General Rules

10 min voting period after each main post. Write-ins votes are welcomed/encouraged. Votes that are non-contradictory and add to the narrative will be considered. Think 'Rule of Cool'

Combat mechanics/skill test will be done using best of 3 out of 5 rolls of 1d100, unless otherwise specified. Modifiers may come into play depending on the MC's statistics which can improve odds and vice versa as the QM sees fit. The QM will do their best to inform players of when such modifiers will come up during votes. (Example: Aim at a target at long range with a scattershot weapon will require a higher roll to make a successful hit than a normal blaster weapon).

Training with other bots and successful missions can add to your overall abilities. Strong character relationships with your comrades can also benefit the MC as it will improve battle synergy and moral (less likely to want to fall back/retreat). Of course the vice versa can come into play as well. A failed mission may have consequences but result in unforeseen outcomes (In the show, Tarantulus, Blackarachnia, & Quickstrike were supposed to secure an energon post. The Maximals interfered, resulting in the loss of the post BUT Tarantulus gained a new lair.). A Predacon can always sabotage missions to make other bots look incompetent as well, just hope you’re persuasive enough to do so and watch out for those

Also keep an eye out at your energon build up levels; too much time in robot mode outside of a structure, such as a base can cause negative impacts on your combat maneuvers/skill test, including potential loss of spark. In the event of loss of spark, pending the results of a vote, a time lapse in the narrative will happen and a new stasis pod will fall. (Roll for new character or with a high relation level, a blank protoform will descend and your allies will reignite your spark)

The training exercise comes to its final conclusion

Rattrap has frozen up and you've got him dead to rights. While you're not sure if Dinobot heard you or if you're alone at the moment, this is your oppertunity to take the rat out.

You set up your shot; sorry chopperface but you snooze, you lose.

Alright, writing.

also, i think this will be the last time Beast Wars runs on /qst/. There's just not enough activity to warrant running it here.
That said, I'll be moving the quest on to fiction.live. I've been testing the waters there and liking the feel of it more. We'll complete this threads run for the week and from then on all updates will be there.

You line up your shot. Take a quick breath and fire.

The shot seems to be on target...and it was. The part that you didn't count on was the distortion of his figure. Ah hell, they had their own holographic projector.

"Gotcha Hooters." A few more shots ring out towards your direction. They hit your surrounding cover from another position, not far from where he originally was shooting.

"Dinobot, to Nightracer. What do you think you're doing?"

"Well I was trying to take out the rat. Where've you been?" You say as you roll out of the way of the incoming fire.

"Awaiting for an opportunity to launch my attack on the rodent. I have to admit, I'm disappointed that you'd think he would just charge out in to open like that." You don't have to see him to note the scowl growing on his face. "Rats prefer to scurry about in the shadows."

"Yea well....If you don't mind getting him off me, I'd be grateful." You say, recharging your rifle.

"Just have him keep his eyes on you. I'll get the drop on him."

Oh well thats easy for HIM to say, he doesn't have blaster fire aimed at him. *sigh* The things you do for your fellow Maximals.

1) Make yourself an obvious target, you'll draw RT's attention. You'll either take some damage or he'll figure you're up to something.
2.) Act as a decoy, but focus on keeping up your evasion.
3.) Scrap that! You're getting shot at, return fire!
4.) Find a different vantage point and get eyes on the rat

You decide to give the lizard what he wants. If you focus on making yourself the object of his attention while being able to dodge, that should give Dinobot all the time he needs to take him down.

You pop out of your cover and drop your camouflage, "With aim like yours, I'm surprise you've lasted as long as you have."

A few more shots ring out towards you and you manage to get behind another tree. Too easy. The furball can't hit a damn thing. Even now he's firing and its clearly aimed too high. Probably things you're gonna take for the air.

"Are you even trying trash eater?"

You get ready to dodge to the next line of trees when you start to hear the sounds of snapping limbs. Wait a second. You only have a few nanoclicks to process the falling tree limbs before *thwack*

With your blurry optics registering nothing but what looks like several tiny Cheetors and tiny Waspinators circling your head. You should've expected something sneaky from the rodent. How long were you out of it?

As you do your best to try to get back up, you hear the sounds of servos and gears. Someone's getting closer.

1.) Stay in the brush, see who it is before you act
2.) Pop out and attempt to open fire, you're not a 100% but even a missed shot should make whoever it is hesitate
3.) Stay undercover and time your shot to when the bot comes out of cover.

3.) Stay undercover and time your shot to when the bot comes out of cover.

You do your best to remain inconspicuous and hope that you can get the drop on whomever is coming. So you reach for your rifle in the hopes of getting it in place for you to take a quick shot.

As you go to pull it, you feel resistance. You tug again, as the leaves shake against each other. You pull again and again, but something has it a bit stuck. Oh brother. You adjust yourself to see if you can slide it ease it to your side. The sound of whomever is approaching is getting significantly closer.

Threading the needle that is your sniper rifle through tree branches and foliage is a chore, but you finally get it.

"A-hem."

You look up and try to spin the barrel towards the bot. A large brown clawed hand grasp it.

"Oh geez, Dinobot. I thought you were Rattrap." You say leaning your head back.

"Consider yourself fortunate that I'm not or worst!" He scowls. Oh goodie....your sensors indicate an incoming lecture...shame status lock hasn't kicked in.

"So did we win?" Any chance to redirect the conversation to anything else could save your butt from being chewed out. Though with Dinobot, small talk doesn't exactly process. "And do you mind giving a lady a hand?"

Dinobot just growls as he grabs and pulls you out of the pile, with far less finesse than you'd hope.

"If you were less a lady and more of a soldier, we'd have been far more successful. But in this case, yes. I manage to circle around and get to Rattrap thanks to your....diversion."

Aw yeah! Team Vermin goes down! Still it would've been more cause for victory had Rattrap not been the one that 'technically' took you out. But if anyone ask, technically doesn't count. Cant give him the satisfaction.

>"Welp, then nothing left to do than to head back right?"
>"So what do we do now?"

>"So what do we do now?"

"So what do we do now?" You ask, brushing off the excess leaves.

Dinobot transforms back into his beast mode. "I will head back to the Axalon." He starts moving past you. "You and the vermin will clean up this forest. Meet up with Rattrap and Kickback to pick up any left over gear used during this exercise."

"Wait, what? Why me?" Seriously though, why you? You did most of the work.

"I was the last one standing. To the victor goes the spoils." He chuckles as he starts heading off. "By the way, be sure to congratulate them on their second place finish. Their prize of you assisting them should lift their spirits." The irascible raptor starts stomping off.

You're head feathers puff up. This wasn't what you had in mind. You expected victory to be more pointing and laughing than being some janitorial bot. Knowing arguing with Dinobutt would be pointless, and lets be honest, painful, you decide to meet up with the rabbit and rat.

Of course, you could always 'say' you helped and play hooky.

Ugh, cleaning duty. If you had known this what the end result would be, you might have thought twice about agreeing to this contest. Pfft whatever, you still won. Lets just get this over with.

You find Kickback and Rattrap sitting back in beast mode. They appear to be shaking off their wounds and conducting repairs. You might consider doing the same.

"Oh geez." Rattrap says, being the first to take notice. "If it isn't the hooter's coming to gloat."

"Now, now. I'm not one to brag about how glorious I am and how soundly you were defeated."

"You mean like how you always talk about that nutshot you gave to Megatron?" Kickback says his ears lowered behind him.

"That wasn't bragging." You flick back some of your loose feathers on the side of your head. "It was solely done as a means of moral boosting."

"If you're moral boosted anymore, your spark would pop out of your chassis."

"Shutyourfacerat!" Wait, wait, start over. "Ahem, what I mean to say, is i've decided to be the bigger bot and assist you guys with the clean up."

"Pfft, 'bigger' bot..." Rattrap mumbles under his breath.

"Dinobot already told us he'd have you assist us before he went to get you."

"Wait what?" Ugh! That lizard, come on! Team-work! That was the point of this right?

The two other bots laugh. "Well we're taking five before we get started. Might as well patch ourselves up a bit and lower our energon levels before we get started."

Hmm, thats a good point, your levels are getting a bit high as well.

You turn yourself back into your owl mode. You mess with your feathers too, no reason to look like a shlubb. You activate your own internal repair program to fix some of your damage.

"So," You bird walk over towards the others. "Whats the plan? How much crap did you guys manage to bring out here?"

Rattrap stands up straight, probably hoping to come off slightly taller to your squatted bird form.

"Well actually, we didnt have to haul over too much. We've got a few traps out here as it is, incase the Preds try setting up too close to our territory. I just had to flick a couple switches and tweek some damage outputs and voila' instant forest maze of horrors!"

Kickback chimes in. "Alot of good it did."

"Well its usually more effective...good for keeping Waspinator and Terrorsaur from snooping around."

Poor bug. Not that you should be too surprised...

"Whelp," You say as you flump up our feathers. "I guess there's little else to do other than picking up the pieces." You look around. "How are we carrying them back?"

Kickback turns to Rattrap; seems like he'd like to know that himself.

"Hmm, Well....thats....good question..." Rattrap says rubbing his chin. "I mean, Well if you we're so blaster happy, we wouldn't have to clean up this mess."

"ME!? Who decided it was a good idea to use our carefully placed strategic defenses in a simulated battle?"

"Hey, I'm the highest ranking member out here, so I say you've got to do the heavy lifting since you caused the mess."

Kickback gives you a dry expression before turning back to Rattrap. "You make it sound like you're about to pull a Dinobot yourself."

"Wha?! I mean," He clears his throat. "I have no idea what you mean. What possibly makes you think I would do something so underhanded."

"You're a rat! Rat's are sneaky." You say; your feathers are getting re-ruffled.

"Heh, I take offense to that." He says as he starts padding around closer towards a chunk of metal. "Look, the longer we complain about having to do the work, the longer we're stuck out here, and I for one, would like a nice long relaxing time in the CR chamber. Well if spots is finally done hogging it."

"HEY!" you take a few steps towards him.

"What? Oh calm down, I didn't mean nothin' by it." Rattrap he tosses the piece by your talons. "Lets get going."

Rhinox might very well decide to 'send' himself, but this way we haven't bugged the guy. He's always better when it's his choice to do something.

Wait a minute guys. What if we just re-purpose the equipment into traps and and detection sensors? Like what rattrap did earlier but in reverse. That way we have to bring back less and fix up our perimeter around the base.

You decide to call the base; if you and the others are going to be stuck with clean up duty, it would make things much easier to get all the larger pieces out of here.

"Nightracer to Maximal base."

There's some static over the intercom.

"This is Rhinox, good to hear from you. Congrats are in order I believe."

Oh thats right. He was 'observing' through the sensors scans. That or Dinobot got close enough to give a clear signal to the base.

"Well thanks, though I've got to admit, it didn't go the way I really saw it happening."

He chuckles, "Well in the end, I'd say it had some interesting results, if not end up hitting and missing the original purpose of the contest."

Original purpose? Your original purpose was kicking vermin butt. Oh right, this was supposed to be about teamwork and...such...hmmm. Guess the big guy has a point.

"Well anywho," lets change the subject. "We could use a hand out here. Don't suppose you could have someone send out a dolly or something to carry all this scrap."

"I can do that. Oh, while you're at it, see if you can salvage any of it, we might be able to repair some of the equipment or the very least."

Well that doesn't sound too bad. This way not all these defenses that got blasted half to scrap go to waste.

>Commence the arduous task of cleaning up (remain in beast mode and roll for overall effectiveness on how much gear is salvageable)

>Transform back to robot mode. (Allows for more items to be carried; repairs will be put on hold)

With back up on the way and the rodents on the ground, you decide transforming into robot mode will make it easier for you to gather up the scrap. This of course means your repairs are on hold for now, but you didn't take any major injuries. It was just a training exercise after all. The only think you'll have to concern yourself with is energon build up as your beast mode can only reduce it so quickly. Still, you're robot mode moves faster, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

The rodents seem to opt to remain in their beast modes. While they're not gathering pieces as large as you are, they're knowledge of the terrain and where they set up things makes up for it as they find the largest pieces easier. This has allowed you to focus more on gathering the shrapnel pieces that may have scattered the out laying areas.

As you assist in the gathering of debris, the idea of flying skyward pops into your mind. This might be a good idea to help coordinate with the others or possibly keep an eye out for anyone who might have been spying on your guy's exercise.

You take to the skies and start looking around with your scanners and optic sensors. If there was some off chance that anyone was spying on your guys 'military game', you should be able to get an idea of where they might be. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long for your reconnaissance to be interrupted.

"Hey Nightracer, where do you think you're going?" Rattrap shouts.

You just shake your head. "Well, I was trying to get a good view of the area, you know....QUIETLY."

"What are you talking about Hooters? No one's out here." Rattrap adds, "Quit being paranoid."

"I was also planning on making it easier to spot any left over pieces of scrap before our back up arrives."

"I dont think it'll be that big of deal if we miss some fragments." Kickback replies. "Though if its any comfort, I'm not hearing anything in this forest." He chuckles. "Well, other than you and Rattrap's arguing echoing."

Hardy har har. Whatever....smug little furballs....
