Rolled 94 (1d100)

Last time the dungeon encounters a severe labor shortage, some serious magical mishaps occur involving summoning, horde finally returns, and you sacrificed all your slaves. Two times your dungeon has been breached but not by adventurers instead it was Outsiders thanks to summoning mishaps. Everyone is complaining about the lack of manpower since you have far too many projects and work that needs to be done but not nearly manpower to answer it. You showed off how evil you could be by torturing slaves and then sacrificing them. You learned an awful lot about how to make someone experience pain and of the twisted undead you can create from their corpses. After pissing off a bunch of evil outsiders you managed to bribe them into your service at great personal expense. You encountered two particularly powerful entities the first of which left after giving you a warning and the second asked you a question. Which you replied with 'curiosity'. After that, it too left.

Leaving you alone in your wrecked summoning chamber and your growing reputation. Along with a bunch of newly recruited demons and evil spirits even a few eldritch creatures that your not entirely what you're going to do with. With the rest of the horde returned your numbers as swelled and your treasury as grown.

More importantly, you have oh so many projects and needs but not enough manpower to resolve them. Maybe if you hadn't lost all those slaves you could make it work by working them to death...instead, you still got a SEVERE labor shortage to deal with.

Do a meeting with the smartest and most competent of our minions to figure out how to solve the problem we have with a lack of manpower, is wretches even the best way to go for us? If other magi does not prefer them why should we absolutely go for them?
We can even use goblins for the unimportant stuff where goblin idiocy won't be that huge a problem. If the goblins are too huge a problem we can disipline them by tossing half of them to the dungeon core shop or to the demons.

On the side I propose to spend some wealth to do some space warping of the dungeon, we can reduce the amount of manpower needed to haul stuff around by making warped space hallways between the most important workplaces to reduce the need to haul stuff around so much, we can also have the dungeon core split off a small shard that we can place at a smart place like near the mines to futher reduce the distances needed to haul things. I do not want to warp space to make it easier to get the dungeon core itself however, as that thing is to valuable for that.
>>

That would be >H: and if others are ok with the warp hallways idea also >E:

Ps: If we feed fire chickens to some orcs will we get bad ass fire orcs then? And how long till our hydra hopefully raised on fire chickens grow big and strong?
>>
I suggest we put our mass of wealth to use and buy the ingredients for a wretch hive, then proceed to churn out Wretches and we should probably check who’s good at what among our forces and apply them to that, and see what makes those hobgoblins so special.
>>
>>2456950
>If other magi does not prefer them why should we absolutely go for them?
Because they are tireless, cheap, specialisable, reliable, strong and are advertised as not going to cause problems like the goblins and orcs can.
>>
Rolled 33 (1d100)

>>2456950
Other mages don't use wretches because they're an Overlord thing.

Magi, when they need laborers, use "golems, undead, and outsiders" which we actually have a lot of. Each of the three. Golems and most of our undead are mindless, wretches are stupid but avoid the problems inherent to mindlessness.

Goblins can solve problems, my understanding is they're just bad at "boring" work and will deal with having to do it by making it "exciting" usually in ways that cause Overlord headaches.

>>2456929
>>E: Construction with the Dungeon's aid its very fast
The other projects can wait, but we need a system of storage rooms to keep all our stuff.

>>D: Trade for when you want to 'shop' aka conjure up some objects
>Buy the less rare wretch hive ingredients from the Overlord Shopping Centre
>Buy more workers from Overlord Shopping Centre (whatever we can get in bulk)
>Look on the black market for the rest of the ingredients to build a wretch hive.

>>2457115
This.

>>2456950
Consulting management and warping space are also good ideas. Weren't some of our guys already doing space warping construction with the aid of earth elementals?
>>
>>2457160
>Goblins can solve problems, my understanding is they're just bad at "boring" work and will deal with having to do it by making it "exciting" usually in ways that cause Overlord headaches.
To my understanding, it's partly a lack of entertainment facilities in our dungeon (which we should remedy because it'll make our residents pay more lifeforce, aka free money) and their inherently curious-to-the-point-of-idiocy nature.

They want to find the best way to do things, are curious and intelligent enough to find better ways but are also retarded enough to not really consider what they are doing.
>>
>>2457178
So if we let the goblins have fun making fancy goblin gadgets and war machines on the side then they might be more ok with doing some amount of boring work without wanting to get suicidally clever about it?
What I mean is if the goblins get just the right amount of tired in the head with fancy gadget work then they might be less likely to get intellectually bored when they do some of the boring work that needs to be done.
>>
>>2457246
It's worth a shot and if nothing else, providing our minions with casinos and other distractions will result in happier and more productive workers.

Also, goblin war machines are apparently pretty good. So it's a nice industry if nothing else.

I still say my solution of every team of goblins having a supervisor ain't a bad idea since they are perfectly acceptable workers for the most part if we have someone to stop them trying to do dumb shit or at least moderate it.

Also, there's the simple fact that these goblins have provided us with a fair few useful ideas thus far. If we get rid of them then we'll be screwed for any sorts of creativity outside of our own which is quite a limiter for us if we want to delegate any sorts of development program.

>Horde, Horde Overseer, 1 Evilgineer
Expand your own living quarters. Be sure to include Orc Barracks. As the Horde Overseer has told you we've designated a wing for you guys.

>Earth Elementals, Evilgineer Primaris
Continue doing whatever it is you guys were doing. By the way, what are you doing and how long will it take?

>Lava, Fire Elementals
We suspect you were making something for constructing a food dehydration chamber before we called you into the Summoning Complex. Carry on.

>Dwarves
Carry on with the forge, foundry, enchantry, and etc. construction. Requisition some golems to assist you.

>2 Evilgineers, Golems
Continue work on our distributed Storehouse Network.

>Magic Adepts
Fucking expand and reinforce our summoning chamber. We're tired of this shit happening.

>Outsiders, Golems, 1 Evilgineer
As you can see, we need to expand the entrance corridor and fortify it. This is your task, and it will be your home. The first to greet and harvest any unfortunate souls that come in. We have provided golems for working and an Evilgineer to execute your plans, but we expect you will add some flourish to their work.

>Kobolds
Continue work on the Treasury.

>Other/Overlord
Order an entire advanced fucking Golem/Puppet Workshop off the Magic Market. The whole fucking kit and kaboodle. Then use our Forbidden Knowledge to order shit off the Magic Market and Black Market to upgrade it to be appropriate for dealing with Unshackled Golems. Exchange Wealth for this. However much it takes. We've got plenty to go around.

Order 4000 more Worker Golems++ wth wealth and materials.

If we didn't give the Dark Flame Spirit and his surviving Elementals a reward for enduring their journey, reward them now.

As a standing order, any construction project that can make use of any of the rare materials we produce may utilize them.

>>2456929
Didn't we have some dark halflings?

>>2457712
Alright, let's go with this.

I have misgivings about trying to solve our labor shortage with golems, but as long as the plan is to create unshackled golems that can be controlled and just keep the worker golems as-is to use as the dumbest of dumb muscle I'll relent.

Wretch hive would require a lot less oversight and personal attention from us though (once we got it built).
>>
Rolled 26 (1d100)

>>2457937
They're not mutually exclusive anyway.

But I did some looking at the first thread, and there are mentions of wretches 'bringing other problems' despite their excellence as workers. It makes me wonder...

Meanwhile golems are a known quantity and their weaknesses are known and not too difficult to circumvent.
>>
>>2457937
>>2458041
An additional solution does exist I'd point out.

Given goblins can create war-machines, they should be able to create machines that reduce the labour needed for various jobs like farming, mining and construction. Also a large portion of our transportation of resources from mining / farming to workshops / kitchens could be automated using conveyor belts.

This is before mentioning that they had the idea of mechanical workers that'd do the same basic things as golems without magic. Which seem like a good idea, given we might be able to construct fully automated production systems for them given enough time, giving us a endlessly growing workforce.

Obviously this doesn't resolve a lack of labour outright but it would stave off and reduce any issues arising from it.

>>2458219
I would be willing to bet that you can automate a golem production line using golems.

It might be a very bad idea to let goblins have a go at establishing core logistical facilities (like kitchens) but I’d be willing to see if they can come up with digging machines and such.

Also did anyone notice we have a Goblin Warren now? I get the feeling we need to quash that shit ASAP.

The reason supposedly why Magi never resorted to wretches besides how evil it is to use such creatures and simply because they didn't NEED them. Hell even evil Magi prefer not to. Instead relying on dark things like undead and demons. However for Overlords who lack the magical acumen...wretches are very useful indeed.

There is no stopping goblins being clever they are naturally inquisitive creatures w1ho love to tinker and experiment. Problem is they don't care about safety and lack wisdom.

Orcs recommend slaves.

Goblins suggest contraptions.

Kobolds suggest stealing someone elses shit.

Dwarves suggest using golems or puppets with an Overseer.

Elementals ask why does the system not solve the problem itself naturally. Like an ecosystem.

Undead state that mindless undead with a couple smart ones in shifts to watch them will solve the problem.

Spirits suggest worshipful followers are the answer who are eager for blessings.

Demons ask why you don't just force weaker lifeforms to handle it for you or just shove some poor soul into a tool to handle whatever it is.

The eldritch...well they garble mystery and answer with annoying riddles. Assuming you can understand it at all and don't go insane from hearing it.

>>2457048
You can always use the dungeons abilities to imbue minions or creatures. Making them stronger and even giving them special properties. Like making ordinary insects giant or magical.

As for the Hydra its being fed with fire chickens and sleeps in a lair surrounded by fire rock and flaming gemstones. Turning it into a fire hydra would go a lot faster by imbuing it.

>>2457115
hobgoblins a type of goblin. Each type of goblin is known to be remarkable in their own way. From the psychotic bugbears to the magical yobbers. Hobs aka evil goblins are lovers of war and industry. They are considered the most dangerous kind of goblin. yet among their own kind the goblins claim that Hobs were not always the frightful fighters they are now. That once upon a time the Hobs were mischievous but industrious creatures. Yet as they were not as cowardly as their kin more and more they found themselves fighting. They became increasingly good at it and their industrious nature that used to be about home gradually became twisted for war. Combine that with their fast breeding and they became a huge nightmare to deal with if it weren't for one thing. Their treachery which consumed them. Outsiders consider it a blessing but the goblins say its due to their self-loathing about what they had become and they hated themselves for it.

Besides their fighting ability hobgoblins are also surprisingly good at housekeeping, cooking, alchemy, farmwork.

>>2458219
Goblins are indeed excellent tinkers and their surprisingly skilled at alchemy as well. Too bad they cannot into workplace safety and act like a bunch of immature horny rabbits.

and industrial tasks.

As for fighting hobgoblins are not as cowardly, stronger, and tougher then other goblins. Most importantly they have discipline and deep desire for destruction. Along with their treacherous minds and dirty fighting. Makes them a difficult foe to face. Hence Overlords particularly fond of goblins have hobgoblins form the backbone of their armies.

>>2457143
Wretches are dimwitted and they can't provide you with anything but largely mindless labor which is crudely guided by an evil will. Other minions meanwhile will provide you with very valuable resources like Life Force and ideas. Something Wretches do not.

So keep in mind they don't offer any sort of upkeep bonuses or specialties. They offer no passive bonuses and their active is only working. Its why even Overlords who love wretches find themselves using other minions as well. There are things that wretches just can't offer.

Also the expense of lots of wretches quickly adds up given how there is no way to reduce their upkeep and they don't passively pay for themselves.

>>2457937
You do forgot to include them as I was still figuring out just who would the Horde have all recruited during their trip. Especially since you wiped out the slaves.
Thought I included it previously but I guess I was wrong or it fell off.

These are great I suggest doing the undead one immediately, and giving the dwarves some wealth to atleast do a small scale version of their solution, we have that undead puppet master right? We should give the undead puppet master control of some puppets and see what type of work they would be good at and see how they work together with golems. Then we need to ask the elementals if there is some ecosystem solutions that they think we can implement, (I can't think of any).
>>
>>2459140
Yeah it was as I remember it, the goblins placed the spirit into their prototype because it wasn't working in order to find the fault rather than disassembling it. Not because their machines were intended to need spirits to work.

Take notice of the fact the spirit screamed "FUCKING GOBLINS JUST BECAUSE IT DON'T WORK DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN SHOVE ME INSIDE WHATEVER IT IS AND ASK WHY".

How much would it cost to get a bunch more?

>Goblins are indeed excellent tinkers and their surprisingly skilled at alchemy as well. Too bad they cannot into workplace safety and act like a bunch of immature horny rabbits.
Eh, when the workplace safety is only limiting their population growth and you have supervisors to stop them goofing around they are some of our best workers.

Well there's a massive limiter on using them.

>Goblins may be inventive but they can only do so much with so little. They don't have the training, materials, or facilities to do much with it.
That just sounds like you saying we should invest in making some sort of goblin school, engineering department and prototyping workshop all the while dedicating some materials to whatever insanity they are developing.

At this point the earth elementals are helping clear room for storage. Its not complex but they gotta create a ton of room so it's going to take awhile. Engineers are mostly trying to make sure it won't collapse and going over the strange stuff they made earlier.

Meanwhile among the fire and lava elementals.

"You sure the Boss really did those things?"

"Yes, we are in deep shit. He thinks we had some special idea once he finds out the truth we are fucked."

"Oh come we just have to build something..."

"That won't explain the missing supplies that got eaten when we took them up."

"Oh right I forgot about that..."

"Not to mention we don't know HOW to build shit. That is the earth elementals domains and they are all busy elsewhere! So what the fuck are we going to do?"

"Well we gotta come up with something anything really or else..."

"Hm...we are forgetting something important. Who says we have to use the boss's earth elementals?"

"Hm...thats a good idea but how are we going to 'convince' them?"

"Well we can't obviously do it they won't listen to us...but we all know someone they WILL listen to right?"

"Even if we pull it off we still gotta find something that will impress the boss enough after taking so long. We still need some bright idea..."

Dwarfs continue building with the new help of the golems.

Magi discuss how to keep the summoning chamber safe without removing the forbidden aspects. Which has resulted in several brawls, fierce arguing, nasty poems about each other's mothers, promises to bang their sisters, and expertly written research papers refuting each other's suggestions.

A massive brawl as begun in the entryway among the outsiders. With the sole and very unlucky evilgineer caught in the middle after being chained up and left danging above the fighting.

Kobolds are busy digging and trapping the treasury.

-40 wealth acquiring tiny Golem and Puppet Workshops++. Black Market Broker has been contacted if you're willing to not pay for a rushed order he'll show up in ??? Turns. If you do pay he'll show up next turn.

4000 more worker golems++ purchased.

They have already been rewarded.

As a warning Overlord not all your minions are...well skilled enough to use rare materials without wasting much of it. Dwarves could pull it off readily enough the other minions on the other hand...

Due to lack of proper storage it is troublesome to know exactly how much resources are stored away.

The magi complain over handing over 'valuable materials' in exchange for golems. They state it would be better to just summon some help, build them yourself, or make use of the undead.

Horde forces have begun to squabble over the lack of living space and supplies. It was then suppressed by the ever watchful undead. Who apparently been busy doing...well actually come to think of it their crypt and graveyard are much bigger. Guess they been busy digging.

...Meanwhile somewhere in the dungeon where living minions dare not tread. Not even those goblin nitwits.

"Build more, dig more, we need MORE," roars an intelligent mummy at the working zombies and skeletons. "Have we had much luck with the stonework?" He asks another mummy.

"Nah most of these fuckers are mindless. They can't handle stuff like that and the fucking wraiths are immaterial. So we were stuck crafting shit cause those living cunts don't dare come around here. Problem is not very many of us were ever masons...or crafters. Most of us were important people and tomb guards. Got lucky with that lava flood. Thanks to that we got a mixed bag of talents."

"Fucking wraiths don't even do anything but float around and act spooky," complains another mummy who was carving rock.

"What we need is more bodies. Not whoever poor bastards the goblins got killed or infighting from the horde. Pricks didn't even bother to bring back many corpses. Monster and beast corpses yeah but not ordinary ones," complains an undead puppetmaster.

"You kidding we been dying for some dead creatures for awhile now," cackles the undead beastmasters. "Now we finally got some assuming we win the fight with the crafters to keep em intact."

"I wouldn't get your hopes up," laughs a wraith coming out of the ground. "Most of the horde recruits were wild things who disdain metal and prefer good old monster parts for their gear. Hahah."

"Well, then why don't you do your fucking job and haunt them until they give em up?" Points out an annoyed undead beastmaster.

"Easier said then done, those fuckers all look the same," shrugs the wraiths. "I mean we tried but we accidentally suppressed a race riot instead."

"...How the flying FUCK did you confuse a goddamn race riot with some busy craftsmen?" Asks the puppetmasters stunned as one.

"Well they all looked busy," explains the wraith. "Figured the only ones who could have been busy right now were the crafters. Thought maybe they were fighting over materials or something lame that only the living cares about like sex."

"See told you guys those wraiths are completely goddamn useless," points out a mummy carver.

"Not completely useless, if it weren't for them everyone else in this hellhole would have forgotten that we even exist," shrugs an undead beastmaster.

"...I thought that was what the bosses were for?"

"Nah see that would imply they could actually be USEFUL for once."

----
Deep in the graveyard and crypt where the boss undead dwell.

"Alright, so we have been at this for a while now. Finally got space to put those giant fuckers and everyone is crammed in nicely. Now we got to channel the miasma and bring in enough corpses. Make sure the necropolis gets built now whose got the blueprints?" Asks the zombie lord.

"We don't even get enough necromancers much less a helpful corpse crafter," cackles the Skeleton King. "So how would we have blueprints?"

"Uh guys we got a problem," says the scourge.

"What problem? We are in the most isolated part of this entire fucking dungeon and the living stay away. Even the outsiders avoid us. What did those mindless morons go the wrong way again?"

"Not that," says the Scourge. "But you know all that space we been digging for like...ever since we got here? As in the place where we put all our special projects?"

"Yeah what about i-"

*CRRAAAASSHHH*

"What the fuc- holy shit just LOOK at all these open space guys!" Shouts an excited Kobold." I think we finally got enough right?" Right?"

"...Goddamnit," curses both the zombie lord and skeleton king slamming their heads into the stony table before them before they screamed at the wraith scourge. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US THEY WERE DIGGING TOWARD US? YOU GODDAMN USELESS FUCKING WRAITHS! YOU HAD ONE FUCKING JOB!"

"You any idea how hard is to herd together a bunch of immaterial cats that can float and fly through pretty much anything? It's like that but oh so much worse," explains the Scourge shrugging at them. "It's not the worse thing that could have happened. We just have to dig some more."

"Easy for you to say you don't even have to dig or work," curses the smoldering magical mummy. "All that space was for the projects and room! Now we just lost it all goddamn it. Should have gone with the spatial manipulations despite the lack of undead magi. We even dug out into the exact specifications that would amplify certain key effects. Now it's ALL been wasted!"

"See this is exactly why we need to make ourselves known in the dungeon and who better than a bunch of spooky ghosts to haunt the living and fuck with the outsider pricks?" Deflects Wraithful Scourge. "That way none of this would ever have happened!"

"...I take it back my zombie friend," states the Skeleton King slapping the Zombie Lord on the back. "Zombies are not the dumbest kind of undead despite their rotten brains."

"Yeah, I take it back too skelebro," nods the Zombie Lord in agreement as he slaps the skeleton king on the back. "Just because your skull is literally empty doesn't make you as retarded as them."

"Aw look we are all in agreement that mummies are the dumbest!" Interrupts the Wraith Scourge.

The magical mummy after staring at the three for a bit finally gives and leaves after uttering "Fuck it all three of you idiots deserve each other."

Deal with the outsiders.

"Look, I know that you KNOW how many souls I FUCKING SACRIFICED IN HORRIFIC FASHION to get all of you cunts here in this Dungeon. I did NOT do that so you motherfuckers could immediately set about KILLING EACH OTHER!"

Burn Energy and use magic to create 2 more entrance hallways (1 for each brand of outsider: Demons, Spirits, Eldritch. If that's wrong make more) to the dungeon. Anyone entering the tunnel should be randomly spat into one of these entrance hallways through magic fuckery.

"THERE. Now prove to me that you're fucking worth what I paid for you!"

Expand the Golem and Puppet Workshops. Pay the Black Marketeer's delivery fee, and spend the turn expanding/upgrading them with the Black Market Materials and anything we have in our horde as well.

>Dwarves
Carry On.

>Earth Elementals, Evilgineer Primaris, Evilgineer, Horde
Continue to expand Horde living areas. Burn energy to enhance the speed at which this is done, we don't want a race riot to break out.

>2 Evilgineers, Golems
Continue on the storehouses.

>Magic Adepts
Assist int he Golem Workshop expansion and upgrades.

>Outsiders
You've each got your own entrance tunnel, now fucking get to it and quit fighting each other.

>Kobolds
The Undead's work is off limits. You two groups work it out, we'll mediate if we must...but you probably don't want it to come to that.

>Fire/Lava/Other Elementals
Well according to you the environment should take care of the task on its own. Just make it to where we dump food in one side and it comes out processed on the other. Should be easy for you guys.

-For whoever runs the tavern
The minions want skilled labor? Fine!

Purchase a plethora of pertinent skill tomes, technical manuals, guides, magical teaching books, demonstration golems, and etc. from the Markets.

Look, Tavernkeep, you're obviously a competent person who's keen on the pulse of the Dungeon. You set up a gambling ring on the outsider fight quickly enough. Found an academy for profit, here's the materials. We'll expect our cut.

But can we add to give the undead beastmaster some beasts and the undead puppet master some puppets? A bit pointless having specialists and not giving them their tools of trade.

Ps: If a large amount of our undead was nobles in life they they should know of some cool forgotten hidden stuff, we should ask them and send scouts to promising locations.

So we'll have 1 entrance designed to send intruders randomly to 1 of 3 different hallways, each with different Outsiders?

Sounds acceptable.

Still need to do something with the undead. Education will not be a fast solution to lack of skilled workers (especially without actual teachers), and we still need more diggers. But maybe we'll get lucky with the academy idea. I'd suggest getting actual teachers though, if we're going to attempt that.

A magical door was placed at the dungeon entrance. The dreaded Dimensional doorway. Open the door and who knows where you'll end up~. Something that gives even adventurous heroes nightmares. Too bad it only led to three shitty hallways. Not something cool like a hell dimension or under an ocean.

Dwarves continue working. Minions at this point have stopped betting on how soon they'll be done and focus on how long. Though nobody has bothered to tell the dwarves this fact.

Horde living space expanded. Now its not 'quite' so crowded.

Work continues on the storehouses.

Magi are working on setting up the workshops. Albeit they argue about how it would have been a good idea to have a magic engineer or an alchemist, but then that resulted in a fierce argument where those offended declared that clearly, the answer is not finding someone who actually knows what they're doing. That Instead, the answer is 'more magic'. While in the distance watching them is some very disappointed puppet master undead.

Outsiders are disappointed that their brawl has ended so soon and more importantly without there having been a clear winner. Minions complain about wasted bets.

Kobolds attempt to use trickery on the undead, only to fail because said undead they tried to trick were mindless nor alive and above such frivolities. Having been beaten by sheer stupidity they whine and complain how its 'not fair'. Thier attempts to find the undead boss to complain to proved fruitless in the end.

As word reached the fire elementals. A troop of battered elementals returned escorting captured earth elementals. When word reached them.

"So wait we fought all the way to the goddamn Earth Elemental War Camp, captured some of their forces, AND dueled against their leader for...let me get this straight just to find out that all we had to do is watch shit as it dried?"

"Yup pretty much."

"Goddamn it. All of that shit for nothing. NOTHING! Bah, at least the boss won't kill or torture us."

Meanwhile, in the Tavern, there was a mummy and a magical wizard drinking at the bar. The Mummy was drinking some noxious liquid magic and the mage was drinking something that smelled like brimstone and roses.

"I can't believe all my hard work for nothing...NOTHING. Just because of some shitty ghosts, mindless idiots, and lack of room. In a fucking DUNGEON of all places," complains the mummy to the wizard.

"Ah so they still haven't figured it out huh?"

"No at least I have a good excuse, you try getting those mindless morons to manipulate the dimensional correctly. I can't do it all on my own in a short time frame."

"Why didn't you go to the mages?" Asks the wizard.

"You mean those morons who fucked up summoning chambers not once but TWICE? AND the same fucking guys who haven't realized that dimensional manipulation is the key to the space problems? Make small space bigger on the inside. Simple for mages and look at them! They are the glowing definition of incompetent moronic magi."

"Its why I came out here to beseech for your help. You are the only compenetent mage in this entire joint."

"Not even the Overlord?"

"I don't know how he understood the key to necromancy on a single fucking trip, but he's wasted it. Pretty sure he's the magical version of an idiot savant."

"Yeah Overlord Oath can do that too you..." mutters the wizard as he takes a large drink. "Look I'm just not interested in helping out with something that is well put bluntly so beneath me."

"And being the tavernkeep...isn't a waste of your talents?" Asks the mummy.

"Hey now its a pretty sweet gig. I don't do the brewing, the cooking, or the gambling. I'm just the friendly barkeep who offers sagely advise and creates magical tonics. No stress. I haven't been this relaxed in like...well I can't honestly remember being this relaxed. Even during my so-called vacations."

"I thought you hated this place?" Asks the confused mummy.

"Oh I do, but the people are okay. Goblins are always there being a bunch of clever little childish shits. You got the oh so serious orcs who know what matters in life is fighting, fucking, and feasting. The simple things. The prankster kobolds who love pulling pranks, outsiders fighting over whose more out there. The undead who obsessively busy themselves. Thanks to all of them it's not so bad. Hell, even the bug and animals are interesting."

"...Your one weird fucking wizard you know that?"

"Magic my friend, magic," laughs the wizard when the Overlord shows up trying to find the mysterious tavernkeeper.

"Who the FUCK is the goddamn Tavernkeeper? You know wizard?"

"Nope, I'm just the barkeep," shrugs the wizard.

"Goddamn it the one competent jackass I find and somehow everyone gets confused about his existence. How is all you goddamn regulars NOT EVEN KNOW WHO RUNS THIS PLACE ARGH!" After that the Overlord stomps out.

"Come to think of it who IS the tavernkeep," asks the Mummy to the wizard barkeep.

"Eh, he died awhile back due to a drunken brawl and ever since nobody has wanted the job due to all it entails. Well, that and nobody knows who the fuck was suppose to take his place."

"Ah...who is the Overlord looking for then?"

"I got no idea. Supposedly he's looking for the guy who runs this place and did the gambling ring for the Outsider fight. Good luck figuring out who got there first as all the bookies were fighting over the spot."

"So nobody runs the tavern after all?"

"Nope, everyone has jobs to do. Brewer brews, the cooks cook, and the barkeep offers drinks."

"No boss huh?"

"Boss is the customers and whoever's job your screwing up by not doing your own," answers the barkeep.

"...There is no way that arrangement is going to last."

"Hey if someone wants the position they can take it. See how long they last here. HAH. There is a reason why taverns in dungeons are little more than a glorified cafeteria with booze and games."

NEWS
The black market broker has arrived!

He accidentally went through the front door and ended up in the hell hall. Good thing they recognized each other otherwise things would have proven ugly.

ALERT
Fire elementals watching food dry have successfully caught and beaten up some native monsters. Some of them died but the survivors were rounded up and brought into the dungeon.

The beastmasters nearly wept tears of joy after examining the specimens. Claiming these monsters either could dig extremely well, easily move in the tight confines, or could swim in molten magma. Some of the monsters captured were quite rare and valuable.

Their materials can be used to make gear that can counter the native heat and prevent minions from cooking alive inside their armor.

WARNING
Minions complain that they're tired of having to divert their attention and resources so much. Greatly reducing the efficiency of the action and delaying results.

They would also like more places to spend their pay and enjoy themselves.

Perhaps what we need is an arena (or several) both for sports and fights. And activities that blur the line between those two.

I thought we were mostly trying to have minions finish tasks before rushing off to new ones, but then I barely understand anything that's going on.

Wonder if we could work out a system whereby the undead could get in on the sweet beast remains like they want, i.e. a portion of carcasses go to them rather than crafting. As the crafting does seem quite important, it may be difficult to strike a balance. But for now, we should probably just tame the monsters. First thing's first and all, if we want to domesticate them for labor, companionship, battle, and materials.

Also we need to meet the broker I guess.

You are an Overlord aka the BBEGs that takes entire teams of heroes to face and who rules over their dark twisted domains. Notorious for their incredible power and twisted knowledge they possess. Insanity is not uncommon and corruption is the norm.

Which is why minions avoid complaining about 'you' because issues are quite common with Overlords. So you know abuse your power, be evil for shits and giggles. Give heroes impossible choices just to watch them squirm. Curse the land and make their peoples rue your very existence. Chase immortality, power, and knowledge. With the resulting corruption be damned.

...Oh yeah. Lil Warhorse is now a thing. He hangs out in the Tavern and torments the minions with his rhymes in the name of 'entertainment'.

Resolve the workshops.

As an Overlord, you finally realized that ordering a bunch of magi from various professions and specialties was not the best idea to order them all to resolve a specific conundrum dealing with one specific specialty. It resulted in a lot of arguments, mistakes, and some outsider perspective, but considering how it was ALL outsiders. Not much progress was made at all.

Fortunately, after dealing with the recent undead fiasco you noticed the presence of undead puppetmasters and the fact they stood watching the other magi be idiots while shaking their skulls.

According to them, puppets due to the way they function and built-in features requires an an...intelligent hand to build them. One that has a good idea of what they are doing. Turns out puppets while mindless are for more adaptable than their golem counterparts. Which require the space that is used to include extra features for the puppets to instead be made to handle its auto-piloting functions.

So unlike golems it's not actually possible to mass produce high-quality puppets due to this restriction. Even for golems a single mistake made can result in dire consequences. Anywhere from a rampaging golem to catastrophic failure. However its 'simplicity' in how straightforward the actual manufacture of a golem makes them easier to produce then higher quality puppets.

As a result, there are surprisingly large differences between golem workshops and puppet workshops. Despite how 'similar' both of them are. Which naturally resulted in much confusion and arguing among the magi who simply wouldn't know any better.

Which resulted in you having to oversee the golem workshop directly and the undead puppetmasters handled the puppet workshop. While building the golem workshop you couldn't help but to...modify the traditional designs. Where is the stuff for unshackling golems? It's just so...lacking. Too lacking. Fortunately, there were no golemancy inclined magi there. So they had no idea what the modifications you made were really for.

Having that black market broker to handle the rest made it so much easier and most importantly better.

Ooooh yea, golems! Maybe we need to be starting to think about doing deeds of great overlordish evil soonish, like if a lot of dead are needed make a ghost hivemind, why not make alot of people dead? Turning a city full of people into a broken city full of dead people must surely provide some wonderfull research opportunities for a clever necromancer like us.

Anything involving actually using our necromancy would be good. So would using our even more astounding discovery that we've so far done even less with, the recipe for orichalcum.

We'd need a blueprint, but we already have a blueprint for bronze golems that use magic. I wonder how much more effective an orichalcum one would be.
>>
>>2484786
I'm getting this feeling that us having Orichalcum is OP or something. It's been under-emphasized despite it requiring a crit to discover and the recipe costing 100million energy by the old-style currency system.

Perhaps we need to deliberately state that we release the formula/recipe to the goblins to do what they will with.

Rolled 58 (1d100)

>>2488815
Welll yeah, it hasn't been mentioned in the updates because we haven't done anything with it. The Overlord personally is the only one who knows it.

Should probably tell the dwarves how to make orichalcum before giving the recipe to the goblins. Assuming none of them already know it.

Giving it to the goblins (regardless of who else we tell)...I have no idea what would happen.

I’m pretty sure I’ve included in some action plan or another “do something with orichalcum” in some fashion to some minion group or another, so it’s definitely not just the Overlord who knows it. It just doesn’t seem to have produced any effect.

Particularly I’m pretty sure I’ve asked the Orcs to set up Orichalcum production, because they should be able to produce it en masses given the way they do smelting and foundry-ing, and the first logical step to doing anything with it is to set up reasonable production.

>Threads 3 and 4
>Ctrl+F "orichalcum"

Thread 3 had a couple of actions "if we didn't unlock orichalcum, continue researching it, if we did, do something else." And a question for the evilgineer that was never answered.

Thread 4 has 1 mention of orichalcum in a plan, but as the reason we want to get the dwarven facilities up. Then I had "try to figure out how to set up large scale production of orichalcum," which we never got around to due to Outsiders.

>Ctrl F for this thread
Orichalcum wasn't even mentioned until I brought it up.

At no point did anyone want to ask the orcs to set up orichalcum production. Early in thread 4 someone did say we need to set up industrial production of orichalcum, but that was discussion after the double crits were rolled, and we got distracted by Misicwa and the other results of the crit.
>>
>>2489329
Also possible someone misspelled it, but if so they also did not use the word "production". (I searched that word too)
>>
>>2489329
>>2489331
Right, so in sum it’s been mentioned on the player side but it’s been very quiet on the GM side.
>>
Rolled 68 (1d100)

Bump.

If crit, we establish industrial Orichalcum production and all of our minions get enchanted/runic Orichalcum arms, armor, tools, and fortifications.
