"Wakey wakey, can't believe this guy is even still alive," says a painfully loud voice as you feel stabbing pain in your stomach and head. Blearily your gummy eyes open and you look up to notice doctor wearing a mask looking down at you. Who was busy searching through your pockets while patching you up. "You don't look like no splicer so how the hell you still alive?" He asks you while you slowly make sense of your situation. It didn't take you long to realize you were just one body on an entire corpse pile.

"Whaa...what happened," you asked in panic rolling down the pile and slamming into the hard floor causing from trying to get away from all the dead bodies. The 'doctor' shrugs nonchalantly hops down and pull you up.

"That's a very good question that I would like to know too. How did someone like you survive what all those splicers couldn't?" Responds the man as he starts dragging you away.

"Stop thief," you try to break out his surprisingly strong grip.

"Look if you wanna live shut up and keep moving. Why someone like you left the rich safe spots to come down here with all the splicers and fighting I got no idea. Things have really started to go to shit in this town and people like us are a dying breed. They all either splice themselves in order to survive and become one of those things or die, trying to escape. Right now it's only a matter of time before the splicers break through security and start tearing up what's left of the only refuges in this city."

"What? Impossible it can't be that bad yet and who even are you?"

"Yeah Ryans keeping quiet about how bad things have really gotten out here. As for me I'm one of the only normal people still left alive down here. So let me guess you came down here after looking for escape huh?" The 'doctor' replies as he suddenly pushes you through a door before bashing the door controls on it.

"Wha stop your going to lock us-" Then you heard it. Crazed laughter, footsteps, and mad rambling run past but halting before the door before bashing at it.

"I'll tell you this right now those 'escape' routes are bullshit. Otherwise, I would be long gone. So for you its been a wasted trip and by the time you get back home chances are those splicers will beat you to it," mutters the strange man who pulls out a cigar and lights it.

"Can you just tell me what's going on," you beg. In reply, he merely points to what's outside. The formerly beautiful underwater city full of wonders...you see flickering lights. Flooded structures, and even desperate fighting. In short, the city going to hell and falling apart.

"Welcome to Rapture kid."

>>2403286
"You mind answering some of my questions," you tiredly ask while checking your injuries.

"Only if you answer my own," responds the man enjoying the view while smoking his cigar.

"Fine who are you and why did you save me?"

"Me I'm just a working stiff. Maybe a doctor and maybe a businessman," replies the man who after taking a closer look at is wearing a lab coat over suit and wearing a surgical mask which he had lowered while he smoked. "As for saving you let's just say I wanted some company and well you are the only nonsplicer I met in weeks. So why DID you come down here anyway?"

"You still haven't told me your name?"

"You can call John Doe," snickers the strange man. "Now are you gonna answer me?"

Alright I swap out the love bird for danger sense given the votes for gf.

Since we got ties for the other two guess its gonna be a hybrid option.

"Actually I'm looking for my missing wife and daughter," you tell the strange man after confirming he patched you up with a surprising amount of skill. Guess he wasn't lying about being a doctor. Though you still don't have his real name.

"Ouch both of them? That's...well at least it's not just your daughter, so you might get lucky," speaks the man scratching his head.

"LUCKY? I didn't know things have gotten this bad and...and," you roar grabbing him.

"Look all I'm trying to say is she might not have gotten turned into a little sister!" Defends the strange man as you let go of him after taking a few deep breaths as he starts to rub his throat from when you grabbed his coat.

"You...you don't think-" you begin to mutter in a hopeless fashion fighting back tears.

"If it was just your daughter then you probably have been out of luck. Lotta little girls are disappearing throughout the city and getting turned into little sisters. Since your wife disappeared too you unlike the rest of them sorry sons of bitches might still have a chance." He continues to explain patting you on the back. "Question is why do you think they are down here?"

"...My wife left me a letter at home and now I'm just trying to track them down before its too late," you admit when your senses started tingling out of nowhere. You look towards the door that the splicers failed to breakthrough until now but now...you suddenly have a bad feeling about it. "I think they're about to breakthrough," you state pointing at the door.

"Unlikely I busted the door controls and splicers rarely bother with lightning plasmids so it's not like they can attempt to-" He says looking at the door when the telltale sound of crackling electricity is heard behind it. "Oh fuck me nevermind just our lucky day," he grumbles as he pulls out a revolver which he hands to you before pulling out two more revolvers for himself. "Goddamn splicers crazy bastards stopping caring if you were normal awhile back. Not sure what changed. Before they left us alone because it's not like we had any Adam on us for obvious reasons."

"Why are carrying so many pistols you," couldn't help but ask.

"You try reloading when splicers are trying to bash your skull open or roast you alive with plasmids," he retorts just before the door opened. In came charging splicers and you open fired.

that's a valid point. if you don't have a speed loader, reloading a revolver is a bitch. So carrying two effectively doubles the number of bullets you can lay down. It's preferable to fire from one gun then the other when it runs out. Because dual wielding CS:GO style is hard.

Your first shot missed and feared the worst. You wouldn't have time to make another fortunately you were wrong. Yet after that first shot you got the handle of things and you fanned that hammer. Unleashing your own inner deadshot cowboy.

Your next shot hit a splicer in the torso. After seeing him just shrug off the hit you aimed next for his head. That took him down.

Three bullets left.

Each one int he skull. Two splicers went down with a single shot. The third somehow survived a headshot. Fortunately, you were not alone. Just as you were preparing for a pistol whip another shot rang out and took down the splicer.

Only then did you realize take notice that there were other splicers who were now dead. The other guy picked up his dropped pistol and reloaded them. After that, he started looting the splicers before speaking.

"You can keep the pistol I gave you and we best get moving to a safe spot I know about."

"I don't think I can follow you. I need to find the Orson's Refinery the letter my wife sent me said that was where she was headed," you refuse shaking your head. Before you too started searching the bodies.

roll 1d100 for loot.

"Refinery? Are you mad? That place is crawling with pyro splicers. Don't even get me started on all the big daddies and heavy splicers in charge of underwater mining," warns John Doe as he starts moving the splicer bodies around. "Why the hell does your wife wanna head to the refinery?"

"No i'm not crazy like these splicers. She has a brother lives near there. Who is quite the fighter and well connected. Any idea of any good routes?"

"...Look the Refinery is located in a heavy industrial district and in order to survive down there. The people started splicing themselves heavily as soon as they realized how helpful it is for their lifestyle. Which obviously meant they are the craziest and toughest splicers around. Going there doesn't make any sense if she wanted safety unless...oh crap your Brother in Law is a real bad ass," suddenly realizes John Doe. "Hm I might have to take back the whole thing about not being safe. If she's with someone like what I am thinking, she would indeed be quite safe."

"Still haven't told me any routes," you remind John Doe inpatiently.

"Oh right but I still think you should come with me. I didn't exactly carry a lot of medical equipment on me. Just first aid stuff and you might find something useful there to help you. Before I begin there is just one thing I need to ask you. Why didn't you leave with your wife and daughter?"

"...I had work and didn't take the dangers seriously."

Looting the bodies as quickly as you can. You took the time to think about which route you wanted to take settling on the train. Something that big and heavy should be unstoppable which is exactly what you need right now.

"So you wanna take the train huh? Watch out for the splicers. Trains can carry a lot of people which means a lot of company. Good for keeping a low profile. Very bad in terms of safety," notes John Doe when suddenly you both heard loud stomping.

"Come along Mister Bubbles I smell angels."

That was when John Doe started to panic as he desperately looked around for a place to hide, "Shit the damn splicers caused too much noise and we couldn't hear the big daddy coming until it was too late," he curses trying to find way deeper inside.

Soon enough a Big Daddy stomped its way in followed by a little sister.

You were close...TOO close and you had no way out before the Big Daddy turned hostile.

Or so you thought.

The Big Daddy looked at you briefly and its green light never turned yellow as it approached. Seemingly...ignorant of you. The little sister meanwhile looked up at you and waved before approaching the dead splicers with her syringe. She soon gets to work as the big daddy stomped around a bit before placing himself in the doorway. You couldn't help but take a closer look at the young girl and felt relieved upon noticing she wasn't your daughter.

John Doe for his part seemed to stuff himself inside a tiny nook and did his best to play dead. Hoping they won't realize he's there.

After awhile the little sister finished her bloody meal and giggled before looking up at you and saying "You would make a good daddy mister," as she hands you something before leaving with the big daddy.

Gained 5 Adam.

Soon after John Doe exits the cranny and stares at you in shock.

"What the fuck are you and how the hell did you do that?"

"Guess she can tell I'm a Dad," you say shrugging it off.

"...You better hope the Big Daddy program doesn't find out about you. Otherwise, you would no doubt be one of their favorite experimental subjects," John Doe warns as he heads off before turning to you. "Actually...I think I have something that would be of great help to you back at my place. Never thought I would find anyone who could actually use it who wasn't a Big Daddy...but I think you actually qualify."

"This better not delay me for too long," you warn as you follow him.

"It won't I have several safe houses stashed all over the place." So you followed him to a seemingly normal office that for some reason had an awful lot of security turrets hooked up to it and vending machines. After typing in the password the door opened up and you both stepped inside.

What shocked you the most upon entering was the presence of a Big Daddy stomping around and several small beds. One of which slept a sleeping little sister. On nearby tables, you could see all kinds of disabled technology, tools, weapons, turrets, and more. Even a Power to the People Machine for weapon upgrades and more strangely a new type of vending machine you never saw before called 'Safety First' which offered...armor?

There was an open safe that was full of money, jewelry, and papers that John Doe was filling before closing and locking it. After that he went to a filing cabinet and placed some papers inside he hid on himself before turning to you and saying "Hold up one sec I gotta figure out where I put the damned thing," after that he disappeared into a nearby room and soon crashing sounds emerged from it.

You took the time to approach the vending machines and soon noticed something was...off about them. Like someone hacked it and then modified them. You also saw a closet that was seemingly converted into an armory. Ammo boxes were piled inside along with a number of weapons were displayed on it.

Soon John Doe emerged dragging behind a heavy chest and said "Found it! Never thought I would ever actually find a use for this thing."

"After seeing this...safe house of yours I can't help but have a lot of questions," you say waving your hand at all the strange things in here.

"Yeah well what can I say I like being prepared, now just give me a moment to crack this thing open, you wouldn't believe where I found it," says John Doe as he starts to fiddle with it. "When Prototype big daddies were being made and the equipment for them had to be made. Well, a lot of the 'stuff' they were developing got thrown to the side over repurposing diving suits and other tools. Much cheaper that way." Finally, the chest opened and before your very eyes, you saw a strange contraption.

John Doe picks up the strange contraption and hands it over to you. "Say hello to Big Biogun. Designed to absorb plasmids and shoot them."

"...It looks like something between a vacuum cleaner and flamethrower," you say picking up the complex weapon.

"Eh well, Alpha Series was the only Big Daddies still capable of using plasmids and given how their primary enemy is Splicers. The idea was to solve both problems. Only there was a major flaw in its development. See acquiring ammo for it is a real bitch. You gotta have a Little Sister to help you out or buy plasmids to fuel it with ain't cheap. Actual ammo for it is quite rare. Its why I never used it but for some reason Big Daddies and Little Sisters like you. They are rather protective of their Adam...but you don't need Adam to fuel this baby. Just the leftovers from Little Sisters."

"...Why is there a large air container, tubes connected to needles, and shit on it?" You can't help but ask seeing how weird a contraption it is.
>>
"Oh that stuff...well they also thought to use it to harvest splicers and then feed it to a little sister. Sorta help the little sisters do their job instead of just protecting them. It was part of a failed campaign to encourage people to assist little sisters instead of trying to kill them. After that failed they thought maybe they could make the Big Daddies more useful than just protection. Of course, we all know how that worked out. So the entire project was largely scrapped except for bioweapon which was made to somewhat salvage the project...but this ain't a shitty bioweapon. This baby here is the real deal. The original awesome package meant for Big Daddies since they were the only ones allowed near the little sisters," explains John Doe looking at the contraption like he just lost his baby.

"Your the only person I think can actually use it. Ever since the Alphas went crazy I didn't think it was possible to find a use for it until now."

>Gained Bio Machine
In combat, it has two uses. One is as a shield/vacuuming that absorbs incoming plasmids. Second is to eject plasmid-like effects without consuming Eve.

Out of combat, it can be used to harvest corpses that can be then offered up to a little sister. Such a 'mixture' is only of any value to little sisters who are the only ones who can process it for Adam.

"About those vending machines, I also see a research machine and is that Safety First Machine? I thought a functioning one is nearly impossible to find these days," you ask John Doe.

"Research Machines if you provide them with research materials can provide you with breakthroughs and as for Safety First Machines unlike the Power to the People Machines they specialize in defense instead of offense. Given how everyone fears for their safety well they get bought out VERY quickly. As for the Vending Machines... let's just say I stolen a few and modified them inside my Safe Houses."

"Modified them for what lower prices?"

"Nope refunds baby refunds, also stealing their money," snickers John Doe. "I used to be one of the people in charge of restocking them. Drove me crazy that people couldn't just sell things back to them. Would have made my life so much easier."

"Now before you head back out there to the train station your gonna want some proper protection. So grab a gun and armor vest," says John Doe as he starts reading through some papers. "Oh before I forget I got safe houses all over this damned city and if you find any special tech or papers I'll pay for Adam for them at any of them. Just push that button over there to get in touch with me," says John Doe. "and good luck out there. You will need it."

You grab a combat rifle looks like it was made for WW2 but its still in serviceable enough condition. A good thing gave the current situation with security breaking down and splicers everywhere. Question is how long can you keep your humanity before you too have to start splicing for the sake of survival? Grabbing the rifle you took it to the Power to the People Machine and squeezed out an upgrade. Choosing the scope option to increase accuracy and make easier to snipe from far away.

Next, you grabbed the armor vest and walked over to the Safety First Machine where you placed the armor vest within the slot and turned the lever. A short time later the armor vest popped out and was clearly upgraded. Now it was even tougher on the outside and oddly soft on the inside. You then put it on under your clothing to conceal the fact you wore armor.

"Alphas you know the first prototype Big Daddy that actually somewhat worked? Only ones that could use plasmids too. Not too many of them around these days. Given how they go crazy if their bonded little sisters are killed. I still know of one personally number 8. Don't know where the hell they found the test subject to create that one but its a killing fucking machine. Had to be to keep his little sister safe...watch out for that one though. It's much smarter and deadlier than your typical big daddy." Warns John Doe has he starts pinning papers and pictures up on a board.

"Come to think of it I think the two of you would get along splendidly," he mutters under his breath. "Anyway these days watch for the surviving Alphas while they are slowly getting phased out. Those who survived this long did so for a good reason."

"What's so special about number 8 then?" you ask trying to figure out why he's so different from his fellow killing machines.

"Look it's kinda tough to explain. He's kinda like the Big Granddaddy of Big Daddies. Fucker was practically the one who invented the term 'big daddy' and made them a regular thing. Rumors say they used the biggest, meanest, toughest, craziest, strongest, fastest, and deadliest son of a bitch they could find to make him. The result is Test Subject number 8. Probably going to be the last functional Alpha in existence. Unfortunately for me he likes to wander with his little sister in my neck of the woods and places where there are a ton of splicers. If you see an Alpha series inside one of my safe houses...watch out if the sleeping little sister is redhead. That's his and that's him."

"...Wait a second do you have some kind...'alliance' with number 8?" You ask shocked then again why does he have a big daddy and sleeping little sister in this safe house?

"Alliance is pushing it," snorts John Doe before pointing out the big daddy and sleeping little sister. "I have an arrangement with people who abhor enslaving little girls and I offer them shelter. I'm a not a good guy but...damn even I gotta draw the line somewhere."

"As for number 8...it was never official. He just appreciated the safe houses. One day I found him and his little sister inside. After realizing I was the one who created it he didn't kill me and I let him crash there ever since. He REALLY doesn't like leaving his little sister alone. Which why he avoids ever going back to the little sister HQ as much as possible. The safe houses basically provide a safe place for his little sister to sleep and to patch himself up. So no we don't exactly get along."

"...And those two here?" You squeeze him for more info.

"I uh...fuck its tough to explain. You know those plasmids that let you fool a big daddy into thinking you're a little sister? With some tinkering, I figured out how to make them stand guard. As for the sleeping little sister...that was entirely by accident. Apparently, Little Sisters don't wanna have to run all the way home just to take a nap and with a big daddy standing guard...well that's why I put more than 1 bed down. Tended to find mine occupied by a little sister and guarded by a big daddy."

"Hah, you're not such a bad guy, after all, John Doe. I think I finally figured out why you helped me out so much."

"Bah don't let the door hit your bitch ass on the way out."

After that, you left the refuge of the safe house after grabbing a camera. After examining the Research Machine...if only you had a video recorder. Leaving the safe house behind who knows how long it will be before you encounter another refuge like one of John Doe's Safe Houses and you headed towards the closest train station.

It was not a safe walk. Several times you ran into splicers and killed them. So far there were 3 groups of thuggish and 1 time you encounter splicers armed with pistols. All of them attacked you for seemingly no reason. Finally, at the train station, you encountered some semblance of order. Albeit one created by a bunch of turrets and flying robots keeping the splicers in line. There were some station workers there performing repairs on the train and trying to keep order. Only a few very uneasy security guards were present who were clearly spliced quite heavily and uneasily watched the crowd.

You were the exception among all the splicers and made you feel uneasy. While making the splicers view you suspiciously as yet another intercome message explained that the trains were running late. Looking at the workers though they seem to be about finished and after approaching the ticketer you bought a train ticket.

Approaching the guards it is.

The guards who were trying hard to keep the crowd from turning violent soon noticed the one person in the entire place who wasn't spliced. Approach them with one of them speaking up.

"Who the fuck is this guy...the only person ere who ain't spliced. That is mighty suspicious," proclaims a paranoid spliced cop.

"Oh shut up Perry, the ONE person here who ISN'T a threat is the one you get paranoid about?" Shouts another spliced cop who apparently is in charge. "Now is there anything like a misplaced gentleman such as yourself needs?" He asks paying more attention to the nearby splicer crowd then you.

"As a matter of fact, there is, you wouldn't happen to have seen these two?" You ask pulling out a photo from your wallet to show them.

"Hm...I think we would have noticed someone like that around you. People like you stick out big time down here," explains a spliced guard who shakes his head no much to your disappointment.

"Well, you know how to get to a guy in charge of security near the Forge called Welks?"

"Welks as in THEE fucking Welks? Fuck that guy has balls of steel," says one of the spliced guards. "Yeah we all know about Welks. He's the motherfucker keeping all the spliced workers working and the place safe enough to keep running. Definitely, one of the people in rapture you don't wanna get on the bad side of. Not many security guys who can handle the Deeps these days. With how Spliced up everyone became down there."

"Welks though...he's a very dangerous man," says the Officer in charge finally paying some serious attention to you. "Ryan and formerly Fontaine now Atlas both know better than to interfere with Wilks. They both want Rapture and Wilks is one of the people keeping Rapture running. It helps that Wilks is based in an area that not even those two dare to overextend their forces too. Wilks gets paid a lot of money to ensure Rapture's supplies keep coming in from the Deeps. He runs one of the only security crews still operational in the Deeps."

Over the question of containers. You have one container which stores blood that can be offered to little sisters. Attached to the bio machine it is a tank which stores plasmid energy. Next to the tank is a smaller fuel tank which can be replaced. It uses bioweapon fuel and plasmids. Yes, you can inject a plasmid into the tank and shoot it out. Attached to the bio-machine is some needles and hoses of which the only use you figured out was harvesting. However John Doe mentioned that the bio machine was planned to be able to inject and store gene tonics/more beneficial plasmids to be used somehow. From spraying it out onto something or perhaps to be injected into someone...like a big daddy. Giving them the ability to use plasmids and otherwise enhance them.

He doesn't actually know if those other capabilities are still functional or not. Much less usable on a normal human and modified big daddy.

"Oh good so I finally get a fucking lead," you sigh with relief. "Any idea of how to reach him?"

"Take the train to Depth Station 9 then follow the signs to the security office, but I really can't recommend you go...even your typical splicer is a deadman in the Deeps. They have been splicing the heaviest and for the longest time. They aren't something even us security guys can readily take on. Hence why only the badasses like Wilks stay down there."

"FOR ATLAS!" Suddenly screams a Splicer from the crowd as he flings far bombs at the spliced cops. That was signal. Suddenly splicers in the crowd charged at the security guards and the guards themselves opened fire. Even shooting out plasmids and the next thing you knew. A huge brawl broke out.

With you right in the middle...and you can see the train is preparing to pull away. As the train operator desperately starts trying to get out of there. Between you and the train is one huge battle.

What do?
>pull out a wrench swing your way out
>Pull out a gun to shoot your way out
>Try to sneak through the fighting
>Run away to find another way there
>Other?

Help the security guys put down the problematic splicers by any means necessary.

We gotta come back through here, best make sure its safe for us to do so. We can catch the next train (hopefully).
