Theraski: They made me sing 'Solidarity Forever', chant: 'due pay, due work, no hours in hazardous environs' and 'Maintain Regulations.' Union creed.
I think the fire qualifies as 'hazardous', no one's apt to sign off on overtime. As for regulations. . .

Failure to engage other party in meaningful dialogue, check.
Apprehension of illegal substances and assets, check.
Kidnapping and unauthorized travel of a minor, check.
Exceptional cascading containment failure of volatile materials, check.

There's enough violations to bring down just about any enterprise - five counts kidnap, twelve assault, twenty-one and counting murders (They're still finding bodies), bombardment of civilians, nine ticks of battery (They were in my way!) and one fruit peddler sans license and... what am I doing? I have to fudge this report. It'll break Sams heart. I can't write 'incinerated a slum' on our claims report! Cogs I-- why am I even here?

Sign up with GyreCo to change the world, head fulla geniuses with diagrams that solve the universe. Free gyre energy, free gyre cars, free medical, free aid. Free gyre guns. Product pipelines are all paperwork, manhours and insurance claims on busted drones and burnt down city-blocks. And too many funerals. Medicals clocking in extra hours for everyone. Been shot three times, right hand still twitchy and all these new scars. We're head to head with a conspiracy a little too keen on knifeplay. I saw the fights coming, but not this many rooftop escapes. Or the mortars. Heh. Just the crew, the cogs, the gyres and a hostile work environment. Now here I am having kidnapped some Oroian girl and brought here half way around Vitas. At least Emilia is making her feel at home. A good big sister she is. They all try. Chip in in their own peculiar ways.
. . . Solidarity forever"

NEW PLAYERS WELCOME

Welcome to Gyrocite.

You play as an all-around "handy man" for an upstart company whose invention could change the world along with its partners. Your current job has you working with a gang lord to annihilate an enemy gang.

Don't worry about catching up or trying to understand it all. Just play along

Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2261020/

A quick start guide is there to explain general concepts. The full rules are here:

Don't worry about all the math. A character calculator is provided to make things easier here. Just make a copy for yourself. Sorry, can't give edit rights:

Gyrocite uses an AP system. You may perform as many actions as your AP allows.

All players can do the following moves:

[*Observe] 3AP 2d12+MAR+AP Hit: 16 Observe to discover information. The higher degree of success the more information revealed.
[*!Crouch] 3AP Crouch down. +10% gun damage. Take -20% damage from guns. Take +10% damage if attacked by melee. Moving takes 8AP. -1 sight profile -2 sound profile. Get back up for 1AP
[*!Prone] 3AP Lay on the floor prone. +20% gun damage. Take -30% damage from guns. Take +20% damage if attacked by melee. Moving takes 12AP. -2 sight profile -3 sound profile. Get back up for 3AP
[*Move] 4AP/2AP Move up to VEN. Spend 2AP to move half VEN rounded down
[*Interact] 3AP Universal action to interact with switches and other items found.
[*Reload] 6AP reload your gun/equipment once its ammo is depleted.
[*Item Switch] 6AP switch/equip an item from your inventory.
[*Use Item] 6AP Use an item. You may need to roll dice.
[*%Dodge] 4AP 2d12+VEN+bonus hit: 20; move ½ Ven out of the way of an incoming attack; add ap to make it more effective

All rolls are done using d24. The reason being is that 24 has many factors enabling several dice combinations to be rolled.

Gyrocite is a full on TTRPG but is mathematically consistent enough that once a single class is learned the others can be played as well. Character creation is robust and varied enough that no two characters are exactly the same. If you'd like to jump into the thick of things now then simply copy a sheet from here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uRMvILWgQcC_R96y6GH7uUTRKu4DOMtjkt9DrbOL7nA

Each sheet has a description that goes in to detail on how to play that specific build. (I'll get the rest of those loadouts eventually. Seriously just ask for help on discord)

Character creation takes investment but is rewarding. Train yourself and figure out your abilities by trading in your Merit Point for certain abilities. You raise Stats, or acquire PRQs with them.

Grigory moves around Alpha team unloading all four shots into the machine gunner shorting his shield in the process. Despite the clean shots the enemy still stands. Now Grigory faces Alpha team alone without any shield. Lirenis jaunts her and Maria out of the burning clinic and into the relative safety of the burning alleys. The girl is barely conscious but otherwise okay.

Fortuna does a mad sprint towards the beach. She finds an airship waiting with two crewmembers.

????: Oooooiiiiiiiiiii! Wait you’re not one of the handymen. Who are you?

Quen: Hey I think she’s with us. Cat told me there was a few locals helping us. What in seven hells happened? The whole hillside is in flames.

Alex drags a single doctor along with him right into the line of a mortar. Luckily he adeptly dodges out the way with the doctor in tow. The rest of the crew make their way to the beach, except for Prefect. The sun slowly sets on the hill and the sun paints whatever is left of the scorching hill a golden hue.

Prefect has until 6pm EST tomorrow to move. A bot order has been assigned.

Some reminders and rulings:
-Parries and dodges will not trigger if the threat is not “seen” unless you have the appropriate PRT. Stop having your back against an enemy and preparing dodges.
-Facing will cost 1ap. I've been smart processing this for a while and I won't be as generous now.
-LA-GFEs like other GFEs are not visible unless damaged. Ending your turn in one is ill-advised
-Conditional attacks require specific PRTs. I will not smart-process that.
-Be very clear with your movement. Several of you apparently want to commit suicide.

Tartaruga: Crusher was right to trust you.

Tartaruga rushes off to engage Alpha team. His relentless attacks while fierce aren’t enough to break through. They are enough to fall the large area GFE that Ludwig is carrying. Soon Ruby and her crew are helpless.

Ruby: Fall back! Ricardo, cover our escape. Ludwig I’ll help you get this charged back up! Ludwig call off any more Mortar strikes this trasheap is done for.

The rest of Alpha Team continue to hunt down the crew. El Mamut is tag teamed by a dual shotgun wielding gunslinger and pugilist. He takes a haymaker pushing him back and reopening his wounds. The shots would have clearly destroyed his shield had it not been for Catrina’s imbuement. Gairan takes a nasty hit and ends up prone behind Julien unconcious.

Antonio: I’ve sent Quen and Scipio with the airship to you lot. Get to it as fast as possible!

As Grigory moves through the smoke his face settles into a more serious expression.

If Tartaruga continues the attack, they will get surrounded and they will die-- but they might be able to take out the woman or the minigunner first. Grigory will have to see if they can kill another and then turn around and save the other man before he bleeds out.

He frowns and tightens his grip on the tiny pistol, barely able to get his pinky finger through the trigger guard. He hopes he will have enough time and enough bullets to finish the job.

> Some questions:
> The Aegis protects from attacks made from within the field?
I thought that was one of the big balancing mechanics
> Can I boost myself over the overheat threshold to turn the shield back on?
Rather than rely on the natural regeneration.
> Does it still cost 6 AP if you're taking an item out with a free hand?
If it does I will have to combine switching to the field kit with another dead draw.
> What is this +30%? Competence? For how long?
> If I observed the minigunner, would I be able to see if his wounds have been treated? Would I be able to set up a conditional then to attack or retreat?
I would not try attacking if they are healed -- I have no chance
> Do I have to get onto the airship to complete the mission?
>>

You got some old info.

LA-GFEs like the Aegis makes a "network" of GFEs. It's less of a giant fishbowl and more a central user and several nodes. Being within the network when it recharges still causes adverse effects. Originally it was a fishbowl but that was extremely problematic as certain skills were inoperable and frankly useless not to mention there were half a dozen scenarios that broke everything. This isn't even mentioning how easy it was to accidentally kill teamates with it.

You can boost yourself back to the threshold but you will not have your shield back until your next turn. Other wise high mar/ap characters like Alex would be nearly immortal. If you lost your shield on enemy phase then boost it back up on action phase, you still don't have the shield functioning until AFTER the next enemy phase. There's at least a single turn of vulnerability.

Having a free hand does let you equip items without using AP but I'm wary of cycling weapons to cheese skills. If you're picking up a weapon off the floor or a disarm those can be immediately used. If you're taking it from your inventory even with a free hand I'm cautious in how it's handled. Common rule is if I have to edit/redo sprites it's costing at least 6 ap because that is laborious but necessary.

+30% comp was from Tartaruga using a prt. Steward OP

Without medical training it will be immensely difficult. Doing anything without the requisit PRT/PRQ is possible but don't expect success even in most ideal circumstances.

If you don't go on the airship you'll be stranded trying to walk back to a city through dangerous and hostile territory

Tartaruga runs back to regroup with the main force without noticing Ludwig and Ruby. They pursue and end up right behind Lans. Ruby fires a shot at Julien

Lans: Don’t interfere. This is a duel.

Ruby: Men… Fine, We’ll not interfere but we’ll be passing. Clean this up quickly.

The rest of Alpha team display their competence with chilling proficiency. The other brawler runs right into a Menino ambush and deftly dodges their prepared attacks. The Alpha gunner follows close behind firing her twin pistolas shorting the shield of a Menino as well as Prefects.

Gazing passively at the woman bold enough to shoot him then belittle the honor of a duel the young chrysian chuckles gently.
"the honor of a viper to go with the beauty of one as well, eh, miss Ruby?"

Julien looks over his shoulder at the people behind him shrugging as he returns his gaze to his enemies

"Very well then."

He squares his chest, and twirls his sword in a dizzying flourish before ending the skillfull display in a salute and launching into an attack.

The lion roars, Julien whittles down the Lans’ GFE in a swift flurry of attacks and strikes true. The damage is significant but does not completely wound.

Lans: Arrgh dammit

Ludwig trains his now whirling gatling gun on Julien. Lans sticks a hand out.

Lans: I SAID DO NOT INTERFERE!

Ludwig: You’re brother won’t forgive me.

Lans: Then go after the two at the foot instead.

With some seeing their comrades still in danger the crew turn back to aid them.

Quen: Guys hurry up. The airship has no arms and if they get close enough they might try to shoot it down. Unless.. Scipio is it ready?

Scipio: We can do it but Leo did warn me to not have any GFE’s running

Quen: Alright. We’re going to fire the large area GFE we have equipped on here. Whatever you do, DO NOT try to board with yours on. The field is much more massive and powerful than the personal ones you all use.

The Meninos hold a valiant defense occupying Alpha team. They manage to do some damage but one of theirs falls. Catrina’s dynamo whirls as a beam hits the ground. The air gets noticeably cooler until a wall of ice suddenly materializes

Catrina: Hah! It’s a lot stronger than I tho- HEY

Tartaruga drags her away to safety.

Tartaruga: Bem linda. I’ll lead them away. You run with the injured.

The lion’s pride is able to use the way to escape into the grass. He’s injured but not out of the fight.

Frustrated, Ruby barks orders and has her squad move eastward..

Ruby: Seven damn them! We’re sustaining too many loses and they’re escaping. New plan pursue through the neighborhood. We’ll take a position on the hill and shoot them down. Ludwig call mortar team again. Tell them to target the beach. We can’t let that airship escape!

Alpha team is surprised to walk right in front of Prefect.

"Vigliacchi, è sempre un vigliacco! Nessuno capisce cosa significhi combattere un duello?"

Julien spits in disgust, flicking the fresh blood from his blade he walks into the grass.
He begins to shout, while he does so his handsome face forms into a displeased grimace to match the stentorian timbre of his voice as it thunders over the sounds of the dying favela, unwavering in it's Clarion call, demanding obedience.

"You will step from this grass, give me your name and your weapons, and surrender, ser. In exchange for this honor I will give you your life. Otherwise you will die -here in this unremarkable field, outside of a junk heap shanty town- do you think your brother would be proud to hear you died pointlessly? To hear you died, cut down running like a coward when you could have easily lived? I've lost my brother, as you'll probably know if your group does it's research, the pain I feel from the hole he left behind is nearly unbearable, and nothing, not even revenge will bring him back."

"I'm sure your brother would feel much the same...I'm sure you've seen what a wave of gyre-charged air can do to a man with no GFE. Yield and live."

The crew continues to trek towards their escape. The airship has a distinct whirring sound. Much lower in pitch to their own GFEs but extremely familiar. Fortuna links with the LA-GFE and is surprised at the numbers.

Quen: Crazy isn’t it? And this is a low powered one!

Julien delivers an ultimatum to his opponent. He can’t be sure if the brawler has left or is still lurking. In any case there is no answer. He prepares a counter attack.

Ruby: Seven hells. Where are those damn mortars!

????: Dame! Many apologies. We’ve been beset by some locals. It’s some green mob!

Ruby: Green!?

Tartaruga: Don’t think we weren’t keeping an eye on you too. Meninos! Stop them in their tracks!

Ruby: !?!

Tartaruga finds his way behind Ruby slashing her back. Ludwig quickly turns around to fire at the gang boss but he deftly dodges out of their sight. Alpha team is cornered.

The Meninos stand firm holding the stairs. Alpha team tries to fire through with little effect.

???: Dame. Please return we’re being overrun!

Ruby: What! You can’t handle a couple of street rats?! Useless the lot of you!

Camila: Ruby, the damn hostages have escaped. They’re on an airship which… No way… it’s equipped with it’s own LA-GFE! That thing is massive.

Lars: We’re also injured and our shields aren’t holding up. We’ll need to retreat or we’ll lose Bravo.

Ruby: Seven hells… Keep going we’ll shoot them out of the sky!

An older voice comes through the line. It is calmer and practiced. As if every word is carefully chosen.

???: Abort Alpha team. You will fall back and recover Bravo. Even after the fiasco at Capital you still continue to leave a line open Ruby...

Alpha team responds in a panic: SIR!

???: Ruby while I appreciate the enthusiasm I have no qualms about the doctors’ escape. In business you must move in a way that any outcome leaves you profited. I never move otherwise. As for you Gyre associates. I must commend you for your work. You’ve been quite an asset for the Gyre’s and quite an obstacle for my ventures. If you ever find the Gyre’s employee lacking I could always use able handymen. I can guarantee my terms would be more than generous.

Ruby: Eldson sir you can’t be serious

Eldson: Silence Ruby. You’ve botched enough as it is. In any case handymen enjoy your victory. I must thank you for the mountains of data you gave me dealing with those thugs. A shame my subordinate decided to level the whole place, but these things happen. Send my regards to Samantha. It seems she’s been rather busy.

Defeated, Alpha team waits for a break in the line to fall back.

The last of the hostages board the airship. Relieved but surrounded by injured, the doctors quickly get to work on who they can despite their exhaustion. Jing-jing holds himself up against the mast of the airship. What few people that escaped are simply looking at the burning hill. What was once their home was now the aftermath of a battlefield between two medical firms. Such was the story all throughout Vitas.

With the way secured the crew make their way to escape. Despite how crowded it is everyone is glad to board.

[Mission End]

Stand by for mission aftermath.

>>
At this time I'll take any feedback. I'll be the first to say this mission took a lot longer than normal. I was over ambitious with the scope of this one. Still I learned a lot from it.
>>
A level 1 character has 12 total stats and 1 PRQ or 13 total stats. With your house upgrades your base level character is already at level 3.

Level = (total stats - 4) +PRQs

Taking money instead does not increase level limit.
>>
Just some clarifications on "Work Experience" aka levels.

At the start of the game all characters start at a base of 1 in each attribute and 9 attribute points to spend. Level is based off of total attributes and PRQs gained after that initial base.

I screwed up the level formula and it should be as followed. Level = (total attributes + PRQs) - 12

Progression is bought with attribute points and gets more expensive after using 12 points. This results in tiers. A break down is as followed

Increasing an attribute or obtaining a PRQ costs

Tier 1 level 1-12: 1
Tier 2 level 13-24: 2
Tier 3 level 25-36: 3

POTs can still be bought for 1 and don't count towards tiers.

Advanced PRQs such as {Fencing Expert} or {Pugilist} count as one level. They will have their descriptions redone to account for this change. You can use an extra attribute point to gain them instead of paying notes.

Some additions will require more work experience than others. In the world of Gyrocite you still have to pay your dues.
>>
There will be some changes to equipment:

Hades' whip now costs energy

Zeus dynamo has had a significant upgrade in energy capacity

Hades Pandor and Sophia now only requires being level 3 instead to borrow instead.

Aquilla Arms has now been incorporated into Rose and Tower Arms. All their equipment requires level 3 to borrow.

Keep in mind this is to have the equipment available to lend. You can still equip the or buy said items
>>
There will be some significant updates to the guide as well as some "restructuring" both data and plot wise. Expect a story phase later this week as well as where things will go. With that said it's a good time to work on your characters considering the following rewards.

>Two attribute points
>Ꞥ8000

Also if you guys can do a quick rundown on all your levels that would be appreciated.
