“Welcome back to the Distant Frontier!” A distorted voice coming from a shadow in the middle of the stage says; Constance is on the side waving at you, and you wave back. It seems the judges have gathered everyone once again, as you see absolutely everyone you know of with a flame here. Not as big of a number of people this time, a lot of casualties during this short amount of time. “We’re one week away from our first confrontation, so we felt it was appropriate to hold a new meeting.”

You take a good look at your surroundings and you there I no doubt everyone is here! You, Amelia, Nina, Osgood, Henry, Richard Wright, Wildflame, that one terrorist guy you saw fighting Wildflame once, Ka-Shing, Flint, T.T. Neko, that weird cultist guy everyone mentioned you beat but you don’t remember…! You have no clue if it really is him, but you just feel it is. Next to the big stage, there is a little cage and inside of it is Lise’s father with other shadowy figures. You get the sneaking suspicion you already know why he and the others are there...

“As the numbers on-stage show… You guys barely checked the application, and we felt we have sent important information that you players should know about. The ‘Crimzone’ has merely been activated a mere 7% of the fights since its introduction. As a non-partisan party in this conflict, we believe this number is underwhelming for how it was intended to be utilized.” The shadowy figure starts explaining, like this is some bigwig investors’ meeting. He's pointing to a giant teleprompter where meaningless information is displayed.
“The Crimzone was introduced as a tool for you players to lessen mayhem during your battles, as we felt we should keep the conflict to the designated days. We don’t want to restrict your numerous options to settle disagreements using force, but after discussing it with the rest of the members of the board – our main objective as mediators is to leave this world as unscathed as possible. Uhm yes…?” The main shadow points to someone raising their hand on a farther set of stands. The other figure is too far and too distorted for you to make out.

“Ahem. If safety was any type of priority, then why are we are able to fight anyway, anywhere, and anyhow we wanted to?” The man points out the obvious inconsistency.

“As you understand, the Judges are entities created with the sole purpose of ensuring this war decides their world's fate, leaving ours as intact and undamaged as possible. That’s great and all, but no offense to our partners – they don’t have a clue what they're doing." The shadow man turns and shares a look with his equally-shadowy Judge partner, then turns back. The other shadowy Judges plus Athelone move in place a little, as if bothered by what the man said.
"They obviously ignored the greater context our world has, what repercussions their deadly games inflict on us, and more importantly, how to decrease the casualties their methods seem to have conveniently provided. We, their human partners, have decided to aid them in their duty, and leave the bloodbaths to a minimum. The main mechanics of the game will not change.” The shadow's tone is professional unlike anything you've heard. Woah, this really is like a company meeting or something! “We’re helping to tweak the process, not changing it completely.”

“Yes?” The shadow speaker points to Flint.
“Who the fuck are you, and what the fuck going on?” Flint seems angry and confused. Ka-Shing facepalms near him, like he explained everything before but Flint never paid attention. Meanwhile, scattered mumbling echoes through the stands. Seems like a lot of people feel the same way Flint does.
“Hee-hee. You must the last entry in our game, hmm? So this should be your first meeting. We thought everyone already found their partners, but who would have thought there was such a patient demon?” What's with that laugh?
“Honestly, I think he just fell asleep. He does that a lot.” Flint jokes back, looking at his flame. “Point still stands: what the fuck is going on?”

“Hee-hee. I’m Giorsal, elected by the other Judges as leader, responsible for making all this work. Nice to meet you all!” The shadowy veil dissipates and her figure is revealed! It’s a blond girl in a flowery dress – late 20s, early 30s you gauge. Her face looks way too calm for this!
“This is going to be the new approach for the future meetings; I’ll be the face of this organization of sorts. Please understand, the other members aren’t comfortable revealing their true identities. If you want to get rid of your anonymity veil to others, please tick off the box in your apps. Yes, your phones are now here with you. Sadly, the veil doesn’t appear to work for those you know in life and for those you know have entities." A lot of shadow-people immediately pull out their phones from nowhere. A few people are audibly cursing lack of reception in a place like this.

Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 10 minutes have passed.

Dice Mechanic

We always roll 1d100!
I use the average (the mean) of the 4 best rolls and success will be determined by the difficulty I specify for the action or prompt. If there are less than 4 rolls I’ll do the math with the ones I have.
Above 45 is a success on a normal roll. Above 55 is a success on a hard roll. The hardest rolls I won’t specify because I find it more fun if I don’t.
Rolling over a 95 is a critical strike and ignores the other rolls!
We will roll after the voting is done.

Would the winner be able to influence this world in a greater than normal fashion? Direct intervention as it were? Or will there be post tournament rules and regulations? And will our "partners" be with us after the tournament has been concluded?

The host is answering some meaningless questions you already know about the app, like how it activates and such. For some reason, you feel it’s appropriate to ask the next question:

“I thought you judge hosts were supposed to be super sick, or something. Why are your partners into that? Is it some sort of fetish?”
“Huh...? Huh?!” She gets super flustered. It’s extremely adorable. Some of the players in the stands are trying containing their laughs, while others have sensible chuckles. “I don’t really know…” She puts herself back in her shadowy veil! You feel some people’s glares, mainly from people you actually know… But all in all, it was worth it.
“No, but seriously, would the win—” You try to say, but you get quickly interrupted.
“N-no! No more questions from you!” Shadow Giorsal says, with some embarrassment still showing in her distorted voice. Guess you blew it.
“Whoops…” You say under your breath to yourself. You’re constricted to the seat you’re on, so you can’t really be heckled by those you know about your embarrassing, but totally worth it behavior.

“Besides, I’m going to have to put these questions on hold, because there's an important issue here.” She points to the cage that is slowly raised and dropped in the middle of the stage. The people inside hold tightly to the cage's bars. “As you can see, we have some misbehaving players here, cheaters if you will. There is a good reason for them to be here today. There is a new set of rules, very minor ones, that have been added to the game. More accurately, they were always there, but weren’t explicitly told to any of you. For example, it’s completely illegal to create false demons to participate in the war! Attempting to harm or kill one of the judges is all illegal, but you already knew that. There are many more rules that are going to be updated onto the app, so please check them out after the meeting is done."

Giorsal's voice becomes slightly haughty as she says this. "More importantly, it doesn’t matter if you didn’t know the rules; it only matters to us if you break them. But as I say this, there is a predicament: the people inside this cage are players that have broken such rules, but just today we agreed to pass these new rules as law. So please, take your phones out and answer the question displayed. The fate of these players, is now in your hands.”

You check your phone and the question is as follows:

"Should these players be punished for breaking the newly implemented rules before they were widely known?"

>Yes.

Obviously, the answer is ‘No’. You tap into the app your answer, but also add that they probably don’t deserve to keep playing though…

“The results will be updating live! Isn’t technology great?“ Shadowy Giorsal says as the big screen behind her shows the results. It’s not tied up at all, with ‘No’ winning by a large percentage! Perhaps the people inside the cage with Lise’s dad are also team members from other factions? What kind of Pandora's box is going to open free?!
Giorsal nods satisfied. “Mhm… Seems like we won’t end up punishing them. This will be the only time we permit this. The punishment of breaking the rules is being left in a coma until the games are over! Hopefully you guys decide to keep going with our world and… wait, I should remain objective, right? My bad! Hee-hee…" You personally don't like that laugh of hers, but there's worse quirks to have out there. "S-should I take my veil off? Some of you seem off-put with my weird voice…” Giorsal takes her veil off again. Cute, but not your type.

The results are in! 78% vs. 22%! A crushing victory for ‘No’! Guess your vote didn’t matter at all, and still doesn't because you live in a dictatorship, but long live democracy!

“It’s official! Their coma status will be their pardon, but their partners are already revoked. I don’t know what this could mean for the rest of the players, but it’s not like they're going to participate in next Sunday’s battle – at least as players. Many players abstained from voting, though. Anyway, thank you for your cooperation!”
Giorsal just waves cheerfully at everybody in the stands as if she didn't just announce people being put into comas, while the other hosts and judges just stand there. Except Constance; she waves from next to her, as adorable as ever.

“Talking about Sunday, the Solstice is going to start 6:00 AM Sunday and end 6:00 AM Monday. The Solstice has the exact same properties as the Crimzone – so if you cheeky little devils think you can bring a tank into a fistfight, you’re gravely mistaken! During the period of the first 3 hours, a light will come out of the Solstice to show where the Crystal and its pieces are. If you’re like me and are terrible with directions, you can use the newly-added crystal-finding app! Remember to charge your phones and electronic devices with the app before the battle. If you end up winning a piece of the crystal, please check the app after the Solstice ends for the mandatory secret procedure.” Giorsal explains. “Now let’s have another round of questions… and please don’t ask anything embarrassing again.” She starts blushing again at this. You hear a few people comment on it from somewhere in the stands, and Giorsal blushes harder.

One random other shadowy figure stands up to ask something.

“Is that strange illness spreading around related to all this?”
“We don’t know for sure. Nobody who showed those symptoms have been in contact with any of us Judges.”
“I see.” They nod and sits back down. You can see Richard Wright from where you're sitting looking at the figure who asked this.

Hey, now it’s Wildflame’s turn! You wonder what he’s going to ask.

“I have a question, fellow random citizen…. What’s this 'shadow vessel' you seem to be talking about?”
Giorsal looks around at everyone, then back at Wildflame. “Uhm… I’m sure what you’re referring to… You mean when we look like black distorted shadows?”
Wildflame scoffs and folds his arms. “Hmph. I don’t see anyone like that, and my eyes never deceive me!” Wildflame seems confused. Wait, he has on a pajama but sleeps with his mask on?!
“Maybe because we all know it’s you, you damn crazy bastard!” Someone from the crowd yells… Wait, Wildflame knows everyone?!
“Excuse me, Mr. Flame, but weren’t you part of the last meeting? Surely you didn’t know everyone back then. Someone should have looked like I just described.” The poor host says, trying to contain her laughter.
“I see. My justice senses aren’t all that bright during my sleep! HA HA HA!” His roaring laughter dies to a chuckle as he sits back down.

Hey, Osgood is actually raising his arm! You wonder what he's going to ask.

“I’ve been deeply confused for a while now, and I don’t know if this is true or not, but do partners really pick depressed people? I have a big suspicion that many people in positions of power have a partner of their own, and I don’t think there's a real correlation here.”
Giorsal visibly brightens at this question. “Yes! They do pick depressed people, but the key element is some kind of power or ability some of us have! Depressed people are closer to ‘death’ or ‘this other realm’ than your normal person, so they are most likely to get approached by these demons at a vulnerable time. Now if I’m being honest, I don’t see anyone here who fits your description…” Wait what?! “Whoops! I shouldn’t have said that…”

“I’ve a question, flower girl! Do you know who I am?!” A shadowy member of the crowd belts out. That annoying way of talking sounds oddly familiar!
“I do, but—”
“Then why the hell did you say there weren’t any cool people here, you second-rate whore?! Huh?!”
“After what we just did, I don’t think you’re going to be that important after this meeting.” Giorsal throws some shade at that guy!
“Ha! You’re a proper cunt, but you might be right! Guess you're good with that tongue of yours after all!” The shadowy figure actually cackles as he sits and leans way back in his seat.

Someone else stands up in the stands.
“I have a question.
What happens if we kill you?

All the Judge hosts instantly freeze up, and all the Judges stop moving.
“M-m-me?” The host points to herself. “Well for one, you’re off the game and—”
“I don’t care about your stupid game.” The figure interrupts. “What happens after a Judge dies?”
“Another one takes his place…”
“And what would happen if you and your precious committee all die? I have big doubts you can be replaced instantly, with how hard it is for demons to come over here.”

“…” The host looks seriously uncomfortable now. She takes a deep breath, then talks. “This time we won’t cut you guys off. If you want to vent, make threats, or anything you guys want, please entertain yourselves. All I’m going to say is we’re not as fragile as we may seem.”

“Then thanks for the platform, sweet girl. It’s nothing against you…. But it isn’t obvious, ladies and gentlemen? The game will be done!” The shadowy figure speaks louder as he now turns to the crowd. “We will kick these freaks out of our world, right? At least, the only ones who will remain are the ones who're already here… And a bullet to the head always works. What I’m saying is we don’t need to put our world at stake just because a bunch of feeble ghosts think they can use it for their playground roleplay!” He shakes his fist through his little speech, getting really passionate!
“What makes you think your plan will work? If you piece everything together, the Judges are the closest thing on our side.” Richard Wright stands up and faces the guy.
“Be serious!” The shadowy figure takes his phone and… takes his shadowy veil off! It’s a middle-aged man you've never seen before. “I’m telling everyone what we need to do to get rid of these pests! You can see my face right now. I’m not here to lie, but to gather help. If we kill the Judges, their magic portals and their stupid game will end. As citizens of the world… No, as fellow human beings… We must stand together, erase these phantoms, and show 'em the human race is not something you fuck with!”

Seems like he’s expecting someone to say something to him. The whole entire room is dead silent.

What do you do?

You decided to stay quiet; it is not your fight. Though you are going to defend Constance at all costs, you signed a contract! The rest of the crowd remains impassive, watching.

“Does the sun rise during the day? Does the moon fall during the night? What makes you think a true hero of the people will commit such heinous acts?!” Wildflame couldn’t stay silent! “Listen here, random citizen in underwear: I can guarantee I’ll leave this game as your undisputed champion. I'll only need you to believe in me, and I’ll show you the way to STARDOM!” He pulls a heroic pose, pointing at the ceiling! It would be almost inspiring if he wasn't in his pajamas.
“…” The determined guy looks at Wildflame in utter disgust. “Who would believe in someone like you? You only spout nonsense from children's books!" He again turns to the rest of the crowd. "People, I don’t know what type of bullshit those fiends fed you, but it’s time to stop. Join me! You don’t need to show your support right now… Those who are willing to work with me, search for the White Flare Assembly Hall. If you have the app, you'll know what to do.”

“It’s impossible for someone like you to get the deed done without consequences.” Richard responds to the old man, scoffing and waving his hand aside as if brushing him off. “If you don’t want to get yourselves killed, don’t listen to the old man.”

Ka-Shing stands up and starts talking, pointing at Richard. He’s wearing a chicken suit for some reason… “Listen to this guy…! If any of you go, you'll make an enemy out of me. You won’t take victory out of my hands. Judges, hosts, you all know who I am – if you ever need protection, feel free to contact me. Let’s make some green together!"
“We’re fine.” One of the distorted judges replies. “We know the type of guy you really are.”
“Offer still stands.” Ka-Shing grins fearlessly.

“Please, sir! Don’t do anything stupid!” Amelia stands up and yells at the man. She looks a lot fiercer than you thought she could, except for the fact that she's in cute animal-pattern pajamas. “Or I, too, will have to use force!”
“Don’t make a fool of yourself, old man. It’s extremely naïve to think the judges are alone in this… And we don’t kill one of our own.” Another shadowy figure says in a snide voice. They turn and nod to someone else in the stands.
“Mister, if you ever decide execute your plot, please target me first.” Giorsal is ready too!
The old man shakes his head and sighs. “…You’re dooming us all.” He ends up sitting and putting his veil back up. Everyone who said something sits back down, and everybody else starts talking all at once.

The crowd is getting louder with so much chit-chatting happening, and voices echoing in on themselves and off the walls. You feel like you’re in one of the worst positions here, being so far apart from anyone you know. Someone near you stands up and asks a question, almost desperate in how he says it.

“Will our partners stay with us after the tournament ends?”
“If you aren’t the winner, the answer is no. Sorry.”

Another person stands up… It’s T.T. Neko! She seems to be aching for her question to be answered! She’s in a torn top with various food stains on it, and her underwear has pawprint patterns on it! Instead of being cute or sexy, she's absolutely disgusting!

“Why are we constrained to these seats?! I’m not even near anyone I can talk to! Why is it even sorted out like this?”
“It’s in entry order.” Giorsal turns away but T.T. Neko yells to get her attention again.
“Hey, next question! Why can't you tell us beforehand when any of these stupid meetings are going to happen?” T.T. Neko seems mad, fidgeting in her seat.
“We will from now on, sorry about that.”
“Good! It would really pathetic if anyone saw how I really look, and I think most people here think the same thing! Not like anyone can see me here, or anything.” She breathes a sigh of relief you can see from your seat. You whistle loudly to her and wave, drawing glances from people nearby. You can feel Richard facepalming; it’s like she forgot Richard actually said something before!
“Wha-WHAT?! AAAAHH!” She’s having a meltdown, trying to cover herself but failing miserably. You saw her in this realm anyway, how does that even work?
Giorsal just looks bored. “…If these are going to be the caliber of questions asked, I think it’s time to end this meeting. Goodbye players, and good luck!”

It’s time to wake up, yay…! Wait, weren’t Nariko and Yu Yan responsible for taking care of you? Why aren’t they here now?! Those dirty hobos are going to ask you to make breakfast? In your state? Useless lazy bums… Geez, you’re feeling grumpy as hell – waking up this early isn’t healthy, not to mention having your sleep bothered by the meeting. You have to turn on the lights around too.

On the door of their room there is a big note plastered:

“Dear Johnny, if you decide to wake up early today to attend dear Matilda’s training session, you’re free to do so – but one of us must accompany you. Please choose one of us without waking the other up. We’re extremely tired and do not wish to wake up if we are not going to aid you in your quest, so please understand!

We also greatly appreciate if you make breakfast and dinner for everyone in silence. Sleep and nutrition are important for a well-balanced life!” That handwriting is absolutely amazing! But the message pisses you off. Wait there is one more line, and unlike what you just read, the writing looks terrible!

“forgot to add wake one of us up when breakfast ready, k? thx bye.”

These rotten children! They have one fucking job and are already lazing out like the detriment of society they truly are!

But this isn’t an easy decision; you have to think this through:

Yu Yan, on one hand, is a complete wildcard. Having her stay at home could be dangerous – she’s a proven prankster after all. If she’s with you at least you can keep an eye on her. Besides, teasing Yu Yan can be entertaining. You have no idea how she will react to waking up so early though, but you can deal with that. You've dealt with worse than a cranky hobo.

Nariko, on the other hand, is the safe choice if she remains home – she will even clean it! If she’s left behind perhaps you could hurt her feelings, but maybe she needs some independence in her life. Either way, Nariko will greatly appreciate passing the time with you and you've never seen her being grumpy at all, so waking her up won't be an issue.

What will you do?

>Wake Nariko up! The OG hobo will join your crusade! Besides, Yu Yan was right: she needs to lose some weight.
>Wake Yu Yan up! You still have to give her her new ID Card and passport! You can’t trust her to stay at home. She might try to get on your computer and find your porn, or something.

You decided to let them both sleep, you don’t need them! They wanted to be irresponsible and get extra sleep, so they'll get their extra sleep… and then you will ground them when you come back! Maybe you should be lenient with Nariko, it’s not her fault she's around bad influence. Either way, you should prepare breakfast.

Okay nothing fancy, but it’s going to do the job. This cup of coffee should work wonders, right? You left some food for those ratchety girls. After barely enjoying your food, it’s almost time… Everyone should start arriving soon.

And so, the people start appearing. First was Matilda who came here 5 minutes earlier, then Amelia, then Uccelli, then both Osgood and Henry appeared with the van. Osgood claimed Bradford was feeling ‘sick’, food poisoning your ass! Matilda and Osgood are the only two who look any decent; Amelia’s face makes you feel sleepy… Everyone is in various sporting gear.

“Everyone ready?” Matilda asks. You’re outside your apartment, and the sun is close to rising. A couple people run past your group on their morning jogs. The air feels really good at this hour, helping you stay awake for the imminent suffering.
“Yeah…” The rest of the group can barely say anything without sounding like a horde of zombies.
“I can’t hear you.” Matilda tries to sound like a drill instructor but it sounded more like a pissed-off murderer.
“Let's just get this thing going… Please…” Henry interrupts and pleads for mercy. His pleading falls on deaf ears.

“First, you lot are going to jog with me to the training zone. C’mon maggots.” Matilda barks to the group in her monotone. “Except you two. You’re not in shape to exercise. Remember the abandoned house from yesterday? Drive the van there.” Matilda points to you and Osgood.
Osgood heaves a huge sigh of relief. “Oh thank fucking god.” Osgood jumps inside the van.
“Now you all follow me!” Matilda starts jogging, and the trio behind her groan as they trail behind the energetic but stoic trainer.

“C’mon, we need to get going…” Osgood waves you in while he starts the van.

What do you do?

>Go with the rest of the team! You’re in no shape to move, even less to jog – but this is for… ehm… team bonding or something.
>Get in the van! Perhaps you can hear some juicy firsthand details about what happened to Osgood yesterday. Did they fuck?
>Ask the trio to carry you to the training zone! Improvise exercises and develop that team cohesion! Besides, you want to feel important today.

You wave at your team as you get inside the van. The perks of almost dying! Somehow you don’t feel like a winner. A good part of you feels bad for doing this, but you know the others would insist at you really hard for trying to push yourself. Best thing to do is to go along with Osgood here.

“5 AM? What’s wrong with her?” Osgood says as you close the door behind you.
“It’s her style. She'll soften up later, or soften up the others first.”
“Are we seriously training in an abandoned house?"
“Heh… It’s not as bad as it sounds." It is as bad as it sounds.
“Well, tell me where to go.” Osgood hits the road, and you're now on the barely empty 5 AM streets of Pokyo Lokyo.
“Just keep going straight, it’s going to be a while before we need to turn.”
“Sure thing.” Osgood and you rapidly pass the group and keep moving forward.

You watch the houses and apartments fly by for a few minutes, then turn to Osgood. “So, what ended up happening yesterday? With your girlfriend, I mean.”
“Thankfully we made up. I don’t know if I should say ‘thankfully’, but a thug with a flame tried to kidnap her for some reason. I beat the crap out of him, dropped his ass at the clinic, and asked the Nurse to take care of him. I won her heart back just like that, but I don’t know if I really deserve it…” He's being way too hard on himself over a convenient coincidence.
“Woah, you didn’t ask for our help?! What’s up with that, man?” What? This again?! You’re feeling less and less important for these fights, but you're also feeling better and better about the others' chances of surviving this game.
“Hey I’m a lot tougher than I look now. Besides, it was a do-or-die type of situation. We've been in plenty of those, haven't we?” Osgood chuckles and puts on a wry smile, eyes on the road.

“I guess your winning streak's still going. Even though you should have just told us anyway…”
“I mean I was busy, you know?”
“Busy doing what?” You get the feeling you know where this is going…
“Getting my reward, what else?” Osgood seems a little embarrassed.
“Oh… Ooooooh. I get it.” They totally fucked. Good for them!
“It’s bad though.”
“Why?”
“Why? Because she'll probably want to get married! She’s that type of girl, you know?”
“You said that twice, but I have no idea what type of girl you’re referring to. Really.” Huh… Would Uccelli…?
“…It doesn’t matter. Really.” Osgood just concentrates on driving, and you just concentrate on the road. Better not think those thoughts this early on.

You two arrive at the abandoned house! There are a lot of broken parts of it now on the front garden. It’s like someone cleaned it up since you left… You peek through one of the holes inside, and someone really did clean the house! Matilda took this seriously enough to come here on her own time to get it ready for you. She's making it hard to understand why she chose to do a training session at 5 AM in the morning, if she planned to clean up this place.

Eventually the rest of the troop arrives! Amelia and Uccelli look absolutely battered, but the other two look fine. Matilda spots the two of you and gets closer.

“You two are the wizardry stuff experts, should I keep shaping them up or do you want to test something?” Matilda asks you in her professional tone. “I’ll do tests on my own, but my first diagnosis is that this is going to hurt.”

How do you respond?

>Matilda is the trainer, it’s Matilda’s call. You're just here for moral support and to see them train.
>Ask if you can consult your team about their abilities first before they get absolutely destroyed.
>Ask Matilda to test them first and then give her opinion. Better to see for herself what she's up against.

“Let me check something with them first…” Matilda nods.
“Let’s get into the house backyard. You tell them, I’ll get the stuff ready.” Matilda gets inside.
“What do you have in mind?” Osgood wonders.
“I want to know what their abilities can do.” You explain, approaching the team. “How are you guys holding up?"

“I’m… dying…” Amelia is dying.
“Could be… worse.” Uccelli is about to die.
“Not too bad, boss.” Henry seems in decent shape.
“Alright, Matilda asked me to bring you to the backyard. I also have some questions.” You tell them as you help Amelia move, lending her your big brother shoulder.

The backyard is almost barren except for one or two bushes and some patches of grass. Whoever lived here before abandoned it a long time ago.
“I wonder if it’s legal to be here…” Uccelli is catching her breath.
“It’s my property.” Matilda appears with some ‘gym junk’ for the group to exercise with.
“Yours?” Amelia turns and looks up at Matilda from her spot on the ground, collapsed.
“I bought it.” Matilda is checking her notes. Guess all that work paid off? Or maybe she had before. Either way, you have some questions.

“Hey everyone, can you show me what your abilities are? Its best if we all know what we can do." You say to the others, and Philonune floats up next to you.
“Mine is ‘Zombie Mode’. I’m basically invincible for a short amount of time, but after that…” Osgood explains and looks gloomy at the end there. “All the damage I received comes back.”
“I can control my own perception of light. Deciding what to filter out, what to see, things like that.” You explain to the team, but can't help shrugging. “Not a team ability, sadly.”
“I can control the weather…” Amelia invokes Saraswati helping her to levitate with the cloud. "I’m too weak to control anything else but this cloud, but stuff that goes out of it like rain, snow, or lightning still works!”
“We are immune to the effects of our own ability if we chose to.” Saraswati explains, petting Amelia on the head. You feel irritated seeing this. “Now, don’t call me when we’re not fighting!” Saraswati disappears, unceremoniously dropping your sister on the floor.
“I can create zones where sounds can’t leave, but sounds can enter.” Uccelli puts her zone over her own face, and starts visibly screaming with her face going red. Then she turns it off. “See?”
“I can make people stronger! But they gradually become weaker and back to normal after a short amount of time… Also you get dizzy from your body not being used to the power gain.” Henry both flexes his muscles and points at his ear at the same time.

“It’s that all you need to know?” Matilda turns to you.
“Yeah, I do have a question for you.”
“What is it?” Matilda seems interested.
“Can I do some stretches and other low-impact exercises? I don't want to just be here doing nothing, watching everyone else work out and being left out of training.” You can't fall behind. Not now.
“I like your attitude, but if you feel even something slightly off, you will stop immediately.” Matilda smiles at you, but her eyes are fierce. “Osgood, keep an eye on him.”
“Sure." Osgood sits back against the house and watches everyone.

And the training session began, continued and ended in a matter of hours! You had to stop halfway through it ‘cause you weren’t feeling all that good. Your exercising granted you 1 Athletic point anyway, and the small feats of bravery you've shown the last few days have granted you one more Courage point! Congratulations, you are now at level 4 Courage! You're not afraid to say anything anymore!

It’s time for lunch! Your team is absolutely destroyed, yes – even Henry is dead tired too. Osgood and Matilda had to drag their bodies to the van. Amelia is so tired she looks like how you do every day, on top of family resemblance.

“So the only reason we're training this early is because you had a busy day? Why not reschedule?” Osgood asks Matilda as the training session is over and you three walk to Osgood's van.
“We have one week to make something about you, and that’s being generous. We don’t have time to waste.” Matilda squints and looks up at the sun. “How are you feeling?” She now asks you.
“I’m fine. Shouldn’t you worry about the rest?” You point at Osgood's van. If you listen hard enough, you can almost hear the others moaning in tired pain from the back!
“They will survive; the first couple sessions are always the hardest.” Matilda shrugs. “Drop me at the minimarket, Osgood. I need to buy some stuff.”
“Aye aye… I guess I’m dropping everyone at their homes, yeah? Probably the only reason I’m even here…!” Osgood laughs, completely at ease with his role.

What do you do?

>Tell Osgood you’re having a meeting right now. We have everyone important here, and you will notify Matilda and Bradford later.
>Just smile and nod, and wait for Osgood to drop you off at home. You seriously doubt anyone has the capacity for a meeting now.

You just smile and nod. There is nothing these guys can do in the state that they are. Amusing to watch, but everyone's got a limit. Look at your girlfriend, for example: she looks so huggable and terrible… You mean only terrible. Henry is talking like a middle-aged man with throat cancer, and Amelia’s Athletics stat must be at -1.

And rather quickly you’re back home! It’s great living the closest to the training zone. As you say goodbye to the group, you go up the stairs and you’re in front of your apartment door. At this point both girls should be awake and have the whole apartment cleaned up, right? Or maybe Yu Yan is the worst type of influence ever and is making Nariko slack. At least you can hear the television on from here - so that should be giving you an idea of what's going on.

You’re ready to open the door…
What is the plan going forward now?

>Open the door and drop dead on the floor in front of them, as a joke.
>Open the door, look furious, and ground them! They had ONE job!
>Open the door and act like nothing happened. Maybe check your phone too.

You open the door while reading your messages like nothing happened. These bad girls deserve punishment, but why bother? You have some messages piled up.

>One is from Kata!
She has your phone number?! She says during the morning she’s going to send someone to deliver your stuff from the clinic, as it seems you were dispatched home. Oh, that must mean your stuff is already here. Unfortunately, Dr. Calamity is still unconscious.

>The second is from Terry.
He asks you how you are feeling and wonders when you’re coming back to classes. He wants you to witness Scarlet’s punishment! Seems like he has something fun planned, but it won't be fun for Scarlet…

>The third one is from Lise!
Most of the message is her thanking you for all you did, and that she will always have your back… What exactly you did? Oh, his father woke up! It says so down below! That’s amazing news! Maybe you could check him out at some point. Perhaps he knows or remembers something from when he had a partner… That new police chief is not going to be pleased to hear this.

>The last one is from Ka-Shing!
He’s basically offering the same deal he gave Osgood. He mentions various reasons why his side is worth being on; mentioning more importantly that he has T.T. Neko on his team for next Sunday’s battle...

Well, that’s it. Nothing major… You didn’t notice until you stopped reading, but Nariko is in front of you, apologizing like she just killed you… Yu Yan is jumping everywhere around you to get your attention.

“Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry…” Nariko is almost about to burst into tears.
“Say something, please stop ignoring us! I’m sorry for calling you a dingus before, okay?! What do you want from us?!” Yu Yan is feeling bad about what they did too!

Without meaning to, you ended up applying the silent treatment to these two.

What do you do?

>Keep ignoring them and start preparing lunch. Instead of spouting apologies, they should stuff food in their mouths.
>Talk to them and apologize, it wasn’t your intention to ignore them. That would've been a dick move.

“I’m not mad. Just disappointed.” You respond to the pesky girls in a tired voice, easy enough after the exercise you went through. Nariko is in complete shock and falls to her knees in front you, bawling her eyes out. How melodramatic.
“No, no, no, no, no. We only messed up once! Please don’t get mad at us! We’re sorry!” Yu Yan grabs your t-shirt and shakes you like a little bratty child would.
“Yu Yan, I need to make lunch – please stop grabbing me.” You move Yu Yan away from you. She silently stares dumbfounded, while Nariko continues crying.

You are inside the kitchen preparing lunch for everyone; you can hear the two arguing right outside.

“You told me… it was going to fine… But this isn’t fine!” Nariko sobs out to Yu Yan, barely containing her tears. Too much TV dramas.
“I didn’t know he would get that mad just for a note! Come on!”
“I-I told you we needed to be responsible…! Dear Johnny was never mad at me before…!” Nariko is losing it. It kind of hurts you hearing her act like that.
“I thought he would get the joke! It’s not my fault! He’s just a dense idiot!” Yu Yan refuses to take the blame. This girl…
“But it was his health at risk; of course Dear Johnny was going to get mad!” Nariko keeps twisting that knife further and further into you. “I don’t want him to hate me.”
“He-he doesn’t hate you! Really! I’ll admit the entire fault, don’t worry!” Yu Yan talks fast to Nariko, and crouches down to her level.
“R-really…?” Nariko looks up, hope in her tear-stained eyes.
“Fuck no! I don’t want to live on the fucking streets!” Yu Yan throws her hand out towards the window, herself imploding from the stress. “It’s our fault! You’re as guilty as I am. You know him better than I do – if you really thought it was a bad idea, you wouldn’t have said ‘no’ once and then give me green light!”
“I-I-I just really wanted to sleep! I’m sorry! Sorry, sorry, sorry…” Nariko is back to apologizing.
“Stop, we will get through this! You just have to stay calm!” Yu Yan holds Nariko by the shoulders.

They are both acting like little siblings that got into what they think is big trouble.

You have lunch ready. How are you going to tackle these two dummies from this point on?

>Call them for lunch and stay quiet. If they want to address the problem, they will initiate the conversation themselves. You can go from there.
>Call them for lunch and apologize yourself, like a real man! All this suffering they're going through reminds you of the shit your dad used to pull…

“Nariko! Yu Yan! Prepare the table! Lunch is ready…” You get out of the kitchen with your stew ready but stop because of the shock. Both Yu Yan and Nariko are staring at you, trembling and oin the verge of crying again. It makes you feel so bad you feel like you should apologize.
“Yes, yes. The table, let me get…” Yu Yan tries to walk for some plates, but she trips on the chair and almost falls. “Oh no, no, no…”
“Wait. Calm down you two.” You leave the stew on your dinner table. “I’m sorry for what I just did; I never thought you were going to react this badly.” You expected them to act like this when you died, not when you get mildly bothered by them.
“Oh my god, he’s apologizing because he’s about to kick us out!” Yu Yan is freaking out.
“No, damn it! I’m not going to kick you out, I would never do that.” You grab Yu Yan by the shoulders. “You calm down too, Nariko. I already told you multiple times I'd never leave you on the streets…”
“Y-you’re not mad at me?” Nariko asks as her sadness shows on her face.
“No… with neither of you. Please, you’re making me feel bad. I’m not like my dad, you know?” You respond, remembering the shit your dad used to pull on you and your family. “Now get everything ready, okay?”
“Yes!” Both say in unison and they rapidly scatter searching for all the stuff for lunch.

You ate lunch together! It took a few minutes, but finally you clarify the misunderstanding… It wasn’t really a misunderstanding, but you were disappointed at them. It wasn’t the end of the world. You are all talking in the living room.

“I jumped the gun pretty bad, did I?” Yu Yan hides her face in shame.
“Yeah, but don’t worry anymore. Besides Nariko should have known better… Guess the dramas are affecting her brain.”
“Y-your words are hurtful, dear Johnny. Nothing brings more grievous pain to my heart than becoming a burden to you…” The strangely eloquent Nariko says, bowing her head with her hand on her chest. She too looks embarrassed. “Besides the dramas are just another entertainment outlet for me, those shouldn't define me.”
“You were exaggerating though.”
“Sometimes they feel like they do.” Yu Yan responds to Nariko’s comments too.

“Oh right, Yu Yan. I have something to show you…” You stand up, go to your room and give her the letter Sewel gave you.
“What’s this?” Yu Yan examines the piece of paper.
“Your papers. Maybe you can enroll in school now if you wanna.”
“Woah… Woah! Like seriously?!” Yu Yan opens it! Her new ID Card and passport are inside, and look perfect just like yours do.
“Are you crying dear Yu Yan? Do you want a napkin?” Nariko asks, getting closer to her.
“N-N-Noo… Get away from me!” Yu Yan's tears keep falling down her face. “I feel like… I finally have everything I've ever wanted… But I can’t remember why.” Yu Yan says all cheerfully and melancholic at the same time.

“I’m so happy for you.” Nariko smiles at Yu Yan.
“C-can I hug you…? I feel like I should.” Yu Yan asks you.
“I mean, it’s Osgood’s present. Hug him if you want, I don’t deserve it.” You just shrug but smile.
“I’ll hug you!” Nariko goes for the hug! Yu Yan doesn’t fight it. This moment is so sweet, you decided to pat them both on the head.
“Now stop crying, you’re really making me feel bad.” You feel less bad every moment!
“If I could, I would stop!” Yu Yan gasps out as her hug comes to an end. “Maybe we can go together, right?” Yu Yan looks at the both of you.

“I must stay hidden.” Nariko says with a sad tone on her voice. “If I head out I would only cause problems to dear Johnny, and I’m sure I can’t handle a school environment.”
“C’mon, don’t say that. I can help you with that.” Yu Yan says. “Besides I’m legally 16 now, meaning we’ll go to the same class.”
“If it wasn’t dangerous for her, I would think about it.” You give them a serious look. “We need to get her memories back and sort everything out.”
“Why don’t we go for them?” Yu Yan matches your stare! “I know aaaall about it, I asked Nina the other day. So let’s snatch that flame from that weirdo.” Yu Yan hypes herself up.
“Yu Yan…” You have your scold vision on now.
“You have his number too, right? C’mooon! You could strike a deal with him too. But it would be better if we steal it, honestly. I’m good at sneaking around; perhaps my memories are gone… But my muscle memory is as good as alway! Remember that armbar I gave you?”

“Nariko’s is good too! Look, do a front flip!” Yu Yan orders your hobo. Nariko does a front flip perfectly and gracefully. “You see?! Now Nariko, breakdance!” Nariko does and falls flat on her face.
“…” Nariko stands up like nothing happened. She looks fine.
“Hehehe… Whoops, I guess you don’t know how to breakdance… ” Yu Yan laughs. “Point still stands: I don’t want Nariko to be alone!”
“You know school sucks, right? Take it from me.” You raise your eyebrow.
“Pffftt… How bad can it really be, right?” Yu Yan gives a smug look at Nariko, who holds her t-shirt and stares at the ground.
“I would like to go to school, yes…” Nariko wants to have a normal life… of sorts!

“Yu Yan, I’m in no condition to do anything. Even if I were, the others are too tired to do anything right now. Training, remember?"
“O-Oh right, I forgot…” Yu Yan’s hype dies down. “Don’t worry, Nariko. I won’t go anywhere until you can come too!”
“I’ll be fine, go to school if you please.” Nariko smiles.
“Nah, fuck that. I never leave anyone behind!” Didn’t crazy Yu Yan betray everyone she knew multiple times in a row?
“You two are closer than I expected.” You can't help but comment on the deep friendship between your two hobos.
“I owe you all too much…” Yu Yan gets real and embarrassed at the same time. “And I hate being alone… Besides, I don’t know what could happen if I ever leave this airhead alone.” Ehm… Nothing? She never had a problem before!
“I knew we were going to be good friends!” Nariko says, her tone is changing. The effect from the food is diminishing!
“D-don’t say like that! Weirdo! You and Ame are so strange sometimes.” Yu Yan gets angry, pushing Nariko's shoulder.

“Either way, you could have tried to negotiate with that asshat, you know?” She now asks you.
“I’ll keep the mental note, but I don’t think diplomacy is going to give us exactly what we want. Not in a war like this.” Yeah, there's so many groups and sides and people you don't know about. Paranoia is normal right now.
“Believe me, sneaking inside would be no problem. You have friends perfect for this! Except Nina; her fat ass wouldn’t fit anywhere.” And that’s one of the reasons you love her! Too bad Yu Yan doesn't know about Uccelli's silent zone ability…
“Stop being so mean to her, she’s my friend too!” Nariko defends Nina!
“I’m joking, I’m joking! I feel bad now about making her mad; I went a little too far when we were together. But you’re always so concerned about her, Nariko – I guess fatties' solidarity is a thing, huh?”
“…?!” Nariko’s eyes open wide.
“Seriously, take her on a walk or else Nina’s clothes are going to fit her to a tee!” Yu Yan starts her teasing, back to her normal self.

Time is passing by slowly. In a week’s time, things are going to start falling apart if you're unlucky! Sadly this is all for this week’s thread. Thanks for playing!
