You are pilot HARRY NEUMANN, the newest of one of the New UN Spacy's Tactical Sound Units!

And currently you were in control of a Zentradi flagship.

Well, partial control. You at least had access to the bridge systems and nominal control over basic functions, but the more serious parts of the ships systems were still being worked at by your Valkyrie's electronic warfare module. It didn't help that it seemed like the ship's crew was doing their best to lock you out of the ship's systems, racing against your Valkyrie.

Still, the flagship was not an immediate threat anymore, which was more than you could ask for right now.

A heavy particle beam slamming into the hull is a nasty reminder that the NUNS fleet might not exactly know that you've seized control of the ship. You quickly flip on your comms.

"Hold fire on the flagship! Yellow Team has commandeered the bridge!" You announce.

"Captain...?" Dorothea sounds almost bewildered but she manages to stop herself. "I'm not even going to ask how you got in there. What's your situation?"

"We have limited control on the ship." You say as you look at your screen. Looks like more and more of the ship's systems were being locked off. "Situation is under control."

"For now!" Lara yells back at you as her Valkyrie ducks away from a torrent of gunfire. Looks like the crew had finally gotten a counterboarding team organized. Lara wouldn't be able to hold them off on her own.

"Can you secure the ship?" Dorothea asks. "Scuttle it, otherwise."

"If you can shut down these damn AA guns, we might be able to get some support to you!" Kellerman interjects.

Damn, the program was working so fast now you barely had time to keep up with it. You had to do something and now before you get kicked out of the system for good.

You work to access the ship's weapon systems, trying to knock them offline to give Kellermen's fighters an opening to get in through. However, as you work your way through the subsystems, you do notice a system vulnerability.

Perhaps you could not only shut down the weapons, but completely hijack them for your own use. It was risky, though. If the ship's systems detected the intrusion, it might lock you out completely...

You hit your trigger, and an electric signal pulses through the bridge console. The screen locks up for a second before more code begins to jumble thing sup.

And the flagship's guns fall silent.

Emboldened by both this sudden change in the tide as well as the hard beats of Amy's song, the NUNS fleet surges forward. You can see the Pacifica, the massive shipping barely a third of the size of the flagship, flying past. Meanwhile a few NUNS ships continue to keep their weapons aimed at the flagship, just in case.

And without supporting AA fire, the Zentradi fighter screen quickly dissolves and routs in the face of the onslaught of Valkyries. While many of them continue to fly past the flagship to keep pace with the rest of the fleet, a good number of them start landing on the hull, blasting entry points inside. One squadron closes in on the bridge, which you recognize as Kellerman's.

"Good job, Captain." Kellerman says with genuine pride. "You really took a nasty thorn out of our side. We can handle things from here."

"Thanks, we need to resupply anyways." You nod as you turn to Lara's Valkyrie. "Come on, Lara, we're moving out!"

"Sweet! No more ground slogging!" Lara chirps as she waves at Kellerman's pilots, who were moving in to relieve her. "Thanks guys!"

You and Lara leap out of the shattered bridge windows and switch back to fighter mode, boosting to catch up to the Pacifica, which was continuing to forge ahead.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNA48dDj3D8

And Amy's next song begins to soften up as there's a lull in the fighting. With their first defense line broken, the Zentradi were falling back to their next line, the network of stationary weapons platforms. Hopefully Karla's team could disable them in time.

You and Lara land in the hangar, and you note quite a number of other Valkyries coming in, too. Some damaged, some not. The ground crews were on full alert mode, dashing from Valkyrie to Valkryie, determining which ones only needed resupply, which ones needed repair, and which ones could be fixed in the field and sent back. To the untrained eye, it looked to be complete chaos ans technicians ran back and forth, carting tools, parts, and munitions. However, this was all well rehearsed and drilled in countless exercises and actual battles. Even here, Dorothea's strict attention to detail could be felt.

"All right, it's not too bad." A technician nods as she quickly checks off lines on her datapad. "We'll get your replacement cannon and refill the ammo. We'll need to do something about the engines, too. You've practically burned them out."

You just nod and grab a water bottle from a passing cart, sucking the whole thing down in seconds. You were going back out soon and who knew when you'd have the chance to get properly hydrated. Rearming and repairing your Valkyrie was going to take some time, though...

You leave Lara to hold down the fort in the hangar as you head for the bridge. You wanted to check in on how everybody was doing.

Fortunately, the security team at the bridge entrance pretty much recognizes you on sight by this point and does nothing to stop you from entering.

You take on quick scan of the bridge, which, like the battle, has gone into a bit of a lull, with everybody taking a much needed, but tense break.

Dorothea was still in her command chair, sipping at a cup of steam hot tea. Guess even the middle of a battle, a British officer like her still had her needs.

Amy, meanwhile, was sitting at the edge of the special stage built on the bottom level of the bridge, a towel draped over her head as attendants furiously worked to redo all the makeup that had washed off from the sweat she was exerting.

And finally, there was Cole, tucked away in a remote corner of the room, flanked by another security team and kept restrained, for safety purposes. She seemed to be wriggling and getting antsy, but maybe that was because she was anxious to hear Amy sing again.

As the attendants finish up their work and disperse, you take a seat next to Amy, who still has the towel draped over her head. In addition to drawing in all the moisture from her sweat, it also impedes her peripheral vision, preventing her from seeing your approach.

"Gah!" Amy yelps, nearly leaping to her feet when she finally realizes you're sitting next to her. "When the hell did you get here!?"

"Just now." You chuckle. "You're doing good so far."

"Am I?' Amy sighs as she gazes out of the bridge window. In front, the NUNS fleet was reorganizing as the defense stations loomed ever closer. "Seems like the the fight isn't over yet."

"Not yet." You nod in confirmation. "But yeah, you're still doing good."

"If you say so." Amy nods, taking the towel off her head. "You were pretty busy yourself. Taking on a flagship by yourself like that."

"You saw?" You glance to her.

"How could we NOT see?" Amy rolls her eyes. "I swear, it looked like the Admiral's eyes were gonna fly out of her head, she was so pissed!"

"Was she?" You grin.

"Yep." Amy nods. "Anyways, we're gearing up the next setlist. You got any suggestions?"

"Well, everybody's got their own tastes, you know." You shrug. "They like what they like."

"Yeah, I guess." Amy sighs and stands up and stretches. "Anyways, don't you have to get going or something?"

"Yeah, you're right." You nod as you get up and glance at Cole. "She giving you any trouble?"

"Naaaah, she's cool." Amy shrugs. "She calms down when I start up, so it ain't much of a problem."

"Good to hear." You nod and slap Amy on the back. "Go knock 'em out."

"Plan to!" Amy grins and waves as you take your leave.

"Captain, a second." Dorothea speaks up as you walk past her command chair.

"Admiral?" You pause, nearly speaking her name instead of her rank out of habit.

"It appears that Karla's team has run into... complications." Dorothea says grimly and she keeps her eyes locked on the fleet ahead. "Unfortunately, at this rate, she won't be able to keep the timetable to disable the defense platforms."

"And she asked for me?" You ask suspiciously.

"Of course not, but since Kellerman is seizing the flagship, you're the only other pilot I trust with this." Dorothea turns an eye to you. "You're going to have to sneak or break through that defense line to reach them. I won't order you to go, though, since Karla can pull out at any time. It's strictly volunteer."

"Guess I'll have to do it, when you ask so nicely." You grin.

"Good." Dorothea nods. You see her relax just a bit. No doubt glad something was being handled by someone she trusted. "You're clear to use any equipment you see fit to carry out your mission. I'll let the crew chief know."

"Thank you, Admiral." You remind yourself to remain formal in public as you salute Dorothea and march out.

By the time you reach the hangar, you see the techs just finishing up retuning your Valkyrie along with Lara's.

"So, I got word from up top that you're cleared to use whatever you need to break the defense line." The crew chief grunts as he points his thumb over to where you can see several different FAST packs gathered.

"We're going in hard." You nod towards the strike pack. The heavy armor and built in pinpoint barrier generators would be a great help in shrugging off damage, and the extra particle cannons and missiles didn't hurt, either. "We're going to need every big gun we can get."

"We'll get it on right away." The crew chief nods as he whistles at his techs to start moving.

"Hm, a bit too bulky for my tastes, but I guess I can manage." Lara frowns, not entirely satisfied with your choice, the speed freak that she was.

It's not long before you and Lara were back out into space, catching up with the leading elements of the fleet. And in anticipation of first contact between the opposing fleets, Amy starts up her next song. A cheerful, optimistic one to cheer everyone up and to shore up morale.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJuBv7bv5qQ

"So, should we wait for the fleet to hit 'em first or are we gonna do them a solid and draw their fire?" Lara asks as her Valkyrie falls in line with yours.

"We'll hang back and wait for the fleet to engage." You say. "We'll look for an opening and go."

"Got it." Lara nods.

And so, as Amy continues to sing, you throttle down and let the rest of the fleet proceed ahead, their engines burning in the darkness.

And then contact is made. In the distance, you could see particle beams and missile explosions glittering as more and more forces from both sides commit.

At this point, the Zentradi defense platforms begin opening up as well, revealing their positions. You quickly scan the area. You could see two platforms seemed to have drifted a little farther apart than anticipated, leaving a gap in their coverage you could exploit. However, the gap was in open space, where enemy fighters could easily pounce on you.

You see another possible entry point in a particularly thick debris field, where the defense platform stationed there had a limited field of view. Perhaps you could take advantage of the debris to avoid getting in sight of its weapons, but you didn't really have a good idea of what, if anything, was lying in wait in there.

Well, ALMOST no resistance.

You and Lara each fire off a torrent of missiles, with dozens of the projectiles rocketing towards their targets.

The Zentradi, to their credit, scatter in an attempt to dodge the incoming missiles, but they're simply overwhelmed. Whether they tried to shoot them down or outmaneuver them, they simply couldn't deal with multiple missiles homing in on them, and the entire formation simply evaporates.

"Now that's what I'm talking about!" Lara whoops.

"Come on, we're still on a deadline here." You remind her, hitting the button to eject the now spent external missile pods. "We need to keep moving, and remember to eject your used up packs."

"Yeah yeah, I got it." Lara replies as her Valkyrie also shrugs off its now useless missile launchers.

"Hello? Does anybody read?" A familiar voices buzzes on the comms. "It would be nice if we had a little heavy support here..."

"Karla." You say simply. "What do you need?"

"Oh! Captain! How convenient!" Karla says sweetly. You can hear gunfire in the background. "We've been trying to enter the base but we've run into a snag. Namely, the Zentradi security caught on to us. We're in mining tunnel 6, which is supposed to lead us into the control center, but as I said before, we have a snag ahead of us."

"My scanners are showing there's an external entrance to the target site." Lara points out. "Can't you just bypass their defenses?"

"Hm, and leave us in open space all exposed? Only if you can keep those nasty Zentradi fighters off of us!" Lara points out.

"Better make way, Karla, we're coming in!" You announce as you and Lara dive into the tunnel entrance, switching to GERWALK mode to slide through without losing any speed.

And sure enough, up ahead, your optic sensors pick up a NUNS special forces team, taking cover behind some rocks as a pair of Zentradi battlesuits pour laser fire down the tunnel. Unfortunately, it seemed like they were pretty well entrenched at the end of the tunnel, having plenty of obstacles and cover to protect them.

"Captain! Nice of you to join us!" Karla waves at you, her figure absolutely tiny in comparison to your Valkyrie. "How about we get rid of this annoying pair?"

Your Valkyries still had the extra weapons and army. Perhaps you could outgun the Zentradi from range, or you could just press ahead and force them out of position...

"Lara, form up." You say as you switch to battroid mode. The extra heavy laser cannons rest on your Valkyrie's shoulders, and your targeting computer lights up as you try to line up a good shot on those battlesuits up ahead...

You aim your cannons and fire, the two heavy lasers lancing downwards and striking both battlesuits square in the chest.

Both of them instantly explode, leaving the way clear to proceed.

"Thanks for the help, Captain!" Karla says sweetly as she and her team push ahead in a commandeered vehicle. "Are you going to be coming with us, or are you gonna go out and play more? Protection or distraction, either is fine with me!"

>Might as well stick with Karla's team.

"We'll stick with you to the end." You say.

"Awww, how thoughtful of you!" Karla says sweetly. "All right then, lead the way for us!"

You and Lara switch back to GERWALK mode and boost forward through the tunnel, weaving around the obstacles and shooting past the two downed battlesuits, now a mix of burning machinery and flesh.

You finally come up against a large security door. Your last obstacle into the control room.

>Blast the door down. You don't have time to be fancy.

Your console beeps with success as the door is successfully hacked. You open it just a crack, enough so that you can snake a remote camera through to the other side.

And from what you can see, there were five Zentradi officers inside the control room, managing all sorts of consoles and data screens. No doubt processing the information the defense platforms were sending in and responding with orders.

It was very likely they were armed, but you didn't see any soldiers or battlesuits around. At least not inside the control room itself.

"So what's the play here, Cap?" Lara asks, readying her cannon.

Well, the simplest course of action would just be to breach the room take them all out. However, it could help to have at least one of them alive to help operate the systems...

>Breach the door and wipe them out.
>Fire up the fold speakers and see if Amy's song can incapacitate them.

All right, it was time to work some of that idol magic. You flip a switch on your console, firing up the Fold Quartz resonator built into your Valkyrie. Tuned in to Amy's song, it started blast her voice into the room, the heavy blast doors being useless to stop it.

Unfortunately, it seemed like these Zentradi were a bit more hardy than the typical rank and file, and Amy's song doesn't even phase them.

However, it DOES alert them to your presence, and they start shouting and drawing weapons.

Ah damn.

You could open fire now, but you would risk hitting the control equipment the Zentradi officers were standing near. Maybe seeking cover was the better play?

Either way, you had to act fast.

"Lara! Fire at will!" You bark activating your cannons. You couldn't afford to let the Zentradi regain the initiative.

"Roger!" Lara confirms as she readies her cannons as well.

Hopefully you don't hit anything too important.

Hmmm, well, it appears it's getting late, so we'll continue things next time!

And don't forget Frontier Knight on Saturday!
