You are Jeremiah Sol, a newly transferred student to Erebus academy in the elven city state of Nileth. In a span of two weeks, you are doing your best to settle in balancing between your studies, your social life and managing your ever-growing fiances.

With Yvaal, you finally found the one who stole the dying sun flower from Mr. Ludwill. However, Yvaal chose not to write the article who she ever so wanted thanks to you.

These photos might be quite useful for you in the future. You chose to keep them for now instead of getting rid of them.

Crap, you were getting late for your first Chess Class . You quickly bolted out of the main building to go to the E.A one

It was a hassle to get there especially with everyone going about. Eventually, you did find your way.

Th chess room wasn't as small as you thought it would be. It had a small whiteboard and a couple of desks on the side. The rest of the room was dominated by chess tables, a single flat T.V and white noise music on the background. The long black curtains and the soft lightning gave this isolation feeling to the room. Speak of which, not a single sound came from outside... soundproof walls? They are taking it seriously.

They were less than 15 students around here. Most of them were elves. Typical. Almost all of them gave you a disgusted look as if you wound up in the wrong place.

Not Vlan though.

"I was getting worried, I thought you might not show up." He briefly looked behind him "Don't mind them. Their altitude won't bring them anywhere, here."

"What's this?"

"Our Math MCQ homework, You didn't pick up your copy. It was the last one in the Library."

>oh yeah, totally forgot about that. Thanks
>So where is our teacher?

"Your are welcome." The teacher hadn't arrived yet so you told him everything in the mean time. You did promise to tell him about this.

"Personally, i would report her; no one is above the law, Jeremiah." He wasn't content with your decision "But, I will pretend i did't hear anything. You are my friend, I respect your choices be it right or wrong."

"i am back.Sorry about this call, My aunt kept going on and on and on..." Ah, so this is your chess teacher. A relatively young elven teacher with burning red skin and long blonde hair which was as smooth as untouched silk. For a teacher, he wore less formal clothes than others. He is a Kendyal elf for certain.

Your people used to trade with them after the heretic queen broken the isle's Isolation. A lot of Half elves in your isles were basically the off spring of Kendyalians. Their elven city state Kendyeth has the isles under its territories potentially protecting it from other city states.

His green eyes caught yours, The man almost gasped " Ixy'e Ette Callei? Ferrane Hi'hielto!" This was definitely his local language, most of the Ferran has it as their second language. Your time in the Isle was short, you barely recall anything from your hometown.

"Haha, yes!" The red skinned elf laughed. He called you a blood brother. Brother here meant between races (Kendyal elves and Ferran humans ) you called him a younger blood brother poking fun of him. It is an in-joke thing.

"Alright, alright. Fun time is over. i am Mr. Muelden to the others teaches. To you, I am Muel ...The guy who will hone your chess skills and maaybe help one of you out in kick the ever loving shit out of other W'nah in the City state Chess Championship. " He pointed at pictures of other students who won the championship in the past year. So far, 4 have won. All elves.

"Today, we will do pretty much nothing. This is our little family. I must get to know my boys and girls together..."

Vlan was the first one to speak, You were surprised/intimated by how many Tactics he knew. Others showed little reaction except for Monamon who was a bit concerned about this.

"...how about you, Jeremiah? Tell us how do you play chess? do you have special tactics?"

>Nah, I play freely. No plans

The class burst in laughter with some trickling tears from their eyes. Vlan didn't, it was more of an embarrassment to him like a child wetting himself in the public.

"Now, now. We are family." Mr. Muelden settled things down a bit. "Obviously he has a lot to learn. All of us have to start somewhere."

You didn't pay much attention to the rest of the class; their laughs got under your skin. You left the class feeling underwhelmed and defeated. Pricks.

Break time.

You skimmed through he shelves for a bit before finding what you were looking for. An old book which focused more on explaining various elven poems. But first, you had to deal with the Librarian, after signing in, He allowed you to borrow it for a single week.

_______________

A lot of students apparently chose E.M.A for their E.A. You found Shiwe, Ronk...and Hioelke. He was chatting with some of his friends. Monamon was there too, what a coincidence.

You wanted to speak with Shiwe but you didn't have the chance ; once everyone was here, an orc and an elf addressed all the students. The elf was slim with defined, fit body. She wore a red sports bra and a black yoga pants . Sweat was glinting across her ab muscles. She had two wrist wraps as well as an arm wrap on her right arm. She tied up her auburn hair so it won't bother her around.

The orc on the other hand was more muscular than the elf but not too much. He didn't look like the guys you saw in the gym. His body was properly built for E.M.A not for weightlifting. He wore a black boxer with a white undershirt. He had an almost squarish chin, his whole face felt too blocky to you. Looks like he had recently shaved both his head and face. Like the elf, he was sweating too. Just what were they doing before the class?

"Come on, Come on. Gather all up boys and girls." Said the elf, once her eyes were on Shiwe, She balled her fist in excitement "Yes, pay up. Big boy."

The orc sighed before pulling out his wallet "You go girl!" Shiwe wasn't comfortable with so many eyes on her. This must have been a bet between the two.

"Hi, I am Zarxell and this wall of beef here is my husband Yorgme. We are your coaches slash teachers for elven martial arts. We will get the boring stuff out of the way real quick so listen up..." Miss Zarxell spoke about the general rules around here. There weren't a lot so it was easy to catch up with them. Next up, she gave everyone keys for their lockers. Yours was numbered 47.

Mr. Yorgme gave you and the rest the rundown on what and what not to do in the shower room. Yeah, It is for the best to visit Ika to buy an E.M.A uniform . A second set of the academy uniform might not be a bad idea either. Ronk was severely disappointed, he thought we would really get started this weak. Instead, it was talking talking and more talking.

"Hey," Shiwe approached you after the class was finished.

"Hey Shiwe, how's Gulpy?"

"Good, good. I am returning it to you next week." She paused for a second " Are you...going to the trip tomorrow?" Her eyes flickered to her right left checking if there is anyone behind her back.

"She loves to make others pay for anything. Just a warning."
____________

You bought a cup of noodles from Waxwell before leaving the academy. You just had to go to the white stag; You getting uncomfortable with these stains.

Miss stag was enjoying her hookah while listening to a small radio. Despite being a heavy smoker, her singing voice was pretty good, better than yours and Miss Gallel at least.

"I want to have this trou...oh." You had just realized that you got nothing to wear while it is inside the washing machine.

The white haired dryad huffed more smoke in the air "You are not too bright, aren't you boy? I am charging 5 pon for single item clothing, comes with my special sap."

"I'll come back later wit-"

"Don't be a such pussy. I got a room for you to wait inside. Hmph, boys these days.."

You went inside to a room which literally had nothing in it except a single chair and a red carpet.

"Come on, give it to me." She extended her sickly arm behind the half opened door. You took it off and handled your trousers to her.

Just as you were browsing your phone. Miss Stag came back, locking the door behind her.

"Miss Stag..?" You felt threatened after hearing clicking sound of the door.

"What? Oh..." She rolled her eyes casually. "You actually thought i was going to molest you or something, boy? Oh please, you are way below my standards. None are . "

"I wanted to talk to your privately. Let's say i got a ... rich customer who keeps forgetting his laundry . I need someone to deliver this to him and this someone happens to be you because unlike him, i never forget. "

The dryad pulled out two panties, one was black and the other was red and transparent. Both were cleaned with her special sap "I am not forcing you to be my delivery boy. In fact, you can walk out right now." She unlocked the door right after.

"Do that however and you miss these." She pulled out 500 pon from her bra pocket. She kept closing in on your until she was a breath away from your face "...but most importantly, you will miss my gratitude ."

" Big Bishop runs the Aliblasters . Don't let any one shittalk you, boy. Say my name and they will let you in. " The dryad gave you the pons and her number "Call me when it is done."

_____________

Just like Ronk had described it, The Aliblasters was a giant marketplace for anything related to video games. Bootlegs were everywhere but some sold legit stuff here. You couldn't help but notice a lot of bulky guys just standing around doing nothing. Weird.

You ignored everything around you and headed for this 3 storied building. It had the most flashy signs so this bishop guy must be there, right?

Its first floor was brimmed with recently released games and consoles . Lots of expensive stuff. There was an elevator with a sign on it 'STAFF ONLY'. This has to be the right way.

"No games in second or third floor." A bulky orc blocked your path. He probably never smiled in his whole life with this face.

For some reason, the orc sniffed you. The smell of the sap was quite overwhelming. "Alright, Come with me."

The orc took you to the third floor. He led you through a series of hallways to a small office "Give me your phone. I will give it back on the way down. Wait here."

Ten minutes later, a large man in a suit had entered the room. His large belly was tightly tucked in by a black belt. Who would have thought video game business was so profitable ? He had all sorts of rings and necklaces. They didn't look fake or cheap. Huh.

The right side of his face was tattooed in an artsy way; lots of circles and lines like a small maze on his face. He had little facial fair. Even his eyebrows were real thin. He had a glass cup of iced Fuzzpuzz soda in his left hand

"Tell me kiddo, what's your name?" He took a quick sip, waiting for an answer

He opened the plastic bag and saw the panties. Big Bishop took a deep breath while closing his eyes. He kept inhaling and exhaling a couple of times. Once that was done, he drank his soda in one go almost slamming it on the table.

"Listen, Alex, You...you are still very young. This... work, it doesn't suit you. Stick to your academy, graduate , find some good work and settle down with a nice girl. Keep it clean and don't wind up like...some people."

"Okay?"

The orc who took your phone knocked on the door first before entering the Office. "Thanks for the laundry, Alex. I'll be sure to repay the stag very, very soon... "

Miss Lilim is doing what she can to make things easier on you and others. It is only fair to help her out. But first you had to call Vlan to tell him about this. He was more or less okay with this once you explained the situation to him.

Three other students stayed this day. You were glad to stay as well .It was't long before the plumbing parts had arrived first. It made sense to install them first. There were a lot of workers around, they did their job rather quickly. For some reason, you were slightly paranoid of them stealing anything while they were unsupervised. You kept a good eye on them just in case.

Then the real deal showed up ;the kitchen set had arrived but not only that... Wow, three fridges? two ovens and a microwave ? they didn't look cheap either. You and the others did a lot of lifting going back and forth from the truck(s) to the kitchen.

One final truck had arrived, it had lots of furniture and cooking essentials. By then, all of you were dead exhausted. There was still some cleaning to be done but Miss Lilim took care of it.
___________

It is 5:29 PM. Everything was pretty much over. Miss Lilim asked the four of you to chill a bit in the lounge a while ago. The guys (and gal) who helped along were pretty chill. True it wasn't a bombastic experience like the trip but this felt like the right thing to do.

"Food is ready, come on!" Food? what food?

You came back to the kitchen only to witness a giant roasted turkey with a couple of side dishes. "I...i want to thank you all for this. It really meant a lot to have you by my side."

The food was delicious, it felt like a reward of it self. She was really a good cook.

Afterwards, you helped her with the dishes. Your body was begging for sleep at this point. You'll find out what happened in the trip tomorrow; you can't bother to wait for Ronk to tell you about it. Time for some early, well deserved sleep.

________
You woke up feeling refreshed and reinvigorated. Wow, that must have been +10 hours of sleep right there. Most of the non elves around you were exceptionally happy today, weird.

Miss Lilim had spent a good chunk of last night preparing breakfast for everyone as a celebration to the new kitchen. Currently, there were three choices available :

- Orabo Ashen leaflets , with strawberry milk. You only had to reheat it to enjoy a delightful breakfast.

- Quasl cheese sandwhiches , you haven't eaten this yellowish green cheese before. It is popular among centaurs; something about lots of herbs inside.

- Jiuie or Orcish pancakes, they are very thick and hard to swallow. Actually, several people have choked on it before. It is very filling though. They are home made as well.

You sat next to Ronk who was munching through Jiuie like it was made out of butter "Oooooh Jay, my guy, you missed a LOT yesterday."

"Someone had to stay with Miss Lilim, you know. What happened anyways?"

"There was the main show, nothing special...just elves doing their thing being all uppity." Ronk took one last bite of his pancake "but Maaan oh man the Aeri'lel was awesome!"

"The...what? Fake..plant time?"

"Yeah, yeah. Turns out that the elves made a second show to recreate what happened on a smaller scale but instead of real actors, anyone can join! Roles are randomly selected so no one can call dibs on a leader or something. The name is a stab against the dryad guy who doubted the historical accuracy of the event."

"What's the point?" you finished your bowel "It is not like they'll give the chance for humans to wi-"

" Oh but they did! . First victory EVER, Jay. By a girl in OUR academy nonetheless. Your elven boyfriend is pretty pissed about it."

"Really? Is it that big of a deal? " apparently it was. You were glad that nothing escalated during the event.

________

With Ronk, you arrived to the academy on time only to be greeted by swarms of TV vans and numerous reporters standing next to the main gate.

Oh wow, Vlan didn't show up. This is unusual. The elves of your class were either bummed out or pissed at the whole thing. The notable exception was Yvaal who was super excited; her eyes were glued to the window. There were a lot of notes on her desk.

Miss Lyiah showed up with her thermal cup of coffee. She didn't as tired as she usually was. "Urgh, all these hassle outside.. show me your homework. Otherwise, Get out of my sight. "

A couple of students left he class silently. Miss Lyiah had intentionally inserted a couple of devious questions in her MCQs; they didn't have a proper answer in the choice. She was very glad with you pointing it out (It was actually Cassandra who found it but oh well) . Without Vlan's remarks, the class was quieter than usual. The rest of it was spent on a quick revision on previous topics.

Terreth was waiting at the door when Miss Lyiah had finished "After Home economics, rest of the day is off. Principal orders. " The class was thrilled with these news. This is probably thanks to the hordes of press outside.

The home economics teacher arrived shortly afterwards with a arching smile on his face "Good Morning Class, today we will discuss some household emergencies and how to deal with them."

From gas leaks to power outage. Your centaur teacher went through them quite smoothly. The class ended with the teacher asking everyone to learn the read more on traditional elven recipes chapter; next time, there will be some cooking to be done.

The courtyard was filled with TV equipment and reporters. The principal was down there talking to them enthusiastically. Some of the students left, others stayed in hopes to be shown on live TV. All were waiting for this girl though. She hadn't finish her class just yet; Miss Yuragos was doing her best to 'punish' this girl and her class. What a twisted mentality.

You called Vlan to check on him. He did thank you for your concern assuring you that everything is fine. He did mention urgent family business. Nothing on the event though. Too salty to say anything about it.

No harm in hanging out here a bit, right? You stayed way in the back in the courtyard. Finally, the poetry class was done, she was out with the rest of her class.

The girl in question was a human like you with long black hair and a grim face. She was a bit more muscular and taller than Shiwe with creamy skin and blueish grey eyes. She had a bandaid on her nose and others all over her face and arms; She must have played really rough yesterday.

"... this young student named Livendagen from Erebus academy who showed spectacular performance and bravery in the second event of the reenactment. Tell us, what prompts you to abandon your defensive positions and throw your helmet only to advance against the Nileth forces? What it out of despair? or just a random strategy born in the heat of battle? Why do you think your allies followed you and fought feverishly? "

"I did what was right. If i am to die to Elven...soldiers. I won't die cowering behind some palisades. I will come to death, not the other way around. Hope and the will to exist are powerful weapons, they outshine any superiority the enemy might have."

Every word of hers was brimmed with immense black hatred, she didn't attempt to hide it either. More reporters asked her a couple of question, she gave them an equivalent answer with the same tone. You felt like the principal was forced to give her a recommendation on live TV just to show how great the academy and its administration were.

You started to study some botany for once. Oof, lots of terms to memorize. It became a bit easier when you put them in a chart. By 6 PM, you had your share of botany. You were starting to have a headache, a quick cup of Coco will fix it right away.

You found Monamon in the kitchen, next to the new electric Kettle. The pixie's wing were almost vibrating with a buzz sound. It was really difficult to interpret their emotions and body language. The pixie actors on TV and movies spent years trying to mimic normal expressions to be acceptable to the masses. You were waiting silently for your turn when she spoke to you " Vosnosm, I...accept your offer. Help us with the essay."

>At least don't say the voso thing, it is outright rude

"He is fine with it." she stated.

"Okay, I'll bring my stuff first. Lounge or garden?"

"Not here. Too loud. " Well she did have a point; it was all rowdy with that ongoing Lokk match "I know a place. It isn't too far."

Before leaving, you took your poetry book(s) with you. To be honest, you were starting to feel a bit skeptic about all of this but you decided to go along with it.

Monamon wasn't kidding, it was a 15 minute walk in a direction you didn't normally take. She led you to a recently abandoned building. The elven sign next to it said something something three weeks from now. Sure it was old but it looked fine? Maybe the landowner wanted to build something more profitable instead.

The pixie approached the old guard of the building who was about to sleep on his creaky chair, He gave her a semi toothless smile before unlocking the entrance door. They seem to know each other so this is not her first visit.

Once inside, It smelled really weird like an amalgamation of cleaning products with rotten eggs. The small slits on Monamon's face started to fluctuate; she really hated this smell too. She hovered with a perturbed face over the stairs while you had to endure ascending seven floors since there were no working elevators.

The smell was all gone when you and her reached the rooftop. It was... quiet . Too quite actually. Kind of surprising from this distance. Three chairs and a small table were waiting for you on the roof. Good.

You took a seat "Which school is the essay about?"

" The Zoiel'xes. Sorry, Z..zoii..z..Joiel'xes." Ah, so it is a pronunciation thing. She was better than her brother though.

Well, you had a couple of hours before curfew. Better start delving into more elvish nonsense.

It was excruciating to work through all these elven names and their poetic signatures. This school relied heavily on metaphors to express themselves . They even had an established rule on how many metaphors to implement according to the length of the poem which sounded silly to you. They are one of the most conservative schools with little drastic reformations and hence almost no adaptation to modern literature.

You did your part, it was impossible to write down the whole thing in one setting but you made it much easier for the dyad to finish.

"It's getting late." said Monamon, there were about half an hour remaining before curfew time. Yeah, It is for the best to leave. Throughout this whole sitting, she maintain more or less the same expression like some robot. You didn't say much of course, you were starting to realize that TV and movies gave you (and others) a false impression on how pixies really act in real life. Anyways, aside from the spiral of endless stairs and the obnoxious smell, this spot wasn't too bad. You can understand why the pixie chose this place.

As you were returning back to the pods, you stumbled upon a drunken orc with an unkempt beard and oil/sweat stained clothes. He pointed at you hazily with his greasy index "eee-ey, k-kidd.... you, I saw youuu berfore! yeah, yeah did i? .... I swear. I-i wann..a 50 pons . Hel-p me out here. i'll neeed it reak quickkkk.." 'c-come on ma..n, 40? 20?" You didn't wait to hear more of his drunken rabble. He didn't follow you or anything; too disoriented to do anything fruitful.

With Monamon, you returned just in time. She thanked you for helping her. It was the right thing to do. When you opened your pod, you found a soft blanket on the bed. It was starting to get colder. Back in your hometown, it was still summer occasionally spiking over 40c.

Time to sleep.

_________
Thursday , 22nd of January. Light drizzle

You woke up smelling something funny in the air. Apparently, one of the girls decided to make Olyop Jello for everyone. Oh yeah, you heard about those before... actual jellyfish is one of the main ingredients. It has this stingy but sweet taste to it, pretty popular in coastal areas (especially among children).

"Here you go!" She gave you a plate. It had little nutritious value yet its unique gelatinous nature is quite filling. You thanked her for this lovely surprise.

Well, You still got time before Miss Gallel's call...then again, you are okayish on pon. Hmmm. Temperature will drop soon enough, it wouldn't hurt to buy some extra clothes for the future.

"Hey Ronk, wanna go to the gym? "

"Yeah! Thats..." His excitement dispersed in an instant "Nah man, i gotta work, sorry."

"Its cool, see you later." He had a financial blow lately. Shame.

________

Power hour gym was quite busy today. Lots of men and woman buffing themselves out. Power, the owner, would occasionally check on his customers giving them advice and what not.

You kept lifting dumbbells for quite some time. They were kind of light; sure heavier weights were more beneficial but you wanted to develop muscle endurance. Besides, you still got the modelling job later today. There is no need to overstrain yourself.

"Oh hey Jeremiah.." a familiar voice called you. It was Shiwe "Funny, i actually wanted to call you today."

"What for?"

"Gulpy, i think you should have it for next week. " You still couldn't believe what happened to her uncle. You were glad that she was moving on.

"Sure, I am starting to miss this little bugger." The Albino orc smiled "Hey, do you want to do some push ups with me? like in a contest? "

It started a bit intense at first but you took it nice and slow. After the 60th one, You had won with Shiwe collapsing on the floor; she spent her energy way too early . Never underestimate yourself "How's that?"

"Good, good..." Shiwe wasn't salty or anything. In fact, she was happier than before. Nothing beats some blood rush in the morning.

You spent some time working out with her, she was far more insightful than you (no surprise here). The orc shared some of her tips with you. Unlike Ronk, she was less haphazard in her workout.

After a quick shower, you wore the last of your clean clothes. Your muscles were all tense "You can have this."

"What's that?" Shiwe gave you her bottle, it was filled with.... thick greenish liquid. It wasn't clear at all.

"My home shake drink. " It would be rude to refuse. You started to gulp it down. Oh no....

Instantly, you were starting to regret touching this brew of doom in the first place. "Something wrong?"

"Its...fine." Come on, you gulped down orcish food before. Just keep it inside. "Thank you...Shiwe"

Your art teacher had arrived a bit later than usual, her car had a lot of groceries and other things. The road back to her home was smooth with no one troubling you. She did notice your pale face but you brushed it off; no need to worry her about nothing.

"Mommy had bought new colours, " she started to unpack them " special colours for body painting that glows in the dark. Mommy needs her special cutie to stay very still . Don't worry, i am working on your pretty, pretty face. That's it."

You sat on the chair like a statue waiting for Miss Gallel to start smudging your face. She wrapped a towel over your neck so your clothes won't get stained in the process. Oh man, these are a lot of colours.

You did your best to remain still during the whole thing. Miss Gallel used a lot of brushes and colours. Sometimes she stroke your skin gently, other times she dotted your face instead. They had this distinct smell to them, it was oddly pleasant. Curiosity was slowly starting to eat you from the inside; two hours later and you still have no idea what was drawn on your face. She was mostly done; only your mouth and chin left.

Miss Gallel dropped her brush when someone rang the bell. She left you momentarily to open the door. You were not sure about this but you heard some muffled exchange of words followed by a door's slam.

Your Art teacher came back soon after "We'll...take a short break." She took a long breath "You must be all hungry. Let me make you something to eat real quick.."

"Tea? I got just the right thing for you." Miss Gallel came back minutes later with a cup of tea. The label of the teabag said something something farms. Whatever it was, it felt like a decent brand. Your assumption was correct after the sip; it gently started to cleanse your stomach. The uncomfortable gurgles were gone. Thank goodness.

Once this little break was over, Miss Gallel finished the rest of your face. You went with her to the studio room where she had blacklight for this occasion.

You finally saw your face in the mirror, it had this tribal feeling to it with wavy lines and soft short strokes. The dots were just right in number as well, they were of the same colour which added some consistency. Miss Gallel then took dozens of shots, she asked you to wear different expressions each time. Some were harder to pull off than others.

After washing these colours off, Miss Gallel drove you back home. It was 5:38 , perhaps the shortest modelling session to date. She gave you 250 pons before leaving. Nice.

You just had to get the rest of your clothes cleaned, there was no way around it. Huh, Miss Stag wasn't there. A centaur took her place instead.

"Hmm? You want something cleaned?" he asked you while skimming through the daily Nileth.

"Gimme! Gimme!" The elf sighed as he handled her a burger sandwich... was it what they were playing for?

"Yay!" Cassandra sunk her teeth in the tasty burger "Oh hey, Jerm-" She started to cough uncontrollably thanks to the chunks she was gulping down.

You brought her some water "Hoof, thanks! Wanna chess with me?"

"Yeah...actually can you tell me more about those tactics? I play without them most the time ."

"Sure!" She used a wet napkin to clean her somewhat greasy hands "It is very easy to follow, Tactics determine how you will play throughout the match, a good tactic is the one with little counter tactics to it. Let me show you."

She rearranged the chess board "Do you remember the Lamenting mother right? It is really weak against Glorious March , an offensive tactic relying on pawns backed by other set pieces. Try to beat me with Lamenting mother."

Jeremiah used Lamenting Mother

A rather annoying argument has broken in the morning; an elf was accusing another of health her Leitelé (Some fancy elven salad with different assortment of vegetables). Miss Lilim had to interfere eventually when it was about to get out of control, She really shouldn't have given pon to that elf as a compensation.

"All this fuss about some salad?" Cassandra yawned next to you, her eyes were still half shut "Lame. Can you... go with me to Doslo Dals this afternoon? they are dishing some *mad* discounts on everything. Going alone brings bad memories, ugh." She looked perturbed as she finished her sentence.

"What, scared of long aisles or something?" you shouldn't have joked about this; her face went pale "I used to get lost a lot when i was kid. Mom, she wasn't a ... never mind."

The bus had this Orc woman shouting profanities at her husband on the phone all the way to the academy. It was something about child custody and its evergrowing expenses. Poor kid, torn between his/her parents forcing them to choose one over the other. It reminded you of how blessed you are.

You snagged one before going to your class room. A good portion of the students had already bought it. Yvaal didn't look happy at all.

"Look at the front page, it should have been ME in there." The elf huffed angrily.

You had little time to read the whole article but the main headline was entitled 'A happy Reunion' which was about Mr. Ludwill and that old elf. You skimmed a couple of pages ahead only to find Yvaal's article in the fourth page taking a lonely column on the side. Oddly enough, there was no mention of you or Yvaal for that matter.

"That bitch , Olithe , Stealing my spot like that. ERGH"

> The reunion is more relevant to the academy than the reenactment.
> Where the hell are we in this article? we are basically responsible for this
> Don't be salty, Yvaal. There is always next time
> Be glad you made it in the first place. That's a huge milestone as of itself.
> Still beats ruining lives with your original article

>Olithe stealing poor Yvall's article.
She should have just wrote it herself instead of trying to stick to the original article she wanted.

> We are basically responsible for this,
pretty slimy journalism in my opinion.
> Be glad you made it in the first place. That's a huge milestone as of itself.

I'm pretty disappointed myself but we should stay optimistic with it. We should also say that we'll help her with her next article if we can since it was kind of our fault that she didn't run her original script.

"I know! this makes me even madder." Yvaal had much more to say but your math teacher had arrived.

"Jeremiah, Yvaal, go to the principle office." She did her best to hide her yawn. Well, that was rather specific. You left with Yvaal who lead the way since you didn't really know where was the principle office.

Once inside, you found him speaking with Mr. Ludwill. He checked you momentarily "These are the two?"

The dryad confirmed it. Mr. Jaglioth sighed deeply, his fingers drumming on the desk in a monotonous pattern "Ludwill is an old friend of mine and one of the pillars of this academy. He encouraged me...to give a recommendation for you both. Here, a gesture of our elven kindness. Use it well, human."

> With all due to respect, sir. I will decline your offer; I have to earn it with hard work instead. My friend, Yvaal did most of the work. I was just tagging along

damn that recommendation is pretty important but that blue option.. Honestly Yvall isn't that bad, I wonder why Vlan warned us against talking to her. Maybe it has to do with elf business. Either way I think it would be more in our character to be humble and say Yvall did most of the work.

The principle looked up at you a smiled "Well, well... not everyday i see a human rejecting a recommendation out of principle. What's your name again?"

"Jeremiah, sir."

"Keep the hard work and remember: Privileges always has to be earned."

_____

You left with Yvaal after she got the recommendation. You left a good impression with the principal but was it worth forsaking the recommendation? time will tell.

Today's math class was a bit tedious, you were glad you missed out a good portion of it. Once the class was done, Shiwe had gulpy with her. She gave it back to you with its food. It won't be long before it would blossom a nice flower.

"Amateurs." Vlan folded the newspaper "It feels like toddlers writing these articles."

>Give them a break, they are just getting started

" I sincerely wish for none to join the daily Nileth with that level of horrid writing." If anything he was disgusted at what he read. He pointed out a couple of grammatical errors here and there, some of the sentences didn't make sense in hindsight as well.

"My cousin lost by the way. His performance was lacking the whole match. What a shameful display. " Oh yeah, now you remember this fencing match Vlan talked about. No wonder he is all antsy like that; the reenactments, the match and the newspaper.

Mr. Quinith had showed up with an arm and a couple of bruises "Good...morning, Class." even his voice was sapped.

"An unfortunate car accident, I am fine. I can't say the same for my car...moving on, today, we will discuss the history of the humans of Magahab ."

He went slower than he used to but you did learn about these group of secluded humans. They were one of the last human societies to be discovered by the elves. There were a handful of settlers seeking a new place to call home. Much like your people, they were secluded and self sufficient. However, They were forcefully cut off from the world centuries ago when the sole exit of their home was buried with tons of boulders after a cataclysm.

The marvelous caverns of Magahab had it all, underground forests and rivers, light shimmering from small cracks in the surface and unique fauna and flora only exclusive to this place.

This isolation came to an end when a centaur explorer called Uirix Vaacx discovered this wondrous underground civilization by sheer accident. The humans of Magahab were by no means primitive, They had made advancements on their own thanks to the abundance of natural resources below. The maintained a neutral relationship with their elven neighbors.

Unfortunately, This new contact had brought strange diseases from both sides; over 95% of Magahab humans were wiped out from diseases unknown to their immune system. On the other hand, various elven Villages were wiped out due to the spread of the Miasiam fungus . This horrible fungus had no effect on Magahab humans but when its host is non human (particularly elven), it will turn its host to a rabid creature infecting as many as he/she can before self cannibalization.

Currently, Magahab is one of the few 'free' cities in the world. Prior to the events which lead to the birth of elven states, The humans of Magahab had helped the local elves immensely against the elven loyalist forces. Most of the city's non elven population are scientist delving into the untapped discoveries in the darkness below.

Once the class was done, The orange elf called you out. He bit the air above his arm and did a couple of rude gestures equating your kin to mindless zombies.

>Flip the bird
>roast him and his boys [specify]

Hioelke laughed it off with his friends. He said a couple of curses in elven, too bad you have a thick skin (and somewhat ignorant on half of what he said). All stopped however when Mr. Ludwill had arrived.

Today's class was about a series of common fungi and their means of reproduction. From budding to producing spores. He also went a bit more on the biological nature of dryads themselves and how they are compatible to 'host' one or more strains of flora (excluding the ones they are born with).

Dryads with mushroom are so rare though, since most of dryad's immune system rejects them immediately due to the potential of unwanted diseases. You haven't seen one so far.

"Study well students, we will have an exam next week. I can not stress how important it is."

_____

It was finally break time. You were starting to get hungry already. You wish you had some time for the home economics reading. It wasn't much per se, your centaur teacher will go easy on you with all this elven cooking. Kind of ironic; going straight from biology to cooking.
