You’re at the New Calamity Clinic after getting your ass kicked by Flint, Ka-Shing’s bodyguard. Your injuries are very troubling, but that’s not the only troubling thing going on right now, as you have received an unwelcomed guest.

“Hello, I hope I wasn’t interrupting – I’ll need to ask you a few questions, if that’s alright.” A polite and professional man says. He’s in hospital clothes and looks seriously injured. But more importantly at the height of his pocket, he has a flame… A white flame! Oh man, this isn’t going to be great at all! All white flame users you've had the displeasure of meeting have been nutjobs!

“I see, you’re able to see my flame too.” The man stares at you, piercingly.
“Hmm?” You raise an eyebrow, acting unsurprised.
“You’re staring at it, just like that nurse did. You are subtler than her, I'll give you that.” He says, as he breaks his stare to look for a chair to sit on.
“Flame?” Amelia looks at you; you stare at her back nodding. “Uhm…” Amelia is on the defensive now.
“Your name is Johnny, correct? I’m not here to cause you two any trouble, I just need some questions answered – it will be up to you how long this is going to take.” He finally finds a little chair and sits. “So please, could you do me this favor?”

“I think we can take him down, regardless of our injuries. He shouldn't be as absurdly experienced or sturdy as Flint.” Philonune seeks blood! He’s a fallen angel after all, not to mention both of you are still smarting from the ass-kicking you got from Flint. But you think right now is not the time nor place for a fight.

How do you respond?

>“What do you need to know?” Accept, maybe this is the only white flame user that isn't crazy.
>“I’m not interested in helping white flame users, sorry. I hope you understand.” Decline politely.
>“I would prefer if you leave instead. I have no business with you, and I'd rather not have any.” Be passive-aggressive!
>“What’s the deal with you? Why should I even help you?” Turn the tables! Force his hand to convince you!

Dice Mechanic

We always roll 1d100!
I use the average (the mean) of the 4 best rolls and success will be determined by the difficulty I specify for the action or prompt. If there are less than 4 rolls I’ll do the math with the ones I have.
Above 45 is a success on a normal roll. Above 55 is a success on a hard roll. The hardest rolls I won’t specify because I find it more fun if I don’t.
Rolling over a 95 is a critical strike and ignores the other rolls!
We will roll after the voting is done.

“Alright. What do you need to know?” Why start a fight so early in the morning? Besides, you already have enough problems and you don’t want to add this guy to your list.
“Thank you.” He clears his throat. “My name is Richard Wright, and I’m a detective for the Pokyo Lokyo Police Department. I have some questions regarding yesterday’s incident and other recent happenings. This is a private matter, so you don’t have to worry about police meddling. It’s not like you can trust them anyway, corrupt as they all are.” He takes out a notepad and a pencil from his hospital clothes.
“Other happenings?”
“Previous events that I believe are flame-related. Hopefully it isn’t too much trouble.”
“I’m not sure if I can help you with that, but go ahead.”

“Before we start…” He turns to Amelia. “I don’t want to sound rude, but could you leave the two of us alone?”
“I’m sorry mister, but I can’t leave Johnny alone with the likes of you.” Amelia responds very serious. It’s always surreal to you to see her interact with strangers like this.
Richard seems taken aback for a brief second. “Pardon me?”
“Flame users are dangerous and you’re no exception. I hope you understand.”

His tone relaxes more. “I understand your concerns, but I’m not the enemy here.”
“That’s up to us to decide. If this is a problem to you, you can leave us be.” Amelia adjusts her glasses.
“…I’m sorry, you’re right. It wasn’t my intention to come off as rude. Anyway…” He turns back to you. “Yesterday, you were fighting with a man named ‘Flint’, correct?”

“Yes. I didn’t win, obviously.” You smile at this understatement. It hurts to smile, but you smile anyway!
“What was that man’s objective?” He asks, without reacting to your joke.
“A girl named Rise.”
“The girl Ka-Shing Corp is looking after? So he was working for the Ka-Shing Corporation?”
“He definitely is.”
Richard takes some notes on his notepad, then looks back at you. “How did you two end up fighting?”
“He got violent after I refused to give him the information he wanted.”
“If he wanted the information, why did he knock you unconscious?”
“He didn’t value it that much, or at least me as an informant. Probably thought he could get it from someone else.”
“Do you know why the corporation wants her?”
“Yes, I do. But sadly for them, she lost all her value.”
Richard writes down more notes, but when he looks back at you, his eyes have a curious look in them. “How so?”
“She doesn’t have the information they think she has. At least, not anymore.”
“Could you elaborate, please?”
“I wish I could. Seems that a lot of info went around while I was out cold. All I can say is that the old Rise is pretty much gone, and with her, her value to these guys.”
“I see…” He takes a few seconds to silently digest the information.

He taps his notebook. "Next subject: Constance Strangelove.”
“Hm?” Amelia now seems interested.
“Something wrong?” He turns to Amelia.
“What does little Constance have to do with anything here?” Amelia plays the ditz role.
“How much knowledge do you have about the whole situation?”
“Secret.” Amelia is on edge, frowning.
“…Then I can’t help you, miss.” He dismisses Amelia, turning back to you. “As I was saying, what is your relationship with Strangelove?”

“We're friends.”
“Friends...? How much do you know about her situation?”
“I had bits here and there about her background, but not enough to understand the full picture. You'll have to talk to her yourself.” You shrug, telling the truth.
“She's refused already." He turns and looks back at the door he came in through. "You are aware she’s host to a Judge?”
“Yes I am.”
“So yesterday you were trying to protect her?”
“It was one of the reasons.” You nod. Constance has been a lifesaver for you and your group for a while now. Removing enemy flames on-demand is extremely useful!
Richard nods, and you can tell he understands. “You know her real parents are missing, right?”
“Yes.”
“…Do you think they were killed?”
“I don't know that much. I met her when she was already on the other clinic, sorry man.”
“Damn…” He doesn’t seem happy about the information he’s getting. He shakes his head then goes back to his calm poker face.

“New subject: Were you at the scene of the stadium incident a few weeks prior?”
“No, I was not. What happened in there?” Oh, that one thing you decided not to go to! It was after the big reunion with the Judges.
“I have no idea myself; I only know it was vaguely flame-related.” Poor Detective, not getting the answers he was looking for.

“One final topic… While you were fighting and went unconscious, a girl named Nariko helped you… She bears a striking resemblance to a certain missing person, both in name and general appearance. Is she the one? And what relationship do you have with her?”
Amelia’s eyes fly wide open. She didn't expect the detective to put two-and-two together! This guy is the real deal. Now you could both be in trouble!

What do you do?

>Play dumb! What Nariko? You don’t know any Nariko! Remember: Brain. Damage.
>Tell the whole truth about Nariko! He's gotta understand if you explain it as fully as you can. Maybe he knows more that you didn't find out through Matilda!

"She's in a similar situation as Rise's in. Her memory is gone, likely due to a flame resisting their forced removal. I decided to keep quiet about her situation in part due to how it sounds like her parents didn't seem to care much for her, and how I was curious about what her past was."

You decided to tell him the whole truth about Nariko! Hopefully he will understand where you are coming from! Amelia is surprised by your decision, while the detective doesn’t seem one bit amused by the situation.

The detective leans back in his chair. “So let me get this straight. You’re taking the matters into your own hands, knowing full well her parents are searching for her?”
“Are they? Last time I checked, they were overseas doing nothing for her.”
He glares at you. “So that gives you the right to impart your own justice?”
“What justice? I only care about giving her memories back; I’m doing all I can – if she wants to leave after that, I don’t mind. But do you think her school would do something like that? Or the police? She was sleeping in homeless shelters for crying out loud, and you just told me five seconds ago that they are corrupt. They don’t care. They want to get rid of her, now that they know she isn’t gone for good.” You explain, getting a bit irritated in the process. Nobody is taking your cute little hobo away!

“Yes! He’s right!” Amelia nods furiously, backing you up.
“Giving her back to her parents is the right thing to do. There is no valid reason for you to look after her – at least, not now. I will personally make sure she’s fine and back with her family, you have my word. Her friends have lost her as a person, her family have lost her as a daughter. You can play detective on the sidelines without putting her in this position, you know.”

“What friends? What family? Do I have to repeat myself? She was out there for WEEKS, and they didn’t even attempt to find her once! What sense does it make to return her to them, after they clearly showed that they don't give a single shit?” You're clenching one of your hands in a fist, but breathing evenly. You're past irritated, but you can't lose your cool here.
Richard shakes his head, then looks at you dead-on. “If we were in any other place in the world, I would call you a madman. We’re aiming for results now, do you understand? She has a life to live, and that isn't going to happen locked up in your home.”

“You think this is easy? Heck, I think we’re doing pretty good finding everything out without any help!” Amelia is fuming at the detective.
“I just want the best for her. My apologies if I made the situation escalate this way.” Richard replies to Amelia, bowing his head. His serious expression dies quickly, and he looks genuinely remoseful. At least, he looks that way.
“I don’t think you have been sincere about any of your apologies.” Amelia is very mad. So are you, but you're trying not to show it too much.
“Calm down, Amelia. He’s just thinking about what’s best for Nariko. That's what we've been doing too, remember?” You remind your sister, and she starts to calm down a little. “Any other questions, Mr. Detective?”

Richard checks his notepad, glancing over it a few times, then puts it away. “No, not for now. I would like to keep us in contact, however. I know we can be useful to one another in the future, should another issue come up.” Mr. Wright takes his phone out, but holds out his other hand to you in a handshake…

Will he really be useful as an ally, or is it better to keep your distance? What do you do?

>Exchange contact information! If Jackson was still useful when retired, imagine what a serving member of the police force could do for you on the inside! Plus, he doesn't seem insane.
>Refuse! Too many red flags from this guy for him to be anything but a detriment to your group! You'll still politely take the handshake – an actually sane white flame user! Who knew?

“Sure. But next time I’ll ask questions too.” You give him a handshake, then you go for your phone and exchange numbers.
“Thanks.” He replies, stoic appearance intact. His handshake feels experienced, professional, just like everything about him. “Sorry for bothering you., Little Miss.”
“Please, don’t do anything stupid. We care about Nariko.” Amelia looks at him all sad. The power of the puppy-dog eyes…!
The detective smiles at Amelia, breaking his own stoic exterior. “You trusted me with this information, the least I can do is root for you.” He stands up and goes to the door. He stops in front of it. “I’m not in this war game to win it, I have my own personal reasons. That’s all. You two have a nice day.” He opens the door and Nurse Kata Calamity is waiting immediately outside.

“Got the info you wanted, Mr. Detective? By the looks of it, I think so. I did tell you my boys were good, didn't I?” She smiles at him, winking.
“Excuse me, miss.” Wright quickly evades the nurse, avoiding the gaze, and goes on his way out.
“I’ll see you later, then. Fufufufu.” Nurse starts laughing, waving at the detective's back. “Now, on to my next patient…”

“Hello Kata, I’m glad you’re fine.” You say hi to the nurse, waving from your bed.
“Good, good. You’re learning!” She might be referring to the fact you call her ‘Kata’. “Now it’s time I check on you. Little Nurse Amelia, how did things go with him?”
“Perfect! He took all his pills on time and looks way better now!” Amelia goes back to being all sunshine and rainbows. What a moody sister!

“And what did you promise if your brother was feeling all better…?” Kata smiles at Amelia. Amelia starts looking caught-out.
“That I would leave home and take a good rest…” Amelia looks all bummed out.
“Yes, indeed. Your brother wasn’t the only one who got into a fight. Remember, just because you guys heal faster because of your flames, doesn’t mean you can’t take off your bodies!” Nurse Calamity scolds your sister. Wait, is that a thing? The one about the flames giving you advanced healing? Interesting…

“Can't Amelia can stay a little while longer?” You haven’t spent all that much time with her, what with Ka-Shing and Flint and Uccelli.
“Johnny! You handsome devilish boy, think about your sister’s health! Now missy, it’s just a two-day rest for you. C’mon, the faster you do it, the sooner you will get to see your brother again.” Nurse Calamity won’t budge.
“Good bye, Johnny…” She takes her bag and gives you a hug before leaving. It hurt your aching bones and muscles again, but it was still worth it.
“Take care; remember you can call me anytime.” You show her your phone.
“Right!” Amelia tries to mask her sadness with a wry smile. She finally leaves the room.

“Families like these always break my heart.” Nurse Calamity says wistfully as she closes the door behind her. After checking on you, things aren’t looking as good as you hoped. “You seem much, much better, But not enough to move around yet. You will have to stay in bed all day.”
“Damn…”
“Don’t worry handsome! At this pace, you will be back on your feet in no time.” Nurse Calamity cheers you up. “There was someone else who wanted to see you, though. Do you want me to call her? Oh, and one of your teammates wants to see you too.”

What do you do?

>“Alright, call her. Not like I can do anything else.” Why didn’t she say her name?

“I want to know how everyone is doing, first. Amelia told me some details, but I want an update.” You ask the nurse nicely.
“Well, aside from some scratches, most of your friends are alright! There are a few exceptions like my dear uncle, who hasn’t woke up yet – but he’s stable and things are looking good for him.” Shit, this is the second time Dr. Calamity got beaten in a situation like this! At least this time it wasn’t your fault. Nurse Kata now sits on the chair Amelia was previously on.

“Your other friend, the scary boy, Trent – he had massive blood loss and almost died, but with the help of your friends and my colleague, we were able to gather enough blood for him. He’s awake now and pretends like nothing happened, but he shouldn’t be on his feet – he’s so stubborn, why can't he be like you?” She gently touches your arm up and down, feigning despair.
“At least that means he’s fine?”
“He’s in no better condition than you, my dear; he merely pretends he is. My colleagues didn’t want to help me restrain him! Now he does whatever he wants.” She’s all pouty. “He followed my uncle’s order to a tee, but with me, he’s all naughty.”
“Honestly, him following Dr. Calamity’s order is more surprising to me than anything…”

“Anyway, Little Constance is all good, and she’s immensely happy to have a window in her room.” Oh right, but didn’t that save her from being kidnapped? “Your chubby friend Bradford was beaten up very badly too, now he’s alright – of the four, he’s in the best condition! Well, except for the fact someone broke his arm.” Then he's not alright at all!

“What about Osgood?” He fought Flint head-on, and won! Not even you could pull that off!
“He was hurt mildy, not like any of you – but his girlfriend took him to a wealthier clinic. How disrespectful of her, but understandable.” She shrugs, accepting the sliding scale of health care under a dictatorship. “Now, we have passed a wonderful time together, handsome, but I need to check on my uncle. I’ll come back later.”

“Alright, if he’s awake tell him I said hi. Oh and also, call the person who wanted to see me.”
“Sure, I’ll see you later, my dear. Fufufufufu…” She leaves while doing her strange, creepy, and sort of whimsical walk… It’s strange; like you understand how she is related to Doctor Calamity, but it still baffles you. Also, you can't help but check her ass as she leaves. Pretty nice, but Uccelli's is better.

After several minutes of waiting, doing pretty much nothing except relaxing on the bed, someone opens the door and peeks inside – It’s Lise!

“Hey Lise.” You wave at her. You expected someone else like Uccelli, but if you really think about it, who else could it have been? It’s not like everyone is free at this time of day.
“Holy crap, you look like shit!” Lise exclaims all surprised while closing the door behind her.
“Thanks…” She’s 'really good' at cheering people up.
“S-sorry. But give me a break; I thought you were a damn machine with what you did for me last time. Shit, everyone but you took a hell of a beating!" Lise moves a chair near your bed.
“Machines usually break, you know?” You chuckle a little at this, knowing how reckless you were against Flint.
“You know what I meant.” She looks angry, but it peters out fast. “Bleh, how are you feelin'?” Lise changes topics.
“Like shit. Duh.” You say as deadpan as possible with your injuries.

“I can tell.” She grabs your trademark lock of hair and plays with it. “Do you even do anything to your hair? It’s always messy.”
“I’m in a hospital, with a good amount of broken bones and hurt muscles, and I can't get up without a lot of pain. What do you want from me?”
“I mean, it looked bad before too. Just saying. Fuck, what I should be saying is, do you need anything? I can help… I think.” Lise is so awful at being useful, it probably goes against her basic instincts.

What do you say?

>“How'd the funeral go?” Her mother died yesterday, right? Or was it the day before? Anyway, it was recent, and you know how shitty funerals are. She might need some sympathy right now?
>“Why are you here anyway?” There must be a reason she’s in the clinic, right? Probably because of Constance, but that's still a guess on your part…

>It's hard, at first, knowing they're gone. I wish I could say the pain of losing someone goes away, but that's just a lie. But that doesn't mean it hurts like this forever. Give it time, and stay close to people who'll care about you, and it'll go from an open cut to a dull throb eventually. After all, the pain is there to show how much they meant to us.

“How’d the funeral go anyway?” You change topics.
“I don’t know, I didn’t go… It's supposed to be going on right now.” Lise says without a care in the world.
“Can you tell me why, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“I thought I had to set everything up, so I was going to go, but one of my aunts came and took over for me. I told her I was too sad to attend or some other fake bullcrap, so here I am. It’s all a lie if you couldn't tell. My mother and I never had a much of a relationship, not even a decent one; honestly, for all I care, she can rot in hell.” Didn’t she get really angry when Bradford called her mother fat? What’s up with that? Maybe it’s the type of thing where no one can mess with your family except you?

“I was prepared to say something about knowing the pain of a loss, and how family and friends are there to help. But now, I don’t really know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything, really.” Lise shrugs. “I care more about my dad anyway. He’s inside that bunker those cops call a hospital, so he'll be fine.”
“Still, it sucks to hear that about your mom.”
“I said it’s fine. Now let’s get back on track; do you need anything? A glass of water…? I can help you with your hair, but with so many bandages I don’t think it’s a good idea. Uhm… a massage maybe? You don’t look like you can take one though.” Lise says, realizing once again she’s kind of useless in this situation.

"I'm fine, but I’m curious. What are you good at anyway?” Aside from getting mad and complaining and things.
“So rude. I told you a bunch of things just now, didn’t I?”
“I guess not everyone is capable of filling a glass with water.”
She grabs your lock of hair again and pulls it down. It doesn’t hurt though, maybe because of everything else hurting. “So. Rude.” You spy a smile.

You smirk back. “Then tell me.”
“I don’t know… I can help you with your taxes…?” Is she an accountant?!
“What? Taxes? I’m in high school, I don’t care about taxes yet.”
“You're going to be so happy to have me in the future, then. Well, not that it matters – everything's going to hell in a few months, right? Fuck this paranormal shit, seriously. Maybe I should just leave college and have fun with the remainder of the time I have left.” Lise says half-jokingly. Does she know the full extent of the war now?
“Thanks for cheering us on. We sure needed that.” You reply as sarcastically as you can.
“I highly doubt everything is going to stay the same, even if you guys win the whole thing. Just don’t get rid of me when you get on top, okay?” Okay, now she understands the whole problem.

“Fuck, we got off-track again. Tell me what I can do for you, I owe you so much it ain’t funny.” Lise gets all serious.

How do you respond?

>“I’m good if you promise to keep taking care of Constance till the end.” If something bad were to happen to Constance, you don't want to imagine how insane Athelone would be!
>“I feel like I need a haircut. Besides, I probably need my bandages changed, so it's perfect timing.” Fresh bandages are always a good thing when you're injured this badly!
>“I wasn't joking. I could really use a big glass of water right now. And maybe a bite to eat, if you can find some?" When was the last time you had food or drink?!
>“You haven’t said one useful thing you can do for me. There's gotta be more things you can do, right?” Maybe there's more options? Maybe she'll get pissed off if you keep delaying her…?

“I’m good if you promise to keep taking care of Constance until the end.” You reply to the angsty girl.
“I’m not leaving volleyball-head alone, don’t worry about that. Not after finally getting used to her.” Lise smirks. “Is that all? ‘Cause that’s hardly a favor.”
“Maybe put in a good word for me at your college once I graduate from high school?”
“That’s still nothing.” Lise replies instantly. What do you want me to do, miss? Pay you like Matilda?

“Honestly I’m just happy if you help Constance, so…”
“Shit, lunch time is getting close, maybe I can get you something to eat. Hold on a minute, I’ll get you something good for lunch.” Lise looks at the clock hanging on the wall and decides on what to do.
“Sure, I guess I feel a little hungry.” You need to make her feel useful or she’s not going to let this slide!

The moment Lise opens the room’s door to leave, someone else appears outside.

“What are you doing here, fatass…?” Lise doesn’t seem one bit happy now.
“Hi, mademoiselle Lise. Long time no see, and as angry as ever for what I can tell.” It’s… Bradford. He looks fine except for his arm.
“Just looking at your face pisses me off, fatso. So smug and irritating. Now get outta my way, I need to get some food for Johnny – and just for Johnny. Don’t even think about me bringing something for you, ‘cause you don’t need it. Hell, now that you’re getting used to hospital food, you should try that diet from now on. It might do you a favor losing you a dozen pounds.” Why is Lise so mean to Bradford? Or is she trying to be nice while being absolutely brutal?
Bradford takes it in stride. “Damn woman, I came here to talk to Johnny – not to be scolded for existing by some snobby rich girl. Cheer up, lady, life isn’t that bad. I can enjoy it and I’m disgustingly fat, right?”
“…” Lise just continues walking, ignoring Bradford altogether.

“What’s up with her?” Bradford asks as he walks in, confused.
“Her mother died yesterday, and she’s not in a good place. Maybe your fatness reminded Lise of her.” You shrug.
“That’s one big stretch… Anyway, Johnny bro. I hope Nurse Calamity told you I was going to visit before, because I have big news.” Bradford says as he sits on the chair Lise was previously on. Oh god, now you're stuck with him.
“What’s up? How are you feeling?” You ask politely.
“I’m great, sans the obvious. Not nearly as bad as you must be, after what you went through.” Bradford gives you a thumb up with his useful hand. “Sorry I couldn’t be there to help. Things got wacky on our side, like you wouldn't believe.”
“Yeah, Amelia mentioned some of it. Thanks for helping her out.”
“Bah, I barely do anything.” He scratches the back of his head, all smiles. Talk about false modesty.

What do you say? It’s the first time you're having a face-to-face conversation with Bradford.

>“What's this 'big news' you're dying to tell me about? I'm all ears.” What could this possibly be? Is it flame-related? About someone in your group? The enemies?
>“I was wondering. What’s the deal with you, anyway? Why'd you join us? Is it really just because of Osgood?” What are your real motives here, Bradford…?
>“Enjoying being part of the team, eh? I used to have a flameless power too, you know? Maybe yours can be really useful too!” Be leaderlike and give him moral support!

“What’s this ‘big news’ you’re dying to tell me about? I’m all ears.” You tell him, putting your arms behind your head and relaxing in your bed.
“Oh right, yeah. Big news! How much of our side of the situation are you aware of?” Bradford seems enthusiastic.
“Amelia explained everything important to me, I think.”
“Good, then she must have informed you about the girl who controls cats. Well I have news regarding her. I went to look for information about her on the internet, and I struck gold.”
“How so?”

“She’s known as the ‘Ace Informant’ T. T. Neko. Only a handful few know about her, as she’s hidden on the deep web – but I've located a way to contact her. If my sources are correct, and they have never failed me before, she spies on people for a fee and sells the information. From the way she operates, I’m willing to bet she has no team in this war. Either way, you pay her a fee, tell her what you want to know or who you want to spy on, and she will send you the information back. But we are now one step ahead from knowing her tracking techniques: Those darn cats.” He seems so proud while explaining what’s going on.

“Why do you think she’s not in cahoots with anyone?”
“Because she’s selling information to two big brands right now; our Mister Millionaire Ka-Shing, and those cultists. One of the requests on the forum was from the anonymous user named ‘K’, way before all this started! And one of the cultists we took on spilled the beans, told us about their connection.”
“Shit… At the start, weren’t you stopped by her? Also why do you think this T.T. Neko is a girl?”
“Well, obviously because of this.” He pulls out his phone and shows you a… very feminine-looking forum. “That’s her part of the website.”

“Part of the website?”
“Yeah, she ain’t playing alone. What's unexpected is that whoever's helping her out here, they aren’t in any way related to the war. They pretend to be flame users specifically, acting the cringy type that thinks they're insiders – but since we see the full picture, it’s easy to tell they're pretending to be more involved than they really are. I feel like she’s using them as decoys to remain anonymous herself. Just a hunch though.”

Wow, that's some good investigative work. You didn't expect this from Bradford! “Nice job there. But you were still stopped by her, right? Didn't the cultists arrive after she attacked you guys, or am I wrong?”
“Not exactly… the cats were the ones stopping us with some help from random guys. They didn’t look any sharp, but they were armed with bats and stuff. Amelia wasn’t there at that point, so she probably had mixed details after the fact. Craig and I were the ones who held them off until Henry arrived.” He explains, then points at his injured arm. “I got my arm shattered there.”

“I’m sorry about that.”
“Ain’t no big deal, man. I did what I could, and I'd do it again too.” He gives you thumb up again. “So what I should do about T.T. Neko? Request info? Lure her out? Or should we wait and see what happens?”

How would you go about doing this?

>“I’m broken down, man. Let’s just give it a week or so, have everyone recover, then we'll see.” Few people in your group are in any condition for playing at Spy vs Spy, especially you!
>“Maybe we can pay her to spy on someone, let’s see how good she is.” If she's really on her own, completely neutral, then you could use her like Matilda. Wait, that came out wrong!
>“Luring her out would be a good idea, and meeting her personally would give us an edge over anyone else.” She can just control cats, how overpowered could this possibly be?!

“I’m broken down, man. Let’s just give it a week or so, have everyone recover, then we'll see.” Few people in your group are in any condition for playing at Spy vs. Spy, especially you!
“Oh darn, right – I’m getting way ahead of myself in here. I thought she wasn’t that big of threat that the rest of the group couldn’t handle her.”
“Better safe than sorry, our lives are at stake here. Don’t forget it.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Anyway, I’ll pass the info on to the rest of the group. I dug this up all on my own last night, which I'm pretty proud of.” He smiles, and you smile back. That's one lead worth keeping in mind for later…

Someone violently kicks open your room’s door! It’s Lise with your food in her arms!

“Sorry, had to kick it. Hands full.” Lise is not showing one bit of remorse.
“Oh mon dieu! My poor heart can barely take it!” Poor Bradford is in shock. You can't tell if he's serious or not.
“It can barely take anything in your state anyway.” Lise shrugs and brings your tray. “Here, Johnny – the best of the best I could find.” Who would have thought? It actually looks delicious; there's a big juicy steak in there and some vegetables! Doesn’t look like hospital food. Maybe from someplace nearby?

“Looks really good…” Bradford stares at the steak, open-mouthed.
“Yeah…” You are lost for words yourself.
“Here Johnny. Eat.” Lise cuts a piece of the meat and tries to feed you. “Quick, open your mouth.” She’s not tactful at all!
“I can eat by myself, thanks.” You very gently take the fork from her and eat the piece. The taste is incredible!
“Don’t need to act so tough, just let me help you.” Lise angrily takes the fork away from you and cuts you another piece of the steak. “Open your mouth, now.
“You’re being far too kind, but I’m telling you – I can eat all by myself. My arms still work.” You take the fork back and eat the piece again.
“Your body is hurting all over, please let me be of assistance.” Lise very aggressively grabs back the fork from you. What a passive-aggressive exchange…!

“Great, now I'm hungry… I’ll catch up with you later, Johnny bro.” Bradford looks like he’s barely keeping his saliva in his mouth, even though he seems midly scared. “If anything else comes up, I’ll come back.” He escapes the room.
“Take care…” You respond as you take the fork back from the distracted Lise. She seems annoyed, but you’re even more annoyed. It’s your food, and you'll eat it at whatever pace you want! As soon as Bradford leaves the room, Lise reacts.

“Bleh, I probably was being too annoying trying to be helpful. My bad, I guess.” She finally puts the tray on your lap. “I need to get going too. I’ll see you one of these days when I get to visit Constance again. That is, if you want to.” Lise stands up ready to take a hike. What a strange visit.

…Scarlet, of course! Who else? Oh god, it’s going to be Scarlet – what if she gets all weird again? How are you going to cope with that in your current state? Well, worrying isn't worth it. So you wait for her to appear, dum dum dum dum…

The ceiling looks funny, a stain looks like a bad caricature of Mr. Conti…

You need something to pass the time with! Wait, you dumbass! Your phone! Nobody could blame you for shitposting now! Uh-oh… the connection is terrible here for some reason, and the images take forever to load. You could read your messages, but you don’t want to process more information right now. All the shit Bradford said is enough to last you a while.

Fuck, being injured sucks. Wait, you hear someone knocking! The door is opening! And… It’s two guys carrying a slim TV, nothing fancy. Didn’t the old clinic struggle to even have a CRT, or are you misremembering? Well, it’s better for you and future patients that they are updating the place!

“Hello.” You tell both men, bored out of your mind.
“Sorry for interrupting, pal. We came to install the TV.” One of the guys says. Yeah, interrupting your nothing.
“This place is gonna be fancier than the old one, eh?” You try to strike up a conversation.
“Huh? No, this TV is for you kid.” The man clarifies.
“What?”
“Yeah, a girl bought it for you. You could donate it to the clinic if you want.” The other one of them explains as they continue installing it.
“Who exactly?”
“Something Villiers, I don’t remember. It’s in the receipt anyway.” That’s Lise! How kind of her, way too kind... Suspiciously kind…!

“Here kid, have fun.” He throws you the remote. You’re in no condition to catch it, and the thing smashes into your face.
“Ouch.” You barely care enough to say something with emotion, even though it hurts.
“S-sorry, do I call a nurse or…?” The man says, suddenly realizing what he just did.
“It’s fine…” You say begrudgingly, waving him off.
“It’s a smart TV, so have fun watching. Sorry again for that.” Both men leave.
“But the connection is terrible…” They didn’t hear you.

You stare at the remote, then try turning the TV on.
It doesn't work, so you check the remote.
“What remote doesn’t come with batteries these days…?!” Welp, things aren’t going to get better soon, aren’t they?

Finally, your premonition comes true and someone actually knocks onthe door! It slowly opens, and it’s Scarlet! W-what is she doing here? It should be school hours right now!

“Johnny! What happened?! Your sister told me about you getting hospitalized, but I didn’t think it was this bad!” Scarlet drops her bag and runs towards you, all hurt inside!

“I had a fight with a bear, kinda.” You reply to her. It’s kind of vague, but for all intents and purposes is the truth.
“A bear? Like a very bulky guy?” Scarlet’s imagination is running wild! “B-but why?”
“To defend those in need.” You say in a hero-esque tone, like Wildflame – but in total jest.
“Woah! That’s so you, Johnny! Gosh, you’re so cool!” Scarlet is genuinely impressed. Her face is that of a little kid seeing her hero, in total adoration. She’s getting awfully close too; on her knees, resting her face on the bed, staring at you…

“A-a-anyway, school ain’t over, what are you doing here? Thanks for coming though, I appreciate it.” Did she skip to see you?!
“Hehehe, it’s nothing! I knew I had to visit the moment Amelia text me. I wouldn’t forgive myself otherwise! Oh and about school, I had a dentist’s appointment. Didn’t you forget to read my messages, or did you just wake up?”
“No, the connection here is plain terrible.”
“That’s lame. Oh, right, talking about lame… I wanted to show you something that’s kind of lame but… Wait, where'd I leave my bag?”

“You dropped it when you saw me.” You say, deadpan.
“Oh yikes, sorry for overreacting!” She stands up hastily, and goes for her bag. “Do you mind if I get comfortable?”
“Uhm… No? But keep in mind someone can come in here any second.” You are unsure about what she meant by this. You hope it's nothing too weird like that day in her room.
“Meh, it’s no biggie. Gimme a second.” She pulls out the pin in her hair, and puts on two scrunchies from her bag, giving herself a pigtail look – these are fancier than the ones she used at the ‘incident’. “Do I look cute with these on?” She stares at you expectantly.
“I suppose…?”

“Hehehe, I knew you'd like them!” She blushes, whole face going reddish pink. Girl, that was more of a doubt than a confirmation…
“Is that what you wanted to show me?” Man, what a letdown.
“These aren’t lame! I told you I wanted to show something lame… You know, now that I think about it, maybe I really don’t want to show you.” She holds her bag close to her.
“Why?”
“…” Scarlet gets closer with her bag around her chest, clutching it tighter. She takes something out of it and gives it to you without looking at you. It’s a beanie.

“Is this for me?” You take it with the remaining strength you have.
“Mhm.” She’s still evading your eyes, red all over – her name basically defines her now. “D-d-do you like it? I-I can change it for another one if you want, or maybe you aren’t a hat guy? You like sweaters? Well summer’s coming, so it ain’t a good idea to have one now, isn't it? Or maybe it would be a good investment for the future! N-Not that I think about the future that much! As a positive girl, I just know things are going to be great regardless if you're there or not – b-but I don't mean I don't want you to be there with me, or anything! Please say something.” She’s talking way too fast now, and her lisp is appearing in between her sentences. Scarlet looks so ashamed of herself.

How do you respond?

>“Sorry, I don’t like beanies. I'm fine with the sweater though.”

“Thank you; it’s a nice present you bought for me.”
“I-I-I didn’t buy it, I made it! I’m a little rusty, but I think it didn’t end up looking super ugly, right?” Scarlet still doesn’t want to look at you, but you can see her wry smile – she’s so proud of herself.
“Yes, it’s really nice. But Scarlet, you have to learn to be more confident in yourself.” This conversation again, huh?
“Whaaat? I’m super mega confident now! As much as I can be anyway…” Scarlet replies, then she finally looks at you and realizes you raised your eyebrow in skepticism. “Geez! I’m doing all I can! I can’t be perfect in less than a week! Besides, you're the only one who I’m having trouble talking with. I get all nervous for no good reason.” She’s all pouty now.
“Why is that? It’s not like I can jump on you and do anything. I can barely blink right now.” Did she forget you are basically a bedridden mummy like Constance?

“I-I’m sorry. I just wanted to give you a nice present from the bottom of my heart; I was nervous you wouldn’t like it and crush my heart! Isn’t that normal? I just wanted to see you happy!” She hasn't burst into tears, so that's an improvement.
“Uh… It wasn’t obvious to you I would like it?” You like presents, anyway. Who doesn't?
“I don’t care about if you like it out of sympathy; I wanted you to love it for what it is – it’s different, you know!”
“But I like it anyway.”
“No, you don’t understand – it’s always like this! Every time I talk to you I feel bad ‘cause every time you pat me on the back and tell me to be confident, I feel like it comes from a place of pity than genuine care. I want you to like me for the way I am and not because you feel like you need to put up with me because you're a nice guy. I already have Terry if I wanted to hang out with someone who only feels sadness and pity for me, instead of being my genuine friend. So please, don’t look at me like that… I don’t want this to be like that.” Scarlet goes from determined fire to being all gloomy.

…This turned out to be a deeper issue than you expected. Hopefully the concussed version of you can handle this appropriately.

See some sense, girl.

>>"Do I look like Terry to you, Scarlet? Cheer up! Of course I'm your friend! We had this talk last time, remember?" Try to channel that main character energy!

And just tell her that we have a girlfriend already
The longer this goes on the worse it will be

"Scarlet, I do like you for who you are, and I do like this present for what it is. I don't feel pity for you, especially after how much you're bettering yourself. I would never lie to you about something this serious. I'm cheering you on, you know?" You give her the smile! She seems so conflicted now.
“…” Now Scarlet stares at the ground, then closes her eyes – you can feel her remorse or something like that. “I’m sorry... I’m just being silly again. I can’t believe how awful I am to doubt you.” She says without opening her eyes and with her lisp going to full effect. There she goes again…
“C’mon, stop being so gloomy, you came here to cheer me up, not to mop the floor with your tears.”

“I-I’m not crying!” Now she finally looks you in the eyes. She’s red again but not as badly as before, and her silly lisp is still going. “Or am I…?” She wonders with genuine concern.
“It’s okay either way.” It’s not like you haven’t seen her cry before. In fact, you know way too much about her than what you’re comfortable with.
“I need to go to the bathroom…” She’s holding her bag perfectly still. “Once you get out of here, we’re going to Jackey Frosties again, okay? I’ll invite this time.”
“We’ll see.”
“Yeesh, you’re just supposed to say ‘yes’. Anyway, I’ll be back real quick.” She trots her way out of the room. Goodbye entertainment, it was good while it lasted – even though it was more stressful than anything.

Giving a good look at this beanie, it looks way better than that cheap rag Nariko usually uses. You wonder how your hobo is handling being in a completely different environment. Talking about being in a completely different environment, now you're struggling to understand how Constance can endure this every day and still keep on smiling. Eventually, Scarlet is back again, and has a completely different t-shirt on; a larger one.

“Hey, why the change of look?”
“Oh, don’t tell Terry, but my old clothes are feeling tighter and tighter, and this one is way more comfortable… Besides, I like how they look. Wait, I shouldn’t have said that to you either.” She blushes a little. Yes, the T-shirt is larger – but she doesn’t look like she has gained weight. Or maybe you’re just fucking blind when it comes to women's clothes. “Well, time to have some fun and ignore what just happened earlier! What do you wanna do?” Scarlet gets closer, then she very carefully helps you with your pillow. That’s much better for your aching back!

“It’s not like I can really do anything right now…”
“That’s a smart TV, right? Maybe we could watch a movie?”
“But the internet here is terrible!
“Maybe your company's pretty bad, which one do you have…? Anyway, I have some sweets too. You can still eat sweets right?” Scarlet, you just got out of the dentist. Why do you want to rot your teeth out this early?!
“I dunno…”

“Oh, look – I have signal! Now let’s watch one fun movie! I know just the perfect one for you!” Scarlet is getting hype! You're not feeling it at all, though!

Hey, this movie was way better than the ones you and Terry had to endure with her! Could have been worse. You gained 1 point of Courage – hooray!

Eventually, Scarlet had to leave. She promised her parents to get home early while they were out. Good-bye, big booty. Now… There is absolutely nothing for you to do anymore. How are you going to cope with this? How long are you going to be trapped? Sadly this is all we have for this thread! Thanks for pla—

Wait! Someone is knocking on the door! You check your watch and it’s past school time, perhaps… could she be here…?

“Johnny!” It’s Nariko! She’s all happy!
“Oh god, I’m so sorry for this…” And Yu Yan too!
“They couldn’t wait any more to see you, Ando.” And Nina! It’s like a whole party has reunited. “Henry wishes you well; he’s in detention right now for escaping during classes.” You hear Uccelli sound a bit smug at this.

Sadly, this beautiful reunion will have to wait for next thread. Thanks for playing everyone!

Oh shit, Uccelli going to have to claim her man in front of them?
