>Sergeant HIVE is no longer alive edition

Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

Despite the unexpected, grisly turn things took at the end of last night, you still had a wonderful time with your friends while it lasted. And while there are more than a few questions that need answering, theories that need investigation, and problems to deal with, you manage to get a good night's rest, and feel completely refreshed when you rise the next morning. You hit the showers to help yourself wake up, get dressed, brush your teeth, then head to the living room in order to see who's up and about.

Actually, most of the team is up and at it, with everyone but Robin and Starfire gathered in the living room and kitchen. Beast Boy and Cyborg are making eggs and bacon (one making theirs out of tofu), enough for everyone who wants them. Raven and Rose are sitting at one of the tables drinking some morning coffee and shooting the breeze, and Donna is fixing Silkie his breakfast.

"Good morning!" Cyborg greets as you enter. "You're just in time for breakfast!"

Beast Boy turns to you and grins. "I've made plenty of eggs and bacon! Help yourself!"

Cyborg gives him a stink eye. "Dude, come on, nobody wants that junk. Let him eat some real food."

The two of them start at each other, devolving into shouting and juvenile mockery toward one another after only a few seconds. How they manage not to drop or burn any of the food in the process is a mystery, but you suppose it can be explained away by assuming that they've had plenty of practice at this.

Donna, finishing with Silkie, smiles and wishes you a good morning before joining Raven and Rose at the table, a glass of orange juice in her hand.

I want to tell Beastboy that he should stop trying to use tofu as a meat substitute. Tofu is great, you only devalue it if you make it try to be something its not.
>>
>>2344923
Both Beast Boy and Cyborg can make some really good food, even if tofu isn't necessarily an "all the time" kind of thing. Partially because of this, and partially because you hope it will help reduce their fighting a little bit, you take some food from both of them, having enough for a pretty large breakfast. Once your plate is full, you walk over to join the girls at their table, taking a seat and digging in to the great food your friends made.

"Hello, Pete," Rose greets when you sit down.

"Hey," Raven greets before taking a sip of her coffee.

"Good morning," you greet pleasantly.

The four of you engage in some small-talk as Beast Boy and Cyborg serve everyone breakfast and ultimately join the group sitting at the table. As you talk with the bulk of your team (and Rose), the absence of two of your friends becomes more and more noticeable to you.

"Where's Robin and Starfire?" you ask after a while.

"Sleeping," Raven answers. "They were up all night."

"I found them out here when I woke up this morning," Donna tells you after swallowing a piece of bacon. "Robin was passed out at the computer, and Starfire was snoring on the couch. So I put the two of them to bed."

Robin working until he passes out, and Starfire staying by his side until she does the same makes sense to you, but you didn't know Robin could actually just shut down after a while. The guy's always working, always the first one up in the morning, usually the last to sleep. Maybe he was pushing himself more than he should have. And Starfire, she just seems determined to be by Robin's side while he tries to figure things out. From what the others tell you, she's the only one he lets stay with her when he's really deep in his research. It's kind of sweet.

"They might need their rest, but we still have work to do," Raven tells everyone, setting down her coffee mug. "I checked the main computer this morning. The police department confirmed that Sergeant HIVE is dead."

Most of the others seem disturbed, and even somehow a little sad about that. Donna seems to take it slightly better than most of them, and Rose seems relatively unphased, though she does get a slightly more serious expression when Raven gives the news.

"What happened to him?" Beast Boy asks.

"They haven't determined a cause of death yet," Raven answers. "At least, they hadn't when Robin talked to them. There were no wounds that look like they should have been fatal."

"Poison, then?" Rose asks.

"They're looking into it as a possibility," Raven tells her.

>>A. "Maybe we should try contacting them and find out if they've found anything."

>>B. "Maybe we need to wake Robin and Starfire. We can see if they learned anything last night."

I've been in pretty much every DC quest since back when /qst/ was /tg/ and let me tell you, this is the moment I'm always waiting for.

Once we discover its Snowflame, this game must go on pause as MoG runs a parallel game where we play Snowflame on his path from New Guardians to this quest. Anons all contribute in trying to capture his unique dialogue.

"So, we have nothing to go on as far as who did this?" you surmise.

"That's not quite true," Donna points out. "There was that message with his body. "Defiance is Death". Whoever did this obviously was trying to send a message to anyone that would stand against them. That narrows it down."

"Right, that would mean it had to be some kind of power player," Cyborg agrees. "And that's a much smaller number in Jump City than in a place like Gotham. Not too many gangsters, most of the "super villains" are more interested in theft than murder, and the ones that do kill are a lot fewer than the ones that don't."

"Robin mentioned gang activity increasing," Rose reminds everyone. "This might be one of the gangs showing everyone that they mean business. Killing a "super criminal" and hanging his body on display, that's got to be intimidating to most street thugs."

"Couldn't it be Blood?" Beast Boy asks.

"Maybe, but we don't have any way of knowing," Raven answers. "And even if we find out it's him, we don't know where he is or how to get to him yet."

"If you want my advice, start with the gangs," Rose suggests. "If they're picking up in activity, they're going to be something you need to deal with sooner or later, and it's a lot easier to put away a few super villains than a large, established criminal group. Besides, even if the gangs aren't behind it, someone involved might still know something."

"But we don't know where to start with the gangs, either," Cyborg points out.

>A. "We busted a drug dealer the other day. We could see if he knows anything."

>B. "Robin's been in contact with the police about these gangs for a little while now. He probably knows something."

>C. "The gangs aren't half the problem Blood is. We should focus on dealing with him."

"We busted a drug dealer the other day," you remind Cyborg. "We can see if he knows anything."

"I'm not sure how helpful a random dealer will be," Raven points out. "Especially if his gang is run by someone who did that to Private HIVE."

"It doesn't matter if he's scared of his boss," Rose tells her, standing up. "We just have to make him even more scared of us."

Raven gives her a look of disapproval. "That's not how we do things, Rose."

The white-haired girl looks ready to challenge that, but calms herself and sits down as Cyborg stands up.

"He might not know a lot," the mechanical man admits. "But he might still be able to start us on the right track. I say we look into it."

"Alright!" Beast Boy shouts, standing up. "Time for a little good cop, bad cop. Oh! I call the good cop! Or the funny cop, or-"

"No," Raven tells him bluntly. "You're not going."

Beast Boy's shoulders slump and he gives Raven puppy dog eyes, then turns into an actual puppy and continues giving her the eyes. For a second, it looks like she might actually crack, but that doesn't last long. She remains adamant on this, and you have to admire her willpower. Beast Boy could probably sway plenty of people with this routine.

"We need someone who will get us actual results," Raven tells him. "And we can't bring everyone."

"I'd say no more than two," Donna suggests. "And maybe Beast Boy's good cop-bad cop routine will work."

Beast Boy turns back into a human. "See?! Donna gets it! Come oooon, I've watched a million crime shows, I can do this!"

"I want to go," you tell the others.

Aside from Beast Boy, who's still all huffy that he's not allowed to go (you can't really blame him, poor guy hasn't got to do any hero work lately), none of the others visibly react to that in any sort of negative way.

"Alright," Raven agrees without argument.

"And I think Rose should go, too," you add.

Now, they look like they have problems with that. Well, aside from Rose, who smiles when you suggest her. She probably wouldn't be upset with that decision.

The others (particularly Raven and Cyborg) look a lot less comfortable with that. Beast Boy stops huffing long enough to look at you like you're out of your mind (you can practically hear him screaming "What?! I can't go, but she can?!"). Donna looks slightly unsure, but seems to largely shrug that off.

"I think that could work," she says, vouching for you and Rose.

"Really?" Raven asks with a raised brow.

Donna nods. "It'll be fine."

"I promise, I won't mess this up," Rose assures Raven. "You can trust me."

There's something strange about the look Raven gets on her face when Rose says that last part, but she buries it quickly, eyes moving to you as if silently asking if you're sure about this. You are, though you suppose if they say no, Cyborg would make a good partner for this. Or Starfire, if she was awake. The idea of her having to do an interrogation just seems funny.

Raven sighs. "Alright. If you two think you can handle it, I trust you."

"Good luck," Donna wishes, getting up and heading for the door. "I'm going to do some warm-up exercises, in case we have some fighting to do later."

"Not a bad idea," Cyborg comments. "Hopefully we'll have something to go on after this."

Everyone gets up and goes their separate ways (Cyborg's on dish duty, Beast Boy goes to play video-games, Rose mentions needing to get something out of the room she's been using). As you get ready to go get your suit on, however, Raven touches your shoulder.

"Be careful," she tells you. "I know that Rose will try her best, but you probably know by now that she's not the best when it comes to keeping a cool head. I agreed to let her go because you're going with her."

"Why?" you question.

"Well, first of all, the two of you seem to get along, so you might be able to help her stay calm," Raven answers. "And second, if she does lose her temper, you have a good set of powers to keep her from killing someone."

Well, when she puts it like that....

"I'll be careful," you promise. "But, have some faith in Rose."

"I do have faith in Rose," she tells you, her voice firm but soft. "I know she'll try her best to keep her emotions in check. All I'm saying is that she has trouble with it, so be careful. And good luck."

She walks away, then, asking Cyborg if he wants to play a round of chess once he's done with the dishes. As the two of them talk, you leave the living room, deciding to pay Rose a visit before the two of you leave. Any concerns you might have, how you want to approach this interrogation, any words of encouragement you want to give, this would be a good time to voice them.

The halls are empty, though, after a while, you can hear some noise coming from the training room, apparently having started her exercise. No sign of Robin or Starfire, so you guess they're still sleeping.

Reaching the guest room, you knock on the door. After a few moments, it slides open, revealing Rose. She's dressed back up in her combat gear, complete with some weapons clearly visible. That bandanna is back on her head, hiding her hair, nose, and one of her eyes. She's no longer Rose sitting and enjoying breakfast with her friends; she's Ravager, ready to get a job done.

You aren't sure yet if that comforts or worries you.

"Pete?" she asks, seeming a little surprised to see you. "You aren't in your costume."

"I wanted to talk before we leave," you tell her.

She pauses before speaking. "Alright, come in."

Ravager steps back and gestures for you to enter the guest room, which honestly isn't much worse than yours. It's really just missing the radio you keep there. Maybe you should invest in more things for your room sometime. Oh well, something to think of later.

"So, what do you need to talk to me about?" Rose asks, crossing her arms under her chest.

"I was wondering if you have any strategies in mind for interrogating this guy," you tell her.

"Really?" she asks, sounding genuinely surprised to hear that.

You guess the cold reception to her earlier suggestion would leave her feeling like nobody really wants to hear what she has to say. That, and the general lack of faith most of the others seem to have in her being a part of this must hurt. You can definitely see where the others are coming from with their fears, but at the same time, you were able to overcome problems similar to this. If you could do it, you have faith that Rose can do it, too.

"Well, I'm not sure the good-cop bad-cop routine is the best way to go," she admits. "I think there should be a progression to it. We'll start out calm, civil, even nice. But if he keeps refusing to cooperate, we need to be less so. Sometimes the best motivator for cooperation is fear. I've dealt with gangs and other groups whose members are terrified of their leaders. It might be like I said. We might have to make him more afraid of us than he is of them."

From a pragmatic standpoint, you can definitely see her point. But, you can also see why some of the others are not comfortable with this approach. In your current life, you have no real experience with this sort of thing. No doubt, when you were in HIVE, you were taught to use whatever means necessary in order to get information. You've made up your mind that you don't want to be the same person you were back then. But, if you're trying to do good, maybe the end justifies the means?

"What do you think we should do?" she asks, lowering her arms.

>A. "I think your way will work."

>B. "I say we should go with good-cop, bad-cop. You can be bad cop."

>C. "Good-cop, bad-cop, you can be good cop."

For a variety of reasons, I don't really want to go that far this time. The police aren't as comfortable with us or Rose as they would be with the more established Titans, we've never done this sort of thing before, this specific suspect may not actually have anything that incriminating to divulge, and we may be able to use Robin or Troia's connection with big time heroes to offer a way out of Jump City prison system if he is worried about retribution.

"I think we should go good-cop, bad-cop. You can be the good cop," you tell her.

She places her hands on her hips. "I think you meant to say I can be bad cop."

You shake your head. "Nope."

Her hands drop. "You're serious?"

It's hard to tell whether to laugh at her reaction, or give her a hug due to how genuinely surprised she sounds that someone is trusting her to do something nice. This girl definitely did not have an easy upbringing. That's to be expected with a super villain for a father, but still.

Well, at least she's in good company. You've all got issues.

"Alright," Ravager says, her tone uncertain. "Then go get dressed so we can get going."

A plan agreed upon, you rush back to your room, switch into your costume, and rush out the door, only to nearly slam face-first into Rose, who sidesteps just in time to avoid a collision.

"Ready?" she asks. "We'll take my motorcycle."

Somehow you never knew she had one of those. But, she has to have some way to get around, seeing as how she can't fly. You let her lead the way down to the garage, where you get a first look at her bike. Its color scheme is very similar to her costume, and there's a skull with an eye-patch painted on the front. Not exactly a heroic-looking bike, but it's still pretty cool.

Rose struts right over to it and hops on, which is when you realize there's no sidecar. You should have figured that. After a moment, you walk over and climb onto the bike behind her.

"Hang on," she instructs.

The two of you shoot from the garage and toward jump city, speeding through the streets at a pace on par with the R-Cycle and T-Car. Man, does everybody get cool vehicles but you? Maybe you should save up and buy one.

It doesn't take long to reach Jump City's Maximum Security Detention Facility. As the motorcycle moves toward the entrance, armored guards armed with blasters move to intercept you. Rose slows down, and allows the officers to approach.

"State your names and purpose for being here," one demands.

"Ravager and Kid Crimson," Rose replies. "We were sent by the Teen Titans."

The two guards look at one-another. The one that spoke to you takes out some kind of pad and begins entering something while the other guard keeps his blaster pointed at the two of you.

"The boy's ID checks out," the guard with the pad announces after a minute. "But I'm getting some conflicting results for a "Ravager"."

"Let me see that," the other guard groans, lowering his blaster and walking over to the first.

"See?" asks the first. "Two Ravagers."

The second one smacks him upside the head. "The one that's a girl, moron."

>Continued
>>
>Continued

"Oh, uh, right," the first guard says, clearing his throat. "Uh, you two are free to enter. But, what's your reason for being here?"

"Kid Crimson and Cyborg caught a drug dealer the other day," Rose explains. "We want to speak to him."

The second guard pulls out his walkie-talkie. "Tell the warden that we have two Titans here to see a prisoner."

You hear someone reply, and watch as the large metallic gate at the front of the facility begins to lift, exposing the only entrance that doesn't involve going over a fortified, well-guarded wall, or through the sewers.

"The warden will meet you at the entrance to the main facility," the guard informs you. "Go on in."

"Thanks," Rose tells him, speeding under the gate and into the walled prison complex.

She finds a place to park, and you let go of her as you climb off of her bike. The two of you start toward the facility's main entrance, where the doors open to reveal a tall, muscular man with dark skin and slightly graying hair.

"Hello," he greets in a booming voice that manages to be friendly as he addresses the two of you. "I'm George Roberts. I don't think I've met either of you before, but I've seen you on the news, Kid Crimson."

He shakes your hand, then looks over at Rose.

"What's your name, miss?" he asks her.

"Call me Ravager," she instructs, hesitating a moment before accepting his handshake.

"Ah, yes, I've heard of you," the man says after a moment. "Good to finally meet you both. Please, come inside."

He leads the two of you through the doors and into the main building. As you enter, you pass through the area where visitors wait to speak with a friend or loved one incarcerated in the facility, then are lead to the actual cells.

"So, what brings you two here?" the warden asks. "When the Titans come to visit, that usually means something bad's going on."

>A. "Cyborg and I caught a drug dealer a couple of days ago. We want to speak with him."

You want to let Rose get into her good cop role, and take some time to get yourself into the mindset for your bad cop role. So, while you walk through the prison, lead by warden Roberts, you keep quiet and let Rose do the talking.

"Kid Crimson and Cyborg apprehended a drug dealer the other day," Rose explains to him. "We think he might be able to give us information on some of the larger gangs."

"I can't tell you what a relief it is to hear that the Titans are going to do something about these thugs spreading through the city," the warden tells the two of you. "Street crime's always a problem, but we've managed to keep any large groups from getting a foothold in Jump City in the past. Without your help, I think that might change."

"Is it really that bad?" Rose asks. "What's been happening?"

"A massive increase in drug and weapons trade," the warden tells her. "Armed robberies, protection rackets, quite a few instances of violence between gangs, some of which saw civilians caught in the crossfire."

"Do you know anything about these gangs?" Rose asks him.

"Not as much as I'd like," he admits as the three of you begin to ascend a staircase. "But from what I hear, there's two main groups that have been on the rise. The Burning Blizzard, and the Blockbusters. Burning Blizzard's run by someone going by Snowflame. He does cocaine, and that's really all we know."

Sounds like the guy this dealer would be working for.

"The Blockbusters are run by someone named Roland," the warden continues. "All I know about him is that he's pretty cutthroat."

>A. "Anything else you can tell us?"

Rose seems to be doing just fine asking questions to the warden. You decide to let her keep at it, and continue to remain silent, taking a look around at some of the prisoners you pass.

There are people of all kinds around here. Most of them seem to be fairly "normal" human criminals, though you do pass the occasional freak, like some guy in a black suit that kind of looks like a giant light-bulb rocking back and forth in a corner, begging for the "scary girl" to go away. For some reason, a crow-bar is chained to the wall of one of the cells, and another cell contains only some wooden puppet that sits on the floor and stares blankly in your direction.

Weird.

Finally, you reach the man you're looking for. He sits in his cell, looking up as the two of you appear with the warden. He gives Rose a look of uncertainty, but when he sees you, you briefly register fear, then burning anger.

"Now, we usually give the Titans a good amount of freedom in these interrogations," the warden tells you. "But if anything gets out of hand, our security forces will be deployed."

"Got it," Rose tells him, suddenly sounding a little tense.

Taking a deep breath as the warden opens the cell door, she steps inside and gets ready to begin.

Why did we vote for Peter to tell Raven to have some faith in Rose if we don't have enough faith in Rose to tell her about Slade working with the Titans?
>>
>>2346090
Oh, that's a good question!
>>
>>2346090
More like Robin doesn't have faith in her and asked us to not tell her. And with him being the leader we decided to follow his words.
>>
>>2346101
Agreed. Its not our place to make that call. Its Robin's, and we'll respect his decisions. At least, unless we suddenly have a compelling reason otherwise.
>>
You can't use "Robin said" as an excuse when we never listen to Robin any other time. You either trust Rose or you don't. Robin wouldn't have trusted Rose to come interrogate this guy but that didn't stop Peter. Robin didn't even fully trust Rose to go to the arcade. When Robin trusted Beast Boy to be OK by himself and we didn't, why didn't Pete listen to Robin that time?
>>
>>2346094
I get the feeling this going to bite us in the ass now.
>>
>>2346090
To be fair, we didn't know her well enough. I figure we could talk to Robin though, if things go well in this mission specially.
It's better if she knows through us after all.

>>2346112
>why didn't Peter trust him them
Wanting to be sure someone is safe is different from spreading stuff all willy nilly.
It's not like we voted not to tell her because we didn't trust her, but because Pete didn't - know - if he - should - tell her, so we asked Robin.
>>
>>2346116
I mean, Pete refused Slade once at least. If this mission goes well, we can probably get Robin to acquiesce to us telling her.
>>
If you have to ask Robin if it's OK to tell her then you don't have faith in Rose. That's fine, it might even be the right call, I just hope we stop telling the other Titans to do what we won't.
>>
>>2346143
>you have to ask
Jesus christ dude. I'm telling you that we should try to make him trust her to the point he won't object. Do you know what acquiesce means?

Are you slow or some shit?
>>
>>2346151
Please don't insult me. All I wanted to say is that if Peter believed in Rose he would tell her about Slade whether or not the other Titans agreed with him. I'm not arguing for or against dropping the Slade bomb, btw, just requesting that we don't have Peter tell the other Titans to trust Rose when he doesn't.
>>
>>2346192
Alright, I can see why you'd defend that we be coherent.
>>
>>2346200
Thank you for your understanding.
>>
>>2346203
I get what you're saying, but I disagree.

>You can't use "Robin said" as an excuse when we never listen to Robin any other time.

As a player this is a bit frustrating because I vote in favor of Pete listening to Robin most the time. Even still, I believe your analysis is incorrect: Peter asked Robin how he wanted to handle it, and the act of asking alone means that Peter cares about Robin's opinion, and has enough reason to listen to Robin. Peter has gotten a better idea of Rose's character since then and so while he might now believe Rose can handle it, he would still be breaking a promise to a friend. The correct remedy would be to approach Robin and vouch for Rose, and have Robin tell her, privately, or perhaps with Peter present.

I can imagine scenarios in which Peter might believe breaking his promise to Robin and telling her is necessary, but we're not in that sort of scenario yet.
>>
>>2346253
As a player, I'm cool with listening to Robin, I think he gives good advice. I just personally felt that "Peter really does trust Rose but Robin said..." is a flimsy excuse, and I will be very frightened for Pete if it ends up coming up in the quest and people vote to try it on Rose. However, after thinking about it further, I do agree that it is possible that given what happened last night there is a very good chance that Peter has changed his mind extremely recently on Rose and there clearly hasn't been a good time to bring it up yet today. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what happens.
>>
>>2346301
>1/2
Agreed. I look forward to seeing what happens, but I want to defuse this particular bomb because I've seen it go off hundreds of times before in other media.

But first, regarding Robin:

I don't see Peter as being a defiant person. He's only gone against Robin's orders once, talking to Slade after having been warned about inviting Linus into Titans Tower. Even then (and in the Linus incident), Peter wasn't motivated by rebellion, he was motivated by curiosity, and the belief that he could handle the situation if things went south.

When Robin punished us for two weeks, he cut it down to one week after Peter's response, which demonstrated his disobedience was neither reckless or malicious. Peter was able to gather new intelligence (things Slade knew but that Robin did not know he knew), gave away no critical information, denied Slade a back channel (making him go through Robin), and had a get away plan.

Peter sometimes questions decisions, but never with the intent to undermine authority. On several occasions he's avoided options that would have had him do so. As far as I can remember, Peter's points are either valid and addressed, or the answer he gets satisfies him. I don't recall Peter ever getting an unreasonable order.

So 'Robin said' is not a flimsy excuse in my mind. Peter respects him as a leader and a friend. Even when Peter trusts his own judgment its because he thinks its the right thing to do.

Which brings us to Rose:
>>
>>2346301
>>2346331
>2/2
Peter trusts Rose more than the other Titans do, rightly or wrongly (so far, so good), and Rose appreciates it, but its not like Peter 'trusts' her to never fail. That'd be holding her to an unrealistic and unfair standard. She is going to slip up, get angry, maybe act rashly, and both Peter and Rose know it. What Peter is trying to do is act as safety net, to catch her when she slips up and give her the confidence to keep pushing herself forward. For now, the limits of Peter's trust are a function of what he's observed of her character, and his estimation of his power to absorb her missteps.

Telling Rose about Slade, presents a difficult calculation: Peter doesn't know enough about how Rose feels about Slade, about how big her response to the information would be, how much damage her losing her cool would cause, and how much of that damage he could personally prevent or clean up. With that many unknowns, does Peter trust her enough? I feel like doing so would leave the realm of trust and into the realm of faith, so I think the answer is 'probably not'.

But I don't feel comfortable keeping secrets to protect people from themselves. It feels wrong, even if I have to acknowledge that I might not be able to handle the consequences of doing so.

What to do then? Firstly, I still advocate against outright telling her because Robin put his trust in us, and I don't want to betray that trust. Instead, I advocate, after finishing our current mission, talking to him in private, and telling him that 1. We don't feel comfortable keeping it a secret from Rose. We've put our trust in her and she's returned that trust by opening up. We endanger that trust by keeping secrets and we don't want to do that. 2. Confess that we simply don't know enough to say she can handle it or not, and so we can not vouch for her, 3. Tell Robin he (we) should tell her anyway.

Its the right thing to do. Yes, there is a risk that she loses control, but what we can do as a team and as her friends is to be the safety net. Peter alone might not be able to catch her from a fall of that height, but all the Titans together can. If Robin, the Titans, and even Peter can't trust Rose enough to handle it, then they can put the remaining trust they need in themselves and each other to be able to get through it.
>>
>>2346331
I would like to apologize to you and everyone else that responded to me because I think I got caught up in getting (You)s and did a poor job of expressing the only thing I originally wanted to say. I just believe that if Rose suddenly knew everything that Peter knows, she would not feel like he has trusted her. That's why I didn't like that Peter told Raven to have faith in Rose.
>>
>>2346397
No worries. And I agree with the first part of your sentiment. I don't think Peter was wrong to tell Raven to have faith in Rose, but I understand your perspective. It could come off as hypocritical, but I think there's enough context that its okay. Regardless, as I mentioned above, I'd like to resolve that issue, because I am uncomfortable with keeping those kinds of secrets from people.
>>
So, are we telling her that her dad came to the Titans offering to "help" against our "dad"?
>>
>>2346652
We have not resolved that one way or the other.

If I had my way, after we interrogate this guy, we talk to Robin about feeling uncomfortable keeping secrets and try to persuade him to tell her.

I have an idea about how to play badcop. The fact of the matter is that we are not going to be more intimidating than Blockbuster or Snowflame. We lack their physical presence, and we're heroes. We're not going to be able to match them in violence or brutality.

So let's not. Instead let's turn their fear of their boss against itself. They won't snitch because of what their boss will do to them? Convince them that their boss will think they've snitched no matter what they do. How? Threaten to have the cops let him go.

He's a low level dealer. What kind of deal would a guy like him need to cut to go free? Snitching... And agreeing to act as a spy.

So he's a snitch in the eyes of his boss either way. He might as well spill what he knows so he can get the protection of the police for himself and anyone else he might care about that Rose is offering him.
>>
>>2347396
I wonder if contempt has an associated power.
>>
>>2347396
We could just say we will mindfuck him if he doesn't tell us about his boss. I mean he already got a taste of what we can do just make him choose if he wants to keep living as a vegetable or as a normal person. Then we hold him in place and slowly approach our hand to his head and make a soft push so he thinks we are about to enter his mind and make him so afraid of being mind fucked that he will spill the beans
>>
>>2347420
Teleport behind him and whisper in his ear
"Nothing personnel kid"
>>
If he takes the right approach, Pete does have a power set that could be pretty spooky to a low-level thug. He could also "let it slip" that he doesn't have full control of his powers, but its OK because the last time he lost his temper he managed not to kill the guy.
>>
>>2347420
All he has to do is freeze in panic and that plan fails.
>>
>>2347433
Could even make use the Martian Manhunter telephary as a example but that we aren't so good with it and ubfirtunantly that may leave the thug in a vegetable state if the mind probe doesn't kill him.
>>
>>2347433
Pete has the ultimate version of Batman's old "pretend you'll throw them from a building" technique.

Teleport + flight is nasty if you wanna be scary.
>>
>>2347449
Can't we just levitate him?
>>
>>2347469
It's scarier if he's sitting comfortably inside a prison and then he's suddenly teleported over the crocodile pit of the local zoo.
>>
I do hope things don't get too rough though.

Something like what >>2347396 said crossed my mind too. If this guy doesn't cooperate we can play up that we don't need him, because we'll let all the cops (especially the ones on the take) know he was very helpful, and the guys that come to silence him will probably know more than some disposable dealer anyway.

I also wonder if Peter should use his psychic hold on the dealer while he is talking, and let it go while Rose is talking. Play up the fear/relief contrast that is the whole basis of good/bad cap with something that will feel really weird but not necessarily damage the suspect.
>>
I'm a little disappointed that the 'turn his fear of his boss against him' idea only got a lukewarm response. I guess anons really want to spook him with our powers.
>>

The warden walks away, leaving you alone with the prisoner. You didn't take much time to get a good look at him when you and Cyborg took him in, but now that you're stuck in a room together, you get a better picture.

He's young, probably in his mid-twenties, with light skin, messy black hair, and brown eyes that are currently looking at you with unconcealed fury. He's not cuffed, though considering he's now in a prison uniform, you're confident they took everything that could have been a threat away from him.

He remains seated on what passes for a bed in this place, not saying a word to either you or Rose as the two of you walk further into his cell. As per the plan you made with Rose, you'll be taking the bad cop role, and so hang back while she approaches the man.

"Name?" Rose demands.

"Huh?" the guy asks, looking up at her.

"I said..." Rose starts, already beginning to sound aggravated. She seems to realize this and catches herself, though. "I asked you what your name is."

"You can ask the warden," the man tells her. "I don't have to answer anything you ask. And considering the kinds of people you hang out with, I'm not feeling like doing you a favor."

Well, this is off to a promising start. You can see Rose tense up as she fights to restrain herself from throttling the guy already. She manages to keep her cool, clears her throat, and decides to ask him another question.

"Sir," she says, managing to hide how much she must hate calling him that. "We just have a few questions for you, then we'll be on our way."

"Well, I don't have any answers for you!" the man shouts at her. "So you two trick-or-treaters can get the Hell out of here right now."

It seems like you should start playing bad cop before Rose decides she wants to take on both roles.

Reaching out toward the man and channeling righteous fury (this man knows information that could keep people from getting hurt, and is refusing to cooperate), you focus on keeping him completely immobilized. Aside from what's needed for him to speak, you don't want any other part of him moving. After a moment, a faint, red light appears around the man's body.

"Listen, buddy," you say as you begin approaching he and Rose. "You can either answer her, or I can make you answer me."

"What are you doing?!" the man demands, the sound of struggle in his voice.

He's trying to fight you, and he's losing.

"Why can't I move?!"

>C.
>G. Release him.
>>
>>2347618
No I meant, if we don't levitate him now, we can save it for later. I wanted to see how he deals with just being held for now.
>>
>>2347628
Fair enough.
But the question remains, is that really all we have in our arsenal? I forgot we haven't really learned anything new (fury improvement aside) in a while.
>>
>>2347637
When Blood went and took over our mind we kinda started to hold on exploring our powers. Also i say we just need to refine our punching and levitate to give ourselfs more powers.

Although i would love to have a mind probe ability.
>>
>>2347637
Well there's barriers, but I can't think of how we'd use them in our current situation. Maybe if Rose had been the bad cop we could have staged her attacking him and saving him with one.
>>
>>2347650
I can think of something to do with the barrier but that would require more finesse then we have. Basicaly shrink the barrier until he's almost physically crushed by it.
>>
>>2347658
>>2347650
It's not like the guy knows Rose doesn't have barriers.

We could always "attack him" but get blocked off by our own barrier, and pretend she did it.
>>
>>2347661

I don't think we need to worry. This is more about psychology than our powerset.

"Oh, you can move," you assure him. "When I say so, anyway."

"Super powered freak..." the man growls.

"I doubt you want him to show you what else he can do," Rose tells the man, her voice holding more than a bit of threat. "It'll be much easier for you if you just tell us what we want to know."

The man doesn't say a word for a short time, but as you prepare to give him another taste of what you can do, he seems to find his voice again, and speaks to Rose.

"My name's Joe," he hisses out. "What do you want?"

"Let's start with who you work with," Rose tells him, her tone sounding less threatening now that the man's beginning to cooperate (albeit begrudgingly). "Based on what you were trying to sell, I'm going to go ahead and guess you're with Burning Blizzard."

"So what if I am?" the man demands.

"Then we want to know where to find your leader," Rose tells him. "I think his name was Snowflame..."

The man laughs with contempt, his body trembling a bit despite your psychic restraint on him. You're starting to get irritated with him again, and judging by the fact that Rose is starting to make fists again, she's not far behind.

"You really think I have any idea where Snowflame is?" he asks like she's an idiot. "I've never even met the guy!"

"Well then, who do you answer to?" Rose asks. "One of his lieutenants?"

"Wow, give this girl a medal," the man snorts. "She's a freaking genius. No, I don't work for one of his lieutenants, I work for one of his lieutenant's lieutenants. I'm real low on the food chain out there, so if you think you're going to get anything good out of me, you're wastin' your time."

"You can tell us where to find the person you work for," Rose tells him. "We'll work our way up from there."

"You're nuts," the man tells her. "I'm no snitch. But even if I did tell you, you wouldn't have a prayer going up against Burning Blizzard. They'd tear you to shreds, little girl. Same goes for you, psychic squirt. You'd better get a clue soon, because Snowflame's gonna be running this city before long!"

He's getting defiant again, and has devolved into ranting in order to try and intimidate both you and Rose. He needs some behavioral correction before he pushes too many of your partner's buttons.

With a movement of your arm, you lift the man off of his bed, holding him in the air above it. He still can't move, but you can hear the panic in his voice when he begins to speak again. For some reason, hearing that feels good.

"W-what are you doing?!" he demands fearfully. "Put me down!"

You make a pulling motion with your arm, willing for the man to be moved closer. The red glow surrounding his body intensifies, and he is pulled through the air in your direction. Once he's easily within arm's reach, you stop him, trusting your close proximity to make him slightly more fearful of you.

"Answer the lady's question," you command.

"Alright, alright!" the man says to you desperately. "The one I work for goes by Vic."

"And where do we find Vic?" Rose asks him.

"I-uh...there's a storage facility a few streets down from where you found me," he answers. "Burning Blizzard keeps a supply of the stuff in a unit there. Vic pays the owner to look the other way, and gives us our product to go out and sell."

"And what's the unit number?" Rose asks.

"I-I-I can't tell you that!" he declares. "If you go right there, they'll know I ratted them out, and I'll be a dead man!"

"We can make sure you're protected," Rose assures him. "Besides, they'll have a hard time getting to you inside a maximum security prison."

"I've told you enough!" John shoots back. "Now let me go and leave me alone!"

>>A. "I'll decide when you've told us enough."

It looks like Rose was right. This punk's more afraid of his boss than he is of the two of you. Apparently, you'll have to resort to making him more afraid of-

No, wait, you can use his fear of his boss to your advantage. You need to say something that will make him more afraid of not snitching than he'd be of actually snitching. He's convinced that, even with protection, he'd be doomed, so...

"Let you go and leave you alone?" you ask mockingly. "Good idea. We'll arrange for you to be released, make sure no cops go anywhere near you."

"R-really?" the man asks.

You don't know whether to be amused or disgusted. He doesn't seem to know where you're going with this. He honestly is entertaining the idea that you'll let him go with no strings attached. What an idiot. It looks like you'll have to make this clear as day for him.

You nod. "And you know what your buddies'll thing when they see that? They'll think you snitched."

There it is, the color's draining from his face. Now he gets it, and he's absolutely terrified by the idea. Good, you've got him right where you want him.

"And you'll have nobody there to protect you," you tell him. "But when they're done with you, I'm going to be right there to catch them, and get what I want anyway."

"Okay, okay, okay!" the man says almost pleadingly. "I'll tell you what you want to know, just don't send me back to them!"

You smile.

A minute later, you and Rose step out of the cell, and make your way back through the facility, working your way outside and to her bike, which is sitting right where she left it.

"I guess I do," you admit.

There was definitely something less-than righteous in your heart and mind back there. You won't deny it, but you don't feel like dwelling on it, either.

"Good work in there," you compliment.

"Thanks," she says to you in return. "Now let's head back to the tower and tell the others what we've found."

The two of you climb back onto her bike and speed out of the facility, traveling through the city at amazing speeds and swiftly making it back to the tower. Once the bike's parked in the garage, you and Rose head back up into the tower. She removes her bandanna in the meantime, shaking her head to straighten out her hair.

The two of you enter the living room, finding Cyborg and Troia in the middle of an arm-wrestling contest at one of the tables, while Silkie watches with apparent interest. There's no sign of Beast Boy or Raven, let alone Robin or Starfire.

"Hey," Rose greets.

Donna looks over to see the two of you. "Oh, welcome back, guys."

At that same moment, she swiftly forces Cyborg's arm down to the table, claiming her victory. She gets up, and Silkie climbs onto Cyborg's upturned palm, making a sound and wiggling around like he wants to be held.

Would the lack of an emotion count? Stoicism?

But off the top of my head on things that aren't power rings, there's lust, desire, disgust, intrigue, confusion, curiousity, hate, and bloodlust. Disbelief if you want to stretch it that far.

But there's one emotion I'm most curious to see: despair

"Huh," Donna says once you and Rose complete your story. "Didn't know you had it in you, Peter."

"I was surprised, too," Rose admits. "I wasn't sure how well things were going to go with me being the good-cop, but he kept stepping in every time I almost lost my cool."

"You've been working on your anger problems," Cyborg points out. "How many times did that guy almost set you off?"

Rose shrugs. "I wasn't counting, but he was really irritating."

You nod in agreement.

"Well, good job keeping control, then," Donna praises, smiling as she leans back in her chair and places her hands behind her head. "I knew the two of you would do fine."

"You guys learn anything new about what happened to that HIVE guy?" you ask your friends.

"No new information yet," Cyborg tells you. "We've been checking periodically, but so far haven't gotten anything helpful. If there is other info, Robin would be the one to ask about it."

Oh yeah, that reminds you.

"Are Robin and Starfire awake yet?"

"We haven't seen them," Donna answers, patting Silkie on the head as he crawls across the table. "If they sleep past noon I'll wake them up. Otherwise, I'm going to let them sleep."

If they're still not up, they must really need their rest. Starfire you're surprised to see sleeping in so late, but Robin pushes himself for so long that it doesn't seem at all for him to crash hard once he reaches that point. You don't want to wait, but when you look at the clock and see that it's almost 11 AM, you decide you can wait until noon for your friends to rise and shine.

"Well, until then, I'm going to the training Room," Rose announces, getting up from the table and putting her bandanna back on. "Let me know when it's time to work."

As Rose leaves the room, Donna looks toward the window. "It looks like I have time to take a quick flight. I'll be back soon."

"And I'm gonna go make sure BB didn't go back to sleep," Cyborg decides as he gets up.

An hour is plenty of time to get a workout, and you decide to hit the training room like Rose. However, you don't much want to spar with her this time. Lately, you've been ignoring your more basic exercises that make up the core of your physical ability. That means running, push-ups, sit-ups, plenty of juice to drink, pull-ups, maybe some rope-climbing, that sort of thing. Sparring is a good work out, and great for honing techniques, but in terms of improving strength and stamina, it has its limits.

Not wanting to get your suit all sweaty and stinky, you head back to your room and change into shorts with a t-shirt. Then you make your way to the training room, where you can see Rose avoiding laser blasts in a test of reflexes and stamina.

One of these days, you might have to give that a try.

While Rose does her exercise, you get down to yours, warming up with some stretches, then getting started for real with some jogging around the training room. You're somewhat disappointed with your performance in this regard. You do what most people would consider an impressive job, but you feel like you could be doing better. As you've discovered new powers, you've spent more and more time training your mind so that you can use them properly. That has led to your physical training being somewhat neglected. Still, in terms of strength, stamina, and endurance, you've well above the average person.

Push-ups and sit-ups come next, and once you're satisfied with those, you walk over to a pull-up bar, making use of it for a little while before deciding to stop and take a break. The Titans keep a small refrigerator in the training room stocked with some drinks and protein bars. There's plenty of water, but you decide on some juice, gulping it down and letting out a satisfied sigh as you become refreshed.

>A. Ask Rose if she has time for a quick spar

>B. Do some rope-climbing

>C. Go give that laser-shooting thing a try

MoG, how do you feel about implementing automatic routines? Just making a physical work out an automatic part of our day (if not interrupted by story). My sense is that the group doesn't really care about Peter working on a specific exercise so much as having solid overall physical fitness. This is in contrast to training our powers where we want to focus on enhancing a specific aspect of our power or developing a new trick.

To a lesser extent some spars could probably move to the background. Give them focus and additional choices when we're marking a milestone in our improvement or trying out new techniques, but day-to-day spars that are about honing our fundamentals and developing our judgement and reading skills might demand less detail.

You decide to continue working out for just a little while longer, approaching one of the ropes hanging from the ceiling and climbing it to the very top. Now satisfied that you've gotten proper exercise, you leave the training room, hit the showers, and get dressed in your costume, putting on the last of it just as Donna calls you on your communicator.

"They're awake," she tells you when you pick up. "We're meeting in the living room. See you there."

She hangs up, and you head for the living room, where you find Cyborg and Beast Boy making themselves some lunch, Raven sitting on the sofa with her nose in a book, Starfire beside her playing with Silkie, Robin at the main computer, and Donna standing nearby him, seemingly waiting for information.

Rose has not yet arrived, from the looks of things.

As you make your way toward the others, Robin gets up, stretching before turning to face you.

"Peter," he greets. "I hear you've had a busy day. Donna tells me that you and Rose interrogated a drug dealer from one of the major gangs."

To an extent. My request is mostly about making it explicit and working it into our day to day.

For instance, when we wake up in the morning it could very well be 'you do your morning exercises. You have a little more time for breakfast.' A. "Thank you," you tell him. "Hey, when we have a bit, I want to talk privately."

"Sure," Robin tells you, his curiosity evident by the look he gives you. "But first, we need to discuss the information you and Rose got for us."

He looks around, seeing that only you and Donna are actually paying attention at the moment. One of his eyes starts twitching in annoyance, but he refrains himself from going off on the team to pay attention. Instead, he directs his next words to you and Donna.

"We know that someone with at least a little bit of importance in Burning Blizzard is hiding out in a storage unit in the city," Robin summarizes. "They're apparently a lieutenant of a lieutenant, so if they're captured, we might be able to find out where to find someone really important in Snowflame's gang."

"Then why aren't we already going to catch this person?" Donna asks. "It would be easy, especially if they don't know we're coming."

"We need to decide if we want to handle this, or let the police do it," Robin responds. "I'm sure that the JCPD can handle a few gangsters, especially if they catch them by surprise. But there might be some advantages to doing this ourselves."

"Like what?" you question.

"If we start causing trouble for Snowflame's operations, he might start targeting us," Robin explains. "That means more members of Burning Blizzard coming right to us that we can put behind bars, and more chances to get valuable information on the gangs. But, there's also a chance that our involvement will spook the gangs and make them hide themselves better, switch their bases of operations around, that kind of thing. It's a coin flip."

"Did you find anything interesting last night?" you ask hopefully. "Something that can help us make a decision?"

"Like I've told you before, I've been in contact with the JCPD about these gangs," Robin answers. "I was going through all of the information they could give me. Most of it was on the Blockbusters, since they're the ones responsible for most of the more violent crimes. A lot more run-ins with the police, more arrests, so we've got more to go on with them. As far as Burning Blizzard, though, there isn't much. They're suspected to control most of the drug trade in the city, with cocaine being their main product. They haven't had as many run-ins with the police as the Blockbusters, and reports say that they really only get violent when they're threatened. Otherwise, they just run when they see the police."

"Do you know anything about their leader?" Donna asks.

>Continued
>>
>Continued

"The JCPD didn't have any information on him, other than the fact that he does cocaine and is supposed to be the leader," Robin tells her. "Last night, I was able to get in touch with an old friend that's good with finding information, but even she couldn't tell me much. Apparently, Snowflame was a drug lord in Latin America that was supposed to have died in a chemical explosion years ago."

>>A. "Who's this friend of yours?"

"Maybe we should focus on the Blockbusters if they're the more violent ones," you suggest.

"Drug dealers are deplorable, but they're dangerous to fewer people than violent men and women," Donna says, agreeing.

"I say we let the police handle Vic," you suggest to Robin.

Robin nods after a moment, and turns to the computer again, pressing a series of keys and seemingly pulling up information on the gang that you've now decided to focus on. A quick glance at the screen tells you that there is quite a bit of information on these people; police reports, photographs, confessions from former members, crime scene reports, a lot to go through. This could certainly take Robin all night to look at.

"The Blockbusters are run by a man named Roland," Robin informs the two of you as you look over his shoulder. "There's not much information on him, but apparently he comes from Gotham, and reports say that he's a real cutthroat. His gang's been making a fortune off the weapon's trade, although he's refused to sell to Burning Blizzard for obvious reasons. Beyond weapons sales, they've committed several robberies, run a number of racketeering and extortion operations, and wiped out several of the smaller games in the city. There are some kidnappings that have been blamed on them, but nothing's been proven."

"It'll be my pleasure to help take those creeps down," Donna comments.

"It might not be quite as easy as you're thinking," Robin warns, pulling up some more images. "Apparently, this gang's been making use of mercenaries for certain jobs, one or two of which I've seen before. There's the assassin, Cheshire. We haven't seen much of her since the Brotherhood of Evil was defeated, but she's dangerous. Then there's one that really surprised me."

An image pops up of a muscular man dressed in black, and wearing a matching luchadore mask.

"Bane," Robin says the name with loathing. "I had a few run-ins with him back in Gotham. I didn't know he was here until my friend told me last night. He's dangerous."

"Bane?" you ask. "I think I've heard of him...and I have no idea why."

"He's pretty famous," Robin tells you, shrinking down the picture of the man. "And he's worked for a lot of powerful groups. It's possible that he did a job or two for HIVE while you were still part of it."

"I think Di-Wonder Woman mentioned him before," Donna tells the two of you. "Is he the one that broke Batman's..."

"Yeah," Robin tells her, his voice telling you that whatever Bane did to Batman, it was really, really bad.

And if this guy can mess up Batman, he's trouble.

"Apparently he was hired to hunt down and kill the leaders of some of the smaller gangs when the Blockbusters were starting to rise to power," Robin continues. "Roland wanted to take out the other gangs that were starting to move up. According to my friend, he took down over half a dozen gang-leaders in a single night. He was paid very well for it, too."

"So, what's he still doing in town if his job's done?" Donna inquires.

"Not sure," Robin answers. "He could have another job lined up, could have been convinced to join Roland full time, or he could have some independent goals here in Jump City. Hopefully it's none of those things, and he'll be gone soon."

"You seem...worried about this one," Donna tells him. "Not just your normal "we need to take this guy seriously" kind of worried, but worried like you think we might not be able to take him."

"What makes Bane so dangerous?" you wonder aloud.

"He grew up in a legendary prison, where he trained his body to incredible levels of strength and endurance," Robin begins. "He was chosen for an experiment with a drug called "Venom", which he was the first person to survive exposure to. Venom makes him even larger and stronger, but from what I hear, he doesn't use it much anymore. Only when he absolutely needs to."

"Why doesn't he use it all the time if it helps him so much?" Donna questions. "What was the downside to it?"

"While under Venom's effects, his mental state deteriorates, and he becomes almost like a crazed animal," Robin explains. "When he's not under his affects, he's still incredibly strong, and has a genius intellect. He's fluent in at least ten languages, and has quite a few people from his old prison that work for him now."

Okay, yeah, sounds dangerous. And that Venom stuff...he seems like a really big guy already, you don't see what point there is in making himself bigger, especially if it messes with his head.

"Any other mercenaries we should know about?" you ask Robin.

"Just one," he tells you, pulling up another image.

At first, you think you're looking at a picture of Slade. But, the mask is shaped differently, has both eyes visible, and is entirely gray (aside from spots near the eyes, which are black). Beyond that, he seems to be carrying quite a few weapons with him that you don't recall Slade having when you saw him.

"Ravager," Robin tells you. "There isn't too much information on him, but apparently he's Roland's top killer. Gangsters in the Burning Blizzard are terrified of him, and he's a suspect in the deaths of several police officers."

"Ravager?" Donna asks. "I thought Rose was the Ravager."

"Apparently this guy didn't get the memo," Robin tells her.

This time, you get the feeling that Robin's pretty much done summing all of this stuff up, so you decide to ask Robin something that's been on your mind.

"Look, since it's just the three of us, I want to talk to you about something," you tell Robin.

He pauses, then turns his chair, giving you his full attention. "What's up?"

"I'm not sure how Rose will handle finding out about Slade, but if she's going to be working with us, and Slade's going to keep showing up, I'd rather she hear it from us now, and not the next time he pops up in the middle of one of our missions," you tell him, knowing how unexpected encounters with family can throw someone off.

"Peter, Rose hates her father," Robin tells you. "If she finds out he's in town, or if she sees him, I don't want to know what she'll do."

"We can't hide it forever," Donna points out. "Rose's no fool, and it's only a matter of time before Slade shows himself to her."

"Slade's not a fool, either," Robin counters. "He won't show himself to Rose if it'll endanger his goals."

Sighing, Robin picks himself up out of the chair. "I'll tell her myself, but if she asks, I'll let her know that you two convinced me."

Robin leaves the room to find Rose, leaving you to pray that she takes the news well.

Correct. I'm glad things worked out this way.

Still don't want to waifu Rose, but I want to protect her smile.

[spoilers]Other smiles I want to protect: Starfire, Raven, Silkie[/spoiler]
>>
>>2350162
I respect your decision against waifuing Rose, I'm just a sucker for badasses. Protecting smiles is a must though, no matter what.
>>
>>2350170
If Rose got herself healthy enough for a relationship, I'd be okay with Rose winning the Peterbowl. Of all possible outcomes though, I think its more likely that someone else will win it first.

And really, I want to protect the smiles of all Titans.

Also, side note: the fact that Robin is going to tell Rose alone is the opening for her to flip out and get loose, requiring us all to hunt her down. Had Robin bought Peter and Donna, or all the Titans, we would have been able to contain her until she calms down.

You're learning, MoG.

As always, I firmly believe that the poll is most influenced by whoever had good scenes recently. Incidentally, that means you do have quite a bit of influence depending on how much detail you provide scenes with different characters.

Kitten. Pete won't really love her, of course, but he can get closer to Mr. Moth and learn more forbidden worm lore in order to woo Silkie.

>As always, I firmly believe that the poll is most influenced by whoever had good scenes recently. Incidentally, that means you do have quite a bit of influence depending on how much detail you provide scenes with different characters.
The waifu dilemma: A waifu candidate requires screen time in order to build reader affection while also needing reader affection in order to merit receiving screen time.
>>
>>2350233
Yes, hence why I said 'detail'. It'd be pretty easy to spot railroading, if a QM were to shove a waifu candidate into scene after scene, heedless of player interest. In cases where you're working form an existing fictional work (like this one), you can hide a waifu away, but you can't stop from players from voting to interact with them (though repeatedly doing so could slowly choke out interest). But if you lavish one waifu with lots of attention and good scenes, and other candidates with short or uninteresting scenes, a QM could absolutely play an influencing role.

But, of course, that influence is not absolute. That's why some people (myself included) like Starfire/Pete. And Silkie/Pete.

Let's be realistic here.
Kitten is irrelevant.
Starfire has Robin and they're good together.
Raven is free, but had most of her arc on the show we had trouble interacting with her in more lax contexts.
Donna is good to go, but has little in terms of conflict so far.
Rose is good to go, and has the most character conflict.

Ultimately, that drives us to interact more with her, thus having more good scenes with her, thus breeding the waifuism.

>>2350257

Fang is in jail, so Kitten should have an X under 'romantically available.'

Also need a new column called 'capable of having a healthy relationship right now'. Put an X under Starfire, Raven, and Donna.
>>
>>2350301
>'capable of having a healthy relationship right now'
That wouldn't really work honestly. Starfire? already in a relationship, Raven? Pfft. Donna is a nonentity for relationships. She was created to be a friend to Diana. Super far from romance.
>>
>>2350301
I agree with that point on healthy relationships, but it's honestly really useless.
We're not actively pursuing anyone and the thing about conflicted characters (as morally incorrect as this may sound) is that they make good love interests.
Why? Because the conflict drives the relationship into PLOT and the relationship (usually) drives the conflict into a resolution.
That's from a writing perspective of course, not a judgment of what's "best" to choose.

>>2350309
I think he means "isn't dealing with emotional issues right now". By that standard Donna, Raven and Starfire are doing really ok. Kitten? I don't know.
>>
>>2350309
Perhaps I shouldn't have included the qualifier 'right now'

>Donna
We don't know what's true in this continuity. Even so, I don't see why that would be disqualifying.

>>2351539
Would you suggest a good replacement? I put it as a joke. I'll accept anything as long as it keeps Blood in the KYS range.
>>
>>2351542
I meant that the rankings deliberately favor Rose. One point higher and no one would qualify, one point lower and Raven would be a contender. Donna gets benefits by being tied.

Also no horsepower category which would boost Donna, T-Car and Starfire.

Finally we know Silkie likes boys because he's the only one to have slept with Peter.
>>
>>2351568
Oh wait, you mean horsepower as in strength?

I can change it to:
1-2: KYS
3-4: What?
5+: Contenders
>>
>>2351589
Horsepower is a measure of foot-pounds per second, which is a measure of force. So, yes, it would as strength.

The 10,000 HP figure comes from a quick google search about the Batmobile. While the T-Car doesn't have as many bells and whistles, I think its a good benchmark for it.

Incidentally, Beastboy can produce 14.9 Horsepower as a horse.

>>
>>2351796
The numbers don't lie.
>>
>>2351802
IMO, it's up to the individual what counts as disqualifying. If you think being in a relationship bars you from the Peter-bowl but being blood related doesn't, that's on you.
>>
>>2351849
Well, the way I put it no one gets disqualified from the point total, they just lose points. The DQ in that row is only a special way to say they're unable to have a relationship.
>>
Okay, I spent way more time on this than intended. If you believe I have made an error, or otherwise have questions about the entries I provided, by all means let me know.

Notes:
You'll notice that the chart is 10 questions in two groups of five. The first five are what I would consider the essential questions. A 'no' in this category might be disqualifying for you. Still, I did not DQ anyone by default. That's yours to decide. The second half are questions that while important when considering a love interest, aren't out-and-out deal breakers for most people.

Interestingly, if a 'no' in the first five is NOT disqualifying for you, or a 'no' in the second five IS, then there is a decent chance you have a fetish.

For future iterations I'm considering weighting 'No's as a -1 for the first five, and -.5 for the second five.

Surprising results: Blood doesn't wind up with the lowest score. That suggests to me that the chart isn't measuring who is or isn't the best Waifu/Husbando, but who is most compatible with Pete, so this can be most accurately seen as a Peter compatibility chart. Pete/Blood is terrible, but we must resign ourselves to the fact that it would at least be compelling. Compare to Katarou, which as it stands, would just be boring without further development (beyond an obvious dom/sub power dynamic. Peter doms).

Anyway, not sorry.

>Brother Blood - attracted to males: Depends

His obsession with Cyborg in season 3 was pretty gay. Ditto for Slade and Robin. Now Blood is after Peter.

Joking aside, I consider it legitimate reading in both cases. Obsession with a protagonist has a long and proud tradition of being read as sexual desire, and it makes sense, particularly in fiction where sexuality isn't depicted (like a TV-14 cartoon). Teen Titans 2003 Slade and Blood are both control-issues-sexual

>>2352602
Depends. If no child ever thwarted their need for control, they would never be obsessed with a child. Also, in Slade's defense, Cyborg is pretty much a grown ass man. At minimum dude was 16 in season 1. He's probably 18-19 already.

Incidentally, this means Slade and Blood would develop a weird psycho-sexual obsession with a horse if it defied them enough.

>>

>>
>>2352644

>>
>>2352644

>>
>>2352648
Oh, I do. And I don't expect our teleportation to work either.
>>
>>2352648
How mad is he about Pete's righteous fury?
>>
>>2352656
Irritated that he probably won't accidentally kill anyone by losing control.
>>
>>2352657
Interesting. I thought it might have been because it cut off an avenue of getting to Peter. The Blood-like intrusive thoughts Pete has when he uses his powers to dominate and control seem like a backdoor Blood had put in place.

Incidentally, one thing I've considered, but have since rejected, is the idea that Sam/Pete might just be a sociopath, no help from Blood needed. But there's too much contravening evidence, chief among which is that Peter has acute empathy (he's depicted as picking up on many emotional cues, and anons have him act compassionately in response). If Sam was a sociopath, whatever Blood's plan would have to have been incredibly jarring, and the psychic surgery that put Pete together failed to carry over that trait.
>>
>>2352665
All Blood needs to get into Peter's mind is to overpower his psychic abilities, or to slip through the cracks when Peter's mind is taxed.

And I wouldn't call Sam a sociopath. He cared for his friends and family. Peter, of course, cares for his new family in the Titans.

As far as the plan, Sam wasn't ignorant. He knew that he'd have to do some questionable things, but there were certain lines he was not willing to cross.
>>
>>2352665
I assumed we saw bits of Sam during that interrogation with the drug dealer, particularly during that last scene with him.
>>
>>2352669
Fair point.

>>2352673
That is the crux of the question. Are those intrusive thoughts intrinsic or extrinsic to Sam/Pete?

MoG is definitely pushing the intrusive nature of those thoughts and feelings. I came up with the interrogation 'set him free' gambit, and when I thought it up, I did not think of it as vicious (or even immoral, if you never plan on carrying out the threat), but the delivery MoG went with definitely was. I was caught by surprise, but I appreciate the choice. Its something we'll continue to reckon with.
>>
>>2352673
But that wasn't particularly evil. Hell, Batman would bluff like that, and he isn't lacking in empathy.
>>
>>2352684
Yes, it did sound vicious. Then again, Samuel was instrumentalized, he probably had intensive training to desensitize him and make him prone to obeying commands without questioning.
Except now he has a new personality running things, overlayed with his old one.
>>
>>2353002
That's my point. MoG made it a point to take it to that place.

>>2353022
I can't see the word 'instrumentalized' without my brain going on a journey. I'm not sure what's the more amusing angle though. Blood telling Samuel to get in the fucking robot, or Blood telling Samuel to GET FUNKY WITH THAT BASS in his jam band.
>>
>>2353045
Oh god, kek
>>
Since we are here, listing some training options for our free time / next issues:
>Basic PT
>Power Exploration (lagging behind)
>Meditation (it counts!)
>Sparring
>Reflex training (lasers)
>Team Sparring
To train fighting multiple opponents or learn new maneuvers to cooperate with titans - think Ultimate Alliance
>Skill training
We could practice some stuff with the other titans, like stealth with Robin, or learn a bit about tech with Cy. You never know.
>>
>>2353074
MoG seemed to agree to making basic PT automatic. He might be willing to do the same for relaxation meditation.

As for the power development, I'd be interested in refining our slides or trying to develop an aura-type Barrier. Also during our interrogation we learned we can move Held targets.

I agree that team excercises are needed an am not opposed to developing other skills, though that's competing with other things I'd prioritize higher.
>>
>>2353438
I think we could put in some time for those during auto.

If the titans have a patrol rotation, there are 21 possible combinations, of which 6 involve Pete. Assuming a tri-week cycle, he patrols 2x a week. If that takes 4 hours, he sleeps 8 hours a day, and spends 2 hours for personal needs (food, bathing, etc - all in the tower), with sundays off and saturdays also off.
That means over one week Pete would have 62 hours to spend on shit. Let's say half is fun and socialization.
That's still 31 hours.
With a good workout lasting no more than 1 and a half hour (avoid cortisol) levels spiking), and working out 5 days a week (I do 6, but not at superhero level) that's still 23 hours and a half.
Sparring can't last longer than 30 minutes, assuming he went balls to the wall and fought 5 days a week, that's 21 hours.
Let's reserve that one hour for the goon of the week.
Still got 20 hours.
And that's with Pete being lazy on weekends and not doing some crazy batman sleep cycle.

Good job anon. That's a good way to put it in perspective.

One thing to consider though is if the Titans actually do any school stuff. I figure they homeschool themselves off screen. I don't know how much time per day that takes though.

Good point, does Pete study at all?

Don't know, does he?

Do any of the Titans study? Are they homeschooling themselves.

Robin already did all his learning while working with Batman. Raven studies, but that's mostly literature and magic, Cyborg has a high school education, and in his current state is a genius engineer. Beast Boy doesn't study much, Troia and Starfire do what they can to learn about the world
