The attack on crescent Hall has begun. Fires rage through the hovels and shacks of the poorer areas of the mining town. The death of the captain of the guard, slain on the field, prevents the guardsmen and militia from organizing a capable defense. Wren and the berserker Ryk sow chaos through the streets and alleys, striking from unexpected angles to spill the blood of those who would stand against you.

Dagmar and the main host have finally broken through the shield wall erected around the gates with your assistance, bodies piled high, blood soaking the earth in puddles that splash thickly under your feet as you ready your warriors. Blades glitter in the firelight as your men form up around you. Swords and axes, maces and spears drip blood onto the hard packed earth. The air is thick with smoke, cinders, the scent of blood and violent death. The scent of war, of carnage, bloodshed on a scale most never see. But you cannot rest now, There is still work to do

There is still killing to be done...

Fresh baked, here we go!
>>
>>2706205
mmmmm so warm and rich
>>
"Lets get moving then. Got our orders"
You grunt to your selected raiders, the men silently forming up behind you as you set off along the outward edge of the town, following the curve of walls. Hopefully you'll be able to dislodge any defenses they managed to set up.

Almost immediately after you split off from Dagmars, fighting erupts in the central street as the combined forces of Urhost and Dagmar smash into the lines of guardsmen and militia. Screams and shouts of agony ring out over the rooftops as the combined forces rip through the unprepared men.

Arrows hiss overhead, arcing over the walls from Meiers men, their vantage point allowing them to drop bolts and shafts directly into the thickest knots of resistance. As you make your way through the town, a man rises from a rooftop to snap off a quick shot with a shortbow. He topples like a limp puppet as a bolt punches through him, embedding nearly to the fletching in a nearby wall. The-would-be sniper topples, blood spurting from the hole in his sternum and back. You nearly laugh at the address of the mans demise, odds are he couldn't even see Meier at this range.

Rounding a corner, you yank yourself back as a pair of crossbow bolts buzz by, humming wickedly as they bury themselves into the wooden logs of the wall. Poking your head out, you manage to take in the sight of several dozen men and a few guardsmen, clumped around a pair of stout wooden ladders reaching over the wall. Women and children, elders and young folk clamber over the ladders, burdened with what belongings they can carry.

"Looks like they're trying to run with our loot lads!"
You laugh, jerking your head back as another bolt carves a divot from the side of the hovel.

>The guards and militia are holding the perimeter against the wall and surrounding houses as townsfolk climb over and run for the hills. They have erected a barrier of shields, furniture, barrels and crates over which guardsmen with crossbows are taking potshots.

>What do?
>>
>>2706295
Do we have any assets outside the town that can pursue the escapees?

We need Wren/Meier to soften the defenders some more, bumrushing a 'fortified' position is never a good idea. We should tank up behind our shield like a mini-mantlet and advance to the barricade, then bust it down.
>>
>>2706295
Do we have anything to make a fire? If we can throw burning torches at their barricade or something it could give us a smoke screen to advance
>>
>>2706295
Get one of our men to set it alight. Trap them in behind a wall of torched kindling made by their own hand. We can throw burning torches or other impromptu things over our hiding spot at them and try to hit the barricade.

>>What do?

Go around.

Seems like we'd take excessive losses for little gain
>>
>>2706295
Toss our shield to a raider for protection, we go in ham and cheese with safer and fuck spear. We kill a few guards, knock over the ladders and intimidate them to surrender. Thralls = points.
>>
>>2706438
Doing that it would probably be better to use the shield as a battering ram ourselves.

Intimidating them into surrendering isn't a bad plan I suppose though, I'll switch to this.

>a pair of stout wooden ladders
In that case can we communicate with Meier and our other archers to focus just on civilians climbing the ladders?
We might lose a few thralls but one they see that people climbing the ladder are getting targeted they'll stop and hunker down. Once they do we can just pull an ol' >>2706315 and human-battering-ram their tiny defenses.
The few that escaped can easily be hunted down by wren and his rangers immediately after the fighting ends.
>>
>>2706488
We have radios?
>>
>>2706505
I mean by the time a runner makes it to them and they reposition we can have already solved the situation and moved on.
>>
>>2706466
>Attempt to intimidate

Grab a mangled corpse and throw it at them with feet of strength. And/ or use it as a shield while we advance.
>>
>>2706466
>Attempt to intimidate
Did we get to keep the skull of the Shriker? Next time we kill an awesome creature we should keep its skull, cure it, then either keep it as a trophy or add it to the armor for intimidation.
>>
>>2706466
>Intimidate them

“Surrender! I give you one chance to lay down your arms and you will be given quarter. If you do not take this chance I will smash your puny barricade and break each and every one of you like I did with (name of minor noble that we ambushed and killed with his own axe) and nidge and Janus and Hardik and Ollic!(all of their names had been spoken out loud, so Magnus could know them) Their deaths were not clean and neither will yours!” Something along those lines, drop the names of men we’ve killed.
>>
>>2706510
No. This more fantasy setting
>>
>>2706569
My point was that we don't have a way of effectively communicating with other leaders besides runners.
>>
>>2706527
We will lose thralls if don't stop them
>>
>>2706579
So what would you do?
>>
>>2706601
Definitely give Wren an order despite it being impossible for us to do so. OP will just write it in as Wren anticipating our needs or something.
>>
>>2706601
Do what we can in the here and now, there are most certainly bigger fish to fry in any case, a few potential thralls escaping with their meager valuables isn't much in the grand scheme of things.

Heh.

looks like the townsfolk are scared shitless. Not surprised though Magnus at this point is something out of a nightmare to these people, killing men by the score, crushing all opposition with terrifying ease, and wielding weapons over half the height of grown men like children's toys.

Hey Cursed how would you describe Magnus' voice? What would be a good example you can think of of someone who would sound like Magnus, also do you imagine him with an accent of some kind?

I haven't really formed an idea of what Magnus sounds like personally.
>>
>>2707266
Magnus is this masked faceless behemoth. Bathed in the blood of lesser men and his own. Arrows sticking out from places around his body. Just this angry mother fucker holding town enchanted blades made of billowing winter and the angriest of storms.
The guards should just nope the fuck right now and drop their weapons.

Speaking of who might sound like who, I think the shaman guy might sound like Morgan Freeman.

>91>34! Villagers are fucking terrified!

A foolishly brave townsman shouts out over the barricade, a cheap crossbow held to his shoulder as he peeks over the barricade.
"Poke your big ugly head out again and we'll put a bolt in your eye you.... You whoreson!"

Nervous, overly loud laughter breaks out, the refugees doubling their pace as the men delegated to holding the barricade take their posts. Hammers and daggers, clubs and spears held in the hands of men who have likely never held them in anger before. These men, they are little more than frightened peasants, you think to yourself. Their fear is so strong in the air you can nearly taste it.

Its all you can do to keep from laughing at their false bravado as you step out from cover, your shield vibrating as a hastily fired bolt slants from its slightly curved surface.
"You there! Cowering behind that pile of matchsticks and false hope! I have words for you! Surrender! I give you one chance to lay down your arms and you will be given quarter. Come to us quietly, submit and you will be treated well!"
Your voice rings out like a Warhorns as you stride forward a few steps, grinning to yourself contemptuously as poorly aimed shots miss your shield entirely.

"Eat shit ya sheep shagger! Take another step an ill-"
The indignant town guard is cut off as you bellow out once more
"'If you do not take this chance, this MERCY I offer you, I will smash your puny barricade like I did the guards at the gate and break each and every one of you like I did with Sir Thylos! He fell by my own hand! With his own axe!"
Giving that a moment to sink in, men frantically muttering, women crying out in fear, children squalling and elders openly weeping, you forge on, driving the nails of fear ever deeper.
"Surrender or die! Die like those fools on the road, like those cowards at the gate! Like Thull and Nidge! Janus and Hardik and Ollic! Their deaths were not clean, nor were they quick and neither will yours be!"

Stunned, chilled silence is the response to your words, even the screaming children silent as the suddenly cowed adults aboard your words. Finally, the brave townsman, a short, blonde bearded man with a light crossbow calls out, his voice shaking slightly.
"Sir... Sir Thylos is dead?"

One of your men calls out, the band of hardened killers joining you, weapons held in easy grips
"I saw it m'self! Magnus split'im apart like a butchered goat! Wit'is own axe!"

Another calls out, grinning at the palpable fear in the eyes of the suddenly much less confident townsfolk.
"Those two hun'ert men fell just th'same! Piled'em so high they stood taller'n th'trees!"

A woman calls out, her voice near frantic with fear
"By the lady! Askir! They killed Askir!"

The speaker gushes her, whispering words of reassurance before calling out once more.
"You give us your word? If we submit, you will let us live?"

>Cont
>>
>>2707726
You slowly lower your shield, fixing the man himself with a steely gaze that fixes him like a gaffed fish.
"You have my word. Submit and you will be taken as thrall by the Crag Wolves. You could not hope for a better fate. You will not be mistreated, tortured, murdered or eaten unlike some of the other Clans do with their thrills. Defy me, and I will slaughter you to a man. I will pile your heads high and take your women and children over your corpses. Stand against me and I will destroy you as I destroy this town. Choose now"

The only sound for a moment is the crackle of fires moving across the town as unchecked blazes consume the hovels and homes. The crash and clamor of battle rings out like the ebbing tide as Dagmar and Urhost carve through the defensive lines, piling bodies like firewood. Finally, the speaker calls out, his voice timid, shaking, the voice of a man broken by fear.
"We... We... We submit! We submit! We're throwing down our arms!"

The clamor and rattle of nearly two dozen sets of weapons hitting the ground rings out and you smirk, lowering your shield all the way and gesturing with your DarkSteel spear, freezing mist forming a nimbus around the blade.
"Search them, seperate the men from the women and children. Get them to the gates, have those fucks watch them. Send a runner for Meier, tell him to get to the gates and spread men along the walls."

The barricade is quickly torn down as your will is carried out, men dragged along by the scruff of the neck or prodded along with spears as they are pulled away from their families. Chidlren scream in fear, elders curse and weep, clutching talismans wrought in silver, praying for aid as they are dragged along.

The blonde haired man digs in his heels as a axe wielding warrior drags him along by the shirt, fixing his gaze on you, his face pale and beaded with sweat.
"Who... *What* are you?! What kind of monster... What kind of beast are you?!"

>What say

"Beast? Monster? You would wish to your whore goddess that I was just a beast, just a monster. I'm Magnus the mighty, where I walk men die in agony, the ground burns and the brave flee. Vall looks down at my deeds and smiles, for I tread the same path, that path that makes the whole fucking world a burning ruin. Get used to it you moonie fuck because it won' be long before every last one of your countrymen learns the hard way of what happens when you fuck with the likes of me."
>>

>Magnus the Mighty, Destroyer of Doors, Friend of Giants, Fucker of Trees
>>
You laugh, turning to face the man fully, towering head and shoulders above him. You can only imagine what you look like to the surrendering townsfolk. A monster, standing tall above their tallest men, clad in leathers and mail soaked in blood, your own and others. A faceless titan, a beast from the blackest pits come to bring ruin upon all that they know. You look over the man and laugh, your voice echoing from within your helm as you sweep your arms out to encompass the entirety of the burning town
"I? I am Magnus the Mighty, the Gate Breaker, Friend of giants and the Heir of Ruin and I am the beginning of the end of your false goddess. I am the fire of Vall’s wrath. The righteous fist of the Wolf. I will lay waste to the shrines and temples of your false and decadent whore of a goddess and reforge this entire valley into something better, something stronger."
You jab a gauntleted finger into the mans chest hard enough to bruise the flesh and growl out
"And in the end... You will thank me for it. You call me a monster? Live long enough and I will show you the monster inside yourself."

Turning to the rest of your men, you raise your voice, getting your shield and pointing with your DarkSteel spear, the freezing mist coiling from the blade bringing blessed coolness to your skin.
"We've got more work to do. We need to work our way up and meet Dagmar in the center. Make sure no more rats try to jump ship!"

>71. Squeaks by hidden DC of 70!

Your circuit of the eastern perimeter of the walls is not hindered further by any makeshift barricades as you lead your men along. Would be refugees are driven back from the walls, women and children screaming in fear of the strange warriors brandishing cruel weapons.

The odd snipers and would be heroes are picked off by Meiers sniper fire or knocked to the ground and crushedunderfoot. Your advance, while not unchallenged, isnt slowed in the slightest by their foolish bravery. Their lives and pointless, effortless deaths are for naught as within minutes you can see the cliff face that makes up the rear wall of the town. The homes and shops nearby have become steadily more elaborate, steadily more elegant. It seems that the poor are shunted away by their richer neighbors in the towns of the moon lords. Frightened eyes peer at your group from shuttered Windows and barred doors, the inhabitants unsure what to do with the defenses of their town breached like those of a maidens thighs.

The clamor of battle reaches your ears as the main host punches through the defensive barricade across the entrance to the town square, clashing with the final remnant of the guards and militia, the remainders of the "knights" leading the defense. From the amount of flaming arrows arcing over the homes from behind you, you can surmise that Meier has taken your advice, moving his men up to the walls themselves, raining fire down upon the defenders.

Screams of fear and agony ring out from nearby, the twang of bowstrings and the wet *snik* of daggers and blades sliding through flesh interspersed with the harsher grating of metal on metal. It seems Wren and Ryk are taking to their tasks with gusto.

I'm of greek descent greek (meaning that i'm probably a kebab although I don't want to do a dna test and find out for sure since I think the turks overrunning byzantium was awful) and I can tell you that the classical greeks (800 BC to 1AD) were a bunch of wierdos with all kinds of dumbass behavior, like how they thought that the most dersireable women resembled young boys and shit like that. In other words their obsession with young boys within their male sex culture was really rampant and creepy especially since it was frequently some greasy older dude railing a younger guy (at least in Sparta and Athens, the Thebans might have had guys of similar age form the sacred band)

The time after a lot of that stuff they picked up after the greek dark age was gone (after rome took over there was an improvement, namely they dropped the paedophillia and other creepy practices especially once they were christianized)

Yup. Emperor Tiberius after he became emperor picked that boulder up and dropped it (and himself) to the bottom of the fucking sea. Part of why (but not all of the reasons why) Caligula started to become unhinged (at least as far as I can recall) later in life was because he was sexually exploited as a youth by Tiberius.

I feel that other emperors indulged in the same even after the Julian dynasty died off but I have no certainty of who just a feeling that there was.

The romans (in general as a culture) straightened up the greek regions and later christianity and invading barbarians starting changing their disposition toward a lot of things (like their obssesion with youth and boys and most of the homosexual aspects of their culture)

Equally likely that upper classes and nobility clash with religious authority.

Well, i broached that subject before, searching out bandits and the like would be a good bet.

The upper classes having loot doesnt matter if we can gain access to the goods produced by their compliance to our eventual rule. Having a warrior class from their "knights" wouldnt be so bad any case.

"Alright boys! Time to earn our keep!"
You bellow, smashing your shield and spear together, the metallic crash ringing like a struck gong.

Without wasting a moment, you charge into the center of the town, your men following close behind. Through streets and alleys clear of any foolish enough to stand against you, you charge towards the town square. Turning around the corner of a cobblers shop, you stop for a moment, taking in the sights before you.

The main street through the town has been reduced to a avenue of blood, severed limbs and broken bodies. Fires burn unchecked, the wounded beg for aid and terrified townsfolk scramble for cover. Three times the militia and guardsmen threw up barricades in an attempt to stem the assault and three times they were broken and pushed back. Now they stand their last, fighting to hold the steps to their Hall, their meeting place and seat of the lord when he visits. It is their strongest point and they are determined to hold.

>85>DC75. Wall officially busted.

From the way that the men are holding the arched entrance to the Hall, men within firing arrows and crossbows, jabbing spears and pitchforks, throwing pots of boiling water and rocks, you can imagine that the fight inside from the front would be arduous.

A second way in would be much better.

You look along the long, wooden walls of the hall, the foundation extending upwards nearly a full meter to give the official building a commanding view over the town square. Made from thick, straight logs and boards, driven together with stout iron nails, it is a well built structure. You're sure it would allow the defenders to hold up for hours, maybe days if they had been facing the bandits they were accustomed to.

You are no bandit.

Charging forward, feet pounding the earth, roaring like a beast from legend, you leap into the side of the Hall. Like a stone from a siege engine, you drive the pauldroned point of your shoulder into the wall with such force a section of it snaps cleanly away, falling inwards with a neat and heavy thump that crushes a wounded man flat beneath its weight.

The interior of the Hall, a pair of long, low burning hearths and torches providing smokey light, falls still and silent, eyes turning to face the behemoth who just crashed through their defenses like they were paper. Your eyes take in mounted antlers and troll skulls, decorative swords and shields along the walls, men in the upper level holding bows and crossbows, their eyes wide and startled. The men unlucky enough to be on the same floor as you back away slowly, dragging the wounded backwards or leaving them where they lay. Spears and halved level in your direction, held in shaking hands as you stand, rolling your bruised shoulder as your incredulously chuckling men climb through the hole behind you.

"Evening. This where the party is?"
You chuckle, eying the men with a predatory glare.

We've already pissed off Dagmar enough. Let's go high but not the top. If we can yell to Dagmar, tell him to find their leader and take his head.
>>
>>2709398
As much as I want to duel their leader... I’ll back this, we have to play nice with Dagmar.

And if Dagmar can’t handle it, we save him and then he owes us.
>>
>>2709411
Or with luck the leader takes care of him completely. There is a clash brewing down the road. Dagmar would challenge Magnus for leadership of the clan if Throth were to die. We want vassals not rivals.
>>
>>2709391
>Seek out the officers. Engage 2 groups of 1d3 Crescent Knights

Here's hoping Fag-mar eats a spear and sits on a greatsword so we won't have to deal with his dumb ass.

>>

I think Dagmar could be useful, way down the road when we rule. A vicious attack dog snapping at its chains is a useful tool. I don’t think that a conflict with him is certain but if it happens we show him that we’re the one holding his leash and he’ll learn his place.
>>
>>2709391
>Seek out the officers. Engage 2 groups of 1d3 Crescent Knights
Changing my vote to this. Leave Dagmar to the leader.
>>
>>2709481
Being an antagonistic shit for the sake of it isn't going to get us anywhere.

We joined his raid. The only reason we are where we are right now is because of our combined forces. Winning the fight is what is important right now, once victory is gained, we embrace him as a friend and ally, hold his hand up and call for a cheer in his name. If he tries to fuck us, fine do what needs be done.
>>
Guys I'm considering switching my vote back to killing the leader. Dagmar has yet to voting his whinning to us so Magnus IC wouldn't have any reason to not kill the leader until told not to by Dagmar.
>>
>>2709502
Easy on the mental gymnastics. No one said we should kill him. All I said was that if the Moonie takes care of him it's a thorn out of our side. Then we take the glory for saving the raid.
>>
>>2708082
>Wielder of men
>>
>>2709479
Ditto
>>
>>2709502
And furthermore, taking on the leader at this point is being antagonistic. He made it clear last time that it angered him, why do it again if we don't want to antagonize him?
>>
>>2709508
Didn't magnus pick up on Dagmar being salty after we kill Thylos?

If he did I can see Magnus letting it go for the sake of avoiding a conflict with Dagmar as wrapping up the raid is more important.

>>2709523
Yeah my thoughts exactly.

I don't think we were within earshot to hear him complain about how we took the glory by killing Thylos but I believe that magnus picked up on it when he spazzed out and ran off in a huff.

>>2709491
I see your point but the issue with Dagmar is that while he is cruel and aggressive he is also ambitious and vain. Ryk is a better example of an attack dog as he is feral and more concerned with wetting his bloodlust then anything else but Dagmar's pride and ambition makes him an ally of convenience that is likely to turn if and when he has the chance or flee to work his way up through the ranks of a rival tribe.
>>
>>2709391
>Seek out the leader.
If dagmar cant handle it and wants our head, we kill him.
I wouldnt be surpised if we get his troops if we kill him in a duel
>>
>>2709502
Embracing him seems kind of bay.

>>2709516
Maybe if we saved him before someone delivered the killing blow. Though, he would either begrudgingly respect Magnus, or resent him for the rest of his days because, "I was saved by that stupid muscle headed brute."

>>2709526
No? I don't think so. All I remember after killing Thylos was a switch of PoV to Dagmar of how he was whinging like a bitch and punched one of his subordinates in the nose in frustration, then ran off in the night to take care of any possibly run aways.
>>
Hey Cursed if Dagmar spergs out and tries to kill us publicly would that be on us for antagonizing him by upstaging him or would it be on him for being a btich and whining about not accomplishing something before someone else did?
>>
>>2709567
At that point I think we would be in the ok to kill him, then we'll probably absorb his forces.

>>2709391
changing my vote for the leader.
>>
>>2709577
The issue won't be Dagmar murdering us publicly (or at least I don't think it will), the issue will him trying to off us covertly. We haven't seen much of Dagmar's character beyond his cuntish demeanor but I doubt he'll have the cajones to fight us directly when he can kill us when it's more convienient and at a time and place of his choosing.
>>
>>2709589
>We haven't seen much of Dagmar's character beyond his cuntish demeanor but I doubt he'll have the cajones to fight us directly when he can kill us when it's more convienient and at a time and place of his choosing.

Well most people would be idiots to try and 1v1 us
>>
>>2709593
My point being that he'll probably try and kill us when we're out hunting or questing as a more practical way of bumping us off.

A man like Dagmar with access to the Crag and being able to spy on us directly would be one giant ass thorn in our side if he decided to try and ambush us on our way to an already dangerous location or if he just came up out of the blue and pricked us with a poisoned knife or something during a fight with the moonies or some monsters or other tribals.

You look out across the small grouping of peasants, townsfolk and guards, their weapons clutched in trembling hands, their armor splattered with filth and blood, the air heavy with the stench of fear and piss. You look out over the men who would stand against you and feel naught but contempt. These are not warriors, they are not worthy to die at your hands.

"WHO!?"
You roar, the men flinching back as you step forward, sweeping your DarkSteel spear in an arc that carves the heads from a spear, a mattock and a pitchfork.
"WHO?! Who among you would stand against me?! Has fear unmanned you?!"
You bellow, striding forward with each word, men shrinking back like beaten dogs, eyes wide with fear as you push on.

You're sure that they would give in, submit and lay down their arms in awe and fear if you had continued but a pair of men step forward from the press, the peasants shrinking back, even the fighting at the entryway slowing for a moment as the brave pair stop.

One, tall and broad, a cut across his cheek weeping blood, coarse brown beard clipped close to his cheeks, a long hilted, heavy bladed sabre in one hand, a straight, edgeless dagger in the other. The other is shorter and stocky, a spiked mace and a iron rimmed shield clenched in mailed fists. Both men are armored in bloodspattered half plate and mail, boiled layers of leather visible beneath the rings as they step closer, eyes locked on yours.

"A barbarian bastard is nothing to fear"
Growls the taller one, spitting onto the wooden floor.

"The lady herself watches over us, monster. Who watches over you?"
Says the shorter, quietly.

"Oh ill give you something to fear little man"
You snarl, whipping the storm blade from its sheathe. A faint, crackling nimbus of elemental energy gathers around the ancient blade as you heft your shield up to your shoulder. This pathetic worm wants to mock you? To insult you?

He must learn.

Drawing the blade high over your shoulder, you lunge forward, bearing down on the stocky "knight". To his credit, he and his companion barely move as you approach, merely shifting their feet as you draw near. With a grunting snarl of effort, you bring the blade down hard enough to cleave the mace wielding warrior in half like a roasted chicken, the air whistling along the razor edge. If the blow had connected, the cocky bastard would have fallen like a green twig before a axe, shorn in twain with almost no effort at all.

Instead he merely steps to the side.

"GAH!"
Your roar of rage turns into a shocked grunt as the blade buries more than half its length in the thick wooden beams of the floor, wedding itself tightly for the moment under your immense strength. Before you can wrench it free and gut the pauper knight like a goat, your helm rings like a bell as he clubs you across the back of the head. Blood immediately trickles from the torn flesh of your scalp, the tissue swelling already as your vision flickers, going grey at the edges for a moment before steady as you stumble, half turning just in time to take the second blow of the spiked mace directly under under your right arm.

"Fucker!"
You snarl as metal rips into flesh, tearing links in your mail and rending leathers
Blood gushes out as the sharp spikes adorning the mace gouge deeply into the muscle and tissue, spilling a thick gush of blood that soaks your armor, shattering the ground at your feet as he rips the weapon free, jumping backward to rest the weapon on his shoulder as he and the swordsman begin to circle you.

"Well struck Byurn. It seems the beast felt that!"
Chuckles the taller one, his saber flinging in the torchlight, seemingly unconcerned with your men ripping into the peasants and guardsmen.

"It will take more than that to fell a monster like this Eradri. This is no common bandit."
Says the maceman, his voice soft and flat.

You grit your teeth as your ringing ears and bleeding wounds complain to you, ripping the storm blade free with such force that splinters fly into the air from the beam, split like a cord of firewood. You wheel on the men, turning your head side to side like a enraged bull. You spit onto the floor, more blood than saliva and laugh, a ugly hollow sound, scarlet droplets dripping down your neck.
"Im more than a bandit little man. Im more than a monster as well..."

For a long moment, the calm center of the storm of battle, you regard your foes as they regard you in turn. Blood soaks your armor and underclothes, dripping to the earth in sticky droplets from your torn flesh. The gash in your side from Hadriks pick twinges painfully as you turn to regard the pair like a cornered predator. Your ears ring, blood dripping down your neck in sticky droplets. The raw, burning fury in your heart is nearly palpable as the pair of warriors continue to circle you slowly.

Eventually, one of you must make the first move.

Unsurprisingly, it is Eradri, the tall swordsman who moves fieat, his heavy bladed sabre whipping around to slash your seemingly unguarded thigh. Sparks fly and metal squeals as you redirect the blow with the rim of your shield, twisting to shed the blow. Like a cougar, he lunges again, that needlelike dagger punching down in a underhand grip towards your hip. His snarl of effort never fades from his face as your blade comes around, the wide, single edged greatsword catching the shard of steel and stopping it cold. His bearded face set with fury, Eradri whirls, bringing his saber around in a whistling arc that carves a gleaming line across the mail on your chest, doing little more than bruising the skin.

Your return stroke does quite a bit more.

Growling like a savage beast, you slash across your body, the heavy curved edge of the Storm blade carving deep into Eradri's upper arm, slicing through mail and leathers like silk, flesh and muscle parting under the razor edge. Blood spurts as he jerks backwards, nearly dropping his dagger as his wounded limb spasms, sheeting blood downward in a steady stream. The unnatural hunger within you growls approval and you can *feel* your wounds knitting slightly, the pain and blood feeding vitality back into your body.

"Eradri! Be careful!"
Calls out Byurn, the stocky warrior quickly advancing toward you. Turning to face him, you swing your shield out ahead of your body, clearing a moment to set your feet. With a grunt of effort, Byurn swings his heavy, spiked mace out in a low arc that smashes into the rim of your shield, knocking it aside. The quick follow up blow of the Morningstar buries the needle sharp spikes adorning it into the soft flesh of your thigh. Blood wells up around the embedded barbs but you growl in vicious glee as you loom over the smaller man

>Cont

>>2712909
"Ive fucking got you now"
You snarl, punching out with the pummel of the storm blade, the heavy iron and leather construction crushing his nose nearly flat and knocking him back a step. His pained gasp of pain only increases in volume as you whip the blade twice across your body, opening up a pair of deep gashes through his armor amd into the tissue of his chest and shoulder, both wounds spurting blood in crimson arcs. The wounded and pain blinded warrior nearly falls backwards, stumbling and swiping desperately as his vision clears.

Feeling the life flow back into your body you straighten, your wounds troubling you slightly less and growl in savage satisfaction as the two men suddenly seem much less confident. Leveling your blade, you turn in a slow arc, your eyes shining in the darkness of your helm.

MAIMING INJURY TIME!

Uh oh! You have been reduced to extremely low health! What does this mean for you? Well thanks to the totally realistic neo-medieval tribal medicines you probably wont die if your buddies can save the torn hunk of flesh that used to be you. Unfortunately, you won't walk through this without a scratch however. This will literally cost you a toll of flesh and blood. Maiming blows permanently effect your stats and physical appearance.

>What do you lose?

>Blinded in one eye (permanent -20 to Chance to hit)

>Crushed Hand (Lose the ability to dual wield/dual wield at a severe penalty unless you can get a brace)

>Crushed Kneecap (Take a -20 to your agility. Enemies hit you on 30 on free hits instead of 50)

>Ruined visage (Your face is torn to shit. You lose your good looks and take a penalty to speech checks. Intimidation gets a boost though)

>Other (write in)
>>
>>2714148
hey I thought life drinker didn't work on the last round otherwise we would of got health from the peasants
if not
>Ruined visage (Your face is torn to shit. You lose your good looks and take a penalty to speech checks. Intimidation gets a boost though)
the others are fucking horrible maybe not crushed hand that can be mitigated i suppose
>>
>>2714195
I rechecked my notes on it. I found out I was doing it all wrong. My apologies.
>>
>>2714177
>Other
>Dishonored (You have already escaped death once. To do so another time is cowardice, not tolerated by the spirits. Lose the Death Touched trait, spirits of dead warriors will actively attempt to bring Magnus into the land of the dead. And Vall help him if he ever reaches that hellish realm)
>>
>>2714198
That means?
>>
>>2714177
WEW LAD

>Crushed Hand
Time to go sword & board permanently, strap that shield on tight.
>>
>>2714177
>crushed hand
hand injuries make everyone more badass
>>
>>2714212
That means you actually would be started this engagement with a bit more HP. Youre not dead though and ive got my shit in order now and youve learned of a neat new mechanic!
>>
>>2714225
Cool
>>
>>2714177

> Ruined Visage

Intimidation is our default, and this adds to our mythos, anything else is foolishness.
>>
>>2714225

Oh shit, nevermind.
>>
>>2714177
Can we remove these debilitating effects at a later date? Say, if we get the trolls marking?
>>
>>2714251
yes
>>
>>2714225
Does this mean we're not maimed?
>>
>>2714225
Crushed hand I guess?
>>
>>2714258
No. You got maimed but because of my mix up with the life drinker notes I rolled you on the lighter end of that table. There are a LOT worse things on there.
>>
>>2714225
So are we maimed or not? Just clarifying
>>
>>2714177
>>Crushed Hand
>>
>>2714266
>>2714267
Nevermind
>>
>>2714177
>>Crushed Hand (Lose the ability to dual wield/dual wield at a severe penalty unless you can get a brace)

Sword and board is more efficient anyways, besides a brace shouldn't be so hard
>>
>>2714244
>>2714177
Supporting this, we don’t really use speech checks, and our women aren’t with us for our looks. Intimidation is our strong suit.
>>
>>2714225
so whats the threshold for wounding/maiming just so we know in future or is up to QM discretion
>>
>>2714280
>Supporting this, we don’t really use speech checks

Could be handy on our path to uniting the tribes though.
>>
>>2714213
>>2714277
Sword and board got us here, we destroyed the front gates dual wielding
>>
>>2714282
Maiming is caused by critical injuries. If you drop below 10hp, ya getting maimed no matter what life drinker does.
>>
>>2714284
implying tribes want to be led by a scarless pretty boy if anything it should improve our chances
>>
>>2714286
Does this mean no loot?
>>
>>2714284
Maybe it will help us dealing with conquered nobles of the valley once were at that point way down the line, but we’ll have some way to compensate for it by then. Barbarian tribes aren’t going to respect anything but strength, uniting the tribes is going need us in top fighting shape
>>
>>2714295
As long as you survive the raid and kick ass (which you have done) you get a share of the loot)
>>
>>2714285
If we'd been duel wielding here we'd be dead, we took unnecessary damage at the gate at that.

>>2714289
>a scarless pretty boy

We're not that though, our face is already kinda fucked up as it is nevermind the numerous injuries we've already accrued.
>>
>>2714303
But dagmar will get all the best loot and we can't defend ourselves of he Fucks us.
>>
>Crushed Hand Seems to be winning. Bueno?
>>
>>2714310
yeah
>>
>>2714306
This is why we have friends, anon. Friends who will watch our backs.
>>2714310
I'm obviously okay with that.
>>
>>2714310
ye
>>
>>2714314
When we ascend to God hood we need to remember to have them ascend with us.
>>
>>2714321
>implying we don't need to go full Griffith for that
>>
>>2714310
Yes
>>
For the life of me, I can't fathom why you'd choose to be permanently disabled over being fucked up and scarred, but, it is what it is.

>>2714310

What happens when Magnus meets his maker? Do we start a new quest, or what?
>>
>>2714348
Magic is real. Invest time and effort to cure maiming at a later date
Sword n board now.
>>
>>2714348
we can remove crushed hand with a brace and some care, and other maiming injuries can be removed with a ritual (as long as we didn't loose a limb)
>>
>>2714348
Magnus becomes Snek
>>
>>2714348
we can 1v1 rust death and come back
it will become harder each time
>>
>>2714374
>not seducing death
>>
>>2714374
If we couldn't handle two moonie cunts than how do you imagine we can take on death?
>>
>>2714385
we weren't trying to seduce the moonie cunts. Nobody can resist the meathammer.

"Once more Byurn?"
Eradri, the tall swordsman growls out, twirling his heavy bladed sabre and glaring at you, blood trickling from his wounded arm. The pauper knights have proven to be capable opponents, fighting as a team to whittle you down slowly. If they kept up this pace, you would die like a moose set upon by wolves.

But Eradri has grown bold.

With a shout of fury, he lunges forward, whipping his sabre around in a slashing blow that would surely open your thigh, slashing tendon and vein, spilling your blood in rivers. His face is set in fury and determination, teeth bared and eyes narrowed as you swings with all his might. You simply lift your leg and turn, the blow whipping by harmlessly, Eradri stumbling as his momentum takes him farther than he meant to.

Your blade moves thrice and the deed is done.

Blood spurts high as your first blow takes his sword arm at the elbow, coating your face and body with crimson as he cries out in disbelieving agony, Byurn running forward to save his friend, faaar far too late. Your second blow hacks into his side, cleaving down into his chest, severing bone, muscle and fragile organs. Crackling energy sears the flesh and blood into smoking scorched tissue as you wrench the ancient sword free, spinning it in your hand as you turn, thrusting backward and driving the point heavy blade through the "knight" with such force his breastplate splits like paper. Blood pours from his lips as he collapses, his remaining hand weakly pawing at the wound in his chest as he slowly sags, falling with a wet thump to the wooden floor.

"NOO!!"
roars the stocky crescent knight, charging forward full pelt, drawing his mace back as you step forward, hefting your own weapon high.

"Come die like your friend! Come little man!"
You snarl, swinging the heavy bladed relic down like an executioners axe. To your surprise, a clever tilt to the knights shield sheds the blow, sending it careening off to the side. The momentum of the weapon pulls you to the side just enough for the countertops to nearly take your head off.

*CLANG*
"GAAAH!!"
You shout as the impact knocks you off your feet" driving you to one knee, your blade dropping from your hand. Your vision is fuzzy, grey and splotched with black, blood trickling from your nose and ear, running down your neck in slow streams. Everything is a haze, sounds muffled as if from miles away, your mind skipping moments, slowing and jumping erratically as you blink in confusion. Your hand extends outward, reaching slowly for your blade, knowing you have to get UP.

You have to fight.

"No!"
*CRUNCH*

Pain, white hot and blinding explodes through you as the spiked head of that damned made mace slams into your outstretched hand like a blacksmiths hammer. The metal of your gauntlet crumples, the bones of your hand splintering and cracking, muscle and tendon tearing near irreparably. You grit your teeth and nearly howl in agony as the maddened knight leans on the weapon, grinding the spikes further into your hand, into the floor like a half dozen steel nails. Again, Your vision flickers as a steel shod boot slams into your helm, blood dripping from your lips as your neck whips back.

"Bastard!"

Kick

"Filthy fuck!"

Stomp

"Murderer!"

Kick

"Fucking Savage!"

Stomp

You roll onto your back as the enraged knight grabs your shoulder, heaving you over, his face crimson with rage. His eyes are wide, glassy with tears of fury as he reaches into his belt, drawing forth a long, straight dagger.
"You killed my friend you fucker. Im going to carve your black heart out and show it to you"
His voice is low and flat as he kneels ovee you, your eyes swelling and cloudy with pain as you tug on against the nailing spikes in your hand. Byurn draws the dagger back, spittle dripping from his lips as he grits his teeth so hard they nearly crack.

Thw dagger descends and again you grunt in agony as you finally managed to free your arm from the straps of your shield. The straight, thin blade punches through the muscle of your forearm as yyou block the frenzied stab. Byurns eyes widen so far they nearly pop from their sockets as you wrench the embedded blade away from him, swinging your gauntleted fist back before slamming it into his jaw so hard several teeth pop free like kernels of corn.

"Ach!"
He coughs out as blood fills his mouth, his jaw visibly broken as your free hand shoots out again, gripping his entire head like a normal man would a melon.

Pulling him close, your fingers digging deep into the skin of his skull, you focus your bleary gaze on the single eye visible between your forefinger and thumb.
"Aye... I killed your friend. I killed many men today... And now ive killed you"

His scream of impotent" terrified fury cuts off with shocking, fatal finality as your fingers clench with enough force to bend metal, his skull shattering like an eggshell under your might. Blood, grey tissue and clear fluid gush up around your hand as you pulp his skull like rotten fruit, his limbs kicking and spasming as you jerk your wrist, sending his body flopping off of you and shattering you with what was left of his brain.

"Ow..."
Your head thumps against the floor, your body strangely soft. the sensation of pain leaves you, leaving only a warm darkness and the muffled voices that lurk behind your mind. They sound closer than ever before but you can tell you won't be joining them today.

its fucking brutal man, but thats ok.
>>
Bummed I got here late, would've supported >>2714210 or ruined visage (which I thought we already had as a result of whatever conflict got us deathtouched?)

I don't really understand why intentionally crippling us and now preventing us from making that fuckhuge magnus-sized two handed weapon, especially when we already use intimidation frequently, but I do like proper punishment for fucking up like this.
>>
>>2720517
a brace will fix it
other maiming injuries, that dont involve loosing limbs can be healed with rituals
and the guys on the discord may or may not have a plan for lost limbs
