruised on your face and jaw."Doesn't look like they were hard enough to put you down for long. Glad you made it out alive... Dagmar has always been overconfident. Good of ya to back him up Magnus."Taking the praise in stride, you dip your head in a moment of thanks and forge onwards with your report."After dealing with the wall of shields and steel I sent Urhost and Arvel to reinforce Dagmar while me and my men did away with the towers and a few archers. I managed to keep a small group of townsfolk from escaping and turned them back to be rounded up by Meiers men at the gates as they moved in behind us. When we reached the center of town we saw they had made their stand in the town hall. I smashed a hole through the wall then challenged their two best. I won, as you can see by me being alive but that was the time my body decided it had had enough. What exactly did I miss and what did that rat tell you? That damn horse didn't kill anyone did he?"Throth is silent for a long moment, his steely eyes fixed on you with a predators precision before he leans across and smacks your shoulder hard enough to nearly reopen your wounds. A broad smile cracks his marred face and he guffaws heavily, his face reddening and shoulders shaking. Finally he calms enough to regard you again, Sheema patting his forearm with a large smile dimpling her plump cheeks as he booms in laughter"Boy! If I didnt have three other stories that back yours up id throw you down and clout your ear like a lying child! As it is, im impressed boy! Very impressed!"Throth lifts his mug of ale and toasts you as you lift your mug of tea in return. Drinking deeply, he sighs, shaking his head and leaning forward. His voice takes on a serious edge."From what I've heard, you and your men are the only reason Dagmar and his men werent butchered like sheep. You helped plan the assault which went off damn near perfectly. That shows cunning. You followed Dagmar despite his... Attitude. That shows me humility. You fought with the skill and ferocity you have become known for, throwing yourself into the thickest fighting to protect others. You have done well lad... Very well. And now that I have your record of what happened, I know that Dagmar is a lying little shit, no surprise there though.">Cont
>>2752180>ContYou crack a grin and chuckle as Throth shrugs expressively, Sheema pursing her lips in distaste of the arrogant raider. Throth swishes the ale through his teeth for a moment before swallowing and looking you over once more."To hear that cunt tell it, you led your men straight into an ambush after threatening and challenging him every step of the way. Apparently, you stole his glory by striking the captain of the guard from behind and claiming all the best loot for yourself while being a... What did he say... A drunken ogre. Allegedly, you also insulted his manhood and threatened to have Wren poison him if he indulged in his 'rights to the spoils'. He says that your foolishness and pride nearly ended the raid in disaster, only his 'brave rescue' after you were knocked unconscious by a half crippled stableboy carried the day."You sit in stunned silence before bursting out in laughter along with Throth, the Chieftan roaring with laughter as even Sheema laughs heartily, stamping her feet against the floor. Throth calms himself after a moment, his face red as a beet and shining."Ahhh... Not that I believed a word of it. Dagmar isn't the honest sort and not above lying to make himself look better. This, however, was so far fetched I couldn't believe a word of it. I wanted to make sure we were both on the same page and he wouldn't distract himself with torturing people.>Ask Throth about making war on a rival tribeI guess this is sort of related. Everyone remembered how we pitted the The Cave Stalkers against the The Wyrm Killers? It should be about time we jump in and, "Save the Wyrm Killers from the inbreeds.' Maybe in a week or two, or heck maybe even this week we could do something about it.If Magnus can convince Hemmik to make the arm brace for us, then all Magnus has to do is raid a rinky dinky little town and he'll be as fit as a fiddle. Or he could slaughter lesser monster, or maybe keep helpless sheep. I'm not sure how picky the Devourer is with our kills.
>>2752213The Wyrm. Not A Wyrm. The Wyrm is the nickname of Lord Maro Tessare, one of the Crag Wolves most hated enemies.

I know of what I am about to ask, so I ask it all the same. I'd like to meet Dagmar in the pits, or the field, and put an end to a waste of resources...one way or another."
>>2752257I think I know what you're suggesting. What about Ryk and whatother lackeys besides Meier under Dagmar's thumb? In a perfect world some of his lieutenant would start to prefer Magnus over their old boss.
>>2752229Is it possible there is someone in the Crag that can teach Magnus how to DODGE? Possibly Barbas for his fight gud wisdom and knowledge? >Make War not loveYou take Throth's praise of you and his belittlement of Dagmar with a smile and another swig of the fragrant tea. You look across Throth's chambers, from the preserved trophies of monsters and memorable hunts to the broken weapons and cleaned skulls of worthy foes. It reminds you of a certain little skirmish you helped start."Throth, ive been thinking about what has been going on between the Wyrm killers and the Cave Stalkers."The Wolf Lord chuckles to himself, running a hand across the leather wrapped hilt of his jagged bladed greatsword. Giving you a pointed look, a feral grin crosses his face."And those thoughts would be?"On the far wall is the preserved skull of a greater Wyrm, its skull still bearing the embedded axe blade of Throth's great grandfather Nhalko the Fearless. You gesture toward it with your mug, swallowing a mouthful of stew."The Wyrm killers have hopefully been fighting with the Cave Stalkers for a good month or so now. They both should have taken heavy losses in the raids and battles."Throth nods, mulling over your words as Sheema busies herself stirring the pot of stew, adding in various pinches of herbs and chopped vegetables. Finally he speaks, looking off into the distance."Perhaps it is time. The other tribes have grown either complacent or bold. The Black Hands, Snow Bears and the Troll Slayers gather for war, raiding the smaller clans. The Wyrm Killers, Cliff men and the Stone Bears grow lazy and fat. The Wave Hunters think themselves untouchable while the Sky Watchers forget about us all in favor of the stars. If the Moon Lords turn their attention on any of us, they could wipe us out with no effort. Maybe... Maybe it is time for the Wolves to rise once more..."Throth turns to look at you, his eyes glittering in the flickering firelight."You may not know this Magnus...We are the descendants of the greatest warriors that fought under Vall's banner. The Wolves of Vall. His vanguard through a thousand thousand battles. When the Silver Legion swept through this valley and burned our homes in that long ago age, my ancestors kept to their oaths and took the Crag as their seat. They knew that one day, we would rise again and by Vall, I would say the time is coming...."Drumming his fingers on the armrest to his throne, Throth watches you carefully, his eyes hidden in pools of shadow."Where will you go first Magnus? >>2752543I'm not familiar with some of these. Are some of these new?Maybe we can pay the The Wyrm Killers a visit with a small party, said party will have a faux interest in learning about how they killed a wyrm in some vain attempt to garner glory for the wolves? Dunno, can work something out. I'm not sure if those Wyrm Killers would be instant buddies of ours if we kill all those incest mutant first. At the very least they be grateful but not sure by how much.

Their leader Rual is a simple minded savage, leading through fear and brutality.I think we need to take these guys out first. The ores in their caves will be quite useful in our efforts moving forward, the only problems I foresee is that we have no idea what ELSE lives in those caves. Have they cleared them out completely or are there things like shriekers still in the depths that they are constantly suppressing by just being there? I feel that not slaughtering them all (at least immediately) would be a good idea here. Yes they may be filthy savages but the things they could teach us about ambushes could be worth keeping a few of them alive long enough to learn these skills. Afterward we can simply release these people or slaughter them by sending them into battle for us or as raiders till they are wiped out. Get the most benefit out of them before we wipe our hands of them. Maybe a few of them will be worth keeping but I doubt many will be salvageable.Killing them off could also get us some clout with the Wyrm Killers but I doubt they will want to be our friends if they EVER figure out that we are the reason they are at war with the Cave Stalkers. (aka brutal ambushes). They might also have good hunting techniques that they use to hunt down things in caves that could be worth learning. I see no reason not to take any benefit we can get out of them and then tossing them to the wind if they can't be reeducated or turned into something useful.
>Cave Stalkers seem to be the unlucky winners.>Bueno?
>>2753219Sure. Afterwards I want to deal with those goat men.

>>2753219KIll the cavestalkers, try to align and posture the 'diplomatic' annexation of the Wyrm-Hunters
You think back to the grimy, filth coated barbarians that you faced on the way to claim the storm blade. The cave stalkers were vile, disgusting and cruel savages but they could have their uses, either as fodder in future battles or as a means to access the rich veins of ore in their caves. You nod to yourself and meet Throth's gaze."The Cave Stalkers. They will be weakened and distracted by fighting with the Wyrm Killers. If we hit them hard and fast, they'll crumble and we'll fold them into our own. With them out of the way, we can put the screws to them and if we twist hard enough, they'll have no choice but to join us"Throth swigs his ale as he stares into the fire, the flickering flames casting stark shadows across his face before he nods slowly. Lifting his gaze he stares intently for a moment before speaking."While ive never had more than contempt for the Cave Stalkers, vile dung eating rats they are, they are vicious warriors. If their.... Tendencies can be hammered out of them, they may be of use to us. You have my blessing Magnus. Unleash your fury upon them and bring them to heel. If they will not follow, break them so they may never rise again.""Magnus, I need you to witness this. We are nothing without tradition."Standing, Throth rises from his throne and crosses to the fire. Drawing a large, heavy bladed dagger from his belt, he draws the blade across the ball of his thumb. His face remains impressive as squeezes out several drops of blood that hiss as they drop into the fire. Sheathing the dagger, he closes his eyes and nods solemnly."I, Throth, son of Ulvan, swear to deliver the blood of The Cave Stalkers. Their warriors will be broken on the field. The tears of their women will salt the earth. They will be reforged like iron so they may join the ranks of the Wolves."Turning his solemn gaze onto you, Throth crosses his arm, heedless of the droplets of blood trickling from his hand."May the ancestors guide your hand Magnus. I wish you victory in the battles to come">Magnus has been given full permission to make War on the Cave Stalkers by Throth. Fellow Warleaders can be recruited to help against them.>Ask Throth a question>Ask Throth about War beasts>Ask Throth about rumors>Ask about fellow warleaders.>Beg your leave
>>2753536>>Ask about fellow warleaders. So, anyone of the opinion that we should maybe go do a bit of adventuring before we commit ourselves against the Cave Stalkers? I could dig either finding some sweet gear or working towards getting another blessing.
>>2753542>begin organizing cavalry unit and shooting griffins>while that's going on grab another weapon of legend to dual wield against inbreds>return, hop onto our Griffin, and look like a hero of old as we recruit every other warleader in the crag to fight with us
>>2753552We'll need a brace first, but ya this is fine. At least train ourselves to be able to ride our Griffin to battle, and perhaps start training some cavalry.
>>2753552I don't think cav would help us much here in the mountains though
>>2753536>Ask about fellow warleaders. We will have to go around and talk to each of the war leaders and see who else is up to the challenge, but does Throth have any suggestions? Any experts amongst our numbers? One think for certain if we have to do any cave splunking, we'll need to do something about the darkness. If those mutants had enough stem cells to rub between their fingers, they'll have some defensive positions and traps where they can fling their shit stained weapons. Sure one can let their eyes adjust to the darkness, but how far that can go in a cave is questionable.>>2753542Some preparation is in order. The men in need of time off will unfortunately have to stay home and we'll have to get a brace for Magnus. I don't know if Torbos wants to go or not, crippled foot be damned, but I think this would be a good time for him to stay it at home with his wife and children.Oh and possibly get some more Runes.>>2753552We should do something about Lionel's Calvary knowledge and Meiers sniping skills. Magnus is like the unspoken boss of all the griffin pups, plus with the fact all of them will tolerate him more than most others, so for the purpose of boosting our relationship with the little sniper I think we should gift him a pup if we hven't gifted them all already. The Sky Watchers have their great birds and marksmen. We will soon have our own.You mean do another round of tomb spelunking? Is the griffin pup big enough to support Magnus's weight? If it is then I suppose this would be a good opportunity for him to get used to being a mount.>>2753560Besides commission that brace, we still need to plant that bud before the end of today.>>2753569It's a good thing we have flying bird. While I understand Lionel's horseback cavalier knowledge doesn't translate well to Lion-avian flying hybrids, any knowledge is better than none.
>>2753574Speaking of our flying bird, I think how we gave our Axe to Urhost to improve him, if Lionel is going to be training lancers we should second the horse to him.
>>2753030Do you? I'm defining operational goals, not strategic or tactical goals.>>2753536>Ask Throth about fellow warleadersWe need to know who gets to share in our glory.>>2753574>Gift Meier a griffinNot a bad idea, if we can steal him away from Dagmar. Him and Wren providing aerial cover would be pretty badass.
>>2753651I agree. We never needed the horse.
>>2753651You mean DarkSky? Can his ass even handle him? DarkSky is th a horse as Magnus to a normal peasant.>>2753655If we get far enough with Meier then he could have a pivot mount saddle attachment to his griffin so her can brace his large crossbow.
>>2753688Now I want us to get an alchemist somewhere too so that Meier can be our AC-130 and drop firebombs on people.
>>2753695Best bet is to raid another town or go back to one of the places we raided, fuck up the soldiers left there, then try to find a book store. Fucking Dagmar that ass.
>>2753700He'll get his. I don't think we should challenge him though - au contraire, I vote we be super nice to him. That way he either thinks we're an idiot who hasn't figured out that he tried to paint us bad, or he knows we're on to him and it'll psych him out and possibly push him to come after us.
>>2753560We should save the griffin rider unit as an ace in the hole. When the moon lords or whoever finally gets pissed off enough at us to send a REAL response, we hit them with flying griffin riders. Sure we start training them up now, but don’t use them and keep it a secret. That way when we need them the enemy won’t have any effective countermeasures available on hand to deal with it, and we can use them to keep the moonies on the back foot. If all they are expecting is our usual shit, they will be unprepared for griffin riders.
>>2753742Or. We can field the griffin units once their ready, then queue training the wolf riders.
So Magnus is gonna have a busy time today. He’s gotta commission a brace to eventually help regain motor function and coordination in his fucked up hand. He’s gotta plant the bud. He’s gotta find a few agreeable warlords to join in the attacks on the cave stalkers. And lastly, I propose Magnus go to the the Wyrm Killers and see if we can get anything from them or commitments to join Magnus and the Crag Wolves if he helps them against the cave stalkers. We don’t need to let the Wyrm Killers know that we have already decided to kill/assimilate the cave stalkers. This way maybe we can get 2 tribes to join us out of a single war. Sure they will both be weakened, but we can use that to make joining Magnus and the Crag Wolves seem like an even more attractive prospect.
>>2753742We need to at least learn to fly our griffin
>>2753536Ask throth about Lionel training cavalry and other war leaders
Perhaps we should seek to subjugate the cave stalkers by the crag wolves own merit, i think that it might would lend more credibility to us leading a confederation of the tribes if we don't have to ask others for help.
>>2753746Wolf riders can already be countered with their lancers. Griffin units have an entirely different counter unit in archers. If we leave the griffins as a surprise then we could use them to snipe off lancer formations until they catch on. Yes I am aware that the lancers also have short bows. I don't think they are recurve bows so if we armor the griffins then they probably wouldn't be able to do much damage to them.Another use would be to have them on hand to prevent reinforcements if they ever try to siege the Crag, or ferry in supplies if we are sieged. Having air units that can air drop in food prevents sieges from really working. They can't just surround us and wait us out.
>Ask about fellow warleadersYou bow your head in acceptance of Throths blessing and permission, knowing the Old Wolf's preference for tradition. You meet his gaze and raise your cup to him as he thumps heavily onto his throne."Thank you Throth, I will return with them at heel or not at all"Throth chuckles, waving your words away and points a thick finger in your direction."Don't worry about that boy. If they somehow get the best of you, get out of there. Losing a bit of face is better than getting all your men killed and eaten."You can't help but agree with him, too many foolish leaders think retreat is shameful. Coming back to fight your for at a later date of your choosing is a sound strategy. The Captain taught you that. Although... Having some help would be a good way to overpower the Cave Stalkers. You clear your throat, catching Throth's attention."You said I could ask the other war leaders to accompany my host against the Cave Stalkers. Do you have any suggestions?"Throth grunts assertion, chewing his his cheek for a moment before nodding."Aye, figured youd ask that. You'll have to promise them a sizeable share of the takings. Prisoners, weapons, loot, what have you. Their assistance won't be cheap unless you seriously sweet talk them. Now... There's Yourself, Dagmar, Kharkas, Tych and Odrin. Of course Barbas but as Warmaster, he will call on YOU, not the other way around. I suggest speaking with Kharkas and Odrin. They've got reason to fight the Cave Stalkers and they'll more than likely help if you ask. Kharkas hasnt had a good fight in months the irritable fuck so you'll have to chase him there once he gets going... Ondrin is... Ondrin. He's a odd cunt. Terrific fighter though.">Ask about a specific warleader>Ask Throth a question>Ask about a enemy tribe>ask about rumors>Other>Beg your leave
>>2754169Ask about possibly getting more ware beasts.
>>2754169>>ask about rumorsMay as well check and see about anything in the rumor mill.I think perhaps we could offer the two suggested leaders the lions share of the loot. After all, our goal is confederation not shiny baubles. We could also shame Dagmar into joining us since he tried spreading lies about us. If he won't follow us, perhaps challenge his leadership. Either take his men for our own or offer Meier our support, effectively gaining the men in all but name.
>>2754182At most I think we need just one other warleader. Too many leaders then there wont be enough loot for everyone.
If we promise Hemmik a fresh supply of ore in the future, do you guys think he'll make us that brace?
Gotta wonder. If there's a secret to absorbing the essence of things we kill, then why aren't we doing it? If Vaal can do it then it's worth a try right?
>>2754186Well, it's apparent that the Cave Stalkers are known for their numbers, ambushes, and living in a cave network. We could do with as many men as we can gather, as it's been mentioned we may even run into some monsters and such in their caves. Trading off most of the shares of loot to be gained for ample men seems fair to me considering loot isn't our primary motivation here.
>>2754208If we are going to go into a cave, we need to gear up right, and prep right. Instead of a huge swarm of men, lets take a small team of skilled stalkers, trappers, and scouts, coupled with heavily armed and shield bearing warriors.Equipment should be spears and short ranged weapons for close in work.Basically we need to control the environment.
>>2754208They're only good at ambushing and defending their home. That's it. If we catch them by suprise then we only have to worry about one of those for half way through. Sure the more men the merrier, but all warriors want some share of loot. However, most of the Cave Stalkers loot are covered in putrid dry and moist filth. there's only so many men you can field in a cave at once without worrying about friendly fire. What if we throw a monster at them and call it a day?
>>2754223More men means more control can be maintained as we push into the caves. Keeping areas once cleared under control can help prevent us being surrounded in unfamiliar ground. What I should expect they would be good at, luring people deep into their caves and then attacking. We're not going to be able to amass a "huge swarm of men" but it'd be damn foolish to think a small band of men is going to be advantageous.I don't think you realize what you even mean by controlling an environment, it becomes much more viable the more men you have.>>2754224Perhaps I am misunderstanding here, but the way I'm understanding it their home consists of a large cave network, we'll want men to control access points and larger areas of the caves as we proceed.
>>2754224the big prize will be lorewise, the cave is rich in ores and minerals, the Crag could go from leather to plate and mail with that. The cave comes stocked with its own supply of Thralls, we just need to remind them of such. Right now they are under the misconception that they are warriors and not miners.
>>2754235We could always kidnap some of their men and interrogate them for information on their home defenses.
So what are we gonna do after talking with Throth? Plant the seed? Think that sexy tree lady will give magnus something personally for the trouble?
>>2754236That's what I'm saying, the real prize is our tribe gaining access to mines and a stock of laborers, of course we can surely use some of them as levies when the need arises. Also a fine place to park thralls.>>2754247I think it'b be just fine to go down to our lil valley and plant the flower, may as well get them crops growin'>>2754237Still, more men is going to make things easier.
>>2754267Just plant it directly into the crag. The ground there is barren and will become fertile, as will our people. The valley is just where thralls farm for us. To convert more land to something usable is good.
>>2754235Caves aren't big open places. A cavern can be, but not a cave. Caves are tight, claustrophobic and in general awful. Our men will be advancing single filed at points. My definition of a small band is enough men to control our fore and back, and break off executing clearing duty as we go. Less than 100, but more than 60. If we shield wall within the caverns and stab as we go, making sure the way is clear with scouts and trackers just ahead of us, we negate their major advantages.
>>2754272Rocks won't grow plants. The valley will yield ample food and livestock, it's the best place to plant it.
>>2754280the seed can be planted in the crag, but all it does is make it so plants can grow there and make the place more hospitable. I still want to plant it in the controlled valley.
>>2754278The facts of the matter is we don't know the exact nature of their home ground except that they live in caves and they have an advantage in numbers. I would rather remove the option of them bleeding us out in a war of attrition. If ~100 or so men could do it I feel that they'd have already been laid low.
>>2754284Just saying that increasing the fertility of the crag would be a negligible gain compared making our valley super fertile.
>>2754287there are only so many type of crops you can grow on a mountain as opposed to the base of a valley.
>>2754290Not to mention livestock
>>2754293wait fuck you're for us planting in the crag aren't you. I mixed you and >>2754278 up.
>>2754280The Seed makes land arable. We control the Crag, and the Valley. Though the valley is much smaller than the crag. The valley is just a small aspect of our Crag.
>>2754341And the crag is rocks.Making the valley super fertile is an actually useful thing, and just as you're inferring the mountains around the valley would also likely see some minor benefits as well.
>>2754357What if we ask Cameera to make another plant for the Crag once she's strong enough?
I still suggest that after we kick the cave stalkers asses that we take aside some of the more capable people and have them teach us their methods for ambushing. These guys have an insanely strong immune system for surviving the way they live and i just think killing all of them would be a waste of potential. If we can train them up we could have our own mini Vietcong force.
>>2754370Of course we're going to lean towards capturing over murdering the whole lot of them. It would be a damn waste to give them dirt naps instead of, well doing anything other than being little shit heads.
>>2754357its implied that the crag will become valuable land. Instead i'll just ask cursedQM so we can stop dancing.---Cursed:Effects of seed in Valley vs Crag?
>>2754368I'm sure than in time Cameera will grant further boons to us and the Crag Wolves, why wouldn't she?>>2754370Of course, if we subjugate them we can always draw some men from them. It would make sense to have the best of their warriors kept as fighting men while the rest toil in the mines.
>>2754375It's implied that it will improve whatever land it's planted on, I should seriously doubt we'll see fruit orchards growing out of boulders.
>>2754375Effects of seed in valley: More food, more population growth and happier people. Beasts reproduce faster and healthier, growing large. Small nature spirits will begin manifesting. Cameera is pleased. Throth is pleased.Effects of seed in Crag: People become more fertile. Crag becomes much more tolerable to live in, becoming warmer. Moss grows everywhere. Some children born may exhibit tendencies of Natures blessing.Cameera is very pleased. Throth is confused. People are concerned with larger than average babies with strange features.

You sit in comfortable silence for a bit, Sheema's endless startling a comforting hum in the background as she bustles about. You sip from your mug of tea, munching thick, crusty bread laden with hearty stew. Its only after you have scraped your bowl clean with the crust of the bread and washed it down so you dust your hands and level your gaze on Throth."Im sure you hear a bit more than I do of the going on's in the valley and beyond"You state pointedly, Throth chuckling as he stares into the fire, running a thumb across the Kimmel of his greatsword."Aye boy. Wren isnt the only scout we have. There are eyes flung far through the valley. Traders and nomads drop news when they come through. The Cliff Men always offer information along with hides and cheese in exchange for tools and whatnot. I do my best to keep my ears open."Throth turns his head slightly to focus on you with one eye, the firelight flickering on the shining and puckered skin of his burned cheek and scalp."Why do you ask my boy? Wondering if I can tell you some ancient wisdom? Ha! All I have are whispers on the wind and the things ive learned with my own wits and my own hands. But I can tell you some whispers aye... That I can do. I trust ya lad. More'n I can say for most of the others"You smile to yourself and set your empty mug and bowl aside" leaning forward attentively as Throth clears his throat. You lean your elbows on your knees and give the Old Wolf your full attention as he speaks."Wych, he just came back from a far ranging trip, scouting out some of the old mountain fortresses. They were abandoned in the Age of Heroes but many are still well preserved. He says GrimSpear's Holdfast has been sealed though. Sealed from the inside... Not sure what t'make of that. Could be bandits or some crazy cult or ogres or even a bloody bunch of adventurers. Lets see... Ive gotten birds back in that tell of the giants moving in towards Shepherds Rest. Entire clans, all of them, their mammoth herds numbering in hundreds. All headed towards that one valley. Only been done twice that I know of. Theyre choosing a... "Great Shepherd" to lead them. The big fuckers are getting ready for war. What that means for us depends on which fucker gets picked."Throth looks pointedly across the chamber towards a giants skull embedded on a thick iron spike, dull and chipped with age."Bastards are hard to kill... Their stupid fat cousins are even worse... Bloody hate ogres. Anyhow... Where was I... Ah... Theres a WildFolk chieftan who's been giving the Blood Axes hell for the past few months. Crazy bastard led his tribe OVER the bloody peaks. Lost more than half of them but he got them into the valley. They've been fighting for months under the command of this 'Stone Bull'. Nice enough from what ive heard. Smart and even tempered enough for a twelve foot horned beast.... He's doomed though. Once the Blood Axes are done with the Skull Takers, they'll finish those cunts off.">Cont
>>2754485>ContYou cant help but raise your brow at the influx of information but it seems Throth has hit a rich vein of information. The Wolf Lord pushes onward, swigging from his mug and chattering as happily as his wife does."Lets see.... Theres tell of a monster striking from above near the Roost. A beast of black and red, striking like a thunderbolt and leaving only corpses. Think you might have something to do with old BloodBeak having his feathers in a twist?"You grin ruefully and rub your neck, looking away in mock innocence."Ive got no idea what you're talking about. Those Pups and eggs were just sitting there I swear!"You laugh as Throth chuckles, wiping ale from his lips and splashing the dregs of his mug into the fire with a hiss."Ha! And Barbas will quit drinking and the Sky Watchers will stop being pompous twats. Pull the other one Magnus, its got bells on it. Ha! Ha! Haaaa.... Where was I... Ah, you'll like this one. With the Highlanders and the Wildfolk tribes moving against the Gates, The Wyrm himself is being forced to move out many of his own troops. His defenses are being lowered bit by bit. He is still too powerful to attack directly but just know, the snake is bleeding. Even his wealth has limits"Throth yawns into his hand, obviously slightly weary from the conversation. >Beg your leave.Deciding that the last thing you want to do is overstay your welcome as Throth grows weary, you rise, dipping your head low for a moment in respect. Most men of the Crag Wolves don't bow but the Captain instilled some deep rooted lessons into you as a boy. They will likely never fade."Thank you for your hospitality my Chieftan. Ill take my leave, I have my own matters to attend as well as you im sure."Throth nods, gesturing with his hand as he shakes his head at your formality."Boy, if I worried about you intruding on my good will id have thrown you out the door an hour ago. You're free to come here as ya please unless im sleepin'... Then ya can kindly fuck off unless the Crag is on fire or Vall himself and all my ancestors are pissin' in the spring"Fixing you with a level, clear gaze, Throth barks out his rasping laughter as you do likewise, nodding your head and stepping out the door as Sheema urges you on, chattering away to remind you to bring "those lovely girls" the next time you visited. Stepping out into the frigid, clean air of the highest point of the Crag, you look down the mountainside towards the Crag itself. Even from this height, it bustles with activity, men, women and children, Wolves and Thralls alike going about their day.To your left, to the south-west, is the Wolves Belly. The small fertile valley is a stretch of vibrant green amidst the grey-brown and white white of the mountainside. Small farming hamlets and brown fields of tilled earth stand out like droplets of ink on snow. A small lake dominates the western end of the valley, the water twinkling in the late afternoon sun like a field of gems. The entire valley is only accessible through the Crag itself via a narrow, switchbacking path or from the air. The sheer sides of the peaks and their stupifying heights are all but suicide to scale. It is the source of most of the food and raw materials fro the Crag, the few mines and livestock herds your peoole possessed being located there. Cameera's bloom seems to chime softly inside your shirt, the blossom vibrating slightly as you stare out over the valley. Perhaps it is time to plant the bloom.>Head down into the Wolves Belly>go talk to Barbas>Go talk to Hemmik>Go talk to one of your friends>Go see your griffin pup. >>2754747>>2754789Dicelord has the right idea, let's take birdbeast with us to plant the thing.
>>2754789Sure why not. The more we take our griffin pup around the Crag with us and socialize with him, the more instinctive and instantaneous his trust will be of us. That will be necessary if we ever want to be a griffin rider in combat.
>>2755320It will also hopefully help him acclimate to the rest of the Crag Wolves so if we ever release him on a battlefield he will not try to attack our own guys.
So long as we get to plant the seed, sure let's bring the Griffin.
>Take your griffin along down to the Wolves BellyYou make your way down from the summit of the Crag, the switchbacking trail growing warmer and less frosty with every level you descend. The sounds of the bustling village returns to your ears slowly, overpowering the murmuring voices that lurk in the back of your mind. Calling out in greeting to those who spot you, you take a sharp left to the seemingly sharp drop off located at the far edge of the Crag, tucking your thumbs into your belt as you walk. The trail to The Wolves Belly is a narrow, switchbacking path that angles down the mountainside, worn deep into the stone by generations of plodding feet and hooves. Many efforts have been made to expand it over the years but they have always fallen off as more important events took precedence. Carved wooden handrails are tied to posts driven into sockets drilled into the stone, the ancient wood is smooth and bone hard under your hand as your feet take you one step at a time into the valley. Nearly halfway down, passing Thralls carrying baskets of root vegetables and dried fish, their eyes turning down out of fear and respect, a ear piercing shriek catches your attention. A winged shadow crosses the sun, diving downwards with a shriek so loud the Thralls cry out in fear and shock, leaping back as the beast spreads its wings with such force the pressure increase makes your ears pop. With slow, heavy flaps, your griffin pup circles you slowly, screeching happily as it does. You can't help but smile at the beasts natural excitement and shake your head, eying the broken chain dangling from its collar."Guess you're coming with me eh?"A happy warble answers you and you have no choice but to bark out a exasperated laugh and continue on, the horse sized griffin pup screeching happily as it circles you. A puff of feathers descends as a unfortunate rock dove is snatched from the air by the young griffin, gulped down in a single snapping bite. The Thralls murmur in shock and amazement behind you, their eyes fixed on the griffin.>Head to the far end of the Valley near the Lake>Head to the farming villages>Head to the forest>Look for somewhere special (Write in)

>>2755988>>2756010I'm personally of the mind of placing it in between the town and forest in a shrine or special garden that we have the thralls construct. That way its near both. The forest will most likely expand near it and eventually overtake it.
I find building a shrine to a god kind of weird, or awkward. Since Vaal and almost everyone's ancestors did battle against the hippies, and now we'll have our own farm grown hippies.
>>2756243I say just plant it and let it play out, nonsense building a shrine
>>2756255>>2756267It will probably create it own but i just dont want the flower to be trampled by just being planted out in the open without any cover. I doubt that it would die easily but if it looks exotic the villages could try to pluck it to give to their wives as gifts. I just want to avoid that. I guess just telling them not to fuck with the flower would do but I feel like we could get some more favor by building it a small area to protect it.
>>2756277You're worried the magical flower to be trampled of all things? That's nonsense. You'd made to be blind, deaf, a brained vegetable and magically innert to not notice the magical goddess flower. Let's just plant it in the forest and be done with it.

>Between Forest and Town in a special spot seems to be the winnerWhile near the lake would be a excellent idea in your opinion, the shimmering water being a peaceful backdrop, you decide not to plant the Bloom near it. It is so far from the Crag and from any real villages or farms its benefits would be negligible. Planting it near the small villages seems a good idea. Increasing the bounty of the fields they till and the herds they raise could do nothing but good. However, planting it in the forest seems like a good idea as well. The trees will grow tall, bearing fruit fit for any meal. The beasts of the forest, the deer and boar and goats will grow fat and lazy, easy pickings for the hunters of the Crag Wolves. Both options tempt you and try as you might, you cannot decide. The rich, dark soil of the valley floor is soft beneath your feet, the scent of the forest heavy on the wind as you finally reach the bottom of the trail. Small fields and plots of land sit by small huts and cabins, the occasional small communal barn amidst clusters of hovels. The Thralls and Crag Wolves who tend these fields are a different sort and care little for the turmoil of the Valley of the Moon.As you look out across the villages, you are subject to a barely remembered flash of memory. Walking, stumbling along behind someone, a man, his face lost in the glare of the sun and the shadow of his hat as he tosses handfuls of seed into freshly tilled furrows. The scent of rich soil, of livestock, of sweat and seasoned wood, of baking bread and fresh made butter. You blink away the flash and shake your head, rubbing at your eyes for a moment. You aren't a farmer. Your father was. If he were a warrior, he would still live. They both would. So consumed are you in your thoughts your feet carry you where they may. Through the forest and over rolling meadows, across a small stream and past bleating herds of goats, wide eyed shepherd boys watching you from afar. When you finally return to the present, you find yourself in a small clearing surrounded by tall, straight trunked trees, their limbs straight as spears and reaching gracefully over the clearing. Their rusty red leaves and dull grey trunk identifies them to you as IronWoods, known for the incredible strength of the wood. In the center of the clearing is the ancient, worn stump of a great IronWood, reaching just over knee high to you. The bowl shaped depression in its center is filled with the powdered detritus of decayed bark and leaf mould, so rich and fertile its as black as coal. The bloom is nearly singing in your shirt as you look about the clearing, marveling in the natural beauty. A soft voice murmurs in your ear, amazement and sheer exhausted joy.>"Its...its... Perfect. Its perfect Magnus! Please... Please plant the Bloom here. Please... Do it now!">Plant it in the IronWood grove>Look for somewhere else

>Plant it in the IronWood GroveKneeling next to the ancient, weathered stump, you pull the carefully wrapped bloom from within your shirt. The otherworldly blossom vibrates slightly in your hand as you gently unwrap the layer of cloth. Soft, golden light leaks between your fingers for a moment as you reveal the silver-white bloom, taking it in your hand, you run a thumb across the nearly black leaves. With your free hand, you scoop a small depression into the rich soil in the center of the trunk. The roots of the Bloom seem to almost wriggle in delight as you gently place it into the depression, scooping soil over the roots and mounding it along the thin stalk. >"Ahhhh..... Thank you Magnus.... This is much better!"Cameera whispers into your mind, the trees around you rustling, the grass blowing in an phantom wind. Branches creak and groan, the trunks flexing like muscles. Leaves twitch and crackle like a billion insects. The Mistress of the Wild laughs in the wind, her phantom image nearly skipping as she runs about, fainter than a shadow in moonlight. She is still insubstantial and weak but for now, she is recovering. You raise from your knee and dust your hands off, smiling to yourself as the Nature Spirit turns to you, a smile splitting her exotic features as she gently strokes the trunk of an ironwood.>"Thank you Magnus... I will not forget this. You chose to help me... I will help you in turn once my strength returns to me... I have work I must do here, I must construct an altar and shrine so I may speak with those who come... But...."She fixes you with a mischevious and slightly predatory gaze"Please feel free to come and visit.. If you like"With that, she blinks from existence with the suddenness of a snuffed candle, leaving behind only the afterimage of her eyes and her laughter, like wind in the trees. Already, small vines are sprouting from the base of the IronWoods, inching their way up the trunks in growth sped up a thousand times over. The branches overhead begin shifting, weaving themselves into a complex lattice, leaves and twigs interlocking to form a arched roof with a single, rounded opening in the center allowing the daylight to filter down onto the otherwordly blossom.>Stand and Watch.>Go see the Farming villages.>Go back to the Crag.>Explore the Valley>Other

>Stand and Watch seems to win.Retreating a short ways, you sit against a rounded and protruding root, digging at your nails with your dagger as you watch the IronWood grove twist to the will of Cameera. Vines curl upwards, blooming with unnatural speed as they interlace themselves with the branches. Small flowers burst forth from the vines as they snake through the canopy, unfurling with snapping suddenness. The blooms are tinted green and blue, their depths literally glowing with a soft, pale light. Their scent is nearly intoxicating, a heady perfume that spreads despite the wind. Already, small forest creatures are curiously sniffing closer, drawn to the surge of nature. Hedgehogs and rabbits, weasels and foxes, squirrels and mice all rustle through the undergrowth."The hell is that?"You nearly shout a small, strangely shaped creature pokes its head from a bush, its wide black eyes bright with intelligence. Like a human and a fox were made into one, the creature is covered in a layer of fine fur, its four fingered hands tipped with black claws. It snuffles the air and snorts , scratching its nose and looking side to side. Cameera laughs softly in your mind, brushing aside your shock as she focuses on the oddity. The strange little creature yelps as it suddenly realizes what it has encountered, turning on its heel and fleeing into the Bush with a terrified squeal. As if she can read your mind, which she likely can, Cameera whispers into your thoughts.>"a weak and primitive nature spirit. Barely more than a wisp. Its only recently become physical. It js off to make sure there are no other threats to its territory. When it regains its confidence, it will return and attempt to force me to leave. Its essence should make a nice snack. You look off into the woods where you can spot several other small oddities, a three headed serpent with blue scales, a tortoise with a small tree growing from its shell, a winged yellow humanoid the size of your hand and a small hawk with what looks like leaves for feathers. Gesturing with your dagger, you point out the arrivals."Seems more snacks are showing up"Cameera giggles in your mind, her voice echoing in your skull as her nearly invisible form dances around her quickly growing shrine."Not all of them are foolish enough to contest me. They will accept me as their Mistress and share in my power or they will resist and I will consume them. These young spirits have no knowledge of the old ways, I will have to teach them"You can't help but appreciate the wild cruelty of the Nature Spirit. You gesture with your dagger at a speckled deer that noses its way through the brush, its startling blue eyes overshadowed by the fact that it's antlers are draped in moss and flowers. Snuggling uneasily, it pays you no mind as it steps forward cautiously, sniffing the air and eying Cameera. It advances cautiously as she guides the growth of arching boughs of IronWood, the branches wrapping and spiraling about each other, bound together by the crawling vines and their glowing blossoms."What would happen if I were to kill one of these beasts? Would the Devourer consume it or would you?"Cameera fixes you with a sideways glare as she urges on the IronWoods, giving the slowly approaching deer a small smile."Son of man...If you could even touch them, they would simply fade away into the immaterial, returning once their strength grew again. Mortals cannot harm a spirit unless they are imbued with significant amounts of power or hold a magical weapon. Only the Doom gave both spirits and gods battle and prevailed."She smiles predatorily, her small fangs flinging in the light as she fixes you full on, her eyes slitted like a cats."If any of them are taken as prey, it will be by my hand."You nod to yourself, digging the dagger into the bark of the sturdy tree you sit against. Far above, your griffin pup screeches happily, his shadow flitting across the sun as he chases an unfortunate hawk. You think back to the legends of Vall and his chosen and raise another question to the nature spirit."Ive heard it is possible to consume the essence and power of those who fall by my hand. Vall did so and gained his might through the deaths of thousands"."Tens of thousands..."Cameera flickers into being less than a meter away from you, suddenly solid, her exotic features twisted in indignant fury, having crossed the distance so quickly the ground rippled beneath her feet. Her eyes have become black pools, her fingers tipped with dark talons as she snarls out."Thousands beyond count fell in battle against the Doom of Heaven, even when he was but a man. With the blade of Ruin, he reaped them like summer wheat and supped well on their lives. It was no magic or boon from any spirit or god I know of... It was the *blade*. Forged in secret, made from a fallen star and quenched in divine blood. The blade that felled armies, slew the great serpents of old, cut down the gods themselves... The blade that broke my father like ice and shattered his kingdom... The blade fed the Destroyer and was fed in turn...">Cont
>>2758860>ContCameera flickers away, her green tinted hair blowing in the wind as she idly strokes the muzzle of the deer, the moss and flowers among its antlers blooming, the beast seeming to grow slightly larger as she smile softly. Turning to you, she waves her hand imperiously, her voice echoing through the clearing."Son of man, I must... Apologize for my... Temper... I am weary...I thank you for your aid... I must focus on my efforts here and many of the weaker spirits are fearful of you. I will call on you when I desire your presence once more"Standing, you nod respectfully, sheatbing your dagger. You step back and raise your voice."It was my pleasure to assist you... Cameera. Please, call whenever you require"Turning on your heel, you set off into the valley, hearing your griffin pup soaring overhead, his powerful wingbeats shaking the treetops as he pursues the terrified hawk. From behind you, Cameera's gentle humming and singing echoes through the forest, prompting flowers to sprout, moss to spread and sickly leaves to burst into healthy green. You aren't sure what she will do to the valley itself but from what you've seen and her unbridled joy to be somewhere *alive* again, you don't doubt it will be wonderful.Stepping out into a meadow, the grass reaching knee high to you, rich with wildflowers and clover, your hair is swept back as a wave of air slams into you. A black plumage form drops heavily onto the ground, hooked beak clamped tightly around the limp form of a hawk, blood dripping from the savage maw. Bright, intelligent eyes fix on you as the pup, if it can even be called than anymore, snaps down its prey. You chuckle to yourself as the beast warbles happily, turning his head to accept scratches and pats."Been hunting eh?"You keep your voice low and pleasant, patting the griffin on its head, scratching with nail behind its jaw."Getting bigger aren't you? Ill have to take You with me soon. Get some moonies for you to rip apart. Eh? Sound good? When it fails to reach the treats I'm hoping it'll start whining to Magnus so it build a habit of alerting hunting parties when it's found something and need the help of people for say...opening hidden passages, reaching into hard to reach places. Also add some blood droplet trails. Sometimes bleeding fleeing foes will leave a trail if you had hurt them enough.-Another idea is for Magnus to play hide and seek with the Pup. It's technically playing and training.Attack Skills:-If we're lucky we might be able to find some hyper aggressive predators in the valley for the pup. The Fantasy equivalent of a dog or person sized Mongoose, Honey Bager or Wolverine. Those mother fuckers are aggressive as fuck and don't give a fuck if your a god. In my opinion they're one of the most awesome animals of the animal kingdom.Anyways, the pup needs some prey that'll bite back.-Maybe if Cameera or the villagers don't mind they could provide small animals such as Hares and giant Rats to attack small prey (because he's going to eventually grow to be big enough that it might see humans as the size as rodents when it was a pup).

Black wings folded right against its back, the young griffin prods your thigh with its beak, clacking its jaws and warbling curiously as it searches for snacks. You laugh and bat it away, taking a long stride so it must hurry to keep up, squawking in mock anger as it nips at your boots."Come on! Come on then you big baby! You had planned on doing some training exercises, maybe trapping some hares or using bloody hides to set a trail towards buried or hidden meat. Even searching for some particularly large rodents had been planned. But you had frozen when the young buck had wandered out of the forest. Crouching low, you tapped into that *voice* that Cameera had implanted into your own. With your voice echoing and the griffin pup freezing as it *understood* every word, you extended your hand, pointing at the young buck."Kill it"And with a few powerful wingbeats, the young griffin is airborne. Climbing rapidly, it is quickly a dark spot against the sky, arcing overhead with the speed of a loosed arrow. Black wings fold back into a arrowheads shape as the young griffin extends its claws, smashing into the oblivious buck with a victorious screech. With a agonized squeal of pain, the buck is borne to the ground, claws tearing into its flesh and a hooked beak ripping open its throat in a spurt of gore. You rushed over, being forced to use the voice of the wild again to get the young griffin to back away from its kill. You chew contentedly, watching the griffin crack the bucks skull open like a eggshell, lapping at the splattered brain with happy warbles."That good eh?"You wipe a droplet of blood from your arm and chuckle as the griffin clacks its beak contentedly, swallowing a sizeable portion of the bucks hindquarters whole as if in answer. The beasts are growing quickly, Wrens and Arvels taking to circling the Crag and harassing the rock pigeons and scrawny mountain goats that dwell along the mountainside. You don't much feel like making your way up to the Crag tonight, the steep path a bit more treacherous than you would like to attempt during the night. The huts and shacks themselves are nothing to be impressed by, single roomed homes with a small loft, the window openings left wide to the cool air of the night after the heat of summer. That much muscle amd bone can't creep along unnoticed unless their quarry is a blind and deaf cripple they say. These people are dead wrong and in the past, many have simply been dead, their heads twisted round to look between their shoulder blades. Like a oversized panther, you creep forward on the balls of your feet, rolling your weight down to your heel to prevent even the slightest rustle in the close cropped grass and hard packed dirt surrounding the small homes. Your footsteps are more than drowned out by the jokes and laughter of the villagers and Thralls, the men and women singing and carousing, lauding praise and well wishes on a young man and woman seated side by side, their faces pink from embarrassment amd more than a little excitement. The young man is stocky with the broad shoulders of someone who has spent many hours working in the fields and forests. Short cropped brown hair frames a round face with a large nose set crooked after a bad break. He seems like a stout sort with not much between his ears. The girl with him, only freshly come into womanhood by the look of her, is slender and tall, nearly three inches above the youth even sitting. Long light brown hair is pulled back and braided with wildflowers as she sips from a clay mug, licking beads of some sort of weak liquor from her lips. The young man flushes pink and the girl crimson at a particularly lewd joke from a drunken elder, the old man laughing toothlessly as he slams his mug into the table. You nearly laugh but instead smile softly as you realize whats happened. You've walked into the dinner for a marriage agreement. You smirk at the young mans, little more than a boy, flushed face, regarding the young woman next to him as being solidly out of his league. You aren't sure what deal was made by his parents but one of them must have a silver plated tongue to land him a catch like that. You slowly walk forward, the conversation becoming clear to you bit by bit. A hefty, broadly built man passes a jug of ale across the table to a counterpart, a balding portly fellow with a thick wiry grey beard. The bullish man laughs drunkenly, gesturing to the either newly wed or soon to be wed couple."What d'ye think Heaj? M'boy a match fer ye granddaughter? He may no' be as pretty as th'boys from your village but she's no' kin to 'im at least! Its the same walk you used when hunting to creep forward on the ever alert drags and mountain goats of the valley and mountainside. The Thralls and villagers continue their laughter and chatter, arguments and squabbles breaking out as old issues are revisited and new grudges established.Pythe and the toothless elder from his village both pick up their clay tankards and belt out a slurring, shouting drinking song as the other members of the wedding party laugh and clap along. They gulp from their cups before dashing the clay mugs together, shattering them to pieces. A happy cheer goes up from their side of the table and the opposite side chuckle and nudge each other in seeming amusement at their antics. From what you can see, these are groups of Thralls from differing factions in the valley, likely ex-moonies and Tribals mixed in the pure born crag wolf villages. The more "civilized" villagers are likely bemused by the crude behaviour of the Tribals. With their attention fixed on the cavorting duo, its a easy matter for you to take a empty spot at the end of the long table. A startled inhalation to your left catches your ear and you half turn, chewing slowly as you regard a young child, a boy of less than seven summers. He clutches a carved wooden doll in his hands, a figure clutching a long sword and raising a fist triumphantly. Wide blue eyes regard you carefully as the lad approaches you."Are you a giant?"His voice is filled with the innocent and bold curiosity of a child and you can't help but smirk into your bowl as you pretend to consider the question.
