You feel an urgency which compels you to climb. You have almost reached the star at the tip of the titan’s hand where your glory awaits you. You eagerly draw your sword to slay the beasts which lie within, when you are suddenly flung down to the ground by the giant as he angrily bellows a rebuke you cannot understand.

The ground approaches faster than ever before as you are nearly driven mad by a choir of reproaching voices which chant in the old tongue.

You collide with the earth face-first, becoming the center of a terrible explosion that you somehow survive. The earth around you is blasted up, and the dust blinds you. You hear the calls black prey from all sides, growing louder with each passing moment.

You lie on your back as you see the outline of a figure approach you in the thick cloud of dust.

The figure grows clearer as it continues to come closer. As you see their dreadlocks and mask you realize it is the leader whose sarcophagus you disturbed and whose arms you climbed, now of normal size.

He raises a hand to point accusatively at you, and you are shocked when he speaks with your mentor’s voice, as the sounds of the beasts in the clouds grow ever louder.

“Honorless whelp! How will I hunt alongside the Black Warrior now, without my weapon? Who will defend us from these beasts, if not me? You have doomed us both!”

Just as he finishes his sentence a swarm of beasts descend upon him from the dust. He cries out agony as he disappears into a film of fluorescent blood and gore as the swarm consumes him.

The beasts turn and fall upon you. To your horror, as you raise your hand to defend, you find the blade of your sword has rusted away. The hilt swings uselessly against the beast which is first to land as it sinks its teeth into your neck. You scream in pain as the swarm tears you apart and eats you alive.

You awake with a start as the ship hits the ground. As you look outside the cockpit window with wide eyes you see you’ve arrived at the dojo.

The sound of the engine dies down as you hear the voice of Frost-Mantle.

“Uneasy sleep? We’ve arrived. Let’s go. I still need to talk to Burning-Spear about my scans.”

“Right.” You say, as you rise.

He leads the way through his ship as you both head towards the ramp.

You are both careful to avoid your vomit as you exit the ship.

“You’ve really made a mess of things. If only you had finished earlier, cleaning this would have been a good task for the younglings. If this wasn’t right after your blooding I’d have you do it now!”, he says.

“I appreciate the lenience.”, you respond, and he laughs.

As you approach the training grounds from the clearing nearby which you landed in, you notice a fire in the center of the training rounds and the carcass of a wolf above, roasting on a spit, as two figures surround the flames. The one in heavy armor must be your mentor.

“Look.”, you say.

“That must be our mentor talking to the envoy. Hopefully he leaves soon. That way the remaining food is ours!”, Frost-Mantle responds.

His words make you realize that you haven’t eaten for over a day. You feel starving.

As you draw closer one of the figures makes a gesture of respect towards the other and turns to walk along to the path leading away from the dojo.

Your mentor Burning-Spear remains, staring into the flames as he ponders something, when you approach him. He turns when he hears you.

“You survived. I see you bear many trophies, but also many wounds, and something else too.”

He looks towards Frost-Mantle.

“What are you here for? Eager to have your fill of my food?”
Frost-Mantle stiffens as he responds. “I-I only wished to talk about my scans. Have you decided what to do, mentor?”

“I have already done all I need to. I sent them to the Hunter responsible for the maintenance of these trial grounds, along with some harsh words. No more of my students will be tested there until the prey has been brought down to manageable levels.”

After a pause, he continues.

“You’ve done good work, Frost-Mantle. Now take your fill to your ship and leave us. I have things to discuss with Ebon-Fang.”

“O-of course, mentor, and thank you for your generosity.”
Frost-Mantle eagerly approaches the spittle and grabs two large chunks of meat from the carcass with his hands, before walking back to his ship.

After he is some ways off your mentor speaks.

“I see you have a new weapon. I trust it is not one you smuggled onto my ship. Where is its source?”

Do you:
>A. Tell him the whole truth. You found it in the sarcophagus of what seemed to be a great leader, in an ancient burial ground.
>B. Tell him you found it on the corpse of a dead Yautja.

You recount your tale, starting with when you spotted the cave from the nearby tributary.

He raises an eyebrow when you describe the entrance to the cave, and your decision to enter.

You describe your long walk through the tunnels, and the artwork which you saw above the entrance to the burial chamber.

When you tell him about your decision to open the main sarcophagus he looks furious and shouts in anger.

“Have all my lessons been for naught? Upon leaving the trial ground, and my watchful eye, you immediately forgot your honor! It does not matter how many beasts you slay or how many clever traps you construct, if you forget your honor, and deface that of others! Am I to sponsor the ascension of a grave robber? What do you have to say for yourself?”

>A. Your mentor is wrong. Weapons are no use to the dead, and the dead have no honor. It is better that you have his weapon.
>B. Your mentor is right. You should not have robbed the sarcophagus, but now that you have, the best way to regain your own honor and honor the dead is to use the weapon as best as you can.
>C. Your mentor is right. You should not have robbed the sarcophagus and should not further dishonor yourself by using the weapon. You will let your mentor have the sword and do what he wills with it.
>>
>>2323015
The dream is just a dream. Ebon-Fang felt guilty because he went against his mentor's teachings (something maybe I should have made more apparent you are doing last thread). Don't try to predict the future or anything. It's not prophecy.

I'd say B or C. I would say we took it out of curiosity, rather than greed, and that we weren't sure anyone would believe us about what we found without proof.

Previous thread:

>The passage widens. You enter a large chamber. From the stone sarcophagi pressed into the sides of the walls, you realize this is the burial chamber.

>In the center of the room, there is a sarcophagus larger than the others.

>You approach. On the outside it there is an image of the majestic Yautja from before. They wear a mask, hands clasped together at their chest, holding the hilt of a sword, blade pointing downwards at their toes.

>Do you open the sarcophagus?

>Yes
>No

Fish, you might have mentioned these customs and traditions Ebon-Fang was taught.

We didn't even get a vote on taking stuff. We just voted to open the sarcophagus.

Now we have to deal with out pissed off Mentor?
>>
>>2323197
I should have made it more obvious, yes. Because I did not the consequences will not extend beyond this scolding. You don't have much to worry about I'm not going to "mentor falls on you: you die" you guys. You might piss him off if you use the non-respectful option though.

I'll try to fit something like this in too.
>>
>>2323139
“You are right, mentor, I had no right to take the sword, but it is better that I did, in hindsight.”

Incredulous, he starts at that, but you continue.

“Unsheathing the weapon revealed something which might have sullied his honor more than my actions did. When I took the sword, it triggered a trap. The sarcophagus and the floor beneath me fell, into a deep pit, inside of which were more than a hundred black beasts, nesting. There is no doubt that they would have soon discovered the burial chamber and made their homes there. Is it not better that the weapon is with me, rather than with them? I have already managed to slay two foes with this weapon. I even decapitated a hunter, just as he did on the relief. There is no greater honor I can give him than restoring his weapon to glory, and no better way to regain my lost honor.”

There is a pregnant pause, and your mentor seems mollified.

“True enough. But you didn’t know the beasts were below before taking the sword. The gambler who wins is just as much a fool as the one who loses, just one more lucky. Do not think to repeat your foolishness. When I die, do not rob my grave for my weapons, thinking it will ‘honor me’.”

He puts his hand to his chin.

“Though your tale gives me pause, such ancient ruins should not exist here. It is too fantastical to simply be a lie. Perhaps, when the island is cleansed, someone from the Library can investigate the site. But enough about the sword. Show me your trophies!”

You begin to offer your trophies, but when it becomes clear you have more than he can comfortably hold in his hands you are forced to move to a nearby table on which students usually practice weapon maintenance.

Once your trophies are arrayed on the table your mentor speaks.

“Five trophies. They must have gotten smaller since my blooding...”

He continues.

“I know of no one who has claimed so great a number. Some would question if you took two from the same beast. You’ve given me something to brag to the other elders about. I will clean your trophies and have the other elders examine them before the ceremony tomorrow morning.”

“Thank you, mentor.” You respond.

“Go, enjoy the roast. Clean it up when you are done. You can return your disc tomorrow after your ceremony.”

You go to the spit as your mentor grabs a bag from inside the dojo and returns to collect your trophies, stopping to give you a flask before retiring for the evening.

You are ravenous and eat incessantly for the next few minutes. You slake your first with the flask afterwards and find that your mentor has given you ale.

Your wounds still ache, and you feel lightheaded, not just because of the ale. You wonder if you should visit the medical bay. At such a late time, it is probably the only thing of significance that is open.

You are lucky that your so-called family will not return to the lodge until noon. You could go and rest there undisturbed.

Alright, going with:
>A. Head to the medical bay to be treated
>>

You finish off as much of the meat as you can manage before sliding the carcass off the spit and walking along the pathway to the road with corpse and flask in hand.

You drop the wolf in a nearby wastebin as you make your way to the medical bay.

Almost an hour later, drunker and more weary, you finally arrive with an empty flask. You throw it in a bin outside and enter the main lobby.

A lone medical attendant sits behind a desk in the lobby, and speaks when he notices you.

“You look like a mess, even with your bandages. Fresh from your blooding?”

“I am.” You respond.

“Who’s your mentor?”

“Burning-Spear.”

“Really? My own had good things to say about him. No need for the fee right after your blooding. Follow me to the surgical pod.” He says as he steps up from his chair and towards the doors leading deeper into the medbay.”

You follow him, and he tells you to remove your bandages and your weapons before entering the surgical pod.

Reluctantly, you comply with a stare that makes clear what will occur if something happens to your weapons and lay down into the surgical pod.

“Let me run some scans.”

You hear a hum as something slides over you, scanning your entire body.

”Let’s see here. Burns on the hand, arm, leg, and chest. Small lacerations on the forearms. Lacerations on the shoulder. Deep lacerations on the back. Bruised ribs. Bruised neck. Blood levels at 78%. I’ve seen worse in whelps.”

You feel heady as the anesthetic takes effect. You feel the machine close your wounds with biogel, along with a prick in your arm. An ointment is also rubbed on your burns.

Some time later the surgeon speaks.

“I’ve closed the wounds and given you a transfusion that takes you up to 92%. You should be good as new in a few days.”

The cover of the pod slides open, and you step outside, taking your weapons and armor before thanking the surgeon and leaving the medical bay.

You head to your lodgings, weary in earnest now. With your hunger sated, thirst slaked, and wounds mended, all that remains is for you to sleep.

After half-an-hour more of walking, you finally reach your humble lodgings, and yours alone, for this night at least. You make your way to your room and bed.

You put your sword and disc under your bed, before falling on top of it and entering into a dreamless sleep.

You put your sword and disc under your bed, before falling on top of it and entering a dreamless sleep.

The light of day wakes you. You rise from your bed and lean against your armor rack. As you shake off your slumber, you realize you stink.

It is convenient that there is no one here to bother you. You go through your morning ritual and cleanse yourself. When that is done you take your weapons from under your bed along with your primitive wrist computer and leave the lodging through the front door, after drinking some water from the cookery’s faucet.

Wearing your nearly tattered ceremonial light armor, you walk towards the dojo to meet your mentor. The sun is low in the sky. Before it reaches its zenith, you will have become a full-fledged Clan Hunter.

You walk through the path which leads to the training grounds as you did countless times before. You notice others have trodden this path today.

You approach your mentor, who has your trophies arrayed on the same table as before. They glisten now that the dirt and grime which covered them is gone.

You approach your mentor from behind, and he speaks.

“You should have seen their faces. My fellow elders did not believe me when I told them one of my students had won five trophies, but they couldn’t argue with what lies here, and none dared to doubt your honor and accuse you of deceit in my presence, even if it’s what some thought.”

“You honor me, mentor.”

“No.” he responds. “I will honor you when I give you your dreadlocks, but that is not for a few hours. Feel free to walk around the city, proudly displaying what you’ve won. I remind you that trial trophies make excellent gifts. If you give one to whoever is in charge of the Armory, they will likely gift you some choice weapons in return.”

You walk to the table and begin attaching your shining trophies to your belt. You wonder if you should give one to your mentor.

As you ponder this, you notice a communication on your wrist computer from your brother. It seems your family has returned to your lodgings from their trip.

You decide to:

>A. Offer your mentor a trophy. (choose one of the options below if you choose A)
>>1. worker drone head
>>2. partly bisected hunter head
>>3. hunter tail tip
>>4. runner tail tip
>>5. hunter claw
>B. Do not offer your mentor a trophy.
You then decide to head towards:
>C. The Armory, where you can get proper weapons and armor.
>D. The alehouse, where you will show off your trophies to other Yautja.
>E. Your lodgings, where you will show your so-called family what you’ve won. You doubt your father will be pleased. He is angered whenever you best his real son.
>>
>>2326268
Oh, you also have the option of
>F. The Archives, where you might find something which explains what you discovered in the trial ground.
But if you choose that there will be exposition which might be agonizing to write.

>>
>>2326268
The claw is last on the table when you take it. You hold it in both hands as you bow before your mentor and offer it to him with words.

“This is the claw of the beast which dealt me my most severe wounds. I offer it to you, mentor. Without your many lessons I would never have been so successful in my trial.”

He accepts the claw, stowing it to his belt, and he responds.

”I accept your gift.” He pauses. “I was going to ask for my disc back. I’m still going to ask for it back, but I will give you something better to replace it, a weapon from my younger years.”

He detaches something which you didn’t before notice from his belt. It is a smaller disc than the one you have.

“This weapon served me well long ago. While it is smaller and less capable of powerful blows in melee than the simple one you used in your trial, more suited for carving through flesh than through armor, its tracking and flight capabilities still match those of the advanced smart discs, able to guide itself to a foe and return to your hand mid-flight if recalled. Connect it to a mask and you will be able to issue it more complicated commands. It is a difficult weapon to defend against, something which requires quick reflexes and precise aim.”

You accept the weapon with both hands and then hand him the disc you used in your trial. You stow your new disk to your belt.

Your mentor speaks as he turns to leave the training ground.

“Go, now. I will see you at the Ritual Hall later. Enjoy your remaining moments of youth. Not long after the ceremony, you will become an old Yautja like me… if you are lucky.”

He chuckles at his final words as he enters the dojo. You are left alone in the trial ground. You leave along the path and head towards the armory.

When you arrive at the armory, you see a female sitting behind the metal-barred requisition window. She sees you, looking not at all impressed by the trophies which you have adorned your body with, and talks.

“What do you want, whelp? You don’t look like you can afford what I have here. It is better that you get lost before I call the guards to get rid of a vagrant.”

You know she is right. You do not have the credits for anything useful, but while you don’t have credits, you do have trophies.

Which trophy do you offer the standoffish quartermaster? You know, the more she appreciates your trophy, the more time she is likely to let you spend in the armory.

>A. worker drone head
>B. partly bisected hunter head
>C. hunter tail-tip
>D. runner tail-tip
>>
>>2326531
What are the two most impressive trophies we have? The hunter head and tail?
>>
>>2326539
The partly bisected head is the most valuable. The hunter tail-tip is below that, and only slightly better than the worker drone head.
She wouldn't really appreciate the runner tail-tip.
>>
>>2326531
>C. hunter tail-tip

>>
>>2326551
>>2326531
Mmk with this in mind I vote for the Hunter head and if other anons agree give her the hunter tail tip as well to score some bonus gear or better quality stuff. The armourer is always someone you want on your side
>>
>>2326531

>you are left alone in the training ground
>>
>>2326531
>>B. partly bisected hunter head
>>
>>2326560
I will say that this is the opportunity to splurge. There is not much other stuff to get with trophies. You wouldn't be able to afford a ship even if you gave all four to someone. I would save something for your personal collection, or for bribes, though.

Also, you know that your father expects his due. He will demand his tribute when he next sees you and he will be angry if you've given the best trophies away. But you aren't a whelp anymore. Maybe you'll decide to tell him to fuck off.
>>
>>2326591
Ok I keep my vote in place for the hunter head but we can save the hunter tip for later. Still though if any anons want to throw a second, less valuable trophy in to sweeten the pot I'm all for it
>>
>>2326609
Maybe a runner tale tip as we can't do much else with it.
>>
Alright, I'll go with you guys giving her the partially bisected head and runner tail tip.
>>
>>2326591
Give the least valuable to father and tell him to kill himself for not believing in us
>>
>>2326682
Yeah fuck that guy!
>>
>>2326531
You genuflect to the quartermaster as you approach her.

“I have come to gift you my trial trophies, honorable quartermaster. I slew these beasts just yesterday, and my mentor cleaned the trophies this morning. There are none more fit for you to possess.”

You unlatch the hunter head and runner tail and place them on the desk near the window, bowing your head and awaiting her response.

“Hmph. You think these will cause me to gift you some gear in turn? Well, you’re right.” She hits a button which causes the secure door on the wall next to the window to open. “Quickly, come inside and I will lead you to it.”

The door closes behind you as you walk inside.

She leads you through the large armory, and you find yourself in a hallway flanked by many doors leading to storage rooms.

“Go, loot to your heart’s content, but don’t take more than you can wear. Quickly, before I tire of examining these trophies.” She holds one up, and stares. “Why is this one missing half of its head? How am I supposed to show my sucklings something so disgusting…”

As she trails off you decide which room you will enter first:

>>2326740
I'd advise not leaving without some kind of armor. Armor room is where you will find your cloak too.

If you had medium armor you would have been able to take far more abuse during your trial.

You run to the gadget room.

Walking in, you find many devices mounted on the wall. First, you choose your mask.

>A. Scout Mask. This lightweight mask with variable vision modes has great vision range and resolution, as well as advanced terrain tracking features. Though it has acceptable tracking speed at all ranges, it is not very durable.
>B. Duelist Mask. This mask has lightning quick tracking speed at melee range, improving your melee reflexes and predicting arriving blows. It is highly durable, but it does not aid your long-range vision at all.
>C. Ranger Mask. This mask is made to aid ranged combat. A ballistic computer greatly decreases the response time for plasma-caster tracking. It is of medium durability and does not aid its user much in melee.
>D. Tech Mask. This strange mask has advanced networking and cyberwarfare capabilities, and contains programs used to analyze and scan technological equipment. It can be used to interfere with enemy communications, spoof sensors, and impede the fighting ability of synthetics. It has acceptable tracking speed at all ranges but is not very durable.

I like the tech mask but I think this will come in handy more often
>>
Alright, going with Duelist Mask.
>>
A duelist mask is a little too CQB for an Operator ain't it? of the four its infact the worst for it I think. No long range tracking, no tech boosts no nothing. Only better melee at the cost of all the other stuff. Not really worth it for our build?
>>
>>2326886
All he has so far is a sword, disk and he is cunning. I don't see an issue, our "build" isn't written stone.
>>

besides we already played an opredator once with three-claw, why not try something else?
>>
>>2326886
going relatively low-tech and melee-heavy sounds fun to me
>>
>>2326886
Yeah as the others have said, all we have right now is a sword and we haven't really settled on a build. I don't see an issue with it. We use our cunning to lure enemies into traps, kill them with our weapons, etc etc. Doesn't mean we can't use ranged weapons at all, we just wont be optimized for it
>>
>>2326788
You take the well-armored, brutal-looking mask and don it, hooking it up to your wrist computer.

You punch the air experimentally a few times but feel no difference. Perhaps the function of the mask will become more noticeable when you defend against enemy attacks.

You draw your smart disc, and connect it to your wrist computer, which links the disc and mask. You see the mask does offer control over the disc, but it is likely simpler than what the others might have offered.

You pass over the discs hanging from the wall of this storage room, not wanting to waste any time. You decide you have time to grab one more gadget before going to the armor room.

You decide to take the:
>A. Las-mine dispenser. This small, pump-powered weapon can fling laser-triggered trip-mines which stick to surfaces. It can hold up to five mines. To fire any more, you would have to reload.
>B. Advanced medical kit. This compact, integrated medical kit can be used to stabilize even severely wounded hunters.
>C. Concealed wrist-blade. This single wrist-blade blends right in with your wrist computer, and is resists detection by scans. You could sneak it into even the most secure areas.

Alright, going with:
>B. Advanced medical kit. This compact, integrated medical kit can be used to stabilize even severely wounded hunters.
>>
>>2326918
You take the medical kit and run towards the armor storage room.

As you pass through the hallway, you hear the quartermaster loudly proclaiming her disgust for the brains of the hunter as she stares at your trophy.

You enter the armor storage room and see a long line of racks where armor is displayed.

You decide to take the:
>A. Light Armor - This armor is little more than a set of harnesses, which allow for unhindered movement at the cost of protection. Nothing is armored aside from your back, which is covered by a thin plate, your knees, and your feet. You notice the soles of the boots are made to minimize the sound and tracks made by moving, and that it comes with climbing gloves which would allow you to climb even sheer walls without handholds, if not weighed down. Cloak drains slower in this armor.
>B. Medium Armor - The most commonly encountered armor among Yautja. Large armored plates cover your back, front, and sides. Light scales cover your shoulders and thighs, and armored boots protect your lower legs and feet. Provides a balance of protection and mobility, but does weigh you down somewhat. Cloak drains at a normal rate in this armor.
>C. Heavy Armor - The armor worn by many senior ranking Hunters and those first to charge into where the fighting is thickest. Metal plates cover every inch of your body, and your strength is enhanced by the actuators inside of the suit’s joints. Though it greatly increases your strength and durability, it weighs you down heavily, and makes it more difficult to dodge or quickly change directions, as well as not being the best suited for stealth. Cloak drains faster in this armor.

Oh medium also has kneeguards which I neglected to mention.

You remove your belt and put on the different pieces of medium armor over your hide and leather armor, not wanting to waste any time. It is a tight fit, and while you feel heavier, you also feel a great deal more protected. The armor plates should be able to withstand most blows not specifically intended to pierce armor, as well as a good amount of impacts from primitive ballistic weapons of medium caliber. Unfortunately, it does not seem like these plates can well withstand the scorching impact of a plasma bolt.

After confirming that the armor’s honor device is linked to your wrist-computer, you head over to the power units which would power your cloak and plasma weapons.

You decide to take:
>A. Hunter pack – This light backpack has an average energy capacity and a fusion charger which can recharge from zero to full in six hours. It holds enough energy for fifty plasma caster shots and fifteen minutes of uninterrupted cloaking time, if using a standard cloak.
>B. Titan pack – This heavy backpack has a huge energy capacity, almost quadruple that of the hunter pack, but it can only be charged from a different energy source, such as those found in armories or aboard hunting ships. It holds enough energy for one-hundred and sixty plasma caster shots and an hour of uninterrupted cloaking time, if using a standard cloak.
>C. Runner pack – This nearly unnoticeable backpack has a low energy capacity, holding enough energy for fifteen plasma caster shots and seven and a half minutes of uninterrupted cloaking time, with a standard cloak, but has efficient dual fusion chargers which can fully recharge the weapon in just half an hour.

Does this mean we recharge a shot every 2 minutes or do we need to empty it first and then wait out the full charge time?

No it is constantly recharging passively, so you will actually be able to cloak for longer than I mention. The times I mention is how long it would be if it was not recharging.
Plasma casters run off this pack energy. Other weapons like plasma pistols will be able to run off pack energy and possibly separate magazines. Stuff like spear guns doesn't run off of energy.

It's not light armor. Heavy armor does have significant disadvantages. All stealth and climbing rolls would be harder. Also, I forgot to mention that powering the servos drains power at a constant rate. You can use it without activating the servos but basically everything will be harder to do.
Besides you'll be visiting the armory before other future missions so you'll have a chance to pick out some different gear.
>>
>>2327584
actuators... not servos, whoops.

Heavy gear would have my support if we had gone that road right from start and chose strength or big size.

We can play it as the mask covers some of our weaknesses up close, and use our cunning and efficient armor and back back to get the jump on prey.

Weapon choice will be important though.
>>
>>2327453
You take the small runner pack and attach it to your armor. The energy indicator appears on your mask’s heads up display. It is currently at full charge.

You turn your eyes to the cloaking systems.

You choose:
>A. Chameleon cloak – The standard cloak. Good cloaking on the light and thermal spectrums. You are nearly invisible while standing, but while moving perceptive enemies can easily spot you due to its shimmering.
>B. Ghost cloak – This cloak offers perfect cloaking, both when moving and standing still. However, it drains energy at twice the rate of the Chameleon cloak and grows hot on extended use, making you easy to detect by thermals.
>C. Plasma cloak – This isn’t a cloak like the others. If a plasma bolt comes close to hitting you a magnetic energy shield will negate the attack, at the cost of energy equal to ten normal plasma caster shots. It takes thirty minutes for the cloak to recharge after the defense system is activated. If it activated while you have less than ten units of energy left in your pack, it will take forty-five minutes to recharge. It has no effect against ballistic or melee weapons.

You take the chameleon cloaking system and attach it to your wrist computer.

You run out of this room, towards the weapon storage room. In the hallway you see the quartermaster examining the tail, commenting on its small size. You don’t have much time before she loses interest.

You enter the weapons storage room. On the left side extends a long line of racked range weapons. On the opposite side there are many spears and wrist-blades.

You quickly decide which weapons to take. You already have a sword.
>Choose two:
>A. Standard combi-stick – The models here are heavier than those you train with in the dojo, but otherwise unremarkable.
>B. Light wrist-blades – These two short retractable blades are sharp, swift, and light, and can be retracted when not in use, but they have poor reach, and are more difficult to use to block.
>C. Heavy wrist-blades – These two brutal blades are heavy, long, and strong. With all your weight behind a stab you could easily pierce armor. They are better for blocking than the light blades, however, they cannot be retracted and could interfere with your movement.
>D. Standard plasma caster – This plasma-caster is much like those you have trained with before at the dojo, except the tracking malus which was placed on the training casters to improve your aim is gone.
>E. Spear gun – This long-range, scoped weapon fires a metal spear. It is a relatively silent weapon.
>F. Net gun – This gun fires a net-ball which can extend to trap its target in a sharp, metal netting, and can be commanded to constrict and slice its target apart.
>G. Plasma pistol – This unfamiliar weapon has slightly lower yield than the plasma caster but fires more quickly. It is easier to quickly change targets with this weapon than with the plasma caster, and you can use it to fire at blind spots such as your left side more easily than with the caster. It can use your suits energy or standard plasma pistol magazines.

Rather range sided choice, but will not strain our plasma battery.
We need wrist blade as a backup weapon, but I trust we can do enough damage with disc in case we lose our sword
>>
Going with light wrist blades and plasma pistol
>>
>>2327819
I am fine with that
>>
>>2327732
You attach your wrist-blades, extend them, and give a few swipes through the air. You feel your movements are totally unhindered.

You take the plasma pistol and attach it to your belt, and to your power pack using a cord when there is a knock on the door leading to this storage room. The door opens to reveal the quartermaster.

“Time’s up, whelp. You’ve taken more than enough.”

Reluctantly, you leave the weapons storage room as she leads you out of the Armory.

She speaks as she bids you goodbye, opening the secure door next to the requisitions window.

“You better thank Burning-Spear. If not for his request I would not have let you in, no matter how many trophies you had offered.”

You thank the quartermaster, exiting the armory. Very soon now, it will be time for your ascension ceremony. You make your way to the Ritual Hall.
>>

It'll be very useful in melee if you are using the sword, disc, or wrist blades.
Things that were before medium-hard like fighting hunters will become easy-medium. You can easily solo hunters with your sword now. You won't even have to roll to BTFO runners, and failure with your armor is less bad.

You arrive at the Ritual Hall. It is the grandest building nearby. Here is where nearly all the unblooded of the Stone-Hawk clan that succeed in their trials go to become full-fledged clan hunters.

On the cornice above the entrance, there is a stone statue of a hawk spreading its wings and preparing to fly.

You enter through the double doors beneath and see your mentor in the entrance hall. He sees you and speaks.

“I see you have visited the quartermaster. I hope she did not give you much trouble.”

“No more than I could handle.” You respond.

“Good to hear. I can see you are well equipped. Unfortunately, you will have to take your new gear off. For the ceremony, you should not have more than what you left the trial ground with.”

You nod, and he lead you to the preparation room where, he gestures to a storage trunk locked to a nearby wall, while handing you a key.

“Your gear will be safe inside. You can come back for it after the ceremony, or perhaps after the festivities. It might be wiser not to have all those weapons on you when you are picking fights at the alehouse, but it’s your choice.”

You grunt in understanding, and almost reluctantly remove your new gear, putting it into the truck and locking it. All you have now are your two remaining trophies, your sword, and your damaged ceremonial light armor.

“Are you ready, Ebon-Fang?”

“I am.”

“Then follow me into the main hall.”

He leads you into the ritual hall, in the center of which is a chair raised on an elevated platform. Surrounding the platform, you see the clan-elders, none of whom you know.

The elder opposite the entrance steps forward, and gives a speech, one he must have given hundreds of times before. When he is finished your mentor approaches him and he gives your mentor the braiding tools.

Your mentor walks behind you as you sit in the chair. He cracks a joke before beginning, causing some of the elders surrounding you to chuckle.

“Let’s see if he bears the pain as well as his trophies.”

You suddenly feel a stinging pain in your scalp as your mentor begins the braiding. You tightly grip the armrests of your chair and grit your fang.

Three hours later the painful task is finished, to your great relief.

Your mentor walks to one of the elders who offers him a clay tablet and a stylus.

He walks to you, handing you the tools, and speaks.

“Now, you are a Hunter of the Stone-Hawk Clan. Every Hunter has his sigil. What will yours be?”

You decide to draw:
>A. A hawk in flight
>B. A claw
>C. Two hands holding a sword upwards
>D. A spearhead
>E. Something else
>>
>>2328601
Could it be that weird split head skull we got?
>>
>>2328601
>>C. Two hands holding a sword upwards

>>
I don't see what the fuss is. Standard cloak? Medium Armour? Looks good, neither of these choices will stop us from upgrading in either direction once we have a better idea of our overall career. I missed the vote for weapons but light wrist blades and plasma pistol works great with our sword. We have a duelist mask which makes us a beast in melee, did you forget that our only claim to fame so far is that we found an amazing sword?

We could hold the sword in our right hand and duel wield the plasma pistol in our left hand 40k style. Our mentor also gave us a smart disk, we could throw that and then draw our sword afterwards while controlling it with our mask. If anything gets up in our face carrying either of the above won't stop us from using our wrist blades. The light versions are bad at blocking but we have a sword. More trophies and more equipment will come in time.
>>
>>2328618
Well, it is your personal sigil, and those tend to be not of prey that Yautja have killed but of stuff which helps them kill prey, or something which makes them seem fearsome and predatory (like the hawk).
So I don't think you should draw a sigil of something from a Xenomorph. It'd be considered weird to have prey as your symbol.
>>
>>2328601
Could we do both arms raised to the heavens like in the mural of the guys sword we nicked?
>>
>>2328654
Now I'm thinking of a guy who has a sigil that is just two words; "Tonight, you.".
>>
>>2328601
>>2328619
I like having the sword in the picture, but maybe we can spice it up a little. Maybe hold the sword in one hand, and cross our forearms so we can hold another weapon in the other hand? We could also have our head in the picture above our crossed arms. Someone mentioned wanting to make a knight sort of character so maybe we could have a special mask that looks more knightly than the standard one, there must be a Yautja god of heavily armoured martial badassery.

>>2328657
Incorporating the sigil of the guy in the tomb would also be honourable, we did nick his sword after all.
>>
>>2328657
If you were so audacious as to imitate him, sure. Better live up to it! People won't know what it refers to, though.

I can suggest an option that might leave most people satisfied:
>An arm raising a sword to the star-filled night sky
That one is both fearsome, because you have the sword, and it imitates him.
>>2328660
It should be one thing which is focused on, not two. Sometimes less is more.

It is little more than an aesthetic choice but it might pop up in conversation here or there.

>>2328679

Here's a recap of the tomb we found:

>Moving onwards for what feels like almost an hour, you see something other than darkness ahead. Above a passageway, there is some kind of artwork. You strain your eyes to see what is depicted in the darkness.

>In the beginning, on the left, you see depictions of Yautja. They move in lockstep, holding spears, thrusting them at serpents, lizards, and other beasts you don't recognize. Most of the Yuatja are consumed in by the various beasts, and many that seem to live bear horrible wounds.

>Then there is a different scene. Yautja are digging into the ground, trying to unearth something. High in this scene is a Yautja with a headress, the only one. You notice this Yautja wears clothing. All others are naked.

>You keep reading this story. Something is unearthed, something radiant which you can't describe. The clothed Yautja holds this radiance in their hand and the light seems to move right into their eyes, the radiance now shining from their headdress.

In the next scene, the clothed Yautja, now looking more powerful, sits on a throne, with a raised hand. It seems to dictate something to others which surround it, and you see they begin some kind of work, striking the earth, building forges, forging weapons and armor.

>In the next scene, they march in lockstep again, but this time no one is naked. All the Yautja wear armor and bear sharper weapons. The Yautja with the headdress is in the front, beheading a serpent with a marvelous sword. It is a slaughter of beasts, and they flee, with none of your kin having been harmed or consumed like before.

>You move your eyes to the final scene. The Yautja with the headdress holds his hands upward, to the sky, on a star filled night. He is a giant compared to the Yautja which surround him. They climb up his arms, to the stars, wielding weapons and bearing armor, where they slay even larger and more fantastical beasts.

>In the center of the room, there is a sarcophagus larger than the others. On the outside it there is an image of the majestic Yautja from before. They wear a mask, hands clasped together at their chest, holding the hilt of a sword, blade pointing downwards at their toes.
That's a classic knight pose, holding the sword downwards also makes the sign of the cross with the hilt.

This king seems to be the savior or protector of his people and uplifted them by protecting them from beasts and arming them with weapons and armour. Do you guys want to go full DEUS VULT and attempt to live up this kingly legend? Since we already looted his tomb the most honourable thing we can do is uphold his values and make sure people remember his legend.

Ah ok.

So our sigil will be something like this. This star constellation could be the Yautja equivalent of Orion the Hunter. Something almost everyone would recognize immediately.
>>
>>2328601
You think of the relief which you saw outside the burial chamber and decide on your sigil.

You draw an arm raising a sword, the sword you possess, to a star-filled night sky. You imagine yourself raising the sword the same way before leading the yautja under your command into the fray.

You bridle your enthusiasm. There are none under your command. Even with five trophies won and this sword, all you are is a recently blooded hunter. Leadership is likely a long way off.

Your mentor clicks in approval as you finish your work.

“A good sigil. It will be stored in the annals of the clan, along with your future deeds. Make sure they are many and great.”

You hand him the tablet and stylus, and he holds the tablet up, turning around his room as he speaks to the elders.

“Hail, Ebon-Fang, newest Hunter of the Stone-Hawk clan!”

The elders that surround you cheer, some not all that enthusiastically, and that is the end of the ceremony. The elders make their way outside of the ritual chamber one by one, as you and your mentor remain.

Your mentor approaches you, as you still sit on the chair.

“Well, it’s finished. Now you are a Clan Hunter and can begin truly working for your honor, and the clan’s. On that note, I might have some work for you. Apparently one of the Matriarch’s ventures went poorly. If you are interested, come by the dojo tomorrow. For now, enjoy the celebrations. Frost-Mantle is probably waiting outside along with some of his friends to force you inside of the alehouse. Go find out. I’m going to visit the annals.”

He walks away through a door in the side of the ritual chamber. You stand up from the ritual chair, and walk to the exit.

Outside of the double doors Frost-Mantle is indeed there with some company that you don’t recognize. When he sees you he shouts out.

“I see it is finished! Now that you have become a real yautja, me and my boys will show you how a real yautja drinks!”

One of those with him responds. “We’re not your boys. Are you already drunk, to think of yourself as the leader, and us your lackeys? I’ll show you who the big yautja is when I drink you under the table like before.”

“Maybe this time, I’ll beat you under the table with my fists before that can happen.” Frost-Mantle responds.

The group laughs, and Frost-Mantle turns to look at you.

“So are you coming, or what? Come boast of your trial! This is the last, real eventful evening we will have before I go off-planet.”

You decide to:

Thanks! That's pretty close what I have in mind. The only difference is I imagined that the view was from behind the right arm when I wrote it, basically what you have but the arm flipped to the other side.

Oh, I almost forgot. For surviving his trial and becoming a Hunter Ebon-Fang has his old Fate Point replenished and has gained a new one. You now have 2 Fate Points, which can be used to automatically succeed on a roll or avoid death.

I'll just tell you guys that going to the bar with him will lead to the 2nd mission opportunity of the two which you will receive. Frost-Mantle is leaving tomorrow to go do something.
If you go with him tonight, and go meet your mentor at the dojo tomorrow, you will not have time to thoroughly investigate the Archives, if you choose to go with Frost-Mantle. If you take your mentor's mission instead you will have an extra day before you must leave.

“Certainly.” You respond. “I can’t turn down this opportunity to brag.”

Frost-Mantle responds. “That’s the spirit! You’ll be spilling all your secrets when were done with you. Let’s go, I know of a good place that’s cheap, which is good, because it is probably on me, unless you want to take it this time, Thunder-Spear.”

As you walk deeper into the city the yautja who spoke before speaks again. “Not a chance. I’d much rather take advantage of the fabled Stone-Hawk hospitality. I am your guest after all.”

”Fine, but once we are out of here, all the drinks are on you.”

From the talk that occurs on the way to the alehouse between you and your four companions, you learn their names and some other things.

The one who spoke first is Thunder-Spear of clan Thorn-Wolf, the only outsider in the group. He seems to be the oldest yautja in your group and is slightly larger than all of you except for Frost-Mantle. He currently wears medium armor. You see he has wrist-blades equipped and a combi-stick attached to his belt.

Then there is Blood-Shadow of your own clan, an older student of your mentors who you did not recognize. You never associated with him much but remember that he really loved using the net-gun on training dummies. He currently wears medium armor. He wears wrist-blades and has a combi-stick attached to his belt.

And finally, there is Azure-Blade of your own clan. He seems to be the youngest and smallest yautja in your group. He is not a student of your mentors. He currently wears light armor. He wears wrist-blades and has a knife of some kind attached to his belt.

You finally arrive at the alehouse, a somewhat seedy place not far off from the trade district of your city. Frost-Mantle speaks.

“It’s better than it looks, inside. Let’s go get our drinks!”

You go inside and all take a seat around a circular table, one of the only tables not occupied. The din of other yautjas drinking, laughing, and arguing fills your ears, as you all order your drinks.

Conversation turns to how many trophies you won during your bloodings.

“Two. Both heads. Got ‘em both with my trusty knife.” He pulls out his knife and flips it around the air dexterously. “Took my first without a scratch. Second one mauled me badly, had to make it out.” Azure-Blade boasts.

Blood-Shadow is next. “Same number for me, but I cut down my first beast too loudly, and a group descended upon me. Managed to kill one more and take its claw and outrun the rest.
>>
>>2329087
Your friend Frost-Mantle speaks. “Mine was better! I took three. I engaged two hunters in a duel and carved them both up with my comb-stick, but they stuck me pretty bad as well. Runner behind me I hadn’t noticed thought it could take me when I fell to my knees after the fight. Would have taken its head if I hadn’t crushed it against a tree like a melon when it jumped at me from behind.” He laughs uproariously at his reminiscence.

Finally, Thunder-Spear boasts of his own exploits. “Can’t really compare mine to yours. You all hunted the prey. I hunted badbloods with some friends of my mentor. Didn’t take any trophies, but I can compare kills. I killed three of those fools with nothing more than my combi-stick. All that fancy armor and weaponry didn’t matter in the end, but it made for great loot!”

When you go next, and say that you claimed five trophies, Thunder-Spear is the one to rise, with his legs hitting the table as he cries out.

“That’s crap! Don’t lie in our first meeting. Makes a bad impression.”

Frost-Mantle responds. “Come now, Thunder-Spear. I vouch for him. I extracted him from the trial ground. He came out of there with five trophies.”

“That doesn’t mean that they were all from different beasts.” He turns to you and stare into your eyes. “Admit it. You carved out something extra. Don’t lie again. That pisses me off.”

How do you respond?
>A. If you are a liar, he should have no trouble besting you in a contest. If you win, he will eat his words. (choose contest)
>>i. Drinking
>>ii. Brawl
>>iii. Duel with real weapons to first blood.
>B. No one can call you liar and get away with it. You will challenge him to a duel to the death.
>C. Say that what you said is true, whether he believes it or not.
>>

>>A. If you are a liar, he should have no trouble besting you in a contest. If you win, he will eat his words. (choose contest)

>>
Btw he is a bit bigger than you.
He'll take off his armored plates before the fight to make it fair if you choose to fight.
Less can go wrong in brawling, but you might have less of a chance to win than in a duel with weapons. Most yautja do not train to fight with or against swords, so you'd have a slight advantage in a combat with weapons.

Drinking is going to just be a dice roll, and harder because he weights more and drinks a lot.

So, weapons then.
>>
Alright, going with duel with real weapons, to the first severe wound.
>>
>>2329088
The tension at the table is palpable. Frost-Mantle looks stunned. Even other patrons have taken notice of the accusation, and the dim in the bar dies down.

Your anger flares as you rise to your feet and draw your sword, causing the other patrons to click in anticipation as Thunder-Spear extends his wrist-blades in response.

“If I am liar, you should have no trouble besting me in a duel to the first severe wound. If not, I guess that just means I’m telling the truth.”

Thunder-Spear chuckles as he begins to unlatch his cuirass. “Should have just admitted your lie. Now you’re only in for a world of hurt and further dishonor.”

The bar is now silent. You hear the voice of Blood-Shadow.

“Who will be the arbiter?”

Your rage builds as Thunder-Hawk responds. “Good question. No doubt you will want a Stone-Hawk to preside over this duel.”

He shouts out to the bar. “We should have an arbiter not of clan Stone-Hawk or Thorn-Wolf. Come on, there must be one of you here. Who will judge this duel?”

An older yautja rises from one of the tables and speaks, as others begin to clear the room to make space for your bout.

“I am of the Grave-Walker clan and will preside over your duel.” He continues to speak. “The victor will be the first to deal what I judge to be a severe wound. Only one weapon should be used by each combatant. I see you have already begun removing your armor. Finish, and it can begin, when everyone is on fair footing.”

“Fine!” You shout out, as you angrily pace to far side of the clearing.

“It’s acceptable.” Thunder-Spear states. You hear his cuirass and something else hit the table. ”I think I’ll use my blades for this fight. I want to get up close and personal.”

You turn around, and you stare into each other’s eyes as he walks towards you with a grin, light wrist-blades extended. He has removed his cuirass and the scales which protect his shoulders and his legs, along with the shin-guards of his boots.

The entire alehouse is watching you. You realize that he has experience fighting yautja, having killed three during his trial.

You decide to:
>A. Go on the offensive, starting the fight with a powerful strike aimed at his head from above. (DC: Hard)
>B. Go on the offensive, probing at his defenses with stabs aimed at his face and slashes aimed at his arms. (DC: Medium-Hard)

You adopt a defensive stance, with both hands on the grip of your weapon, and wait for his attack.

He launches himself towards you, making an overhead strike with his right arm. You step backwards and outside as you parry his attack, forming sparks as your sword touches his blade.

He attacks you from the other side, aiming at your body, but you evade the blow by moving backwards.

You continue to parry and dodge his alternating blows, moving backwards all the while. You notice his attacks have become routine, intended not to break through your defense but to force you backwards to the wall where he will hold the advantage.

Just as his blows have become routine, so have your dodges and parries. If you break the routine and attempt an attack, perhaps it will surprise him.

You are nearly at the wall when he swings at you from the right as he had done many times before. This time, instead of merely dodging out of the way, you bring your blade down on his inner forearm as you move backwards. He curses at that, swinging at your head with his right arm with a yell, but you duck under his attack and slam into his heavy bulk with your shoulder. It takes all your strength to push him backwards.

You have the initiative, if only for a moment. You decide to:
>A. Attempt to land a flurry of strikes to his torso to end the fight, leaving obvious scars to forever remind him of this fight. (DC: Hard)
>B. Slice the outside of his left leg with your sword as he moves backwards. Your sword is angled well to deal such a blow quickly. (Variable DC. DC Medium to deal a minor wound | DC Medium-Hard to deal a major wound which would cause the arbiter to call the fight.)
>C. Move to the side, away from the wall, and let him attack you again. You will wear him down slowly. (Variable DC. DC: Medium to defend | DC: Medium-hard to deal a minor wound | DC: Hard to deal a major wound)

No masks.
You'll need support from others if you want to use a fate point. They will not be renewed until you finish your next mission, most likely.
Also you don't need to spend it right off the bat. You can try to roll first and spend it if you fail the roll.

I won't ask if you want to use a fate point if you fail rolls which won't have largely bad consequences. If players want to use fate points in that situation they will have to push for it. I'll ask if they want to use them if they fail important rolls which will have significant consequences.

As he stumbles backwards you quickly bring your blade against the outside of his left thigh. He tries to strike your arm with his left blade to stop your attack, but he is too late.

Flourescent blood spurts out as you slide the blade towards you and to the left to cut deeply into his leg. He roars as you notice most of his weight shift to his other leg.

You hold your blade in front of you to defend against another attack. Scowling defiantly, he prepares to attack you again, but is stopped by the voice of the arbiter.

“That’s enough! It’s a deep wound, one not taken care of with mere bandages. He has won the duel. Stand down.”

Thunder-Spear looks incredibly displeased as he lowers his wrist-blades, and finally retracts them. You do the same and hang your sword from your belt.

“Retract your statement.” You hiss. ”I won my trophies fairly.”

He forces the unpleasant words from his mouth as blood flows from his wound. “Fine, Stone-Hawk. You’ve won. Let everyone know that Thunder-Spear affirms Ebon-Fang fairly won five trophies in his trial.”

He turns to limp back to his chair at the table, and you hear some cheers from behind you, as the din begins to grow when people begin to talk about the fight. The Stone-Hawks are probably glad you defended your honor, and the clan's.

It is too soon to tell if you have won Thunder-Spear’s respect or his hatred.

That was fun, thanks for running Fish.

I sometimes wish that the DCs weren't displayed. It seems we usually take the least risky course of action rather than ever taking a chance. Leaving a huge scar across his torso to forever remind him of our might would have been a great way to start things off as a hunter.

Looking back on this fight I think it was too easy. I'll chalk it up to Thunder-Spear's overconfidence. If I were writing it again I would mention the strength of his blows and how they were difficult to block. Maybe mention his blade tearing off a chunk of the wall as you ducked under his swing, or just made the fight last longer than two posts.
I'm considering making a more complicated system with stuff like attributes, skills (sword, stealth, combi-stick, plasma caster), damage thresholds, HP, weapon damage, etc. Maybe I should just make the DCs higher.

If I finish making a system I'll run a one-shot after this thread is over, before you actually begin your next mission where you are a yautja captured by badbloods and forced to fight in an arena against different enemies, to see how things will actually work. If it works well you guys can decide if you want me to run this quest with that system or just stick to what I am doing now.

Feel free to suggest some rulesets you think would work well for this quest.

Anyway, I'll make a post between 1-2PM EST.

You give a nod of appreciation to the arbiter before heading back to the table yourself, the last traces of adrenaline and anger dissipating as you sit back in your chair.

Thunder-Spear falls back into his own chair with a grunt, looking down at his legs dismally, before an irritated Frost-Mantle speaks.

“Why did you two fools have to do that?” He looks to Thunder-Spear, who sits next to him, and prods him in the shoulder with his finger. “This was supposed to be a long night of drinking. Now you’ll have to head to the medbay before we have even started.”

Thunder-Spear pushes the hand away with his injured arm. “I looked worse after my trials and still found time to drink before slipping into a pod.” He looks at his leg wound, inquisitively. “Should be fine, so long as I make it into my ship’s bay when we’re done here.”

Frost-Mantle responds and laughs. “Suit yourself. Keep bleeding! Maybe now I’ll be able to outdrink you.”

You hear a noise behind you and turn to see the owner of the alehouse himself approaching with a tray filled with wooden mugs.

“Good fight, if a little quick. Brought me back to my days at the arena. First round is free, for the entertainment. Rest you’ll still have to pay for.”

All at the table thank him as he places the drinks on the table except for Thunder-Spear, who immediately takes his mug and begins guzzling the ale.

Frost-Mantle orders a bird roast for the five of you before he leaves.

Thunder-Spear is already halfway through his own when you all raise your mugs to toast to a good fight.

I'm just not writing these fights to my satisfaction, thinking about the one with the hunter on the bank and the one vs Thunder-Spear. The others I think were fine.
I think I need to introduce attributes like strength. Would have been an opposed strength roll to break through his block if you chose the aggressive option first.
Second, probing his defence, might have been an opposed Dex roll.
Third would be Perception/Dex vs Str.

Not gonna go all autistic with it by adding shit l like "you can only run ten feet in one turn", but I think it's what I'll do.

Dueling mask will just add +1 to all of your melee defense rolls.
If you had picked heavy armor, it would penalize your evasion rolls by 1 and buff your strength ones by 1, or maybe 2.

I'll think about it more.

You grab the mug and drink it down.

It is a strong ale, stronger than that your mentor gave you earlier. You get about halfway through what’s in the large mug before deciding to stop.

Your mug hits the table with a thud as you lower your drink. You feel slightly heady. Not long after, Azure-Blade and Blood-Shadow place theirs down as well, having drank about as much as you. Frost-Mantle is still going, trying to catch up to Thunder-Spear, who is nearly finished with his drink. When Thunder-Spear is done he lowers his mug as well with a belch. Frost-Mantle increases his speed, seeing this, and finishes not long after, speaking first, more slowly than before.

“Damn, you had a head start. Would have finished mine quicker if you didn’t”

“Prove it next round, then.” Thunder-Spear responds, as he reaches into a bag on the table which he had taken off before your duel, getting a roll of gauze from inside. “Don’t want to bleed all over these fine chairs.” He says, saying the last two words with derision.

As he bandages himself you wonder about what Frost-Mantle said earlier about going off-planet, and speak.

“You said you were going off-planet. Where are you going?”

”Hunting!” he grins. “Azure-Blade should tell you about it. It’s thanks to his mentor that we found something sporting.”

Azure-Blade looks for surprised for a second but then responds. “Ah, yes. From him I learned of the location of some softmeat. They’re on the outskirts of the human empire. Should be a fun hunt.”

Frost-Mantle speaks next. “They’re from an outcast clan, some kind of rebels. Planet is more of a military outpost than a settlement. No one will miss them.

”You should come with us.” Blood-Shadow suddenly says. “You can’t miss it. You’ve got to see my net slice one of them to shreds. It’ll be way more impressive than what it can do against the training dummies.”

Thunder-Spear is next to talk. ”Not sure if my ship can tow yours, if he comes. Might be too much weight.”

Frost-Mantle laughs at that. “Don’t be sore about losing! He didn’t even finish his drink. He can’t possible weigh us down.” He turns to you. “So, want to come? We’re leaving tomorrow right before dusk.

The three of you grab your drinks and pound them back.

Everyone carves some meat from the roast to place on their plates. More ale is served throughout the evening, as you talk, and you manage to stay ahead of Azure-Blade and Blood-Shadow without too much impairment, not entering the contest between Frost-Mantle and Thunder-Spear.

Talking with Thunder-Spear, who has seemingly forgotten about your fight now that the drinking has truly begun, you learn a few things about him. He is the only one, other than Frost-Mantle, who owns a ship which he calls the Void-Render, and his ship is actually a proper ship, with full-sized fold-space engines. Frost-Mantle’s are apparently of lower quality, so the plan is that the Void-Render will tow his ship to the human planet so that the trip will be shorter.

It has been only one year since his blooding, and he has not been on a proper hunt since. Apparently, his father is a wealthy and high-ranking elder within the Thorn-Wolf clan, and he has spent the last year as his attendant to learn the work of elders and high-ranking council members. You get the sense that much is expected of him.

You also learn a few things about Blood-Shadow. It has been six months since his blooding and he has spent all of it simply looking for a good chance to hunt off-planet, which he has now found. You learn that his mother is an archivist at the Stone-Hawk Archives.

You find that it has been only a week since Azure-Blade’s blooding, which he completed on a different trial ground than yours. His mentor is apparently named Red-Hook, a name you’ve never heard before. He is rather tight-fanged, and you can’t get much out of him, but you learn that his mentor once served the Matriarch as a skilled scout and tracker.

A few hours later the roast is totally consumed. Azure-Blade face lies on the table and you can’t tell if he is even conscious or not. Blood-Shadow gives him a poke and laughs when there is no response.

You feel quite drunk yourself, but it should pass in a few hours.

Frost-Mantle has conceded in the contest between him and Thunder-Spear, not willing to consume another mug, which Thunder-Spear is currently draining.

As he finishes, he slams the mug on the table triumphantly, and holds his hand up, with his index finger extended, slurring as he speaks.

“I win again, Frost-Mantle.”

Some time later, you bid everyone a goodbye. You doubt Azure-Blade can make it home of his own power, but it seems Blood-Shadow will take care of him. The other two make their way to their own ships.

Walking back to your lodgings, you decide how you want to enter.
>A. As you are now.
>B. You will first walk to the Ritual Hall, where you will pick up and wear your armor and weapons.
You also decide you will.
>C. Enter your home sneakily, trying to make it to your bedroom unnoticed. (DC: Hard)
>D. Enter confidently through the front door, not trying to hide yourself.

You make your way to the ritual hall to get your new equipment.

You arrive and walk through the entrance. The place is entirely empty. You head towards the preparation room where you stowed your equipment.

The trunk is exactly where you left it. You unlock the trunk and begin equipping your gear, after taking off your tattered ceremonial light armor.

A few moments later you are entirely equipped. The medium armor feels far more comfortable than before now that you are not wearing it over your other armor. You test your cloak on a whim. It works perfectly, and you can see the power drain visible on your HUD of your mask.

You turn off the cloak and begin walking to the lodge.

It is nearly midnight when you reach it. You open the front door and walk into the main room where you see your foster father Falling-Blade sitting at the kitchen table having a late-night meal. He is wearing his own armor, along with his wrist-blades. Your brother must already be asleep.

He turns when you enter and speaks.

“Oh, you’ve arrived. Unfortunately, you’re late, and you missed the celebrations. We were all so happy when we heard you survived your trial.”

You ignore his words and move to enter your room, but he quickly stands and moves to block your path. Your rage builds as he begins to speak.

“I see you are well-equipped.” He looks at your trophies. “Did you think that you had the right to trade away your trophies before consulting me and giving me my due?!” He looks at your sword. “But I am merciful. Instead of a beating, I’ll take the rest of your trophies and that weapon, so you learn your place!”

He moves to grab your sword and the rest of your trophies. How do you respond?
>A. Let him take his due.
>B. Grab his arm and tell him he won’t be receiving any trophies from you.
>C. No longer a youngling, you don’t have to suffer this any longer. Punch him in the face. (DC: Medium)

A rage overtakes you.

You unleash the full force of a lifetime of resentment as you swing your right fist at his maskless face. He barely has time enough to be surprised at your sudden defiance before your fist strikes his face and sends him reeling backwards.

You don’t stop there. You close the distance as he raises his arms to defend but you smash right through his guard and begin pummeling his face repeatedly as you imagined yourself doing so many times while training at the dojo.

You give a final strike that sends him stumbling backwards to one knee. He spits out blood, and you see that you have broken one of his fangs. You look at your hand and realize that doing so has put a gash into one of your right knuckles.

“Big mistake, ungrateful whelp. I promised I would foster you, until you came of age. Now that that’s done, I’ll kill you!”

You hear wrist-blades being extended as he leaps at you and shouts. "Die!"

Do you:
>A. Roll out of the way and run out the door, using your cloak to escape before one of you dies. (DC: Easy)
>B. Roll out of the way, drawing your sword and trying to at least graze him as he passes you. (DC: Medium)
>C. Draw your sword before he can reach you and impale him with a stab. (DC: Medium-Hard)
>D. Draw your plasma pistol and shoot him in the head before he can reach you. (DC: Medium)
>E. Extend your wrist-blades and meet the full force of his pounce, hoping you can hurt him more than he hurts you. (DC: Hard)

I don't mind if this option wins but if you succeed on that you'll turn his head into mush and your foster brother will see you standing over the corpse of his father. He'll be exiting his room soon because of the clamor.
He's always been nice enough to you but his father punished his acts of kindness and did not let you associate with eachother. He never had the will to go against him.
And while you are the superior Yautja honor and hatred will compel him to seek revenge.

Your mask instantly calculates his flight trajectory and the most likely path of the blade he is preparing to let free towards you. You draw your sword, which hangs from the left side of your belt, as you immediately leap backwards and to the right, towards the kitchen and away from that path, dealing a slash which lightly wounds his outer arm. He groans as he thrusts out his arms to the ground to catch himself and quickly roll back onto his feet.

You hear something stir from deeper in the lodging.

“I’ve wanted you dead ever since you arrived!”

He looks at you with hatred as he moves to attack.

Do you:
>A. Attack him swiftly, thrusting your blade through his armored chest. (DC: Medium-Hard)
>B. Attack him as he attacks you, moving to cut off his hand. (DC: Hard)
>C. Defend against his attack, looking for an opportunity to thrust your blade towards his throat through a gap in his guard. (DC: Medium)

He thrusts his right arm towards your face.

Your mask instantly calculates and shows you the trajectory. You move to cut off his arm with your sword, but his attack is a feint. Right before you reach it he stops and angles his right arm to block the blow, your sword in between his two blades, as he brings his left arm towards your gut with terrible force, his pointed and heavier twin blades piercing right through your armor and deep into your gut.

He then pushes you backwards with all his strength as he dislodges his blades from your gut. You hold the painful, bleeding wound with your left hand as he grins at you with a broken fang. “You really are a weakling when another expects your attack.”

You hear footsteps from deeper within the house.

Do you:
>A. Defend against his next attacks and thrust at his neck through a gap in his guard. (DC: Medium-Hard)
>B. Move quickly to impale him in the gut with your sword, piercing the armor. (DC: Hard)

You calm your breathing as you move your arm back to hold the blade with both hands, ignoring the pain in your gut as you prepare to patiently defend until an opening presents itself.

Your mask predicts the path of his blow as he quickly moves to hit your throat with an upward strike. You move back just in time, and seeing he has missed, he moves to strike at your gut again from the side, but you move your blade down to slash his arm as you jump backwards. With your mask his attacks are easy to see. Yelling in anger, he thrusts at your face with his right arm, but you move out of the way, simultaneously slashing his inner arm. His attacks are easier to counter when you patiently wait for small openings to exploit of quickly, before immediately drawing back, instead of risking it all on one strike to take him out of the fight.

In his anger one of his attacks miss wildly, allowing you to put a deep gash in the front of his thigh, above the knee where there are no protective scales, causing him to howl in pain. You counter his next attack as well, stabbing into his hip, through the armored scales, before pushing him onto his back with a mighty kick.

As you approach to finish him, a fire in your eyes, you see your brother exit the hallway. Both of you look towards him as he speaks.

“What the hell are you two doing? Stop fighting!”

You hold your wound as a prone Falling-Blade responds. “Doing what I should have long ago! Look what he has done, Ash-Spike! Kill him! Prove yourself the better yautja!”

“Are you two mad? What is this family? Stop fighting!”

”Family!? This clanless orphan can never be family, you weak fool. Weak, and foolish, just like your mother who took him in.”

Your anger flares at his words. You grip your blade more tightly.

>A. Kill him. He is distracted. You can easily put an end to that wretches life, and your brother is too far to stop you.
>B. Walk away and leave this lodge forever. You’ve won the fight and are free of his control.
>>
>>2333179

As you look at the wounded Falling-Blade and hear your brother’s pleading voice your anger dissipates. You’ve won. There is nothing left for you to do here.

“Goodbye, brother.” You say, as you turn to walk away towards the door.

He looks stunned. As you walk towards the door, Falling-Blade screams at his son, insulting him, exhorting him to charge you from behind and kill you, but he simply stands still.

You leave through the front door, engaging your cloak, on a whim, and wander aimlessly with your blood-soaked blade still in your hand, with more blood flowing through the hole in your armor.

Water flows from your eyes as well, and you feel something you never have before.

You decide where to go next:
>A. The medbay to treat your wounds.
>B. To Frost-Mantle’s ship. You could use the med-pod inside of it.
>C. To your mentor’s dojo. Perhaps he would let you use the med-pod inside of his own ship, but you don’t know if it would be proper. Your relationship with your mentor has been formal, and you are not sure if he would appreciate you turning up unannounced.
>D. Go climb a tree somewhere in the wilderness to sleep after treating your wounds with your advanced med-kit. However, the kit is intended for stabilization and not proper healing.

Rain begins to fall from the sky as you walk to your mentor’s dojo, the water washing the blood off your blade. You disable your cloak.

You arrive at his dojo drenched. You stow your blade before knocking three times on the thick front door of wood, intended for visitors, not students.

You wait a while and are about to knock on the door again when you hear something from inside unlatch.

Your mentor opens the door and looks at you with his one eye. He looks tired, like he was just sleeping, but he is still wearing his heavy armor.

“You’re early.” He states simply.

He looks to your wound.

“I can guess what happened. Have you finally broken free of Falling-Blade’s control?”

You’re surprised your mentor even knows his name, but you respond. “Yes.”

“Is he alive?”

“He is.”

“Good. You won’t have to worry about an inquiry then, and he has no friends who will fight you in his name.”

He looks sad for a moment.

“Your brother is not so lucky as you. Now, Falling-Blade will only reign over him more strictly.”

You wonder how he can even make such predictions. Your foster father’s distaste for you was so great that his son did not learn under the same mentor. You have never discussed your family with your mentor.

“How do you know these things?”

Burning-Spear responds. “I see far more than most would think, more than I rightly should.”

He looks to your wound again.

“You’re wounded. Come to the medical bay of my ship. You can stay here for the night. In the morning we will discuss business.”

You are surprised that your mentor has invited you in so casually, but you follow him to the hanger, as he leads you through the dojo, and to his ship, the Ghost-Eel.

You enter, and he leads you through a different path than before. You reach the medical bay.
“Take off your gear. It works better without it.”

You comply and then slip into the pod.

“This pod is entirely automated. Your wounds don’t seem to need a closer examination from me.”

You see him hold your sword up, through the transparent surface of the pod covering. He examines it and speaks.

“You ought to take care of a blade like this. It isn’t proper to simply have It hanging from your belt. You need a sheathe. I can recommend a good smith in the city for you to visit. He won’t be able to finish his work in time for your next mission, but he might be able to give you something out of leather until he’s done.”

You feel the anesthetic enter your bloodstream and the machine begins to treat your wounds. Some time later, it is done, and you exit the pod. Your mentor speaks.

“There is a room on the lower level, not far from the entrance to the training grounds. You can notice it by the rusted handle. Use it for tonight, you can find it on your own. I’m going back to the sleep which you interrupted.”
>>
>>2333418
You thank him and bow as he leaves you with your gear on the floor, and your sword on a nearby table.

You don your gear and make your way to the room which he described.

As you lie on the bed trying to drift into sleep, you can’t help but see the face of Falling-Blade, which angers you. You wish you had a memory of your real father or mother. You wish you knew which clan you really came from.

His words of “clanless orphan” echo in your mind as you drift into an uneasy sleep.

You walk in total darkness. The cold metal floor chills your feet as you hear a clang from the steel walls which surround you, and then another, and another. The clanging increases in loudness and intensity as you keep moving.

You see a slight hint of light, further in the tunnel, and move forward. Approaching, you see a yautja hunched over at a forge, slamming a hammer down onto a blade.

Clang, clang, clang. The sound becomes overwhelming. You close your eyes and it grows even louder, you imagine yourself surrounded by a thousand yautja smiths working tirelessly, and then you wake.

Your room is as dark as when you entered it to sleep, except for a hint of light which comes in from under the door. You hear a faint sound from outside the room, one familiar to you, the sound of blade on blade heard constantly by those who train at the dojo. The training day must have begun.

You feel a slight pain in your treated wound as you rise to your feet and don all the gear which you removed the night before. You hold up your blade and look at its surface seeing your masked reflection looking back at you, as if in a mirror. Your mentor is right about you needing a sheathe. Such craftsmanship should not be allowed to degrade.

You exit the room and head to the training grounds of the dojo through the lower entrance which your mentor most often used, beneath the balcony from which he watched his students train.

The morning sun shines in your eyes as you open the door and exit. You see your mentor’s younger students training, about ten of them, paired up and dueling with dull combi-sticks. When you exit one of the students looks at you and that earns him a strike right in his face from his opponent.

You hear your mentor speak from above you, from the balcony. “Disappointing, Grey-Hand. I’ve already warned you what becoming distracted will earn you, defeat! Again!”

The two students resume their duel, and you walk further out into the training ground, looking upwards towards the balcony to see your mentor, standing above and leaning onto the railing.

As he sees you he speaks.

“You’ve finally awoken.” He points to the wooden steps which lead up to the balcony. “Come and join me. You might be able to learn something, observing these duels.”

You climb up the steps and reach the balcony and then walk to your mentor’s side. He points to the pair which you first took notice of and speaks.

“You already know Grey-Hand. He’s too curious and distractible for his own good, too mindful of my own watchful eye.” He points to the one Grey-Hand fights. “That one is Bone-Slayer. He is entirely different. Right now, all he sees is Grey-Hand, too pleased with his successful strike, too confident. He has already begun to fight more recklessly.”

You watch them fight and see your mentor speaks the truth. Grey-Hand is obviously nervous, being observed by his mentor and a stranger after a chiding. He moves too drastically to avoid Bone-Slayer’s attacks, wasting too much energy, and making almost no attempts for attacks of his own. At this rate, he will quickly tire himself out.

Bone-Slayer on the other hand has abandoned the forms which your mentor taught you, reverting to the style of a barely trained suckling, brutal blows with no finesse, taunting his opponent all the while. You see many holes in his defense which you could easily exploit yourself, but Grey-Hand does not.

“Who will win?"

>A. Bone-Slayer. Grey-Hand has lost his confidence and concentration, and will soon wear himself out enough for one of Bone-Slayer’s attacks to land.
>B. Grey-Hand. Bone-Slayer is leaving himself wide open. Grey-Hand just needs to gather himself to counter his wild blows.

Rolled 1 (1d2)

Grey-Hand then.
1 - Grey-Hand wins
2 - Bone-Slayer wins
>>
>>2338374
“Grey-Hand. He just needs to regain his courage and counter Bone-Slayer’s wild attacks.”

“In my experience, such a recovery rarely happens.“ Your mentor responds. “It is more difficult to overcome a disadvantage than it is for your enemy to exploit one.”

You two watch the fight. Bone-Slayer repeatedly swings at his opponent without pause. Grey-Hand does what he was doing before, using too much effort to evade attacks, jumping backwards when a step to the side would do, not taking advantage of the openings which present themselves.

It almost seems hopeless when you notice a change. Grey-Hand’s movements become more measured and his parries become less desperate.

Laughing, Bone-Slayer takes this as a sign of fatigue and raises both hands high above his head to deal a brutal downward blow, leaving himself wide open to an attack from Grey-Hand.

Finally, Grey-Hand attacks. He swings his combi-stick right at the neck of Bone-Slayer, hitting him right below the cartilage, causing Bone-Slayer to choke and drop his weapon. You grimace. Such a blow would be certain death if these weapons were not dulled, but it is a risk even now.

Your mentor quickly shouts out. “Dueling is finished!” and the assembled students cease their duels.

Grey-Hand approaches Bone-Slayer who is on his knees choking to help him up. Bone-Slayer coughs and bats the hand offered to him away angrily, standing up by himself.

He moves to walk away but your mentor stops him.

“Why did you lose, Bone-Slayer?”

There is no response. You can tell he is fuming.

“You lost because you forgot your training and became reckless. An opponent is not finished just because he is wounded and on the defense. I think we will need to revisit the basic forms, if you forget them once you land one hit.”

Bone-Slayer says nothing. Your mentor begins to address the whole mass of students.

“Take a break for the next half-hour. When I return we will practice throwing.”

Your mentor turns and walks inside of his home, intending for you to follow him. Before you turn, you notice many eyes on you. It amuses you. Some might have recognized you if you were not wearing your mask, but now not one of them has any idea who you are.

Your mentor leads you to a small table, on which is a jar of hot leaf-brew along with two cups. You both sit at the table and your mentor begins to pour the drink into his own cup, and then yours.

“They have a long way to go. That Bone-Slayer… he takes everything personally. If that stops him from learning, his blooding will not go well.”

He drinks the hot brew and you follow him in doing so. He places his cup back on the table and begins to speak.
>>

“It’s time to talk about what the Matriarch’s envoy came here for.” He takes another sip of the hot drink and talks again. “One of her most valued hunters has disappeared on a mission. He was tracking a band of Bad-Bloods. This band is one of the worst and most elusive, even the higher-ups on Yautja Prime have taken notice of them. The envoy wanted me to lead the effort to find out what happened and then track down and eliminate this band, but I am too old for that, and you are far too inexperienced. Instead, the mission will simply be investigative, a small two-man team will go to his last known location and find out what happened. I’ve managed to secure a spot for you on this team, under the command of an experience hunter from our clan.”

“I should warn you, it will be dangerous to go where one of her most trusted hunters might have met his end. This will not be merely a hunt. The goal is not trophies but to find out what happened. The glory you win, if you are successful, will not be of the kind to boast of in the alehouse, in fact, you could be under orders not to, but you have the chance of catching the eye of the Matriarch, and something like that cannot be measured in trophies.”

He speaks again.

“I can’t tell you more unless you swear yourself to this mission. Do you accept this task?”

>Yes.
>No.

What is the custom on taking other preds as trophies?
>>
>>2338745
It's a recon mission. If all goes well, we won't have to fight anyone
>>
>>2338749
But if
>>
>>2338745
If both of you aren't badbloods taking a trophy will probably make you into one. It's hugely disrespectful and viewed almost like cannibalism.
If you take a trophy from a badblood for a reason other than "I am taking this so that there is proof I killed this fuck" you won't be punished, but most people wouldn't want it as a gift and walking around town with them on your belt would be very unwise. The more death rather than honor obsessed Yautjas might like them though... haven't seen any of those around. I'm sure there is a Skull and Bones type yautja secret society somewhere in this universe that gathers to lick the teeth of the pred-geronimo. Maybe they have that shit on Yautja Prime.

If you kill the actual leader of the band the matriarch or someone else might like to have his head, though.

Anyway, Yes wins.

“I swear, I will complete this mission.”

“Good.” Your mentor responds. “Now I can tell you more. The hunter you will be under the command of is named Storm-Grasp. He is not known to me, but he has been a blooded hunter for quite some time. His ship is called the Fire-Seer. Meet him tomorrow morning at the space-port, at the latest. That is when he is leaving. Don’t disappoint him. He wanted to choose his own teammate, but the Matriarch owed me a favor. Owes me a few still.”

”As for what happened exactly to Life-Queller, the hunter who went missing, we don’t know much. He followed the trail of the band to what is an abandoned human laboratory, from the records on his ship. He landed on a moon in the Heron sector, subsector Ophidian. He didn’t return to his ship, and it flew autonomously back to Yautja Secunda. All we know is from the record on his ship.”

You ask your mentor if he knows other things.
>A. Ask him about the band of badbloods.
>B. Ask him about the Matriarch of your clan.
>C. Ask him about something else.
(you can vote for all of these)
You then decide to go to:
>A. The smith, to order a sheathe for your sword and get your armor repaired.
>B. The Archives, to research the history of your people and install translation software onto your mask.
>C. Frost-Mantle’s ship, to inform him you won’t be coming on his hunt.
>D. Storm-Grasp’s ship. (this will result in a timeskip to tomorrow, after some conversation)
>E. Somewhere else.

I'll do this one, but visit Frost-Mantle first because telling him won't require any votes.

Gonna have dinner.
I'll keep running afterwards until we have finished all our business on-planet and decided to head to Storm-Grasps ship, then I will end and archive this thread.
Got a busier week ahead of me again so you can expect the next thread Friday.
See you guys in an hour or so.
>>
Sorry that Dinner took so long.
I will give you a small post, writing up the rest.

Also, you guys can help me by posting some good yautja names, also ship, warband, and clan names. I've already used Red-Hook and Storm-Grasp, those are both names someone posted in the thread.

It actually takes me a while to come up with good ones.

“Can you tell me anything else about these renegades?” You say.

“I’ll tell you as much as I know, which is of little help in tracking them down, unfortunately. Their leader was formerly of clan Grave-Walker, a yautja called White-Rein. The rumors are that not long after his blooding he killed his entire family in their sleep and then killed his own mentor, stealing his ship after capturing some of his mentor’s youngest students, and then making his way off planet. Those cowardly Grave-Walkers didn’t tell the other clans for years, covering it up and trying to track him down themselves, failing miserably. If they had told us, maybe we could have done something, but they didn’t, and he was able to surprise our clan and others, sending distress signals near foldspace routes in human space and ambushing those who came to investigate. He managed to capture many ships and was even able to bend the yautja within to his will, bolstering his numbers. He sometimes left ships behind with mutilated corpses, presumably of those who did not join him. I don’t know much else, perhaps Storm-Grasp will be able to tell you something more.” He pauses, and then speaks again. “Be careful. This White-Rein is entirely without honor, a bloodthirsty maniac, but he is extremely dangerous and cunning. Do not underestimate him or his band. Avoid them at all costs. Your mission is only to investigate.

You thank your mentor and wonder what else you should ask him.

“What can you tell me about our matriarch?”
>>
>>2339427
“What can you tell me about our matriarch?”

“Ah, the matriarch of clan Stone-Hawk is indeed a hawk. I’m simultaneously disappointed and relieved that I wasn’t there when the Grave-Walker matriarch finally told her about this White-Rein. I can’t imagine the reaction was pretty.” He pauses, as if remembering something, and grins slightly. “She is very impatient, one reason she hasn’t met you. She has no time for a youngblood like you. Don’t waste her time boasting of your exploits, if you ever do meet, she prefers the bare facts. Also, if you give her trophies, give her only the best. She has been around a long time and has had many presented to her. It is better to bear good news, and nothing else, than it is to bear good news and a mediocre trophy.

“I could tell you more, but I shouldn’t spoil the surprise. You’ll find out what she’s really like if you meet her, and if you don’t, there is no use in knowing.”

He looks towards your still-steaming cup. His own is empty.

“Finish up here. I need to get back to training students.”

He stands up and begins to walk away towards the balcony entrance but turns around.

“Oh, I almost forgot. I still haven’t told you about that smith. His name is Sky-Forge. Quite fitting, isn’t it?”

He raises his wrist computer and gives it a few taps. Suddenly, you hear a noise from your own wrist-computer.
“I’ve sent you a file with his location. Oh, another thing. Don’t mention what I’ve told you to anyone. The clans on Secunda want to keep this quiet and keep rumor from further spreading. It will be a great embarrassment if a clan from Yautja Prime or Yautja Tertia catches wind and is the one to bring this White-Rein to justice.”

He turns to walk away, but you stop him as you speak.

“Thank you, mentor. I promise I won’t disappoint you.”

“I hope so.” He says, as he walks out of the door to the balcony.

You hear him yell at his students, ordering them to gather up.

You finish up your drink and exit through the front door. You head to Frost-Mantle’s ship at the ground landing port, careful to avoid the path that would take you close to your former lodgings.

You find his ship parked in one of the landing bays with the ramp down and open. You walk up the ramp and see that the vomit you had left is no longer here. You wonder who cleaned it.

You hear a voice of Frost-Mantle through the speakers of the ship.

“Ah, you’ve arrived. I hope you are not here to once again redecorate my ship. Come to the cockpit. The others have yet to arrive."
>>
>>2339617
You head towards the cockpit and enter. Frost-Mantle is there waiting for you.

“So, have you decided to join me on my hunt? Many trophies await us!”

“I’m afraid not, friend, but I appreciate the offer. Our mentor had a job for me. I couldn’t turn him down.” You respond.

“Ah, you’re a lucky one. I had to slave away after my blooding flying his students to and fro, and I got nothing but some credits and you have a hunt lined up for you just a few days after your blooding.” He pauses. “What is the job, anyway?”

“I’m afraid I can’t say. Mentor’s orders.”

“Hmph. Must be important. Well, I hope it is worth not getting to come along with me and the others on this hunt. Blood-Shadow will be disappointed. He never stops talking about his damn net-gun. I almost regret bringing him along.”

You wonder where he is going, exactly.

“What about you? I haven’t told you anything, but that doesn’t mean you have to return the favor. Where are you going? If you all die, someone has to find your bodies.”

He laughs and responds. “Oh, it’s just that human planet… can’t remember the name. It’s in sector Heron, subsector Tarragon, one of the only livable planets there.”
That’s the same sector you are headed to. You wonder if you should warn Frost-Mantle about the warband.

Do you:
>A. Tell him everything your mentor told you.
>B. Just tell him to be careful about badbloods, and that you have information that they’ve been operating in that area of space.
>C. Tell him nothing.
>>
>>2339620

>>
B it is.
>>
>>2339620
“Heron…” You trail off, and then speak again. “Be wary, Frost-Mantle. I’ve heard some things about a band of badbloods that has operated in that sector.”

“Really?” he responds. “And where did you hear this from? Is it related to your mission?”

You look in his eyes stoically, saying nothing. Frost-Mantle speaks again.

“Hmph. Don’t think I am a fool. I can see you won’t say any more. Don’t worry, neither will I, well, except to maybe Thunder-Spear. He will be flying us there, after all.” He pauses. “I appreciate the heads-up. Maybe once we’re done with the humans, we will hunt ourselves some badbloods!”

“That would be unwise.” You respond simply.

He laughs, and you bid each other goodbye.

You leave his ship and head towards the smith’s location your mentor gave you. It is rather far from the trading area, closer to the wilderness near your mentor’s dojo. It is a long walk.

Some time later you arrive at where the smith should be. You see a path leading up to a small plateau above the small lodges which surround it. You follow the path.

Reaching the top, you see a large red-hot forge surrounded by a stone floor. The elderly Yautja who must be named Sky-Forge is reclining in a chair. It looks like he’s asleep.

You cough slightly. He sputters as he is jolted awake by the sound, and he looks at you with wide eyes.

“Who are you?” he says suspiciously.

“Ebon-Fang, the student of Burning-Spear. He said I should come here.” you respond.

“Burning-Spear, you say. Alright. What do you want?” he says.

“I was hoping you could craft a sheath for my sword. I also need this hole in my armor repaired before tomorrow morning.” You say, pointing to the hole in the lower chest plate of your medium armor.

“Sword? What kind of yautja uses a sword? A spear is all you need! A spear, and a big damn plasma caster.” He laughs to himself, and then coughs. “Whatever. Let me see your weapon.”

You pick up your weapon and hand it to him with both hands. He picks it up unceremoniously and begins examining the blade, and his eyes suddenly grow more clear.

“Fine craftsmanship. I will make you a fine sheath. Won’t take me more than two weeks.”

You look disappointed. “Could you make me something simple I can use before then? Something out of leather, perhaps?”

His eyes seem to once again glaze over as he becomes ornery, as he was.“ I suppose I can. I can also fix your armor, before the morning, and I can also make your fine sheath. I can do a lot of things, but I only want to do a few. Why should I just do everything you ask me?

>Do you offer him a trophy? You can also offer him one of your weapons (plasma pistol). These are the trophies you have left.
>You are a poor fuck with no money. Maybe after this mission you will have more than five credits.
>>i. runner tail tip

>>
>>2339961
>>2339980
Alright, worker drone head.
>>
>>2339946
You detach the worker drone’s head from your belt and offer it up to him.

“This is a trophy from my trial won only a few days ago. You can have it.”

He looks at it for a moment, then enthusiastically says: “I accept!”

He grabs the trophy from your hand and slams it on the floor, and then crushes its skull with his bootless foot.

You stare at him in shock and anger as he speaks. He looks almost euphoric. “It’s been a long time since I felt that feeling. You have my thanks. I will do all you asked for.”

Once you realize he is not just insulting you, you simmer down and offer your thanks yourself.

He tells you that he will have your leather sheath and repaired armor ready in only five hours, unexpectedly quick. You remove your cuirass and leave him with your weapon, making him swear to keep it safe, and then head off to the Archives.

Five hours later you return to the forge, having been to the Archives where you installed the translation software into your mask and read a bit about the history of your race, learning nothing which explained what you found in your trial ground.

He is asleep on his chair, once again, but on the floor around him is your perfectly repaired cuirass and your sword inside a leather sheathe.

You head over to pick up the cuirass, but he grabs your hand to stop you.

“No thieving.” he says, tiredly, but then he looks at you. “Oh, it is you. Take your things and leave me be. I’ve taken all the measurements. I’ll have your sheath made in two weeks.”

You thank him, don your gear, and head to the shuttle section of the ground landing port. Storm-Grasp’s ship is in the spaceport, so you will have to take a shuttle there.

You wait for the next shuttle which goes up to the spaceport. When it arrives, you and a few other yautja enter the shuttle. It takes off towards the space station.

When you arrive you will meet Storm-Grasp. You realize he will be your first commander. His judgement of you could greatly affect your career as a hunter. You hope you make a good first impression.
