/qst/ - Quests

>Seeking Silkie edition

Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

Starfire's already checked the immediate area around her room for any signs of the sneaking Silkie. So far, she's found nothing, and gone on to continue her search. But the tower is large, and there are quite a few places for Silkie to hide where no Titans (except Beast Boy) would be able to find him. And, if he's on the move, he may be able to avoid being found by switching over to rooms that you've already checked.

Maybe you're giving him too much credit, but it never hurts to be careful.

Now, if you were Silkie, where would you hide? You don't want your bath, and you know Starfire will be looking for you. What would be the ideal place to lie low? There are many places with various advantages to choosing them to take refuge.

>A. The living room, Silkie could be looking for food while he hides

>B. Beast Boy's room. Silkie could hide in all of the junk in there

>C. He could have tricked Starfire into leaving her room. Check there.

>D. Maybe he went down into the basement. Starfire doesn't like it in there, so it's not a place she's likely to check any time soon.

>E. He's hiding in the last place anyone would expect; the bath tub

>F. He's gone up to the roof.

>G. The training room

>H. Raven's room. Nobody ever goes in there without Raven's permission. If he can survive her wrath, then he will be safe from the others for some time

>I. In your room, probably sleeping in your bed

>D. Maybe he went down into the basement. Starfire doesn't like it in there, so it's not a place she's likely to check any time soon.
I think there's a chance that Silkie might be expecting that he only has to hide from Star, so this sounds good.

You know Silkie likes to eat as much as he can. He may be looking for a meal while he hides. And, unless he's interested in eating the junk on Beast Boy's floor, the most likely place for him to go look for some grub would be the living room.

It wouldn't be a bad place to hide, either, the more you think of it. Cabinets, drawers, tables, sofas, there are plenty of places for the little larva to take cover and wait out this whole search. The other Titans using the room might not even notice him at that point. It won't hurt to have a look.

You arrive in the living room to find it mostly empty. The only one present is Beast Boy, who is working on the task of setting up the television with a single arm. You aren't really sure why, the two of you watched a movie not long ago.

Then, Donna walks into the room, and you remember that he'd wanted to show her a movie. You decide to make your search quick, and get to work. You find nothing in the sofas, or around the TV. Searching under the tables likewise yields no results. The cabinets are full of dishes and cooking supplies, nothing more. And, finally, the cabinet containing Silkie's special food looks undisturbed, with the jar from which Starfire feeds him sitting closed and still.

>>A. Take the jar. Maybe you can bait Silkie with some of his food.

>B.Go check Beast Boy's room

The jar of food might keep this little trip into the kitchen from being a total waste. If you bring it with you on your search, you might be able to use it as bait to draw Silkie out of hiding. With that in mind, you grab the jar and step out of the room, thinking on where you should go next.

You briefly consider searching Beast Boy's room, but you'd rather not have to search through his dirty clothes and garbage if you don't have to. And besides that, you have another idea as to where Silkie might be hiding. A place that Starfire hates to visit, and that is frankly rarely used by anyone other than Robin or Cyborg.

The basement.

It's not a long walk to reach the basement door, and you open it to reveal stairs going down into darkness. Starfire's majorly creeped out by this place, though you aren't really sure as to why that is. It's a basement, not exactly the most cheery or welcoming part of a building, but it's just a room.

You flip on the light at the top of the stairs and walk right on down, finding yourself alone in a room with a few power sources to different systems in the tower, and quite a few boxes and crates. You're not really sure what the team keeps down here, but it hasn't really mattered so far.

It's a spacious room, and the boxes and crates do necessitate you moving around. There is nothing on the floor that would indicate the presence of Silkie, so you prepare yourself to begin searching inside of crates when you hear a sound coming from a corner, where a single box sits.

>A. Approach the box and look inside

You think you've just found Silkie's hiding spot.

Approaching the box, you open the jar of food specially prepared for Starfire's "Little Bumgorf". That alone seems to get some attention from whatever is in the box, as you once again see it move ever-so-slightly. Then, you set it down, the sound of it touching the ground seeming to draw Silkie's attention even more, though you can't see anything peeking from inside or behind the box.

"Silkie!" you call. "Food for you!"

The box moves, but nobody emerges from it or over it. Instead, it begins to slide across the ground toward the jar, stopping as it bumps into the container of food. The half of the box closest to you rises up, and Silkie wriggles out, climbing onto the jar and stuffing his face into it.

You've got him.

Maybe Silkie doesn't like baths because Starfire doesn't do them how he'd like them? Maybe the water's too cold, or he doesn't like a certain brand of soap.

We should confer with star about asking Mr. Moth. Maybe they take dustbaths like chinchillas.

Well, that was simple enough. And, since Silkie's about to do something he clearly dislikes, you figure you can let him snack a little more while you take him to Starfire. He wriggles around in the jar, soon disappearing into it entirely. His head soon pops out and he belches loudly, signifying that he's eaten all that was in there.

It seemed like a lot. How does something so small eat so much?

Carrying him upstairs and through the halls, it takes some time to find Starfire without a communicator, but eventually you do run into her, finding the girl on her way back to her room, looking both frustrated and quite worried. When she sees you, and the bundle you're carrying, however, her eyes light up with relief.

"Silkie!" she shouts, rushing over and taking him out of the jar. She hugs him tight and fusses over him for a few moments before looking at you.

"Thank you for locating him, friend," she tells you with a warm smile. "Where was he hiding?"

"The basement," you answer.

Starfire quickly gets a look of distaste on her face. "Silkie, why would you spend time in such a dark and horrible place? You could have encountered the rats, or a box could have fallen on you!"

Silkie looks at her with mild confusion.

"Well, I am happy to see that you are well, my little bumgorf," Starfire declares, nuzzling Silkie. "Come, let us perform the ritual of bathing."

"Does he always do this during bath-time?" you ask Starfire as she heads for her room.

"Not often, no," Starfire tells you, stopping. "He usually enjoys his baths."

Well, that pretty much shuts down all of your theories (even if he did, lots of pets just don't like being bathed). At least that means there's nothing to worry about. Starfire is caring for her pet just fine.

She disappears into her room.

As Starfire takes Silkie off to get a bath, you realize that you could really do with a shower. Between sparring with Rose, and searching some dirty floors for Silkie, it really might be a good idea to get cleaned up, especially if you're going out in public later, with girls, no less. You turn away from Starfire's room and move to the shower closest to your room.

You don't stay in the shower long (you swear you can hear somebody chuckling sinisterly, and while you've pretty much learned to ignore Blood, the thought of him watching you shower unsettles you enough to make you pick up the pace). And once you're out and dressed, you think on what to do next.

Looking at your clock, you see that you've got at least three more hours until going out. So, you can decide what to do next.

There's plenty of time left to kill, but there's also plenty of time that's passed since you spoke with Robin this morning. It might not hurt to pay him a visit and see if your communicator is ready for you. Besides, maybe Robin can answer a few things for you.

Once more stepping out into the halls, you make way for Robin's room, finding the door open. Robin spends a great deal of time cooped up in his room, but he generally keeps the door open so that anyone who needs to see him can do so. It's usually only shut when he's away or sleeping, though according to the others, having him go to his room used to mean that you'd go days without seeing him for more than a few seconds, like Raven, only somehow more worrying.

Stepping into the room, you find Robin sitting behind his desk. A laptop sits open in front of him, and he seems to be intently reading something on it. Despite this, he knows you've come in without even having to look up.

"Hey Peter," he greets, still not looking up. "I have your new communicator ready to go."

He gestures to a Titans communicator sitting on the edge of the desk. You walk over, pick it up, and slide it into your pocket.

"I'm looking over some info the JCPD sent my way," Robin explains before you can even ask what he's doing. "I'm probably going to be doing this for the rest of the day, unless there's something you needed."

"Rose asked what's been going on earlier," you tell Robin, thinking back to the conversation over breakfast. "I didn't mention Slade. Was that right thing to do?"

Now Robin turns some attention away from the reports he's been so absorbed in, leaning back in his chair and finally looking up at you.

"Rose and Slade...." Robin begins, not really seeming to know where to begin with this. "She has a lot of anger and frustration for him. He trained her since she was a little kid to follow in his footsteps, then just abandoned her without a word. When we met her, she was angry, scared, confused, desperately trying to become like her father because she didn't know any other way. Back then, we hadn't seen Slade since our fight with Trigon, so even we didn't know where he was. As far as I know, she has no idea he's back in Jump City, and it's probably a good idea to keep it that way. If she found out he was still around, I'm not sure I'd trust her to handle it well."

His words make sense. You'd hate to see what Rose would look like on the warpath.

"Do the others know about the deal with Slade?" you inquire.

"Yes," he informs you. "They know. They aren't very happy with it, but they know."

"That's alright," you tell him. "So can I."

Robin frowns. "Am I going to have to send a chaperone?"

Well, that would certainly be...embarrassing? Emasculating? Stifling? Not pleasant, no matter what you want to call it.

"I'm kidding," he says with a chuckle. "But do use your head out there. And keep your eyes open. You have a target on your back that more and more people seem to be taking aim at."

Well, that's comforting.

Letting Robin return to his work, you leave his room and begin walking the halls. After a moment of thought, you decide to go ahead and give Raven a visit. Hopefully she's done her meditation with Rose, and you won't be interrupting anything of major importance. Well, even if you are, Raven's not so bad. All you really need to do is apologize, and she'll usually let it go, even if she huffs or grumbles about it.

Her door, of course, is shut and presumably locked. You give it a knock, and a few moments later, it opens up to reveal about half of Raven's face.

"Yes?" she asks.

>A. "I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out."

Now Pete gets trounced.
>>

>A. "I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out."

I want to put the ball in her court, since we know very little of what she likes to do.

In retrospect, in the cartoon, Raven getting closer the other characters required a degree of contrivance, such as getting body swapped with Raven, accidentally locking down the tower due to a scary movie, or having Cyborg and Beast Boy visit Nevermore. She's really hard to get to know.

I hope we can get some feedback on that book of urban legends we got her, since inevitably at some point Pete will buy everyone presents again.

>>
>>2324449
"I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out," you tell her, basically leaving the specifics up to her.

Raven's not the most social person, you get that. But, she's your friend, and you feel like you should spend some time with her that doesn't involve her reading a book in the corner.

She looks...well, not overly surprised, actually. The door shuts, then opens completely, revealing your friend standing there, looking a bit uncertain. Whether that's because she doesn't know what to do, or isn't sure why you'd want to hang out with her, you can't say. But, she doesn't leave you wondering long, and soon gives you an answer.

"Alright," she tells you. "Do you play chess?"

You're about to answer with an "I don't remember", but Raven seems to pick up on that before you get the chance, and just strolls past you without waiting for an answer. Seeing that she's heading for the living room, you follow her to the now-empty section of the tower, where she gets out a chess set from one of the cabinets and begins setting it up.

You take a seat and let her set the board how she wants. She gives you the white set of pieces, meaning you'll be going first. She sits down across from you, leans back, and waits for you to get the game started.

>A. Make it your mission to just steamroll as many of her pieces as possible as quickly as possible. Pick her apart until she has nothing left.

>B. Take it slow at first, see what she does, then react to it.

I think this is what people that are good at chess do? I'm not expecting a win but hopefully this is the way to get better. Also, kind of ties into what Rose was saying about fighting.
>>
>>2324518
>B.

Probably not a winning strategy but also not the most thought intensive, which leaves us time for:

>D. Chat with her, assuming she's amenable. Ask her about her day, what she's up to. Get to know her a little better. If she asks questions, answer them.
>>
>>2324538
Alt:

>D. Discover you don't know how to play chess. Have her teach you and then chat while you play as best you can.
>>
>>2324534
True. But I think it'll be hell to play like that as a beginner.

I mean, it works for chess masters and computers because the former can eliminate certain scenarios from the "simulation" - based on their experience-, while the latter can just 'brute force' its way to simulate a multiple turns of depth (and eliminate certain scenarios if you have good heuristics for that).
>>

>>>C. Try to predict what she'll do. Do your best to think several moves ahead and create a trap that will eventually catch her
>>
>>2324534
>>2324553
Okay, you think the best approach here might be to try and plan several turns ahead. See if you can't predict the moves she'll make and try to lure her into some sort of trap if you can. It could work, and it fits with the advice Rose gave you earlier.

Of course, she was referring to combat, but, details.

It only takes a few turns for Raven to figure out what you're trying to do. You see her smirk, and know that you're pretty much screwed. You make a few more attempts to adapt your strategy, and manage to delay the inevitable a little while longer. But, in the end, defeat still finds you, and Raven is left as the victor.

"Good game," you tell her, looking at the clock.

Still plenty of time until you head for the arcade.

"How about a rematch?"

And so, the two of you play again, this time with you trying to strike up conversation as the two of you make your moves. After making sure you aren't trying to make her lose focus or anything underhanded like that, she begins answering your questions.

"How was your day?"

"Fine."

"What have you been up to?"

"Reading, meditation."

"How was that book I got you?"

"Interesting. Thanks."

She seems to be too absorbed in the game for much talking, and that's how it remains, the two of you playing chess, and you getting relatively short answers out of her. Despite her brief responses, it seems that she's enjoying herself, and not intentionally being rude or anything like that. In fact, the longer you play, the more relaxed she seems about it, and the more fun she seems to be having.

And, that's how you spend the remainder of the afternoon. Then, night rolls around, you thank Raven for playing, and go to get ready for a night at the arcade with Donna and Rose.

Thought about it. Raven seemed unusually reticent during our chess game, even for her.

It feels like it might be part of a pattern: in several of interactions, through narration, MoG has had Peter pick up that Raven is uncertain of our motives for interacting with her. While reserved, Raven isn't what I would call outright shy, and we have had better interactions with her (such as during our initiation), so I'm considering the following possibilities, in order of (roughly) descending drama.

1. We leaned on her pretty hard at the beginning when we were getting our footing, but as we grew we interacted with her less. She might feel used and discarded. Our actions, combined with a few time skips where we couldn't have less transactional interactions could be read this way. I feel like this would be an excessively harsh, but still valid reading of the situation by Raven, and, metagaming a bit, doesn't jive with our Social Link rating.

2. Alternatively, she feels worried/guilty that when she was guiding us she was giving us bad advice, given how frequently we arrived in situations where we felt we had to push ourselves dangerously, and how we are now having greater success after shifting to a new paradigm. That'd be unfortunate, but not something we can address unless she brings it up. My take is that what she taught us was critical to us at the stage that we learned it, and gave us the grounding we needed to eventually grow past it.

3. She might still be gun-shy about the Terra thing. Particularly pointed because we have Blood on conference call. On the other hand, she seems to be okay with Donna Troy joining, and doesn't seem to openly mistrust Rose (which is another metagaming point: Raven was not shy about mistrusting Terra. Raven isn't a shy person, she just prefers to do her own thing).

4. She might still be gun-shy about the Malchior thing. Given what she said regarding love in a previous thread, it still weighs on her. If she suspects Pete is attracted to her, or she finds herself attracted to Pete, I could see her being careful.

5. As above, but Raven is jelly of new game+ Pete/Starfire/Silkie route. See the 'disturbingly happy' comment from thread ten. Personally, I don't buy this one, but I'm being thorough.

6. Raven just isn't into hanging out with Pete. Even if we have a decent Social Link rating, its like hanging out with Beastboy. They don't gel in casual situations and she's just humoring Pete.

7. Raven just needed to concentrate on the game. Stop reading into it so much.

8. Mog wanted to wrap up the session.

Other anons: >But anon, why are you wasting so much time with this?

Fuck you, I love connecting dots.

"Thanks for playing," you tell Raven, getting up from the table.

The past few hours have gone by with you remaining in one spot, playing against Raven in game after game of chess, in each of which she's soundly defeated you. It's not that you were playing overly badly, but she clearly has a far, far greater mastery of the game than you do. Not surprising, since you've seen her playing it with Cyborg more than once, and you aren't sure if you've ever played before in your life. All things considered, you did reasonably well.

Raven gives a nod to your thanks, gathering up the pieces and putting them away. With that, she walks toward the living room doors, probably heading back to her own room.

"See you later," she tells you before disappearing from the room.

Not a minute passes before the doors open again, allowing Donna and Rose to step into the room.

Neither is wearing their normal uniforms, which tells you that you probably shouldn't be going in costume tonight either. Donna is dressed in blue jeans and a red T-shirt, while Rose has black yoga pants on, and a long-sleeved shirt of the same color. It's strange seeing them dressed so casually, but they both look nice in this simple civilian garb.

"Hello, Peter," Donna greets with a smile. "We're ready to go when you are. We were thinking we'd stop and grab some food on the way over, my treat."

Rose smirks. "Yeah, it's the least she can do with how badly we're going to crush you at the arcade."

With Rose, it can be hard to tell, but the look in her eyes tells you that she's just messing around. And, come to think of it, you don't remember eating lunch today.

"Deal," Donna tells you. "Are you planning on going out in costume?"

Oh, right, casual. You tell the girls that you'll be right back and head for your room, getting out of your hero costume and putting on some black jeans and a red hoodie. Casual.

You return to the living room in your new outfit, and the three of you depart the tower, making your way into Jump City and looking for a place to eat. Soon, you all settle on a pizzeria and head in, ordering your dinner and taking a seat at one of the tables to wait for it.

"It was nice," you answer. "How about you two?"

"I had a good day," Donna answers with a smile. "After breakfast, I sparred with Rose some more, then flew around the city for a while, and after that watched that movie Beast Boy wanted to show me."

"How was it?" you ask.

"It was....entertaining," Donna answers after a moment of thought. "It was based on the story of Perseus, but was really inaccurate in its retelling. Still, it was enjoyable. The action scenes were nice, and the actors gave a commendable performance."

The movie she's describing isn't ringing any bells for you. Maybe you should ask Beast Boy about it some time. Looking to Rose, who still hasn't answered, you prompt her once again.

"What about your day, Rose?"

"Well, after breakfast, I sparred a few more rounds with Donna, and joined Raven for some meditation," Rose recalls. "After that, Starfire convinced me to let her braid my hair...."

Donna gives her a sympathetic smile. "So, you were with Starfire right up until it was time to go, then?"

Rose sighs. "Yeah. I told her I had to go wash off and get dressed, but then she started asking a million questions."

The white-haired girl shakes her head. "Starfire is a wonderful person, but she can be so exhausting..."

Donna nods in agreement.

The three of you continue to chat for a while until your drinks arrive, and your food follows not long after. A pizza for all of you to split, along with a couple orders of fries. Everyone chows down, eventually clearing the table of anything consumable. Donna pays the bill, and the three of you get up to leave for the arcade.

Both Donna and Rose look eager for this, and you find yourself hoping that the only thing you'll have to pay for tonight in the arcade is tokens. Either one of your friends could do some serious damage if they wanted to, so you hope their competitive nature doesn't lead them to doing anything destructive.

It's crowded when you get there, which seems to surprise Donna and make Rose kind of anxious. You keep noticing her reaching for her waist, only to tense up and let her arm rest at her side. Whatever's bothering her, you hope she feels better soon.

After buying enough tokens to buy everyone several games, you look around and try to decide what to start with.

Not too far away, there's a dancing game that nobody seems to be using. That could be a good start to the night; it'll get the blood flowing, and encourage everybody to loosen up and have a good time. Donna doesn't seem to be very tense, but Rose looks almost scared. You wish you knew what was bugging her, but it might not be a good idea to bring it up right now.

Instead of discussing Rose's nervousness, you start toward the dancing game, motioning for the two to follow you.

You hop right onto one of the platforms, and gesture for one of the girls to get up and join you. Rose seems hesitant, and Donna surprised, but after a moment the former Wonder Girl steps up onto the neighboring platform.

This setup will allow the two of you to compete with one-another, though you'll honestly be happy to not make a total fool of yourself. You put a token into the machine, and Donna does the same with hers. A list of songs scroll by on the screen in front of you, and you hit one at random.

The music begins, and arrows begin appearing on screen, signifying where to put your feet. At first, you make some little mistakes, but you get used to things quickly. You may not have much experience with dancing, but the game tells you how to move. The only things you have to do are pay attention to what the screen tells you, and move your feet to the correct spots. Your training has kept you from being a klutz, and given you decent stamina. So, once you get the hang of it, you actually do really well.

Beside you, Donna likewise stumbles at first, but soon gets the hang of it as well. You aren't sure if she's done a lot of dancing, but whatever the case, she's doing just as well as you are. As you glance over at her, you realize that she has at least one major advantage over you; speed. She's able to move her body faster than you are, meaning she hits her mark sooner, earning her more points in the long run.

Despite this, you keep giving it your all, ending with a pretty good score that Donna manages to beat. A few other arcade patrons, having evidently stopped by to watch the competition, begin cheering for Donna, who smiles graciously before stepping over and clapping you on the shoulder.

"Nicely done, Pete," she tells you. "I never took you for a dancer."

"Me neither," you tell her. "But, I guess I'm full of surprises."

Donna chuckles. "I guess you are. So, what now? Rose hasn't had a turn."

You look to the white-haired girl, who no longer looks all that uneasy. Instead, she looks oddly focused, like she's been studying and pondering something intensely for some time and thinks she has it all figured out. That's a nice change from worry, but you still wonder what exactly is going on with her. Maybe you should call her up to play a round, it could help her snap out of whatever funk this is.

"Rose!" you call to her. "Let's see if you can beat me!"

That got her attention. Her competitive nature quickly overpowers any doubts she was having, and she steps forward, moving to take Donna's place. The dark-haired girl gladly steps aside, letting Rose get into position on the platform.

Donna moves off to stand and watch from nearby, seemingly oblivious to the fact that a few guys from the assembled crowd are drooling over her. For their sake, it's probably a good thing she doesn't notice.

Rose puts a coin into the machine, and you do the same, selecting another song at random for the two of you to compete with.

The song begins, and this time, you're able to get started without any screw-ups.

But, you aren't the only one. Rose is on top of her game from the second the music begins, hitting her mark each and every time, somehow with as much speed as Donna, which seems odd. You didn't think Rose had super speed, but somehow she's reacting to the screen just as fast as your other friend had, maybe even faster. You don't get it, but it's causing her to leave you in the dust.

If only you weren't competing with girls like Rose and Donna, otherwise you'd be doing great. But against either of them, you seem hopelessly outmatched. That doesn't keep you from trying your best and putting your all into it. But, it's ultimately a futile effort, and Rose wins by a landslide of points.

The crowd has grown even larger, and your friend gets plenty of applause. She seems unused to this. Not exactly shy, but kind of unsure. Ultimately, she's left smiling, though, so you consider this a victory.

"That was fun," she tells you, sounding surprised.

"You did awesome," you congratulate her.

Looking to Donna, you wonder which of them can play this game better. Both of them can kick your butt, but which can beat the other?

One way to find out.

Looking at Donna, you loudly declare, "Now let's see who's the dancing queen!"

The now-sizable crowd begins to cheer as Donna approaches your platform, which you quickly vacate to make room for her. You manage to find a spot from which you can watch your friends compete. The two of them look at one-another as Donna steps up, and you can pretty much feel the sparks fly between them as they get ready to see which of them is best.

Oh boy, maybe this wasn't the best idea. Beating you is one thing, but competing with each other...no, it'll be fine, and it'll be fun to watch.

The girls put their tokens into the machines, and select a song at random.

The two of them seem to begin in the same nanosecond, each one starting strong as they hit their marks with perfection, getting right into the dance, which, moving with perfect speed and balance to a song that seems unnaturally fitting for what you just said to get them started.

Their skill isn't even the most impressive part of this contest. What you quickly notice that really blows your mind is that the two seem to be moving in perfect sync with one-another, neither falling behind or pushing ahead. They move as if they're the same person, and it's hard not to get enthralled by the whole thing. The crowd is going nuts for them, though they block that out just fine and continue what looks more like a coordinated dance recital than a competition at this point.

When the song finally comes to an end, and the girls stop their dancing, the screens show that they somehow wound up with the exact same score. The crowd goes wild for them, which causes patrons to look over from other games to see what the commotion is.

The spectators may be happy, but you wonder if Rose and Donna are content with a tie.

It's not like I'm complaining, half the fun is competing and the other half is making friends. Winning isn't actually a must. That said, you're correct that he could minimize their advantages if the idea is to be as competitive as possible.
>>
>>2329020
"You two were amazing," you congratulate your friends, rushing over to the platforms and clapping them on the shoulders. "So that's one point Rose, one point Donna, zero points me."

The two of them seem confused by the point assignment, but only for a moment. Once that passes, they seem really eager about the idea of competing against one-another at games tonight. They're both clearly having fun, and clearly looking forward to seeing who can beat who at what.

"So, we're tied for first," Rose remarks to Donna. "Don't get used to it."

"Oh, don't worry," Donna tells her. "I'll be leaving you in the dust in no time."

Alright, they're pumped, you're having a good time, and, aside from a few drooling guys (and one girl) still ogling your friends, the crowd has dispersed. Seems as good a time as any to move onto something else.

"How about we find some other games to play?" you suggest.

"Sounds good," Rose tells you, walking off in search of something else to play.

Donna follows close behind, and you follow her, waiting for them to select the next game. You lost to both of them, after all, so they should get the next pick. As they look around at the games, however, you wonder if they're going to pick something because they think it looks fun, or because they think they'll have a clear advantage.

"There!" Donna declares, pointing at one of the arcade machines labeled "Road Rumbler". You recognize it right away as a fighting game, which might explain why the amazon picked it.

Rose doesn't object, so Donna leads the way over, standing on one side of the two-player cabinet and looking at the controls in confusion. Rose does the same, so you decide to let them play the first round against each-other, so they can get a feel for it.

They put in their tokens and go through the character select screen, quickly figuring out how that works and choosing their fighters after a few moments of trying to figure out which one is the strongest. In the end, they wind up picking characters pretty much at random, and face-off in a match that's just sad compared to their awesome dance competition.

They spend about thirty seconds learning the basic controls, then start actually attacking one-another, using only basic attacks, blocking, and jumping around. Rose seems to get frustrated at her inability to jump back when Donna attacks, ultimately resorting to just blocking after a while. With this strategy, Donna eventually manages to wear her down and win the first round.

Round two is much faster, with Rose showing some serious frustration as she continues to play rather poorly. Donna's not exactly playing like an expert either, but the dark-haired girl is doing markedly better, and ultimately wins the second round as well, securing her victory.

Rose growls and steps back as Donna grins victoriously.

"Don't be upset," Donna tells the other girl. "This game is new to both of us. I had fun competing with you."

>Continued
>>
>Continued

She seems quite genuine about that. Despite her competitive nature, she's not being a sore winner. Good to know.

Now, you're up. Rose tells you to go ahead and play against Donna. She'll sit back and watch.

You step up to the game cabinet, put in your token, select your character, and wait for the match to begin. This game in particular isn't one you've played a whole lot, but you've played other games in its series, and visited this arcade more than once with Beast Boy. You know fighting games well enough to understand combos, which your two friends evidently do not.

Now, you have the advantage.

It would be so easy to just crush Donna in this game right here, right now. But, you want to give her some small chance, make it actually a competition. She's never played before, so your help won't be enough for her to beat you tonight, but it will make you feel a little better about beating her, and she'll probably appreciate it.

So, you tell her that this round will be for practice, and ask Rose to come over so that you can explain to them the finer details of playing this game. You spend the round going through the core of what they'll need to know to play this game with any level of effectiveness. Then, once that is done, you put another token into the machine and challenge Donna for real.

It's a slaughter. Donna may now understand the basics of how to play, but you've actually played games like these more than once, and are able to easily deal with her attempts to defeat you. You defeat her twice in a row, and she steps away from the machine, conceding the victory to you.

Robin needs to find some way to attract non-pedo villains to Jump City. Pic related, clearly not a pedo.
>>

ah fuck yeah, we better get manuel to
>>
>>2329308
Exactly, anon. Rose's primary problems are internal. Pete's are largely external, with faces that can be kicked. External threats are always an issue for superhero dating.

Pete's internal conflicts are identity issues, and he's been remarkably chill about them. The principle conflict for him is what to do about the old relationships he's inherited from Sam, but he's dealing with that issue in a pretty sober way.

>>2329323
Precisely. We should be a good friend to Rose. That said, if she falls in love with Pete, that'll be some juicy drama, even if Pete does the right thing and doesn't jump into a relationship with her.

MoG, what I'm looking forward to the most regarding Snowflame (other than you trying your hand at that magnificent bastard) is the unique problem he poses in combat.

He outclasses any individual Titan, but for the full team of seven, he's definitely outmatched. The problem is defeating him. Because he's so resistant to pain the line between incapacitation and death is razor thin. Don't go hard enough and he's still able to fight at full capacity, and would be a nightmare for the cops to take into custody. Go too hard and you might wind up a murderer.

Also, if you end up using that fan comic about Snowflame, there's the whole 'accidental shaman channeling the nature spirit of cocaine' thing.

>>2329363
I may have to sit out the Snowflame battle because I'm worried I'll subconsciously pick votes that let him get away.
>>
>>2329363
If I'm remembering correctly, Snowflame can get people contact high by touching them, can't he?
>>
>>2329376
Correct. I had forgotten about that. According to the DC wiki he has the following powers:

Superhuman Strength, Superhuman Speed, Immunity to Pain, Pyrokinesis, Cocaine Touch (Touching Snowflame was sufficient to give The Floronic Man a contact high.)

Unlisted here though is he was able to manipulate the highs of the people around him as well.

He'll definitely be a handful.

Also relinking the fancomic because it was genuinely interesting, and a fairly speedy read.

I can say with total honesty that you will not witness your waifu get raped to death.

>no wincest option
>no silkie option

This poll is rigged
>>
>>2330437
MoG already agreed in previous threads that Silkie would sweep polls. Consider the winner of this poll the runner up of a true poll.

Rose and Donna are dominating here, but we'll see what happens in the long run. Last poll (shortly after the Katarou fight) had Starfire winning before being slowly overtaken by Raven over the course of the week. These polls are always going to be influenced by whoever has had the best interactions with Pete recently. If the poll had gone up just after night patrol and Cyborg was an option, he'd have led for a few days.

The real trick is measuring trends over the course of several polls. Its still plenty early yet. Anyone can win the Peterbowl.

Incest is not my fetish, but you did put in a woman who might be our mom in a previous poll.

>>

>>
>>2330468
Yeah, these polls are just to get an idea of what you anons are thinking.

Nothing is set yet, it's really just for my own information, and to generate some discussion amongst you all.
>>
>>2331223
Fair. I'd like to note, that Jinx and Cassie, who haven't had screen time in a while, are polling at zero. Poor Jinx. She was just the prologue waifu.
>>
>>2331231
She's in a committed relationship, and Cassie is off training to be the next Wonder Girl
>>
>>2331255
Yes, but you still included them in the poll. And Starfire for that matter. If it was going to be just single girls who we actually interact with, the poll would be Rose, Donna, and Raven.
>>
How about instead of having a harem or choosing a waifu that basically amounts to marriage in quests, we just be a slut and sleep around
>>
>>2331255
Serious question MoG: how willing would you be to do a homewrecker angle, where Pete finds himself falling in love with Starfire (or Jinx), and she reciprocates his interest, even if they don't actually engage in any cheating. It'd be challenging for both you and the players, and I'm not sure I'd want to take the risk myself. I just want to gauge what sort of thing you'd be willing to explore.
>>
>>2331327
That's surprisingly comics accurate. But honestly? I don't see it fitting in with what this quest currently unless somehow things change and develop towards that.
>>
>>2331330
I'd have to see how that angle would develop, and feel like it wouldn't cause the entire quest to become a mess.
>>
>>2331336
Absolutely fair.
>>
>>2331336
Also I was giving thoughts on how you would develop such an angle, then decided that I'd rather make jokes so here we go:

ROBIN ASKS STARFIRE WHAT SHE WANTS FOR HER BIRTHDAY. SHE WANTS A THREESOME. ROBIN IS A MAN OF HIS WORD.

SOME MONTHS LATER STARFIRE ASKS ROBIN WHAT HE WANTS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY. HE WANTS A THREESOME. PETER IS ONCE AGAIN READY TO SERVE.

Remind me, Pete's costume is a red martial arts jumpsuit with black stylings, and a mask covering everything but his hair and mouth, right?
>>
>>2332351
Covers his hair. Think The Flash, but without the lightning bolt 'wings'.
>>
Idea for current arcade night. A punching machine explicitly capable of withstanding super strength, with listed ratings corresponding to famous heroes.
>>
>>2332653
Cool idea, though I wonder why they'd have that here.

Pete can "cheat" by doing a regular punch over a psychic punch, coupled with extra "oomph" from using "flight" to propell himself at the right time.
>>
>>2332659
Novelty. Good marketing. Also you never know where a metahuman might pop up. Of course, this machine would not actually be capable of taking a Superman punch unless the force is measured by lasers instead of a accelerometer pad.

Maybe it's officially licensed by the Justice League.
>>
>>2332696
Now that's just a lovely thought.
>>
>>2332707
Thank you. It also gives Donna another game she can win at. She's going to be at a severe disadvantage at racing and shooting, but flipside, she's not guaranteed to win punching if it's a measure of speed. Rose could pull it off with superior technique and KC could win by accelerating with flight.
