Hey y'all. If you couldn't tell, this quest will be taking place in the well known DC Comics universe. Here there be gods and monsters, magicians and aliens, and even a clown or two. But bear in mind that due to various time travel related and or multiversal shenanigans, the DC world is ridiculously complex as a whole. So I'll be running a very streamlined version of it. And to be up front about it, it will likely be shaped by my own likes, dislikes, and biases.
Oh, and aforementioned shenanigans won't be making an appearance.
Mostly.

>The Rules
I will write up the life of our young hero Morgan Barrett, a high school student who has just truly begun his career as a superhero in Gotham City as Gray Ghost, you will be given prompts to direct him.
Some things will require a dice roll to determine success or failure or something else entirely. Write In's are absolutely encouraged but I reserve the right to torpedo anything.

The voting period will last 20 minutes after the prompts are given. I will then announce the voting closed and write up the chosen response.

>The Dice
We will be using 1d100 ninety percent of the time here. Best of three. We might use something else when applicable. I'll be running with a loose sort of degrees of success/failure thing here so no real DCs.

[Titan 005 Gray Ghost. Transfer Complete. Welcome]

You hike your backpack up a little as you step into the mission room. Titans's Tower still doesn't quite feel like your own yet, but it's getting there. It doesn't help that the thing is so big you feel like you're alone in the world if you end up on one of the floors alone. When the elevator lets you out on the top floor you're greeted by unenthusiastic grunts, both male and female.

Walking around the kitchen you spot Donna and Roy sprawled out on opposite ends of the couch in lounge wear. "Hmm, wasn't expecting a parade or nothin' but is that how you say hello?"

"Meh, bored." Is all you get outta Roy.

Donna offers an actual sentence. "Agreed. We've been out of missions for nearly the whole month with this threat from Deathstroke looming over our heads. And HIVE is just as active as ever."

"I can see how y'all would be bored but I'm up to my freakin eyeballs in schoolwork so I'm not lacking for shit to do." You raid the fridge for some left over pizza while you settle in for a homework session. You never thought Trigonometry or Intro to Physics would be on your list of classes but mom meant what she said about actually having to try.

It's tiring, but rewarding in it's own weird way. You won't deny it feels good to get an A on something tough. After a couple hours and several texts to Babs for some assistance, you finish and look up to find Roy and Donna in the exact same place they were when you started. "Alright you potatoes, y'seen Dick around lately?"

Roy simply grunts in the negative and leaves Donna to answer you with words yet again. "He's been alternating between the garage and the mission room quite a bit, though he hit a snag with his bike recently. Try the mission room."

You flash a thumbs up to the amazon before getting ready to stroll out the room but she stops you just before you leave. "Oh! And if you have time, could you check on Kaldur? He's been sulking about lately. He's probably still in the training room."

With a nod you make your exit to find your way back to the elevator but the speakers sound out, grabbing everyone's attention. [JL 004 The Flash. Transfer Complete. Welcome.]

A red blur jumps in front of you and before you know it you're being guided into the open elevator. "Morgan! Good to see you're keeping up on your studies. Donna, Roy, I see you're doing well. Mind if I borrow your teammate here for a sec? Thanks!"

The elevator doors close on the both of you with a ding. "Flash? What's this about?"

"Well, nothing major. Just came by to ask you if you're willing to mediate, or infiltrate, rather. Actually, none of that is really accurate. What I'm trying to say is, J'onn and I think It may be a good idea for you to come down and talk to Killer Frost."

You blink but the crimson clad speedster doesn't poof away which means this is real life. "Excuse me? Y'mean the icicle chucking supervillain that almost murderized us about a month ago? That Killer Frost?"

"The very same."

His nonchalant-ness throws you off, so you struggle to get your next words out. "And... what exactly do ya think that will accomplish?"

"That depends on you and J'onn. We've kept her at the Hall of Justice for a month now and we haven't gotten anything out of her, and it's not like we're trying to incriminate her here, she does that plenty well on her own. We're trying to help her. But there's some uh- complications that will slow that effort down to a halt. I'm not saying you have to, just think about it. You're closer to her age and J'onn seems eager to get you down there for some reason. Think about it."

Before you can answer, the Flash becomes just that, and disappears the moment the elevator doors open back up wide enough for him to zoom out. You're left alone, standing there with a raised finger and an open mouth. [JL 004 The Flash. Transfer Complete. Welcome.] Then the tower lets you know he's gone.

They want you to interrogate Frost... to help her? Might be the strangest mission you've gotten yet. Though Flash did say it wasn't an order. You could just go about your business.

>Just go see Dick, you've gotta talk about your gameplan for future missions.
>Might as well go check on Kaldur, Donna asked and it ain't like Dick is going anywhere in the next ten minutes.
>M'gann has been pretty quiet lately, maybe you should check on her while you're at it?

Your finger hovers above the buttons in the elevator as you weigh your options. You're not in any kind of rush to come play therapist for some crazy metahuman that try to spear you several times. But, If the JL think she's needs help and not a jail cell, then maybe you should just follow their lead? And Martian Manhunter asked for you specifically, can't say you're not curious about that.

Thumbing the button for the ground floor you end up in the mission room and re-calibrate the zeta beam tunnel for the Hall of Justice. And just like that, several steps take you to the other side of the country and you're in the Hall. To be exact, you're in a security room that checks everyone that comes through the zeta tunnel. [Titan 005 Grey Ghost. Welcome, to the Hall of Justice.]

Several scanners pop out of the wall and hit you before you're allowed to leave the room but the process takes less than a minute and you're on your way. The Hall inner sanctum doesn't look all that different from the outside that the public sees, golden walls covered in evidence of the League's exploits and various adventures.

Though one thing is a bit strange, you look around but despite this being a League base you can't seem to find a single one of them. "Hello? I uh- heard there's a psychopath around here that needs a good talking to- AHH"

Turning around you meet the green stone faced visage of Martian Manhunter. And of course he damn near scares the piss outta you. "Morgan. I am happy you've decided to come. Follow me."

>Continued

Wordlessly, you follow the alien down the hallway as you floats along, standing shock still in the air with his arms crossed. Not sure how you never realized it until now but he's pretty much the opposite of M'gann. Or rather, she's the opposite of him. He's seems so serious and dire, but M'gann smile never comes off, even when shit gets serious.

Not to mention just the way they look. M'gann looks human even when she's all green but you wouldn't mistake J'onn for anyone human. And this is the guy she calls Uncle J'onn? "We have arrived."

"Huh?" You look around and see a large observation window showing you a a cell with the metahuman in question. She's dressed in a sterile white jumpsuit, leaning against the wall with an almost vacant look on her face. "Oh, right. So um- why am I here again?"

Manhunter looks almost perplexed by your question. "To do what we do. Our work does not end with everyone super criminal in a jail cell. The Flash and I have reason to believe that doing so would not remedy the true problem."

Pausing, he taps away on a nearby console and brings up a holographic image of someone's body. Following the obvious symbols you see that it's a showing body heat going in, but nothing being generated. After a time, the body heat going in completely dissipates. And the body dies. "This is a virtual prediction of what will happen to Killer Frost should we keep her contained for an extended period."

"She can't generate her own body heat? How is she not dead already?"

"The same way she obtained her infamous name. She can absorb body heat from living things. But it kills them in the process. She lives in a constant state of needing to feed. Lest she die. So our goal here is to learn the details of how she became this way. Batman has already conducted investigations on her, so we know she only changed into what she is now semi recently."

J'onn closes the console and looks at you, somehow looking more serious than before. "There are two ways we can attempt this, the old fashioned way, and the other way. Of course, the old fashioned way would mean a somewhat normal interrogation. The other way, would take us into her mind. I requested you because I know you've had some experience in this already, however brief. Though it does carry it's own unique risks. And while I do no wish to make you overconfident, your mind seems especially resilient. How do you think we should proceed?"

You scratch your chin while considering the ups and downs but it doesn't take you long to make a decision. "I'm gonna have to go with the old fashioned way here. I'm sure I'm takin' the hard way here but I don't trust myself not to break somethin' when takin' a walk in someone else's brain."

J'onn nods sagely. "The cautious choice. Dinah said you have good instincts. I will still be accompanying you for this, but you will be the one leading, asking questions."

"Any advice before we go in there? I've never really done this before." You look back in the cell, Killer Frost has shifted position to where you can't see her face.

"Do your best not to aggravate or provoke her, I've gotten a decent grasp on her personality and I would highly suggest against being too friendly or familiar as she sees it as patronizing."

"Okay, okay let's go." You walk up to the heavy cell doors and J'on points to his face and you touch yours on instinct, then your realize. "Oh! Right, secret identity." A few minutes later you come back with your work clothes on and J'onn unlocks her cell door with a palm scanner.

Ass soon as the doors open your hit with a blast of frigid air, it sets you on edge for a moment. Reminding you of just how quickly she can attack with her ice. She barely moves when you and Martian Manhunter enter your cell. She turns and eyes you both without getting up and sighs, her breath visibly trailing out. "What do you clowns want now? Hmm, I recognize this clown. You're with the kids that got me in here. Thought you died."

>"Let's be real here, me and my friends aren't why you're in a jail cell."

You shrug. "Well, not dead, but it was similar. Either way, I got better. It was some crazy business."

She flips her hair over to look at you, more like look through you. "Hmph, well, good for you. Some people bounce back from anything. But I guess that's typical of you hero types."

You nearly sit down in front of her but J'onn takes a firm stance next to you so you stay where you are. "What about you huh? You're not looking particularly bouncy. And your just about to to freeze this entire room."

She takes a moment to respond, continuing to stare at the wall. "All you Justice League guys are real interested in my powers huh?"

"Perhaps we are, by our observations you're capable of freezing objects several times your size completely solid, not to mention your ability to generate a near endless amount of cold." J'onn twists the screws ever so slightly.

Shaking your head and look at J'onn but his expression is fixed and unreadable. "C'mon Frost, I think we both know that we're more concerned about you than your powers."

You take a more comfortable position, leaning back on the wall near her. "I mean sure, Manhunter is right. All those things are important, but as to why you're still here. The whole, need to feed on the body heat of others bit. That causes some concern."

She laughs, but it's a bitter one. Dripping with dry cynicism. "Really? The police and shadow organizations on my ass for the past two years haven't clued me in on that, thanks."

Two years? She probably didn't mean to but you may have a time-frame now. [Morgan, do not show any outward change, I am communicating discreetly.] You don't move but look at J'onn through your goggles. He doesn't move a single muscle. [Keep her talking, that's the first she's mentioned anything of her time as a wanted woman.]

Alright, keep her talking. You can do that. "So, let me ask you something then. Or maybe you want to ask me something first, this isn't really an interrogation. Long as you don't ask for trade secrets I can be an open book"

She scowls at he wall, you think for a second you may have moved to fast but she speaks again. "Let's start with where the hell am I?"

Again, you glance to J'onn and he simply nods, not bothering with telepathy this time. "The Hall of Justice, though I won't tell you where inside. Let's just say it's not open to the public."

The cold blooded metahuman doesn't really seem all that concerned by the knowledge. "So you guys really think I'm something. Or you're just scared of me. Either or. Doesn't matter much to me. Go on, shoot."

Right, you better choose your words carefully, she might not be open to questions in a moment.

>"How much longer do you have before you need to feed again, can you tell?"
>"If you've been on the run, why work fro Grodd? His plan wasn't exactly subtle."

"If you've been on the run, why work fro Grodd? His plan wasn't exactly subtle. Summon lightning that turns him into a god? Yeah, you were gonna have more problems than the police if that went through."

She looks at you for the first time since you entered her cell. Dead in the eye "You want to know why? You want to know why someone with multiple phd's would help some genocidal ape and kill dregs in Central City alleyways to feel a little warmth?"

Ice forms on her bed and travels up the walls of her cell but J'onn doesn't move to stop her so neither do you. "Because. I'm living with a biting, gnawing hunger every waking moment. It starts small, like an itch you can't scratch. At first it's simply annoying but soon it's driving you insane. Then, my body is wracked with pain. Killing itself in it's own efforts to stay alive. I worked for him, because he showed me he was on the brink of developing something to make the hunger go away until you, and your goddamn Titans ruined it. That's why."

You want to find something, anything to say really. But you're stunned into silence. Even Martian Manhunter remains quiet until she calms down. "Killer Frost. We cannot erase your crimes, but you should know that the Justice League will do all that it can to help."

Frost scoffs, blowing off his promises. "Please. You're just waiting for an excuse to send me to Belle Reve. Not like it matters. As long as I'm in a cell I'm not getting fed. So, Hall of Justice, Belle Reve, one of them will be where I die."

As silence reigns in the cell, Frost turns back to her wall. Sending a clear message that their is nothing more to say. [We are done here.] Says Manhunter in you mind, so you follow him out. Still unable to think of a damn thing to say to all that.

"You did well. Surprisingly well." J'onn remarks casually as he begins going over Killer Frost's holographic files.

"Wha- excuse me? Did we hear the same conversation? She's convinced she's gonna starve to death and we're no closer to an origin on her condition. And she's not gonna be in a talkin' mood anytime soon. How was that good?"

"A couple of reasons. Firstly, we now know that Central City is important to her. Most of her previous activity has been there and she mentioned it by name when she didn't have to. That implies some sort of connection. I'm sure you recall the Metabrawl in Las Vegas."

>Continued

"Yeah, sure. How could I forgot, robot almost killed me." You rub your knuckles and wince at the memory of punching the Ace's metallic hide.

"Killer Frost was among the captured metahumans, and what did she do when she escaped? Came straight back to Central. There's something tying her to that place. I will collude with The Flash to find out. And most importantly, we now know that her condition is curable."

"Grodd could've been lying though, I wouldn't put it past the ape."

"Neither would I, but I picked up on her surface memories when you got her talking about Grodd and I've seen a portion of his work. It's sound. But It's also incomplete. More than likely, he simply showed her enough to entice her and planned on giving her nothing once he achieved his goals."

"So, what do we do now? I ain't afraid to admit that Grodd is insanely smart. If he didn't finish the cure, maybe it's because he couldn't." The ice in Killer Frost's cell has dissipated into mist by now. But she hasn't moved. Makes you wonder just how deep she's into that hunger now.

"We will develop a cure on our own, or at least something to keep her stable in the meantime." J'onn pauses. "I'm sending the data to Titan's Tower, the more minds that look at this, the higher the chances of completing it are.

You're still watching her sitting in there, waiting to die. "Yeah... I'll show it Babs. And I'll take a look too."

"Morgan, do not let her plight distract you. We'll have some of this planet's brightest working to help her. It's what we do. Go on about your day." And with that, he goes back to clicking, as if the conversation never took place.

Silently, you take the zeta tunnel back to the tower and throw your costume back off once there. Feeling strange just walking around in it. You've gotta find something to do.

You remember Donna asking you to check in on Kaldur just as you're about to pass by the elevator and slide in. In less than a minute it spits you back out on the training floor and you can hear Kaldur before you seem him. He's in his training gear, swimming in the pool. Well, not so much swimming so much as he's being held up by a swirling whirlpool of water.

He lets out battlecries as he uses those handheld devices of his to gather and shoot water into the holographic targets. His accuracy is as great as ever, he doesn't miss a single target and hits bullseye on most of em. When he finishes, he let's the water swell back down and the targets disappear. [Speed & Accuracy Challenge Complete. Calculating Score... 98% Well done, Aqualad.]

Finding it appropriate, you clap as you approach the side of the pool. He does a quick turn in the water, not noticing you until now. "Morgan, how long were you there?"

Slipping your boots off you stuff your socks in them and dunk your feet in the cool water. "Long enough to see you killin' it. Seeing that made me feel like a slouch. Don't tell Ted that."

Kaldur comes to rest on the edge next to where you sit. Leaning his elbows against the floor. "To tell you the truth, I feel as though training is all I do these days."

"I know man, I know. We'll find a way around Slade, I know we can."

"So far, he is full of only threats. He is the least of my worries right now." Kaldur stares at the wall, chin buried in his folded arms.

"Penny for your thoughts, my gilled friend? I mean, unless you wanna brood some more. I hear from Batman that it does wonders for your skin."

He smirks, showing he's not too down in the dumps. "Morga, may I ask you a personal question."

You nearly wince at the memory, it feels like a long time ago. But really, that was your last year in Metropolis, before dad died. "Yeah, just one. But it was an unmitigated disaster, man. I'm talkin like, people were pointing and laughing at me the next day kind of disaster."

"What happened?" He says almost too quickly. "Unless, of course, you do not wish to speak on it."

You wave off your atlantean friend's hesitation. "Nah man. It feels like a lifetime ago. Besides, maybe it'll give you some idea of what not to do. That is why you're asking, right?"

He nods sheepishly, so you just continue, a smile on your face despite the topic. "So, this was before I moved to Gotham, some time before my dad died. I was going to Garfield High back then. Probably the best school in the Suicide Slums. We had a kickass principal. He was as hands on as it could get. He would help with school repairs and maintenance, put a stop to fights without breaking a sweat, we even saw him disarm some kid who brought a gun one day to settle a grudge."

"He sounds like a good man, strong and virtuous." Kaldur comments.

Even now, you still like the guy. "Well yeah, he is all that junk but it all worked against me when I went to Sadie Hawkins with his daughter."

Kaldur quirks an eyebrow up. "Sadie Hawkins?"

"It's a dance, girls choice. Anyway, imagine my surprise when Anissa Pierce asks me to go. Everyone knew who she was, she was smart and pretty. I said yes before I could even think and by the time the night came I was more nervous than I've ever been in my entire life. And I'm counting the mask and cape shit too."

You kick your feet in the water absentmindedly while you dredge up the details. "So here we are in the school gym. And I can't even dance I'm so nervous, afraid of making a mistake. I could feel Mr.Pierces eyes on me so I barely even spent any time with her. Then, when we finally got a second alone behind the bands sound equipment, I got a kiss. And it wasn't gonna be more than that. But of course, I slip and knock us both out in the open. Knocking over everything and destroying about a few thousand dollars in equipment and school property."

Kaldur takes it all in with a straight face. "That isn't so-"

"And then when Mr.Pierce breaks through all the commotion he finds me, on top of his daughter."

"Oh. That is a disaster."

You kick hard, sending a decent volume of water flying. "Yep, we both got a stern talking to after that and an extremely uncomfortable birds and bees talk that I didn't even need at the time. Oh and everyone saw of course. I went through a fight maybe every other day for several weeks, and I kept my head down after that. And Anissa just stopped talking to me. Not that I blame her."

You and Kaldur let silence sit between the two of you while the water in the pool sloshes for a moment. "So, I should definitely not destroy someone else's property and make it look like I am attempting indecencies in front of my dates father."

Nodding, you press your closed fist to an open palm and half bow to the atlantean. "I've taught you all I can."

Kaldur chuckles, which is about as much as you can expect out of him. "So, what's her name?"

He takes a moment to respond, and sighs. Seeing no reason not to talk about it. "Tula."

"Atlantean girl. yeah?"

"Yes. She is- we are old friends, we were taught together, practically raised together. I want to tell her how I feel but I am only spending more and more time on the surface lately, and things may get very... complicated soon in Atlantis."

It's your turn to laugh. "Buddy, listen. These past couple years have taught me that life is only gonna get more complicated from here."

>End of Session

There's one more vote in a moment though so stick around.

Ok! So I wasn't sure where to stick this so we're gonna do it here. This is really important regarding future interactions so cast your vote!

How much did you tell your friends of the future?

>You told them everything, and omitted nothing.
>You told them most things, but left out the part about the traitor.
>You only told them the important things, like how you escaped and who helped you.
>You barely gave them any details, for their own safety.

If there is one way to prevent Bruce from becoming that Old Man, you bet your bottom dollar I'll tell the team.

Shit, I love you Terry but Bruce deserved better.

I'm getting bad vibes from full disclosure

The very fact that the snu snu qt Amazon route has so few supporters compared to friendly archer is actually disgusting.

Listen, we’re always turning out lower half into dust to move around, why wouldn’t we get cute and confident Amazon gf to do it for us?

Artemis is practically the vanilla of all our flavors available, we need an Interesting pick here
>>
>>2547218
Well desu I don't have a strong opinion on which lady to pursue and see value in every one of them. Only thing I'd put emphasis on is that Morgan doesn't lead them all on.

However, vanilla is good. Can't go wrong with Vanilla.
>>
>>2547230
You’re right, I can’t disagree. Can’t go wrong with vanilla, but sometimes you gotta explore the cookies and cream or Rocky Road.

I think at the very least, we should actually explore the other options, instead of picking Artemis in every single choice. I feel like a ton of characters never really get flushed out or experienced in these quests because we get into that Visual novel mentality of “Never pick an option that doesn’t include your waifu” (Except for a few exceptions).

Id like to see more of Donna, Megan, Killer Frost, hang with Speedy and KF.

Can’t only have eyes for Green Arrow (Female)

What I’m trying to say is I want to bang an Amazon and you guys are not ruining this for me

Look, I'm not going to lie to you before this quest "ended" I was on the Artemis train, but I got that damn good epilogue from SleepyQM, where it felt complete. So I'm not going after Artie, I'm going after someone else.

Like Donna, or hell our own "Catwoman," come on. The Grey Ghost with his own little troublemaker?

There was an epilogue? Link please?
