Behold, your new life now presented in isekai trash format, and it's not even the fun power fantasy kind. The problem is, the classess are all shitty! Look at these!

> Peasant [Lvl 1]

> Skeleton [Lvl 1]

> Goblin [Lvl 1]

What will you pick? Quick, the shitty goddess will toss you into the afterlife if you don't pick it fast!

Goddess: Then off with you!

With a single flick of her finger, you were tossed down from the heavens, literally, diving to earth at full speed, but you did not crash. No, your ethereal body kept on going underground, gently landing in an ancient crypt.

Your ghastly figure starts to materialize. A metamorphosis would be more accurate to describe the transformation you are undergoing. Now a ball of ectoplasm, skeletal structure of an adult starts to materialize within, sitting in fetal position. Before you know it, your cocoon bursts open, limply sliding you out of it.

Congratulations, or rather, my condolences, you are now a Skeleton [Lvl. 1]!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO9pW3sfbTY

You are currently in [Ancient Catacombs]! Local population include Mandatory slimes, undead skeletons, ghost, zombies, and friendly neighbourhood necromancers. Occasionally there are also go getter adventurers/ grave robbers/ treasure hunters! There is also that vampire lord that lives deeper in this dungeon but he's a boss tier creature so you best not bother it.

What will you do now. Take your time, not like you're getting older or anything.

The undead sluggishly patrolling this catacombs do not mind your presence, seeign as you are one of them. This means you have the upper hand of inflicting the first hit. Skeletons are brittle, and you can easily shatter these calcium deficient spooks when compared to your newly birthed skeleton body, brimming with calcium.

You defeated a 3 skeletons.

[Item searching in progress...]

After a while of looting among rotting corpses of dead adventurers, you stumbled upon a sword that is still in mint condition. It is an ordinary steel straight sword, but it will serve you well.

[Steel Sword (+1 Combat Roll) acquired!]

[Steel Sword equipped!]

Suddenly, a girl in black robes appeared. Her appearance suggests that she is a necromancer, mages who dabbles in the perversion of death. This one been watching you for a while now. Necromancers usually come here to acquire more bones and corpse parts or undead minions. No doubt this one desires you to be in her service. She carefully approach, then pointing both of her arm towards you.

Necromancer Girl: [Dominate Undead]!

A faint red glow from her palm fazes you for a bit, but it seems her spell had failed. She is still closing her eyes with her arms stretched out, mumbling something along the line of "Please work, please work, please work..."

As you comply to her demand for a gesture of servitude, the [Ancient Catacombs] rumbled, foreshadowing a great adversary. You can sense it, the killing intent. It melts with the very air circulating in the dungeon, that even a human like Karla can notice it...

There it is, the source of the unrest! A being worth of being called a [Boss]! A name hovers above it.

[Undead Champion, Cursed Arm]

An undead that reached the title of champion among its kind, and fittingly for its namesake, it's right arm flares up with unholy crimson flame! Alas, it visibly limps with multiple weapons sticking out of its back. Most likely it had just either escaped or defeated an adventuring/ subjugation party. A cornered beast, but a beast nonetheless.

Karla: M-my undead! I command thee to strike this champion down! N-now!

As damaged as this champion is, he most definitely far outclasses you. Do you still hold the facade of Karla's minion and attack, or do you flee for your life?

>>
>>2725695
Becoming a lich seems so cliche. I want to become a dungeon merchant.

By exploiting our status as a 'monster' to bypass dungeon encounters, we pick equipment off the corpses of dead adventurers, and resell the loot to adventurers looking to try their luck.

By offering them level-appropriate marginal improvements over their existing gear, we embolden them to attempt sections of dungeons that they're not as prepared for, giving the dungeon's inhabitants a slightly easier time.

And yet, by offering goods and services to adventurers, we establish a reputation with the survivors as a helpful ally. They become motivated not to make an enemy of us, because we offer them help when they need it the most.

I'm all for saving chicky poo here to get into some form of "relationship." She's a necromancer, so she probably has some intriguing reads and fun friends.

I say we work to gain her respect and trust so that we can work to learn some dark magic, and then we can do whatever we want from there.

My vote is to become the next Dark Lord of this pitiful land.

My vote would be the undead merchant that is also a secret boss. I can just imagine us training hard enough to carry medium weight armor with our kick ass weapons under our merchant attire. Of course, the [Boss] did not see you as an enemy, but rather, just another creature in this dungeon. Swiftly, you position yourself behind it and ready for an attack.

A single thrust was delivered on the back with all of the strength you could muster. Your effort fall short however, as only the tip of your sword managed to pierce through his blackened flesh.

In a matter of seconds, the undead spun and brought his fist to the ground. The sheer force of it threatens to crush you down into dust. Luckily, being a skeleton, you are much lighter and agile. Still, you find yourself now face to face with a creature that far outclasses you.

Karla: Minion, Hold him still while I cast my spell!

Karla is charging something big. You will need to hold on until she finishes doing whatever spell she is channelling.

Karla: O flames heed my call….

>>
>>2726962
Agreed

but I think that's often a consequence of them trying to go too deep with it.

I suggest a simplified system, where we only track HP, MP, Gold.

if we don't then the only way to show combat damage is via describing actually injuries, which pushes us towards realism, and less towards gaming fantasy.

The average of the rolls was 12.1666666667. A pretty close failure so I'll be merciful.

Yep. There is no way in hell you can match up to his power. A single hit sends you flying, shattering your skeletal body apart, but not killing you.

Karla: Behold, the final breath of the stars! [Supernova]!

A beam of pure heat shot out of Karla's open palm. The walls and ancient remains lying on the halls in the path the beam travels visibly singe and burn, a powerful spell indeed.

Blocking with its cursed arm, the undead champion is visibly pushed back by its sheer force. Slowly, it loses footing and kneels, still holding out against the might of Karla's magic!

Everything comes with a price of course, as Karla fails to maintain such terrible power for long. She collapses screaming, her hands charcoal black from casting the spell. An agonizing experience without a doubt. Good thing you can't feel pain anymore.

Not in vain, the cursed arm of the boss is extremely damaged, such that only the ember remains of it that glows! Still the [Boss] have not drawn its last breath. It still lives (well, however much an undead can "live" anyway), aiming to finish its downed opponent.

???: HIYAAAAAA!!!

An unknown combatant joined the battle! A young man in light armor, wrapped in black cloth engages the Undead Champion! His majestic looking sword cuts the tough layer of flesh the Undead Champion possess with ease. The [Boss], unable to retaliate with the accumulated damage it is sustaining, had its head chopped off!

Above his head can be seen hovering a word.... [Hero]! This young man is a hero! Yes you remember his face. He was one of your classmates back when you are not flattened over by Truck-sama! He and a group of others alongside you were the ones who were in the accident leading you up to this. His name was Kiri.... something! Whatever, he was a normie anyway.

Hero: Whew, That guy was tough! Hmm... this is not nearly enough EXP for defeating that boss.

He finally realized Karla whose gritting her teeth to withstand the pain of her scorched arm.

Hero: Oh, I see. You were caught up in fighting him, huh? I see.... a necromancer! Don't worry I'll help you out in a jiffy.

Do you attract his attention or let him do what he is about to do?

Well, thing is, every roll we make has a large chance of making things worse. This is different from max-based systems, where you have an 87.5% chance of beating DC 10, but rolling can only improve the result. In this particular encounter, every roll aside from 19 and 13 has lowered the running average.

Sure, the probability distribution is normal (well, binomial actually) and centered on 10, which is certainly better than the exponential of max-based systems, but the optimal strategy requires you to calculate the average and not play if things are going well.
>>
>>2727323
The big issue with the average system is that I can see there being some drama if some schmuck comes in to roll when we're way past the DC.

Parts of your skeletal body reassemble, slowly joining its respective position on your torso. Repositioning your skull and readying your bony fingers upon your trusty sword (which landed near you after the impact), you ready to approach your classmate, or more accurately the [Hero].

Before you could take a step however, Karla starts making a rather disturbing gurgling sound.

Hero: Shhh.... No more pain now...

A dagger was lodged into her throat. More disturbingly, the [Hero] did it with a smile. Is this what he meant by help?

Hero: There. Finally leveled up. Still not enough considering the level of this boss though... Oh well, whatever.

He noticed you. Crap.

Hero: Oh who is this? The necromancer's familiar maybe? Sorry, I killed her. It's because she's evil, see? And a hero's job is to vanquish evil!

Not even a sliver of regret on his voice. As a matter of fact, he sounds joyful!

???: Kai!

A rather.... well endowed... and blonde girl in priestly garb ran towards the [Hero]! She miscalculated the distance between both of them however, and ecchi scenes only possible in your average chinese cartoon. After some borderline +18 scenes, she finally recollects herself.

???: Kai... you... oh no! Are you injured? You defeated the boss yourself?

Kai: Yeah... you don't need to worry about it, Aria. Actually, I wasn't fast enough to save her.

Aria: That...! Oh merciful Goddess... She's a necromancer isn't she? I'll offer a prayer for her, and then we'll get out of here okay?

As this "Aria" offered her prayers to her deity, the briefly remorseful look on Kai's face dissipate to grin at you maliciously... the bastard!

Aria: All right, let's go Kai! That washbo- I mean Lilin is waiting for us!

Aria pulls Kai into a different part of the dungeon, and as she had said just now, most likely to the exit. There you stood, alone, with the murdered corpse of Karla the Necromancer. Her ambition of conquest was cut short early. There is no way you can chase that bastard Kai especially with the numbers on his side.

[Karla is dead! Necromancer Karla left the party!]

And then, a loud *DING* rang in your head.

[You leveled up!]

A spectral message as this one repeatedly flood your field of vision. Power surges within you!

[You are now Level 11! Evolution available!]

A game-menu like interface appears in front of you.

Choose ONE evolution!

Keep the corpse of Karla somewhere safe, search it for any necromancy books. If possible, preserve the body, and try to learn how to revive her.

Time to learn necromancy, and then raise Carla as our very own undead minion. Or just take her down to the Vampire Lord and have him do it. Or bury her, maybe necromancers raise on their own.

>Write-in: take her arcane implements, if any. Look for any magical and/our soul-capturing items on her body, maybe we can use them later.

in the end, everything runs through OP's writing method anyhow.

My suggestion:

to borrow one of the most engaging, styles of writing from fast paced thriller genre.

you succeed, but this bad thing happens as a consequence. (which can help balance our mid rolls)
or
you fail, but something happens, and you barely manage to survive. (with this, our low rolls, can create new unexpected situations, that we must adapt to. and ups the stakes, creating engaging tension.)
or
you succeed wildly, but something unexpected happens to fuck it up. (balancing our higher rolls, to keep from becoming over powered.)
or
catastrophic failure, where you barely come out alive, and serious consequences result in a new plot paradigm. (this helps the story continue, even on our most massively failed rolls, while letting the players know, that there will be consequences for failure.)

it's the classic, "this happens but" method, which is great for sustaining high tension, and a fast pace, where things are never boring.

just my two cents on the subject. ultimately it is OP's choice for how he wants to write, and how he wants to interpret our rolls.
>>
I want this hero to be ntr'd...just you wait that we can learn wearing the skin of the dead
>>
>>2727698
It’s not really a skill we can just grab a knife and start wearing the skin but it will take time and a bit of practice

We need some muscles though to wear the skin effectively.

>>
>>2727695

I agree with average of 3. As for roll interpretation, since ill be using d20 and success will be measured on how high the overall roll is from now on...

20: Critical success

16-19: Great Success

9-15: Moderate Success

8-6: Failure

5-2: Oh shit son

>Slime layer [Bio evolution path]

so many interesting possibilities with slime.

we could absorb and assimilate body parts, and elements from creatures, and possibly adventurers. and gain vocal organs, genitals etc, fairly quickly.

I want to get the heck out of being voiceless, and unable to interact with the humanoid society as quickly as possible personally.

but i'm sure we'll find some fun, regardless of what path we choose.
>>
>>2727379

The only systems that are fully troll resistant are maximum-based and best-of-n. Best-of-3 has the problem that no rolls aside from the first three count, which means only the fastest players get to enjoy rolling for success, and that you can only . You can modify the system by counting critical rolls (1 or 20) anywhere, having them give a +/-1 to the roll. Too low probability to make trolling fun, while still giving slow rollers a chance to participate.
>>
>>2727732

I really think this is wrong since roll is calculated on average of 3 rolls d20. Feel free to suggest score results.

I could just imagine ourselves.

A skeleton I am, a gold tipped merchant
A fair bargainer I am, no human or dwarven serpent.
My corporation is humble, my beginnings small
Goods sold to you from great adventurers who fall.

So go ahead, pick your piece
Finish this dungeon and buy something for your niece
Gold I'll accept, silver and copper are truly fair
But I'll warn you once, to give you a scare.
Try to steal, cheat or rob me and I'll destroy all who dare

So test my shop, the Wanderer's Refuge
before you tests the depths of this dungeon, this dark deluge

Elemental seems like a weakness in the long run since if we pick one specific element, we can get countered by another element, and if we pick multiple elements, our magic power can significantly reduced which its versatility would favor elemental crafting over combat. Combat power right now should be a main priority since we don't have the luxury of being safe from adventurers and other threats.

[Arcane evolution path advanced! Runic-marked Body gained!]

Multiple stream of blue flame dances on your bones, leaving similarly coloured glowing runes of ancient language. From your feet, the flame gradually converge on the forehead of your skull, understanding of the arcane forcefully installed into your consciousness!

You can feel something swelling deep in your core!

[You have reached a new height of evolution, and with it, powers beyond mortal imagination creeps further into grasp!]

Yes indeed. You can feel not just the arcane essence within you, but also that of this very dungeon. In the [Ancient Catacombs]'s stone walls flows a vein of mana circulating within it. It acts as the lifeblood of this dungeon. All dungeons are unique, but like many tombs-made-dungeon, the mana is used to continuously sustain the dead.

[Spell gained: Arcane Bolt, Fire]

Karla's body rose! Her eyes are empty, with the dagger used to murder her still sticking out of her throat. She had become a [Zombie]! These walking corpses of the recently deceased not only possess the strength of the body as it once lives, but additionally, resistance to pain and poison!

Where the corpse once lie before it starts to wander off is the apparition of Karla. Her soul had become a [Ghost]! There are many reasons that a soul would not move on to the afterlife. Two that is most likely the reason is strong emotional ties like anger and the dungeon itself confining her here.

Karla: No... I can't be dead! I have so much more I want to do! No!

Her face contorts to a horrifying degree. Ghastly screeches were released as she starts flinging debris and corpses around at terrifying speed and velocity!

At this rate, she will eviscerate you if you stay close! What will you do?

I have a bad bad feeling that we might to just become another villain arc for kirigaya the protag to defeat. Let's not be too early with our action of plan, but let's not be too slow. We should try plant spies in town markets to track the hero's progress so we can be one step ahead of them, but at the same time, try to make our esionage like terrorist-cells style to prevent a paper trail to us. I doubt the kingdoms of now know anything about an information war, but we don't know anything about their technological or societal progress so they might actually be more advanced than I thought.

Crush the hero with our gold sack.

Skeletons and undead don't need to sleep, eat, etc. Get a crew, get to mining, and rake in profits. Then hire 20 hero bodyguards as our secret service.

>Die villain. The hero screams with the fire and fury of false righteousness with the loli mage.

Clickity-Clack, Clickity-Clack, the hero without a meeting does lack.
Bodyguards, Friends, take him out the back.

Angry, furious, give him a beating
Remember next time to set a meeting.

Now back to the agenda, and hero to your sorrow.
The King of Fresia scheduled a meeting for the morrow.

Go home, young hero and remember this.
The merchant skeleton has friends among the High lists.

We need to calm her down, and what better way to do that than the reassurance of our presence as her servant, even from beyond the grave. You kneel in servitude, just as you once did moments before her untimely death! The debris dancing in the vortex around her threatens to shatter your bones, but it receded after Karla realized what you are doing.

G. Karla: M-my undead... it is you...

She tried to touch you, but instead her hand phases through.

G. Karla: My first and final success. It should've only been the beginning... Even now you remain loyal to me. But I'm afraid I can't do much now.

"It is not all lost! You still have your soul to keep and the means to achieve your dreams still. Resurrection as a means too should be a viable option!"

These thoughts resonated in your mind, but somehow Karla can hear them.

G. Karla: I can... hear your thoughts. But it's faint. Still, you are right minion. I... I've never felt like this. It's like I'm a pure mass of emotion. If I'm sad, I'll be devastated. If I'm angry, I'm furious. But now, I guess I'm joyful. I'm glad.

The ghost smiled, the air around Karla slowly lightens.

G. Karla: I see.... resurrection, yes? A true resurrection would be a miracle of the gods themselves, but something related with necromancy should be able to replicate it. But first, where is my body.

Yes indeed, the Zombie Karla had wandered off into the distance. The trail of blood leads further down into the catacombs, where more dangerous adversaries lie. karla immediately starts to panic, pushing you to search for it now before other more carnivorous inhabitants of this dungeon gnaws upon it.

Off to search the dead body of Karla shall we?

Rember that those on the "goodside" do just as bad things as the bad guys hell they might be wores as they would have no regrets because they beivle what there doing is righteous and so they will hold no guilt over the actions they do
>>
>>2730831
Those on the good side and the bad side are like USA and USSR. They're both bad sides with good intentions in the war. More importantly, they're both naive sides ripe for SOG (Skeleton Occupied Governmeatnt) control.

By the way, I want to try invent firearms in this quest to destroy the hero's armor. I believe we can get potassium nitrate (saltpeter) from feces but I think the Swiss method will be easier - piss in sand and extract saltpeter from it. We can probably get naturally occuring sulphur and charcoal here in the caves, so we should try set up some mining expedition with enough capital. After getting those 3 ingredients, mix it into gunpowder with the proper ratio and test it a bit. See if dynamite can work well in combat. After, we should try making some basic muzzle-loaded smoothbore musket (we can probably use magic as a trigger, so no need for a flintlock mechanism) and then advance towards a rifled musket with minie balls. Telekinesis will probably speed up the reloading process dramatically, and mayble should be used in the triggering process. I'm not an expert on this btw. Honestly elemental control would've helped so much with chemistry.

Wait, am I seriously trying to start a World War in this quest? Next thing you know, we're some arcanepunk industrial skelejews who disturbed the old world order through firearm-enhanced peasant rebellions and several international treaties that somehow put the rest of the new countries under our bones. First will be the Napoleonic Wars to cement leftism, the First World War to destroy monarchy, the Second World War to remove fascism, and the Cold War to cement ignorance of the bone.

I can't find a good female zombie pic. Post some for Zombie Karla. One for Ghost Karla would also be appreciated.

For a zombie, she sure is fast, not to mention the trail of blood getting thinner by the distance. She had traversed 3 floors deeper into the [Ancient Catacombs], ignored by most of its denizens because of her status as fellow monster.

Yes, MOST! The omnivorous sludge living in the more humid part of this floor in particular devours anything organic for sustenance, even dusty bones of the long deceased. The dreaded [Slime]s! The type and look they sport varies from location to location. In this dungeon's case, the slime is black in colouration, much more thicker and slower than it's cousins who live in clear water environment. That in turn grants it superior defense and strength to protect it's core, the nucleus of this creature. They rely on surprise attacks from above, dropping on unsuspecting victims!

Ahem... aside from that info dump, it seems the pale zombie of Karla had gotten tangled up with one of these creatures. Luckily, the [Slime] is not big enough to swallow her whole, and now slowly digesting her robes and necromantic trinkets first.

A feast for the eyes you could say, if you still have your little member. Karla's not a drop dead gorgeous babe by any means, but she's still pretty cute. Partucalrly her youthful appearance, added with hte empty moan of her zombified self-

G. Karla: What are you thinking, minion! Save my body before it gets digested by that damn slime! I order you to kill it, now!

Uh oh, she's getting mad and preparing to throw stuff at you...

Well, it's time to fight. What method will you use to vanquish this foul beast? Steel or arcane?

Yes, perhaps using magic, not to add one that you have not tried on a new adversary with Karla's body on the line might not be the best idea. A sword would be much safer to use, no?

Carefully, you approached the dromant slime while he is digesting, as to not startle it. As it have been described, it's hard to see within this genus of slime due to it's pitch black colouration. Faintly though, an orb can be seen moving around, avoiding touching it's meal while it digests. This is the core, or rather the nucleus of the creature.

It's hard to stab it off. Aside from trying not to stab Zombie Karla (which you accidentally did a few times), the nucleus freely moved inside the confines of it gelatinous body, which is rather hard to pierce due to the thickness of the substance. Your steel sword is also slowly corroding from being dipped into the slime, which clearly have caustic property.

Finally, the core was stabbed. It is pretty fragile, so one hit is enough to shatter it. The slime devolves into a puddle of black sludge with Zombie Karla limply lying in it.

G. Karla: Yay! Good job minion! Now let's grab my body bakc and return to the upper levels of this dungeon. A vampire lord lives just one floor below so we need to act quickl-

???: Massssster wantssss fressshhhh bodiesss. Ingor and friendssss found one!

Before you could even finish turn around, a roving gang of pale naked goblinoid creatures grabbed Zombie Karla deeper into the dungeon with terrifying speed. They are very ugly. Briefly, you can identify them as [Thrall]s, undead servants made through the ingestion or transfusion of vampiric blood.

And both of you just stared emptily into the distance, into an imaginary sunset, either in despair or acceptance.

G. Karla: Wait like hell we are! Go and chase them right now! Now! This is an order!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Well approximately now you are in the 5th floor of the [Ancient Catacomb]. This is where the aforementioned Vampire Lord rules. Since this is his domain, the monsters here are mostly vampire thralls. This floor is tidier than the others, decorated with burial gift and trinkets from ages past.

G. Karla is yapping about how you should just slaughter them all for nabbing her body all willy nilly like that, but you're not under her control so your choices are quite a few in reacquiring Karla's body.

You choose...

Welp couldnt sleep so here's one update. Skipped diplo and straight into the reveal as most of what i had planned for the thralls are filler bullshit anyway.

A bit of clickity clacks were given, but the thralls do not understand. Karla translated for you, but it quickly devolved into a series of insult and shouting.

???: Welcome to my domain, undead. I suppose you are seeking this?

Out of a the darkness, a pale man in decorated and fancy looking clothing walked out of the shadow, accompanied by another.

It is the body of Karla, now in regal dress, though slightly revealing. The iris of her lifeless eyes were changed to bloodshot red. The gaping gash on her neck had vanished.

G. Karla: Bastard, what have you done to my body?!

???: This is your body, ghost? Well, not much really. I doubt a necromancer like you is unable to guess. A little touch of necromancy… and my vampiric blood!

Pulling Zombie Karla’s lips slightly upwards, a glistening fang can be seen amongst her set of teeth.

???: Truth be told I would have a more attractive and still living lady to join my ranks as servants, but I just couldn’t ignore this body’s capacity for magic. Be proud you could’ve been of use to me, even beyond death!

Yep, this man is the vampire lord. Over his head can be seen the title [Pure-blooded Vamire].

Vamp. Lord: I saw what happened in the upper floor, undead, and I wish to enlist your strength in my endeavours. I know you are not just any walking corpse.

The Vampire Lord points at you.

Vamp. Lord: You have evolved, a natural process as any monsters. But, rune marked skeletons are not naturally appearing monsters. They are necromantic creatures created by ancient sorcerers who relied on runes to harness and materialize mana. Seeing them outside hidden tombs of ancient rune mages of old are very rare.

G. Karla: What. Is. Your. Point.

Karla is seething at this point.

Vamp. Lord: My point is, this undead here is special, and with the potential to become even stronger. As I had said, I want you to help me. Of course, I will recompense. As a sign of trust, here. I shall hand you back your body to keep. Either you want to continue on with whatever you intend to do with her, or keep it as a pet, I do not care. Now what is your answer?

“Master, let’s hear out what he have to say first.”

G. Karla: Tch! Fine! What is it that you require assistance with?

Darnik: Excellent. Let’s start with the name of your employer shall we? My name is Darnik Von Risvelt. My family have been refining our vampiric blood, such that I was able to ascend to be a pure-blooded vampire-

G. Karla: Cut the crap and get to the point!

Darnik: …very well then. This dungeon, the mana that is flowing, coursing through it, do you know where it comes from, undead?

G. Karla: Of course! The [Ancient Catacombs] was a tomb for a tyrant necromancer king who once ruled this land!

Darnik: Not JUST the necromancer king, but also his son and daughter, alongside his loyal follower. Furthermore, he was very much alive when he came here to rest. More accurately he fled into and sealed the tomb with his followers when his rule was toppled…

The vampire lord continues to explain… The necromancer king, swearing vengeance upon his enemies, put his armies and followers to slumber through a massive necromantic ritual, such that they will wake up when their enemies are complacent. Of course, something did go wrong, seeing as the ones whom defeated him are long gone and his lands were absorbed into the empire. The [Slumbering King] had been but all forgotten, save for a few old texts recording his exploits. Nonetheless, he was a powerful necromancer, and the heart of this dungeon. Through his powers, the necromantic properties of this place remains active.

Not long after this ritual, his eldest son, a bloodthirsty warrior, whom is hunted by those who wish to punish him for his misdeeds, too fled into the catacombs. With every fortune that the prince can muster, he hired men to dig deep and find an entrance into the catacombs where his father is resting in. Hasty effort would not go unpunished however, as the tunnels collapsed, trapping the prince, his loyal warriors and workers inside. After their meagre supply of food depletes, the warriors and the prince turned their eyes to the starving workers. That too ran out fast. After a bloody battle, the prince rose victorious, and devoured his fallen warriors. Rumor has it that a horrific man-beast had dug into the dungeon. The [Entombed Prince] was kept alive by the catacomb’s magic, and distorts him horribly for his sins…

Next is the youngest princess, the last of the necromancer king’s surviving kin. She was beautiful, such that her beauty can be compared to a goddess. Alas, she was a woman with a heart as black as coal. The princess’s never ending desire to maintain her youth led to her enemies discovering her quick, mostly through her dark rituals and coven of witches practicing dark magic. She along with her followers too fled and sought to return her father, as his ill met older brother did.

[Cont.]
>>
>>2735529

Instead she seek to blow a hole into the catacombs through the natural caverns below it that connects through the sea. Misfortune struck, and they were lost inside the maze like caverns. In desperation and madness, they devour and mate with sea beasts that traverses the waterway. They remain forever changed, the princess and her witches the mother of humanoid sea creatures, most notoriously [Sirens], succubus-like women who lure sailors to their watery doom. A sad end, considering the [Sunken Princess] and her coven are but just a layer of stone away from reaching the catacombs. Part of the dungeon had been filled with water recently, leading to that very same caverns…

Darnik: Point is, I require you to obtain the [Slumbering King]’s heart, before the heroes of light reached him and destroy this dungeon. I could’ve done it myself had it not been for the son and daughter of the king too guarding him. The heroes grew stronger every day and I’m not powerful enough to challenge the king’s guardian.

G. Karla: So you are going to send us, monsters weaker than you, to do it instead?

Darnik: No. I will nurture your potential until you are strong enough to challenge these horrors. It will not be easy. I understand if you feel threatened by this task, but trust me I will give you the necessary means to do it. A reward for you is still a must of course.

What is your decision?

But only if there's no small printing in this contract and we retain our independence while working for him. Again, I really don't want to make magical/soul binding contracts even if that would hypothetically share his power with us. As a higher tier undead, a vampire lord like him could easily end up enthralling a skelly and a ghost in a subtle way unnoticeable for people with barely enough magical powers to count as arcane creatures.

Basically, work for him, eventually do our part of the contract and then fuck off to fulfill our revenge against the kiritofag. Fending off those high end undead boss tier monsters would be a suitable test of might as isekai heroes are overpowered as fuck and if we can't even claim a heart guarded by two undead prince/ss, we won't be able to murder the shit out of him

“We have everything to gain from this Master. I don’t see why we should decline.”

G. Karla: Bloody… Alright. We’ll play your little game.

Darnik: It is not a game!

He sighed a bit at Karla’s impudence.

Darnik: Listen, to acquire the king’s heart, I have sunk a large amount of fortune, and time. Now the heroes seek to undo everything! My coffer runs dry, but I’ll ensure you are not ill-equipped in your journey. Undeads do not need sleep or rest, which means you will not expire as quickly as a human will in… undesirable conditions.

First, a way to bind both Karlas in a single entity. Then probably some unholy healing goods to keep fighting even if bones are broken and flesh is destroyed. I assume vampirized Karla can regenerate, but i dunno if an arcane skelly can regenerate broken bones.

Darnik: Spellbooks, armor, weapons, map of the dungeon layout, magic amplifying trinkets and… milk. Understood. There are a few items salvaged from that ghost’s body which I can return to you. Give me a moment, my thralls shall prepare them. I would’ve invited you for a cup of tea in the meantime, but circumstances dictate that it’s not possible, unfortunately. Indulge yourself in my humble abode. When all is finished I will gladly invite you to my mansion.

After an hour or so, a gang of thralls arranged all of the supplies you detailed on a table. Firstly the requested spellbooks.

Darnik: Here are a couple of elementary spells, and a necromancy tome. I don’t think I would have to teach you how to use the first two and that ghost there should be able to guide you on using the last one.

Then, the armour, weapons and trinkets.

Darnik: A well-made armor, this is. A chest plate made of high quality steel. Furthermore, I have enchanted it with some degree of elemental protection. If I had more time I would’ve created a better enchantment, but that is not the kind of privilege we have here. Next is a sword to replaye the damaged one you’re wielding. The craftsmanship of this weapon is not spectacular, but a strong lightning magic have been infused within. The horrors of the deep are susceptible to it.

Aside from the usual necromantic trinkets that amplify dark magics which Karla owned, Darnik presented a cylindrical container, about the size of your palm with a skull on top of it. He informed you that this container siphons mana from fallen enemies, and the dungeon itself if you can somehow tap into its veins. It should help expand your capacity for spellcasting!

Darnik: And then all that is left is milk. My thrall snuck out of the dungeon and acquired a jug worth of it.

A blood soaked thrall presented you with a sealed jug of said liquid nectar.

Darnik: That is all yes?

You: Darnik. I would like you to procure a few ingredients before we embark.

You listed your need for saltpetre, charcoal and sulphur in bulk, all of them in a roughly 3:2:1 ratio.
Darnik: Manageable. Two of them are easily acquired alchemical ingredients. It shall be ready after you complete your first task.

G. Karla: Well, don’t keep us waiting.

With basic tools of digging laid on your feet, Darnik continues.

Darnik: Your first task is to venture into the flooded parts of the dungeon, and slay the [Sirens] living there.

[To be continued….]

Thank you for joining me on this wild ride! The next thread will be done on weekend so stay tuned. Cheerios folks!

Sell firearms and then get captured and forced to become some kingdom's royal engineer sure okay.
The point of firearms is to destroy the curent ruling class. We must find an evil noble and scapegoat him to the local peasant populace so that they may rebel. We shall arm these lowborn men and then destroy every kingdom in sight, and at the same time, profit off the wars by giving out war loans that deliver crushing debt and manufacturing firearms for both sides and sell them through proxy dealers. The end result is a subverted Skeleton Occupied Government with every democracy under our bone.

I'm fairly sure the 'point' of firearms is to be a new and effective way of killing things, but okay.

One great weakness for firearms though should be other wizards. They'll try to ignite our powder or destroy our barrels.
