The rain falls in a pitter patter outside the building, breaking the silence that pervades it as the gnoll matriarch watches your representatives bicker and wheedle, both amongst themselves and to the Tyrant and herself.

Last thread saw the annexation of your longtime rivals Isarn and Reptia, before seeing disunity in your nation and former enemies and allies unite against you; specifically, East Lopen and Lukidor allying. In particular amongst your own national concerns, the gnoll matriarch has traveled north to Ier to dispute the Tribal Confederation's status as Protectorate, which has seen a particular lack in terms of benefits for her people, despite that being the reason her grandmother agreed to becoming one in the beginning. As she has watched disputes slowly overtake the conversation, she interjects as her counterpart and leader slowly loses control.

"Tyrant, if we are to meet here to discuss these issues, I would appreciate it if you kept your subordinates in line. I am the one you are speaking to, and vice versa, as much as they would wish otherwise."
>>
>>2729461
He breaths in and turns his head back to them and speaks sternly.
"Enough of this bickering."

Then he turns back to the Matriarch.
"My apologies, but let us get back to issue at hand. The House of Ivory shall be given the task to teach your people the tactics they have prepared. After that, the Metalars will supply you with the appropriate equipment in line with the tactics. In addition, to compensate you, I shall exempt you from paying the tax for the next decade."
>>
>>2729514
"That is appreciated, then. If all else is settled, we must part, my Tyrant; but I will say this. Be wary of those New Isans... I understand that leaving them alone has left them more of a festering wound than a bandage on the nation."

***

The other major news of the year apart from this meeting comes from Reptia, where documents detailing their seer program are finally finished. While kept quite secret, this was a magic program they had undertaken decades ago, around the same time Ier had figured out the secrets of magical weapons such as staffs. Those who have read about the original experiments may remember that it was figured that the soul was made up of multiple components, and that they had to be input into, say, a wand, with equal measure. The Reptians also knew of these components, but had figured out that one could read these as a sort of "aura" unique to every individual. Disturbingly, in order to accomplish this, they would blind orphans to allow them to visualize the soul better as they underwent training.

Let's not delay this any further.
(Posting for Myno since he is on phone, he wrote up the tactics the gnolls would use)

>General Practices
-The Gnolls will adopt a Blood Day-like event
-Younger Gnolls Will focus largely on building teamwork though objective based games until they are old enough to start proper training.
>Main idea for their fighting force
Gnolls will operate as light infantry and should focus on hit and run attacks or Skirmishing attacks. Attacking the flanks and baiting out enemy forces.
Light Gnolls: Using Spears and bows, they will have limited armour protecting their head and torso. The Light ones will be taught to harass an enemy and to withdraw if they are engaged, if they see cavalry get back to the main formation. their job in the field of war is to scout and begin picking off the enemy.

We will also drill discipline into them, starting with basic things like learning to bathe from time to time and basic formations. Then move onto more advanced stuff.

With this action done, the Matriarch is more or less satisfied, and you are able to focus on other topics. In recent times, it appears some among the Isarnite population are finding themselves a bit more settled as part of the Ieran population, due to similiarity in culture as well as Rok beginning to spread there to some extent.

>Tyranny Cults
Create multiple priesthoods each focused around a particular god. These groups will oversee different religious matters in Ier such as leading of worship, blessing of marriages and other such things. Each cult will have some sort of hierarchy, which may vary between each cult, with an official High Priest role, who is selected by their own cult, who will have the most authority and represent them. Also cult priestesses can vote in government elections.

The Brotherhood of Rok will be made into one and cults to Kaghula and the 6 main Reptian gods will be made.

The law is passed to the disapproval of the vast majority of the Ieran public, as well as the Brotherhood, whose dominance is threatened. Protests have started to break out, and leaders among the opposition in the first few weeks appear to be preparing for riots, with several large families such as the Capans and the Metalars opposing the change as well, if not directly supporting these would-be rebels. However, the annexed population does appear to be a fan of this law, and there has been violence in Ier against Reptian-Ierans due to this.

Players, what will you do? Speak individually. The tyrant may speak for his faction as well as the government.
>>
>>2729818
Call upon the Bloodguard and Bloodriders and order them to restore order by installing martial law. Those who started the riots and unrest, the Capans and Metalars (and anyone else with the exception of the Brotherhood) will be apprehended and imprisoned in Ierok until further notice.

Faction-Wise: The Riverisa shall remain neutral in this time of strife.

While the Metalars and the Capans are in support of the protests, many like the Falzers and the House of Ivory have have instead chosen to isolate themselves, though welcoming those fleeing the violence that appears to be coming. And indeed, it does come; for within a week, the first blood has been spilled. In one of the largest protests, just before the Tyrant's palace, several members of the Bloodguard clash with protestors, leaving several injured and two dead. What's more, according to messengers, both gnolls and arachenians are moving towards Ierok to help put down the unrest, numbering over 10k in total.

Players, Tyrant, what will you do?

Call on every man of Ier to defend against this Tyrant who would use mongrels to quell his people. Seize the Armory and muster an army in the Forge of Thera.

"I do not wish to spill blood over this. Believe me, no Tyrant would want to use force to attack and kill people. I want this unrest to end. This law does not force you to worship anyone. The religion of Rok will still be the predominant religion within Ier. We must unite, not divide ourselves. I wish for this to end with as little bloodshed as possible."

Have the gnolls reinforce the bloodguard and the bloodriders in establishing Martial Law. First at Ierok, then other major cities within Ier where unrest is prevalent.

It appears the Tyrant has called up more gnolls, and while the minorities of the nation are happy about the situation, even they do not favor gnolls, especially the Isarnites. As some of their number begin their own protests, and families like the Falzers make moves towards independence (something overlooked in the chaos), the Concord meets for a vote of no-confidence on the Tyrant.

How do you vote, Founders of Ier?
>>
>>2730099
"I vote against the current Tyrant. May Rok crush him in his sleep."
>>
>>2730099
"Tyrant Boris numerous times I've offered advice on how to proceed so events would play out smoothly and you've ignored it. Now the situation has gotten out of hand and I call for you to stand down peacefully. If you truly care about the Tyranny you will do so."

Also with this messenger are turtles to all the concord members as a gifts of goodwill, with a particular turtle drapped in a toga and named Mill given to the Capans.
>>
>>2730099
“I vote against the Tyrant. May Rok deliver 1000 boulders upon his grandmother.”
>>
By a slim majority of 16:4, the Tyrant's reign is ended with a vote of no-confidence. The gnolls, so close to their destination, turned around, as do the spiders, and as the Tyrant removed his things from the palace, one thing dominates his mind as well as that of most of Ier; who will be the one to lead the nation forward? Only time could tell, at this point.

SESSION END
>>
While the issue of Tyranny is cast upon the concord, Olus shall gather the dispossessed sons of former Reptians nobility. Together we shall form a Senate with myself at the head as Dictator. We shall form a new government which will represent and serve the people of this land more fairly than those hateful people in Ierok ever did. We shall make a new state, one which will achiece greatness that others elsewhere and in the past could not.

>Description
A broad man, adorned in Ierian outfits, a thick furred shroud over his shoulders, his body adorned in strange scars and a more subdued form of the Paint worn by his clan. At his side a Volcanite Khopesh and a strange blade, one of the ones from the Isarn War... walking either side of him a pair of large Dingo covered in similar scars and Paint...His Violet eyes piercing and looking across the crowd.

“Ierok is divided, Ghoul against Ghoul. It is time we put a number of matters to rest. Ierok conquered or occupied all the lands of the tyranny, we did not do it by bending to the will of outsiders or talking in secret within dark rooms, we acted.
Enough of humouring the weak gods whom let their people fall, enough of the pitiful ways that fell beneath us. Those of you who joined us, do you not seek Strength? Security? Purpose? The tyranny will give you all of these.”
The Ghoul looks across the crowd getting a measure of those present, his voice now starting low before rising to a bellow
“Reptia, Isarn these places are no more, there is a greater change on the winds, not a Light from above but the march of tens of thousands of feet in time and the roaring thunder of clamouring shields! Ierok rose from the Ashlands and remnants of the Old ways and forged a new path. Now there is only Ierok, together we are all Ierians, together unified under metal, fire and blood we will break the Cycles of the Lopan, topple those who seek to divide us in Lukidor and build a grand future together!”
>How do we unify the divided population
Ierok conquered the lands of all present here, their gods did not help them, their generals failed their machinations undone by the might of Ierok, rather than clinging to the past we will encourage all to become like us, strong, united and unbroken! Those who still cling to their old, fallen ways will be shown the error of their ways as their families wither and die with those old belief while those whom embraced their new lot will flourish and leave them behind!

>What about Lukidor and the Eastern Lopan bruh?
Lukidor was said to once be the homeland of all Isa, maybe in time we will return in glory. But for now we must secure our positions and show our might to those nations upon our boarders so they will know not to cross us, rather they will know when we outstretch our hand they will take it and join us in glory for they know, to knock away our hand is get next be greeted by a fist!

>Personal Goals
Our lands are vast, a testament to our people's might! Now we will work, til and build upon these lands so that our nation might grow more powerful still and all whom gaze upon our lands will be filled with awe and envy. Great public works bringing civilisation to the far reaches of our domain.

>Vaneed Threat?
Death, they will meet death if they encroach on our lands, if even for a moment if they cross the line we will kill all we can reach with spear and arrow. They may seek our guidance of those wise outsiders should but time will tell of their...wisdom.

Sebak Gaeran
Age 37

Blood worship
Sebak is the son of the veteran Soldier Eorei. He wishes to follow many of the ideas of his father and focus on creating a better nation for the citizens of tommarow.

Goal is a Smooth and proper transition of the new territories into the tyranny, along with a return to stability.

To handle the unrest among the various unrest and avoid upheavals among said cultures is to focus on infrastructure and Institution building to improve the lives of all citizens of the tyranny. I’ll avoid interfering with their cultures outside of vital matters and give them time to adjust to living within the tyranny.

In regards to the alliance rising on the nearby land mass. That issue has happened because of rampant expansionism which I will cease so we can focus on building a well functioning nation. So long as the Eastern lopeni and lukidor do not make any hostile moves against us I I’ll not make any against them in turn.

As for the previous tyrants mistakes. I will take into consideration more closely the information we have to ensure the best choice is made for the tyranny.

The Eastern lopen lukidor alliance is a result of rampant expansion on our part and so long as they do not threaten us our allies or our protectorates I will move for a more peaceful stance to let things stabilize. Should they act aggressively against our sphere I will try to descalate the situation and should that fail move to protect those in ier and its network of states it shares close/ friendly ties with.

>Ensuring current alliances and Protectorates remain the same
One of the failings of the last Tyrant was he did not reward the wisdom of our Protectorates, they have seen it is better to stand with us by our sides as comrades in arms than against us. We will see that they become strong to stand by our side, i will see to the construction of numerous military academies and the expansion of our own so that they might learn how to fight not like simple warriors, but Conquerors! We will see your lives changed for the better under the leadership of Ierok

>How to keep our dignity after this disposal of the Tyrant
Dignity? where would be our dignity if we did not act, thrown to the wind because strong men refused to put their vote forward to stand against something they believed in their Ierian hearts to be wrong! That is what it means to be Ierian! To make your will known and to act upon it. There is no loss of Dignity when doing what you must for your nation and people!

>How to subjugate foreign cultures without upheaval
A wild beast must first be broken to achieve its true potential, we we broken and lost int he Ashlands but we built ourselves up again stronger than ever. Those beyond our borders will face a test in us, a test of their worth! Should they fall before us in our conquests then it is proof enough their gods have not saved them? it is proof enough that their way is inferior to our own? We shall educate, train and discipline them, forging them into something magnificent. Those whom resist to the very end? Well they have dared oppose us and will be met with death lest their weakness spread.

>How to deal with the Eastern Lopan and Lukidor in the meantime
They fear us, as they should, but we know they have their strengths and are not some feeble thing. No we will strengthen our forces and borders and in time we will offer our hand to them...what happens next will be up to them...
>>
While neither candidate from the Founders could claim to have truly grasped the nationalism that rejected the previous Tyrant, no other candidate succeeded either. However, with his policy (seemingly) of Ieranization rather than non-interfence, Ósoisa Dayr wins slimly; after all, on many issues, neither candidate differed greatly in opinion.

As for the matter of the secession of the Falzers, nothing has been done, but outside of a small group of Reptians, they have no real subject population, leaving them toothless compared to the Ieran state. As the rogue Falzers demand a meeting with the Tyrant to negotiate on the current situation, Tyrant Ósoisa instead elects to send an emissary: Sebak Gaeran, the Tyrant's rival at the polls. Perhaps it is a show of good faith to Sebak, or an insult to Olus Falzer, leader of the secessionists. Either way, as Sebak and 6 guards sit outside the southwest staircase, they watch Olus and his own men descend. While there are Bloodguard scattered about to prevent food shipments, if an incident was to happen, Falzer's larger party could easily kill off the 7 Ierans, but at what cost? As they finally reach the bottom, they approach the meeting place, where chairs and a table have been prepared for them, along with some simple provisions, such as water and fruit. Of course, Falzer will speak first, a demand he insisted upon.

Olus, what say you?
>>
>>2743862
“Greatings countryman. I understand that you are here on behalf of the recent tyrant Osoisa. I know there’s a fuss in Ierok about what I’m doing here but I assure you it is with the best intentions for all parties. I seek to form an Independent Reptian State so that the people here are content and do not cause friction in greater Ier which caused Boris to be overthrown. This new state will seperate but still subservient to Ier, as a protectorate or client state under my rule. Hopefully that way Ier still gains and while the people remain content.”
>>
>>2743873
"Good intentions they may be Falzer. We went through much to bring Reptia into the fold and work to integrate it. Changing course now changes nothing for the better. Which is why I'm asking you and your fellows to stand down."
>>
>>2743878
“And have more inner conflict take hold in the nation of Ier? We both witnessed the troubles caused the bringing together of different cultulres Halftwig cursed us with. Ghouls killing Ghouls, martial law declared, the tyrant calling forgien troops on his own people. It’s clear that these people can not peacefully co-exist but what I’m trying to do here is satisfy both parties and reach a compromise. Reptia can be a new client state still trading, aiding and giving material to Ier. I will swear an oath by Blood and under Rok that I will act to serve the interests of the Tyranny as ruler here. If I do not then take all of my possesions, kill me and enslabe my family.”
>>
>>2743908
"Falzer.......Let us speak truthfully. Reptia is not in support of this. You are outnumbered and surrounded. There is no resupply coming into this fort. I am perhaps your best bet getting out of this in more then a bunch of bloody pieces compared to the others who could have been sent. Be smart and let us talk about ending this farce."
>>
>>2743917
“I have waved no dagger at you nor anyone else, all I seek is peace and fairness. I offer the highest of oaths to swear friendship but you do not take it. If you wish to not reach a peaceful amends then so be.”
>>
>>2743927
But dost thou bite your thumb good sir?
>>
>>2743927
"You are not making peaceful amends either. By defying the Tyranny to make your own little realm and rejecting my peace offers your merely showing yourself as incredibly foolish. I will offer this deal before I leave. You will all pay fines for the attempt and the ringleader will face the lash. If you reject my offer then I cannot guarantee your survival when we either starve you out or storm the fortress."

"Please see reason here."
>>
>>2743932
“If this is the fate of us then so be. I will go back as I was before this interruption and continue my watchings of local birds.”
>>
Sebak leaves with no deal, but left unharmed... however, the same cannot be said for the fort. As a messenger is caught attempting to bring a message to the Lukidor, one which ostensibly states that in exchange for supplies Olus is willing to become a vassal, the Tyrant moves forward with breaking into Moundtown, which has already become a grave for several succumbed to hunger, though their corpses are obviously not left untouched. As they stay in a prison cell, the Tyrant is still making his mind up as to what should be done with the traitors.

In other news, the Ringborn raiders who have hit human shores in the past few decades have found it profitable, and as such it is becoming increasingly common to see traders switch professions to take raiding up instead. These men are being called swindlers by the humans, a phrase in that language which most closely sounds like the following: Ashada. Apart from the Ashada, there also happenings on Wolf Island, the home of the Nakh and the Lukidor. There, the introduction of volcanite weapons by the Metalar family has seen conflicts between the three main groups of Nakh, the largest of which is coming under threat. This is particularly significant as that group is closely allied to the Lukidor.

(Just for clarification as to why phasing is being brought up https://pastebin.com/B44RSQMf). The highest level fire mages are quite capable of phasing, and with the right anatomical training, should be able to complete delicate operations, especially as another trait of fire on flesh is cauterization of wounds and killing bacteria. As such, the College of Magi in collaboration with herbalists and healers is completing studies on how to integrate the two subjects, with the hope of bringing advancements in the surgical field. On the topic of heat, summer has begun, bringing with it rain and humidity.

With domes having been a recent architectural innovation of past years, a grand museum is founded in Ierok, where the personal collections of the rich and famous will lend out artifacts, and the state will collect artifacts of significance itself. In the meantime, the leaders of the rebellion have been put on stakes, the children of the family divided, and those who remained loyal to remain allowed to stay under the Falzer name, though it remains thoroughly disgraced.

Faction Project
Difficulty: Normal
(As I've said before, you should probably just say you're experimenting with one thing and I'll give you an idea of its properties/properties of whatever else is involved). The jocand tongue indeed appears to have an aphrodisiacal effect, resulting in something akin to a wet dream potion with the hallucinogenic and alcohol when heated with water. The other combinations do not have similar effects. The Dhobble head has nothing noteworthy associated with it (dhobbles being strange, humanoid creatures found in the ashlands to the north) and the bug-snake (found in Tribal lands) is similar. That, or the pieces are contaminated... looking at the dust, blood, and dirt all over them, you think it might be that.

Personal Project
Difficulty: Normal
Nothing happens, other than his body being put into a state of "blood rush" while he hallucinates.

Faction Project
Difficulty: Normal
By building small training grounds you enable easier training of younglings, also allowing them to practice on Bloodday in a more centralized spot. This increases your influence by a bit, as well as just generally being seen as a good deed.

Personal Project
Difficulty: Normal
Your inquiries lead you to the fact that while there is no faith of the river, the belief in the divinity of the Jungle is still strong within Ier. Having spread from the Isans several decades prior, Kaghula, the Mother of the Jungle, is worshipped along with Rok in many households, though merely as a figure related to him, with him acting as the central figure. Purists of both the blood and Rok himself do not tend to see her in such a divine light, however, just as a holdover of the old empire which they believe should fade away. However, there is also a small section who worship her entirely, and according to them, she is not sister or mother or anything of Rok, nor something of the blood; she is a being that in the past was related to the line of emperors who ruled in the old days. That line, however, has been lost to time, if it even still exists.

>>2744160
>>2744185
Faction Project 1 + 4
Difficulty: Very Hard
Though rebuilding many of these destroyed structures without a blueprint or any visual whatsover is near impossible, you and your small team work like men possessed, slowly rebuilding a small section of the capital as the Isans nearby grow not only to respect you for your cause, but to praise you for it. This is the first restoration that area had ever seen, and they had never thought to attempt it, but your efforts have seen even them pitch in to help because of that. By the end of the decade, you have reconstructed several buildings, as well as adding a few of your own in.

Personal Project
Difficulty: Normal
You are so devoted to rebuilding that you just end up forgetting to do this.

Faction Project 2
You manage to get quite a few people more to join you, with them starting a fund for this project.

Faction Project 3
You get pitch, and a lot of it. It's gonna be huge! Many such cases.

Northern Isarn, in a rare message to other states, has stated that the dhobbles in the ashlands of the north come from the human lands, and that the parasite is the fault of Ringborn raids. The Ringborn, for their part, have not responded. Down south, the Tribal training program appears to be going well, with the expectation that their armies should be approaching a decent (Ieran) standard within the next few years.

But at the same time, a few questions; where will the college be placed? More importantly, how will it be structured?
>>
>>2744395
Forget about this college. we should upgrade the defenses of our major urban centers throughout Ier that have been untouched for so long.
>>
>>2744395
Isan proposes to host the College in one of the cleared out Structures of the Capital of Isan, which Isan Internationals will be happy to donate. This college (or whatever word deemed appropiate) will dedicate itself to the study of the old nation and how to utilize these old world strategies and mistakes into the new empire.

Isan Internationals agrees to fund it, so long as this charity will be repaid by the Tyranny at a later time.

The hope is this college will further our societies abillity to Tech Advance, instead of our usual strategy which appears to be asking

We hope that this practical study will help further the cause of scientific advancement, as the hurdles of the monumental task of rebuilding will result in practical solutions.

Falzers have proposed that we set it up in Ierok and design it to study fads and popular slogans and worship a giant frog.

Other proposals are available.

>>
>>2744533
"Great idea! I still propose its in Isan however because we still have a lot of empty buildings.

I'm going to remind you all that the reason schools ain't wide spread is because everyone is needed to hunt and farm especially at a young age to pick up their families trades, then the middle age ones do most of the work

While that bit of news is sent out to the unaware island nations, a meeting is held in Ierok around halfway through the year, specifically in the Concord Hall. "Yes we are," both say in unison.

While both are exceedingly plain (at least, in how you envision human stock), their olive skin and brown hair set them apart from you all. But it is their actions that seperate them the most from you as many Founders look on, unimpressed, or unconvinced, though it is fair to say quite a few show shock and awe. They act almost symmetrically.

"One could say that occupy both bodies, says Dagh," the female states, emotions not shown on her face.

"Or that our souls are the same. However, we thought we were finally dead. The fault of... Khop, was it?" adds the man, presumably also Dagh.

"It is a long story, but we can speak to it if wished. There is no need to worry about your cruel founder, however. Ours is a special case," Thera says.

"If you need proof, then our story is what you will need," both affirm.

>>
>>2748334
"We are us," they simply confirm, "though these bodies were taken from others."

As they begin to tell their tale, they take a seat on empty chairs prepared for them. The atmosphere is not tense, but it is weird, and as the voice of the body Dagh occupies begins to cut through it, it almost seems to amplify.

"The relevant information starts with us leaving Reptia. I had finished my duty there, and was exhausted with the greed I had seen many take after the nation had finally begun to grow. I had worked for years for peace, and yet the conflict between men always rose to the surface. I was done. However peaceful I was in the past, I could not handle this anymore, and so I walked away. I was merely lucky my wife joined me," he finishes somberly.

Thera continues where he left off. "We went to a place we knew of in our youth, somewhere untouched by the devastation. The oasis, which we believe now lies within your territory. There, we left our bodies entombed, and did what we had learned from a friend recently departed. We let our soul leave our bodies, and became one with the earth and the flame, both the ground and the volcanoes scattered around the ashlands."

"We could not die even then," Dagh admits. "Our souls were too tainted by the Light. But we kept our rings with us, as we knew to let them go would be to invite two new beings to suffer eternally with us. But in the cave, we knew peace, and as our elements mixed in the earth, Thera's mixed with metals found in the ground, and overpowered them, and my own did the same when meeting hers. Our souls, warped already, joined together, and we lived there in half-death, not able to truly leave our bodies, but at one with all around us."

"There were sometimes movements outside the cave, and one in particular involved a young ghoul, who we believe is called Khop by your historians. In his grief, having seen his father's dead body, he entered the cave, wishing for death. He was not granted that, and by some strange power, he took part of Dagh's soul, and a tiny part of mine. This was enough to kill us, or as close as we could come."

"Or so we thought. We could still feel those parts of our soul, which we truly found out as another being joined us. I cannot say what it was, but four partial souls in one body broke that ghoul, the unknown individual, and in some way, us. I remember begging for death, though it might have been any of the four of us saying those words, and then meeting silence. It made me contemplate very much, including the sanctity of life. I was wrong to have walked away and abandoned my ideals, and as we lay undisturbed below the rocks, I realized this."

"Yet at the same time," Thera adds, "we were not undisturbed. The metal in which we lay was being used, though we did not know how. No senses, after all. Then we awoke, meeting Karal, and he has told us of what has happened since our self-imposed enclosure."

They depart on that.

***

Other news includes the fact that the islands have bowed their head to Ier and are paying their dues, and the fact that the Reptians, having heard the news about their founders, are now split into two camps, with one more willing to accept Ieran supremacy at this point. The others believe the story to be a lie, though it seems Isarnites and Ierans are both more accepting of the issue. Knowing the oddity that was their mutual founder, it appears that once again, the Isarnites are the more settled population.

War chariots are developed for a rider and warrior, though their effectiveness is limited with a still small horse population. In time, however, this may prove to be quite the effective tool. Seeming to follow the subjugation of the islands, Northern Isarn has begun to pay protectorate fees to Ier, and has approached the Tyrant asking for such a deal.

The Ieran Heartland is passed, to significant protest among the Reptians. While Isarnites, having already begun to build a new capital as their own was destroyed, are not upset, the Reptian minority is in fact being supported by Dagh and Thera in this particular protest. The issue raised is that by forcing Moundtown, a creation of Dagh specifically for the Reptian people to be turned into a fort, much of Reptia's history has been erased, and furthermore, it has left them without a major city of industry such as artisans or forges or whatever else. As there has been no violence, a small group of Ierans do understand their concerns.

Larger shields are brought into use, though not every shield is able to be reinforced as glowrok mining has slowed in recent years. The Reptians split on the issue of whether the founders are real appear to have more or less accepted Dagh and Thera as a result of the protests, which while having stopped, appear to be a part of a larger issue. There is also word from the Isans, that, confirming what the gnoll matriarch had said several years ago, the New Isans are Ierans in name only, and choose not to interact with any other groups in their area.

After much debate, a few random people wandering into the Concord Hall yelling about their opinions, and an attempted stabbing, it is decided that only model citizens may enter Moundtown, and at the moment, that is only a few hundred individuals. This compromise satisfies no one but the protests are gone and Dagh and Thera return to Ierok, with their Ring selves following, in bodies similarly "possessed" just as Dagh and Thera possessed humans. The originals reveal a bit of information about glowrok as well; it is tied to a strange power Gwanraw had. He was capable of draining souls to invigorate his own... the remains of those souls seeped into the surrounding caves where he performed his gruesome work, leaving naught but bones and glowrok behind. Why he did it, they say, is simple; attaining as much power as possible, to figure out what was behind the Light, and the pillars themselves.

The study of the stars has allowed for further cataloging of clusters of light, both allowing for the vague mapping of proposed civilizations, but also those of potential landmasses. On top of that, the nature of the sun itself is being brought into question, especially by the realization, both by seers and other mages, that mana flows upwards from the pillar towards it. Those enscribed with the pillar rune similarly have their mana flow upwards, dying in the process. The season is turning at the moment, as well, to fall.

With more people numerate than literate, your mathematical system has developed nicely, covering not just arithmetic now, but also the basics of algebra, as well as the Pythagorean theorem. Befitting your role as a major trade power, this has set you ahead of other nations, and it benefits your traders greatly. However, interestingly, symmetry and such is still ignored in design, with the system of metrics used to measure things not being applied in measuring distance, which is still based in relative statements, such as foot lengths, table heights, etc. This has made Ieran architecture often eclectic and bizarre-looking, but also functional.

In essence, at the end of the year, government oversaw banks may be allowed to run, while the central bank is founded. Adding onto that, Northern Isarn is receiving training for their now accepted protectorate status.

The pillar, unlike these matters, however, is in a state of flux. As people approached this time, they noticed that the area around the pillar, as opposed to the devastation they had seen, was living... no, flourishing. While no direct interaction with the pillar has occurred yet, the gnolls have been changed, and test subjects, many mages, are arriving. However, one more disturbing thing was noted by the seers there...

The River Pillar appears to have a soul inside it, and a massive one at that.

Another day another roll on the Isan Reclamation Project
>>
Putting aside the fact that I need to answer these projects and write about the event, I thought given how busy the threads can be sometimes, and the fact the civ is now a little over a year old, an event may be in order. So, enjoy.

In Taerok, towards the docks, people are gathering; not just ghouls, but arachenians, giants, and even a few underfolk and humans, all brought here for the yearly celebration towards the middle of the year. The Festival of the Serpent, a week of celebrations, is held in the hearts of many not just as a day of celebration but one of forgiveness, where the sins the first half of the year have brought are let go, to refresh the spirit for the latter half of the year. After all, this Festival celebrates the Serpent of Lake Larope, a beast who in the past Ierans had hunted on several occasions. Yet, when this festival was founded, the creature forgave those hunters and all Ierans, as sacrifices and such were given to him. However, belly dancers and incense aside, this year's celebration is particularly special. The arachenians, specifically the Ieran protectorate known as the Council, have been in communion with the great wyrm, and have convinced him, for this year, to speak to those gathered. The beast, documented since before the Light, has lived here for untold years, and his wisdom has seen all types flock to Taerok, the chosen meeting place. Of course, he is not alone, for other speakers include Thera and Dagh, as well as their duplicate "selves" seemed to be contained in their rings, along with the ring self of another Ringbearer, Azhir. In this manner, more important pre-Light figures are gathered here than perhaps ever since the event itself, and the numbers coming to Ier for the event has intensified due to that.

However, that is to begin on the eve of the last day; until then, people are free to see the area around the lake and interact with those they would normally not speak to. Almost all nationalities are represented here, including diplomats from the new Protectorates. Even men from the lands of the Lukidor and East Lopen have shown their faces, figures who would otherwise be regarded as enemies. And while there is a sense of tension, that same spirit of forgiveness that pervades this festival makes it bearable.

That being said, what do you spend your time doing the first few days?

>>2756249
While they are out and about, you don't really get a chance to speak to them, apart from Dagh. He speaks a bit about it, delving into the focus of stone in the capital, and a preoccupation on beauty over purpose. It seems architecture was at a similar level to your own, with simplistic designs being preferred by builders, though built with better an idea of dimensions than, say, Ierok, as Ieran builders don't delve heavily into measurements unless it is very important (ie, an arch or something that needs precision).

>>2756252
You spend some time among the humans, having some familiarity with the language due to your slaves. It appears that those here are from the Liberation Army, which having consolidated its power as the Liberated Free State has pursued a policy of aggressive annihilation of those opposing its work within its control. While this has yet to spawn rebels against the State, which claims to believe in a form of permanent revolution until all human city states are free of tyranny (ie, conquered), there are cities north of the vast desert that most ghouls believe the human lands to be still in opposition. They have come to see these lands and seek advice from those willing to help, believing that a negotiation between the raiders and would-be rebels could see both benefit. You also meet some among the East Lopen and Lukidor, who appear mostly here to see the sights. Of course, there are no gnolls among them. Some Ringborn also mingle about, having their first real look at another ghoulish state. Those from the Isarnite Archipelago are among those most impressed, though you imagine they have never really seen land this size to begin with.

>>2756265
The diplomats here tell you much the same as Gaeral found, but they know nothing of your lands, and find it strange that you even asked.

The Arachenians came due to the ties between the Protectorates, as well as the fact that, being on the lake, they do trade with Taerok regularly. Such a celebration, on this kind of scale, they would not wish to miss. A bit more politically, as the Council is acting as the translator for the serpent, the Stingers have sent people to make sure they are not the only arachenians there. The East Lopenei and Lukidor... well they're just there for the celebration. They do not appear to have sent diplomats, but you imagine a few of them present are being paid by the state to hear what these important figures have to say.

>>2756278
You do as you will, encouraged by the fact that during such a large event, it's hardly like the Tyrant, a Painted himself, would stop his own men from doing something so harmless as handing out talismans and food. You also note the lack of Lukidor and East Lopen diplomats though.

>>2756281
The humans do not seem to care all that much, just as ghouls seem not to care about their politics. Some do seem quite intimidated though, and you wonder just what the Ringborn have been doing up there... before remembering your own clan's investments in those raids, and the amount of human slaves you have.

>>2756291
It appears very few are stupid enough to buy into your plot, and in fact, an Enforcer (of course, a Capan) pulls you aside and tells you to stop advertising with false promises. As such, you become merely another merchant, except one with no lure and lower quality goods.

>>2756326
While the other gamblers are similarly mediocre, they are a step or two above you, and as a result, by the end of the night, while Aultok has not been squeezed dry, he does feel the lost weight in his coin pocket.

>>2756322
Seeing as the Ash Walkers are already selling high quality weed, yours ends up selling less well.

***

With the first half of the week over, people seem more at ease with each other, something definitely helped by the efforts of the Tyrant, and incdentally, the merchants, who indiscrimately sell their poor products to hapless passerby. Of course, there is a tendency for cultures to stick together, and nowhere is that more obvious than among the ghouls, especially those of Ier. However, with the second half of the week coming, perhaps there is a chance for people to loosen up still.

What do you do during the latter half of the week? (Remember to roll if your action is not just talking.)

A higher-up within the government is present when you go to the bar to talk to the same group as before, and identifying himself as Samudh, he tells you what you want to know as the others pitch in. They appear a bit nervous in front of him, and you can understand why; while he speaks of the rebels, his dark eyes show no real concern with their plight, and for all they and you know, he may be a double agent. Drinking just a little, he tells you that in the beginning, slightly before he had joined up, the rebels were just there to oppose the enemy they saw in the city-states, willing to fight onwards regardless of the risk it put on their nation. In particular, the men of those cities were consistently put out to war regardless of condition, both of them and their surroundings. Thus, those that survived and returned often came back speaking of revolution, and as veterans, they had positions that they could exploit to take action. However, as the movement grew, the figureheads began to change, and one city-state, called Wasul, in particular began to "support" the movement. Now, he says, it's completely dominated by them, and while they pretend to be for all, they're only concerned with gaining more power for Wasul. The style of governance doesn't even differ all that greatly, outside of rewarding informants and keeping an enormous base of "security officials" (really the rebel veterans of the conquering of the south) to maintain the status quo. Of course, veterans act as veterans, and as such the police form more of a pseudo-military than anything else.

>>2756377
>>2756375
>>2756397
Though the Tyrant mingles, something more important soon springs up as his bodyguard receives an alert from a government official among the crowd. A great number of people have been seeking medical aid. After an hour's investigation, during which Sebak falls greatly ill, the cause is found; it appears a Navigator has been intentionally poisoning the dishes prepared by people, and not just those made by the Navigators, but also others, like the Painted themselves.

Tyrant, what will you do?
>>
>>2756433
Bring those involved over, we shall have a little experiment, the Tyrant shall bring the accused before the immortals in private.

"Tell me thera, Dagh, Azhir what would you do to these peopke? I have my own ideas but im curious to hear what you would say?"
>>
(Minor correction; faction name is the Lost Ones, not the Navigators. Whoops.)

>>2756451
"Feed the man to the snake."

"Agreed."

"Yesh."

It appears the immortals have made their mind up, and when one among the crowd hears their statements, he begins to shout, until a cry begins to resonate among the crowd.

"Feed him! Feed him! Feed him!"

...Tyrant?

The spectacle is rather disappointing, as the offender is shot into the sky by several air mages, and straight into the beast's gullet. Hopefully he wasn't carrying any remaining drugs.

***

The evening has approached, and with it, the time for discussion with the beast. While his dimensions are not exactly known, the head of the creature is perhaps a little under one and a half meters tall, two meters wide, and, a bit more than that in total length. Its color, a blue-grey, almost mixes into the grey-green haze of nightfall. And yet, despite the awe it inspires, this beast is deigning to speak to you all. A shiver runs through the crowd by the docks, where a large stone platform has been made for it to rest its head, with wooden platforms next to it clearly meant for the Ringbearers and the Ring selves, alongside the Council's translators for the serpent. Here is where you will stay for the next few hours, and if lucky, have your question answered...

The Tyrant, with a smile on his face, speaks only once before you start, with smaller structures meant for those asking questions, people already beginning to line up, or in the paid areas (the government never one to miss an opportunity to make money, especially as winter approaches), waiting to ask the first few questions to these people.

Tyrant, what say you?
>>
>>2756542
What is your name lake keeper, for so long we have wanted to address you properly
>>
A sound akin to air escaping an old tomb plays out as the beast opens its mouth, vocal chords raspy, almost certainly from a lack of use.

The arachenian deemed as his translator for the beginning of the night speaks solemnly.

"I believe I was once called Vanhur."

Upon hearing that, the Tyrant's smile grows broader as he begins to close the beast's entrance.

"Brothers and sisters, we are gathered here in Taerok not just to pay respect but to hear knowledge that otherwise would have been long forgotten. If you care not for any of these figures I do not care, but their wisdom is that of an age before ours. I would have you remember that."

With that, the questions begin.
>>
>>2756580
"What's your favorite food!"
>>
>>2756580
"How long have you resided here Great Serpent?"
>>
>>2756580

>>
>>2756584
"S-small ghouls," stammers the arachenian. Can beasts like this laugh? If so, the serpent appears to be trying.

>>2756591
"Before this land was home to anyone but me."

>>2756595
"Perhaps, once. I cannot remember. My cousins on land outlasted my kind."

Someone in line asks him who the first to meet him where.

"Humans. Do not know their name though."

>>2756610
"They fed me, often. I was not worshipped, but I was loved."

>>2756613
"Probably several. I do not know what that is though."

>>2756615
"Is that what they call this now? No... my place was always here."

Another question comes from the crowd, this one asking if he ever had a mate. Vanhur grumbles at this.

"Yes. They are long dead, as are my spawn, and their spawn."

Any more questions for him?
>>
>>2756627
"Who are your cousins on land?"
>>
>>2756627
“Do you think Ghouls should rule the world?”
>>
>>2756627

"Snake. Do you recall what our youth was like? We'd like to know." A mapmaker steps forward to ask.
>>
>>2756627
“Do you remember the Light? And what transpired, during or after?”
>>
>>2756627
Have you ever met a ghoul named Ier.
>>
>>2756627
"Do you have any plans for the future?"
>>
>>2756636
After the question is translated to him, the snake puts his one eye on you, before speaking.

"Snakes. Who else?"

>>2756637
"Everybody wants to rule the world, but nothing ever lasts forever."

>>2756638
"Sleep."

>>2756641
"This jungle was smaller. It felt everything was. In the time since, it almost seems as if the world has evolved, if such a thing was possible."

>>2756650
"The first seemed to give this body its eternal life, and killed much in this lake. The second... I remember the screaming. After that, none came to visit."

>>2756652
"Yes. He was like me, but he was a shade in the sunlight. I have been told what happened to him, but if you ask me, his fate was much worse than yours. I feel the pain of age as much as he must have, but he too carried the burdens of other sentient things, thousands of them."

>>2756653
"I cannot travel, but I do not mind. Sunbathe, then, and die."

One last question is asked of him before his session is ended; what was the strangest thing he had ever seen? The snake thinks for a few minutes before answering this one.

"There was once a ghoul hunter who chased a snake that was also a bird that was also many other things, after the first Light. That may have been a dream, though."

***

Now onto the elementals. For this portion, you all have been asked to be clear on who you're asking the question of, though, judging by the inebriated state of a portion of the crowd, that may be forgotten by some.

What do you ask them?

The Tyrant actually has a question for Dagh.
"When we met in the Concord you mentioned that you would not remove your rings to create the doubles...Yet here they are now...What happened to make you do this?" The Tyrants words seem measured, in his own mind...Something is off
>>
>>2756693
The Ringbearer grins, while the ring self looks admittedly less calm.

"It was missing a good leader. Wonder where they could have been."

>>2756700
"Olus was a fool," answers Thera, and they all seem to nod. "To try and inspire people around you who you have subjugated and kicked out of their home seems like a desperate attempt to gain power, no matter how you frame it."

>>2756708
"None of us have any problem with them, the ring self Thera explains. "While it was rare for ghouls and gnolls to interact, we did have gnollish friends, and two Ringbearers, if they live, are gnolls. All were allowed in the capital, Isakh." They all seem to agree on that.

>>2756710
"10 of us," states the original Dagh. "Myself, Thera, Gwanraw, Ier, Vade, and Zalokhash are those you know, correct? The four remaining... Yawdak the gnoll, Lamnüm, another gnoll, Azak, a giant... and Nezh, a ghoul."

>>2756714
Dagh shakes his head before glaring at Toren.

"I am her cousin, you imbecile. I care not what interactions she had with the rest of you but asking me that is misguided, if not downright cold, considering I care for her more than some people who have never met her."
>>

>>
>>2756774
"What are each of your plans? Is there some kind of overarching goal for any of you?"
>>
>>2756719
"The pillars are not our subject of expertise," admits Dagh. "Azhir, if you would."

In a body nearing old age, the thus far silent ring self speaks with a slight lisp on his "s" 's, but it is not so bad you cannot understand him.

"Pillars are a construction that you understand at this point about as much as the empire did when it fell. Magic was not admittedly our forte, but we had our own "Seers", and they saw the soul of the pillar as you did. However, interfering with them was always considered a bad idea. There were many disasters recorded due to that. As for two souls in one body, I am living proof this is possible, though my compatriots are just dominating the other souls in their bodies. As proof..."

He seems to hunch down for a moment before coming to his senses.

"W-where am I?"

As one of those on stage explains, he speaks.

"Right. I am Rhaega, a member of the Painted."

>>2756741
"We didn't," mutters Dagh, looking a bit upset. "But that's not our story."

The ring selves of both Dagh and Thera explain; it appears that those of the Metalar line removed the rings without knowing of the consequences. They ended up killing the man responsible, but it was too late. They could not return to how it was, the door already being opened.

>>2756787
>>2756809
"Can someone get him out of here?" asks the ring self Dagh. His patience is clearly thinning.

>>2756799
"Wonderful, but you're going to need centuries to do it," answers Thera.

>>2756810
"Find my cousin, live in Ier and help out with whatever we can, and live as peacefully as we can," Dagh says to this question. "I think I speak for all of us when we say we are tired of conflict and a search for a home. However, research also needs to be done. If whatever floats above our heads can do that to the world twice, it could happen again."

The crowd mutters their assent to that last statement.

Any last questions?
>>
"Well then do you not mind helping?"
>>

>>
>>2756849
Ter slaps the back of Torens head, herself blushing at the immortals answer. Ter speaks up, "My apologies for my granddaughters loud mouth. My clan has been searching for her for quite a while. For without her gracious gift, we surely would never been able to thrive. I shall let you know if we learn anything of her whereabouts."

((POSTING FOR NAUST))
>>
>>2756858
"I could help," Dagh states, "But I don't know if I want to disturb the dead. Rebuilding the past isn't necessarily a good thing, though you may be able to sway me otherwise."

>>2756860
They all consider this for a bit.

"More groups in the Concord." - Dagh

"No." - Thera

"Also got nothing." - Ring Dagh

"Improve literacy rates." - Ring Dagh

"Nope." - Azhir

>>2756868
"I'm a pacifist," shouts Dagh at Gaeral, a little far out in the crowd, "but on the other hand, my ring self isn't necessarily so."

Almost immediately following that, the crowd watches as the ground underneath the man begins to crack, forming an X underneath him. Some people back away, while others also begin to heckle the speakers.
>>
>>2756895
"You should really consider your words more Gaeral."
>>
>>2756895
"Do it you piece of elemental trash and doom yourselves to insanity for all eternity. We brought you back and we can return you to the ground. The Tyranny is the master here and you are nothing but dead souls who cannot pass on."
>>
>>2756895
Call for order and for people to settle down. Get the celebration vibe going again. If you two want a fight take it too the arena
>>
>>2756895
"Of course rebuilding the past is a good thing, otherwise wed have to sleep in ruins. It is easier to fix then rebuild. At least until major advancements allow us to actually surpass the old world."
>>
>>2756870
"We will," expresses Thera, with quite a bit of sympathy in her voice. Unlike her husband, it appears she understands the impact Vade had on the region in such a short amount of time.

>>2756904
>>2756906
As the Tyrant tries to calm the crowd, the firelight by which you see the stage flares up. Standing up, it appears that the ring self of Thera is also not about to give up on this particular topic. However, she and the remainder of what Gaeral has to say is silenced by the serpent, as are all moving. A roar bellows from his mouth, echoing through the crowd as an eery quiet rolls in. He says something once more, and disappears beneath the water, now a deep blue, if not black, in the lack of sunlight.

The translator remaining on stage merely adds, "He says that it appears neither ghouls nor anyone has grown up while he remained away."

As the festivities end, is there any action you will take? While the Tyrant has been called away for a moment, his guards are on watch in the immediate area.

You are rolling in it by the end of the night, if just because everyone else is quite drunk.

***

As the night ends, reports start to come in from the pillar, and also from the coast; it appears the Lukidor, a group of the Nakh, and East Lopen are now fully at war with the vaneads and the two other smaller groups of Nakh. On top of that, the vaneads of the swamps appear to be about to go to war with Lopen, and of course, at the pillar, the gnolls chained to the pillar have gone made, willing to forgo limbs in order to attack those around them. It appears, like the Ringbearers said, to mess with such things brings disaster... but this may only just be beginning.
