Greetings and welcome to another chapter of the Twilight of the Jedi. Now unfortunately the last thread was not archived so I will sum up the events here:

We arrive to Mandalore and are given a summons by the lady of House Vizsla: Sabine Wren. Avoiding the usual attention your return makes you explain to your companions a bit of Mandalorian Culture. Arriving at the clan compound a keen eye reveals that the Mandalorian Protectors, the closest thing the Mandalorian people had to a standing army, were present and force meaning only one thing: Mandalore the Reformer; Better known as your Fathers enemy: Boba Fett.

It turns out that while you yourself are preparing your budding team of crack rebel commando’s the First Order is interested in hiring Mandalorians for future training of their troopers and so the Great Houses have put together a mock battle to see which house would secure the contract. And so in a private dinner with the matriarch of your House and the elected ruler of all Mandalore you are given a task: Help House Vizsla secure the contract so those sent to train may also spy on the Order and ensure Mandalorian Sovereignty is secured.

...Got it? Good; Lets begin.

As dawn breaks in the distance you watch as the beams of light glitter off the habitation domes that surrounded the city. While you knew the rest of your group was still fast asleep you had risen early, the nerves of coming combat twisting your stomach into knots. It was an uncomfortable sensation but one that you had become used to in the years you had spent as a mercenary. It was the proverbial calm of the storm; The primal excitement and terror of the future conflict you knew was before you.

By The Force you didn’t ask for this.

Donning your armor you can already hear the other homes and complexes around the one Lady Sabine had been kind enough to lend you bustling as no doubt the men and women began their own rituals for the coming battle. The only question now was if you would drag Rey and Corran into the fight. If the Imperials were going to be there one was perhaps enemy #1 for killing Snoke and the other was a Force sensitive kid who would pop up on the radar if what you had experienced at Dogah Station were a sign of what was to come:

Dark Jedi.

>What do you decide to do?
>A. Take Both, hell or high water.
>B. Take Rey, even if she was a star in The Force she was a competent fighter all the same.
>C. Take Corran, He was smaller in the force and at least you could teach him a thing or two
>D. Take Neither, you can’t risk them.

Hmm i wonder if we can use this as a oportuniry to help Rey get less...detectable on the force. I mean if she fails, only think she would need to worry is facing the first order or having it bring its army down on Mandalore.

So no pressure.

Let's see if we can train Rey to hide herself better this time.
>>
So quick update: I don’t know how many posts I’ll be able to do because I’m in the huge snow storm/fuck storm in the north east U.S; however I’ll do what I can.
>>
>>2353524
Thanks Weaver. Just make sure to hug Weaverette really hard so she can warm you up during this storm.
>>
>>2353069

No.

You weren’t going to simply set them aside because you were afraid of a Dark Jedi or the First Order. They needed to learn and there was no better place to learn than on the front line. With that in mind you make the short walk across the hall and bang on the door to the twin bedroom of your charges.

“Get up you two! We’ve got thirty minutes to eat and it’s a long flight to the Btel wastes.” You inform them, making your way into the small attached kitchen.

It was nothing spectacular, but then again Mandalorian architecture wasn’t about being luxurious. Setting a pan on the stove you just manage to turn it on when there’s a knock at your door. Cursing quietly you step away and open the door to a very surprising guest: Lady Sabine herself, clad in the sculpted grey and yellow armor of House Wren.

“My Lady.” You say, bowing slightly and stepping aside to let her enter.

She chuckles as she obliges, however as she steps in you see that there is a flat, four foot repulsor sled with a pair of containers atop it.

“I brought a gift, I figured your Ade could use something that makes them stand out less.” She insists, parking the sled next to the kitchen table as you return to cooking the quick breakfast for your now four occupants.

>What do you do?
>A. Ask what’s in the containers
>B. Ask her to cut the Kriff, what is she doing there.
>C. Say nothing, just work on making breakfast for now.
>D.Other.

Actually, Rey has the look of a strong sort, I would be more worried about Corran.
>>

>>
>>2353835

>>
>>2353840
Use a Ligthsaber crustal and make Rey have us as a jewelry. Is she harmonise herself with her crystal she could easily mask her presence in the force.

Although she would need to meditate and atune herself with it. Something that it might take to long for her to do.
>>
>>2353840
What pun? And what's yaksalami juice?

On an unrelated note: Weaver, you should totally make Uncle Ben in Web-Weaver the DC Punisher.

“Oh? And just who do you think I’d need to hide them from? Some stuck up First Order officer?” You ask, quickly cracking a trio of Nuna eggs into the pan and quickly scrambling them.

“I don’t know, all I know about the staff that will be coming is that there’s some pretty big ego’s behind it so who knows. Could be just about anyone.” She answers and you can hear the scowl of displeasure in her voice.

Plating the massive amount of scrambled eggs you finally look at the boxes and you feel the matriarchs amusement in the Force and turn to her.

“What’s in the boxes?” You ask.

“Like I said, a few things to help you keep you guys undercover.” She says, though the tone puts you on edge.

Walking up to the crates you crack the first one open and you almost choke the matriarch with The Force itself. You knew this armor before you even pulled reddish and orange armor the matriarch had been famous for wearing during the Galactic Civil War. Was this her idea of a joke or was this her idea of discretion.

“You have to be kidding me.” You mutter out, checking to see that sure enough a smaller suit of durasteel beskar’gam in a hue of yellow more traditional to house Wren.

“She looks about my size when I was around her age and if her chest is just as impressive then-”

“Save it Sabine!” You exclaim, cutting her off before she can finish to the sound of her laughter.

“There is one last thing.” She says, handing you a small, forearm sized box.

>Do you humor her?
>A. Certainly, she is your matriarch.
>B. No, no more jokes.

>>

Oh no; She quite literally just was like "She has the same physique as me so this works" while simultaneously half-assing the 'hide rey' thing.

Keep in mind she's the one who is being toted as the 'woman who killed the Supreme Leader' it's hard to NOT know her.

Taking it into your hands you slide the small lid off of it and you confirm that sure enough she is joking with you. There is a hilt, similar to those you would expect to find on a vibroblade or other sort of weapon. However this was no ordinary hilt, and just like the armor Sabine had gifted you it was a relic; This relic however was far older, and far more sacred both to the Mandalorian people, but the Jedi as well.

The Darksaber.

“Okay now you’re joking with me, Sabine. This isn’t something you just give to someone for a battle.” You insist, however the stern look on her face says otherwise.

“The others are a bit of a good joke, but this? No I mean this.” She insists, pressing the box further into your hands.

“And just why would you give me this? The physical embodiment of House Vizsla, the symbol of your ascension to Mand’alore of all things.” You question.

“Because you have that air about you; The air of a Jedi Knight.” She snaps back almost immediately.

You freeze.

“I put that life behind me when I took up the code, Sabine.” You insist, however she walks up to you, reaching for your hip and pulling the lightsaber hilt from it.

With a press of the activation switch you hear the ‘snap-hiss’ the black-white blade manifests for a moment before she deactivates it and presses it back to your hip.

“I may be old but I know a lightsaber when I’ve seen one.” She says with a smirk.

“That still doesn’t answer the question.” You return.

“It is your inheritance, as both a Jedi and a Mandalorian.”

>Do you accept it?

Wrapping your hands around the thinner hilt you pull it from its case, examining it from every angle before slowly sliding it on your other hip.

“You know I’m returning this once this is over. You found it, for all intents and purposes it is yours.” You warn, muttering curses under your breath as you return to making the rest of your breakfast.

“As you wish, however you aren’t denying it; Your Jedi heritage.” She returns, and again you feel your temper start to flare.

“My upbringing maybe but that isn’t me, Sabine. Not anymore at least.” You return.

“But the girl...if what they say is true then she needs a mentor and-”

“I know.”

That at least makes her stop.

You knew she meant well, and compared to most of Mandalorian society she was outspoken and eccentric. She had spent her youth beside jedi from what she had told you, and so it was understandable that she did not understand that the wide-eyed and noble Jedi were as much a danger to the galaxy as they were the protectors. Let her think you would teach Rey like a jedi, it would at least keep her from losing her mind...for now.

It is another five minutes before Rey exits the room, followed close behind by Corran. Both seem more than happy to dig into the mountain of eggs and toast you already had out, you yourself having already taken your portion.

“They’ve grown up so fast, Dax; Who'd've thought you’d be such a good parent.” Sabine teases and you sigh.

“Well dear, you are the one that got them their gifts; Maybe you should show them.” You give back with a sarcastic quip.

This thankfully sets the duo off on the matriarch and leaves you enough time to finish eating and...:
>A. Head back to the Dawntreader and get her ready for the short flight.
>B. Work on some training for your charges, maybe to hide in the force.
>C. Get what information you can about the coming battle.

Wait i just realized something...doesn't giving someone a mando armor is the same like accepting or adopting the person into the clan?
>>
>>2355814
Not quite. There's a ritual to it, a confirmation from the adopting parent to the child. If that doesn't happen it's more a gift.
>>
>>2355829
Still gifting someone, specialy a stranger the matriarch armor. Well whatever it's not like everyone will know about it and the people who know will just keep it to themselfs.

At least Rey is one step from having a real family
>>
>>2355842
That is implying that Sabine is going to let her keep it.

Watching the duo dig into their morning meal, you sit back and realize that there was at least some time to hopefully mitigate your biggest worry: Their Force signatures. While Rey was well aware of her abilities, the younger Corran you had not yet told. After all you already saw the ego that Rey had about being ‘the Last Jedi’ and you would not subject yourself to any more of that.

“Alright we have a long and very stressful future ahead of us, so consider this your first major lesson. When you’re getting for a battle, you’ll usually get some nerves. Usually it's because your body is subconsciously preparing for the danger. I get ‘em, you’ll get ‘em; Everyone gets ‘em. But there are ways to help and I’d be a shitty mentor if I didn’t do something to assist you out here.” You start, lying straight through your teeth.

You had to teach them to hide themselves in the Force, knowingly or not.

You manage to walk them through a meditation, replacing ‘the Force’ with their nerves you instruct them to make that feeling small and sure enough after a minute or two they begin to shrink in The Force, with Rey far more within a ‘realistic’ level and Corran was almost indistinguishable from Sabine.

You had to admit you were eternally impressed with how quickly they picked up things, even when you were younger you were never this quick a learner.

“Alright Dax enough of whatever you’re doing we’ve got to get ready and they’re going to have to armor up..” Sabine inists, slapping you gently on the shoulder.

“You heard the lady, get your crates and get suited up. We’ll get going for the Btel Wastes and you’re gonna regret it if you don’t have it on.” You instruct, getting a nod from the pair of them before each take their respective boxes and carry them back towards the two rooms you had used to change.

“So, what exactly are we looking at?” You ask the Matriarch as they leave.

“Well, House Vel holds the decision to weather attack or hold the position since they hold the contract. The only problem is we have not been told which they have chosen.” She responds and you feel your face already curling into a frown.

“And just how did Mand’alore not tell us what that MAJOR part of the plan would be?”

“Because it was up to the council of clans, and they only chose during our dinner last evening in an emergency meeting.”

“...They didn’t inform the head of the clan? That’s-”

“Suspicious, yes. It doesn’t help that the First Order review panel has been arriving since three in the morning and camping near the wastes.” She adds.

>What do you think?
>A. Could it be that there are clans in House Vel aligning with the First Order?

You had a bad feeling about this.

If it was just going to be a First Order review board they wouldn’t be bothered to set up a camp. If they were camping it meant there was a military presence of some kind and that was bizzare for a competition between outside forces. Though there were bigger concerns and so you voice this fact.

“We can worry about whatever they’re up to once we’ve secured the contract. That’s why you called me in isn’t it?” You point out, and she nods.

“Yes, but what i’m telling you is to be careful Dax. You might be able to solve problems with a blaster and a vibroblade but not everything can be solved that way. Especially with the First Order spreading across the Galaxy.” Sabine insists and you nod.

There is a silences that settles between you after that, waiting only for your charges to suit up. Once they do it is evident that the pre-battle shakes are getting to everyone and so without a word you all move for the repulsor craft that is awaiting you all. Focusing in The Force you touch on Rey’s mind and feel that sure enough she is nervous, something that a ‘true’ jedi wouldn’t be.

It makes you smirk, if only slightly.

You aren’t sure what your master had seen in the girl, she was emotional and jittery and standoffish and it reminded you of what Kylo had been in his youth. It would take time to fix the behaviors but for now you had more pressing issues; For in the distance you could see the camp Sabine had been describing before.

A series of Prefab domes are in a circle and as you get closer you can see the stark difference between dark grey concrete, white plasteel and the black of officers uniforms. But something is wrong, they aren’t stormtroopers; At least not the ones you were used to.

You felt an equal parts hatred and disgust.

While the plasteel was still the blank white as any other stormtrooper, however it was the styling that you knew all too well. While there were certainly bits and pieces missing from the original you yourself were wearing, but sure enough it is a striking similarity to the Mando mirshir beskar'gam (Mandalorian Shock Armor) that you wore.

Was this a Joke?

Touching down at the makeshift House Vizsla camp you see that there are plenty of other Mandalorians milling about and glaring at the Imperial camp across the way. Many are making threats on the Order and their mockery of your culture, and through The Force could feel the tension.

“Why are they so angry?” Rey asks, her voice muffled by the voice modulator built into the armor.

“It’s like if they gave Stormtroopers lightsabers, how would you feel?” You ask in return. And sure enough you feel her become conflicted.

Whatever the plan was you knew that if those damned copies were in the coming fight they’d be enemy #1, regardless of the trial.

You see Sabine peel away to what must have been the impromptu commander's tent and so you are left with your two companions and a few minutes to:
