"It makes no sense that perfect bodies like Heracles' are described in detail but we don't get to learn about our own bodies. The Ancient Greeks really liked to make nude sculptures of male bodies. We learned about trigonometry and calculus in the Garden so that we could become Parasites that use the Franxx to their greatest capabilities for Papa. Why isn't the same applied to our bodies?" You pondered.

"Maybe Papa doesn't want us to tire ourselves." Commented Zorome.

You smiled at Zorome's remarks to hide your utter contempt for that thought.

Indeed, if the books were telling you anything, the humans of old had access to material called "gym equipment" which they would use, driving themselves to new levels of strength and vigor as their bodies adapted to the new challenged. No matter where you looked, those fabled 'barbells' and 'dumbbells' were nowhere to be found.

You drift to sleep, barely managing to contain the bile that Zorome somehow managed to trigger rising up your throat. Papa didn't want you strong. When you thought about it, the reasons were rather clear.

---

Deep in sleep, your blanket kept you warm. With all that comfiness, it was inevitable that you would start dreaming. Even in your sleep, you could tell that your heart - and your lower body, felt rather warm...

The dream was of...

On one hand, she was what? Nice to us once and nothing seemed to happen after that (from her and from us). One nice interaction doesn’t always mean much.

On the other, I think there was probably a tonal difference between the players and the qm during that time. Which had it come across harsher than I think some expected it to be.

There's metagaming going on definitely, but it's a pretty slim field regardless. Ichigo is the most competent, but we'll always be second fiddle to Hiro and Goro's probably the only man in P13 who can live like that. Kokoro's the nicest, but also the shallowest. I don't think our rather snide Futoshi would be terribly interested in her and she's likely to wander off and find someone else to dote upon. Then there's Ikuno, who's the most well read of the bunch, but also a frigid lesbian. Basically, I see it as 3 distinct questions:

>Can we convince Ichigo that we're a viable alternative to Hiro?
>Is Kokoro's kindness worth her vapidity?
>Can we break through Ikuno's icy shell and potentially reach out to the fellow bookworm within?

These weren't the opt outs I'd had in mind OP, if you use the extra vote to see if its acceptable to get romance point you just know everyone will end up voting No to whatever girl they don't want to romance.

Instead of trying to romance Ikuno, lets try and go for Naomi who is definitly not talking about executing the adults in Hiro's dreams.

These are just some comments I'm making as a writer while I wait for the confirmation votes to come in - the vote will be open for quite long. If you reply to them, please use spoilers.

Darling in the Franxx in my opinion a romance story with mecha elements rather than the way around. As I tend to see things in a political manner, I also like to explore the political dimensions of romance itself. However, I think Franxx explores sexuality beyond simple romance - which originated in the medieval tradition of 'courtly love'.

I think any romantic relationship involving our player character can be viable given a proper context. So for the sake of my personal reflection, I'm going provide some unnamed scenarios of what such possible relationships could involve.

Relationship 1
* Common responsibilities
* Appealing to heroism
* Changing expectations
* Sharing and acting on a vision together

Relationship 2
* Using each other to achieve common goals
* Merging common strengths until they become something greater
* Replacing each others' ideals with the reality of each other
* Nonetheless striving together for these ideals for a better future

Relationship 3
* Accepting help from others
* Learning how to communicate with each other effectively
* Learning about commitment and both its positives and negatives
* Growing something together.

Relationship 4
* Sharing the last pieces of childhood together
* Letting childhood clash with adolescence
* Waiting for the other to catch-up
* Sharing with them your ideals

Relationship 5
* Saving someone and having them be indebted to you
* Sharing each others fears and anxieties with each other
* Conquering them all together with the most basic available tools and means
* Devotedly working with charity for someone else's sake

Relationship 6
* Finding a compromise to each other's ideals
* Having realism, care clash with idealism and passion
* Being willing to give one's life to them
* Separating with each other for the others' sake.
>>
More commentary.

I'm writing with wildly off-the-rail scenarios in mind.

This is just a compilation of some of these scenario elements. Again to be courteous to other players, please spoiler any comments.

* Using strong arguments based on APE's own regulations and policies to affect change.
* Gaining more autonomy as a Plantation
* Establishing a quasi-feudal system where Adults have to pay a magma energy tithe.
* Doing more of this in as prudent a way as possible until S13 practically has political hegemony over P13
* Scoring major victories against klaxosaurs for political power
* Doing major research on 20th and 21st century military tactics and transferring thoise lessons to Franxx combat.
* Getting a Standard mass-production Franxx and using it with superior tactics and skills to match the other Franxx
* Using Magma tithe to kickstart P13's own R&D projects
* Mass producing or copying Squad 13 weapons, slightly downgraded for mass production
* Again, achieving major victories against klaxosaurs to raise one's status
* Supplying mass produced S13 weapons to standard Franxx pilots for strategic purposes
* Gaining command over 6th United Company, before Battle of Grand Crevasse
* Outright gaining command of all conventional Franxx forces before Grande Crevasse
* Applying 20th and 21st century military doctrine at Grande Crevasse to bring out potential of Standard Franxxs
* Preventing suicide bombings to gain life debts from P26
* Winning Grand Crevasse with minimum casualties
* Pressing to have achievements recognised by requesting promotion to a level equivalent to Nines, effectively checking Nines from being used to police S13
* Gaining Papa's trust to betray him

Franxx are already mass produced, they are more limited to the amount of elegible parasites then by actual material limitations.

Adults literally don't do anything, they are mindless immortal slaves that should all be executed. P13 should rebel openly, I do not believe it would be possible for us to gain Papa's trust, rather we should exploit Dr Franxx since he (and his experiment) is the only reason we are not already being pruned and mindwiped.

P13 living quarters are under constant survellience. In reality the only way to get around this is for Franxx to allow us to go about our business as we are. We and pass notes on paper in code when talking about sensitive information.

Really we need to be able to combat the nines on even footing since they seem to be Ape's best unit. If we can defeat them and we can call other parasite squads to our cause then we can break free of Ape's control and take garden liberating the children, we can then establish a base on the liveable coast.

Even if we break free on the surface we still either need to exterminate the klaxosaurs or reconcile with them. We will also need to destroy the Ape moon and orbital bases.

Also we need to lose weight, for fatoshi to still be fat after reading greek classics is just dumb.

Since we are going for Naomi. And we are pairing ichigo with hiro (and since we know that hiro can't pilot with anyone other then 02.) This will mean that Ichigo is going to get purged.

This is good for us since we want to become the strategic leader of P13, whilst Hiro will be basically our joesph goebbles. He should be the one who indoctrinates the other parasites in P13 to becoming rebels.

Please spoiler if you wish to reply to commentary:

Some piece of trivia regarding Naomi's VA Ami Koshimizu - apparently she also voiced Kallen from Code Geass and Ryuuko from Kill la Kill

Although this doesn't mean she will come to share their characterisations, I think I've got some inspiration for developing Naomi from a blank slate character into something more.

Futoshi's VA seems to be mostly side roles.

Ami Koshimizu is noted for frequently sharing series with Jun Fukuyama noted for the voice of Lelouch.

I suppose if you were being silly you could imagine Futoshi being voiced by Fukuyama instead. However, that's not the point of the quest. I guess I'll have to write hard to bring Naomi to life.

Is that a reference to the futoshi romance thread on /a/? I think there was a post on it where an anon did a similar thing but with Ikuno and it was like

>Having awkward sex where you both think about someone else, with Ikuno!

or something like that.

And then anons kept posting about the japanese prime minister and his pro birth policy.

What the fuck was with that by the way? Is it a DitF meme because the show is a metaphor for relationships and sex and japan has a birthrate problem?

Deep in sleep, your blanket kept you warm. With all that comfiness, it was inevitable that you would start dreaming. Even in your sleep, you could tell that your heart - and your lower body, felt rather warm...

The dream was of - was it Anne Frank? She damn looked like Anne Frank if the 'Diary of a Little Girl' was anything to go by...

You felt as if you were breathing heavily. No it wasn't Anne Frank, although any healthy boy could've easily confused her as such. That luscious, brown hair that begged to be stroked, taunting you with their infuriatingly short curls near the end -

She was showering. The steam and spraying of the water made the air - the water mixed with plenty of soap - full of floating rainbow bubbles. She was lightly scrubbing her formly trapezius, mochi-textured shoulders being cleansed clean of grease and sweat. Her lower form began to reveal herself to your eyes. Soapy water began to start flowing down her meek - yet strangely thirst-inducing body.

Your dreaming self dared to venture closer to her. As she heard your footsteps, she gently turned around, her rich, vital hair bouncing - truly full of life - her growing chest semi-revealed itself to you - you catch a glimpse of a pink bud.

In panic, you are pretrified - she turns around, as if reacting to this. A light giggle fills the bathroom even as she continues scrubbing herself:

"~wehihihi, Futoshi-kun~~~~"

---

Your sleep is broken. Maybe it's because your bed feels like a sticky mess.

You seat yourself up. Examining your underwear, indeed, you've wet your bed. The puddle however, is somewhat smaller. It didn't smell like urine either - it was more musky and stale.

It was so frustrating to not know what was happening to your body. Poor Zorome. Speaking of him, he and Mitsuru seem to be more rested in their sleep - was your snoring not that bad today?

You go to the bathroom to get a change of clothing.

Why on earth would you dream of a showering Naomi and wet your pants?

You've got some time before breakfast.

You decide to use the morning to get some reading some done - or otherwise spend time in the library.

Speaking of which, you wondered if there was anything in the library which handled why a teenage boy would wet his pants after dreaming of a naked - and somewhat plain - girl and her body. The lack of answers frustrated you. 'Why did I dream of Naomi? What cause me to wet my pants? Why do I feel so bothered about a girl?'

The only pattern you could see through your extensive bookworming that matched it was medieval and early modern Hapsburgs adults forming those special male-female contracts - which you had inferred - between Adults and Children of their clan and others. It seemed to have pissed off the Kingdom of France quite a bit. There might've been a parallel between what happened with your bodies and what happened with medieval dynastic politics - but what was it? How did the 'special contract' between men and women affect this?

Your mind is a mess. You curse APE's censorship under your breath. Were Children caste bodies really that dangerous?

Having sifted through a pile of books without answers, you sigh in frustration.

As you raise your head up, you notice Ikuno is present at the table. Strange. She entered the room and you didn't sense a thing.

Even as she conquers the tome with her speedreading, her bespectacled eyes darting left to right, she doesn't seem to be even acknowledging your presence. Indeed, there is something subdued about her - it must have been you unraveling her secret a while ago.

More important, she was reading Carl von Clausewitz's "On War". It was an unlikely sight, seeing her delve into non-fiction. It was also an unlikelier sight, seeing Clausewitz's oft mentioned book right in front of your face. So many citations of it, so little of it.

You longed for it. It was right before you. You needed it...

You give a her a modest apology:

"I'm sorry about digging into your secrets last time. I won't use them against you. I hope I can forget it. I'd like to get back on normal terms together."

Well, your business in the library seems to be mostly finished. Breakfast is fast approaching and it would be ideal to meet Her first... you pause at the sudden use of personification in your mind - if breakfast was a person, would it actually be male or female?

2*10 = 20 skill against DC of 6, Futoshi succeeds

---

Before everyone is about to continue on with their breakfasts, you stand up at the stable, slightly surprising the other children.

"Everyone. I just want to say to those who know what I'm talking about, that I am really sorry for what I said a while ago. I want to take back my words. It was wrong of me and I apologise for all that."

You noticed the concerned individuals - Goro, Ichigo, Ikuno and Kokoro - each acknowledging your apology in their own different ways - eating in a sightlier merrier manner or otherwise no longer viewing your presence as offensive. This was good - they were your fellow squadmates and potential allies in your great task. You needed to make sure they were not alienated.

---

You listen in on the boys' table conversation - in particular, Zorome boasting:

"...so I absolutely wrecked them all."

"Yeah, but you got mediocre on the other ones." Mitsuru cast a cloud on Zorome's claim.

"Oh shut up would you! I'm, feeling so good now I reckon I could beat Fatty in a training unit bout. After that, it's you Goro."

Goro laughed nervously at Zorome's boast.

"You want to test that?" You excitedly challenge him.

"Heh, what? Are you serious?" The pipsqueak was taken aback by your response.

You jovially thud the table, reaching over at Zorome with mock bloodlust.

"How much do you hear me respond to your rubbish? Of course I'm serious. Me and you, one-on-one, down in the training unit gymnasium."

"Yeah well, I'm not going to be beaten by a breadboy!" His taunt truly was a point of no return.

"Everybody! Ladies and gentlemen! I will absolutely wreck Zorome in the training unit gymnasium. You are all invited to attend!" You yell at the top of your lungs. Your proud boast reverberates through the room, reaching even the girls' side. Although they are not necessarily extremely impressed, you see that there is enough interest in a bout of training unit sparring for them to think of going along.

The boys on the other hand are much more enthusiastic. Mitsuru is actually giving off a genuine smile at your sudden outroar of bravado. Hiro seems equally impressed and Goro is just given his usual pleasant 'everything-is-wrong' smile.

Your eyes meet Zorome's.

It is likely that you both are equally smug at each other at this point.

Zorome and you man the training units, paddles primed, separated by mere tens of metres from another. You couldn't see through the cockpit glass of his unit, but no doubt Zorome's eyes are full of determination to thwart his challenger you - especially in front of the whole squad, looking down from below.

"Oi, you know bread ain't a superfood right?" He taunts you.

You chuckle lightly over the comms.

From above, behind the viewing gallery, the rest of Squad 13 waited, like a circus crowd waiting to be entertained.

As the referee, Goro spoke:

"On the count of three!"

Breathe in.

"Three!"

"Two!"

Your plan is rather simple - if you keep to it, no matter how hard, you should be able to gain an advantage against Zorome, namely the advantage of superior terrain - higher ground to negate his impulsive charging.

Zorome closes the distance. The pipsqueak's hyperactivity seemed to be infectious - even the training unit seemed to have carried his speed. His paddle zooms quickly past you. It truly was unnerving, too close for comfort. Nonetheless, you dismiss that nervousness and refocus.

You're closer to the ramp. Unfortunately, Zorome has blocked you off from it. That was a rather large setback...

"What is it? Cold feet?"

You ignore Zorome's taunting...

You've advanced one pace closer to the ramp. Two paces remain in the current direction if you want to see yourself on higher ground through Zorome's position. Zorome is blocking your access to it.

53/60 Futoshi

-

There is nothing wrong about charging in itself. What mattered was that the charge resulted in actually hitting your target. For force is mass times acceleration and a training unit's paddle, traveling at the speed of a lunge is indeed, very forceful. Of course, as before, it only meant anything if it actually hit your target - to that end, those who charge ought to be focused - they need to make sure their charge had purpose, intent and more importantly, will.

The gremlin heckles you, "What's taking so long?"

You focus your breathing - in, out, in, out, in, out.

In the era before the Plantations, 'martial artists' from the nation-state of Japan - and those who emulated them across the world, called out the 'kiai' in conjunction with their attacks - a truly purposeful yell, born of hot blood, yet held together by discipline. And what was piloting a Franxx if not the embodiment of being hot-blooded. Indeed, if hotblood were given purpose, direction and discipline, what force in the world could stop it?

Breathe in - out - in - out - at the peak of taking in your breath, attack!

You roared out your kiai, lunging forth with the paddle as a missile primed at its target, Evidently, Zorome was startled, for he stood still for a second - that valuable second was yours.

The comms were filled with confusion and you heard Miku's frightened yelp amidst all the noise.

Your paddle collides with with Zorome's, who barely had time to parry it with his own. You regain your balance. He is pushed back a couple of feet, letting you come nearer onto the ramp. One pace remains.

"What and I thought you were going to stand there all day..." Zorome tries to project a facade of confidence - you hear through the staggered last syllable of his sentence and perceive it for what it is - a facade. He's losing confidence.

---

Now normally, if the stakes were higher - life and death - you might've been a little bit more careful and taken your time.

However, victory was readily available to you, albeit with a bit more risk than if you waited to complete your maneuver on the ramp. This particular scenario counted on you striking Zorome down and giving him no chance to recover. If you messed it up, it would be a major setback for you. However, weighed against the possibility of impressing everyone, it was just far to tempting.

You did not give Zorome a chance to talk you. You sprung forth, brandishing the paddle overhead. Zorome hesitated in parrying and thus you took full advantage of that. Hell, you visualised slashing a klaxosaur in half from top-down as you rushed towards him!

You brutally disarmed Zorome's training unit, sending its paddle flying to the left. With only its hands to hold you back, you slammed and slammed and slammed onto his now essentially defenceless unit, until a beeping sound started playing.

Goro in his capacity as referee interrupted:
"Zorome's training unit virtual hit points have been reduced to zero! Futoshi is the winner!"

"Oh man." Zorome lamented. "Oh well, at that rate I might have yielded anyways. But this is a fluke, I tell you! I'll beat you in a rematch some other day." He bantered across the comms.

There was some indiscernible girl chatter across the comm. Well, that gambit paid off...

"Well you see I was planning to smack you down from the ramp. Maybe even slam you down hard into the ground from it. Not sure if you'd want a rematch after that." You bantered back.

"Heh! Truly a nerdy fatty." Zorome's invective was as comradely as it was harsh.

Thus the noon was spent on a truly worthy exertion of mechanised pugilism.

You decide to take advantage of the afternoon in order to wash yourself.

That of course, curses you with the opportunity of having to think about your rotund form as you took a soak in the baths.

So much for propaganda APE put out about Papa creating the Children - what, did he shit them out of his all-pruning asshole after eating a klaxosaur? Or were you solidified from the piss and other waste he emitted in his sleep? Either way, Papa surely had a view to reducing your form into some kind of practical joke. Why on Earth would he allow a waste pipe to occasionally malfunction, causing it to bring forth garbage other than urine?

You didn't have the answers yet.

Either way, it was time to finish your bath.

You dried yourself up with a towel and changed, going to dinner.

Dinner was a strange affair. The girls, on the other side of the dining room, were surely plotting something in their hushed tones.

If you were going to spider around, it might as well be doing so on people who you could actually comprehend - girls weren't exactly on that list, with all their beyond-frivolous gossip and chatter which seemed to serve absolutely no purpose.

You lean against the door of the bedroom.

You heard Zorome: "...Futoshi teach me how to become a better pilot?"

"You shouldn't rely on other people that way. Especially if you want to be like them." Mitsuru went against Zorome.

"But Futoshi is the only one who ever took a challenge from me seriously. What's so wrong about wanting to learn from people you want to be like anyways?"

The more people you had on your side, the better. As of now, you only had Hiro - every boy was a stamen and every stamen meant an extra Franxx on your forces for when the time arrived. There was not only that to consider, but also the potential loyalty of anyone involved - the more loyal, the more you could confide in them , more people to carry the core of the conspiracy to its fruition. This of course, made Zorome all the more exceptional.

The problem with Zorome was that he idolised Papa. This was in spite of all the fear, terror and uncertainty that his actions inflicted on the Children in the Garden. The Elixirs, the disappearances, the odious ubiquitous surveillance of nearly all facets of the Children's lives - when you thought of it, ultimately Papa had to be responsible. On the other hand, Zorome, with all his naivety, placed the blame at the caretakers rather than going to the logical conclusion of blaming Papa.

It was as if Zorome yearned for Papa on a truly deep, truly emotional level.

The solution to this, when you thought about it, was right in front of you - have Zorome divert his worship of Papa onto some other, more worthy male figure.

You internally chuckled - you, a rival idol to Papa? Not possible for the greater number of Parasites. That would have to be Hiro.

For Zorome? Given how he already somewhat in awe of you? It was certainly possible - your circumstances truly were fortuitous.

You wander around the mansion for a bit, to delay your entrance. You entered the bedroom.

Mitsuru and Zorome were now asleep - or rather, Zorome was asleep while Mitsuru was pretending to be.

It did not escape your attention that Zorome was tugging at his blankets more tightly than usual.

---

You wake up early as usual. Mitsuru didn't sleep very well. Zorome, on the other hand, was uncharacteristically unphased by your snoring.

Sleep in

You decide to spend the early morning in the library.

You make your way to it. You enter the library.

The table, sprawled with paper, pen, rulers and other stationery, was an eyesore. It appeared that a certain girl with a high forehead was responsible for this awful mess - indeed, Ikuno was cutting away at pieces of blank paper to create whatever was on it. Clausewitz's book remained at her side.

Aside from a cursory glance, you don't do much else and simply retreat into your corner, away from view.

---

You drearily finish your latest book. The feeling of reading an average-at-most book was a truly unpleasant one. You place it back into the shelves.

You had a while before breakfast. You look at the small stack of books you had pilfered for later reading. At least you had options.

General Theory

---

Out of your stack of books, you pick "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" by Yoshiki Tanaka, written in 1982 AD - a period coinciding with the State of Japan's last few years of economic boom before the start of the so-called "Lost Decade", an era of economic stagnation, pessimism and ageing of the population. Even before getting onto discussing the "Lost Decade", it was worth understanding the causes had been firmly planted into the ground beforehand - the Japanese birth rate had already begun to dramatically decline before it. Beyond this rather negative state of demographic affairs however, Japan was truly enjoying an age of prosperity, if your reading was anything to go by - anime and manga, mass-produced animation and comics truly began to boom, as did popular music. It truly was a damn shame that they were forever lost in that period in that giant historical gap from 2025 onwards - the same period that you assume APE begun its ascendancy. Only books, heavily censored books no doubt, remained from that long lost golden age of human culture. Could the period of 2025 onwards be called a Dark Age akin to the results of the collapse of the Western Roman Empire?

Whatever the case, APE truly was hubristic in placing a piece of what was essentially science fiction mixed with political fiction in the Mistilteinn libraries. If they wanted their downfall to have come from a cultural relic of any age that came long before them, you'd oblige them.

> "Anno Domini 2801, the center of the government moved from the third planet of the Solar System (太陽系), Terra (地球, テラ), to Aldebaran (α Tauri) (アルデバラ ン系) system's second planet Deolia (テオリア). There, the humans pronounced the creation of the Galactic Federation (銀河連邦), and changed the calendar to the Universal Calendar (UC) (宇 暦), Year 1. At the same time, they began to expand infinitely towards the deepest regions and the edges of the Galaxy (銀河系)."

A particularly tragic thing was that before age of APE, in all its science fiction, humanity had dreamed of going to the stars. Now, stuck on a ruined cradle, humanity is seemingly begin to degenerate in a long war to total extinction - stillbirth, miscarriage. Still, a species cruel enough to make weak and defenceless Children defend Adults probably deserved extinction. {+ 2 Will}

>""Forward! Keep moving forward!" was the common language of mankind during that era. All mankind appeared to be in the most vigorous state of their biorhythm. Everyone was focused, determined, and enthusiastic. Even in the face of adversity,they did not dwell in the pathological state of self-pity." {+2 Will}

So whenceforth did humanity retreat into Plantations, what instigated this and why? Even in its previous most terrible moments, the Second World War, humanity did not crawl into caves

> "Admiral Wood, famous for his sarcastic dig at others, wrote this segment in his memoir, “…in front of me there were intelligent enemies; behind me there were incompetent comrades. I must fight both simultaneously. Besides, I am not entirely reliable either.”"

What a truly awful situation to have been in. {+1 Luck}

> "They believed the illness infecting the human society had progressed to the point where it was absolutely necessary to begin treating the root. This belief was correct. However, the majority of them, in order to more quickly begin treatment, did not choose the long term treatment that required patience and perseverance. Instead, they chose to swallow the fastest treatment where side effects could not be avoided. This strong medicine was named “dictatorship.” This was the kind of environment that set the stage for the future debut of Rudolf von Goldenbaum."

And so the people of the universe chose to submit to a tyrant, giving up their responsibility as citizens in exchange for an imagined salvation. {+ 2 Cunning}

As you continued to read this fictional history, time passed rapidly - such was the engrossment brought about by Tanaka's prose.

---

You see Ikuno heading off for breakfast. It struck as rather surprising - it was she who was went off to breakfast first rather than you!

You place a bookmark at where you were reading.

You stand and begin moving to the threshold of the library. Of course, the eyesore on the table did not escape your gaze - it truly was too much of an eyesore.

You examined it a bit closer - you've seen this battlefield before - it was Waterloo, 1815, on the even before Napoleon and Wellington's battle.

You checked the to do list: "make dice from wood. Invite Ichigo. Scissors-paper-rock for France and Britain." By the looks of it, Ikuno had just made a little wargame from her reading.

Well, who was going to be Prussia?

[] Never mind, it's none of your business.

In the particular context of this quest, I suppose we're going to gain favour from killing Klaxosaurs or otherwise pleasing Doctor Franxx, Hachi and Nana. We will then spend favour to allow us to get things as per Maid RPG and 1d4chan Highschool RPG and the following:
* Getting upgrades for our Franxx
* Requesting special privileges from APE
* Obtaining political influence (if we choose to)
* Getting artillery support from the Plantation during battle

At least, that's what I'm thinking.

You decide to go to breakfast. After it finishes, you're going to ask Ikuno if you can join in as the Prussians - that, you have decided.

---

Breakfast is simple, with nothing major - other than an easily explained awkwardness between Zorome and Mitsuru, with Zorome's occasional glance in your direction. It appears Zorome really meant what he said last night.

After a short rest waiting for the others to finish their meals and as Ikuno is talking to Ichigo, you approach the duo. Ikuno notices this, but otherwise resumes talking with Ichigo.

Ikuno propositioned to Ichigo: "... so I was wondering if you'd be interested in playing a Napoleonic War scenario..."

"I would!" Chimed Ichigo.

You - not so much barged - filtered your way into their conversation, somehow making yourself relevant by adding in background information about the battle.

"Napoleon was aiming to annihilate the British Army under Wellington's command, so that the alliance against him wouldn't have enough men to invade France."

"Thanks, Futoshi." Ikuno deadpanned.

"So, can I play Prussia? Else, it's not really Waterloo."

"I guess..." There obviously was some reluctance on Ikuno's part, as if she wanted to invite someone else, but your insistence somehow persuaded her.

---

The three of you made your way to the library.

Ikuno prepared the table and you sat at your respective seats. Ichigo, playing as France, started the battle in earnest, the clattering of crude dice made from sakura wood standing in place of the sounds of field artillery that you imagined reigned the battlefield during the actual battle.

"So now, it's the Prussians' - Futoshi's turn to enter the battle and save the day." Ikuno dryly uttered.

You added with a German accent, mimicking Blucher:

"Raise high the black flags, children. No pity. No prisoners. I'll shoot any man I see with pity in him. Forward!"

"I'd love to play again some time." You say honestly.

Your statement caught both Ichigo and Ikuno by surprise - after all, you were that fat recluse that sat in the corner, who to them had never even tried to talk to anyone - at least that was their perception of you. Even in the eyes of the other Children, the library was and had always been frequented by the two of Ichigo and Ikuno - the portly recluse had always been a afterthought tacked on after them.

Today's war game about Waterloo struck you as something special. Despite having shared the library as a space since your days in the Garden, you never had meaningfully interacted with the two of them before - Ikuno had always warded you off to get you far away from Ichigo as possible. However, today, that consideration collapsed because of necessity - because the war game needed three people.

"Then, weekly then?" Ichigo chimed.

Ikuno grunted lightly in agreement.

Having friends that didn't view you as an object of pity felt good - you could feel your cheeks warming.

You picked up from where you left.

> "In this manner, the establishment of the Free Planets Alliance was solemnly declared. It took place in SE 527. The first generation of its citizens numbered around 160,000. More than half of their comrades had perished during the Long March."

> It was far too small a number to truly say that humanity had been divided, but the founders of the Free Planets Alliance possessed incomparable diligence and passion, and by their power, material fulfillment was rapidly attained. Special measures were encouraged, and the population grew. A national establishment was put in order, and the agricultural and industrial production capacity steadily increased.

There went APE again with the censorship. What "special measures"? How did the FPA's population begin to expand? Regardless, there seemed to be a pattern to this censorship - whenever population expansion was mentioned, there never seemed to be any specific references to how it occurred. {+1 Cunning}

> Pao Lin—commander in chief of the alliance military—was a befriender of women, a heavy self-intoxicator, and a glutton, and although the statesmen of the alliance—who placed great importance on an ancient and puritanical simplicity of lifestyle - were apt to cast a cold eye on his behavior, the man was a genius when it came to tactics and strategy.

You chuckled lightly. So apparently for Adult caste individuals in this fictional future "befriending women" was a vice on the level of self-intoxication and in Pao Lin, it coexisted with gluttony? What was so wrong about befriending women? Furthermore, Pao Lin escaped political scrutiny by being a genius at 'tactics and strategy.' A role model, where despite such flaws, one can ascend the political ladder throguh sheer competence? {+2 will}

> Moreover, the total population of humanity, which had numbered three hundred billion at the height of the Galactic Federation’s prosperity, had by this time plummeted to forty billion, due to the long years of chaos.

Given this, how much did the human population of our Earth decline over the ages? {+ 1 Cunning}
