You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, third place in the Sports Festival's Obstacle race and thus, one of the 42 students that get to continue on to the next event, a Cavalry Battle.

Ranking third also means that you are worth 200 points, and that you have some options to pick for your warhorse.

Maybe too many, since you have five friends wanting to work with you and the teams must not have more than four members, forcing you to pick who you want to work with.

As he said, you had fought Fumikage and Dark Shadow before, and… yeah, even if you won in the end, you have to admit that they beat the tar out of you. It would be nice to have that kind of power pointing away from you, along with Dark Shadow's reach, extra pair of eyes and everything else.

Mina you haven't really fought with or against, but you know she's fast and strong, both physically and quirkwise. And with her quirk emitting a physical substance, using your quirk to enlarge her would massively boost her power and reach… Although you aren't really sure how great of an idea a tidal wave of acid would be.

Momo you have worked with before, both as colleagues as class reps and during the mess that was the USJ incident. She's one of the smartest people you know of, knows how to take her time and use her incredibly powerful and versatile quirk, which works great with yours.

Pony is a dear friend of yours, able to run on all fours and the strongest girl of your age you know of, having literally sent you flying with a tackle-hug a while ago. And it may hurt you to say it, but she said it first. She's built to play horse.

Lastly, Shoto is the one person in the stadium that knows you the most, Momma in the gallery notwithstanding, as you have trained with him for weeks, and have fought him twice. You have a pretty good grasp on how he moves and how he fights, along with his capabilities. He has advanced combat training and is undoubtedly powerful. Really powerful, and that's just his right side. And even if you'd like him to stop playing with an arm behind his back, having been encased in ice in the blink of an eye before you are honestly scared of what his left could do.

After a minute of navel gazing and scratching your chin, you finally look at your friends surrounding you.

"Fumikage, Pony…" You start, stretching your back and scratching the back of your neck. "Sorry pals. Nothin' personal about it, I just think Mina, Momo, Shoto and I would make the best warhorse."

>"Nice!" Mina says cheerfully, pumping her fist in the air.

>"I understand." Fumikage replies, nodding. "I'll be going then, I have to find a team that'll take me in."

>"<Oh. I thought we would... >" She lets out, seemingly taken aback before finding her words, shrugging. "<I guess it'll be a Cow and Pony face-off then?>"

"<And you better not mess up, sugar.>" You reply, grabbing your friend for a quick half hug. "<I won't let you forget it if you lose in a cavalry battle.>"

>"<You just worry about not getting your hide left out to tan, okay? I'll see you on the next event!>" Your fellow american says, returning the hug.

>"That sounds… wrong, doesn't it?" Momo comments, standing next to Shoto by the side and getting a confused shrug from Mina.

>"I have no baseline to compare it to." Shoto nonchalantly answers, swiftly disengaging from the conversation.

>"Is OUR thing." Pony answers, turning around to shoot her the best glare her large and cutesy eyes allow her to, surprising Momo. She then steps aside from you. "<I better go find a new jockey! Good luck!>"

And with that she leaves, prancing off and quickly overtaking Fumikage and his cool, slow walk.

>"...I like our foreigner better." Momo comments after Pony gets out of sight.

>"Well, duh. Our Ushi is far cuddlier." Mina says, butting in and throwing herself at you for a quick hug before bouncing away. "No idea why you said that though. I didn't get a single word of what they said! Like, none at all!"

>"All four of us..." Shoto muses, looking at the three girls in front of him. "Ushi will take the front, since her quirk will not benefit from being on the flanks and she should be able to reach everyone from that position. Ashido and Yaoyorozu will take a flank each, it does not matter which one, since both of you can easily play defend. Since I am the only one who has any ranged abilities, I will be the rider."

And just like that, he seems to have it all handled.

>"Wait. We don't get to say anything?" Mina understandably asks. "Why can't I be the rider? I can splash acid some meters ahead!"

>"Because you will sprinkle acid on one or more of us." He answers, before asking back. "Any better ideas?"

>"...That makes sense." Mina says, then shrugs, turning to look at you. "To be honest, I just want to rampage on the arena for a while."

>"Then let us go fetch our headband." Shoto concludes, turning around and starting to walk towards the stage.

You just blink and share a glance with Momo.

It was pretty fast. You don't really like being told what to do, but he is the one with the years of training, and Momo seems… not alright with it, but willing to go along.

With our current formation that would be a better pick although i know that Shoto crippling himself by not using one if his sides is a bad idea to have as a rider.

>>You will grow large enough to carry your team on your head and shoulders. If they are going to need something to hang on to (e.g. rope) momo should make miniature versions and attach it to your horns or the shoulders of your clothing before you enlarge. Momo will take the headband and stay on you head. Since they wont need to hold momo up, shoto and mina can both focus on fighting other teams. Shoto will stay on the right shoulder and mina on the left.

Probably won't seriously injure anyone if you avoid headshots and other sensitive/vital areas.

That is not how guns work at all, anon.
"Shooting to wound" is an asinine hollywood myth no better than shooting the gun out of someone's hand. And an actively harmful one, because morons like you always try to second guess people fatally shooting someone who was shooting at them with "well why didn't he just shoot to wound him?"
SNIPE can get away with that shit thanks to the combination of his Quirk with HeroAca's distinct blend of shonen logic and cape comic logic. But we are not Snipe, and our Quirk does not help with that.
>>
>>2713585
That's why we use a whip!
>>
>>2713585
One I was replying to the use of wax bullets. Which can be used as less than lethal ammunition, but even if they can be used in this manner they can still kill people if fired to sensitive parts of the human body. Two in the case of less than lethal rounds it is not a myth to shoot without killing. Thrid you should read posts before replying to them.
>>
>>2713585
Also who goes around calling people morons, just be a man and call people faggots, we aren't in grade school anymore, anon.
>>
>>2713621
As for the subject of wax bullets, THEY'RE also a terrible idea, because the cavalry battle is going to be incredibly hectic. So the risk of a stray round hitting someone in a vital area is quite high.
There's a reason cops don't generally use them for riot suppression. Or at all, really, except as a training aid sometimes. Big crowds and less-lethal ammunition for live firearms are a very bad mix. If we wanted to do something like that, just have Momo make four gas masks and a bunch of tear gas grenades. Or pepperball. Or a couple of tasers. Or a high pressure water cannon. All of which ARE generally safe to use with large crowds.
As for your bitchy little comment about reading posts, it's not entirely clear which half of the quoted segment you were referring to, so blow it out your ass.
>>
>>2713635
>how dare you call me a moron!
>call me a faggot like any decent person would!
Only on 4chan
>>
>>2713635
Faggot is a generic insult, I was referring specifically to people being ignorant dipshits opining on things they know little about.
Like using wax bullets in a riot suppression role. Again, they're a training aid generally used with an assload of protective equipment. Not a riot suppression tool.

>I'll see you on the next event!>"
Okay, after reading through your archive I have noticed 3 consistent mistakes you have made. You have no god damn idea how to use on*, in*, and huh*. The sentence here is incorrect, its in* the next event, on means a physical action, not a intent of action. Far as I can tell you mix up where on and in should be so regularly I am convinced you are just flipping a coin on which goes where. As for huh, whenever you have uh* in a sentence it is usually used incorrectly. Uh is to be used to ask a question, Huh is to be used to state surprise.
>I just want to rampage on the arena for a while."
Same issue here, while it is more ambiguous, in* the arena is still more accurate than on*
If you can learn to not fuck up those 3 words than this quest would be easier to read, I can not understate how many times I yelled at my monitor whenever you fucked up a simple sentence.

Thanks for reading and putting up with my mistakes so far. I'm not saying this as an excuse, but English is my second language and it shows at times.

I only learned about a month ago that I use "on" and "in" incorrectly, and I'm trying to improve. That makes those two examples particularly painful, as I seemingly had them right before second guessing myself and then messing them up.

The "uh" and "huh" mix ups, however, are new to me. Thanks for pointing it up.

I hope you liked the rest of the quest though.

There are more than ten minutes left to plan, so you don't have to go with the first warhorse configuration or strategy that Shoto says. It's not only that you don't like being told what to do, but even if you trust his judgement, it'd be dumb to ignore Momo's concerns.

But you still let him go fetch the headband. You'll still need that, and it's not like the value is going to change.

Besides, even if she obviously has something in her mind, she didn't want to say when he put his plan forwards, so she might be a bit more open without him around.

"So, what's on your mind, sugar?" You ask her, turning to look at your colleague, keeping your pink friend within your field of view.

>"Huh?" Momo lets out, seemingly surprised by your question.

"You look like you've got a couple cents to throw in." You tell her, placing a hand on her shoulder. You are pretty sure it's to support her, or maybe you are just getting too used to all the hugging you've doing since you got here. "So, a penny for your thoughts?"

She then looks up for a second before looking at you again.

>"Is just…" Momo starts before dragging on the word. "Have you ever seen him use his left side? In any sort of combat, I mean?"

"Can't say I've seen it, and Ah don't think he's gonna start outta nowhere." You tell her, keeping the details to the minimum. You have no right to vent other families' issues, no matter how messed up they are.

>"You've known him for longer than any of us, surely you know why?" She asks.

Looking at her furrowed brow, you can see a shadow of worry, but her eyes are pretty clear. She's looking for the best solution.

"Of course I do!" You proudly boast, before deflating a bit. "Can't tell ya the specifics, but it's by choice."

>"Have you tried to convince him to do it?" Se continues, slumping forwards a bit. "I hate to say it, but unless he starts using it right now, he should take the right flank and let me be your rider."

"I've done some prying, but.. Eh." You answer with a shrug.

It's true, you have tried to get him to accept himself and stop planning his life around his father, but you aren't the best at the "accept yourself" kinda speech.

After all, you are a terrible liar.

>"I know he's cold, but it you should have an easy time… charming him to do it." Mina adds, finally joining in, touching her elbows together and winking at you.

"Nice try, but won't fall for that anymore. I literally can't do it." You smugly tell her, crossing your arms and pretending to not get the implication, while Momo does her best to drive her nose back into her skull with the palm of her hand.

>"...Focus girls, focus." Momo pleads, caressing the bridge of her nose. "We have here what may be the most powerful horse here, but 710 points may not guarantee us a spot on the next event since we don't know how many teams will move on. We'll probably make it, but..."

>"...Focus girls, focus." Momo pleads, caressing the bridge of her nose. "We have here what may be the most powerful horse here, but 710 points may not guarantee us a spot on the next event since we don't know how many teams will move on. We'll probably make it, but..."

"You don't want to take any chances. I get it." You answer, starting to see where is this going.

>"The best configuration, I'm sure, would be for me to be the rider, letting me use both hands to create and manipulate tools. You should take the front, as not only are you the sturdiest of us four, but it should let me hand you anything you need, and let you grow anything I create." Momo explains, counting down from four with her fingers. "With a strong pilot secured, Todoroki and Mina should be able to easily handle their flanks, and we would be able to help on either side as needed."

>"For all that's worth, even if I don't get to go daiseijin, I know you'll get me to the last event!" Mina says, giving both of you a double thumbs up and a wide smile. "Whatever's the plan, I'll do my best to see it through!... Really though, daiseijin, please."

Mina has a point…

Not about her being the giant rampaging alien, or not only about that.
She may last the whole cavalry battle, but you could easily be a one-girl-horse for the whole event, and it'd be the best possible way to show off. No one can possibly ignore a 50 feet gal, and it'd be incredibly hard for anyone to take the headband off your rider, and they could all work their best when not having to hold a rider!..

You don't get to rumminate for long though, as Shoto's voice pulls you out.

>"710. One of the highest initial scores, I am sure." He comments, holding the printed white band on his open hands for you to see. "But even if we somehow lose it, all we need to do is take the 10000000 points band."

He then takes both ends and raises them to his head…

>"Actually Todoroki, if you could hold on for a minute, we may need to… reassess our warhorse composition." Momo says, interrupting him.

>"We do?" He asks, stopping and lowering his arms, staring emotionlessly at her.

>"Ushi and I were... talking about positioning and… and..." Momo tries to explain, looking away and then back at Shoto every few words, lowering her volume each time. "Actually, it was her idea! She can tell you!"

And with that, she throws you at the wol-

>"You had something to add?" He casually asks you, with the smallest hint of warmth in his voice and the shadow of a smile tugging at the ends of his mouth.

Gotta support Momo, hopefully she doesn't horribly job in the third round.
>>
I belive the best strategy here would be to shrink us down as the rider and just have our horse go after bands and just hand them to us to shrink down. We can even change who we our riding so people will have a hard time figuring out where we actually are.
>>
>>2716465
We could always do that with our rider. Which if it’s momo. Then there would be almost no handicap as we’d enlarge any of her items anyway.
>>
How about Momo makes incorrect copies of the headband and no one outside the team knowas who wears the real one
>>
>>2716511
The rider needs to wear the headband anon. You should read the rulea one more time if you didn't get that part.

>>2716514
I just reread it, your right but we could do the same for our rider, wearing multiple headbands even if fake is allowed and incredibly confusing
>>
>>2716519
No, Ushi's bad earing is justified by her texan upbringing. You know all the card tricks using whips and the shooting contests and what not.

I believe that is mentioned when we managed to not get scared by Bakugou's explosive snap close to our ear.
>>

So long we also wear the real one too, i think that it's allowed.

Nah if we make to much it will be obvious that some of than are fake. What we should do is avoid getting surprised by the people who will steal the headbands from those focusing on Deku.
>>
>>2717087
Hell, we should BE one of the teams sniping at those focused on Team Deku.
>>
>>2717172
Agreed. And taking advantage of the teams trying to take our fake.
>>
>>2717172
We have a decently high starting score, focusing on the people on the fringes is a fairly safe play to maintain our lead and eke ahead. Literally everyone is going for the big shiny, that's really high risk high reward. Not necessarily something we should feel forced to go for.
>>
>>2717172

This, if we got the 1'000'000 headband in the first 5 minutes half the other teams would be after us for the next 10. We should spend the first 10 minutes on small fry to secure passage to the next round then try for first place.
>>

Now that Momo prompted him to ask, there's nothing left to do but answer to his question.

"Actually, yeah. We talked about how, even if you have range, havin' your entire left side as a blindspot ain't the best thing. Nothin' personal sugar, but Momo would make a better rider." You tell him with a smile, trying to not look condescending or unappreciative of his plan. "...Unless you wanna start usin' both of your sides?"

And just with that comment, his face returns to his cold and slightly menacing resting expression, handing the band to Momo.

>"I'll never use my fire in combat." He says, looking down at his hands. "But you are right. I will perform better on the right flank of the horse, keeping my feet on the ground."

"...Thought you'd say somethin' like that." You reply, slumping forwards and deflating a bit.

>"So… What are we doing again?" Mina asks, seemingly confused. "You've a plan, right? Everyone else seems to be making one of those."

Looking around, you can see what she meant by that. There are another eleven groups formed already, each huddled together and talking, with ten of them occasionally glancing at the eleventh, Deku's.

It's as clear as water. Like Midnight said, no matter how badly you did in the race, or how many points you start with, whoever has the 10000000 points at the end wins, and everyone in the arena wants to win.

"Kinda like magpies, ain't they?" You say, getting your teammates' attention. "They all be circling around the big shiny thing."

>"No one knows how many will advance to the next stage." Momo explains. "Thus, the only sure way to advance is to get the first place, and the only way to get it is with Midoriya's points."

>"That awareness is by itself an advantage." Shoto comments. "We should not bother planning to take it from Midoriya at the beginning of the event, we only need to hold it when the timer runs out."

>"Let's say we take it and focus on defending it during the last five minutes, that's only the last third of the battle." Momo adds.

"Well, we got all these moths going around the same flame…" You say, twirling a lock of your hair. "I'm sure Deku has a plan to shake 'em off his tail, but we'll get a minute or two before they realize they have other headbands to chase after."

>"I say we tear the wings right off their backs! They'll never see it coming!" Mina says, bouncing in place. "...That's how that metaphor works, right?"
"Dunno. I was just making it up as I talked." You answer with a shrug, running a quick bit of napkin math on your head. "But it's a good idea. There's like… 4000 other points going around, and assumin' we need sixteen participants for a fair tournament bracket, we just need to get another 600 points and we are in, no matter what."

As soon as you say that, you notice your teammates staring at you, with Momo seemingly impressed but with a smile on her face, and Shoto just nodding. Mina just looks flabbergasted.
>>
>"...Why?" Mina asks, tilting her head to the side.

>"Well, if you take the total 4305 points and…" Momo starts explaining, raising her finger and adopting the same voice she used when you studied together, which seems to quickly lose Mina's attention, as well as yours. You already know the math.

Instead, you look at the other teams around.

You are happy to see that Fumikage got into a good team, joining Deku's along with… Mei!
You don't know what her quirk is, but being in support, you aren't all that worried about it. What worries you are the gizmos and bobbins on them, and the familiar glint of the casings material. A backpack on Deku, and metallic boots on Uraraka and Mei.

...Where's Iida, then? You would have thought he'd be with his friends!

Looking around a bit more, you manage to see him along with his team, Sero, Kirishima and Daisy.

For a tiny fraction of a second, that baffles you. Then you realize what you are looking at.
Their starting points should be about the same as yours if not higher, and their team itself is fairly intimidating. Kirishima at the front would likely take everything anyone could throw at him, Daisy has power and a decent range, and Sero has probably the longest range, and the ability to entangle their opponents. Adding Iida's speed, that's an impressive tank.

Looking away from that, you manage to find Pony, seemingly having found a team with that purple haired jerk with your hat and listening to him intently. At least he's using it sort of right?

Still, you are happy for her. If that guy got this far and managed to convince her and Aoyama, along with those other two, he must be doing something right. It wouldn't be the first skilled douchebag you know of.

The last team to catch your attention is Denki's, as he seems to be working with a buggish looking class B boy and a support kid, judging by the blocky gloves and belt he is wearing. You think you may have seen that kid before, when you went to fetch Tin, but he doesn't stand out in any way. In fact, he seems rather ill equipped when compared to Mei.

>"Ushi?" Shoto says, calling your attention back to your own warhorse. "Are you listening? We got little time left to plan."

Turning your head as fast as you can without reducing your neck to splinters, you see that everyone seems to be waiting for your input on something.

"...No." You admit, smiling sheepishly. "What are we talking about now?"

>"Defence." Momo clarifies. "Our plan is to take as many headbands as possible while they are distracted, but it's unlikely that we'll be the only ones with that idea. Our defences should be flexible and strong enough, but it wouldn't hurt to have redundancies. Any ideas?"

She's right. Your team is formidable, and it'll be hard to even get close enough for anyone who wants to attack you, but chalking it up as impossible is asking to be defeated.

"I think I've got one." You say, scratching your chin. "But you'll have to let me fix your hair."

>"What?" She asks, understandably confused.

You then lean closer and whisper your idea to her ear, telling her to make a similar but identifiable fake headband to wear on her forehead, and to hand you the real one to replace her scrunchie.

It's not cheating as long as it stays over her neck! A nigh-perfect defense!

"And you could make more fake ones once we get more. It'd be too suspicious now." You tell her as you finish re-doing her trademark ponytail. It's far from perfect, but looking like she just ran a marathon is just what you needed now.

>"And turn them inside out." Shoto adds. "They are less likely to go for a target of unknown value, and if they manage to get close enough to take one, they cannot aim for the highest value."

>"Great!" Mina comments. "I feel like I'm serving coffee in a war room!"

"Crap, sorry! Any ideas, Mina?" You quickly ask her, trying to include her more in the discussion.

>"Nope!" She says, energetically shaking her head. "I didn't say I didn't like it!"

You don't get to reply, as a voice blasts on the speaker system.

>"We'll be starting any moment now!" Midnight says, causing you to look at your teammates and assume your positions. Kicks to the ribs notwithstanding, it's pretty easy to hold Momo up between the three of you.

>"...These look like quite the line ups." Comments the slightly groggy voice of your homeroom teacher.

>"LET'S GET PUMPED UP!" Present Mic says, revving up the crowd. "ARE ALL THE LITTLE TEAMS READY!!!?? YOU BETTER BE, 'CAUSE HERE'S THE COUNTDOWN, 3!!!!"

"Guys?" You start, feeling the adrenaline start to flow.

>"2!!!!" Present Mic continues.

>"Yeah?" Asks Mina at your side.

>"1!!!!!!!" The Voice Hero shouts, and you can imagine the saliva hitting the mic.

"Thanks for asking for me y'all." You tell them, fixing your grip on Momo's shoes. "Really, thanks. To all of you."

>"<START!!!!!!!>" Present Mic says, with the kind of passion that only a real professional can pour into a single yell.

And with that, the battle is on!...

Which starts with seven horses immediately rushing at Deku's, leaving your, Shoji's, Pony's, Monoma's as the only ones proceeding more cautiously.

Tempted to go after Monoma or Shinzo, but if the former is able to distract bakugo as in canon that will be good for us and the latter is at the other end of the arena so we might get targeted as we go after him. Team Hagakure is worth a good amount of points but isn't that strong. They chose a bad rider, koda's quirk is useless here and Sato can't use his strength to help much from his position in cannon. Only Jiro is a threat.

We need at least 600 points to get a safe place in the finals Targeting team Tetsu×4 would be the easiest one because they have exactly 635 points. But we don't know about their quirks and team Hagakure has less points but will be easier to dodge since the only one with any range between then is Kyoka.

This, not knowing such a strong teams quirks IC while they probably know all of ours is very risky. OOC, the one with the weird face and lady Jesus have perfect quirks for this event, I don't want us to go anywhere near them.

The next best target would probably be team Asui if we can break open Shoji's cage. If not, Kendo's team will also get us to 600.

Waiting for them to all bunch up around deku is a good plan, but it will make us a bigger target. Is it worth risking being ganged up on ?

So rather than using the one time opportunity for easy points by going for the people attacking Izuku, people want to to go for the harder target at the other side of the field who will probably see us coming. What a great plan.

If you want to go for Shinzo's team at least let us take down team hagakure first, that way us passing to the next round will be almost guaranteed if we get both.

With the headband on Deku's head being that much more valuable than anyone else's, and how he managed to snatch a victory from practically nowhere on the race before, it makes perfect sense to try and get the drop on him and his horse before he has time to react.

"That looks like our cue!" You tell your teammates, seeing your predictions unfold in front of your eyes, with everyone gathering around Deku. "I'm taking us closer to Toru's team, it should be the easiest points of the bunch. 'specially if we can catch 'em unawares!"

>"Alright!" Momo says, leaning forwards to make herself easier to carry. "Everyone, do your best to make this work! If you have an idea and it doesn't interfere with the rest of us, don't ask, do it! Got it?! Follow eachother!"

>"Got it!" Mina replies, adjusting her grip and literally taking weight off your back.

"<Aye aye!>" You answer, seeing Shoto nod from the corner of your eye.

Being the front of the horse, you get to drive the team around, and you waste no time in doing so, kicking off towards the quickly growing clusterfuck.

It's a couple of seconds, but it feels far longer, getting close enough to try to take the first headband of the match, but the timing is perfect, as Deku…

He and his team just fly straight up, away from the mob at their feet. Devious.

But you have no time to be impressed, snapping back to what matters, Toru's headband, and its wearer, who stopped dead on her tracks to look up.

>"Kyoka!" The invisible girl commands, evidently trying to take advantage of the reach Kyoka's jacks presented.

>"Yeah, yeah, Got it." Kyoka answers, shooting her jacks up.

Once more, you don't stare, instead, you accelerate...

And then your left foot sinks into the supposedly solid ground, like it was made of pudding.

You feel your joints strain and your forward momentum threatening to sprain your ankle, toppling you and crippling you and your team.

That's not what happens however, as both of your hands are janked to the side, which, combined with a well intentioned knee to the ribs, grants you enough leverage to pivot your weight to your right leg, pulling your foot out of the mysterious sinkhole and allowing you to sprint past your unwitting prey.

>"Got it!" Momo says, quickly taking the headband and rolling it on her hands, putting two headbands on her neck, both of them inside out.

>"Wha?-" Toru suddenly says as she finally sees you pass her by. "Where's...? Give that back! C'mon! Let's get them!"

>"No." Comes Shoto's rather simplistic reply, sliding his foot along the floor and trying to repeat his stunt from the race.

This time though, Daisy's team moves out of the way. The almost the whole team, being mostly shoved away by Iida. The only one who was missing was Daisy himself, before being reeled back by Sero.
>>
But even if it didn't immobilize the biggest threat, you are glad he did, as Hagakure's team is forced to stop chasing you seconds after beginning, as well as delaying Kendo's, Mezo's and a couple other teams you don't recognize, leaving your right side free from any threats-

Then you hear a sound not unlike that of glass shattering a bit above you. Briefly turning your neck to what happened, you are surprised by the sight of Monoma pulling back his empty hand back, transparent pieces of something vanishing and Momo swinging a baton in his direction.

>"At least someone is paying attention." The blonde boy says, not looking particularly bothered by his failed attempt at stealing your headbands.

Just before you return your eyes to the ground in front of you, you manage to catch a glimpse of his neck, and the fact that there's two bands hanging there.

Monoma wants a fight? Fine, lets give him one. His starting headband is worth enough to get us through to the next round anyways.

>[Speed away and make a bit of time. He's a smart guy, with everyone else closer, he shouldn't try to chase you, and it should let you think of your next play.]

Monoma's a cheeky fucker and getting bogged down in a direct confrontation doesn't seem like a great idea when there's still plenty of easy marks.
>>
>>2719804

Scratch that, gonna add somthing to my vote.

You guys do realize we are fucked if he manages to copy Ushi's quirk right? Also on less metagaming note, we shouldn't engage someone who has a quirk , that we don't know what is able to do.

Tactical retreat
>>
>>2719825
I don't see why we should worry, without the finesse dice we have with it, EiBiT isn't that good on battle. Unless Mic confirms he has those I'll stand my ground.
>>
>>2719766
I went back over the math, and we’re already guaranteed at least fourth place. That’s a big deal!

I say we back off and look for a better opportunity.

While we're going, have Momo swap the other headband.
>>
>>2719825

I understand, going with attacking their team without anything extra is probably a bad idea, but I think with a flashbang to blind them or somthing else to stop them reacting we can do this. Plus, by now a number of easier marks have probably lost their headbands.
>>
>>2719831
Monoma seemed pretty descent in using Bakugou's quirk when he copied it from him.

But does enlarging require finesse? He could just make one of the members of his horse grow big or try and shrink someone. But i guess that would be to much metagame knowledge.
>>
>>2719836
That's why we retreat from the cluster fuck and take a acessement of who still has a headband first.
>>
>>2719838
Kirishima’s quirk was originally quite weak, but he trained it up. Monoma was able to use it in its current, powerful form. Monoma gets quite a lot from his Kirby.
>>
>>2719842
>>2719838
Ushi's Quirk is a bit weird in that enlarging consecutive surfaces seems a bit tricky. So if he enlarged his team it is unlikely their clothes or headbands would continue fitting.
>>
>>2719844
That problem was easily solved in the attack to USJ with Momo connecting the people and the blanket by passing a rope between then. Also Ushi quirk effects her clothes normaly while she uses it, so the clothes problem you mentioned won't happen.
>>
>>2719844
Pfft. Would any of his guys even benefit from biggening though?
>>
>>2719847
Everyone could get a boost from being biggening, because that gives a pretty descent stats boost. But i'm more worried with the shrinking part of our quirk being used against us.
>>
>>2719846
What I mean is that I'm pretty sure Ushi said that trick was the result of a lot of practice figuring out how her Quirk can do that.
>>
>>2719768
I want to add:

>ask Mina if she can make acid weak enough to be safe to shoot in people’s faces.

to my vote.

You see, technically, milk is an acid. If we can goop people up with thick, weak acid, then we can do that to EVERYBODY if she’s a giant. Or just stick to tactically going for the eyes on individuals.
>>
>>2719848
Even if he manages to grab us we can just undo it ourselves. Risky yes but not as much as you make it to be, someone like Bakugo would be more dangerous.
>>
>>2719768
>>[Speed away and make a bit of time. He's a smart guy, with everyone else closer, he shouldn't try to chase you, and it should let you think of your next play.]

I want to attack Shinsou next.

I think right now we're probably already third, if not second place. From canon, it's likely the other contenders are Daisy and Shinsou's teams.

Since picking a fight with Bakugou isn't exactly the best idea, at least, not until later in the round, I want to go for Shinsou. Especially since we could also help Pony who's mindwhammied right now. And perhaps learn of his brainwashing sooner?
>>
>>2719871

How the hell are we gonna learn about his quirk without at least one member of our team getting brainwashed? If we can't learn that there's nothing we can do to help pony either.
>>
>>2719871
Because he only needs to talk to us to brainwash us I suggest we don't. Unless it looks like he isn't paying attention and we can attack him from behind we have no reason to suspect he is anything but a bag of points or a potential rival.

>>
>>2719916
He needs us to talk to him, not the other way around.
One of our team could also probably snap us out of it pretty easily.
>>
>>2719849
Monoma copied our quirk once. Maybe he practiced with it of screen?

>>2719871
Nah if we want to learn about his brainwashing we just need to wait and talk with Pony to notice it. Maybe she won't give up lile the others did in canon, because she is just that innocent

You don't know what was the deal with the vanishing glitter dust, but you don't really care all that much about that, starting to run towards the edge of the arena, away from the chaos in the middle.

Having to run as a six legged unit, you can't just kick into high gear without risking tripping, allowing Monoma and his horse to chase you while you are building up speed.

Whatever it was that got shattered, Momo got it handled. What worries you is your horse and it's sheer power, and that you aren't sure how'd you deal with Monoma copying any of your quirks.

Wait. FUCK!

"MOMO! GLOVES!" You suddenly yell, glancing over your shoulder and seeing Monoma take a lower swipe at Momo. "<DON'T LET HIM GET HIS MITTS ON YOU!>"

It's always weird to see things pop out of her skin, but you still feel relieved at the sight of what looks like a pair of long oven mitts covering her arms before Monoma's hand can scrape against her arm.

>"Mittens? How quaint..." Monoma says as his hand bounces off Momo's mitts

You almost allow yourself to smile, but the boy's own smug smile keeps you on edge as he reaches for Shoto's neck on the downswing.

>"I hoped you wouldn't notice our approach… But it doesn't really matter in the end." He boasts. "All it shows is that you aren't as self absorbed as those brats over there, but we already knew that."

Fortunately for your team, Shoto kicks the ground and pushes you forward, almost making you lose your footing but getting out of the way as you take the chance to build up speed and get away from the fray.

"I reckon that went as good as it was gonna be.

>"What does his quirk do?" Shoto asks as soon as your pursuers lose interest and return to the fray.

"Copies your quirk if he touches you. That's all Ah know." You say, unable to explain what you don't know. "Saw him use mine once in the cafeteria, and it didn't seem like he had a hard time figuring "Everything is Bigger in Texas" out."

>"That would have been problematic." Momo comments. "Making what I'm used to making with my "Creation" has takes years of practice, but simple materials and shapes aren't particularly difficult."

>"Good thing he didn't get Todoroki then! That would have been a lot of damage." Mina adds, sending shivers up your spine.

You really doubt Monoma would have doubted in using fire against you, even if it couldn't be a direct hit.

>"I wonder if he would turn pink after copying mine. Or melt his clothes off." She continues a second later, sounding genuinely curious. "Acid does that sort of stuff."

There's an awkward pause after that, which you use to get your bearings.

You managed to get far enough to get a decent view of what's going on in the center of the arena, and to listen to the announcers.

>"NO MATTER WHERE YOU CHOOSE TO LOOK, THERE'S TWO TEAMS TRYING TO STEAL EACH OTHER HEADBANDS!!" Present Mic's voice blasts through the speakers. "EVEN IF GOING FOR THE BIG 10000000 WOULD GET YOU FIRST PLACE HERE, AIMING FOR THE SECOND, THIRD AND FOURTH PLACES IS ALSO VALID WAY TO GET IN THE THIRD EVENT!!!"

The first thing to catch your eye is Daisy, as he rocketeers up, trying to get to Deku's airborne team only to get intercepted by Dark Shadow, who doesn't take the resulting blast all that well, almost unraveling from the point of impact.

Near them you can see how true Present Mic words were, as most teams engage one another with caution, trying to keep their horses together and take the opponents' headbands without letting them reach theirs, like Tetsu's and Shoji's team, with Ibara's vines competing against Tsuyu's tongue to grab their headbands from afar, while their horses try to reposition themselves to get an edge.

Others however, like Toru's and the Black Haired class B girl you don't know's teams, are purely on the offensive, having lost their starting headbands. With nothing to lose, Toru's team has no qualms harassing Itsuka, who seem to try to get away from them, nor does the Black Haired girl and her team to chase after Monoma, who seems to have a third strip of cloth hanging from his neck.

Yet there's a couple of teams who don't seem particularly active, with Pony's team going at a gentle pace around the center of the arena and a team of class B boys near them running in a seemingly random direction.

Then Shoto breaks the ice.

>"We need Midoriya's headband." He states, and a quick glance confirms that he is still watching Deku's team, weaving in the air once more after a brief landing. "There is no other way to get the first place."

>"Did you hear Present Mic?" Momo calls him out. "It would be nice, but we don't really need to get the first place. Besides, it would be impossible to get to Midoriya's headband, overcome Tokoyami's quirk and protect the points we already have at the same time."

>"Oh! I can think of something…" Mina says, poking you in the ribs with her elbow. "You know exactly what I'm thinking about!"

"Well, it's not too high…" You reply. Deku may be about 40 feet up, but you are pretty sure that you could get them if you go as big as you can… "But they have some dang good maneuverability."

Then you notice a black mass rushing your way from the front right, followed by Denki's team.

"We've got company!" You yell, kicking off the ground and stomping off, forcefully dragging your team the first few steps.

>"Why are we running?" Mina asks as you try to veer away from your new foes.

"Take a gander gal! They have no headbands!" You answer, trying to make out what the black mass in front of Denki is.

As they all correct their course to meet you, you can't help but get a closer look.

"Aww…" You let out, managing to see what the black mass was made of.

About eight foot-sized, fairy-like shadowy beings with wide white smiles and wide, vacant white smiles. They seem to be made from the same ink-like darkness as Dark Shadow, so dark that they seem to meld together when close enough, but tiny and cute.

>"You are cute!" One of them says, sounding like an adorable little kid.

>"Give us your clothes!" Another one adds, sounding just as cheerful as the previous one.

>"Too upfront dude, too upfront." Denki chastises the support kid making the front of his horse, wearing those blocky gloves you saw earlier.

>"HEADBANDS! meant.. headbands" The support kid making up the front of the horse says, obviously short of breath. Th-those… things they don't… they don't represent… me."

>"All of them!" The little monsters say as they rush you, jumping at you.

They are pretty damn fast, but not enough. In fact, you could easily say they have the worst speed possible, as even as you pull the hardest curve you can without tearing your horse apart two of them manage to fall at your feet, getting trampled.
Before you can freak out about stepping on someone much smaller than you, they squeak like a chew toy and poof out of existence.

>"Well, that didn't work." Denki comments, extending an arm towards you and pointing his glove at Momo.

An instant later, a sound similar to a BB gun going off reaches your ears, at the same time as a wave of cold air does.

Looking at the source, you can't be more glad to have Shoto on your team, as a wall of ice now stands between you and Denki's team, with a pair of cables stuck in the middle, tethered to the glove on Kaminari's hand on one end and to a pair of sparkling gator clamps on the other.

>"I'm telling you! How am I supposed to compete with that guy!?" Denki bemoans, trying to pull the cables of his glove free.

>"They have no points, we should not waste any time on them." Shoto states, as if it was nothing. "Let us go for the big prize."

Reliable (2) lets us pick one die after the fact. To turn this into triple tens we would need reliable (3) and have called 10, or have reliable (4).

So, we pick between either double 10 or triple eight, unless one is strictly better, in which case Mic auto-picks the better one.

Shoto wants to go for the big fish and Momo thinks it'd be nice.
And Mina… Mina just wants to stomp around.

And who are you to hold your friends back?

"Alright!" You say, looking up and around at your team as you leave the ice wall behind. "We're goin' for broke here then!"

>"I assume we'll be using your quirk to reach them?" Momo asks for confirmation as she throws her mitts away.

"'yuup! Once we get close enough, it'll be your turn, Mina! And if you can slime the floor without melting anyone, that'd be cool too!" You answer, instinctively lowering your head as you charge towards the middle of the fray.

>"YES!" The pink girl says, looking as happy as you expected her to be, flat out euphoric. Then she asks something that baffles you. "Now how will you get the headband?"

"...You snatch 'em off the air and we take the headband?" You reply, already knowing that it won't be that easy.

>"C'mon Ushi! only the rider can use her hands in a cavalry battle! It's in the rules!" Mina says, in the same tone you'd use to explain to a child why one plus one doesn't make eleven. "I mean, you can hold your teammates, but not touch anyone else! Unless you wanna ram them. You can do that."

"It's a japanese team game! How would I know anything about it?!" You argue back, trying to rush down the best path possible to Deku's shadow, avoiding pits, pools of hardened goop and sinkholes.

>"Crap… Sorry?" Mina replies, her smile faltering for an instant.

"Forget about that, how are we going to do this? Pop up and look down on 'em till they hand the headband?" You say, shaking your head.

>"We can handle that." Shoto assures you. "You do your part, we will do ours."

>"If you can get me up there, I think I can take care of the headband..." Momo says, dragging the last syllable as she focuses on something.

>"I'll make sure no one can get on to us!" Mina adds, and you can immediately see how her pants start smoking below her knees, quickly disappearing and letting her leave a trail of slime down her glistening calves, dense enough to fall in dollops at times. "I think saliva levels of acid shouldn't really hurt anyone, right? It's barely melty at all."

Eventually, after a minute of staying out of everyone's way, you manage to get face to face with Kirishima, Iida and Sero, with the later reeling their rider back.
It's unfortunate, but if you are to enlarge Mina, you have to fix your grip and let both Shoto and Momo get ready.

>"Hey, those are a lot of headbands! Good work!" The redhead comments, with his sharp smile.

>"DON'T CHEER FOR THE ENEMY, DUMBASS!" Daisy says as he pretty much crashlands back onto his horse. "AND DON'T YOU THINK I'VE FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU OR YOUR POINTS BRISKETS! ICYHOT AND PONYTAIL BITCH TOO!"

>"What about me?" Mina asks, and you can feel the weight change distribution on your back.

>"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!" The foul mouthed boy asks.
>>
>"...That's a bummer. USHI! DO THE THING!" Mina shouts, annoyingly loud for someone right next to you.

"My pleasure!" You reply, enjoying the look of utter confusion on the boys in front of you as took hold of Mina's hand and send all the mass you could afford without shrinking yourself.

As expected, Mina's explosive growth lifted a ring of dust with its shockwave but, more importantly, as you cling to the now giant pink gal's left shoulder, you can see Deku and his team struggling to regain control after the shockwave destabilized them.

After radically changing your horse configuration on the fly, Momo ended between Mina's horns and Shoto on her right, letting you look down at your classmates, wobbling in the air.

>"Deku! We've got to land!" You hear Ochaco say as they rock back and forth.

"Howdy!" You hail her from your pink perch.

>"Your time is up. We are taking that." Shoto adds.

>"That's right! RUN AWAY! Ufufufu!" Mina says, enjoying her new imposing size and winding her head back for a headbutt.

>"Too slow, Uraraka! Drop us!" The boy says, turning off his jetpack.

And as you expected, his plan works, dropping down too fast for Mina to bump them.

Then Momo jumps off Mina's head and dives down for the headband, with her only safety net being a flashlight and a rubbery rope looped around one of Mina's horns and tethered to a new harness on her back.

It actually looks like what Daisy and Sero were doing!

Except that Daisy never ended hanging from Sero's tape.

...nor did they ever get the headband, currently hanging from Momo's hand.

>"I need a hand!" Momo says as she flips the headband inside out and puts it around her neck, causing you and Shoto to grab her impropentu bungee rope and start pulling her back up.

Then everyone seems to realize what's going on, as Tsuyu's tongue flies inches away from Momo's head. Luckily, most teams wisely prefer to back away from the rapidly growing iridescent lagoon at Mina's feet, but your least favorite, rocket-powered asshole doesn't need to stand close to try to steal your headband.

>"I'M NOT RANKING UNDER ANY OF YOU AGAIN!" He screams as he approaches.

With Shoto needing a surface to freeze and sprout Ice from, you without any mass left, Momo hanging like a piñata and Mina unable to swat him with her hands, that may be a problem.

>What do you do?

Simple solution: Have Mina scoop grab Momo and wrap her up in her giant hands, take a deep breath, and blow Daisy away. Hopefully she can knock him to the ground, but more than likely Sero will catch him and reel him in first. But that keeps him back and Momo impervious to losing any bands.
>>

I will agree with >>2723710

>Shrink Momo and the rope

By shrinking them, the rope will become shorter, lifting her up to us, and away from Bakugou.

Plus, any plan involving our quirk gets juicy reliable dice.

Though frankly, Mina should be able to elbow-block or knee-block Bakugo. Or just turn and swing Momo around. But we’re not Mina.

There's not much you can do, really.

Even as he flies in an incredibly predictable path, you can't do anything to stop nor counterattack Daisy's rocket charge, and even after weeks of going to bed with your arms numb thanks to your training, you don't think you can just pull up Momo faster than a living rocket can ascend.

"Shoto!" You call, getting your friend's attention. "Let go of the rope, sugar! I need you to go untie it, I got this handled!"

>"Okay." You aren't really sure what to feel about his lack of hesitation, but it sure as hell is useful right now, letting go of the rope and immediately reaching up to unravel the knot around Mina's horn. No time to hesitate.

You know you are able to shrink Momo by shrinking the rope and reaching her through it, but pulling that kind of stunt took you years to use realiably, and you don't have the time to mentally filter Shoto and Mina when reaching to the things the rope is connected to.

The moment Shoto unties the knot, you are hit by the sudden reality of what happens when you try holding someone heavier than you at such an awkward angle, easily toppling your poor balance.

Then a pair of arms wraps around your waist, holding you back. You don't even think about it, he's got your back.

With Shoto keeping you from falling on your face, you close one eye, stick out your tongue and will your quirk to shrink not only what you are holding, but the harness at the end of the rope and the girl held by it, stopping the moment the rope is too thin for your current grip to let all five fingertips of either of your hands to touch at the same time.

As expected, shrinking to rope not only turned it into a particularly resilient piece of string, but it also shortened it quickly and significantly, pulling the doll sized Momo closer to your perch and away from Daisy.

It may not be particularly heroic but you can't not revel in his visible frustration, as he starts running out of juice and slowing down, unable to reach his objective.

Gloating is even less heroic, but you can't help yourself, twirling your wrist and pulling Momo all the way up with a single movement, spinning like a yo-yo till her tiny, bound body lands in your hand.

"MINE!" You yell at the falling mass of rage in human form falling down, donning a wide smile until you can't distinguish his face.

Only then do you allow yourself to gasp for air.

After what you did during the race with Mineta and Iida, enlarging Mina and now shrinking Momo, you start feeling the effects of your quirk on your body, as you feel yourself sweating more than what just running would cause and your stomach demands a snack.

Considering you aren't shaking and you can only see one Momo, you aren't all that bad.

>"Ushi? This is getting creepy." Momo says, reminding you that you just spent a couple of seconds staring at her in silence with your tongue sticking out.
>>
File: Ink Mic.jpg (228 KB, 1024x1493)
228 KB

You take a step away from Shoto and return your tongue into your mouth, wiping your mouth with the back of your free hand.

"Gosh, you are adorable." You tell her, looking at the tiny girl rolled up in rope, unable to move her arms.

>"I feel sick…" She says as you hold her in your hand. "That wasn't a good plan, I didn't think about what would happen after getting the headband."

>"Hey, it worked! But stay away from my horns next time. It's... pretty uncomfortable. Now… Ahem." Mina cheers her up, before happily stomping on the growing pool of glistening liquid under her shoes and splashing it around the arena. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR!!!!!"

Looking down, most horses are broken down and trying to regroup thanks to Mina's slippery acid, with the only groups that don't seem to be having mayor troubles with the acid getting strewn around being Tetsutetsu's, with the acid near them turning into mud, Monoma's, with what looks like panels of floating glass blocking the splashing acid before it can get to them as they get closer to you. Pony's team seems to just be biding their time, hanging by the edge of the arena once more.

And Deku's... Thanks to Mei's gadgets, floating over the puddles as they circle Mina, obviously looking for a weak point.

Daisy's team though, seems to be mostly avoiding it the hard way, dodging, which still got Kirishima's hair wet and sticking to his hea-

"Well, <butter my butt and call me toast>, ain't that somethin'" You say, as Monoma swipes the headband right off Daisy's forehead, right before your eyes.

One second, he's yelling at his team and the next, they are all yelling at the smug blonde.

>"<No>. And what happened?" Shoto asks, holding a hand to Mina's neck and peeking down next to you.

>"Can you untie me, please?" Momo asks, wiggling in your hand. "And return me to size. That'd be nice too."

"Remember the boy who copies quirks? He got Daisy's headband and ran...!" You tell them, observing the teams in question. "...And he just stopped to gloat. Fuck. Why do people do that? It never pays out!"

You can't hear what they are saying, nor really identify their facial expressions, but you can't think of any other reason for him to stay near Daisy after taking his points.

But whatever it may be that he's saying, it's getting Daisy to target him and thus keeping busy one of the main threats to your victory.

>"... THE LEAD SHIFTS!! FROM THE PREVIOUS HOLDER OF THE 10000000 POINTS TO THE CRAZY TEAM WHO DASHED IN AND TOOK THEM AND IS CURRENTLY MAKING A MESS OF THE ARENA, TO THE PURSUERS THAT HARASSED THEM AND WILL CONTINUE TO, THE TOP DOGS OF CLASS A ARE LEAVING SOME STRONG IMPRESSIONS!" Present Mic says, taking a short pause to breathe before continuing. "SINCE WE ARE HITTING THE EIGHT MINUTES MARK, LET'S SEE HOW MUCH OF A LEAD CLASS A HAS! LET'S PUT IT UP ON THE BIG SCREEN FOR ALL TO SEE!"

In less than a second, said screen flashes to life, showing all team names...
>>
1. (A)Team Yaoyorozu 10001440 P
2. (B)Team Monoma 1700 P
3. (B)Team Tetsutetsu 915 P
4. (B)Team Kendo 380 P

But only the top four have any points at all, and your team is the only one of them from your class.
What happened?...

>"WOAH. DAMN!!! HANG ON A DARN SECOND!!! CLASS A ISN'T LEAVING THE REST IN THE DUST?... WELL, EXCEPT YAOYOROZU. HAVING BOTH OF HER CLASS' RECOMMENDED STUDENTS AND THEIR FOREIGNER IN A SINGLE TEAM SEEMS TO BE WORKING WONDERS FOR HER!!!"

>"HEY!" Mina interjects, pointing a finger straight at the announcers' box. "GIANT RAMPAGING PINK GIRL?! HOW CAN YOU NOT NOTICE THAT!?"

>"...And Ashido too." Mr. Aizawa adds. "There. Are you happy now?"

>"Yep! Carry on!" She says, trying to kick acid at Midoriya and his team, now flying arounD her knees.

>"IT'S JUST… DAMN SON! BAKUGO, WHAT HAPPENED?!" Your english teacher asks.

You then look back down. Not at the floor, but at the VERY determined team ascending in a spiral around Mina.

Good thing you never thought Deku would just give up, or you would be feeling very silly right about now.

1) Return Momo to her correct Size
2) have momo create a weighted net
3) Bait the fliers to a position and drop a grown net upon them

We're not even halfway through the first semester of our first year.

>>

The manga is only in the middle of its third semester of the year. THere's a lot of things going on.
Also we're a student. Why would we have accolades?

Third... semester? Do you mean trimester? Is that how Japanese high schools run shit? Or do you mean they're into their second year of high school? Also, if the QM were running regularly once a week this quest would've gone past the timeline of canon events in the manga months ago.

>Why would we have accolades?
Being young does not prevent you from doing something truly impressive. Yes, the world is full of heroes, but you can still do something that's amazing for a fifteen year old.
>>
>>2728782
yes. Japan has 3 trimesters a year. The manga is either near the end of the summer, or beginning of the winter.

It's illegal to heroism without a licence, which is a end of second trimester development.
>>
>>2728787
>It's illegal to heroism without a licence
Except sometimes some bad shit just comes for your ass and you heroism as a matter of survival. Or you heroism to save someone around you because no one else could've save them. Or what you did did not involve your quirk and you did something awesome like persuade a lifelong villain to atone.

Either way, thank you for answering my questions.
>>
>>2728782
We’re not really doing time-skips. Or at least, fewer and smaller. So of course it’s going to progress slower. But that time is filled in with good stuff (assuming you’re down for slice-of-life, which I am.)

Also, we have done something impressive. We’ve collaborated to make possibly the highest-end robot ever created, not to mention having fought off real villains at USJ.

Though personally, I’d like to see Momo, Ushi, and maybe a few others collaborate to create instant low/no-income housing projects for the city’s homeless.

If you’re not into slice of life that’s fine but it’s not really a failing of writing quality.

She has a shitty attitude, no way would Ushi look up to her. That's not the kind of message Ushi would want to give to all the downtrodden mutants.

True, but, to be fair, Ushi didn't seem to dislike Endeavor until she actually met him and he's famous for having a shitty attitude. Though that could be a character point: Ushi wants to be an All Might to mutants compared to Miruko's Endeavor.

Normally, I resent boiling things down to "muh All Might", but it's more of a comparison than a literal "I'M GONNA BE JUST LIKE ALL MIGHT".

You can barely lie to others, lying to yourself is out of the question.

You are tired, and your body doesn't stop reminding you of the fact that your blood sugar is at the minimum it should be.

Looking down from Mina's shoulders, you can't help but feel distraught at what you see.
While you can, and do admire Deku's dedication to some degree, it's plenty scary when it's aimed your way.

Mina is gleefully thrashing around, her athletic build able to withstand the strain your quirk puts on the body, but it doesn't seem to be nearly good enough. Whenever she kicks their way, they raise higher and change their speed, deftly outmaneuvering her sluggish movements and quickly reaching her waist.

It's not good, and it sends your mind racing. You can't stand the idea of not being able to do anything, being forced to watch.

Maybe Mina could thrash more violently and shake them off, taking them off course, or fry their electronics with her acidic slime?

Maybe Shoto could manage to grow his ice from Mina's jacket and hit them, either weighing them down or shooting them down outright?

Momo… She got the points for you all, you can't ask anymore of her. And at that size, she can't really create anything useful.

>"Are you alright?" Shoto asks over Mina's roars, looking down at Deku's team but sparing a side glance at you. "You are far too quiet."

"I'm just…" You say, thinking about a plausible lie for a heartbeat before slumping forwards and admitting the truth. "Tired. Hungry too, but I guess that's what happens after throwing some tons around."

>"Guard Yaoyorozu, then." He replies, trying to follow Deku's purposefully erratic trayectory. "Keep our points safe and catch your breath. I will take care of them."

"You have a plan, sugar?" You ask him, sharing a glance with your tiny friend in your hands.

>"I will figure something out. Stay back and do not push yourself any further, you have done enough." He tells you, but you aren't convinced.

He has no surface from which to spread his ice from and refuses to use his flames. There's very little he can do.

And you know that Mina can't move any faster, having had to deal with the same sluggishness every time you have enlarged yourself.

The only one that could realistically come up with a plan and put it in motion in the minute you have left is being held between your hands, too small to actually do anything.

"Can you make something for Shoto to grow his ice from?" You ask, bringing Momo close to your face.

>"Uh?" She asks, looking a bit surprised. "Well, normally, yes. Not at this scale however, so it's a rather pointless inquiry."

"Okay then." You say, pinching the tiny rope binding her between your nails, snapping it off and letting it fall to still growing acid lagoon below. "Get to it."

>"While it'd be nice to return to my normal size right now, I'd rather keep everyone on their feet." She replies, stretching her arms.

>"While it'd be nice to return to my normal size right now, I'd rather keep everyone on their feet." She replies, stretching her arms.

"Don't worry 'bout me." You tell her, crouching down and placing her on Mina's shoulder, still holding her in your hand.

Looking past her, Mina and Deku, you catch a glimpse of Monoma, turning his back to Daisy and his team. Grave mistake on his part, as Iida practically blinks forwards. One second ago they were behind them. Now they are yards in front of them…

In an instant, the screen updates itself, showing Monoma's team drop next to all the other teams without points.

You don't really agree with the idea that your class is flat out superior to the others thanks to your field experience, not knowing the other students and what they are capable off. But that doesn't mean it didn't help. You were all put through a gauntlet and met your limits, being forced to fight for your lives.

You aren't meant to go beyond this limit, but you already did it. When push came to shove and you had no other choice but to push forwards or die, you broke that wall and went the extra mile.

This isn't like that, but it doesn't have to be. All that matters is that you know you can do it, you can soldier on for yourself and yours.

You focus on your fingertips and on Momo, forcing yourself to return about the same mass that you took from her earlier. You can correct your margin of error later.

In an instant, a column of mist shoots up in front of you, quickly fading away to reveal the tallest girl in your class.

>"Are you okay?" Momo asks you, getting a slightly shaking thumbs up in return.

"I reckon Ah can be worse." You tell her, looking down at the quickly approaching problem. "Do your thing!"

>"Todoroki! Catch! "With a sharp nod, Momo grabs her forearm and pulls out a crude looking length of rope, splitting into some sort of net on one end, throwing the normal end at Shoto on Mina's other shoulder, who catches it with ease.

After a poor, yet serviceable attempt at cracking it, Shoto shrugs and swings it over his head, circling it over Mina's horns.

It's pretty much what any city-slicker things you should do with a rope to lasso, but you know that now's not the time to correct him. You can give him a lesson on lassoing and whippin' later.

And it's not like he was doing it to show off, as he brings it down like the fist of god when he manages to predict Deku's path, too fast for Dark Shadow to do more than slap the hit slightly off-course, connecting to Fumikage instead of Deku, quickly freezing his chest and arms.

>"DETACH!" The green haired boy yells, being released by his team and taking off with his jetpack before the ice could creep on to him.

>"...re fake!" You hear Mei yell after him.

>"Get them back Deku!" Uraraka cheers him as they drop, slowly descending without the lift provided by the jetpack. "We can't fail now!"
>>
Without the weight of his teammates, he quickly raises up to your level, flying head first towards you and Momo, an arm stretched forwards.

Being part of Momo's horse, you can't touch him with your hands, which leaves you with little option but to step between them, expecting him to crash into you, letting you use your lifetime of withstanding hits for good. Instead, right before he can reach you or Momo, the color red and a wave of heat flashes before you for an instant, making your knees quiver as the sudden firebolt hits Deku's jetpack, seemingly overheating it by the cracking sounds it emits and causing him to start falling, a few yards short of you or your rider.

You sigh in relief and look to your side, eyes wide in shock. Shoto looks as shocked and confused as you are, staring at his left arm, being the first time you've seen him show an overt emotion that isn't anger.

Then you manage to catch a glimpse of Deku as he falls, lifting an arm above his head… and stroke, like he was swimming!

Unlike a swimming stroke, however, the air pressure caused by it not only shoots him forwards and over your heads, but forces the three of you to drop, even causing Mina to stumble.

And, just as he flies over both of you, he reaches for Momo and grabs a headband, pulling it off as he falls, leaving a ringing in your ears.

>"GOT IT!" He yells, as he falls face first, holding the headband he stole from you.

You jump to your feet as soon as you can, looking down to see Deku's free fall being broken by both Uraraka and Dark Shadow, barely gliding over the iridescent slime.

"...Which one he got?" You ask Momo, making her quickly look down at her neck.

>"I don't know how?.." She says, deflating.

The Screen confirms it...

1. (A)Team Midoriya 10000330 P
2. (A)Team Bakugo 1565 P
3. (B)Team Tetsutetsu 1295 P
4. (A)Team Yaoyorozu 1110 P

You put a lot of effort into getting that, everyone did. Maybe that's why you can't recall ever being so frustrated, clenching your fists until your knuckles go cold. You don't even pay attention to Present Mic's grand narration of what you just lived through.

Fucking up is one thing, but as far as you can tell you didn't do anything wrong!

Momo did her best too, putting herself at risk and throwing caution to the wind to get those points, and looking to your side, she looks just as frustrated as you feel.

She's better than you at keeping a lid on it, but she looks like she's about to lie down and die.

Shoto, at the other side of Mina's neck, isn't looking good either. Had you not seen him move his fingers, you would be wondering if he was conscious at all, staring at his arm like that.

All in all, it's a damn pity party over Mina's shoulders.

But the feeling of your nails piercing the skin of your palms jerks you back to the real world, letting you focus on what's going on below you.

Most warhorses can barely be called that anymore, as everyone in the now almost all-encompassing iridescent slime on the arena was either plodding along or just breaking apart, unable to hold their horses and riders together.

Only Kirishima is managing to walk at a decent speed, and it takes you an instant to notice why. Looking behind him, you can see the trenches his feet dug after they recovered their points, explaining why they didn't just slide right into the opposite wall of the arena.

It doesn't matter how slippery the surface is if you are nailing your feet into the ground with each step, it even allows them to break a wave of slime without falling over.

Looking at the waves themselves and down at the pink girl whose thrashing and roaring causes them, you don't see any signs of slowing down in her gleeful face. Sure, she's sweating more than before, but she doesn't seem like she'll fall over any time soon.

Heck, she's having a blast throwing everyone into disarray! With so little time remaining you can't help but chuckle at at the few who still try to reach Mina, and presumably your points at the top.

"Well...That's a bummer. We did our best, let's stay in one piece till this is over, M'kay?" You say out loud, stretching your back.

>"I had the first place, but couldn't hold onto it." Momo says, letting some anger seep into her voice.

"Cheer up sugar! We are still in! Let's just protect our headbands and keep it that way." You reply, giving her a pat on the back. "We'll upstage 'em all in the final round, you just wait!"

>"You are right." She says, returning a small smile and stretching her back. "With the show we've put up, I think we have caught the attention of every professional hero watching. We just need to drive the point home on the last event."

"That's more like it!" You tell her, giving her a thumbs up. "I reckon there ain't many that would try getting our points but…"

>"...There's only four targets with any points to steal. We can't let our guard down." Momo completes your sentence, reaching into her cleavage and pulling out a whip and handing it to you. "I tried to keep it similar to the one you used against Tokoyami during the battle trial, but being unfamiliar with the materials and build, I may have made some mistakes."

You take it without hesitation, rolling the handle in your hand and cracking it straight up. The handle is both rougher and lighter than it should be, making it useless for melee and the whip itself is far too long. But no one should get that close, not with an 18 feet long whip.

"No, you didn't. But thanks for the bullwhip." You tell her, recalling that your costume whip is a blacksnake, a hybrid whip resembling two completely different kinds of whip, but you coil it around your forearm anyway, looking at your other close friend. "...I'll be on the other shoulder."

As she conveniently looks the opposite way, you turn to the other side, towards Shoto.

"Feeling tired yet!?" You ask Mina as you pass behind her ear. "Just a few minutes more!"

>"RA-Oh, a bit, but I gotta enjoy this while I can. Ahem... RAAAWR!" She answers, gleefully making a mess out of everything and everyone.

With that concern laid to rest, you finally make your way to the one who needs you the most, coming to stand next to him and lifting a hand to place on his shoulder. Then you realize that picking a shoulder might have some meaning and let your hands drop to your side.

"Are you okay, sugar?" You ask him, tilting your head and doing your best to convey nothing but concern and care.

>"No…" He replies, clenching his hand into a fist. "I… I said it. I promised to myself I would never attack with it… But when…"

He takes a deep breath and lets his hand drop to his side, his fists still clenched and shaking.

>"I went and did it anyway." He says, sounding… vulnerable, his voice shaky. "I can't continue like this… I fell back into dad's path for me, like he said I would..."

Then you send it all to hell and grab both of his shoulders, interrupting him and looking straight at his eyes.

"Hey, don't get all <mopey-dopey> on me!" You tell him, shaking him a bit. "Look! Can you even see Endeavor from here? I sure as hell can't, and Ah reckon he didn't see not tiny spark either."

>"Does it really matter if he sees it?" He asks back, trying to spot his father's flames in the crowd.

"I think it does, what you are in the dark and all that..." You answer, pulling him close for a short hug, a gesture borne of kindness and the desire to share some human warmth with someone who's clearly shaken. "I won't judge, but I don't want you to judge yourself by what your… dad… thinks of you."
>>
You then wait until he returns the hug, awkwardly placing a hand on your back before you give him a pat in the back and a final squeeze before releasing him and flashing a smile that he returns in kind.

Well, that may be embellishing the truth, but you saw the corners of his mouth pull up a bit, and you aren't picky.

His life is his own, as are his choices, but you can help him face it a little better, and hopefully, with a smile on his face.

"I really hope I didn't muck up the pep talk…" You let out, scratching the back of your neck. and walking the two steps away you can on Mina's shoulder.

>"...It helps." Shoto reassures you.

With that dealt with, you lay down on Mina's shoulder, whipping at those tiny, shadowy creatures that are now trying to climb up Mina's leg. If they didn't slow down so much when they reached her lower back, maybe they would have been a threat instead of a warm up.

Then, when you think is the last minute, you see something… off.

Tetsutetsu seems to be hunkering down now, staying away from Deku and Bakugo, but Pony's team just seems to be walking up to them ...until Pony is hit head on by the acid.

She quickly looks around, her tail sticks to her leg and… then her rider moves a hand, or says something. Then she instantly calms down, takes her position again and continue walking.

You might just be able to do one last thing...

PM said over the announcer that the top 4 teams get through. Only four teams even have points. If we get a headband from them, we’ll have taken first again, but if they get one of ours, the rankings won’t change at all. We did it before, and now their mobility is cut. We can have Mina hold Momo in her hand and swing her over their heads as a pass.

Plus, if we get it, we’ll have time to rest up while all the 0-point teams tie-break for fourth.

Gotta go for glory if we’re going to be an inspiring icon for mutantkind after all. And who’s a bigger billboard for proud mutants than Gigashido?

Guys? We sort of DO have something to prove.

All that bullying in America over our mutations. The people online who see a girl who survived a villain attack and saved her classmates and teacher and think “well of course the cow got hurt. She should quit before she really gets herself in trouble.” or “what a hot piece of meat!” All the little mutant kids who look at the top heroes like All-Might and Endeavor and see that heroes are “real humans.”

They need to see that a mutant can stand with the best of them. Not three places under the best of them.

The world has its eyes on us. We can’t make mutants look like they’re lazy or unfocused.

This world needs a symbol. A symbol of mutantkind. We will become that symbol!

We will use our relationship die with “being a symbol for mutants”.

What’s even the point of having a giant rampaging monster if you don’t point it at something? That’s not very Plus Ultra!
>>
>>2735344
We can prove that in the next trial on the 1v1. There is like three minutes until the cavalary ends and we have already pushed ourselfs and our friends as we can. Let's keep the high ground and advance to truly win in the 1v1 fights.

>[Keep playing defence, you have nothing to prove.]
>While you wait, keep an eye on team tetsu and pony's teams. They're heading for a last minute clash and you know little about their quirks so this should be useful in the next round.

Just in case pony doesn't say anything (she probably will, but a back up plan is good) about the mind control we should watch this last clash closely. We will probably see Shinso's quirk more clearly, might identify it and can work on a countermeasure (something that causes us constant mild pain, like a paper cut, we did see pony break the mind control after bein hit) in case we do get mind controlled

I'd look even worse for us not to get into the next round due to getting greedy and loosing both headbands. As momo says "With the show we've put up, I think we have caught the attention of every professional hero watching. We just need to drive the point home on the last event.".
>>
>>2735504
I don't necessarily disagree, but getting by with our secure fourth place probably appeals more to results oriented heroes like Aizawa that Ushi wouldn't necessarily gel with rather than the bombastic types.

For us I feel like we should be marketing towards the showier heroes.

Oh, you know you can push yourself much farther than this, but there's no point in doing it now, not in the eliminatories.

You love your friends, they are awesome. But that may be playing against you now.
Being recommended students and scions of renowned families, it would be all too easy for the public to believe Momo and Shoto carried you, and maybe Mina, through the event.

No, if you are going to risk pushing yourself to your breaking point again, it'll be at the third and last event when everyone can see your efforts and faults as your own.

Instead, you keep doing what you were doing for the last dozen seconds, returning to Momo's side and lashing your whip at the two remaining shadowy creatures climbing over Mina's leg.

You vividly recall stepping on two until they were no more, and four more just met their end at the slicing cracker of your whip.

...Hold on, weren't there eight of them!?

You just manage to turn around to see another one climb up Mina's side, reaching her shoulder from under her arm.

The little critter finishes it's ascent and looks around, finally waddling up between you and Momo, falling down on its face.

"Gosh, ain't you adorable." You say, looking at the thing from as much of a prudent distance as your cramped station would allow.

>"IT'S NEARLY OVER!!! JOIN ME ON THE COUNTDOWN, LISTENERS!!!" You hear Present Mic's voice blast over the speaker system. "TEN!"

>"...Enough for a hug?" The creature asks back, sounding so sweet and innocent, far too much. It's actually a bit creepy.

>"NINE!!!" The Voice Hero continues.

"Nope!" You answer. You can hug whoever you want, but very few have ever tried to hug you with idle hands.

>"EIGHT!!!" Your english teacher continues his countdown.

>"...Motorboat?" The critter asks, bobbing in place and swinging its tapered tail from side to side.

>"SEVEN!!!" Present Mic shouts, like clockwork.

"...You really don't know how to haggle." You say, feeling its childish voice send shivers down your spine. "Christ, why are shadows so creepy?"

>"SIX!!!" The announcer continues.

>"...What even is that thing?" Momo asks, turning around to see what's the fuzz about. "And why is it so disrespectful?"

>"FIVE!!!" Present Mic shouts, but the crowd starts joining in this time.

"Hell if I know. Ah didn't think you could be stupid enough to think that'd work and still be able to walk upright." You answer shrugging. "Still, it's tiny and harmless enough. Kinda don't wanna hurt it on the last minute, you know?"

>"FOUR!!!!" The crowd shouts, spearheaded by the announcer.

>"...Milki-?!" It tried to ask, before being interrupted. By your foot.

"<GOAL!!!>" You shout, seeing the damn thing fly right between Mina's horns.

>"THREE!!!" Roars the crowd, almost out shouting the speakers.

Then you hear the sound of velcro being ripped open behind you, so you turn around and look at Momo, who looks over her shoulder in shock, seeing the last of the creatures jump off Mina with a headband in its hand.

>"Huh. It seems like it was a distraction." Momo says, staying completely calm.

>"TWO!!" The crowd continues, matching Present Mic's speakers in their excitement.

"...The fake one?" You ask for confirmation, looking at her now bare forehead.

>"Indeed." She answers, following the creature's path with her eyes, up to the point it splashes in the acid and splatters against the ground beneath it, poofing out of existence.

>"ONE!" You hear their voices reaching the peak of their excitement.

"Someone's gonna feel real silly, real soon." You comment, looking down at Denki, who seems to be genuinely euphoric over his new headband, waving it over his head before putting it around his neck, just in time for Present Mic's last shout.

>"<TIME UP!!!>" Present Mic shouts, louder than the crowd.

Looking down for the last time, you can see the results of Daisy's last ditch attempt at getting Deku's headband, as he falls of the air into the glistening slime, sliding a whole two yards before stopping, making bubbles and foam appear next to his head.
And even though you can't possibly hear what he's doing to cause that, you'd bet he's screaming in rage.
...It's not that much of a gamble, really.

But with the cavalry battle over, you need to go back to ground level, so you walk up to Mina's ear and put your hand against her neck.

"Sorry gal, gotta get you back to cute size." You tell her, looking at the mess you helped her made out of the arena. "But it'd be nice if you could take a step away from the center of this stuff first."

>"...It was fun while it lasted." She says with a sigh, acquiescing to your request and taking a step towards a cleaner area. "Moving feels like swimming in mayo though."

Once there, you focus on shrinking her slowly, as to not tire yourself more than needed and giving you, Momo and Shoto time to jump off.

>"NOW, SHALL WE SEE WHO OUR TOP FOUR ARE?!!!" Present Mic asks, pumping up the crowd.

>"IN FIRST PLACE, TEAM MIDORIYA!!!" He announces, finally letting the green haired boy relax.

For like half a second, then Uraraka hugs him, getting him to stand stiff like a broom handle and paralyzing him faster than any snake you know of. Mei seems far more worried about her damaged jetpack than her score, while Fumikage tries to step away from their emotional moment.

>"IN SECOND PLACE, TEAM BAKUGO!!!" Present Mic continues.

This one is less happy, although it's not Sero's fault. He seems pretty happy with his performance, as does Iida as they shake hands. Kirishima looks worried though, walking up to Daisy and lifting him off the slime.

>"...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!..." Daisy continues, managing to show more more teeth than you thought human beings even had.

>"...That's it, man. Scream it out." The redhead says after a second, giving him an uncertain pat on the back.

>"IN THIRD PLACE, TEAM TETSUTE-" The announcer says, before being interrupted by a loud cough.

>"You might want to actually read the scores before finishing that, Mic." Mr. Aizawa comments.

>"BAH, WHAT COULD… HUH!? TEAM SHINSO TAKES THE THIRD PLACE!.. AND I HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW OR WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN, BUT THE HEADBANDS' CHIPS CAN'T LIE SO… <CONGRATULATIONS, I GUESS!!!>" Present Mic says, sounding fairly confused.

And you can't blame him, you were looking down most of the time and you don't know either!

>"AND IN FOURTH PLACE, TEAM YAOYOROZU!!!" Present Mic finishes, much to Denki's confusion.

"Turn it upside down sugar!" You tell him, seeing him look perplexed at his "710" points headband.

>"<OIL?>" He reads outloud, slumping his shoulders and letting it fall to the ground. "A fake headband? That's ...dirty."

"Hey, we didn't make the rules." You tell him, smiling smugly and shrugging. "There weren't even that many, we just did what we could, ain't that right, Momo?"

>"Indeed. Although it does feel like it wasn't in the spirit of the game." She answers, taking the real headband off her hair and handing it to you, allowing you to return it to its normal size and show it for all to see.

>"It would have been foolish to not use every advantage we could." Shoto comments.

>"I just wonder what kind of fight we'll be in next!" Mina says, sounding as upbeat as ever.

>"NOW, ALL OF YOU WHO WILL MOVE ON TO THE FINAL EVENT, PLEASE STEP FORWARD!!!" Present Mic says. "LET THE CROWD SEE YOU!!!"

So you do just that. All sixteen of you take a couple steps away from the losers, basking in the clapping and cheering of the crowd. Some took it humbly, like Momo, Shoto and Deku, others, like you, Mina and Kirishima, didn't waste a perfectly good chance to wave and pose. Some others, particularly Pony, Aoyama and some kid you had never seen, look just confused.

>"THE EVENT WILL BE AFTER AN HOUR LONG LUNCH BREAK! WHILE WE GET SOME BAKING SODA AND SOMEONE TO CLEAN THIS MESS!!! SEE YOU THEN, EVERYBODY!" Present Mic finishes, and the crowd starts leaving the stadium. "YO, ERASERHEAD, LET'S GO GET SOMETHING TO EAT!"

>"I'm going to take a nap." Your homeroom teacher replies.

You wonder if they know that the mics are still on.

>"HWAHAHA! Not right now you don't." Your english teacher says.
A second later, the the speaker system blasts the sound of a chair hitting the floor, followed be the sound of something being dragged away.

It leaves you, Mina and Shoto looking at each other in awkward silence and confusing Momo, who had gone to return the headbands.

>"...So!" Mina says, trying to break the ice. "Lunch Rush's or Festival Food? I mean, Lunch Rush's stuff is freaking great, and incredibly cheap, but you can't get festival food every day... Hmmm..."

"Wrong question!." You reply, walking towards the exit, seeing a robot handing towels there. " both. "The real one is which one first! An hour's enough time for both!"

>"Would you mind staying here for a couple minutes?" Shoto then asks, placing his hand on your shoulder. "There is a few things I need to talk about."

He looks… not quite like his emotionless resting face, but actually serious.

"Huh. Yeah, sure." You answer, wondering if it's related to that firebolt up there.

>"Hey, Momo!" Mina suddenly says, grabbing her by the wrist and dragging her off into the mob of students. "We should hurry! You.. uhm… You know how fast they run out of desserts!"

>"Wait here for a minute. There is someone else who needs to hear this." Shoto tells you, disappearing as well.

You then stay there, leaning against the inner wall of the exit gate as your fellow students go out, many taking towels to wipe the slime off themselves. Luckily for all involved, the slime was too thick to get into the gym uniforms, so no one should need to change.

By the time you see Shoto again, even the robot had left, leaving only both of you and Deku, who was coming behind him.

>"So… What's it? You said you wanted to tell me something?" The green haired boy says, looking even more nervous than normal. "If we take too long, there won't be any seats left…"

"Or good chow." You add, waving at them from your wall. "Howdy."

>"Huh… Hey there, Walker." He says, waving back.

>"Back up there, right before you took the headband…" Shoto says, walking next to you and leaning against the wall by your side. "I broke my own promise, and used my left side. I haven't seen what a direct hit from your quirk can do, but I've saw what all All Might's did back at USJ."

"Oh.That." You say, sighing in relief. "I was wondering when we'd do this."

>"What?" Deku asks, not looking any less nervous, but looking confused as well now. "I don't get it."

You are spent and hungry, yet here you are, leaning against a wall next to one of your dear friends confronting who might be your most neurotic classmate.

Sure, getting out and getting some grub might feel like the best dang thing you could do, and that means cutting to the chase and being direct about it. Tell him what you know and getting him to spill the beans.

But your mood, no matter how hungry or even angry you might be, shouldn't spill over to how you treat others. Family is a dear and personal thing to you, it wouldn't be right to just throw accusations at him, even if they aren't baseless ones.

"Look sugar, we are all emitters here. I'm sure you've picked up our own signals. And yours… It feels just like All Might's, it's what I'm sayin'." You say, trying your best to to be non offensive. "Man also has his eyes on you and takes you for lunch, so we know there's something there... Are you All Mights secret lovechild? Cousin?... Incredibly young sibling? Or something else?"

You can't help but recoil a bit at his reaction, as Deku's eyes shoot wide open and his irises shrink to little green dots.

>"OR ELSE!" He instantly answers, quickly trying to put on a poker face and failing miserably, trying to explain something with his hands that looks less like Iida's body language and more like a seismometer having a seizure. "I mean those are all wrong but if there was a connection-"

"It's okay sugar." You interrupt him with a shrug before he can have a panic attack or something. "You don't have to tell us any details if you don't want to, right Shoto?"

Your friend just looks at you pensively and nods, then looks again at the floor, sighing.

>"...Why are you... " Deku tries to ask, taking a second to collect his thoughts before speaking again, shifting his gaze from you to Shoto and viceversa everytime one of you does so much as blink. "Why are we doing this now?... Or at all, then?"

Sighing once more, Shoto passes is hand through his hair and looks up.

>"Because I think I owe both of you an explanation, and needed to clear that up first, else what I am about to say would not make sense." He starts, looking at both you and Deku in turns. "You undoubtedly know about my father, Endeavor."

>"Of course." Deku says, sounding a bit more calm now, back to his comfort zone of hero trivia. "Never met him though."

"It's better that way, trust me." You say, doing little to keep your disdain for the man hidden.
>>
>"He has been the No. 2 Hero for… well, as anyone has bothered to track anyway. He has not moved from that position in over a decade." Shoto explains, getting approving nods from Deku and an acknowledging head tilt from you. "It was his relentless determination and ruthless efficiency that quickly brought him there, but no matter how many cases he solved, how many rampages he stopped, he never managed to move a single centimeter closer to All Might, and eventually he had to acknowledge that he would never surpass him."

"...I've yet to hear what this has to do with Deku." You point out, trying to cover the noises your stomach is making with the sound of your voice. "Or me."

>"I am getting to it." Shoto says, motioning for you to simmer down with his right hand. "What do you know about "Quirk Marriages"?

Oh. Oh.
You have done your homework, you know what those were.

A horrible thing that you are glad is gone. A loveless marriage? Being practically sold for breeding!? Few things could conjure a worse mental image for you.

"Modern eugenics." You answer, almost whispering and hoping he was just going off on a tangent. "A thing of the second and third generations after quirks started showing up… Things were mad back then."

>"Eugenics? Yes, I suppose that term fits. Conjures an appropriate image as well, of the times such things were first tried. "Shoto says, looking at his hand.

The right one this time.

>"Finding a mate with the sole purpose of enhancing your own quirk… going as far as forcing marriages for that purpose." He continues, looking mad for an instant. Then he looks at you and sighs, continuing with a sad tone. "Being rich and powerful, my father easily ingratiated himself to my mother's family and… Acquired her quirk. My brothers, my sister and I, we were all conceived for the sole purpose of surpassing All Might."

If your face doesn't look at least as half as horrified as Deku's right now, you'd be disgusted with yourself. The mere idea that people would still do such horrible things…

If that's how his family came to be, Shoto's state of mind is nothing short of a miracle in your eyes. You don't know how your life would be without Momma and Pa's support, nor you want to know.

Yet it seems to be worse as he brings his left hand to his left eye, and the scar around it.

>"You probably wondered at some point how I got this scar, especially on my left side. "He says. "It was water. "His left side… is unnerving…" I heard my mom say before she poured it on. I still do not know what to feel about that, but I have never been able to blame her. I can only guess she snapped that day. After all, I can't recall a single memory where she's not crying. I hope my hatred for my old man feels justified now."
>>
>"My plan was to beat you, Midoriya, without using his quirk. Being related to All Might, I would prove to my dad that I would become the number one hero without acknowledging him, denying him his desired place in history, hence the war declaration. I want to apologize for that. If we are to face each other in the final event, I would like to face you Midoriya, not All Might's shadow." Shoto concludes, collapsing against the wall. "And Ushi… I just thought it would have been unfair to let anyone else know all this before you. Sorry for dragging you into more of my problems, you can go have lunch now, if you want to."

>What do you do?

We still have stain
Then kamino

Endeavor likely will. Maybe Mt Lady. other than that, i don't know.

>[Hug him. If there was ever someone who needed a hug, it's him, right now. "It'll be okay. You aren't your old man."]
Hugs are the right answer.
>>
>>2742070
Mount lady probably fucking hates us
We're moving in on her niche with added mutant and gaijin niches while out right slaughtering her in the sex appeal department. We can kill her career
>>
>>2742070
I'm hoping for Mt Lady, I think we could have a really fun dynamic with her.
>>2742076
Ushi really doesn't go for the whole sex appeal thing.
Plus her Max size is bigger than ours.
She's a decent person over all.
>>
>>2741811
>[Quirk Marriage? This... This is scary stuff. "...Do you... Do you think that's why your father took an interest in me?"]

Ushi's Quirk is almost a perfect fusion of her parents', so it probably looks like the result of a Quirk Marriage to Endeavor. But was that intentional, or a happy accident?
>>
>>2742056
After the sports festival we've got final exams, summer camp, Kamino, the provisional license exam, and the Yakuza arc. After that is when we see Endy starting to cool off.

As for internships, Ryukyu is one of Ushi's favorites as I recall. From a meta perspective, though, getting involved in the Yakuza shit would actually be kind of a drag. Alternatively, Miruko could lead to some good development for Ushi as it puts her face-to-face with someone who's exactly where Ushi wants to be, but not who she wants to be.

But the clear choice is the TRUE #1 hero, the REAL symbol of peace: Wash

I'm still up for that Edgeshot intership that was suggested in early threads, he's quite competent and a damn ninja, and we could learn something from the way his quirk works, wouldn't you like to see Ninja!Ushi? I don't think he does internships tho but maybe Midnight has him as a contact and can ask him some favors, for the old times sake if you know what am sayin'
>>
>>2742164
I think the lady with snakehair could be interesting, get some face dice and learn how to work PR. Ushi's gonna need it to become a symbol of the downtrodden.
>>
>>2742165
Yeah...we should pribably focus on the face dice...also it makes sense for her do it since a lot of bovine mutants would probably appreciate someone showing stuff they could use.
>>
Ushi gets an internship with Midnight, most of which consists of Midnight trying and probably failing to make her a bit less dense about all things social.
>>
>>2742448
I be down with that. I like Midnight a lot and she'd teach us how to fight without brute force.
>>
>>2742448
>>2742520
You can't intern with teachers guys.
>>
>>2742448
Midnight would probably be Ushi's first pick, but
1) I don't know if Midnight is interested in bringing on minors to her team
2) It probably wouldn't look good if the big-boobed American girl went straight to working with Midnight
3) I'm pretty sure Midnight is off of active hero duty while she's teaching
>>
>>2742555
Why is that?
>>
>>2742568
It's a rule to allow students to get a feel of different heroes as well as to not keep then to integrated to the school.

I believe All Might told Deku about that when he asked why he couldn't do a intership with him.
>>
>>2742563
Gran Torino was off active duty too
>>
>>2742579
Nepotism was clearly at play there, as well as training All Might's successor. It was a heavy exception.

>>
>>2742600

If there was ever someone who needed a hug, it's him, right now… Even as he is starting to stiffly slide down the wall. Sure, Deku's watching you, but he's never been anything but a nice guy.

Even if he's currently making the whole gate smell like teenage boy, fear and sweat.

So you roll back your shoulders to separate yourself from the wall and… And Deku is already blushing and looking up and away.

Still, once your back isn't touching the wall you reach for your friend, placing your left arm around his shoulders and your right hand behind his head, pulling him closer to you.

"It'll be okay." You tell him, pulling him into a tight hug with your arm and encouraging him to rest his head on your chest with your hand, guiding him to place his ear against your left breast. "You aren't your old man."

You've always found Momma's naturally slow heartbeat to be incredibly calming, and while your own has never been quite as slow as hers, you are fairly confident it's still somewhat calming. It's not something you'd do for anyone, but he just vented heartaches by the number, so you feel like you can trust him that much, to help him.

And dear God, does Shoto need all the help he can get.

Every few seconds Deku looks back at you, looking like he wants to say something but he turns back around and looks away, waiting for you to separate.

But even if he struggled a bit at the start, probably in confusion, his gradually feels less tense and stiff, feeling like an articulated human being by the minute mark.

"Feeling alright now, sugar?" You ask him then, releasing him from the hug.

>"...Much better." He says after a second of contemplation. "Although I will ask you to not do it again, please. It may give onlookers a wrong idea."

"We don't have no onlookers. Just Deku!" You jokingly reply, waving his concern off. "And…"

There's something wrong.

Your nose picks up a sweet yet salty smell, which wouldn't normally surprise you at lunchtime, but it's not coming from the outside of the gate, but from the stadium.

You raise your nose and try to identify the smell, grimacing when you recognize the only person you know of who would smell like sweat and nitroglycerine.

"Hey, Daisy! Did you fall asleep there!?" You yell in his general direction. "Or are you just dumbfounded by the concept of hardship!?

Shoto immediately looks in the same direction you are looking at, while Deku looks at you like you just broke Old Nick's fiddle over your knee.

Yet no one says anything, until footsteps start approaching.

A second later, Daisy appears from behind the corner with his hands in his pockets, walking towards the three of you.

Even then, no one says anything. You tense in anticipation of a hurtful remark that never comes. Instead, he just walks between you all, giving each of you a silent, confused gaze before leaving.

It does nothing but invite another minute of silence, until Deku finally speaks his mind.

>"To be honest, the reason I got here… This point in the Festival, this school…" He says, looking down at his arm. You can't see any scars, but you can imagine the spiderweb of healed fractures those bones sport by now. "It's all external help. There has always been someone to save me: I want to be like All Might and become the No. 1 Hero, not only for me but to pay back to all those who have helped me along the way. I planned to take your challenge head on… It may not be war anymore, but if we meet on stage, I still want to earn my place."

>"Worry not, I will not go easy on anyone." Soto replies.

"Fated battle between men." You whisper with a nod. It would have gone unnoticed had your gut not decided to imitate a bullroarer right after. "...So… how about we continue this over lunch?"

>"Seems prudent. This break will not last forever." Shoto agrees, nodding. "Where to?"

"I kind of wanted to go back to the mess hall?" Deku says, pointing towards U.A's main building with his thumb, but still sounding more like a very weak suggestion.

"We are going to see the food vendors first!" You tell them, proudly marching towards the food stands. "Lunch Rush's stuff is great and all, but y'all can't just visit a festival, carnival, <shindig> or any other <hootenanny> really without tryin' their food first!"

>"We did not come to visit them, they set up shop in our school grounds" Shoto points out, following you anyway.

"Bah, <tomato, tomahto>, same difference." You reply, bringing your hand up to shield your eyes from the sun as you try to find one particular food stand you saw before the festival started. "I mean, y'all wanna try the food, right?"

>"Might as well." Shoto answers, shrugging.

>"...Kinda?" Deku says, looking at the school over his shoulder. "I mean, I wanted to try it later?"

"Good thing I caught ya, then!" You tell him as you start making your way into the crowd. "You can't just eat lard on a stick and then go work out! You'd puke your guts out on camera! You need to let it all settle down."

>"I was thinking about coming here after the events were done…" He tells the ground. "What are you looking for anyway?"

"This morning, I saw a place that fried stuff and sold cheeseburgers!" You tell them.

>"Oh." The green haired boy lets out before shaking his hands in front of his face as he notices your glare. "I mean! Cheeseburgers are great!... But I didn't think you'd go looking for that here."

"Well, of course not!" You reply, looking over the crowd as they look back at you. Mainly at Deku, but they stare at all three of you. "The stand next to them was selling ice cream!"

>"Meal and dessert then?" He asks, visibly confused.

"I'm starting to think you just won't get it until you try it." You tell him. "I just thought that a fried ice cream cheeseburger on a stick would be a good start!"

>"...Start?" Deku repeats as a question.

"Are you goin' deaf or somethin'?" You ask back as a joke, chuckling.

>"It does sound like a whole meal." Shoto points out, taking Deku's side on this one.

"Fine… That's more funnel cakes and corndogs for me." You jokingly say, not actually expecting to find those.

Neither of them continues the banter, causing another moment of awkward silence. One too many today.

But as awkward as it is, it lets you focus a bit more on your search for arterial plugs.

Looking over the heads of the crowd, you can see and smell a few things.

Straight up ahead, you can see a pair of familiar wide gray horns, next to a pair of smaller and purple ones, and the unmistakable smell of ice cream comes from that direction.

To your right you can see a group of older U.A students coming your way, with two cleaning up their hair and slightly torn clothes with the help of a third, all in front of a fourth armored student, holding a rather bulky camera over his shoulder… Wait, ain't that Firewire holding that camera? Anyways, your nose tells you that the food stand where you got your dango in the morning is right up there.
>>
At your left you can smell chocolate and red beans, along with batter. Maybe your friend would like something more tame, like taiyaki. No one dislikes taiyaki!

He took the chance to fail for a d6, which is 5/6ths, i believe.
>>
>>2745736
That makes more sense. And yeah, 27.1 sounds right. Doing all the math in my head atm.
>>
>>2745716
So there are 36 different rolls with 2d6, 6 of those combos are pairs. So, 1/6 chance of hitting a pair on one roll. So now we do some stats. binomcdf(3, 1/6, 0) the syntax here is binomcdf(trials, probability, value), so 3 rolls , prob of 1/6, and number of success 0. That equals .5787. meaning that the prob of getting 0 successes is 57.87% so that mean the prob of getting at least 1 success is 100-57.87= 42.13 which is about 42% of at least on success.

You look at the upperclassmen and wave at them, then turn around.

"This way guys, I can already taste the fried ice cream!" You tell your entourage, guiding them towards your treat of choice.

And your mother, whose horns you'd recognize anywhere. You have heard people comment about you and Momma's back and some supposed pain, but you wonder about her neck. Those things look heavy. But what would you know about that...

>"I think I will take an ice cream cone." Shoto comments as you wade through the crowd.

>"If we can just pick one, I'll take a burger." Deku adds, looking firmly ahead. "Is that…"

It takes a couple of seconds to reach your destination, but it's pretty obvious when you do, seeing Momma and Mt. Lady chatting by the ice cream stand, holding a cone each.

Sure, you never had seen her in person, but the costume and drills make her impossible to misidentify, even if you expected her to be taller. Then again, most people look tiny next to Momma.

>"...still on the red. Up and down… Not gonna let it keep me down though!" You hear Mt. Lady tell your mother. "I know I need more sponsors, but some old heroes keep hogging them. Even tough they have other gigs!"

>"Well, I can't say Ah know all that much about anything, much less the world of hero business, but old people usually have years of exploits backing them up. New heroes show up every year, hun. You just need your big break!" Your mom replies.

Weird. You've never heard her call anyone else hun, just you and Pa.

You are about to hail them and make your presence known when a series of slapping sounds beats you to the punch.

"...where?… no paper?..." Looking to your side, you can see Deku slapping each of his pockets multiple times as he mumbles. "... pen either…"

Looking around, Momma looks as confused as you, but seems pleasantly surprised with your presence. Shoto just stares at Deku with an eyebrow raised in curiosity, while Mt. Lady just takes a napkin and a pen, signing it.

>"Here, but I don't want to see it for sale online!..." She says, handing him the autographed napkin. She then stares at him for a second. "...Hey Kat! Remember that crazy kid I told you about like five minutes ago? The one that almost killed himself throwing his backpack at the slime villain? I think I found him."

>"It wasn't crazy…" Deku points out, tapping his fingers together. "...and it bought All Might some seconds to arrive."

"It wasn't crazy, says the one who decided that concussive-blast-propulsion was a good idea. You are a few pickles short of a jar kid, nothin' wrong with that." You snark, smirking before turning back to your mom and her… acquaintance? Friend?. "So… Howdy. Aren't you going to introduce us?"

Momma blinks a couple times at that before taking a couple steps towards you and placing her hands on your shoulders.

>"...Right! Yu, this is Walker Ushi, named-by-her-pa-don't-blame-me, my little girl! She's also the one that made you think everyone suddenly got giantification type quirks." She proudly announces, pointing you and the grinning heroine. "And Ushi, this is Takeyama Yu, or Mt. Lady on the job now. Ah watched over her for a couple years after striking out."

You don't know if her quirk worked the same when she was younger, but it would make sense to have a girl with a shrinking quirk taking care of a toddler with a gigantification one.

Still, she's eyeballing you. With your quirks being similar enough, you think she's trying to figure out what to think about you.

"Howdy! It's nice to meet a rising star!" You say as you greet her with a smile first.

She's not one of your favorite heroines, but that's probably because she's been one for less than a year, no reason to pick a fight. And she didn't become one of your favorite characters to play as for no reason, as it's easy to see yourself in her.

Besides, Midnight told you that giving faint praise and admitting some minor weakness makes people think better of you.

"I'd like to see you fight one day." You tell her. "I can't normally get as big as you do, and I still move like Ah'm wadding through molasses."

The heroine smiles at that.

>"I might be willing to show you some moves" She says, trying to keep her cool. "Remember I said that when you have to pick, okay?

"I'll remember it." You answer, not making any compromises.

You then notice your mom lumbering over Deku, and eating her icecream trying to get a look at his face. But Deku keeps looking away, mainly at the ground.

>"Ushi, hun, who's this one?" She asks when she notices you looking, crossing her arms. "I don't remember seeing him at the party. Is he not your classmate?"

"Oh Midoriya? He's one of my classmates. I think he was just too busy that day." You answer, sneaking towards the food stands and signaling at Shoto to follow you. "Say hi, Deku!"

>"Uhm… Hi, Mrs. Walker." He answers, shifting from looking at the ground to looking up to the tips of her horns."The invitation was a bit sudden?... The food was great though."

>"It would've been better right out of the grill." Momma says before leaving him alone, continuing to eat her oddly colored ice cream.

Being cheap festival food, it takes barely 5 minutes to get your teeth into a greasy, gums searing and teeth freezing fried cheese-and-ice-cream-burger, Deku into a regular cheeseburger and Shoto reminds you that you are in Japan, licking a vanilla-buckwheat ice cream.

The japanese just don't respect food, you think as you bite into the fried ice cream core.

He did get the first confession, although Ushi being dense as a brick really tripped him up. I don't know whether he's entirely given up, but, as you say, he'd have a lot of ground to cover to catch up with Shoto's growing lead.

>irrelevant character

Out of all the boys, I'm pretty sure he has the second most interactions after Shoto.

>>2748967
Well, he's not autistic, but I guess retarded is close enough.
>>
>>2749076
Its really hard to push anyone else when Shoto has been forced to have all the scenes. We met endeavor, and while out of character we know hes a piece of shit, in character we don't know that, so we were basically forced to go and accept. Then we met shoto, which we couldn't have avoided, and happened to be the first male we met, who thanks to how mic wrote it, we are guaranteed to spend time with. After that we had another moment due to being paired against in the mock hero/villain thing. We have barely been able to have a realtionship with anyone else because we kind of cant, since our free time over the break would be to try and spend time with shoto, and trying to hang out with any guys seems like we're dating them, when we're not, with the only safe option, again, being shoto.

It's a giant catch 22.

>>2749335

They're all good boys. Except Bakugo.

Shoto's not ONLY ahead because of circumstance, though that's obviously a big factor, but he's also genuinely popular. I don't think most of us would be that mad to see him get the most interest.

Also, PM literally just set up a stumbling block for Shoto and Ushi: Shoto is concerned that Endeavor is trying to set them up to get together for eugenics reasons and he's right. That's gonna make it weird.
>>
>>2749423
Yeah not gonna lie...the idea that Endeavour just want us near Shoto for eugenics reasons is a big bucket of cold water on the possible relationship.

Fucking Endeavour ruinning everything again.
>>
>>2749423
Yeah, but that's also some primo romantic drama. Plus doing things regardless of Endeavor, rather than because of or despite, is sort of the point of Shoto's development.

Easy, let's just never have kids. Or adopt if we ever want kids. Fuck Endeavour
>>
>>2749476
Or, yknow. Fuck endeavor and what he wants. Dont decide what life you live to spite him. If your trying to escape him, he still has control. Just forget avout him
>>
>>2749476
It's your dick, Shoto, not his!
>>
Well Endeavour isn't seing much nowadays so i guess we can have a relationship with Shoto out of his sight.

As always, now's the time for rambling, thoughts, questions and pic dumps.

Sorry for the lack of a last update though.

Shame on you.

Also, it's never too late to push other ships.

I've not commissioned lewds of any pairing.
I try to avoid it, to not look like I'm pushing any one ship.
