Yesterday, Pool Night with the boys went better than expected, with a few surprises too! But today is Sunday, and you promised to go with Nariko to the museum; which museum? Why? You don’t know, but you will find out soon! At this moment you’re preparing to leave, but Amelia and Nariko surprised you with… Nariko in a cute summer dress! Amelia is waiting for a response, but Nariko wants none of it as she seems too embarrassed to wear this dress to begin with.

“C’mon Johnny, you have to say something! We didn’t work half an hour for nothing!” Amelia is enjoying herself, displaying her hard work to you with the smuggest expression possible.
“…” Nariko is still blushing, now hiding behind her hat covering her face.

You feel this is some type of misunderstanding, but do you really want to clear up the air and destroy everyone’s fun? Well, that’s up to you… Hell, maybe you could be jumping to conclusions here, and no one is thinking this is a date.

How do you respond?

>“You would look way cuter without the beanie, you know?” She has to go all out if she wants to pull off that dress!
>“Amelia, let Nariko wear what she wants…” Scold your sister, your hobo girl is not a toy!
>“Let’s get moving then.” Just don’t say anything and act like this is normal.
>“This is not a date.” No more misunderstandings! Be upfront about this! You have a secret girlfriend to care about!

Votes:

Votes are counted until 20 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.

Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 10 minutes have passed.

Dice Mechanic:

I use the average (the mean) of the 3 best rolls and success will be determined by the difficulty I specify for the action or prompt. If there are less than 3 rolls I’ll do the math with the ones I have.
Above 50 is a success on a normal roll. Above 60 is a success on a hard roll. The hardest rolls I won’t specify because I find it more fun if I don’t.
We will roll after the voting is done.

“Amelia, let Nariko wear what she wants…” You scold your little sister like a good big brother should. Nariko is not a toy.
“B-b-b-but she said she wanted to make you happy! And I know how much you like a girl in a dress!” Amelia refuses, stuttering.
“But look at her, she looks so uncomfortable.” You point to Nariko, who's so blinded by her embarrassment she didn’t hear a thing.
“Fine… I’m sorry, give us a few more minutes.” Amelia seems utterly deflated after this exchange. You have no idea what she had in mind – but dampening Nariko’s excitement is not the way to continue. She takes Nariko to her room, probably to change her clothes. After a few minutes the two of them are back, and Nariko isn’t wearing fancy clothes, though she looks more composed than normal.

“Better?”
“Yup!” Nariko nods back, a small smile on her face again.
“I’m sorry for ruining the mood…” Amelia feels responsible for something that never had a future to begin with.
“No need to be sad. I’m happy, today will be fun. I just know it!” Nariko tells Amelia whose gloomy face slowly disappears too.
“So… which museum are we going?” She saw a documentary, so maybe an archeology one? You never cared too much for this sort of thing, but you might learn useful stuff for later, so you're caring now.
“Oh, right. This one.” Amelia passes you a pamphlet. “The Museum of Fine Arts of Pokyo Lokyo! It’s in the northern district, you know, where everything cool is.”
“Are you sure this is the one?” You want to make sure Nariko is going to enjoy herself. Doesn't matter if you do or not though, it's all the same isn't it?
“Yes!” Nariko replies instead of Amelia.
“Nariko, remember what I told you. If you get lost, use the phone I gave you to call Johnny. The only two numbers in there are mine and his.” Amelia puts a hand on Nariko's shoulder and reminds Nariko, in an almost Uccelli-like voice. This ain’t a school trip, and you aren’t that irresponsible, but you keep silent anyway. “Now, have fun the two of you!” Amelia smiles as she waves you two off.

And off you go, towards the museum! She’s walking very close to you. Nariko seems to be more eloquent than ever before, so maybe having a decent conversation with her is actually doable! You have some questions in mind, but which one should you ask?

>“Why the Museum of Fine Arts?” Was she an art student or something before her mind wipe? Could be something there outside of sudden interest…
>“You seem more expressive than before, what gives?” Maybe she's glad to be out of the house for one reason or another? A bit of fresh air does you good, too.
>“What’s in the exhibition at the museum?” Get her hyped and talking more. She knows more than you do about this stuff, and you still want to have a nice time.

“What’s in the exhibition at the museum?” Getting her hyped and talking more might help her mood. She knows more than you do about this stuff, and you still want to have a nice time at this place.
“N A K A’s exhibition… I saw the documentary biography of him on TV, he uses objects’ shadows to create scenes on walls… They say it was better seeing it live.” Nariko explains calmly. “I forgot the name of the other one, but he’s a foreign painter who does very ugly scribbles when he goes to a secluded state of his own mind… Those don’t look any good. I don’t know why they show them on TV.”
“Sounds… kinda bad.” None of the two pick your interest at all! At least the one with the shadows might look cool…
“I’m happy anyway, N A K A's one is the real attraction.” Nariko tenderly smiles.

After the trip is done, you arrive at the Museum of Fine Arts of Pokyo Lokyo! It’s bigger and fancier than you expected, with many stories of old projects on the walls and the history of how the place was built. To your surprise and your wallet's joy, the exhibitions are completely free! There is a section for national artists; one part of you doesn’t really want to go to that part of the parlor – but it isn’t like the other two sound that amazing.

“So what do you want to see first?” You ask the sparkling hobo at your side.
“National parlor…” She replies in a mesmerized voice, eyes wide.
“Any reason in particular?” You just want to continue the conversation, looking around.
“We leave the best for last.” Nariko replies fiercely. That’s the type of phrase you think she heard from TV.
When you walked in here, you expected art that actually looks fine… but you have been bamboozled! Everything here sucks, or maybe you’re just a brute that doesn’t get it. Either way, not even Nariko seems to enjoy the pieces for their artistic values! At least she’s having fun with you, and that's what counts doesn't it?

“Hey, this one here looks fine.” It’s portrait of someone in a surreal type of world surrounded by flames. You can appreciate the technique, a welcome break from the boring styles you've seen so far. Philonune is awake now too, having been so bored by all of this that he fell asleep, despite not even requiring sleep in the first place! He silently takes in the portrait, eyes narrowing at looking at the flames around the central figure, but not saying anything. He's silent a lot of the time, probably busy watching for suspicious people or taking in human culture and society.
“…” Nariko seems hypnotized by it.
“Nariko?” You wonder if she lost her marbles again.
“…"

You check the painting once again and a little detail caught your interest this time. The author's name is ‘Chio Edamura’. Wait, that's Nariko's last name! A relative?
>>
>>2356806

What do you say?

>“You saw this one before, right?” Try to go around the issue for a bit.
>“Is Chio a relative of yours?" Straight to the point.
>“I like the flames. Makes the whole thing more surreal." Act clueless.

“You saw this one before, right?” You try to go around the issue.
“Yes…” Nariko replies without tearing her eyes off the painting. “But I don’t remember it like this…” Nariko’s eyes go a little white, didn’t this happen when she tried to reach the memories she no longer has?
“Take it easy…” You put a hand on Nariko's shoulder and snap her back to reality; she shakes her head and continues admiring the art piece like before. Since you’re kind of curious, you decided to read the information plaque near the picture:

>‘Displaying the inside and outside of a person, the duality of a fragile sickly human. The person who requested this portrait ended up rejecting it, maybe people aren’t keen to see themselves for what they truly are?’

Woah, this is really pretentious… you have the feeling they are completely misinterpreting the real meaning with that BS story! But wait, why are you getting mad? You’re making conjectures! The plaque also gives the date; according to that, it was made ten years ago, and donated to the museum four years ago.

“It says its some type of portrait.”
“That cannot be true!” Nariko replies, uncharacteristically annoyed and indignant at the notion. “She never accepted those requests!”
“She? You mean Chio Edamura? Do you know her?” You say, trying to act oblivious to the issue.
“…Yes.” Nariko replies, a little too quickly. “I saw this one when it was being painted. It was cold. Drearily cold…” She trails off.

Suddenly, an old office man appears next to you. He looks tired of dealing with people, but inexplicably wants to small talk. There are some other people in this part of the exhibit with you, but the place is not nearly full… Maybe he’s lonely? Anyway, he’s being obnoxious right now.

“Nice piece. I like the technique.” He says blandly as he examines the portrait. “I would buy if it wasn’t terrifying… and if it was for sale.” He smiles at his weak joke.
“It’s nice…” You start replying, but he quickly interrupts you.
“Sorry for interrupting, I just needed to say something to someone that looks sane around this dump… Thanks, lovebirds.” He left as fast as he bothered you two. You know he doesn’t know Nariko, but that statement should be wrong! Well that was strange overall.

“…” Nariko is still staring at the painting, but tears are going down her cheeks. “My mother painted this.” Her eyes go fully white, but she was able to remember something!
“Woah, you remembered something! Are you okay?” She seems dizzy, so you hold her shoulders.
“I’m… fine.” Maybe physically, but her face says something completely different. “Let’s continue, okay?” She trots away, slower this time. You see her wipe the tears from her face, almost absentmindedly, as if just noticing now that they were there.

“Nariko wait, take it easy… There is a bench there, we can sit.” You tell your emotional hobo in a calm voice.
“But…” Nariko doesn’t want to get emotional. But she is.
“The exhibition isn’t going anywhere. I’ll buy you something to drink too. Be patient and relax, okay?”
“Alright…” You and Nariko go to the bench you pointed at, then you make sure she’s fine before taking a hike to a nearby store, and buying two cans of soda.

In the meantime, you also called Amelia and informed her about what happened. Amelia seems delightfully shocked – she even believes that you may not need to find her flame if things keep developing at this pace. You shut down the idea hard very quickly, as you have no idea if Nariko has every part of her memories yet, and forcing the issue might damage her. Amelia, while not amused, understood what you meant. You’re now back at the museum where Nariko is.

“Feeling better?” You hand her a can of Orange Rage. You hear it's all the rage, but you never liked it too much.
“…mhm.” She nods, still lost in thought.
“Ready to keep going?” Two more exhibitions to go!
“Yes.” She tries to smile, but she does some kind of frown instead… Almost made you laugh. Almost.

And the scribble section was, in reality, abstract expressionism! Which is just ugly scribbles and nonsensical stuff to your eye. It’s surreal art, so you aren’t supposed to get it, right? Anyway, the moment you started making fun of them, Nariko started to have a blast, cheering up like she should have from the beginning. Feels weird seeing her genuinely laughing like this, but it's nice. Some people are visibly annoyed by the two of you, but you don’t care. Fuck em!

Time to end the day on the highest note: leaving N A K A’s exhibition for last!
Nariko’s mood comes back to the morning one, and she can’t wait to see it all! But your nose smells danger, and by your nose you mean Philonune!

“Johnny, look ahead, right there! It's the slow one with the imaging device, and the arrogant one with the guilty past!" He seems more excited than usual at this – probably glad to have something break the boredom.

You turn and look to where Philonune is looking. To the hall with N A K A’s exhibition there are two entrances. In one is Bradford, the fatso from your team, taking pictures of nearby pieces of art! And in the other is Terry, talking to one of the guides of the museum! Both entrances are blocked, in a sense! Unless you’re willing to deal with them, maybe you should think twice on how to approach this…
>>
>>2357412

Well, it’s not like both of them are assholes, or anything. What do you do?

>Go to Entrance A! You will deal with Bradford; he'll have to meet Nariko sooner or later, right? Maybe having him here might help with understanding some of this art.
>Go to Entrance B! You will deal with Terry; he’s a chill guy and will probably leave you alone, right? Maybe he'll act nice to Nariko. It's not like she's Scarlet or anything.
>Wait them out and buy Nariko an Ice cream in the meantime. You have all day to enjoy the exhibition, might as well use that time to your advantage!
>Wait them out and try experimenting with Philonune while looking at the art pieces. Color is just light reflected off of objects into the eyes. What if you can do something with that…?

You really don’t want to deal with either of them, and why should you? It’s not like they're going to know, besides talking to either could make Nariko feel uncomfortable and it’s her day today! Maybe you could experiment with Philonune looking at the art pieces; you take your ghastly companion and put him on your glasses…

“What’s wrong?” Nariko wonders as you stop mid-walk and move her aside to go back to the previous room.
“Ehm… There are people I know that I really don’t want to talk to right now.” You’re being awfully honest for some reason.
“I see… When did your glasses change?” Nariko noticed your change in appearance, maybe making it sunglasses mode is ill-advised… Well, if you want it to do it stealthily anyway.
“I’m just testing something, that's all…” You adjust your glasses and look back at the rest of the paintings in the hall.

“Did you detect something wrong, Johnny?” Philonune asks while being in your glasses. "I have not spotted anyone acting particularly suspicious or overtly secretive. You humans create some nice displays, I'll give you that. In fact, some of the ones two rooms prior remind me a little of home…" You try to remember what that room was about, definitely a lot of abstract imagery in that one. Just how different is the demon world from yours…?

“No, nothing wrong really.” You watch the place around you, spotting a stereotypical fruit bowl painting near you, perfect for a test. You try to filter out one color because it seems the easiest, and decide on blue because they do something similar in those detective shows, when they try to find blood in crime scene with one of those funny looking goggles… Or was the blue the color you shouldn’t filter?
Either way, you try to concentrate on the blueberries in the bowl, and focus on imagining they don't exist. And suddenly all the paintings become fully matte black, while everything else around you becomes tinted blue. You feel like you messed up somewhere.
“Are you feeling okay? Your glasses weren't blue before.” Bluer Nariko seems worried. Her hair is still black, but all her clothes end up being in shades of blue.
“Eh, yeah I am.” Maybe you are looking like a weirdo. Well, not too many conclusions you can take out of this, other than whatever you did made you Philonune-shades go the same color as everything else. You feel like you're slowly getting somewhere though…

“Are people you know gone now?” Nariko doesn’t want to wait any longer!
“Let's go check.” You quickly pull Philonune out of your glasses, and everything goes back to the way it was before, though you have to blink a few times.

The two of your peek in the hall you left before, and see not a trace of either the overweight photographer or your relaxed pal.
“It’s clear.” You say to Nariko, who seems delighted. “Let’s get in there.”

You get to N A K A’s exhibition, and Nariko wasn’t lying! Most of the pieces look like pieces of crap! But their reflection tells a whole different story.

“Look, that one is a motorcycle!” Nariko seems excited, jumping in place. “And that one is like a dragon! And… I don’t know what that is…” Nariko seems perplexed by the one in the middle, the one of two people… well… It’s kind of lewd.
“Yeah, that one's kinda hard to read.” High-five, brain.
“What do you mean?” She’s too pure for this.
“That I don’t get that one either.” You shrug and move on, trying not to think about Uccelli right now.
After the most interesting of all exhibitions, Nariko is exuberant! You’re no art expert, but at least that was fun! Nariko’s morale is at an all-time high; the highest since you gave her the first meal ever! No tears of happiness, though. Just a chill totally non-romantic date with a street hobo…

What else can you do now?

Well, today is Nariko’s day! She should decide, right?

“So what do you want to do next?” You ask your jubilant hobo.
“Next…?” Nariko closes her eyes and starts concentrating! She never planned for this to happen, but wants to make sure she can take full advantage of the current situation! “No… We shouldn’t go there, not yet." She says in her usual monotone, but avoids looking at you as she says this.
“Going where?”
“No… It’s not important. Let’s get Amelia her present and go home.”
“It’s your special day, I know you have something in mind.” Spit it out, Nariko! You’re busy man! You can’t do this all the time!
“Then… Can we go to the homeless shelter? I want to tell the nice lady there that I’m fine.” Nariko says all serious.
“Sorry Nariko, anything but that. You’re currently ‘missing’, remember? If they find you there, you can’t keep living with me anymore.” You could find a way to relay the message somehow. “I’ll find a way to tell her another time, is that fine with you?”
“Yes!” She smiles. “What I really want now is… for you to prepare something nice for lunch.” She drools a little from the side of her mouth, eyes spacing out.
“Nariko, you’re drooling…”
“S-s-sorry!” Nariko cleans her mouth.
“It’s okay…” You feel like this has happened before, and not just a few times.

Something deep in your gut tells you you dodged a bullet in this visit to the museum – you don’t know why, but the feeling is there. Anyway, you swiftly return home with a radiant Nariko by your side, after taking a short trip to the bookstore near your house and the grocery store:

The old lady at the bookstore asked if Constance enjoyed the book you bought her… You barely remember this weird old lady, but you tell her yes. Then you bought the cooking book she recommended. You made Nariko pick one of the recipes for lunch, and she chose a ‘Kimchi’ as it’s something she's familiar with. You have no idea what that is, but you’re about to find out.
Then you went to grocery store, and discover it coincidentally had every ingredient for this thing. Is this damn store a fine food shop? You remember the desserts being A+ here, and with the variety they have in store, it simply makes no sense! Whatever… You try not to complain when things work in your favor, or things happen to ruin it when you do.

[1/2]
>>
>>2360956

Well the Kimchi seems to be mostly vegetables, so you also made steak to accompany it – because you know from experience that vegetables and steak are a winning combo! Either way, Nariko seems to have greatly enjoyed it, so mission accomplished! Nariko is so incredibly happy, it makes you wonder if she’s a real person or just a puppy who needed attention…

You’re halfway through Nariko Day…! And from the looks of it, she seems already satisfied with what you've done. So what’s next?

>Ask questions to Nariko regarding her memories! Back there you saw the flame being reignited, so this is a prime opportunity to get answers!

You have really never paid attention to what Nariko watches on TV, aside from those documentaries, and maybe the drama show… and maybe those music videos! Let’s do what no other parent doe these days, and police the content she’s watching; maybe guiding her is going to get you results you have never expected before!

“Thanks Johnny, for everything.” She stares at you tenderly with a contagious smile; it was only food Nariko, don’t exaggerate.
“So what now? You’re going to watch TV?” You play dumb, since you have an objective in mind.
“That is what I always do.” Nariko nods. She likes the little tomb you've created for her, truly you have spoiled her.
“I’ll watch it with you.” You go to the couch, and Nariko sits next to you. She stares at you and hands you the remote. “Go ahead, I’m fine with whatever. Act like I’m not even here…” Let Project Nariko commence!
“But it’s more fun when I know you’re here.” Nariko replies, what a sweetheart. She takes the remote anyway, and you two drown in the beautiful ocean of entertainment named free TV.

After 3 painful hours of commercials with TV shows on the side, you have completely understood what Nariko does the whole day… She gets randomly hooked in shows that are about to end, movies in the climax, and documentaries that are about subjects nobody cares about! Who cares about the damage plastic does to humans?! Point is, you understand why her brain is literally fried the fuck out; she never understood what goes on in any of the shows she watched… aside from a random drama you kind of liked that she seems to follow regularly.

“…” Nariko looks uncomfortable despite the drool on her face, because she knows her selection bored you out of your mind, but she doesn’t know what to do. She's now staring at you… begging for help inside! You have to do something! But beware, you may not like what your suggestion will cause!

>Find her more dramas! Out of all the absolute trash she watches, she seems to like those the most!
>Find her fashion shows or artsy bullshit! She enjoyed the museum, she could enjoy those, right?
>Find her manly shows like martial arts movies, war ones, and the stuff YOU like! Show her the path to becoming a badass!
>Find her cartoons; not for babies, a little more grown up – she's still developing, and those were made for people who are developing like kids!
>Find her a cooking show! She loves the food you make, now she can learn exactly how to make herself amazing food instead!
>Just leave the news on; Nariko could inform you about everything that is happening without you wasting your time.
>Maybe she shouldn't watch TV… Giving her a book to read should work wonders! Maybe one of your school textbooks will work to keep her occupied?

From the painful experience you just had, you can tell what she enjoys the most are dramas, even though you think cartoons could be healthier – you want to make sure she’s happy… You will have to skim through the channel guide and find her the best ones, no point in feeding her straight garbage!

“I’ll find you good shows to watch, Nariko. Don’t worry, I think you'll like them.” You say with as much conviction as you can.
“Anything is fine really…” Nariko replies, leaning back on the couch.
“I think I have a good grasp of what you like.” You know she’s trying to please you, but the one doing the pleasing will be you…! This sounds really bad out of context.
“Mhm.” Nariko seems moderately excited. You put up a rerun of the good drama you saw before, and leave to make dinner…

As you cook to the best of your abilities, Philonune uncharacteristically starts a conversation with you! Like what the rest of day is, it’s centered around Nariko…

“Do you think she will willingly surrender her partner, once she recovers her memories?” Philonune asks with concern. After all, Nariko’s flame is supposed to be white, an agent of the Creator.
“Why the question?” You keep cutting the vegetables as you talk.
“I want to make sure you’re going to do the right thing when the time comes. I know you’re attached to her as she is, but she could turn out to be much more dangerous than we suspected. Maybe there is a good reason for her memories to be removed, and for her to be this docile.”
“It’s not like we’re doing that much progress in that department. And what, you're saying she deserves to stay this way?"
“I’m simply reminding you. I always trust your judgment – we’re essentially the same, after all. But you humans have the myth of a certain woman and her box, don't you? There are reasons those so-called 'myths' exist, Johnny. Mankind had to have learned them from someplace, that's all I'll say."
Philonune ends the conversation as quickly as he started it. You don’t really know what's going to happen, but you have to do your best for everyone – no matter what happens.

After eating the final meal of the day, Nariko seems so tired… Maybe she needs to exercise more or something. Before leaving to bed early, she thanked you for making her day special with a smile on her face, one that you couldn't help but return.

Before you call it quits, you received a phone call from Uccelli! You wonder what Nina wants.

“JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooohny!” A girl's voice comes out. It's not your girlfriend’s, and she sounds ridiculously drunk.
“Eh?” You’re too confused to respond coherently.
“You’re lean n’ muscular, right? You must be quite the stud…” She’s slurring a bit, you never heard this voice before…

How do you respond?

>“That’s not the ONLY good thing about me.” Adjust your glasses even though no one can see you. Because it's the thought that counts!
>“I think so…?” You can’t respond properly to someone like this at a time like this.

“That’s not the only good thing about me.” You adjust your glasses even though no one can see you. It’s the thought that counts.
“So you’re flirting with me… I KNEW IT, ALL MEN ARE PIGS! YOU’RE DISGUSTING! PLAYING WITH NINA’S HEART, YOU PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT!” Uh-oh, this is not the reaction you were expecting! And it was just a joke!
“It was joke, lady.” You reply with your serious voice to no avail, while she continues raging at you! Honestly, you don’t know why you’re taking it when you could simply hang up.

“Carmella, what are you doing?!” You hear between the screams and swears.
“SAVING YOU, YOU ASS!” The drunk voice replies. So she’s Uccelli’s friend…
“IS THAT MY PHONE?!”
“IT’S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD, YOU MORON! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!” The drunk voice snipes back at Uccelli.
“NO, IT’S NOT! GIVE IT BACK!”
“I HAVE TO TAKE THE INITIATIVE! YOU NEVER ASK FOR HELP! YOU'RE TOO PURE TO KNOW BETTER!”
“P-PURE? I DON’T NEED HELP FOR THIS, GIVE IT BACK IN THIS INSTANT!”
You hear them both struggling, fighting for the phone. It’s kind of hilarious in a sad way… Eventually, Uccelli appears to have won.

“Now think about what you just did!” Uccelli yells, her voice still far from the phone. “Wait, you didn’t hang up?! Do you have ANY idea how much money you're wasting me?!”
“S-s-shut the fuck up! I – BLAAaaAAaargh…!” Did Carmella just throw up?
“Oh no, not this again...” Uccelli puts the phone near her. “I’m sorry; I’m going to have call you later.”
“It’s okay?” You have no idea what to say. Usually you're unfazed by the shit that happens to you, but not this. Not like this.
“J-J-Johnny?!” Uccelli must be quite embarrassed, she never realized what was happening at its full extent.
“Don’t worry about me, but I’m glad to know you’re bragging about me.” Feels good man.
“I-I-I-I… I’ll talk to you later, I’m so sorry!” Uccelli hangs up as her voice appears to crack…
Well, that was something. You aren't suicidal enough to risk calling back. Maybe you should do it tomorrow, time for a good night's sleep in the eclipse of Nariko Day!

It’s a beautiful Monday morning, the 22nd… We’re getting close to confrontation day. Well, time for you to hurry up and prepare everything for the day ahead of you! You leave Nariko with your new instructions, and you can trust her to follow them as she has been doing the house chores without a fault.

You forgot to check your phone earlier, so what better moment than while on the train? You got 4 missed calls from Uccelli and multiple long paragraphs of text in Chat-Now – explaining what you deduced from yesterday’s incident… A drunken Carmella called you and since she has been really sensitive since her boyfriend dumped her, she tried to ‘protect’ Uccelli. She just made everything awkward… Half of the text is Uccelli apologizing profusely and you feel a bit bad. It was so long, you’re already are at school. You don’t have classes with Uccelli today, what bad timing…

You’ll catch up with her later, right?

>Send text, you’re going to catch up with her after school.
>Send text, tell her everything is fine. A minor incident needs a minor resolution.
>Send text, she needs to do more than that if she really wants you to forgive her… Maybe you could be a little mischievous about this. Who knows what you could get?
>Don’t do anything! You want to see how things can escalate if you don’t say anything.

Well… A minor incident needs a minor resolution, right? You send a text to Nina telling her she doesn’t need to worry about anything at all, and you thought it was so minor you went immediately to sleep after it because you were tired. It’s the truth, isn’t it? She immediately responds saying thanking you and apologizing yet again – at least she should relax now.

You get inside your classroom and you catch a glimpse of Scarlet and her friend’s conversation… What was her name again? Nia? Anyway, Scarlet is not wearing as much make up as before – she still looks fine, but less flashy.

“C’mon you need to amp it up again!” Nia tells Scarlet. “We aren’t little girls anymore, that look won’t do it!”
“I don’t care, I like this and I think I can pull it off.” Scarlet replies, stubborn.
“Of course you can pull it off, you’re beautiful – but I don’t know if that’s going to work with real men.” Nia Sambou objects.
“I’m a positive girl; I know the right one is going to love it. It’s not a big deal anyway, Sammi.” Scarlet decision is final.
“Whatever… But we’re going shopping later, right?”
“Yeah!” Scarlet giggles, and she immediately you. “Hey Johnny!” She smiles and gets a little redder.
“I’m glad you’re doing fine now.” You respond, that talk with her worked wonders!
“Hehe, thanks.” Her bubbly personality that she’s known for is in full effect.

“She looks better now, right?” Terry appears out of nowhere. “Deep inside she always was a little girl.” Terry laughs.
“Dumbass.” Scarlet replies without hesitation.
“I don’t know no little girl with this type of body, derp face.” ‘Sammy’ replies to Terry’s provocation. Derp face? Really? In this day and age?
“It was a joke, I guess I’m not the best at sarcastic humor… But really, does she look better to you?” Terry now brings you down with him for no reason. He’s becoming a little more aggressive lately…

But well, he did ask a question.

>“She does look a lot better than before." She looks a lot more mature and sure of herself, definitely from your talk. More power to her!
>“I don’t want to influence her decision. Scarlet knows what's best for herself.” Remain impartial. You have a girlfriend already, and you already talked with Scarlet about what she needs to do to better herself. You have nothing else to say.
>“I don’t know, it’s weird… I’m not used to it.” Say 'no' in the most convoluted way possible.
>“Hey, don’t throw me to the wolves like that, Terry…” Try to act a little embarrassed about it, but still refuse to answer. Scarlet already knows what's up, you don't need to say any more.

“I don’t want to influence her decision. Scarlet knows what’s best for herself.” You decided to remain impartial.
“I know you're enjoying the view anyway!” Scarlet jokes.
“You still need to figure out the weight part of the problem now.”
“…” Scarlet stares daggers at Terry. If looks could kill, Terry would be on the floor.
“How rude, how can you call a girl fat to her face?” Sammy says with an angry tone.
“So you call her fat behind her back?” Terry snarks back, smirking.
“I… Ehm… Uhh…” Sammy is looking everywhere for help, but Scarlet now has her eyes fixed on her.
"You should watch what you do before you talk shit about other people, Sammy." Terry turns and saunters over back to his seat, leaving behind a paralyzed Sammy and a fierce-looking Scarlet.

“C’mon students, go to your seats – today’s lesson is about to begin.” Mr. Conti saves Sammy from what could have possibly been eternal damnation.
After the mundane boredom of some classes pass, it’s lunch break time!

“Hey Johnny, want to eat together?” Scarlet appears with her lunch box ready.
“Hey Scarlet! We promised to eat with the girls, c’mon!” Sammy quickly bombs Scarlet’s plan.
“Aww… Maybe another time, bye.” She leaves, a little sad.

As soon as they leave the room, someone unexpected makes an appearance!

“Johnny, I want lunch. Do you have food to spare?” Matilda walks straight up to you and immediately gets to the point.
“Ehm… I just brought my portion.” She didn’t tell you on time, how are you supposed to know?!
“We had a deal, you know?” Matilda doesn’t seem that pleased.
“Then where's Nariko’s partner?” You raise an eyebrow.
“…Shit.” Matilda, weren’t you a professional? “At least buy me today’s lunch, I’ll get the information ready in less than a week, promise.” She bows to you, and a few people turn to stare.

How do you respond?

>“Buy your own lunch.” She would never do that for you, right? Why do it for her?
>“Okay, that’s what friends are for anyway.” Be kind, like she was… that one time… that you totally remember. Yeah.

“Okay, that’s what friends are for anyway.” You respond to Matilda. “But before that what’s the magic word?” Time for a little tease!
“Do you really want me to say it…?” Matilda asks all serious… like always.
“I think it’s the least you can do. I mean, it’s not going to cost you a thing, is it?” It's not going to cost her a thing, except her pride!
“Then… THANKS MISTER JOHNNY ANDO FOR THE FUTURE MEAL!” She now bows on the floor, making a big scene. Some of the remaining classmates in the room look at you confused, and some of the girls with disgust. Why are they looking you like that? It wasn’t your idea! Oh wait, it was.
“T-that wasn’t what I had in mind at all! Besides I said word, not words. You were supposed to say please!” Is this girl for real?
“Oh… I’m sorry.” Matilda casually replies in monotone, with not one ounce of embarrassment on her face. Guess you’re really the only one of the two who cared.

The two of you left to the cafeteria, and you bought Matilda's lunch after a few minutes of waiting in line.

“Now, can you tell me what happened to your lunch in the first place?"
“I was cutting expenses.” Matilda dryly replies, like it’s the most normal thing in the world to willingly go hungry.
“You cut lunch from your expenses…?”
“I was banking that my business partner would back me up.” She smirks at you, knowing exactly what she's doing.

While trying to find a seat and trying to respond to Matilda, you found a large crowd near one of the tables… What’s up with the commotion?

“Not even one of our guys can take him!” One of the kids around the crowd yells out.
“He's beaten the very best of the best of our school! Holy shit, he’s really invincible!” The kid next to him cries out. What are these two, NPCs? Why are they talking like that?
“He was the most infamous kid at Red Tulip, but he finally got expelled!"
“I can’t imagine what he did to get kicked out of a place like that! Maybe he killed someone.”
“If he did, why did the school accept him here?! Didn’t he stir up shit here that one time?”
“Isn’t he really good at sports? That was the whole reason they even tolerated him so much back at Tulip’s!”

“…” You have a bad feeling about this.
“Want to take a look?” Matilda asks, curiosity getting the best of her.
“If you want to…” You can always reheat your lunch. Microwaves are a thing.

You and Matilda go through the crowd and finally take a peek at what’s inside… Arm Wrestling!
And the unbeatable one is… Trent Figg! The fuck is he doing here?
“C’mon you little green pansies, someone's gotta be strong enough to last a single fucking second!” Trent laughs maniacally, completely in the zone.

What do you do?

>“Yo Trent!” Say hi! He’s like an… accomplice of sorts. That’s almost like a friend! Besides, he looks like he's in a good mood, busy showing off like that.

“Yo Trent.” You walk up and say hi, because you’re polite.
“So this is Trent Figg.” Matilda says calmly, watching Trent with a calculating gaze.
“FINALLY a real man shows up! Care for a little competition?” He shoots you a friendly grin, and kicks the chair in front of him lightly as he does so.
“Eh… I haven’t eaten yet, maybe another day.” You show him your lunch, still full and uneaten.
“Shame, shame, shame, SHAME! My blood is boiling for a decent challenge, and you go tease me like that? What a waste, man…” Trent sighs and batters the table a bit with his fists. He's still excited, but you can tell from his demeanor and slight posture change that he really did feel genuinely sad at your refusal, at least a little.
“So what exactly happened? Why'd you changed schools?"
“Time is money, and money right now is beating plebs and making myself a hero! Don't worry man, I’ll talk to you after school.” Trent casually waves you off and turns back to the crowd, begging for a challenge. “C’mon, anyone?!” A poor fool appears and accepts the challenge, to the cheers of the crowd and a welcome smirk from Trent. He gestures at the chair across from him, and leans back in his seat as if saying 'be my fucking guest, buddy.'

“Hey, Johnny.” Matilda pokes your shoulder and points at the back of the hall. Mr. Conti and your science teacher seem to be… betting?! Is this the reason nobody has stopped this madness? Wait, someone's talking to Conti… It’s Henry! The once masked man now part of your team, though to be honest you barely know him yet.
“What are they doing over there?"
“Let’s go eavesdrop.” Matilda says as she’s already making her move. You follow her, because why not?

You sit close to the strange trio and focus on eating your lunch while keeping a cursory watch. Matilda is paying full attention; maybe she likes the spectacle or has another hidden motive for her behavior.
“—And that’s what's happening. If he ever goes violent I’ll interfere… but I wanna know, you’re in detention again, right?” Mr. Conti asks Henry.
“Yeah. So what?” Henry doesn’t seem to be in a good mood.
“You know I have an eye for talent, and I was wondering if you could do me a small favor.” Mr. Conti’s smile hides bad intentions.
“W-what kinda favor?” Henry's confused.
“Beat that big kid over there, and make yourself a hero.” Mr. Conti says, smiling.
“Why me?” Henry doesn’t seem to want to.
“Isn’t it obvious? I saw you before, kid; I know you have a fighting spirit. But Mr. Rodenhall here thinks otherwise… And we wanna settle this little dispute. There will be a price in it for you, make no mistake.”
“What price?” That got Henry's attention!

“I’ll take off your detention. I only need to have a little chat with Uccelli, and everything will be golden… Only if you win, though, okay?” That ain’t Mr. Conti anymore, that’s Dirty Rob!
Henry starts rubbing the ear he has his flame on, pondering his options – he finally nods and accepts the challenge.

“What a fucking idiot.” Matilda says in her dispassionate monotone. Hey, she ate her lunch already!
“Why's that?”
“You know her, don't you? She’s not going to let Henry go. Mr. Conti lied through his teeth.” Matilda shrugs, seems like she has dealt with Uccelli numerous times too. “Ready for the main event yet?”
“I haven’t finished eating my lunch, Matilda.”
“That can wait, let’s go.” Matilda drags your ass and your lunchbox to witness the fight! Fuck it, you might as well eat while watching.

Henry sits in front of Trent, who was waiting for a new challenger.

“Heyyyy, if it isn't Mr. Hero of Justice himself! Want another round of kicks to the gut?” Trent already goes in with the trash talk.
“How did you know…?” Henry is taken aback, he didn’t expect this revelation!
“Bah, you think I’m fuckin' stupid? It’s easy to put two and two together… Hey, Johnny – ready to enjoy the show? Tell me if this fucko is cheating or not, 'kay? I don’t want no ghost shit here.” Trent points at you… It seems you’re part of this mess too.
“Johnny? Boss? What?! Oh right, you go here too…” Henry is a little slow, isn’t he? And since when are you the boss? You have to admit, you kind of like it, though.
“Trent, not a word about that anymore – okay?” You tell the brute as you pull you chair closer.
“You have my word.” He gives you a quick salute, and turns to put his arm on the table, ready for the round.

“This is going to be my revenge for what you did to me.” Henry grabs Trent’s arm.
“Took the words right outta my mouth, mucha lucha!” Trent starts laughing.

And… it was very anticlimactic. Henry lost in four seconds.

“S-shit.” Henry holds his arm, eyes wide.
“Gotta give it to ya, you lasted more than anyone else here.” Trent’s streak continues. “Still pathetic though."
“Tch… Whatever…” Henry is not pleased and leaves in disgrace, Trent waving him goodbye as he goes. Seems like Matilda was silently taking mental notes. She has a big plan that you don’t know of, and maybe at some point you should ask her about it.

And with that, the bell rang… You went back to classes with half of your lunchbox uneaten.

Classes are finished! They were not enjoyable in the slightest, but that’s school life. After saying goodbye to your friends, you left the classroom… Trent was waiting outside.

“Yo.” Trent says, waving at you.
“What’s up?” Oh no…
“I told ya we were going to talk after classes. Let’s chat at the gate, I need some fresh air.”
“Let’s make it quick, okay? I have stuff to do.”
“That’s how I like to do things.” You know, in another context that would be awful, Trent.

At the gate, you two start chatting.

“So what happened? Why'd you get expelled?” This conversation already feels uncomfortable, but you're dealing.
“They kicked me out because I stole the school flag. That’s what finally crossed the line for ‘em.” Trent seems calmer than usual.
“Don’t tell me that flag from the other day…” It totally was.
“…” Trent, your silence is condemning you.
“…” You stare right back at him.
“Yeah yeah, that was it…” He finally admits it!
“You’re a dumbass.” You couldn’t contain yourself. Once you let it slip your mouth, you decided to accept it.
“What?!”
“It’s the truth, dude.” You’re playing with fire; your level 3 courage is barely keeping you up with the situation.
Trent sighs, relenting. Either you're really lucky, or you're finally getting used to dealing with Trent right. Probably both!
“Now I’m under probation, and one of the teachers here is lookin’ at me… Shit, what was her name again…?” Wait, does that mean that…?
“Is her name Ucce—” You cut yourself off, because something catches your eye. Something that ain’t going to be pretty to deal with… again.

From afar, talking to another group of students it’s Rise…
“Seriously guys, you don’t know him? Glasses, kinda tall, scruffy type of hair that points every which way – smells nice? I know he studies at Green Foothill… I think. My memory is pretty fuzzy lately!” Rise grins, not caring how creepy she looks.
“Maybe he’s going to Red Tulip? It’s basically the same school, but in another part of the city.” One of them says blandly.
“Naaah, he should be around here… I bought him a souvenir, so if you ever find him – tell me!” Rise replies to the group of students as she goes to the next group to ask more questions.

“Hey man, what’s wrong?” Trent nudges your shoulder, and looks at you in almost concern, eyebrow raised. “Weren’t you gonna say something?”

Well time to pull off those stealth skills you have, because if you don’t, things might start to get uglier… At least next week you will have to! Thanks for Playing!

Thanks everyone for playing, hope you guys enjoyed it! Nariko Day was supposed to be more fun than this, I didn’t find my groove this week at writing… Just being very slow overall. Sadly no cool pic this week either, at this point you guys should be getting used to it and I apologize for that. Next week they should be back to stay again!
