You zoom by the surprisingly strong aura you recognize as Abigail’s. You can’t really see a physical form so much like you could with Keira, but you swear it feels like she turned to look at you as you went by.

You fly up towards the sickly feeling aura above. As you get closer, you can’t really tell who it belongs to, but the list of possible people or pokemon is pretty short.

It feels like a human. You don’t know that for sure. You’ve come to know them as being pretty unique and varying. They’re not just one thing, they’re a collection of streams of energy all collecting around and in a living being. And they change a little over the course of a day.

This sickly one is in the room upstairs, you think. Physical distances and directions can be tricky. But you’re just so relaxed that you don’t have that usual apprehension that makes you overthink these things and lose your concentration. Being around Keira is a lot easier. Like she has some passive ability that makes interacting with her a lot easier in this form.

The sickly aura is sitting still, fuming. You sense a lot of negativity, but you can’t quite tell the nature of it at the moment.

You try to peer inside and understand what’s going on. To your surprise, it’s incredibly easy. It’s all so clear, despite the murky, off putting ‘smog’ around it.

They’re angry, upset, but mostly...jealous? Or is it envy? You forget which is which, but you know it’s one of those. They yearn for something they consider theirs and that is being wrongfully taken from them. They want the attention from someone close that goes somewhere else.

The aura is young. Younger than you. Kai?

You had no idea he was fuming so much. But the sickliness around him isn’t just that. There’s all sorts of issues. Lack of attention in general. Insecurities about everything from sexuality to height to smarts to body image issues and even morality. Rivers of aura energy crash into each other in disorderly ways, polluting and confusing everything. It’s a mess. But still, you feel like you have a really strong understanding of this person. The central issue that the others seem to be particularly tied around in a knot are around the envy and jealousy. He wants someone close to come back to him and help guide him. He’s always depended on them and feels abandoned and replaced.

You managed to look around without expending much energy at all, but you are starting to feel that it’s at fairly low levels. You could do some small things, still.

You decide you’re done here for now. You did so well in trying to understand their aura that you doubt there’s anything else you can learn at the moment.

You float down towards Abigail, past the familiar presences of your pokemon and girlfriends. Abigail’s aura is big and strong, despite her tiny body. You still don’t know exactly how that works. Is it just something you’re born with? Is there a diet or exercise of some sort that improves your aura pool?

Her aura is like a big shining light, except the light is semi-solid. You can push into the more transparent parts and get closer. Really, you sort of have to if you want to approach her.

She doesn’t seem to notice you at first, but as you get closer, it’s like you’re tickling her or something. Like how someone moves the air in the room which makes the hairs on your body move. Something only noticed if there’s very little else going on to distract you.

The brightness in her aura isn’t an indication of her mood though. She’s not particularly happy. She’s not really that upset, either. You can sense some anxiousness and tension, but nothing like that sickly aura from before. There’s also a nice, if small, sense of her feeling accomplished and needed. She recently did something for which she got recognition. Maybe she helped patch you up?

Of course, that’s all surface level stuff. Who knows what’s deeper?

A tiny wave of confusion washes over her as she glances around, but it’s shrugged off as just a stray sensation.

You move a little closer, thinking about the ways you can interact with Abigail.

“Abigail.” You say in a moderate voice. There’s no answer.

“Abigail.” You whisper, this time reaching deep inside and expelling the slightest drop of energy. It hits her like a single raindrop, causing her to turn around.

“Great. Last thing I need with Laki acting all crazy is to have Herb stuck in my head.” She mutters, going back to doing something with Conqueror. You suspect she might be brushing it or something of that nature.

Oh neat! That works! But that was just a small test. You’d expel a lot of your remaining energy to do anything beyond a very weak and short whisper. It helps that she’s calm and undistracted at the moment. You couldn’t imagine what it’d take to do this to someone in a hurry or with a lot going on.

You try to brush closer against the aura. This is easier but harder. It’s easier in that it really doesn’t take much energy to do, but it’s harder in that you need to focus your aura into a more concentrated ball to be able to push hard enough for her to notice. With your weakened state, it takes a lot of effort. But if you do it hard enough, she seems to react a little.

“Arceus on a stick!” She whispers to herself looking in the direction of your body. “You know how much it annoys you when you’re recovering and people won’t stop checking in. Leave the guy alone. Just suck it up for awhile longer.”

Conqueror’s aura gets a small wave of confusion over it, but she assures the pokemon she’s just muttering to herself.

Recovering? From what? Does Abigail get hurt from something on a regular basis? Maybe she’s secretly really athletic! Or maybe she’s got some hobbies that hurt her.

Huh. You guess there’s still a lot to learn about Abigail.

The safe amount of energy you sequestered for your little adventure is rapidly running out.

You want to try to explore this a lot more, but you’re just too concerned about burning out on energy. Your main focus is on healing as well as possible.

“See you around!” You say playfully to Abigail as you kick off from her aura to send yourself back.

But doing that really gets to her. She spins around hard this time. Her face becomes clear for a moment. “Golden-top?” She says, a happy expectation in her voice. Small sputterings of aura follow with her words and reach you. It’s not a lot, but it’s a nice little accident.

She squints, but doesn’t see anything. She does look more confused than ever, though.

You land right back into your body, shooting up with a start. The world is so vivid! So colourful! Sensations like temperature and the weight of the blanket overload you for a second. You can feel the leftover energy pouring into yourself, giving you a nice, relieving warmth that helps with your adjustment to the world of the conscious.

Sorbet pops up from your lap. Gobble, who was sleeping next to your face, also shoots up. And there’s Mace, and Dice! You guess Laki stole Belladonna because you don’t see her. And....wait, is that a pokemon wearing a weird motorcycle helmet?

It’s Cubone! It stays away from everyone and hangs near the window.

Gobble hugs you from behind. Luckily it’s the back of your head and not really where you got hurt. You try to reach back to pat him but the position and stiffness make it hard. Sorbet licks your face and Dice bites your foot. Mace stays in his corner but expels tiny streams of energy that reminds you of a weak sparkler, despite himself.

“You’re awake.” A voice scares the sugar out of you.

You turn to look and find a familiar face. “Gardevoir!”

Last post was over an hour ago so you know Gobble’s either getting a sandwich or really writing up a doozy.

You try to pet all your pokemon and regret dearly the fact that you only have two hands. Your attention is torn and thrown about the room with wild abandon. You can’t decide what to do so you just give everyone hugs.

And that of course, hurts your side. It’s only now that you’re moving that you feel it. You’re in your boxers and the world outside the blanket is cold. But hugs are so, so much warmer. And so worth it. The bandages feel fresh, but you’re not paying much attention to them.

“How long have I been out? Where is everyone? Who treated me? How bad was it? Is everyone eating okay?”

Gardevoir listens with a blank face, waiting for your stream of questions to finish. You feel a little self conscious and stop asking questions and just give her a hug too. “Nice to see you.”

“I have seen you for some time now.” She says back, before she starts filling you in.

From what she tells you, it’s actually pretty late in the evening the day after the attack. Everyone is home somewhere and the general feeling was to have people not come into your room except for checkups. Laki’s dad and Abigail have been very helpful in patching you up. Hana had a lot of suggestions and things she did to make your stay in the bed nicer, but she and Laki have had to be very strongly discouraged from staying in the room while you rest.

Everyone’s been eating well. Gobble wasn’t allowed in the kitchen, but when Laki’s dad decided to get a barbeque going, Gobble took over when he wasn’t looking. Lake was furious, but held his temper at Gobble and eventually relented that Gobble had some talent, and decided to adopt him as his little cooking helper. Gobble viewed it as being the other way around and they built a bit of a power struggle centered friendship over it.

“You’d like me to tell the others that you’re awake.” She says.

“Umm, yes please.” You feel a little exposed that she knows that so well.

She nods and goes on her way.

“And thanks. For looking over me.”

“One of us has to.” She says back, shocking you with that comment and brief display of smug self satisfaction before leaving.

After a moment, there’s a scrambling up the stairs. You recognize the heavy thund of Hana’s metal feet and Laki’s laughter as they apparently playfully fight their way up the stairs. Sounds like just the two of them.

Your boxers make you feel pretty exposed, but they’ve see you before. The sound makes Cubone very on edge and it scrambles to a little defensive position it has prepared near the window. Gobble and Dice move to her to try to get her to relax. She doesn’t look like she’s going to do anything crazy but she does look on edge.

You calmly sit on the edge of the bed, glancing over to Cubone. You decide to go pick her up. She seizes up, but doesn’t fight you as you take her back to your sitting spot.

“Hey Cubone. It’ll be okay. It’s just the-”

The door flies open so hard you worry about it coming off the hinges. Laki and Hana spill into the room and almost tackle you. They try to stop short when they see Cubone, but what ends up happening is Laki tackles your upper body while Hana’s mechanical legs log but the rest of her keeps flying forward and her head bounces harmlessly off the soft corner of the mattress.

There’s a lot of laughter from the girls and yourself, but Cubone curls up defensively on your lap, terrified.

“Awwww.” Hana says, peeking up from between your legs. “It’s so cute and scared.” Somehow, hearing her say those words from that position wounds you, but you can’t place why.

“Your safe.” Laki says, putting a hand on her hip. “Remember what we promised? You’re a guest here. You have our word as Akaneki.”

Cubone uncurls a bit, but you can still see some frayed nerves. Sorbet looks very slightly puffed but nothing big like how she’d get before. Mace is undisturbed.

“How are you feeling?” Hana asks, getting up.

“Good. Ow. Sore and tired, and a little groggy.” Laki pulls you into her lap as you answer.

“Dad had some painkillers.” Laki explains. “He’s always ready in case there’s a work accident.”

Hana interjects. “Abigail was super helpful too! She knows a lot about this stuff. I think she has nurse experience.”

“Your projecting.” Laki says. Her tone seems to indicate they’ve had this conversation before. “You think everyone who ever doesn’t get completely overwhelmed by the sight of blood has some medical experience.”

“Is...is that common, here?” Concern lurks on the edges of Hana’s voice.

“Are you okay to leave tomorrow?” Laki asks. Her question sounds casual, but the way she runs her hands over you and holds you displays a lot of care and affection.

“Tomorrow?”

“Well, I don’t want to rush you, but I’ve been training and getting ready for the next gym. Keira will be here any minute. Dad will be done with Cubone’s stuff tonight.” Laki says. “And I really want to show you guys around the island. We haven’t had a chance to really give you a taste.”

“Oh you should have seen her when you came in!” Laki’s mom says, entering the room. “She was so worried about you.”

“Mom.” Laki protests a little. You feel the vibrations in her chest tickle the back of your head.

“I saw the way she fretted and worried. I know my little girl. That’s love. And don’t think I didn’t see it coming from you too, Hana.”

Both girls get embarrassed. If you weren't almost naked you'd probably be beaming, but you're embarassed too! You try to subtly cover up with the sheet, but Cubone is sitting on it and you don’t want to pull it out from under her. You note that Cubone keeps her back to you while watching the others. That makes you feel like she trusts you.

More footsteps are approaching. Nobody seems to care about your privacy.

As soon as her mom leaves the room, Laki grabs your head and turns it so she can stick her tongue down your mouth. “You damn brave idiot.” She says before doing so. When she’s done, she makes a funny face. “Oh. Ew. Sorry Soft Hands. But I can taste how long you’ve been resting here.”

“Sorry.” You mutter, feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed.

“It’s fine.” Laki says. “You did get pretty destroyed saving Cubone.”

Hana goes ahead and leans up to give you a kiss on the lips. “I’m sorry I missed it.” She catches herself. “I mean, not that I missed seeing you hurt, but that I wasn’t there. To help!” She quickly adds on. “Not that you aren’t tough enough to handle stuff without me, I just mean, really strong things might-” She stops herself, looking embarrassed. “Guess there’s another good reason to keep my mouth stuff, huh?” She delivers the joke under her breath and still cringes at herself again after anyway. “Not that I mean to be insensit-”

“He gets it.” Abigail says from the doorway. “You guys don’t need to treat him like he’s dense and fragile. Taking a little beating like that isn’t that big of a deal. Don’t make him feel like such a helpless victim.” Abigail sounds unimpressed. “Anyway, get dressed and ready. The parents are going crazy preparing for Keira.”

“I better go calm dad down.” Laki says, reluctantly pulled away, leaving you feeling cold.

“Can I get you anything?” Hana asks.

“I’m good. I’m going to go say thanks to Kai for letting me stay in his room.”

Hana nods. “Okay. Good idea. Do you need help getting dressed?”

“Umm, not really.” You move your arm. There’s some pain in certain motions, but you should be able to manage.

“If you need help showering, let me know.” Hana adds in as Abigail drags her away.

“And I thought he’d be the thirsty one.” The redhead says, closing the door.

“Oh yeah!” Hana opens it up one more time. “I caught Mandibuzz. I wasn’t sure if you wanted it or if I should release it. It doesn’t seem to like me. But we can figure that out after.”

Oh right. Laki, and people from Akaneki, have a cultural rule against catching pokemon they don’t intend to keep. You guess Hana volunteered, not knowing if you had any ideas or plans or anything.

As you get dressed, you look at Cubone, who looks back at you. It cocks it’s head inside that little motorcycle helmet. It’s still holding onto your Super Rod, although it doesn’t seem to bother trying to use it as a weapon anymore.

[Bad gang. He went to talk his sister out of her association with some people and since he couldn't quite do that very quickly, he ended up tagging along to look out for her.]

She's a little wary of her competitors, but there's a friendly associate type of relationship with some where there are no trust issues sharing a few things or helping to check someone's back for what they're wearing. But she's also been backstabbed a couple times in small but hurtful ways. She's really come to admire a producer for some of the shows as sort of a mentor figure. They like her because she's low maintenance and works with them when things go wrong instead of complaining and being demanding.]

[That's a tricky question. Keira has come to see being holy and being good as having a lot of overlap if not being basically the same thing. Someone who is good, even if they know nothing about the specifics of the temples or anything, would still be upholding the main tenants.

Keira sees Herb as a very, very good person, but not a well educated one. She sees him as maybe needing a guide, although a part of her thinks she might just want to be able to be helpful in that area because she's still a little jealous of him and wants to prove she's not entirely being 'shown up' by him. But she has those feelings well under control. She admires him a lot more than she's jealous.

She's help Herb build a temple under the right conditions and arguements. What those conditions are, even she's not entirely sure. She's learned that being holy doesn't always mean knowing what to do or being right, so she wouldn't blindly follow.]

I still don’t want to be trying to persuade her in one direction or the other. There are lots of positions in the Mewori temples and all but that one requires vows of celibacy. General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.
Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

“Hey.” You look down at the Cubone in the room. “I know you’re worried now, but once you get some training under your belt, you’ll be able to defend yourself no problem!”

Cubone looks up, intrigued at hearing that.

“Even against Mandibuzz?” Gardevoir asks, startling you.

“Are you asking, or Cubone?” You try to clarify.

“Cubone, but she did not use those words.” Well, yeah. “Mandibuzz in her mind translates closer to “Sky Terror.””

A slight pain shoots into your side. You must have moved wrong. “Oh. Well, I think it’s definitely possible. Lots of pokemon can develop strategies for dealing with types they’re not very effective with.”

Cubone looks inspired by those words. She stands up. You can’t see it’s eyes through the modified motorcycle helmet it’s wearing, but she looks like she’s got some gears turning.

“Cubone, what are you planning to do once you’re armed? Because if you want to come with us...” You aren’t quite inviting her to the team yet or anything, but you already have Gardevoir with the group, so at the very least you figure you’d let Cubone know you could talk about it.

Cubone looks at your bandages for a moment, and feels the helmet it’s wearing. “Saving others from being targeted by a Sky Terror.”

“Sounds great! I’ll train you later tonight, if you’d like.”

Cubone looks at your team, letting it’s gaze fall On Sorbet, who it saw fight. She nods enthusiastically, but then she seems to change her mind.

“What’s the catch?” Gardevoir asks for her.

“I don’t need anything in return. Umm, I guess I might ask for your help training the others, depending on what sort of training we’re doing. But that’d be voluntary. I just want us all to get a chance to improve and get exercise.”

Sorbet hops to your side, as if to vouch for you. Cubone seems to be put more at ease.

You finish dressing and head upstairs to where you think you remember where Kai is. Everyone else you see on the way is too preoccupied.

“A Ghost priestess, coming to our home for dinner.” Laki’s dad, dressed very sharply, paces around the house cleaning every little thing as you make your way past.

“Nobody here is dying, right?” Laki’s older brother asks, looking unkempt and uncaring.

“You will if she sees you wearing that! Go put something respectful on!” Lake yells.

Ah, there’s the door. You knock gently.

“Hello?”

“It’s me, Herb.”

“Laki’s downstairs.” He answers back, with no discernable emotion in his voice.

“I wanted to talk to you, actually.”

He cracks the door open and eyes a few inches lower than yours appear. He’s listening.

“Thanks for letting me recover in your room.”

“Dad insisted. I don’t deserve any credit for something I have no control over. I assume you’ll need it for quite some time.”

You give yourself a quick pat. “Well, I don’t feel great, but I don’t think I need any special treatment. I can sleep anywhere.”

“Your wounds must not have been that bad after all.” He says. “That’s fortunate.”

He’s not rude at all, but he does seem pretty cold and distant.

“What are you eve-” You hesitate for a second. The question just seemed to come out of nowhere. Are you F-ing her? Why would he ask that? “We’ve been intimate.” You decide to leave it at that. “Why do you want to know?” Your heart is exploding out of your chest.

“Laki always avoided guys who tried to do stuff with her.” He says. “You came along and now she’s just... banging you! Like some loose Huka girl! There’s a lot about what he’s saying that’s bothering you, but one thing that stands out a little more than the others is the idea that Laki would never do something intimate on her own. She’s the one that initiates most of the time. She’s usually pretty keen about initiating and being on top. She says she likes to squeeze out every dr-

You fill her in on the brief conversation. She seems shocked that Kai felt that way. She also seems a bit unnerved about your sex life being questioned like that. “I should talk to him.” She sighs. She puts a handle on the door, but then stops. “I don’t...treat you like a little brother or something, do I?”

She raises an eyebrow. The stress on her face floats away. “You think I’m gentle?” She’s giving you those big cute eyes she only lets out when you’re alone.

She gives a very light, testing poke into your side. You flinch a tiny bit. “I guess you’re more used to being roughed up than I thought.” She leans in close and whispers. “I’ll be less gentle after you recover.”

Your hips feel fear but the rest of you reacts positively to those warm words hitting your ear.

She leaves into the next room, and, having nothing better to do, you head downstairs.

Laki’s dad is still pacing up and down the house, cleaning every little thing. Keira is going to be here any second. Oddly enough, it’s Dice that looks the most disturbed by his stressed demeanor. Something about the way he paces. It’s not a big thing, but it definitely bothers him.

You can smell some slight burning from the kitchen, but Laki’s mom yells out that she’s handling it. You see her whizz by the open doorway to the kitchen with a wine-glass in hand.

“Where’s Hana?” You ask nobody in particular.

“Getting changed upstairs.” Laki’s older brother says. “She doesn’t need help, she says.”

Why did that even come up, you wonder.

You glance outside and catch the slightest glimpse of red hair by Onix.

What are you going to do before Keira arrives? You get the impression dinner will be a bit of a production.

Lagi it means "Heaven" and is Polynesian and matches the naming pattern for Laki.

Maybe, since Kai is the letters of Laki minus an L, his name should be Laki plus a letter. That way you can only have five children before you run out of names. Any children after that would be nameless outcasts in olden times.

You learn down and scoop up Dice. You can’t be sure, but you swear he almost flinched when you reached out to him. He’s very accepting of being held, though. He licks your face, then gently nibbles your chin.

“Hey. Glad to see you too.” You ignore the sharp pain in your side you got from lifting him. It’s one of those annoying things you keep forgetting about until you set it off.

“Dear, would you sit down, please?” Laki’s mom says from the kitchen. “Laki’s already told you this priestess is a nice girl. She doesn’t like formalities. Right, Herb?”

Huh? “Oh, um, yeah. Keira’s very easy going. She doesn’t really like pomp or formalities.”

“See, Dear?”

He sits down, but bites his nails.

You take Dice to the backyard. He’s looking less stressed by the moment, being away from Lake. You’re not really sure what happened there. Dice has been around fighting and shouting and all sorts of things without caring.

“Hey, Goldentop! I was just thinking about you.” She coughs. “Don’t take that the wrong way, though.”

“Wrong way?”

She gives a self-satisfied smirk. “Don’t play coy. You waaaant me.” She laughs, but then she stops. “Wait. What are you doing out of bed?”

You hold Dice up so she doesn’t accidentally push him. He’s so floppy in your hands that he doesn’t balance himself and almost just rolls out.

“Hey. Hold on. I want to tell you something.”

She stops shoving for a moment.

You start with an important one you really want to get out. “You’ve been really awesome lately. I owe you so much. Seriously, you’re the best.”

She goes back to attempting shoving, but much harder. “Flattery doesn’t get you out of your bed, or me into your bed. Now go.”

“But I’m fine!” You say, opening up your shirt.

“Please, I’ve seen y-woah.” She stops after you lift a bandage. Dice almost slips from your grasp so you lower him down a bit. “That’s...wow.” She pokes around.

“I worked on it with my aura ability.” You say, feeling self conscious holding your shirt open. She’s seen you shirtless a million times, but it still feels weird being inspected like this.

“That’s...Herb, this is a big deal. I saw these when they were fresh. You healed so quick.”

“It probably helps that I had a great nurse.” You offer. “Really. Thanks.”

She rolls her eyes but still smiles. “It’s cool. Just keep cooking me meals and we’ll call it even. And even if flattery doesn’t get me into bed I don’t mind it.”

You love cooking meals. It’s not a chore. But there are other topics to tackle right now. “Hey, so, about your aura.” You dive into explaining your astral projection journey and her big energy pool of aura. She seems pretty receptive, given the results you just showed her. She’s even more surprised at your assessment of her aura.

“I have the biggest aura you’ve ever seen?” She sounds skeptical. “Me? Not like, Keira or someone spiritual?”

“Yup!” you have no explanation as to why or how that really works.

“Huh.” She says. “So where are my magic powers, then?”

You explain that it’s more about training and learning to use it rather than just sheer force. You aren’t sure how much of what you’re explaining is reliable fact and what’s just your own biases or possibly wrong opinions on some matters. “I think Keira would know more about it.” You offer. Then you look to the house, wondering if maybe she’s arrived.

Dice climbs over your body and rests on your shoulder. It’s actually really awkward for you but it’s hard to move him. He looks like he instantly fell asleep.

“Me, an aura wizard.” She says, amazed. Is there such a thing as an aura wizard? “Come on. You’re pranking me, right? Is this some weird attempt to make me forget that you’re totally falling for my mature feminine charms?” She brings the topic back there again.

“How?” She does the same gesture of putting her hands on her hips that Laki does, except there’s a lot less hip to use.

“Well, I’d like to try borrowing some of that energy.” You say. “Sort of how Bella does.”

She folds her arms. “You want to vampire me?”

“I guess if you put it that way, I can understand why you wouldn’t wan-”

“That sounds so cool! I’m in!” She shoots up. “Let’s do it. Well, not ‘it’, despite your deepest desires, but the vampire thing.” She smirks. “I’m never letting you live that down, by the way.”

“Joke all you want. You wouldn’t be able to handle me.” You wink and walk away. “Come on. We’ll probably have to wait until after dinner.”

“I could too handle y-” She stops. “Okay, but that’s not fair. You couldn’t handle me either!” She chases. “Don’t get such a big head. You might have a harem but it’s not like you’re just some super irresistible dude that girls are just throwing themselves at!”

You open the door to the house and look back to Abigail to give your response, but suddenly a blur comes at you at alarming speed. Your first instinct is to flinch and your second is to strike at it, which is weird because that’s not your usual first or second instinct. But you control it and instead catch it in your arms, spinning it around and coming to a rest in a princess carry.

“HERB!” Keira hugs you, clinging tightly. And for the moment, your wounds barely hurt.

Dice scrambles up your back to get to Keira as quickly as he can. You think going around would have been faster but the way he rolls off you, off of her, onto the ground and then around her leg is too adorable for you to care.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.
Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

You hug her back. You hug her back so hard that you begin to worry about hurting her. To keep a better hold of you, she uses her incredible agility and flexibility to move from the princess carry to wrapping her legs around you.

You feel the weight of Dice climbing you but don’t feel a bite.

Keira’s skinny arms and legs feel like a warm blanket of comfort. It feels like it’s been so long. “I missed you.”

She doesn’t say anything that you can hear. She just holds you even tighter in response and buries her face into your neck.

And the two of you just hold each other, not wanting to break it. It’s like you just can’t risk not seeing each other for that long again. Of course, in your mind you know it wasn’t really that long, and you know you and Keira haven’t been friends for a very long time either. But that doesn’t seem to matter. You and her became good friends so quickly that things like time feel like superfluous details.

“So uh, somebody missed me too, right?” Abigail says, a semi-sarcastic note in her tone. “Seriously though, Keira, Herb, Dice. You’re causing a little bit of a scene.”

Dice, who was biting onto Keira’s leg and just hanging by it, let’s himself drop.

You force yourself to glance into the cold world outside this hug, and spot Laki’s parents watching in complete shock from the window. A neighbor in the house next door is able to see inside the yard too and looks equally surprised at the scene.

Oh right. There’s a thing about touching clergy. And dinner is probably ready. You won’t get a chance to talk much until later tonight, you’re sure.

You don’t care. You reach an arm out and pull in Abigail. "Keira, it sounds like Abi hates hugs. We need to help her get rid of that hate. It's very serious."

Kiera giggles and helps as soon as she sees what you’re doing. Keira’s a fairly small girl, but compared to Abigail, even she’s got a size and strength advantage.

Abigail looks like she wants to say something snarky or sarcastic, but she just sort of accepts it and hugs back. “Might as well cause a scene together, right?”

“I missed you too, Abigail.” Keira tells her. You almost forgot how much of their brief time together they spent with each other. They got along great.

“Oh. Flowery.” Abigail comments as she gets a sniff of Keira’s hair. “I- GHJH!” Abigail arches her back. Dice is biting her now. He always does his best to be gentle, but sometimes he gets overly excited. Abigail doesn’t want to remove him though, and he seems to understand he’s being too rough after a moment and adjusts before you can say anything.

“Stay away from the older brother. He has a way of buttering our biscuits wrong.”

“There’s somebody out there that tests even your patience?” Keira giggles again.

“Well now she has to meet him.” Abigail says on Keira’s behalf while she finally breaks the hug. Your little group eventually starts heading back inside, where the table is being set.

Laki’s mom, dad, and two brothers look very well dressed, without trying to look like they did it on purpose. Well, Laki’s older brother is wearing his outfit a bit sloppy. It looks like traditional Loanan outfits, so you can’t be entirely sure. It could just be that he’s wearing it right and his is supposed to look that way. Your opinion of him might affect your view of his fashion.

“It’s an honor to have you in our humble home.” Laki’s dad, Lake, bows to her. “You’ll have to forgive Herb. He’s a fine young lad but still has a lot to learn about some of our ways, like touching.” You don’t sense hostility, but there is a warning in his words directed towards you. You guess that’s his way of trying to look out for you.

“And Laki!” He almost shouts. “Where’s your traditional dress?”

“I haven’t worn it since the games.” Laki says. “It probably doesn’t fit anymore.”

Lake looks unhappy at that excuse, but doesn’t comment. His eyes do fall towards what Hana and Abigail are wearing with a thinly hidden judgement. He seems to be letting you slide since you were hurt and you’re from the mainland.

Keira offers a prayer before the meal, and then it’s time to dig in!
