This quest-pilot will run from UTC 0500 to UTC 0700 or 0800 25th of May . If successful, the quest will be resume from 0800 to 1200 UTC 26th of May and may become a proper quest.

The quest uses elements from Maid RPG and High School RPG provided on 1d4chan. The genre is sci-fi and drama with secondary focus on mecha. If this quest-pilot perseveres, it will continue until the in-universe event of the Battle of the Grande Crevasse. The quest will operate on an assumption that a set amount of days occur between each in-series episode. In days in between, random events will be used.

The aim of the game - find out what Futoshi could do if he was controlled by /qst/.

Futoshi - ~ 15 years old
---

Your story begins in the Garden. The Garden is where it all began for you - Code 214, nicknamed by Code 016 "Hiro" as "Futoshi."

You handle the spork, shoveling salmon and potato into your mouth. Dinner is one of the few times that you feel safe at. Food is your only friend. Food has never attacked you. It has never called you a fatty. For the most part at the sterile bench, you continue savouring your little meal.

You finish it and retreat to a corner. None of the other children are going to play with you. None of the other children need to play with you. It would be very nice if someone could play with you, but given how unpopularity sticks to a person no-one wants to play with you. Unpopularity is like a bad piece of jam. Once it's stuck on you, you can never get it off you. If you get bullied by a fellow Child and other Children see you getting bullied, what you get is that none of them want to play with you, as if somehow they were going to be contaminated by your presence.

556 was an exception. Every now and then she'd give you a flower. Speaking of other children, 016 isn't here. He was probably getting tests done.

You decide to sneak around. Just sitting around in the corner is going to get you bullied anyway - may as well get out of the commons and wander around somewhere else. What's the worst that can happen if any of the caretakers catch you? They'll just put you back where you were anyways.

...

You manage to make your way through a couple of corridors. The Garden is, for any Child, an immensely large place. Maybe this was far for you, but it wasn't far for the caretakers.

This was the furthest you'd yet wandered beyond the commons and the bedroom.

You notice a caretaker taking a rack full of books to the library. You've never been a particularly avid reader yourself. That would be 015 and 016. Only 016 actually understood most of the words.

As they rush to the library, a book drops off of the trolley.

You look at it. It is titled:

[]War and Peace
[]All Quiet on the Western Front
[]The Three Musketeers
[]Anne of Green Gables.

>>

>>2590642
The book - or tome - is titled War and Peace. You quickly snatch it.

---

You take the book and hog it all the way back to the common room

You try reading "War and Peace". It is a doorstopper that given your age, you simply cannot grasp but for a vague image that is forming of Pierre - a moronic man who blunders through life.

Thankfully, this time around, you've managed to avoid the others' antics.

It is night and the caretakers have the children go to sleep.

---

It is morning. The caretakers wake up the Children. As the sunlight enters through the windows, you rub your eyes.

The caretakers are serving breakfast. There's a choice this time around. You've got toast.

You pick:
[] Marmalade
[] Jam

You decide to pick marmalade as your spread of choice. As you approach the canteen in order to get your share of the marmalade from the caretaker, you see that the container containing marmalade as almost completely run out. This inevitably meant that there would be competition in the form of other Children getting to it, never minding the fact that you were first in line. In fact, the first person to come rushing in enthusiastically, almost to the point of pushing you aside was no other than an auburn-haired girl - Code 390.

You only knew her tangentially due to being familiar with Code 556. Whenever 390 followed 556 around to you for pity's sake, there was always a certain look of disdain on her.

Loud, petulant, energetic, perpetually youthful, a walking accident, brutal - a headache honesty - she apparently had the nerve to go and seize the marmalade that was rightfully yours - you had waited in line for it. It was morning, you were hungry, you'd been waiting in line and she had the gall to budge in and snatch that sweet serving of marmalade off of you!

It was yours, yours! Food's your only true comfort and someone had to magpie it away, right in front of you!

2*2 Cunning Futoshi compared to 2*1 Cunning Miku

Futoshi beats Miku
---

You request of code 390 that she shares some of the marmalade with you. You appeal to her sense of reason, or at least the modicum of the sense of reason that a child has.

"Can't you share with me marmalade?" You ask Miku.
"Eh?" Goes her questioning reply.

Of course, this wasn't any usual request to share breakfast spread. This was your marmalade and you were willing to ruin Miku's reputation over it. So thus went your reply:

"If you won't share the marmalade, everyone will think that you are greedy. You don't want the other children to think of you as greedy, do you?"

By the standards of Children, this was truly a piece of heavy-handed manipulation. Miku's infant face contorted as she began realising the implications of what you said. If she did not give you the marmalade, you were likely going to tell everyone else that she was a greedy little girl. No doubt for her, she was self-conscious of not being yet another fatty in the Garden.

"Fine..." She begrudgingly takes out her slice of toast. She takes a fork and smears some of the marmalade over to your piece.

"Thank you." You flatter her.

She totters away as if the exchange never happened.

You mind your own business and eat your marmalade toast.

---

MORNING RECREATION:

You finish the last morsels of your marmalade toast. Miku is making a very noticeable effort to stay on her side of the room.

Going missing a lot like this will probably drive a lot of people away from your quest. You should make a secure schedule so everyone knows when you're going to run.

As for choices in the quest, i'm thinking of getting a more clevel Fatoshi and avoid getting cucked. We should also go on a diet under the motivation of getting the respect of our peers.

>I've never seen a DitF quest before
Dude didn't that shit JUST finish? Of I would be suprised if you DID see a quest abour it up already.
What should catch your attention more is the fact that we're playing as an existing character rather than an OC self insert.
Half of the people around here play for the power fantasy self insert, instead of playing to develop the OC. Having a MC that is an actual character would turn alot of people off, especially with the threat of getting cucked in the near future hanging over their heads.
>>
>>2591666
>didn't that shit JUST finish?
Nah, still got a couple episodes left.

But yeah, I get you. Then again, if we did an OC, the QM would either have to make a new character just so we can pilot with her/get someone else to do it while we take their canon waifu or replace a character with our OC, so I suppose it makes sense to be Fatoshi, but still, OC or at least someone else that's less pathetic would be nice. Anyways, let's just avoid the entire situation by not falling in love like a dumbass.

This seems like an option that will do more to influence Futoshi, or at least give him something to do.
>>
I saw some of the threads on /a/ about Futoshi earlier, why exactly did some people flip out about him being dumped by Kokoro?

I understand that it has to do with him actually loving her and being left alone (for the rest of the show to die in regret most likely), but what is it that made some of the anons chimp out? He didn't exactly get cucked, It's just that Kokoro didn't have the guts to tell hom she didn't love him and he just assumed she did, and as a result he got heart broken when she left him to choose Mitsuru as a partner.
>>
Alright, I consider this pilot to be somewhat successful and will run it as a ordinary quest until my bedtime.

You decide to take advantage of your playtime by retreating away into the library.

The library is a quiet place. You doubt any of the other Children will be there. None of them will be there to torment you. The only bad thing is that you're going to be far away from the canteen. That might mean that it might take a while to get your comforting food, your culinary relief. However, even as a child, you supposed that growth demanded sacrifice - you weren't going to become more literate by munching on sweet buns.

You haul "War and Peace" to the library bench. As you lay it hard on the bench, you notice another book spread open on the bench beside you.

You investigate it.

On closer investigation, it it a copy of "Antony and Cleopatra."

The language is harshly archaic to your childish sensibilities.

Futoshi rolls a 2, multiplied by will to 4. Futoshi partially reads some War and Peace.
---
You decide to focus on your own book. There is a certain aura of nastiness on the other book. You feel that if you read the other book, you might jinx yourself. "Antony and Cleopatra" reeks of sadness. You leave that other book alone.

You plunged yourself into War and Peace.
---
The books provided by Papa are always hard. The literature that Papa has selected for you has a tendency to select archaic, almost stilted language, to the point that several hours of reading has hardly left you any better off. Either that or you are simply stupid - are you stupid? You question yourself.

The characters partially come to life before you.

Entire Pierre. As you tried your hardest to make sense of him, you began to perceive that in a way you were oddly similar to him - so out of place -

But you didn't get some of the book.

Who was Napoleon?

Where was Russia?

Who was Kutuzov?

There was no much left unknown. You wondered if you could get it all...

You here the caretakers droning on - it is time for lunch. You leave for the commons.

---

You have lunch. Somehow it just passes down into your stomach without too much thought, as if it were a natural process.

It is afternoon. You'll be free to play around, until the caretakers have everyone gather back into the commons for dinner.

You:
[] Go back to the library.

You linger around in your commons. In your corner. Rotting away. Isolated.

Actually, you're not rotting away at all. You're used to loneliness. If anything, this little corner of yours is your little kingdom from which you can look at the other kids playing. That's right. You can sit back and look at the better adjusted kids do their thing, while you just contemplate on... what to think about it.

You honestly don't know what you're expecting by staying in the "Futoshi Corner". Your fellow children are being children, picking fights over the smallest things - the male children at least.

056 has finally stopped picking autistic fights with the rest of the children. 015 is just playing around in general, somehow not being an eyesore like you. 326 is prattling on about his idol Hiro. 666 is clowning around. You could go an ruin someone's day - you just envy how everyone is more happy then you - or maybe continue minding your own business until dinner.

666 always looks so happy. Whatever is happening, 666 always seems able to find a way to smile. 666 doesn't seem to ever be sad. it is as if being sad is impossible for him. That's just wrong.

Why do you have to be the one who is always miserable? Why are children like him allowed to be happy? Why is he allowed to smile, why is he allowed to have friends, when you have to be alone? Why did you have to be the one that was either picked on or chosen last in groups? Why does Papa let you be sad when 666 is happy? It just isn't fair.

You stand up and move swiftly to 666, who is surprised by your sudden presence and calls out in surprise. Before he has the chance to react, you slam your fist at his face. 666 is however, fast. He replies with a kick at your shin, which stings slightly. He seems to understand that you are trying to fight him and has primed himself in the imitative stance of a child.

Having bitten off far more than you could chew - and you usually could chew quite a lot, metaphorically and literally - you decide to make a run for it. You somehow manage to dash out of the common room, Zorome angrily yelling and cursing after you. You manage to scramble through the corridor and barge yourself into the library, having lost the little angry devil chasing you.

You start panting to catch your breath. Your little sprint through the corridors truly was hard. You bumbled your way into the library.

It then occurred to you that you forgot to take 'War and Peace' back into the commons earlier into the morning. Necessarily, that means that you left it in the library. That which is left in the library tends to be read by the literate children who wander around here - 015, 016...

...Or in this particular case, 196, who was intently 'reading' - you're not sure the extreme amount of focus she had whenever she looked at a book could constitute normal reading - specifically reading your book!

Try and socialise

Focus on socialisation, side discussion of book

---

You approach Code 196. Given that she doesn't even so much raise an eyebrow, you're going to assume that she is so engrossed in your book that she really doesn't care what's going on around her. If the whole Garden burned down, no doubt she would still be reading, even if the library was up in flames.

You carefully tiptoe closer. She still hasn't noticed you.

"Code 196 - what's War and Peace about?" You simply ask her. It sounded like a good start.

"Russian nobility." She replies dispassionately.

"Where's Russia?"

"Between Europe and Asia."

"Who's Napoleon?"

"Man who tried to conquer Europe." There was a hint of irritation in Code 196's voice, as if she didn't really want you to continue asking her questions. It was as if your presence was repulsive to her, albeit not in the way that it was to the other children. It didn't feel personal. Nonetheless, she started shifting herself to the far end of the table, as if guarded.

At this rate, you don't think it will be easy to get your book back or continue this line of conversation with Code 196... It's going to take some special measures if you're going to get anywhere.

Code 196, that was her Code, wasn't it? That meant that the name Hiro gave her would've been something that related to those numbers.

"Eh, Ikuro-chan, can't we be friends?" You awkwardly rub your hair as you try to lower her guard.

If anything, that backfired extremely badly.

"My name is Ikuno, not Ikuro. No and we can't be friends. You're gross." At least she didn't call you a fatty.

Yet this was far more than a simple letdown. This was flat-out an attack on your confidence and dignity.

[] Promise to give your share of dessert to get the book back
[] Attack her and take the book back by force.
[] Attempt to charm Ikuno again into lowering her guard (Cunning: Mechanics page 75 of Maid RPG - -1 penalty to your roll)

Second time's the charm I hope.

Ikuno only has 5 spirit so she is more vulnerable to social attack and Stress and we're taking Stress from failing to seduce her so what's the point.

> [X] Promise to give your share of dessert to get the book back
Social attack, Cunning vs Will

IDK why she only has 5 spirit her baseline should be 30 but if we get her low then she has to do what we want or stress explode

That penalty will bite us in the ass at this level.
