Your head feels hot. Sweat trickles down the back of your neck as you stand on guard in front of the plane, eyes on the horizon and hands on your weapon.

It is scorching for such a cloudy day. You take a sip of water from your canteen, annoyed at the tardiness of the militiamen. You, CIA, Button-Lee, and Juan Ovyu have been standing outside the plane for hours.

Off in the distance you see movement. Something black moves along the ground in the field far north of you.

You peer through the scope of your weapon and see it is a car. It seems the militiamen have finally arrived.

Maiman exits the plane and hands a silver briefcase to CIA as the vehicle finally approaches. It parks about twenty feet away and you see the VIP, Dr. Pavel exit, along with the AK-wielding mercenaries, who bring restrained men wearing all black with bags over their heads out from the car. One of them is a big guy.

Your weapon is lowered, but you are ready for combat. You know how quickly these deals can go badly.

Your commander speaks as he hands a brown-haired, lightly bearded militiaman the briefcase. “Dr. Pavel, I’m CIA.”

“He wasn’t alone,” the militiaman says.

“Uh, you don’t get to bring friends.”

“They are not my friends,” Dr. Pavel says, Maiman grabbing him and taking him inside the safety of the aeroplane.

“Don’t worry, no charge for them,” the mercenary says, assuringly.

“And why would I want them?” CIA asks skeptically, looking at the prisoners.

“They were trying to grab your prize. They work for the mercenary. The musket man.”

CIA looks shocked for a second, but then responds. “Bane?”

“Aye,” says the mercenary.

CIA turns around to shout out an order. “Get them on board. I’ll call Ittin!”

What do you do?
>A. Get them on board and let CIA call Ittin.
>B. Persuade CIA that he should take the masks off the prisoners before taking them onto the plane. (DC: Very Hard)

You are wary of these prisoners and speak your thoughts.

“Uh, sir. Perhaps we should identify these prisoners before bringing them on the plane. Let’s take off their hoods.”

You notice the attractive mercenary look a bit bewildered.

CIA pivots towards you, and assumes his intimidating stance, hands on his belt. He stares you in the eyes.

“I’m CIA.”

You feel cowed, involuntarily. He is obviously in charge here. His statuesque pose is one of complete authority, with the full majesty of the Aegean Sea behind it. You’ve never been more afraid of anything in your life.

“I’m CIA. Not you, Smee. Now get them on board, like I said. I’ll call Ittin.

He leaves, heading towards the payphone to call Ittin, to your relief. You and your comrades get them on board.

...

The plane, Wreckage Brother, is in the air, high above the mountains of Uzbekistan. You and Heer stand behind the three hooded men who are kneeling on the ground. If they try anything you’ll be right on them.

CIA, who is opposite you, begins to speak, swaying as he unholsters his pistol.

“The flight plan I just filed with the Aegean Sea lists Smee, Maimen, Doctor Pavel, Heer, Button-Lee, Juan Ovyu. First one to talk gets to stay on my aircraft.” CIA cocks his weapon and gestures towards you and you understand his cunning plan. You open the aircraft door, full of pride that your name was mentioned first.

Heer drags one of the prisoners to the aircraft door, forcing him onto his back and sticking his head out of the cabin.

CIA looms over the prisoner menacingly, holding a gun to his head.

“Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel!”

There is no response. CIA fires his weapon into the air, and gestures for Heer to drag the prisoner back inside.

“He didn’t fly so good. Who wants to try next!?” CIA screams over the din of the wind.
Heer drags the other medium guy prisoner to the window and CIA interrogates once again.

“Tell me about Bane! Why does he wear the mask!?” The prisoner is stubbornly silent. “A lot of loyalty for a hired gun!”

The big guy prisoner speaks with a booming, British voice. “Or perhaps he’s wondering why you would shoot a man, before throwing him out of a plane.”

You realize that the big guy has called CIA’s bluff.

CIA is about to move the prisoner away from the cabin door.

Do you:

>C. Shoot the prisoner who was just interrogated (DC: Hard)

You feel uneasy. A part of you wants to shoot the large man, but you are too frightened of CIA’s wrath to take any action. He is in charge here, after all.

Heer drags the prisoner away from the door as CIA approaches the man who talked. You close the cabin door.

“At least you can talk. Who are you?” says CIA.

“It doesn’t matter who we are. What matters is our plan.”

CIA crouches down in front of the hooded man and slowly removes the hood. You see he is wearing a mask. You realize it is Bane. You and Heer look at each other in shock as Bane speaks.

“No one cared who I was until I put on the mask.”

“If I pulled that off would you die?” CIA questions.

“It would be extremely painful”

“You’re a big guy.”

“For you.”

You are puzzled, and wonder whether Bane meant that it would be extremely painful for CIA if he pulled off the mask or that Bane is a big guy for CIA.

You decide to:
>A. Let CIA continue his interrogation.
>B. Ask Bane if he meant he is a big guy for CIA or it would be extremely painful for CIA (DC: Easy-Medium)

>Success vs DC 14.

Now is your chance. You’ve been hunting the terrorist Bane with CIA for three years. Surely, whatever plans he has laid in store will be ruined once he’s dead. You bring your hand to your chest to draw your handgun.

CIA speaks. “Was getting caught p-“

“WITNESS SMEE!” you interrupt, drawing your handgun, to the alarm of Heer and all others in the aircraft.

Bane turns his head to look at the noise. Your pouty visage is the last thing he sees before a bullet exits your gun and enters his skull, splattering his brains all over the cabin floor. You hear a faint hum from outside the aircraft.

The big guy falls onto the floor with a thud. Dr. Pavel looks like he can’t believe his eyes. CIA looks at you angrily.

“God damn it, Smee. Now I’ll never know what the next step in his master plan is.”

“Surely his master plan is no more, now that he is dead,” you respond, holstering your weapon. You notice the other hooded prisoners tremble as they realize what has happened.

The noise outside the plane grows louder. “Someone get this hothead out of here,”, CIA says.

Heer grabs you by the shoulders to take you to the lavatory. “Sorry, Smee,” he says.

Maiman looks out of the window with consternation. You notice his eyes widen.

“Uh, sir,” he says, approaching CIA.

“What?” CIA yells in irritation.

“There’s an airplane above us, a big one. It seems to be pursuing us.”

POV SHIFT

Your day is ruined. Smee killed Bane before you could find out if getting caught was part of his plan, ruining the airplane carpet, and now you are being pursued by an unknown aircraft.

”Sir! Soldiers are rappelling from the aircraft. What should we do?”

You quickly think about which order you should give.
>A. Order the pilots to take evasive maneuvers. (DC: Hard)
>B. Order the pilots to stay the course and your soldiers to prepare for combat. You will kill the rappelling soldiers and commandeer their ship. (DC: Hard)
>C. Order Smee and Heer to jump out of the plane with Dr. Pavel, parachuting him to safety and protecting him until other Aegeans can arrive. While this will secure Dr. Pavel’s safety, it will make defending the plane harder. (DC: Very Hard)
>D. Order everyone to jump out of the plane with parachutes. (DC: Medium-Hard)

POV SHIFT

“Let them come,” CIA orders as he smirks smugly. “In these narrow aisles, their numbers will count for nothing.”

Hearing CIA’s words, Dr. Pavel begins to moan like a woman being sodomized, terrified of the coming engagement.

CIA looks to Heer and his grip on you slackens. “Looks like I still have a use for you, Smee.”

“Sir! They’re almost here!” says Maiman.

CIA pivots towards one of the windows and engages his power stance. “Ready your breakfasts and eat hearty, for tonight, we dine in the infernal plane!”

You quickly take a few bites out of your pocket bagel. The sound of Dr. Pavel’s moaning is interrupted by a slam. They’re right outside the plane!

The sound of gunfire deafens you as your comrades engage their own targets. You move to draw your pistol from your chest holster to shoot the man in front of you but the ropetta man is too fast.

He fires a burst from his SMG. The glass shatters and you are pushed back as the bullets collide with you. Your plate carrier blocks the bullets aimed at your chest, but the burst moves upwards. You feel a hot, dull sensation as you are hit in the neck and the face. You fall to your knees and on your bleeding face. You here Heer behind you as everything slowly turns to black.

“SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeee……..

POV SHIFT

“EEEEEEEEEEEEE!”

You scream in anguish as you shoot the man outside your own window, seeing your closest friend Smee being gunned down in front of you. You see CIA manage to shoot one of the ropetta men in the head, but Juan is killed by gunfire from outside himself.

You hear something metal latching. The soldier who shot Smee makes a hand signal to someone above. You realize he is trying to be drawn up so he can escape!

Do you:

You quickly rush to the side of Smee who is face-down on the floor, not far from Bane’s body. You hear the battle cry of Button-Lee as he offers suppressing fire with his rifle, causing the soldier outside the window to take cover.

You kneel by his side and flip Smee over. Blood flows from his neck wound but you notice it has missed the spine. You hope it has also missed his arteries. Blood also flows from the wound in his face. The bullet seems to have exited outside of his jaw.

You wonder how you should treat the unconscious Smee.

The pathetic moaning of Dr. Pavel hurts your ears more than the constant sound of gunfire. You grab a roll of gauze from a pocket in your plate carrier and begin to wrap it around Smee’s neck, tight enough to keep pressure on his wound, but not so tight that it impedes his breathing.

You finish your work, but Smee does not stir, and you see no way to bandage his facial wounds. You look to Bane and realize his Mask would perfectly cover the wounds. You desperately remove the mask, hearing a hiss, and put it onto Smee’s head.

You hear a hiss as the gas inside the mask begins to enter Smee’s mouth.

He begins to breathe more forcefully and opens his eyes. He’s alive!

POV SHIFT

You hardly feel your wounds. You feel embiggened by the gas which you breathe from Bane’s mask. You feel like you could take on the world, even CIA and the Aegean Sea!

“Smee! You’re alive!” Heer says, standing over you.

“Smee… Yes… That is what th-“

“There’s no time to talk!” Heer interrupts. “Get up,” he says, offering you a hand.

You grab his hand and he hoists you up.

“They’ve retreated! We’ve won!” Maiman shouts.

“Not yet!” yells CIA. “They’ve attached something to the Wreckage Brother.”

The plane begins to tilt. Dr. Pavel is still moaning like a pornstar being doubly penetrated. You decide what to do next.

“Why are you here?” you say to CIA with your new, deep, British-old-man voice as the plane tilts further.

“What the hell do you mean by that?” CIA responds.

Heer backs you up. “Answer him!”

“I don’t have to answer your questions. I’m in charge here!”

You approach CIA menacingly. He attempts to stop you with his power stance but you simply laugh, causing him to shrink.

“Do you feel in charge?” you say as you place a hand on his shoulder, palm up.

“This can’t be happening!”

You draw CIA into an embrace and whisper into his ear. “It’s time for you to leave. Take the parachutes and jump out, but leave me with Doctor Pavel. I will infiltrate the terrorists and bring them down from within.”

He complies, totally cowed. The plane tilts even further as they all approach one of the broken windows to jump out.

Heer gives you a thumbs up before he jumps, being the last to exit the plane.

Dr. Pavel looks at you wearing Bane’s mask and starts moaning like a starlet in a casting with “Coke Can” Dan Schneider.

The plane goes completely vertical. You adjust your position by standing on the seats, in the center of the aisle. You feel the wings of the plane are torn off by the force of the wind which blows perpendicularly to the surface of the wings.

You hear an explosion behind you and a gust of wind. You see that the tail of the plane has been blown off by an explosion.

The black-clad ropetta men rappel down into the plane with a black body. The open the bag and start pumping blood from Dr. Pavel into the body, causing him to moan even more.

One of the ropetta men comes close to you and hands you a cable which you hook to your belt. You grab Dr. Pavel.

One of the restrained mercenary manages to remove his restraints and climb up to you, removing his face mask. “Bane! We thought you died!”

“Just a prank, bro.” you respond.

“Oh, Bane. Don’t scare us like that again. By the way, why are you wearing this U.S. Special Force clothings? And when did you grow hair?”

“Oh,” you respond, quickly thinking of an explanation, “Well, it got pretty cold here so I took one of the agents clothes before throwing him out the plane and putting on a wig.”

“Good thinking, Bane,” the mercenary says. One of the ropetta men hands him a cable. He takes it and starts to hook it to his belt.

Do you:

You put your hand on his shoulder to stop him.

“No. They expect eight of us in the Wreckage Brother,” you turn around to face the ropetta men, “all eight of us.”

All the mercenaries and ropetta men speak at the same time. “Have we started the fire?”

“Yesh,” you reply. “The fire rises!”

They dutifully remove the ropes from their belts and begin to chant. “Deshi, deshi, basara basara, deshi, deshi, basara basara…” as Dr. Pavel continues to moan like a toddler duct-taped to a ping pong table in a pizza place.

“Calm down doctor. Now’s not the time for fear. That comes later.”

You press a button in your hand and the latches which hold the plane to the one above disengage. The chant of “deshi, deshi, basara basara…” grows fainter as the plane continues to fall.

You hang in the air as Dr. Pavel continues to moan like a Hollywood actress in a business meeting with Harvey Weinstein.

You feel a force pulling you upwards on your belt. You are slowly pulled up to the ramp of the plane.

You reach the ramp. Two mercenaries grab Dr. Pave, pulling him up into the plane. You look up to see the mosquitoish mercenary from before offer you a hand.

You accept it and he pulls you up.

“Well, mosquitoman, I made it, despite your directions,” you say.

The mercenary laughs as he responds. “Ah, Bane, welcome! I hope you are prepared for an unforgettable luncheon. We stopped by a kinoplex before takeoff and hired one of the employees. We even managed to fit his booth inside the plane! Take a look!”

He points towards the prow and you see an African-American man behind a table, with a popcorn machine behind him. He sees you and smiles.

“Of courshe,” you reply, looking at his nametag.

“It’ll be ready in just a moment, sir. I’ll make it fresh!” Robert says.

”Come on, Bane. Let me show you to the captain’s cabin,” the mosquito man says. “What should we do with Dr. Pavel?”

>A. Bring him with you.
>B. Lock him in a lavatory.

You follow him towards the front of the plane. When you go through one of the doors you are surprised to see an aisle filled with passengers just like in an airliner. You notice they are eating cheese with your mercenaries.

Mosquitoman notices the odd look. “Ah, I thought I’d make us some extra money by flying these stranded Frenchmen to their homeland. Our men are enjoying the company! We need to stop by anyway to refuel the plane before flying to Gotham. I hope you do not mind.”

“Not at all,” you reply.

“I knew you’d appreciate it! Come on, lets go meet the pilots.”

He approaches the cabin door and uses the microphone nearby to tell the pilots to let you in.

The door opens. You enter and the pilot speaks as the door closes behind you!

“Welcome to flight 4U9525, Bane! I’ll get you to Gotham in no time! Well, after dropping off these Frenchmen of course.”

>C. You will not suffer the French on your plane. You will have your mercenaries throw them out of the plane immediately.
>D. This is agreeable to you. You will simply wait until you arrive at Gotham. (This will result in a quest end with Smee fulfilling the roll of Bane in an epilogue)
>E. You are in the captain’s cabin. This is your chance to crash the plane with no survivors! You will take the controls and do so!

You decide you will wait until you approach France and then cause the plane to crash to put an end to the real Bane’s organization. You wonder if it is worth the innocent lives, but recall CIA’s words, “No Frenchman is really innocent, Smee. Remember that.”

With your conscience clear you make your silent resolution. The pilot says it will be six hours before you reach France, quite a long time. Luckily Robert soon arrives with your popcorn. It is a struggle to eat, with you having to force the popcorn through the side of and under your mask. You wonder how Bane ate so much to become such a big guy with such an inconvenient mask.

You pass the time eating and drinking with mosquitoman, the pilot, and Dr. Pavel. You begin to even enjoy the company as mosquitoman entertains you with stories of his life as a mercenary before he joined you.

Seven hours later, mosquitoman and Dr. Pavel have fallen asleep, leaning against each other and the walls. All of you have gotten quite drunk, even the pilot, who mutters to himself at the controls. You wonder if you even have to crash the plane yourself. You ask him if you are close to France.

“Hmmmsh, yesh. We are in France now, not far from a little town called Digne-les-Bains. I’ll land near the airport in Paris, still a ways off.”

You are hungry. You stand up and use the intercom to call for more popcorn.

A thought troubles you. You realize Robert isn’t French.

You wonder how you will crash the plane.

>A. Kill mosquitoman and the pilot and then crash the plane.
>B. Convince the pilot to let you fly the plane and then crash the plane.

You also wonder what you should do about yourself and Dr. Pavel. You know the Aegean Sea wants Dr. Pavel alive.

>C. Crash the plane with no survivors.
>D. Grab parachutes and jump out of the plane with Dr. Pavel.

You know what must be done.

You almost feel sorry for the sleeping mosquitoman as you loom over his unconscious form but then you remember all that he’s done. His mercenaries killed Juan and almost killed you. One night of merriment doesn’t change that.

You put both hands on his neck and begin to choke him to death. He opens his eyes and stares at you in a confused panic. He tries to squeeze out some words, but your grip is too strong. A tear falls from his eye as he finally ceases his struggling and dies.

“What the hell ish goin’ on back there?” the pilot says, turning around. When he sees mosquitoman he yells, panicked. “What the hell did y-“

He is interrupted as you leap towards him and easily snap his neck. You heave his body out of his chair and strap in. It seems the autopilot is still engaged.

You grab parachute from beneath your seat and put it on. You pull another parachute from a compartment to your right and throw it at Dr. Pavel, who is still asleep, causing him to jump and awake.

“Put it on, Doctor. We’re Dunheir!”

The Doctor complies, but you can tell he is scared from the way he is moaning like a porn actress just as before.

Adrenaline begins to pump through your veins as you disengage the autopilot and take the controls, sending the plane downward. You set the engines to max and the plane enters into an irrecoverable dive.

“Hang on to me, Doctor!”

The doctor wraps his arms around your waist and hangs from you as you pull yourself up to the escape hatch just outside the cabin. You notice the passengers are still enjoying their cheese oblivious to what is happening.

You begin to open the escape hatch. You hear a distant “Sir!” as you open the escape hatch and are flung out by the air, along with Dr. Pavel, still latched on to you.

You fly high above the accelerating plane, spreading your body to increase the drag of the air.

The plane crashes into the ground and explodes. You’ve done it! You’ve defeated Bane and his entire organization!

“Sir! Sir!” you hear from behind you. You turn around to see the source of the sound and are startled by the sight. It’s Robert, and he’s not even wearing a parachute, just holding a big bucket of popcorn.

“Sir! You forgot your popcorn!” he says, hurtling right towards you.

You grunt as he painfully collides with you, causing you to spin as your head is submerged in the bucket of popcorn. Dr. Pavel begins to moan even more now that he has been separated from you by the collision.

Robert holds on to you and starts to scream, realizing he is in a freefall now that he has done his job and delivered the popcorn.

“Open your chute, doctor!” you command.

The panicked doctor somehow manages to obey your command. You manage to stop spinning and open your own parachute.

You both land not far from each other in a nearby field.

Robert lets out a sigh of relief and you detach the chute from your harness as you remove the bucket of popcorn from head.

You drop the popcorn and approach Dr. Pavel, whose moans are muffled by the chute he is tangled in. You leave Robert behind as he pants on the ground.

“Enough, Doctor! You’re safe!” you say as you untangle him from the chute and remove it from his harness.

Dr. Pavel finally begins to cease his moaning and you pull him to his feet.

“We’ve got a long walk to the Aegean Sea, Dr. Pavel. Better get started now. Sooner we get to CIA for the debrief, the sooner you can get home.”

Dr. Pavel nods and you two begin to walk eastwards.

“Sir!?” you hear from behind.

“You did good, kid,” you respond, continuing “Oh, and the kernels, keep em. They’re yours. I never could get the damn things to work for me. Heh.” You pause and then speak again. “I’ll see you around, kiddo.”

You are a few hours few your trek with Dr. Pavel when you hear something in the distance. It sounds like music.

As you approach further you realize it is a guitar. Someone in the wilderness is playing a tune. You hear a singing from behind a nearby tree.

“There’s a man goin’ round takin’ names
And he decides who to free and who to blame
Everybody won’t be treated all the same
There’ll be a golden ladder reachin’ down
When the man comes around”

A man holding a guitar exits from behind the cover of the tree, looking you in the eyes before speaking.

“I’m putting together a team.”
