A dark wind howls along the rocky and dark coastline of this land the giants call home, but no eyes are on the strange, but plain, terrain. Rather, they focus upwards towards a pillar of enormous size; one that towers to the clouds, and goes no further. Yet, mixed in with your sense of vertigo is something you don't quite have a word for, until it snaps into your minds:

déjà vu.

Last time on Innerworld, you had worked on the nation's development before hearing word of strange creatures spotted in Upper Lopen, who quickly poured over their lands before your assistance helped put an end to this new race's, the trow's, menace. Then, you received reports of Reptia being invaded by a land over the sea as they sought your aid, but they rejected the demands made in recompense. In fact, their enemies instead extended a hand; a group strangely also known as the Lopen. Their sailors as you have traveled here have spoken both of the past of your twisted founder, Ier, and of the land that sunk beneath the sea nearly 3 centuries ago.

***

As you enter the entrance hall of what your Ehwazi guide, Wid, tells you is the king's palace, you find yourself looking back on what you've seen so far during your venture to what ended up being a building hollowed out of the great column, one that is at the same time fatter and shorter than yours at home. Water merchants standing on the rugged, rough, and light colored soil on which little appears to grow, hawking ridiculously priced drinks for the unwary traveler; strange peaks like small mountains, with houses hollowed out of them; and a marketplace standing directly below the pillar, made of several levels for the different sized groups who visit the nation of these Lopenei. While you are exhausted, at the same time, there is a nervous energy as Wid gulps and pushes through the door at last.

"My liege," he announces, "these are they who you wished to speak to."
>>
As your eyes adapt to the low light in the room faster than Ehwazi, you spy the king in conversation with a woman for a few moments even after your companion's speech. This luminescence you find what it does come from are strange waxy stems composed of... something. At the top, what appears to be a small rope burns slowly. Not just a handful of course, but hundreds of them, all dimly illuminating the king, who has now turned to you. He says nothing for a while, and then his voice booms out like a drum.

"Young ghouls, where do you wander to?"
>>
>>2349330
"Greetings, I am Tarin Metalar, Patriarch of Khazir and member of the Concord of Ier. We thank you for welcoming us to your home and we look forward to arranging a prosperous relationship between our nations."
>>
>>2349331
“I don’t know and cannot speak for the others. I suppose I wander wherever fate takes me.”
>>

>>
>>2349337
>>2349352
>>2349354
The king remains silent for a while, before grinning and bursting out laughing.

"Well there's a decent mix of answers for once. Hello and welcome, all of you; though it would be rude of me not to show an ally to our brethren kinship in return. I take it by your eyes, you must be Dovan."

"Yes," responds the Chieftain, "I suppose we have a lot to talk about."

"That we do, but that'll have to wait. I have other matters to attend to until the night of the feast, which is but two days away. Stay, play, and do as you will. I leave it to Wid to make sure you aren't trampled in the city."

"Y-yes, my liege," the subject of the light hearted jab just manages to spit out.

***

Your guide brings you to your rooms, where he suggests you at least rest for now. The sun is setting, and there is little to do at night, while the risk of being stepped on grows disproportionately. In this city of Lazor, he mutters, being drunk can lead to mass manslaughter if a giant isn't careful.

Over the coming days, what did you do before the mid-year celebration began?

The Ehwazi smithing techniques, you discover, differ little from your own, but they have a lack of native materials that has made branching out both in terms of trade and thus diplomacy necessary.

You manage to buy a few pieces that draw out the general landmass of the island these people live on, but no actual detail.

>>2349382
A local magi talks you through some terminology that their people have used for quite some time; mages of the elemental variety are called just that, mages. However, warlocks were those whose blood had elements such as that of animals. And the real term, in general, is magician. On top of that, you copy down the notes you saw on the pillar, along with having that mage record a few you had not seen before, specifically "gather, disperse, and pierce".

>>2349383
You buy a very expensive turtle by the name of "Mill". It's painted purple, for some reason, and you're not sure why you did it. Was it the plants he recommended you eat? Probably. Does that make it a less attractive turtle? No.

>>2349397
You find little in the ways of exotic beasts, but do find the same runes as Tekhom. It seems that the landscape here is not much different from that at home, so the animals aren't either.

>>2349405
The companion appears to have a ludicrous amount of chickens, and on inspection, seems to have gone to the same place as Ator did. A strange place, this Lazor. He keeps murmuring something about a water merchant named Alez.

>>2349435
(I'll note that autorolls can only be taken for projects, and even then if not magic related, so the follow up roll here was needed.)

You discover several noticeable differences, and all of them appear to be part of a concerted effort in the past to reunify the Lopenei after the Light. It apparently sunk much of these lands, and the dirt on which you stand is only a recent addition, patching in part of a sunken mountain range. The first example would be a monarchy vs a chiefdom, an apparent response to legitimacy questions after the fall of what the Lopenei here call the Old Continent. They are mostly similar, although their society appears less traditional in general. There are some areas where this is not the case of course; for example, in speech, their dialect is a lot closer to that of what the original Ehwazi spoke, or so it is said. Likewise, sayings such as the greeting you were met with that you were not used to, used by the king, are from an older time, though only a generation or two has passed. Those differences, then, are ascribable to the lack of connection the Lopenei on your side of the sea had to the world of the past, so much so that some gaps were instead filled in with guesses on what certain sayings were meant to be.
>>
The day arrives before you know it, and you find yourself swept up in the festivities in town. Lazor's markets and taverns are decorated with masks and trinkets and all sorts of things, all connected to the sun up above. The dinner is not until later, but what do you wear and bring with you to such an important feast? Is there any special way you prepare?

As a few stray clouds remain visible in sight, those ornaments you saw in the king's throne room, candles, as they are known, are the only source of light around. They say it is to mark how the sun is an important provider in the world, but this is only what they celebrate this festival. At other times, other things, as some of you remember hearing tales of. Winter, spring, the end of the year, the start; there is always cause to celebrate for the Lopenei. Their belief in the Cycle, that all things that once were will be again, remains strong, despite this. And some, including Wid, say that is why they have so many celebrations yearly. The Cycle passes, and they, more so than any group you have encountered, wish to record its passing somehow, be it writing, singing, dancing, or festivals that will always come around for them. He wishes you all remember this, for to be invited to such an event is not an honor to be taken lightly. He especially directs this towards Tarin.

He notes little taboo, but does tell you the lines before he shows you to where you will be going.

"To our new home, from the Gold to the Grey."

It would seem to you that this concept of the Grey was not something your people came up with themselves.

***

You make your way down from the pillar, most dressed in fineries, one in a toga (with a smaller one for the turtle), and the last not wearing much at all. Wid remains silent as he leads you onwards, to a place where a handful of giants, ghouls, and even a couple of gnolls are wandering towards. It looks like... well, it looks like an enormous pit. Dark and ringed with circles, multilayered as it goes down, it's apparent that this was dug out for some purpose, and as you descend, that becomes more and more clear. Voices escape from the center of it, at the bottom, and you can swear it's in a nice manner. As you reach that area, your assumption is proved correct: a massive and open area is covered in people, as figures bearing candles wander around in masks, looking more than a little creepy. Dignitaries talk, drink, and appear to be having a pleasant time, and Wid is more than happy to let you do the same as you disperse into the crowd.
>>
>>2349524
Tarin snorts, he is not hear to honor some non-existent cycle. If there were those Ringborn ghouls here he would seek to talk with them and learn of their ways, like else interested him.

>>
>>2349524
Adorned with her mask on, Tekhom talks to any of the high ranking magicians that may be at the party. She also spends time talking about the fine glass goods her clan produces, hoping that she can get a few buyers.
>>
>>2349524
Bazi puts on the mask and enjoys the celebration with the other guests.
>>
>>2349545
There are several Ringborn you could chat to, all you have to do is specify. A military leader? General populace? Their leader?

>>2349550
Zelon interacts with who he can, particularly the man Ator's faction seemed to come into contact with. Alez of Jone seems like a nice man, though a bit paranoid about others poisoning his drinks. He confides in you that he suspects some of those here are actually creatures he had met long ago when he was a sailor; for he is a giant, and an old one at that. The creatures, he say, dragged all but him down to the depths after a bad shipwreck. Leaving him, the lone messenger, to be assumed mad when he spouted the so called truth. They were like lizards he said. That or plants. One of the two.

>>2349557
The candles, you're told, are pretty much on sale anywhere, though the recipe is something passed down by their people. As for the similar concepts, the Ehwazi do brighten to that, especially those on the more traditional side of the government. They share concerns that the king does not pay as much respect to it as he should, and when you tell of your story of meeting him, that does not improve their opinion at all.
>>
>>2349615
Of their general populace and were they have settled.
>>
>>2349562
Fah'layn manages to talk to several Ringborn, who express interest in such a 'walking staff'. As they share something warming with you, with red coloration, they express much the same opinion. Their bodies know war, even if they weren't sentient the entire time, and an event like this doesn't quite sit right.

>>2349567
>>2349621
As both of you are more or less seeking the same goal, you sit in the same band of Ringborn men and women and chat, though uncomfortably perched on seats carved of rock. They tell you that after the apparent defeat in the North of the feral packs they found themselves part of, they moved eastwards, and, well, swam quite a distance to an island. There, the survivors of those who did manage to cross (a feat completed while in feral form, mind) awoke on a beach, dazed and confused. Only one of them was not like the others. A berserker. Wearing a ring, he greeted them and told them of their situation, one which they skip over as you needle them on you know, your actual question. You didn't ask for their life's story, rokdamnit. Somewhat embarrassed, they tell you that after a while, the Lopenei moved them to more hospitable lands than the island, which, while rich in natural resources, especially those of tin and copper, could not support much farming, if any.
>>
>>2349572
It appears that most mages in the nations these various representatives are from do not have anything that would cause them to be called "high ranking", though their magic scale is the same as yours, perhaps due to the interconnection of nations through trade. Some, you'd wager, would be ranked close to level 4.

>>2349585
You're just genuinely having a good time, and as the party begins to liven up a little, you are there in the middle of it, chatting with various dignitaries and just people in general. A nice night, this, and for winter, the weather isn't bad, especially with so many people crowded around.

The moment the king begins to speak though, it as if the party came to a halt altogether. In Ehwazi, he sings; and it's not bad. Slowly but surely, the Lopenei around him join in, and Dovan, who is seated by his side at an enormous table with more than enough seats for everyone present, does so as well. Many ghouls and gnolls stay silent, of course. As the sound reverberates on the sturdy walls of this hole in the ground, it pierces upwards, and you swear by this point it must be audible in the city. Then, voices drift off, until only the King's remains. His voice grows quieter, and quieter, and then stops altogether, as applause echoes.

"Countrymen, friends, dignitaries, and several other words I could use, I have great news tonight. For, at last, the war to repel Reptian aggression has come to an end. Took a while, didn't it?"

The king chuckles, but most are now gossiping among themselves, and for good reason. A war to repel the Reptians? That's not how you had heard it.

"Victory at last means that our allies, the Contaw, remain free. Or, rather, freed. That is the other thing I must say. I do not believe it is right for we Lopenei to declare ourselves rulers and forcibly keep the Ringborn and Contaw as states to fuel our wars. May their first night of freedom be a fun one."

By the end, the king's cadence had completely changed, petering out as the chatter finally superseded his own voice. Even his own men are talking quietly. His face is a blank book as well, but as Wid takes this opportunity to gesture any of you who wished to speak to him onwards, it appears that his mask has reasserted itself, albeit not a physical one.

"My Ieran friends, what would you have of me?"
>>
>>2349744
"We have mostly come to learn of you and the war you wage against Reptia, the spout it as an aggressive action on your part but Ier knows well of Reptia's appetite for conquest. If you could explain how this war was started and what now is the result of it."
>>
>>2349744
Tell us of those you liberated, compliment his outfit
>>
>>2349756
The king's lined face grimaces.

"Ah, really? I suppose we hadn't truly interacted over the matter, though I'll admit one reason for the invitation was to assure you no ill will against your country. Rather, Reptia has had allies on the continent below for quite some time, who were eager to invade the Contaw, a people who we had subjugated in my father's time. We have triumphed, thus ensuring their freedom, but I came to the decision to release them after some careful thinking. Their nation, I worry, would not truly prosper until set free, and neither would the Ringborn... I have long held these thoughts, but not expressed them until now. Look at me, and you see someone aged, yes? I am 167 years old, in truth, and consider that lifespan considered against yours. For a whole lifetime of yours, I have thought of freeing the Contaw, and with a reduced military, it is my belief that even if we tried to hold onto them, it would lead to massive casualties for both sides. That lifetime has not been lost to nothing, though, perhaps it's this advanced age that gives me the liberty to do this. If I am killed tonight, tomorrow, or years down the line I fall to old age, it matters little now. This is most likely the last great move in my reign. I leave things to my son to decide.

Still," he giggles.

"I must admit the look on some of the nobles' faces was pretty good. I can't tell if they were soiling themselves or ready to kill me."

>>2349772
The King thinks for a moment, before shaking his head.

"I've liberated them not so I have to speak for them now. That is up to them. I can however, introduce you to diplomats. For now, let me retire though. If I live not to see the morning, well, my task is done."

He totters off, seemingly a bit drunk himself.

You have a bit more of the night to celebrate, but the majority of conversation will most likely be concerned with the king's decision. It is up to you.
>>
>>2349793
Tarin will head over and talk to the Ringborn of their newfound freedom.
>>
>>2349793
Zelon heads over to the Contaw diplomats.
"Greetings, Representatives of the Contaw Nation. I am a trader from Ier and would like to open diplomatic Channels within our nation. Many in Ier are... Averse to gnolls, however it is due to previous encounters with gnolls called the Opetians. I'm certain we can at least make some sort of attempt to remain friendly. What is your nation's stance on Reptia, or of Isarn?"
>>
>>2349800
As you enter the group, you hear a comment about how you're not sure if there'll ever be another king who holds both titles of Liberator and Tyrant, and the opinion seems much the same around the group. While they are ecstatic at this turn of events, their talk remains still of war, and who can blame them? The king seems to not have cared if this sparks a civil war, and ultimately, that could mean that despite his dream of preventing the mass casualties he talked about, it seems he's perhaps just caused it. Another man wonders if the king's just said it because of how much he had imbibed that evening...
>>
>>2349812
"Reptia can rot, and Isarn we have no qualms with, why?" an intoxicated diplomat states plainly.
>>
>>2349823
"The Nation strongly dislikes Reptia. Perhaps we can agree upon that, and perhaps find allies within each other in the future. Isarn is another nation Ier holds dislike for, due to a man named Ier who claims to be the creator of our nation residing there, and hating us for it, and seeks our destruction."
>>
*walks into Zelons conversation in a drunken state*

“Fucking Gnolls! The only thing worse than a Reptian is a Gnoll.a bunch of fleabags and fags.”
>>
>>2349829
"Your population wants to kill us, though, yes? Can we talk when we're all a bit sober-er-urh-URGH!"

The gnoll throws up on your shoes.

[Session End]
>>
>>2349793
Chat with the locals more and maybe try to grease some wheels to learn how to candle or ask if anyone sells those turtles? Do purple patterns mean anything?
>>
As you leave, it becomes clearer that there is something in the works against the king, and Wid chooses to leave with you as the self-same captain from before picks you all up early two mornings past. In the distance, as the sun's light grows, you swear you can see a large crowd moving... the captain says it's nothing, but he does make a detour to grab supplies in a small base he has in a hidden cove near the Eastern Lopenei (as you deign to call them) capital. Within a few days you are finally on track back home, with Ierok growing by two men and from what the captain grabbed, a significant amount of wealth. This is further added to as Morpi returns with with promises of men following him back from what he described as "a town of murder," whatever that means. Slowly but surely, they do, numbering 300 or so. Even more than that though, he negotiated a treaty to get the town they come from, a small enclave in the northern ashlands, to declare themselves a part of Ier in return for semi-annual caravan visits and protection.

Diplomatically of course, what you thought you saw was confirmed in coming months, as a several way war splits the shrunken nation of East Lopen. The Lopenei are fighting an internal war, while nobles lead small armies against the weakened Contaw. None attack the Ringborn, but there are rumors of Reptia (despite its loss) and Isarn having an interest in getting involved. This may be a conflict to watch...

The Ierok Artisan law has interesting consequences, as while it encourages immigration from foreign nations, it is also has caused some protest by the Tannish, who fear that all their artists will be pulled to Ierok at the cost of their own city. This may also be a reaction to the independence given to the Ringborn, causing a potential furor within Ier going forward. Reptia however, seems to be taking it quite well... you think. They haven't truly responded yet.

Instruments in society have been growing in importance recently, especially drums and rattles; taking on a more spiritual importance, drums and rattles are perhaps being picked up on due to their similarity to the heartbeat, something closely connected to blood. Regardless, in funerals and births, it is has become tradition for a single drum to be made by the husband's family out of whatever animal they can buy's skin, and the other needed materials. The animal in general must be killed by the husband. This begins to beat as the child is born, and at the funeral, well, you get the picture. It is given to the mother. Rattles serve less of a role, but have more varieties, as many forms of plants in the grasslands provide ample material to experiment with. Wood is used for childrens', and stone for adults. Those with enough money and the will to buy it may also pick up a bronze one.

...other than that fascinating news, you've also heard that Reptia has done something about the trade embargo; they are melting down any Ieran coins traded in their parts and using them for various government endeavors. This could have interesting ramifications.

While the idea to change what the rings are made of is taken well among the Concord, the general public does not necessarily agree. They see no point in making their currency worth only as much as the metal it's tied to, especially with no forms of compensation by the government for this. As silver's by and large only source is also held by the Metalar family, the fact that the vote was initiated by Tarin is not missed by the public. Thus, they hoard their money, and buy less, which is messing with prices quite a bit as less currency is within circulation and thus people buy less and so on and so on.

Reptia shows no signs of letting up, and neither does the war; in fact, as the new year dawns, they declare war once more as their ally, a group called the Lukidor, enter the war. The same group who attacked the Contaw the last time, they wish to do it once more while the nation is weakened; for the Lopenei civil war has ended in the nobles usurping the king and declaring the government a council until the land is retaken. This has caused the Ringborn to ban their men working for the Lopenei, and rumor is, ally the Contaw. The Lukidor themselves are also gnolls, which furthers the complex racial and political dynamic of the war, one of a size never before seen...

>>2352059
It seems that those water mages in Ier do not wish to be tied down to pay, or at least, not to your faction. You manage to get one or two, though low-leveled.

Likewise, you learn little about the war than what is already is known, and none are willing to ally a naval faction in a war taking place on land.

>>2352073
You finally manage to figure out the staves and their runes; first off, the two runes on the stave are fire and container, which is simple enough when you ask the Ehwazi, but how it worked was something different altogether. Ultimately, it took a high leveled mage of yours to figure out the issue, for while you could copy the staff, the magic bolt was unrepeatable, despite some, ahem, interesting attempts. You finally happened upon the answer when he tried to replicate a feeling he had inside himself sometimes when he used magic, as if there was a well within himself that he could use to power it, and tried to have that power interact with the staff. Suddenly he felt part of it leave his body, and enter the staff, before he passed out. When he awoke, he tried the staff, and wouldn't you know, it worked. He calls this power, the "soul". However, attempts at replicating this have met in the deaths of other mages, showing that whatever power this is, it is not to be trifled with.

>>2352077
You find some deposits of nickel. As for the personal project, while you swim around some, the serpent does not seem friendly, nor willing to interact.

>>2352079
It appears that you can't just tame eagles... instead, Kato's grandson found an alligator turtle. There appears to be a theme going on here.

>>2352127
While there are few mages in the world, and fewer in Ier, you gather six or seven and form your group. They are a mixed bunch, though earth is slightly over-represented, and fire under-represented.

>>2352132

On the shores of the northernmost lake you have begun your project of increasing Ieran (and your own faction's) influence over the area, hoping to compete with Isarnite influence. While little is found outside the lake's borders, Makh-Khor most definitely appreciates your efforts, as do those along the edge of the lake. You also encounter more friendly Isarnites than you necessarily were expecting. However, the growth of Larok is slowed by these efforts. Pilgrims are less than quick in coming as well, but the name you give the lake is spreading.

>>2352792
The Garden District is humble in its origins, but it is growing popular for ghoulish citizens. One criticism, however, is that it is too small and roads too narrow for navigation by Ehwazi residents.

The High Priest travels from land to land, spreading the teachings of Rok (and himself) wherever he can, and learning much of the world around him. Yet, as he does this, a cult of personality has begun to spring up around him. This worries him, as it perverts the original intention of his works.

>>2353892
You are unable to tame a familiar, and it soon becomes clear why, because even the beasties held by the Painted are nigh uncontrollable, and the giants don't actually have any.

>>2356770
Your clan succeeds in its endeavors, and the people of Ierok are finally able to enjoy olive oil with their meals. Along with your heavily fish and grain based diet, it is a nice supplement.

Though Reptia's melting of rings is something done at their own expense, they show no sign of stopping as the ring exchange is set up. In fact, even the new rings you use are being melted down when they get their hands on them. The ring system is now as follows:

Silver comes in 1s, called dingoes, and 10s, called emus, while jade is used for 100s, called elephants.

In foreign affairs, reports are coming in of boats mysteriously sinking in the war as well. At the same time, spring has begun.

Early in this past year, 28 ghoul mercenaries arrived in Ierok, settling down on the outskirts of the city. Erecting a campsite, they set about making money, but they didn't just accept minted coins, accepting oddities and other kinds of trinkets as well, creating an open clear space to challenge others, enticing them with the opportunity of making money from beating a merc, alongside this, they took bets from anyone participating in the audience. After a few months, one of the 28 came out clearly on top, he called himself Lokhran, and he took it upon himself to start making this area a more permanent residence for them all, looking to use the funds they have raised so far to create a building large enough to house them all. Choosing the most well spoken of the mercenaries, Khar, as his second in command, Lokhran is preparing to make contact to the major players in the capital, setting the pieces in place for his long term plan.

Further expansion of instruments has led to the design of a new instrument, called the Boneqing. Originally designed with, well, bones, further work has led to designs with rocks and metal of varying sizes, which, when polished, produce tones that differ based on their shape, size, and distance from a rope and wood base. Their tones greatly differ from our drums, and produce hope that a different form of percussive instrumentation may be in our future.

Other news comes via the High Priest, Fah'layn; he reports that the spider vassals of the Lopenei have begun to spread out towards the coast south of Isarn, and that he has learned a bit of what they do. Living in harmony with nature, they believe themselves to be the guardians of all creatures that are not sentient, especially insects. This explains their neutrality in all conflicts so far. He also reports the growth of an independence movement in Isa.

The Bloodguard and Bloodriders are grown and assembled respectively. Meanwhile, the war appears to have ended in a major victory for the forces opposing the Contaw, the Lukidor claiming their land and the Lopenei forced to a draw. The monarchy, meanwhile, has been reinstated in Eastern Lopen, and ridiculously, the previous king is now back in power. The Ringborn remain at peace, of course. News also comes from Morpi Metalar once more, informing the nation that Ier at some point in the distant past had founded a town called New Jera, with him having that name then. They came from a place or thing called "humanity", and even flourished, before he did something that forced him to flee south. His path is traceable all along the mountains.

The navy is repaired and modified, though the exact number of boats won't be counted for a while... but in the mean time, several things have happened. First off, the Reptians are being invaded by... something... again. They're not having the best of luck, are they? While the Isarnites are backing them, this appears to be the same group that were sinking the ships.

On top of that, Isarn has lifted all its restrictions against Ierans, and appears more willing to approach you in diplomacy. While some are protesting this, strangely, this appears to be an initiative led by Ier. In another issue of diplomats approaching you, the Lopenei are willing to accept the proposal given decades ago about a free trade agreement, and lastly, you have heard word from Makh-Khor about some of these "humans" Ier apparently wrote about visiting them.

Ah, and the Golden Age shows no signs of slowing down, with the independence movements dying down.

"Reptia and Ier have not always been on the best of terms, and for good reason. One was always born to dominate the other; though this has been staved off in time. However, at this point, those who hold the power in Ier see no other option now than to finally assert that claim over Reptia. Your nation is standard in resources, and ours, while perhaps not lacking, is rich. For a population as large as Ier's, it is natural then that you were always a target. You all have served your purpose, and a brave one at that, in getting shafted by both gnolls and giants, but now you must join or risk angering your neighbor. What Ier has sent us here to ask of you today is not partnership but is bootlicking, recognition of our dominance in the form of tribute and a swearing of loyalty to form a greater whole on this delta, whose name is determined. Make no mistake—we ask for the surrendering of sovereignty, but also the swallowing of pride and admitting of fealty."

The letter sent back is simple:

"We refuse, based on sovereignty and economic reasons. With new territories for our allies, as well as gaining a possibly military alliance in Isarn, we cannot see the value in Ier declaring war. These savages emerging from the sea pose a threat to both of us, thus, attacking now will just destroy us both, and allow other nations to fill the gap made by such a foolish move. Alas, on top of that, if these threats persist, we will have no choice but to defend ourselves.

You were unaware there was a new leader elected in Reptia. What will you do?

Bring all fighting age men and rally them for war in Ierok as we have done many times before. The sub tyrant and the fleet commander will take it from there.
>>
>>2357513
The Fleet will be given to command by the Riverisa, ever faithful and our naval experts. They will sail to claim the islands off of our shores from the Reptians while they dont expect us.
Meanwhile Baer elects Tarin Metalar as Sub Tyrant, few are so versed in the art of war, he is to bring the pain to the Reptians and purge all whom get in his way. But the Tyrant makes it clear he wants prisoners (ghoul only with the exception of maybe high rankers), VIPs are to be taken back to Ierok, alive preferably and the bodies of the magi brought back intact.

As the halfway mark of the year is reached, roughly 5,000 men begin a march towards Reptia, with another 1,500 remaining in Ierok, to guard the city. Thus, as the first footsteps ring out in the grasslands, another war begins... yet, as you move towards the river, your watch towers report ships entering the delta, and fanning out, while the fleet commander has yet to give his orders.

It is the 2nd of the 6th month of the year, Suwez.

How do you respond?
>>
>>2357613

REGULAR SUCCESS

While overall losses were kept to a minimum due to the sheer amount of arrows being fired, roughly 5 ships were sunk by returning fire from the enemy, literally, with the flaming arrows indicating just exactly what their tactics were going to be. As this took place over the course of a day, our men managed to get across the river immediately after, but as they did so, diplomats back at Ier received a letter from Isarn.

"Reptia is dealing with invaders that could turn to threaten both you and Isarn in turn, and on top of that, Ieran aggression will not be tolerated by neither the Isarnite public nor I. Though we have sympathy due to the previous wars waged by Reptia, this does not mean that acts of war will go overlooked. Please remember the balance of power in the region before you overstep your own authority.

Dear Lord-Minister of Ier,
Reptia has been offered a vassal position to Ier much like Eastern Lopen shares with you. Reptia has however rejected this notion and would rather fight a two front instead of accepting our aid in dealing with invaders. We however are willing to accept land claims that were stolen from Ier in ages past in exchange for ending this action. Please pass this letter on the your Reptian counterparts and if they accept we shall end this war.

Though the beginning of the raids went well, the 14th signaled the start of something darker. While your scouts did not believe the army would be near you until the 20th, some men that neared Azh-Al faced a force of cavalry near 1,000 who were completely unexpected. While we carry on, roughly 150 men died during that ambush, with another hundred or so being injured. This can perhaps be attributed to over-ambition, as some of the men split up in order to take down targets faster, but on top of that, a bit of alcohol may have been a contributing factor. Either way, in these abandoned lands, that was a bit of a blow to morale, and, ahem, sobered some men up quite quickly.

What will you do as the enemy army approaches?

As you meet between a tributary of the first major Reptian river and Tarom, the enemy appears to be over the upper limit of the expectations of the scouts, coming close to 5,250 men or so. Among them, there do appear to be 250 berserkers, some giants, and ghouls; gnolls do not number among them in any large numbers. They themselves have giants on their flanks, ghouls towards the middle, and berserkers slightly behind both groups, though positioned more behind the giants. Arrows tearing through the flesh of giants, it does help that as soon as they come within a closer distance of you, they begin to run. While this makes them that much easier to cut down, they are followed by the berserkers, who, while not quite keeping pace with some of the faster (and larger) ones, appear to be using them as shields before they crash into your forces. The pursuit quickly kills some 400 or so, with the main of that being giants who were unable to fall back, and ghouls defending their allies. Another 250 taken prisoner consist of ghouls, while the rest, some 3,550 remaining (with 1,050 dying during the battle) flee quickly back towards the river as they put themselves just out of reach, even as the cavalry works to harass them. You set up camp for the evening and prepare to make your next move, as the next day comes.

It is the 20th of the 6th month of the year, Suwez, and those back in Ierok have received another letter from an exhausted looking messenger, once again from Isarn.

"We will repeat ourselves; what you are doing is foolhardy, and if you persist, Isarn will see it as an act of aggression against themselves as well, because this is a threat to all ghoulkind, not Reptia alone. In this we must act as a continent, and by continuing to move as a rogue element, you present a threat to the rest of the nations of the continent. As it is, we already have several thousand men in Moundtown assisting Reptia with the sea issues, and we will give them leave to do as they will against you as well if this foolish war isn't brought to an end. Vassalisation is something you are now moving forward with by force, and that is an act of aggression in and of itself. On top of that, any claims about this being about land are moot when, looking at the historical record, the borderlands were neutral, and not Ieran property.

- The Lord-Minister of Isarn."

...Either drunk from the spirit of victory, or another spirit altogether, the men once more have a hard time raiding, this time moving towards Tatom, which apparently also has cavalry men stationed there. Either you've failed, or they've learnt from their previous failures, for, while not as bad as the incident at Azh-Al, you are repelled. The rest of the raiding goes fine, though the raiders are getting a little fretful at this point, not in anxiety, but wishing to have one major raid go a bit better than the previous two. Still, the army now finds itself at the head of the major river, where an unknown source causes the water to flow southwards into the ocean. ...at this point, the raiding party drinks on the go. Easier that way, right? Yes, except when you torch the river to see what would happen, and get attacked by some villagers. The villagers died of course, but, suitably embarassed, the raiders returned back after setting several farmsteads on fire. Not enough to cause much damage though.

***

Back at Ierok, the last letter of the month is received.

"It was confusing to know what exactly you were saying when the Tyrant is meant to be in charge of all diplomatic affairs, but I receive three letters instead. The invaders are of a force large enough to be called a horde, with number ranges estimated to be up to two thirds of your population, at least. They live in the sea, and do not speak our language, nor do they appear to wish to; true savages. However, if you believe you will be receiving some sort of tribute to end the war, you are gravely mistaken. If you need proof, then how are you meant to check other than ending the war? Your own merchants hear the tales, and some have even fallen to these sea folk. This is your final chance to end it now, for if you do not respond in peace, Isarn will have no choice but to assist Reptia by any means necessary.

- The Lord-Minister of Isarn."
>>
>>2358295
Very well we will see this enemy you speak of, I will send a messenger to withdraw our forces however are you telling me you can't even send a body? Either way we will be in touch, the lands are dangerous these days.
>>
Though the raiders finally succeed in getting some damage done before the messenger arrives to withdraw the forces, as the men turn home, a last letter is received from Isarn on the 9th of Septwaen:

"If you need proof, then join us in the war; do that and we will make sure you receive more than just the territory stolen from you, but the islands in the bay, as well as other non-continental holdings of Reptia.

- The Lord-Minister of Isarn."

It has recently come to my attention that we have had an amount of hemp which we could have long ago have planted and started growing. Honestly i don't know what my father and grandfather were thinking, well i guess i have some ideas about what was going trough grandpas head but there is no excuse for father! Let's try and fix these mistakes by planting it and begin to cultivate it.

Personal projects for 331: Psoli has been trying to find a way to get ownership of some shark teeth and other similar bones. He keeps muttering something about white pearls and unseen knifes.

Personal project for 341: With the recent increased interest in music and musical interest, Psoli has taken to training some of the orphaned and poorer Capans to follow him while singing some catchy tunes.
>>
>>2374174
You begin to cultivate the plant, as Psoli gathers teeth and bones for whatever his plan is. However, when it comes to music, his escapades are less than successful, as a small riot is started by the children, demanding more of the gruel they felt they were not getting enough of.
>>

Your first action successfully nets you more miners, but expansion does not come until later, though it is significant. As for establishing the smeltery, the creation is easy enough to make a small one, but the amount of resources required are beyond your capacity at this time.
