You are pilot HARRY NEUMANN, the newest of one of the New UN Spacy's Tactical Sound Units!

Currently, you were in a firefight with some Zentradi in an attempt to disable a network of Zentradi weapons platforms to allow Dorothea and the fleet to break through and retake the Torman Mining Hub.

Unfortunately, the Zentradi were quick to retaliate, taking cover and firing at you and Lara, leaving the both of you no choice but to fire back. The room strobes with light from your muzzle flashes as you pour autocannon fire into them. In a few brief seconds, all the Zentradi are slain. However, most of the control equipment is destroyed as well, the consoles smoking and smoldering in the aftermath.

"Well shit." Karla grunts as you see her and her team dash up. "This is going to be a problem. We're going to have to find a way to bypass the controls here..."

"How long will it take?" You ask.

"Too long." Karla says grimly.

You glance to a still intact screen showing a NUNS frigate exploding from enemy fire. Even with Amy's songs supporting the push, it wasn't enough. The longer the fight dragged on, the more casualties the fleet would take...

Damn, there wasn't much you could do when it came to computer systems, especially when a good deal of them were already junked by cannon and laser fire. Then again, your own Valkyrie was basically a giant computer...

"Karla." You speak up. "You think we could use a Valkyrie as a stand in for the control system?"

"It's... possible." Karla concedes. "One might not be enough. Two can definitely do it, but it'll put both of them out of action and II don't like the idea of leaving us undefended."

"Don't you have anti-Zentradi weapons?" You ask.

"Of course." Karla motions to heavy rocket launchers her team were lugging around. "But it's quite a limited supply."

You hesitate for a second, but seeing a heavy beam laser glance off the Pacifica's defense barriers is finally what convinces you to go all in.

"Plug both our Valkyries in. We'll just hope we get lucky." You say.

"Gotcha." Karla nods and turns to her team, who immediately start pulling cables out of the destroyed consoles as well as your Valkyries.

"Hey, don't scratch the paint!" Lara grumbles as she pops her canopy open. "Or I'll break your necks!"

As you open your canopy and hop down, you see Karla's eyes glance up at your fuselage for a brief second. She then looks at you and grins as she saunters off towards one of the hastily repaired control consoles.

Yeah, there was no way she didn't see the pinup of Lara and Dorothea on the side of your Valkyrie. Though you wonder why she didn't say anything about it...?

Well, there were bigger things to worry about, and you had to focus.

"Great, so what do we do now?" Lara wonders.

"We'll just keep an eye on things." You tell Lara as you open up a side panel in your Valkyrie, revealing a stashed away EX-GEAR suit for emergencies. Sure it didn't have any built in firepower, but it would give you enough mobility to stay one step ahead of the big and lumbering Zentradi.

You also pick up one of the missile launchers specially designed to take out Zentradi. Honestly, it was more meant to be a weapon of last resort, but you couldn't afford to be picky right now.

Meanwhile, Karla and her team plug your Valkyries into the system and dead screens start flickering to life.

"Now let's see if this works..." Karla mumbles to herself.

"Lara! Let's trip him up!" You radio to her.

"Gotcha!" Lara nods, instantly understanding what you mean as she dashes ahead.

Meanwhile, you spin around, your launcher aimed and ready to fire. The pursuing Zentradi is caught off guard as you fire, the missile spiraling and shrieking through the before exploding in the giant's face. The Zentradi roars in pain as the flash and smoke temporarily blinds him and he reflexively stumbles forward...

...right into the tripwire Lara had hastily set up. You dive for cover as the Zentradi's foot catches on the cable, causing him to lose his balance and fall forward, his face slamming into a wall and bending his head in an unnatural angle with a sickening CRACK as he goes down.

He doesn't get back up.

"Nice shot, Cap!" Lara whoops.

"Nice work, Lara." You grin.

"We are in business!" Karla cackles over the radio. "The weapons platforms are going offline and the fleet's advancing! Now we just have to wait for them to arrive and take over!"

"So Karla, you and your team going to be okay from here?" You ask.

"Yeah, we'll manage." Karla replies. "Better go and impress that Admiral of yours!"

You don't dignify that with an answer as you and Lara return to your Valkyries. The cables connecting them to the consoles are cut and the two of you quickly boost out back the way you came.

Them moment you hit open space and your battle computer updates the situation, you notice that the fighting has now gotten MUCH closer to the mining hub. With the weapon platforms down, there was nothing stopping the fleet from pushing forward, forcing the Zentradi defenders further and further back. At the moment, it seemed as what was left of the Zentradi fleet was preparing for one last, desperate counterattack against the Pacifica.

The captured flagship was still inactive. Looking at your screens, it appears that what was left the crew was putting up a much tougher fight than expected, preventing the NUNS boarding teams from seizing full control of the ship. The resistance was stubborn enough that Kellerman was contemplating just scuttling the whole ship.

As for SMS and their diversionary force... comms with them had been unnervingly quiet. True, the debris field played all sorts of hell with communication, but the lack of intel was concerning. What if the diverted Zentradi forces had turned around...?

You bank towards the currently derelict Zentradi flagship, now surrounded by several NUNS ships as boarding teams attempted to secure the massive ship. You also noted the presence of allied Zentradi ships as well, their own macronized marines proving to be a much needed asset in a situation like this.

"Kellerman, do you read me?" You query over the radio.

"Kellerman's back with the fleet, so I'm in charge of the boarding actions!" Julie replies, the sounds of gunfire audible in the background. "What can I help you with?"

"Um, we were wondering what we could do to help secure the flagship." You say. "What's the situation?"

"Well, a group of holdouts have fortified themselves in the secondary bridge." Julie sighs. "We're trying to root them out but they're being pretty damn stubborn about it. Our guys are stretched thin trying to secure the rest of the ship's critical systems, so I'm a bit short on bodies right now..."

"Well, I guess we could volunteer." Lara mumbles.

"All right, hold on, we're on our way in." You say.

"I'll be waiting!" Julie says cheerfully.

You and Lara fly down to one of the open hangar bays, which had been repurposed as a staging point for the boarding forces. allied Zentradi marines wave at you come in and helpfully point out the way to go.

"Jeez, they really did a number on this place." Lara grunts.

"That they did." You nod in agreement as your Valkyries slide through the halls.

Everywhere, the walls were scorched and holed from laser and cannon fire, and there was blood spattered everywhere. Zentradi bodies choked the hallways and were hastily shoved to the side to make room to pass through. Perhaps once the ship was secured there would be enough time to process and properly dispose of them.

It's not long till you see Julie in her battlesuit with a squad of Zentradi marines hold position outside of an open doorway. Every so often, laser fire would spit out through it, drilling into the poor wall on the opposite end.

"Glad you guys could make it!" Julie says happily as her battlesuit waves. "As you can see, they're pretty well dug in there..."

"Numbers?" You ask.

"About a dozen." Julie shrugs. "Probably the last of the command crew."

"Prisoners?" Lara asks curiously.

"Not a priority." Julie replies flatly.

"We're ready to go!" One of the Zentradi marines says, he and a few of fellows hefting large shields to provide a modicum of mobile cover.

Still, those things were basically just metal sheets. Maybe your pinpoint barriers would do a better job...

You and Lara move in, pinpoint barriers powered up and raised. Almost immediately, a storm of beam fire meets you, slamming into the luminescent wall of energy protecting you. The barrier flashes and your Valkyrie shudders from each impact, but it holds.

With the enemy Zentradis' opening salvo spent, Julie and her marines take the chance to retaliate, stepping in and unleashing their own torrent of gunfire into the room. Enemy Zentradi are cut down in swathes, but a few survive the return onslaught and you see one in the back preparing the throw a grenade.

Is 0 crit success or crit fail?

No matter the result, I hope Admiral takes it a lot better than Lara. Though, it may depend on how it's revealed since a flyby to the bridge in front of EVERYONE would probably cause her to freak out at us in private.

I mean, it would definitely put any potential for hot and sweaty lewds on hold for a week or more until we make it up to her.

No sex for a few weeks is a worthy price to pay to see everybody's faces.

"Caaaaaap." Lara growls, getting ready to do some not very nice things to you.

However, you don't give Lara the opportunity, instead blasting off and zipping through the the ship's halls, forcing her to follow you.

"Thanks a lot, Julie, but we bettergetgoing!" You say quickly.

"Caaaaaaap!" Lara yellows, now more annoyed and furious than ever.

As you leave the flagship, you note that fighting overall has pretty much ceased. Not only was the flagship finally pacified, but the mining hub seemed to be in NUNS hands. At this point, there wasn't much to do but return to the Pacifica.

And if that was the case, you might as well show Dorothea your surprise, right...?

As combat operations began to wind down, you got the recall order to return to the Pacifica, which was well and good since that was what you were planning to do anyways, but with a bit of a twist!

You take a deliberate route that would bring you flying across the bridge of the Pacifica, where you and the pinup would be well within visual range of the entire bridge crew. It would be a good old fashioned buzzing.

"Wait a minute..." Lara grunts as she pursues you in her Valkyie. "Oh no, you aren't-"

"I am." You chuckle.

"You son of a bitch, Cap." Lara groans.

But there's no time to do anything else, as you fly straight across the bridge, making sure to show the pinup to everybody present.

Comms are silent for a few seconds, leading you to fear that nobody had seen what had just passed by, but thankfully and reassuringly, Dorothea's voice comes up with barely restrained fury an embarrassment.

"Captain. Explain." She says simply. While her tone sounded outwardly emotionless, you got the serious impression it was taking up all of her willpower to not scream at you or melt in front of everybody present.

>I'm not sure what you're talking about, Admiral~.
>I'm pretty sure it explains itself~.

"I'm not sure what you're talking about, Admiral~." You reply with a taunting tone. "It's just an innocent pinup, you know?"

"Captain." Dorothea says as cooly as she can manage. "Once you land, report to my office. Immediately."

Well... it looks you really struck a nerve with her or something. A bit hard to tell since she had to keep her mask of professionalism up in public.

But in either case, even though the battle was finally over, things were just starting to heat up...

>And that's all for tonight! As always, next thread is next week, and don't forget Frontier Knight on Saturday!
