We learned of the various tribes that await conquering and got cockslapped in the soul by Vall himself>Stats and Gear incoming.

A once great God of Battle lies broken, his armor and proud flesh rent and ruined. A blade, forged in ancient ages past lays shattered, sundered into uncountable fragments. A man plants his foot upon the titans chest and roars triumph, armies scattering to the winds as great beasts of war descend upon them, howling warriors charging, shrieking like demons. And nations burned. The vision fadesA great city, carved into the face of a lonely mountain. Its lofty walls of white stone blackened by soot and stained by blood. Towers and siege beasts beset the defenders but they repel the assault, arrows falling like rain. The great warrior, slayer of kings, ender of nations, watches his sons fall. The ruinous blade is unsheathed and the warlord takes to the battlefield. And the mountain itself bleeds. The vision fades.Armor as black as the deepest night sky. Eyes that burn like the coals of hell. The warrior towers over the lesser men he strides through, dealing death contemptously to the bronze armored warriors. He levels his gaze upon a man who could dare to challenge his might, an honor guard of nine hundred and ninety nine. This pretender, this *fool* who would call himself a god. The ancient warlord levels his blade and howls his fury. The fury that broke the wings of the storm drake. The fury that shattered the will of the giants. The fury that scorched the lands bare and left nations dead behind him.Vall roared. And the gods trembled. You awake, sweat rolling from your body as Mylea and Ysolde watch you carefully, Keera crouching against the far wall. Mylea dabs at your forehead with a cool cloth and pats your hair, concern etched on her face. Ysolde places her hand on your chest, feeling your pounding heartbeat, her face tight with worry."Are you okay?"She asks"You were tossing and turning, talking in your sleep and we couldn't wake you"Ysolde says, rubbing her hand across your chest gentlyMylea sniffles, the pleasant girl unused to worry"I was about to go get Duergir or Shalla! We thought you had a fever!"Keera swallows, looking at you carefully"Are... Are you alright Magnus? You threw me off of you like I was trying to kill you..">"just a nightmare. What plans he has in store I do not know, but I believe that he has been sending me glimpses of his fell deeds and great conquests. The storm drake, the giant king, and now a slain war god i have seen rent and crushed beneath the heel of Vall. It seems he wishes to reveal his greatest victories to me." Shake your head and get up. "Nothing to be concerned about at least for now, but I'm destined for greatness you know? Crushing and driving all before me and all that." Then Chortle Mightily.
>>2351223this >>2351249but like clean it up
>>2351242What the fuck are you talking about Anon? Vall is basically a mix between grimnir and khorne and he wants us to follow in his footsteps. He already gave us a rune that boosted our stats and we'll get even more in the future with his help. Also that ruinous sword from the last vision got mentioned again and while vall killed himself I'd wager that his weapon did not go to the afterlife with him. A weapon capable of killing war gods in the flesh is nothing to scoff at and I say we try to find the tomb or cairn of vall.
>>2351254Okay how about thisMagnus looks thoughful before saying "Vall has been sending me dreams last couple a days. All kinds of visions of battle and whatnot. don't know what it means but Duergir said he chose me to follow his path in life." Smile and chortle mightily. "Didn't you know by now I got a great destiny in front of me?" then get up and start our day.
>>2351262Definitely a gay. We should kill his spirit and take all the marks by force.
You sit up, Ysolde and Mylea moving aside as you swing your legs off of the bed and hold your head in your hands, the visions of sheer, raw, MIGHT, swirling back for a moment. You shake your head and extend your hand to Keera, the already darkening bruises on her upper arm shaming you."Im sorry Keera. I didnt mean to hurt you... That was... A BAD dream"Keera tentatively accepts your offered hand, letting herself be pulled onto your lap. Mylea gently traces a finger down the gruesome scar crossing your forehead, cheek and chest."Was it about.. *this*?"She asks nervouslyYou chuckle, shaking your head at the three girls handling of the subject."No my dear. It was worse. Do you see this?"You place a finger on the black rune on your upper chest"This is a rune of power. A gift directly from Vall, the greatest of our ancestors.."Ysolde blinks, looking at you carefully"Vall? Vall the Destroyer? But hes been dead for... Well for thousands of years!"You grin as Mylea and Keera both nod affirmative, obviously having been told different stories than you."Yes my dear, Vall the Conqueror, The 'Destroyer', the Butcher of Kings and Slayer of Gods. He gifted me this rune and a tiny portion of his strength"The response from all three girls is immediate and simultaneous"But why?"You shrug massiveky and stand, pulling on your clothes to disappointed looks from your women"Fuck if I know. Maybe he sees something in me. Maybe he has a plan for me. Maybe hes bored. All i know is, he spoke to me, touched this time and now ive been having some *REALLY* wired dreams"You leave the conversation at that, bidding your women good day as you step outside, pulling your shirt over your head. You decide that its been far too long since you went for a hunt. The mountains and valleys around the crag are home to numerous creatures, many of them very good eating. While there are dangerous beasts you are more than capable of taking them on.>Who take (up to 3)>Arvel>Wren>Urhost>Falhim>Torbos>Pek
>>2351411Do any of our companions have any specialties when hunting?I would expect Wren and Pek are good trackers and obviously archers, but what do Falhim, Torbos, Urhost, and Arvel bring to the hunting table beyond their considerable martial skills?
>>2351424Urhost and Arvel are strong as hell and good hunters while not the best archers. Falhim and Torbos are just your buddies and would probably wanna go.
>>2351411>Arvel>Wren>FalhimSeems like a good mix hunter/archer/buddy
>>2351411>Wren>Arvel>FalhimI have been following since day 1 and hoenstly forgot who some of these characters are.... would you consider a pastebin maybe, qm?
>>2351473I can outline the characters we met for you anon hopefuly QM will patebin the characters so we can keep track of them.Falhim and Torbos: Raiders that accompanied us during the first thread when we ambushed the moon knights high in the mountains. They are our long time friends since we joined the crag wolves. Then we met Shalla: a crag wolf herbalist and healer that we seem to have a pleasent friendship with. She is single. Duergir: The crag wolves shaman who is a mentor of sorts and is our guy for runes and rituals as well as advice about spirits. Barbas: The crag wolf warmaster who trains the young men and boys to be warriors, he also shares a mentor like relationship with us by giving us special moves and combat techniques.Wren and Urhost: Two veteran raider and fellow crag wolf clansmen who went raiding with us as our left and right hands. Urhost is a big warrior and Wren is a archer/scout.Throth: Our chieften and the undisputed leader of the Crag wolves, we report to him on important news. He seems to approve of us and holds us in high regard.Hemmik: The son of Barbas and the best smith in the crag he handles weapon and armor upgrades. He is partially crippled due to an injury in childhood by his father and due to this they are not on speaking terms.(Cont.)

>>2351473Ive got a Google doc I can drop for you guys once I updoot it.
Mylea Ysolde and Keera: Our thralls and concubines who we took when we raided the villages earlier. Mylea and Ysolde are from Rhya's hill and are the daughter of a farmer and tavern owner respectively. They are both warming up to you. Keera is a pretty thief from moonbend we took out of three candidate women, she is shy but is also warming up nicely.Bur Lun: A huge ass giant we befriended when we raided the villages. Seems like a chill guy and will be a strong ally in the future.Elohim's family: I cant remember their names but we took the family of an old legion veteran from Rhya's hill. We gave the son to barbas to be a warrior. The boy is strangely okay with everything that has happened. The daughter we gifted to Shalla so she can learn to be a healer. The mother we have not yet gifted or sold.Arvel 'Giantson': A huge warrior we knocked out in an impressive critical hit in a brawl after we sacked moonbend. We shook his hand and became buddies and caroused with him and Urhost all night. Seems like a swell guy.Vall: The biggest baddest motherfucker in history, He was is an ancestor spirit of unbelievable power and is more or less on the top of the afterlife totem pole. He has taken in interest in us and is sending visions of his great deeds and has also given us a shred of his power. The squire: can't remember his name but he is the son of a moonlord who was squired to a darkmoon paladin we rekt and has been given to barbas for training. He is acclimating well and being assimilated. Won't be long before he becomes another crag wolf and raids and kills moon lords for fun.Amazon lady and Moon acolyte lady: Two possible thralls we could have taken in Moonbend. We don't know what happened to them, but they may come up later.
Deciding that hunting alone is a bad idea even for men such as you, you decide to seek out some backup. Arvel is found in the Pits, thrashing a pair of young warriors in an early morning sparring contest. You wait until he finishes spinning one of the young men over head before approaching. Your offer of a hunt brings a smile to his sweaty face and after retrieving his shirt and rifling through his opponents pockets he joins you.Wren is teaching a group of young boys and girls archery. The quiet scout master keeps his scars with a cloth mask over the lower half of his face. The children dont seem to mind and work hard to earn the eagle eyed mans approval. After the lesson he approaches, giving you a pleasant nod. His eyebrows crinkle from a unmistakable smile as he accepts your offer of a hunt, jogging off to grab his hunting bow.Falhim, you like awake with a finger, looming over the hungover raider like a gargoyle. He wakes with a start and After some brief curses he agrees to join you, staggering off for a spear and his pack.Arvel leans against a a rock and gestures at your lack of equipment"You gonna go strangle the beasties?"You laugh to yourself and turn to one of the storage caves where weapons and spare armor are stored.>Grab 2. You don't get your regular weapons for hunting trips because who hunts with a Warhammer? Not you that's who. If you specifically go after monsters (trolls, Wyrms, ogres, etc) THEN you get your weapons. You have your dagger and your throwing axes.>Hunting spear. Long reach and easy to handle. Can be thrown if you're strong. Which you are.>Boar Spear-Heavy, thick shafted with a blade the size of a dagger and a wide crossguard.>Net and line- a seriously strong rawhide net and braided cord can subdue large creatures.>Javelins. Short, light throwing spears. Don't put your eye out kid.>Hunting bow. What it sounds like. Go play giant Legolas. Comes with a quiver of 12 arrows.>other (write in)

>Boar Spear and netYou quickly snag a sturdy boar spear, it's wicked double edged blade and thick crossguard will come in handy. On a whim, you grab a large rawhide net and line, just in case you want to bring something back alive. You grab a large pack, stuffing it with some dried meat and fruit, a bedroll and some flint, a large waterskin and shoulder it, hooking the net to your belt and using the spear as a walking stick.Your hunting party awaits you, Wren leaning on a long, slim bow that looks backed with some kind of horn. Falhim has his spear over his shoulder and a pack on his back stuffed with essentials while Arvel simply has a thick quiver of javelins and a hatchet through his belt. Falhim looks at your net with a raised eyebrow and laughs"Planning on going fishing Magnus?"You chuckle, punching him in the shoulder with slightly more force than necessary and plant your spear in the ground."In case I see a beast I want to break harder than I do to you in the Pits"Arvel and Wren both laugh as the scout master unfurls a map etched onto a roll of hide. Various beasts and their territories are scrawled on it in dark ink. Wren looks to you, his brows raised curiously"So Magnus. What are we hunting?">Something useful (mounts, beast of war, utility beasts, etc)>Something dangerous (Predatory mounts, War beasts, attack dogs)>Something Big (Mammoth, Stone Breakers, Giant Bears, etc)>Something tasty (just a regular animal.)

You grin viciously, looking over the predators and dangerous beasts listed on the map Wren had carefully constructed over years of ranging."Something with a bit of fight"Arvel laughs, clapping you on the shoulder"Fuckin'ell Magnus. Going after somethin' wit' some teeth eh? I like your style"Wren and Falhim both shrug, the latter parking slightly and leaning over the map"What did you have in mind Magnus?">Dire Wolves>Varg Beasts>Lesser Wyrms>Great Eagles>Griffins>Trolls>Other

>>2351767I know right and if the those moon fucks think they can hide behind any walls we'll just fly overthem and drop off the top of their castle. If we can capture enough griffins and take them by surprise we can basically have a griffin dragoon unit. We and some elite wariors drop off at a key area (where the lord of the castle is) and quickly duel and decapitate the defenders leadership then do hit and runs whereever we want on out terms. Really really useful.
>Griffins is the overwhelming pick. Deathclaw mode go.You smile grimly, laying your finger square on a single, especially tall mountain."We're going to The Roost and catching some of those Griffins"You declare, turning to point across the range to the mountain, miles away.Wren blinks in shock. Falhim swallows audibly. Arvel is silent for a moment before bursting out into laughter."By Valls COCK I thought you was mad before?! Im in!"He shakes your shoulder, grinning like a loon. Wren and Falhim shake their heads in resignation, giving each other a look before nodding"Alright. Lets go""I guess im in too"Your quarry decided, you set off along the mountain path after wishing women and families goodbye. Arvel runs off to speak with Hemmik and his friends for a moment, a secretive grin on his face as he returns.>Take the route through the mountains (the long way 3-4 days)>Cut through the Valley. >>2351832Concubines for warlords or kings in the past were members of the household who were afforded various rights and protections due to their status as a lover and more importantly as the mothers of children sired by the warlord/king. They were more than pets and more along the lines of family members, but the relationship is inherently based on mutual benefit and respect more so than love. Hell even marriage is based on love but a combination of pragamtism and attraction and respect.

You are content to let the others chatter and joke, your mind wandering through your recent dreams and Duergirs words.Almost before you even realize it, the sun has sank below the horizon, the night chill already enveloping you. Wren leads your hunting party to a sheltered cave under a stream, the interior dry and safe. Arvel kindles a fire while you refill your waterskin, taking a large gulp of the clear, sweet water. The burly warrior curses as the tinder refuses to do more than smoke unhappily. Falhim lays his bedroll out and collapses on it, pulling out a skinning knife and whittling a lump of bone.Wren leans back against the wall of the cave, rubbing some kind of oil onto his scarred, twisted feet. You give Wren a nod, the slim scout pulling a long bladed dagger from his boot."Go get em Wren"With a wink, Wren melts into the brush, there one second and gone the next. Arvel curses quietly in amazement and you can't help but be jealous yourself."Sneaky fucker"Arvel grunts quietly, looking through the brush at the lancers.Falhim starts as a faint rustle in the bushes draws his attention, the leaves shaking ever so slightly. A lancer pushes himself up from the campfire, wandering over to the bush and undoing his breeches. He looks up tiredly just in time to notice the foot of razor sharp steel being rammed through his eyesocket. Wren takes the sagging corpses weight in his arms, pulling the body quickly and quietly into the brush. You smile predatorily as the lancers talk amongst themselves, passing around a canteen of some sort of ale. The wounded lancer groans for aid and one of the men pushes himself upright, wandering over to give the dying man a drink. As he hands the parched cripple the canteen he suddenly squints, looking around carefully."Jeor!? Where the fuck are ya? Ya drunken fuck did ya pass out in yer own piss again?"Walking over to the bush of many uses, he kicks it with a laugh, the cackle dying on his lips as he notices the spatter of blood on the leaves and his comrades boots poking from behind a rock. He turns, drawing his shortsword and taking a deep breath to bellow a warning. And Wren makes his move.Dropping from the tree above the mens campfire, a dagger in each hand he lands lightly, lashing out with his foot he knocks the cinders of the campfire into the eyes of the men, leaping through the spray of flames to drive both daggers into the upper neck of a unlucky lancer. Blood gushes from the mans mouth as his lungs fill with blood, Wren twisting the daggers cruellyTurning his leap into a roll, Wren wrenches his arms forward, flinging the dead man over his head to crash against the trunk of the tree he had leapt from, leaving a spray of gore across the bark. The scout crouches like a cat, daggers held in underhanded grips and waving like angry serpents. He looks at the four men facing him with foul intent and calls out calmly"Magnus? Arvel? Falhim? The lancers turn, stunned, into momentary inaction. Wren seizes the opportunity, lashing out with his curved daggers and laying one of his opponents cheek with a taunting strike.Arvel drives his opponent back, a lanky spearman with a limply drooping moustache. His hatchet carves chunks from the mans shield, his face tight with pain as the wood cracks under the sledgehammer like blows.Falhim lunges forward bravely, his spearhead carving a line through the cloth of a stocky youths tabled, revealing the mail underneath. The young man, little more than a boy really, cries out in fear and rage as he flails back with a small hand axe, Falhim leaping backward with a laugh. You select your target, a young man with the patchy growth of a beard that has been several days without a shave. His half helm sits crookedly on his head, obviously ill fitting. He braces his spear with both hands, tensing as you stop several places away, flinging the hatchet in your hand at him.You arent sure what rabbit is in his ancestry but the man jerks back with reflexes that would make Wren jealous, the axe whistling by his head and thudding into the trunk of a nearby tree. He looks back at it in shock and laughs incredulously to himself, grinning cockily at you"You missed You barbarian FUCK! Now come on! You twirl the hatchet in your hand, eying your foe carefully. You let the noise of the small skirmish fade away, letting your eyes focus on the bead of sweat rolling down the young lancers brow. The world moves in slow motion, the droplet hanging from his brow for an impossibly long moment.Your hand flicks out, blurring fast, the hatchet whistling as it slices the air with a carefully honed edge. Podrik has a moment for his eyes to widen before nearly the whirlwind of death embeds itself directly between his eyes, less than a hairs breadth from the now falling droplet of sweat. The axe sinks up to the shaft, the tip of the blade emerging from the top of his split skull, the bottom jutting out through his cloven nose. Podrik's limbs go slack, his spear dropping from limp fingers as he topples backward, blood and pulped brain spilling from the gruesome wound as he falls with a wet thud. You roll your boar spear across your palm and snort at the boys misplaced bravado"Shoulda worn a better helm kid."Looking around at the now one sided skirmish you decide to...>Help Arvel, hes been hammering that shield to kindling.>Help Falhim. You charge up behind the young Lancer, his upper cheek layed open to the bone and a shallow puncture on his upper arm. He jabs and slashes at Wren with his short spear, his iron rimmed wooden shield protecting from Wrens daggers. The Lancer steps forward, hoping to skewer Wren but yelps in shock as a massive hand grips his shoulder, yanking him backward. Arms as thick as small trees wrap around his chest and upper arms from behind, pinning his shield to his chest. The cry of shock turning into a gasping, choking wheeze as you suddenly squeeze, driving the breathe from the Lancers lungs. You slowly, inexorably tighten your grip bit by bit, your newfound strength coursing through your muscles as you do. Faint creaks and pops issue from the Lancers chest and upper arms, his face taking a purple hue as his eyes and tongue jut from their housing. His legs kick feebly, the metal rim of his shield warping around your arm as the wood cracks and bends. You finally release the poor man, letting him flop to the ground like a rag doll, his legs having lost their strength. His arms go about his chest, cradling his bone-bruised and cracked ribs, gasping for breathe like a landed fish. You look down at him contemptously before giving Wren a shrug and a cocky smile."Looked like you needed some help"You laugh, planting a ironshod boot down on the Lancers back, driving him face first into the ground.Wren shrugs, gesturing to the lancer."What are you gonna do about him?">Knock him out.>Kill him.>Let him regain his feet.>other

Might as well ask him some questions later"Wren nods, his hand dipping to one of the small, curved daggers in his belt. You look down at the young Lancer, his eyes bloodshot and a trail of bloody saliva hanging from his lips. Your ironshod boot cracks across his face and he collapses limply, blood trickling from the split in his cheek. For a moment you feel you had killed him but the faint rise and fall of his chest affirms he is still among the land of the living.Unfortunately for him.Arvel roars in triumph as he finally hammers through his opponents guard, the moustached lancer crying out in pain as the hatchet bites into his arm. He doesn't suffer the wound for long as Arvel's fist comes around, a thick bladed dagger glinting evily as he buries it under the mans jaw. Ripping the dagger free, Arvel finishes his mortally wounded opponent by burying his hatchet in the mans neck, the blade lodging firmly in his spine.Falhim cries out as hid opponent lashes a thin gash into his forearm but presses on undeterred, lunging with his spear he manages to catch the clumsy lancer off guard, the blade piercing his thigh with a wet *snik*. The youth's scream of agony is matched by Falhim's shout of triumph as he lunges again, his spearhead punching into the boys throat and out the other side. Blood fountains high as he rips it free, kicking the dying youth backwards. You stand over the unconscious Lancer, the sun still shining high and hours left in the day. Arvel pants, a bloody grin on his face as he kicks the body of his opponent."A fine fight Magnus! Id have liked a few more'o these little men to kill but eh, can't be choosy can I?"He laughs, spitting on the Lancer and digging through the mans pockets."I say we take their horses, cut that damn cripples throat an' get a move on in case they got some friends about"Wren wipes off his daggers, searching them behind his back and retrieving his boot knife from where he had buried it into the drunken lancers eye."Still time in the day if you want to move Magnus. This is a fine spot to camp if we decide to though. Water, cover, a ready made fire and hell, we have their tents and supplies."Falhim nods, wiping sweat and blood from his face with the back of a shaky hand, grinning madly."First man I ever killed one on one like that. >Push on.Wren pulls a strip of cord from his pockets, binding the unconscious lancers hands behind his back. You grab the bound man like a sack of turnips, slinging him over your shoulder easily."Lets get a move on. Plenty of time left in the day!"You laugh, making your way over to the where the nervously shuffling horses are hobbled. Gesturing with your spear at the wounded man, his sweat slick face tight with pain, you look at Arvel."Handle that will you?"Arvel looks at where you point, nodding with a shrug"Aye Magnus. Better to finish the bugger now"Slinging the limp Lancer over the back of one of the pack horses you can hear the crippled mans weak pleas for mercy abruptly cut off into a wet gurgle. After securing the Lancer to the horse, you quickly walk Arvel and Falhim through how to saddle a horse. Your time in the Warhounds served you well and you quickly manage to teach the inexperienced men how to secure the saddles and mount the more aggreably of the horses. After ensuring they can mount and ride without breaking their own necks, you retrieve your axes before turning to Wren.Wren swings himself easily onto tje back of a dappled brown gelding and takes the reins in one hand, his eyes crinkle up in laughter"Had to teach myself when I was trapped behind a Moonie garrison"He explainsYou chuckle and swing yourself up onto the strongest of the beasts, the horse snorting and looking back at you suspiciously as it adjusts to your weight."Lets ride!"You laugh, urging the horse on.>Roll me 3 1d100 to see if you avoid trouble again

You were wrong. The horse you ride bears your weight agreeably, snorting slightly when you mount or dismount to lead it over rough trails. Arvel and Falhim quickly adjust, handling their mounts with increasing skill, even going so far as to race each other over clear ground. The miles melt away under the plodding endurance of the horses and The Roost quickly appears overhead as the daylight fades. The spire of stone juts into the heavens like the sword of some ancient god, clouds swirling around its summit along with faint, black shadows. The faint, eagle-like shrieks of roosting Griffins reaches your ears. >Push up the mountain. You look up the slope and face of The Roost, picking out paths in the fading daylight. While it may be safer to rest at the base of the peak and push up in the early morning hours, you want to get a jump start on the climb."Lets push up the mountain, get a good start on the climb"Wren nods, clicking his tongue to his horse."There's trails enough until you get almost up to the top. Caves and whatnot where we can rest"Arvel and Falhim groan, their tired horses snorting unhappily, ushering their horses after you as you follow Wren, the keen eyed scout leading the way.The trek up the slopes of the roost is steep, sheer drops over the edges of paths so thin that your feet barely fit upon them. Occasionally, you spot evidence of The Roost monstrous inhabitants. A massive flight feather, an ox skeleton, its bones cracked open for the marrow, a human skeleton, garbed in tattered, rusted mail. You pass the dismembered skeleton with no small amount of concern, the rent armor catching your eye.You make camp in a shallow cave set under a lip of stone, the walls jagged and slightly damp. Arvel and Falhim usher the horses under the lip, hobbling them with loops of rope and watering them from their skins.Wren somehow manages to start a fire from the scattered bits of bone dry branches, probably detritus from Griffin nests.>Speak with Arvel>Speak with Wren>Speak with Falhim>Silent treatment>Other

Theyre too strong and much too vicious. Youd need special gear for that and it would still be dangerous. Our what best would be to wait until the adults are gone hunting and raid the nests, stealing some youngsters, fledglings and eggs. Although if you really, REALLY wanted to go after an adult griffin... I may be able to wound it, and if you and Arvel manage to subdue it, we can bind its wings and beak, hobble it and put a cloth over its eyes... If they are like eagles if we grab an adult its mate will probably be around and will fuck us up and the situation will be the same as the previous.A group of juveniles and eggs will be what we want. Lions obviously form prides or sometimes coalitions (lion groups with more than 1 adult male) that possess some nasty big dick swinging alpha male to chase off other lions as well as other threats. So nature faggotry aside I guessed right and there is some big alpha griffin we need to watch for?

The chicks grow faster than you might think so it wouldn't too long for them to mature"He says, laying out his suggestions for the transport and care of the griffin hatchlings and eggs. The melon sized eggs were apparently incredibly durable, the shells thick and hard as a rock but brittle. The hatchlings, while loud and irritable, could easily be placated by either feeding them or binding their eyes. The juveniles, Wren explains, are the dangerous opposition you will face. Timid while alone they could swarm and overwhelm a man if they attack in a group."We need to be in and out fast though. Very fast. Once one of the mothers hears a hatching shriek, they'll be on us in minutes."You sit, pondering Wren's advice as you watch the bruised Lancer kick weakly at his bonds."And what do you think about him?"You ask Wren, the scout following your gaze."Well... I could question him. Or you could. Find out what the Moonies a are up to. After that... Well assuming he lives, I can cut his throat or..."You raise your eyebrows curiously"Or what?"Wren grins gruesomely, the scar tissue of his cheek stretching"Ive always been a fan of using bait">have Wren question the Lancer.>question the lancer personally.>Fuck what he knows. You grin at Wren, snapping your fingers gets Arvel and Falhim's attention and they follow as as you make your way over to the bound Lancer. You kneel down, pulling your fighting dagger from your belt and pressing the razor sharp tip to his nose, drawing a bead of blood."Listen close and you might last the night with both balls and all your fingers. You refuse to answer or I feel like your lying to me, I hurt you. Simple as that. Hmmm. Okay so with an 89 we should get answer to all questions we want. I wonder how much of a shitstorm we created when we wasted those 2 villages? I get the feeling that if we start raiding again we'll be seeing more resistance.
You remove the dagger from the tip of the young lancers nose and smile gruesomely, sitting back on your haunches."Right then. First things first. Why were you and your friends camped there? what was your mission?"He licks his lips, looking around nervously before nodding frantically"W-we where supposed to scout and patrol the lands outside Lord Daro's territories. Lord Brune is.. Is disappointed with him apparently. Some pack of savages sacked two villages and got away clean. Lord Daro is garrisoning each ssettlement to prevent it from happening again!"You share a look with your companions, grinning like a hungry Dragon. "I might of heard about some villages being hit. Seeing as I was the one doing it. Now.."Your hand flicks out, the flat of the dagger smacking into the bruise on the Lancers cheek."Next question. Are the local lords mobilizing their troops in any serious numbers? Are they gathering their banners or just reinforcing villages and towns?"The young man blinks away a droplet of blood and rolls his neck, breathing heavily"Not a full call. Just some conscript infantry, archers, a few Lancers as a patrolling force. Maybe thirty men to smaller villages, a hundred to larger ones. Just until Lord Brune is sure that the threat to the villages under his territory is gone. Then we get pulled back to the castles and larger towns."You chew your cheek, digesting the new information. If the moon lords are reinforcing their positions you will either need more men or to be more careful in your assaults. You nod finally, fixing the man with your glare."Last question. Where are you from?"The Lancer flicks his eyes between the group of hardened killers before him and sighs, hanging his head."BrightFrost. Its a small town out in the eastern end of the valley. Lord Caius has claim to it but he really only calls when needs to pad his ranks.""That wasn't so hard was it?"You lean back, patting the man on his shoulder and offering him a drink from your waterskin. Your dreams are peaceful without the presence of Vall. No visions plague you and you pass the night in a calm void, free of the turmoil your visions bring you. You awake well before dawn and stir the coals of the fire with a shattered femur, watching the sky lighten as great winged forms begin leaving the mountain in ones and twos. It is time. You wake your companions gently, ushering them quietly you quickly unhobble the horses, slinging the weakly kicking lancer over the back of one. His eyes are wide and bloodshot, tears and mucus streaming down his face. Arvel ducks as a winged shadow swoops overhead, the metallic ringing shriek of a griffin echoing off the Cliffside as it circles curiously before beating its wings to the valley below."Beasties are leavin' for the day! Some farmers are losing stock!"He laughs, leading a pair of the nervous pack horses.Falhim looks at a shattered skull, deep claw marks visible in the bone"And some villages are losing farmers"He mutters, looking up nervously. The climb up the Roost's eastern face is slow going, the paths little more than thin ledges. More than once you have to blind the horses to get them over a lip of stone. But climb you do.The higher you go, the more evidence of the Griffins becomes visible. Shattered and gnawed bones, rent scraps of hide, even discarded nests, easily large enough to serve as a small shelter for your entire party. Finally you reach the Roost, the bowl shaped depression at the top of the lonely mountain serving as the perfect nesting location for the Griffins. Enormous nests, easily twenty feet wide and constructed of entire tree branches and saplings, padded with feathers and strips of skins and wool. The ground crunches underfoot and you look down, not expecting gravel this high up."Oh fuck me"You breathe, looking around incredulously. The ground is covered in a layer of discarded bones several feet deep, some fresh and damp and others collapsing into dust and fragments.Wren looks down curiously and sighs"Have to walk quietly then won't we?"You all duck low as a creature flops awkwardly on the far side of the roost. Its feathers are patchy, partly downy fluff and partly adult flight fingers. Its the size of a large dog and its with foot wingspan beats unhappily as it jumps from nest to nest experimentally. Its long, feather tipped tail whips the air as it warbles, sniffing the air before lunging at a smaller juvenile, batting the fellow youngster with its wings."So that's a young griffin?"You ask, scratching your chin. Good on ya. Less risk of 'em squealing for ma and pa once we got em trussed up."Wren nocks a barbed arrow, throwing his hood back and rolling his shoulders."Or dead"Falhim swallows, a determined smile on his face as he twists the shaft of his spear with a white knuckle grip"Whats the plan Magnus?">We sneak over and try to get them by surprise>We use the Lancer as bait and get them to come to us.>We get their attention and ambush them>Other

"Time for our friend to earn his place in history"Wren laughs, pulling a arrow from his quiver as you yank the lancer from his mount, slinging him over your shoulder. You quickly stride around the rim of the Roost, ducking low behind the nests and boulders. Curious peeps and chirps sound from inside them and you start in shock as a bald, beaked head the size of a large cats pokes over the side of a nest and warblers curiously at you, opening its maw wide with a chirp of hunger. You chuckle at the Hatchlings boldness and set the lancer down with a grunt. You pull the gag from the mans mouth and hold your finger to his lips."Shhh. Dont want to wake the babies."The terrified young man nods as you sit up, patting his chest reassuringly as you look over your shoulder. Wren is leaning against a rock, aiming his bow at the unfortunate lancer. You curse, rubbing your forehead with the back of your hand. Six Griffins? Even young ones can be dangerous. You peak around the corner of the best as the rapidly approaching squawks and chirps grow ever closer. Like a pack of winged wolves they leap over the surrounding terrain, surrounding the frantically wriggling lancer cautiously. Their white fluff is falling out in patches, showing sleek black and brown feathers. Their wings, while not yet having grown the meter long flight feathers of their elders, are powerful, batting as they rear up on their lion like feet, talons grinding in the carpet of bone. One, bolder and larger than the others, a pink scar already torn through tthe feathers of its face above the pale yellow, hooked beak, steps forward, Nipping at the Lancers arm. He screams in pain and fear, kicking at the beast."No! NO! GET FUCK AWAY! GET AWAY! NO! Blood and scraps of flesh arc up as they shred his body to pieces. You creep forward, spear and net held low as Arvel and Falhim nervously do the same. Wow.It's a good thing Wren can apparently hold off 3-4 Griffins simultaneously by picking up bones and throwing them. After all, it's not like they're going to just sit and wait their turn while we capture their nestmates. We should congratulate him once this is over and we've bagged all six. Without him they would've swarmed our group like they did the lancer, or run away.
>>2362561I pictured it as Wren is drawing their attention. Using the bones to make them look at him, the smallest target and then making himself scarce enough to avoid getting swarmed but still keep them busy
>>2362574I know, he must be extremely skilled to pull that off. That's why we should congratulate him, maybe give him a raise? It must be hard juking that many griffins at once, all while keeping them from noticing the rest of our group. Very impressive work.
>>2362590Definetly. Wren is probably and will probably be one of our most competent allies during this quest. In a world of untamed wilderness and magical wildlife a master ranger and hunter is a massive boon. But a pay increase I don't think is possible. Being a barbarian warrior isn't a day job so much as a lifestyle you perform necessary labor, but your society is not complex enough to warrant a massive amount of specialized labor like our modern day.The real dough you make is taking risks by raiding enemies and stealing their accumulated wealth or conquering and taking control of the means of production of others as overlords.Since this is a hunting trip rather than a "job" we can't exactly give him a bonus on his paycheck, but his own griffin would be a noce gift though.>Tldr: Give Wren a griffin and we should be square.

Unless it seems were running out of time in which case we leave with 4 (which is till pretty good).
>>2362623Increased share of loot on raids?>>2362639I don't think animals prioritize eating over dealing with an immediate threat subduing their siblings.
>>2362688>Increased share of loot on raids? Not up to us the share of loot and booty (both kinds) you get in these raids seems to be performance based. The loot you get is based entirely on how much of a badass you are during the battle. But I suppose we could give Wren some loot to be generous next time we get some or we could give him one of the trophy weapons (a saber or Long swrd/dagger would be a good match for Wren as a skill based fighter).

>>2362461Griffins, Lesser and greater Wyrms are seen as the most ferocious of war beasts to ride as a mount. Trolls are seen as a vicious beast to have as part of your warparty and will make most men flee in terror. A direwolf is a highly respectable mount and anyone atop one will be respected and feared. Mammoths, Cliff Jumpers Stone Breakers and Granite hides are seen as highly useful beasts to have both as livestock, beasts of burden and War beasts/mounts.But the ULTIMATE mount/war beast you would find in the Shattered Peaks? A Great Bear. A ten ton bear the size of a bull mammoth with hide as tough as the mountainside. Theyre very rare and very dangerous, full grown adults would fight off dragons and usually win.
>>2362561They ARE easily distracted babies, they're going after what seems to be the bigger threat to them, torn between going after the men in their sights, the pesky human throwing bones and that tasty human They've torn to bits

>>2362761Hmm. What kinds of true dragons are there? Traditional 4 legged with wings/Fourlegged with no wings/wyvern styleAlso what niche do dragons fill are they intelligent and capable of speech or are they simply apex predators? Also are there any unique variants because we have heard of a black wyrm and a storm dragon from this quest so my interest is piqued.
>>2362776Wyrms, greater and lesser, are the smaller cousins of the dragons. They lack the magical power of dragons (immortality, Elemental attunement, speech) while retaining strength, brutal cunning and their ability to fly. Greater Wyrms can grow to to the size of a house and rip apart entire villages. Lesser Wyrms are the size of a very large horse and prowl the Cliffside in packs. They can't breathe fire but their claws and fangs can shred armor like paper and only a strike to a weak point can inflict serious injury. They are major apex predators and cunning as a man, but alas, the magic of the dragons is lost to them The dragons, immortal and near invulnerable were a creation of the gods to carry out their destructive will against each others creations. The Storm Dragon was the first and greatest of these living weapons and brought destruction wherever his shadow fell, breathing down pure energy to scorch cities to glass. The Black Wyrm was a Greater Wyrm of such immense strength, people mistook him for a an ancient dragon, his flock numbered in the hundreds and would rip entire towns apart in their ferocity.
>>2362810and vall killed all those fuckers eh?
>>2362831Killed or so grievously wounded they fled to the forgotten reaches of the world to heal over Millennia. Without their creators, they lost their purpose and many of the survivors simply sleep.
>>2362810Hmm. When you said a great bear could take a dragon on in a fight did you mean a greater wyrm or an acutal DRAGON dragon that is magic and all because if that's the case that pretty impressive. Also if a great bear is the size of a big mammoth how exactly do they stack up to a great wyrm who can be as big as a house and are probably smart enough to drop boulders on the bear with impunity or something like that?
>>2362839There were lesser and greater dragons. I shouldve elaborated on that. Lesser dragons (Drakes) were the descendants of the True Dragons. Those are the ones a great bear could take on with a hope of winning. A pack of greater Wyrms could, if they attack from the air and drop boulders on it, incapacitate a Great Bear but if it manages to get into cover and they have to get on the ground, the fight is over for them.
>>2362846is the great bear viewed as a religion? is there direbears?
>>2362846Okay so just to clarify for future reference. There are two grades of dragonsLESSER DRAGONS: which itself consists of Two grades of lesser dragon. Lesser and Greater wyrms who are smart and strong but have no magic are smaller/weaker and also not immortal.GREATER DRAGONS: They are magic with breath attacks they are really strong and big and immortal. Probably sit somehwere awfully high the world hierarchy of big nasty things to watch out for.
>>2362885100% correct anon.
>>2362867Great Bears are viewed as kind of a "Big Strong animal so obviously the spirits view it as important" type beast.

>Falcon PAWNCHFor the second time today you cock your fist back, gripping a struggling griffin pup by the throat with the other"Twice in one day?"You mutter to yourself as you knock the griffin pup out cold with a single blow, its beak lolling limply and eyes blinking dazedly.Wrapping its legs, beak and wings in the loops of rawhide you quickly subdue it, tying the knots so tightly a snake would have trouble wriggling free. The beast chirps unhappily as you brace your foot on its feathery side and rub your forehead , the chirps and squawks of the surrounding griffins giving you a headache.Falhim yells in triumph as he snags a loop around the snowy griffin s beak, holding the beasts attention long enough for Arvel to bind its legs and secure its wings to its back. The regal looking griffin squawks indignatly but can do nothing to resist as its companions back away, the strongest of their number lnocked down and subdued, the juveniles have no fight left.Arvel drags the heavy, white feathered griffin over to the others you have subdued and quickly wraps a strip of cloth around the bleeding gouge in his arm, laughing quietly as the Griffins wriggle unhappily."Four big healthy ones! Good job Magnus! The warriors of old rode these bastards into battle, I thought those days were gone amd never to come again. >>2363270> Let's go for some eggsLOOT!LOOT!LOOT!
>>2363345From QM we know that the eggs only need 2 months to hatch and it takes 6-8 months for them to fly and 1-2 yrs to mature (although they grow continually through life)These eggs are in the company of what looks like a few griffins getting close to but not at the point where they can fly.The ones we caught are the oldest ones and are probably close to 3-5 months in age getting close to flying but not there are they still like their full set of flight feathers. The other set of youngsters are smaller and probably 1-2 months old. If the Griffins have staggered their hatchlings like that I would say the eggs will hatch soon. That's at most a 2-3 month difference and we probably wont be able to ride one until they are mature in which case thats at least 1 year away so an extra 2 -3 months between griffins is not a big deal.>TLDR: The age gap isn't too big. we can wait a little longer if we take the eggs.

You brace your hand on the edge of a silent nest and call out to your companions"The eggs! Go for the eggs! Wren! Watch the skies!"You vault into the nest, landing carefully on a padded mat of shredded sheep skin and deer hides. Enormous, downy feathers act as cushions for the enormous eggs, easily the size of melons. Their smooth shells are dappled white and brown, warmed by the near constant sunlight and shielded from the cool wind by the raised edges of the nest. You quickly grab up a pair of the eggs under each arm, feeling the sleeping soon-to-be-hatchlings inside shift as you leap over the edge of the nest.Wren swivels like a tree in a storm, his bow nicked and a barbed arrow counting evilly as he calls out."Getting close! Got a mother coming back in! Five minutes out if were lucky!!"You curse, watching Arvel and Falhim negotiate a makeshift carrying litter of the edge of a nest. A handful of eggs are balanced precariously atop it and you grit your teeth as they bounce and jostle. Arvel takes initiative, cursing at Falhim as he nearly stumbles"Dammit boy! Prove to me we didnt feed the wrong damn cunt to these fuckin' chickens!"Spurred on by the very real threat of impending death, either by a griffin or by Arvel's fists, Falhim runs with the grace of a deer across the field of bones. You quickly catch up as they stop on the small lip you left your stress at, the blindered horses shuffling nervously as Falhim and Arvel secure the eggs in the saddlebags of the pack horses, dumping out unneeded supplies to make room. You hand off your armload of eggs and vault the lip again, dashing at a full sprint to the bound griffin pups. Slinging one over each shoulder, you grunt at the weight and begin pounding back to the horses. Wren takes careful aim with his bow, loosing an arrow and leaping down to join you. A distant, pained screech echoes through the sky and he calls out to you"I just bought us some time!"Dropping heavily over the lip again, you sling the bound griffin s over the backs of the horses, strapping the down securely with lashes of leather and rope.Wren smack Arvel on the shoulder, pointing him after you as you go back for the second pair of griffin pups"Hey! I can handle these! Go help Magnus before we all get killed!"He shouts, pushing Arvel along. You sling the white feathered griffin over your shoulders as Arvel grabs the smaller, Hawklike one and you both beat a hasty retreat to the horses, the distant screeches growing closer by the second."We gonna make it mate?"Arvel grunts, spitting a mouthful of downy fluff and dropping down after you, wincing as the weight twinges his knee on the landing. You cast an eye on the distant shadows growing closer by the moment and shrug"Honestly? Probably not"You laugh darkly and Arvel barks out laughter"Ive done more with less odds!">Have Wren give you sniper support as you go back for hatchlings>Have Wren give you Anti-Air as you withdraw with your catch

>108>83. AA-WrenYou lead the horses down the mountain path as fast as you can without losing either the precious, hard won cargo or your life. Stray stones and twigs a litter from the path under your boots and the horses hooves, falling beyond sight over the edge of the path."Move Move MOVE!!"You roar as a shadow sweeps overhead. The griffin, a large adult by your reckoning swoops down to pluck you from the cliff face, its razor sharp talons wet with blood from a stray ox. You leap back in shock but your reflexive leap is unnecessary as the Griffins peels away with a screech of agony, a black shaft punching into the muscle of its wing.Wren nocks another arrow, drawing the bow back while keeping his back to the wall of the cliff"I said id cover you now MOVE!"He shouts, releasing the arrow and sending another griffin into a spiral, snapping at the shaft in its foreleg.Arvel swears incredulously, hauling the horses along after you as Wrens bow snaps again and again, each shot bringing a screech of agony and impotent rage. "Buggers want our asses somethin' fierce!"Four times the griffins swoop in to pluck your hunting party from the mountainside and four times they are repelled, Karen's deadly aim sending them wheeling back or plummeting like stricken pigeons.Their efforts grow less fierce the farther down the mountain you go, their attention shifting from babies they cannot reach to those that screech in hunger. You usher your group into the cave you camped in only the night before and peek out the entrance as a particularly loud shriek echoes through the mountains. Falhim pokes his head out behind you as a massive, winged shaped circles the mountain, shrieking in fury. Its wingspan must be at least fourty feet, each feather as black as pitch and as large as a longsword. Its body is a mixture of bulging, lean muscle under the thick coat of inky feathers and massive, bone deep scars. Its head is crisscrossed with rips and slashes beyond count, its red stained beak chipped and cracked, looking more like a clumsy butchers cleaver than the mouth of a animal. The right front forelimb ends in a clipped stump, the limb lopped off clean with incredible force. Each colossal wingbeat echoes off the mountains like the drum of a giant as it circles, regarding you with the one red eye it still possesses.Blood-Beak, uundisputed king of the roost for over thirty years, regards you like the thief and robber he knows you are. He screeches in fury and bats his wings as he hovers for a moment, studying your cave. Finally he screeches angrily, flapping hard to gain altitude he circles back around the mountain. He cannot fit into your cave and his young call to him. He cannot help the ones you have stolen but he can provide for them, as he has always done.>cont
